Good morning, my friends. Judge Napolitano here with What's On My Mind on Judging Freedom. It's Wednesday morning, December 22nd, and a couple of hours ago, the Secret Service of the United States in the Department of the Treasury revealed that the federal government has lost, you ready for this number, you better be sitting down, $100 billion, with a B, dollars in COVID relief funds, and there are 900 active criminal investigations. That means the government, A, can't account for $100 billion of the money that the government gave away during the pandemic last year. And B, the government thinks that $100 billion was stolen by 900 individuals. That's a million dollars each.

It almost sounds like it was an inside job. I'm not suggesting these are government people, and I don't know who they are. But this is a glaring example of what happens when you're spending other people's money. The government has no money of its own. It can only get money two ways, three ways. It can get it from tax dollars, it can print the money, or it can borrow the money. Whatever it is, government doesn't generate any money. When it gives away money that it has acquired from taxes or where it just puts zeros on a bank account, which is the functional equivalent of printing money, or when it sells bonds, which is the same thing as borrowing money, it doesn't care what happens to the money. Could you imagine how inept the government is that it loses $100 billion? I'm grateful that they even admit to this. So 900 people stole $100 billion of COVID relief fund intended for the funds of those intended for those who were severely impacted by COVID.

I rarely root for the government, but this is a legitimate function of government. Get that $100 billion back. Judge Napolitano, judging freedom.
