Hi, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Thursday, September
22, 2022. It's about 1140 in the morning here on the east coast of the United States. The Supreme
Court of the United States recently announced that it will hear an appeal of the NYPD, the New York Police Department,
over whether or not the police have to comply with vaccine mandates imposed by the mayor of New York.
That announcement comes on the heels of a decision by a federal judge in Louisiana who ruled just yesterday that the vaccine mandates for
public school teachers and public employees in the state of Louisiana are unconstitutional.
Now, all of this comes four days after President Biden told a national audience, it was 60 minutes,
it wasn't at any official governmental capacity, but he said
it, that the pandemic is over. So I don't know where all of this is going to go. The federal
judge in Louisiana declared unconstitutional the labor department mandates, which require vaccines
of public employees. If that decision is appealed by the government to the United States
Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Houston, which hears appeals from the federal judge
rulings in Louisiana, well, that court has already ruled that President Biden and the
Labor Department's mandates are unconstitutional. So it seems as though that
judge will be upheld. It also seems as though the Supreme Court would not have taken this NYPD case
unless they wanted to grant the NYPD the relief it so desperately seeks. And it's not just the NYPD,
it's all emergency personnel in New York. So it's
the NYPD, it's the FDNY, the fire department, it's EMS, which works for the fire department,
and it's other emergency personnel. The mayor of New York recently lifted a mandate, which in my
opinion, he still didn't have the authority to impose, but he imposed it and people followed it for private businesses like Fox News to remove the vaccine mandate, but he refused
to lift it for employees of the city. Of course, when he's talking about employees of the city,
his relationship is a little different. He's their boss, ultimately. We'll see which way it goes, but the trend is in favor of freedom. The trend is to criticize
the lockdowns, even by people that supported them. Even the tyrannical governor of New Jersey,
Phil Murphy, who imposed some of the most draconian lockdowns in the country, which included closing down
houses of worship. Even he has been critical now, well, since he's looking for the Democratic
nomination for president if Joe Biden backs out, even he is critical now of his own lockdowns.
So the pandemic is over. The tide is turning. The totalitarians who want to stay in power are being critical of themselves. Do you believe them? Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
