Hello there, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom.

Any chance that I can to praise the other side of the aisle, so to speak, I like to do it. I mean,
I am the enemy of big government, particularly bloated government that spends more than it
takes in and takes in too much to begin with. One of the great examples of that is the state
of Illinois. However, the liberal
Democratic governor of Illinois, Governor J.B. Pritzker, just announced a suspension of the
gasoline tax for a year and a suspension of the sales tax on groceries for a year. That's a great
thing. There shouldn't be any tax on food. Food is expensive enough. There shouldn't be any tax on gasoline, particularly in those parts of the country where you must drive in order to get from A to B, from home to church, from synagogue to home, from clothing store to food store to grocery store to home. So Governor Pritzker, I applaud you for suspending the state sales tax
on gasoline and the state sales tax on groceries. The governor is also about to refund $1.8 billion
in already paid and collected state income tax. That's not the way to do it. Refunding money already collected costs money
and wastes money. Instead of sending them a check, which will look like it's coming from you,
governor, just lower the income tax rates for the next time around so we don't get into the business
of printing and signing and mailing checks.
We just take less of the good people's money from them.
Have a nice weekend, everyone.
