Hi everyone, Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
It's about 4.10 in the afternoon on the east coast of the United States.
It's a very unsettling story that we keep learning more about as the day progresses. About one o'clock in the morning this morning, a 26-year-old man was found,
got out of a cab in Montgomery County, Virginia, in front of the house where Justice Brett Kavanaugh
and his family reside. There were two U.S. Marshals in front of the house who noticed this guy. He
noticed them.
He walked around. He walked away. He got on his phone, and he called the local police and said,
I'm suicidal, and I'm here to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh. That, of course, produced a huge police
presence very, very quickly. He was still on the phone with 911 when the police arrived, and they arrested him,
and they found a knife, a handgun with two magazines, and zip ties as if he was going to
tie someone up before killing them or kidnap them. We don't know exactly what he was going to do. He
obviously has some kind of problems. We don't know if the weapons were lawfully owned. If he bought them in California and brought them across country to Maryland, they're probably not lawful in Maryland, but we don't know that much about this guy. air on this. He was arraigned for attempted murder, and the Supreme Court of the United States just
about two hours ago acknowledged that this event did occur, and the court takes it seriously. It
was a threat on Justice Kavanaugh's life, and of course one of the things this guy told the 911
operators was he was upset about Justice Kavanaugh's presumed support for the
leaked version of the opinion by Justice Sam Alito reversing Roe versus Wade, about which you all
know. We've talked about that on nauseam. So these are dangerous times in which we live. I don't know
what would have happened if the Chief Justice had not
assigned U.S. Marshals to protect the members of the court. What would have happened if he hadn't
seen those U.S. Marshals, if he had approached the house, if he had used firearms to gain access to
that house and to harm Justice Kavanaugh and his family? Thanks be to God it didn't happen.
I myself was threatened when I was on the bench.
I was protected.
I know what it's like.
It's a terrible time in your life.
You just want it to go away.
You don't change your official duties because of it, but you do change how well or how poorly you sleep at night.
We'll see where this goes. Judge Napolitano for Judging Freedom.
