Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello there everyone, Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Friday, April 8, 2022. It's about 10 minutes of 3 in the afternoon. We're about to close up shop for the week when breaking news came through, and that is a federal jury in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which had been trying four members of the Wolverine militia for plotting to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, found two of them not guilty and deadlocked on the other two. This is a profound and monumental defeat for the government because the allegation was that they had planned and plotted this on their own. The defense was the plans and the plots were crafted by the FBI,
Starting point is 00:00:53 paid for by the FBI, motivated by the FBI, put together by the FBI. There were four defendants. There were 18 FBI agents involved in the case. So this is a tremendous defeat for the government. The government will now have to decide whether or not it wants to try the other two as to whom the jury was deadlocked. I don't like to boast, but those of us who believe that the Constitution means what it says, those of us who believe that the government must have evidence of crime before it can investigate a person, those of us who believe it is immoral, unlawful, and unconstitutional for the government to create a crime and then entrap people in the crime that they have created are saying, we told you so. We're happy with this outcome. Look, we don't know what went through the jurors' minds. We may never know unless these jurors decide to speak publicly.
Starting point is 00:01:56 But this is a monumental defeat for the DOJ, the likes of which they haven't seen in years. And it's a great victory for personal freedom in America. Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
