Hello there everyone, Judge Andrew Napolitano here with another Judging Freedom pop-up.
Today is Thursday, February 10, 2022. It's 2.45 in the afternoon here on the east coast of the
United States. Out where I am in the northwest tip of New Jersey, everything is still snow covered, but it's a balmy 45 degrees out and
it's sunny. So it's a very beautiful day. Before I get to the question that comes to us from
viewer Hayden McChesney, I want to thank all of you on your very many complimentary comments. I want you to know that I read them. My staff reads them. I take them into account when I give these little explanations of the law. And are your thoughts? What are your views on the Canadian truck convoy protest of government overreach?
Thank you for your service. Freedom! With an exclamation point. Hayden, I think the Canadian
truckers are the salt of the earth, and I support them to the skies, and I condemn
the people that have tried to make their lives miserable.
The GoFundMe group, which gathered about $10 million in funds, all of a sudden decided to cut it off and is giving those funds back to the people who attempted to send it there.
The police in Canada have been known to steal food and steal gasoline. So the truckers aren't able to stay
where they are or move about as they want to move about. Look, there are times when freedom
only comes about because of a determined behavior of a courageous few, and that behavior often involves civil disobedience. Lawyers, I am one.
Judges, I am formerly one, are not supposed to advocate for the violation of a specific law,
but civil disobedience is the history of freedom in this country. I support the truckers. I encourage them. And I wouldn't be surprised
if some of those guys come south of the border to the United States. Let's face it. The orders
telling us what to put on our faces and what to put in our arms are absolutely unconstitutional.
The government is without authority, federal, state, or local. I'm not
an expert on the Constitution in Canada, but I know that they have constitutional rights up there
as well. Believe me, it is worse there than it is here. You think Joe Biden and Phil Murphy in New
Jersey and Kathy Hochul in New York and Gavin Newsom in California, you think they're tyrants.
They're nothing like Justin Trudeau. However, civil disobedience will scare the daylights out
of the government. As I said earlier today in one of our conversations, where the people fear
the government, there is tyranny. Where the
government fears the people, there is liberty. That means courage, determination, and a fight
for freedom. Judge the Politano, judging freedom. Thanks for watching!
