Hello there, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Thursday, February 22, 2022.

It's 1145 in the morning here on the East Coast,

and the Supreme Court of the United States has just issued a series of rulings, one of which

is of interest to all of us because it involves former President Donald Trump.

It has formally denied his application to block the subpoena served upon him and upon the

National Archives for copies of his White House records sought by the January 6th

Committee of the House of Representatives. Now, you may say, well, didn't this happen once before?

The answer is yes. Here's what happened. The committee served a subpoena on the White House

and on the National Archives and a courtesy copy to the former president. The former president, Donald Trump,

hired lawyers to move to quash the subpoena. A federal district court judge denied it.

President Trump appealed that decision to the United States Court of Appeals, which denied it.

He then filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court, which by a vote of eight to one, Justice Clarence Thomas

dissenting, denied it. He then filed an appeal to have the Supreme Court review the decision

of the Circuit Court of Appeals, and that's what was denied just a few minutes ago. Stated differently, former President Donald Trump has

lost every opportunity he now has to stop the January 6th committee from obtaining records of

his presidency that are in the care and custody and control of the Biden White House and the National Archives. Now, that doesn't

necessarily mean that these records will be made public, but it does mean that in very short order,

probably within seven to ten days, they will be made available to the investigators for

the January 6th Committee of the House of Representatives. Prediction? This will lead

to a subpoena to Trump himself to testify, and he will fight mightily to resist that.

                                         Judge Napolitano, judging freedom.
