Hi, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Thursday, March 30,
2023. It's about 539 in the afternoon. I'm coming to you from a car on the West Side Highway in
Manhattan. The news has just broken that a Manhattan grand jury has indicted former President Donald Trump on the hush money charges.
Now, we've discussed this at great length.
I'll give you a little bit of the procedural history.
The grand jury was sent home yesterday for a month for the Easter, Passover, and Ramadan
holidays.
And a lot of the press were reporting
that the grand jury couldn't come to a decision or needed to hear more
witnesses or the D.A. was looking for an excuse not to have a vote on the indictment.
It turns out the D.A. was a couple of steps ahead of everybody.
Blame me while I'm on with you.
The grand jury voted the other day to indict the former president.
We don't know what the vote is
and we probably won't know what the vote is,
but this means that he is being formally charged
with at least one felony under New York
state law. My guess is that it is the one we have discussed before, which is the use of corporate
funds to pay a campaign debt. It's a little complicated because that's a federal felony
and he's being charged in state court.
But the district attorney has a legal theory that by committing this federal felony,
he also committed a state crime and the state courts are competent to address and examine both.
So once the indictment is revealed and I have a chance to read it, obviously, I'll give you more details
and we'll have more details in the morning as information comes out overnight. But I wanted
you to be the first to know on this YouTube channel that the grand jury has indicted,
a Manhattan grand jury has indicted Donald Trump in the hush money payoff. This means that he will eventually be arrested. Because he's not a flight
risk, he will obviously be allowed to surrender himself, but he'll have to surrender. He'll be
booked. He'll be fingerprinted. He'll be mugged. He'll be weighed. He'll be, he's not going to like
that. He'll be, he'll be measured. The mugshot will be seen around the world.
He'll appear before a judge.
He'll be asked if he is Donald Trump and if he does understand the charges against him and how he pleads.
All of this will play out in the next several days.
Probably, it's now Thursday, probably earlier next week.
So I will sign off.
You'll hear more from me as we get it, of course.
Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
