Hi, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Monday, June 20, 2022, a federal holiday, Juneteenth. the more heartbreaking it is. And the more I point the
finger at the government, I've been pointing my finger at the government for all of these mass
shootings, because of its emasculation of our right to self-defense. The ancient right to
self-defense is a natural personal right that comes from your humanity. The Second Amendment keeps the
government from interfering with that ancient right, but the government interferes with it
anyway. In Buffalo, New York, 10 people were slaughtered by a madman, a racist, who acted out
on his racial hatred of people of color by killing them indiscriminately in an environment
where he knew they couldn't be armed anywhere in the state of New York. In Ovalde, Texas,
where 19 little babies age 7 to 10 were slaughtered by a madman in a school where the teachers and administrators were emasculated
because of a Texas rule that doesn't permit guns in government schools unless the government asks
for exemption from the rule, which 137 school districts in Texas have asked for and all have
received. It was easy in the gun-free school zone to go in there and for this madman
to kill these babies like shooting fish in a barrel. It's absolutely horrific. Both of these
mass murders are the fault of the government, in one case for not letting people carry arms to defend themselves. In another case for advertising
a gun-free school zone. Now we find out more incompetence on the part of the Uvalde School
District Police Department. For 77 minutes while the gunman was murdering babies. Not one of them tried to open the door to the school.
Not one of them tried to open the door. They didn't know if it was locked or if the lock
didn't work. And it turns out that the lock did not work. And if they had attempted
to open that door, they could have gotten in. Of course, these guys are so gutless, so incompetent.
Who knows what they would have done when they got in there? Who knows when they would have decided
to try and open the door? I shouldn't be so angry, but I am angry because babies are dead
And lives are lost and hearts are broken
And this is a pain that will live with the parents
And the loved ones for the rest of their lives
And these babies, little angels in heaven
Never had the chance at life that the rest of us do
Well, they're in a better place
Nevertheless, the incompetence of government, emasculating people from to know and I happen to like
Governor Greg Abbott, who suffered, of course, a catastrophic accident when he was a young man,
which has paralyzed him from the waist down. The person running against him is a left-wing lunatic,
but he did make a point when he interrupted that press conference, which is everybody on this stage, and he was pointing to Governor Abbott, he was pointing to the mayor, he was pointing to the police chief, failed to protect those children.
I don't know if Beto O'Rourke, when he said this, had any idea how bad the failure was.
And it's compounded by the lies that keep coming out of Uvalde.
But the failure was catastrophic, and the more we learn, the more we know we cannot rely on the
government to keep us safe. We must do it ourselves. Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
