Hi, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Tuesday, June 21st, 2022. It's about 1.45 in the afternoon government schools and my opinion of the government-owning schools, but the best school that the government owns, I know this is not going to go over well with my friends in Annapolis, but the best school the government owns is West Point.
West Point, which is the United States Military Academy, trains elite soldiers and statesmen and stateswomen.
It is a fabulous institution with which I have a great deal
of familiarity. I have lectured there. I have relatives who have attended and graduated there.
A cousin of my mom's was the dean of the academic board. That's the highest ranking academic
officer there for many years. He himself received five of the six academic awards at his own
graduation, went on to get a PhD
in chemical engineering from Columbia University. It is a great institution that produces
very intelligent and well-rounded people. Last night, we learned that it is also trying to
indoctrinate, that the incoming freshman class at West Point, which is already
there, even though it's now June, is being taught on the dangers of whiteness,
whiteness being Caucasian, and the merits of critical race theory. There are no dangers of whiteness. There's a danger
in thinking that one race is superior to the other. We all know that. That's been taught for
years. But to suggest that there's a danger in being white is absurd. And I'd like to know who
in the government ordered this. As well, it's absurd to teach critical race theory. Okay, critical race theory
is out there. When I was a visiting professor of law at Brooklyn Law School teaching legal
philosophy, one of the classes is on critical race theory. But at the time, critical race theory was
a legal theory, which argued that the laws are made by white people and they're made with
an animus towards people who are not white. I think that theory is absurd, but it is out there
and people use it and the law schools want young lawyers to be aware of it. But to teach and preach
that it's correct, that it is true, that the country is essentially racist to its core,
that white people have hated people of color for centuries and continue to do so, does nothing but divide, divide, divide. And I don't know why the federal government is requiring young soldiers who will soon be officers in the Army to study this.
And you know if West Point is teaching it, the Air Force Academy is going to teach it.
The Naval Academy at West Point is going to teach it.
The Coast Guard Academy is going to teach it.
The Merchant Marine Academy is going to teach it.
All the schools that the federal government owns will be teaching
this nonsense. It is one thing to be aware of dangerous theories and ideas. We all should be
aware of them. It is quite another to teach that they have merit. That's what I question,
and that's what I'd like to know. Whoever's in charge at West Point,
who made this decision?
Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
