Hi, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Tuesday, November 29th,
2022. It's about 2.55 in the afternoon here on the East Coast of the United States. Yesterday,
in response to a question from a reporter, the White House press secretary
got in a bit of a back and forth with Elon Musk. I mean, some of this is hard to believe and the
press secretary's response is tortuously long and seriously inarticulate, but you need to listen to
the whole thing. So the reporter, before we run it for you,
the reporter begins by saying, oh, Elon Musk says he has more Twitter followers than ever.
Is the White House concerned about this? And then you'll see this long, long, crazy, bizarre,
almost otherworldly response by Karen Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House,
during which she manages to accuse Elon Musk of inciting violence, not even accused of that.
Then we'll show you Elon Musk's Twitter response from late last night after he saw a clip of what
this wacky press secretary said about him.
So first the question from the reporter to the press secretary about Elon Musk and about Twitter,
then the long rambling absurd response. Then I'm going to comment, then we're going to run
Elon Musk's tweet. This is worth hanging on for. Take a listen.
Elon Musk says there's more and more subscribers coming online.
Are you concerned about that? And what tools do you have? Who is it at the White House that is
really keeping track of this? So look, this is something that we're certainly keeping an eye on.
And look, we have always been very clear that when it comes to social media platforms,
it is their responsibility to make sure that when it comes to misinformation,
when it comes to the hate that we're seeing, that they take action, that they continue to take action.
Again, we're all keeping a close eye on this.
We're all monitoring what's currently
occurring. And we see, you know, we see it with our own eyes of what you all are reporting and
just for ourselves what's happening on Twitter. But again, social media companies have a
responsibility to prevent their platforms from being used by any user to incite violence, especially violence
directed at individual communities, as we have been seeing. And the president has been very clear
on calling that out. He'll continue to do that. And we're going to continue to monitor the situation.
It is simply none of the government's business what the private speech in the marketplace of
ideas is. Who the hell is the
government to be monitoring what's going on on Twitter? That is a loan. That is in itself a
violation of the First Amendment. When you know you're being monitored, whether you're Elon Musk
or just an ordinary Twitter user who didn't just spend $44 billion to buy Twitter. You sometimes think twice
before you say what you have planned to say because you know the government is monitoring
you. That's called chilling on the part of the government. That is expressly prohibited by the
First Amendment according to the Supreme Court. The government just should not be, cannot be,
is prohibited from being in the business of monitoring the exercise of free speech,
particularly with respect to the content of free speech. Elon Musk says he's losing advertisers,
but he's gaining followers. He's gaining customers. He's gaining people that are using his product,
which is, of course, what he wants. When Elon Musk learned the gibberish that the White House
press secretary uttered about him and about Twitter, and when Elon Musk learned that the
White House confirmed that it's monitoring Twitter, here's what he said beautifully, succinctly, and right
to the point. This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in
America, tyranny is all that lies ahead. Hear, hear, Elon Musk. You're 100% correct. Free speech
is the linchpin. It is the core of freedom. In America,
you can think as you wish and say what you think and publish what you say, and the government has
no business being involved in it whatsoever, period. End of the story. Joe Biden needs to
know it. This crazy press secretary needs to know it. Elon Musk already knows it. Twitter followers know
it. Thank God Elon Musk has taken over Twitter and it is becoming the marketplace for free ideas.
Let Alex Jones back on. Let anybody say whatever they want. Bury the White House with free ideas.
They don't have the time to do their normal job, much less monitor what's being said on Twitter.
Judge Napolitano, you can't make this up.
Judge Napolitano for judging freedom.
