Hello there, everyone. Judge Andrew Napolitano here for Judging Freedom. Today is Wednesday,
March 16, 2022. It's about 1120 in the morning here on the east coast of the United States.
President Zelensky just concluded about two hours ago a relatively brief but articulate and compelling address to a joint
session of Congress. I'm not sure where the Congress was. It was not in the House of
Representatives. It appeared to be in some large government auditorium, and there appeared to be
about 500 people in the audience. The House of Representatives has slightly under 435 members.
The Senate has 100. One senator has been hospitalized with a
stroke for quite a while, but there was a good crowd there. The speech was very compelling,
very articulate, heart-tugging because it concluded with the scenes that we have all
been seeing on cable television. And of course, he referenced the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
and the terrorist attacks on 9-11. Now, why did he do this? Well, not because he wants to be an
international celebrity, but A, he wants his people to know he's doing everything he can to keep the country going and alive and
intact. B, he requested that the Congress authorize a no-fly zone. Now, in our system of government,
that would be a decision for the president, and the president has indicated he's not going to do
that. What's a no-fly zone? A no-fly zone is a governmental declaration that
no plane may fly in the airspace over a given area. So if President Biden announced a no-fly
zone over Ukraine, the only way to enforce that would be to put American jets in the skies over Ukraine to chase away or scare away or shoot down Russian jets. Well, that, of course,
would lead to a significant escalation of this war and would involve NATO. There's no way to
enforce this no-fly zone unless the Ukrainian Air Force is able to do so, and apparently they're not. I don't blame President
Zelensky for asking for it. What is happening to his country is unthinkable. Vladimir Putin is a
monster and a war criminal. I think I understand why he's doing what he's doing. He believes that Ukraine was stolen from Russia.
I think that belief is historically inaccurate, but I can understand how he got there. But the way he's redressing that belief by slaughtering innocents and attacking civilians is unthinkable. One of my former colleagues from Fox News, Benjamin Hall,
was dual American and UK citizenship, was in an automobile last Friday that was hit by a missile.
In the automobile was his local fixer, his local Ukraine driver, a 24-year-old woman, and his 53-year-old cameraman, a 20-year Fox veteran.
The fixer and the cameraman were killed.
Benjamin is severely injured and may lose one of his legs below the knee and eyesight in one of his eyes.
This is a 39-year-old married father of three, wonderful, brilliant, gifted, fearless, beautiful
human being. Benjamin, we all pray for you. This is just the type of tragedy that happens in war.
If it were a just war, I could understand it. This is a profoundly unjust war,
but the United States cannot be dragged into it. It will get out of control, and it will lead to
World War III, and there's no stomach for American boys to be dying on the Ukraine soil. There's also no just reason for it.
