Starting point is 00:00:00 Heather McDonald has got the juices scoop. You'll be addicted and addicts it fast to the number one tabloid real life podcast. Listen in, listen up. Whoop, woo. Heather McDonald's Juicey Scoot.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. We have a great show, so much to get into, some fun, Bravo News, and some really sad, disturbing Bravo News. And then I was with my guest that you enjoyed last Thursday. He stayed because he has such a juicy story. Maddie Addy is how he's known. Matthew is his name about when he was a personal assistant to the top diva in the world. Maria Carey. And he gives us all the juicy deeds and it was such a great interview. So I saved it for today, but I've got lots to get through right now. All right. If you follow me on social media, I put out a video on Saturday, I believe, or Friday of the most disturbing Bravo news that has ever come out of Bravo News. Now, let me just walk you back and I am going to be careful the way I talk
Starting point is 00:01:26 about this, to protect your ears, you know, and also all of it, but also when I do this, this goes on YouTube, and you have to be kind of careful about how you say it. So Kim and Corey Berman have had their own show for years. You know Kim Zolziak. She was one of the original Real Housewives of Atlanta and just had a huge, great, beautiful personality. When we met her, she was a single mom of two daughters and was very open that she had a sugar daddy named Big Papa. We later found out Big Papa was married the whole time and had a family and recently passed. Okay. She then meets Corey Berman, who was a football player. I believe he was only 24 when they met. She was 31. Everyone always thought she was older, but she had her first child very young. And they got pregnant
Starting point is 00:02:19 with Croy Jr., known as KJ. It was featured on a spin-off, her wedding. Don't be targeted for the wedding. From there, she got pregnant with another child named Cash and then twins, Kaya and Kane. And she would refer to those four kids at the littles, and then the older girls would be part of the show. And the show went on for seven seasons, and it's currently still on peacock, which I'm curious if they're going to pull it down. But maybe not, because they probably got a lot of views this weekend because we are racking our brains. How did this happen to a family that we felt we knew and watched? And what I'm talking about is back in August, KJ was arrested and was held in a Georgia prison up until this weekend where he was now let out on bond, $200,000 bond, which is
Starting point is 00:03:12 meaning coming up with $20,000. He was being held and tried as an adult, which is something that you can do, I guess, in Georgia. And the story was that in April 23rd of 26, a young girl came forward to tell her story the following day that this happened. So a horrible incident happened in a gym changing room with this victim who knew of KJ. And these were an unwanted. attack essay situation that happened to her. And she did everything that they say, why did you wait? She didn't wait. She went to the police and reported it. According to the investigation I've done, that the parents knew about this. Corey knew about it in May. And they didn't know if they were going to let him talk to police or whatever because he was a minor.
Starting point is 00:04:17 and so therefore Kim knew about it in May as well. But it took until August for them to actually make an arrest. That's when we, the public, found out about it. And we were really quite shocked that we knew about this thing with two juveniles. In California, they would most likely have been able to keep this whole thing private, and we wouldn't have known. They do think different things in different states. So what he was charged was.
Starting point is 00:04:47 with was very shocking. Seven felony things, you can look it up. It's very, very shocking. And this, you know, poor young girl, this was her story. And right away, what I found interesting was right away, the day the public knew that he'd been arrested for this in August, Kim, Zulziak, his mother, went on and she referred to this teenage girl as a woman, said that she has made lies in the past. The attorney, I believe there was some reference in that, you know, he took a polygraph and passed. KJ did. There was no physical evidence found of any kind. And this girl has accused other people of this in the past as a troublemaker and that she liked him and he rejected her and therefore
Starting point is 00:05:38 she's making up these lies. Like crazy. So many, lots of speculation. But also there were stories that were coming out and people commenting going, huh, I remember when their youngest daughter, one of the twins, who is around 11 or 12 now, I think she's only 11, was sent to go live with Corey's grandmother in Montana. And there was different stories going around that they just, you know, she wasn't allowed to have a cell phone. She couldn't be around boys. And people wondered boys in her own family or just any boys. Like, what is going on? Is this just like, let's have a fun summer with grandma or is there something bigger going on? So the hearing came up over on Friday.
Starting point is 00:06:26 The hearing came up. His family and attorney are trying to get him out on bond. And the prosecutor would like him to stay in there. And in that prosecutor's statement, she brought up that there were videos found on his phone in a private file. So not only did he know it was that he filmed. it, he put in a private file so nobody could find it and so that he could enjoy it later of him doing the unthinkable with a relative under 11 years old. They didn't say who the relative is.
Starting point is 00:07:04 We don't know the gender of the relative. That's what was put out. Page six was in the courtroom, and that's how we, the public, found out that this existed. Many, they oftentimes, if you are, the show, don't talk about cousins, say we don't know both the parent, both Kim and Corey have at most of their marriage, but estranged from their own relatives, which is interesting because for many years, we saw that Corey never spoke to his parents, that the parents never met his children after the wedding, but enough to when they felt they needed to, they sent their daughter over to live with Corey's grandparents in Montana. So everyone's like speculating what is going on.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Could it be the most unthinkable thing? And it's so sad and why do we know it? Why didn't this prosecutor go in chambers and give that information in her plea to keep them behind bars? Well, everybody's shocked. Kim and Breel, her oldest daughter are wearing matching black dresses. They come out of the courtroom. They have their full hair, wigs done, and they're not speaking, and they leave.
Starting point is 00:08:15 and we find out later that he was released on Bond, even though the victim from April, okay, the girl from the changing room at the gym, like the Equinox, whatever it was, she had a prosecutor read her letter pleading for him to stay behind bars, that she's scared, that she's getting threats, her family's getting threats, because there's probably people who know who she is personally or fans of. of the family or whatever, and she really was scared. But they said, no, we're going to let him out. And he is going to live with Kim, his mother. He will have to only go to virtual school. He cannot be around any children under 16 years old. And the other kids, the three,
Starting point is 00:09:02 the three other kids who are under 16 of Kim and Croix will live with Croix. So this is, then people bring up an old interview in which Ariana, her second oldest daughter, who is on NextGen, who's very likable, well-spoken, has also been on reality TV since she was like seven. She does an interview with Gia Judice, Teresa's daughter, and she's like, I'm worried about those kids. They need help. They are wild.
Starting point is 00:09:29 They all need therapy, especially my little sister. Then we see an old video that Briel did, the oldest daughter who was set to get married in November. And she says, oh my gosh, my brother, KJ, he is so. fast. He really likes the ladies. He's always texting me going, can you sell me $100? I'm with this girl. I'm going to buy her a burger. Can you get me an Uber? Mom and Dad, don't know I'm out, but I'm out and I'm with this girl and the girl who's interviewing her, they're laughing. You know, boys will be boys. And again, people have seen this kid since he was in Kim Zolz Yack's
Starting point is 00:10:07 stomach. And they would joke about his bad behavior and, you know, flipping off the staff and whatever, isn't it funny when a little toddler uses the F word type of thing? But a lot of it, when you watch some of it, was just like a really fun family. They were all really funny. And this was their livelihood. And they went on a big road trip. And so it's crazy. But one of the other things was that Kim spent thousands and thousands of dollars a month on her hair, makeup, plastic surgery, removing different fat things and removing the things. And removing the fat and so you didn't have to work out, wine, gambling. When they finally get divorce and they're separated, the cops were called over 11 times their house. We saw the body cam from the cops. He's
Starting point is 00:10:55 screaming. She's crying. They're both blaming each other saying that they both put them in financial ruin. She's like, he doesn't work. He says she spends the money gambling. He also was just hit with some gambling debt of his own. So he's a gambler too. She's a gambler. It's being clear that she's had to use her daughter's money to pay bills, and the daughters have admitted to that because they have their own careers now in this reality world. And as someone that has just, you know, followed this and watched it and fascinated, I think the reason that everybody that's in this bravo world is so incredibly perplexed and shocked is like, this was a family. Yeah, they were a little wild and eccentric, but how could this happen? You know, is it narcissistic
Starting point is 00:11:41 parents, was it just no supervision? Was it, did the kid have corn on his phone or access to corn? Just add a pee to it, replace it, I can't say it, is, is, you know, and, you know, accessible to the stuff and you think that it's normal or your play acting or acting it out. What's really the most disturbing thing is that we found out that this incident with the young relative that is archived on his phone, video evidence of it, that incident was reported and was looked into by, I guess, CPS or whatever. And he was put under a restriction then with an essay and, you know, all these other things he was supposed to do and seek therapy and everything. So the parents knew this. This is why the little girl went off to grandma. They knew this happened. Maybe they didn't know the
Starting point is 00:12:40 severity of it. Maybe they didn't know that a video existed. Maybe they thought it was something more innocent like his attorney is saying, hair pulling, whatever, just being like a mean, older brother. But they knew about it. They knew that there was already strict restrictions for him in place. And then when this came out in April and they found out about it in May and then he was arrested in August, Kim then went on to try to discredit the year. young victim who said this happened and went right to the police right after. Shocked. So this is what really makes me say she's a piece of shit. She is not a good person, not a good mother. I don't think she protected either one of her children, any of her children. She has
Starting point is 00:13:33 six children. I wonder what this will do for the girls' careers. Does this, does, does, Bravo, just sweep it under the rug? Is there a mandate for no Bravo-type radio or podcast shows to speak about it? Because it, you know, it happened with the Duggards. It happened on another TLC show where it was actually, I think it was the little seven or something, one of those little families with the little people. And it was someone on the crew that did something to one of the small children on the show. Also, you've been working your whole life. Your whole life's been exposed. You never had the option of being famous or not. None of the six kids, including the two girls that are now young adults. They never had the choice. This is how they made the money. And this is where we are
Starting point is 00:14:26 today. And it's just so crazy and depressing. But it had to be discussed. So I'm really curious to know how their lives will proceed, if this wedding will happen, if she'll be able to explain this one away, if she, I think she's done, I don't think she'll ever get another sponsorship. She has another boyfriend. That boyfriend's ex-wife is also dating Corey. There was also an article on TMZ in June after this incident happened, but KJ had not been arrested yet, in which Kim said that Corey is an awful parent, that he has sex with his girlfriend. friend and the kids can hear it, that he also got into a physical altercation with one of their sons and threw him over the couch. But it was dismissed because the boy was a certain size and they
Starting point is 00:15:19 didn't think it was a big deal. But she went on to say it is because it's the child. So they have always been pointing fingers at each other. Croy calls himself a DV survivor, okay, in his, I think in his bio, saying I'm a DV survivor from kids. Kim, what a fucking messed up family to the ompth degree, to the worst extent that you could ever imagine. And we were witness to it. We were watching the Truman show the whole way through. And that is what I think everybody is just like stirring about that is aware of this horrible story. This family is on the brink of civil war on September 18th.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Mobland, the hit original series, is back on Paramount Plus. We are the Harrogans. Don't know the land? And Google us. From the underworld of Guy Ritchie. Do you want to step up the ladder? I won't comment. Dead. Starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. Do I have to do everything myself?
Starting point is 00:16:25 You want to want! I'll give you a month! That new season hits September 18th on Paramount Plus. I'm Darman, and this is what happens next. Each week on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people. who have faced tremendous setbacks, and yet somehow have found a way to turn them into their greatest strengths. Life is one long lesson of chaos.
Starting point is 00:16:49 I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints filed against me. When your free will was about to be taken from you, what would you do if it was given back? Where did that need come from where you thought that you had to succeed in order to feel loved? He said, I have a work dad, I need a home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he started crying. Everybody in life encounters hardships.
Starting point is 00:17:09 What defines them is not those hard moments that they go through. It's about what happens next. I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable every day was. You're worth the work. Listen, Dar, I'm not going to pull punches. You can use your voice even if it's shaped. The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Only one question matters. What happens next? Okay. I do want to get into some fun now. Okay, some people are enjoying Orange County a little bit more, but I just have to continue on with the fascination of Vicki's lack of caring about doing this job. So Vicki takes just a couple of the girls, just Jen, Emily, and Shannon Bador to a one night in her new home that she bought with her now boyfriend, Mike, in Le Quinta. So she sold her big house with the, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:17 with the waterfall and the grata. She got a very nice, cute house in Newport that she has. Then she has her condo in Porto Vajara. We're going to Mexico. And then she has now this place in Likita that she, I believe, co-owns with the boyfriend. And they have this slumber party. And it is just the most uncomfortable thing to watch. Like, It will trigger you to any time you were invited to your friend's house when you were a teenager and the mean dad came home. And everyone had to walk on eggshells and they thought the mean dad was like on a business trip and he shows up.
Starting point is 00:18:53 And they're like, oh, shit. This happens. This happens even if you're not a teenager and you're married to a grump bitump that you're scared of. Okay. And I don't know why because he seems pretty nice. But I just think she is like, why did I do this? I can't talk about a relationship.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Leave it alone. Leave it alone. And she's like, stop it, seven, we're not going to talk. We're not going to we're not talking anywhere. And Emily's like, why are we playing the quiet game? Why can't I just, why can't we speak, Vicky? Like, what, we're not little kids. We're not your children. We're going to go to the driving rate and then we're going to come home and go in the jacuzzi and then we're going to make pizza. Then we're going to whip it up. I'm going to take you some real fun places. So I'm like, cool, they're going to the nest. Okay, we're going to finally see some fun. No, they didn't. They had a lame time trying to golf at a public course. And then they come back to the house and they're swimming around in the pool for a little bit. And then once again, they try to have a
Starting point is 00:19:50 conversation. And Vicki's like, why, why are you talking to me? Why are you talking to me? And she gets up and they're like, what is going on? And now they have to go and act like they want to make these pizzas. And I'm like, oh my God. And they're in their matching pajamas that Shannon did made for them. And I'm like, this is just so depressing. And then all of a sudden, the boyfriend comes home. She must have called him or something. He was at the casino. And to say, like, I'm miserable.
Starting point is 00:20:21 Come home. And they're like, oh, my God, what do we do? Let's just leave. Let's just leave. I have been in a situation of just, let's just leave. The tension between the couple. And really it's what made me then go get my own place in Lakeita. because I was like, I don't ever want to be with the mean dad walking on eggshells.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Like, this is not worth it. I don't care how nice your house is. I don't know how many pizzas you make. And then she goes, I'm taking up my bike. I'm taking up my bike. Get the fuck out of my house. I want everyone out of here after I hit up the pool for $400. It cost me $400 to hit up the call for those bitches.
Starting point is 00:20:59 And they're like, oh my God. Like, it was just the most unwelcoming. And the other girls went to Solving, which is like this little Dutch. that is just like Dork City and they were puddling bikes. I mean, it's cute, whatever. I'm sorry to the Solving, juicy scupers. You can go. It was, but you really just need to focus on how, and listen, I am entertained by Vicky. I'm totally, people like, get her off my screen. I don't know. I'm entertained by how much she regrets doing this thing and how quickly she is like clocking in and clocking out of working at the Real Housewives of DMV. She is just like, I'm done, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:21:38 It's the time of clock. And then she does the same thing at Ultimate Girls Trip. She's like, you know, I just, no one's talking to me. I don't like my wig. I just want to go home, put it in some really nice low things and just go to bed. And oh, I also want to say, though, this crazy thing that happened in the OC. An OC woman was arrested for allegedly stealing over $400,000 from our high school football team. Now, she needs some hair extensions, okay? She needs a spray tan. But I put this post up and I said, I think we found our new Real Housewives O.C.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Like, we haven't had like a solid Real HouseWive OC criminal, like criminal per se. That's been in Salt Lake. That's been in Jersey. That's been in, you know, Atlanta, there's been crying. Like, we need... So anyway, if you're looking for a new housewife, we'll get her on the O-Zempic, we'll get some hair extensions,
Starting point is 00:22:39 some giant teeth, and she can make this show a little more exciting. Getting back to Ultimate Girl's Trip, well, Luann got real buzzed. And she was very entertaining, too, but she wouldn't stop talking. And she's like, you know, I'm a diva. I'm a diva, and I like to sing about divas.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Divas. mirror on, lipstick on, look at my face. Everybody can talk about feeling great. Hmm, hello. And she's like, these guys who are clearly gay that are like they're serving them on a mojito. She's like, I like your tie. I like your chest with just a tie. I'm classy thing. And they were kind of annoyed by her obnoxiousness. But, you know, it's a fun show. I love mixing up all the girls. I think it's great for the following BravoCon. it's not this fall, it's the next fall. Because there'll be stuff that goes on with these girls, that that is what works.
Starting point is 00:23:36 When they all get together from Denver franchises, they have beef, they've talked shit about each other. We kind of need it. And so I think there'll be a lot more of these ultimate girl trips. This works. This really works. So they're having fun there. Oh, well, speaking of ultimate girls trips, you know, we have still, we are still trying
Starting point is 00:23:57 to get our professional. class action lawsuit against the people that are holding the real housewives of Morocco from us, okay, because we still want to see what happened in the bathroom with Grandma Caroline Manzo and Brandy Glanville, who is an out bisexual woman. What happened? And she is going now and talking about it, which is quite shocked about Caroline was. Her lawsuit is still happening. In the meantime, time Brandy Glanville, you know, developed a worm that was in her face and sometimes it's gone and sometimes it comes back and she hasn't been able to get any of these other little one-off TV shows since this incident because it made her look bad, like that she couldn't be trusted
Starting point is 00:24:50 keeping her hands to herself. And so she has started a go-fund me for herself. And a lot of the housewives have contributed to it. And she's embarrassed by it, but she needs the money. And again, it's crazy when you think about these women that have been on, given us so much, been on TV shows for years and years and years, reruns running all the time on Peacock, and they don't have a pot to pissing. They don't. And so, you know, she has a go fund me and Kyle gave to it. Camille and a couple other women are giving to it and she needs it, I guess, to take care of the worm to get her face right. You know, she, she is funny. She is talented. It's just a really sad thing. And it really spiraled once she was accused of this, which she always said was funny and mutually silly,
Starting point is 00:25:46 you know, and she was not trying to do anything that would, you know, end the show or whatever. So, with Caroline Manzo. But that's still going on and we still. have yet to see that footage. Real Housewives of New York City premiered. And I mean, I think it was fun. It started out with the ultimate Real Housewife. And that is Martha Stewart because she gets her makeup done by Daisy, the makeup artist. And she shows up already with half of a makeup done. So I assume she went there, did half the makeup and then walked outside the door. And then they're like, okay, act. And knocking on the door, hello? Well, Daisy, what are you got here?
Starting point is 00:26:29 A store-bought pie. What are you doing having a store-bought pie? Oh, I could teach you how to make an apple pie. All right, make me beautiful. Do my face just the way I like it. I'm going to a lovely luncheon today, and I just want to look good. And so that's how it starts out. What's kind of interesting about the cast is not everybody's rich.
Starting point is 00:26:50 She's a makeup artist. Her husband's a hairdresser. They live in a like a two-bedroom apartment. But then there's like this new girl who's married to a billionaire and she has an island. And then we see them go to the island in future episodes. And they're all bitching saying this island's not as great as, you know, the Epstein one. I don't know what they're saying. But then we also have Carol, Radswell, who comes back to the show.
Starting point is 00:27:13 And that comes up about, you know, the fact that she had her photo for her book taken by Gis Lane. And how did that ever come about? Well, we know because she said it on Juicy Scoop, what, six, seven years ago? Yeah, I asked her about it then. And we got all into the story then. So I got the exclusive back then. Her story has never changed. And I find that really interesting. But she has this red truck. I have been in the red Jeep that she keeps in New York City. And yes, she had a cone in the back for when she has to do the street cleaning and the parking. It is pretty fun. We didn't see her that much. They did like an opening, like a sexicity, which I kind of like. Nobody is missing Bryn who's like, Mm, how fuck your dad. Now, actually, I prefer your husband.
Starting point is 00:28:06 What? I'm joking. She's gone. The other girl who was a art lesbian married to a lesbian. She's gone. I can't remember her name. Rachel Rochelle. Anyway, she's gone.
Starting point is 00:28:21 And we also, Jenna. Jenna fucking lines that everyone lost their shit over with her gray greasy hair and her lack of interest. She's gone, thank God. And so they kept Jessel, Aaron, and Cy, who's now getting divorced. And they all look great. They all have a lot of style. And we'll see how the show goes. You know, I think it could be kind of fun. So that's what's happening there. Oh, there's this one girl named Haley Haley Glassman. And her biggest claim to fame
Starting point is 00:28:58 is that she dated John Gosselin of 8 plus 8 because her dad was a plastic surgeon who did Kate's tummy tuck after giving birth to the sex tuplets or whatever. And so then they broke up and she started dating John
Starting point is 00:29:15 and she said it was awful because they said that she like broke up their marriage. Well now she has extreme plastic surgery, kind of like a Larsa Pippin, where it's like I, you put the old face of what she dated John Gosselin next to this current one and you're like, this is, it looks like a head transplant. Like they literally, she got cheekbones and she looks so different, not bad looking, just so
Starting point is 00:29:40 different. She actually kind of, yeah, she looks, she looks like she's like a lot older too, I think. But anyway, she has a husband that we don't see. So she got an apartment. She said she has a lavender marriage and she has girlfriends and then she rollerblades. I don't really know what she's there for. But it's kind of weird. It's kind of a weird storyline.
Starting point is 00:30:02 She's kind of a cuck. She's high all the time off of like weed gummies. And so there you go. I think they were just excited to have a, I mean, they had a lot of lesbians last time. So I think this is, she says it's a lavender marriage. So I don't know if he's gay too. I don't know what she lives off of it. I don't know if she just lives off of her parents, but she looks so different.
Starting point is 00:30:26 It's like, it's like the craziest thing. Okay. Speaking of crazy stuff, big news. Sister Wives is coming back. Now, I know I haven't covered it in the last couple years, but apparently, according to people, Cody Brown and wife Rob Brown not returning to Sister Wives season 21 after 16 years on the show. And the trailer has the three wives, Mary Christine and Janelle, talking,
Starting point is 00:30:50 how they just found out that they are going to film with them. Some people in the comments think they're just never going to film with them in the same room, but it sounds like they really might be done forever. The girls are all dating people. Christine's married. Janelle's in love. I don't know. I don't know if it'll be that exciting without them. But good for the sister wives. we're all happy to find them not talking about coyot pass or the kidney that, Cody that said, it's like a knife in my kidney. We're done apparently, but I don't believe it. I don't believe it.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I think they will pop up him and Robin. I was watching The Mormon Wife Season 5. Let me just tell you. I don't know if I'm going to continue, but oh my God, I'm going to, I cover these stories so you guys don't have to watch them. I cover these shows. Taylor, Frankie Paul. all. She is, she was the breakout star because she let the world know that she had this little
Starting point is 00:31:54 group of Mormon moms and they started swinging. Okay. So that's how the show got picked up. She has two kids with her first husband. She gets divorced from him because she was a swinger. She finds this other guy who is named Dakota. They have a baby name ever. And they're on and off, on and off, on and off. And then she goes and does the bachelorette. And she comes back. back and they let us see it, that she comes back engaged from a guy from the Bachelorette. She went with the three sweets. She went screwed all three guys that looked like, picked the best one, which was Doug, came back and then started sleeping with her baby daddy number two. Then she tells the girls, but I'm actually really in love with this guy that I dated before I went
Starting point is 00:32:40 on the Bachelorette who's some TikTok country singer. And a couple of the girls are like, wow, okay, this is what I guess the world is going to say makes you so relatable. It's juicy, but it's like, when do you have time to like deal with your three kids? You're like juggling so many guys. And that is when I think because she was screwing her baby daddy number two, Dakota, that's when the video that was so shocking that came out while they're filming this show. While they're filming all this, I think we will see the fact that the video of her freaking out, throwing the bars tools in which one, not on purpose, but hit her daughter's forehead or something, that got out there and they decided to shut down the Bachelorette altogether. This is all under the ABC Hulu, Disney umbrella. maybe once we see it all and realize the behind the scenes and where it came from,
Starting point is 00:33:42 maybe we'll see the Bachelorette, maybe we'll see the real housewives of Morocco. I don't know. But the amount of sex that these people have and the cheating that goes on, I've never, how are they, they like went so, so what 80 with this Mormon, situation. And like there's this other girl that made an appearance on the show who was best friends with this one girl, Miranda, and then she started sleeping with her ex-husband named Chase. Chase was also the one that was flirty with Taylor or they were the ones swinging. I mean, it is just, I don't know if they're using condoms. I don't know if they're getting,
Starting point is 00:34:30 you know, they should be seriously, the producers need to be doing, you know, some what do you call it? STD test, the way they did back in the 90s on the vivid sets, okay? Because like, I don't even know what's happening here. And none of them are, you know, super bright or intelligent, but they're pretty to look at. They have a lot of fake hair, a lot of plastic surgery. This one girl's Lela's boobs are just so uncomfortably hard. And, but good for them. Good for them. They're on TV. And, oh, and then Todd Crissly, he got in the press because he was doing his show. And he has a granddaughter who is black.
Starting point is 00:35:19 And he tells off some person from his, like, high school of saying that they somehow used the drogatory term about his beautiful granddaughter, who we also saw in the show when all the kids were being featured, so was this little grand. granddaughter. And he's like, how dare you? You, who's big as a houseboat, need to be concerned about your dagger-dike daughter. And all of you, I was knuckles deep inside of you back in high school. So stop acting like you're so pristine. And I was like, oh, my God. Anyway, that's why people love him. Okay. And that's why we still question. Is he the horniest, straightest man in the world? That was, like he said, knuckles deep in all these bitches back in high school.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Or is he what he appears to be? Which is not that. But one thing is, he's a great grandpa. So we love that. Sad news for, you know, in the Hayden Penitier, penitier story, according to TMZ, she did take one fatal pill of fentanylaced oxy. and she died. Please, that is just, oh my God, that is the scariest thing. This was not her intention.
Starting point is 00:36:45 This is what's so scary about illegal drugs and pharmaceutical drugs and how they get mixed up and how the wrong people are putting it out. And it's just a horrible, horrible thing. All right, you guys, I'm really excited. I am back on the road. Everybody can buy my tickets to my show at Heather MacDonald.net. I'm coming to Cobbs, October 2nd and 3rd. And then I'm coming to the Desert Ridge Improv in Phoenix, October 9th and 10th. And then November 14th, I'll be in San Diego at the Magnolia El Cajon, beautiful theater. Get your tickets. Gather your girls. Good. There's meet and greets for all of these shows. I can't wait to see you. This is new, funny, saved the juicy stories, lots of impressions. I'm going to be taking requests from you guys, what you want to see at the show.
Starting point is 00:37:32 It's going to be so good. Come see me. And now for a super juicy, true story from being an assistant to the one and only diva. Mara Carrie, let's go. Hello and welcome to juicy scoop. I am really excited to talk to my guest. You remember before as an expert in a very juicy crime, but he has such a juicy life. Welcome.
Starting point is 00:37:57 We're going to talk more with Matthew Addison, known as Maddie Addy Addy, on TikTok, but when we started to talk, obviously, hi, welcome. I found you more about the Lindsay Clancy case. But then when we were talking, I was like, well, what's your background? And you're like, oh, just was an assistant to Mariah Carey for three years. I'm like, what? You're like, yeah, I wrote a book about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Tell me a little bit how that even came about. That's fascinating. Yeah. So I was Mariah Carey's assistant for two, just to cover myself for two years. I worked. What years was this? This was like end of 2016 through 2018. So it was during like that infamous New Year's Eve performance that she had where her mic or she wasn't singing and she was just like walking back and forth on stage. Do you remember that?
Starting point is 00:38:46 I kind of do. When was she? When did she have the reality show? It was I was with her not when it was filming, but when it was airing. So still during that whole era. That was so crazy that she agreed to do a reality show. So I believe. She was like engaged to that billionaire or something.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Yes. That was the whole time when I was with her was very interesting because it was the end of the marriage to Nick Cannon and the divorce and her meeting James Packer and then ultimately leaving him for the backup dancer. So that was like my whole era. So there was something happening all the time. But I got that job because I was working front desk at a salon in Beverly Hills. And there's so many women in the entertainment industry or celebrities that come in. And I'd been there for five years and I was approaching my late 20s and everybody would ask me all the time. They would just be like, what do you want to do?
Starting point is 00:39:36 How can I help you? And I was always like, I don't know. I'm just like living in L.A. trying to figure it out. And I quit on a whim one day and my best friend who helps me run the day to day of my company now. But she was an esthetician at the salon. So she went to wax Mariah and her manager that night. And she was like, Matt just randomly quit today. And she was like, the manager was like,
Starting point is 00:39:59 oh my god I love Matt and Mariah needs a new assistant and so I went and interviewed for the job obviously it was not that cut and dry and simple I had to be rescheduled and weighed and all the things but I went and met her in her home at the time in Calabasasas the oaks like the oaks
Starting point is 00:40:18 within the oaks the double gates yeah James Packer had leased that house and it was like too how did they even meet it oh it seemed so weird because he was, you know, she went from Nick Cannon, who was like, her age or younger, cute, in the business to like this older, what was his story? He was like a billionaire or a businessman? What was he? Billionaire? I don't even remember what his... And he was older and it didn't really seem like,
Starting point is 00:40:44 not too much older. Prior to him, she was married quite young to Tommy. Tommy Matola. Yeah. And he kind of got revealed later that she was, you know, sort of this princess trapped in. the castle and she was this up and coming star and fell for the music manager the record producer and didn't have kids with him got out of that
Starting point is 00:41:10 then had her twins with the canon and so then I was like is she just like wanting to quit working like it was I'm like was she just trying to marry a billionaire to like have a lavish life and not and live off the Christmas song money or like what
Starting point is 00:41:27 so you know when I was with her like every she wasn't no like she wasn't the queen of christmas like everybody knew that they loved all i want for christmas as you but it wasn't like when i was with her that was starting to build and then it just exploded but yeah i mean they were introduced through brett ratner oh yeah the director yeah so they james was very good i know james was very good friends with him and then brett was very good friends with maria's manager at the time stella so that's sort of how it all you did I met Stella right after Chelsea lately. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:03 And then I think she said she was, she had put together that reality show and she was on it. She was. And yeah, and then they didn't end on good terms. No, that ended very bad. So I was there throughout that entire process. And, you know, like I said, it just so many things happened during the course of my employment that I was just like, nobody would ever believe this stuff in a million years. like nobody would believe this stuff. This is 10 times crazier than the Devil Wears product.
Starting point is 00:42:33 So I wrote it. How did you end working there, though? So basically what happened is, and I touch on this in my book, and it actually was in some of those, it was in some of those lawsuits. The Last Living Diva, a novel. I'm in the process of changing my last name. That's why it says Stevens. Stevens is my born last name. Oh, it is.
Starting point is 00:42:55 It's my dad's last name and we don't have a relationship anymore. Okay, but it's, yeah. He craved the spotlight. Now he's drowning in the shadows. Yeah. So it took me seven years. I'm really excited to read this. Ever done.
Starting point is 00:43:09 Yeah. Seriously. Even if you just read the first two pages, you're going to be like, what the, like, it's. Like I said, I met, I met still. I remember these things. I have like, like, you know, a great memory for like pop culture, unnecessary things. And so, you know, I'm very curious. I went to see Mariah perform and, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:35 she always sounded great, but it was like, you know, I heard different things about that they would change the tag in the clothes because she was gaining weight and they wanted her to think that she was still a size four or six and, but maybe they got a bigger size. And, you know, so that she would just not get upset. So I definitely experienced, you know, people operating in a certain way around her. And I often would say that my difficulties with the job was actually never her. It was all of the people around because I felt like they would develop what I called Mariah Carey syndrome where they started to believe they were Mariah Carey because of their proximity to her.
Starting point is 00:44:22 They were entitled to things or they should be able to go to this place or I should. get a press discount at Gucci because I work for her. Like everything, it was like very grabby, grabby. You know, it's lived in this world for a long time. That is very, that's a very typical syndrome. Mm-hmm. They believe they're entitled because of their proximity to celebrity for sure. That is so interesting.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Yeah. It's, it's bizarre. It's very bizarre. So that was the most difficult part of the job for me was she, for the most part, for the most part was very wonderful to me what the job really educated me on and she has spoken about this only once publicly but she has bipolar disorder so that is one of the things too that really like grabbed my attention with the lindsay case was i was like this sounds and feels familiar to me i know about this um but when you're not well you can allow the wrong people into your life
Starting point is 00:45:21 that wind up taking advantage of you and and and everyone it felt at the time was in constant competition to, I'm the closest person to her. And when you're easily influenced with a mental health condition like that, too, it's like sometimes they trust the last person that they listen to. As far as like how things really ended, and again, some of this stuff is online. But I was one of three assistants.
Starting point is 00:45:48 But the show had already filmed. Yes, but it was airing. Then you were hired while it was airing. And it only, how many? It aired for what, like two months, eight episodes? Yeah, eight episodes. And weren't they like on a cruise the whole time or something? Like, I remember there being like yachts and ships and stuff.
Starting point is 00:46:04 So the first episode I thought was actually really good and fascinating and it was like painting that picture of what you think or would want Mariah Carey's life to look like. She's like living on a yacht. And then James Packer has another yacht that's next to her. Yes, yes. I remember that. Because she's a night owl. And like they can have their time like separate. But like, and then of course hers is chaos with like the entourage and.
Starting point is 00:46:25 everything happening over there. But then it sort of like turned into this weird scripted like this is how Mariah and the backup dancer fell in love. Like it just became very it felt scripted cheesy, weird like not
Starting point is 00:46:41 who she is were, but I believe what happened was the manager had a deal with Bune and Murray that she had to fulfill. The reality show production company. And there was like overlap with her starting to be
Starting point is 00:46:57 Mariah's manager and I believe she talked her into doing something and there was this whole talk of them trying to paint it as this is a docu-series it's not a reality show it was on E right yeah so it definitely became something I don't think Mariah necessarily wanted it to be and I don't think she never would have done that had that not been her manager at the time for sure yeah because I mean now looking back it's like
Starting point is 00:47:20 what were you thinking it's the same thing like when Brittany and Kethe did that reality show. Chaotic. On UPN. It was on UPN. It was on UPS. What are you thinking?
Starting point is 00:47:33 It was bizarre. Who convinced you that this would be a wise, that it was necessary? And you know who convinced them? Some person in their circle that had an ulterior motive to keep their longevity
Starting point is 00:47:48 in the business going somehow because somebody would look at it and go, you don't need this. She didn't... People who do reality shows are not at your level. And, you know, you're not coming down enough that you need it to pay the mortgage. Right. Like, the only time you do a reality show is when you're coming up or when you've really come down and like you, you are on your third family, you're, you know, 65, you have too many kids.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And you're like, all right, let's bring the cameras into Calabasas and we'll try to make the... I mean, that's when you don't do it when you're like... Her manager definitely had been trying to talk her into doing it. And again, back to, you know, you're not in a right frame of mind or someone with her, one, her mental health condition, but also with that level of fame. Like, there's so few people that have, like, that are that famous, that it's, it's very isolating. Unless you're like the Kardashians and you have a family of people around you who relate to it, I just feel like she didn't have a lot of friends and then becomes easily. influenced or wants to appease someone or, you know, it's easy. It's you're getting X amount of money or, but.
Starting point is 00:49:02 You know, we often talk about the Kardashians and the truth is why they are so successful is exactly what you said. Yeah. One girl, her head could never blow up even, you know, and now they all are equally like, you know, whether it's skims or Courtney's business. or good American or the popcorn or they all have something that's so special to themselves and they all and they still are sisters and there's no estrangement there's no you know and you're right but when you're just become the star and your own and you're so you know and your family isn't
Starting point is 00:49:44 in it or you try to bring them in it and they're like resentful and there was a moment that we had for her birth sorry she doesn't call it her birthday she calls it her anniversary because she doesn't acknowledge time I love that. So there was a moment though for her anniversary where we were going to Mexico for it to celebrate. And I remember getting on the plane and looking around and being like, every single person on this plane is on payroll. And like that's just sad. Like that's just sad that like every single person coming here is getting paid, you know, to not.
Starting point is 00:50:16 That's just like a different level of isolation. And if you are struggling with your mental health on top of that, the average person is already wondering, Does this person really like me or care about me or are they around for the benefits of it? You know? And it just felt like at least during that period of time, she didn't have people who didn't have an ulterior motive around. So you were saying, so what happened with you? So you worked for a couple years. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:41 And what was that like? What is it like to be an assistant with someone like that? Like as far as like your travel, are you on the clock all the time? Like how do you say, hey, I need to fly home or I want to, I want to have. have, you know, these four days off so I can go to a wedding. Like, how does that work? So in the beginning, it definitely felt like everything was a test. Like I was brought in to like, okay, work this party and, you know, just kind of like, what do I do? And just talking to other staff because it was, you know, when you talk about like an extreme celebrity entourage, like she's the epitome of that.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Of course, there's like glam and hair and makeup and wardrobe and security for the kids and security for her and security for the property and, you know, nannies. And there's just so much. And there's just so many people. So I definitely was tested at first and then it became I was like administrative assistant. So I'd work in the office like under her bedroom like on the desk like doing the schedule and stuff. And as trust was gained, I sort of, you know, I would advance to locations ahead of her to make sure her hotel rooms were set up before she arrived. So she felt at home and by the end of it. What were some of the things that you that she would want? Because everyone always talks about the writer and stuff. Yeah. And I'm like even when I go do stand up,
Starting point is 00:51:54 it's like they're like well like sometimes I'll go to a theater and there's just like some sad like meat and cheese plate and I go yeah what is this and I forgot that whatever I had some writer at one time I said oh can we just have like a deli platter yes but it's like now I know it's like now I go you know what we will get dinner or our own I just need some diet coax and some waters and like maybe a straw and you know but but that's That's always so interesting because I'm like, people always make such a big deal about someone's writer. I'm like, well, you can have white roses if that's what makes you happy. Why not? You know, there was, to me, I never felt like, I don't know, I never felt like anything was that crazy for the average person. Maybe they would think it was crazy having all these things. But for me, it was creating a sense of stability for her when we were, especially being on tour and on the road. And there were things like she likes a Joe Malone red rose candle or whatever. But the most, I guess, extravagant things was she liked to have a lot of humidifiers for her voice. Which that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:53:00 Yeah. But there wasn't anything, if anything, like I felt like I was doing extra thing. Like I was like, you know, if a recent event happened, I'd be printing out pictures of her with the kids or wherever it was and, you know, framing them so they'd be in her room. Or she does love orchids or there were certain things. But to me, it never felt excessive. There were not things like I've read things, you know, I think there was a joke about this. Sorry, in a J-Lo movie. This is the wrong time to bring her up.
Starting point is 00:53:28 But where she goes, I don't know her? Yes. It was about J-Lo. Yes, that was about J-Lo. So there was a, in one of her movies, there was something about, you know, she only wants the brown M&Ms because they don't have artificial. There was nothing like that. There was nothing that felt weird or extreme or. I feel like the things that.
Starting point is 00:53:50 that people kind of act are extreme. But again, if you are doing a show at a theater that night, they'll either agree to it or it'll come out of your budget. Like I know that when I do a theater show, the times that I've gotten the sad turkey thing, not until I like read the whole thing that I realized that was my $200 catering. And I could have just said,
Starting point is 00:54:12 I don't want any catering, add the $200 to my bill. And then I was like, oh, well, I'm glad I finally read this after 10 years, you know. Yeah. And that was something that I learned. and as I went along to just like what you're saying. If you don't pay attention to it and update it, people are just going to keep giving it.
Starting point is 00:54:24 They'll keep buying you the same thing over and over and over again when maybe you don't want it, need it, know about it. But like I would think if for somebody that, whatever, they're on the road, and I would think this would be dumb and wasteful, is like, say, sitting here, this is the green room at the theater. And I'm like, no, every theater on my tour, I want white restoration hardware couches. and they have to be this version of the white couches.
Starting point is 00:54:54 So however you get that shipped to Minneapolis, that's what the green room should look like. I don't know anybody that does that. But maybe there's somebody, but it would be wasteful and it would be dumb because somehow unless you sold out and they made so much extra money, you're going to have to pay for those couches. Yeah. So when we were on the road, obviously if we were doing a tour, she has all of her dressing room stuff that is brought from venue to venue to venue. venue. But for the average thing, like, I never really felt like, or I ended that job thinking, like the diva thing with her feels like a persona in the same way with Paris. She has the voice. You know, it's like almost a suit of armor or a way to protect herself, as opposed to it
Starting point is 00:55:39 being genuinely or authentically who she is. And again, it's sort of the people around her who then prop this up to make it sort of bigger than what it really. is. That's also really interesting because, you know, she has been famous and such a diva with a beautiful voice and for so long. And when she came up, this whole world now of being 100% authentic online and being Alex Earl who's just crying about her boyfriend with a Zit Patch on her face. And even though she's gorgeous one minute, she's going to show you looking puffy and hung over the next. Yeah. You have to be authentic. authentic authentic, well, 40, 30 years ago when she really rose, no, we didn't, we weren't
Starting point is 00:56:26 watching you get ready with me. We didn't know what you're going to wear to the Oscars until you arrived. Yeah. Like, that is a persona. You only did an Oprah interview every three years. And we didn't know what else was happening or only if it was in People magazine, you know, like. And then still you're elusive and evasive about it. You're not really a, you know, somebody says you have a mental breakdown. You're not actually talking about what happened. You're saying it was exhaustion and you just needed an ivy bag you know like it's yeah it's very different now and i noticed that there sort of was this period where she finally did do the people magazine which this was at the end of my towards the end of my employment because she was living in constant fear of
Starting point is 00:57:04 being outed by people and ultimately what happened for what for people experiencing her during a manic episode so sort of what you would see you know yeah i don't know who else to compare this to but like what you would see from conier west it's something something like that would happen and then the house goes on lockdown. And so then there's this small group of people who know what's happening and see what's happening and just fear of getting of that coming out. So I believe that's why she spoke on it at the time. And ultimately what happened at the end of my employment was there was another assistant
Starting point is 00:57:38 who had been recording her without her knowledge. Like video or audio? So when she's in this manic state and there was a moment when we were on the tour bus and the assistant said to me, this assistant was in danger basically of being fired. She didn't like her. She didn't want her around. And she just was not a good person, if I'm being honest. Well, you know, not if she's filming her. Right. So she winds up showing me this video. And she was basically like, I dare her to fire me. If she does, I'm going to sell this. And I'm going to buy a house. And we would sleep in her guest house sometimes. And she was like, so, and then you can sleep in my guest
Starting point is 00:58:16 house. And I was like, what the fuck? So she was filming her in compromising positions. And I basically came forward because I was living with this fear of one, I didn't want to lose my job. I wanted to keep my job. And this girl, actually, I'll just say this. Who cares? This girl had already sued James Packer and won. So she wound up coming for James Packer. So I'm sure you've heard about this, but Mariah had a settlement with James Packer, which was in the press reported as an inconvenience fee for him wasting her time. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:54 Engaged with it, and they get married or something? They didn't get married. People don't know this, but the wedding was like happening, happening. Like her makeup artist landed in Fiji and it was happening. And allegedly, his James Packer's team rerouted his jet so that way he could not go to Fiji and marry her. So where was I going with this? About the inconvenience fee.
Starting point is 00:59:19 Oh, the inconvenience fee. So ultimately she went up to doing him. So she had a settlement for that. She got a settlement with that. And in the midst of all of this, the assistant, the other assistant came forward and said that James Packer was sexually harassing her, all of these things. And if you saw this girl, you would just, you would laugh. But I guess when you have that much money, sometimes you do just want things to go away. and ultimately she got a $500,000 settlement out of this guy as an assistant.
Starting point is 00:59:48 She got $500,000 settlement. And part of the deal was that she couldn't later come forward then with Mariah and sue her, which ultimately she did wind up suing Mariah because I wound up coming to Mariah and saying, listen, this girl's been recording you without your knowledge, this is what's happening, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I think she was so, I think she was very embarrassed at the time with, everything that happened and everybody, everybody that saw everything, and she just sort of cleared house. I was still in communication with her and her team, like, over the next few years, because
Starting point is 01:00:24 I was used in a lot of lawsuits and depositions and just to say what I saw and what happened. And it wasn't on bad terms. Her son, like, follows me on TikTok and sees all my stuff. And I, like I said, I don't- The old assistant's son. Oh, no, sorry, Mariah son-oh. Okay. They're like teenagers now. Yeah, they're like, they have to be 15 now, which is so crazy. They always seem like they're really cute and adjusted. I never in my life ever thought like, or I was always like if I'm with somebody who really wants kids, like maybe then I would have kids or maybe I would be like a stepmom. I could see myself doing that. But I never had the desire, but Rocky especially, he's so funny. And also they were like five years old at the time,
Starting point is 01:01:11 but they're surrounded by adults all the time. So they spoke like adults. Like the things that they would say so funny, so quick, so witty. And yeah, it was, she really was like great to work for it. It was the people who were around. And it just gave me like a really clear picture because I'm the kid who grew up watching, you know, lifestyles of the rich and famous or the fabulous life on VH1 and being like, oh my God, this is amazing, like what their lives must be like.
Starting point is 01:01:40 I remember watching all that stuff too and seeing how many people are in a house every day and you know it is scary even when you get to a certain level and I've talked to people that are like reality stars and stuff
Starting point is 01:01:55 how it is a terrifying thing to hire someone to be your personal assistant because especially in this world they want to be it and they can they act like they don't want to be famous but then they do. Yes.
Starting point is 01:02:12 And then you're kind of like, well, wait a minute. And then your audience might know who the assistant is. And then when you end that relationship, it's like your, you know, Corrella DeVille and you took her and you fed her to animals or something. You're like, no, like it just the relationship ended. She moved on or it wasn't working out. Or I felt like she, you know, was not as into it as before or whatever. or she has other aspirations or she's getting a little bored.
Starting point is 01:02:42 All that can happen. But then you have to like, you know, like one housewife, Sutton Brown at Real House with Beverly Hills. She ended a relationship with her guy. And they make such a big deal out of that. They bring it up in every season. And she's just like. I mean, obviously something happened, but it's, yeah, what, I mean. But I mean, she told me what happened.
Starting point is 01:03:07 And it's nothing. It's nothing other than what she said. It's just like he wasn't really doing her great job. I mean, he seemed like he liked the attention. Yeah, but she didn't have a problem with that. It's just like, I think it just, you know, I remember I said, let me guess what happened. He became feeling he's entitled.
Starting point is 01:03:26 He got one too many DM saying you should have your own show. And I let me guess he was probably not really even doing his job the way he used to. Right. And you spoke to your. business person and they said it's best that you just probably give him two weeks and leave and she pretty much without telling me so was like yeah like yeah and so then it's like oh my god what happened like i don't think little sutton brown was like beating him up like it just sometimes you're like i don't know that i want this person who's not my husband or my child around me 24-7 i don't
Starting point is 01:04:01 feel like they have my best interests anymore and that's a hard thing and then when you have like 12 of those people because you have this big house and you have the house manager and you have the nannies and you have the person that's organizing the rooms and then they're like getting in a fight with the hairdresser and they're like you better not get me fucking fire like there's all the interior. It's very bizarre. It's it's I definitely when I started the job I was coming in thinking I'm like oh this is like a teen like this is we're all working together to make her happy or something and it was just not. like that. It was it was very dark like a lot of like yeah backstabbing like lying. You have yeah the backstabbing to be to stay on the totem pole like I mean even when I you know worked on this TV show you know I could see that happening where for six months this person is the top dog you're in then they're out and then you could and the way you could subtly say something
Starting point is 01:05:03 and to get her to think this or do this. And, you know, like you're not going on the jet this weekend. You're not going on the yacht. You're not invited to do this. And so, I mean, I kind of had that experience. I wasn't the assistant, but, you know, I was on a TV show writing. And there was definitely a hierarchy. And it changed over the eight years where in the beginning I was, you know, the BFF person and the staff.
Starting point is 01:05:32 Yeah. And then, you know, whatever. you've heard all my stories, you're over me, there's someone more interesting, there's someone more famous, there's someone more exciting. And I'm like, I totally get that. That's fine. But when you it's actually, like, you actually are the assistant and you're like in their intimate business. That's like a whole other thing. It definitely, yeah, it changed my life. I'm so grateful for the experience. And like I said, I really loved working for her. I know I got to experience things. I would never experience in my life. Like I was regularly, regularly on.
Starting point is 01:06:06 a private jet or, you know, being this close to Beyonce or whatever it may be, like, staying in hotels, I never would have been, like, and I guess maybe part of the reason, too, why people develop that syndrome is like, sort of like how when people say, oh, I live in L.A. And people are like, oh, you live in L.A. Like, do you see celebrities? Like, do you, it was, you start to get more of that in a different way of, oh, well, what is she like? Oh, you're going to set up in her room? Sort of, I guess, like, what we were just saying? Yeah. Well, what does she set up in her room? Like, well, who have you met because of her or it sort of turns into this whole other thing. And it's, I think, fame like anything else that
Starting point is 01:06:43 can be addicting to people, even proximity to it. And people don't want to lose that. So then if you are let go from the team, then everybody scrambles to get their lawsuit together because it's their last chance at like a big sum of money they believe. I think I was the only person that was around at that time that did not file a lawsuit against her. No, but that's also really sad and gross too. Like, I mean, what would be your advice to someone who actually is in a position to hire somebody? How do you prevent that from happening? I don't know that you can prevent it. I mean, I think the first thing.
Starting point is 01:07:20 That's why I have my son work with me. I think literally that's why. I'm like, I'm like scared because. I think the first thing that I would want to do is make sure that it's someone who's not posting on social media. I think that you have to say, I think that's, and that's a really hard thing because that's like telling you someone like they can't have a. cell phone. But I think you would have to find someone that's just doing the job. Like, I always bring this up, but Suzanne Summers and her husband, they had this assistant for like years. And she's just like a normal woman. And my mom was a realtor. And my mom was like, oh, I'm, I'm,
Starting point is 01:07:56 they're buying her a house. Like they're buying her. Like she's been with them for so long. She doesn't want to be on TV or do the thigh master. It's, it's. It's. It's. It's. I think everybody wants that person they can have forever. I think it's very hard to find in this town. Yeah. I was going to say, maybe you need to find someone who lives closer to the beach or in the valley. Like somebody who just like doesn't want to be an influencer, someone who doesn't have aspirations of, you know, being, I guess, seen in that way.
Starting point is 01:08:23 It's like the first thing that I would do because even with, you know, her manager at the time, it was to me, it was like so glaringly obvious that like she wanted the attention. She wanted to be on the show. There was a clip of her on Last Comic Standing, I think, auditioning to be on that. There was, you know, it became very obvious to me at certain points. She was trying to, like, force her daughter into the limelight who was, like, 13 years old at the time. And I'm like, this doesn't work. This doesn't make sense.
Starting point is 01:08:55 Like, 13-year-olds aren't following Mariah Carey for her to, like, piggyback off of this. And there would wind up being, you know, things on entertainment shows that would be, like, Like, Mariah's new bestie, like, and it's this 13 year old girl. And I'm just like, and her selfie pal, and I'm like, what is going on? You're like, who put this story out? Yeah. I'm like, this is so weird. It's just, you know, having, I guess, a sense of someone around does not want to be you, you know, is a good first step. I mean, it's like the old movie all about Eve.
Starting point is 01:09:27 Yeah. Did you ever see that? I did it, but I've heard about it. Yeah. It's like, it's a very old black and white movie and the woman is a theater star. and she gets this woman who is like her assistant and her like maid is kind of like, I don't trust her.
Starting point is 01:09:45 And she literally, in the end, like takes her life, her husband and wants to be an actress. It's a very old movie. Is this what Sunset Boulevard was based off of? No, sunset Boulevard is different where it's an old div. This one was like literally she hired an assistant basically. That's crazy. Back in the day who then, you know,
Starting point is 01:10:05 It starts doing her hair the way she does her hair and starts doing all these things. But puts it in a way with her boss that she now can't live without her. She's made her life so convenient, so easy that she would never want to fire this assistant because she does it all. Like it's great. But she's really not, does it have her best interest and wants to be the diva herself. And in the end is like also stealing her husband. That's crazy. I need to watch that.
Starting point is 01:10:38 I always bring it up because I've seen it happen so many times in my career, you know, with other people, me, whatever, I've seen it happen. I'm a big Kardashian fan. Yeah. Like I remember you from the first episode, the very first episode ever. It was our 16th or 17th wedding anniversary. That's so crazy. Party.
Starting point is 01:10:59 I was watching them for years and I was like, I cannot stand them. And then I realized it was, I'd been watching for four years. And then I was like, oh, okay. But anyway, the reason that I did not like Kim at the beginning was because I was a huge Paris Hilton fan. And I was like, I see what you're doing. I know what you're doing. Like, I see what's happening here.
Starting point is 01:11:19 But yeah, it's just, you know. But you know what? That is part of it, though. Yeah. That was. Like, so I was friends with Chris. And my son, you know, who's 20, he was like in a. stroller like he was a baby. We go to the baby store that they ran. She had a baby store before
Starting point is 01:11:39 Dash. We go to the restaurant like freaking like marmalade or something which is now close at the grove at the Kyle Vass Common story. And she's like oh my gosh, Chris goes that we had the most exciting day today. I just heard from Kim. Now I met Kim. I she was selling she was she was her job was getting great items that were hard to get and then she'd resell it. them on eBay. Oh yeah. So she already was like very good at fashion and she was doing the star's closets. Yes. Okay. And she's like, she was filming with Paris Hilton and they didn't know if the Chihuahua was pregnant or not. They thought the Chihuahua was pregnant. Oh, right. Right. Kim had her pee on a pregnancy stick or whatever. And the producers are like, oh my God, she's so funny. And then Paris said, Kim, do you want to be my new best friend?
Starting point is 01:12:32 And I remember thinking, oh wait, Kim wants to be on TV. Like, because I just saw her as like a fashion person that like worked retail was like just a hard worker that like new clothes and, you know, had just broken up with rage at. Like I didn't know. Like I was like, oh, you guys want to be on TV? Like I didn't think that at all. Yeah. I just thought. Because she didn't really present that way at the time.
Starting point is 01:12:57 I remember when the show started thinking, I mean, she was like, and she said this herself. she was very boring. Like the show was really about how crazy the family was. Like the things that Chloe would say or how sarcastic Courtney is or, you know, I guess the fact that her dad or stepdad at the time is Bruce Jenner and her real dad is, you know, Robert Kardashian. And it's all these little things that like gave her enough. Yes.
Starting point is 01:13:23 But I don't, I feel like we saw her personality come out over the years when it initially started. It was just kind of like, okay. So when you're watching it and you, were like, wait, she was originally Paris's not assistant. Her friend. She organized her closet. She organized her closet. I don't think she was ever on her payroll.
Starting point is 01:13:41 Yeah. But when she needed a fun friend to go on the carpet with, it was cool to have this girl that didn't look like her. I think she stopped being friends with Nicole Richie or whatever. Yes, that's when she started hanging with Kim. And then when Kim, when they got the reality show, it was interesting because it was like, Oh my God, they're, you know, stealing the Paris Hilton limelight. But it wasn't really that.
Starting point is 01:14:06 But then it was a little bit because it was like then when they became, I think at first it was like, oh, you go try. Yeah. And then when they started to become really popular, then it was like, I think at one time the Hilton's were, they never, they never were like, we don't like them. But I think some people felt they had to like choose a camp. They have to choose the camp. Yeah. was still the bigger star. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:31 And it's really cool that now that they're adults and mothers and everything, that they like came together and kind of realized like, this is fun. And we still, like when they still have like a funny love together the way you would if you got together with your old sorority sister. And you're just like die laughing. You don't have to see each other every day. Yeah. But you still have that like funness that made you guys laugh.
Starting point is 01:14:55 But yeah, I mean, that was, she did see. what Paris did and was like, okay. And then, of course, the reality show blew them all up. Right. And she does credit her with that now of, you know, not being able to have done what she did without Paris. And I mean. But being there from the beginning, it was not like she used Paris's friendship. She really didn't. She really didn't. Like it was, you know, other people saying you should have a reality show. Her being on that red carpet help. they got a publicist to put her name out there. And then, but at first she was like trying to be like an e-news reporter and things like that.
Starting point is 01:15:38 And then and then it, but it took years for like A-listers to like them. Oh, yeah. Oh, they were for so long, I remember, you know, and they've talked about this too, all the horrible things that all these people would say about them who then, you know, come around and want to be their friend or. Yeah. And so that's really interesting. I don't know that I, I don't know if it's as much as the show, as much as it, and I don't know how much you want to talk about this.
Starting point is 01:16:05 But it's, it's, for me, it was like the tape was what the Paris, you know, I was just like, okay. Like, I felt that Paris, it was, was a victim of circumstances with the X. And with Kim, I felt it was very much so intentional. And I love Kim. I mean, I think what's interesting is that was like the one thing that we could never discuss, joke about. So if anyone came on Chelsea lately and there was like a Kim Kardashian story, any Kardashian story, the producers would say, just don't write a joke about the tape. You cannot talk about the tape. But then when Kim did S&L, she joked about the tape for the first time ever.
Starting point is 01:16:51 And now because, and it's interesting because it's just not a big deal. Yeah. Now the youth doesn't care. If you were to tell somebody like, you see that lady with the skims, well, she had a sex tape with her boyfriend when she was, you know, 22 years old, I don't think a 15-year-old would care. They'd be like, who doesn't? No one cares.
Starting point is 01:17:09 Because everyone has a link in their bio for an only fan. Now, it's very different. But at that time it had to, there had to be a narrative again that somehow it's out there It's at vivid and we might as well make lemonade out of it. Yeah. We can't put the toothpaste back at the case. So we'll each just get money from it. And then the Ray J comes out.
Starting point is 01:17:30 And now even when Ray J or they're going back and forth and suing each other, I don't even know. But the point is the audience does not care. No. They don't care if they were lied to 20 years ago. No. Or if they weren't. They don't care. I do think it's like super interesting though because I view Kim as someone who's like very
Starting point is 01:17:50 vulnerable and authentic and like shares like so much and it feels like the it's like the only thing in the whole story that's like I don't know I just it's I'm sure she'll one day and 20 years like have a book and maybe say I mean the true story is out there and it's yeah it's true right right it's true I mean it was you know yeah they I think I think I knew what they were doing and I guess you know how it's not it's not it was you know it was wasn't the story we were totally told. Yeah. But yes. I guess my now it's out there and soft spot for Paris and this comes from like and again, I don't know the legalities of all of this and I guess I was told that you have to be able to sign something for them to be able to distribute it in the way that
Starting point is 01:18:38 they did even with Paris. She says to this day that she never made a dollar off of it. In that documentary that she did, she was sobbing about the fact like I wanted to be like Princess Diana and now no one was ever going to view me in that way. And it just felt so. real to me and then I think back on the times where Kim was talking about this and it's like the first episode and of course she had the uncomfortable monotone voice where she wasn't comfortable on camera and she's just like you know or with the clip of Chris actually she's like at one point or at first I thought what does she say something about I don't know she's like but as her manager and so she like flips this whole thing and I just sort of felt like look in retrospect it felt like she took
Starting point is 01:19:19 something that happened really dark to her friend and then used it to sort of catapult her fame. That was just like my perspective on it. I don't know that if I were Paris and that is the way that things transpired, that I would be able to forgive somebody for that. But at the same time, it's been whatever, literally 20 years. Or at this point, she looks at it, she doesn't care anymore, you know? And it's like, I don't know. This was so fun getting to talk to you.
Starting point is 01:19:49 The book is the last diva. Yeah. Where can they get it? So it's on Amazon, paperback, hardcover, audio book, ebook. I narrate the audiobook. Yeah. I mean, it's a big, long book. This is not some lazy deal.
Starting point is 01:20:05 I'm excited to read it. And, oh, and you dedicate it to yourself. Oh, yeah. To myself for making this happen when everyone told me I could it. Yes. Yes. Writing a book is a big, huge thing. and it's Matthew Stevens is the author,
Starting point is 01:20:24 but it's the last diva a novel. And let me tell me also about your other product. This is amazing. So it's illusion bronze. We're known for being a custom self-tanner. So it's blended for each client based on your hair color, eye color, skin tone. So that way you're not going to be orange, basically.
Starting point is 01:20:39 Oh my God. I'm so excited to try it. This is how all the celebrities do it actually is they have something made custom for them. It's sort of like color theory for self-taining. Yes. So it's based on your natural. hair color, eye color, skin tone. So you just shake it up and rub it on? Yep. And is it instant or it takes a while to come? Yeah, you do leave it on for at least three hours, but three to eight,
Starting point is 01:20:58 depending on how dark you want to be. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. Yeah. Oh my, thank you so much. And again, it's Maddie. Addy on TikTok and what's your Instagram? Yeah, it's Maddie, M-A-T-T-Y underscore Adi, A-D-D-D-Y, and that's on TikTok and Instagram. Yeah. Yes. Awesome. So great. Thank you so much. Thank you. This family is on the brink of civil war.
