Heather McDonald's Juice, Scoot.
Hello and welcome.
to Juicy Scoop. Well, I am very excited for today's show because I have Emmy nominated
former Real Housewife producer Patrick McDonald. No direct relationship, but we're going to
figure out if we're cousins. Patrick, welcome to Juicy Scoop. Thank you. Your life has been very
interesting. You were a star of a reality show on Logo, and then you actually became behind
the scenes, Emmy nominated of all these Housewife shows, which we are going to get into. But now you are
a nominated gay porn star numerous times, ultable over. So what a transition in life and good for you.
So welcome. Thank you. Thank you, Heather. You know, you got to keep it interesting.
Yeah, yeah. Everybody loves a pivot from time to time, you know? I don't know. Things get, like,
I kind of like to look at my life as like one of those little snow globes. Yeah. And like every
couple years. It's kind of like, eh, I'm a little bored with it. Let's like shake the thing up. Let's
shake it up. And literally like dump everything out of my life and start from scratch and keeps it
fun, you know. I first discovered you about a year ago, I guess, that, you know, and DM'd you,
but you missed my DM. And that was because you kind of came forward and spoke a little bit about
this career change. Can you speak on that? Yeah. Yeah. It was a, God, it was like a little over a year
ago now. You know, I kind of came forward with the fact that once I had started doing only
fans and Bravo found out about it, like all of the shows iced me out. Like I had, I was currently
working on Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, and OC at the time. I was kind of like in a rotation
of those. And once I started doing the only fans very quickly, like all of those group chats like
dried up, all of the emails stopped, you know, all of the updates about kind of what's coming up next season.
like, you know, there's like continuous conversations, even in the off season, a lot of the time.
And it was just very obvious to me how they all like halted once I started doing the only fans.
And so anyway, when I went public with that and like kind of made a video about it and it got a lot of like, you know, press and pickup.
And it got a lot of support too, mostly from like housewives that I had produced, crew members that I had worked with, other producers were very vocal in the comments and online.
about like, you know, we love this guy, we support what he's saying.
Like, he was really supportive to me.
And so that really meant a lot to me that, that, you know, I had the support from the community.
While I may not have had it from the network or the production companies that I worked for, but yeah.
So.
Well, then I, you know, I did this video that you got a lot of, a lot of love too.
And it was just a funny parody of how I feel like shaman.
Madonna Maduro over the years, I think, and I've known her personally for many years,
but I really kind of feel like she maybe unconsciously sort of became a caricature of herself,
like an exaggerated version, and she found that this goofiness and tripping and falling was
kind of easy to do and, you know, get the moment.
So I did this point of view.
You go to the Shannon Madera's acting school, and I did this video, and you commented.
And a lot of people.
like sitting up in Big Bear like, yeah, like this is funny. And then like I had no idea that.
I mean, that comment definitely like there was like three articles about it. You know what I mean?
So the comment was basically you said, it's most wild to see her go from absolutely losing her shit,
yelling, screaming and cussing at the producers and crew right before the cameras turn on.
And then she instantly clicks into this tired old performative schick. One of the most miserable and
narcissistic housewives across the entire brand, pretty harsh.
but I kind of want to hear
why you think that
from when you like worked on the show
so this is one of the
Real House Association seasons you worked on
this was just this past one
this was 18 no so this was two seasons ago
yeah this was two seasons ago
so how did you come up with that
opinion? My God if I had known that that comment
on your video would have like done so much
I might have not done it you know but
and then next
thing I know she's responding to the comment with of all people Randy from scream two which I'm
like a huge scream fan I was like life is really fucking crazy I've got shannon Mador talking about me to
Randy from scream two and in this interview she was Randy from scream too Jamie Kennedy who plays
he plays scream to the movies he's like the iconic like you don't know the rules of a horror movie
that's him I know Jamie Kennedy he's been on this show we've been done TV shows together I saw
I saw the videos.
There's parts of it.
Okay.
So she's doing an interview with Randy from Scream 2.
And they're talking about like, she's like, this producer came out and spoke about me.
And she's like, I gave you chicken, mister or whatever.
And it was just like, first of all.
Because she served you lunch or something.
There was like a scene where we shot where there was left of her food and like she was going to throw it away.
And she let me take it home.
Yes.
Thank you, Shannon.
Thank you for that chicken.
It doesn't change the fact that you are also like a really horrible person to most of the people around you.
And when she's doing the interview with Randy from Scream 2 and defending herself from what I said,
and her next breath, she's then defending herself from someone else that she had like mistreated or something that had spoken out about her that very weak,
which was like someone from Southern Charm.
Oh, yeah.
Who seems like a really nice guy, Roddy.
And but anyway, so like if you're having to be.
having to like defend yourself multiple times a week from what people are saying about you.
Like maybe it's time to like take a pause, right?
So but what was it?
Because if you're supposed to be filming a reality show and you're being real, this, what it sounds like to me is that this sounds like what you would hear about a regular actor that like loses their shit and they're like, I'll do it live.
You know, like, so I'm kind of curious how this can happen in a reality show.
It was wild.
I mean, look, I have a lot of empathy for anyone who's going through a struggling time,
especially while shooting one of these shows.
And I will be the first to validate her complaint that it was absolutely diabolical of them
to add Alexis Bellino to that show.
Okay, this woman had just, just like drunk drove, got a DUI for driving her house into a car.
You mean her car into a house?
Driving her car into a house, correct.
I think it was a curb.
The other way around.
I think it was a curb.
Nevertheless, she just got a DUI with her dog in the car.
Yes.
Driving into someone's property.
Yes.
You know what I mean.
And it's, you know, not the first time she's had issues with alcohol.
Right.
And I'm sorry.
It's just like, yeah, it was awful of them to put her on that, to put Alexis to add onto that.
I totally agree with that.
Like, I know how diabolical things like that are.
You know, O.C specifically loves to take.
terrorize their cast. You know what I mean? And her specifically, Shannon is a fascinating case because
it's one of the most fascinating cases of like Stockholm syndrome. I think we've ever seen on reality TV
because she hates that show. She hates doing the show every fucking day. She resents the fact that
she has to be there. But she loves being famous. She loves the perks that come along with that.
And she loves the check, obviously. And not only that, but she needs that check. Like,
she needs it. And so she offers herself up to do that. And they also protect her. So they don't
show her at her very, very worst because there's footage of Shannon that is much worse than you've
ever seen on the show. And they don't show that because they have to like protect her just enough
so that she'll come back the next season. Because if they show everything and make her look like an
absolute monster and then the public completely turns on her, she's not going to come back. Because like,
you know, there's only so much a person can take.
So they protect her a little bit.
They show her being crazy, show her some stuff.
Then they show her being funny.
Then they show her the bo-doop-bo-doop, you know,
her knocking the things over and everything.
And then that gets the audience to laugh.
And so they like her, and then that makes her feel good.
And she's like, okay, all right, maybe I can put up with it for another year.
You know what I mean?
Because there are those people that like that.
But I think that, like, the mask has been slipping,
and people aren't buying that anymore.
You know what I mean?
because it's coming through.
You have like Joel Cambooster going on a rant of what happened.
And he was the host about Love Hotel.
And, you know, and then he retracted and apologized later, which he was most definitely pressured to do.
And in that one of where, you know, he criticized her for behaving poorly.
And behaving poorly, I was said.
Which is, when I heard that, I was like every single word he said is true.
I've seen her do it multiple times.
Right.
You had Katie Janella who filmed her one of her meltdowns, right?
On like a photo shoot.
I think it was like, yeah.
It was like on the cast photo.
which I was there that day.
And Shannon was going crazy.
What was she going crazy about?
Who knows?
It was so something by that time I had tuned her out.
I didn't even go into her room.
So is it just like, let me just ask some questions.
Is it just like a divest situation?
Like she comes there and she's stressed
and she's something doesn't fit
or her makeup artist is late?
Like what is it that for a regular person
that's not Shannon would handle it
in a more calm manner, but for whatever reason, she's like diva-ish.
Is it like just a diva behavior of a reality star?
Yes, it is.
Okay.
We wanted the very first day that I shot at her house.
We shoot the scene.
And like, you know, you always kind of keep rolling at the end.
You know, you got everything you needed, but you like, you keep rolling and see what they're
going to do.
And sometimes you get great moments at the end.
And like, we had kind of gone through everything that we had talked about was going to be
in that scene.
And she's like, are we done?
Okay, we're done.
We're stopped.
filming should be stopped. No one's filming, right? You're not filming. She looks right into the camera.
You're not filming. And it's like, that's, girl, like, we'll be, just walk off, walk out of the room then, you know what I mean? And so she then, she's like, I've got to go to dinner. I'm having dinner. So then she gets on the phone, she calls up some restaurant. And she's like, hi, hello, yes. This is Shannon Madora from the real housewives of our, yes, yes. This is Shannon Maddoer from the real housewives of Orange County. I need to make a reservation for,
We're going to be there in 30 minutes for a table for two.
And for the love of God, do not put us in the front table again.
Everybody was gawking at us the last time.
Please put us in the back so we can have a nice dinner.
Like, this is like the very, I was like, the fact that she introduced herself as
Shannon Bador from the real housewives of Orange County, not once but twice on like a 30 second phone call.
I was like, yikes, lady.
And then I proceeded to work with her for, you know, four more months and see her move through
the world like that constantly.
And so I have another question.
So for other cast members, like Tamara who's been on longer than she, 18 years, whatever, you know, who is, you know, pretty professional.
I've heard, you know, easygoing with the crew.
Also, I do think she's a producer's delight.
She will bring it when it has to be brought.
She will make herself look like a bitch if that's what the scene needs.
Like, I get all that.
does the underlying friendship breakup between them, the trace amigos,
so they didn't want to do their stupid where the trace amigos thing at urban improv anymore.
I understand why that would fall apart.
But the stuff that we don't know, because it's confusing,
because this whole season is them talking about their friendship,
and it's extremely boring as a viewer.
But I'm guessing over the layers of years of things,
that this probably is one of the things as someone who does,
doesn't treat the crew like that, but is a witness to it, you know, that's going to put cracks
in your, you know, Dos Amigos friendship.
Absolutely.
Look, I don't agree with a lot of the things that Tamara does on the show.
But in, like, real life and working with her as a co-worker, she's, like, lovely.
She's a delight to work with.
She's very professional.
She shows up on time.
She says, thank you.
she like uh you know she treats people with respect uh like she's talking to the you know the young
girls that are like pas or whatever you know what i mean she's like chit chatting with them
Shannon is is yeah she's not like that um and she's most of the time she's like kind of melting
down because of some crisis that she's going through but granted like i said i have empathy for
what she was going through i filmed this season uh that's what she said with randy from scream too she was
like, you know, he was there during this season where Alexis Bellino was on, you know,
and granted, yes, I thought it was fucking crazy that they brought her on.
I guess the excuse would be it wasn't just bringing an ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend
onto the show.
Right.
Alexis had been on before, had a relationship.
But there was never a conversation to bring Alexis back until she was with John Jansen.
And they knew that it would absolutely terrorize Shannon and they would get great TV out of it.
You know what I mean?
At the expense of her mental health.
To give Bravo a little bit of kudos, because I was ready for years before Alexis and John found love,
I was ready for them to be so diabolical that they would bring on Leslie Bador.
I was like, when's that going to happen?
And I have to say, at least they didn't do that.
Yeah.
Because that would have really come out of nowhere because she's not friends with the other cast.
She wasn't a former cast member.
It would truly just be like a cruel thing.
but I think that Leslie and David's relationship is so up and down and I don't think she was ever up for it.
But sometimes I would see things on social media that look like she would have been totally down if they would have called.
Leslie Bador, his second wife.
Yeah, well, if she would have been done, I'm sure they would have done it.
Yeah.
Like they with her specifically, yeah, they will do things like that.
Yeah.
And it's, that's all fine.
But there's been a lot of people that have gone through hellacious, crazy things on these shows.
shows, and they still find a way to treat people with decency and respect, like, the other
people that they work with, you know?
So would it be like when you guys are filming stuff?
Yeah.
And you're just, you know, and you could be called to Heather DeBrow's house to whatever,
film her, redoing her closet, or you have to be the producer that goes to Shannon Bador's
before a small dinner party that she's hosting.
was it like producers would be like please please don't give me that can I please have this assignment over here absolutely there's so many on every housewise cast there's like you got your good scenes and you got your bad scenes you're like oh have a day with garcel and crystal like fuck yeah you know what I mean or like you got a day with like you got a day with Shannon you know and well Heather like doesn't even live there so that's that's a trek because you got to go to go to LA yeah but but but yeah but yeah
Yeah, with Shannon, you get Shannon a day with Shannon.
You're like, oh, God.
I get a walk and talk with Shannon on the beach.
Or you've got a, we're going to go get Shannon's breathalyzer installed on her car.
You had to do that?
Dude, that was one of the craziest times, like, encounters I ever had with Shannon.
So that was the, I think it was like my second scene of the day.
We get over to the garage because, you know, you get to these scenes like two hours before the scene starts.
You have an hour of ESU.
You're setting up, you know, cameras.
You're setting up lights.
Kind of running through with the crew.
This is where she's going to walk in.
This is where they're going to have a little meet and greet.
And then they're going to land here and have a conversation.
You know what I mean?
You map it all out, you know.
And then when the cast member arrives, you kind of give them the laydown of, you know,
the layout of what you're going to do, where to go, where to sit.
You're going to sit there.
You're going to talk about this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this.
Ask them these questions.
She's going to ask you questions.
you're going to set up.
So it's really planned out.
Yeah, well, I mean, there's...
It's not scripted, but it's planned out.
They always say it's never scripted.
It's very much beat out.
But you know what you're meeting about for coffee.
You know you have to talk about the upcoming trip or whatever it is.
Right.
So that's typically, you know, we get to this garage where Shannon is having a breathalizer device
installed on her car because it was court mandated that if she was going to be driving,
she had to blow into the breathalizer to make sure she hadn't been drinking.
before she got behind the wheel, which is very typical to, you know, when you get a DUI,
or if you've had like multiple incidents and stuff.
And first of all, I'm speaking as this, like, I just celebrated 10 years of being no alcohol
free.
You know what I mean?
I got a DUI in my 20s and I used to be a drug addict.
I was a drug addict inactive addiction when I was filming that show, Fire Island, you know.
I was high in every frame of that show.
So I very much empathize with someone struggling.
with something like that. So let me just ask this. You know, when I saw the news that she got that
DUI, yeah, I think if she was my sister or something, I would have said, Shannon, sit the season
out. Take a year off. Yes. Come back. I said that why we're feeling. Fitt, you know, end this
relationship that you were obviously fighting that night with your now ex-boyfriend and married to
another woman.
Yes.
Like if she would have just removed herself.
And that's where I feel that the addiction of fame.
Honey.
Yes.
Of these shows where you really didn't pursue acting or any kind of famous work
before you were cast in your early 40s to be on this show.
It's like all of that combined with an ape type personality, narcissist traits.
I'm not going to say everyone's a narcissist, but traits.
That is where you couldn't.
and the people around you couldn't say, hey, this is what's best for you.
I know she's not rolling in it.
I know she didn't do great from the divorce or whatever.
But it appears that like she came from money and her dad is still doing great and alive.
So I don't know if like how desperate she is for the money, but I think it is the fame that made her go,
okay, I will do this other humiliating, humiliating awful season.
Like, who?
1,000 percent.
It's the addiction to the fame and it's the money, like I said.
So she, like, she despises doing the show.
You can see every time she arrives, she's like, you know, and like, and then she has to do it because she needs it.
So it's this fascinating case where like.
So do you think she is acting like the, like just.
Oh my God.
So let me tell you what happened at the DU at the breathalyzer place.
Okay.
So I'm there.
I'm talking to the guys at the garage.
We're filming.
And it's always like, they're like, oh, God, we're filming a show in here.
you know what I mean? These are guys in a parking garage.
Yeah, they're not an auto shop.
And so they're like always kind of like interested of what's going on.
I'm like and I'm kind of seeing, I'm just telling them what we're going to do.
Like we're going to have her come in.
We're going to talk about it.
We'd love to see her try to do the thing, you know, that's going to start the car.
And the guy tells me that like that's probably not going to happen because this car that she bought,
this brand new car that she bought is not going to be compatible with.
this device so they weren't going to be able to install it.
This super expensive Mercedes that she just bought that's probably like, you know,
let's be honest, probably out of her budget.
You know what I mean?
And she did not have the, you know,
wherewithal to check to see if this would be compatible for this court-ordered device
that was going to be used to start her car.
So I knew this, you know what I mean?
But I'm a producer of the show.
I'm not Shannon's friend.
You know what I mean?
Like you find out this information, but you're not interfering.
Like I'm...
Because in real life,
Right. She would come there and do it.
In real life, she would take her new car and go to the place and find out a son.
Somehow, like, so before Shannon was coming to the scene, she was at the DMV dealing with some kind of license issue because of the DUI.
And the DMV was like, I'm at DMV.
And they forgot to do this and send me to the wrong thing.
And now her friend that's with her, she's like, he's getting a text from the mechanic and saying they might not be able to do the breathalyzer.
What the fuck is going on?
And I was like, well, Shane, I don't know, you know, you'll find out when you get here.
We'll see what's going on to the car.
She's like, you're going to fucking tell me, can they not put that breathalyzer on my car or not?
This is going to, I just spent fucking $60,000 on this car and I'm not even going to be able to use it.
You know what I mean?
Like going off on me, I'm like, lady, I didn't drive your car into a house.
You know what I mean?
I'm just here to film you, do it, film your life, you know what I mean?
And I'm certainly not going to like go check and do you a favor if you're speaking to me like,
this and like she just like her arrogance and audacity of like speaking to me that way was like you
go check to see right this is going to work or not because if it's not going to work I'm not coming
over there if we're not going to be able to do this I'm not coming over there and so like right it's
like you are the I'm like I'm the observer yeah I'm the observer yeah I'm not the observer I'm not the
person assistant as much as like as possible yeah there's been times where you get pulled in you know
what I mean a hot life swings a pole in your face or you know what I mean or something yeah
You get pulled in, you know, but I'm an observer, so I'm not going to go do that for you.
So I told her that multiple times.
And she was like, you are like, I can't believe you're doing this to me.
And then now I have to go film with camera and I can't believe it.
Like she's just like unraveling.
And so I was like, you guys, when Shannon arrives, she is going to be unraveling.
I want cameras up and I want a boom up because we're not going to have like be able to mic her.
because she's going to come in super hot.
And I'm going to film that.
You know what I mean?
And sure as shit she did, that car came pulling up into the parking lot.
We were outside, cameras up, ready to go.
And she came, roll the window down.
Is it going to work or not?
Is it going to work?
Because I'm not doing this if it's not going to work.
You know what I mean?
And she's like yelling at me from the car
before they've even turned into the thing.
And I was like, oh my God.
She gets there.
And she's like, is this going to work?
Is this going to work on my car or not?
because I am not doing it.
And I'm like, we're going to find out.
We're going to find out.
Let's mic her up.
Mike her up.
Yep.
Shannon, we're going to find out.
It's okay.
Come down.
She's like, don't tell me to calm down.
And I was like, okay, okay.
And then like, and she's just getting more and more.
And I was like, all right, Shannon.
I'm just trying to get the crew to get their thing.
And I'm like going to back up and just let her because I'm not going to like,
participate in this with her.
And so I was like, yeah, yeah, well, you're going to find out when you get in there.
Yep.
I don't know.
I don't know if it's going to work or not.
you're gonna find out
and I was like
just calm down
Shannon just cause
she's like
don't tell me to calm down
stop telling me to come down
and I was like okay
let's just calm down
she's like
if you don't tell me to come down
one more time
and she's like
you want me to go film
a Tamara judge
tonight
because every single one of you
when camera judge
says jump
you say how fucking I
and then I gotta go film
a fucking scene with camera
you know
and so it was just like
oh my God
it's like you good
she's my
all right
going in
going in Shannon
and she like
turns to like go
to go into the shop and she's just like,
hi, I'm, I'm here to pick up my car.
You know what I mean?
And then she like turns it on and then like the guy's like,
yeah, come back this way.
And then she like cracks a joke.
And then she's like, and then she bumps into that little like,
the thing you are making fun of of that like just barmy little like
barbubber purp burr thing.
Yeah.
And then they're doing it.
Because I had then, I told the guy, this isn't going to work.
The people then,
breathalyzer people got involved because they were like,
this is going to look like shoddy for us.
Like the thing doesn't work.
You know what I mean?
And so they were very like concerned about the whole thing.
And it was just like a fucking mess.
So I was like just fucking act like you're going to blow it in.
If this were to work, show her if it were to work.
You know what I mean?
And so she ends up doing the whole scene and then they're like blowing in the breathalyzer
and everything.
And I had hoped that when we left that.
Because look, I have just like been around addicts who have lost everything, driven their cars, killed people.
And they've taken accountability.
And they have gotten clean or gotten sober.
And they live a life of service and helping other addicts to not do the same things they did and stuff.
And so, you know, I've been around a lot of people who have been so accountable for their actions, you know.
And so I kind of hope that maybe like when she watched back this thing of like how she behaved when she came to.
face the consequences of her own actions.
The only reason she was there at that breathalyzer place
was because she drove her car into the house.
Like, you shouldn't drink and drive.
Lady, you've got enough money for an Uber.
You know what I mean?
So, like, take an Uber.
And so she did that.
And she wanted to blame everyone else
for this thing that was super frustrating
and not going to work out.
She wanted to blame me.
See, I knew it wasn't about me.
But she wanted to blame everyone but herself
for what was happening there.
And I think that that's the way she moves through the world.
And that's why, although I have a lot of, you know,
understanding and compassion for the addiction struggle and everything, I don't have, I draw the line at
like disrespecting people and just thinking you are above everyone around you.
This back to school season, spend less on your kids with Amazon. Hi, I'm Laura Clary, mom,
overthinker, and someone who has a complicated relationship with a back to school supply list.
Can we just be honest for a second? Kids are expensive. Last year, I went all out on my daughter's
school supplies, color-coded folders, the fancy pencil case, gel pens, and seven.
color she absolutely needed. By October, she had one pencil left. One. I don't know what happened to the
rest, and honestly, neither does she. Amazon has everything your kids need for back to school at prices
that won't make you want to cry in the school supply aisle. Great prices, huge selection,
and when half of it goes missing by October, at least you didn't break the bank. So remember,
with Amazon's low back to school prices, just spend less on your kids, because every dollar you don't
spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them.
Real Canadian Superstore has everything you need this back to school season.
Save on lunchbox savers like Ziggy's sliced deli-me meat products for always 375.
And get life brand pure Vita shampoo or conditioner for $8 each.
At Real Canadian Superstore, when you're ready, we're ready with a whole world and more.
I'm darn man.
And this is what happens next.
Each week on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who have faced tremendous
setbacks and yet somehow have found a way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
Life is one long lesson of chaos.
I'm heading to the Emmys and I have police complaints filed against me.
When your free will was about to be taken from you, what would you do if it was given back?
Where did that need come from where you thought that you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
He said, I have a work dad, I need a home dad.
What happens next?
When I came in, he started crying.
Everybody in life encounters hardships.
What defines them is not those hard moments that they go through.
It's about what happens next.
I decided to risk it all.
I realized how valuable every day was.
You're worth the work.
Listen, Dar, I'm not going to pull punches.
You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
Only one question matters.
What happens next?
Okay, so, I mean, that makes a lot of sense about, kind of about this season now.
Because, you know, in watching the edited season of 19, which you were not on that one.
That was the, yeah.
Yeah.
So you're, you know.
Were they iced Katie Janella out of the show?
Yes.
And then, but also, you know, it was Tamara bringing up the DUI and the alcohol a lot.
And I think when we see the edited version of people as a viewer at home, it's kind of like.
Tamara is being too hard on her.
Yeah, being too hard on her.
But she was telling the truth.
Yes, right.
So we see that.
But then, so we see that. And then, but now this season is just chronically boring.
Like, because, I mean, people aren't even like watching it to talk about it because it's like taking people like three times to get through.
And I think cameras, I think they're all tired of doing it, honestly.
I don't think anyone is like, you know, in real life you wouldn't be hanging out with these people anymore.
As adult women, you don't have to.
If your kids are no longer friends, if you're no longer at school with these women,
if they're no longer in your pickleball or Majan group,
you're probably not going to make plans with them again.
And so six months will go by when they're not filming.
And then it's like, hey, let's now talk and have dinner again.
And I get it because it's a TV show.
And I've made that reference when I've had friend fallouts and stuff.
And I'll be like, I don't need to see this bitch again.
I'm not being paid by Bravo to see them again.
I understand, like, why.
But yeah, this season is.
is just, it's not clicking, but you brought up that Heather Debrough doesn't live in the O.C.
And of course, Vicky is being all mean to the new girl, Carmela, because she's like, why?
You don't live in the OC, you know, and basically Carmela says in the scene, she goes, I'm here because I have a job.
And the job is being on the TV show without saying it's on the TV show.
She tries to say it's, oh, I sell real estate with the tiny twins, the Oppenheimer's, in the O.C.
but I also have a house in San Diego.
And it's like, well, you'd be selling houses in San Diego.
It's the same license whether you're, oh, it's a California license.
Yeah.
So, but I get it.
It's a casting thing.
So in casting, does that ever really matter at this point?
I know people that live in the county are mad whenever someone's cast who doesn't live in the
county.
But it's one of those like reality things that nobody at home cares if you live there or not.
Yeah.
I don't think they care if you live there or not.
think they care if you're just like interesting and they can't care if you're authentic.
Like the most important thing for these shows, in my opinion, is like strong preexisting
relationships that are genuine. You know what I mean? Because if you are just coworkers and you're
just there specifically for that, it becomes less interesting. Right. Because it's just not as real.
And that's why like Salt Lake City has been firing so hard on all cylinders, which is great.
because they had a lot of pre-existing relationships there.
That's why, like, the original Roney was so good.
They had a lot of pre-existing relationships.
Vanderpump Rules.
All of those kids had these pre-existing relationships,
and that's what made this really compelling story, you know?
Yeah.
And you just don't have it there.
And, like, I don't know.
I had not been watching OC.
Like, I watched a little bit of the last season,
like the one with Katie Janella's last season.
But I was just bored.
You know what I mean?
It was not interesting.
So I stopped after a few episodes.
Because look, I'm not a hater on the shows.
I've watched Atlanta.
I thought Atlanta was great this season.
Yeah.
I think they've really got something good going there.
Before you get into Atlanta, because that was a show you also worked in,
I want to just talk a little bit about the ultimate girls trip.
Oh, yeah.
Because that aired last night and I was at that party and, you know, got to see all the different,
yeah, got to see all the different players in it.
And sometimes people, because I've been personal friends with them and been doing this for so long and had housewives on the show, sometimes people will be like, would you ever be a housewife or whatever?
And I know I'm never on their radar because it wouldn't make sense because I'm too like inside baseball.
But I had my own weird weekend that could have been something if there was a real housewife of stand-up comedy.
Okay?
So this is what happened.
And I just think this is such a housewife type of thing.
I'm at Pickaball, and I start seeing messages from people.
Very housewife.
And I start getting messages from people who are in a show of another very much more famous comedian,
Nikki Glazer was doing stand-up.
And the first thing I see is she just did your Drew Barrymore, Lash Blast, mascara,
and I'm like, what?
And as a comedian, that's like a really big deal.
And so you're like, and especially when it's a more,
famous comedian, it's like, you immediately think like, oh, shit, you know, if I open Tulu
six months from now and my bit is on the show, on her special, like, I'm fucked. Like, there's
nothing I can do. She's the more famous, we're more popular. Yeah, and they'll just be like,
this was so funny. And then if I try to say, wait, I did it first, it's a, they'll be like,
shut up, your old hag. She did it better. Like, it's just a thing. So I was like, wait,
this can't. So I write back these people.
Did she just do an impression of Drew Barrymore?
Because yes, I'm kind of the originator of it, but a lot of people can do impressions of her.
No, she did the exact parody commercial that you did with the punchline and everything.
Like I inquire and I'm like, oh my God, this is like, this is crazy.
And I remember that it was in my 2014 stand-up special, which was on Showtime and Netflix.
But I can't, it's, I don't have the clip cut or anything, but I'm like, I have to get it out now.
so that, you know, she doesn't do it anymore.
Like, here's video evidence that I did at first.
Don't do it anymore.
So then I have to find the DVD.
I have to go to a place to cut it.
And I post it.
And I'm like, clearly she'll, I'll hear from her.
And she'll say, wow, like, this was a mix up.
I hired a writer who brought this to me.
I had no idea you did something so similar.
Or because I was like, it'd be pretty weird that she came up with this parody
when Drew stopped being a spokesperson for Cover Girl in 2014.
and the commercial hasn't aired since like 2013-14.
So what would make someone write this in 2026?
Like it just is, but I'm like, huh, but you know, she's, I like her.
I've only praised her.
Like, I think we would be great friends if we knew each other better.
Like, what, what?
So I DM the video to her and it goes on scene, but she never responds.
And so 24 hours go by, is 48 hours go by.
and I'm like, oh my God.
Well, you know, a lot of people, when I famously fainted on stage at 10 p.m.
Proff, some people think I died.
I'm like, maybe she thought I was dead.
And she got a, and she got a DM from a ghost.
She threw her phone and was terrified because I'm not nearly as relevant as she is.
So like, I'm just trying to give her grace because I am such a fan of hers, you know.
So it's fine.
She's dead.
Yeah.
But then I was like, oh, my God, what if there was a real housewives of stand-up comedy?
and it was like, now we have to meet or I talk to the other.
So you need to address this problem with her?
Yes, I have Brannie and Julie come on and they tell me their advice and what could it be
and was it to a misunderstanding was somebody wrote it for her.
It wasn't her stuff.
She would never consciously take it.
I don't know.
But you don't want to look like a bitter old bitch calling someone out.
So that's kind of what I, like I was like, you know, well maybe we just ended in beautiful gowns.
We're both leggy girls.
We do like a sequence.
And like Andy's there and we hash out the beef.
And we have to make out because we're going to do another season.
And we have to meet at the coffee place in Laguna, you know?
Yep.
Yep.
You're going to have to find a way to move forward.
Right.
Exactly.
So you're going to have to talk to another friend about it and get her advice.
We'll send.
Tammy Peskatelli.
Okay.
Yeah.
We'll send Nikki to talk to somebody one of her friends.
Right.
She can tell her friend how she would never do.
that. Right, right, right. Yeah. Yeah. And then we would amp it up to when you all will ultimately
meet in an all cast event. Yes. And then before you come in, we'll prep you with all the things
that you should ask her. Okay. And then before Nikki comes in, we'll prep her all the things she should
ask you, um, decide kind of where you are, where you're going to go with it. Right, right.
Yeah. Are you going to be apologetic? Or are you going to, you're going to fucking dig your
heels in the sand and are we going to stretch this out three more episodes? You know what I mean?
Are we taking this to the reunion? Or me as a regular
real housewives of stand-up comedy,
I know that right now
the fan base is
much more in love with her
than they are of me. So now
you have that, right, with the housewives that know
that the person that they kind of have
an issue with... Yeah, you're like coming for the O.G.
Yeah, is way more popular
and like great, you know,
and I've kind of had my...
I have a great, you know,
supportive juicy scooper audience, but
you know, there's some people that are like,
I don't like that old bitch. And so I have to
like tread lightly so that I still get the audience on my side.
Right.
But then I also really like her, so I still want to be your friend.
Yeah.
Well, you're going to have to find a way to move forward.
And, you know, if she doesn't admit to it and if she's not willing to talk to you about it,
then one of you just may have to be put on pause, you know?
Oh, and let's talk about put on pause.
Whether show is on pause or a person is put on pause, you as a producer, what you as a producer,
or what is your opinion of that new verbiage?
Well, it's not new.
It's been around for quite some time internally.
But the entire concept of being put on pause, whether it's a show being put on pause, now we have like an entire show, like Real Housewives of Miami, being put on pause instead of being canceled.
But the entire concept of a person being put on pause is a very carefully crafted corporate buzzword that is strategically used.
to manipulate control and prevent fired cast members from speaking out about any mistreatment
or problematic situations that they may have faced while filming a Bravo show.
And it works.
And let me tell you why.
And that's because fame is a hell of a drug, like you just said.
So being put on pause instead of, we're going to let you go.
You know what I mean?
It's like, we're going to put you on pause this, you know, put you on pause this season.
take a season or two off, let things cool off and we'll reassess in a year or two and see where we're at.
So they dangle the carrot of possibility of a return in front of these people.
Like stay in line.
These people who are going through the emotional, like, fucking shattering feeling that they're losing this, like the table at the restaurants that they can call and get or the, you know what I mean?
You know, people taking pictures of them at the events and they're filming.
I'm sure.
All of it feels good.
Or even the extra side money of brand deals.
And yeah, the check.
All of it.
The brand deals might be less.
They're going through the realization that they're losing that, right?
And then they're dangled like, we could bring you back as a friend in a year or two.
You know what I mean?
So they dangle that possibility most of the time that's not going to ever happen.
But they dangle it in front of everyone to stop them from speaking out once they leave the show.
And it fucking works, man.
it works until you get someone who's pushed past the point of no return and they know like
they're never if I can have a me back let me speak the truth and that's when you start hearing the
truth from people like a brandy or a Leah McSweeney and like say what you want about those people
you know I know a lot of people don't like them but like what they have to say matters and
they went through this thing at the hands of this machine and they got chewed up and spit out
and so if we're going to like celebrate 20 years of housewives and look back
on all these things and like, hear these stories.
I think that if you're going to really do that accurately,
you have to look at some of these women
who have been shoot up and spit out by this franchise, you know?
I mean, so what would, what if someone is now faced with being on a show like this,
whether it's housewives or a new Hulu show
or you're a cute mom in San Diego and a production company goes,
you know, we're putting together San Diego moms or whatever.
But you basically know it's the formula.
housewives. Right. And but you want to do it because you have an eyelash business and your
husband was a formal baseball player and you're already putting your life on, um, social media
anyway. So this will jump you to the next level. Yeah. But then you know this other dark side that
you just described where you're gambling because you aren't Chris Jenner. You don't control the
edit. Right. So what what would be your, um, advice before they say yes or no? Before they say yes to someone
doing this? Something like that, yeah. Oh, God. I would be like, be careful what you wish for,
you know, be careful what you wish for because if you have anything about your life that you are
trying to keep secret, or if there's anything about your life that you would be uncomfortable
with the entire world knowing and talking about and tweeting you about and tagging you in it
for the rest of your life. If there's anything like that, then you should not do this. You know,
but people that doesn't matter people like the allure of it is is too strong and so with these shows
housewives specifically i mean housewives is a fucking juggernaut franchise it's worldwide you know
as candy burris would say like there's there's other franchises other countries and other like all this
stuff because it started as something that was really compelling to watch real like housewives
and like we've never seen these people on tv before but then i think somewhere along the way we lost
the most important part of the title and that's real, you know.
Right. And as someone that, you know, I remember seeing the poster, like, in an inquirer of the
Real Housewife O.C and then holding an orange and immediately got the parody of Desperate Housewives.
And I immediately thought, oh my God, I can't wait to watch this show. I was always a fan of reality
show back in the real world days when that first time. So I loved the genre. I loved the format.
I loved, I loved documentaries even when I was young before. There were a million documentaries.
Like I love that.
So the first season of Beverly Hills is some of the most compelling television of all time.
You know what I mean?
It's so great.
And that's always a thing when someone's like, oh my God, I'm so jealous that you're just starting it now.
You know, and I love that about Peacock.
Yeah.
But when you said about the rest of your lives, when you look at Vicky, Vicky, and, you know, she revealed that her son lives in Spain.
He hasn't seen his sister in person for eight years who lives in Oklahoma.
Neither of them live in the O.C.
they both were thrown on this show in teenage years and, you know, had things that have haunted them with a Brianna.
Her situation when her husband was mean to Lydia's mom for putting her feet on the, that all just came up again.
Right.
And, you know, it's pretty hard to completely avoid social media altogether.
So then you wake up one day and now all these comments are coming after under your.
to Disneyland with their kids.
And you're like, Jesus, like, I'm not on the show.
I'm not doing interviews.
I live in Oklahoma.
Like, I'm still married to my husband.
We had a fucking bad night.
He just got back from whatever I racked and was going back again.
And there's no excuse for it.
That doesn't matter.
People will remember what you did.
Because it was on their screens and it's pretty uneniable.
It's forever.
But it's also our right as audience members to watch and
discuss and because of social media, we can write you and say, like, how did you guys ever get past that?
But then that causes a problem in your home in Oklahoma in 2026. So like I see it. But if you try
to tell a mom who has an eight and a 10 year old and she's thinking about joining a housewives,
you're going, just like someone who's walking down the aisle and someone's going, don't get married,
you're going to say, not us. Don't do it. Yeah. I'm serious. Though. I know my husband and I know me
and I know my kids and you're like, yeah, but you don't know what your kids will feel at 12.
Yeah, I mean, just look at this right here.
This is a culmination of all the cities, of all this stuff.
Like every single one of their relationships and lives have paid a price to some extent
because of the show, you know what I mean?
Yes.
Every single one of them, you know?
Right.
And it's also giving them a lot.
You know what I mean?
It's also giving them a lot.
Right.
The other side of it is like, but I'm glad I'm out of that marriage because I wasn't really in love
and without the house.
Well, Vicki was just saying she would have been still been with Don, you know.
Vicki, that's so interesting that Vicki keeps saying, I should have stayed with Dawn.
I'm like, what is your current boyfriend think of that?
I know. What does you think about that?
I know.
Well, so I will say something about this, so because I did what I just caught up on this show
because we were coming here.
And I loved the white party last night.
I love a Kyle White Party.
I mean, it's such an iconic thing.
And I just want to speak on that, too, for a second, like in comparison to like a
Shane and Mador, you have Kyle Richards, who's the OG of Beverly Hills, who's like the,
you know, arguably like one of the biggest stars, if not the biggest star of the Housewives
franchise, right? And so when you kind of go into a new city and you're like, who's going to,
who you're going to connect with and like, who are you going to not like, whatever, it's,
always different than who you think it might be. And I honestly didn't know what to expect with Kyle
because I love Beverly Hills from day one.
It's, you know, like Beverly Hills in Atlanta are kind of always my favorites.
But I, so I got the chance to work on both of them.
And so going into work with Kyle was like, you know, who knows what to expect.
She's this, you know, she's a legend, whatever.
Kyle is the most warm, like, welcoming, like person, one of the most of all the housewives I've ever worked with.
You walk into that home, her home.
It feels very warm.
It feels like there's a lot of love there.
you see her interact with her girls
they love her so dearly
they're so fiercely protective of her
and you can just feel the love
in that house even though that like you know
her Mauricio separated it's you feel a lot of love
in that home and you also you see
the way that Kyle
talks to the people who work for her
people like some of the people
and they love her so much
everyone that like works around or for Kyle
loves her because she treats them all so well
but I want to say something about that because I have said
this about Beverly Hills. And in my early days of doing this podcast, which I've had for 11 years,
it was the Beverly Hills former actors that came here that were the most pleasant, the on time,
least even. So Kyle would be early. Yeah, Kyle was one of my favorite interviews. I loved
meeting her. She was one of my favorite people to interview with you. So low key, cool, came by
herself. Lisa Renna, same thing. Denise Richards, same thing. You know, like because,
she was a working child
actor or, you know, in Lisa
case, a professional actress
for many years before the show,
they are entering a set
with that knowledge and
professionalism. So when you told me
that like Shannon would be like, are we down here?
Like when I've filmed things, you know,
you sit until they say,
okay, and that's a wrap for Heather
and let's all clap for Heather
or let's do, let's everybody
hold for sound. Yeah.
Well, we do that on housewives too.
Right, but you don't,
You don't ever say, can we wrap this up?
I got to, like, you don't do that.
So I think that's why they, you know, just come off.
But I've always really liked her.
And Kyle is a freaking delight.
She was one of my favorites to work with across.
How did you feel about their, when you heard about their situation?
Now, they're still married, she and Mauricio.
Yeah.
And they were, you know, at the one daughter's wedding.
They were just at the gender reveal, which their oldest daughter,
which technically is Maricio's stepdaughter,
but her oldest daughter Farah,
who works in the real estate with Maricio,
and now she was pregnant,
everybody thought,
because she wasn't with her fiance anymore,
everybody thought that she was maybe doing this on her own.
She's in her late 30s, whatever.
But it was revealed just yesterday
that she is having a boy,
which is amazing since they have four daughters.
So I'm sure, you know, that's funny.
I know. I'm sure they're so excited to be having their boy.
And it's with her co-star from buying Beverly Hills,
Zach Goldsmith, and they appear to be together. But there's a little juice in that when we watch
the show, he was a married man. We don't know when this started or what his divorce status is,
but he was there for the gender reveal and it seemed very happy. And I have always said about
Kyle and Maricio, I have said that I think there is a chance that they will kind of end up still together.
And I said, I could see them being very happy.
This before she was pregnant, being grandparents together.
And that's going to kind of like bring the love back after they've all kind of gone their own way sexually, whatever, like come back and like be like Lucy and Ricky in the pool with their grandson.
Like I am kind of.
And my new thing is like I think in a couple years I could see them living as a couple again.
But what do you think?
Look, I mean, I think that Kyle, you know, people are so invested in Kyle and Marie.
They watched her for 15 years now, you know.
And they were always this kind of like portrait of perfection in Beverly Hills that people like kind of like looked at like what a beautiful relationship.
Because you could tell they really have a lot of love for each other, you know.
There was also never, can I say, there was also never any moments where Mauricio appeared as a as a asshole husband like all the others.
Like he always always there.
And he shows up for her.
They're not even together anymore and he shows up for her at these events.
Yeah, they were having parties.
He was there.
He always appeared to be.
be fun. They had funny moments together. They, they would be affectionate. Like, all those things.
So I, and then I also think that was so much pressure for her, too. To know that they were like,
the poor, right. Couple goals. Of course. So, like, it's, any relationship's always pressure.
Any marriages, always, there's always going to be pressures and challenges. But then to be kind of,
like, hoisted up as, like, of all the franchises of everyone, like, the hottest house husband and,
and, and they're this perfect, you know, perfect couple. And, like, you know,
No one's perfect. You know what I'm saying? And so I'm like so over this whole thing of like Kyle and Marisa, you need to figure it out. They need to define what they are and like da-da-da. Like and that whole thing that Vicky said to her when she was like kind of melting down about not melting down. So rude. Yeah. Kyle was really emotional about it. It was her anniversary and like having like an emotional moment. And God, I was disgusted honestly by Vicki in that moment. I was like, why did they send her over there? Like literally send any of the 10 Teresa.
as well. But maybe they know because that was a talked about moment though. Because she's such an
asshole. We had to talk about it because no woman that's normal would ever say that. If you were
faced with your friend crying about it being her 30th wedding anniversary and she's not with her
husband, but they're, you know, separate or not getting divorced. And she's crying about it.
Of course you'd be like, you know, consoling her and obviously she didn't. But I also felt
I kind of loved Vicky for being so honest.
And I mean, this is an honest thing.
Like this thing with her and Mricio.
I think Vicky killed the moment.
Yeah, no, she did.
She did.
But there is a whole thing with older people, my age and older two,
where they don't get divorced.
They haven't maybe an open marriage or they don't ask to tell.
Or this whole thing where women are quietly quitting marriage,
where they stay married,
but they are no longer trying to make it better.
They're just like whatever.
And so I'm like,
we're seeing a version of that in the show.
And I think she's showing everything.
I mean, I do.
I know there was a thing with Morgan and all that.
And she never really defined it.
But still,
it still was very interesting.
So like I feel like she's as a cast member,
I think she's one of the best because I think she's.
She's given us a lot.
I agree.
I think Kyle is the OG of Beverly Hills.
I think she is like, if there's a Mount Rushmore, Kyle represents Beverly Hills.
I think that, look, I hate how it's such a negative of like, oh, like Kyle and Maritio have to figure this out.
Are you going to get back together or are you going to stay apart?
It's like, why can't this like be a positive?
Like look at this like lady who is showcasing how to, even though your marriage may not,
not be working out the way that you had hoped it would. How to remain a family for your kids and how
to keep a relationship between each other that's built upon like, you know, love and respect,
even though we're not together in that way anymore, but we're still allowing like our family
to experience both of us together. And like, you know, granted, some people, that's not possible,
you know, because of like contentious divorces or whatever. But that's not the case here. And so
I think they're showing the world a beautiful thing of like, look,
look, our relationship did not work.
You know, it did not work out for now.
You know what I mean?
Whatever it's going to happen in the future is going to happen.
But like why is it a bad thing that they are this couple who are able to be around each other and her husband's able to come to this party that's celebrating 15 years of this legacy that she's built.
You know what I mean?
Like that's something to be so proud of.
Right.
And he is still showing up for, sorry, that's not his.
But yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that Kyle gets...
Here's Kyle having a blast.
This was all over everyone's for you, Paige.
Yeah.
Bowes wedding in Ghana, Boz from Real House with Burley Hills.
And it's so colorful.
It's so beautiful.
Yeah, they, I think they had like a Ghana gown designer do all their dresses.
So cohesively...
It was like a green and purple.
It really popped.
Cohesively, it was really pretty.
It's something like we've never seen.
and it looked like they were really having fun.
So that was fun.
And then it was announced that Tracy Tudor of Million Dollar Listing is joining the cast of Real House House of Beverly Hills.
And I was like, you know what?
I thought that was interesting because last season they brought on Rachel Zoe, a former Bravo star, much like Tracy.
And she was very well received.
She was fun to watch.
And they brought another girl, Amanda Francis, who had some interesting.
internet fame, but 99% of the audience didn't know who she was.
She was way more fun to watch, I thought.
Oh, really? Well, I mean, and she's not coming back, whether that's mutual or whatever,
she's not coming back. So I think, do you think that they chose a Tracy?
Because, you know, she's fun to watch and she's beautiful and she's smart. But also,
like, it's like getting an experienced person for the job. Like, they know how to do it.
They know how to be on camera. They know what to expect. They can be professional around a crew.
She probably has a good reputation from the previous seasons.
She knows the cast members.
She lives in Beverly Hills.
But then someone reminded me like, oh, she's going to, she had all those issues with
Dorit.
And I was like, oh, God, that's right.
There was some makeup artist that, like, Derreet kind of screwed over or didn't pay.
And I'm like, I hope we don't have to spend four of the first episodes on the makeup
artist.
That's like a five-minute conversation.
Yeah, I love you makeup artist, but I don't want you to be, I don't want you to take up
space for something else.
Yeah.
The only reason I know who Tracy Tudor is is because of that because I was on Beverly
Hills when that was all in the press of her talking about Doreet not paying for stuff.
So I was not really familiar with her before that.
But great.
I mean, I don't know.
I don't really want a lot of real estate talk.
I don't know.
I do not want that.
I want to have like girl in relationships and like she'll, whoever she's dating, hopefully
is interesting and maybe has some backstory with someone else.
I hope she's genuinely friends with someone. Yeah. Yeah. Um, because like I said,
having a real relationship with at least one person is, is crucial, I think. Yeah.
You know what I mean? Because you're coming in like a fish out of water with knowing no one.
And then you get left with like, like, Amanda or like a, like a Katie where kind of, you got to
have somebody to like, cement you in to where like, no, like, listen to what this woman says.
Let's not like just ice her out of the whole thing, you know. And so let's, let's,
talk about when you worked on Beverly Hills. Did you have a favorite or two besides Kyle?
I mean, Garcel, for sure. Garcel. Again, a professional actress. Yeah, Garcel.
He's coming on a show. Yeah. Garcel is someone who I, like, consider a friend. You know what I mean?
Genuinely. And Sutton was always lovely to work with. We had a lot of fun, fun together. Yeah.
What about Doreet?
Doreet? Yeah, she's like, you know. Were you surprised?
hear that they were getting divorced, she and P.K.
I was not surprised to hear that, no.
Look, DeReed's like fine.
She was also going through a lot at that period.
Again, everyone's going through a lot
when they're doing a lot of these shows.
Right.
But also, if you're not, obviously,
you're going through a lot, and we might not know it
because your marriage is ending.
And you have, and you haven't totally revealed that,
which is also real life.
You don't reveal to even your best girlfriends
if something, because you're kind of hoping,
is this not, maybe this isn't forever.
so I don't want to speak on it yet.
Yeah.
But I'm going to bed sat every night, you know?
Oh, if you say it, once you say it, that's like, you know what I mean?
Right.
That's so crazy.
It's, uh, that, that, those words of wisdom from Dorinda Medley many, many years ago.
And like, uh, when she said, write it, regret it, say it, forget it.
Yeah.
I think that's what she said.
Say it forget it, write and regret it.
But when you say it on a reality show, then that's even more permanent than anything
that you would write.
Right.
But it is true in the sense that, you know, if you're not being filmed or whatever,
to have a conversation on a phone that's not being recorded or in person, you can get past
that.
But when you start writing the text messages, which are quote unquote, the receipts, you know,
that someone can go look, you know, at the reunion, look what she wrote me.
You know, before we film.
Oh, yeah.
That's like Housewives 101.
Just like stop texting, period.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Just stop texting.
If you get cast as the Housewife, stop texting.
You know, just call FaceTime them so you can know, because if you call them, they can also record your record you, which has, oh my God.
Oh, that's a good call.
Oh, my God.
It's like FaceTiming instead.
Yeah, I didn't realize that's, maybe that's why people FaceTime so much because you're right.
So the way the phone works, you could record a phone or you'd have to have a second phone next.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
But I guess you could still do that with a FaceTime, I guess.
Or you just have someone else listening or something.
Oh, my God.
You want to hear.
That happened to me actually one time on one of these shows.
So you want to talk about, well, she's not on this show anymore, but Lisa Vanderpump.
Yes.
At IKEA, we make things just for college life, like the Rosenmando blackout curtains in gray.
They say you can't put a price on sleep, but we did for the low, low price of $49.
Why are you in my room?
Shh, go back to sleep.
You have a big exam tomorrow.
Shop back to school at IKEA.
I did multiple seasons of Vanderpump Rules as well.
And so, you know, like I always enjoyed working with Lisa.
We had a great time working together because, you know, she's a schemer.
You know what I mean?
And so as a producer, you're like, you're trying to make some shit happen.
You know what I mean?
And it's like so.
And Lisa was like always really trying to to scheme and make things happen.
But Lisa never wanted to look bad.
So I mean, that's why she left housewives.
Once like once Lisa was confronted with like, hey, you did this thing and you leaked these stories and we kind of have proof.
So like what do you say about it?
And like she didn't even show up to the reunion.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So Lisa was very protected for like 11 years on on Vanderpump Rules because she got to like stay above the fray.
So but it was very, you know.
know, let's face it.
Like, Vanderpump Rules was never about Lisa Vanderpump.
You know what I mean?
Vanderpump Rules is one of the greatest shows of all time.
And it is so because of Stasi, because of Sheena, because of Katie, Kristen, Jacks, Sandival.
You know, like, all of these major, like, there wasn't a dud in the bunch.
And also just the pitch of beautiful, struggling young actors who all work at an L.A.
restaurant and are all friends.
and they're established couples and friendships in history.
I mean, when that was, when,
it was real, it was raw, it was gritty as fuck, you know.
For them to, when they figured that out through Lisa's restaurants,
I wonder if Lisa, I don't think Lisa getting real house size in Beverly Hills,
maybe so, had ever thought like, oh, this could be a whole other show.
But this really is the best show because it included guys to in an organic way
and relationships and everything and youth and...
Well, and let's not forget, like, you know,
let's give Sheena her props.
She was the reason for the season.
Right.
If Sheena hadn't slept with Eddie Sibrian.
Yeah, Brandy's ex, yeah.
They never would have had a launching point in.
Right.
I don't know.
In my opinion, like...
But they could have, though.
I'm just saying...
Right, they could have found a way.
Let's say that didn't happen.
But it was a great way.
And they were like, hey, Lisa, do you have any other ideas for shows?
Or I think a producer could have
seen her restaurants and maybe it could have dinged to them.
Wait a minute.
This is the brilliant show.
How many dumb sitcoms in the 90s and early 2000s were about people working at a bar?
Cheers.
There was one of the first ones.
Like what happens in a bar?
So like this is that version of it.
But so anyway, tell me about Lisa a little more.
So this one particular time.
So like what made it in the later years when I, look, I didn't work on VaynerPump
Rules in the beginning, but I watched it.
religiously, I think it was one of the great, like I said, one of the greatest shows of all time.
It is so good.
And so it was such an honor for me to, when I got it called out of the blue for that too.
I was doing Atlanta.
I was doing Potomac and stuff.
And so when I got the call to like interview for Vanderpump Rules, I was like, oh, yes, you know.
And I got it and I came out and did it and was there for a couple years.
And those two seasons that I was on were the only ones that ended up getting nominated for Emmys.
And so it was like this like really cool experience like this show.
show I've watched for years.
And like, now I'm working on it.
I'm like, not just working on it, but I'm like running the show in the field.
You know what I mean?
I was the supervising producer.
And so in the field, like on the ground with them, you know, I was like steering the ship.
Yeah.
Reporting back to my executive producers in the offices, you know?
Right.
And so that was a lot of fun for me.
And it was thrilling and it was exciting and stuff.
And like I'm working with Lisa Vayner Pump, this iconic Beverly Hills housewife.
Like, and anytime, like when I got.
assigned candy as my first housewife that I was assigned to like I'm fucking working with candy and
charay and you know like I loved it it was like so exciting and fun for me and I think that the housewives
like felt that excitement and love from me and that's why they like trusted me and kind of like
opened up to me and and I became close with a lot of them yeah and so anyway we're filming
this season or not it was the one before that I think it was season 10 it was before
scandal while head broke.
Right, right.
And so it was this episode we were filming at Sir.
And so before every scene, like I said, you chat with the cast, kind of go through
the stuff.
And so this scene was like, we're filming at Sir and Raquel is coming in because she's like,
and she's late for work.
Okay.
So where was she?
And she slept at Sandoval's and Ariana's out of town, right?
This, by the way, this is before all that shit had broken.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
And so while I was talking to live.
Lisa about it before we filmed that scene, I was like, yeah, I was like, it, like, it is kind of like,
Raquel did sleep at Sandoval.
I was like, I wonder if Harriana, like, knows that she does know she's sleeping.
Is it weird that she's there?
You know what I mean?
We're just kind of like talking about it, as you would in any situation.
You talk about like the characters at play and what's going to happen here.
It's like, oh, it's innocent.
It's nothing because, like, Raquel was very friendly with both of them.
She was practically over there all the time.
You know what I mean?
And when I was there, she was always over there.
And so, like, we were just kind of, like, speculating on it and like, ah, but like, is there something there?
And I remember us talking about that.
You and Lisa.
I was talking to Lisa.
I was like, is there something there?
Yeah.
Of her sleeping there and, like, while Ariana's gone, you know.
But, like, Schwartz was there.
So, like, maybe not.
But, like, is there something there?
Yeah.
And that was the first time I had ever, like, spoken to anyone about that idea or that concept.
Mm-hmm.
And so I talk to Lisa about this.
And then we go and we shoot the scene.
Raquel comes, oh, I'm so sorry, I'm late.
I'm sorry, Lisa gives her a stern talking to for being late on the job.
Yeah.
That she doesn't even work at.
Yeah, yeah.
And so then after the scene, we're kind of like, you know, breaking down.
And I would always like chit chat with Lisa after.
How do you think it went?
What do we need to do?
move forward, move the story forward and stuff.
And so I had gone, I was like doing something with the crew.
And I come back and Lisa is still at the table, right?
She was on the phone.
She was like talking to somebody.
And I'm like doing my thing.
The crew's breaking down.
I come back over and I sit to talk to her.
And I noticed that she's like, yes, yes, yes, darling.
And I'm like, yeah, like, oh, how do you think the scene went?
And she was like, yep, went good, went good, went good, went good.
What do you think?
what was that you were saying darling about Tom St.
Savillevall beforehand, before we were
shooting. I was like,
huh? What do you mean?
She was like, yeah, yeah, we were talking before.
We were talking about Raquel and stuff like.
So I don't know. What do you think?
You talked about Raquel's being over there
where Ariana was gone. Like do you, what did you say?
What did you say? And I was like,
what do you, like us talking about how she slept over there?
And I was like, what is she doing?
And she was acting very strange.
And she was clearly wanting me to say the same,
thing I had said before, which is like, is there something there with like, with Raquel?
And you have this beyond camera? I don't understand what you're getting at.
So, no, there's, she's talking to me. This is all off camera. Okay. So, but why do you, what are you
getting at? Okay. So listen. So she's asking me all these questions wanting to know what I,
exactly what I said before. Okay. And I was like, this is so weird. And I kept looking at her
phone and I was like, it was turned face forward. And I saw her do it. And I was like,
and I even mentioned, I was like, Lisa, is your phone still?
on she's like,
don't,
darling,
what were you saying
before?
And I was like,
I reached over,
I got her phone,
and I turned it over,
and it was running,
and it was Tom Sandiball.
And so she had called him and said,
like,
he's speculating about something,
here you go,
calls him to like,
ask him about it.
So she,
he can eavesdrop on the conversation.
So to set me up to say something
to like break his trust in me,
you know what I mean,
to like challenge the trust.
Because the most important thing
with reality shows is like your producers trust.
So she wanted him to think that we were starting to question something about him, you know,
for whatever reason.
Because at this point, Lisa was very frustrated because she was not a part of the show anymore.
You know what I mean?
And so she was wanting to like let Tom Sainville know that like, hey, production might be like thinking this is something happening.
I mean, just so you know, I don't know what her motivation was.
But I caught her red-handed.
Okay.
But for you and your experience, I understand you as coming in like, why you, you
trying to like put me in the bad space.
Right. But for me as a person that was watching the show, yeah.
I feel like that's kind of really real and juicy.
Like if she did call Tom Sandoval off camera and be like,
is there something going on, darling with Raquel?
I just talked to her.
She's dishevelled and she's hung over,
but she's both the night at her house.
And even the producer is questioning it.
I think it's rude that she was trying to,
have some of an eavesdrop without your knowledge.
She was doing it to say, tighten up because if that's happening, they're on to you.
You know what I mean?
But I'm saying if she really wanted to make a great show, then she shouldn't have been a friend to Tom Sandoval.
And she should have let it, like, then she should have been like, well, this is fucking happening.
So I'm just saying she's been, wait, wait, wait, I just, people have criticized her for being the puppet, literally called the puppet master is what Brandy Glanville said.
And so I'm saying if there could be two ways to look at it, I see your perspective, but I'm also saying like there's something really authentic about her being like, if this is.
About secretly recording someone.
Not secretly recording.
Not secretly recording.
But reaching out to him and being like, is this really happening because I wouldn't, if this is really happening, people are on to you and you better stop.
to me seems more authentic than wanting,
like, then wanting it to play out.
You know what I'm saying?
Because some people thought that other cast members knew it was happening.
You need to hear this.
Because I disagree.
Okay.
Because what I think is that was her trying to control a situation
where she felt all a control slipping away from her.
Okay.
You know what I mean?
Because at this time too, this is like season 10,
we were literally having meetings of like,
how do we incorporate Lisa into the show this week?
You know what I mean?
because she just was not a part of their lives anymore.
None of them worked for her anymore.
She was just like there, you know?
And God love her.
Like, she was an iconic housewife, all due respect.
But like the show was not about her.
And they moved, like, so it became a challenge to incorporate her into the show
because she just wasn't in their lives in any genuine capacity anymore.
Now, wait, I just want to ask a question.
So you said, like, you know, for Shannon, she doesn't like doing this show,
but she wanted the check in the fame.
was there any moment where like that would where Lisa was like hey if you don't need me
except for the reunion no she loves she so she so you felt pressure from all the entities to make
sure that she was included because like anybody else you this is a regular show you would put them
on less episodes of the sitcom the show is called vanderpump rules you know what I mean okay so
it's a very very unique situation right yeah because the show is named after her got it
but the show has never been about her got you know what I'm saying yeah so we had to get very
creative at the end of like, how do we incorporate Lisa here? Okay, well, maybe Katie and
Ariana are like going over to her house to like sample some sandwiches because they're
like a sandwich shop. And that's a way to get them over there. And British people like tea
and sandwiches. So let's go have them do. Like, you know what do we do to get them there?
She's going to throw a party for Lala who worked at her restaurant six years ago because that's what
people do. You know what I mean? So anyway, it was just like always kind of creatively finding a way
to get us over to Lisa's or something.
And so she also never wanted to be the...
Because one very important thing in reality shows
is like the transfer of information.
Okay, it's like, and this is just totally hypothetical.
Tom Schwartz has a piece of information
that we need to get to Ariana.
So let's...
But he's not going to tell Ariana.
So let's send Schwartz to lunch with Sheena
so he can transfer the information to Sheena
and then Sheena will be the transfer of information to Ariana.
And so, like, there's always conversations about how this is going to happen.
You know what I'm saying?
And so...
Among the producers.
Among the producers, correct.
But Lisa, she never wanted to be the transfer of information because, darling, I don't want to seem like I'm gossiping with these children.
You know what I mean?
So how can we do this in a way that I didn't do it?
It won't make me look bad.
Right.
And Housewives Day, people used to say, you do this to keep your hands clean.
Right.
He was accused of saying bring the magazines with the tabloid rumors about Mauricio to Palm Springs so that it gets brought up.
And then she's like, no, that's never happened.
And also, it appeared that maybe she was the one that encouraged Lisa Rina to bring a munchausen's disease.
Right.
And encouraged Teddy to do the dog thing or the puppy gay with Lucy Goosey, Apple Juicy.
Yeah, which then, you know, she has staunchly.
denied that she
she always says I never
sold stories to radar online which I
believe there's no reason to sell a story
that you just tell them yeah but also
I feel like I always kind of thought that story was
just so bizarre the puppy gate
because I'm like first of all
you know there's all the people filming the show
there's all the people that work at the dog rescue
there's nannies there's a lot of people that
knew that Doreet had a dog
that nipped at her
She gave it to somebody else and that dog ended up at a kill shelter but was saved because it had a chip and they called Lisa.
Like many people would have known that story.
And I did think it was weird that they all blamed her for the story getting out.
And I was like, but think how many players there were.
There were people at the first shelter.
Well, I think they were complaining because it was also like pro, like Lisa was the hero of the story.
You know what I mean?
Like she saved the dog.
You know what I mean?
It's like if it had been a little more.
like impartial or whatever, like, you know what I mean? You can't like have the story be so pro
one person. If you're going to like put a story out there, you got to make it be a little more
even. You know what I mean? Yeah, I don't know. I still think it's such a weird. I think it's still
such a weird story because I'm like, I've seen her do it firsthand. I've watched her do it. I've watched
her refuse to get her hands dirty to the point to extreme ridiculous points that made me be like,
oh my God, I can't believe this is my job. All right, let's do it. So I will tell you a story about a very
iconic moment from Vanderpomper rules, the scandival of it all.
Okay.
So there was a very, this very situation, and we're talking about, of Raquel being,
of oversleeping and being late for work.
So now Lisa knew this because she owns the restaurant.
However, no one else works at the restaurant.
So no one else could have known this to get this information to the rest of the cast,
because no one works there.
so we needed to get the fact that Raquel had slept over at Tom Sandoval's house while Ariana was out of town.
I think it was because her grandma had passed away, sadly.
And we needed to get this information to somebody else in the cast.
The only person that knew was Lisa.
And so Lisa wasn't going to do it.
She's like, I can't get in the middle of this mess.
What does that make me look like I'm gossiping?
And also, she knows if you get in the mess, you can't.
can get it back because they'd be like fucking Lisa told me you know what I mean and then they're like
oh god and she doesn't want to smoke anymore you know so we had to come up with a way to get this
information to somebody else and the scene that I was presented with that day was Katie Maloney
was coming over to Villa Rosa to do what make more sandwiches to do some sandwich tastings with
Lisa so this information needed to get to Katie at this scene but Lisa's not going to do
it. So the only other fucking person I had to work with was Ken. So I'm like, we got to get
this in for, I got to get Ken to fucking tell Katie that Raquel slept at St. Paul's last night.
So like, how the hell are you going to, how do you get the hell are you going to make that believable,
right? So I was like, okay, this is what I'm saying. Like Lisa became sort of like a,
like a hindrance, really, for the lack of a better word at the end, because you've got to get super
creative because she's got to be in the show, but she won't be a transfer of information.
So, like, what do you do with her? She's just, like, immovable peace that's standing in the way.
So let's kill old Ken, which, you know, God love him. So I was like, all right, Lisa, this is what we're
going to do. So it's like, the preamble of this scene is going to be you talking to Ken.
And you're going to be like shooting the shit. And you're going to tell Ken that, you know,
what happened with Raquel is sleeping over at Santavalles. Because it's not scandalous if you tell Ken.
you're just telling your husband.
And then we'll have Ken conveniently come into the room while you're talking to Katie.
And we'll have him spill that the beans.
And she's like, okay, yeah, okay, that's good.
That's good.
We'll have Ken.
And then so we're like, all right, Ken, you got this?
And he's like, come again?
You know what I mean?
Like, so what am I supposed to do?
I'm like, okay, so Ken, you guys are going to do this scene?
We'll get that.
Lisa will tell her.
Now, Ken, this is what you're going to do when Katie's here.
is when that PA comes and taps you on the shoulder,
I want you to walk through here and just be like,
huh, I can't believe Raquel slept at Sandovales last night.
Oh, my God.
And just kind of do it while you're moving.
You don't even need to stop.
It's just like a drive-by.
You know what I mean?
And he's like, okay.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Who slept over?
Katie slept?
No, no, no.
You're going to say this to Katie.
Got it, Katie.
Okay.
It's like, Raquel, I can't believe Raquel slipped it.
Okay, I got it.
And I'm telling you, so we do the whole preamble, we shoot it.
She tells them, and then time comes, Katie's there.
And God love her, I love Katie Maloney so much.
She was so fun to talk about someone who's like so sweet.
Wait, I just have to interrupt you for one second because I've been dying during this whole story.
Yes.
Because I had a bit in my stand-up from a couple years ago that I did.
that I said, you know, wouldn't it, you know,
isn't it amazing that like every scene, you know,
no, this is how I started.
I go, I talk about Scandaval and I said,
and I love that a producer was like,
how the fuck do we get this going on this show?
We've got to get, we've got to get it out
that they know that they're like sleepy together.
So the producer like kicks Ken out there.
I would act it out.
And then I'd walk, scuffle out like Ken.
And I'd be like, can you believe that Raquel slept at Sanvoles,
where Ariana was out of Grandmother's Futable?
Can you believe it?
Yes.
And then because I'm a writer of my own stand-up material, I would then add all the other times that,
fictionally, that Ken had to save the scene.
So I had, you know, I had to be like, can you believe that Brooks was faking cancer?
Can you believe that?
Oh, my God.
Denise Richards slept with Brandy Glanville while filming a Hallmark movie in Canada.
Can you believe it?
Can you believe Monica is reality von T's?
Can you believe that Daniel Starp was a prostitution or engaged 19 times?
Can you believe it?
And it was like my favorite bit for like nine months after that time.
So as you're telling the story, I'm like, I knew I was fucking right.
I'm always right.
Well, I mean, yeah, everybody was talking about that moment because it was like, what the fuck?
But this is how we got it.
And it was such an iconic moment because you see Katie's face and she's like, and I remember I'm close to.
Well, Katie, God bless her.
Because like when you're shooting a show like this, there does become a point where you have to sort of like accept certain things.
Yeah.
And just like accept the world in which you're in.
You're like, okay.
Yeah, this is fine.
But I will tell you, we because Ken, you know, God love him.
Yeah.
he's an older gentleman.
He didn't nail it the first time.
So we did shoot him walking in and saying that like three times because and then Katie was
like, what's going?
What's going on?
What is he saying?
And she's kind of like, like, I'm sure she fucking knew like, well, clearly they had
to get somebody to carry this bone and LVP is not going to do it.
But that's the thing.
She would just sat there and like let her husband come in and do that and be like, oh,
gosh dear.
Oh, Ken.
Why would you say that?
Well, cut out of the bag.
Sorry, Katie.
Better go tell Lala.
You know what I'm saying?
Amazing.
So that's what I'm saying.
It's like, she's a schemer.
Like, you know what I mean?
It's nothing.
It's not like, you know, she's mistreating people or being crazy.
But like, you know, I don't know.
When she recorded me or had me on the phone with him, I mean, in that moment, I was like,
well, I know I cannot trust you.
You know what I mean?
But yeah, she was scheming and scheming.
moving around at the end
because she felt the show kind of
slipping away. Yeah, I heard that like before
Stan Ball, there was talk that it
might even end after 10.
Well, yeah, I mean, there was like
you know, the kind of...
Because nobody was working at the restaurant.
Well, no one worked in the restaurant. Did you ever think as a producer of the
show, because I know in the beginning
they were like, you know, you have to work there. You got to
at least do a couple shifts a week or two shifts
a week or whatever. And then as time we're on
and the cast was getting older and
They owned homes and they're becoming famous and they were getting like, yeah, they have their
things that they have to do during the day, sponsorships or whatnot.
Did nobody ever, like, want to say, okay, part of it is, I mean, I guess you couldn't
make them work at the restaurant if you're not filming it.
Like in the past, they kept their jobs and sometimes you'd go there and there'd be no cameras
and you really would see them bartender or whatever.
At the beginning.
Yeah, so they just decided.
they weren't going to insist on that or anything because they couldn't.
Well, they just had to.
It just wasn't good.
What are you going to have like, like Ariana and Sheena working at Sir?
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Like they just weren't in that place in their lives anymore.
And so actually the original plan of how to move the show forward before Scandival happened was like it
was going to shift to Schwartz and Sandys.
You know what I mean?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, we were going to meet some of the new staff at Schwartz and Sandy.
Some of these bartenders, some of these, you know, wait staff.
And so that was going to be like a way to kind of integrate the new, the new people
in would be the staff from that place.
Obviously, when Scanderville happened, like, the place got hit and nobody went there.
Like, people boycott it and stuff.
But so it was a major like, okay, well, here's a bit.
That was an insane thing to be a part of filming that, like, all of it in real time.
And like, the paparazzi was like following our crew vans.
Yeah.
We're like going to shoot our scenes and we've got like paparazzi and shit.
Like, I was like, I have to start fucking thinking more about what I'm wearing to work because there's like, every day we're on set.
there's pictures somewhere, you know what I mean?
Right.
And so like it was a wild, a wild time and a wild thing to, to be a part of.
And I cannot imagine what it was like for like the people at the center of it,
meaning like Ariana, Raquel, Tom, just all of the, what that would have felt like,
I mean, to have like the president talking about it.
You know what I mean?
At the White House Corpospondent Center, it was crazy.
Yeah.
So with, yeah, he's.
Here we are.
When this, basically then they felt like it ended.
This was the finale, the final.
Well, no, that was season.
This is the reunion for season 10.
And then they came back for season 11.
Oh, there was a season 11.
Yeah.
And so 11 was when it ended.
So this was like the Scandabal reunion.
Yeah, the Scannibal dress.
Yeah.
And she's like in a revenge dress and like let them have it.
And where Sheena and Raquel cannot be in the same place because there was a restraining order.
So to keep them apart at all times.
But.
But yeah, that was like an insane day.
But they came back for another season after that.
And then, but I don't know.
What I find to be so, like, insulting to this cast was that Bravo thought that they could just like recast and like keep the show going.
Because like I said, like Vanderpump rules was never about Lisa Vanderpump.
It was about Stasi, Jacks, Sandoval, Katie, Kristen, Chena.
You know what I mean?
It was about them.
And that's why it ran for 10 years.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
It did not run for 10 years because it was the hinderpumped rules.
So for them to like swipe out all of the most important people and keep like, it's like if you took the cast.
Listen to this.
Don't know.
If you took the cast of friends, right?
Yeah.
And after the season 10, you swiped them out, replaced them with all new actors and you kept Gunther at Central Perk.
You know what I mean?
Because like that's what people want to see is Gunther, you know?
But that's how irrelevant kind of she was to the show.
at the end. Like with all due respect for legendary TV she provided at the beginning. But like,
you see now people are watching the House of Stasi. They're watching the Valley. Like, is anyone
watching Vanderpump Villa? Did anyone watch Vanderpump Rules season 10? Oh, even Fond Rules with the new
or whatever. The new people of Vanderpump Rules. Yeah. It's like I don't think people, they're not
tuning in for her. They're tuning in for these people who they like fell in love with because
they showed up on TV in their 20s and their most raw, authentic like Adderald
up selves like fucking running loose in West Hollywood, ripping and roaring.
I think why they do keep some of the older housewives where they go, God, my gosh,
Vicky and Shannon in the scooter and it's like a senior citizen thing and like,
why don't they just reboot this thing?
I do think sometimes they're like, look, familiarity will get the people to still watch.
When you tell us.
Maybe like one episode.
Yeah.
Like when you tell us though, like an entire new cast like the Roney reboot.
Right.
That was just too much to ask of us.
Like, I do think the way to do it is to slow, not slowly, but every couple seasons,
lose, maybe lose one and bring in two.
Then lose two and bring in one.
And, like, so that it does stay fresh.
But I know it's really hard.
I know it's hard to cast.
I know it's hard to produce.
I know it's hard for the girls.
Sometimes you don't always have something going on in your life.
So it's like, so sometimes I'm sorry.
Like, I'm not going through the juiciest divorce in my life.
Sorry you're bored by that.
That's where they lost the plot, though, is what I'm saying with like they forgot the real part.
Because there is real compelling shit to be seen in like the quiet moments of someone's life.
You know what I mean?
They're not facing the crazy fucking, you know, lawsuits of their husband killing their, you know, plain victims or whatever the hell they did.
I think for other people, they panic and maybe producers panic if they go, well, now this housewife,
has nothing going on and they're not that like funny or interesting or beautiful to look at.
So something better happen with them or they're ready to go on pause.
Like I definitely think that can happen.
It certainly happens.
And they're all kind of threatened with it constantly.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
I'm like, oh, nothing's going on.
You know, like we're halfway through the season and you haven't had like really a big moment at all.
It's not looking good for next.
Yeah.
There's absolutely like, look, it's not like looking great for you.
if this is going to be a discussion for next season.
Okay, so let's say that's me.
Let's like say that's me.
I'm season five and, you know, I had some exciting things and I got divorced and that was all fine.
But now my kids are in college and I kind of don't have anything going on and you tell me that.
Yeah.
Is that when sometimes my character goes and this is, you know, made up, well, you know, three years ago.
my cousin who was very, very close to, ended their life or something like that.
So now I've got something that I can open up to you about or another cast member.
I can cry about it.
I can go, I can become a spokesperson for it.
I'm going to say, hey, I want you guys all to come to this event honoring my cousin.
A thousand percent.
That is exactly what happens.
So if you're watching a show and like someone's been like kind of sleepwalking through the season
and then suddenly out of nowhere, there is, yeah, like, well, I've got to confess that I did that, you know, whatever,
some big revelation that I have most likely had a talking to of like, you're not giving anything,
you need to fucking bring it at Tuesday's Allcast event, or you might be downgraded to a friend or whatever,
you know what I mean, in so many words.
Like, there's always that, there's always that, like, very loosely veiled threat of like.
I think that's what makes it so hard as a mother, because most of them are mothers, a lot of
of them were at one-time wives. Almost all them are divorced now. But you are like having to sacrifice,
basically, your children, your marriage, your family, maybe, you know, even like your husband's
business, put something at risk to keep your job. Yeah. It all comes at a cost. Like you,
you will probably, there must be times where they're fighting with their child before you show up
as a producer. And the kid and the 15-year-old's like, I don't want to do it, mom. Well, you're going
to do it. I'm going to sit down. You're going to tell me how you were bullied. I'm going to cry about
it. We're going to talk about your speeding ticket and that if anything was to happen to you,
I would be devastated. So the sooner we get it done, the sooner you can go on your e-bike and
ride away. I'm sure that's happened. Yeah. Because there's times, like there was one time with
Jen Padontry or whatever it was on OC and a lot of people felt,
She was very much, this was an acting moment with her son.
And, you know, or like even the new girl, this new girl on the O.C.
She has a boyfriend.
And four years ago, she's brand new.
We met her boyfriend.
And they have to sit down and have a conversation about how four years ago he cheated on her.
Fun.
Why are you?
Like, you know, like I'm saying, like, in her interviews and stuff,
she must have said on the silver platter.
A hundred percent.
Besides me moving to day a point.
have to talk about that. We're going to talk about his cheating. We're going to talk about how my kids
don't go to school because they're whatever. And we're going to talk about that I was, you know,
in Playboy and whatever else is interesting about her. But like, yeah, and it just, I feel like after
20 years, not just me who's also produced TV and written for it, like everybody's on to it.
Everybody knows about the magic revealed of reality TV. And it's just like it's hard to now,
like sit back and act like you believe in Santa when you're nine.
Right.
Like you don't believe in Santa anymore.
So I don't know how to pretend like I do.
I think it's interesting kind of the approach that Hulu is taking with a lot of their shows,
which is just kind of fully embracing the breaking of the fourth wall and acknowledging
that they're on shows.
Right.
Yeah, this one for example.
This is girls that Chloe Kardashian basically just wanted to give her girlfriends a show.
and I think she was like,
I probably had a producing deal with Hulu.
Oh, yeah, they have like a big overall deal with Hulu.
Yeah, it's a bunch of pretty girls.
Well, I thought it was kind of like amazing for her that she could like be on the show
and she doesn't even have to show up.
She just like FaceTime's into the all cast events and like narrates from afar.
And they like they don't have confessionals on this show.
Right.
Which, you know, can be like they didn't have confessions on the hills.
You know what I mean?
True.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
You know, did that Lauren Conrad.
and Kristen Cavalieri did the...
Narration, yeah.
And that's kind of the model they're using here.
Right.
And I think that that will work in some instances.
Like, and it can be a positive when it will help.
Because this is what people do sometimes is they're like confessional warriors.
As they'll sit through this whole fucking scene and they won't say a goddamn word.
Oh.
And then you get them in the confessional and she's like, well, fucking Rachel is a fucking bitch.
And Jennifer is a mom.
motherfucker
and they got all this
fucking smoke for the confessional
but they never said anything
in the moment
so I have a question
about confessionals
do writers give them lines
to say
there
because some of those things
just come out
and they're just a little
too witty
there are
there are
suggested
like sound bites
examples that are given
and use it
so what I would do
in that moment
I did most all of the
interviews like on Beverly Hills
I did all the interviews
on that show
and they would
like post production
gives you a list of questions
and then like
a good producer is going to ask
follow ups and like follow
and listen to the conversation
but you're trying to work
through all these questions
and then for certain things
they'll be like
here's like a specific like bite
that they want
here's the example bite
I can't believe
we have to do this all over again
and then they'll either
say it just like that
or like make it your own
you know what I mean
but yes
there are times
when there's like, say there was like a very crucial piece of audio missing that like the scene
will not make sense without it. You'll have like, here's a pickup. Can you please say like,
well, I would never trust Doreet again. You know what I mean? And then they'll just like add that
in while she's like, well, you're doing it over the shoulder or something. You know what I mean?
Right, right. So there are stuff like that for sure. Um, okay. But yeah, like kind of back to this.
With Hulu's approaches, you're just like, you're acknowledging full on that this is a show.
You're not like dancing around like, oh, well, you, you question my space in the friend group, you know what I mean?
Like, it's not a friend group, we're a cast, you know what I mean?
And we're going not on a girl's trip, we're going on an all cast trip for the reason to argue and fight.
Yes.
Like, they kind of did it on House of Stasi, which I thought to be very refreshing.
The most fascinating part about House of Stasi, just for a second, I thought was like Stasi and Katie kind of talking about the PTSD and the trauma they.
dirt of like shooting vanderpump rules for 10 years and kind of the psychology of like how that
was for them when like the men were so protected on that show and like those kinds of things I think
are amazing and let's lean into that and like the real effects of shooting a reality show like this
for a decade at some point I think it's too much when we're like we're going to get these girls to
a show and I'm going to see if my friends can figure out how to talk to each other at this dinner
and then they show the dinner and the girls don't say anything and she's like
well, they didn't talk about shit
so it looks like I gotta drag my ass over to the set
and get them to say something else, you know?
And so then she shows up and then she's getting there.
But you didn't open up about it.
And she's like, well, I thought I've been very open on camera so far.
So suddenly we're having a conversation about
how open you are on camera.
And we're talking about the fact that you're not open on camera.
I've only watched the first episode.
Same.
I only watched the video.
And I'm hearing from people that have watched the whole thing
that it's struggling.
It's not.
captive, really captivating the audience like a Mormon wives or Stasi.
Tap that into my veins.
I loved Mormon wives.
And I just think, I wonder if it's because, again, we know the Kaddisha and her sister, Malika.
We've seen them throughout the years.
We know the Olivia and the other girl from Canada, the cousins.
We've seen them on reality shows throughout the years.
And the other two girls are fine.
Like, I can see why they chose them as the cast.
I just am like, there just isn't like a, and they are young and stuff, but it's a lot of them talking about dick size and then like, and then like rolling on the ground and like, like laughing and cuddling with each other a lot.
Well, I just like, I don't know.
There just isn't much to it.
There just isn't much to it.
There just isn't much to it.
And the thing, it's, it felt like to me like each one of these ladies, which they're beautiful.
But like each one of them is so like carefully curate.
that like they've kind of designed themselves to be like as neutral as possible.
You know what I'm saying?
And so like there's not any like polarizing like figure that jumped out.
The only one that kind of jumped out me was Iris.
And that's because she's the only one that seems to be getting laid, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
And they talk about it in the intro, it's like fashion, lifestyle, great sex.
And like she's the only one having sex.
And the other girl who's got like the hottest husband.
That was one of my notes was like, well, one of them has.
has the hottest husband of any housewife
husband in a while time.
And it is the girl, I think it's her.
Yes, Nicole.
Yeah.
So she's this super hot football player husband
and they never have sex apparently.
Yeah.
And then she like starts to tell this like scandalous story
about she goes up to the shower.
He's in the shower and then like something weird is on the phone.
And then all of a sudden there's like bubbles on the floor.
So I knew he jumped out of the shower.
And he went to go grab his phone.
I'm like, who are you texting?
What are you doing?
And he was watching porn.
And he was like, I'm sorry, honey.
I was jerking off to porn.
Now, granted, she just said they have sex like twice a year maybe or something.
And so it was like, give the guy, give him his phone back and let him go fucking finish, lady.
You know what I mean?
Like, goddamn.
And she was like, but like he was watching porn.
And I had told him, if you're going to do that, I wanted to be of some old videos or pictures that I sent you, not just some random porn star.
Sorry, it's never going to be you.
It was like so sex negative baby.
It's never going to be.
It's like if you're not giving that man sex but twice a year, honey, your face is the last thing he wants to see when he bust a nut.
You know what I mean?
Oh, my God.
It was just so gross and sex negative and like, I don't know.
I found it to be nasty.
We have had a great time talking.
We have to wrap this up.
You've given me so many juicy stories.
I really appreciate how honest you were and talk about breaking the fourth wall.
Tell everybody where they can find more of you and follow you.
