Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald - When Your Exes Marry Each Other + Dorothy Wang Spills on Morgan Stewart

Episode Date: October 22, 2026

On today’s Juicy Scoop, the hottest topic is TJ Holmes and Amy Robach. They lost their TV hosting jobs over their affair while both were married to other people, and now they’re married to each ot...her and both of their exes are engaged! I also get into other famous couples this has happened to, plus the latest on Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s divorce. Jay-Z picked himself to perform at the Super Bowl. After five years of believing she had MS, Christina Applegate has been told she doesn’t. And I have an update on Selma Blair, who does have MS, and her arrest after allegedly attacking people on a plane. Dancing with the Stars had a pregnancy announcement and drama over a social media post, and RHOSLC’s Brandon has a past relationship with a Real Housewife. Then it’s my interview with Dorothy Wang, formerly of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and Bling Empire, who now has her own series about her wedding. We talk about the fallout of her 15-year friendship with Morgan Stewart and why strong female friendships can blow up like that. Were they ever really your friend, or a frenemy? It’s so juicy and very behind the scenes on how reality shows get made and cast. You’ll love it! Starting point is 00:01:57 The responsive touchscreen keeps things fast and precise for easy scrolling and swiping. And with long-lasting battery life, you get non-stop energy to keep working without constantly hunting for a charger. Built for those who want better. The DellXPS built for you. Where some see heroes and others see egos. Bloomberg sees the era of billionaire athletes. A fad to some, the future of money to others. We see crypto's trillion dollar swings, the end of jobs, or the end of human struggle.
Starting point is 00:02:37 We see the endless funds fueling the AI hype. While others follow the noise, we follow the money. Learn more at Bloomberg.com. Okay. Wow. I mean, this is a story I've talked about for a while, and I find it so juicy, and it's what we like to talk about, relationships, marriages, divorces, and affairs, and it's all rolled into this one breaking new story. Andrew Shoe and Marily Flebig. You're like, who are they, Heather?
Starting point is 00:03:07 Well, they are the exes of T.J. Holmes and Amy Roboc. T.J. and Amy Robach worked together in TV. They had an affair. They were each married to those other people, Amy to Andrew Shoe. and TJ was married to merrily. They had an affair. I can't remember what show they were on. I think it was the Today Show.
Starting point is 00:03:34 They found out about it and they were both fired. They broke up, got, you know, and stayed together. They, of course, started their own podcast. I assume it's still going on. And a lot of the podcast was them talking about their relationship and making it better. And I was like, oh, my God, is this going to last? I mean, if there's one way to break up, it's to have a podcast together. But it seems to have worked out.
Starting point is 00:04:00 They just celebrated their nuptials. They're officially married. And today, the New York Post says, breaking news, that Andrew Shue and Marily, the exes of each, announced their engagement. I mean, it's kind of amazing. It might be the ultimate wife swap. It's great for all the kids involved. because all your parents are in the same room. Like it's not some weird chick or some weird guy coming in.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Maybe it's the most lovely situation. I don't know if the exes were there for the wedding. I'm assuming all their kids were there. I believe both sets have kids together. And I also want to say that there might be some stepkids between Andrew Shoe and Amy. And I'm not totally sure on that. But it's fascinating. Good for them. Glad it all worked out. Glad there's no hard feelings. And that everybody's happier
Starting point is 00:05:00 with their new spouse. And, you know, if they all become friends and somebody's having trouble, maybe Amy can go over to Mary Lou and be like, hey, girl, what do I do when TJ starts doing this shit? And she'll go, girl, he started doing that around year six when we were together. And this is what I wish I would have done on year six. And you're on year six now. you, this is what you should do. I mean, just think about it. You have like a blueprint. You have a history to go to. And if you're all friendly, you really might have fabulous second marriages with this scenario. So I'm all about the positivity. Let's all be lovely families together. Love it. Another classic story of this was Shania Twain and her husband, looks like we made it. And then they
Starting point is 00:05:50 didn't make it. And then her best friend who was kind of working for her, she found out that he was seeing her. And so then she got divorced from her original husband of, looks like we made it. And you didn't. And then she got with that girl's husband. And you know what? I can only do so much research. I don't know if they're still together. Drake, can you look up if Shania Twain is still with her ex-best friend's husband who her husband cheated with. It's a lot to figure out. Anyway, and right now in the real housewife's world, we're dealing with this with Kim Zolziak-Beerman. Kim Zolziak-Beerman is seeing a guy whose ex-wife is seeing Croix. They're all dating together. And yes, yes, they are spoken together.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Looks like they made it My husband cheated with my best friend I went to you and cried about it You wiped my tears and we clist Clist kissed Now that it's been years People like T.J. Holmes and Amy Robuck and Andrew Shoe and Mary Lee
Starting point is 00:07:08 Are copying our love parody All of this is improv, you guys. There's only so many people that can do this in this medium. And it's your girl, Heather McDonald. Good for them. Happy, happy, happy. A lot of people say I should be Shania Twain for Halloween. I just feel her look has changed so much. She's gone from like brown hair to long blonde to like a couple different facelifts. Still beautiful. I still love myself in a cowboy hat. So that's always a great look to go for. Lisa Barlow and Kyle did it when they didn't want to dress up too much. It's a lazy costume. It's a flatterer. costume, go be a cowgirl or a cat this Halloween. Okay, getting back to Kim and Corey, we know all the
Starting point is 00:07:52 trauma that's going on with their son. I don't have an update on any of that, but this came out that in their divorce proceedings, which they are not officially divorced, just, Kroy and Kim, they both blame each other for getting themselves in a horrible financial place. If you looked at the old episodes of the show, they were so about spending. She spent, the wigs were apparently 7,000 and she'd wear them once and throw them away. I couldn't believe it. They built a whole glam room where there would just be wigs everywhere. They always had labely clothes and fancy furniture.
Starting point is 00:08:26 And you were like, how much does this football player make? Well, we also saw her gambling. We also heard he also liked to gamble. But like, if you watch the RV show when it was like, Tarty for the party, get on the RV, she'd be like, cry, cry, cry, cry. I got to go. Just let me go in this Indian casino, this Indian casino for like one minute. Please, please. And so he is putting it out there in his divorce proceedings. And this has been made public, I guess. But he said throughout the marriage that she has spent $1.5 million in gambling.
Starting point is 00:09:03 I guess that she didn't get back. So she wasn't a lucky gambler. There's unpaid back taxes and interest and penalties to the IRS. It is $1.1.1 million. Luxury store shopping, $600,000 at Sack Chanel Versace between 2016 and 2023. I'm going to say, I don't think that's that much. I honestly don't. Like, that's a lot of years. That's seven years. So that's like less than $100,000 a year on like clothes and everything. And she did have six kids. So I don't know if that means it was only for her. If it's only for her, it's still extravagant. But, okay, Bahamas gambling trip. They like to go to the Bahamas.
Starting point is 00:09:44 And on one trip, which she admitted to, Kim, she lost $250,000 gambling in the Bahamas. The Bahamas is kind of a fun place to gamble. Okay, not that I have, but I know they have a lot of fancy casinas. That's where Atlantis is, which I performed out many years ago. I loved going down the water slide, and I would like to go back. Okay. American Express, $215,000. Bitcoin and lottery fund from 2021 was $161,000 that was lost in that.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Secondary IRS tax lien was $163,000. Another 2022 Bitcoin and lottery fund was, this was also tracked in the divorce financial records, $65,000, 966. So basically, let's round it up to 66. And Target credit card debt from Target. I mean, $2,000, but I guess Target came after them. So I'm just saying, now in their case, they also are blaming each other for being an awful parent. And she has also gone on record, Kim, to say about Croix with cameras, you know, some other paparazzi was there, with her new boyfriend standing next to her saying,
Starting point is 00:11:00 I wouldn't want my daughters around Croix. I believe he has daughters with his wife, ex-wife, who is dating Croix. So she was sort of slinging shade like Croix shouldn't be trusted around the daughters. And that was before we were made aware of all the problems with their son, KJ. Jr. So this is not a for some that I'm for. This is something that I think if I was friends with either any of these people, I would say, I don't think this partner is who you should be with. That's, I would just be like, I would break free of this whole thing.
Starting point is 00:11:38 I try to be a great single parent. I'd get my finances together. I'd be taking care of my kid. I wouldn't be dating anybody, but we all know she is never alone. And, but I think it's a mess. And if I was like a sister or a grandparent or something to the family that is now dating each of the Bermans, I would be like, are you fucking kidding me? Can you find a new boyfriend or a new girlfriend?
Starting point is 00:12:03 Okay. Jay-Z, he decides who performs at the Super Bowl. And TMZ said, Jay-Z chose himself to be the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show performer. I love Jay-Z music. I know there's a lot of controversy and conspiracy theories and shitty stories about Jay-Z from the elevator fight with Beyonce and her sister to a lot of other things. but the guy has great music. And when you're watching the Super Bowl, which will be in L.A., you want the best tunes.
Starting point is 00:12:39 My favorite Super Bowl was when it was Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre. And I think this will just be a great show. And I, you know, there's a good chance Beyonce might make an appearance. So I think it'll be a fabulous show. And because it's in L.A. and I'm an L.A. girl. I'm just about the entertainment. and I don't think there's anything wrong with choosing yourself. Let me tell you a little quick story about voting for yourself and why it's not the worst idea.
Starting point is 00:13:08 In my Catholic school, there was a May procession and everyone said they said vote for who you think should be Mary. And all the people that don't get to be merry and have a few votes will get to be like the bridesmaids of Mary. Okay? And you could walk around the school and do the rosary, but kind of be like a bridesmaid. So I told all my good friends because everyone was like, well, let's vote for Marla because she really is like the nicest, holiest, smartest person. And I'm like, look, enough people are going to vote for Marla. She's going to be Mary. But don't you want to be one of like the bridesmaids that get to walk around?
Starting point is 00:13:46 So we all voted for ourselves. And then the teacher was going through and counting them. And she was like, wow, I've never. And it was on the chalkboard. It was like, Heather McDonald won. And I didn't get to be one of them because I only voted for myself. And my other friends, they got behind my back and said, listen, do you want it the most? Because if three of us vote for you, then you get to be one of the brides.
Starting point is 00:14:11 So a couple of my friends, or maybe some of the guys voted for them. I can't remember if the guys voted or not. They probably did. Anyway, nothing wrong with voting for yourself. So Jay-Z, there, go at it. Dustin, from Sacred Symbols here, you know when you're in the middle of a heavy recording session, editing a show, or just trying to get real work done on the go, and your laptop starts slowing down or burning up in your lap,
Starting point is 00:14:35 it's the worst. So, what does it actually feel like to switch over to a better laptop, like the Dell XPS powered by Intel Core? For starters, it's built with a premium design that's incredibly thin and light, so it feels smooth, meaning far less weight on your shoulders when you're packing up for travel. Then you open it up, and the responsive touchscreen makes scrolling, zooming, and swiping feel completely fast and precise. everything just flows. Best of all, with its long-lasting battery life,
Starting point is 00:15:01 it feels like non-stop energy. You get a better way to work without being chained to a charger all day. Build for those who want better. The DellXPS built for you. Want to get away but can't live without Wi-Fi? With select Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles connected by OnStar,
Starting point is 00:15:24 you can enjoy an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hot spot with up to 15 meter range so you can stay connected, even in unexpected places. Whether you're setting up camp or fueling up at a rest stop, you can enjoy the entertainment of home on the go. Explore OnStar tech today at OnStar.ca and elevate your travels. OnStar, better never stops. We talked a little bit about Kylie Jenner wearing the $50 million bra in Victoria's Secret.
Starting point is 00:15:52 And some people are commenting again on why aren't there real supermodels in the Victoria's Secret? fashion show anymore and what it means and the person that walks out in the bra at the end is really supposed to be the crem de la crem and their stories that there was some other model that was being fitted for the bra and that the last minute they're like we got kiley and they're like get her out there and they're like why and also why was the bra 50 million dollars and then she wore like a teemu skirt for a dollar 99 under it i think that was the last minute choice where she just decided you know what i'm not totally comfortable walking around and just a g-string and And then they threw that on at the last minute.
Starting point is 00:16:30 That's personally what I think. I think she looked great. I think there's a lot of history to their family and Victoria's Secret. Victoria's Secret is, you know, not doing great and did fall off the way. They stopped doing the fashion shows and all. So to bring it back, we need to have as many eyes on it as possible. We need as many people talking about it as possible. It's some gorgeous model was wearing this bra that was like Chuck is Valkian or something.
Starting point is 00:16:57 And we didn't know who she was, but she was. really is the most perfect specimen specimen, we wouldn't be talking about Victoria's Secret. And Kylie looked great. And she, her sister, Kendall, was a Victoria's Secret model and wanted to be. And if you watched the old episodes of Kardashian, she wanted to try to model two. And back then they weren't as famous. And it wasn't happening because Kylie wasn't as tall, doesn't have that classic model body. And the reason models are originally the classic model body, thin and tall is because the fashion designers found that their clothes look the best on thin, tall people. Not overly tall, not six two, five, ten. Okay. That's what their samples look the best
Starting point is 00:17:44 on and you look at someone walking down and the trousers hang just right and, you know, the shoulders are just right. And you go, wow, I want to buy that. You don't realize that you're five, four and, you know, not thin. And it probably won't look like that on you. But But it makes you want to look at it and try it on and buy it. That is why. However, the world has changed and the business has changed and we need influencers to sell our shit. And that's just the truth. But my girl, Adrian Curry, who was on Juicy Scoop, she's very outspoken. She was the main person from America's top model. She came from nothing. She became a model because of that show. She was on many other reality shows since that she lives in Montana and she's really great
Starting point is 00:18:28 on social media. And she speaks the truth. And oftentimes it's controversial in this day and age or it's not totally politically correct. And so she talked about this and a TMZ and all these people picked it up. And this morning, she, in the dark, she must have like woke up and was like, I'm pissed. I'm going to talk more about it. And she basically just said, look, I couldn't have been a Victoria's secret model. I was not at that level. And why is it that everybody has to be included in everything. Not everybody can be a quarterback. I've said the same thing. Not everyone can be an astronaut, that type of thing. Why can't we just have like this category of extremely good looking tall, thin women still be able to be super models in this day and age? I think tall, thin,
Starting point is 00:19:15 beautiful women will do fine in this life. The industry has changed. I see what she's saying. but she just kind of was like, Kylie doesn't have a model's body. She has a Carmen Electra body. Now, 15 years ago, you would say Carmen Electra is gorgeous, but you wouldn't say she is supermodel. She is fashion model material. But I feel like that's got away for a while. And also, when girls really wanted to model and they had the most beautiful face and they were only five, six, or five, seven, it was unfortunate that they had to be rejected from this. So now, look 20 years later, that beautiful girl who's 5, 6, she can make money being an influencer. She can, people will want her to wear their clothes because she can literally sell it
Starting point is 00:20:01 herself on her platform, social media platforms. So I appreciate Adrian Curry's point of view and what she was getting across. And I also can totally see by having Kylie, you got Timothy Shalame in the audience. You've got Chris Jenner, you know, all of it. You have all of them supporting her, and I think it was all good. Also, Kim Kardashian showed her Halloween costume or one of them, and she dressed up as Northwest with the blue hair and the grill and she was acting like her going, ah, eh, and doing that thing. And I really thought that's probably the best thing I've seen in her situation of mothering a girl where she's being constantly criticized. that this girl doesn't have a childhood, that she shouldn't be out performing, that she can't perform,
Starting point is 00:20:53 that she has no rhythm, all the criticism and everything. She is doing her thing. And I thought it was a really great Halloween idea. And I would love to know how it came about back in the day when I was friendly with Kim way early on it. They didn't even have the TV show yet. And I was at her dash store. Maybe the TV show just started. And I said, Wonder Woman is the best Halloween costume. And she goes, my God, you're right. And she opened up her side. It was like before a black bear, it was called like a side piece or something and you could write little things in it. No, it was called like a side something. And it was like a little, and she put that in there. And then months later, she was Wonder Woman for Halloween. But she wore black tights with it. And I always thought that was a weird choice. But I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:21:42 they were into the costumes and I just want to know when did she think of it. And I think that was great. this is this is good news i believe it's strange news christina applegate fabulous actress child actress you know um funny lovely she just announced on her podcast which just returned so she saved this juicy scoop for juicy scoop for her podcast on its first episode which she does with jamie lyn sigler famous from the sopranos that after years of believing that she was suffering from multiple sclerosis, she is now shockily revealed that she doesn't have the disease. The doctor that diagnosed her was like, hey, you don't have it. And I don't know what that means. A lot of people in the comments are like, Christina be checked for Lyme. What is this?
Starting point is 00:22:37 It's very, I mean, I find it very strange. This disease has been around a long time. I would assume that someone at her level would have access to all the best doctors, would have access to so many other people that are connected to the best doctors that would be like Christina, my sister has MS, I want you to see this incredible person in Canada or whatever. And that for all those people that she saw, couldn't, took five years in 2026 to figure this out. So there's a lot of speculation about what is, you know, I'm not saying it's anything. Munchausen-ish or anything like that, okay? Lisa Rennah, I'm not saying that, okay?
Starting point is 00:23:22 Yolanda, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying this is crazy. And I hope that with this new non-diagnosis, she goes a different route and can live a healthier life because she walks with a cane and, you know, anybody that knows someone with MS, it can move very rapidly or can move very slowly. Everyone has a different journey, but it's very debilitating. It's hard and it's painful and sad. So we'll see. Also, Summa Blair, who has MS. As you know, she freaked out on an airplane
Starting point is 00:23:55 and she also did an interview before this airplane incident on Jenny McCarthy show. And she said, I was drinking a lot to numb the pain that I was feeling from. MS, but I didn't know I had MS at the time. And I never, so I maybe went longer without being diagnosed, which is just kind of interesting. Now you're like, well, maybe do you really have it? Because, and then in an update to her freak out, just to remind you guys, she, this happened October 11th. She was arrested at JFK after the Delta flight.
Starting point is 00:24:36 She punched one flight attendant and bit another. then she kicked a port authority officer and a hospital nurse after the plane landed. She was charged with two felony counts and a second degree assault. She pleaded not guilty on October 12th. Bale was set at 20,000 and she was released. And there's also an order of protection for the nurse. She's afraid that she's going to come. The nurse is afraid she's going to come after her.
Starting point is 00:25:01 And her defense is that she missed several doses of medication for serious neurological symptoms, then fell and hit her head, which left her severely confused. So FBI is still investigating, and her next date is January 19, 2027. So it kind of makes you wonder, was she drinking? Does she still have a drinking issue? She said in this interview that she doesn't drink anymore, which was, again, shot before this incident with Jenny McCarthy. So, again, I hope that she gets the proper help she needs.
Starting point is 00:25:34 I hope we actually find out the truth. there have been incidents where she has bit people in the past. She is joked about it in her book that she would be at a party and then just take someone's hand and bite them or bite their arm when she's not drunk or high. She also was arrested for misbehavior on a plane in 2016. And also, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair were in a movie together called The Sweetest Thing like 20 years ago. So 25 years ago.
Starting point is 00:26:05 So that's interesting. Okay, on Dancing with Stars, some Dancing with Stars news, Tyler Cameron from The Bachelor, he and his fiance, Tate Madden, revealed her pregnancy, they're pregnant, on Dancing with the Stars. I didn't understand what happened. He has a partner, they're dancing,
Starting point is 00:26:26 and it was like a dedication episode where they first honored his motherhood passed, and then they're dancing, and then at the end, I guess they switched partners or something, and then his fiance comes out, and then she reveals her tummy. So a lot of people, like Caitlin Bristow, who I follow, who was a former bachelorette, and they all are like friends, was like crying tears of joy. So people that are aware of their relationship were really happy about this. They got engaged back in August. So they must have known
Starting point is 00:26:55 they were pregnant then because she looks quite showing. But that was cool. And then this happened last week where the dancing with Stars Pro, Val Chermikoski, he was suspended for a week. And I didn't understand what the story was. And I'll tell you what happened. So his real wife was also dancing with the Stars person. So essentially, they're competing against each other. And she and her partner did a lift where the guy, the non-famous dancer lifted her. And Carriana Naba said, criticized that lift.
Starting point is 00:27:31 He went on Twitter, Val, and said, Ooh, I didn't like that. I was ready. You're lucky that fresh prince of Bel Air didn't come out on stage. He removed that tweet on X shortly after. But she, Karen Anabha, felt that was a threat to her because it was interpreted as keep my wife's name. I get it.
Starting point is 00:27:58 I get the joke. Okay. He was saying, you better keep my wife. wife's name out of your mouth, joking, or I'll be like the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Well, to remind you, that's when Fresh Prince of Hill Air, who is Will Smith, got angry at Chris Rock during the Oscars because he made fun of Jada Pinkett's shaved head by saying, are you going to be in the next GI, Jane? And then all of a sudden, he started screaming from his seat saying, keep my wife's mother effing name out of your mouth or something. And he got up on stage and he really slapped Chris Rock.
Starting point is 00:28:31 this wasn't great because I was doing a live juicy scoop at the time in Bray at improv, and people were getting alerts on their phone. And then I was like, okay, I think I need to address this. I couldn't believe it was real. Anyway, those two weirders are still together. Talk about a narcissistic, strange relationship, Will and Jada. But so she then went to HR. They suspended him for a week.
Starting point is 00:28:57 He did a public apology. Never should have joked about that. I think there's just something so interesting about when do you have to realize like, you know what? Why don't you just stay off social media when you have a paid big ABC, Hulu, whatever, Disney job? Why don't you just stick it to photos and like funny things? Why don't you not like anything?
Starting point is 00:29:21 Why don't you keep yourself commenting? Why don't you just say the minute that you have a real job in which somebody else is paying you on TV, I would just say. go, dude, take this as an opportunity of having more time off and stay off of social media. So that was what happened there. Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, a little more info about the gorgeous brand and model. Bitch of Bravo found this photo in which he did a modeling shoot with Luann de Liceps. money can't buy a class.
Starting point is 00:30:00 And so I really think it's interesting that he worked with Luann before as like a model. He's currently working with Chloe Kardashian as a model doing her perfume ad. And he also found his way into dating Bronwyn. So this guy gets around. I thought that was kind of interesting. And also, speaking of Mormons, Yes, we knew this was coming. It has now been announced and we got to see a fun trailer. It's coming out, I think, early November, but it is the secret lives of Mormon wives,
Starting point is 00:30:38 O.C. So they, a couple of the girls, Jen Affleck is kind of leading it. And she meets these other girls. And there's, from what I can tell, there's polyamorous or a threesome relationship where, and none of them are going to church anymore. Probably one is. But anyway, one girl is like, I love you to her husband. And then she turns to another beautiful, white, long, luscious locks of hair, freshly scrubbed face and kisses it. And okay, so she's got a girlfriend. And then, you know, crying or getting divorced or sad. It looks good. It looks juicy as fuck. So that's happening. Also, there's rumors that there's a real housewife of Houston. Beginning filming in which a comedian, Gary Owens, who is a big comedian, his wife, I believe it's
Starting point is 00:31:34 a second wife, she's a very pretty girl. They recently got married that, and I went to look at their wedding pictures and everything, that supposedly she's going to be one of those real housewives. I think that would be really kind of fun. That's something I'd like to see and kind of watch that world. So we'll see. There's also talk that there is a Real Housewives of Nashville beginning. And the people on that is Hannah Brown from Bachelor Nation, Holly Woodward, I don't know who that is, Jordan Washburn, and Jesse Decker.
Starting point is 00:32:15 That they're supposedly doing, and they're all young and gorgeous and seem to all have some type of already following. So that's Real House of Nashville, which they've tried to do for years. I know Josh Wolfe, my comedian friend, his wife, she put together a show with Nashville women before to try to make a TV show. But it wasn't this housewife type of stuff. It was really like women helping women and they, you know, finding their way in their careers, whether it was music or whatever in Nashville. And I was so excited for it.
Starting point is 00:32:52 but it didn't go. So I think they've been trying to do something in Nashville for a while, and I think it's a pretty great idea. Okay, we also also, oh my God, remember when I talked about office romance, and I ripped on that movie? Well, Jennifer Lopez is casually dating her office romance co-star, Brett Goldstein. It's on TMZ, and I just feel like we haven't heard from her for a while,
Starting point is 00:33:19 and to put out, like, have a statement go, that they're casually dating and it was like six months ago that this movie came out. I don't know. It's just weird. Maybe they really are. I don't know. It's not that interesting. The Golden Life premiered last Tuesday night.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Everybody doesn't know where to watch it. E is not part of Peacock anymore. And it comes on E on regular TV at 10 p.m. Which the people watching it don't want to watch it at 10 p.m. 10 p.m. So nobody knows where they can watch the rerun or what. And I think that's going to be a problem. Or it's going to be great because it's going to be people clamoring it for it so much that they're going to figure out a way to get us to see it. I only got to see clips. And Ramona was Ramona Ing and I love it. She had some event at like a store. And someone was like, oh,
Starting point is 00:34:18 hi, Ramona. And she was like, you know what? I don't know who you are. Okay. I don't know. you, this is all my really good friends. And that's why they're here to, like, have something that I like to be with people. I know. I don't know you. We're filming. So it's like, I really think, I don't mean to be rude, okay, but I think you have to leave. And I was like, oh my God. But she has always said, she does not like people walking up to her asking for autographs. She's always like, you know, I started a really great date with like a great guy. I don't like it when somebody walks up to me. And it's like, Ramona, can I talk? I'm like, no, you know what? You really can't. Okay. You can't because I'm having a lovely dinner with a lovely gentleman. And I don't want that
Starting point is 00:34:51 bothering. I don't even want him to know that I'm famous. So I need to find this show. Someone tell me where we can watch it. And good for all of them. All right, you guys, before we get to our very juicy interview, very behind the scenes of reality TV, I want to remind you again to go in the notes, wherever you're watching this. YouTube, I hope you've subscribed. Apple, Spotify, in the notes is the link to download my song. Make it part of your play. list. Share it with people, make me number one. Also, juicy patron, as always, this Friday,
Starting point is 00:35:40 and juicy crimes. All of it is at Heather MacDonald.net. Now we are going to get, listen, so many juicy things came out of this interview with Dorothy Wang. Formerly of Rich Kids at Beverly Hills, we talk about that. We talk about her ending of her friendship with Morgan Stewart and why. We talk about her wedding, so many things, Bling Empire, where she is today, having a billionaire dad, how that was found out. It was such an interesting interview and I got so many questions answered. I think you're going to love it. So right now, please welcome Dorothy Wang. Hello and welcome to Juicy Scoop. I have Dorothy Wang. You know her from rich kids of Beverly Hills, but her latest endeavor is becoming a mother. She's with child. But also, she's a newlywed,
Starting point is 00:36:28 and you get to see that on her own show, which is Dorothy's I Do. And I'm so excited to finally talk to you on Juicy Scoop. We've run into each other over the years and you've never been on the show. So welcome. Thank you. I'm so happy to be here finally. I mean, you're in the news a lot right now because you really share a lot on this this YouTube show, which is like a, but it's a professional reality show about going through your wedding. And I always think wedding talk is really interesting because if we haven't been through it, you kind of have a fantasy of what you want your wedding to be or you've attended weddings and everyone's so opinionated about it. And you come from. incredible wealth. So my first question is, did you even, did you have a budget for this wedding? Yeah, we had a budget. We do. You know, and I, you know, what was interesting is that, you know, I know that during wedding time, like, you know, you kind of sometimes go over budget or it's kind of like you extend your budget a little bit. I realize I actually like having restriction and through
Starting point is 00:37:43 my dress process and just kind of like when they say like, scumption. the limit. What do you want to do? That stresses me out. I like to have a little bit of restriction, whether it's time, whether it's budget, whether it's service, something to kind, or else it's just, it's like you really feel like you're just floating and you have nothing grounding you. So the most stressful for me was when, especially from some of my dresses, they said, we can design anything you want. I'm like, anything? Like so. I actually, even though they said that, I preferred to kind of try on a bunch of existing dresses and then took my favorite parts and pieces from existing dresses and said, okay, let's work with this as a base and then add on instead of kind of like creating something from my dreams. Well, I want to step back a little bit on, you know, how you got on TV.
Starting point is 00:38:37 And so you're, you know, your father's a billionaire and you grew up at Beverly Hills. Were you, you were born here or you guys came when you were a child? My parents both moved to the U.S. when they were going to grad school and then they met in Los Angeles. But my sister and I were both born in Los Angeles. And so what was that like when friends would find out, like, that you're just not just another kid with like a nice McMansion in Beverly Hills. Like the wealth is beyond that. And how do you manage that? the thing is that when we were growing up, we didn't really talk about money, we never talked about figures, it would be like we're going to dad's grand opening of his gigantic department store in China and like now he's opening a second and now there's a third and there's a fourth and now there's a hotel.
Starting point is 00:39:31 You know, it was more business oriented. Like, oh, we're opening all these things. We have all these businesses, but it was never talked about. Money was never talked about. And my mom definitely, like, she would give us grief if we didn't go and actually drink, like, the milk that she ordered for us at school for, like, the daily $2.50, you know? So we were very grounded growing up. We were not wasteful. We definitely were not taught, like, you know, you guys are rich and, you know, can do anything.
Starting point is 00:40:03 I did not know. I didn't. We never put a number on anything until Forbes did when I, freshman year. in college. And they released my father on the billion, the world billionaire list. And that was the first time. And where were you, where were you a freshman in college at? I was at SMU in Dallas, Texas. Yes. I decided I wanted to leave L.A. for a little bit and try something different. I went to Dallas, Texas. And that is when the first time there was a number placed. And I remember, I guess I must have gone home or during winter break or something because I just remember my dad on the phone screaming threatening to sue Forbes.
Starting point is 00:40:47 He doesn't want to be part of this. How can you print my name without my, you know, and I remember it's all public information and they said that. But, you know, it was not something that he really necessarily wanted out there. I think since then now, you know, he speaks at a lot of the Forbes conferences and, you know, he's gotten involved in that. But in the beginning, it was not real, just, you know, having the number out there. and being on the list, it was actually not something that he wanted.
Starting point is 00:41:15 So was that weird? Like when you were suddenly like your college friends, were you in a sorority, first of all? I was not in a sorority. So were your college friends then? I think they had tried out for them. I don't think they understood me. And I think at that time at SMU and in Texas, I think people didn't understand like I'm this Asian girl but grew up in Beverly Hills and I'm Asian.
Starting point is 00:41:40 but I like to go out. And it just wasn't, I don't think they totally got me there. I eventually ended up transferring to USC. Yeah. I can see that. And also, you know, I know that now so many kids are going to southern schools and Texas schools. But even like 15 years ago, it wasn't as common. And they, even now, it's like my niece is at a southern school with a big
Starting point is 00:42:10 sorority life. And I was like, well, you know, drop that you are an L.A. girl and like your aunt's just me. Like I'm like, and drop that, you know, they can all stay at your house, you know, because they live in Lakeita for Cichella. Like I was like saying, and she was like, like, they don't want L.A. people. They still want like the, oh, this girl went to my high school and and I know this person. And like, it's not like a coup at all. It's probably hard. to break in there than if you then at USC is buying it. So eventually you left. So was it difficult though?
Starting point is 00:42:51 Like with that news breaking out, did you feel like there were like eyes on you somehow or it didn't matter? I don't. To be honest, I don't think anyone in Dallas was like, it seems like a very New York, L.A. I don't know if anyone in Dallas was like checking the Forbes 400 and seeing like which students' parents were on there.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yeah. But I don't know. It was, I think it's more prevalent, I feel like in Beverly Hills that people found out and we knew or, you know, were excited about it. But I was always showing things, if that makes sense, like department store opening, new bag, new what you know what I mean? So I don't think it was like completely came out of nowhere. I just think that we, there was like a number established to what people were seeing. So when you then transferred to USC, were you like in a beautiful apartment? I don't think you were like living in a gross storm with a random roommate.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Like what is it like for someone of that privilege when you're in your 20s? Are you on a budget? Like how does that work? I definitely was on a budget. It wasn't like my parents were getting me an apartment at the Ritz, which, you know, later a lot of the kids were doing. At that time, the nicest apartment there was called the Tuscany. and it was a luxury-style apartment.
Starting point is 00:44:12 And I remember a girlfriend, we got a three-bedroom. My girlfriend and I had two of the bedrooms. And then somehow we were put into touch with Little Romeo, who was coming to play basketball next year. Oh, yeah. He was our third roommate. How fun was that? It was fun.
Starting point is 00:44:35 I mean, it was very interesting. Sometimes you'd wake up and Master P would be in our kitchen. be like, oh, hi, P. And like, we go to class and, you know, but I think our apartment we said was pretty empty because we were L.A. kids and we would always go home, you know, but it was nice for us to have the experience. And I know that we would say, okay, this week, let's actually go to the frats. Let's not go home. Let's go to the football game. And we, you know, once in a while, we still wanted that experience, the college experience. But a lot of the times, you know, after school, we were going to Neiman's and Barneys and Jones on third right away and coming back to the city.
Starting point is 00:45:15 And so when did the opportunity for rich kids of Beverly Hills come? How old were you and how did it come about? So when I was young all through high school, I was always very outgoing, very high-pitched, chitter-chatter, sharing everything all the time. I think it started with Twitter. I started tweeting things and I noticed that people liked what I was tweeting. Just like, it would be like Wednesdays are for diamond shopping with mother. It's like just random stuff and people just liked it.
Starting point is 00:45:45 And then when Instagram came about and I got Instagram and then there were now images with what I was doing that got popular. And they put me on this site all the time called Rich Kids of Instagram that was very popular then. So in my head, I was like, okay, like people seem there's interest there. And my whole life, I always, I watch reality shows. I always thought like, oh, I could do that. Not that I was studying, but I was like, oh, like, okay, I have the, you know, the life for that or the charisma for that. And so people always said, you should have a show, you should have a show. And then when I was in my senior year of college, I got my real estate license.
Starting point is 00:46:27 So I was actually licensed at the agency with my best friend, Farrah, and Hershey's ago. So I was going to start working there. But at the same time, I had been kind of selling different treatments and packages for shows to different networks and studios and production companies. I remember for a while when it was all about Ryan Sechrest Productions, I actually had pitched a show to Ryan Sechrist Productions. And then they came back and said they wanted us to be like assistance at a pawn shop. And we're like, I don't think that really matches. So then we moved on. And then eventually, actually, they were casting for a show about kids in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Or it was more like, I think it was more club. He was older than more. I think it was around 30s. We were only like mid-20s. And but my friend actually was Justin Sylvester. He said, you know, I heard they're casting for this. You should call in and talk to them. And so I joke now with the casting director, Geron O'Fier, that he,
Starting point is 00:47:33 took him seven calls to finally call me back. Finally, I knocked his door down. He called me back. I was just like, hi, my name is Dorothy Weg. I'm from Beverly Hills. I have this friend who's dating this person secretly and this and that and that. And he was just like, can you guys come in tomorrow? So I created like a cast out of my friends because I just knew kind of what sold what was interesting. So I knew which friends had the personality, which ones had, you know, they had a secret relationship. No one knew about. They had history. So I put together my cast. I think originally my show was called Lost Angeles because we're all 20-some-year-olds exiting college, not sure what we're doing with our lives and like being in Los Angeles and just kind of
Starting point is 00:48:16 floating around trying to figure it out. And we went in for this casting. They put us on tape. And I remember when I knew they were serious is when they called us on Christmas Eve. Because if they're working and looking at the tapes over a holiday and they're not waiting until New Year. That means that, you know, they want to move on it. Well, Lost Angeles is a great name. But I also know when I've like pitched things how a city like Beverly Hills in the title and things like that. Because the rest of the world, when you say Beverly Hills, they immediately see that.
Starting point is 00:48:56 And so it's a very good marketing tool if it's in the title and things like that. So, but I do think Los Angeles could be, you know, a great title for a movie, a book, whatever. I love it. And I love the idea that you're in, it's, you know, I always thought, I remember I wanted to, like, write a movie called Six Years Out and it was six years out from college because I felt like around 28 is such like a pivotal time for a group of friends of like, are you in the career that you want? Are you heading towards marriage? Like, it's just kind of an interesting. time where it's like, are you still going to the games every weekend or have you like moved on or something? Transitional time. So in pitching your group was that, did you have Brendan Fitzpatrick and Morgan because they were already a couple, Morgan Stewart? So with Morgan, I had asked her because, you know, she had a big personality and she made it
Starting point is 00:49:55 very known. She wants to be on TV. You also need to work with people who want to do it. Right. And you can't really convince someone who's private to be on something like this. So, yes, it was Morgan, me. And then I knew that Brendan and her were secretly dating. I also was friends with Brendan for a long time.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Why were they secretly dating? Because I don't know. I think they came from two different friend groups. And so no one had known that they had crossed over into each other for a little bit. It was just early on. I think they hadn't gone public yet. And my friend Johnny Drew Bell. The only one from the original Rich Kids cast that was not from me was Roxy.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Because Roxy and I actually went to USC together and spring break senior year. We got into this like massive fight. So I originally didn't want her to be on. So I think when the producers knew that, they're like, let's call this girl. But she obviously was, you know, a great addition. very like Beverly Hill, sparkly, fun. And also then eventually came E.J. I met E.J. at a club in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Magic Johnson's child. Yeah. Magic's son. And we met at Bootsie Bellows and he was always fun. And one day I was in the club. I was like, oh, I'm talking to E. He's like, I'm talking to E. I was like, should we like mix shows?
Starting point is 00:51:20 And then he said he agreed to come on to our show. Yes. And so how many seasons did that do on E? So that was four seasons. And why did it end? You know, I think at the time, it's one of those things where I felt like we were very maybe underappreciated at the time. It was weird because I feel like with the title, first of all, we had a very, very kind of hot topic title that we hated.
Starting point is 00:51:49 So it was called the Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. I remember when they announced a show title to us, the first thing I said, was, well, isn't that redundant? Why do we have to put Rich in Beverly Hills in the same sentence? It's, you know, we're stuffing it in their faces. So when you come out with the title like that, people, you know, we did have targets on our backs. I remember the first year of press that we did. Or, you know, I think it was before the first season came out. It was rough. It was tough. And we just kept having to say, like, just watch the show. You know, it wasn't about us flaunting our wealth every day. Like it was in the background, like, oh, we're pulling up in this car. We're going here, but we're
Starting point is 00:52:30 not like sitting down talking about. And I think it took, I saw a turn after the third episode. People were like, oh, these kids are funny. Like, oh, like, I relate to them. They could be my friend. So, you know, we saw a turn in the tide, but the first couple weeks were very difficult. And the show, you know, I think in the beginning it was really marketed. And so, you know, I think in the beginning, it was really marketed. supposed to be a bubbly buddy comedy where it was like me and Morgan kind of buddy comedy and ensemble cast, fun and light. And I think where it changed was then VH1 was doing these shows that were a little bit darker. And then they thought maybe we should start doing stuff like that. And then, you know, of course, if part of the buddy comedy doesn't want to film scenes and be a
Starting point is 00:53:19 buddy comedy with you anymore, like dynamics change. They want to bring in new people. There's, you know, So I think it just kind of lost its initial DNA. And at the time, I think the official reasoning from E was that, you know, the show was doing well. At that point, we were ranked second after the Kardashians. And they said that they had invested in a group of girls who cost less than us and are willing to do more. So they banked on this other show. What was that? It was called Wags.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Oh, yeah, Wax? And they banked on that being a franchise. They wanted that to be like real housewives. They thought that had a big longevity and it could be in every city. I can see that that's very typical and also makes sense when you're trying to, it's a business. It's called show business for a reason, you know. And for us, what was a detriment to us was that they did try to franchise Rich Kids at Beverly Hills in different locations. There was like a Miami. I think they did a whole pilot presentation.
Starting point is 00:54:36 But I mean, they did come back and just say it's not like the original. And they tried to do it in the UK and it didn't pan out. And I think, you know, they were really looking for something they could franchise. And for some reason, rich kids was they just couldn't find the right people or the right chemistry. and that ended up, you know, hurting us. Yeah, I can totally, that makes a lot of sense. So with Morgan, so you guys were good for a while, you were good on the show, then it was like a, you took.
Starting point is 00:55:07 I mean, not always. There were, if you watched season, I forgot, season four, there was a revelation that came out. That she had spoken poorly of you. Yes, so she was referring to me as a racial slur on set. around, you know, everyone. And that was, that was true? Yes.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Oh, so then how did you address that with her? I mean, we brought it up. Obviously, everything gets bleeped out and censored. And at the time, I think it was, how do you know, or who told you this? And I was, I think, you know, and I watch it back. And a lot of times when I watch things back at that age, I, my biggest, dream is to go back in time to when I maybe wasn't as confident or wasn't as strong. Because I do feel like when you're on a show with big personalities who can scream louder than you and be a little bit more
Starting point is 00:56:06 vicious than you, you're a little scared. You know, I was always tiptoeing around. I didn't know, you know, how they were going to react. So I brought it up on the show and, you know, I think that she apologized and we tried to move on. And I, you know, I, you know, I think that she apologized. And I know at the time she had her wedding coming up. I had a lot of pressure, unfortunately, from networks and producers, you know, a bunch of white people telling me, like, move on and get over it. We have a show to finish. You know, Network wants you at that wedding.
Starting point is 00:56:41 So, you know, I tried my best to move on. And then there obviously is always like a, oh, but you can't say it's racist because that's so awkward for them, you know? So I think a lot of it kind of got demoted to a mean comment, not a racial comment. And it just, you know, and at the time, I think it's interesting because what I've learned with filming is in the time, maybe the people around you trying to make you feel something or you're overreacting. But when things air and the public comments and they're like, what? This is ridiculous. You know, then you're not that you feel validated, but you feel like, wow.
Starting point is 00:57:23 maybe I didn't overreact or maybe I actually wasn't allowed to react how I should have or taking it as seriously as it should I should have. So that was kind of always glazed over and like, are you going to be at the wedding? And, you know, if let's try to, you know, gloss over and tie it up in a pretty ribbon at the end. So somehow you guys made it. it back, you were heading towards your wedding, you were planning on including her, and then you had this like very awkward dinner. And I think this is such an interesting subject to talk about and very relatable. Because your wedding is, whether you have a huge budget or a small budget, you hope that
Starting point is 00:58:14 it's only going to be your one wedding, right? Yeah. And you want to be great and you want the vibes to be perfect. And so can you just sort of explain what made you go? I don't think the vibe, I don't think this is where it's at. And you chose to not invite her. Yeah. I mean, I think starting when I had to gloss over things and forgive and, you know, be the bigger person, I think I kind of took that role. And over time, you know, obviously there are other things leading up. And I just always, you know, was the bigger person. Don't overthink it. You know, move on, move on, move on, move forward, move forward. And, you know, then you hear other things and this and that. And so there's already things brewing. And then two weeks before the wedding, the last time you see them before the wedding, they, something else happens. And it's just, you know, the end for me. So was it, was it like she thought she was going and she was there at like the pre-parties? No, no, no, no. I gave notice. Okay.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Notice after. No, I think maybe it was like two weeks, which is short, but that was, you know, when after a bad experience occurred. So I just, you know, when it's your wedding, and I say this all the time, when it's supposed to be the happiest moment in your life, you can really tell who's so happy for you. And you can just feel it. And the people who are not and the people that don't have genuine intentions for you, they start acting weird.
Starting point is 00:59:53 Like they kind of show themselves. You know what I mean? They just, it sticks out like a sore throat. You feel the energy is off. They start maybe being extra shy and extra mean to you and extra, you know. And then at a certain point, you know, for me, I think that I was also with my culture and just with everything, just, you know, move on, be the bigger person. Don't make a big deal out of it. But at a certain point.
Starting point is 01:00:18 What was it? Was it like an email or a text or did you pick up the phone? Oh, I sent a very long email, a very long, thorough email because I did feel like we do have history. I mean, some people say, you know, you should have just been like, bye, you're not invited. But for me, I felt like, you know, more was owed than just that. And I needed to kind of explain and, you know, and it's not just this one night, but just over time how it's been for the last 15 or maybe 12 years. So, you know, I had something interesting like that happened where a very good friend of
Starting point is 01:01:00 mind, we just stopped talking during COVID. It was over something dumb, but it had been so many years. And the fact that neither of us ever picked up the phone again, I was like, huh, and then time kept going. And then within the group, sometimes I would. be part of a group text or something. And then she got engaged and I did reach out. And it was like, congratulations and everything. And then there were a couple little conversations here. They're funny about like, you know, sex in the city or and just like that or something. And I had a mutual, you know,
Starting point is 01:01:36 some mutual friends that were like, you, you know, you guys need to make this better like, because her wedding's coming up. And I really said, listen. It's her first wedding. And it's her first wedding. She's an older bride. This is her wedding. And I feel like if I reach out now to push to go, and it's me, and I've got the big personality, I'm a little bit famous, whatever, I'm like, maybe that's not the element she wants that day. Yeah. And maybe she's somewhat relieved that we are no longer close. I don't know. But I think she is the bride should be the one that leads it. And I just didn't want anything to be coming back on me that I pushed and I went. And that's very mature and thoughtful and kind of you to do to kind of recognize that and how she might be feeling.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Yeah. And it's been a few years since. And now we're friendly within the group. We're never going to be what we were, which I think is okay for both of us. You know, I think sometimes friendships have a, you know, they say a reason, a season of lifetime. but I also feel that's a little too cut and dry. I do think that there's times like a marriage that you're so close with your girlfriend and you talk on the phone every day, every day, every day. And then when there's a break, you're like, wow, did both of our lives just improve during that break? Maybe we weren't good for each other.
Starting point is 01:03:02 Maybe we all the talking was sort of a toxic thing and it was neither one's fault, but like it wasn't good. And maybe, you know, as long as it's like, you know, done in a class, way, maybe it will take years. And maybe it will be, you'll have a chuckle at a dinner, you know, you'll be seen next to each other and you'll have a great fucking time laughing at this dinner three years from now. But you also won't call each other the next day. Yeah. And it won't pick up again. But you can have, and I think that's something that not enough women discuss. Because it is very, you know, I mean, people get more, people, women, too, are more fascinated by
Starting point is 01:03:44 best friends, especially somebody that we see best friends on TV, you know, or housewife, best friends, something. People are more fascinated with celebrity female best friends breaking up sometimes and why, and they're like, who did what and who said, then someone ending the marriage of 25 years with their father or their four kids, they're like, you kick the curb, kick him to the curb girl, good for you. But when it's about women, they're like, what? How does this happen? Yeah, what happened? And you're like, you know what? Life happened. And I realized like this situation the way it is now is just not serving either one of us to the best of our lives going forward. And that's what I had put in my email as well. And, you know, it was very difficult and hard for me because we had this public relationship, obviously. And part of me doesn't want to let down the OG Rich Kids fans who think that we're like besties. And, and everything's good. But at a certain point,
Starting point is 01:04:46 it just, you know, and I hope, and I said I hope that one day we could, you know, move forward authentically and genuinely, and I wish you're all the best. But I think we, you know, it's just,
Starting point is 01:04:58 at some point I had to take a stand and I think going into a wedding, starting a life, now starting a family, you know, it just, at a certain point, like,
Starting point is 01:05:07 you're kind of left with no, so much has happened that, you're left with, you know, no other choice and to finally stick up for yourself after all these years. And then when you did that and did that when you press send, did you have more anxiety or like a relief? Oh, I was anxious. No, it's scary. It's scary, obviously, to cut the cord with someone, especially someone with the, like that, I guess. And you don't know, and you know that there's going to be repercussions and it's going to make life more difficult. And people are going to be like, quote, stuck in the middle and you're going to lose other friends because of this.
Starting point is 01:05:51 And now, you know, now instead of having a secret enemy, you have a public enemy, I guess. And you, you know, but. That's also very interesting too when you reflect on something like that. You're like, were you my frenemy? You know what I mean? Were you by friend of me? Like you enjoyed my personality and you found me funny. But did you secretly like resent and hate me? Like all that goes on and you're like, whoa, what was the truth? And then you're kind of like, but do I want to sit down and find out the truth? I don't know that I do. I think I do want to know the truth. I think I just want to be free. And what I said is that, you know, a lot of time to just feel you, it's as if I'm a bird. And if I'm a burden onto someone, I have other things I can be doing. I don't need to be burdening you with my personality and my time and my efforts and my energy.
Starting point is 01:06:51 You know? So what was the response back and how quickly did it come back? There was no response back, which is kind of what I expected because I just know how she is. and there's not a lot of, I want to say, like, what would she respond back? Like, this is how I feel, you know. Instead of responding back, actually, that week was spent grilling all of our mutual friends asking who leaked what to Dorothy. What does she know? Because instead of, I guess, you could, how I feel is if it was genuine and maybe it was a misunderstanding and she's, and they are.
Starting point is 01:07:37 are so confused what happened. I mean, how much can you tell me what the crux of it was? You reach out. You would reach out and just be like, no, no, what was the crux? What was the crux of what you heard that was such a turnoff? It was just the final straw of everything. It was being mischuted in person. Well, I say on the show, you know, months before they invite me to a dinner that happens
Starting point is 01:08:03 to be two weeks before the wedding. and asked me to, you know, oh, I'll send you product, blah, blah, blah, all this stuff. I wear the product, I go. And it was very clear they wanted me there for certain things. But then when it came to sit down, and there are only four influencers there, you know, public people there. I was sat in the corner very far away from everyone else that they didn't want me to maybe be around or have also be associated with. And it just, you know, we know how these doors are. That happens too in Hollywood where it's like they kind of don't want you to connect with their people.
Starting point is 01:08:49 Yes. Because then opportunities and things could come for you. And I was also, I was friends with these people. But they wanted to invite them and become friends with them. And so curiously, I'm not, you know, a. wasn't like Anna Wintour was there and I'm crying because I was three seats over. You know what I mean? Like I know what would have been my natural seat, you know? And it was an empty seats and four over from that. Yeah. You know? And then so then it's and it's here's a thing. It's not the big, the biggest thing in the world, but it was just the final thing.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Right. For me. And, and just wanting me there for the. But then also keeping me away, keeping me in my place, and that whole thing. It just also like, I don't know. I also think that I've been in New York for four years and people here do not play these fake L.A. games like that. Yeah. If you like someone, you invite them. If you like someone, you see them.
Starting point is 01:09:56 So my relationships since I've moved here have been very honest, very direct, very intentional. Because people here are busy. They have no time to be playing these things. If they make time to see you, they actually want you there. I feel like, no, I don't want to generalize everyone in L.A., but I find it's a little bit more L.A. of a characteristic to be a little bit more facadey and want to keep a connection without actually liking the person or wanting to be around them. So true. Right? Really true.
Starting point is 01:10:27 Really true. And, I mean, what did you think when you heard the news of Brendan Fitzpatrick? and the lawsuit involving accusing of an $80 million Ponzi scheme. I was shocked. I was not to sound mean, but I'm shocked who would invest $80 million with him. That was my, how did he find so many people to give him investments? Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:58 It's a couple different things. There's the 80 million Ponzi scheme. Then there's like this Greek hotel. Yeah, it's a $2.80 million thing. So for my experience with Brendan, he was always very nice, very funny, kind, silly. I did not know him to be a businessman. I did not know him to be someone who I would invest money in or take financial advice or, you know. So I'm surprised, honestly, that these figures are so low. large and he was able to find so many people to invest with him. Yeah, I mean, that's always very fast. I feel like this person that I, you know, read about now is not the Brendan that I was very close with Brendan for my 20s before, you know, in my early 20s, probably for 10 years.
Starting point is 01:11:54 Yeah. And then obviously when, you know, they divorced and then he got remarried and he moved, you know, we kind of felt, but you still feel like, you know, the person would be the same person, but to me, what I'm reading now is, is crazy. Yes. So, um, so how did you meet your husband? I met Brandon. Now I'm saying Brendan. Oh, my God. In New York, my first Halloween in the city. So I moved in January and I met him in October of 22, I believe. I'm really bad with the years. So yeah, 2020, I think. And, And we met at a Halloween party, but he was always friends with some of my girlfriends.
Starting point is 01:12:39 I would hear his name. They'd say, oh, I wonder what Brandon's doing tonight. And I never met him. And what was cute was that we were all going to be together upstairs, but him and I actually met on our own first going up the elevators. And I didn't know that was my friend's friend, Brandon. And he didn't know that that was his friend's friend, Dorothy. And we kind of connected.
Starting point is 01:13:00 And he asked me if I wanted a drink. And we were getting a drink. And then all of our mutual friends came over and said, how did you guys know each other? And I said, how did you know, how do you know this random man I just met downstairs? So it's sweet that we, you know, kind of met on our own. Yes. And so I think it's great that we get to watch your wedding and the ups and the downs and the things that didn't work out. I want people to go watch it because I do think it's very entertaining and I think you did it well. And, you know, in between rich kids and Dorothy, I do, which is your own production, you were part of Netflix, Bling, what's what was it called? Empire Bling. Wait, Bling Empire. They started off in L.A. And then you kind of joined the New York version. And how was that experience?
Starting point is 01:13:50 I that experience is very different for me than rich kids um I think being with E and NBC and our production company I always appreciated the production company but I really when joining something like bling empire I realize how much a production team really cared and how much the network cared I think with Netflix they are a big company with many shows they're they're more of like a content crew like a content hub that they're just cranking out content. So it was a different experience. Like, it's like six weeks filming and this and that. Like, you don't really, you know, meet the executives. You don't really, it's just kind of like churned out. So it was very fast-paced. And it was a little bit different of an experience for me.
Starting point is 01:14:37 So you were glad it ended or you're okay with it ending? No, I think. But with Netflix, the viewership is, you know, undeniable that you think. Right. And way more, even more international than E. Yes. Yes. And I. I think with Eno, we were used to, you know, they wanted to create something that went on for a longer time. I think Netflix, they don't actually want you to go back and watch it again. They want you to move on to the next thing. So it's very like when it's your week to debut, you like hear from them. But after that, it's like, you know, there's not a lot of.
Starting point is 01:15:13 Well, I think the biggest difference between your two reality show things, too, is it was week to week. like you said, you had to wait another week, what's going to happen next on E. And with the Hulu shows and the Netflix reality show, like Secret Lives and whatnot, we get it all to binge. And sometimes as someone who covers things, I don't really like that. Because I like to cover something and I like to have it piecemeal and I like to kind of go, what's going to happen next? And so it's like if I get really into it, and it's hard for me to find, you know, seven hours
Starting point is 01:15:50 to binge a whole thing. Yes. And then it is kind of over. And then it's sort of out of the zeitgeist about two weeks out. Yes. So it's a very different like press cycle, social media cycle for the reality star.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Yes. So for Dorothy's I Do, which we put on YouTube, we actually did two episodes. And each episode's like 30 minutes or so. We released two episodes. Next Sunday, two episodes. And then finale episode,
Starting point is 01:16:19 the following Sunday. So we had like a three-week little run, but we released two episodes per week until the finale. And how was that process? Did you enjoy it? Do you want to share more of your life being that now you are pregnant? Congrats. Thank you. So for this project, you know, I've always been just talent for hire.
Starting point is 01:16:42 I would be very involved in production. By the end of the day, I had no control, no ownership, no say, really. So for this, you know, my husband, he actually is very private. I think he probably would have never guessed that he would sign off to be part of this or, you know, partnering to produce this. But he would see that, you know, people, when we were walking around in Soho, everyone would be like, Dorothy, we miss you. What, like, give us something. And, you know, he did when we, after we got engaged and were planning the wedding, he said, you know, is this something that you would like to document and share with everyone? And then I was like, oh, you never ask.
Starting point is 01:17:21 But like, I was like, yeah. But, you know, he said, let's do it in the right way. Let's create it ourselves. We can start our own production company. You know, we wanted to be on YouTube because, first of all, we know, I've been in this game for long enough, where I know if we had approached a network and said, oh, we're doing a wedding show. They're going to say, okay, we need three fights, your mom seven times. who's going to be your co-star, like a lot of mandates, right? That for this, we didn't really want to feel forced or, you know,
Starting point is 01:17:57 to have too many opinions and things we had to do. Because this is also, it's our wedding. It's sacred to us. We want to tell it how it actually happens and not have this, you know, kind of like falsified manufactured production. Because for me, with the reality shows, I hated the fighting. It was not my forte. I hated doing it. And it just, you know, is not me. And so that is something that we felt that, you know, was missing. Yeah, I think that's really interesting that you said that. Like, I knew if I went to a production company that those would be the mandates. And I think as people that are connoisseurs of reality TV, not just television, people I've worked in television, but a lot of the audience is,
Starting point is 01:18:47 getting kind of tired of that formula. And I think there is going to be a move to something a little different. Real drama is very interesting when a marriage breaks up or when two French, two girlfriends no longer are on the same page. Things like that are very compelling, very real life. But when you're watching something and you're like fighting about, you know, when you're at a big dinner table and someone stirs the pot and spills the tea. And someone has to say, well, so-and-so so that you said this in the car ride over. And you're like, we know why you split the four, you know, four people into two different cars just for this. Yes.
Starting point is 01:19:25 And it just feels like, ugh. So I love that you did this. Thank you so much for coming on, Juicy Scoop. How far along are you? I am 17 weeks. So I think that's a little bit over three and a half months. And when was your actual wedding day? My actual wedding was a little bit over a year ago.
Starting point is 01:19:44 So it was October 11, 20th. So you did marry as a virgin. This pregnancy came after the wedding day. Yes. Very good. That's what we need for sure. Do you know what you're, have you told us what you're having or that's all a secret? We actually are go, we filmed something for YouTube. Oh, good. So you know, you know. I know. Yes. Okay, cool. We just did it. We just found that. I love that. Okay, well, tell everybody where they can follow you and all of that. So Dorothy's I do. Our five-par wedding special is on YouTube and I'm on Instagram and TikTok. Oh, and threads recently. Just your name, Dorothy Wang. Yeah. Perfect. This was so fun. Thank you for being so frank and honest. I feel like I'm just excited for your future. And it was really great to finally get to have this moment to talk to you.
Starting point is 01:20:39 Yeah. Thank you. Long overdue. Yes. Thank you.
