Starting point is 00:00:03 Hello and welcome back to the podcast. This week we almost did no notes, but I thought of some things that I wanted to share this episode. So we do have our notes out, our handy-dandy notebooks. And we're going to be talking about a few things about what the first year of having a baby was like because Elliot is turning one. And if you're watching this, he's probably one right now. That's so true. It's so crazy. Oddly enough.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Yeah, I still can't fathom it. I am so proud of myself and Evan for we kept a human baby alive for a year, which is a crazy thing to do. So I'm going to share some things that I saw online, but also that are just so true about having a baby and like things that nobody really says to you before you have a baby. And then when you hear them after, you're like, wait, okay, yeah, that's so true. also we're going to be talking still about a few shady things going on in pop culture and in the news a lot of this stuff went to the news which is shocking usually i just see my stuff on tictock but not typically not this time um and yeah so let's get into this episode first of all elia is turning one
Starting point is 00:01:19 and two's early celebrate we took them to rainforest cafe my dream i've been asking haley i think since before Elliot was born if we could take him to Rainforest Cafe and that dream has now come true Elliot has experienced the greatness of Rainforest Cafe and let me say
Starting point is 00:01:41 he was a champ there you would think that he was a regular at the rainforest because he was so chill. Yeah I was very impressed he was not really that alarmed at any of the animals or the rainstorm that I was nervous about.
Starting point is 00:02:00 I was, and it happened so quickly, like we had just, like, sat down at the booth, barely sat down at the booth. First rainstorm happened, and he just, he looked around, but I was like, I don't know, you just never know, like, will they be scared? Like, are they going to be nervous?
Starting point is 00:02:17 It was a fun experience. I think ultimately the fish tanks were his main. He was into the fish. it in and that makes sense because we brought him to the aquarium at the same mall that has the rainforest cafe when he was like four or five months old i want to say and obviously at that time they're not like super that into anything but he still loved it mainly the bubbles and this time he was way more into it and the fish really still the show which maybe we've influenced him a little bit because I will say we recently started letting him watch a little bit of TV like just with us.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Yeah. And we'll do like 10 minutes at a time. It's usually if I need to like trim his nails or something and I'm like yeah, I need him to be distracted. Um, and we put on finding Nemo recently. And I think that we may have influenced him into liking fish. Is that his first Disney movie he was watched? Maybe. I think so. We did watch the movie Rio. Not Disney. What is that? I think that's like universal, I want to say. The fact that you even know like what isn't, like that is not Disney. Oh and speaking of Disney guys for those of you, maybe we only talked about it on the Patreon bonus content. We did only talk because we came up with it. Right then there. See that's what you're missing if you're not on the Patreon bonus content. But this week we are doing a two truths and a lie Disney edition and Brittany is going to tell me two
Starting point is 00:03:47 truths about Disney and a lie I'm gonna guess and maybe we'll bring drinks into it we haven't figured that part out yet and I didn't tell her that part no I did not know that like maybe if I find the lie you drink and if I'm wrong I drink feels like my bachelorette party all over again I kind of like that idea so if you'd like to see that go join us on the Patreon bonus content but yeah so that's what we did to early celebrate his birthday and this weekend if you're watching this to celebrate his birthday we're doing a pizza theme party because he was born on pie day so we're doing like elliott's pizzeria and we're so excited to do it and i just he's going to have his first cake um it's just crazy it really is and i'm not gonna i already told myself like i'm not doing the emotional thing on the podcast
Starting point is 00:04:33 so as i go through these points of like what i've learned in the first year of being a mom or like sayings that I've heard that are just so true, maybe it will help some people to not be so scared about being a parent. Or if you're going to be a parent soon, this may help you. Or it could just resonate with you if you already are a parent. But one of the things that I kept seeing online is like your baby doesn't need you to be perfect. They just need you. And I felt so like, obviously it's easy to say but there are so many times where I'm like is he perfect is he happy is is he is he cold is he hot is he and he just like want everything to be so perfect and like at the end of the day they don't care like they just need you that's all that um babies need just like
Starting point is 00:05:25 I don't know why too this reminded me of how punch just needed like his stuffy like that's babies just need their parents um and yeah that one resonated with me a lot because I did try to make everything perfect and that's just not reality and it also just doesn't matter um the newborn stage feels super super long when you're in it but then it passes so fast and you look back and it's so true of like the days feel so long but then the years feel short yeah like a year passed and i'm like what but when i was in it every day like rocking him to sleep a hundred times i was like oh my gosh this is never ending and now I'm like I want it back um so yeah and I was also a mom that was guilty of contact napping and I still do it so I think like now I appreciate them because they're
Starting point is 00:06:19 not as many but in the beginning you're like what the heck is going on um sleep changes constantly I feel like that was something too when I was pregnant I remember we talked about like things people ask you when you're pregnant or like say to you when you're pregnant. Oh yeah. The craving thing. The sleep thing is like something amongst other parents that is it. Always gets brought up like, oh, are they sleeping through the night? I feel like that's a very like that is like one of like the top.
Starting point is 00:06:50 I'm again, not a parent, but like even just you saying that, I feel like that is very much of a thing that people will ask new moms. I think it just comes out and like it's like just a talking point. And I mean, I'm guilty of it. too sometimes because like honestly I just want to know as a point of reference of like am i struggling that bad more than you or like who's struggling more not that it matters but just to feel better um that i'm not alone and yeah that is so true we have we still to this day one year is in i just told i actually told loving this today i go so since elliott moved to his own room like to sleep in his
Starting point is 00:07:27 own crib not like the bassinet in our room i pretty much like took overnight shift because i was like okay the end is near it was like at seven months yep i'm like okay by the time he's a year like we'll be so past him waking up in the night and like i've got it from here this past like week two weeks three week i think it's been like a month now um right leading up to him turning one he has been putting me through the ringer and i literally i told evan last night i woke oven up finally like i was like hey did you really i go you have to get up and so he did he did but he did but gladly he is not like he said he wouldn't do it anymore I just made that decision because I'm like he's going to be one soon we're going to be out of the night it's like I want to be the one
Starting point is 00:08:10 that does it yeah myself and I told Evan I go I made that decision when there was a clear end in sight in my mind and now there is no end in sight so like you have to step back in because I can't another thing is you become way more capable than you think and that was another conversation I had with Evan because sometimes I'm like how do people do it like how do we do it we it's there are days when you just feel like this is not possible like you're so tired you're so exhausted and then you just do it and you just realize like after and you look back like how did we get through that and you just like do it just your mindset changes I think even birth like I was recently when Elena came on we were talking about it and I'm like realistically no one thinks like everyone's scared of that
Starting point is 00:09:03 situation they're like how could you ever give birth that's a crazy thing like is it scary is it hurt and it's something like in your mind in the back of your mind and then but when you get to the situation yeah you just like do it and then I feel like you get like mom strength for like all of it like it's just like you just do it well even like think about it too much just happens you just have no choice yeah yeah you're just going through but also speaking of that do you remember when we were like younger. I feel like we used to hear stories about this all the time. Now, I haven't heard one in a while, but how like moms in emergency situations would get like literal random strength and be able to lift cars off of, yeah. Like that's insane. No, but it needs to be studied more. I do think we need
Starting point is 00:09:50 to hear more about that because I do believe that to be true. Very factual. Yeah. It's for sure. Another big one is you don't lose yourself. You just expand. And I definitely felt this like right after giving birth, like freshly postpartum. I was like, oh my gosh, I have no free will anymore. Like my life is just all revolving about around like this baby. Like Ellie, this tiny human like I can't do what I want to do when I want to do it. I distinctly remember it like the first this is very, Ellie was very, very fresh and you were like, I'll never get Starbucks again.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Literally. That's what I thought. I don't know. Like, because you were in the thick of it. Yeah. It was a big change. There was just no, like, every second revolved around him. And it still does.
Starting point is 00:10:42 And that was also something I was never fully prepared for is like for the rest of my life. I will just never be able to not think about somebody else. Right. Like you can't just think about yourself anymore. And you don't. Literally your brain won't let you. And it's something like you just aren't fully prepared for until you're in it. But now.
Starting point is 00:11:01 not being freshly postpartum. It's like, I still am me, but it's just a different version or like a more expanded version. Yeah. Like you have new qualities and new strengths and new things that you've went through that change you.
Starting point is 00:11:16 But like, for the better. Yeah, I don't know. And then the main thing, this is how I'll end it. Because this one really helped me like a lot. If you're worried about being a good mom or a good parent, you probably already are.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And that was like a big thing for me. I was constantly worried. Like am I doing the best thing? Am I doing whatever? Like everything I can and and everything like I kept seeing this online. Like if you're even thinking about that, then you're probably a good parent. Because like people who just don't give a crap like aren't going to think about it. And they're not going to worry about being a good parent.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Yeah. And I think that's a common one. So yeah. We're not going to continue that conversation because I fear. Tears would occur. No, I had to stop looking at you towards the end of it. I feel tears would occur. We're not doing that today. This is a happy episode. And on the topic of motherhood, today's episode is brought to you by ritual. I can't believe it's been a full year since I was pregnant, but it actually feels like the perfect time to share something that made my pregnancy a little more peaceful because now that I have a toddler, peaceful is not really the vibe of our house anymore. My son actually turns one the day after this episode drops. which is actually wild to me. Like, how did we go from late-night pregnancy Googling to chasing a tiny human around the house?
Starting point is 00:12:38 But during my pregnancy, one thing I genuinely didn't stress about was my prenatal because I was taking ritual. I used rituals essential prenatal when I was pregnant with him, and it was one of those things that just gave me peace of mind. Their prenatal is clinically backed
Starting point is 00:12:53 and made with traceable ingredients like coline, folate, and omega-3, so I always felt good knowing what I was taking and why those nutrients were included. And honestly, the experience of taking it matters too. Ritual formulated their prenatal with bioavailable nutrients designed for absorption, and their patented capsule is designed to dissolve in the small intestine,
Starting point is 00:13:15 which is optimal place to absorb the nutrients. I personally found it really gentle and easy to take compared to other supplements I've tried. And even though I'm not currently pregnant, I still take ritual and plan to keep using them going forward. Thank you to ritual for sponsoring today's episode. Also another crazy thing this is random, but I think this is also why I panicked freshly postpartum because obviously 314 pie day, Elliot's birthday, is right around St. Patrick's Day. It sure is. And one of our favorites. One of our
Starting point is 00:14:00 favorite holidays we usually do something every single year and I think that was a big fear of of mine of like I'll never have my holiday anymore um but I that's that's not a concern of mine anymore I'm not worried about that it's not the same day anyways I don't know why I like panicked about that no they're just around the same time but yeah around the same time and I also was like mad at myself because I'm like I already like not ruined Christmas but like the holidays my birthday's and the holidays like right in the thick of it and you know. Elliot's is in the thick of it. Maybe in the future.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Maybe that's our thing. Maybe you'll have a Halloween baby. I thought that would be sick. I always thought that. I fear that that may be, maybe down the line. Could be in the cards. Yeah, so that's another thing.
Starting point is 00:14:47 We had St. Patrick's Day coming up to, if you're watching this, which is why I wore all green today. And this is something I just made up, but since Brittany didn't wear green, it's going to be a buck. I didn't know we were selling. celebrating yet.
Starting point is 00:15:01 But whatever. I was going to say I don't make the rules, but I just made up that rule. Yeah, you literally go. I know. You literally word for it say, I'm going to make up a rule. Yeah. Anyways, it's kind of like when we were kids and the rule was, if you didn't wear green to bed, the leprechauns were coming to steal.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And that was something we took a little too seriously when we were younger. And I will be practicing it this year, too, and I will start doing it with Elliot. Oh, my gosh. She, yes. But, like, he, I won't tell him that, like, leprechauns are going to take that. You know, mess up his playroom and then, like, do, like, little... I don't know. Lepercone.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Yeah, like how they do in the classrooms. Aw. That was, like, such a fun part of, I feel like St. Patrick's Day in school was, like, going to recess. I don't remember if it was after, in my head, it was after recess. Might have been the morning, but then the classroom was all messed up. And you were like, oh, my gosh, the lepercon. Yeah. That's actually a good idea.
Starting point is 00:15:58 I will do that when he's... a little bit older to understand. Well, here's the other thing that's crazy too. And I said, I'm like, I don't watch scary movies anymore because I don't want to go in his room in the dark in the middle of the night. Yeah. I also, even scary scenes, like in Nemo, I will not put on for him because I'm like, I don't want him to start having nightmares or like, I don't know how nightmares
Starting point is 00:16:20 beginner form, but like I know some of my, some of my mom friends. Yeah. Their kids like are scared of monsters. And I'm like, what do kids think? Because I was two, but like, what do kids think monsters are? And, like, how does that form? And where do it come from? It's probably just a survival instinct.
Starting point is 00:16:38 But anyways, I don't want to be the one that gives it to him. So when, like, Bruce came on, I do fast forward through Bruce. Bruce is a nice guy, but Elliot might not know the difference right now. Bruce. Yeah. So I didn't want him to start drinking about, like, sharks because, like, but he loves the fish. God only knows. His mom's already scared it off.
Starting point is 00:16:59 of sharks as it is. So yeah, and also, Evan wanted to watch Jurassic Park, like the one that came on. They just put them all on Netflix. That's good to know because I've never watched a single Jurassic Park. Really? Okay, so I've seen some of the old ones.
Starting point is 00:17:15 There was one that came out last year. Yeah, and I didn't know. Jurassic World situation. Yeah. So we watched that one, but he wanted to put it on and is like our 15 minutes as a family of like watching something. And I was, like bro no this will
Starting point is 00:17:31 have dream of him nightmares so we skipped that but speaking of nightmares caused by animals here's one that actually happened in pop culture this past week a story went viral about a man being kidnapped by a pot of dolphins being taken 40 feet below the surface and forced to
Starting point is 00:17:55 work on an underground city for four days, I believe. Yeah, he works in aerospace engineering, like something crazy. And so the dolphins knew to pick him. That was a part of the story. They knew his lore, apparently just off vibes. And they had him working on condos and other things. And when officials found him on the beach washed up, presumably, he was drawing a map of what the city was like. And then, I continued to hear that once he was, you know, taking care of medically, he had no, like, brain injuries, nothing weird, like no substances in his system. But they were finding, like, they didn't say kelp, but, like, seaweed particles and, like, other things in his lungs that, like, detected being deep in water for a long period of time. But no damage.
Starting point is 00:18:54 No damage to the lungs. Yeah. So I fully believe this story, by the way. I did too. I thought it was real. I looked at all the details. I was like, oh my gosh. Like, why was he the chosen one?
Starting point is 00:19:05 Then again, I was glad I wasn't. They were coming back for him for phase two or something like that. And by the way, the dolphin's name was Gerald. I didn't know the dolphin had a name. So outly specific to him. Who named? Who chose a... I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I had a turtle named Gerald once. Well, and then people fully went into like conspiracy mode because they're like, this is why it's illegal to communicate with dolphins. I didn't know that was illegal. Yeah. Well, I recently looked it up because I was like, oh my gosh. Like, I truly thought, I'm like, I need to know what he has that we don't. Like, why aren't we picked as marmades? Why were we never chosen?
Starting point is 00:19:42 But, yeah, it turns out the whole thing is fake. Are we sure? Yes. That's not just what the dolphins want us to think. Well, that's what a lot of people were saying. Yeah. And then a lot of comments were like Gerald the Dolphin. Like, who's going to believe you, buddy, or whatever.
Starting point is 00:20:01 But people went down the conspiracy thing saying, like, this is why it's illegal to talk to dolphins. And it is true. It says intentionally attempting to talk to, interact, or harassed wild dolphins is illegal. Wild dolphins, though, because I feel like, you know, when we were younger, we swam with dolphins. They know the secrets of the world. We did swim with dolphins. swam with the dolphins and I would imagine that we tried to speak with them.
Starting point is 00:20:33 No, I think I was scared. Were you? I think so. I don't. I remember being excited for that, but then do you remember we also on like the same trip, same day situation? There was like a lay, this is what I remember, but like I could be off. There was like a lazy river that like you swam with live fish.
Starting point is 00:20:53 I didn't do it. It was either you swam with live fish or like you could see them through the bottom. him. I stayed in like the kitty pool area, but there were some kind of situation where there was like fish involved. No. No recollection of that? I don't remember that, but I remember that there was a pool situation where you could get in and it didn't go deep as basically like you're like up to your hips and it was stingrays. Yes. And you could like put your hands in and feed the stingrays and they would come up and like flap on your legs and stuff. Yep. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Never. I don't think we went in that. No, I went in it. You went in it? I don't think I went in it. I can remember, feel like I see. Maybe I wouldn't. You probably went in it.
Starting point is 00:21:41 We have pictures somewhere, I'm sure of all of this. Somewhere. Dolphin part I for sure remember. I for sure remember the dolphin. I do too. That's crazy. Because we recently saw a picture of someone that we used to know. And they were like posing on.
Starting point is 00:21:58 vacation with their significant other but it looked like how we posed with the dolphins in the pool and uh that's like rejogged our memory i didn't think you were gonna bring that up on here no one knows what we're talking about unless they've seen the picture because you can't miss it um anyways so yeah the dolphin kidnapping wasn't real unfortunately i thought it was a good story i like you put this no i have no idea what this is about Donna Kelsey remodeling her house? Dude. So it must have been a slow
Starting point is 00:22:34 This is, I love when the internet is the internet. So apparently it was, and I might not get all the words correct, slow news day. TMZ apparently reported Donna Kelsey remodeling her modest Florida home. And then people just like took it
Starting point is 00:22:51 and ran with it. Like people are making a meme out of this. Like Disney, I'd not to talk about Disney World, but this is how I found out about it. They had posted like a castle like castle remodeling, but like it's not Donna Kelsey's remodel or something like that. Like everybody is just like taking this and run. I was thought for sure you've seen comments on this.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I saw like one thing. Okay, this is a random topic, but I'm going to go on a tangent really quickly. It pisses me off so much because I don't have threads. So when I'm on Instagram, you can't go. Threads will give me like the smallest snippet of what. And it's always interesting. Yes, and it's always interesting. And I forget that it's threads.
Starting point is 00:23:36 So I'm like, oh, I think it's a post. And I'll go to Click it. And it's like, sign up now. And I get so freaking mad every time. And so this was like a thread little thing. It was like a picture of her. And it said like Donna Kelsey remodeling. And I just, I was like, oh, whatever.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And I kept scrolling. So like I saw it as a thread. But that shit always pisses me off. Sorry, excuse my language. That was crazy. But it makes me so mad because I'll, like, get into it too. And then I have to like take my little self and start Googling stuff. I have like, who's in his?
Starting point is 00:24:05 I can see. I can see what it is. But like the truth. So like people have just like taking this and like literally like companies are like making memes about it. Like Lowe's is like, Donna, you're a DIY queen. Like everyone is just like really just like use it like almost like, I don't know, like when that thing happened with Top Golf and that one guy was like, well,
Starting point is 00:24:24 better not be closed because like I got like Christmas party. Like that's how people are treating this renovation, but really it's just, I'm pretty sure she just hired a company to replace like a couple windows and like some doors at her house. And people are like really shouldn't be news. That's weird. Yeah, like rare aesthetic undergoing a major home renovation and it's all done and renovation. But it's just windows. Speaking of renovation, I forgot to tell you this. they are doing a renovation show on HGTV of former Bachelor-Betcherat contestants.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Yes. Remodeling the... The Bachelor Mansion. They're tearing that place to shit from what I've seen. Really? No, I saw one room being redone. I don't know if it's like... I would imagine they're like not batch releasing episodes and they're just like it's like one a week.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Do you think they did it before Taylor Frankie Paul's season? I think so. Well, then I... I guess we'll see it on there. I would think so. I feel like I remember them talking about filming this like years ago, but by years maybe it was like a couple months ago. Close enough.
Starting point is 00:25:36 And from what I've seen thus far, they've already done one bunk room and they painted it like electric blue. And I'm not to keep bringing this back to Disney, but I'm sorry, the people on the show were like, it looks like Toy Story in here, It looks like Andy's room.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Like they did not do a good job. That's how they renovated it? Yes. And they took out like this really beautiful copper piece of art. Well, you weren't on the bachelor. So what? Bringing in as like a contestant judge or something. A judge probably.
Starting point is 00:26:08 All people are on there. Whatever. Part of the bachelor. Which is like, dang, I didn't realize how many home rental people they have. Are they actually home rental people? Or are they just like doing it? I think a lot of them like do have like either have done like their own home renovations or have made some kind of career of it because like tasha and like tyler cameron
Starting point is 00:26:28 are the like host and judges and then they have a rotation of guest judges like hannah brown i think was in one of the episodes very interested in anything hannah brown and tasha and tyler cameron are up to i like those three interesting well i guess we'll see on the new season also you put Travis Kelsey is coming back to the Chiefs. Yeah, I saw a tidbit about that. Allegedly, he is committed to come back. That's all I know. Not retiring for his wedding or all that.
Starting point is 00:26:59 No, but I guess it's like, I don't know, Brian was telling me it's free agent season or something. So people are getting moves. I know. I know. You guys? I know. I don't even want to begin our football podcast this time.
Starting point is 00:27:13 I know. It's very disheartening of what's going on with the Lions right now. It's hard because, like, we are, you know, a tried and true sports podcast, and that's our bread and butter here. So to see something as sad as the loss of Knuckles from Sonic and Knuckles. It's not just Knuckles, though. No, it keeps on going. Raymond's gone. You know, or he went?
Starting point is 00:27:42 Ancelone. Yeah. I didn't know about that. Anzolone. Where'd he go? Um, I don't know. Evan just told me today. No, Raymond's gone to guess where? You know? Worst case.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yeah, the Bears. Yeah. That is just a slap in the face. It is. But I was, I was a little happy because guess who we got? We got Pacheco. That's over my house. I've always been a fan of Pacheco. You might just get hit with the Pacheco.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Alex Zinzlone is leaving the Lions to sign with. God. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Shut up. No, they're not. Okay. And also, this is really sad news for my mom probably doesn't know that yet. This is probably actually, as she's listening to this podcast, she's finding out, she loves him.
Starting point is 00:28:32 She calls him Cinderella. Oh, because his hair. He's his hair. But you know what? And not to air out her business. Do it. She confused Cinderella with Rapunzel because, you know, Rapunzel is. So she meant to say Rapunzel.
Starting point is 00:28:46 She meant to say Rapunzel, but then it's stuck. Close enough. And so I kind of like it. I do too. Well, now he doesn't get his nickname. No. No, I told Evan, I was really upset about the Montgomery thing. And I feel like it's one of those things where it's like if something is working, why?
Starting point is 00:29:01 Break it. Break it. And like that was working and it's not this past season. Like they did not take advantage of that. No. They created such this like good culture and like thing around Sonic and Knuckles and then. Right. Then it just disappeared.
Starting point is 00:29:16 And then like it all went to crap. I know. Honestly, I feel like it, yeah, completely that whole, the whole culture of Sonic and Nuckles, I feel like they did not lean into that this past season. No. So, I don't know. Maybe we need to talk to some people. I feel like we're speaking another language to some people listening.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Well, yeah, because we're like, we're talking about it. We're talking about it and not like providing the facts. So maybe next week we'll catch up on all the things happening with. Or we will never talk about football again because we're so hardbroken. No. That's not who we are. Bread and butter. Bread and butter.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Remember, that is our core. We will lose our who? Our core. I think that you said something else. Anyways, next up, we have Chaparone is back at it again with the paparazzi. How do you spell paparone? Well, I just looked at how you spelled it. So earlier today, Haley and I were texting about things we wanted to.
Starting point is 00:30:18 talk about on today's podcast and I was trying to you know spell it like you sounded out like how you tell kids paparazzi and I was having a really hard time with the word so I probably spelled it you for sure butchered it you butchered it so badly that autocorrect would not recognize the word I spelt it and I quote P-A-P-E-R-A-T-I-I-Z-I Nice. Paper, rat, is he? Close enough. You knew what I meant.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Yes, I knew what you meant, but it's just funny because I feel like this is one of those things that I have to accept about you. Me? Yeah. Oh, we're still talking about the spelling. I was just laughing because I realized T's not in the word at all. Correct. Yes. Go on about what you think about me.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Nothing. I said it's one of the things that I need to accept about you. Like, you shamelessly will just butcher. words and like also sometimes even like when we're talking you'll use a word like incorrectly very incorrectly but it's something that I it's thoroughly enjoy it's endearing me joy but my charm that's one of those things and it's the same way in which you completely butcher lyrics but you sing them so proudly and off key and it's something that I've grown to love because I've grown up that way
Starting point is 00:31:48 Correct. That's who I've been since. It's your bread and mother, truly who I am at my core. Like, I am nothing if not consistent. So. And this is part of it. But so what did she? I'm lost.
Starting point is 00:32:01 I never saw anything about this. Okay, so it was a clip of her going to dinner out in L.A., I presume it's L.A. That's also me making assumptions. But she was exiting her car and she basically just like stuck her phone up and was saying, like, I have asked these people to get away. 10 times boundaries, like you were not leaving me alone, just like doing her same old stick.
Starting point is 00:32:24 And I feel like she's just, I don't know, I watched a video talking about this situation and they played a clip of Lady Gaga who she said, you know what? I, you know, who needs handbags, who needs cars? Like, I'd rather just pay for good security. And then I don't have to deal with the paparazzi. She goes, I never see them. You know why? So, like, granted, you know, we now live in a world where it's like kind of hard to.
Starting point is 00:32:55 Everyone's a paparazzi because everyone has a phone on them. So, like, time has passed since then. Probably not. I'm sure Chapel has great security and it's still tough and it's still inevitable. But the point that this creator made was, you know, you're really preaching boundaries on people who don't really give a shit about boundaries. So it's almost a lose-lose situation. I mean, because it's kind of like the same thing with hate comments and people are like,
Starting point is 00:33:25 if you start addressing or like responding to hate comments and that's all people are going to do because that's what gets the most attention from you. And it's the same thing with paparazzi. It's like you keep giving them something to film. Yep. They're going to keep filming it. Yes. And I mean, also granted, like obviously we've been in a situation so we know it's not necessarily
Starting point is 00:33:44 true. They will just do it no matter what. But, like, in that situation, they're waiting for her to yell at them so that they have something to post. Right. And it's going to do better. Honestly, yeah. This more viral. That clip is going way more viral than if she would have just walked straight from the car to a restroom, which honestly, much easier said than done.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Yeah. I'm sure they're pissing her off. However, it's just. It's one of those things. It's like lose lose lose. Yeah. It's a lose-lose situation for her. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I didn't see that. But what I did see. just like really the only thing I saw for the last week was Timothy Shalamaze comments about the ballet and the opera that he said they were a dying art and basically nobody watches them anymore and everyone was very upset. I also saw that more people were even, they were hanging on more to the fact that he said like, oh, I probably lost 14 cents of viewership for saying that. Yeah. And people were really more offended by that because they're like, that's what he thinks of his fans. Like, they're just 14 cents worth of, like,
Starting point is 00:34:51 and like basically putting like a worth of money onto his fans' viewership. Yeah, it was a bad compilation of sentiments. Altogether. And I fear I saw a TikTok, because that's where I do, you know. Research. Most of my research. And I don't think this is the first time that he's made a comment like this. I believe that this is something that he's done
Starting point is 00:35:16 repeatedly, but this is the first time it's caught fire and it's really unfortunate timing because all this press, I think, around like, Marty Supreme specifically, has been to get an Oscar. I think that's like his end goal. Like, we're all really aware of it. Oscars are this upcoming weekend and the day this came out and the negative press started happening was the last day of Oscar voting. So could directly correlate to him not getting one.
Starting point is 00:35:46 Yeah. Yeah. That is unfortunate. I saw, so I saw a bunch of clips of this, but then I also saw somebody say that this was like an hour-long interview. Yeah. It got clipped out of context. Yep. And that the whole sentiment that he was saying was all of the arts are like dying.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Yes. And that's what he was like the point he was trying to get across. And I think that was his intention. And he was saying like even his, like even movies. Like he doesn't want movies to be a dying art He doesn't want to be a part of like I think what he was trying to get at was like You really care so much about acting and being in these cool movies
Starting point is 00:36:26 Because like he doesn't want movies to die In the same way as like some It's really a hard way I don't think I can spin it correctly But I think I know maybe where he was trying to get at it That's what somebody was I didn't you know what I didn't watch the whole thing I saw the clip and I'm like oh god this is bad But then like again we also have been insiduited. Like, we know the things get clipped out of context for viral content
Starting point is 00:36:51 or headlines. So I was like, maybe there is something to being like, clipped out of context. Apparently, he was making the comparison of how, like, getting people to the movie theaters and, like, actually doing well in theater isn't happening anymore. And it's not happening in other art forms or something. I don't know. Something along those lines. Which, in a sense, like, yeah, people really don't go to the movies that much anymore. It's, like, hard to, I think a lot of movies just come straight on to streaming services. Or if they come to streaming so quickly after they're at the movies that... And people are like, I'll just wait till it's at home.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Yes. So it is a different world we live in. And I think maybe that was like what the point of the conversation was. I think so too. I've seen a lot of, I've seen both sides because I've seen a lot of angry people in the opera, in ballet that are like, what the heck? Like, we should be supporting all of the arts, not tearing them down. And I think that's the sudden.
Starting point is 00:37:45 meant to around like the Oscar thing is like yeah why would other arts like respect you after saying something negative about vote for you yeah so I think it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to see how that plays out yeah it's gonna be shady and speaking of I only put one shady story okay today wonderful it was on theme it was mom themed and I was like let's just stick with that but there wasn't enough mom themed one so that's okay that's okay I will get into reading this shady story. If you have any other parent-related, mom-related shady stories, please submit them so we can continue to read some shady stories like that on the podcast. If you want to join us in the Patreon bonus content, make sure you do that.
Starting point is 00:38:32 But let me get into this shady story before we get shady on the Patreon. Shady story, number one and only one. This is just a fun little mom story, but I have a four-year-old and a two-year-old. year old who are in that really fun age where they have thoughts and opinions and hearing haley talk about how she was worried that elliot wouldn't know who his mom was this season makes this funny so we realized recently because my husband and i have friends and family on the spectrum of gender identity my four-year-old son thinks that being a man means facial hair so now every day he runs to the bathroom and checks his face to see if he's a man yet because he'll know he is if he has a beard my husband was like
Starting point is 00:39:15 okay, well, he needs to know that that's not how it works, so he shaved off his facial hair, which is how we found out that our daughter doesn't know who her dad is. He took her to the park a couple days later, and she found a random man with dark hair and a guy with facial hair like my husband had before he shaved, think Orlando Bloom and Pirates, and followed him around the park pointing and saying, Rosie's dada. He is not, in fact, her father, but apparently the only criteria to be is the right facial hair that is so funny that is so cute and it's so cute it makes me feel better in general though because i'm like i swear even when you come around or like people with blonde hair i feel like elliott has in like one category of like these people are all the same and then like
Starting point is 00:40:04 people with dark hair i feel like he has in another category of like because like he has so many like aunties. And we always joke about that. But like genuinely, I feel like that's how he categorizes them because like Evans family, Elena, like have dark hair. So when he sees them all, he's like, oh, Auntie. And then when he sees like blonde, he's like, oh, Auntie. Yeah. So like I feel like that's how he categorizes people. But it's also funny because this just happened too. We were hanging out with my family. And obviously like my dad and Nate look really similar. Yeah. So he did that where like he's so used to like being like around my dad. So he like randomly, I was like jealous.
Starting point is 00:40:47 He like randomly like went to Nate and like grabbed him and just started like cuddling him. And I was like what's going on? What's going on? And like he's obviously been around Nate to like where he could just do that. But in the moment I'm like, oh my gosh, he thinks this is like grandpa. He thinks this is his grandpa. That is so sweet. I'm like, what the heck?
Starting point is 00:41:07 Come back to me and do that. But yeah, it was really funny. So I feel like kids do, especially when they're like that little. Yeah. It's like, okay, you have these couple qualities, so you must be this person. Yeah. So that's so funny. I love that.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Very cute story. But that concludes this week's episode. We'll see you guys in the next one. Bye everyone. Bye.
