Hello and welcome back to the podcast and welcome back to our, as we're calling it, our weekly league. I feel like it's much deserved this week. It's like our golf league and Evan did leave me for a golf trip this weekend. So I've really been needing this. Yeah, he left. It was just me and Elliot this weekend. I don't, you never watched New Girl, did you? No, I've seen clips on TikTok. Okay. So like, I don't know what it is, but whenever it just, me and Elliot alone for like the weekend. In my head, I'm always like, it's an Elliot mom mess around. Because on New Girl, Cece and Winston, like, it was their inside joke where basically like they became BFFs and had like a bunch of inside jokes and caused chaos together.

I love that. And I feel like that's me and Elliot when we're home alone. Is that a weekend? Were you causing chaos? He definitely was. Was he now? Yeah, I swear. I don't know what happened, you guys.

But like a flip. switched this past week and he just became such a toddler like just absolutely climbing on everything getting into everything on purpose like he was always doing this when he was like you know toddling around but now it's with intent and he can like say single words now and mimic so like if he gets into one thing. It's just that's what we're doing for the entire day. It became actually turning this sign on and off. Our little like neon sign for the podcast. That became our thing for like, I don't know, all weekend. He came in here, wanted to turn it on, off, on off. So yeah, he's just been dictating everything recently. I swear it's like this last week. I don't know what happened. He just

started saying a lot more, started doing a lot more. climbing on all the furniture, trying to climb up the stairs by himself. I'm like, dude, we need to reel it in. Out here adventuring. I know. It's fun, though. Like, this is, I don't know. I told Evan literally today, I'm like, just picture, like, where we were a year ago.

So different. It's just so much happens in a year. So, yeah, anyways, that's what I did this weekend. And also, we both had our fantasy football draft for our girls league. Dude, this year, we were fully prepared to spend like an hour doing our draft. Oh my gosh. The girls in our league actually take it so seriously that it took us a full two hours to get our draft done. Mind you, there's only 10 of us.

It took two hours. So long because I looked back on our text from last year of like when the first text started to come through when the draft began. And then afterwards when we got our grades, when we got our overall range. And it was literally like an hour on the dot. People were draining the clock during their picks. It was nuts. On the first round, I was like, you couldn't have expected the first three people to go for whoever was picking forth.

No, I was. I mean, I was getting mad, but arguably I think I had the most fun with the draft. You and I were the only ones like actually. No, and what's funny is I texted our one friend who's like the league manager on the side. I'm like, hey, like, just checking in. Are you having fun or are you just like really stressed? I texted her if she was nervous and she never answered me. Yeah, she was, I think, nervous.

But what's funny and this kind of reminds me how we're really jokingly calling this like our golf league. Yeah. And now we actually have like a football league. Yeah. The thing is, you know how like the joke is that guys just take longer to do everything than they say? Like every time they're at like golf, it's they'll say like two. hours and it turns into four and then it turns into eight and then somehow they're then it's an overnight trip yeah all of a sudden they're gone for three days yeah where were they i don't know i fear that

like that's why we don't have leagues because truthfully we take things so seriously so seriously that i think we would might actually take way too long to accomplish whatever the thing is maybe because it did take us quite some time to draft i was actually shocked. Like, I was watching the clock, and there were times where... It was stressing me out. Same. I would, like, be scrolling on my phone and then, like, come back to it and be, like, no one vicked yet. I kid you not. By the end of it, I started doing, like, the dishes and, like, cleaning up because I, like, I made it a whole thing. Like, I ordered D-dubs. I had, like, a Coke Zero in a glass, like, a glass pan, a glass bottle. I freaking rushed. I put Elliot down to bed.

And I was all stressed out. I'm like, I need to get down and like prepare for this. And I was fully just like staring at the clock waiting for it to start. And when it started, it was going so slow. Like on the first round and I was like, oh no. Oh, no, I'm in for a treat. And Evan like was sitting with me for a while, like seeing like what we were all doing, who we were picking and stuff.

And then like he got to the point where he's like, who's taking this song? Like I'm out of here. And he like left. A thousand percent. Brian was doing the same. He was like supporting, like sitting at the counter with me. And then I swear like halfway through like he got up and like went and sat on the couch because he was like this is taking for. And you know who's one of the culprits?

It was our good friend. She was the pen for me. And I go, I swear she's running down the clock on purpose. This wasn't new for her. I think it was just new for everyone else. Because one, if there's one thing we know about her and honestly we're just as guilty. No, we are. We can't make a decision to save our life.

Like we have analysis paralysis. We can't make decisions. We want it to be the right decision. So we take so long. I've been doing that with so many things lately. And me and her recently had this conversation because we were picking somewhere to eat. And genuinely, it was, it was like hours long in the conversation. And I'm like, we have a problem.

Yeah. Actually. And she did that last year where she would run down the clock every single time. Because I remember thinking like, I'm not shocked. But we aren't. We aren't not guilty. We aren't not guilty. We do the same thing.

I wasn't as bad with this, though. No, but you know what else we do it with is with Instagram posts? I've been very guilty of it lately. Like, thinking of you might not do this, but me and Tracy, that's why we haven't posted from your Bachelorette party. Dude, we're like three years later. That is our running joke is like we still haven't caught up on post from the Batch Party. Yeah.

I feel like I do that sometimes, but I kind of just, once it passes to me in my head, it's over with. And I feel like here's the thing. And maybe this is a good topic is now Instagram has become a place where you cannot just post one photo of something. It has to be a carousel that's like so curated and so well thought. And that just takes it to a next level of stress for me. I will have one good photo of something like, oh, I did something this past weekend. Like, I have a really cute photo.

But I don't have seven. So I'm like, oh, can't post it. Because it's not going to be a carousel. Maybe it'll revert back to one. But the dumps have become so popular. That's my problem. Posting for my wedding. My wedding was in May.

I got my photos back in July. With that, like, at least you do know you have a lot of options. But I'm just talking like, okay, for example, Megan Moroni concert. Like, I took one cute photo. But you'll never see it because I didn't have eight. Right. And that's a neat problem, maybe.

However, you know what I did? I decided, you know what? Perfect opportunity with what we talked about on the podcast last week, the pop-up and Megan Maroney, I combined them because there's no way Megan Maroney stuff was getting posted without something to tag it a long way. No, I fear. It's a problem. It's just that's what Instagram has become.

I have seen people say, like, can we just go back to just posting one photo and moving No, that would be nice. But ultimately, all this to say, how do you feel about your team? My fantasy team? Yeah. I'm feeling all right. I don't like, and I don't know if anyone listening does fantasy football, but they grade you or rank you like starting out the gate right away based on your team.

And I got a grade C. And if you know anything about me and you've listened to this, I don't do well with not getting straight A's. But I was ranked not that good last year. and I ended up winning the whole thing. So that does give me some hope. I feel like you never want to be ranked number one going into the season.

And sorry to our friend who is. And sorry to our friend who is. I think it's... Carly. I think it's Carly. She's the only one that got an A. I got a B, but I'm like fifth, which I like being in the middle.

Because it's like, okay. I was definitely down in the middle. But I think that gives you room for improvement. It gives you room for improvement. It's only one way. down you cannot hold first place for the entire season sorry to i feel good about my team as well i know um i got i got the players i wanted good i'm happy for well mostly i kept getting them taken from me like the pick before that's how those things just go tracy kept taking the people i wanted are you serious

Okay, but let's get into some of the drama from this week.

Our fantasy football went smoothly. Things were not going smooth in pop culture. Starting with Love Sack, the couch company, had a very bad PR response failed to a comedian influencer from I understand it. Derek Cahill made a video posting about Love Sacks Couch. It arrived in like 40 different boxes. It took him like seven plus hours to assemble. And it's not a cheap couch.

So his video was just kind of like a joke talking about putting it together. He had to put gloves on because putting it together for that long and opening all the boxes and everything. His hands were really bleeding from like assembling it. That's insane. So he was making a joke about it And then LoveSack came back And on their social media

posted a video of a girl Putting it together And basically the messaging was like Really it's so easy a girl can do it No it's said This and not getting an ick from a grown man Needing tiny gloves to assemble a couch Yeah so crazy

The messaging was crazy And then honestly it just got worse from there Then the CEO himself I came on and made a video talking to the camera saying some wildly inappropriate things about it. Look it up. I'm not going to say what he was saying. Yeah. Like basically that it should make your

wife like want to be with you for her doing. I don't know. Just a very weird response to the whole thing. And goes on. I don't know. And who's in the room helping to make these choices? Because I guarantee you that CEO did not write that whole thing alone. I truly don't know.

And then I guess they asked Derek Cahill to me and, like, wanted to do some kind of collaboration together. And I think his take was like, I don't think I'm going to do that because you basically responded really badly. And like, you should have reached out to me first thing instead of just going and posting all these insulting videos. And it did seem like they took it very offensively slash personally what he was joking. about um but yeah i've never like been a part of the love sack i haven't either like i don't really know anything about it i've seen a couple videos of people complaining about how it comes i guess that is just standard like it comes in like 40 boxes which again if you're paying that much for a couch like it should not it should not come like or they should have somebody right or they should have somebody

that does it for you but if it's taking seven hours i could why they don't? Yeah, because it was what, a seven grand cal? Something crazy, like, yeah. That's insane. Something insane. So, yeah. And as you said, a lot of people were saying, like, turns out the hardest thing to assemble wasn't the couch. It was a PR response. Which is, yeah, just a nightmare. And speaking of nightmares, you thought it couldn't get any worse. Well, apparently, a company that spends over $100 million on marketing a year couldn't get theirs. right um calloway golf also put out an ad where it was a collaboration with another company that's in golf called good good and they it was a social media run ad campaign so it wasn't like commercials or

something but basically it was a woman was about to grab the golf club and the man came running over and like pummeled her to the ground and was like don't ever touch my clubs just very weird nasty I don't really even know what the point of that was like it was one of the most bizarre clip i had ever seen it's so disappointing but the main thing that i kept seeing a lot of people say was like do you know how many people had to see this and like approve it like it's so messed up and i'm just thinking like what do you mean how many people need one person should have seen it just one to say what are we thinking what this is not funny what is this supposed to be how it was even filmed on set.

Like they weren't thinking and not one person on that set. The people participating in the filming themselves. How did they not go, hmm, this is weird. This is just, what are we doing here? What are we trying to, what's the point we're getting across? They came out with an apology, obviously. Not a good one. I don't know.

Too little too late in my opinion. No, it's their apologies sucked to pit it frank. And I'm very disappointed. Yeah. Very disdisfointed. disappointing and again if you're a company that's spending this much money in ad marketing like maybe you should hire a better team that works on the ads then correct i don't know it's a little alarming to see that i did see a lot of people being like you just got rid of 50% at least of the

population from if not more buying and hopefully it's more and hopefully men looked at this and we're like that's alarming why is that an ad i'll tell you one thing brian won't you anything Callaway if it's up to me and I don't think he'll be wanting to use it he was like yeah that why would they do that right it's just a very I don't think like I don't know I saw comments I've been reading a lot of them and it was women were saying like well guess who buys most of my husband's ball stuff me and guess who's going to go to title left me I'm not going to go buy things from Calloway right like you that's something like such a big portion of from my perspective of like an actual company that if you supposedly care about just money, which unfortunately, that's

mostly what companies do care about. Just from that perspective, clearly you don't care about money either. But also, like, you should just care about women and you should stand up for women and you didn't. Very big fail. Mm-hmm. But speaking of partnerships gone wrong and another business partnership that's maybe going wrong right now is allegedly drama between Emma greedy and Chloe Kardashian, who were the founders of

Good American. And they started this in 2016. I feel like I remember vividly when this came out. It was like, I do. Huge deal. A hundred million dollars in sales on its first day when Good American started. And it was a big deal. The main messaging behind the branding was that, like, Chloe wanted to find an inclusive

gene company that had all sizes and everyone could shop there. And that was really the main story behind it from the beginning. And now people are speculating that because Emma Grady put out a book, she talked a little bit about behind the scenes of starting the company. And her perspective of how good American came to be was a lot different than the story that Chloe Kardashian has been putting out since the beginning. And so people are speculating that that's why Chloe unfollowed her on Instagram because she kind of in a way like went behind her back and said, Emigready said in her book that she had the idea of a gene company.

She asked her husband for, you know, like some advice and stuff. She went to Chris Kardashian and wanted to basically put a celebrity on this company to like help make it successful. she said Chloe and then apparently Emma was the one who was really pushing the inclusivity of like the sizing and it wasn't really Chloe

it was kind of more of just like she was the face for this already thought out idea a part of the building of it it wasn't that like she came to Emma with this idea or like it was kind of like the idea was already formed and she kind of put her face

on it at least that was the perspective that was supposedly written about in the book. And so people are thinking that maybe that is why Chloe unfollowed her because she didn't like the way that she had talked about it. But Emma is still a part of like, she had something to do with skims from what I understand and still like friends with a lot of them. So not fully sure what's going on with that situation. But I did think it was interesting. I feel like 2016 was a very popular year for like brand. to form with celebrity.

It was like the makeup year. Yes. A lot of launches happened around that time. Companies were just happening. Tied to celebrities. Throwing celebrity faces on it. And everyone was like, is this celebrity really involved? I feel like it was a very instrumental year in that.

Because I mean, we still see it today all the time. But I feel like it's a little more like it happens all the time. Now, I feel like it was a newer concept. Or like, I mean, of course, I'm sure it's still. happened before 2016, it just gained a lot of popularity. Well, I will say, and I feel like at the time I do kind of remember this happening and some celebrities coming out with stuff where I'm like, there is no chance that like they were involved in that.

Have anything to do with that. I will say Good American was one that I felt like this makes sense for her. It felt authentic. It felt true. Yeah. Yeah. And maybe it still is. I mean, I'm sure she supported the messaging of the brand and like did agree with.

the idea, but maybe just didn't conceptualize it and was like, oh, this was a good idea. No, truly, I looked up because I was like, I feel like Bayes was founded around the same time, 2018, so not far off. But it was an era of celebrity brands. I wonder if now at this point, Good American will sell. Because that's what a lot of these companies did, I think, too, in the beginning is like, they started, got really popular, put a celebrity on it, blew up, and then they saw. sold it off.

Bays just sold. Yeah, and Bays just sold. That's what reminded me of that. So I feel like maybe that's a trajectory that good Americans going on. I'm surprised they haven't already. Or like Kylie Cosmetics sold. I think what else? Road recently sold.

Yeah, Road sold. So we'll see what happens. Interesting. Well, from Kardashian business drama to some music industry drama, a new artist is getting a lot of attention. Stella Lefty supposedly stole Noah Khan's stick season to make her very popular viral song Boston.

So... Unfortunately, I don't know. On a train at the Boston... When you say Boston, I think I'm going to Boston, which actually I listen. listen to this morning. No, truly what I will say is I have been listening to a lot of Stella Lefty. Have you? Is she good? Well, this, I liked, like, her stuff. I had no idea. I didn't know the lore. Like, I just, she popped up on my Spotify and then that song went viral. So I'm like,

oh, I already know that song. Like I thought it was like, you thought of the game. And then turns out she's like really blowing up right now. And I didn't realize. that this was like a whole thing. And now people are mad because I guess she used to do a bunch of covers online of stick season. Okay. And now she did an interview saying that she was not thinking of Noah Khan when she made it. She was not thinking of that song and whatever when she made the song Boston. Yeah.

So people are putting complications together of all of her covers of stick season and being like, you really weren't thinking of this when you made you this. song like no chance. That often. Yeah. So people are mad. And I guess when the song came out, Noah Khan's team contacted her team and actually was like, hey, this sounds a lot like stick season.

So they did give writing credit to Noa Khan on that song. But I feel like with everything coming out now, like that may not be enough. that like she may get into some trouble there with the similarities but I'm going to be honest when I first heard that song in my mind I was like this reminds me of something like I've heard this before and now you know what it reminds you of and now I'm like oh my gosh was that what I was hearing I love it's it is I mean it's catchy it's catchy to say the least um so yeah interesting to see how that turn out. I feel like here's the issue with it. I don't think anyone would have been upset about this if she was just like, oh yeah, I'm a huge fan. Absolutely loved him. That inspired me. Yeah. When I was

writing this song, I didn't even realize it at the time. Like Olivia Rodriguez with Taylor. Yes. And then people would have been like, oh, sick. Yeah. Yeah. We love him too. But now people are going to just be defensive of him. Like, yeah. What do you mean you weren't thinking of him? We're all thinking of him. When the internet feels like they- You can't not. caught you in a lie it doesn't doesn't typically end well yeah and as upset as we are with no con for not coming to Detroit like we're still also going to be on his side I my heart can't take it I know I know well speaking of Olivia Rodriguez and getting her and stuff from Taylor she's also dealing with some issues in the music industry

She sure is. Scalpers, which I didn't realize she did this with her last tour. Yeah. But she worked with Ticketmaster to get rid of Skelper Sales. And you've gone to her. I've gone to every time she's come to Detroit. And did you have a good experience? I had amazing experiences.

The first time we saw her, we went to the Sauer Tour. It was incredible. And then she was at LCA, Little Feasers Arena, this past tour, her gut. And that time I won tickets. So, oh, yeah, I remember that. She puts on a great show. And I love that she does this with Ticketmaster because ticket sales are just, like, out of control. I feel like we've been talking about this.

It's just, like, astronomical to go to concerts these days. Well, they recently announced Ticketmaster that they recovered tickets that were originally purchased in violation of the sales. But I think the most interesting thing about this and seeing somebody do this is just that like knowing it's possible. Yep. And it's like, oh, okay.

We just aren't all doing this. And I think it does make it a little bit more frustrating sometimes for fans because it's like you can't necessarily, you're not guaranteed to get a ticket if you were willing to pay for it. Yeah. Because from what I understand,

It's kind of like a guessing game. When you buy a ticket, like you might not get a ticket where you want to get a ticket or it's kind of more random. It's like a mad dash to get a ticket. Yes. And I think some people,

that's very stressful. It is. So it's like you're just clicking as fast as you can. Because that's honestly, that's why I submitted to win tickets to the guts tour was because I couldn't get them when I was trying the first round. I don't even think I got a pre-sale code.

Because it's like you have to first attempt to get a pre-sale code. If you can't get a presale code, you could submit, like, your work email, your regular email, which is probably not do the right thing. But literally me and one of our friends submitted on, like, our emails,

we had, like, our parents do it. We had, like, Brian did it. Not a single one of us got a presale code. Really? It's some kind of, like, it's called, like, the Silver Star program, and they, you can buy $25 tickets, but, like, you don't,

exactly know where the seat is going to be. Oh. Until later. I understand. I was just talking about the ticket process in general. No, I mean, no. It's probably I would do that with $25. Well, that's what they were saying is like, you could get in the pit.

You could be front row. I'm going to be in the pit. Exactly. Or I don't know exactly how it works, but you could be like really far away. Up in the 300. So it's an interesting take on the situation, but it's just kind of. I would pay honestly $25 and be happy to sit like behind the stage. Yeah.

I mean, I think it's just going to get more people interested in going. Yeah. Just do that with all the tickets. Just sell them all at $25 and just have it be alive on where we all sit. Could you imagine? No. Okay. Let's talk about something else with music because Zara Larson has been all over.

my for you page recently. Dude, I saw one singular video about this. Kind of like breezed by it. Because I was like, I didn't think anything of it. I was like, cute, fun. And then you brought this up as a topic. And I was like, oh, this has happened at other concerts of hers as well. So I didn't know this was a thing.

I mean, she's been at a bunch of festivals recently. And now at one of the recent shows, the entire crowd started going up into like the dolphin pose that she does during the show. And at first it was like a joke, like a couple people were doing it. And then she was like laughing so hard while also still killing it. Yeah. And she was like, she was like, I want to see like you guys do it. And the entire crowd started going in dolphin poses.

You would have think it was a crowdful cheerleaders or something. I don't even know how they knew how to do it. How were they doing this? Stunting, like all flexible back bend dolphin pose? I'm like, couldn't be mean. No. I wouldn't be able to get somebody up there, nor would I be able to be up there. No.

But it was so cool to, like, actually see the whole crowd, like, start participating in something that's very challenging. No, it's not an easy thing to do. This isn't, like, H-T-O-T-O-G-O, like, hot to go. I completely butchered the spelling of that. Oops. No, I think you're right. No, I got it eventually. We got there.

Right. It's a lot easier to do like a little arm movement and get everyone involved than to get people doing literal stunts in the crowd. But you know what? She did it. Everybody has some kind of calls to action. She deserves it. Some people do, you know, the weight challenge, the pause, the music challenge. We talked about this a bit.

Oh my gosh. We did. And other people, Zara has the dolphin. Literally. On the bonus. We talked about it last week. Yes. Speaking of, we're talking more about this and other TikTok stuff on the bonus content this week.

It is everything happy and joyful in the world. And there's something new coming to HGTV related to this. and I'm very excited to see. As everyone knows, if you've listened before,

I am an HGTV watcher. Abid. And they're coming out with a new renovation show, which I didn't even see until I was on the TikTok. But they are going to have people renovate a house that is supposedly haunted, and they're going to be staying there while they do it. So it takes place at Bill Manor, I think I'm saying that right, in Fremont, Ohio, which is marketed as one of America's most haunted houses.

And there's going to be six designers and renovators that live in the house for 31 days while renovating it. And so they're competing in challenges, like they're doing all the HGTV, you know, stuff. But they're living there in a haunted house while doing it. So it has its own, like, reported paranormal history, ghost stories, and those are becoming part of the renovation challenges. And there's going to be some guest judges coming on to judge it. There's six episodes. So it's like basically just like a Halloween season event than like a giant franchise.

You know, franchise coming out. But I'm so excited. I mean, obviously I'll be watching this, but like, I'll be watching this. did not realize that they were also living in the house i thought it was just the renovation of said house the living in it honestly i'm kind of surprised that this isn't something that they did previously it's such a good idea i was so excited when i saw this because like a lot of the shows on hg tv they're all like a little bit different but in general they have like the same vibe or same formula i would say like you kind of know what to expect and this was unexpected

Like, No, very expected. I'm honestly surprised. It makes me think and maybe, and I feel like I also watch a lot of HGTV, I feel like they don't have enough holiday-based shows. Like the cooking shows, I feel like they have like their, like Christmas,

their holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving takes on cooking shows. But like, when do we see a Christmas special? Everything's like long-term year-round. Yeah. Like classic stuff. Just a little rental. But speaking of the seasons, so pumpkin spice latte is officially out this week. Period. And people, I feel that I've seen a little bit of debate, like, it's August. Why are the Halloween things happening? Well, they're celebrating Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party at Disney World, too. So when Disney says it's fall, when Starbucks puts out the pumpkin spice latte, Dunkin' Donuts has put out the pumpkin spice latte, Panera has put out their pumpkin menu. I feel like I have been seeing something slowly trickle in for fall.

But I don't feel like it's too early because I don't think so either. It's time. There's a brisk breeze. A breeze in the air. September. It's tomorrow, basically. Yeah. September is fall.

I have pumpkins out and about throughout my home. Some Halloween stuff was out. I put it away. Not too far. But I've been, you know, frequenting, you know, the home goods, the marshals. It's just the best. I've been collecting my items. I meant to tell you this.

I'm scared. So one of our ventures was I took Elliott to home. Depot. I had to get sand for the sandbox. And they had their Halloween, like, animatronics out. Oh, my gosh. Like, all everywhere. What did Elliot think? So he was fine at first. I have a video. I have a video. I'll have to show you. Well, I was trying to record, but he got scared, so, like, I couldn't record. So last Halloween, he was not, like, fully aware of, like, what was scary or not. Honestly, so little. I know. I know. Like just thinking back to like when we did like Halloween activities with him last year. Versus now.

No. No, he was so fully aware of like all of the stuff. And so he was just at first he was okay. And I'm shocked because one of the things we walked by just went off. Like I didn't press the button or anything. So I wasn't like, oh, you ready? Like it just like went off. And he was fine with it. It was like a creepy parrot or something.

Yeah, like he almost like didn't know to be scared. It was like, oh, okay, this is whatever. It's weird, like, bird is talking to me. But then they had this, like, super tall guy with, like, a pumpkin face. And he was doing fine with everything. So I'm like, oh, my, not scared. Like, doesn't know, like, this is scary. The jackalanta, like, Target has.

The one that says I'm not a jackalanta. My name is Keith. It doesn't say that. I don't even know what it did. But as soon as I pressed the button and it, like, move, he, like, looked and then looked at me and, like, he was. terrified. So, like, I was just like, okay, let's go. So I walk. And he literally got the chills down his spine. And I'm like, wow. He has an innate, um, I don't even know, like an innate reaction

to be like scared of this. And like he has really no reason to. Um, I guess it's like survival instincts or something. But he literally got the chills. He was like disgusted at the thing. And I was like, I'm so sorry. He was fine with everything. So, um, yeah, that was fun. But anyway, Speaking of Halloween, I didn't realize, Halloween this year is on a Saturday. And it's daylight savings at night. Dude, so many reasons. If we were in college,

oh my gosh, it would be peak. But yeah, it really won't affect us at all. I think, this year. Maybe we'll do something, but like even if we do, we're not staying up that late. No, actually, that's actually a crazy thought. Dude. We are not seeing up that late.

And honestly, for me, it just means, like, I'm waking up earlier because, like, Elliot's not going to care that the time. No, he's not going to, he's not going to know he gets an extra hour. It's no extra hour for me. That is, that's tough. Tough as a parent. But, yeah, so it's like, I think two, five Saturdays in October this year or something night. That makes my heart so. Very, very.

Happy. Great year for Halloween. Great year for the spooky season. in. So excited. Coming up quick. Um, but yeah, so with that, let's get into this week's Shady stories. Starting with Shady Story number one. Just want to start out by saying, I love this podcast and both of you. Okay. So this is like continuous craziness. I wrote a story that you guys had on the podcast around Valentine's Day about how I was dating a guy and he stopped talking to me because my mom was trying to talk to him and he thought it was weird that my mom was reaching out to him.

trying to date him. Fast forward to now years later. Anyways, crazy shadiness continues. My mom starts dating this guy that she meets to one of her friends and starts traveling every weekend two hours south of us to go visit him. My mom is definitely the gold digger type and apparently this guy has money and is going to give her everything, pay off her debt, buy her a house, take her to Hawaii, etc. So she sees this guy for like seven months and we never meet him. She only tells us bits and pieces. Then she's like, like, I'm marrying him, and my siblings and I are like, this is insane. You don't really know this guy. She would be his fifth wife, and he would be her fourth husband. She never listens to us anyway,

so we're like, whatever. So here's what's shady about all of it. She marries this guy, continues to go down two hours south of us and visit him, and none of us have met him still to this day, and they've been married for three months. We'll come to find out he's in prison. He's been in prison for 11 years and won't be out for two more years. That's why we have not met him. How? How? How do you marry somebody that's in prison?

Or like, how do you, like, start to, like, have a relationship with somebody actively in prison? It is a thing. There are, like, websites and stuff and, like, people who, like, find people in prison and date them. I don't, I don't fully know the details, but I've heard of this. this is the craziest twist. I would have not guessed that. Same. I was not expecting that this guy was actually in prison.

Like, I thought it was going to be something shady, like why they haven't actually met him. Yeah, yeah, yes. There was, of course, going to be something, but I would have not jumped to, and guess what? They're in prison. And truthfully, I was jaw on the floor when I saw fifth wife, fourth husband.

No, in my mind, I said, this is some gossip girl type shit. Yeah, but now I'm like, actually, the prison thing's worse. And it's very concerning that it's 13 years in prison. So if I were you, I would stay far away from that situation. Probably good we haven't met, met this man. My goodness, shady story number two. It was my physical education teacher's birthday,

so he ordered himself a cake for classmates of mine's mother, and he said that his wife will come and pick it up. Turns out my classmates' mother knew his wife and she wasn't the one who picked up the page. It turns out that he was having an affair with a blonde Brazilian woman and divorced his wife a week later. Let's just say he had to pay a lot of child support. That's wild. People are so palsy with the cheating stuff. Like that is crazy.

I just like, I don't understand one person. foremost why they do it not necessary don't need to do that correct but two i think that they just get like so comfortable with it to where they're like i've gotten away with it for so long and they just keep pushing it forward up until like you are having your wife who's not your wife pick up the cake like that's nuts very interesting situation here but um-mm-s sounds like he's going to to pay. Shady story number three. When I was in the sixth grade, my dad started cheating on my mom. He left the house and lived with his mistress for a while and eventually stopped the affair and came back home to live with us. Off and on, my mom would find out he was still talking to the mistress,

but he swore nothing was going on. Come to find out, 10 years later in 2023, he had a child with his mistress back in 2013. So I have an unknown sibling, which is a little weird because my whole life I've been an only child never met them though they're still a kid now and I have no interest in meeting them oh my gosh lots of cheating scandals going on um this is I mean obviously messed up I feel like it's one thing to cheat and have like a secret like that but like you have a whole secret life and a whole secret human I don't understand how people do it I really just don't it's insane um But also, like, you've lived your whole life as an only child. Now you just find out you actually have a sibling.

Yeah, that's crazy information to be... Learn after such a long time of thinking one thing. And honestly, I hate to compare this because this is obviously real life. But I've been watching Sterling Point. And it reminded me of this because it's like a lot of... Yeah, what's Sterling Point? It's, um, on Amazon Prime. Uh-huh.

I already finished it. Really good. like college kids find out that they have like a grandpa and he passed away and he's leaving them stuff but they never knew him they go to like explore the situation anyways it's very very good but it reminds me of this and it's like basically like a whole secret life that they didn't know about with this grandpa and everything so there's a lot of secret life in in the show i'm like game of their own oh i'm i'm learning a lot yeah well Maybe in these situations, life imitates art because this is messed up. This could be its own show.
