Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome back to the podcast. We are starting with a classic weekend recap. We talked about this last week but it was definitely Halloween weekend two and a lot of costumes came out after last episode so we are going to be reviewing those celebrity and influencer Halloween costumes in bonus content, but it was also a weird weekend because we didn't celebrate, we didn't really celebrate the weekend before, but so many Snapchat memories from the past, Halloweens were coming up and I was having so much FOMO.
Starting point is 00:00:39 I was as well, I was having like flashback FOMO of the fun we used to have. Not to say we can't have that fun again, but we didn't have it this year and your Halloween parties have been a staple in our lives for like eight years? Seven years? For an extreme period of time. So just going back and seeing all of our costumes how the party evolved over years the traditions we created with it It was it was kind of hard to see it was I was like also Laughing because it's so funny to see Not that we weren't that crazy, but like us being
Starting point is 00:01:20 Drunk having these parties. Oh, no, I was embarrassed by some of the snaps I witnessed of myself. And I'm just thinking like at the point we are now in our lives where I'm literally pregnant and having a baby and not having a Halloween party I'm like wow has that much change though? I don't know but I know next year we will be participating in Halloween some way somehow. Oh, absolutely. So but I was also thinking about how there's going to be a point in life where I'm opening Snapchat memories from previous years with children around. That's actually a dangerous game to play. I have not thought about it that way.
Starting point is 00:02:00 You're going to have to be precautious when opening. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's not like there's anything that wild on there, but still like your kids like, Oh, what were you doing? It's like nothing. Yeah. Having apple juice look away. So that definitely is something that's going to be interesting over the years. And also just imagine when we're like 80 and it's like 60 years ago on this day. We'll be saying back in my day we used to have the craziest Halloween parties.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Yeah by that point we'll want to show our kids like look how cool we are. Yeah at that point it'll be acceptable we'll say look at the fun we used to have. Seriously um well besides all of those memories this was definitely a turn of events for me because it was a very wholesome weekend, to say the least. I went to a Christmas pop-up bar, which, whatever, too soon, not too soon. I felt like it was not too soon. And then I also made gingerbread cookies and sugar cookies that were Christmas themed.
Starting point is 00:03:04 I was so jealous when I was seeing your Insta story post of said cookies because they looked pristine. They looked like the best cookies I've seen in a minute. I don't really know how they turned out that well. That was my first time. Have you ever actually made sugar cookies like Not from scratch. I've done like the Pillsbury break and bake but not it was in a package
Starting point is 00:03:29 But then we obviously had bought the cutouts and did the cutouts Yeah, but it was easier than I thought really and so I highly recommend and I will be doing it again Okay. Well, I would like to be there. Yeah, because it was fun. Maybe we can do that on a bonus. Oh, that would be cute would like to be there. Yeah, because it was fun. Maybe we can do that on a bonus content. That would be cute. Decorating Christmas cookies. So that was fun and wholesome.
Starting point is 00:03:48 It was kind of funny because I felt like I kept joking with the friends that we were with doing it. I was like, what are we, Martha Stewart? We're baking from scratch and baking these cookies. And then I watched the Martha Stewart documentary that just came out. That's what you were saying. cookies. And then I watched the Martha Stewart documentary that just came out. That's what you were saying.
Starting point is 00:04:07 And I wish I was Martha Stewart. I know. I need to hear about this documentary because I, as one could probably guess, have not watched the documentary yet. But you're saying she was the OG influencer. She literally was. It's actually so wild. So I feel like when our generation found out about Martha Stewart, we really just knew her as like cooking, baking, like cooking shows. Yeah, that type of thing. That was kind of the only thing we really knew. But no, like this, it did start as a
Starting point is 00:04:39 catering business for her. But the reason that it got so big, and she actually turned into like a lifestyle content maker she was gardening, baking, talking about hosting, talking about home decorating and content and I literally just did not realize how many things she did or could do. I would have no idea and like also I'm watching this I'm like how did she know how to do all this stuff because like even now when I like cook or do anything Like I enjoy those things. I love those things. Yeah, like in this day and age you're always like finding inspiration or finding recipes from other Yeah, take places and you don't necessarily like if you told me to make a sugar cookie from scratch. I literally big
Starting point is 00:05:24 You don't necessarily like if you told me to make a sugar cookie from scratch. I literally big Sorry, try again. Like I don't that's impossible. She literally knew how to do all this stuff I'm like, how did you know all of that? I wondered did say like it was a family tradition type So the gardening stuff was a family thing Her dad was like a really big gardener and taught all of their kids how to garden. So even still to this day she has like a huge garden and grows all of her food. Which is like goals. I don't understand how people know how to do this stuff but basically that's how she got so huge because like a lot of people didn't know how to do this stuff. We were sure to hurt it to she started No, they wasn't that was before that time. She started a magazine of
Starting point is 00:06:15 Lines with she went to Time magazine and they bought This idea from her way. And so she had like a bunch of different she had like weddings babies Hosting different holidays, things, everything. And I'm just like, I did not realize how much she did. Because we just I feel like got her when she when we really just knew her as like a cooking show, cooking show, person, personality. Yeah, things like that. I didn't know the lore behind Martha Stewart.
Starting point is 00:06:43 I mean, I guess it makes sense to get as big as she is that she had to start somewhere. But no, I was so impressed. I'm like, we always joke like I want to be Joanna Gaines. Oh, yeah, this is like the OG Joanna Gaines in a way. Like she really was not so much with like the furniture stuff. But right. Even still, she she does she has so many lines She had like a line with Kmart. That was huge. I guess now she has a line with Home Depot Martha Stewart
Starting point is 00:07:13 It doesn't But yeah, she just did so much. I highly recommend watching it. I thought it was so cool I was like I did not realize all of this But I'd to say the least I thought we were Martha Stewarting this weekend, but we weren't even close because we were using cooking stuff out of a bag that said like add an egg and add butter. I mean, that's cooking in my book. Same, I thought.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Or baking. That's from scratch in my opinion. Truly. For us it is um But yeah, and then I also didn't realize that her and snoop became friends because of the justin bieber roast I did not realize that either. Yeah, because I I always kind of wondered like I love them together I think it's the best duo and I never really understood like how this happened. Yeah And this documentary talks about how like
Starting point is 00:08:05 that's when they became friends. I don't know why I thought they were friends before that. Same, I just didn't, for some reason it feels like they've been friends forever. Like in my memory, they've always been best friends. Yeah, like what do they call it when you can't remember, like you remember something a certain way and it's just not true.
Starting point is 00:08:24 The Mandela effect. Yeah, like that's what this is for me. I, yeah, I would have, if I had to put money on it, I would have said that they were friends pre Justin Bieber roast, because in my mind also, the Justin Bieber roast wasn't all that long ago, but it was. Right. So maybe we're getting old.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yes, because I also, they brought this up in the documentary. The reason that they brought her onto the roast was because she had just gotten out of prison. I remember that. And they were saying like somebody needs to come warn Justin Bieber about what's gonna happen to his life if he goes to prison, because this was a time he kept getting in trouble.
Starting point is 00:09:04 So that was her role. So like she was trying to like scare him into not going to prison. But it was it was also actually funny. And I forgot how funny it was, but they showed clips of it on the documentary. So highly recommend watching that. And this is the point where we bring up on the other hand what Brittany was up to this weekend because apparently she's in her going to concerts without me era. So go ahead and tell everyone what you did this weekend while I baked cookies.
Starting point is 00:09:38 I mean the cookies look great so nothing to be upset about but I did go to the last Ares tour US show. So I went to Indie Night Three with Brian's sister and not gonna lie, we had a really great time. It was honestly- My invite I think got lost somewhere. Bri invited me. Anyways, we've had these tickets for over a year and I went to her concert when she was in Detroit, it's all the era's tour, but for those of you who know, she changed the set list when
Starting point is 00:10:12 she went to Europe. She added in tortured poet departments, she combined folklore and ever more to be one sister set. So things were different. But I would say also the feel of the city was different than when she came to Detroit. When she came to Detroit, the heiress tour. I mean, people were still over the moon, excited about it. There were, you know, some signature drinks at places downtown. But it was just on another level in India. It was also because it was the last one? I think so. Indy went all out.
Starting point is 00:10:48 So they had on the JW Marriott downtown, they had Taylor's like a mural of her painted onto the side of the building. It was, I don't know how they got to look so good. It was larger than life. It said Taylor's with the Heiress tour. Honestly, I feel like some cities probably do go all out because it is a huge, like didn't we talk about when this first was coming out, literally mayors of cities were thanking her because of the economy shift that
Starting point is 00:11:16 happened when she came. And so many people that we know actually came from Detroit to go see her there. So so many people do travel in from out of town to go see her there. So so many people do travel in from out of town to go to these things. So the city was just probably very, they were very thankful. All the street signs were renamed Taylor Swift lyrics or Taylor Swift song. When we got to our hotel, because we stayed at a hotel, probably like 1520 minutes from the downtown area,
Starting point is 00:11:44 they there was everybody that was at the front desk and they a hotel probably like 15-20 minutes from the downtown area. There was everybody that was at the front desk and they were greeting us with candy and Taylor Swift stickers and they had a sign for the concert. They should have had friendship bracelets. They should have had friendship bracelets. I had a plethora of friendship bracelets. It was such a fun weekend. I actually got to see, so while we were the day of the concert on Sunday,
Starting point is 00:12:07 oh, no one heard anything. On the Sunday, we got there Saturday. We went to a little Taylor Swift themed boutique. It was like women's small business owned super cute, waited probably too long in line for that, but it was well worth it. Got a bunch of Taylor Swift themed items. The next day we parked near the stadium
Starting point is 00:12:31 and then walked downtown to see, we wanted to see the hotel and just like find somewhere to eat, but while we were walking down there, on one of the streets, there was like a couple cops around, some cones and people lining the streets and we're like, oh, what's what's going on? And I guess they were like, oh, yeah, Taylor Swift, her cavalcade, her procession, whatever you want to call it, her police escort was coming down that road. So we just happened to be walking along. We got to see her drive by. So I'm convinced she saw me.
Starting point is 00:13:02 just happened to be walking along. We got to see her drive by, so I'm convinced she saw me. Oh. But who's to say? I did wave at the cars going by. Thank you to Rocket Money for sponsoring today's episode. Now let's get back to the podcast. You did get an extra hour of rest to be prepared because it was also daylight savings this weekend.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And I was thinking about that because just how again, how different our life is from what it used to be. Do you remember when daylight saving? We'd go to the bar and be like, we get an extra hour. Yes. Like that was the vibe. That was not your vibe, though, this weekend, even though you were like out of town for a concert. No, honestly, it worked a little bit against me because Taylor went on, you know, she goes on at eight. But to me, it felt like nine.
Starting point is 00:15:06 So I was kind of tired by the end of the show. I love it. I mean, not great for you, but also it's just hilarious that that's where we are. I was also sitting there, like obviously I had an extra hour of sleep, but probably what it got started getting dark at like 4.30 PM. It's kind of sad. And I was like, OK, should we just go to bed?
Starting point is 00:15:28 Yeah, I mean, that's how it feels these days. I know. Well, also, I had to look into this because one, I never fully understood daylight saving time to. I was told and I feel like we all kind of talked about this that it was gonna end That's what I thought. I thought that we were experienced. I remember Specifically, I couldn't tell you the year but specifically that we were experiencing our last Daylight savings I believe it was 2022 So I looked into this and what was actually messed up about it was that they were trying to make daylight saving permanent. And by
Starting point is 00:16:08 the way, it's not daylight savings. It's daylight saving. Well, yes. And so we've been saying it wrong for years. And they were going to make it permanent, but the proposal expired. So the point of it is you shift your clocks forward so that there's an extra hour of sunlight in the evening instead of in the morning. So when we move our clocks forward in March, yes, spring forward, yes, then now we get an extra hour of daylight in the evening. So like summers, it goes to like you have a longer day, all that. You have a longer day. And so the proposal for 2022 would have made it so that we move our clocks forward and it stays and we never move them back.
Starting point is 00:16:54 And I thought that was a great plan. Yes. But however, when it is winter, it takes away that one hour of daylight in the morning. So it stays dark while like people are traveling to work and traveling to school longer. Uh huh. And so a lot of people were against that. And then some people were for it, but basically if they were against it, so
Starting point is 00:17:21 you'd have darker winters because you're not shifting it back so you lose an hour during the day of like light time and then your circadian rhythm people were saying that that would mess up your circadian rhythm people driving in more icy conditions because since it's like darker during the ice isn't melting traffic incidences. So but they didn't end up doing it because the proposal expired. So now they're working on a new proposal. But that takes again, I think so. But it takes like years. I don't get why they let 2022 go to waste then. I don't know, but I kind of get like I see both sides.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Now I kind of get why we do it the way we do it and I actually don't mind it. I thought it was for the farmers back in the day and we still try farmers. Well, you can have like an hour of daylight more to work. But we have technology for big lights now. Yeah, I don't exactly know, but I get it. I mean, I like having the extra hour
Starting point is 00:18:25 in like the warmer months. I do as well. But I also don't mind putting it back when it's like winter so that there's more daylight during the actual day hours. You know what I mean? That's true. So I don't know. I'm kind of in between on it.
Starting point is 00:18:41 I'm 50-50. I always get annoyed when it actually comes time to do it because it does kind of mess you up for a while. Yeah. But my sleep's been weird lately. Yeah. But then after the fact, I'm like, OK, like this is this is what we're used to. You know what I mean? But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:57 They say it affects people's moods and like changes the way people behave because their circadian rhythm is all messed up. And I did want to talk this next thing up to that, although daylight savings didn't necessarily occur at this time, but we will talk it up to that. So we all saw Jason Kelsey smashed the phone out of the fan's hand. He apologized on Monday night football,
Starting point is 00:19:21 apologized on their podcast. And a lot of people are kind of agreeing with him in the comments. Like they were like, you were defending your family. Like I stand with Jason Kelsey. I think if you're going to use that kind of language, you don't deserve a phone. Well, a lot of people were saying that it's we're in a day and age where people are so used to being able to say whatever
Starting point is 00:19:45 they want and think like the Internet is going to protect them, whether like they're behind a screen or they're recording something so like they think like no one can retaliate, but like he's not from that generation. So sometimes there's real consequences when people act this way and they're just not used to that. As there should be. So a lot of people were kind of defending him. He did apologize. He's not happy. He seemed so sincere and so genuinely apologetic on Monday Night Football too.
Starting point is 00:20:17 And I get where he was coming from. He basically says like when you give into those situations and you actually react that just gave the person exactly what they wanted they wanted a reaction out of him notoriety now from it now everyone's talking about it whereas if he would have just never reacted it would have never gone anywhere gone viral the way it did and so I kind of feel him on that it's so hard sometimes though to not respond and I comments. So many weird comments all the time, just with the magnitude of who he is and his family.
Starting point is 00:20:52 And the association with Taylor Swift. Exactly. That I'm sure it gets to him after a while, after seeing things, hearing things. Especially in person. Like people don't realize, you don't have as much time to like pause and things. Especially in person, like people don't realize, you don't have as much time to like pause and think things through in person,
Starting point is 00:21:09 whereas like online, which is crazy because people are saying like the most out of pocket stuff online, and they have time to think it through before they post it and they still choose to, but you have a lot of more time to then to be like, oh my God, I want to respond to this I want to answer but like I think about it somewhere and go back to it where this it was in the heat of the moment
Starting point is 00:21:32 We're all human Yeah, I stand by Jason Kelsey, I mean Is it right to smash somebody's phone? Not necessarily, but I understand why he did it. Yeah, that's kind of how the general reaction was to it. And apparently now Penn State University police are investigating the incident report says that the school is looking into criminal mischief and or disorderly conduct
Starting point is 00:22:01 towards Jason or towards the person that was speaking to I don't know because there was no clarification. Jason was it was your self defense I would say. Well, this led to a much deeper investigation on my side of things because you brought up when I told we were talking about this, that Travis and Jason Kelsey are putting out a Christmas album. I love this so much. Yeah I was so confused because I feel like especially Jason but honestly both of them they do so much like they sometimes they work in yeah but it's sometimes I'm like what is the brand strategy here like where are you going with this? Like their cereal line?
Starting point is 00:22:45 Yes, like sometimes it's just all over. They think, like it's like us, but instead of like we'll think of things and be like, oh my God, we should do this. And then we just like never do, because like ultimately it makes no sense for us to do that. They just do it anyway. They just think of things and they're like,
Starting point is 00:23:00 okay, done, and they actually do it. So this is one of those things. But I didn't realize that this has been going on. This will be the third Christmas album. They had one last year, too. I didn't realize there's three. Yes, it's not. So this is not really Travis Kelsey's thing.
Starting point is 00:23:16 It's Jason Kelsey's thing with two other offensive linemen from his previous football team. So it is, this will be dropped or this, their song with Travis just came out because when they put out their Christmas albums every year, they have different guest features on it. And a lot of times they are former football players. That's so cool. Will feature on these albums. So the album this year is coming out November 22nd. And this song was a collaboration with Boys to Men. And it was with Travis Kelsey, Jason Kelsey and the Philly Specials
Starting point is 00:23:57 is like actually the name of the group with Jason Kelsey, Lane Johnson and Jordan. They have a band name. Oh, this is for real. And so Jordan, I don't know if I'm going to say this right, but Melada was actually on The Masked Singer. Was he really? And in 2022 and performed as the thingamabob. I love that. And he actually has a background in music.
Starting point is 00:24:22 And then apparently Jason Kelsey also has a background in music. Yes, he really, he can has a background in music and then apparently Jason Kelsey also has a background in music Yes, he really he can do it all Yeah so in 2015 he performed a cover of cover me up by Jason is Bell and His original song homes change on the radio. He performed these in 2015 so he's been doing some stuff with music for Almost a decade now, but now he started this Christmas thing and every year
Starting point is 00:24:48 They put out an album and have different features the second album the one last year had a bunch of players from the Eagles You mail Reese and then they had Jalen hurts AJ Brown Brandon Graham a bunch of different people featured on the album. And this year, supposedly, the album is going to feature Stevie Nicks. I mean, that doesn't surprise me. I feel like Stevie Nicks is a friend of Taylor's, but maybe a friend of Jason's as well. Or maybe now a family friend of Jason's.
Starting point is 00:25:22 Exactly. That's incredible. I can't wait to listen. Are they going to be selling them on vinyls? Yes. And so the proceeds from the vinyl sales will go to support the Children's Crisis Treatment Centers Holiday Troy Drive.
Starting point is 00:25:37 And then when they've done this in the past, they do normally do donations of some kind. And then actually Donna Kelsey is getting involved this time She starting November 1st, which already started but she is selling ornaments of the Philly specials on QVC so you can actually look them up and buy them. I believe I want to watch I want to see I think it already happened Well, I'm gonna look it up.
Starting point is 00:26:05 I'm gonna watch. Maybe I'll buy an ornament. They're very cute. They look, they kind of give Snoopy Christmas vibes, in my opinion. I looked them up. Snoopy Christmas vibes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:18 I feel like I understand. I don't know how to explain it. Like, that was the vibe I got from it. But anyways, they're very cute and yeah So this is actually a legitimate thing that apparently happens every year that I had no idea about. Oh my gosh. It is Snoop Hey, yeah, they look like the characters from Charlie Brown We need one for our tree. Okay. Well we can look into that. Um, but I love this I didn't know this happened and
Starting point is 00:26:48 They are just funny to me. Like literally when they get an idea They're just like side quests on deck like they stay doing a side quest and that's something I can respect Same we need more side we do but also like Same. We need more silence. We do. But also, like, we think of things and I'll think of it for too long. And then I'm just like, no, it makes no sense. Yeah, I think we need to think less. Act, do more. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Agreed. Maybe that's something we think about. And we'll think about that until we don't think about it any longer. OK, well, you're making me cough now. I'm sorry. OK. Also, speaking of football players, we obviously have to bring up that the Lions won again. Oh, yeah. And there was the infamous Amin Ra stand on his head during the game after he scored a touchdown. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Which I I did not get to watch all of the Lions game because I was at the Air Store. I did see this and I did have to ask you, I say what was the context of the head team? Is there ever really context with them? No, and I should have known that, but I love that even more, that it was a touchdown celebration.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yes, so he stood on his head and it went everywhere. I got kind of mad about this because I was like, please don't do something to jeopardize and hurt yourself. No, that's what I was thinking, too. Like, I'm glad that that went well. But like, what if it wouldn't have like how pissed would everybody be? I would be beside myself. You know, I would be beside myself. You know I would be beside myself
Starting point is 00:28:26 if he would have gotten injured. We've had enough things happen. We don't need to add this to the list. So can we reel it in a tad? One and done with the headstands. And then also there was a little bit of controversy in this game because Brian Branch got kicked out of the game for a really not serious penalty.
Starting point is 00:28:44 I mean, it could have been a serious penalty, but no one got injured. It was a helmet to helmet penalty. And obviously this happens during football. Right. You don't want it to happen. It happens. I was explaining it to you and I'm like, dude, if you're 200 pounds plus running at full speed, do you know how difficult it is to stop
Starting point is 00:29:04 yourself or actually move? Like, what is the saying? Objects in motion, stay in motion. That is a large object man running. He wants the same motion. Well, did you learn that thing science class? It's like physics, yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 00:29:18 And anyways, so he ended up getting kicked out of the game over this and everybody was shocked. Like, announcers, everyone watching, everyone tweeting. You said it was kind of surprising. Like it wasn't an intentional thing that he'd. I feel like you see that happen, not all the time, but regularly enough where it's not an account for somebody to get thrown out of the game.
Starting point is 00:29:41 Personally, I don't think I've ever seen somebody get thrown out over it unless it's like a multiple and this didn't occur intentional. No, and it was the first penalty of the Lions of that game, which the like there was no reason to throw him out over it. And they kept saying that it was like the intent. But what was interesting was Tom Brady was actually announcing for this game. And I was texting Brittany. I was like keeping a really close ear on this situation. I said, thank you
Starting point is 00:30:08 You know, she she thought maybe he had an issue with the Lions I don't think he does and he actually took our side and almost got in trouble for it So after Brian Branch was thrown out of the game He ended up saying I don't love that call at all. I mean, obviously it's a penalty But to me there has to be serious intent in a game like this. Basically questioning the official's decision. And because he owns a 5% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, he is not allowed to publicly criticize or disagree with official rulings for the NFL.
Starting point is 00:30:44 So people were saying, like, is he going to get in trouble for this? But he didn't get in trouble. It doesn't look like he's going to get in trouble. If he would have kept going and kept disagreeing, he may have gotten himself into some trouble. I think there's like fines. You can get suspended all that stuff. But right now it doesn't look like he's going to.
Starting point is 00:31:03 And he's stuck up for the Lions in a way. So well, good. He needed to make up for everything that he said in the previous game that he was announcing for, because. I'm glad that he's grown last time. I'll just say that's good. That's good. Yeah, he didn't seem one way or the other for us or against us this time, but he did stick up for us on that. What I did
Starting point is 00:31:25 think was interesting though was there's a bunch of rules that Tom Brady has to agree to in order to be an ESPN announcer because he has that five percent stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. Interesting I mean like I didn't realize he had such a love for the Las Vegas Raiders. I think sometimes people just do that. Like a business move. It's kind of like how like Mark Cuban like randomly buys basketball teams. You know what I'm talking about? I just thought he loved them.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Maybe he does. And maybe that's the situation here. Maybe that is exactly what it is. But yeah, so he isn't allowed to go in other teams facilities, not allowed to to watch practice not allowed to attend broadcast production meetings and usually ESPN announcers will also have access to coaches players like leading up to games and
Starting point is 00:32:16 He can't really do all of that stuff because it's a conflict of interest Yeah, so then people when he got this deal I remember we talked about it like people weren't sure about it People weren't sure if he was gonna this was why this was one of the main reasons why is because he's actually not allowed to do A lot of this stuff, which I did not know but I mean honestly He probably likes it that way because he gets to show up Yeah, announce the game and go home where a lot of like other people who are having more obligations Yeah, so he kind of has it, you know, that way, but.
Starting point is 00:32:46 It's living the good life. Yeah, but he did announce the game and he seemed not biased in any way. So you can. For now. You can lay off him for now. But in more Detroit sports news, the Pistons had to take the subway. This was hilarious.
Starting point is 00:33:04 In New York City because of the New York City Marathon. And I saw clips of them literally just standing on the subway. Killing on the subway. It was kind of funny. And it made me kind of look into this marathon because I was seeing some posts from it. Yeah. And I didn't realize that the New York City Marathon
Starting point is 00:33:23 is the largest marathon in the world. And this year there was almost 165,000 applications and only 4% of those who applied were accepted. That's insane. Those are insane numbers. Right. Like I'm pretty sure you have a better chance of getting into Yale. Oh, absolutely. Getting to run the New York City Marathon. And there's a lot of different ways that you can get into it. And apparently, if you like, run with a team or a charity partner, you can qualify at a different race beforehand. You can win win the random drawing. There's a lot of different ways to get in. But I think most people try to win the random drawing and that's why
Starting point is 00:34:06 I see a lot of people don't get accepted. There's a lot of lore behind marathons, like it's a whole subculture, I want to say, of just people who that is what they do. They run marathons and that is their personality and I am kind of fascinated by it. I'm not gonna lie. Do I want to be a part of it? No. Kind of like cruises. Fascinated by them. I'm not gonna go on one. But they just live this different life of running 26 miles. I kind of, I'm not gonna say I get it because I don't get it, but I will say there was a period of my life in college where I would run I will say there was a period of my life in college where I would run, probably, I wanna say like six miles or so, like I would run for an hour straight.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And that was what I would do like at the gym. And the feeling that you get when you run for that long is genuinely like a high, like they call it the runner's high. And that is like how I would feel like after like I'd be so stressed about school So stressed out go to the gym run and like you feel so good after See, I just but you have to get to that point. I've never experienced that kind of It's so funny because at the beginning of my pregnancy before I knew I was pregnant I was feeling so good, which this is crazy because most people are like so sick. Yeah, I was feeling so good, which is just crazy because most people are so sick.
Starting point is 00:35:26 I was feeling so good. I had no idea where this energy came from. He wanted to run. And I said to Evan, I go, I think I'm gonna start running again. He was like, oh, so here's me, okay. I take myself in the gym. I run two miles, felt amazing.
Starting point is 00:35:43 I couldn't walk for a week. I was like, okay, well, I guess I'm not starting running because it is something too, where do you ever see the videos of people who are like, haven't run but gonna do this half marathon, and they just like don't train, don't prepare, and will like take videos of themselves trying to run this? They actually say that you can get,
Starting point is 00:36:04 I forget what it's called, but it's something with your muscles where you can literally damage your muscles for a long period of time if you do that without training. Because if you overwork them that fast to that amount, it's like not just a soreness, it's basically like a soreness that lasts you for a very long time
Starting point is 00:36:22 because you actually damage your muscles. I did not know this because I've never attempted to run any length of, you know, time distance without having to. And like being chased or something, right? Like being chased or like being required to run the mile. These people would probably survive in a lot of horror movies. Right, and I wouldn't. I've said before, like, there's like some kind of alien invasion. Like, do I even, like, want to see that through? Right, like you just want it to kind of be over with? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:58 Yeah, no, I mean, you're definitely not going to outrun aliens, I don't think, in any capacity. No. But I don't know if they would either, to be fair. But it is crazy to think that you can run for 26 miles straight. I don't even wanna drive 26 miles. How long does that take? Driving 26 miles would take you like 30 minutes more, maybe.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Probably like 30 minutes minutes maybe like 35 minutes But and i'm not interested in that kind of drive either think about this this takes them like I think it's three and a half to four hours Imagine that imagine by 10 a.m You ran 26 miles I would be a much different person than I am currently. It's something that I don't totally understand to that extent. The smaller amounts, like a couple miles
Starting point is 00:37:50 and you feel great and like that I get. Blue season too, they don't have sore throats. You're coming up with the excuse, you're not even in it, you're coming up excuses why you can't go. No. No one wants you to go. I would be on the sidelines handing out orange slices. That looks.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I did see some people were handing out like champagne, snacks, all that. I like the champagne idea. Yeah, I did see that. I also saw a video. So apparently since only 4% of people can actually run it that apply, a lot of times people will just try to like sneak in And run with everybody, but they don't have a registration number
Starting point is 00:38:31 And there was a man and I don't know if this is a regular thing but it seemed like it might be a regular thing who stands in the middle of all the runners with a broom and like brooms people off that don't have numbers or like registration to like deter them from like I mean he doesn't actually like broom them but kind of like that's what he's doing like calling people out with the broom and like walking them off if they don't get out and a lot of people were in job it looked like it and a lot of people were saying that they're glad that this person does that because they like applied to get in and didn't get in.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And when they finally do, they don't want people just like showing up who aren't in it. Right. In taking away from their experience. Yeah. So I thought that was kind of funny. I mean, it looked ridiculous. But also, this was kind of funny. I mean it looked ridiculous, but also this was kind of ridiculous a Runner who is an influencer? I guess he's like a huge Influencer that does a bunch of running tic-tacs and stuff his name is Matt Choi
Starting point is 00:39:39 He was disqualified from the marathon and banned from any future New York City marathons for having two friends on e-bikes with him like recording him and like I think giving him snacks and stuff they were like recording the experience and assisting him and they ended up banning him for this for life because they said it was like in the way of other runners, could have injured somebody. And so- They weren't paying attention.
Starting point is 00:40:13 They're on a bike and other people are running. I know. Could end bad. He did apologize and like acknowledged that he realizes now that this could have injured somebody, they shouldn't have been in the way. But apparently he does this and usually he does have some kind of recordings with him. And that's how he does his content usually, I believe. So people were like, how does he
Starting point is 00:40:36 normally do this? Yeah, maybe other marathons don't care because they're not as big. Yeah, I'm not sure. But some people are saying that's an overreaction. He shouldn't be banned for life and like yeah I Feel like you didn't do anything that it wasn't being malicious. It wasn't intentionally trying to injure others or Cause chaos so yeah, I don't know but I thought that was so interesting I have never truly looked into or saw the lure of the marathon.
Starting point is 00:41:09 I feel like this is the first year that I'm kind of seeing a lot about it. I usually see a few tick tocks on it. I want to say for the last few years, Nev from Catfish, I was telling you, I usually see his tick to-tacs because he supports um those that are blind that are running so he'll run with one of them to make sure that you know if anyone's in their way they can you know alert those people in front of him and make sure that he can run the route safely so I always like seeing those tic-tacs those make me I have seen that I didn't know he did it for actual marathon
Starting point is 00:41:46 Yeah, he does it. That's a wanna see quite frequently because I feel like I see his tic-tacs of that Regularly, so I want to say he does it for more than just the New York Marathon Interesting. I Did not I've seen like little clips of that, but I thought it was more so like I don't know in my mind like maybe A half marathon like you're committing yourself and others to a full marathon. Yeah, like yeah wild But no that was Interesting to see this year. I wonder if they're gonna make a decision on this Banning for life. I wonder too if you like get banned if you go when you're not
Starting point is 00:42:26 actually registered like people the people who like show up if they don't get out when they're supposed to. Yeah. I don't know. I could see that. It feels like they take it seriously. Yeah it's a very serious situation. No joke out there. Well, speaking of no jokes anymore out there for wicked PR starting, people are no longer joking around about the Ethan Slater, Ariana Grande relationship. No, everyone is. They're taking it seriously. Yes, people are turning a new leaf
Starting point is 00:43:00 and are in full support of this relationship. And I don't know where it's coming from, but good for them. Yeah, I was kind of shocked when I saw some of the red carpet interviews of how like the questions even from people who interview on the red carpet have completely changed. Like now it's like, what was it like supporting the love of your life, getting their dream role? Yeah. And like, it's such a was it like supporting the love of your life getting their dream role?
Starting point is 00:43:25 Yeah, and like it's such a positive thing on the question. Yeah But I also have seen a lot of people saying that Ariana and Cynthia are starting to look and act like each other in Really are their mannerisms are so similar in the interview clips that I've seen it It's honestly kind of fascinating. It's funny because I feel like people have always said that about Ariana Grande, like she kind of transforms into whoever she's hanging out around. Yeah. And like in this instance,
Starting point is 00:43:58 that's what I guess we're kind of seeing. I mean, who's to say who's, you know, like you kind of mirror the people you're around. You really do. I can see, you know, like, you kind of mirror the people you're around. You really do. I can see that because I feel like, like we say and speak, I feel like similarly, like you'll start saying, like, I don't know, I'm trying to think of like a random word
Starting point is 00:44:19 like you would start using, then I start using it. Or like, if Brian starts to say yeah like Certain verbiage all pick up on it and then you'll pick up on it. So it does make sense Yeah, people are comparing That now and then people are also starting to the movie comes out the 22nd and people are already pleading With wicked fans. Oh my gosh, please who plan to see the movie in person to not sing along during the movie. It's not a sing along. I really don't want people sing along.
Starting point is 00:44:50 And allow the audience to hear the vocals of the actors, which I did see something too that they actually sang all of, um, Cynthia and Ariana sang everything live. They did, which is extremely impressive. I'm really excited to go see it. For that reason. Yes, I want to hear their vocals. I want to see it. I have seen Wicked when it came to Detroit a couple years back,
Starting point is 00:45:16 and I really loved it. Haven't seen it since, so the storyline itself, I remember it vaguely. But I'm really excited to see them sing live. Same, I've seen it a couple times and I really actually do wanna see it. People were also commenting that they were, they didn't love the first looks of the cinematography,
Starting point is 00:45:39 like the lighting and it felt washed out to them. And they were comparing like images from the first look of this movie versus Wizard of Oz and all the colors and stuff. So it'll be interesting to see how it actually looks in theaters. But I wonder if they wash out certain scenes of it that we've been seeing because they do go,
Starting point is 00:46:02 I'm pretty sure, like to Oz. And they're at the school and then they're at Oz, from what I can remember. Obviously it's been a while. So maybe they wanted to have that distinction between the two atmospheres. It's so wild when I see like critical stuff like that already coming out and it's like, we don eat we haven't even seen the movie the movie yet
Starting point is 00:46:26 Let's just see what happens. But also speaking of wicked I will say we were kind of surprised at how few wicked costumes there were this year And we kept thinking like that was gonna be a huge one this year I feel like next year obviously it probably will be as the movie gets big and comes out but we are gonna get into all of the costumes that we did see and review them in this week's bonus content so make sure you go watch that if you want to see that but let's get into some shady stories with Shady story number one. Back when I started in high school, I was dating this guy.
Starting point is 00:47:10 He was a senior and I was a freshman, but we had been dating since I was in eighth grade and he was a junior. We were each other's first love. My parents hated the fact that he was so much older. Realistically, he was only two years older than me by age and three by grade. So it wasn't terrible, but still they hated it. So because of this, we were super on and off the whole time we were together. As my freshman year started and my parents got stricter,
Starting point is 00:47:33 it got harder. One day I found out that he was constantly talking to other girls and hanging out with them and would tell me it was because my parents wouldn't let us be together and it was just to pass the time. So I convinced myself that it was okay that he did these things. Then came homecoming. As a freshman, I was so excited to go to my first one, but he convinced me not to go to my school's homecoming, but to go to his since it was his last one.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Fast forward to the day of, and I'm getting ready, I get a call from a friend of mine that goes to his school saying, "'I'm sorry, but he was hooking up with this girl last night and sent me all of her information I was livid but somehow let the guy I was dating talk me into still going after fighting for hours The whole night I tried not to think about it, but I realized I was tired of fighting for his attention Another few weeks go by and one night I see him being a play-a-play again on the. That girl and him were tweeting at each other about hanging out again and I lost it.
Starting point is 00:48:28 He was literally on the phone with me that day saying he loved me and couldn't wait until my parents let us be together. So I decided I wanted to get even. And what's the worst thing the girl you love could do? I called his best friend and told him how over everything I was. I called his best friend and told him how over everything I was. And a little backstory for you, this best friend had been secretly trying to hook up with me the whole time his friend and I were on and off. In all honesty, he would F anything that walked and so I used that to my advantage and snuck out to see him.
Starting point is 00:48:58 We ended up sleeping together and promised we would never speak of it. It happened more than once after this night. The second time my parents figured out I wasn't home and I ended up grounded for six months. I never told them where I went and the guy and I ended up breaking up for good. He found out three months later from a random guy at a school that I guess the best friend had been bragging about it too.
Starting point is 00:49:19 So here he is calling me and he sends me this long message asking if it's true and all I responded with was yes. And he called called me ugly crying telling me I'm the worst person in the world and my response was well it was just the past the time since we weren't together and we didn't speak again. My parents still don't know what I actually did that night and that guy doesn't know I slept with his best friend more than once but this is what happens when a playa playa gets caught.
Starting point is 00:49:47 It sure does. I think my favorite part of this story is the fact that she used exactly what he said to her back at him saying, oh, it was just to pass the time. Cause what an awful shitty excuse of a person to say, oh, I'm just hanging out with them to pass the time. Like, excuse me, sir, no. He was fully trying to take advantage of the fact that she was younger and thought he could get away
Starting point is 00:50:13 with this and like play her. And it just didn't work out for him, rightfully so. And he got what he deserved. Which was revenge. Which was exactly what he was doing to her. So I'm glad that he got to see how it felt and I hope he learned from the situation but he probably didn't because... Because we all know how playa playas are. Mm-hmm. What are we rating this one? Um I really enjoyed the whole story, so I'm gonna say 8.5 out of 10.
Starting point is 00:50:45 I agree, 8.5 out of 10. Shady story number two. I just turned 19, but rewind to when I was 15 years old in the midst of COVID when I was extremely bored. Randomly, a cute boy requested me on Instagram. His profile picture was of a high school boy in a football uniform.
Starting point is 00:51:03 He was very good looking and had a dimple. I accepted his follow request as soon as I saw him because he was so cute. Anyways, we started talking just through DMs, just normal conversation, nothing suspicious until about two weeks go by. One day I sent him a voice message and he was like, oh no, you don't have to do that. I was thinking, okay, why does it matter? I love voice messaging and it just felt like fun and more genuine. Anyway, the conversation continues and we were talking about family and our siblings and that he told me he didn't have any siblings.
Starting point is 00:51:39 The next day we were talking about TV shows and he asked if I had seen the show You on Netflix. I hadn't seen the show so I was like no But then I did look it up and the realization and I realized that it was about a stalker I didn't think much of it in the moment, but then again, I was a little I was a little taken back because what? The next morning we were talking and he mentioned that he had to leave the chat for a few minutes because he was making his sister breakfast. Immediately in my mind went down to when he told me he didn't have any siblings so I confronted him about it and he told me, oh yeah, it's my cousin, but she's like my sister. In the moment I thought it was a little sus because the stories of him saying he had or
Starting point is 00:52:24 he didn't have any siblings weren't adding up but I also knew that dynamic is normal for a lot of families so I didn't think much into it. When I told my friends about him they agreed that he was cute and insisted that we dig a little deeper. What we found was a lot of shady information. It turned out that he had been a catfish the entire time. When we traced the football uniform to of his profile picture, it went to a high school in Michigan. The name though, I can't remember. It matched a real guy whose photo he used and we discovered that that person in the picture had actually gone to play for U of M a few years back.
Starting point is 00:53:03 I genuinely was so scared and afraid for my life because my mind went straight to when he asked me if I had watched You and explained to me how he loved the show and told me to watch it. My friends also revealed that this person behind the Instagram account was actually in Atlanta. I don't know how she found that out. So when I tell you I was so stunned,
Starting point is 00:53:24 literally who is this person that I've been talking to? I felt so ashamed and guilty and afraid for my life because of the stalker vibes he was giving me. Me now looking back at it, why was I even talking to a stranger on the internet in the first place? I felt so naive. I haven't told anybody about the situation since it's happened because I was too scared to bring it up, but honestly it feels good to say it now because now I can look back and laugh. Maybe just a little scared, just a tad.
Starting point is 00:53:50 This is actually wild. And to be catfishing someone and be like, have you ever watched You? Yeah, like how sus is that? Like, why did you just give yourself away? Yeah. But also like good thing he did that. No, a hundred percent good thing he did that that but how weird to bring that up to say. Oh, yeah. I love that show
Starting point is 00:54:11 That's my favorite show. I'm actually just like the guy from that show What? Yeah, I also just feel like at any point like I liked that show as well But I would never make that a conversation starter when like first talking to somebody like, have you ever seen you? Yeah, it's a great show. I'd be like, are you all right? Like absolutely not. But that is scary.
Starting point is 00:54:35 I'm glad it worked out that you figured everything out. It's so funny how when we need to be investigators, we are FBI level. And we follow our gut and we find out the information to confirm what we needed to confirm. And that's exactly what you did. It's just so funny how the internet, like this guy was trying to use and take advantage of the internet,
Starting point is 00:54:59 but like you did it better. Yeah, a thousand percent. I think this is like nine out of 10. I agree. Shady story number three. I had some roommates when I was in grad school who were beefing with each other pretty hard. One was extra anal about everything
Starting point is 00:55:16 and the other couldn't stand it. They didn't get along at all. Anyways, seeing as it was time for all of us to move out, one of my roommates put toilet water in the other one's salad dressings and other condiments that were in the fridge. I watched it all happen and I never said a word to my other roommates about it.
Starting point is 00:55:33 She was kind of a B after all and honestly, it wasn't even my business. Absolutely atrocious. I don't know if I could justify this one. Mm-hmm. Like, so bad. I feel like whenever you have roommates, like, there's always things you disagree on, but like-
Starting point is 00:55:55 Right, we're never gonna get along perfectly. But imagine to the point of, like, putting toilet water in the dressing, like, first of all, what? And second of all, did like, I feel like bacteria would start growing in it. I feel like you would get sick for sure. You could get like seriously ill. Absolutely, you could absolutely. I'm pretty sure bacteria like breeds in the fridge
Starting point is 00:56:20 and in food and stuff too, so like. Oh, here's the thing. Here's the thing. Here's the thing. Would love to hear. I don't know, but like what if. Here's the thing, I don't know. What if she accidentally forgot she did this and then like ate it herself.
Starting point is 00:56:36 Yeah, or like mixed up like some of like, like ranch. I picture ranch being in there. And what if she accidentally poured it into like hers or like one that somebody else used? Right, but like how do you know that was the only person that was gonna eat that?
