Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome back to the podcast. We have not that many topics to discuss this week however the things that we have to discuss are arguably some of the most important that we might say for a while. This could be one of the most important episodes that I film this season. I couldn't agree more and so we're gonna start off with what's truly important why we're all gathered here today. The Lions beat the Vikings and we are first seed in the NFC North. We are not surprised by this. We've been predicting this.
Starting point is 00:00:32 We will be at the Super Bowl as we have said. But a couple of things happened that we were a little surprised about. This is true. There were some surprises this week. Big week. Well, we're going to start with this. So the Lions posted me on their Instagram page. Now you might be thinking, why would they do that?
Starting point is 00:00:55 No, I'm thinking that too. But truly, if we're being honest, it wasn't about me. But a win is a win. I think it was, but it took everything in me not to comment, that's my best friend. A win is a win. That's all I wanted to comment. And it's truly an accolade that I will think about reminisce on for forever.
Starting point is 00:01:19 I will live on the Detroit Lions Instagram page forever. Arguably. That is one of the coolest things that could happen. That was the first thing that popped up on my Instagram. And I was flabbergasted. I was pumped. I went through every emotion. You were on the same Instagram page as Dan Campbell. I didn't think about it like that. I did. No, truly what's funny about this is
Starting point is 00:01:48 in the moment right before like it came on, I was like, if we go on the jumbo train again, like I'm getting out of the frame because we need to come up with something like we got to start coming up with something because this isn't the first time that like they've shown my dad on the jumbo train plenty of of times and I said I was like I'm done being a part of this unless there's a bit so I'm thinking this I'm like about to go the thing comes on I'm like oh no like I can't have I'm in the moment now and but never before did the Lions post the jumbotron that That is so true because you've told me before when you've been on the Jumbotron
Starting point is 00:02:28 and I've told you when I've seen you on the television which is always a very exciting moment. Very alarming. Very alarming because you don't know when you're on the television. Yeah, because like a lot of times too and at all the Lions games, I feel like they do this though like they'll have people come out in the field
Starting point is 00:02:42 and they'll show like Calvin Johnson, Barry Sanders, who's ever like there at the game like they'll have them they'll give them a moment but like you never know when you're there like if they're showing that on TV or not right so normally we're texting about it like what's going on but it's always delayed too so we never know. That's the tough part with you being on the TV, but also just the game in general, because. I ruin everything when we're there. Yes, but it's also very helpful in high stress situations where I,
Starting point is 00:03:14 I will like go in ebbs and flows of like when I'll check your text in real time and when I'll be like, okay, I just need to be in the moment. But if I'm extra stressed, I know I can just look down my phone and know what the future is going to be in the moment. But if I'm extra stressed, I know I can just look down my phone and know. I will tell you what the future is going to be, which is very, very helpful. Well, overall, it was honestly not that stressful of a game.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I feel like I was prepared mentally to be way more stressed. And my eye was actually twitching, going into the game because that's how much anxiety I was having. Arguably that could be from multiple things going on right now, but I was like, it's the Lions game that's causing this stress. I told you, I thought I was going to throw up. But then once we were there,
Starting point is 00:03:59 I was like calm, confident, cool. And then I. It's great. And I feel like that's how our team was as well. They were, they were cool, calm, confident, cool. And then they great. And I feel like that's how our team was as well. They were they were cool, calm, collected, despite the Vikings buying two million dollars in tickets. Allegedly, allegedly, I think that was a scare tactic. So actually being there, one of the first things I texted
Starting point is 00:04:18 Brittany was that they didn't look. I expected hearing that that there was going be a big sea of Vikings jersey. I did as well and I was very nervous for it. And that wasn't how it was. Like I saw some and you could hear like there was a couple times when you know when we're trying to make a play and then the other team will try to get loud.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Right, try, keyword. I mean, it was nothing in comparison but there were times you could hear it, but you there was never a visual of like, oh my gosh, this is a daunting Vikings crowd, right, which you would have believed by all the headlines of like the $2 million tickets. Exactly. I guess they needed all the help they could get. But what did it really do?
Starting point is 00:05:02 We make a better showing it. I think every single one of our away games, you can always see the blue in the crowd. You can hear the Jared Goff chants. I want to say you could hear them at the last game that we had, the 49ers game. And that is a true fandom. Yeah, I was expecting a little bit more just based on all this hype around it. But I will say I'm glad it wasn't that way and I'm also
Starting point is 00:05:28 very very glad that the next games will be at home now because we are first seed and I will say too in the moment. I genuinely feel like this was one of the games where I felt like You actually have a home team advantage. I know they always say that when you're at home, the crowd affects and stuff. I visibly multiple times saw how this crowd was affecting the play. I mean, you could see it on TV a bit,
Starting point is 00:05:57 but I feel like when you're there in person, it's totally different experience. It was genuinely like, I was like, oh my God, we actually impacted that play because they were having like false starts. Yeah, there was a lot of things going on, which it does happen. And like this happens with a lot of teams and a lot of times. But in though, in the moment, I was like, wow, I've never actually been like
Starting point is 00:06:19 this could have played a factor in how the game turned out. And at that game, I felt like that actually played a factor in how the game turned out and at that game I felt like that actually played a factor and it hopefully will play a factor in our next games. And also a huge factor in this game was Gibbs with his multiple, multiple touchdowns. I know it was crazy. And what was crazier was that I piece of news this week, the big news, the second big piece of news, I got to meet Jameer Gibbs. And that was one of the best days of my life. The way that Britney was acting I'm so like and I feel you on this because we have done
Starting point is 00:08:14 our fair share of like little meet and greets throughout our lives especially when we were younger. I think I was more nervous about this than any of those. And truly I was gonna say this to me when she was texting me I'm like this feels like you were a kid going to Disneyland to meet your favorite character and like as much as you guys have seen all of Britney's outfits if you watch the podcast on YouTube I think we arguably together own an entire wardrobe of lion's gear. But this did not stop Brittany from feeling like she needed to go buy a new outfit to go meet Gibbs.
Starting point is 00:08:49 I did. I went to the store and I did in fact purchase a Gibbs jersey to wear to the meet and greet. And I just wanted to represent, I wanted to show that I was a true fan and the nerves I felt in my stuff. I don't know why. I was nervous.
Starting point is 00:09:08 This was through work. We did a meet and greet with him and so it was very quick. There was a big long line and all day the day before when I found out I was going, I was like, what am I going to say to him? What will I say? And I threw out a lot of funny things. I was like, I'm gonna tell him. I don't know that I love his girlfriend's tic tocs,
Starting point is 00:09:29 which I did somehow some way when I got the words out. At first, I think the first thing I said was, thank you so much for being here today. And then we took our picture while my hand shook like a leaf because I was just nervous. I felt very embarrassed. And then I said, I love your girlfriend's TikToks. Nicole, her content is so great because I love all of her TikToks and her style is just immaculate. She wears the coolest outfits. He couldn't hear me because the DJ was bumping. There was a DJ in there, so I had to repeat myself. But I think he was happy to hear that I loved his girlfriend's TikToks.
Starting point is 00:10:07 And then I said, and thank you for everything you do for the team. I feel like I said, you're awesome. And then I walked away and the girls that were running it, I knew some of them came up to me like, what were you saying? Like, he's really shy. Like he hasn't been like talking to a lot of people. Like, what were you saying? I was like, I just said I loved his girlfriend's TikToks. I feel like those are always so talking to a lot of people. Like what were you saying? I was like, I just said I left his girlfriend's tic tocs.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I feel like those are always so awkward because a lot of times two people won't like talk to the person because you're like, you know, you're going so fast and like respectful of other people's time. Yeah. But we kind of we went back and forth multiple times of like what to say and we were like joking and we were joking about maybe saying that like they should come on the podcast That was a joke. I I did say that in a couple of my rehearsals. I I
Starting point is 00:10:55 Rehearsed I'm on this podcast with my friend. It's kind of cool and we talk about you but we talk about sports a lot and And yeah, we were really big fans. And if you wanted to come on, that would be we. I think if I said, do you want to come on me and my friend's podcast? He'd be like, OK, OK, see you later. No, no, but I'm glad it worked out. I was excited to hear how it went.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I feel like those situations can be like super awkward. I think I blacked out a little bit like I know he said words to me. I couldn't tell you a single word that he said to me, but he spoke something. So that was my encounter. It was great. Well, you know what? That's like that's our celebrity. That's our version of celebrity.
Starting point is 00:11:43 And speaking of there were celebrities actually at the Golden Globes, because this was another big headline this week. The Golden Globes happened same time as the Lions game. But that didn't stop some celebrities from actually watching the Lions game at the Golden Globes, which would have been us if we were all Golden Globes. 100 percent. They have their priorities straight. Obviously, it was Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell, which they are from Michigan. And they're actually
Starting point is 00:12:10 I think they're from like Metro Detroit. And I believe that's actually how they met and got together. Oh, because they were from the area. Yes, I do remember hearing this story before. And this is something that I totally support them in and I'm also thinking like we don't know when our next game is yet and I've got other plans that are happening. Fully prepared to cancel all plans. Fully prepared to cancel anything and everything that would potentially come in the way of me watching the next Lions game. That takes top priority So on board, they did the right thing. Very on board for that. That is the vibes.
Starting point is 00:12:49 I don't like how they do that, to be honest with you. Like we had this conversation today, and it's like, since you already know half of the teams that are going to be playing, why can't you schedule those teams and then whoever plays them just get scheduled? I think it'd be so simple to have a bracket and say winner of X game and winner of Y game Play at this day at this time so then you know right it doesn't matter based on the team It matters based on just like who wins the game exactly and I feel like that's gotta be Something that they have behind the scenes that they just don't show, because how can they just have no idea when these next game?
Starting point is 00:13:26 Well, I feel like this is what keeps happening even to the Lions is they keep scheduling based on like prime time spots because the viewership is so high, which we also have talked about that this was like the third biggest watch game ever of Sunday Night Sunday Night Football, which that's technicalities. It's better than Sunday night. Nothing. No. So I feel like that's why they're doing it, too, to like see if it's going to be
Starting point is 00:13:54 like two really popular teams and they're going to give them like a more prime time spot. Speaking of which, and this is circling back to the Lions because it always comes back to the Lions. There was a halftime performance that I didn't get to see. Oh yeah, Quinn 92. I did get to see it. And I was pissed because there was report there was four reporters on the screen and you could see just like you could see Quinn like moving like in the background and you could like lightly hear his song and the whole time I'm like show me the performance
Starting point is 00:14:25 I want to see the performance not the reporters. Um, so I can confirm they did do the center of the field this time They did it. Yep so I feel like that's just gonna be a thing and then they either like expand it or Like do smaller just based on like who it is or what's the show for right? Um, his was like a little bit smaller of a stage than Shaboosie's, but it was in the middle and he did have like the cheerleaders and everything. Um, and then I knew only one out of three songs, which I was shocked because I'm like, I, you know, we love consider us to be pretty big fans. I know, but I also feel like I don't know if it was like maybe new. And that's why I didn't.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Yeah, that's why I didn't know it. But it was obviously good. And it was disappointing. I feel like they they definitely changed the way they do. Halftime shows from now on. Hopefully, that's good. It seems that way. So that was a positive. But more on.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Some football related news this week. We kind of talked about this last season on the podcast. We did. This came up and I do in fact love these jackets. Will I be purchasing one of these jackets? No, it's not in the budget for me right now, but Kristen Usecheck has teamed up with entrepreneur Emma Greedy? I'm not sure. I'm so sorry. Greedy, Greedy, wonderful work. Love your work. Hopefully not Greedy because that's
Starting point is 00:16:00 like a weird name for an entrepreneur. That would be it. I don't know. They launched a new brand. Yeah. So we talked about this last season. Christian use check was doing her custom designs for like specific people. She wasn't it wasn't available to everybody. You had to like reach out or know her. And she was mostly doing it for like the wags, the other like wives and girlfriends of football players. And then everybody was like begging for her to sell this stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:28 So she finally did. She teamed up. It just launched a few days ago this week. And they did debut. It's mostly puffers. Yes. There's vest, crop jackets, and then like full length jackets. Which look cozy. They do. So the price ranges on these are a little bit more expensive
Starting point is 00:16:50 which I kind of figured this was going to happen. It makes sense. There's a lot of work that goes into them. They're very detailed. They're very good quality. And I said like for the Buffalo Bills specifically, if, and cause they're outdoor, they're an outdoor stadium. If I was a Buffalo Bills fan that lived in Buffalo I have the game going to the games regularly without a question
Starting point is 00:17:13 I'd buy one of these jackets in a second and that's kind of how I feel about this whole thing It like makes a lot of sense, especially for the teams that like have outdoor stadiums and stuff but and I also get the thought because most of football season is in the colder months. But like a lot of stadiums are indoors, like for us, it really wouldn't make sense to get like a huge jacket because we're just going to take it off once you're once you're inside.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Yeah, for tailgating, it would work. But we're not the type to be tailgating in the in the winter. I feel like most people in Detroit will go to like bars or stuff they don't like necessarily tailgate outside once it gets super cold. So even still, I don't know if you would want like a huge puffer. I hope that like I'm assuming this is just the first drop and then I think there's going to be more which we're obviously going to every time we're going to see what it is because we were obsessed with everything she did. She and I bet she'll do more to because I feel like they probably started
Starting point is 00:18:13 with the jackets because they were pretty iconic when Taylor Swift wore hers to the chief games. I know a lot of the other celebrities that were wearing them had the puffers, but she does all of her own game day outfits and she does quite literally anything you could think of. I've seen her make into gear. So I'm going to say there's got to be more drops than this one. This is probably just how they wanted to start.
Starting point is 00:18:39 So I'll be keeping my eye on it. And the the entrepreneur that she teamed up with actually has done like skims, good American. So she has like a very good. Oh, yeah. She knows what she's doing. Maintaining, you know, business's longevity. So I feel like this is obviously a good a good pair for her. I think so. And I'm excited to see what else they come up with. Me too, because it all it all looks really cool. Okay let's get back to some Golden Globes and since we're on the fashion topic we are gonna be talking about the Golden Globes fashion red carpet looks on the bonus content. If you wanna join the Patreon, that's what we're gonna be doing. We're gonna try to do a little, a roast if you will. We're gonna take some points from Nikki Glaser
Starting point is 00:20:53 who hosted the Golden Globes and she's known for her roasting abilities. So we're gonna try to roast some red carpet looks. We don't know. We'll see how it goes. We'll see how it goes. So if you wanna see that, make sure you join the Patreon. But let's get into some Golden Globes content because Nikki Glaser did host
Starting point is 00:21:09 and I did not get to watch. As I said, obviously, the Lions game was on conflicting, but as we said, Lions take priority. So we didn't get to watch, but I saw plenty on TikTok and I swear every single clip I saw of her hosting, I was so impressed because again, I feel like we've talked about this in the past. A lot of these award shows, especially when it's like celebrities and other celebrities, like it gets like awkward almost.
Starting point is 00:21:33 Like there's not a lot of reactions from the crowd and things get a little weird. So I feel like she did such a good job and I did not not laugh at one single clip. No, it was incredible. 11 out of 10. One of the better award show hosts that I have seen, probably pretty top tier. I would think that they'd invite her back or she'll get invited to do more.
Starting point is 00:21:57 She's definitely going to she has this style of hosting that is like a roast almost. But she did like such a good balance of like making. Roast kind of jokes, but not taking them too far to actually offend anybody there. When you do like a real roast, obviously you kind of take it too far. In this situation, I feel like it was the perfect mix of like funny and roasty. But I feel like that's what made her hosting. So like good and different from other hosting that we see normally. So that was fun.
Starting point is 00:22:32 And then also, it was very fun, probably for everybody, except maybe Brittany. Heartbroken a little, a little, a little heartbroken. Zendaya did come out wearing a engagement ring or what is being speculated to be an engagement ring. It definitely does seem like it's playing out that way. They never officially announced it. Her and Tom Holland are engaged supposedly, allegedly. And she's wearing this ring not just to the Golden Globes, but now she's been spotted multiple other times still having the ring on. So it's not like it was like a fashion statement
Starting point is 00:23:07 at the time. And she's definitely not one, she's very intentional with her fashion. So if this wasn't an engagement ring, I don't think it would be on. I don't think so either. Her and Law are, they pick immaculate outfits and every detail is so well thought out that this has got to be an engagement ring.
Starting point is 00:23:28 And I mean, she was spotted throughout the Golden Globes with people coming up to her asking to see. Yeah, asking to see it being very surprised, very happy for her. So I'm very happy for them. Although Tom Holland is notably my celebrity crush. It's OK. She is also, I guess, a celebrity crush of mine. So they can be together. They can be together. She is perfect.
Starting point is 00:23:50 So they deserve each other. And they have been romantically linked since 2021. I know, but for some. Because everyone feels like they've been together for like 10 years. That's what I was going to say. I'm actually surprised to hear that. Because I, in my head, it's been so long, but that's only four years.
Starting point is 00:24:09 I know. But like, I don't... It's because they've been... Spider-Man was like 2017. Yeah, so they've been friends for that long, but they were dating other people I think through, you know, those first couple of years, always having a great friendship, you know? Well, people also noticed besides the ring that she has maybe a little T tattooed on her rib cage.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Yes. And he's got a Z on his rib cage. I don't know how people came to that conclusion because I haven't seen anything about that. I've only seen the small clips of people talking about, looks like she has a tea tattooed on her. But then I was looking into it a little deeper and allegedly they went to this very specific allegedly story.
Starting point is 00:24:52 Um, everything about their whole weird specific engagement for how private they are. And I don't whatever article I was reading said that they went to a tattoo shop in Boston around Thanksgiving and Tom went first and then Zendaya and they specifically paid one hundred dollars instead of the one hundred and fifty dollar minimum because they got a discount, which they definitely needed the discount. No, they we love the we love. No, we love a good bargain.
Starting point is 00:25:28 We do. I love that even more. They got a deal and now have matching tattoos. And then I love that shortly later. Can't really. I think we've discussed plenty of times that I'm not a tattoo girl. You're not. I have zero and also don't plan on getting any. I would get more. I don't know what of.
Starting point is 00:25:50 See, that's what you gotta just like wait and think about it. I know, I feel like. But this is honestly surprising to me because I feel like when couples do tattoos, it never works out. Right, I. But like I trust them.
Starting point is 00:26:04 I trust them as well from afar. I don't know anything about them except what we hear. I feel like they have a specific relationship because that's just the vibes I get from them. I don't know. I would I get a matching tattoo with Brian? No, no, he would never. I feel like Brian would never do that.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Brian's never getting a tattoo. But I would get a future one, not a matching one. And then I don't know, just the random snippets that we've heard about their engagement have also been so specific. You know what I mean? Like they got engaged specifically between Christmas and New Year's Eve in a home of Zendaya's family in America and it was just the two of them but Tom asked for the parents permission. Yeah elated
Starting point is 00:26:56 Yeah, just a lot of a lot of nitty-gritty details. Yeah I mean again, I'm not sure if they'll ever actually come out and like say anything about it. I don't know especially Especially I feel like they're going to and maybe do we do this in our predictions as they're gonna have like a secret wedding Yeah on the bonus content. That's what we talked on the bonus content. We said for sure they were getting engaged So that's already a win for us. And so we're already correct So if you want to predict the future even more, also join the page, I'm gonna go see that because apparently we are witches and we're correct. Yes, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:27:30 So, so that's also another thing, which we've, we forgot to talk about this. We did. Tom Holland is launching his own non-alcoholic beverage. And it's coming to Target. It is coming to Target. I don't like beer but I kind of want to try it. I don't know. I mean some NA beers are not like terrible but like it's been a long time since I've had one. So I feel like again I don't know. No better time than the present to try one.
Starting point is 00:28:03 That's actually probably true. Um, I have to look into that. I don't know what the apparently it has a lot of benefits. So the one that you see. Yeah, I've watched some interviews on it. I like that idea. I like the idea of it kind of being like, almost like a health drink. Yes, health plus that I think that's kind of his angle. He's like, we want to focus less on what we're taking out of the drink, the beverage, whatever you want to call it. And more on what we're putting into it and the ingredients and like the advantages it has.
Starting point is 00:28:35 So that was my takeaway from that. I don't think he'll also dabble in wine, but I kind of want him to dabble in wine as well. Cause I'm more of a wine girl, not a beer girl. So that would be up my alley. He might just stick to the beers. Perhaps. I feel like normally when we hear about celebrities
Starting point is 00:28:56 doing like beverage lines or something, we kind of are like, maybe don't. Maybe, maybe. Cause it's like very over saturated right now. Yeah, maybe not. but I do like this idea because I don't feel like a lot of non alcoholic Beverages have come out correct that way. No, they have and they are like it's I feel like it's becoming more of a thing I agree. I feel like a lot of the ones that are currently out are from Like a long time ago. Yeah a long time, just from like beer companies and then coming out
Starting point is 00:29:26 with an option. Oh, this one doesn't have any alcohol in it. Not people that are intentionally creating something new to be what he's creating. I like it. I do try it. I like it when it gets to Target, which I don't know when exactly, but it's all happening. And then also at the Golden Globes, the we talked about this on a previous episode that there was a lot of lookalike
Starting point is 00:29:49 contests in 2024, and celebrities were very aware of these lookalike contests, even showing up sometimes or sending videos. Two of the celebrities who got involved in their celebrity lookalike contests were Timothee Chalamet and Glenn Powell. And those two winners were actually invited to the golden globes and able to like take pictures on the red carpet and be a part of it how fun for them i can't imagine showing up to a lookalike contest in central park one to start just showing up and then winning it and then proceeding to be
Starting point is 00:30:26 invited to the Golden Globes. I'm also curious how did the Golden Globes find them? I mean I guess maybe they publicized that they were the winner. I know with the Timothée Chalamet one there was a lot of controversy because the police broke it up. I honestly thought the guy that won got arrested or something at one point. I didn't hear about any of that. Yeah, we talked about like. We didn't talk about that they got arrested or anything.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Somebody got arrested at that one and I wanna say it was the winner. That's wild. For like public disruption. I don't know if that's a law or like what it's called. I thought you were gonna say indecency for a second. I'm like, what did he wear? No, maybe he didn't.
Starting point is 00:31:06 I think just at least one of the Timmy impersonators got arrested. Maybe it wasn't him. Who knows? I don't wanna spread lies or rumors. Anyway. Not on this podcast. No, we only speak facts. We don't speak facts.
Starting point is 00:31:21 We specified that it is. Allegedly. Exactly. So I'm just really happy for them, I guess. We don't speak facts we specified that it is allegedly exactly so I'm just really happy for them. I guess is Yeah, that was their moment they were probably shaking like a leaf too just like how I was If you're listening Brittany's demonstrating Like Yeah, I there was a lot going on at the Golden Globes But I feel like that
Starting point is 00:31:45 kind of encapsulates it all. If there's anything we missed though, since we are doing the red carpet roast in a way, we will talk more about the Golden Globes on the Patreon bonus content. But for now, let's get into this week's shady stories, starting with shady story number one. I lied to my coordinator saying that my parents got divorced, so I didn't have to complete my essay when I was a kid. In reality, my dad went to Germany for a trip and had to come back to make it clear I'm not a kid who lives in a divorced household. This one was short, sweet and to the point.
Starting point is 00:32:20 But I just thought this was so funny because like kids really do like think of like excuses that teachers probably hear so much regularly and then like find out later. Was not it was just not true at all. This specifically like, can you imagine parent teacher conferences? You think this like you you're probably so sympathetic for this kid. You're probably like, oh, my gosh, don't worry about it. Don't even think twice about the essay.
Starting point is 00:32:47 And then like next parent teacher conference, both parents walk in fully married. Happily together. What do you even say? Your kid is a fricking liar. Right, cause you can't really say, oh, I thought y'all got divorced. Cause like, what if they worked it out?
Starting point is 00:33:02 You don't wanna bring that up. Honestly, kudos to this exact lie because you can't really confront the parents about it because you're like not wanting to overstep too as the teacher i feel like that's wild terrible but also i just can't imagine if you're a teacher and you're listening please just write in some of the lies and the shady stories you hear from your students about why they couldn't get something done. Like I am sure it's limitless. I don't think I ever did anything like that as a kid, but I was recently, I was just talking
Starting point is 00:33:35 to my mom about this. Apparently when I was in just all through school, I would prefer to stay home than go to school. Like if given the choice, which that's how we all really were. But I was hyper aware of the amount of absences that we got for like, each half of the year. Like, I've always seen elementary school was like, maybe 10 for like, I don't know if it was a full year, but it was like, I think it was like 10 for the first half 10 for the second half. And in my eyes, why wouldn't I use those?
Starting point is 00:34:08 It was like PTO days. If I don't use them, I lose them because it just restarts. And my mom could not fathom where I got this mindset from. Honestly, I feel like you were the person that told me, Oh, no, I fully took advantage of them because like, again, like you said, if you if you're not going to use them, you lose them. It's just a way you get 10. And also, though, there was always like a cheat way around it, too, because if you had a doctor's note, it didn't count.
Starting point is 00:34:37 So you technically had 10 personal days and we were good students. So I just couldn't fathom why my mom wasn't on board with I get 10 if I don't want to go to school today and we only have a month left, I should be able to skip for two weeks. And that was the thing too with the note because she would say, well, what's going to happen if you get really sick and like you can't actually go to school? I said, you're going to know it doesn't count because I'll get a note from the doctors. Oh, I wonder if it's still like that. I mean, I guess we don't really know, but I don't know if the times have changed,
Starting point is 00:35:09 especially since like, I feel like since they did hybrid schooling too. Like I know now like at some schools, they get half days like once a week. That's so nice. Yeah, and like we never got that. And I said too, that should always have been a thing because I feel like mentally if I knew that like okay
Starting point is 00:35:25 I get one half day. I would push through I push through the other days. Mm-hmm So I feel like that's something that needs to be considered as well. No, I agree and here's the thing Do you remember when we were in elementary school? it was common courtesy and the teachers almost like Forced made like if you were going to be absent and you knew you were gonna be, like you were saying you were going on a trip, they wanted you to come to them and let them know,
Starting point is 00:35:49 like these are the days I'm gonna be gone, can I get my schoolwork for those days? Like that was an expectation, right? Right. Well now sometimes I'll see on TikToks these teachers that are just pissed, like absolutely fucking pissed if students try to get their work before the trip.
Starting point is 00:36:08 They're like, don't come to me asking like what we're going to do. Like you can find out after you're back. Like, like not like, oh no, like I want you to enjoy your time. Don't worry about the schoolwork. Be prepared when you come back. Yeah, you'll be caught up. Yeah, fall behind. But no, they are
Starting point is 00:36:26 Fucking livid not to drop another aft bomb But like they I've seen multiple teachers rant about do not come up to me and ask for my schoolwork And I know I there was times when like for dance I know I was going to nationals or something like that Where I was gonna be gone for a couple of days and it was always an expectation. I feel like maybe they're not prepared as an advance now. So like they're like, I don't know what I'm gonna be teaching on those days.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Which is wild, cause that was never a thing. No, I remember too, like even if you got sick and you like your doctors know, said like you needed to be out for X amount of days, you have the flu. Yeah. Then they would let your friends or like family pick up your work. Yeah. So you could do it at home. And like I did that multiple when I if I ever got sick if I ever went on trips I would always do that because then like you're caught up you know what they're learning you know what happened while you were gone. Yeah. And you don't fall behind. But like if you're not letting kids do that, if they do have to miss or they take their 10 PTO days,
Starting point is 00:37:28 their PTO days, then they're not caught up. That's interesting. It pisses me off when I see the teachers, because like, okay, if that's your policy, then just like maybe let the class know so they're not coming up to you and asking if it's gonna piss you off, but also if they wanna be on top of their work.
Starting point is 00:37:47 That's a positive thing. Yeah, let them do something positive. We need ambition. We do. But yeah, if you're a teacher, please write in your shady stories. Yes, actually I'm dying to know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:59 I always thought I wanted to be a teacher, but prove me wrong. Shady story number two. So I decay eight years ago ish, my parents went out, which they rarely did on a retreat. So me and my big sister were in charge of our younger sister. I was 13 and my older sister was 16 and our little sister was eight years old. We told her that she was going to a camp for naughty kids in the south, bordering to the German border, and that was the reason our parents finally went out, was because they couldn't handle the goodbye.
Starting point is 00:38:33 She kept switching from believing us to not. We told her that she could pick a teddy and a picture of our parents. We took it even further when we chose to walk to the supermarket which happened to be located right next to the bus station. On the way there we showed her a picture of potato fields and we told her that was where she was going to work. She still wasn't sure whether to believe us or not. Then we went to arrive at the bus station. There so happens to be a special bus and another kid her age with a backpack So we hugged her said goodbye and we told her we would see her in six months and we walked around the corner
Starting point is 00:39:10 20 seconds go by and when we go back just see her standing there crying where we told her it was a prank and we Were actually going to go get some ice cream. I Just put this because I thought of I just put this because I thought of Like how far like how far they took this I was like that's actually wild to be like I feel like as soon as They thought it was real like if I ever played a prank on my siblings like yes if they ever actually believed I big Never mind. No,mind, like you panic. But like to actually get to the point
Starting point is 00:39:48 of taking them to the bus station, I actually can't. No, that was a fully executed prank. It wasn't just an idea. It wasn't something they just simply teased her about. They had her pick out her teddy and said, let's go. I also feel like that's so traumatizing, but it kind of also remind me of roles reverse, like when you used to get mad at
Starting point is 00:40:11 your parents when you were younger, like your siblings, oh my gosh, hack your suitcase and pretend I feel like we've talked about this. Yes, you like pretend you're like, like, like the kids like roles reverse, like kids like, nope, you're out of here. The kid on mom swap. He said, he said he's like roles reverse like kids like, nope, you're out of here. Like the kid on Mom Swap. He said he said he's like he is the bacon's good for me, kid. And he said, I want to see her run in those little high heels.
Starting point is 00:40:33 And he said, I'm leaving. I'm getting all of his quotes mixed up, but I will have to. You've never seen. No, he's a little kid. He was on Mom Swap and his house was probably like probably like the quote, like they ate junk food and had snacks and things like that. And then the other one's like super strict. Super strict on like healthy
Starting point is 00:40:52 and she was cleaning out the fridge and he was like, no, no, no, you're taking away all the good stuff. And she was taking away the bacon. He's like, bacon is good for you, me. And she was trying to compromise with him, being like, okay, if there's nothing in here, you'll eat. Like you can pick out one thing of junk food to keep.
Starting point is 00:41:09 And he was like, no, I'm leaving, I'm outta here. And like went to his room and like, I think he got a little suitcase and he was like, I would like to see her chase me in those little. Oh my gosh. How could have you not? I think it's the funniest clip and I wish I could quote it better.
Starting point is 00:41:26 But yeah, also in regards to the story, they let 20 seconds go by. However, what if this little girl actually got on the bus? I thought about that too. And the bus went away like they would have been fucked. Screwed, yeah. I did think about that too, but thankfully it worked out.
Starting point is 00:41:47 So, and they got ice cream. Allegedly. Allegedly. And then it's two against one. So if the little one, when the parents came back was trying to tell her, like they tricked me. They said I was, and the other two teamed up on her and said, no, we never did that.
Starting point is 00:42:05 I, who are the parents gonna believe you? At the end of this, at the end of this, it did say to this day, our dad still gets mad about it, but our sister thinks it's hilarious. Oh good, happy ending for all. Happy ending for all. Okay, shady story number three. Well, I was sitting down on my bed playing my video games
Starting point is 00:42:23 and then all of a sudden I get a call from a no-caller ID And they said I'm going to find you so you better hide So I hung up the phone and I was scared to go to the living room because it was dark and everyone was sleeping But the following Monday my friend said I prank called you This was funny to me because I could just let the fear that I genuinely would feel and Also, I feel like anybody I would feel that fear as well. I'm going to find you so you better hide I'd be underneath the bed with a bat No problem, you got it
Starting point is 00:42:59 Say last I knew this was Eventually the time is now here. And what are we gonna do about it? Fight or flight? I got my bat. I'ma lock a door or two and I'ma pray. Sometimes I do think it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.
Starting point is 00:43:20 And I gotta be prepared. And if this call would have got me. I don't know if I could be friends with that person for a while like I would be so mad like I would actually be traumatized the guy first of all I oh my god I would have called the police and then no I think to explain like somebody is on the way sir send police send help and they just send an ambulance. And no, I would not let the 911 dispatcher off until an officer was at my door.
Starting point is 00:43:53 No. And I'd say they're going to find me. So you better find them first. Oh, man. This was a good one. That's incredible. It was a good one. I feel like the little theme of this one was actually kind of pranks. It was. Um, but that concludes this week's Shady Stories. Like we said, make sure you keep writing them in. If you want to join the Patreon bonus content, we will see you over there. And if not, we'll see you guys in the next one. Bye everyone.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Bye.
