Starting point is 00:00:03 Hello and welcome back to the podcast and welcome back to another spooky episode in the spirit of spookiness and catching up with what we did this past week. I feel that we need to talk about what we did because I never thought I'd be this person, but we can say that we paid an Etsy, which... We sure did. And it worked. No, it honestly, it was insane. You guys. Well. We were hosting our friend's 30th birthday for her.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Mm-hmm. And the weather, it was outside, supposed to be. The weather was rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, rain. Like 90%. Rain, rain, rain, rain. We panicked. And I saw on TikTok that somebody had paid this specific Etsy witch for good weather on their wedding day when it was pouring rain. So I was like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:00:59 We should try this. We should, because we were panicking. Correct. And I kid you not. I think the day after we did it. Correct. It was within 24 hours. The weather was rain, rain, rain, rain, no birthday rain.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain. And we were like, no freaking way that this worked. Kid you not. It exactly did that. It rained Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. No rain Saturday. Beautiful day. The most beautiful day.
Starting point is 00:01:31 perfect weather could not ask for better weather and then Sunday morning rain we did a service to this entire community and anybody with a wedding in the area because the weather that we had on Saturday was perfection it was like almost 70 degrees and sunny like and I think we were all a bit worried at first going to the day might get a little chilly no it was literally perfect perfect weather I will say we made one mistake, and if you ever do this in the future, maybe ask for the next day as well, because we were thinking like, okay, perfect weather. We don't need to worry about it. Left some of the stuff outside from the party and we're like, we'll clean it up tomorrow. Well, everything got soaked. So we probably should have clarified maybe we needed good weather for 24 hours, yeah, 24 hours. But let me tell you, our girl, she came in class. Yeah. So if you're ever thinking about it, just. do it. Best $10 we ever spent? No, truly. I don't regret a thing.
Starting point is 00:02:37 I would 10 to 10 do it again. Recommend highly. But also, let's get into some other things that happened this week because apparently Taylor Swift has added therapist to her resume. You know, I'm not surprised. I mean, truly, isn't she kind of all of our therapists? I would like to think she's my own personal therapist. She might not know that, but I feel like every time I'm in my car, screaming her lyrics.
Starting point is 00:03:06 It's a therapy session. Dude. I feel like during some critical years of where we probably needed therapy, we had that. We had Taylor. Some people have therapists. We have Taylor Swift. And apparently so does Dakota Johnson because she was hosting S&L, brought out Taylor Swift. Everyone was kind of like, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:03:27 This is random. And this was after Dakota Johnson was also in Taylor Swift's patient zero music video. I was. So kind of all pieces together. Some people were thinking that this appearance also had to do with some Easter eggs about when Taylor's next. Some things coming out in like November and people thought there was Easter eggs in this situation. Of course. Down to like the dresses they were wearing, the colors.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Correct. The whole thing. But yeah. So she was doing her. monologue. She was talking about going through like her two public breakups, which I guess I didn't really realize that. So Dakota Johnson dated Chris Martin. And then I knew she dated role model. But I didn't realize, I guess, like how known of a thing that was. I feel like I'm super nation to it because like I've told you about role model. And I'm like, do you follow him on TikTok?
Starting point is 00:04:22 Like he's funny. Right. But other than that, I feel like I was just in it because I was neat. I didn't realize, like, people knew about this. People were knowing of these things. Yeah, I thought I was just like... You thought you were like, it was like a little... A secret between us. Down under. Yeah. Like, between close friends.
Starting point is 00:04:40 But now, actually, that this is all going on too. Role model just went on chicken shop date that we talked about a couple of weeks ago. And nothing was really sad about, like, on his end towards this relationship. But it's very clear that, like, now he's kind of doing things. out doing things. Don't know exactly what the breakup was about. But Dakota did kind of throw shade about it saying that most people go to concerts and come home with merch.
Starting point is 00:05:08 She goes and comes home with boyfriends. So that was great. That's my favorite line. But also when she called Taylor Swift her therapist, she's like, Taylor was like, well, you basically come over with wine, flop on my couch and complain. And I just say, damn, that's crazy. Damn, that's crazy. No, when she said that.
Starting point is 00:05:29 I felt that in my soul. Same. The amount of times I've said in my life, but I feel like I've tried to get away with, like, get away from it. I catch you every time you do it. Damn, that's crazy. And like the thing is, I'm engaged, I'm listening. And I truly mean, damn, that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:05:47 But sometimes just lack of better words. Lack of better words, exactly. I fear in this situation, though, it did seem like Taylor was basically saying, I just, that's how I respond. Like she's not actively listening to her, but I feel like that's just female friendship. Yeah, at its core. But yeah, so she went on SNL, talked about dating musicians. I saw a few of the skits.
Starting point is 00:06:12 I thought they were funny. Yeah, no, she did a good job. I saw a lot of clips. I feel like she's, like, every so often somebody goes on SNL and I get like a wave of their skits. I feel like, though, truly, and I don't know where. where this is coming from. And again, maybe this is niche on my side of things. But I've seen a lot of, like, Dakota Johnson hate for this.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Like, really? People saying, like, she doesn't. She did a good job. People saying, like, she just plays herself, but in different. Oh, I would not say that. Yeah, I don't know. I never felt this way. And I feel like this is kind of just maybe.
Starting point is 00:06:46 I'm actually very surprised. Maybe this is just the new wave of, like, how the internet is, though. You know what I mean? Like, I feel like everyone, they go through phases of, like, everyone hated Taylor for a while then they loved her obsessed like heterogeneous now they're all starting to hate on her again i feel like it just comes in waves and for dakota johnson i feel like she's always kind of been under the radar a little bit like obviously she's super famous everyone knows who she is but i feel like she doesn't really do that many public like interviews really not since the ellen incident and i feel
Starting point is 00:07:18 like she became the people's princess what's the ellen if you say it i'll know but like when ellen was basically like, oh, you had your birthday party, and you had an invite me. She goes, that's not true, Ellen. Yes, I did. Ellen was like, and I'm skipping forward, but she was like, well, like, what do you mean? I don't think, and Dakota was essentially like, ask anyone here. And they were all like, yeah, you were invited. And she was like, oh, or somebody off screen, I think it was one of the producers, like,
Starting point is 00:07:49 you were out of town. Do you know, do you know what you're talking about? It's iconic. I do know what you're talking about now. That's not true Ellen. But I also didn't know this about her either. So you know how like Robert Pattinson always lies, like random little white lies in interviews? Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:08:03 I love him for that. There's Dakota do that too. I guess she does that too. Honestly, I kind of think it's hilarious. I love. I feel like it's them just having like fun with the spectacle that is like the press towards their lives of having to be on talk shows. And it also just kind of proves the point of that people do pick up on like
Starting point is 00:08:24 any little comment you make and hate on it. And it would be funny to see people hating on you for something you said that, like, you know it was not true. Yeah, you're like, I don't even read that. Like in one interview, I saw a little clip, and it was like her being like, oh, I don't smoke cigarettes. I've never smoked cigarettes. And then, like, five minutes later, it was her being like, oh, yeah, every Friday.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Me and my friends do Vogue Fridays where we smoke a cigarette and, like, do this and do that. And everyone's like, mind you, this was five minutes later. So, like, she basically just has fun with it. But I think it's so, it's refreshing to see like a lighthearted take with press because we've been talking about, even the last week, like everyone's PR, which don't get me wrong. That's why I've never done an interview. I don't want to say the wrong thing. Here, you know, I can say what I want and it's fine.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I feel like we live in a very safe corner of the internet. We do, but like genuinely, that's why it could never be me. But I feel like the freedom of going into something like that and being like, oh well if I don't want to come up with the PR answer I'll just lie I mean like it's kind of like mind change like mind it's mind altering yes mind altering like you don't even think that that's an option but like it you don't think it's an option but it is well we talk about this sometimes and we don't talk about it enough free will is literally the most important thing that you can utilize on this planet well especially in this day and age we're like people are going to hate you or love you
Starting point is 00:09:49 anyways might just well use your free will and just like frolic, have fun with it. Yeah. So yeah, supposedly she does that. And good for her. The other thing about this, and I don't know if you saw this, is that everyone started comparing Blake Lively and Dakota Johnson now being like, oh, this is Taylor Shep's new Blake Lively. This is the line in the sand, which I feel like it's kind of taking it to the extreme because, I mean,
Starting point is 00:10:14 unless I'm missing something here, I feel like this is kind of like two of the first big, like, public things they've done together is like music video and then Taylor came on SNL with with Dakota but I guess maybe because of the Colleen Hoover of it all because Blake was in Colleen Hoover's last movie and Taylor wanted nothing to do with it and now she's like really linked in this Colleen Hoover movie yeah and Patient Zero I apparently is like pretty similar like the song itself could have been in the movie like the story behind it because I haven't read Verity. Well, that's the other thing I was going to bring up is so that's why Dakota Johnson's doing all
Starting point is 00:10:56 this press and that's why we're seeing her everywhere is she's promoting Verity and it's officially out and Verity was the book first and then it was this and supposedly because I also haven't read Verity but when everyone read it which it came out in 2018. It's very popular. It was so popular and I feel like even like a couple years ago it was really really. popular. Yeah, when book talk started popping off in like, I don't know, 2020, 2021, I feel like that's when like
Starting point is 00:11:25 book talk was really taking off. I feel like I'm not even really in that niche of things, but somehow I still got this. Sometimes I dabble there. Yeah, and I like knew about this book and I'm like, oh, okay, like I considered reading it and you know, that's not typically what I would be doing. But anyways, I guess
Starting point is 00:11:43 it's about it's about like a ghost writer who writes for a really popular author. And now it's starting to like unleash this whole theory that Verity was written by a ghost writer. And not Colleen Hoover. Yeah. Writing about her own experience.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Yeah. So people were. Very popular these days. She, yeah. So she has a lot of romance novels that are popular. And they all have like a lot of the same elements people are saying. So like when you read a Colleen Hoover book, you know it's her book. And people didn't.
Starting point is 00:12:17 feel that way, I guess, when they read Verity. Interesting. They felt like it was the one of her books where they were like, okay, this is different. Because I guess it's more of like a thriller mystery than just like a romance novel. Yeah. And so people were like, okay, maybe this was supposed to be like super meta because it's a book about a ghostwriter writing for a famous author. So maybe she did that here. So I've seen that going around.
Starting point is 00:12:46 And then I don't know, I just seen like people being like, there is a specific writer that people think it is. Her name's Frieda McFadden. Okay. And supposedly people are like fully convinced she wrote this book. And then they think that also it proves it because years later, I guess a bonus chapter came out for Verity. And it was very different tone, voice, everything from the original
Starting point is 00:13:16 book and people think like that's when allegedly Colleen like wrote that part to like capitalize off the success of right the first book but it didn't pull in her ghost writer again so people thought that it was like completely different than the book interesting I know I didn't know about all that lore no that's the first time I've heard a lot of that I've just seen a lot now about that because of the movie coming out right and um so Dakota Johnson and Ann Hathel way are like two of the main characters and then Josh Hartnett and I've been seeing a lot of people like me before Verity and then me after Verity going to see the movie and like not having a good reaction either. Yeah, I've heard mixed reviews on the actual movie. I don't know. I wasn't
Starting point is 00:14:09 intending to go see it but maybe I will just to see what it's all about. But also I get spooked pretty easily. So I saw some people saying there are some jumpy moments, but almost like unnecessarily jumpy. Like they made them jumpy to add to like the thriller of it all. But it didn't necessarily need to be that. And maybe I wait till I can watch it in the comfort of my own home. And turn it down. During it gets jumpy.
Starting point is 00:14:35 That's kind of real back. That's what I recommend these days. So yeah, I kind of wanted to see it just because I didn't read the book. Yeah. I kind of wanted to be like, maybe people are just doing the thing where they're like, oh, the book is better than the movie. Because like that's what everybody does. Everyone loves to say that. Yes, everybody does that.
Starting point is 00:14:53 And here's my take on that. I feel like I have a very interesting perspective when it comes to movie adaptations of books. I, and maybe other people feel this way as well, I love to see the movie first of like a book adaptation and then read the book after because I'm never disappointed. and it's always like although I know what's going to happen in the book, there's always so much more context and detail to a book that you get to expand on the story that you already love. Like I did that with The Hunger Games. I think I did that with Twilight.
Starting point is 00:15:30 I think why people don't do it. And like this is obviously coming from somebody who doesn't read the book before the movie. They don't want it spoiled. Well, you don't want, I think what's nice about books is like people kind of create this world in their head. of like what the characters are. Like you picture somebody. And you know what? I love having the picture already ready for me.
Starting point is 00:15:50 And I will say that. And I think that's maybe actually part of like what I don't like about reading a book. Is because I like to be able to like fully picture somebody. So maybe do the movie first and then read the book. But I think that's why people don't like it because then they have like this character in their head and they can only see. Like now if you watch Verity first, then you read the book. Like you're picturing Verity as Anne Hathaway. Correct.
Starting point is 00:16:13 But like some people don't like to do that. They like to build the character in their head. Which I do that sometimes with some of the books I read. But like I've read like the fourth wing series and now I'm on Akitar. And I was like I feel like I would be able to grasp some of these concepts a lot better if I would have seen at least one one of the movies in the series. Yeah. Because there's so much world, especially in like worlds like that. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Fantasy novels. It's like, okay. Okay, maybe if I just had like some names, yeah, some faces, some to some names because there's a lot of characters and a lot going on. Yeah, I feel that. I think that might be my issue, but that's a fair issue to have. Very interesting. I'm going to be one of those people, though, that like, I'm okay with waiting until it comes to a home near me, a home TV near me. A TV near me.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Even though I love, I love going to the movies, not for a jumpy thing. Yeah, I'm all set on that. All set. Well, something else that I will be watching in real time, but on my phone is, have you seen the man who is kayaking through the Congo Basin? I don't know what's going on with my for your page. It's flooded with dancing with the stars. I'm under a dancing with the stars rock right now. Okay, so here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:17:36 I almost brought this topic up like two, three weeks ago. I think I was ongoing. This was, I think I was one of the. the first people seeing it because truly at the time and I don't know why. No way. Truly at the time when I wanted to bring this up, I erase it from the notes because I'm like, no one knows about this. Underground.
Starting point is 00:17:54 You're seeing all the underground things. I am. I feel like I just go down rabbit holes a lot. So then TikTok will feed me like, here's a random rabbit hole to go down. And I'm like, let me go down it. Hell yeah. We kayak through the Congo Basin. So anyways, this was like weeks ago on the notes.
Starting point is 00:18:10 I took it out because I'm like, no one knows about this. But now, literally this past week, it was on like freaking CNN. It's everywhere that this guy is going and journeying through the Congo Basin. I want to know all the details. So why? Why is he doing this? Okay. So there's this British adventurer.
Starting point is 00:18:26 And he previously was the first person to walk the entire length of Madagascar. And he also completed a 4,000 mile journey along the Yangtze River. I believe that's how you say that in China. And so he's done these wild adventures before. But now he's doing this adventure where he's going to the Congo Basin. And it's going to be a 435 mile journey down this river. And like when I tell you the videos that he's even using to promote this, like, I don't know how he watches this and's like, yeah, I want to do this.
Starting point is 00:19:00 There is like huge gorillas, huge crocodiles, anacondas, all this insane stuff. Shut up. It's one of the most. I'm terrified. You know, like, people are like, oh, yeah, the ocean is so, like, deep and unexplored and blah, blah, blah. I guess this is, like, the most unexplored place in the world. So why does he want to go through there? Further than that.
Starting point is 00:19:23 More than the ocean, supposedly. Like, they don't know how deep it is. They don't know the creatures there. There's apparently, like, not even just piranhas, but, like. Suggesting himself to, like, just. Well, what everyone's saying, too, is, like, really you're going to use a blowup kayak? Because by the way, yeah, that's what they're doing. They're traveling 430 miles down this incredibly dangerous thing.
Starting point is 00:19:44 He's alone? No, there's other people with him. They're documenting it because I think his thing is that he likes break world records. And so since no one has done this before, that's what he's attempting to do. Have people tried? Yes. And I think the last man who did pass away. A crocodile got him. Well, and that's my biggest fear.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And you know that. I know. And me too, because it's dinosaurs that are living. Dinosaurs that are living and we've talked about this one too many times on here. It's just terrible. Personally, you could never, if you, right now, if you gave me a tent and said go in the backyard for the night, I wouldn't make it. I wouldn't make it. No, and it's a shame because like I thought last, as of like two weeks ago, I thought I was going to apply for Survivor.
Starting point is 00:20:29 And I thought, I genuinely thought I could do it. And I go through phases that I genuinely think I could do it. because I look at it to the people on the show and I go, how are they more prepared than I am? Well, I think there are a lot of factors. There are a lot of factors. And if I'm being on it, like, if I were to see a single snake, I'd simply have to go home.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Oh, my gosh. I wouldn't be able to sleep. There was a spider about the size of an aunt in my car the other day. And I kid you not. So giggly. Brittany wanted me to throw out the thing that I used a hairbrush to get it. Brittany wanted me to discard the hairbrush out the window just in case any remnants of the spider were on the hairbrush. Correct.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Well, because, and what I said to you was you're going to continue to use that hairbrush? I wrapped it in a napkin and I used it as a tool. And now there are spider guts on your hairbrush. On the napkin. She's like, are you just going to throw out the hairbrush? I'm like, no, it didn't touch the hairbrush. In my mind it did. I don't like buzz.
Starting point is 00:21:41 And mind you, she wanted to throw an object at it. I had a water bottle already. While I was driving. I'm like, you cannot do that. I thought better. That is a risk. So it was a safety risk, apparently. But she thinks she's going to survive on Survivor.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I would love to go on that show. I really think I'd do a great job. Like I started to think I'm like what would I say in like in a video to like pitch myself? Yeah to get on the show. Tell them that story about the spider. I think that they'd say hard. I mean, I would bring so much spirit and drama and I would go. I would probably go insane because I would not sleep.
Starting point is 00:22:24 I would just stay up all night. Well, that's the other thing that I don't fully understand about this. How is he sleeping in the kayak? No. What if he tipped over in his sleep? No. So that's what the whole thing is. So everyone was like, how are you about to just take an inflatable kayak when there's all these things with like teeth and claws and this and that that could just pop it?
Starting point is 00:22:43 But his thing is they use the kayak. They inflated every day, go down. And then when it's time to like go at night, they just deflate the kayak. So it's easy to like be mobile. That's where they sleep. They sleep on the banks of the river. Oh, no. And so they are you?
Starting point is 00:23:01 using those because they're easy to, like, deflate and inflate. And also, if there were an obstacle in the river, per se, like, hippos, which I guess hippos are very aggressive and very dangerous. They're extremely dangerous. Which Madagascar would have not led me to believe that. No, Madagascar led me to believe a lot of things. That wasn't one of them. Yeah. And so if that were the case, then they could get out, deflate, walk for a bit, then get back in.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And the hippos not going to charge at them on land? Supposedly. I think that there's so many other things you could do. Well, this is a part of his larger project that he's calling Project 6. So he's doing like six major expeditions around the world and documenting it. But now too, he's getting a lot of crap because everybody's like, is this just an ad for like AI or Starlink? Because he keeps talking about how he's using Starlink to be able to like do things in real time. Isn't because are they like posting on social media and real time?
Starting point is 00:24:02 Posting on social media real time and going live and stuff. Because there was a girl who she's like, I was going to say sailed and that's not proper. She rode from the coast of California to Hawaii over the summer. Didn't she paddle? Yeah, she paddled. And that, and she was completely alone in that. She had like a team of people like monitoring radars and things like that and like tracking her, I want to say. That is so much more scary than this, I fear.
Starting point is 00:24:28 but I don't know. No, I think this is scary. I feel like. It is. I guess it is, but I think, like, I think there's some kind of, like, safety and having, like, a few other people there. Safe, like, power and numbers.
Starting point is 00:24:39 And, like, in your mind. You have a swim buddy. Yeah. In case anything goes down. But there's so many more things, too, that are out of their control. Like, obviously, you have the main ones, hippos, crocodiles, snakes. But then there's also, like, the rapids and the current.
Starting point is 00:24:56 There's also, like, mosquito. There's also like your, malaria and other illnesses. Like your own ability to be overstimulated. Let me tell you, I was overstimulated in my own car today because the sun was shining on me too bright. And I was trying to open a bag of dots pretzels. And it was honestly, I was on the phone with Brian and I was blaming him. Because he made me a sub for lunch and he put Italian dressing in a little cup and like sealed cup. And some of the oil got out of that cup.
Starting point is 00:25:28 somehow. Clearly his fault. It was on my dots bag and I couldn't open it. And Brian was telling me to use my teeth. I don't want to use my teeth. But I want my snack because traffic was so bad. I guess they don't have traffic to like piss you off on the rapids. But even to get here.
Starting point is 00:25:47 So there is no like actual route to get here where you like, you know, there's no paved road that you can ride on or anything. There's like checkpoints. Here's where you start. No, there's like checkpoints. And then. they're like supposedly run by people who are corrupt that will like shake you down for like money and all your stuff. And so I guess like the person that was driving them through these checkpoints at one point ran the people over and just went through because they were like, oh yeah, they're going to
Starting point is 00:26:15 shake us down. And so they just like went through it and like they. No, they didn't. They unalive to people? From what I understand, no. They just like kind of skirted and like, went through it. So what happened at these checkpoint people encounter them? Well, now they're deep within like the area. I think, I forget what he was calling the area that
Starting point is 00:26:39 Nola is where they like starred in. And so they made it there now. But to get there, they had to go through all this stuff and like take back roads and do all the stuff to get there. And everybody when he told that story about how they basically had to like just go through these two guys and
Starting point is 00:26:56 like, I don't know if they actually ran them. But whatever. That's what he made it sound like. That's what he alluded to because it was a crime. Basically. But he's had all these issues. Like his bags were delayed at the airport. They had to wait another day.
Starting point is 00:27:12 God telling him no. And everybody's commenting like, that is your sign. Like don't go. But he's still going. And I believe now the last I checked when this is being recorded, they're officially starting kayaking tomorrow. Tomorrow? Yes. So by next week, we'll have updates. Hopefully everyone's still alive. Do you have a note here that says bugs eating your pant? What's that all about? Because I saw a clip, and I think it might have been from a previous.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Attemptor. Expedition that he was on. No, it was this guy. Our friend. Saying that. Sorry. He's our friend. saying that termites ate his shorts. Perfect. Super ideal. But then it was like an issue because obviously they didn't pack that many clothing items because they need to be efficient, like how much they have to carry.
Starting point is 00:28:08 But then I saw a comment and someone saying, I would have overpacked for this trip. No, I literally, I've overpacked for everything in my life. I was thinking that. I was thinking that I'm like, dude, honestly, that's why we could simply never do something like this. I overpack going into the office for work. You know what I've been bringing with me? because I bring in so many bags, the Hulkkin has been coming with me into the office.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Dude, you are like a walking advertising for this bag. And here's the thing. I love it. Here's the thing. I have no issue with it. I've seen it at the store. And I've gone through the steps in my mind of like, do I need this? Do I not need this?
Starting point is 00:28:40 And I think it's happened like three times to me. However, you need it. You need it. You absolutely need it. And like talk about it. It's so I don't even know how to describe it. It's like I genuinely feel like I'm speaking with you. and 40 years.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Like you're 70. Like I turned into a 70 year old. You're telling you something like as a 70 year old woman. It's also kind of like. Stop it. Am I really? It's also kind of like you know how I was going to.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I'm so scared. You know like the MLMs with like the makeup and like they always get like the older women to like I could buy into it. This track. That's how I feel like this is with you. Like they got you. No. Like it's this is the MLM.
Starting point is 00:29:18 I love my Hulk and bag. If I could join an MLM for it, I would. I want to sell everybody. I feel like you're doing to me. I go around the office and I tell everybody all the reasons that I love it. But I also don't like picturing you at this young age, just like with my holking bag. Mealing in your hulking bag to the office for no good reason.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Like you have no good reason to be hulking anything around. You really don't. I bring in my purse. I bring in my backpack, my lunch box. It is simply too many items. My water bottle. Sometimes I'll have like a coffee with. me then I can put everything in there and we're in the space of life right now in
Starting point is 00:29:57 Michigan where it's 40 degrees in the morning so I want my jacket and then by the afternoon it's 60 I don't need it on okay I'm going back to my car jacket goes in my whole can bad I love it I'm obsessed with it I'm gonna take it chopping with me totally convinced they like got you you're no secretly in the I want every size I want the small size that's my neck I'm in this the small one because I think that that might make more sense for the office. Brittany, you could simply just not bring that much. But I'm nervous for the winter.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Like when it starts to snow and I can't roll my bag around, I'm going to start crying. And I'm the same girl who thinks I can survive on Survivor. Exactly. And I think that's what's comedic about this whole thing. But yeah, so I will keep you guys updated what happens to this because I fear I am deep within it now and I keep watching the updates. I just really hope that he turns out. turns out, Arroy, because truly, like, how will we even know? Like, and I don't want to know, but I'm just saying if something happens to him, like,
Starting point is 00:30:59 it'll be a couple days. Yeah. And it's just the sad truth of what he's doing for this adventure. And it's courageous. Does he acknowledge? She's risking his life? Oh, yeah, 100%. His fiancé is also a character.
Starting point is 00:31:14 And she's been making videos talking about, like, I don't know, she seemed real positive. about the whole thing and I'm just like, girl, I could never. If Brian came to me and said, you know what, I'm going to kayak through the, where, excuse me, where are they? Congo Basin. The Congo Basin, I'd say, sit your ass at home, respectfully. No. We're not doing all that.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Yeah, everybody's like, too, the comments are like, oh, so we're in the Congo Basin today. Because, like, oh, I got dropped off from Congo Basin. I just got dropped off here. No, that's my favorite. What are we doing here? When you get, like, also put into, like, random TikTok drama or just, like, random corners of the internet, you're like, oh, how did I get, how did I get, end up here? How did I get dropped off over here? I get dropped off in so many places. Some scary places. This might be the scariest lately, but let's drop you guys off into some scary stories for this week.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Do it. I added in two extra because I just feel we got so many this season, spooky season, and I don't want to miss out on stuff. So let's get into it, starting with spooky story number one. Not my story, but my dad's. My dad's friends, will call them Tim and Pam, got married and moved into a massive, beautiful house in the middle of nowhere, just outside of London. It was Tim's dream house. There were no neighbors, and the grounds are massive, and you could see small lights in the distance from the windows, and they were just street lights, and the nearest shop was 20 minutes drive away. nearest neighbor was even further. It also had round rooms. All but the bathroom and cellar were circular. I feel like that makes it even more creepy. And a nightmare to decorate. Tim worked away a lot on nights and so Pam was on her own a lot at the time, but she never really minded. She was at home on her own in their previous house and she had four German shepherds, so she felt safe enough. After about a week of moving in, she thought she could hear people outside walking and messing around. She called Tim, he came back,
Starting point is 00:33:16 Nobody was there, so she assumed it was like a fox or something. Pam also said she could hear people walking around the house and people faintly talking. But Tim just assumed it was because she was on her own and it was a new house in the middle of nowhere, and it was probably one of the dogs, which she adamantly denied. Tim asked my dad to put up a big fence around the back of their house so they could feel more comfortable letting the dogs out without watching them constantly. It took him about four to five days. The fence posts were concrete and concreted into the dirt.
Starting point is 00:33:46 so they'd survive the weather and wouldn't budge if the dogs jumped up them. He finished and went home and went to bed. The next morning, he gets a frantic call from Pam saying he needed to come back and look. He said he couldn't really make sense of what she was saying, so he just got up and went. When he got there, every single fence panel and posts had been ripped out and placed neatly on the grass next to where they were originally. The concrete was set and would have taken a decent amount of force and made a lot of noise to rip them out. There was no storm, no high winds or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:34:18 They were just neatly placed on the ground. My dad never set foot in that house again. He says he doesn't like paranormal things because it makes his nose fizz. He told her to call a church in the police and everyone was absolutely befuddled. Someone from the church did come, but I'm not sure what happened with that. But I do know that they moved out of the house to stay at her mom's but eventually went back. Not sure if this is allowed to be said or if I should say, but she did ask my dad. dad if he could set fire to the house while she was out and make it look like an accident because she
Starting point is 00:34:50 didn't want to be there on her own anymore. My dad obviously didn't. But eventually there was a fire that happened there and the damage was fixed and they went back. I think it was more so Tim that wanted to stay there with it being his dream house and all. I always find it so eerie. It's not like it was ripped out and destroyed in a rage. It seems like a calm I don't want you here. I don't blame my dad for not going back in the house because I wouldn't have either. Absolutely not. Arguably, I almost feel like it is more creepy that it was neatly placed. No, I feel like it's like even...
Starting point is 00:35:27 It's like I'm not mad. I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed and it's just like, I don't know, I feel like sometimes the more like thought, thought and calm, somebody is about something like this. You're like, oh, you're crazy, crazy. Yeah, that's like, it's like. it, yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:46 No other words other words up there than like, we simply need to get out of here. Yeah. Like that's worse than like it being like, yeah, the fence it was all ripped out of the ground, but also the fence was like completely destroyed. But then also I think in what makes it more creepy is like in that situation, you could put some rationalization behind it.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Oh, maybe it was when dear like, oh, maybe I don't know. You could think of reasons for that to happen. But this was like they wanted it. To be clear. To be clear, we're not doing this. Don't adjust. Don't touch this hard. Don't touch it.
Starting point is 00:36:22 We don't want to do that. Yeah. Got a blast. And it's always the same, it's always the same thing in like the movies where people's houses are ended up being haunted. It's like their dream home. Dream old house. They don't want to leave it. They won't let it go.
Starting point is 00:36:38 I'm sorry. No house is worth that. Catch me gone. Like I'm, uh-uh. Nope. Absolutely not. Not a fan of that. Not a fan.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Fooky story number two. My father was terminally ill. I had gone into his bedroom. I looked to see him pointing at his closet telling me to get his gun. I asked him to describe this entity. The next day, a home health care aide came and told me that there was something in my home. She described it as the same entity. It was the first time we had ever met her.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Yeah. So this was kind of what we were. talking about last week of like how a lot of times they say like when people are about to like pass away they'll like see start to see things yeah start to see like the other side don't like it don't like it at all but i also feel that this is one of those things where because like when people are starting to pass and sometimes they're you're like their mind's not really you know here right now like i feel like you could have easily rationalized this way but the fact that the home health they saw it and described the same thing real
Starting point is 00:37:43 Absolutely real. Mm-mm. That's very spooky. Don't like it. But also, hopefully you didn't give them the gun because I think you could have shot the thing and I don't think it would end well. It would not have liked that.
Starting point is 00:37:58 So, hopefully everything ended up fine. And, yeah, you didn't have to deal with that. Spooky story number three. A month after my grandmother died, I was asleep in my mom's room due to problems with breathing and sleeping. I woke up because I heard something, and I saw my grandmother standing at the door
Starting point is 00:38:18 to my mom's room watching me sleep. My brother's cat was going somewhat crazy. All she did was stand there watching me. For a few weeks, I would wake up, and she would be there watching me sleep. Never at the same time or place. One night I kept hearing where it sounds, so I got it to see where it's coming from.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I didn't see her hear anything in the house, and I looked outside, and I see my grandmother and other people just seated, and talking. I ran back to bed and covered my face to hide. A few nights later, I hear her calling me. I walk up, but I don't see her watching me sleep. I go back to bed thinking I was losing it. Then I hear her say, nothing is like it seems, and the truth will come out. The truth about the truth of your mom. My grandparents took my mom in when she was just two days old. The mother was a teen mom who left her there. My aunt and my mom are 16 years apart and age, and the teen was 16 years old.
Starting point is 00:39:13 But the truth still hasn't come out, and my aunt died a few years back, taking the secret with her. My grandparents, uncle, and aunt, and we believe a few cousins know the truth, but most have died and others won't say a word. What? So really, her sister was her mom the whole time. And so, like, the ghost of her grandmother. has been telling her that that's insane which is so insane um but also I just feel and like I don't know if I know that like people will come back to visit their like loved ones or relatives and like some people find peace in that would it freak you out it would freak me out and here's the thing I've had dreams like about relatives and that's okay I feel like that's a fair safe place to visit
Starting point is 00:40:06 But if you freaking step a toe into this home, heck no. No, don't do that. No, thank you. Because I am all set. I am all set on that. And I fear that like a lot of people probably feel that way. No, I agree.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Dreams are safe. Yes, but like actually being there and just waking up and seeing them standing there. Like, I'm sorry. Oh, my gosh. Are you trying to be like nice and visit me because it's not? Yeah. Like, no, thank you. So, yeah, this one was interesting.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I feel like it's so wild to think that, like, a ghost would come back and, like, tell you some tea. I mean, maybe that'll be us one day. Honestly. Honestly, I don't think we'll be able to help ourselves. If you see us, we're just trying to tell you something. We're just trying to tell you the tea from the grave. I'd like to say we're up to no, or we're not up to no good, but. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Hard to say. Fooky story number four. We had just moved into our new apartment. Me and my fiance and our son were in the process of unpacking and settling in when we had my cousin over helping and visiting us. We were mainly in the living room and I went to put the blankets away in the bedroom closet. While I was putting the blankets up on the shelf, somebody whispered my name right in my ear. It was so close I felt their breath and moved my hair and I also felt it on my skin. Naturally, I thought it was my fiancé and turned around to respond to him, but no one was there.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Everyone was still in the living room. I was so freaked out. I ran to my man frantic and crying because I had never had that happened to me before. And it was in the middle of the day of all times. And I wasn't even home alone. That was the first spooky thing that ever happened in that apartment. And by the last sentence in that, I feel like it wasn't the last. No, because here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:41:58 If something happens during the day, you know you're screwed. No. Because it's seriously, it's every scary movie. Like, you think you're in your safe space. It's like during the day, you're like, okay, I don't need to turn the volume down. I'll just watch it. And you're not hiding your eyes or anything. And if something happens, trust is gone.
Starting point is 00:42:16 I don't trust that movie anymore. I will be hiding the entire time. The volume will be on three. Yeah. And, like, you just know it's going to be a bad, scary movie because there is no safe space. No. That's how I feel here. Like, the daytime, you're screwed.
Starting point is 00:42:30 Yeah. You got to get out. Yeah. And thankfully, in this case, it was just an apartment, so. Yeah, so you didn't have to sell your dream home to leave it behind. Thank goodness. Spooky story number five. I was about 13 and my niece was four and I was babysitting.
Starting point is 00:42:47 The front door had a bar type lock that goes into the frame. I make sure that's locked. We go downstairs to watch Princess Diaries and my dog will not stop barking at the stairs. I look over and I swear I see someone walk up the stairs but not like a solid human. At that time, my niece is also calling me, but I'm not. I can't look away. As soon as it goes all the way up, I pay attention to her, and she's asking for a drink. I assume I'm just seeing things, so we go upstairs, and the front door is unlocked and open,
Starting point is 00:43:16 but still flush with the frame. I panic, but I try to be calm for my knees. I'm trying to think what to do, and she's telling me, I saw shoes. I'm like, okay. Then she says, no, I saw socks. I'm like, okay. She goes, no, I saw skin. Then I really start panicking, and I call my neighbor, and we go over there.
Starting point is 00:43:33 The next day thinking about it, all she would see was legs of someone. I was also flipping through channels after and come across a ghost show that said if your dog is barking at presumably nothing, it could be a ghost. Dude, I've heard that before and I hate it. Same. They always say that like animals can sense things or see things. And I'm going to be so freaking honest with you. That's the only reason I think that like I haven't been scared in the last few previous places that I've lived. Because the dogs have never been alarmed by anything.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Because the dogs have never been alarmed by anything. Yep. And that's kind of like my, that's my meter. I'm like, do I need to panic? Because sometimes I'll get scared. And I've told you stories and I'm like, okay, I'm scared. But like, dude, I get scared all right. A lot of you still pass out.
Starting point is 00:44:15 Like, wolf snoring. I'm like, I'm watching the dogs. They are my like meter of is something going on. Yeah. But they're always chill. So. Yeah. So I think we're all sad.
Starting point is 00:44:27 We're good. But in this case, it sounds like the dog. was correct. So hopefully you didn't have to babysit again alone. Yeah. Oh, man. When you have to be the adult in like those situations, too. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:44:42 I told you last week made Britney sleep over because I was scared. Yeah. Gotta do what you got to do. Got to do what you got to do. But that concludes this week's episode. If you want to join us on the Patreon bonus content this week, we are talking about a true crime case from Michigan, a possible serial killer.
