Starting point is 00:00:00 hello and welcome back to the podcast if you are watching this you have officially started another year with just a little shady we're officially in 2026 and in the theme of that we decided let's not start this year talking about our goals let's not start this year doing all of our new year's resolutions because quite frankly um nobody wants to hear him we're a little guilty of that in the past and we're not doing that this time this time we decided let's turn it into a game that everybody watching and listening can play along with us it's going to be a new year's bingo game and we're going to talk about things that we have done in the past things we may be guilty of doing this year maybe things we did last year
Starting point is 00:00:45 things that quite frankly you may be guilty of saying or doing to start off this year and we're going to play a little bingo game out of it so if you think at any point you got a bingo mentally marked that off we're probably guilty of it too and I literally drew out our little bingo here to see if we get a bingo along with you guys so let's get into things that we are all very guilty of doing in the past and we might go on a tangent about one of them maybe we don't we'll see but starting with if you start this year saying this is going to be my year I'm personally, I don't know yet if I'm going to say that, but I have a feeling I may say that because we're all going to be together to celebrate the new year, probably having one too many
Starting point is 00:01:40 cocktails, and I just have a feeling that one of us may say it. I think if I had to make a prediction right now, just based off of group we're with plans that we have, that this is going to be like a staple, a staple. conversation that has had like it's going to be like we're going to be at dinner somebody's going to like ease into it and we're all going to hype each other up about it correct and so that for us we're marking off that square um next thing on the bingo card if you have bought a planner or intend to buy a planner and may be guilty of not using it ever yeah and i'm not marking this off on mine. I'm not marketing on mine because I really, really, really need to use a planner. I have a lot
Starting point is 00:02:32 that I like need to write a to do list for. Oh no, because I buy a planner every year, would I actually use it? And I have always done that literally year after year except for 2025, which like weirdly like had like really good year. Busiest year did the most like personally and like with work. Like work busiest year ever. But I just kept it all digital like with my to do list. I kept it week by week so different, I usually write it all out, which I enjoy doing, and I feel like my life's a little more together. So, goal is to buy the planar and use it, so I'm not marking it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Guilty, though. Guilty. Dry January. You've attempted. I've never attempted. I've never said that I was going to do that. Okay. Well, to be fair, we plan on going out of town for my birthday, and we're not going to be back at the
Starting point is 00:03:25 very beginning of. January so like and we're going out for New Year's Eve and all that yeah so like maybe after that I will do it I would be into let me you don't get to see what plans you have and then decide I'm saying dry January I'm marking that off on my bingo however it won't be like the first so I don't know I'm going to make it most I'm going to make three weeks of it then I'm going to be done By the 24th. Next place on the bingo card. No sugar.
Starting point is 00:04:01 I will never mark that off. No, I honestly, I really commend the people that are, like, able to do that because I think, like, they see such great results. Like, they feel so, like, energized and great about themselves. But, like, it honestly just seems, like, a big hassle to me. I'm just not. The sugars are so many things. Hey, I'm all about a Coke zero. All about it.
Starting point is 00:04:24 That means zero sugar. I don't think that's what people mean. No. It's not. I'm not marking this off on mine. No. Never had. It's not.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Yeah. Not about it. Exactly. Delete our food delivering apps. I'm not even going to pretend I would ever mark that off. No. I love food delivery apps. And I have been better about not using them as frequently.
Starting point is 00:04:53 It used to be me and Brian were a bad habit. every Sunday we would do that. That's not that bad of a habit. You are. I'm so guilty of it. I genuinely just, and I don't want to blame Elliot, but I'm going to
Starting point is 00:05:08 because since that, I've gotten so much. I will go through spurts, but I will try to cook. But then, like, if I lose the time for one week and it's just, I can't plan it out exactly, I just, that's it. The week is done. And I go straight to. to ordering food.
Starting point is 00:05:27 So takeout it is for me and I'm not going to pretend that I'm not going to do that in 20206. You know what? You're being real. So far. I can respect it. I'm in the clear.
Starting point is 00:05:37 No bingoes. The square gets marked if you have or planned to do a social media rebrand in 2026. Do you plan to rebrand? I don't think so. I don't really like
Starting point is 00:05:53 I don't, I don't, my, I think I'm just my brand. Yeah, you know what I mean? So, like, I don't exactly plan on changing much, especially, like, I guess if people follow me on different social media, I feel like they get a little bit of a different version of me just depending on what social media is, but I don't think that counts as a rebrand, so I don't plan on doing anything really that crazily different. I guess I'm a mom, so that changes things a little. That does, so maybe it is a little bit of a rebrand.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Maybe. Gosh, do I have to mark up the square? Yeah, and I think I might have to, too. Mom tent? Because I'm getting married. Oh my God, I thought you were going to say you had a zero mom too. Could you imagine if that was how I planned to tell you? I would be crazy.
Starting point is 00:06:39 No, you know what was one thing that I did think about doing on the podcast at one point, but just like wasn't actually going to work like logistically because we weren't filming at the time. was I was going to ask you to be my matron of honor on the podcast I had a whole plan and it was going to be in like the shady story portion like I was going to have like a fake shady story and then I was going to like start with like something and be like what is he reading? I guess if we weren't doing it.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Yeah, it just didn't make sense timing-wise and like I also have a maid of honor so I wanted to ask you both at the same time. But I like your idea. In theory it's a cool idea. That was the goal. In theory one day, if you, ever do become with child oh my gosh a shady story yep and you'll never know it's coming but maybe
Starting point is 00:07:27 once i start talking you be like oh my gosh i know where this is going well now because we read her yeah um okay so that one i guess i will mark on my bingo um if you have changed your instabio to start the new year or intend to i don't intend you to start the new year but i know my bio will change. It won't necessarily my bio will change, but like I'm getting a new last name and it's going to be there.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Oh. You know, I'm going to be a new. So you can mark yours up. I don't think I've changed mine in years. No, what is yours? I don't have a Twitter. I feel like that was your bio. And Twitter doesn't even exist anymore.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Please, I feel like that was mine for so long. Okay, if you have or intend to post a reset photo dump i don't know what that mean like is it like a let's say recap photo dump yeah i honestly plan to post one i think from yeah i will probably post one too so we can mark that off on ours i just feel like that really helps me personally to go back through like accomplishments things that have happened memories funny times because it forces me to go through my camera rule of the million photos that I take and I never look back on until the end of every
Starting point is 00:08:50 year. Yeah. No, I love actually too looking through people's photo dumps from the entirety of the year. Honestly, I still have like, I have so many photos that like I know I've taken and like have wanted to post and like haven't. Like I can even think of like one specific one from I feel like I keep talking about the fact that I'm married and got engaged but like, you're not married. I'm getting married. I'm getting married. Are you just dumping a bunch of secrets out of that? No, I'm not married yet. There's one picture from my engagement party that I know I've wanted to post, but even from like this month, I feel like I did so much. I was like, I just don't post all that often. It's, it's fine. It's fine. I love a dumb. We can count that one. If you have
Starting point is 00:09:38 Orinton to start journaling I actually I'm I think you should I'm gonna mark this out because I thought of a really cute idea for Elliot one day I was like I should just write down like moments and days and then one day he can like read
Starting point is 00:09:58 it all yeah of like things when he reaches miles like when he got his first teeth or like when he started crawling literally today just like those at a moment and like what I thought in the moment and all of that stuff. What was going on? Just like what was going on in our lives.
Starting point is 00:10:13 And then one day when he's older, he probably honestly won't appreciate it until he's like an adult. But still to give him one day. No, and that'll be cool for him to look back on. And the cool thing about like that, like where you're at with it, it's like I need a journal every day. But just like for those. Yeah, I think is, that's perfect.
Starting point is 00:10:35 So I'm marking that off. I'm pretty close to a bingo. I think um joining a gym I won't be doing that no I um I'm already a member of like technically you could say two gyms two and a half but are you gonna just like all of a sudden start going crazily again because it's the new year no not because it's the new year I started trying to go more consistently I would say like end of November December because I have a wedding to prepare for so I'm going to continue that
Starting point is 00:11:07 mentality. Unfortunately, that's going to be the main theme of everything. Shredding for the wedding. Shredding. I just want to feel good. I know. I'm joking. I already does that. No. I was like I should get socks that say because they like sell those. Shredding for the wedding. Okay, starting a wellness routine. And I'm talking like if you plan on like randomly just starting juicing because it's 2026. I didn't mean to just like make that face. But I'm going to go with no here. you not going to be guilty of this not marking this on my bingo and i think that's actually saving me right now from like yeah yeah go um if you intend to start cold plunging because it's the new year no i have no desire to do that dude same okay and i'm so glad you said that like what is going on
Starting point is 00:11:58 why is it a thing i don't know it's like i feel like people's new like avocados like you know when people like get really into something and like make it their whole personality you just think people got really into avocados and made it their whole place. Well, because it's like, I think about it like this. Like avocados is just, I feel like an example that I use often or like mustaches. Like things that in theory have been. Those are two totally different. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:12:22 But you'll understand maybe if I can explain it right. But like two like things that have essentially been around forever, mustache is or avocados. But like randomly, not recently, but this is like probably back in like, for mustaches, like in 2013, like, they randomly became like a thing, a thing, super popular, super trendy. And then I would say, like, probably, like, 2016 avocados had that moment where they were, like, on merchandise, like, everyone added avocados to, like, their menu.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Like, it became a trendy thing. I feel like that's kind of, like, cool. With the mustache is just so un-related. It's a wellness. And, like, like, the avocados were the wellness food of, like. It was a new thing that everybody, if you were healthy, was eating toast and that. Things that have been around for forever and you're like, why is this random? Like, Chipotle has been around like forever.
Starting point is 00:13:18 And I feel like like four or five years ago, like it hit its peak of like why is it. Yeah. And you know what else is going to have its moment? It's not on this bingo list, but meatloaf. Meatloaf is trendy, 2026. I'm calling it. All set. I know.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Okay. Then we left a free space on our bingo card. Oh. So we have to mark it off Yeah, mark it off Mentally mark it off If you are going to Buy supplements
Starting point is 00:13:45 Or already have just because it's the new year No You know what happens when I buy supplements Unfortunately I take them like one or twice And then they end up under my sink In my bathroom And then they sit there until they expire
Starting point is 00:14:01 And I have to throw them out Which is usually two years after they've expired I already have my set supplements and like that's it i'm not going to just you're not introducing randomly going to be like oh it's the new year got to just change everything like i'm not going to do that but i think we're good about that though i feel like if we looked back on like our past like new year's episodes you're like we've never been like i'm completely reinventing myself no but i will say if we actually did that i feel like my goals would be like the same thing which is like cooking at home more
Starting point is 00:14:33 And they'll like, you know what I mean? So we're not doing that. This is like an anti-New Year's Resolution. Yeah. Episode. Yeah. Are we randomly going to be waking up at 5 a.m.? Yep.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Yep. But that's because. You have a baby. I don't have the choice. I randomly, honestly, on a monthly basis, I try to become a morning person. And. Oh, you can come over and spend it with Ellie. I will.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Um, no, I want to get back to you, and I've probably said this on every New Year's episode, I used to go to work out at 5 a.m. every single day, Monday through Friday. And if I could ever get back to that, I lived a good life then. It's good. Allegedly, probably. No, okay, so here's the thing. Evan, I'm not going to pretend. Evan usually takes, like, this super early morning shift because I take the, like, overnight shift.
Starting point is 00:15:32 And yes, Elliot still wakes up in the night. And so I do that. I know, but I feel like that's like the first thing everybody always says to you when you have kids. It's like, oh, is he sleeping through the night yet? And it's like, no. But I don't mind doing like the overnight stuff. But then if I do that, I have a very difficult time getting up at 5 a.m. So usually Evan will like sleep through the night, then take the early shift and then we'll swap again.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Yeah. But, yeah, that's my, I just, the morning thing, sometimes I tell myself, I'm like, all right, I'm somehow going to also power through. Because I know so many moms, like, do, do both, like, but thankfully, like, Evan will do the morning thing. So, randomly I tell myself, I'm going to get up at 5 a.m. and do it, but then I don't. So, it's okay. It's temporary. Give yourself some more sleep. Okay. Are we going to have an identity crisis in 2026 to start the year?
Starting point is 00:16:37 No, not to start the year. But just in general, you think maybe? Yeah. I'm not going to mark that one off because I don't want to plan that, but it could happen. You never know. I'll have it, I'm sure. We're 30 now. Yeah, so it's not our fault.
Starting point is 00:16:50 What do they call that midlife crisis at this point? What? No, I think we've got it. We have a lot of you. Record our life. Record our life, if anything. Okay, we're not marking that off. So we're still, we're not being going in our head.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Okay, are we going to question life to begin 2026? I think so. Not right off the bat. I hope not. No, but like some. I'm trying to ease into the year. Okay. Let's hold off on that one.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Then we won't do that. We'll just save that for like February. It's so easy to do though when you, especially when you look back and you do like the recap stuff and just like question life. Yeah. You know what I mean? What is it all mean? We're not going to do that. Okay. Are we going to start reading?
Starting point is 00:17:33 Heck, yeah, I am. No. Every month I tell myself I'm going to read more this month. Actually, I fear your bingo has been bingoed. It has. I do a lot of this stuff. I have, um, I have like, one of like the reading devices. Kindle? Yeah, Kindle.
Starting point is 00:17:52 I was trying to think of the name of it. See, that's how bad it is. And I do, I used actually earlier this year and I say in like 2024, I was, I was, really good about reading and I was to a point where it's like before bed I was reading instead I'm going on TikTok and that's my goal basically every night when I go to bed and I think about it but then I don't actually pull the device out and I knew if I got back into it like I'm a very like creature of habit I would like it like every trip we go on it comes with me but does it ever come out of its case no but maybe this next trip that we are going on maybe I'll use it at some point
Starting point is 00:18:28 Probably not, but, yeah. No, I'm still going to be packed in my bag. We'll find out. Okay, we'll see. Thanks. I don't think you will. But I support you. I hope that you start reading if you want to.
Starting point is 00:18:42 I did think I was going to start reading because we actually said amongst our friends, like, months ago. So this isn't like a New Year's thing. This is just a thing in general. We said we were going to do a book club. And so I thought to myself, like, okay, kind of like back in school, like I never read voluntarily but like if I had to read something I would read it which surprises me this feels like one of those times where I was like okay maybe if I'm forced to do it for book club and I want to be included I will actually read and then we never followed through with it so I'm still hoping
Starting point is 00:19:14 that that happens no it's going to like I don't count that as like a new year's reading so I'm still in the clear but you're definitely being you have a bingo thank you bingo was that the goal no so next Are we going to, there's only two left, so. You haven't. You might hit it. Are we going to overcommit to things starting the year off? Yes. No, I don't want to.
Starting point is 00:19:38 I've literally, I feel like I already have. You already have? I have not. I'm like, first two months of the year. I have said this like multiple times in the last like 48 hours. Like, I don't want to be invited to anything. I got stuff I need to get done. So I'll just be at home, not overcommitting to.
Starting point is 00:19:58 things but like that's good i say that now and then like i say yes to everything that comes my way so well that's actually the last one on the list are you planning to say yes to something and immediately regret it to start the new year every time yeah i feel like that's i mean that's a given um but i definitely think we both got bingoes here we said probably a lot of listeners okay but to be fair like these are all the traditional things and in some capacity I feel like it's healthy to have a point to be able to like kind of in a way force your mind to feel like a reset and then you're just like it works for people to do that so if it works for you it works for you but I do feel like sometimes doing this every year it's almost puts like a negative strain yeah like you reflect negatively on your yourself if you don't do those things and like I just said every single year I feel like I say the same things and then I start the year off feeling negative about myself because I'm like I didn't do it last year so I'm just like I'm not going to do it this year and it's kind of like you get like self
Starting point is 00:21:10 conscious of yourself to start the year off so I feel like in a way like if it if you are actually somebody who like needs that spot to be able to like reset and like it actually works for you and when you set those goals you're like okay I know I can do it like this. locking in yeah but if it makes you start the year off like questioning yourself already like having a negative feeling about yourself because you look back and you're like I didn't do mine last year then that's when I'm like it's not worth it that's why I never put pressure on them because I'm just like I don't want to feel negative going like starting a year no no I don't either it's just another day it is it is and I feel like I'm the type of the person I'm the type of person
Starting point is 00:21:52 where, like, even with just, like, individual days, not years, but, like, I set out to have a plan and I'm going to do, like, ABC, D, EFG, but, like, it doesn't go according to plan, and then it's, like, 3 p.m. And I haven't accomplished any of that. Like, I take the day as a wash because I'm just, I don't know, like. Yeah, I get what you mean. Yeah. Mentally, it's like, you didn't check off something on your list and now you're just like, I don't care about the list at all. Yeah. And then, like, I'm on the couch and I'm like, well, I guess I'll try to get into tomorrow and then the next day I wake up with a headache and I'm like damn today was my day and I really was going to do all that stuff like it's a vicious cycle it is don't let it get you
Starting point is 00:22:31 down that's what I feel like this is kind of like our anti-resolution thing because it's like you see we've checked like everything off on this bingoist we're just as guilty we are we are but we just try to better headspace yeah I feel like it's not like no pressure around it is what makes it feel better and like don't let these make you feel negative it's just another day um but But with that, on the Patreon bonus content, we will be doing the same thing but some shadier squares, more emotional stuff, relationship stuff, social media stuff.
