Initially, police considered Andy a runaway, possibly seeking his biological father. However, his father had no information about Andy's whereabouts. The next day, a massive search operation. was launched involving police, volunteers, National Guardsmen, and Special Forces soldiers.

Despite extensive efforts, including searching nearby woods and dredging the Shashin River, no trace of Andy was found.
