Starting point is 00:00:00 Matt and I auditioned around the same time and then it was a really crazy time in the front because I got it and he didn't. They have like a year left and then it's like, okay, bye SNL, I'm like going on to do big movies. No! Do you think you'll stay for a while? Are you in part two?
Starting point is 00:00:15 I'm in part two. I'm in part two. Wait, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh my God, wait, I'm kind of gagged. There's one dance, there's one video of me and Ari doing, trying to do a TikTok dance and it just failed. Is it out there? I'm kind of, wow. This is a TikTok dance and it just failed miserably. Is it out there?
Starting point is 00:00:25 I'm kind of, wow. This is breaking news. Love it. This is a Just Trish podcast, where today is really just Trish. I'm just Trish by myself. No, joining me shortly will be the wonderful Bowen Yang. It's his one day off. We did SNL till 1 a.m. last night.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Then there was an after party till – I stayed till 5 a.m. Maybe people stayed later. Literally so booked and busy. And he is still making time to come to the podcast today to do a full recap of SNL, my SNL debut. Talk about Wicked. Talk about so many things. I instantly became besties with Bo Nguyen. I love him so much.
Starting point is 00:01:33 But before we get into that, thank you to the sponsors of today's video. Oriframes, DraftKings Casino, and Manscaped. I just did some excellent ad reads. Go ahead and skip 20 minutes, 40 minutes in if you guys really want to hear those ad reads because they're pretty amazing. I also, we have the Christmas hoodies in. The Trish live hoodies are now being sold online at justtrish.com. Just because it's like hard to physically bring all of them to the show in Thousand Oaks.
Starting point is 00:02:00 So if you want to wear your hoodie to the Thousand Oaks show, you can order now. My mom and sister are getting them out very quick. They ship the same day, if not the next day. So you can go to justtrish.com. We also have restock of our just everyday hoodies. We love them. I'm wearing the Trishmas hoodie now. And thank you guys, by the way, for all the love on Trishmas.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Tonight I will be at the Beacon Theater. Sold out. So I don't know if you can get tickets anymore, but I'm sure it'll be on TikTok, and I'm so excited. I am in New York, if you guys couldn't tell. I'm currently at the HeadGum Podcast Studios in New York. Shout out, HeadGum. It was a Sunday. I found out I was coming to New York on Thursday. Scrambled, scrambled. Shout out CAA for hooking this up too. I was like, I can't find no podcast studios responding to me. And we got HeadGum.
Starting point is 00:02:51 And it's great. And it's cute. And this feels like such a podcast set. So thank you so much for hosting us here. They have one in LA too, they were saying. So we love HeadGum. I love it. I had no idea they made studios like this where you can just come – like
Starting point is 00:03:07 literally anyone can come record a podcast. It's pretty cool. I don't know if anyone can come, but maybe they can. It sounds cool. I don't know. It's just cool that it's set up and ready. We have the three cameras. We have everything.
Starting point is 00:03:16 It's very exciting. And it does feel weird to not have a Moses and Oscar here today, especially with such a big and busy week and exciting week. There was just no way of me going home in between shows. The kids were originally supposed to come out with us too, and I was going to fly out with them. But I think all in all, they're just going to stay back for this week, do my show at the Beacon, have so much fun, and then head home to get ready for the Thousand Oaks show. So Trish Bersh Live has been absolutely crazy. We had our first show in San Diego on
Starting point is 00:03:53 December 5th at the San Diego Civic Theater. And that show, you know, we had about 75 to 80% capacity like the day before. The show happens to have the show and like, oh, you sold out. And I was like, there's no way. There is no way. Sold out show. You guys sold it out the day of. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Honestly, it was like so surreal. It was the highlight of my whole year. It felt so crazy because once again, I talked about this on stage too, but like doing a show where it's just me and my Christmas songs which aren't like super popular but people were so into it and also you know I'm not part of like this like bigger friend group at the moment right when I was on tour before I always had like someone that was in a big friend group where it's like you would think the shows would like sell out really big and it just didn't happen this is my most successful and biggest selling
Starting point is 00:04:43 shows and biggest capacity shows. And it's really just me. And I'm so thankful. And it was so emotional. And everybody there just, I don't know, the energy was insane. And I cannot wait for the show tonight in New York. Beacon Theater. Everyone keeps telling me, like, that's such a big deal.
Starting point is 00:05:01 It's like sold out. You know, like, and I don't know if I fully grasp it. And I don't know if I want to necessarily fully grasp it it's like doing Saturday Night Live last night which again we'll talk about when like Bowen gets here but I I don't know if I can fully grasp it because it's like I don't like I can't like fathom it around my head but I know I'm having a lot of fun doing these shows and doing that and just doing all these opportunities and tonight's show actually has a big announcement in it as well. So there will be another big announcement tonight. Which will either come out tonight or in the morning.
Starting point is 00:05:30 And I can't wait to talk about it on the next Hot Topics. So the next Hot Topics will be in L.A. This is not really a Hot Topics. This will be more of an interview today. But next week we'll do Hot Topics. They'll resume. We'll have a lot to catch up on, and recap, and talk about, but yeah, we're here, we're here in New York now, and it's been just such a wild ride, and I'm so thankful I was, we did the San Diego show, the day of the San Diego
Starting point is 00:06:02 show, I get the DM from Bowen that says he wrote a SNL sketch, like wrote me into an SNL sketch, which was like crazy. I like didn't believe it. And then I was like, oh my God, do I book a flight? Because I am in LA. And even if I left at the first flight, which I did was 7am, that means getting here at 3.30pm. There was rehearsals at 5pm. And there was so much traffic right now in the city, especially near 30 Rock. There's the big Rockefeller tree. It's closed off. Like streets are closed off. Like there's – I like TikTok some of it.
Starting point is 00:06:32 I'm like running through the streets. Like it's chaos. It's chaos in the city. I just – it's wild. I love New York. I've been feeling a calling to it and now it's like there's three big things happening in New York. SNL was a surprise.
Starting point is 00:06:46 It was last minute. I was already supposed to be here for Beacon and then the third will be announced tonight or tomorrow. And it's just – it is magical. It's wonderful. And I have been having the absolute time of my life. But I got the call and so I had to literally go straight from San Diego. I didn't have any clothes for New York. I still don't have any clothes. I have this one hoodie, this pink hoodie. And then I think I bought maybe 10 sweatshirts from like the NBC shop. I have all
Starting point is 00:07:16 those SNL hoodies now because I just needed some clean clothes. But I am getting stuff overnighted thanks to my mom and Moses. So I'll have my meet and greet dress. The dress I ended up wearing on SNL is a version of my meet and greet dress. I have four of these dresses made. So the gold one I wore in San Diego for the meet and greet. And then I have the green one planned for New York and I have the red one planned for Thousand Oaks. And the pink one was planned for my Hot Topics after all the shows. And it was actually designed after Ariana Grande's opening monologue on SNL. And I, again, had no idea I was going to be on SNL. And I just loved the dress so much.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Obviously, the designer does not make it at my size. So I just had something similar made just for the podcast because I loved it. I thought she looked so cute in it. And then when I got called within like 48 hours to be on Saturday Night Live, I had my sister, thank God she was in LA, overnight that dress. And then a designer here in New York, Gara Sparrow, who did my Wicked premiere dress, made the closing number in the pink sequins. And those are all the outfits I have.
Starting point is 00:08:16 So I found a stylist here that shopped for Skims underwear and leggings for me. So I had some clean clothes. But it's been quite the adventure. I love New York so much. It's such different energy. So much high energy. I waited in line at Liberty Bagels for 90 minutes. Because I thought it would be the experience.
Starting point is 00:08:38 This morning I postmated it. It took 20 minutes. It was the best thing ever. For some reason I waited in line for like an hour and a half. Because I thought it would be a great experience. It was not a great experience. The bagels are good. I reordered them again today. So I'm looking for any other recommendations. I saw Makeup Ariel eat at Lena's. I don't know. I need some good Italian food recommendations, but I'm only here. I leave tomorrow. So I'm only here for a short time. But New York,
Starting point is 00:09:04 you have been great. And you will know very soon that I will be back. But everything has been so surreal and so wonderful and I am so sad. This is the longest I've been away from my kids. So I'm sad that I can't get to like see them at night and, you know, see Moses. And, you know, he was – I was sad he couldn't be with me at SNL, but it was, he was, as soon as we got the call, there was not even a question. Cause we were, like I said, we were all in San Diego. Thank God my mom was with us too. We were all in San Diego and I was like, do I leave in the morning? Like it was so, it seemed so chaotic because we had,
Starting point is 00:09:41 we had a plan in motion and everything like that. But but like it wasn't even a question for him for me I was more questioning I was like okay well I have responsibilities and I have my kids and I need to make sure that they get home safely and again thank God for my mom and and Moses and actually my dad was down there too so everyone kind of like rallied together to get them home safely and then we kind of debated on if they were going to fly out. I think the day, that Saturday, Malibu had a little bit of a stomach bug. And Moses didn't even say anything to me the day I was on it live. He told me this morning, he's like, yeah, she kind of had a little stomach bug. I don't know if it's like, if we should come out. We were already kind of worried, you know, they haven't traveled on a plane. I was actually really sad as well that I was going to miss their
Starting point is 00:10:21 first flight because it just looks so special. And I see little kids all the time. They get to board early, get to go up in like the cockpit and stuff like that with the pilot. And I was really, really bummed I was going to miss their first flight. So we were able to get credit. Can I tell you something? A little rant about airlines. Kind of, I guess it's not a scam. I guess it's not a scam because they do ask if you
Starting point is 00:10:45 would like to purchase like insurance on your trip and I never do because I was like we're going to the show like there's not even a question but I I booked we had we booked all these tickets I booked like a really fancy hotel because I wanted to make this like a great vacation and the airlines they just they're just so difficult. Like you can't change. Like I was going to change my seat under the name of my makeup artist because she was going to help them all come out. But they won't let you change the name.
Starting point is 00:11:13 You know, I guess I get it for like security reasons. The flight was completely booked. But silver lining is it's 24 hours to their flight. I was able to cancel and get credit. So like I said, I have a feeling we'll be back in New York very soon, all of us as a family. And I'm excited that I'll get to be there for their first flight and also just help because obviously we have to hold baby Elvis, who's an infant. And then Malibu will be a first time flying. Moses sent me a video when they got home from San Diego and it was like Malibu looking at the sky. I was like, mommy, airplane. I want to
Starting point is 00:11:43 go on an airplane and see mommy. And it was so, it was just like the sweetest thing in the whole world. And she – even when they got in the car, she's like, where's mommy? I was like, oh, making sure mommy doesn't get left behind. It just like broke my heart. But it was – like I said, it was Saturday Night Live. I couldn't say no. Wouldn't say no. Would do it all again and fly back out.
Starting point is 00:12:04 It was really great. And Moses, of course, was like such a big supporter. And we were texting throughout the whole day. He was watching at home with Malibu. They were eating frozen pizza watching. And it was so surreal because we do watch Saturday Night Live. We always watch it on Sunday. We always watch it the next day because we go to bed so early.
Starting point is 00:12:20 How I stayed up till 1 a.m. was crazy. The adrenaline just like kicked in and it was wild. But we always watch it on a Sunday night before Hot Topics. I just, I love it. We've been talking about it. You guys know I've been talking about the podcast for so long. So it was just such a surreal moment. And then like you're in your show and I, you know, I haven't, I've slept two hours
Starting point is 00:12:38 today, truly. I got in at five and then I had to, I slept for still about eight o'clock, so I guess three hours. And then I had glam at nine because the wonderful New York glam team, they were booked and busy. So they're like, we can get there kind of early. And I was like, all right, let's do it. So yeah, I will get to rest before the show. I have a full day in between.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Like by the time you see this, it will be the show performance. But it's the biggest one. New York, you sold it out in 25 minutes. So I can't even imagine. We have a lot of guests on the list and a lot of new guests coming. And I know it's going to be absolutely chaotic. So I'll have a good 24 hours to rest in between and I will be good. And I get pumped for my own shows. I love it. And just the overall energy and vibes are wonderful. I guess the moral of this is, you know, get that insurance on those airline tickets. That's kind of a scam too because you pay like $100 and then you might not cancel.
Starting point is 00:13:31 But I don't know. At least they gave me credits. We have up into six months on American Airlines. Trying the best. All right, you guys. Well, coming up, we have Mr. SNL himself. The reason I was on it, just my absolute crush. I just love him in every single way.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Just the it boy, the star in my eyes. The minute I saw him, I was like, oh, we connected instantly. I cannot wait for him to come and join the conversation. And just, you'll see how wonderful he is, how deep he is, how beautiful he is. Coming up next, we have guest, friend of the podcast, and now my new bestie, Bowen. Yay. Bowen's here! Long time no see. We literally just saw each
Starting point is 00:14:12 other, what, like four hours ago? Yeah. Literally. At the after party at SNL. Yes. You were the belle of the ball. Oh my gosh. Do you feel that way? You know what? I felt very loved. That was the most hype I've ever gotten in my entire life. It was very odd and very surreal. Ever? Well, I guess it That was the most hype I've ever gotten in my entire life. It was very odd and very surreal. Ever?
Starting point is 00:14:26 Well, I guess it's, like, the most – It's spatially. It's, like, the most people in one room who are there to, like, celebrate something else, which is the occasion is, like, oh, it's the SNL after party. We just did a show. But then, like, I think people were just gagged that you were there. Like, everybody from, like, the guests who came in the audience who, like, ended up at the party to, like, the staff at the show. It like ended up at the party to like the staff at
Starting point is 00:14:45 the show it's crazy where they were just like so i had people thank me they were like thank you for bringing trish and i was like first of all my honor of my life and also was asha ward's idea because we'd written the sketch uh called spotify wrapped and then there was a podcast beat in there and then after it got picked we were like, this is the perfect opportunity to bring Trish in. Because you've been talking about it on the show and, like, we listen. Oh, my God. That's so crazy. And do you feel like you're manifesting, like, all the goodness in your life?
Starting point is 00:15:13 Yes. I was, like, so negative and pessimistic, like, the majority of my life. Like, I always was like, I'm a loser. I suck. I have no talent. I'm fat. I'm ugly. Like, all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And, like, the minute I started, like, changing and being like, I could do that. I could do this. And start talking and, like like speaking positively about myself and other things it really did like change my whole life like it is crazy well because like if if we find ourselves in like this feedback loop or like you know where we say something like to get a reaction out of some people and that gets rewarded in some capacity then like we're only our minds are not developed enough as human beings to like not keep doing that and so we just keep doing that and then you get in this
Starting point is 00:15:49 holding pattern and then all it takes is just one thing to like get you out of the story we're getting so deep already i love that about you though i feel like i was so nervous when we first met like i didn't want to like ruin anything anything up i didn't want to be in anyone's space or anyone's way because like it's such an intense show and i'm like okay i'm literally here for like a three second like cameo i don't want to be in anyone's space or anyone's way because like it's such an intense show and I'm like okay I'm literally here for like a three second like cameo. I don't want to be in this in the way. So I was like very much like trying not to be in your space or be over much but the minute we started talking about like
Starting point is 00:16:11 meditation and I was like wait what and you said you watched like Soul Boom like all this crazy stuff and I was like wait I wouldn't think that about you because you're just like so funny and like goofy and like you never talk about like being like being with your thoughts and like yeah i guess i don't you're right yeah i'd never get that from you really
Starting point is 00:16:29 as we watch and it's like you're just a fun silly goofy time no i like some i feel like the sad sack on the show like matt is the light and he's the the he's the truth the way the light and i'm like yeah anyway i'm tired and like my whole story is that I'm just tired, which is so boring. Like, saying you're tired is the least interesting thing you can contribute to a conversation, no matter what the reason is. Like, everyone has a reason to be tired. Life is hard. But, like, I've realized that any time I bring up the fact that I'm tired, everyone kind of shuts down. And then I shut down.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It's like, it's this whole thing. I think that's a very interesting, especially with your schedule. We've talked about it so many times, like, this week. Because I'm so, I don't think, and maybe you're, like with your schedule. We've talked about it so many times like this week because I'm so I don't think and maybe you're like tired of talking about this, but I feel like people don't understand the schedule of SNL, the pressure of it. I was feeling pressure and I'm like in there for three seconds. I was just like, I can't imagine being a writer and feeling like pressure.
Starting point is 00:17:18 It's everything. Yes. But even today, you being here, like I should just preface also by saying i was like i i wanted you on the podcast i visualized it but i was never gonna ask because once again so busy and i like you're one day off i'm not gonna be like come to the podcast but you did ask like are you doing a podcast while you're here i'm like yeah would you like to come it was such a quick yes that was crazy and the fact that you're here i really appreciate it like beyond words like one obviously
Starting point is 00:17:45 DMing me to get me we should kind of say that too yes okay so I get a DM we followed each other we followed each other for a while and then Harry Daniel connected us and that was so kismeting to me
Starting point is 00:17:57 because I love him I love you I love Harry and he set us up he linked us up on DMs and then whatever. I was just like, oh, my God, Trish. Like, I love you.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Like, I have followed you since the beginning, which for me was you and Gigi Gorgeous doing videos where you guys were being so funny. You guys were literally doing sketches. Yeah. That was, like, 2012. That's, like, 15 years ago. But it's, like, can I say, like, of that ilk, I was like, oh, but the difference with Trish, personally, and I don't know the full landscape, but I'm like, Trish is like hilarious. Wow.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Just like a comedic genius. Crazy. Never heard that. I really have not heard that. Are you serious? Yeah. Like, I feel like people are like, oh, Trish is funny, but like, I can't intentionally be.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Could never do. Did you do stand up? I never did stand up. I, but I can't intentionally be. Could never do. Did you do stand-up? I never did stand-up. I tried. I was bad at it. I couldn't put in the hours of open mics and all that stuff. That's surprising because I feel like everyone on SNL I thought was stand-up. I thought it started.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Well, no. The nice thing about this current time of SNL is everyone's from a different background. You've got TikTok comedians, or you've got sketch comedians from the Groundlings, or you've got body horror comedians like Sarah, or you've got- Body whatians from the Groundlings or you've got like body horror comedians like Sarah or you've got like. Body what? She does body horror stuff. Body horror?
Starting point is 00:19:10 She does like, she just like, you know, she loves doing practical effects where like p*** comes out of a vagina that she makes out of paper mache or something. Oh, that was like her. Is that like squirting? It's squirting. She loves to squirt. I was like, wow.
Starting point is 00:19:23 Don't we all love to squirt? And then, but anyway so no like everyone comes from a different background I love that that's what SNL is right now it's like you got queer meetings you got like really like bro-y for lack of a better word like you know stand-ups and like it's from the whole it runs the gamut um but I feel like you like you you can't discount like that era of social media and of like and of let's just say like of that era of social media and of let's just say, that era of YouTube specifically is so important to the current media landscape
Starting point is 00:19:54 of comedy. It's a huge part of it. I hope you know that. Thank you to the sponsor of today's episode, Aura Frames. Isn't it funny how the people we love most are often the hardest to shop for? Luckily, there's one gift that everyone on your list is sure to enjoy. An Aura digital photo frame.
Starting point is 00:20:12 You guys, I love Aura Frames. I'm so happy they're sponsoring. We've talked about this before. We've had Aura Frames in our house for years. My husband actually gifted me Aura Frames when my first daughter was born because we had so many photos. And he's like, we don't have enough wall space to put all the prints.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Aura frames are digital photos that can change and be updated often and easily. I love them so much. I'm surprising him this year with more aura frames and I know he's gonna love them because they come in different sizes and shapes and we want them all over our walls. It's just really cool.
Starting point is 00:20:42 It also gives like a Harry Potter feel with the ever-changing photos. And while I'm here in New York and he's just really cool. It also gives like a Harry Potter feel with the ever-changing photos. And while I'm here in New York and he's in LA, I can actually update the frames that we already have with photos here so you can see what I'm doing here as well. It's super fun. Named number one by Wirecutter,
Starting point is 00:20:55 Aura Frames make it incredibly easy to share unlimited photos and videos directly from your phone to the frame. And when you give an Aura Frame as a gift, you can personalize and preload it with a thoughtful message and photos using the Aura app app making it an ideal present for the long distance loved ones and right now we are long distance this is the furthest i've ever been away the most i've ever been away from moses and my kids so i love sending updates through photos and it's great i'm gonna

Starting point is 00:21:41 I don't, and I think a lot of people on social media don't, because being recognized by mainstream is wild. I don't and I think a lot of people on social media don't because being recognized by like mainstream like is wild. I don't think like I don't think any social media person has like been on YouTube like I know you guys mentioned like Logan Paul and you mentioned Nara Smith but I'm like has anyone been on because it's like you just don't get recognized like that you know what I mean. So that's why when you
Starting point is 00:21:58 say that it's like shocking to hear because I don't think anyone else looks at social media people as like wow they're comedic geniuses over there you know what I mean? Literally. But that's why people were buzzing at the show, like people who worked at the show, like all the writers who came up to you,
Starting point is 00:22:12 like all the cast that came up to you. Like Chloe Fineman was freaking out. Sarah was freaking out. We were all like, Trish is like a fucking legend. And the way I pitched it to Lauren, I had to run the cameo of you by Lauren, and I was like, so she's this like, and the way I pitched it to Lauren, I had to like run the cameo of you by Lauren. And I was like, so she's this like, modern day like Warholian figure. Like she like has like lived like a thousand lives. She's been through every kind of modern day experience of fame where people love her.
Starting point is 00:22:41 People all of a sudden will flip on her. People like don't believe what she says, people believe what she says. It's like you have experienced the full spectrum. And, like, you show – I think you show people – you show me that, like, people can grow and change. And, like, it's so amazing, Trish. That's, like, the nicest thing to hear because I – yeah, my past has been, like, crazy. But I really have, like, worked on myself.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And I'm, like – I feel like over time it just shows it's only been like you know it's been a few years but I feel like over time it just shows you know like people should change and grow and just but also like I don't know like the soul boom episode was amazing like I really that's what we talked about like the meditation stuff and then why do you watch I got a lot of hate so I was like surprised you said that cuz a lot of people were like yeah I thought it was actually fine but a lot of people yeah we're like thought he was maybe more like making fun I didn't feel that in the moment that he was like I
Starting point is 00:23:28 didn't feel like he was making fun of you. Yeah I think it's like he has a very he's older so his like sense of humor is like very different and stuff like that but yeah and to me I like loved it cuz again mainstream to me he's like such a mainstream star you know what I mean but like you too um well thanks for hyping me up but back to you so you so you started on SNL 2017 as a writer. How did you get that job if you didn't do stand up? I was doing like improv and sketch in college in New York. And I stayed here.
Starting point is 00:23:56 And like I just had a bunch. I had like a group of people that I was like friends with. And I didn't have to like find people necessarily. I skipped that part which I'm really lucky um about because I just had people to like do stuff with and then uh I had a friend Sudi Green she got hired at SNL as a writer when we were like all 23 and she was like the first person to get like raptured up into the spaceship. We were like, Oh my God, like one of us made it, you know?
Starting point is 00:24:25 And then, uh, she like cut her teeth and then Matt and I auditioned around the same time. And then it was a really crazy time in the French because I got it and he didn't. Then I got hired as a writer first and that was 2018, 2018, 2019.
Starting point is 00:24:42 I was a writer. And then 2019 I got put on the cast and so it's that that's been the thing but it was it was just improv and sketch and I was trying stand-up I was like also just doing a bunch of shows and in Brooklyn I was like putting up stuff and bringing other like queer friends into it and having fun with it and then it just kind of like and then people kind of all started to there's there was some like developmental thing where everyone started to like get something and that was very fun and and
Starting point is 00:25:13 now hopefully it's settled into into something I don't know it's amazing like that's so long cuz like well I guess like Keenan's been on for a long time I'm like yeah like the span of like SNL we were talking about this when people get big movies, like, Year and Wicked. Like, it's kind of almost like they have, like, a year left. And then it's, like, okay, bye, SNL. I'm, like, going on to do big movies. No. Do you think you'll stay for a while?
Starting point is 00:25:33 I think so. Because, like, I went to the Wicked stuff. Oh, my God. We need to talk about your L.A. premiere. Because I was so sad I couldn't go to that. But, like, you looked amazing at the L.A. premiere, by the way. By the way, I've also never been invited to a premiere my entire life so it's crazy wicked being the first again another one that just like email me universal pictures like do you want to
Starting point is 00:25:51 come i got to see an early screening in october and then that's that was you at the separate repeat holding the broom right yes you look so good i love it i think you repost i think that was like the first thing you posted we were talking about repost and i was like so excited i was like oh my god boning i was like look trish is like at oh my god, Bowen Yang is reposted. I was like, look, Trish saw Wicked. This is huge. And my first review of it was literally, obviously, all the stars are amazing. But I was like, wait, but Bowen's fanny and your lines? Because are they all improv, I would assume?
Starting point is 00:26:17 They were mostly, yeah. They were mostly thrown in there. The stuff you say off the cuff, which was great at the private screening, because there's only 20 people, so you could hear the lines. The premiere, everyone's just applauding and laughing. And it's like, you can great at the private screening because there's only 20 people, so you could hear the lines. The premiere, everyone's just like applauding and laughing. And it's like, you can't hear the lines as much. But hearing all your lines, I was like, wait. It was the funniest part of the whole movie to me.
Starting point is 00:26:31 And I'm not just saying that because you're here. I said it on my podcast, too. I was like, wait. It was so funny. I was so gagged. That's so sweet. Let's talk about Wicked. We'll come back to SNL.
Starting point is 00:26:40 We like literally jumped so much because I wanted. No, let's jump. Let's jump. I love jumping. Wicked. Probably the biggest fangirl. No, let's jump. Let's jump. I love jumping. Wicked. Wicked. Probably the biggest fangirl. Were you a fan of Wicked?
Starting point is 00:26:49 Yeah. Okay, so you were. A total fan. You're a theater kid. Well, we talked about this. So the thing that Trish and I are relating on is that we are total musical theater people. But also, like, I don't quite have this specific, like, encyclopedic knowledge that a lot of my friends do. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:06 I feel like you relate to this, right? Yeah. I like the very mainstream. Yes. Like, if you ask me my favorite, I'm going to say, like, Phantom. You know, I'm going to say, like, the big ones. Uh-huh. Wicked.
Starting point is 00:27:14 I'm trying to get more, like, niche stuff now. But it's also – there's a lot out there, and it's all great stuff, and it's hard to keep up with it because so much of it is good. It's so good. Did you do musical theater? You said you grew up in Colorado. Yeah. I grew up in Colorado. Did you do musical theater? You said you grew up in Colorado. Yeah, I grew up in Colorado. Did you do musical theater?
Starting point is 00:27:25 Yeah, in high school. And I had, God, it was like such an oppressive thing because like the musical theater at our high school was run by the dance teacher. So she would, the dance teacher was this woman who would come in and she was very like such a hard and she delivered, like she put on great shows and all I wanted to do was be in them.
Starting point is 00:27:47 And I just had no idea, like, what it meant. And so, like, my freshman year, I didn't understand, like, the seniority of it all. And on the audition form, I was just like, I will not accept. Like, there's a box that says, check the box. Check the things that you will not accept. Yeah. Like, check the roles that you don't want to do. And then I just went down the column. I was like, I don't want to do the understudy roles.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Oh. But I didn't realize that that was, like, what you weren't want to do and then I just went down the column I was like I don't want to do the understudy roles oh I didn't realize that that was like what you weren't supposed to do I was just like I would love to be the jester in Once Upon a Mattress yeah that was the show my freshman year and so I just checked the boxes of like I don't want to be the understudy for the jester I want to be the jester I didn't understand I had zero clue it's my first like foray into anything performance related and then I was just like I don't want to be the understudy and I didn't realize that's like the most crazy thing you could possibly do I actually don't know I've never actually been casted in a play so I don't know I love it but is it crazy because I would think that's like just saying what you want
Starting point is 00:28:33 I would like to be the jester not the understudy right and then like I don't know if it's crazy yeah I got like a talking to oh mind you I'm like 13 years old like this is the thing with some teachers i don't know how you feel about this trish but like some teachers we love them yeah we love teachers so
Starting point is 00:28:51 much some of these people really have no business talking to young children this way what did she say to you she was just like so um like the way she confronted people was like this. And I'm like, just give me a straight tone, you f***ing loser. At 13. At 13, I'm like, why are you talking to me like that? Really? That's my biggest pet peeve now. It's like, there's a real housewife on Salt Lake City right now who confronts people like this.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Oh, triggered. It's such a visceral trigger. I'm like, f***. I think of that teacher. What's the housewife's name? I don't watch Housewives. What's her name? Her name is Bronwyn.
Starting point is 00:29:28 And Bronwyn Newport. And she's cool. She's lovely. I just, and she has potential and she's going the distance and she's here to stay and she's great. But I just, one thing I have to get over is just like this thing of like, it just reminds me of a specific traumatic person. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:44 It is a literal trauma like i like i know people throw that word around but like i think that counts as like a trauma i think so no you were like triggered by like the voice outside and you're like and this person too so i feel like that exactly so and then she and i had this this teacher and i had this whole saga throughout high school and so like that kind of soured me a bit but then like i just remember going to the library and renting out the cd Wicked. Wow. And I was flipping through the booklet. Did you have the CD? I did not have the CD, no.
Starting point is 00:30:10 There was the booklet in there where it was just pictures, like printed pictures of like Idina and Kristen and like Norbert and everybody on the original cast. And I was like, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen. So like in high school. Yeah. I was late to the bandwagon. I was like an adult.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I mean, I came out in 2003, but I was like obviously like a little older. Okay, yeah. What's your discovery with it? It was in New York and I, gosh, who did I see? It was May Hilty, actually, who was in Smash. Yes. God. So good.
Starting point is 00:30:38 You didn't see Death Becomes Her while you were in town, by the way. Yes. I think we're supposed to go on Wednesday. Yes. Have you seen it? I haven't, but I hear it's amazing. I love her. And I love Smash. That was like my favorite show of all time. So good. But yeah I saw her in it
Starting point is 00:30:50 and I just yeah I like fell in love. And I saw the tour at the Pantages too. And just fell in love with it. Obviously like you just you look at it and you're just like I want to do that. I want to be that on stage. You know. Yeah of course. Did you who did you see yourself playing when you would first see it? I mean, I – so the first thing I heard about Wicked at school before I even got the CD at the library was all the kids were like, I mean, Popular is just the best song ever written.
Starting point is 00:31:20 And I was like, really? And this is before the days where you could, like, pull something up on your phone, right? Right. And so I'm, like, gid? And this is before the days where you could like pull something up on your phone, right? And so I'm like giddy with the anticipation about this song. I'm like, well apparently this is the greatest song ever committed to written record or
Starting point is 00:31:34 whatever. And so I was just like, I just remember playing it. I was just like, this better be good. And if this isn't good, then I don't know what I'm going to do. And I quit. I quit. And then I played it. It was the first thing I ever, I didn't start with No One Wants to Be Good. I started straight on like what? It was like track six or seven.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Same. Yeah. Yeah. And I was like. Straight to popular. Straight to popular. Yeah. And I was like, holy.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And I was like, wait, Kristen Chenoweth. How do I know that name? I was watching her one season long sitcom on NBC in 1999. What was that? It was called Kristen. What? I had no idea and I love her. No, you need to watch this.
Starting point is 00:32:10 It lasted only like 10 episodes and I was heartbroken when it got canceled because I was like, something about this little lady with the squeaky voice, the high pitched voice, and she's so funny. So iconic. It was like her working in a,
Starting point is 00:32:21 she just moved to the city, she worked at a magazine or something. It was so like, very much like a late 90s, early 2000s sitcom premise. Like in front of an audience. In front of an audience. I'm surprised I never seen it. I know.
Starting point is 00:32:35 No one knows about it except like me and her. I like literally – I met her at the New York screening. Or no, I met her at a screening where they played Wicked for all the former Elphabas and Glindas and all the former – You were there? I was thereindas and all the former cast. I was there and that was the coolest thing. I got to meet Norbert, Leo Butts, I got to meet Kristen,
Starting point is 00:32:51 I got to meet like everybody. I love that you shout him out. He's kind of underrated. As far as like everyone of course talks about Kristen and Idina, of course they're like the stars but I do love him.
Starting point is 00:33:00 I do love him. His voice is butter. Such butter. So good. So good. Those white pants, I do wish Fiyero had white pants in the movie. I know.
Starting point is 00:33:07 You know, that was a little... He's got some good outfits in part two. Just you wait. Wait, have you seen it? Yeah. Oh, I haven't seen the cut, but I just being on set, I was like, Johnny looks good. Wait. Oh my gosh. I'm so excited. Wait, are you in part two? I'm in part two.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I'm in part two. Wait, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait, I'm kind of gagged. It's like, you know, like Glinda needs her people around her when she's the good witch. Yeah, and so like Fanny and Junjun are there. In the stage production, are they? They're not really in the stage production, but they're, you know, I don't know. They just like really blew us out. I just have to address, I totally get it for everyone out there who's like,
Starting point is 00:33:43 why the f*** are these two people in the movie so much? I totally get it. Wait, no one says that. Who says that? Oh, I'm getting like, I'm getting all sides. It's like, you get this. It's like you get, it's like something happens. People, there are eyes on it.
Starting point is 00:33:55 People are going to come at you with all kinds of opinions about it. Right. And like, you just have, that's part of it. You just have to like. I have not heard one negative thing about Shenshen and Fanny. Like, that's crazy. No, I mean, it just depends on where you are in the arrangement but like i'm in that i'm in that that's my those are my coordinates and then people are coming at me with like um oh my god you're so
Starting point is 00:34:14 funny god bless and also oh my god it makes no sense that you're in this movie i'm like god bless you know what i mean oh i see yeah you just got like that general haters that i mean totally yeah it's not even general haters it's people who who are like, love you, but what? I'm like, yeah, totally. Wait, really? That is the most wild thing. Those characters getting hate is wild, actually. But I also get it.
Starting point is 00:34:33 It's like, they're supposed to be annoying. Yeah, totally. They're supposed to be hateful, and they're bullies. And so, like, I get why people are, like, put off. And I'm just saying, like, that's not who I am. Well, yes. You're an actor. That is so crazy. Oh, my God. So you're in, oh, saying like that's not who I am. Well, yes. You are an actor. That is so crazy.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Oh, my God. So you're in – oh, my God. You're in part two. So, yeah, part two. I can't wait for that. I mean the part one is just like, oh, my God, the most amazing thing ever. It's like wild. Everything about it.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I mean like I feel like I have an objective enough distance from it to be like this is the best movie I've ever seen. I think anybody anybody everybody says that i'm like i'm like not i'm like in it just enough to be able to say as an outsider this is the best movie ever yeah i think everyone agrees you know yes i need to ask about fanny's glasses okay who did those who created those um that was paul taswell and there was um uh the guy who costumed everything and he also was working with like um a glasses maker whatever you call them Who did those? Who created those? That was Paul Tazewell. And there was the guy who costume designed everything. And he also was working with like a glasses maker, whatever you call them. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:35:29 I have no idea. A glasses maker. And so, a little wishbone clit thing going. A love. Did you keep them? No, I didn't keep them. Well, you know what? The glasses and I had a love-hate relationship by the end.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Oh, you didn't love? Because they were so heavy. Oh. Like pure brass. like really and like they would have to spray i would get a fades i would come in with a fade sometimes because i was flying in and out and they couldn't regulate like the haircuts i was getting in new york because i was shot in london but i was i was i was the only one flying in in and out it was me and michelle yo because she was shooting other stuff and she was doing her literal oscars campaign and i was working
Starting point is 00:36:04 at snl and so we were the everyone else was living in london because she was shooting other stuff and she was doing her literal Oscars campaign and I was working at SNL. And so we were the – everyone else was living in London and she and I were the only people flying in. I thought it was like your hiatus, like summer. It went into the summer. No, we started shooting – we started rehearsing Thanksgiving of 2022. Oh my gosh. And then that went all the way into July of 2023. And then the strike happened.
Starting point is 00:36:21 And then we – the only time we could all get back together – the in like september october and then the only or whatever and then the only time the earliest we could all get back together was january of 2024 of this year so we wrapped literally this year wait what yeah yeah how did they edit it so quickly oh you like oh so part two you're like filming this year part two we filmed it's all in the can. No, they were editing. So during the strike they could edit. I see. While we were struck, while we were stalled. Wow.
Starting point is 00:36:53 So it just all came together in such a weird staggered way. But then, what was my point? You were talking about flying back and forth. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, the glasses. And so they had to like spray my hair and like the brass would stain. Anyway, I just. Oh, so you're like, I'm going to i like bless this the only thing i kept from set was um my shiz pin oh my god do you wear it
Starting point is 00:37:11 i don't wear it but it's in it's in my it's in my it's in my bedroom it's like in my little tray just looking at it i look at it i'm like oh oh my god be careful if you ever have hookups come over they always stole my wait no what would they steal my god, literally I'd have all these cute little things like I had a little, I love Donny Osmond, so I had this little Donny Osmond meet and greet pass and they would steal that and I was like, how is that of value to you? So that's why I'm saying be careful. And it would be on by my bed. It was like a little tray
Starting point is 00:37:35 and they would always steal the little shit. I had little candies they would steal. No. Yeah, it was crazy. Does Moses steal stuff? No. He doesn't. But you know, sometimes people would leave stuff there too. Sometimes people, not a prostitute, but? No. He doesn't. But you know sometimes people would leave stuff there too. Sometimes like people not a prostitute but so weird. I won't say who but I had someone who was on
Starting point is 00:37:51 SNL one time come over and leave me an American Express gift card for $50 after a hookup. And this is a very old old person from like the 90s. Sure sure sure. But you were like oh this wasn't like this wasn't I was turning you. Yeah no it was very wild. We just met on Tinder. I was like damn okay. But he's like this is for this wasn't, like, this wasn't, I was turning you. Yeah, no, it was very wild.
Starting point is 00:38:07 We just met on Tinder. I was like, damn, okay. But he's like, this is for you. I was like, all right, thanks for the gift card for $50. Oh, my God. That's crazy. But anyways, the point is, is, like, that's so valuable that someone might, like, take it. I know. But if someone took it, I'd be like, all right, enjoy.
Starting point is 00:38:19 They needed it. A little piece from that movie. No, but that's so iconic because it's like, oh, my God. I can't wait. Oh, my God. I can't wait for part two. What was your favorite scene to film? Oh, my God. My favorite scene to film was.

Like I think it was the first things we shot as a group was the Dr. Dillaman scenes where he's like giving the lecture and so that was the first time like we were all together and because i think they started with popular that was the first thing they shot for the entire
Starting point is 00:39:49 thing was popular wow and then we all got together for yeah those scenes and it felt like going to school again it really felt like i don't know we were all getting to know each other and we were doing bits and like it was just so natural with like me and also named Bronwyn. Shunchan's name is Bronwyn James. She's an amazing actor. And then Ethan and Ari and Cynthia and like Marissa, everybody. And then Johnny was there. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:40:17 So fun. Like that was the, I don't know. And then we were just like trying. And that was when I figured out like, oh, John M. Chu, the director, just wants me to, like, go off the cuff and do bits in ad lib. And sure, I'll give it to you. I didn't think he would use any of it. He used all of it. There's so many lines.
Starting point is 00:40:33 He used all of it. And I'm like, damn. I got to, like, that's permanent now. And that feels crazy to me. I'm like, you're going to use my stupid ad libs in this gigantic movie? They were the most iconic part. I keep telling you, like, it's the most iconic. I mean, that's why you were hired.
Starting point is 00:40:49 You're so smart and so fun. And, like, that actually is amazing. I figured they were ad lib, but I was like, they're so good and you're so cute in it. I, you dance and sing. Somehow. So good. And were you singing live, too? Because everyone was singing live.
Starting point is 00:41:05 We didn't sing live just for what is this feeling. And there's something in part two that may or may not make it to the end, to the vinyl cut. But there's a quick little solo in part two. But then in what is this feeling? Yeah, there was a whole thing with Stephen Schwartz. We went into the studio. He gave us notes. He was very particular.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I was like, damn, this is like, it was a whole, like, thing with Stephen Schwartz. Like, we went into the studio. He gave us – he was, like, very particular. I was like, damn, this is, like – it's, like, no small parts. I love that idea of, like, it doesn't matter that these – that you can barely hear these people in the mix. Like, we need to get this right. All the voices. I see it all over TikTok. A lot of the ensemble singers will show themselves in the booth, like, recording all the, like, vocals and stuff.
Starting point is 00:41:41 It's so cool to see. Yeah, I should have recorded that. Damn, this is the thing that I need. You didn't? I need to learn this from you and from other people. Like, I can't wait for you to, like, post all the things that you documented from SNL. So many clips. I have a thousand clips from yesterday, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Are you going to cut it together? Yeah, yeah. I'm going to cut. I'm going to do a little voiceover. I have some of us, like, talking. Yeah, I love it. But if I was on Wicket, I would 100% be recording every little thing. No, I was too scared to.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Wait, why were you, like, nervous or just, like, didn't want to? I just didn't. I don't know. scared to. Wait, why were you like nervous or just like didn't want to? I just didn't, I don't know. It was like, they were very, they were like, they sent out this big document before we started and it was just to like, you know, be like,
Starting point is 00:42:16 you know, don't, don't, no, no phones. Everyone had their phones out. Oh, yeah. I keep seeing so much behind the scenes. I know. And it was, it was okay. But I think it was just their way of being like,
Starting point is 00:42:27 do not post things, obviously while we're in production. But know. And it was okay, but I think it was just their way of being like, do not post things, obviously, while we're in production. But now that the movie's out, we can do it. Yeah, all the behind. You guys should have been, like, doing TikToks. Like, the Bridgerton cast will always be doing, like, little, like, TikTok dances behind the scenes. You didn't do any of that. There's one video of me and Ari doing, trying to do a TikTok dance, and it's us failing miserably.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Is it out there? It's not out there. I don't think it's worth posting because it's so bad. You have it? I have it. You have to post. it's so you have it? I have it you have to post that's so iconic should I play it? yes!
Starting point is 00:42:49 it's not is it in the drafts? it's in a folder but it's um no it's not in the drafts I don't think I'll post it I don't think I'll post the actual thing
Starting point is 00:42:56 wait I need to see but it's not it's like no Trish it's so it's gonna be such a letdown okay no this is
Starting point is 00:43:03 everything and more here we go here we go this is everything and more. Here we go. Here we go. This is us in like the Oz dust. Like, what are we trying to do? This is so. No music.
Starting point is 00:43:15 No music. Oh my God. Wait, you have to post just that as is. Oh my God. You have to. I haven't watched that in two years I'm so Two years Do you ever get starstruck Like you just like mentioned it so casually
Starting point is 00:43:35 Do you ever get like starstruck by anybody All the time You literally you No Trish they told me Cause you are an angel You came straight from the airport Because we literally told you With like a day's notice Please come to New York if you can
Starting point is 00:43:50 And then you came straight from the airport to SNL And then the talent team was like Alright Trish is here Do you want to say hi to her I was like Yeah okay and then like We met it was so lovely It was the best I actually heard you
Starting point is 00:44:06 you were rehearsing a sketch you were doing the lawyer sketch and your microphone was on you're like Trisha Payne is here should I say hi now no you heard me thank god it was something nice I was like oh my god the microphone's on what if he's like ugh no you were very nice what did I say oh my god you literally said oh Trisha Payne is here should I say hi to her now and I was like no
Starting point is 00:44:22 like stay you were like doing like a sketch or something like that oh my god I was really nice. I was I was very cool Yeah, I like within like he has like 48 hours and you were so the DM you sent me to was like literally like it Might be beneath you and I was like to do Saturday Like it's beneath you This is the most important thing I'll ever do This is the peak.
Starting point is 00:44:45 This is the, I've never act, I've never said any lines on TV. Like you've casted me. Like that's it. No one else has ever casted me in anything. I've auditioned for 5,000 TV shows, 5,000 plays,
Starting point is 00:44:55 never got. So I'm like, this was my first like TV debut acting. You slayed it. You tore it. Hi there. I'm Ryan Reynolds. And I have a list of things I like to have on set.
Starting point is 00:45:04 It's just little things like two freshly cracked eggs scrambled with crispy hash brown, sausage crumble, and creamy chipotle sauce from Tim Hortons. From my rider to Tim's menu, try my new scrambled eggs loaded breakfast box. What's better than a well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue? A well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue that was carefully selected by an Instacart shopper and delivered to your door. A well-marbled ribeye you ordered without even leaving the kiddie pool. Whatever groceries your summer calls for, Instacart has you covered. Download the Instacart app and enjoy $0 delivery fees on your first three orders. Service fees, exclusions, and terms apply.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Instacart. Groceries that over-deliver. Eight, Slate, and more. I was starstruck. I was starstruck by you because I was telling you when I first saw you was just how attractive you are. And I mean this so sincerely because you are like a goofy person. So I think in general people think of comedians as like goofy. Totally. But then when you see them in person, like the hotness.
Starting point is 00:46:02 I was kind of like, I was flustered. I was like, wait. And I was like, asking you the most inappropriate. I was like, how old are you? Are you single? Like just asking you so many inappropriate questions. I'm so happy to answer. And then we connected over our signs, Taurus.
Starting point is 00:46:15 Scorpio. Scorpio. Which is my thing. That's what my husband is. Right. And it's just like that animal attraction to a Scorpio and Taurus because we're opposites on the chart. Right.
Starting point is 00:46:23 And I was just like, oh my. And I think just everything talking about you for so long on the podcast, we cosplayed you in Chapel. Like, it felt surreal. I was like, wait a minute. Like, even hugging on stage, I was just like, wait, this feels like,
Starting point is 00:46:35 it feels like a fever dream. Like, it felt so surreal. Well, yeah, it's like there's like jazz playing and like it just feels like beautiful and also mournful. It's like we just did this huge show. And I'm so jealous you get to do it again. Like that's so cool.
Starting point is 00:46:48 But at the same time, oh my God, we should talk about this. I think it's so interesting. You can talk about like cutting sketches and stuff or no? Yeah, absolutely. Oh my God. I did not know this. I really didn't. I did read, I've read books by like SNL cast members.
Starting point is 00:46:59 And the one I read was like Gasping for Airtime with Jay Moore. Have you read it? I haven't, but I love Jay Moore. Yeah, he was so good, but like never got a sketch on air. Like he was like, I'd always try to write for Chris Farley, like thinking he'd get on. Like it's a really interesting book. So I guess I didn't know like the pressure. And then when I got there, it's so nerve wracking.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Like they cut, what, they cut four sketches last night. They cut three before. So yeah, they bring out this big cork board where it's like this is the show after dress rehearsal. So dress rehearsal, which I also didn't know, you bring in a live audience at 830 and you do the full show. Yeah. Performance, costumes, everything. The whole bit, musical guest performances, everything. And that's just like a nice dry run essentially so that by the time it goes to air, like, everyone's done it at least once.
Starting point is 00:47:47 Yes. And that's, like, you know, even for Shabuzy, like, the musical guest, it's like, oh, like, it's all good. Like, work out any kinks, any camera cuts that need to be changed. But, yeah, then after dress rehearsal. So dress rehearsal, that was a long one last night. It was two hours and ten minutes. Yes. Very long.
Starting point is 00:48:04 So we were 40 minutes over because the air show was two hours and ten minutes. Yes. Very long. So we were 40 minutes over because the air show was an hour and a half. And then we wait and then the producers and Lauren pick up the show. They wheel out. It's a big reveal. It's like the cast list going up or whatever. And then that comes out and there's a column of cut sketches. We cut three and then on air we cut one. Yeah. And so four sketches total. Yeah. It was right before our sketch. Like, we're cutting this one. And I was actually really bummed.
Starting point is 00:48:28 It was called Irish Americans. And it's like a tavern sketch. And I do a thing on TikTok where I have a little tavern in my house. And I love doing, like, an Irish accent. And I was like, oh, my God. Wait, I could have been in this sketch. You could have. It was so cute.
Starting point is 00:48:40 And I was so sad it got cut. But sometimes they air the ones that get cut, right? Yeah, totally. Like, on YouTube and stuff. Sometimes they put, like, cut for time or something. So there might be a like for it. It's a really funny sketch. But even I messaged you when I told you about the sketch.
Starting point is 00:48:53 I was like, look, like there's a – the only thing is there's a chance that it might get cut. There's always a chance it might get cut. Yeah. And that would break my heart. And so that was my only trepidation honestly my my i have a million thoughts running through my head every show every week this week the only priority i had was to make sure like that you were taken care of and that like we could bring it to air and like pass the finish line that was so wild to me because you do a million things on the show
Starting point is 00:49:22 like you're like so busy so running around and you were you were like the most attentive i was like that's again why i think i like fell in love i was like oh my god is this like my boyfriend like he's like so attentive he's like make sure you're okay you're like holding my hand like it's just like so sweet at the end i don't know if you saw tiktok notice because i don't know it was all a blur they're like oh it's like bowen making sure trisha gets a paul hug like there was something you said you're like oh like whatever and then like pa Paul gives me a hug. And I was like, oh my God, that didn't happen before. So everyone's like, look at Boa making sure Trisha gets a hug.
Starting point is 00:49:49 It was like. Does that. I hope it's not like patronizing. That's my only fear. I'm like. No, no. Am I treating you like a hospital patient? Is it like the secret garden or something?
Starting point is 00:49:59 Where I'm like pushing you around. Like that's my. First of all, I would love that. I would like anything i just like i was so it was very it was very um unexpected and nice and like and everybody was everyone was super nice but of course you i was just like oh my god i would have done it like you did say it was could be cut and i like honestly would have done it just to like meet you just to be there i don't know what it was and i was like if i can meet him that's all that matters and then i felt
Starting point is 00:50:22 like an instant connection instant connection but even jim Jimmy Fallon, who you also know and love. Yes. Was telling you like, because I was talking to him. I was like, oh my God, isn't Trish amazing? And also like my worst fear is if like it doesn't make it to air. And then he goes, well, I was talking to Trish and I was telling her like, even if it does get cut, that's the full SNL experience. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:41 And everyone kept telling me that. And I kept thinking like, are we getting cut? No, I know. Because literally wardrobe was telling me, tailor, the page. Like, everyone was telling me that. They're like, but that means you, like, really made it to SNL if you get cut. I was like, okay, I feel like we're getting cut. People are really talking about this a lot.
Starting point is 00:50:56 I probably, like, four people told me. And I was like, okay. I know. I think it's just a way to, like, set expectations. But also it's like, it does put it in your head where you're like, am I getting cut? Yes, yes, yeah. I did get a little, like it does put it in your head where you're like am i getting cut yes yes yeah i did get a little like nervous about it and then like you said the board comes out and what i didn't know too is like one i didn't know lauren michaels was at every taping but also he's giving the notes yes the most surreal thing in the whole world so surreal because i love oh by the
Starting point is 00:51:17 way is this from wardrobe you said right yes okay so um there there's someone in the hair department named ariana and um her girlfriend literally it was the scuttlebutt. It was this Friday. This girl Ariana goes, oh my God, Trish Paytas is SNL. And then her girlfriend immediately springs into action and makes those bracelets for her. It says SNL queen tut. SNL queen tut.
Starting point is 00:51:39 Trish, that's everything. Trish like fish. Trish like fish. Yes. My most popular TikTok has like 80 million views and like of course it's even before my generation so many people I didn't know so I had to like break it down that I was like I literally stole it from Steve Martin like people think I came up with the dance I was like literally just took it from him um and he did it on that stage where we
Starting point is 00:51:57 were for the podcast so that's why and Andy Kaufman we talked about yes obsessed with so much like talk about it I want to hear you talk about Andy Kaufman, because I feel like there is this overlap between the two of you. I love him, and that's what kind of got me in trouble at the beginning of my career. Sure, sure. Because I thought, well, it worked for him, you know, like, maybe it'll, like, work for me. Kind of did. It got me on SNL. There you go.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Not the trolling part, but, you know, it gets to where people pay attention to you, right? And I love Andy Kaufman. My introduction to him, actually, was Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman. My introduction to him actually was Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman. So I didn't know, obviously, the real one before, but once I watched Man on the Moon, I did deep dives into the real Andy Kaufman, who is genius.
Starting point is 00:52:33 But Jim Carrey did a great job, I loved him. So I was like, wait, this is so smart. So all my original trolling on YouTube was just stealing his stuff. So I would say, oh, you know, men are superior to women, women are supposed to cook and clean and cut the carrots, the same crazy stuff and people are like oh my god who is this like you know what i mean people were pissed but i loved it because it was like making money right and i need money because i was i don't know if you know this i was like a hooker like on the
Starting point is 00:52:56 streets for like five dollars you know like giving five dollars and i was like this is great i'm making money pissing people off so that's like how it started obviously i regret it now because it haunts you forever these like clips but okay but like let's talk about this because the regret is like useful until not useful it's just like it's it's good until it like really just like i don't know with you and like i was telling you about this meditation i did yesterday i love this talk about it because i like actually like actually, like, I looked at it right away. It changed, like, everything because I've never heard of this before. So it's an astrologer that I love named Chani Nicholas.
Starting point is 00:53:30 And she does – she's got a voice smooth like butter. And then she – talk about Norbert Leo Butz. She's the Norbert Leo Butz of astrology. Yes, butter voices. Butter voices. And then she has this new meditation out that's centered around confidence. I was like, oh, this is perfect apropos. I'm about to do a show.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Why not? And then it's a visualization where you're in a desert, and then you come across this temple. And in the temple, it's been set up for you. There's candles lit. There's a whole upholstered seat for you. You sit there. You sit there there and you see
Starting point is 00:54:05 three mirrors in front of you this is so woo woo the first mirror is you see yourself anytime you've been told that you are kind and nurturing and that you care for other people and that you are there for someone else and present the second mirror is you seeing yourself anytime you've been told you're too much you're extra you not good enough, you're not right for something. That's the second mirror. The third mirror is both of those people, those versions of yourself coming together, and that kind version of yourself telling the extra version of yourself, essentially, that, like, hey, it's okay. Like, you can be this.
Starting point is 00:54:47 You know? And then that is, is like kind of what confidence is it's just like merging those things and um I think it kind of worked it worked when you said it not to be like so social with you but I was just like that's how I felt because sometimes like I always feel like oh my god I'm doing too much like I'm like let me not be extra let me not do this but when you had like said that you were like the nurturing kind where like the whole time I was there you were just like hyping me up you're like we're honored have you were like just like stuff that was like so like amazing to hear I just felt like a hug and I was just like every time you spoke to me every time we like had those moments you'd come in the dressing room to hang out you'd come in the dressing room to say hi like you just were like literally the most
Starting point is 00:55:22 nurturing person and you're so busy you're on this like show and i'm just like i told moses i was just like this is like so weird i mean maybe i'm being parasocial but i'm like i just feel like a connection i just felt like a hug like a mental hug a physical hug like everything and that's why at the end of like the after party i was like i had a couple drinks but i was just like i love you so much and i felt it though even today now that i'm like sobered up i'm still like god i love you so much i love you the stuff you say like stuff like that is just like it just resonates so hard and I feel like nobody else I can like talk to You about you know what I mean that gets it, you know So when he said that I was like, I love this so much. Well, like this is my thing about working at SNL
Starting point is 00:55:56 It's like you are going to be With people who are like so unlike you like you're not gonna be in like a comfort zone in terms of like dealing with people who are, like, so unlike you. Like, you're not going to be in, like, a comfort zone in terms of, like, dealing with people who, like, align with you on every single thing. And, like, that is a stressful situation on its face. But also, like, it's a beautiful thing because it's, like, it's not that I can, like, talk to anyone. Like, I do get nervous around whatever situations and people.
Starting point is 00:56:23 But, like, it does at least make you think like you see hosts come through you see cast and alums come through and you're just like I I sound so oversimplified but I'm like oh everyone's the same yes people are the same yeah and um we all have the same like fears and insecurities and all these things and then like the nicest not the nicest thing we can do but like a beautiful thing we can do is just to like make that apparent and like i don't know i'm being so like no love it mushy no but holding space for it holding space with it wait wait hold on okay so hearing you talk about like doing a deep dive into Andy Kaufman Doing a deep dive into Wicked Yeah Even though you found it later on
Starting point is 00:57:07 Like Yeah So when you find something How do you know that you're like I'm going Ooh It's I don't know
Starting point is 00:57:14 That's a hard one I think something just sparks it Like I can be like 10 years behind something Like Lost I just got into like I had a Lost podcast Like two years ago
Starting point is 00:57:21 Uh huh And then When did the show come out Like I don't know 2006 Yeah so Yeah so in 2022 I discovered it Started a Lost podcast Be two years ago. And then when did the show come out? Like I don't know. Dezen six? Yeah. Four or whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:27 So in 2022 I discovered it. Started a Lost podcast. Became so obsessed. Like did our maternity photos, you know, as Saeed and Hurley, you know. So we're like I was I'm so obsessed with it. And so I just get really obsessed with things. And I don't know. Something sparks it.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And I don't know what it is. I do get hyper fixated. You're like my latest hyper fixation. Stop. I was like, we have to cosplay him. We have to do this. Like I was like being a little, that's why I like seeing you. I was just like, oh my God,
Starting point is 00:57:51 this is like kind of weird because I don't hyper fixate on everybody. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. But maybe after last night, maybe it's so funny because we talked about Wicked and Gladiator and I would be on our podcast all the time
Starting point is 00:58:00 and Oscar loves like Paul Muskell and he's like, and Pedro Pascal. And I'm like, nah, I don't, because Wicked had the men i was like bowen yang jonathan bailey like that no but for real those to me were like i'm like who would even if you're gonna see sexy men like why would you not go see wicked over gladiator but after last night i was like i better go see gladiator you better go see gladiator paul's paul's got it yeah actually like insane the nicest like so sweet and humble and like everything and he just was like I was like I felt it I was like before I was like whatever but I was like oh my
Starting point is 00:58:32 gosh he is kind of like mesmerizing but you probably get that with so many hosts are you just like oh my god this person is the best person ever totally like like we all end up like Sarah Sherman and I have a bit where we're like oh my god is the host our best friend like in like every week that's how I would feel every week. That's how I felt with Shaboosie.
Starting point is 00:58:48 He came in. He's like, oh, I'm borrowing your mirror. And they saw the dress. I'm like, he's like, I love the dress. We can borrow that if you want to. Like, we were like, and I'm not a, I'm a very awkward person. I'm not a social person. But for some reason, last night I turned into a social butterfly.
Starting point is 00:58:59 I was like, yeah, you know, like, I was just like, he was rehearsing back there. I was like sitting with all his people. Like, it's just, you do feel like you're best friends with everybody. You're like a monk. You're like, this is, I'm going to use such an annoying word. The thing about SNL is it's pluralistic. It's like there's, it's different kinds of people. It's not like, it's not diverse.
Starting point is 00:59:16 I don't, that's not the word I would use. And that word has like a weird like stink on it now. But like it's pluralistic. It's like. Thank you to the sponsor of today's episode, Manscaped. We love Manscaped.

Never dated a man with a beard before because I couldn't stand beards. He's very cute with it, but I like to see his face. So I like that nice clean shave. He likes a little stubble. This Manscaped Pro package is everything you need. The Chairman's got you covered. The star of the show, the Chairman Pro, has not one but two interchangeable skin-safe blade heads. Think of them as his grooming superheroes. The skin-safe four-blade foil for when he wants that baby bottom smooth, or when you want that baby bottom smooth, and the skin-safe stubble trimmer for when he wants to
Starting point is 01:00:41 keep some stubble but clean it up just a bit. That's his preferred one. Both keep him looking sharp while minimizing razor burn and irritation. Because nobody wants to show up to the holiday party looking like they lost a fight with a Christmas tree. Nobody does want that. But wait, there's more! The Chairman Pro has Flex Adjust technology, which is basically like the holiday miracle of his grooming routine.
Starting point is 01:00:59 It's like Santa's elves made it just for him. The blades and pivoting head adjust to every curve of his face and his gentle on the neck area as if they had the gift of foresight. So go ahead, kiss that awkward jawline patch goodbye. No more pretending it doesn't exist while you hope nobody notices under the mistletoe. The Chairman Pro is also waterproof, which means he can use it in the shower because we know guys like to do everything in the shower. Well, he's got brushing his teeth in the shower, doing whatever else in the shower, and it's great waterproof shave in the shower, too. Don't get those, like, little stumbles in the sink. Oh, it isn't just for daily shaves, either.
Starting point is 01:01:28 It's powerful enough to tackle up to a five-day growth, making it perfect, whether he shaves every day or likes to tidy up after a few days. And with up to 75 minutes of run time on a single charge, he'll have plenty of juice to go from Santa's beard to smooth as a snow angel. Has a travel lock and an LED spotlight to help you see every detail, ensuring nothing gets missed. But that's not all.
Starting point is 01:01:47 The package also includes Power Shave Gel. It's a non-irritating, lubricating formula made specifically to work with the Chairman Pro for a smooth and comfortable shave. It's packed with skin-soothing ingredients that defend against redness and irritation, and it's dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin. And to finish off, we have the Face Shave Soother. It's an aftershave serum, which would be applied after shaving, and will help hydrate his skin and soothe any post-shave irritation.

That's 20% off plus free shipping with the code T-R-I-S-H at Manscaped.com. We love you, Manscaped. There's just different kinds of people. Yeah. And everyone just like is able to just like work towards the same goal, which is to like put on a show and also like have fun and like go out after and like, I don't know, like
Starting point is 01:02:56 not party, but just like socialize and like rub shoulders and like just say hello to people. It was cute. The part I went to was like we had like chicken fingers and mac and cheese. It was like this cute little thing. Like I thought it was going to be like, I don't know. I never go to parties. I thought it was like a rave or something like mac and cheese It was like this cute little thing like I thought I was gonna be like, I don't know I never go to parties if there's like a rave or something like that, but it was like super cute But you're right It's like the people I obviously didn't interact with her the people I wouldn't think I would like mesh well like the Mikey day and
Starting point is 01:03:13 Colin Jost like I thought but they were so nice. I saw both them They both introduced themselves in the hallway and seven to me I'm like, okay Those people are like couldn't be further than like what I am or whatever and they were like just so sweet and so nice Thank you did so good like they were like so sweet sweet and so nice. Of course. Thank you. Did so good. Like they were like so sweet. And then Dana Carvey and David Spade were out there too. And I was like.
Starting point is 01:03:28 I saw that photo of you guys in the hallway. That's so cute. I love that photo. I didn't see it in the hallway. Oh, there's a photo of you. No, you posted it. Oh, the photo bomb. I didn't know what's happening.
Starting point is 01:03:37 Yeah. Yes. That's a perfect photo. Yeah. I was kind of gagged for it. They were like standing like right next to me. I was kind of like. Because did you watch SNL as a kid?
Starting point is 01:03:44 Obsessed. Who was your cast? My cast. I just moved from Canada because did you watch SNL as a kid? Obsessed. Who was your cast? My cast, I just moved from Canada. And for some reason I didn't watch it in Canada, but we moved from Canada to Colorado. You're Canadian? I'm dual, yeah. Oh. Yeah. I didn't know this. Oh my god, there's so much lore to you. There's a lot of lore. I mean, I love, anytime
Starting point is 01:03:57 you say lore, I'm like, uh. It's very like social media Gen Z. I feel like I'm trying to fit in. But you don't like overuse it. You like throw it in there fit in. But you don't like overuse it. You like throw it in there when it's right. People overuse it sometimes, like the lore. But yeah. Of course.
Starting point is 01:04:10 So you're Canadian going to Colorado. I'm Canadian going to Colorado. And then like, you know, I just had to move around a lot when I was a kid. And it felt like the thing I could connect with people at school was comedy. It was like funny movies. Like funny. Like eventually it became like will ferrell movies but then like my first cast was like will and on a gas tire and chrissy tan chariotary like that oh that was kind of like a like a golden era i feel yeah it was i feel like that i feel like the adam sandler dana carvey era was very golden phil hartman yes and
Starting point is 01:04:44 then it goes in ways but i feel like you are kind of in the Adam Sandler, Dana Carvey era was very golden. Phil Hartman. Yes. And then it goes in ways. But I feel like you are kind of in a golden era right now, this cast. Like, it really is. It just has a different look to it. It's not like, I don't think there are like, I'm about to like, this is a weird controversial opinion. I feel like we're an amazing ensemble. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Everyone brings something different to the table. No one's outshining anyone, I don't think. I feel like there's definitely like stars. I I think everyone's amazing but there's always a breakout stars sure but I feel like we're all sharing yeah all of us all like you know what is it like 16 of us are like sharing the light yeah I hope that ideally that's what happens and sometimes it gets out of balance well I mean there always has to be like stars for everything you know what I mean there always has to be like a breakout when for everything. You know what I mean? There always has to be, like, a breakout when you see stuff. You're just like, but yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:27 I get what you're saying. I mean, it's all, everyone's funny. Like, there's not one person where you're like, ugh, I'm annoyed with this person. No, totally. And then, like, you know, there's a lot of conversation now about, like, oh, why isn't there, like, a big SNL movie star right now? It's because, well, comedy and movies are in a weird place. There's, like, no comedies.
Starting point is 01:05:40 There's no Will Ferrell movies anymore. You know, they don't do well. Which is, like, so interesting. I don't know why. Well, like, no comedies. There's no Will Ferrell movies anymore, you know? They don't do well. Which is, like, so interesting. I don't know why. Well, like, I hope something happens. Like, Wicked doing well gives me hope that, like, oh, like, you can't say blanketly left musical theater, musical movies are, like, bad or don't do well. Right.
Starting point is 01:05:57 You know? No, I feel like they're going to have, like, a resurgence. I hope so. Even though it's, like, tied to this big IP and there's, like, someone like Ariana Grande attached to it. Yeah. Like, that's part of its success. But also, like, it's tied to this big IP and there's, like, someone like Ariana Grande attached to it. Yeah. Like, that's part of its success. But also, like, I think people love a musical.
Starting point is 01:06:09 I think, like. Yeah. I just keep watching Wicked and thinking, God, I forgot that movies can make you feel like this. Yeah. Like, so much emotion. Yeah. Like, to.
Starting point is 01:06:20 Yeah. Even people who are not, like, my husband doesn't like musicals at all, but he, like, loved Wicked. Like, he was just, like, we have to see it again. I feel like because it makes you just, like, feel something. Obviously, the way it's shot, the singing, all are not, like, my husband doesn't like musicals at all, but he, like, loved Wicked. Like, he was just like, we have to see it again. I feel like because it makes you just, like, feel something, obviously, the way it's shot, the singing, all of that, like that. But it makes you feel something where it's like, yes, if you don't love musicals, I just break out in, like, song. But, like, it's just so different, you know? Because there's so much story to it, too.
Starting point is 01:06:38 They didn't leave one song out, did they? No. All of them. So good. All of them are in there. So, will you do more movies, then? Do you have money lined up? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:47 I've got some stuff lined up. But they're like really great projects that I like I'm proud of. Yeah, they're coming out. But also like if this is the end, like that's great. I don't think this is the end. I think all the time I'm like if this is is it, no problem. If I die tomorrow. You're like, I accomplished. Not even that I accomplished.
Starting point is 01:07:08 I'm like, I got to experience a lot of great things. That's the best way to live life. I think if you can say that, that's like the best life. That's how I felt after last night. I was like, that's it for me. That's a career peak. I'm going to talk about it for literally the next. For like the past 15 years, people have talked about this one Eminem video I did in 2009.
Starting point is 01:07:23 So this will be my new EminM video for the next 15 years. Trish Peters was on SNL that one time, you know? You know what? Can I? This is my theory on why last night was so, such a thing, such a moment. Like, literally, they brought you out, and before it even cut back to you, like, I've never experienced this where you were brought out and people lost their shit in the front row. And just even in, like, the bleachers, like, up in the rafters. Like, I think it's because this is my experience.
Starting point is 01:07:54 Like, people discover you and it's so personal on YouTube. It's like you're usually just watching it by yourself. And so people feel this parasocial thing where it's like, oh, my God. Like, it's very intimate this thing that I feel towards Trisha either way either it's like oh my god like you know way back in the day it's like I can't believe she's trolling
Starting point is 01:08:14 in this way or now it's like oh my god like I could hear her tap her nails on her Versace purses all night and do ASMR you're my favorite ASMR when you said that on your podcast you're like nails on her Versace purses all night. Yes, ASMR. And do ASMR. You're my favorite ASMR artist. When you said that on your podcast, you're like, now she's doing ASMR.
Starting point is 01:08:30 I was like, that's so random. That's so random. I watch every single video. Do you like ASMR in general? I love ASMR in general. Do you do it? I don't do it. I can never do it. I have such respect.
Starting point is 01:08:38 I just. Your voice is ASMR. No, it's not. Yeah, you could. Right now. Yeah. Do it. It's like very much like, I don't know,
Starting point is 01:08:45 you could do like a role play. Cause role play ASMR is my favorite where you just like talk and you're very quiet. Like a dentist. You could be like a great dentist. What's your favorite role play? ASMR? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:54 Oh gosh. I did do a Glinda one. That's like go on TikTok right now. It's funny. You did like toxic best, toxic girl in a lunchroom or something. Oh, I love being like mean girl. Yeah, anything mean girl. Toxic best friend. i love being like mean girl yeah anything mean girl
Starting point is 01:09:05 toxic best friend i love being mean because i'm like not mean but i love to like pretend i do love acting i guess that to me is my little sketches well that's why i'm like you have it like you have like like to me comedy is like in is like something is wrong it's there's an error in the system. And like it's just about like finding that error and blowing it out. And you do that all the time. Oh my God, thanks. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:09:32 I just like to have fun. But I only do it by myself. So to be on SNL like in front of like obviously with you guys was like everyone in the sketch. It was like crazy. It was like well obviously Paul and then Ego and Andrew and Sarah. Like that was like crazy. That was like so, you know, because I'm usually by myself myself in a room so to do it in front of people I'm like but luckily it was just playing myself um which is like wild if you could be it sucks that you
Starting point is 01:09:54 can't do because like to do movies you have to take off time just as SNL flexible with it um they it can be flexible if you can like stagger it into the breaks but even then like you need those breaks to just like turn off. And I didn't realize that during Wicked. Like Lorne Michaels in his infinite wisdom was like, okay, I'll let you do it. But it's going to be hard. Like you might hate this. And you were like, I'm going to try.
Starting point is 01:10:18 Well, you have to. It's Wicked. I was like, I have to. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you so much for all the opportunities you've given me and for like literally changing my life but i like this will be life-changing as well and it'll help the show and like oh yeah i feel like that's what i'm saying with the breakout movie star like it's you're the one in the movies right now which is like you know the biggest movie ever well but yeah like but like anytime he's like it's not that he literally says i told you so but anytime
Starting point is 01:10:44 he's he's able to say i told you so yeah that he was right, I'm like, damn, this man has seen it all. Yeah, he's been doing it. He's seen it all. He's seen every version of this. Have you seen the new movie? Is it out, the 1975 one? Yeah, it's great. Where is it at?
Starting point is 01:10:58 How have I not seen it? It was out in theaters for a while. I think it's – you can rent it, buy it. Oh, okay. I haven't seen that one yet. But he has been around for literally so long doing this. So he kind of sees it all happen. Is it true that Ariana specifically asked for you to be in this role? It's true. And I can't believe it.
Starting point is 01:11:16 I can't believe it went that far. Oh my God. How did that even happen? Like, how did you meet? How did you like, was it just from SNL? You guys knew each other? No, we didn't know each other at all. Like it was just, cause I, guys knew each other? No, we didn't know each other at all. What? Because I knew John. Because John and I met very briefly. I'm two. And then we were just like, I was out at dinner with a friend. And then like we were drunk and we FaceTimed him. We were like, John, put Bowen in your movie.
Starting point is 01:11:38 And I was like, haha, I'll be like an Emerald City guard or whatever. And then. Wow. And then he literally was like, oh, I'll think of something. And I was like, no. And then eight months pass. And then he's like, so what's your SNL schedule again? And I was like, what are you asking me?
Starting point is 01:11:54 I'll do it. I'll do it. I'll do it. I'll move heaven and earth. Oh, wow. And then he was like, I think I have this part for you. It's you're kind of like in the background for most of it. So, you know, if you're OK with that.
Starting point is 01:12:03 But I think like there's potential for like fun moments. You'd be in every shot with Glinda, with Ari. So it could be fun. And I was like, I'll do it. I'll do it. I'll do it. Wow. I couldn't believe that he was actually thinking of me.
Starting point is 01:12:17 Oh, my gosh. And following through on it. And then for a second just wasn't going to work with the SNL schedule. And then Ari. And I didn't even like know her, know her. Oh, I didn't know. I thought you guys were like friends. No.
Starting point is 01:12:33 And then she like went to bat for me before we even like hung out or anything. But she like literally helped make it happen. She called Lauren and he was like, I don't know. Like my hands are tied. He can't miss shows. He just can't miss shows. She called him. She called him.
Starting point is 01:12:45 That's wild. And then they have a really loving relationship too and they have a very um what i imagine was like a very complicated relationship like i think like they were just coming out of like they were just right in the corner with like the pete of it all and like you know like that was like a whole like era right i kind of for some reason blocked that all out but now that you say that oh my god that was like so significant it was it was a huge pete davidson era yeah you know and then that all settled down like they both like kind of like settled into like their lives after that moment um everyone's doing great like like pete was at the show a few weeks ago he's doing great. Like, like Pete was at the show a few weeks ago. He's doing great. And,
Starting point is 01:13:25 but Ari was like, oh, I haven't talked to him since like that time in my life. And then whatever, she was nervous. And then he was like, he can't miss shows. And then finally I like went up to him.
Starting point is 01:13:38 I was like, I think, I think I can really make this work. He was like, okay, I'll let you, but it will be so difficult. And you will have a hard time going from here where people value you
Starting point is 01:13:50 and going there where people will value you, but it might feel frustrating because you're not, you know. You're not like the star. You're not the star. Yeah. And I was like, no, I don't know. I think I got – and it was hard. Like I fully had a mental breakdown.
Starting point is 01:14:03 Really? And yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. What part of it? Just mental breakdown. Really? And yeah, yeah. Oh yeah. What part of it? Just the flying back and forth. Oh yeah. And just being alone for a lot of it. Even though I like,
Starting point is 01:14:10 I had Ari and I had Ethan and I had like Cynthia and Bronwyn there. Like it was, but it was this very, like I, I was dissociating. I was fully dissociating. I would like wake up in the middle of the night and be like, where am I?
Starting point is 01:14:26 What am I doing here what is my life like who am I how old like I just would wow like things about myself just fully left me and then
Starting point is 01:14:35 I don't know and then I just had to like get on meds I was gonna say how did you get out of it was it did you Matt and I had a whole fight
Starting point is 01:14:43 about it like Matt Rogers my best friend my co-host he's on a Christmas tour right it? Did you? Matt and I had a whole fight about it. Like Matt Rogers, my best friend, my co-host. He's on a Christmas tour right now. Yes. You guys are. You guys are. You guys are.
Starting point is 01:14:50 I know because I wanted to see him. Oh, he's like in Texas or something. You guys. You'll cross paths. He's obsessed with you. I love him so much. And then. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:59 You guys had a fight about. We had a fight about like. Like I felt like I was like receding and I was like i have no personality anymore what's going on i feel like i shouldn't do the podcast anymore like what am i bringing to the table i was like i was like i think it's all you babe like and not in a way of like you're like stepping on me or you're like steamrolling me i'm like i think i'm okay leaving the podcast and it should just be you oh no no. And he was like, no, no, no. And he was like, you need to actually like get real help. And I was like, cause I'd been in therapy for years, but I'd never, I'd never been medicated.
Starting point is 01:15:34 So this is your first time? My first time. And it's Lexpro. It's like, it's not, it's not anything crazy. Helped. Oh my God. Changed, changed everything. Therapy changes everything.
Starting point is 01:15:42 Yeah. Like talking, I'd never did therapy until I was like 32 and it like changed my life but yeah i that's good that you were like able to like he was able to recognize it for you because maybe you didn't maybe you didn't like know because it's it's interesting how like the biggest things in your life was happening like it's like the biggest movie the biggest opportunity you're on the biggest show on tv where you're like a star like and then you're still feeling that way which is like i think so important to talk about because it's like i always sometimes think it too like you have everything you ever wanted and then you're like why am I like it's like the Britney Spears lucky song like why do these tears come at night yes
Starting point is 01:16:09 you know I'm like god she really ate with that Britney does eat Britney does eat I had an hour long conversation and I won't say what but at the after party someone very close to Britney was there and I had this like hour-long conversation about her like is she okay is she good like I just want to make sure she's okay and I'm like I won't repeat it and I did I won't but I'm just I just want to make sure she's okay. And I'm like, I won't repeat it. And then I did, I won't, but I'm just like, I just want to make sure she's good. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:16:26 yeah, yeah. And then what's your, you don't have to repeat it, but what's your feeling? Like, I think she's good. I think she's,
Starting point is 01:16:32 you know, good. I think she like has, you know, issues like everyone, but I think she's good. She just bought a house or something I saw. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:16:39 we live super close. Like, we live like five minutes from each other. So I'm, and I've seen her, I've seen her. And again, I don't really ever talk about it.
Starting point is 01:16:44 Cause I like, I love, she's the ultimate parasocial where i'm just like i just want to like make sure but i see her literally maybe like once a month in our area of course never say anything or bother her but she always looks good and she's like queen love her so much what was your relationship with britney growing up i just you know wanted to be here it's very much like wicked right you see glinda stage like i want to be her and i think that was like me with britney yeah and kind of what you were saying like relatability where it seemed like she was just like you know your friend you know and not someone like unattainable you know like it's like oh i could be that person
Starting point is 01:17:11 too um but that's yeah she's she's queen and last night it was like who's who by the way at the snl after parties it's like so many people come up and like obviously not even people like associate with snl but it was so yes saw ben platt who I had met earlier in the year, who was, like, he's my dream. I, like, met him. And Z-Way. Z-Way. Was there. I kind of get.
Starting point is 01:17:30 I was, at this point, I was about to. I was, like, already, like, leaving. I honestly thought I was hallucinating when I saw her because I love her so much. And I was just, like, oh, my God. Like, it was so weird. I was, like, touching her, like, face. I was just, like, you're so beautiful. You guys, like, you like you guys are like so compatible
Starting point is 01:17:45 oh she's so quick and so i could never like her george dantison interview i was just like so quick so i could never be that she's so iconic and so smart but yeah it was fun for that and all your friends were so wonderful and then asha's friend i didn't know asha was only like 25 too like she's a baby and she like got to hired right out of like college i was like oh my god so she's special i love that that's why i love this like young crowd getting in like positions of power because like you said without her i don't know if i'd have been on snl so i love seeing these like young people who can appreciate me and i'm like oh my god thank you so much that was and will too will being there too yeah well steven yeah so it was it was really great um
Starting point is 01:18:21 speaking of your wicked co-star jonathan bailey did you see the grinder sexiest men list that just came out did he was he the top who do you think was the top where is my phone oh i think sexist oh no i think pedro pascal was the top oh did you see it i think i saw that because they because um las culturas was number three the first two the number one and two was was both of katya's podcast was tricksy and katyar's top podcast. You guys were on the list? We were on the list. We were number three. And then it was like
Starting point is 01:18:48 Caleb Heron, who's amazing, who records here, right? Yeah. He does? Yes. Caleb's here. In New York?
Starting point is 01:18:55 Yeah, in New York and LA. And LA. What an icon. I love him. Icon. He should just start his podcast too and he's already on top. I know.
Starting point is 01:19:01 He's already on the top. Yeah, I'm loving him. Okay, Pedro Pascal. Wait, are you pulling it up? I have it. Yeah, I'm pulling it up right now. Okay, yeah, this is a corner. I just think Grindr gets it because people's sexiest man
Starting point is 01:19:09 was John Krasinski. No, it was someone else. Was it John Krasinski? Yes. Okay, yeah. People were mad. I'm just always a little shook because I just think it's like, you know, with the relevancy of this year of either being gladiator or wicked. Like, of course, like Jonathan Bailey or Pedro Pascal so when it came out
Starting point is 01:19:27 I was like what wow what do you think about it what do I think about it I is it weird if I don't have any thoughts about it no that's probably normal no but I should so mad for what everyone's like so pissed about this yeah that's the issue right I'm like wait a minute why are we why are we mad people just want to be mad and I get it too I'm so mad for what? Everyone's like so pissed about this. That's the issue, right? I'm like, wait a minute. Why are we mad? People just want to be mad. And I get it too. I'm also, obviously, I have a podcast that I rant about things.
Starting point is 01:19:51 So people just love to be mad about things. So do I. And like literally we build in ranting. But like sometimes I'm like, eh. It's really not that serious. But it was. It's such an important issue for me that every year we talk about it that i was just like last year was the strike so okay so they put patrick
Starting point is 01:20:09 dempsey because everyone else was on strike okay because he had like a loophole with thanksgiving so we're like okay but this year i was like but no one's on strike no one's on strike so what's what's the excuse i guess krasinski yeah i don't know and they put him in like a sweater for his photo shoot and i was like this is not giving sexiest man. They go for like, um, they go for like a seasoned guy, like a guy who's like a little bit wizened,
Starting point is 01:20:35 has a couple, like has a few crow's feet. I mean, there's lots of, Pedro Pascal is wizened, don't you think? No, he's wizened for sure.
Starting point is 01:20:43 Okay. But is he number one? So, so yeah. So number five. Okay. So number one is he number one on Grindr? So, yeah. So, number five. Okay, so number one is Pedro Pascal. Great. Do you agree with that? Totally. Over Jonathan Bailey. Well, that's tough. I mean, God, there's
Starting point is 01:20:53 just different flavors of sexy. I mean, Jonathan Bailey is universally the sexiest man alive to everybody, right? Totally. Okay, so he should be number one. I mean. I love him. He's my hyper fixation i'm kind of getting over it now because he's too famous really yeah i feel like i was like finding i mean obviously british is huge but i was like oh i'm still in that niche area travelers you know what i mean
Starting point is 01:21:14 but i think you're wicked yeah so then you're just like okay well everybody loves him now so let's move on to the next person oh is that how you feel you You're like, well... No chance for me. No, no, but you're just like, um, I need, it needs to feel more personal to you. I think so, yeah. So, I, yeah, it's very rare that I hyperfix it on someone, like, super famous, you know what I mean? Sure. So that's why, I think the last one was The Weeknd
Starting point is 01:21:37 and The Idol. I mean, he's super famous, but I was like, ooh, no one liked The Idol, and I was, like, so into it. Yes, yes. Okay. Peta Pascal, like, I just don't, I mean, he's attractive. I don't, it doesn't do it for me. Yes. Bad Bunny was number three. Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 01:21:51 And Travis Kelsey number four. Uh-huh. You think? Okay, this is going to sound so annoying, but I think all four or five of those. There's one more. There's Jeremy Allen White at number five. Okay, so I haven't met Jeremy Allen White. Oh, so you met four of the five?
Starting point is 01:22:09 I met four of the five. And, like, there's just something about, like, in the room, y'all. Oh, that's right. You've been in the room with all of them. Something really, something shifts. And Pedro, it's like, well, yeah. And then, like, Pedro looks like, you know, like Clark Gable and Cary Grant. It's like he's giving something classic.
Starting point is 01:22:32 Oh, interesting. John Bailey is giving you, like, you know, like a cut Rupert Everett kind of thing. Like this decade's version of, like, a like a rupert everett like sexy british guy yeah um the bad bunny is just like pure like charisma and whatever like all that and then was the fourth one was um travis kelsey travis kelsey when he hosted snl was before he'd won the super bowl but before he dated Taylor. And he came in and I was just like, oh, who's this guy? Like, I don't really follow football. He seems like a decent guy and whatever.
Starting point is 01:23:16 And then he comes in and he's just like – just like gives you like prom king energy. So it's just – these are all different types of hot to me that are all valid. Okay. So they're giving plural hotness for you. They're giving plural. No, but okay, okay. But you want my ranking? Yeah, I do. Oh, so they're giving plural hotness for you. They're giving plural. No, but okay, okay. But you want my ranking? Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 01:23:28 Oh, my God. And it doesn't even have to be from them, but like your top five. Like, what's your people's sexiest man? What's Bowen's sexiest man alive? Okay, I'm going to say... I'll put Jonathan Bailey up there for sure. And you met him. Yeah, we had a whole... You flirted with him on screen.
Starting point is 01:23:42 Flirted with him on screen. He's just a good guy. My thing is... like I my thing is this is my thing if I see a hot person I like I don't shut it down I just
Starting point is 01:23:51 part of me goes that's off limits yeah like that's not for me that's for someone else that's how I felt when I saw you for real I was like
Starting point is 01:23:56 I did I was like I hate like I was like so flustered I was just like honestly I will put you above Jonathan Bailey now no way
Starting point is 01:24:03 no I'm not just saying that I'm not just saying that. I'm not just saying that because, like, you're, like. You're going back to your trolling days. This is Andy Kaufman. No, I promise you. You know, I feel like you know. I was, like, so flustered.
Starting point is 01:24:15 And I kept, like, saying, like, oh, my God, you're gorgeous. Your skin. Like, what do you do? Like, I was actually so enamored. And I'm still like that, like, even right now. Even right now. Come on. So, you know how Jonathan Bailey comes across where he's, like, so charming to everyone? Like, you actually, like, are that person. And your skin is actually, like, glowing'm still like that like even right now and i just like so you know how john the melee comes across where he's like so charming to everyone like you actually like are that person
Starting point is 01:24:27 and your skin is actually like glowing and stuff like that you know everything about you and i was just like and then i met your trainer and he was talking about your body and i was like i noticed in the pirate sketch like your shirt came and you were like doing you were like the one dancing i was like and that put the dancing through life moves to shame. I was like honestly Oh stop Trish. That's way better. You should have been Fiyero honestly Shut your mouth. We were all literally me and Sarah Sherman were just like and just everybody was just like I mean Trish is the most beautiful person mesmerizing. Just your face. You know No I don't. I actually am very insecure but I try to put it aside
Starting point is 01:25:04 Don't I?'t. I actually am very insecure. Of course. But I try to put it aside. So am I. Yeah. But you are. Thank you. You are so stunning. Well, it's not like you. You're like a little Ken doll. Are we going to have sex?
Starting point is 01:25:12 Yeah. We're going to. Honestly. We're going to fuck. I am so. Oh my God. If I wasn't married, I'd be like. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:25:20 Yeah, absolutely. Wait, have you. Is this too personal? Have you been with a girl? I've never been with a girl. Okay. No. You've never like. We're like, maybe like maybe oh i would totally do it really because i i don't know i obviously don't know i do consider myself like obviously queer but like i didn't know like i
Starting point is 01:25:35 had to like try it but i guess some people just know they're like no i like people know exactly like i'm i'm hetero i'm gay but to me i like didn't know i was like i should probably try everything right you know what I mean to know When I still don't know I'm like why kind of like everything yeah, so to know from experience that feels like it's the extra Like like underpinning or whatever yeah, yeah, like what type of girl I liked and stuff like that You don't even mean like did I like the dolls or do I like you know this woman? I didn't know so I was like trying everything yeah, I wondered if you were like yeah, I guess I have no Beat I guess I should I should just expand the palette.
Starting point is 01:26:07 But I am like. Yeah. I feel like it's all open. Yeah. Even though it's theoretical. But I am going to say. Okay. Do you want my five?
Starting point is 01:26:21 Yeah. Jonathan Bailey. I'm going to say. I'll say Pedro. Wow. You're putting them at the top two of all the men. Okay. And the third, Steven Yeun.
Starting point is 01:26:33 Who's Steven Yeun? He was in, nope. He was in. Oh, oh, oh. Yes. He was in Minari. I know. Just like a hunky guy. Just a gorgeous.
Starting point is 01:26:42 You met him? Met him. This is tough. I'm like. You met him? Met him. This is tough. I'm like. Locked eyes? Not locked eyes. We met. We met at a play.
Starting point is 01:26:50 And I don't know. We've just like. He's been so sweet to me. But this is the thing. It's like. By the way. If any of these men are listening to this. I hope it's not weird the next time.
Starting point is 01:27:00 You should jump the veil at the next Wicked. And be like. Oh. He probably knows everyone finds him attractive. That's the other thing. Where I had to like. Step off. I'm like, okay everyone thinks you're hot like not me Damn I don't know John Krasinski How about on the cast who's your sexiest man on the SNL current? You know a lot of hunks They're all very sweet too. So sweet. I'm gonna say Who's your sexiest man on the SNL current cast? You know, a lot of hunks. A lot of hunks. A lot of hunks on the cast.
Starting point is 01:27:25 They're all very sweet, too. So sweet. I'm going to say, God, I have a little crush on Andrew Dismukes. He knows that. He's so sweet. Wow, sexiest. I love that. Okay, Marcello, James, Michael, but Devin, so cute.
Starting point is 01:27:53 Honestly, and he knows this because I think he's just started and he's brand new, but Emile. Yeah. Like, what a little honk. I think it's universal that everyone's like, that guy's hot. But I need to hear it more because I think like, I hear the air sort of like leave the room. Like, if I'm watching like in my dressing room with like my guests, everyone's like, wait, who's that guy? I'm like, oh, he just started.
Starting point is 01:28:09 That's so funny. He's got like, he's got it. The swag. He's got it. There's a lot of that at SNL. Like a lot of like, I was a lot of the women and they're all like, wait, who's that? Who's that? You know, a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:28:19 I was like, I'm so glad like honestly that I wasn't like single like at SNL. Because I feel like I would have just probably tried to Like flirt with every single person you know what I mean cuz everyone is it is kind of this like wow I would say the one that like striked me the most which I like didn't get until I met him was my day No, who Oh Marcelo Marcelo such a little because you were so sweet You're like Oh Walker up to the stage and he like had his arm It wasn't on camera, but he like had his arm and I was like walking around with him Oh my god, this is so sweet and he's like he's one of the biggest breakouts right now because of
Starting point is 01:28:46 domingo obviously which is how jimmy fowler who we talked about earlier that he i remember he like his agent emailed me i was like oh he wrote the domingo sketch i was like oh my god i want to meet him you know what i mean because it is quite amazing so he was one that i you know because he's very bro-y last night's show was very bro-y totally you know we were watching it because all the girls in my dressing room and we're're like, I think this is like bro humor. Until the gladiator wicked at the end. I'm like, okay, that was good. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:29:09 We're like, I don't know if this is for us. Because it's like, it was so bro-y. But that's Marcelo too. He gives me bro-y vibes. And so I was like, I don't know. But then when I saw him, I was like, oh, he's pretty cute. No, totally. But I think everyone thinks he's cute.
Starting point is 01:29:21 Maybe he's going to date Sabrina Carpenter. My God, who knows? Who's to say? So who's your fifth then? So now that was fourth from the cast. Okay, okay, okay. But I think everyone thinks he's cute. Maybe he's going to date Sabrina Carpenter. Oh, my God. Who knows? Who's to say? So who's your fifth then? So now that was fourth from the cast. Okay, okay, okay. And your final one. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:29:30 Emile is in there? Yeah, sure. Yeah. He's your top sexiest. He's so handsome. So handsome. This will get back to him. And then.
Starting point is 01:29:39 It's going to be awkward when you go in on Tuesday. No, it's fine. I think we can all go. It's not going to be a thing where like. Yeah. No, no one's trying to date him. No one needs to go up to the 14th floor
Starting point is 01:29:48 and talk to HR. Oh. Okay. It's totally fine. Oh, that's so interesting. I never think about stuff like that because I'm online so I'm just like
Starting point is 01:29:54 call everyone hot. And I'm like, maybe I guess you're not supposed to. No, it's totally fine. Because sometimes I look at Oscar and I'm like, you're so hot. And I'm like,
Starting point is 01:29:59 maybe you're not supposed to say that to someone that you pay. Oscar is so handsome. He's very handsome. Very handsome. Number five. Give me a second. Yeah, it has to be a good one because it's like i know it has to be a great one oh god and it has to be like a celebrity so yeah well yeah someone knows i mean you can give me like joe or something but it's joe, it's, it's, it's, oh God, oh God.
Starting point is 01:30:26 I can't believe you don't have a roster. I have 5,000 mannequins. Yeah, I mean. Give me one. Oh my God, now I'm like nervous. Like now I'm like,
Starting point is 01:30:35 okay, I'm on the spot. We're both on the spot. So, Emma, do you have, do you have, do you have? Colin Farrell. Oh, totally. That's like John Krasinski to me, like very,
Starting point is 01:30:43 like 2012. Right, right. I love it though. Who's someone more, oh, you know what? Krasinski to me like very like 2012 right right I love it though who's someone more oh you know what I'm gonna say it was like a current hottie
Starting point is 01:30:50 I was gonna say like Josh O'Connor who I didn't get until Challengers oh I would counter that with Mike Feist yeah I think they're both
Starting point is 01:30:57 so so so as far as theater men go I always got the Ethan Slater thing before when people used to like hate on him now everyone loves him of of course, thankfully.
Starting point is 01:31:06 But like even back in the day when he was getting hate, when like no one knew whatever, I always was an Ethan Slater stan. I'm like, he is, what are you guys talking about? He's so cute, so talented. When he did, what was it?
Starting point is 01:31:14 Something, was it Something Rotten? No, Spamalot. Spamalot, so good. And everyone was like, you know, I'm like, you don't understand. Like that's the theater boy energy that everyone like gags over. That straight boy, like Christian Borle.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Yes. You know. And so I've always been like that for Ethan Slater. I was always like absolutely. He is – look like and also he is jacked under that shirt. So that's a little piece of meat for you jackals. How did you see that? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:31:45 Was she shirtless on set? Just like – There was one – Oh, my God. This is a gag. Okay, this is breaking news. Love it. This is a Just Trish exclusive.
Starting point is 01:31:54 Oh, my God. Thank you. I'm drinking so much tea. They shot a whole montage between Popular and the – So after Popular, it goes into like Elphaba doing her toss toss. And then Fiyero's like, you've been Glendified. And then they go to class and then. That was good.
Starting point is 01:32:09 And then Dylan. I love your Fiyero. I got really. No, that was not my Fiyero. That was good. And then Dylan gets dragged off. Like, and then the poppies, everyone falls asleep. Between those scenes, they shot a whole montage just to show, just to like try to show the audience
Starting point is 01:32:23 that like, oh, these are all friends now. Fiyero, Glinda, Elphaba, Nessa, and Bach. Like the five of them like running around. In the fields. In the fields, hanging out. So like the reason why Elphaba has all those poppies is because like they cut a thing where they're
Starting point is 01:32:39 in a poppy field and like they pick flowers and they're just laughing, having a great time. But then there was one, there was one moment and there's like paparazzi shots of this because they had to shoot in like a park in london there are very few things that you can be certain of in life but you can always be sure the sun will rise each morning you can bet your bottom dollar that you'll always need air to breathe and water to drink and of course you can rest assured that with public mobile's 5G subscription phone plans you'll pay the same thing every month.
Starting point is 01:33:08 With all of the mysteries that life has to offer, a few certainties can really go a long way. Subscribe today for the peace of mind you've been searching for. Public Mobile. Different is calling. Of them like hanging out and then like
Starting point is 01:33:23 there's a scene where like like it's Bach and Fierro Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater like ripping their shirts off for the movie or just for fun oh my god I love it and so like
Starting point is 01:33:33 you're supposed to see like Jonathan Bailey in his full shirtless glory like flexing and then Bach in the story in the movie in the story of the movie
Starting point is 01:33:41 just being like insecure and wanting to like you know, look hot too, like take a shirt off. But then it's like, oh wait, but Ethan,
Starting point is 01:33:49 Ethan's got a great body. Yeah, you're like, actually, it's always the sneaky hot. Oh my God, wait, why did they cut that?
Starting point is 01:33:55 I think it's because, it's a two hour, 45 minute movie. I think people would have loved a three hour movie if that was included. That's what people wanted. Like,
Starting point is 01:34:02 what? Yeah, so, there's that. Oh my God, wait, my god wait that's breaking news i don't think i don't think i might get in trouble for saying that but no i don't it's fine it's the movie's out it's fine it's already filmed yeah it's already filmed oh my god that's crazy because that scene is always like those clips are the the images from it is everywhere and everyone's oh it's a flashback from part two but that was supposed to be in part one i think that was
Starting point is 01:34:21 supposed to be in part one and then there's other stuff that's been like paparazzi that will obviously be in part two i love that picture up oh my be in part one. And then there's other stuff that's been like paparazzi that will obviously be in part two. I have to get that picture up. Oh my God. No, Ethan Slater. He really has. I've said it from the beginning.
Starting point is 01:34:29 I love that he's getting the recognition, but would you ever do, well, I guess you can't really do Broadway because I was thinking of you as Fiyero. You could be Fiyero on Broadway, but.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Terrible Fiyero. You would be so good. Can you give a little Fiyero like liner singing? You can't do that. You remember the one he's like dancing in line. I loved it so much. I feel like you could. You're't do that. You remember the one he's like dancing in your life. I loved it. I feel like you could.
Starting point is 01:34:47 You're wearing the pants. They're kind of pierre pants. I'm going to give you two words. Okay. You say that would be the Austas ballroom. Oh, that would be the Austas ballroom. Sounds perfect. You know what? Did he I have a
Starting point is 01:35:04 Charlie horse. Did he not say that in the movie? Are you okay? I That was so good Now I have a charley horse Did he not say that In the movie? Are you okay? I think I'm great I'm great Did you really have a charley horse?
Starting point is 01:35:10 Those are the worst You can't walk Up in your thigh? Up in my thigh So that's not A charley horse is in your calf Oh my god See
Starting point is 01:35:16 It's like So much sexual tension It's up here I'm like Don't show me your upper thigh It's wild It's crazy Show me your
Starting point is 01:35:24 Oh my gosh. Anyway, yeah. I'm still stuck on a fifth. Did he not say that line? I don't think he did. He didn't say, that's perfect. He didn't say, that's perfect. Why?
Starting point is 01:35:33 It sounds perfect. I don't know. But then he took a little liberty. It sounds perfect. That's right. It's like, what's a swankified place? Town. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:39 That's the bottom. Sounds perfect. That's such an iconic line. So good. I'm so sad he didn't say it. Me too. But you know, my favorite line in that same moment is Glinda going, in the movie, Ari going, I love helping others.
Starting point is 01:35:52 Like, that's the funniest thing to me. Oh, yeah. No, she was iconic. I mean, that is Glinda. It's so funny. I love helping others. I still don't have a fifth guy for you. So, who was the one we just said that made me think of Ethan Slater?
Starting point is 01:36:03 We just talked about a theater guy that I was like, I love. Straight theater guy. Oh, um, um, Christian. No. made me think of Ethan Slater? We just talked about a theater guy that I was like, I love. Straight theater guy. Oh, um, um, Christian, no. We said Christian Borle, but before that. Christian Borle, wait. You said, something said something that sparked my Ethan Slater, like straight boy theater boy. Uh-huh, uh-huh. So, someone in theater maybe?
Starting point is 01:36:18 Anyway, it has to be like a gay guy. Yeah, that's my, okay, can I say that's my grievance with people sexiest man? They've never had a gay man or yeah a queer man or anything by no, I know asexuals nothing I was just like a hot gay man I've said this on my Twitter like statistically are like the hottest people and every no, but you know what I mean? Like there's been every single like year. There's been a hot gay man. Like I'm my my first gay crush was I by the way I've only loved gay men like I have such have such crushes. It was Ricky Martin.
Starting point is 01:36:45 I remember being like, I love him so much. Wait, who? Ricky Martin. Ricky Martin. Why was he not Sexiest Man Alive during, like, Livin' La Vida Loca? I'm going to say Ricky Martin. That's my fifth. Ricky Martin now or Ricky Martin then?
Starting point is 01:36:55 Any era of Ricky Martin because watching Paul Morial, I was like, and then we did a Hollywood Report Roundtable together last year, and I was like, and he was so sweet. He said the nicest things to me and I felt like he was proposing to me. Is he single? No. But he... That's how I feel with you. I was like, are you proposing? You're being so nice and I was like, wow, this feels like we're recording. Ricky Martin's my best. Wow. Ricky Martin's pretty high up there but like how did people sexiest man not name him
Starting point is 01:37:26 I don't know I know a little homophobic I think honestly like how do you not put like one gay man as like the especially Jonathan Bailey this is his year
Starting point is 01:37:33 I know I was like I don't understand this at all but he has he's gonna be in the new Jurassic Park so maybe next year I think he's gonna I think it's like rocket ship
Starting point is 01:37:41 you know what they named him as people magazine gave him the title as the sexiest Fiero which is there's only one there's only one and also like It's like rocket ship. You know what they named him as? People Magazine gave him the title as the sexiest Fiero. There's only one. There's only one. And also like there have been so many hot Fieros.
Starting point is 01:37:53 That's true. It's like you can't. Adam Lambert was a very hot Fiero. Adam Lambert was a hot Fiero. Nick Adams is a hot Fiero. Oh, yes. A lot of great Fieros. Ashley Angel Parker from like Ota was Fiero. Ashley Angel Parker was Fierro?
Starting point is 01:38:05 Yeah, and the Pantages when I saw it. Yeah, he was so good. I love a white pant Fierro. A white pant Fierro. You need to do it. Can you just like go in for a night? Like on an off night? Matt Rodgers would be a great Fierro. I would be a great Bach. No. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 01:38:21 That's not true. No, I would love to be Bach. But you're not. You're a Fierro. No, Trish. You're like me being like, I'd be so not true. No, I would love to be Bach. But you're not. You're a Fiero. No, Trish. You're out of your mind. I'd be a great Madame Warburg, but I should be Glinda. Like in a Broadway, not in the movie, obviously. But like, you know. You would be an amazing Glinda.
Starting point is 01:38:34 I mean, I'm like 36. I did love to see everyone age up a little bit in this movie. I mean, I know part two, they like age up anyways. But I did love that. Because you remember when Ben Platt played Evan Hansen? Yes. I remember being 27 playing a high schooler. I was like, okay, but like, whatever. He originated the role. Like, he was the best for it, you being 27 playing a high schooler I was like okay but like whatever he originated the role
Starting point is 01:38:46 like he was the best for it you know so I did like that everyone was like again I know no totally I know what you mean but what was it
Starting point is 01:38:54 what were we saying your fear on Broadway and then you said you're Bach I'm Bach and then before that I know we're all over the place
Starting point is 01:39:01 I was also thinking because like Little Shop is doing like so many stunt casting I was like I wish you could be Seymour and I could be on way. Oh my god. You would be amazing. Wait I want to do it with you. I would die. We do it for like one night. Yeah, it's a night and I'm just like This time I met at wicked actually one of the people do social media for a little shop and he's like
Starting point is 01:39:19 Oh my god You should come in and I was like, but they always have a great Seymour and I just want bone-yank to be the same I would be so thrilled to play Seymour maybe for like a night can you memorize a show for a night yeah it's basically like SNL you do it for one night only right and it's really rough around the edges
Starting point is 01:39:36 this is the thing about SNL too that people should understand we have two days to rehearse it so it's gonna be it's gonna be a little rough and that's the beauty it has to be ser So it's going to be a little rough. And that's the beauty. It has to be serrated. It's not going to be a cleaned up, sanitized version of something that goes through a million rounds of edits and network notes and exec notes and studio notes.
Starting point is 01:39:55 It's like this is literally from the bottom up and not the top down. And that's the beauty of the show. And that's why people like it. And it's so fun. And it was the biggest rush in my life. It was like one in the morning when we were done. And I was like so hyped. No, you're high on adrenaline.
Starting point is 01:40:07 It's crazy. It's crazy. And the energy there. Like everybody is excited. Like everybody. I met the nurse. Teresa. We met each other multiple times at Donny Osmond.
Starting point is 01:40:15 Really? Yeah, in Vegas. She's like, oh, I've seen you a couple times at the Donny Osmond meet and greet. We do the VIP together. And I was like, wait, that's so crazy. So she came up. She's an angel. Loved her.
Starting point is 01:40:24 But yeah, everyone's energy. Like everybody is just like so excited to be there and it's like really really amazing and it was the best time I had one more thing before we go wait and it went on my head. It'll come to you it'll come to you. Yeah. It'll come to you. Was it about SNL Wicked? It was about SNL. New York? New York just in general. You should come here more often. I can't believe
Starting point is 01:40:40 the last time you were here was five years ago or something like that. Yeah. No it was. It was five years ago. yeah no it was it was five years ago no i want to come back i would love to be here like part-time or something it's just so much fun and i just like love you now i have a friend i didn't know anyone in new york before we're here and now it's just like we're here yeah i had a really great ending note and now i'm like so sad no problem we'll we'll we'll do it doing a lost culture you gotta come on yeah
Starting point is 01:41:05 when are you guys doing that again are you guys picking up we are gonna take a little break until the new year but then I mean you just have A-Less guests
Starting point is 01:41:11 how do you like keep up with that that's like wild it's like Mariah Carey Ariana Grande it's like you can't how do you you can't go up from there
Starting point is 01:41:17 yes you can absolutely that's like the highest I feel like at that point I'm like oh my god I'd be too stressed trying to no
Starting point is 01:41:22 no way we're not new people it's everybody's welcome. Last Call to Reese says, check it out. Check it out. Check out. I love, usually when people come on, I'm like, check out their SNL. Like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:41:33 It's like, oh, we already watched it. Yeah, it's a good little show. Check out Wicked. Check out Wicked if you haven't. Just you promoing on Just Rich. You do not need a promo. But thank you. Honestly, this was like the highlight of my whole life.
Starting point is 01:41:44 And you are so cute. I wouldn't have made this for the world. I could not have asked for a better way to spend my Sunday after the show. Which is so nice. And you skipped your haircut for this. I skipped my haircut. I can wait. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:41:55 It was, I can't believe it. You came down here. I didn't know how far it was. And you came down this way. Of course. And I just, I love you more than anything. I love you. And thanks for having me on SNL.
Starting point is 01:42:04 Of course. Like, it's Bo and Yang everybody I'm so excited thank you
