Starting point is 00:00:00 You know you watch it and you see like these kids being actually scared right and like Les Mis is kind of like a heavy show Are you like feeling it as a kid? Are you like oh, or are you just like this is fun? No, I wasn't feeling it as a kid. I wasn't feeling it. I was definitely just like living on the barricade like getting shot like Her name is Trish, she's got the fish and all the gossips Filthy, rich, pretty, and pink Hot topic queen and says what everybody thinks She's just Trish Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Just Trish
Starting point is 00:00:40 You guys, I am like giddy, gagged, everything For our next guest, he is Broadway royalty and currently our own hook in Descendants 4, Joshua Robert. Hi. Hello. I am...
Starting point is 00:00:53 We go back. No, we go back, Trisha Paytas. Yes, except we've never really met. I've just been a fan of you, really. I've been a fan of you. Which is crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:01 I think we talked for the first time during quarantine. Yeah. And I was just, I don't even know, I was just like, I love you so much in every way. I've been, you know, disclaimer, if you don't like musical theater or Broadway, like this
Starting point is 00:01:11 may not be for you. Yeah, log off. You're going to have to collect another video. Yeah. Exactly. First Broadway star we've ever had here. Oh my gosh. Calling me a Broadway star is crazy, but you're so sweet.
Starting point is 00:01:21 You've been a Broadway star since 2014. Was that your, or was it before? Newsies? Was that your first? Yeah, You've been a Broadway star since 2014. Was that your, or was it before? Newsies? Was that your first? Yeah, I think it was like 2013, 2014. Were you, you were in the original cast or was it? Of Newsies? No, I replaced, but I was in like the original Broadway revival of Les Mis, which I did like
Starting point is 00:01:34 right after that. With Gaten, right? Yes, with Gaten. Yes, Gaten. Yes, love him. I know, my little angel. You guys, you guys performed together. I love the duet you guys did at, was it 54 Below?
Starting point is 00:01:42 Oh my God, yeah, all for the best. I know. So good. It always like resurfaces on my timeline i'm like it's so funny how people find like all these old videos i mean i'm like oh my gosh it's actually crazy because it's like crazy to see you now being in so many movies like on netflix and hulu but like getting your start on broadway i feel like is the most iconic thing ever oh my gosh well i love you that's so sweet and how old were you so you were in 2002 so 2014 you were 12 yeah yeah i was 12 i think yeah
Starting point is 00:02:05 when i went into like newsies and les mis and everything like that i know it's been a long journey but i started like professionally like doing theater and stuff when i was 10 which was like crazy like i went on the national tour of les mis that's kind of that was kind of my little in that was my in with the broadway version how do you get that how do you get in like are you do your parents know somebody like Like, how does it happen? Yeah, so my parents did musical theater. They still do. Like, they have a children's theater, like, company. So they have always kind of, like, in Florida, where I grew up, they were, like, always, like, doing theater.
Starting point is 00:02:34 And I was just around it all my life. And then my mom was like, you're pretty good, baby. Like, she was like, you're good or whatever. And so she, like, basically basically i was at this audition like just in florida for this like local theater and there was this kid in the like waiting room to go in for this i was auditioning for a christmas carol which i ended up getting oh my god yes a little tiny tim moment that was like my first thing but she was in the like lobby and we were there and there was another kid and he just came back from auditioning for the national tour of Les Mis and that was like my mom's favorite
Starting point is 00:03:08 show and it was like her dream for me to play Gav Raj and it just obviously was my dream because I'm a carbon copy of her oh I love that I love that and so she basically was like oh yeah she was like talking about it with the mom and she was like what is that casting director's name like pretending like she knew who it was and they were like oh it's like mary sugarman shout out mary sugarman and so my mom was like oh yes of course and then she was like mary sugarman mary sugarman trying to remember it all the way home and then she got home and looked up her email and then just sent her an email and be like i think my son would be really great he doesn't have representation and then mary sugarman wrote back and was like yeah send a tape and then i got it and my whole family
Starting point is 00:03:43 went on tour oh my gosh with me that like makes me want to cry like because he tells like that's crazy i always wonder how people get in you know yeah it's really it's honestly really hard like there's no real way to do it people are always asking like how do you get like an agent and like how do you do things like that i'm like i don't know i don't know yeah just have a stage mom who's like ready to do it for you i love that literally me with my kids i'm just like any inkling they're singing i'm like you're a star you're like oh my god you're like getting pitchy i feel like she kind of is i always i'm like did she just harmonize with me like oh my gosh no i believe it yeah i always like put her she's literally like two years old but i'm like maybe no hey listen i am it's never too early when did you start singing when
Starting point is 00:04:21 do you think you like were your first songs oh my gosh well ever since i like actually an infant like straight out the womb like actually singing yeah because some babies do yeah probably like five like five sit like four i don't know i just again high school musical was like my my thing and so i was just like you know always singing that who did you want to be did you want to be like a troy or did you want to be like a like a oh my god i wanted to be all of them i had a crush on all of them I wanted to be all of them I don't know like anything Disney I was just like I'm obsessed you know what I mean so you kind of like manifested working for Disney I know and I went as Captain Hook for Halloween when I was like four or five which is crazy yeah I did I did in my little like my little slide when I announced it. Oh my God. Isn't that crazy? That is wild.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I literally specifically remember like arguing, not arguing, but like deciding who was going to play Captain, because I have a twin brother. Yes. Iconic.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Yes. And so we were deciding who was going to be Peter Pan and who was going to be Captain Hook for Halloween. And for some reason, I guess I was like drawn to Captain Hook,
Starting point is 00:05:21 which is so interesting because everybody always wants to be like the hero, but I was like, no. Yeah, you're no, I was like, give me my fucking hook. Yeah. Did you have the voice back then too? I mean, probably not as deep, but maybe. Where did the voice come from?
Starting point is 00:05:34 Because it is iconic now. Oh my God. People will clip like you in an interview versus you as Captain Hook. I know. I know. I've literally seen all of them. I'm like, oh, they're locking me. I kind of live for them.
Starting point is 00:05:43 No, me too. Because you do impressions. I mean, that's what you do. Yeah. Oh yeah. I love it. I literally am like, I'm like, oh, they're clocking me. I kind of live for them. No, me too. Because you do impressions. I mean, that's what you do. No, yeah, I love it. I literally am like, I'm like, versatility. Like, show the versatility. No, it's like, I don't know. I just, when I got the audition, I immediately knew what I wanted to do.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I've always done like that British deep voice, like just joking around with my friends. And I was like, this is like, this has got to be it. Like, this has got to be Captain Hook. You know what I mean? So I don't know. I just like, it just came naturally. did you audition with it then yeah and there was like in in the audition breakdown they were like do your american accent too and i just didn't never sent a version with my american accent really yeah and like this is it i was like i was like you guys he's british
Starting point is 00:06:16 i was like i don't know what to tell you did they know you were american they did i think yeah they did know i was american um it was actually it was was, like, I had to, like, prove myself that I could do the British accent. That's so funny. Like, I had to do, I'm a little teapot. Singing? Yeah, I had to, like, show the Disney executives that I could do it by being, like, I'm a little teapot. Like, short and stout. Like, I had to do, like, a whole thing and send it to them.
Starting point is 00:06:40 I don't know. It was so funny. That's actually good, because when people sing, a lot of times British singers don't even sound British. No, I know. They do, like, Carrie Hope Fletcher and stuff like that. Like, they all do, like, American. I don't know. It was so funny. That's actually good because when people sing, a lot of times British singers don't even sound British when they sing. No, they do. Like Carrie Hope Fletcher and stuff like that. They all do American. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:48 I think it's something with the vowels and stuff when you're singing. It's a lot easier to do in an American accent. I don't know. That's what I wonder because I know Jonathan Bailey playing Fierro. He's British in the movie, but it sounds... I heard a little... I don't know if I'm... I heard a little leak of it.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Not like... I don't know if it was legal or whatever, but I heard a leak of it and it sounded American. I was like, oh, that's so a little leak of it. Not like, I don't know if it was legal or whatever, but I heard a leak of it and it sounded American. I was like, oh, that's so interesting. No, yeah, like that's always,
Starting point is 00:07:07 any like West End performers, I'm always listening. I'm like, they literally sound American. Yeah, but you sang in British, which I think is like, in British.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I did, I did. You sang in British, the classic. But in Les Mis, did you have an accent? No, we didn't do accents in that production.
Starting point is 00:07:23 So that was good. Like a French accent or something? No, I wasn't like, yeah, that inspector, you know, yeah, I wasn't doing any of that production. So that was good. Like a French accent or something? No, I wasn't like, yeah, that's Inspector. You know, yeah, I wasn't doing any of that. That would have been good, though. So how does that work when you're doing Les Mis? How old are you, like 14 there, too, or 15? I was like, well, I started when I was 10.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Oh, on tour. But when I did the Broadway, I was like 13, yeah. So how does that work? Do you go to school? Yeah, I was homeschooleded, like online schooled. And so we're like the other most of the kids that were like on in these Broadway shows. I don't know. It's just the schedule is so like crazy that you kind of have to just be ready to go.
Starting point is 00:07:55 But yeah, I'm very grateful that I got to do it like online and at home because I think I shout out to all those like Broadway kids that are like or even the TV and film kids that are like juggling all that. There's also like tutors and stuff like on set for all those. Yeah. For all those things. They can't go. I think it was Presley Ryan was going to public school still when she was doing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Yeah. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I was like, how are you doing? No, I don't know. I don't know how people do it.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I'm like, I'm tired. I'm tired. And are you doing eight shows a week? Yeah. You're doing eight shows a week. But I mean, I was alternating with Gaten. So like, but I still had to be there every night. So it is eight shows a week? Yeah, you're doing eight shows a week. But I mean, I was alternating with Gaten.
Starting point is 00:08:25 But I still had to be there every night. So it is eight shows a week, whether you're on or not. That's kind of amazing. So you're there every night just in case? Yeah, just in case. And there was so many times where you had to jump in halfway through, which is always so fun. I know. Broadway's just so amazing.
Starting point is 00:08:41 When are you going on Broadway? I think you could do it. A little Titanic or something. Maybe I'll be in there. Wait. Love it. Have you thought about this before? Yes, all the time.
Starting point is 00:08:51 I'm like, what can I go in as? You could do that. Titanic. Call me. Listen, I saw that. It was so good. I haven't seen it. I haven't been to New York.
Starting point is 00:08:59 I've just seen little clips of it. And it looks so good. I love the concept. I love all of it. Very good. You could totally do that. But I think let's go a step up like let's go with you sweeney todd i was like back when you were still a kid miss love it yes that would have been so cute
Starting point is 00:09:13 right toby and miss love it nothing's gonna harm you i can't sing with you i'm too nervous but the fact that you will sing on my podcast makes me happy because everybody who comes on here is a singer i'm like can you sing and they're like not right now i'm not warmed up so the fact that you can just go into it i'm like whatever i love it so much oh my god to be a kid on broadway that would be amazing and then when you jump in half show to me that's like the most wild thing so someone gets sick they're like okay get him right now in hair and makeup go yeah like literally like putting dirt on backstage like literally putting the dirt on that gavroche wears like getting the costume on the mic and everything so quick it It's really nerve wracking,
Starting point is 00:09:46 but it's so fun. Like literally so fun. And as a kid, because I always think about this, right? Because I would have loved to have been like a child actor and like then I think about my daughter, but you know, you watch It and you see like these kids
Starting point is 00:09:53 being actually scared, right? And like Les Mis is kind of like a heavy show. Are you like feeling it as a kid? Are you like, oh, or are you just like, this is fun? No, I wasn't feeling it as a kid. I wasn't feeling it. I was definitely just like living
Starting point is 00:10:03 on the barricade, like getting shot. Like, yeah. That's what I'm asking. No, I know, yeah. Like, I don't feeling it as a kid. I wasn't feeling it. I was definitely just like living on the barricade, like getting shot. Like, yeah. That's why I'm asking. No, I know. Yeah. Like, I don't know. No, it definitely wasn't very heavy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:11 That's good. But it was just more fun because it's like literally like you're playing with your friends on stage. Like, it's just like such a blast. Yeah. It's really, it's such a unique experience, but I am so happy that I got to do it. Was that your favorite, like your favorite Broadway experience? Because you've done a couple. I would. I mean, yeah, I'm so happy that I got to do it was that your favorite like your favorite Broadway experience because you've done a couple yeah I would I mean yeah I think so I I there's so many shows that I loved I did a Bronx Tale which was like this which was so fun were you
Starting point is 00:10:34 the original cast of that I was I did the out of town for that so I did it at Paper Mill and I did all the workshops I was just too old when it was time for it to go to Broadway unfortunately but that's okay um but yeah no I so I did all the workshops and I did the out of town and everything and that was just so wonderful and I got to do it with like the most amazing cast and like that was my first time I kind of really got to show off like my vocal ability as a kid or whatever because I never really had like a big song that was my own and in that show i had like this huge number that was just mine and so it was just really exciting yeah oh my god and then they go to broadway and
Starting point is 00:11:10 they're like oh no because you looked young at every age like even now you play him i feel like i'm ready to go yeah i'm like put me back in put me back in it was still going on yeah that would have been great we talked about beforehand 2d ervin hansen have you talked about this where you were supposed to be evan where they asked you supposed to be Evan is a crazy thing to say they wanted you yeah no I was in the running for it for for a while like I kept going in but the hot score that score I mean Ben Platt is the only one like seriously like it's just so high like it's just so high in your voice hearing like the Evans do it I'm just like how how i'm like ow i'm like literally out well you could have probably done it you said you were going through like a yeah so i was going through
Starting point is 00:11:47 like vocal problems basically i had like tonsil like i would get tonsillitis like every time i'd sing too hard i don't really know what the science is behind it they said i was a carrier whatever that means but i just recently got my tonsils out so i'm like let's go back to broadway really so what does that mean for your voice um they were like it might change and stuff like that but honestly i haven't noticed that much of difference if anything i feel like it's definitely improved it so i don't get sick as much anymore though like every time i would sing i was literally getting so sick and i would just be out of commission um but now i'm like able to sing and like do all of it yeah shows would you go back to broadway i would would you
Starting point is 00:12:24 because you're so like tv movie now no i would i would do like a stint there's a couple things like in the works or whatever you can say i'm so excited to hear yeah i'll i'll give you the spoilers yeah but no there's been there's been a couple things that i've been like i've almost done and then there's some happening right now that i'm like i might end up doing but it's really just a timing thing. Like, you know, like the timing has to be right. Um, and with descendants and everything, it's just been. When does fast grocery delivery through Instacart matter most? When your famous grainy mustard potato salad isn't so famous without the grainy mustard. When the barbecue's lit, but there's nothing to grill. When the in-laws decide that actually they will stay for dinner. Instacart has all your
Starting point is 00:13:05 groceries covered this summer. So download the app and get delivery in as fast as 60 minutes. Plus enjoy $0 delivery fees on your first three orders. Service fees, exclusions, and terms apply. Instacart, groceries that over-deliver. So busy, which I love. So yeah, busy, champion problems. People who don't know, I asked you the day I started this podcast like a year and a half ago you were my first person I'm like can you be a guest which was so such an honor like seriously you wrote back you're like oh I'm doing this thing with Disney and I was like okay you'll never and I didn't even know what it was at the time and then when I saw descendants I'm like well now I'll never get them but then no no no you dm'd and
Starting point is 00:13:40 you're like hey I'm like I can do stuff now, wait, really? And isn't it crazy that I literally messaged you back, like, literally the exact day that I had messaged you a year ago? Yeah, that's what it was. I didn't even notice. Exactly a day. I, like, gained consciousness or something. I was like, I've got to be on her podcast. I don't know what happened. It was crazy.
Starting point is 00:14:00 I was so excited. Because in no other world would we ever collab. Because obviously I'm not being on Broadway or The Descend anytime soon who knows though who knows i'm gonna look at you in your outfit we haven't even talked about your outfit ruby is literally gonna be so excited when she sees this i love her i she commented once we did the gelatin tiktok and she commented on it i was kind of gagged for it what do you think of all that gelatin and all that i'm obsessed i love it call us gelatin like literally were you on set for it? Of course. Yeah. No,
Starting point is 00:14:25 literally. It's just so funny. Like it's so interesting. Like you don't realize when you're filming the movie, like what moments are going to be like clipped and like, you know, taken out of context and like, just,
Starting point is 00:14:38 you know, blown out into these huge trends or things like that. It's just so interesting. So when you saw it happening, you're not, you're not like, this is it. This is the thing. I was like, like yeah i was prepared for this no i was
Starting point is 00:14:47 like what i was like what do you mean but like now looking at i'm like i guess that does kind of like it does have a weird kind of groove to it um no i don't know like i don't know who the choreographer was but it's kind of a kind of choreography with the head spin oh my gosh yeah ashley wallen yeah he did the choreography he did the choreography for. He did the choreographer for The Greatest Showman. Oh, iconic. That makes sense then. No, truly such an icon. And Kabir and everyone, Isa, who did it. It's such a fun thing. The Disney universe, young Aladdin and Jasmine at school together. What do you mean? Well, that's what I didn't know. We saw the clip first, and I knew Descendants. I'm like, oh, they're the kids of the villain. So when I watched Descendants 4, I was very confused. I was like, wait. Where are we? Yeah. I'm like, oh, they're the kids of the villain. So when I watched Descendants 4, I was very confused.
Starting point is 00:15:25 I was like, wait. Where are we? Yeah, I was like, but this is Hook. And then when the Charming meets Cinderella, I was like, wait, I thought this already was. So then I watched it and I understood. I got the lore. Time travel. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:35 It's a mess. You're playing the original villain. You're not the son of Hook. You are. I'm the OG. I'm the OG. My son is Harry. Did you ever get to meet him?
Starting point is 00:15:43 I haven't got to meet him yet. I really want to though. He seems so cool. Yeah. I have to go back and rewatch all the Descendants but he does seem like an iconic in the first one. Like literally like the original movie. If you thought our movie was good like go check out the original movies. Like seriously they are so iconic. Like
Starting point is 00:15:59 they were literally my childhood growing up in like so many other people's childhoods. So like to be like kind of thrust into this franchise was like such an honor. I was just so excited when I finally found out I was going to be in it. It's so cool. So you were a fan. You were a fan. Such a fan.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Yeah. And like literally anything Kenny Ortega does, I'm like, I'm like, I'm obsessed. Oh my God. You said you knew him kind of. And I was just like, oh my God, that's iconic. That to me, it's like high school musical, but also like Michael Jackson. Oh my gosh, I know. I remember that This Is It movie, seeing it. I'm like, oh my God that's iconic that to me it's like high school musical but also like michael jackson oh my gosh literally i remember that this is it movie seeing it i'm like oh my god like he's amazing i love watching him choreograph the high school musical like two where he's doing like
Starting point is 00:16:31 sharp pays dances like that you know i was like he's he's iconic because he does it he does it with you it's not like an abby lee miller no tells you he's like doing it with you no i know i'm like i would love to like work with him to that capacity of like getting to like you know learn from him and stuff like that i i only know him just because through my friend jaheem and like i know him because they're working together and everything um and he just has been so kind to me and like anytime he sees anything descendants related on my feed he always like swipes up and he's like congratulations like it's just really is such an honor seriously because i know like that's such a big part of his life yeah um and now it's such a big part of mine so i'm so happy that he's kind of there to
Starting point is 00:17:08 be like you're doing good no you are now like in the staple of like disney legends oh my gosh and you were your hook i mean that's like so iconic and so great i really am so honored i can't believe they trusted me to do it i was like wow did you how did you prepare for it like anything deeper well no i just kind of i don't know right when i got well i basically my friend avantika was like auditioning for another character a long time ago for it and so basically and like other friends of mine were auditioning for the other characters so i'd seen the script and i'd like no i knew they were making it and so then when i finally got a little audition in my inbox, I was like locked in.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I'm like, I'm ready to go. You got to nail it. Yeah. And I think, I don't know. I just kind of, I felt like I knew exactly what to do with it. I've always been a fan of the character. So I guess I've always just kind of had him inside me. I kind of love that.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Had him inside me. Did you ever see, you remember Peter Pan Live when they did it? Yes, of course. Did you ever watch? Were you in it? No, with Alison Williams. I think I did audition for it though. I did. Did you? Did you audition for all those lives that came because on a music they happened did you
Starting point is 00:18:08 audition for that no i didn't audition for that one i think i did i just auditioned for peter pan like a lost boy no i'm looking for the one with the hat and the glasses yes yes john michael yeah and you didn't get it no but i think jake lucas got it and shout out jake lucas he killed it yeah i remember it so i remember christ Christian Borle was like Shmi or something. And I was like, he's such a big iconic Broadway actor. I'm like, why is he Shmi? You're like, what's happening here? I'm like, why was he not Peter Pan?
Starting point is 00:18:31 Peter Pan's late though. Yeah. She is someone now, right? Who? The person who played Peter Pan. Alison Willis. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course.
Starting point is 00:18:38 She was in Girls and things like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, wait, okay. I know Broadway, but sometimes I don't know the names that well. So I'm like, yeah. No, me neither. I'm like actually surprised I got that. No, you know everybody. I'm i'm like wait give me myself back
Starting point is 00:18:46 i love that you auditioned for it oh my god that's so what is your like dream role right like ever ever oh my gosh ever ever you know i really would love i would love to play gabe in next to normal i don't know if you know next to normal like that but it's a player it's a musical that score is incredible tom kid it is so good um i would love i would love to play marius in in les mis i will a little you go back yeah let's hit it again yeah i don't know i'd love to play orpheus in hadestown um there's just so many there's so many parts i mean i also would love to just originate a role again i think you would be great and oh my gosh yeah you said nabonica earlier and everyone wants her to be rapunzel so i thought you would be great and oh my gosh you said avonica earlier and everyone wants her
Starting point is 00:19:26 to be rapunzel so i thought you as splen writer oh i would love that i've seen you do the cosplay and the voice and i was like this the smolder i would literally be honored to play that part who knows i feel like there's so many great options for that role no i feel like there's not oh my god i mean there may be there is but no one like you i think avonica for that role. No, I feel like there's not. Oh my God. I mean, maybe there is, but no one like you. I think of Hanukkah for Rapunzel and you. You're the sweetest ever. I mean, let's put it out into the universe.
Starting point is 00:19:49 And Hathaway from Mother Gothel. We were like doing a dream casting. Oh my gosh. Like that would be perfect. Wouldn't it be so good? I love it, guys.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I can really, I can do the Flynn Rider vibe. I promise. For sure. I know you're looking at me right now and thinking, no. No.
Starting point is 00:20:02 But. You look like him now. That's why I thought of it. No, I love when he's like, oh no. No, no, no, no, no. This is bad this is very very bad this is really bad they just can't get my nose right i'm like i love that you know all the lines already you can just like recite my favorite disney movie is it really yes i like alan menken literally king like so good what's your favorite disney movie ever yeah. I'm kind of actually into Newsies right now. I used to be a Newsies hater.
Starting point is 00:20:28 I was a hater. And then I watched, you know, I'm into Mike Feist right now. He's like my new, he's been my favorite for a while. But I was like, oh, he was in the original Newsies. So I went to Disney Plus and I was like, I'm going to watch Mike Feist because I'm obsessed with him. But he wasn't in the recorded version. No. And I was like, you know, what's the lore with that? Because I was like, what the heck, Jeremy Jordan's in it. Oh my gosh, yeah. I think they just had,
Starting point is 00:20:44 there's, you know, the principles. I don't know if like, what the heck? Jeremy Jordan's in all the originals. Oh my gosh, yeah. I think they just had the principles. I don't know if his part was considered a principle. I don't actually know. Oh, I feel like he would. Yeah, I mean, he's such a star now. I think he's probably filming West Side Story or something during that. He's like, I'm too busy. He's like, babe, I'm busy.
Starting point is 00:20:56 I can't go do this right now. But I think they should remake Newsies. I would love to play Jack Kelly. That's another. Oh, such a good role. Oh my god, I would love it. I feel like that would be great if they remade it because there is one from like the 80s or something that's like. Yeah, I've never even watched that version. It's not good. That's
Starting point is 00:21:10 why I was always a Newsie hater. I was kind of like, ew, this is kind of not good. You know what's crazy though? I think that is Kenny Ortega too. Okay, but shout out to Kenny because we love. Actually, now that you said that, I love. That's my favorite movie. Newsies is kind of iconic and it's against Jeremy Jordan and Greta Shulman. It's coming to Broadway. Did you see that D23? Because you were there. I did see that.
Starting point is 00:21:28 I did see that. I'm so gay. No, I'm so excited. I'm like another dream role. Would love to play one of those parts. Oh my God, you would be amazing.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Bailey or something. Yes. Oh my God. You would crush. That score is incredible. Is it hard to sing? I don't think so. Because I heard like
Starting point is 00:21:42 Jeremy Jordan and Hugh Jackman doing it. I'm like, wow, this sounds like hard. Oh my gosh well that's not the part I would play no yes
Starting point is 00:21:47 the one the Zac Efron character I forget his name but that's I don't think that's the part everyone wants Jeremy to play they want him to play
Starting point is 00:21:53 like Hugh Jackman's part oh maybe now I think back then he was supposed to play Zac Efron and then Zac Efron replaced him there's lore
Starting point is 00:21:58 there's lore I can imagine is it just for ticket sales to be like oh well we're gonna sell him what was that I guess
Starting point is 00:22:03 yeah I guess I don't really know there were so many like even like Cynthia Erivo was in the reading as, you know, Zendaya's part, but they went with Zendaya. You know what I mean? In the movie? Like, if you watch, you know, there's a video of Keala, like, doing This Is Me.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Yeah. In, like, the big reading. And you can see Jeremy there. You can see, and you see Cynthia. No way. Yes, and there's, like, videos of, like, Cynthia cynthia singing rewrite the stars and everything like that it's crazy i don't know the broadway babies are like look they're looking people like push them aside but they're really killing it now look at cynthia yeah going to do wicked wicked and can i just say i've
Starting point is 00:22:38 always said that cynthia should play alpha but an OG. I wish I had proof somewhere because I literally was like the only person that can play this role in the movie is Cynthia Erivo. I said it from the start and so when I saw
Starting point is 00:22:52 that she was announced as Elphaba, I was like, I said that. Oh my God. I was like, I said that. Powerful,
Starting point is 00:23:01 powerful manifestor you are. That's why I think you will play Flynn just like Ariana wanted to be Belinda. Well then I'll put a little juju on you and you're gonna be on Broadway too I would love it I submit myself for anything I'll play anything anywhere especially for like Wicked
Starting point is 00:23:11 like what role would you have did you get to audition at all I did I auditioned for the movie you did I did yeah that was like at the time I was doing like senior year and stuff like that I was just too young but that would have been great did you audition for Fiyero? No, no.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Wait, really? I've always said you should be. I would love to be Fiyero, but sometimes you have to just be like, I'm a Bach, you know what I mean? We're all Bach plays. We love Bach. I love Bach. I love Bach.
Starting point is 00:23:36 And that was such a fun audition, but you know, I was just a little baby. I was just a little boy. How old were you when you auditioned? I mean, I wasn't that young, but just younger than Ariana. You know what I mean? I couldn't have played opposite her. They kind of aged up everyone in a good way. Like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:23:49 I feel like Jonathan Bailey's my age. He's like 36 playing a little Aussie instrument, which I love. I'm obsessed with him. Me too. Didn't know he could sing, but I was like so excited to see him. Oh my gosh. Have you seen the video of him doing The Last Five Years? No.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Trisha. Wait, really? I'm obsessed with him too. What do you mean? Okay. You're after this. Go look up Jonathan Bailey, The Last Five Years. It's basically like his audition tape to be in this musical called The Last Five Years.
Starting point is 00:24:09 I don't know if you know it. No. Jason Robert Brown. That's also another dream role. But he literally, oh, this video is incredible. Like you have to see it. He got the part. He got the role.
Starting point is 00:24:18 He sings. He sings good. Yes. He goes, there are people and they're publishing my book. It's like this whole, it's this whole song. It's also like, it's really cool to kind of see behind the curtain a little bit and like see these audition tapes that he did it's really really good it's on youtube just look it up you're gonna be obsessed i feel like i know everything about him i never knew that sounds like does he sing like i've only heard him sing like as like bridgerton like there was like can't
Starting point is 00:24:40 help falling in love with you oh my gosh no he was a broadway boy from the start oh my god i didn't was it who else i think do you watch bridgerton at all yeah do you know is it luke newton i think started yes yes no i saw his aunt or something i saw something i saw he was in like a maybe some musical series or something like that was like popping up on my on my tiktok i was like theater kid i think he has aunt or something started him in theater all i know is everybody's secretly a theater kid deep down. Anybody you're like, yes, they're like, they're a theater kid, turns out. Well, you would think so, but everyone I have come up,
Starting point is 00:25:08 I'm like, do you know this musical? Like, no, I don't like musicals. Oh my God. I'm like, wait, how, what? Haters, haters. Yeah, it's actually insane to me because musical theater is like life. I love it.
Starting point is 00:25:15 I don't know. It's just something about like, nothing gives me chills like musical theater, honestly. Hearing someone like just, like the way you guys sing is like actually insane. Like hearing just someone like belt a note, it's like wow it's crazy no i just i'm like so in awe of all the theater performers it's also you have to be so like like disciplined to do it that's why another thing why evan hansen would have been so hard to do is because like ben and all of them went on
Starting point is 00:25:39 like strict diets like they didn't speak all day long like they had it's like very you have to be really really disciplined to do those kind of shows but when you do broadway don't you have to do that too like go on vocal rest i mean i probably would now but when i was a kid i was like just shouting yeah like just running around that's amazing and do you do what do you do like drink oil or something how do you keep your throat i don't know do you drink oil yeah don't they do that um no like go to throat i don't know like yeah tea like i don't know no dairy you can't have dairy or anything like that yeah i don't know i don't know how people do it like after two hours of talking here i'm like oh my god i can't talk the next day no i
Starting point is 00:26:12 know it's like no literally i'm like i'm tired and you project so much with your voice just in your talking so i'm like how do you like ever get to like sing too like could you go sing tonight if you needed to yeah i think if i had like a little a little beat yeah i could do it i don't know i have to reach i'm like so nervous to go back and do theater because it really is just like you have to be so disciplined in doing all of that no it would be a lot but i think you really need to for sure what did you audition for with for bach like what song i just i just auditioned with the bach material yeah so like did you do the nessa nessa uh, I've got something to confess. The reason why I asked you here tonight.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I love Wicked so much. I know it isn't fair. I know. It's because I'm in this chair and you feel sorry for me. Well, isn't that right? No, no. It's because you are so beautiful. Oh, Bach, I think you're wonderful.
Starting point is 00:27:03 And we deserve each other this is like my dream my husband literally knows i ask everyone to sing with me i got chills we should have been in what the heck i remember the nessa nessa line was like so iconic and i think it was alex brightman who's like everyone gets it wrong they think it's confess it just rhymes with nessa but he's like no confess a reason why yes of course i know i like i act like i'm in broadway where i'm like no you'm like I need to learn this I need to learn you know
Starting point is 00:27:26 you know everything you literally do oh man that would have been so good I would have loved I do love Ethan Slater but I do think you would have like
Starting point is 00:27:33 crushed this movie oh my gosh well maybe a sequel yeah I guess I'd do a part two but it's probably all filmed right oh it is it for sure is
Starting point is 00:27:39 I'm so excited to see it like I don't think I've ever been more excited for a movie me too ever never yeah I feel like it's one that's not
Starting point is 00:27:45 overrated at all. It deserves all the hype. Literally, it's so good. Stephen Schwartz. Yeah. Killed it. Oh my god, it's going to be such a good movie. It's coming out in November. As if I'm sponsored by it. I'm like, check it out. Coming out in November. No, it's my all-time favorite. I mean, I know it's hyped up, but it's my all-time favorite.
Starting point is 00:28:01 No, I get it. It's the best one. What do you prefer? Do you prefer stage or film? You know, I really am 50-50 now. Like I think, I don't know. I feel like Descendants was a really great crossover of both worlds because it was like a musical movie, which I think is just so cool. Like, and so I think that was a wonderful blend of both worlds. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:23 There's nothing like doing it on stage and having like the live reaction from the audience. But the only thing about theater is like, once you do the show, it's like, there's nothing to show for it really. Like, it's kind of like you do the show and then it was for that audience and that audience alone. But like with a movie, like it's kind of with, with a movie, like it's really like a big movie.
Starting point is 00:28:45 It's like, it's really like a big movie. It's like, it's really like you have something to look back on and like I can show my kids descendants, you know what I mean? And I can't show them like me in a Broadway show, you know what I mean? So it is nice that I can like, and it's also,
Starting point is 00:28:57 there's such a wide reach with TV and film and stuff like that. Like family, like so far away can watch it. Like anyone can watch it. It's very accessible. So I do like that aspect as well. I far away can watch it. Like anyone can watch it. It's very accessible. So I do like that aspect as well. I don't know. It's 50-50 for me.
Starting point is 00:29:09 So you can put it. Did you ever get a professional recording done of like Les Mis or Newsies? No. There's not. I mean there's probably like archives of all Broadway shows. I think they like film most Broadway shows. Oh, okay. And you can go to like I think it's like Lincoln Center Library or some library.
Starting point is 00:29:23 You can basically like look up any Broadway show and see the archived footage of it. Oh, I didn't know. Yeah. Okay. So do they do it when there's no audience? Are they filming you when there's no audience? I think they do it with an audience,
Starting point is 00:29:32 but yeah. Like far away then? Yeah, I don't really even know. Interesting. But there's not really, there's not like a foolproof kind of thing. Yeah, I know. All the slime tutorials I used to look up,
Starting point is 00:29:40 but they really get those down now. Slime tutorials. If you know, you know. If you know, you know, If you know, you know. But they're so hard to find nowadays. Lincoln Center has a great – I think are they doing Legally Blonde and I think they're doing Hairspray this year. I think so, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Oh my gosh. I've got to go. That's what I've heard. Yeah, I know that. No, you should be in it. The Lincoln Center shows are so good. Like Falsettos was so good there. I saw it there.
Starting point is 00:30:00 It was amazing. So good. I feel like that's like another one where you could just like go in because it's not as big of a commitment. Yeah, yeah. For sure. Yeah. I just need a quick little a little stint a little stint in a show i don't know i miss it i really do miss it i would be the first to see you for sure because i saw you once live and that was little mermaid at the hollywood bowl i remember i literally remember seeing you front row with your sparkly hood on i literally remember that how it's like the hollywood bowl no you were on the front row with your sparkly hood on. I literally remember that. How? How? It's like the Hollywood Bowl. It's so bright.
Starting point is 00:30:25 No, you were front row. You were right there. I was like, can I? And I literally saw you right there. Wait, really? Yes. You were like, just like so locked in, like so locked in watching the show. That would be how I am for sure.
Starting point is 00:30:36 No, I remember seeing you. Oh my God. And I remember when you like, I don't know, you like posted something or you like messaged me. I don't even remember. I just remember seeing you. Probably messaged you right away. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I just remember seeing you and being like, that's literally Trisha right there. Wait, really? Even back? Yes. That was so long ago. That was probably like what, 2016 or something? Almost eight years ago. I'm an OG.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I'm an OG fan. That's wild to me because truly, truly you are someone that I would just like put up on a pedestal because you have all the talents. You're acting, singing, dancing. So the fact that you would even know, I'm just like, that was like so wild. I think you don't realize how many people know you. Like, that's so interesting. Like I, I've never said your name to someone and they've been like, who's that?
Starting point is 00:31:09 Like everyone knows who you are. Yes. Oh my God. That's so nice. I don't leave my house very much. I think it's a flow. I think it's like some people know, some people don't. But you know, that's actually probably good.
Starting point is 00:31:17 You know what I mean? Like keep it, keep it on the outside. But literally everyone I told that I was coming here, like all the whole descendants cast was like, oh my gosh, so excited. Like, oh my God, that gives me like so excited thinking about it. Like literally, no, literally everyone. Cause I was like up to you guys. I'm like watching. I'm just like like oh my gosh so excited like god that gives me like literally no literally you guys i'm like watching i'm just like oh my god who could i be in this descendants oh my gosh you could be anybody seeing you at day 23 i was like this is iconic putting that like coat back on and then all the outfits were you just like okay this is everything no i was so excited i was really just excited to make tiktoks with everybody like
Starting point is 00:31:40 literally i don't know like it's just so like there's really a bonding there's just such a wonderful thing about making art like with your friends like i just love that cast so much and every cast that i've gotten to work with like we have such a strong unique bond it's actually very similar to like musical theater like i don't know if you ever been in like a cast or anything like that never got casted casted, but not even ensemble. Well, it's never too late. But once you do, once you do, you'll, like, it's just so different than anything else. It's just, like, you guys are locked in.
Starting point is 00:32:13 You really become a family. And I just love all of them. Like, they really are the sweetest people ever. And then y'all are doing the same thing. You have the same goal. Yeah, and it's, like, such an interesting, like, we're just making, like, such weird memories together. Like, just, like, cool, like,'re just making like such weird memories together like just like cool like performing at d23 like things like that like you know running around disney world and things like that for work is like so cool so what do you guys do at disney
Starting point is 00:32:34 world what do you guys get to do for that we just did press like around like we there's basically there's like a lot of like posters and stuff up at disney world right now um so we just kind of like went and took pictures there and like also like we do a lot like like any of like the d23 or the vidcons are in anaheim which is where disney is and so whenever we do press there they always let us like go to the parks after we're done with work which is like like what a cool job like i'm feel so lucky do you go with a plaid with the like the vip yes oh how cool and that's kind of it's the only way to do it now like i'm like i wish i never did it because it's like you can't go back once you do
Starting point is 00:33:10 it you're like yes it's just it's such a cool experience like we went with like the percy jackson cast oh my gosh it's just so funny it's just like what am i right like what am i right now zombies come in no literally like hey god like like literally so interesting oh my god how cool so all the descendants are just like walking around disney with yeah no and literally like we were backstage and like corbin blues there and i'm like i'm like corbin i said corbin mother yeah and he was like oh my god he's like they've all just been so nice raven simone came up to me and she was like she was like i loved you in dead boy detectives i was like i was like you watched it's just so interesting
Starting point is 00:33:44 i'm like you don't really realize like all the people that you know are watching yeah are watching it's so interesting they're really disney channel we're talking about disney channel they're like the ogs but corbin blue is just at hollywood bowl too did you see him performing on every news yes yes yeah and goofy movie no i didn't get to go see it but i saw the announcement of that he played every single role like he did every single dis song ever made. And he deserves it. Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm like, he can do it. If anybody can do it, it's Corbin Bleu.
Starting point is 00:34:08 I kind of forgot how talented. And maybe Jordan, probably Jordan Fisher, too. Oh, Jordan Fisher. He's currently in Hades. He's so good. Like, literally the nicest guy, too. You know him, too. You know everybody.
Starting point is 00:34:16 I just know, because the internet, the internet is really such a powerful tool. Do you DM him? Like, it really is. Yeah, he, like, messaged me one day, and I was like, Jordan Fisher? I was like, Jordan Fisher? I was like, Jordan Fisher? No, he's actually the coolest guy ever.
Starting point is 00:34:28 I just can't wait to meet all these people in real life. They're all in New York. I'm like, I gotta go. Well, I guess they're all doing Little Shop.
Starting point is 00:34:34 That's the big stunt casting now. They're all doing Little Shop. If you need them, they're in Little Shop probably. Little Shop is kind of a... Can you do Little Shop? Yeah, absolutely. Whatever they need me for.
Starting point is 00:34:41 The plant, whatever. I'll do whatever. I do not care. Wait, they would definitely, I feel like, have you. You'd be a great audrey oh no well yes you suddenly see more than all the parts one time you could totally do i would love to be the dentist i think that would be the best role i think they should do a little gender swap that's it yeah that's that's your end yeah yeah i would love to wait you could totally do that see martin did it so i was like, I definitely could.
Starting point is 00:35:05 You know what I mean? Such a side. Like, you really could be in a show right now. If you really, really wanted to, you could. Ask your agent. I do have an agent now. Like you were saying, it's so hard to find an agent. It is, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:15 This year I signed with CA after 18 years of being in LA. I had no idea how you got an agent. And then one day, like, do you want an agent? I was like, yes. Have you told them that you want to do theater? Yeah, they're trying to work on it for me, but I think it's, you know. It's going to happen. I think the casting director of Little shop was like i this person's been
Starting point is 00:35:27 brought up to me many many times and i'm like so why okay so what are we gonna do here they said they were booked until 2025 for casting oh my gosh i'm sure i mean they're they have it on lock they really do have it on lock it's the girl from modern family and evan hansen's in there right now what is the one feldman yeah oh you see you know everybody. Icon. I mean, Sarah Hyland, Andrew Barth Feldman, yeah, they're killing it. They're iconic, so I guess to be like, I should be in it is a little strange. You should be in it. You're just as iconic. Seriously.
Starting point is 00:35:51 It's off-Broadway, right? It's not. I love it. I love the theater. Great production, too. And it's in a small theater. It's like 100 seats or something. It's just a little.
Starting point is 00:35:56 It's intimate. Love it. I love it. Would you go in it? Would you go in it as Seymour? I'd do Seymour. That's your perfect role, too. I would love to be Seymour.
Starting point is 00:36:02 So good. Iconic in so many ways. But when you did Hollywood Bowl, how do you even get that? Like, again, is that just an agent thing? Well, I worked with Alan Menken a bunch of times on like, I worked with him on A Bronx Tale. And so I was just kind of off the heels of that. So he's the one who like asked me to do it, which I was like, Alan Menken asking me to be in this. I was like, I'm there, of course.
Starting point is 00:36:23 Oh my gosh. That was like, that was my favorite experience. I think that I've done. It's just was such, it's so unique. And it was just, it really was magical. It was just like such a huge scale.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Oh my God. I'm like, that was the first time I ever, like you're just outside. Like, and just it's massive. And it was like my first time in LA and everything too. And it was just,
Starting point is 00:36:41 it was, yeah, it was really wonderful. And it's like summertime and it's a high bowl and everyone and everyone's excited i was like this is the coolest thing ever and i was alongside like john stamos john stamos rebel wilson sarah borellas oh gosh norm lewis all these darren chris yes no like these like iconic people and then i'm just there like hi like a little baby it was the cutest thing ever and you did get to work with rebel wilson so many years later i know and i know so that was so cool too do you have a bonding then with a cast that big like
Starting point is 00:37:07 you were saying you bond with cast like if they're all superstars are you bonding or is it a little harder we did we did for sure i mean norm norm you know norm lewis he was in like um he was like in phantom of the opera he he's he's an icon he's a broadway legend like seriously he was in like um the little mermaid he on broadway he was like the original King Triton. He's like huge in the Broadway community, but he was playing King Triton in this production and he was a Broadway guy and he was kind of the, he bridged the gap. It was like really sweet.
Starting point is 00:37:33 Cause I was like so nervous to go out to all these like huge stars. And so he kind of was like, I just recently done the Skylar sisters video, which was like that video of me. So he kind of like was like introducing me to everyone with that like he was like he was in this video and everybody was like like freaking out over that all the time so yeah and then i just kind of was like right in because of him and it was just so it was so so wonderful and rebel was so like rebel is like truly just so humble and
Starting point is 00:38:01 wonderful and so when i got to work with her like so many years later i was like she like remembered me it was just yeah it was just like really she's so wonderful yeah i love her i know when her book came out this year we were all about it i was like i'm team rebel all the way i love her so much no yeah and she's still so cool like i'm going to see a screening of her new movie that she just directed like she just invited me to that and like she really keeps in touch with everybody which is yeah it's like for such a huge star you're like you wouldn't expect her to be so kind and humble and generous like she really is so wonderful and like keeping
Starting point is 00:38:27 in touch with people too you were so good in senior year by the way I actually like live for that movie so much it was so good you got to recreate crazy by Britney Spears you were
Starting point is 00:38:35 one of the I was sing it I was crazy I'm so deep I'm excited I'm too deep I can't be crazy okay Britney Spears you know they're doing a biopic yeah I want to be Rosie O'Donnell in that I'm in so deep. I'm excited. I'm in too deep. I'm going to be crazy. Okay, Britney Spears. You know they're doing a biopic. Yeah, I want to be Rosie O'Donnell in that. I've casted myself already.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Like, put me in. I think Addison. I do dream casting all the time. I think Addison should play Britney. Okay. I would love to be Rosie. You should be Kevin Federline. Like, we got it.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Okay, I'm there. Let's do it. They should make a musical. They should make Britney a musical, which would be even more iconic, too. That would be great. No, have you seen MJ the musical? Oh, no. I've seen. I've seen. Because it won some Tonys, right? Yeah. Or maybe it just performed at the 20 words i saw clips of it looks so good yeah my friend my friend matt is in that
Starting point is 00:39:11 and i really want to go see him in it is it no is it like the story or is it like a jukebox musical where they just use his music i think it's it is his music but it's his story so yeah i guess technically is a jukebox musical but it's like all his music so i gotta get to new york because like all the musicals are closing let's go yeah like you and me like let's go moses too like let's all go i want to go so bad more than anything because rachel ziegler's in romeo and juliet yes i just met her in person the other day oh d23 sweetest ever like seriously so i mean she's killing it she's killing it actually killing it no just starring in every major franchise ever and now she should yeah like literally killing it isn't that insane too like i remember watching her doing her covers
Starting point is 00:39:48 on youtube like in 2015 i was like tweeting her i was like i love you so much and then to see her be like starring everything i think you're kind of like on you're like you know these people before they blow up like you seriously are on it well i think also too when they're just like so talented like you or rachel it's like obvious like it's like obviously they're gonna be humongous but i thought she was like so great i sent her a d DM the other day and I was just like um I love you so much and she wrote back and I was like you're just no she really is so she's so talented I'm so excited for Snow White yeah it's gonna be so good what do you think about that I think it looks great backlash oh my gosh I know I don't know anything any remake of anything even Descendants
Starting point is 00:40:19 like it just gets a lot of like you know skeptical people but once it's out and once you see it you're like I love this like Little Mermaid But once it's out and once you see it, you're like, I love this. Like Little Mermaid too. Like all of those. And that was such an incredible movie. Yeah. Oh yeah. The live actions have really like stepped up, I feel.
Starting point is 00:40:31 And I think Snow White will be good. I think it has like a lot of criticism, but I still am like Rachel's like, we're going to like sell anything. I'll be in the seat. I'll be in my seat. They always have something to say and then people are watching. Kind of like Descendants 4, right? I didn't know the lore behind it really, but I was like, okay, I don't really know this,
Starting point is 00:40:45 but I just saw all the clips go viral on TikTok and of course you being in it. So I was like, I got to watch this. But all the clips going viral, I was like, oh, it's kind of like iconic in that sense where it's like there's so many moments where it's like even hook, like the lines you have, people are like, oh, this is kind of everything. It gives very Captain Jack Sparrow too. Oh my gosh. That's a dream role.
Starting point is 00:41:01 I'm like, I feel like, I don't know if I could play another pirate in Disney, but I feel like my dream would be if they did like a prequel series of Captain Jack Sparrow. I would love to play that. I think they're doing something like that from what I've heard. I've heard of that. Austin Butler might be like in it too.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Not Captain Jack, but I think he is something in it. He would also be great. And I'm like, listen, if he wants to do it. But if they're going for a younger vibe, I'm like, I could totally do that. I would love to do that you give johnny depp too you give very young johnny depp 21 jump street yeah thank you have you met him johnny depp no i haven't yeah i think he's kind of iconic he's so iconic low-key musical too isn't he like in a band he's been in every movie musical right he's into the woods like he's in all of them. Sweeney Todd. Who was he in Into the Woods? Was he the animal? He was the wolf. Was he the animal?
Starting point is 00:41:45 Yeah. I'm really not going to Into the Woods trivia. See, that's where we differ. You love it? That's my favorite musical. I think I need to maybe see it live. I've only seen the movie
Starting point is 00:41:54 and I'm kind of like. I get it. Hey, I get it. Yeah, I get it. I get it. The movie is not. I love the movie personally. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:00 Shout out Lilla Crawford. But no, the musical, seeing it on stage is like a completely different experience. That's what I've heard because people kind of go wild for it. I love Sondheim. Stephen Sondheim, I love.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Yeah, anything. That's why I should see it because everyone's like, that's his classic. It's so good. So I probably need to give it a rewatch. I think James Corden, everything I've seen him in, like Cats and stuff like that. I like him. I like his musical. I like James Corden too.
Starting point is 00:42:19 But every movie I've seen has had him in it and it's been not great. Yeah, I know. They do put him in a lot. I don't know why. Is he just like famous? I don't know. I guess he's like the only outspoken like theater person. Like gosh.
Starting point is 00:42:31 No, that's what I loved is he did write for like musical theater on his show. They'd always do the crosswalks and stuff. And I was like, okay. No, hey. Yeah. I like James Corden. No, hey. I do too.
Starting point is 00:42:41 I don't know. I just, I know he got like a lot of hate in like the Cats movie. I loved Cats and then I saw the movie and I was kind of like, eh. That was a crazy movie. Even Rebel was like. She was iconic in it though. Yeah. I mean, it was like, like it or not, that was a moment in history.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Yeah. You know what I mean? That needed to be made. No, it was. And I do think that sometimes even those cat movies like Showgirls and stuff, they become like iconic later on. You know what I mean? I've never even watched Showgirls, but I hear so much about it.
Starting point is 00:43:03 Really? It's so good. Oh yeah. I mean, it probably it probably was before you were it literally was like 10 years before you're born oh my gosh which is like wild it's so crazy 2002 being like a millennial baby so you remember the turn of 1999 2000 because you weren't even alive everyone thought the world was ending oh my gosh that's scary i'm glad i missed that so growing up what were you into like were you into like other things besides musical theater like um hip-hop era no like it really was just really musical theater heavy yeah i don't know i've always just been in into that yeah so like were you but like tv shows like movies like i was really a disney channel boy really i mean i hate to be so repetitive but i really was
Starting point is 00:43:42 it was i was a disney channel boy My brother was a Nickelodeon boy. So like we kind of like both had our little our little things. And twin brothers. Is he in entertainment at all? He was on Broadway as well, actually. Isn't that crazy? Oh, my God. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:54 It was really insane how everything happened. Like he he does music production now. But when we were younger, like he was also auditioning for stuff just because he was kind of like, let's let's go. Like I'm here. I'm in New York. And so he was also auditioning for stuff just because he was kind of like, let's let's go. Like I'm here. I'm in New York. And so he was in Kinky Boots on Broadway. So he was young Charlie and Kinky Boots while I was doing Les Mis on Broadway. And we lived on the same street that both of our theaters were.
Starting point is 00:44:16 So like our parents would just like walk down the street and drop my brother Cam off at one theater and then me at my theater and then pick us up. Oh, my God. So crazy. Oh, my God. That's my dream life. Oh dream life oh my god I'm like let's go let's go do you do you ever have any like you know the childhood stars now there's like a lot of like bad stuff with like Nickelodeon and stuff like come out did you have any sort of uh maybe this wasn't the best time of my life or was it always just like great memories you know no it usually was all great memories. I think when my voice was changing, that was a little, slightly like traumatic just because not traumatic, but it was a lot for me
Starting point is 00:44:52 because you know, when you're like a theater kid, you're like, I don't want my voice to change. Cause then I can't like do all these parts. So I was like doing a Bronx Hill and like, I was like having to call out sick because I had like polyps like on my voice because my voice was changing and I was overusing it and things like that. So I think, you know, towards the end of my child like career or whatever, I was definitely getting like stressed because I was like trying to keep up with these high ranges that were out of my range. But overall, it was all magical and wonderful. Okay, so that's good. I always like to hear that
Starting point is 00:45:27 because I feel like, yeah, if my kids wanted to be like a performer, I'd be like, yeah, absolutely. No, of course, yeah. You really just have to listen to them. You know what I mean? Like if you do end up putting your kids in it, just like really just ask what they want.
Starting point is 00:45:36 And once it starts getting like, they're not having fun, it's like, that's time to pull the plug. Right, yeah. So you could, would you be open with your parents then? Like if you were like struggling, like, oh, my voice is changing.
Starting point is 00:45:45 I'm not like, were you just like, I'm open about it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They were always like, like when I, like, like you don't have to do this like at all. Like, but I wanted to do it. Like it really was such a cool experience. Like I love, I loved, I love my childhood.
Starting point is 00:45:59 Yeah. To say you were like a Broadway star throughout your adolescence is like actually insane, which is like so cool and so exciting. I feel like, yeah, i feel like all of that is just like a magical time i don't know it was so cool yeah it's like so neat we were talking about the hamilton where you did the gender what is that every year they do that where they do like genders what's it called it's called miscast so basically it's like characters and like broadway like parts that you wouldn't get to play yeah and so they do it with like all these broadway stars cynthia arriva was in it when i did it that year what was she performing she did
Starting point is 00:46:29 a piece of sky from yentl oh okay which was it was so good like actually otherworldly erin debate was in it gavin creel leia salonga like literally the coolest people i don't know i just literally can't believe my life sometimes when i look back i'm like these were the coolest people ever i mean you got to play skylar sisters you were angelica yeah which is like so iconic the other kids too they were familiar one was from school of rock yeah luca luca was in school of rock dougie was in kinky boots yes yes they were so good and the way you guys do at the end where it's like the greatest city in the world that part is so good for like little boys personally i hated that well i don't know i just don't think i did really good on that last note so good for like little personally i hated that wait really well i don't know i just don't think i did really good on that last note so if you watch that video just go ahead and skip
Starting point is 00:47:09 that last note you're so that's so crazy i don't know see that was up also a point where it was like it was nearing the end of my range so it was like i really had to find a good placement and i didn't a good place in every way and i didn't really eat that i thought it was iconic i thought hey you know what it It's so good. It's in the past, so there's nothing I can do now, but I love it, yeah. Yeah, no, I feel like that role was so cute.
Starting point is 00:47:31 And again, how do you get that? Who asks you? Bernie Telsey. He was the casting director for all these Broadway shows, and so he was just kind of like, he just called us and was like, do you want to do this?
Starting point is 00:47:40 And I was like, yeah, I would love that. Did you ever have to audition for him in person? Yeah, of course. Oh, really? Yeah, all the time. That was like, yeah, I would love that. Did you ever have to audition for him in person? Yeah, of course. Oh, really? All the time. That was my whole childhood, was auditioning for Telsey and Tara Rubin, all those people.
Starting point is 00:47:52 That would make me so nervous. I feel like, do you remember the show? You might have been too young. It was like 2007. Smash? Which one? Let's talk Smash. I'm obsessed with Smash more than anything.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Do you remember Legally Blonde, the musical Search for Outwards? Do you remember when they were casting? Yes, of course, the Search for Outwards. First of all, I love that you for all words do you remember when they were like yes of course the search fell would first i love that you like watched i feel like you probably were like joking no i watch it on youtube later oh yeah it's so good and bernie was like one of the judges on there i know and i remember being like wow that's like so scary to have to like audition in front of him oh my gosh i know you i think i was just a little like like i didn't really understand what was happening when i was a kid i was just like
Starting point is 00:48:23 kind of like the confidence was just through the roof. I was just ready to go. I was like, let me show my stuff. Let me show you. You were never nervous to audition. Not as a kid, but now,
Starting point is 00:48:33 now I'm like, Oh my God. Really? Yeah. But honestly, I think, I think nerves are important and they're actually so wonderful. Like anytime I'm nervous,
Starting point is 00:48:44 I just remind myself that I'm nervous for a reason and that something exciting is happening. You know what I mean? So I think you just, yeah, that's kind of, you use them. You're like,
Starting point is 00:48:52 okay, I can do it. Yeah. I saw something the other day that was like, you have to channel it into the character. You have to give the nerves to the character. And so I was like, all right.
Starting point is 00:48:57 I feel like any of my audition, my nerves just like make me crack. Like, and not even singing, just like speaking. Like even now, like I can like stutter sometimes I'm like nervous and excited. And I think it is like stutter. So I just don't think they work in my favor. Oh my gosh. I know. Sometimes they don't work, but sometimes you like, just, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:12 Sometimes I feel like I go to another place when I'm like, especially when I'm singing and stuff. I'm like. Wendy's most important deal of the day has a fresh lineup. Pick any two breakfast items for $4. New four piece French toast sticks, bacon or sausage wrap, biscuit or English muffin sandwiches, small hot coffee, and more. Limited time only at participating Wendy's Taxes Extra. Blackout. It's like, and then I just go, and then I'm like find myself at the end of the song and I'm like, oh, that was good.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Wow, really? It's so interesting. Yeah, it's almost like going disassociating or fantasy, yeah, like into another world. Exactly. Smash. I love that you said that okay how do you know this this came out like you're watching this after it's iconic yeah yeah okay so this was such a good show i love it so much it's coming to broadway it's coming to broadway which i think it's like january and i'm like again i'm like how can i can i produce it can i be in it
Starting point is 00:49:58 like what can i do you could definitely be in smash i've been trying to like produce anything because you know they have like 30 producers i'm like what can i do donate 25 that like what do you yeah no literally you could totally do that because then you can like get nominated for a tony if you like donate money as a producer i'm gonna get a tony award one way or another i've looked i've looked everywhere i'm not gonna get a tony nominee you should you should be in the broadway realm i really think you belong there you know so much about it you're such a fan like i think it's trying i'm trying to get in there it's gonna happen and then you're gonna people are gonna make edits of this video where it's like i can't wait to be on broadway and then going to happen. And then you're going to, people are going to make edits of this video where it's like,
Starting point is 00:50:25 I can't wait to be on Broadway. And then it's like, thank you for the hop or whatever the hell. You know what I mean? I like that. I do love a good edit. I love your edits. I see so many of your edits now.
Starting point is 00:50:35 See, that's something like I wasn't expecting when like, I mean, I kind of knew that was the thing, but I just didn't realize the amount that like, it's just edits and edits and edits and edits and like people shipping people.'s like so funny I love it though what do you think about that when people ship you yeah like let's like keep it going do you guys like because you know like British and a lot of these places like even you know when they promote a movie they have to like pretend to be
Starting point is 00:50:55 a couple did you guys ever try to do that oh my gosh you know not really no not intentionally but no but when we see stuff we're like let's play into it like it's like it's really fun and I don't know the love for everyone is so real that it's like, it's not like a lie. It's just like, I don't know. It's so fun. But I think I love the edits that are like shipping the characters mainly, though, because it's like that really could realistically happen. Like, I feel like, yes, like in the next movie, like the writers could be like seeing that
Starting point is 00:51:22 and be like, oh, you guys are onto something sometimes i see these plot lines that people are making and i'm like that's somebody writing this down like it's so good honestly like like trips me out because did he's right now there's a current one going around of tiana it was supposed to be the gelatin verse have you seen that i have seen that real or is that do you know it no i mean it is real it is it was real yeah i don't know there's lots of things story wise and like i don't really know how that got out there into the world so that was a real recording from it i mean i don't know if i should confirm or not but it's so good i mean of course it was incredible i don't yeah i don't. There's so many things that go into like the making of a movie.
Starting point is 00:52:07 Like things get cut, plots get cut, which sucks. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Dilettante Slays, but we all definitely want a Tiana verse in there. Number two. Let's get another one. I think it will for sure. It has to get another one.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Do you think you'll be asked to be back? Because you guys weren't descendants. You're like the original. So do you think you'll get to be back in it you know i would love that i really would i've got to see what the writers are saying um but i would love to go back i mean anything i would love to do anything with that cast again like seriously i think it'll happen do you think when people go in public do you find people coming up to you more now are they little kids yeah like there's a lots of people coming out weirdly i get recognized for that schuyler sisters video more than anything that's the thing i remember you from that's so it's still
Starting point is 00:52:48 the same yeah like people clock it i'm like all right yeah i'm like saying right now no but they're like i loved you in that video but yeah no i yeah i i mean i don't know it's always so interesting when people come up to you and they're like i've seen your work i'm like this is so interesting oh so they're always like it's never like little girls being like, I love you, marry me. Sometimes, but I'm like, I don't know. I welcome all of it. It's like a heartthrob vibe. I'm like, I love when people come up to me.
Starting point is 00:53:11 Do you like when people come up to you? Yeah, of course I do. I mean, sometimes I'm like just anxious and I don't know if they're going to like hate me or like me. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah, yeah. You know, because sometimes like I hate teenage boys more than anything. They're the ones that like will laugh at you. I'm like, oh, you know, like whatever.
Starting point is 00:53:21 So I get a little on edge sometimes. Yeah, yeah. But the nice ones, like the girls and stuff, I love. You're like you're like i love this yeah but if it's a guy and i can't tell they're straight or gay i'm just like immediately a little bit i'm a little scared yeah always because you know some people can be mean of course but yeah i think my whole life i just wanted to be like famous but i didn't have a talent like you so i'm like how am i gonna be famous not true yeah that's definitely true i definitely can't i don't have talent but i always wanted to be known and i think that's what's cool i think i feel like you found your calling with this podcast and things like that.
Starting point is 00:53:46 Like you really are such a great conversationalist and a wonderful host. I'm like, let's, let's bring the scale up. Like, let's keep it going. I would love, and I love, I think I just love meeting people. And I'm such a fan of like people who are talented. You know what I mean? So getting to meet like you or any, you know, it's just such a, it's a cool experience. And truly, truly like, since you're my first Broadway person here, I'm just like, how do
Starting point is 00:54:05 you do it? Let me know. Like, what's the secret, you know? But you're naturally born, obviously your parents are singers. So you were just like, have that gift. I guess. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:54:14 I love it. I mean, I feel like you have a gift too, though. You can't, it's all, it's, it's a gift. Well, I don't know what it is, but we'll find out. This is your talent. I swear. I really do like this. I think this is where I'm like staying in my lane for sure.
Starting point is 00:54:24 And I would love to just interview more Broadway people because I just think they're just like so fascinated and so great in every single way. Oh my gosh. But we didn't really delve into Smash. Favorite part, favorite characters. Oh my gosh. Why did you like it? Why is it not coming back for season three?
Starting point is 00:54:36 Oh, I don't know. See, I don't know about that. I really wish it was coming back for more. I think that was such an iconic. It was so iconic. They're so good. Ivy was my favorite character of course in broader and death becomes her i think yes megan hilty so good she's i mean
Starting point is 00:54:50 she's so incredible yeah no that was such a great show i re-watch it all the time do you ever see the memes they're like um are we really supposed to believe that there was like megan hilty versus katherine mcphee who should play marilyn monroe like both amazing no it's true it's true it's true she was she looked exactly like marilyn monroe i know megan hill i was always an ivy stand i mean anybody who really knows it you're like of course but catherine is it's so incredible waitress no was it on on broadway yeah she she was one of the like replacements for a jenna and she killed that oh my god i wanted to see it incredible oh my god it's kind of too early i feel no i I actually lived above, not to dox myself, but I used to live like above the theater. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:55:30 But I never saw it. Wait, really? No, which is really crazy of me. I watched Bootlegs, of course. Yeah. And they filmed it too, actually. So you could watch that if you wanted to. Wait, where was it at?
Starting point is 00:55:39 Where's it at? They filmed, I don't know. They just filmed a recording. I think you can probably just look it up. Oh, just like on YouTube? They were playing in movie theaters. They literally played in movie theaters. Yeah, I don't know. they just filmed a recording. I think you can probably just look it up. Oh, just like on YouTube? It was literally playing in movie theaters. Like, it literally played in movie theaters. Wait, really?
Starting point is 00:55:47 Yeah, I don't know. Who was the star, isn't it? The original cast? I think it was Sara Bareilles. It was Sara Bareilles, yeah. And the original Bach was in it, wasn't he? What's his name? Who played the little, like...
Starting point is 00:56:00 Oh, Christopher, I don't remember. Yeah, Christopher something. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, I remember, I remember. Okay, I love it. What's his name, Aki or something in the show? I don't remember, but remember. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, I remember. I remember. What's his name? Aki or something in the show? I don't remember, but I think I worked with him actually. I think I did.
Starting point is 00:56:11 I don't remember his name. I don't remember. I did an animated like series with him or something like that. Wait, what series? I don't think I've seen that. I don't think it got picked up. Oh, okay. I don't think it got picked up actually, but I did it, but I did that with him.
Starting point is 00:56:22 I feel voiceover work is definitely like something you should do. Oh my gosh. You do impressions. Like gosh you do impressions like i love it i literally i mean it's so fun i used to do so much when i was a kid it's really hard to break into though nowadays because it's like they use a lot of the same people like over and over again um but i would love to voice a disney character i would love that oh my god that'd be so yeah they do use like who's it james marsden who's like doing everything he He's like always everywhere. Yeah, he's in everything.
Starting point is 00:56:46 But you're kind of like in there too. Like you're in the like world now. Hit me up. You know what I mean? What was that big animation that like everyone on Broadway just recently did? It was like,
Starting point is 00:56:55 oh gosh, I can't think. Again, who's the guy who played like Jesse St. James on Glee? Like, oh God, he's in Spring Awakening.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Oh my gosh. He's so famous. I don't even remember. Wait, Jesse, who? You remember? He's so famous. He, Oh God, he's in spring awakening. Oh my gosh. I don't even remember. Wait, Jesse, who? You remember? He's so famous.
Starting point is 00:57:08 He's like Glee Michelle's best friend in real life too. Oh, Jonathan Groff. Jonathan Groff. Like he was a voice. It was like a big one. It's like Christian Borle. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:18 I don't know. Literally everyone on Broadway did this cartoon and it's really huge. It's kind of like an anime. Oh, it has been hotel. Yes. Yeah. Did you audition for that?
Starting point is 00:57:25 I didn't know, but I have seen like Erica Henning an anime. Oh, Has Been Hotel. Yes. Yes. Did you audition for that? I didn't. No, but I have seen like Erica Henningston and all of them are in it. Yes. Yes. Everyone. I feel like that sort of is your like. Oh my gosh. I'd love to do that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Where did the impression start? When? Why? And how? And what's your favorite? I don't know. I feel like I just kind of always like have been a little jokester, a little silly Billy. Really?
Starting point is 00:57:40 I didn't know that about you because you seem very serious because you're Broadway. Oh my gosh. I know. It's all a front. It's like, it's like, it's a lie. love how silly yeah no i really am i i'm so silly i just feel so stupid um no i don't know i just kind of always have been doing like random little voices and things like that just like for your family or friends just like just yeah for my friends like like i do like jennifer coolidge like all of that I do so many I'm like oh god you look like the fourth
Starting point is 00:58:06 of July that's so good hot dog real bad or like Elmo like hold on I think I could do Elmo but I'm gonna um um like I'm so happy you're doing this I'm Elmo like things like that I don't know they should cast you as Elmo the original Elmo is really dead yeah I mean it's been out since the 70s no I would love to do
Starting point is 00:58:32 like any anything seriously I think voiceovers like actors are so good the way they do their voice the way you just did it too like how
Starting point is 00:58:40 how cause that's my favorite thing on America's Got Talent is watching people who can like sing as different people oh my gosh and it's like, what is it?
Starting point is 00:58:46 Are you listening, hearing? How do you do it? I don't really know. I think it's just like, you're born with it. I was born with Elmo inside of me. I don't really even know. I just kind of do it. Like Jennifer Coolidge, one day you're just like, I think I'm going to try and do her voice.
Starting point is 00:59:00 Yeah, I'm just like, oh God. I don't know. You just kind of see it. People with such distinct voices like that are really like oh god like I don't know you just kind of see people with such distinct and like voices like that are really easy to create I don't know which is like crazy because most people would say no can you sing as different people I feel like I can sing as Elmo wait fish he's crying too that's almost thank you guys so much that's that's all for me
Starting point is 00:59:32 first of all those notes are actually so good that seemed like so high those seem like evan hansen notes oh my gosh could you imagine yeah i'm almost doing evan yes i could do that you know that i could do sesame street oh my god crossover that should be it wait Elmo is doing Evan? Yes. I could do that. That I could do. Sesame Street needs you. They're like, to do that.
Starting point is 00:59:45 Oh my God, crossover. Elmo goes to Broadway. That should be it. Wait, you're kind of onto something there. I feel like that would be it. And then you're the voice of Elmo,
Starting point is 00:59:52 which would be actually so good. Your cover songs are amazing. Go the distance. Yes. Oh my God. How old were you when you did that? Were you like? I think I was like 15,
Starting point is 01:00:02 16. Yeah. You had like glasses on, I remember. I know. I was in my little like Atlantis kind was like 15, 16. Yeah. You had like glasses on, I remember. I know. I was in my little like Atlantis kind of like era, Harry Potter era. People used to be like, Harry Potter, like yelling Harry Potter at me down the street. Wait, really? Because did you wear the glasses all the time?
Starting point is 01:00:14 I did. I wore those little round ones for a while. And then I was like, that's not the vibe. Wait, really? That's not the vibe. You could have played Harry Potter on Broadway. There was that. Oh my gosh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Maybe that was your like, but Go to the Disney Center, that was so good. That's coming to Broadway, Hercules. I know. Which is also at D23. I was like, who was it, Bradley Gibson or something playing Hercules?
Starting point is 01:00:32 Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They were performing at, I think it was Tiffany Man or something. Yeah. I saw them all performing. I was so, I just love Disney on Broadway. I really do.
Starting point is 01:00:42 That was so cool that they did that whole section at D23. I know. I was like, and then they announced more, I mean, that's where it's at, because it was so cool that they did that whole section at D23. I know. I was like, and then they announced more. I mean, that's where it's at. Because it is so good. What did you think of The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl? Did you see it?
Starting point is 01:00:51 I didn't see that. No. Did you see any clips online? I saw North. I saw North doing it. What do you think about that, just in general? Like people, the feedback people were giving? You know, I think let her live her life.
Starting point is 01:01:01 You know what I mean? I don't know. It's a kid. Yeah, it's literally a child. I don't know. I don't. It's a kid. Yeah. It's literally a child. I don't know. People who live in like that kind of like negative mindset. I'm kind of like, I don't, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:01:11 Haters are going to hate, I guess. I'm sure there were many of wonderful kids that could have done that. Yeah. But that's not the way the cookie crumbled. Yeah. I feel like it's kind of like the greatest showman, right? Like Cynthia would have been so great. Of course.
Starting point is 01:01:22 Of course. But you know, Zendaya is more of like a household name. Yeah. At that time now, ynthia yeah at the end of the day like as unfortunate as it's like it's show business show business so like at the end of the day it is a business and like these like companies need to make their money to like that's like the way they're gonna sell tickets and stuff like that um and you know same with greatest showman like that's how they thought they were gonna sell tickets so like that's the way it goes unfortunately yeah i feel that way too and i feel like yeah especially when
Starting point is 01:01:47 you're a kid you know it's like but northwest i think she had a slate honestly like that's what hey i was up i was living as someone who's not a broadway performer either i was like wish that could have been me you know what i mean oh my gosh you're like why didn't they cast me yeah i wish that was i was kim kardashian's kid because i would have slayed that too and even if i didn't sing i would have been like slaying it so hard. You know, she committed. You could do the Hollywood Bowl too. I know. Again, that one is huge celebrity.
Starting point is 01:02:09 Come on, no. I love that you are also casting me for all these parts. Thank you. I would love it. I don't know which role. I don't think I have like an ideal role, but I would love any of these, honestly. I really think my favorite one you've said is Little Shop of Horrors, and I think that needs to happen.
Starting point is 01:02:21 Oh my God, I would love it. I feel like that might be the most, maybe plausible. Oh yeah, maybe most attainable. Yeah. I don't know. I feel like you really don't understand your reach. I mean, I don't.
Starting point is 01:02:33 I think you really could be dominating these Broadway houses. Thanks. Okay, well, I'm trying. I'm trying to get out there. I don't know. I think a lot of them are like, yes, we've definitely heard about Trisha.
Starting point is 01:02:41 Oh my God. That's it, period. Yeah, we've heard of her. Yeah. We'll call you. They literally said that. They're like, no, we talked to the little chef and they're like, yeah, everyone's been telling us about her. Oh my God. That's it, period. Yeah, we've heard of her. Yeah. We'll call you. They literally said that. They're like, no, we talked to the little chef. And they're like, yeah, everyone's been telling us about her.
Starting point is 01:02:48 Oh my gosh. Well, if you don't want to sing, like I feel like a play, you could really do. I think acting is harder than pretending to sing. Really? Don't you think? Like emotion. You know, you're an actor. Like, don't you have to have like real emotion behind you?
Starting point is 01:02:59 I think if you just know how to speak in your own voice, which it seems like you do, then you're good. I don't know. I have faith. Hey, I have faith. I'm manifesting. I love that you have faith in me because honestly i don't know if i have faith in me oh i know i know what i'm like that's really exactly no i just feel in general like entertainment is hard and i think like you've definitely cracked it at 22 years old oh my gosh cracked it's hard i'm still like grinding in these auditions every time so do you that's what i was gonna ask yeah
Starting point is 01:03:24 of course oh my gosh it never it really never stops like off one project onto the next like just really trying to like stay busy it's it's really hard but um it's rewarding when you finally get to do what you love yeah that's amazing and you're out here now in la full time i am yeah yeah yeah when did you move when you do the move from new york i moved here like two years ago yeah oh by yourself at 20, my whole family's here too. So it's like, I don't know. It's like, we love LA too. Really?
Starting point is 01:03:48 I love it here. Yeah, I always thought I was going to be like a New York boy like my whole life. But I don't know. LA's got a good little vibe to it. Like it really does. I love LA too. The weather.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Yeah, it's great. It's cute. Yeah, the theater of course is not the same as. Would you ever live in New York? Yeah, if I was on Broadway. Yeah, probably. Yeah. I new york only for broadway like i've actually never seen anything else i've always stayed like at the w in times square next to winter garden like anywhere i can just see plays that's all i've gone for i've never gone for literally anything else oh my gosh well yeah i feel like you should have your new york moment i would love it but people are gonna like punch in
Starting point is 01:04:22 the face now down there did you see that on t TikTok? I have seen that. It's unsafe. Like women too. Yeah. No, it's scary. It's actually crazy. I wonder if that like happens or it's just like you hear on TikTok so you think it happens more than it does or it is happening. I feel like it's probably happening low key.
Starting point is 01:04:34 I don't know. Hopefully it's calmed down now. But I was seeing a, it was like a, it was a thing for a minute. Yeah. Where like a guy was just like punching a woman in the face. I think Sibu Shemi got hit, punched in the face. Oh my God. Oh, it was Rick Moranis got punched in the face recently.
Starting point is 01:04:45 Isn't that crazy? That is crazy. He was on this video surveillance. He's like 70 years old now and someone just like punched him in the face. That's awful. Pepper spray. Gotta have your pepper spray. Do you carry it?
Starting point is 01:04:55 I don't. I should practice what I preach probably. Pepper spray would be the one. Yeah, I think New York would be fun. It would be a vibe. It'd get a lot of walking. So I feel like I'd be a lot more fit. Oh my gosh. Like tons of walking. It would be a vibe. It'd get a lot of walking, so I feel like I'd be a lot more fit. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 01:05:05 Like tons of walking. There's no walking here. Yeah, driving everywhere, which is like, you know, kind of a slay, but I like to walk. Me too. New York is just so, like, the energy there is like palpable. Like seriously, like when you're walking around the streets, you're like, New York, New York. Like, I don't know. Like, you're just literally like, I get it.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Like, I get what they're saying with the movies and everything. Like, they really paint it out to be bad. Are you living in a little, you know those ones that live in microscopic apartments that are like $3,000? Oh, in New York? Yeah. Yeah. Was that what you guys were doing? Basically, yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:34 It's like, I don't know. It's really crazy. No, to make a living out there is insane. And even the Broadway paychecks, they're not all that. Everyone all that seriously that's a broadway star is like doesn't make money no no it really is because they love it it's like they'll just do the do it because they love it yeah people i know who've gone as like a stunt cast they're like i literally paid to be in it because they get such minimum that they had to like pay all the rent and everything no it's it's it's rough yeah yeah i mean i would definitely be in films where it's at when it comes to the coins, for sure.
Starting point is 01:06:05 That's good. And you're doing it full time. I am, of course. Yeah. I mean, I would love to be doing it more. If you are interested in casting me, I'm available. I feel like you're casted in every single thing. I've been seeing you everywhere.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Oh, my gosh. Well, Instagram's just such a highlights kind of thing. You know what I mean? Like, you see all the... But it's like, if you saw the thousands of auditions I do, it's like, you'd be like, what is going on? I would love to see that. That's tiktok trend have you seen it where they do a chorus line i'm gonna get it it's like what you auditioned for what you got yeah i'm gonna get it no i would i would take too long i don't think there are videos long enough i would love to know like what you
Starting point is 01:06:38 auditioned for what you got oh my gosh have you ever auditioned for something big like a bigger role and took a smaller one or they gave you a smaller one? Or have you always got the big roles? I mean, if I've got it, it's usually the part that I've auditioned for. Oh, so you can do that trend and just nail every single one. Like, got this, got it. I hope I get it. I hope I get it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:54 And just being like this. There are some I see where everyone's like, I auditioned for Elle Woods and got nothing. Or got them. Oh my gosh, yes. That'd be me for sure. Like, auditioned for this, nothing. Oh my gosh. So you should definitely do that trend.
Starting point is 01:07:04 Especially because with movies and stuff like Wicked, I mean, that's like, you didn't get to audition. Unreal're like, audition for this, nothing. Oh my God. So you should definitely do that trend. Especially because with movies and stuff like Wicked, I mean, that's like, you didn't get to audition. Unreal. Yeah, wild.
Starting point is 01:07:10 I know, I know. I feel so lucky. Any opportunity that I get to even just be seen, I'm like, this is such an honor. Seriously.
Starting point is 01:07:17 What do you, what is more, what do you think you get recognized more for? Your roles or TikTok? Probably my roles. Oh really? Yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:24 which is nice. i've actually only just started on like making tiktoks and stuff like that um they're getting like seven million views that's good thank you thank you descendants thank you mickey no they're yeah it's incredible i've been i've been going live every once in a while but i got banned because they thought it was a child which is crazy so tiktok if you're listening, please unban me. Wait, that's crazy. You can't go live. Not for a minute, I guess. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:07:48 Oh, my gosh. But no, TikTok's so fun. I mean, it's just like, I remember just being on set and being like, gotta stockpile these for when the movie comes out. I wondered how that worked. Because you'll always see Bridgerton doing the dances. I'm like, were they filming this before? Did they go back in costumes and do it again? Yeah, well, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:03 I was just getting everything ready for when the movie came out. And no, it's so fun though. Like I know those are the videos that I love seeing on my page, like behind the scenes, anything. I'm always like, yeah. So I was like, I just got to give the people what they want. You behind the scenes doing the choreography. It's the Uliana like breakdown where you're like Uliana and then like going, it's like
Starting point is 01:08:22 so cool to see you guys in like regular clothes. Oh my gosh. I know I think you were rehearsing with someone who wasn't the actress who played Julianna with someone else but just like seeing you
Starting point is 01:08:28 in like regular clothes being like cook is like I love watching those too like anything no I love it I love any sort of behind the scenes stuff
Starting point is 01:08:34 like it's so cool like how does it get me like Bridgerton too when they're like in normal clothes and I'm just like oh my god like it's so cool
Starting point is 01:08:40 like they're wearing Back to the Future shirts or something and it's like oh that's actually so cool no it's crazy no we actually recorded a lot of like behind the scenes like videos and stuff like vlog type of things.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Really? So maybe we'll end up putting those out too. Are you allowed to like whenever or do you have to like get it approved by someone? Honestly, like you do have to get it kind of approved to an extent. Like I feel like the cast kind of knows the limits of like where to push it and things like that. But no, like Disney's been like really cool and like lenient with like us posting stuff. Some things though like that are like leaking and stuff. I'm like really cool and like lenient with like us posting stuff. Some things though, like that are like leaking and stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:06 I'm like, how are those getting, how is that getting out there? That's wild. I have to think maybe they've leaked it like on purpose, right? To, I don't,
Starting point is 01:09:13 because how else would they get it? I really don't think so, but whatever. They're, if they're cool with it, I'm cool. I love it. Cause people are doing like animations to it.
Starting point is 01:09:20 Oh my gosh. Yeah. Really? Cause they, you can see Tiana and one of the descendants, like kind of in the background. I was like an adult. I forget which one, which one but i was like oh that would make sense for her to like be in that world too yeah which is you know a whole thing but i don't know hopefully
Starting point is 01:09:31 next movie what would if you weren't hook who would you be playing or who would you want my gosh any gender um i feel like red's a cool part yeah red is i mean i don't know like it just her songs that she gets to sing are like so good and k. And Kylie, but, I mean, I say that, but then I'm like, no one could do it better than Kylie. Like, seriously. No, they were all so good. They're so talented. That's, like, what's so crazy. It's like, how are people so talented?
Starting point is 01:09:53 And they're actually very young. Like, and also, like, I say this all the time, but I think they're such great role models for kids and adults that are watching the movie. Like, they're really just the sweetest people on the planet. Like I love them so much. Yeah. I think that's the best when you hear that is like they're wonderful people too. No, literally.
Starting point is 01:10:10 And I've experienced that with almost every cast that I've, every cast that I've been a part of. I've like, I've made my best friends from Avantika. Like, like everybody like that. She's blown up so big now. Oh my gosh, I know. Which is crazy after like Mean Girls. No, I know.
Starting point is 01:10:21 And you're just like, oh my God. She's killing it. Seeing her in senior year, I was like, wait, she like really like blew up. I mean mean there's certain people that i'm always like that's a star and avantika is like for sure like she's a star i don't know there's no other thing she should definitely be rapunzel she's like the front runner on tiktok as seen just over and over i love it to be so good because i'm down i'm like i'm so open anything any my friends being successful in any way i'm like let's do it yeah oh i love that that brings like good energy to
Starting point is 01:10:44 you too oh my gosh yeah be excited for it you know what i mean and all of it and i love maybe it's you though that get along with everybody do you know what i mean because like not everyone can be like i love the cat look at that ends with us people you know like oh my gosh like everyone's like unfollowing each other so maybe it's just like you being sweet to everyone i don't know yeah i don't know you've got to come with positive energy but no see like the whole cast gets along though like like really like i don't know the dynamics are really incredible i think there's like some sort of magic in in the casting because even like avantika and i played best friends and then they were like we were like wait yeah we're actually besties i think we're actually best
Starting point is 01:11:17 friends you can tell you could you could like sense it too on screen you're like oh my gosh like i love that like connection i literally love it everyone loves you too like all of my friends were so like really just so excited that I was coming here. My friend Jules, my friend Austin, my friend Vasili. Literally all of them were so excited for you to be. Everyone loves you, Trisha. Seriously. You are hyping me up way too much.
Starting point is 01:11:36 Because that's wild to hear from you. I really do think of you. And everyone. All these people you're naming are huge stars. And they're the new stars, right? So whenever you're someone that's been around and older, you're like, oh, my god. These new're naming are huge stars. And they're like the new stars, right? So whenever you're someone that's like been around and like older, you're like, oh my God, these new stars, like know who I am. Like that's great.
Starting point is 01:11:48 When I saw Ruby, they commented, I was like, what? Oh my gosh. I can't wait to show her this. Maybe we'll FaceTime her after the podcast. You have to see that. We have to do, what TikTok are we doing? Oh my gosh, we got to do some. I never ask a guest to do a TikTok because I don't want to like waste their time and
Starting point is 01:11:59 I don't want to waste yours, but I'm also like. No, we have to. We got to. We'll think of some. Which I was like saving some of them. There was a high school musical that. Let's do do it but i feel like maybe you should be the sharpay they're like imagine having everything we'd ever dreamed don't you want it kind of can you see it maybe imagine first audition after college i get to leave apart from me well of
Starting point is 01:12:17 course you gotta believe it you and i are the fame sharpay and what's his name it's not exciting inviting let's do it then we're just like musical theater babies i made him memorize that whole thing i'm like i because i don't have anyone to ever play with me like this ever well can i just say even that little that little thing you just gave that was very on pitch trisha wow that was very that was right on the it was right on the money hey we're making history today yeah there was the one of i think one of the last christine's on phantom before it closed she was doing this challenge where i was singing a fan of the opera and she was trying to like change keys with me she's like let me see if i can like harmonize the different like time she's changing that's so funny she was so great i was so excited
Starting point is 01:12:57 once again seeing someone like as christine doing this i was like oh my gosh so good phantom is a show that i wish i could play but like oh my oh my God, I could never. Why not? Could you do an opera? You probably could. I feel like I could do like a Raoul moment or even Phantom. I think you could do Phantom. Night, I was lonely. Well, in sensation.
Starting point is 01:13:16 Touch it, feel it. I just love anything. That's so good. I love Phantom. Oh my God, I don't even want to cry. Like seriously, that's what I love about musical theater. Like I truly like cry sometimes when I see shows and I'm like, oh my God, why am I crying? This is like so stupid. No my God, it made me want to cry. Like seriously, that's what I love about musical theater. Like I truly like cry sometimes when I see shows
Starting point is 01:13:26 and I'm like, oh my God, why am I crying? This is like so stupid. No, wait, really? There's something in it. There's something in it. And your voice is like that.
Starting point is 01:13:32 When you've been singing, now I'm just like, oh my gosh, you're the sweetest ever. The only other person who I got to sing with me was Donny Osmond. Well, that's a really great one.
Starting point is 01:13:39 He sang Joseph and I was like crying. I was just like, we were singing Joseph together and I was just like, this is the moment. I was like so excited. Make it happen. Oh my God, it was the coolest thing ever and I feel like he was guest was just like, we were singing Joseph together. And I was just like, this is the moment. I was like so excited. Like, it's happening.
Starting point is 01:13:45 Oh, my God. It was the coolest thing ever. And I feel like he was guest on on Beauty and the Beast. So like one of those things, I'm just like, wow, this is. He was guest on? Yeah. On Broadway? Yes.
Starting point is 01:13:54 Oh, OK. It was in the revival. Oh, yeah. Not like in the movie. I was like, he voiced. Who was that? Luke Evans? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:01 There's so many Lukes. But I don't know. Is it Luke Evans? It is, yeah. OK. Because I just saw him and Hugh Jackman doing a guest on off. Did you ever see that? It was recent. It was on like the Graham Norton show. yeah yeah yeah yeah there's so many lukes but i don't know is it it is yeah okay because he i just saw him and hugh jackman doing a guest on off did you ever see that it was recent it was on like the graham norton show and they both were singing guest on i love that yeah you'd be a guest
Starting point is 01:14:13 you're locked in you're locked in i think if i was in descendants i would want to be a haze oh my gosh in the haiti's line yeah he's kind of iconic well literally the line is that what you said the one line no the family line the hades family line or would you be hades you are hades hades and the descendants for that's why i thought he was kind of great i was like he looks a little more mature and i was like oh that could be maybe my role that could be you cheyenne jackson played it in the in the last movie yeah he was great so good yeah i liked i liked the hair i liked everything like that i thought he... I just think the whole Descendants line is fun and I love that you would
Starting point is 01:14:46 play other characters. Oh my God. You could totally be in it. I see it happening. Tell the casting director. Tell the director. Maybe you could be Charlotte from Princess and the Frog.
Starting point is 01:14:57 She's like... Yeah, maybe I'd be a real mom or something. Maybe I'm like her mom. I think that's the whole thing, right? The older people play parents. I guess. You're not old, Trisha. I definitely am like Rita Ora's age for sure. I don't think that's the whole thing, right? The older people play parents. I guess. You're not old, Trisha.
Starting point is 01:15:06 I definitely am like Rita Ora's age for sure. I don't think that's like old, but I think I could have. Well, you could be a mother then. Yeah. I'm an actual mother, so that would make sense. You are. You're like, I have experience. Did you get to be on set when Brandy was there?
Starting point is 01:15:17 I didn't. I saw her on set. I didn't want to bother her flow, but I saw her at the premiere and we got to talk for a while. She hadn't seen the movie like before. I had seen had seen it and then i was like you haven't seen the movie yet it was like at the premiere that she was seeing the movie but she was so sweet and so was rita aura and so was china like they were all like so wonderful and humble and like sweet like i really just feel so lucky that i've like all these like incredible celebrity people that i've
Starting point is 01:15:43 gotten to work with have been like truly they've met all the expectations, if not exceeded them. I mean, that's amazing, because Brandy is, like, legendary as Cinderella. Like, legend. Did you see her as Roxy Hart? Not to bring it back to musical theater, unfortunately. Of course. I thought she was here at the Pantages as Roxy Hart. No way.
Starting point is 01:15:55 Yeah. So, I don't know if she was, was she on Broadway? She might have been. I don't know if she was on the tour or just here in LA. And she was, like, riffing. And she was, like, adding, like, it started with a bang. Like, when she was adding all that. Yes.
Starting point is 01:16:04 This was, like, 2015. So, maybe around the time of the Hollywood Bowl. Yeah. Like, maybe it was that time. riffing and she was like at like it started with a bang like when she was adding all that yes this was like 2015 so maybe around the time of the hollywood bowl like maybe it was that time and i remember seeing it and just like literally also crying again because chicago is known for putting like bad singers in there like you know not no you know like kuba gooding right right right you know lisa rena you know erica j you know whatever they're all great yeah iconic would love to be in it because i think you know you can just anyone can play roxy at this point you know why can't you play rock yeah exactly well because i saw brandy and i was like i can never do it because she was the one roxy who was like actually like oh my god she sings yeah no she was singing because i think
Starting point is 01:16:30 velma does most of the singing and then like roxy you know you can kind of fake it yeah but just like i would love to do too you know what i mean you could do it they would totally have you you've seen the show then you've seen it i've seen clips i actually haven't seen it in person but i've seen slime tutorials i've seen slime tutorials i think that might be the longest running show right now on broadway i think so yeah it's phantom clothes i know rest in peace yeah which is like wild because that show was like the show everyone went to go see so um yeah chicago but brandy oh my god like in chicago like one of the best things i've ever seen in my life like unreal she's so talented and she's so she really is like when you're talking to her you're like you're a goddess like she really is
Starting point is 01:17:09 such like a warm like calm energy like she's just so yeah so cool and I love that you can appreciate that because she's so like for us millennials like she was everything like Moesha and stuff like was our thing but then it's like for you to also understand like what a legend no she's such a legend she like carries on and Rita Ora we watch what is the show we watch the mass singer i like oh my god she's on yeah first of all didn't really know she was a singer actually i had no idea and then i was like a gorgeous singer i think that's what she's like known for like that's her thing she like she just started acting like seriously because i saw her in descendants and i was like oh my god it's a girl from mass singer lover on there and i was like oh she sings like so good yeah she's great
Starting point is 01:17:44 oh my god she's so good all the stuff i find out and i'm like oh my my God, it's a girl from Massinger. I love her on there. And then I was like, oh wait, she sings like so good. Yeah, she's great. Oh my God. She's so good. All the stuff I find out and I'm like, oh my God. It makes me feel old because I'm like, God, I just don't keep up with like singers. Oh my gosh, no, you're more tuned in than most. What is your number one like Disney royalty legend that you haven't met that you would like to meet?
Starting point is 01:17:57 Oh my gosh, Disney royalty legend? Oh, I don't even know. They can even play like one part. It doesn't have to be a legend. It could be. Yeah, no, honestly, I feel like I would love to meet Jonathan Groff. I think he's so talented. No, I've never even know. They could even play like one part. It doesn't have to be a legend. It could be. Yeah. No, honestly, I feel like I would love to meet Jonathan Groff. I think he's so talented. No, I've never met him.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Anybody. Like, I don't even know. I'd love to meet Halle Bailey who played, you know, I don't know. There's so many. There's so many incredible. I love the way they use a lot of Broadway people in Disney too, which I think is so cool. I didn't know. Like, I didn't know when you said Frozen.
Starting point is 01:18:24 I was like, wait, who was he in Frozen? How did I not know this? Kristoff? He was literally Kristoff. Like, the whole voice? Like, the talking and singing? All of it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:30 I had no idea. Jonathan Groff is Kristoff. And Idina Menzel is Elsa. It's iconic, though, too. She is Adele Dazeem. Like, that's crazy. I wonder how he got it so wrong. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:18:40 I don't know. Because usually they have pronunciation. And he said, Adele Dazeem. She does that in her concert. She's like, before she sings Let It Go, she does a whole bit about Adele Dazeem. I love that. I love when people can play into the joke. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:54 She's like, I have to just own it at this point. Is she on tour? She has residency or something now. I keep seeing clips of her live. Yeah. She must be doing some concert tour somewhere. I would love to see. We were talking about her before the podcast, Ben Platt.
Starting point is 01:19:04 I saw him live and I was like, amazing. Ben is incredible. He was doing, I think, a little bit of residency, like a couple weeks at the Regency. Yeah, at the Palace. Palace, yeah. And he was like bringing up everyone. Oh my gosh, yeah. Gaten, everybody, Rachel, all of them.
Starting point is 01:19:17 Gaten did? What did he do? They did Agony from Into the Woods, your least favorite. Why didn't he ask you? I mean, Gaten, I was like, you guys are going to switch gonna switch the roles hey maybe next time he's literally the coolest ever though oh my god i like love him yeah when i got to meet him after i was like he's my absolute favorite he's the coolest ever and he's like super cool to talk about evan hans like he's probably like over people be like okay stop i'm not evan hansen but like that's all
Starting point is 01:19:39 i want to talk about and he was like totally he's totally down no he's the coolest yeah the movie i love too i know i got like a lot of hate and i was like love the movie my guys wasn't in it but you know oh my gosh i know probably doing west side story yeah yeah he's busy he's busy did you see challengers oh my god i think that's where like my research is oh yeah yeah like with him came i was like i liked him since the beginning i clocked it too i was like i had shoes with him on it like back in 2017 like i loved even from like newsies i remember when he was like in newsies and yeah he wasn't like a lead but he definitely was like a he was like one of the villain boys yeah yeah he was yeah one of the lancy brothers yeah that's what it was so he was like pretty big and
Starting point is 01:20:12 i was like i'm gonna live for this guy he kills it yeah every time i like love him um and said he wasn't in the movie but you could have been you could have definitely been a connor murphy too i feel i would love to do i would have loved to do it. I don't know. Just, I'm tired. I was tired. I was like, you guys take this one. You take this one. I'll see you on the next round. Would you ever do a solo show?
Starting point is 01:20:32 Would you ever do like a tour? Oh my gosh, for sure. Yeah. I actually want to start releasing music, like actually as like an artist, I guess. Wait, really? Do you write? Are you writing songs? I do.
Starting point is 01:20:41 I write songs. I've been writing music with my friend Jules Brave. Shout out. Oh my gosh. She and I have been like working on my music i mean i write songs on my own but the i think the first one that i want to release is one that i wrote with her um it's definitely like sad boy vibes which is interesting because i feel like i'm such a happy person in life yeah that the only way that i let out my like sad emotions is through music and stuff so definitely like sad boy vibes um but yeah like emo like emo or like is it more indie
Starting point is 01:21:12 like sad i don't know if you know ryan baity or like lizzie mccalpine like those kind of vibes like just very like sad slow indie vibes but weirdly enough though like i've been watching more concerts and like people are doing like upbeat songs and i'm like that looks so fun to perform that like maybe i'd want to do that too i don't know yeah that's so interesting because that's so different than what i thought i thought you were gonna be like a pop boy or something like justin bieber oh my gosh i would love it like a little r&b moment yeah um yeah i don't know i think the sad boy vibes though yeah i'll play you some stuff it's cute it's cute yeah Have you put anything out there? Like any clips, snippets? Um,
Starting point is 01:21:48 I put a couple stuff on Tik TOK of like my songs, um, which, and, and people seem to like it. So it was good. I don't know. It's a very niche, like,
Starting point is 01:21:54 I don't know. I don't feel like everybody's always like down for like the sad, like kind of vibes, but I just love it. Like, I just love, like, I just love a cool,
Starting point is 01:22:02 like a ballad. Oh, honestly. To make you like, just like want to be sad at something, put something on. Yeah, exactly. I think sad songs do the best. They do.
Starting point is 01:22:09 Because very rarely do you want to be like, I want to hear a love song. You're like, I want to hear something sad. Yeah, I want to hear, I want to rip my fucking heart out. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like that. And I think that is like definitely a vibe because it's so different than your Disney puppy persona.
Starting point is 01:22:19 For sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. Oh my gosh. And I feel like, what would your artist, like artistry be like if you did a music video? Are you doing like sad vibes? Oh my like black and white yeah like yeah that is the vibe for sure oh my gosh and would you go with just do it independently or would you want to be
Starting point is 01:22:32 with like a record label i mean i'd love to be with a record label but maybe i'd probably just do it independently from the start like just kind of starting off there um yeah i don't know i it's like a whole other world that i haven't even like really explored but like I started out singing so I feel like it's only natural for me to try and delve into that part I feel like that's always been something that I've just kind of like kept to myself for so long but like I feel like I'm ready to start sharing
Starting point is 01:22:56 some music I love that I think it's a good time for you to do it because people just all eyes are on you and they're like oh my god what else does he do you know what I mean oh my gosh I hope I hope I have the attention and you're like everybody loves you if you weren't doing entertainment what would you be doing oh my gosh you know like i it's really hard to say like anything i it's i still would want to be in the arts like i feel like directing and writing and stuff i still want to do all of that you're, there's no backup option where you're like an accountant or anything. No, I don't think so. I really don't think so. Like,
Starting point is 01:23:28 no. I don't know. What about you? Um, I kind of, yeah, I had no backup plan either. I didn't go to like college or anything. Except this works out. Yeah. I was like, thank God. You know what I mean? Thank God for social media because we did not have social media as a kid. So I'm like, thank God this happened, but I actually don't have a backup plan either so I don't know. That's okay. Hopefully it just works out for a very long time.
Starting point is 01:23:48 Fingers crossed. Or save money, you know? Now I should save money. Are you saving your money? I am, yeah, yeah, yeah. You have to be good with it. You gotta be good with it.
Starting point is 01:23:55 I know, I feel like everyone in their early 20s, especially like influencers, they get all this money but then spend all the money and then it's like, I think what you have is like lifelong,
Starting point is 01:24:03 like you can sing anywhere, anything, you can literally anywhere anything you could literally do anything but i think that's important to save i didn't save for most of my life and i was like oh like you know when stuff when you have those dips that like yeah need to save money for no it happens quick like i don't know it's just like it's hard out here in these streets it really is but you know what as long as you have family and friends that's all that really matters right i love that yeah and like passion and you have passion and friends, that's all that really matters. Oh, I love that. Yeah. And like passion and you have passion and you still love to like.
Starting point is 01:24:25 Yeah, exactly. And when you love to do what you do, I feel like then you're like set. It doesn't even feel like work. Yeah. Yeah. Would you ever do like, if you like, again, if you weren't like entertainment, like Broadway, would you ever do like cruise singing or anything like that? Sure.
Starting point is 01:24:36 Why not? I love cruise singers. I love it. So much. Like they do like full on, like they'll do, you know, what, like hairspray in like 20 minutes or grease in like 20 minutes. And I'm like, I love when they do those like little fun shows. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:24:49 I would love to do that. That was always like a dream too. It's just like going on a cruise and just sing every day. Oh my God. I know. I know. I'm like Disney cruise. Like, let's do it.
Starting point is 01:24:56 Like, do they have that? Disney cruise? Yeah. Yes. Oh my God. What does that mean? A Disney cruise? It's like Disney cruise line.
Starting point is 01:25:03 Oh, okay. I was like. Yeah. It's like, it's like all, it's like it's like all it's like a whole disney themed cruise and like they have like tangled with they just did tangled like live as a musical like on on yes how how because there's no like live version of tangled right well they did they made one oh yeah and they filmed it too so you can go on youtube so are they just using songs from the movie then yeah it's all songs they added some new songs alan mankin wrote some new ones for this cruise for the cruise show
Starting point is 01:25:28 yeah oh my gosh flower of gold that's the new song that they added for that how does it go do you know it's like flower of gold flower of gold and the others one is like flynn rider wanted man like everybody's singing what no it's hercules the muser singing there oh my gosh like literally like is giving that vibe. Whoa. Yeah. I love when they add like that's my favorite. It's like seeing Disney on Broadway when they add the songs.
Starting point is 01:25:49 Like. Oh my gosh. What's the Aladdin one that's so popular it's not in the movie? These Palace Walls or which one? Proud of Your Boy. Oh. Well, that was from the original movie. That was supposed to be in the movie and then they never ended up doing it.
Starting point is 01:26:00 Wait, how do you know this? Did Alan tell you this? No. It's like it's a known thing. Wait, really? That's my favorite song. That's my go-to karaoke song, Proud of Your Boy. Oh my God, it's so good. Can you give us a little?
Starting point is 01:26:09 Sure. Yes! No, don't make me say it. First of all, I love you for doing it, because no one will do it. Oh my gosh, sure, why not? Thank you. Proud of your boy. I'll make you proud of your boy.
Starting point is 01:26:20 Believe me bad as I've been, ma. You're in for a pleasant surprise I've wasted time, I've wasted me So say I'm slow for my age, a late bloomer, okay I agree that I've been one rotten kid Some sun, some pride and some joy But I'll get over this lousing up, messing up, screwing up time. You'll see my now comes the better part.
Starting point is 01:26:52 Someone's going to make good, cross his stupid heart. Make good and finally make you proud of your boy. Oh, my God. That was awesome. Moses, too. Thank you, Moses. Oh my god! That was awesome. Moses too. Thank you, Moses. Oh my god. No, that's,
Starting point is 01:27:09 I literally love that song. That should have been in the animated movie. I'm like, literally, I don't think I've ever been like more like nervous, excited, happy, all in one.
Starting point is 01:27:16 That was like so beautiful. You're the sweetest ever. I'm like, that's cringe to sing, but I had to do it. Patricia paid it. What Patricia says goes. I feel like I'm having a private concert right now and it literally gave me chills. So
Starting point is 01:27:30 good. Your voice is such a gift. Thank you. The fact that I got to meet you and just realize how amazing you are too and humble and sweet. It's actually, wow.
