Starting point is 00:00:00 So I don't think it was meant for me. I did audition for Nickelodeon once when I was like, like right before I quit. They hated me. Wait! What show? I know I saw like the Egyptian outfit out in the living room. The little king towel one? Yes, the king towel. I was like, this is like history. Like this is an iconic piece. Like I can't believe I'm looking at it right now. Speaking of spin-offs, was there supposed to be a spin-off of Cam and Mitch and yeah. It was definitely pitched.
Starting point is 00:00:25 And then I think. That's what everybody thinks, she's just Trish. Yay! Hey guys, welcome back to the Just Trish podcast. Today we have a TV icon. She plays Lily in Modern Family, but you can currently see her all over social media reviewing her favorite foods or playing her guitar. Everyone, please welcome to the show, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. Oh my, hi everybody. Wait, which camera am I supposed to look at? There's your close-up and there's the wide.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Okay, cool. I was nervous. I'm still nervous. I was telling you right before, I'm like- No, I was nervous too. Which is wild. Okay, so it's a very rare thing that I currently meet someone I'm currently hyper fixated on, meaning we just restarted Modern Family. Well, it's kind of my first time watching it but maybe a couple months ago we started like watching from the beginning yeah and so now we're maybe on like season like i don't know four or five and so it's like probably more like six or something and it's like so surreal to see you in person because we watch you like literally every single night for probably four episodes a night for the past three months so
Starting point is 00:01:40 oh my gosh thank you for being here thank you for being a fan of the show. I'm a fan of you as well because I was also saying like I see you on TikTok and I just never never put the two together that you were like the same little girl from a modern family which is so crazy so how are you? How is everything? I'm good I'm good I had I've tamped I had a tap dancing lesson this morning you know I'm a musical theater nerd and I know you are too so we need to delve in. Yes I have so many questions I did not know this about you i listened to the um dinners on me podcast so just tyler ferguson and you guys were talking about you loved hamilton and was it like cabaret or oh yeah cabaret is one of my favorite musicals which is crazy i had no idea about this so you tapped in this morning are you like auditioning for something or um well i'm just preparing in
Starting point is 00:02:23 case i need to audition for musical theater and stuff like that currently and i might audition for colleges for musical theater next year oh wow yeah so you are gonna go to college maybe maybe not yeah the thing is if i booked a job right now that was steady i'd be like no i'm not going to college i'd rather work a job but um i could the college life does seem fun and i did some conservatory things over the summer, and I really liked the vibe. So maybe I will go to college. It really just depends on work.
Starting point is 00:02:51 What's conservatory? What is that, like theater? It's like conservatories are just like, yeah, kind of more like colleges for theaters, but like programs for it and stuff. So yeah, I was just singing a lot for different colleges over the summer and stuff like that oh my gosh i didn't know i didn't know you were like a singer like i feel like they had to do so many things on modern family but singing wasn't one that i've seen yet no it wasn't it's actually funny because on modern family i'm supposed to be a horrible singer because there's this one episode where the dads are trying to teach me how to sing and i can't sing and i'm
Starting point is 00:03:21 like trying to sing and i just can't do it so it's really funny like everybody in my comment sections they're always like what Lily can sing now and then like the other joke that people make is that they're just like you know that one scene where it's like Dylan and he's like the Hayley Hayley I just want to do you everybody's like you should cover that song and it's to the point where I'm like I feel like I should just do it because it's going to go viral. Have you had a night yet with your band or anything? No, I have not. At one of your shows, you just start singing it. That'd be so funny.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Imagine. Oh, God. That would be really viral. I feel like you're so viral right now as like Lily from Modern Family. So to see like you grown up doing that, like actually being a good singer, people would lose their minds for sure. I mean, I try. It's funny, though, because I feel like I'll post like music and stuff that i write and it'll like get the least amount of views really yes it's like the like especially as of recent and i think it has something to do with me being like getting verified on tiktok since i got verified i have not gotten the same views that i did that's so
Starting point is 00:04:18 interesting have you joined like the creator program like the creator fund like i paid for it i think you have to be 18 i could be wrong oh you for it. I think you have to be 18. I could be wrong. Oh, you're right. I think you might have to be 18. I'm so, oh my gosh, your mom is here today, which is like so cool. I love it. Cause your mom's also like queen of food mania reviews, TikTok, like everything I've watched so much and I'm like, okay, so excited, but I forget that you're 17 years old. That's so you've been working since you were three and a half, three and a half, four. I think've been working since you were three and a half? Three and a half, four. I think I auditioned when I was three and a half or maybe I was freshly four and then yeah. And you're still like not burnt out from acting. You're like, I want to do another job. Well, the thing is like I took a break from it for a while,
Starting point is 00:04:57 like right after the show ended, like it was crazy the timing of the whole thing because we shot the last season and the last episode and then covid happened like a month after and everybody was in lockdown so like the timing was perfect for getting the whole show done and how so then the whole industry was completely shut down for like a year or two and then everything switched to self-tapes instead of going in person for auditions and stuff and like i oh doing self-tapes just, it's not my favorite. And at the time, just, just auditioning in general, I was not experienced at it because I was on a show for so long. I never needed to. Got casted right away. Exactly. So I just, I didn't have that experience
Starting point is 00:05:36 and I, it gave me so much anxiety when I was younger. I think I was about 12 or 13. And I told my mom, I was like, I want to quit. And quit and I did I quit for a while and I lived a little bit of like a normal life as much of a normal life as you could live in quarantine when you're in middle school and then I went back to regular school ninth grade and then I like started getting into my theater department and that's how I decided I want to get back into it wow how yeah surreal how cool is that so you're back in like regular school you're in public school yeah I was in public school oh my gosh and then you like joined the theater program do you have to audition or they're like you just starred on this huge series so like well the thing is like it was
Starting point is 00:06:13 a very small school even though it is a public school there's only 300 kids in like not even just in the grade but the whole school so I just took the class there which you don't have to audition to get into okay and then yeah I did some of the musicals there and the straight plays and stuff. But yeah, you have to audition for those. Did people treat you differently? Yes. And the thing is, right before I went to that public school that I was at, I went to a different high school.
Starting point is 00:06:35 And that's where it's like a regular one where it's like there's 4,000 kids and it's really crowded. And it's like, yeah, people will stare at you and stuff. And people are really nice about it sometimes, but it's just yeah people people will like stare at you and stuff and like people are really nice about it sometimes but it's just like it feels disrespectful and like i'm in the lunch line and it's like bro i'm trying to eat like a really burger from the lunch like i'm trying to eat at the cafeteria girl and like people just keep like coming up to me and like they'll like facetime people and like put the phone in my face yeah and it's just like it was very overwhelming like
Starting point is 00:07:01 fellow kids fellow students yeah students and stuff wait that's so it must be so weird on both ends because if you're like a tv star that had been on for like the whole life to see you would be so surreal like i'm sure they couldn't help themselves but then to be you it's interesting for sure and like i feel like i have to be careful about who i trust as a friend especially like at school and stuff like that i mean now i have like a pretty solid crew of people that i i love and trust but you know when like getting back into that after quarantine especially where nobody's socializing at all like navigating that was interesting yeah that's yeah and then did you have friends while you're doing modern family are your age well I mean like outside of the show like yeah but think about it like the kids there was Rico Nolan and Ariel Ariel those were like the main three kids
Starting point is 00:07:45 in the show and they were way older than me I think they're like 25 right now so they're way older than me so it was kind of isolating on set because there was nobody my age so yeah so you have like yeah so that must be and then how many days are you working as a child it just depended on the episode because sometimes I wouldn't even be in one and the thing is people like it was like a thing in the industry at the time where it's like modern family it's like the best show to be on yeah because like well we had a really good craft services to like the food and stuff it was like apparently amazing compared to the other shows i don't really know because i wasn't on the other ones but um like workload wise the thing is there's
Starting point is 00:08:22 the different houses so it was like you know one day would be like for the dumpy family and they would shoot that stuff so it's like we wouldn't have to work five days a week like it'd be rare like unless we were on like unless it was one where it's like oh we're doing the disneyland episode where we're all there together for a week or we're doing like a um like a holiday episode then it was kind of different and we had to work the whole week but otherwise like sometimes i wouldn't work at all in a week or I'd work one to three days I feel like wow and how are you at that age like what is even audition like because by the way you're like living my dream I think child stardom sounds like the best thing ever obviously there's like documentaries out about
Starting point is 00:08:56 it now that seems scary very very scary but I mean yeah that was that was like Nickelodeon though that's like a whole different situation like nothing at ABC was like that well I mean technically um ABC is owned by Disney oh so the Disney kids are fine the Nickelodeon kids seem to have gone through some trauma I feel like Disney like being a Disney Disney kid though on the channel yeah it was like a completely different experience from what I had that's true because they're around like other kids so you're kind of on this like really grown-up exactly yeah did you ever want to be a Disney channel like a disney channel star like yeah like not really i mean you can probably tell i mean on the kit like the character on modern family like was so tone deaf and like whatever and i'm so like this it's like you don't see disney kids that are like really chilled out
Starting point is 00:09:38 like this you don't see disney kids with like deep voices like this at that age you know what i mean so i don't think it was meant for me i did audition for nickelodeon once when i was like like right before i quit they hated me they hated me i don't know it was just like it was just to like go in for nickelodeon and just for them to see me i think and it no i don't think it's for me explain it i don't really know but i went into the nickelodeon office and i i just read a couple scripts for them and stuff i i don't really remember it too well but no like i don't think that type of acting is for me and i think like i've grown a lot since i've been in high school and had more experience um with acting now and with other fellow students it's been nice yeah i have more experience now even though it's just high school experience but which is so wild to see you on the show as such a little kid, like being so good.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Because like you said, you draw from experience, but you don't really have experience at four years old. So like, how are you just, it's supposed to be natural. Because your mom's a comedian, right? Your mom was a comedian. Yes, she's a comedian. So it's just like in your genes to be a performer. I guess.
Starting point is 00:10:40 I don't really know. I mean, many people would say otherwise. I mean, I don't know if you've looked at like Reddit or like seeing like things about me online, but it's like, dude, people would be like, she is the worst child actor. And the thing is, I'm never necessarily like you're wrong because like the thing is I had no experience. Like, I never like, you're so good. And I'm not just saying this, like we talked about on the podcast. I think that's why we've DM because I talk about it so much. I'm just like, you're so good and I'm not just saying this like we talked about on the podcast I think that's why we've dm'd because I talk about it so much I'm just like you're so good like your comedic timing your stunt work like we watched the episode last night where you're doing like the face in the
Starting point is 00:11:10 picture and they're not like telling you like that your smile is not good and you keep doing this weird face and I was like wait how does she know how to be funny like how do you know to be funny at that age I mean I it just I feel like it depends on who's directing that episode I mean I feel like there were a lot of people who were really good at dealing with the kids on set. Cause they had had, you know, the other kids to deal with like Nolan and Ariel before me. So, and I had a great studio teacher, her name was Ms. Sharon. So she really stood up for me throughout the whole thing. But my mom, like, you know, you can't really like read at the age of four or at least not that well. So my mom would just read the lines to me and then I would just memorize them
Starting point is 00:11:44 because she would just read them. Yeah.'s so crazy so like if your line is like oh thanks dad she's gonna she tells you the line but then is she also reading the other line like if she's camera mitch is she reading those lines and then telling you what to say after yes and i mean she could even explain like if you want to talk about it because you know better than me if you would like to talk about it because she's here but yeah yeah come on come on come on i'm so excited you're so cute by the way i was so excited to see her yes here she is come here yeah i mean yeah you guys both fit oh my god i'm so fascinated i look like such a slob you're like so cute no i love this i was just working on a construction site i'm like what's going on you're literally the cutest i was so excited to see you no because i was i would have like a busy morning i was like carrying
Starting point is 00:12:28 packages okay let's go to trisha's house now thank you both for being here so i am so like fascinated by this okay so like you're reading lines to her so you're reading both the opposite and her lines and she's just repeating them after you basically well and here's okay so here's a cute story from when she had the auditions because usually when you get on a network show, especially like since she joined third season, the show was already a huge hit and was syndicated and stuff like that. So you usually have to do like audition, callback, callback, producer's session, chemistry reads, then you have to be network approved.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And she only had to do three auditions which is kind of unheard of and i couldn't i mean i my agent wanted to submit her and i was like because i'm an actor too and i'm like she's never gonna book it she's gonna be going up against professional kids like if you're six and how professional can you be when you're four years old kids have been working since they're in diapers you know yeah and i'm like she had zero experience she didn't know how to memorize a line or what a script was or what a set looked like or anything. And I'm like, she'll never book it.
Starting point is 00:13:27 But my agent's like, let me just submit her. I really think she'll have a chance. I'm like, okay, fine. And she said she wanted to try. And I never, ever thought she was actually going to book it. And then 10 days later, I was signing a network contract. I'm like, oh, wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:39 I couldn't believe it. But when we went for her, she did a chemistry read with Jesse Tyler. And that was her last audition that's where she booked it on the way where they shot in the fox lot which are driving from the valley down the fox lot and we were running the scene it was like a two-page dialogue with like the dad and her and then she goes now let's switch it you know she's four just let's switch i'm gonna be the daddy and you play the little girl i'm like no honey we can't do that it's gonna confuse you're gonna get screwed up and she's like yes I'm going to be the daddy and you play the little girl. I'm like, no, honey, we can't do that. It's going to confuse you.
Starting point is 00:14:05 You're going to get screwed up. She's like, yes, mommy, I want to do it that way. Wow. Okay, once, but then we have to practice it the normal way. So we did it and then we switched the lines. And then I remember we were in the Galaxy parking ramp. And I'm like, now do it the normal way so you don't screw up when you're in there. And yeah, I mean, she didn't like nail it.
Starting point is 00:14:22 But obviously she was what they thought was a good fit. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it must be just, yeah, then, I mean, she didn't like nail it. No, but she obviously she did. She was what they thought was a good fit. Yeah. What? I mean, it must be just, yeah, then it just comes down to remember all that at that age. So you're like learning all the parts. I mean, that's like super genius. Well, here's another little secret behind the scenes too, is that, so she mentioned her studio teacher.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Her name is Sharon Sachs. She's like legendary in like Hollywood studio teacher land. And she may be retired now, But anyway, shout out to Sharon. She's the best. She was there the whole run of the entire show and worked with all the kids. And when Aubrey was really little, you know, before she could read and stuff, she would kind of hide on set those like that first year or two. Like say if you're sitting on the couch with your dad and you had lunch, she'd sit behind
Starting point is 00:15:02 the couch and she would prompt you if it was like a really confusing scene. Because sometimes it was more than like three people talking or whatever. It was hard for her to know when to come in. And she would like prompt her like when her line would come up to like start saying it. So she did have a little help like that. Wow. I mean, but that is amazing to like get to do all of that. Were you going against like twins or anything to play, you know, like Mary-Kate and Ashley
Starting point is 00:15:22 like, you know, for the role? I doubt that they would have twins because, you know, they had twins before me to play Lily. And then they switched me out. The thing is, I think they wanted a kid that could be on for the whole show. So it would have been impossible for them to do twins. I see. To like switch it up.
Starting point is 00:15:35 So that's pretty amazing. Wow. And then like Jeremy was played by twins. Wasn't it Jeremy? Yeah, he was. Like the little Joe. Oh, you haven't gotten that far yet. But like later later you know
Starting point is 00:15:45 they just had a baby yeah i don't and so they had twins that played jeremy before like the main the kid that actually like was the full-time kid and it was a boy and a girl because when they're babies you can't tell the difference really i have to watch it i have to watch it now to see like which one is the boy which one is the girl that's i wonder if you can tell but it was ironically it was the girl who really wanted to be on the set and the boy would cry. Wow. So Jeremy was mostly playing by a girl at the beginning. Oh, and are you there like every day that she's filming? She was.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Yeah, yeah. Unless I was working too, then I'd have to hire a set sitter. Oh my gosh. Yeah, that's like a – because it is kind of like a full-time job to have like a child star and then to have your job and then to be with her. Like that's a lot. Like do you think you would want your kids to act? Oh, I would love it. And now hearing like this story of success makes me
Starting point is 00:16:27 excited but I heard so many bad stories but I was like as a kid I wanted to be at three I wanted to be on commercials I was like like full house was a thing and I was like I want to do that but my parents didn't know how with my daughter I was like maybe I should get her into stuff and hearing this story makes me like excited about it but I don't is like i would say wait till they know what they want to do like really i would say wait yeah yeah we both would say don't do it really oh so like tell me because i think you guys are so like normal and so you know what i mean like i don't know i'm trying to think because it's like yeah i mean modern family has brought me so many blessings into like so many blessings into my life. And, like, I'm forever grateful.
Starting point is 00:17:05 But, like, I think kids need to have, like, a normal experience. And I don't know if that's the way to do it. And I feel like I definitely was more troubled when I became older because of the show. Really? Because everything I've heard. Yeah. Like, what's trouble? I feel like I've had, like, troubled eras.
Starting point is 00:17:23 I don't know. Tell me, like, the show ends and what you feel what do you feel when this ends you're like what do i do with like you're just what 12 when it ends yeah i was like 12 and then um yeah i don't know i just i would just say wait because i felt like i didn't really know what i wanted to do after the show and i think like figuring out your hobbies and experiences for yourself is important not having your parents choose that for you and it's not like she chose that for me yeah because i said i wanted to do it but it's like how do you choose what you want to do for eight years when you're four years old like yeah and
Starting point is 00:17:52 probably as a parent you just think like i always think like oh you set her up you know you did the right thing so it is interesting to hear both perspectives of it you know what i mean and it's it's kind of like that with kids on social media now right it's like i have my daughter and it's like how much do you put her on how much do you not she like loves to be on camera but is it invasive is it like later on she'll be mad at me that i did that i don't know It's like I have my daughter and it's like, how much do you put her on? How much do you not? She like loves to be on camera, but is it invasive? Is it like later on she's gonna be mad at me that I did that? I don't know. It's like such a... Well, I think, I mean, it's just my opinion, but you know, of course, like we always, there's a couple of different documentaries out about troubled child stars and people who said they were unhappy or were abused even, you know, like really horrible things. But my belief is the
Starting point is 00:18:22 majority of kids in this industry turn out just fine or even really great a lot of adult actors were child actors and are really thriving in their careers and a lot of people who were child actors go on to do completely different things they they they end their careers and they go on to be lawyers and teachers and parents and normal people and they're they're totally fine but that's not who we hear about we want to hear about the ones who are troubled walking the streets right but um but i think no matter because honestly like we know a ton of kids who are in this industry we know a lot of people who are not and i'd say more kids who are not in the industry are having troubles you know in their teens than the industry
Starting point is 00:18:59 kids i mean the fact that it's being like online it's just the fact that it's on social media this is just normal teenager stuff and i feel like like i feel like there was like a whole thing online for like a long time like during the quarantine era where like kids were like really popular online and like charlie d'amelio hasn't ready like all them it's like they'd get in trouble for stuff all the time online it's like they vaped once and it's like yeah because they're teenagers and you have to see it yeah yeah yeah i don't think it just really like whether your kids are like soccer or mathletes or whatever they do they're actors whatever it is that they're into dancers like it really just comes down to a relationship like do you have a genuine relationship with your kid and and if you do then you know
Starting point is 00:19:41 you're gonna be fine but if the relationship is difficult and strained for it – because there are a lot of – like, look at those horrible sports parents. Look at those horrible dance parents. Like, they're just – it's the same stuff. It's just not on TV. We just don't care about it. Yeah. That's almost, like, worse because they say it's all, like, for fake, but those kids are, like, crying. And I'm like, but it's, like, you're still inflicting some sort of pain on these kids.
Starting point is 00:20:01 You know what I mean? At least – Yeah, it's abusive. It's all – yeah. That is – that's a whole different world. That reality for children is like really really scary but i know and like i've watched a lot of dance moms and stuff too me too that's actually that is abusive like you said like they say it's fake but it feels so bad i don't know how those people feel about that experience i don't know anybody personally from that show but it just seems so wild and so yeah
Starting point is 00:20:22 dramatic and like of course now i'dbilism is the jojo siwa stuff i feel like yes yes i'm talking low-key a jojo siwa supporter i like her yeah you know what i will say we've met her a couple times we have she's always been super nice i went to her birthday party yeah like and was nice to her little fans like what all yes she took time with them she was never rude she was always such a nice person. I will say that. Yeah, and we haven't always seen that with other people. Like, she genuinely seems to care about people who support her.
Starting point is 00:20:52 I've always said that, too. I feel like I met her a few times when she was also young, like 15 and stuff. And she was, like, really, really nice and really, like, professional and really, like, you know, genuine. So I think she does get, like, a little bit of a bad rap now. But I think it's maybe she's also maybe trolling a little bit. You know what I mean? I think now she's kind of. She's just spicing up her life right now.
Starting point is 00:21:07 She's making some fun music and she's humping on the stage and she can do that. And drinking Cheetos on stage. She's living her best life. She's getting drunk at Disneyland. I'm here for it. She got drunk at Disneyland? Yes. It was like a whole thing.
Starting point is 00:21:20 It was like for her 21st birthday or something. It was controversial too. People were like mad about it because she was was drunk at Disneyland in front of kids. I like your take on it. A lot of people were like, let her live her life. It's Epcot because you can drink around the world in Epcot. A lot of people are drunk at Epcot. That's the tea right there.
Starting point is 00:21:37 It is interesting to see that child star become an adult and then rebranding in a way, which is really interesting. Do you think you'll have a rebrand at like extreme like that I don't know I mean because the thing is I'm a musician so I'm working on releasing my solo music currently and I mean it's obvious like I don't have anything out on Spotify or anything yet but I've got stuff recorded and I'm waiting to take pictures for all of it so i think when the time comes to
Starting point is 00:22:05 release that stuff then i kind of want to rebrand a bit oh wait is it like pop or is it the stuff you're doing with october the band like is it um no my own stuff so is it more poppy is it like what genre you can listen to it after we finish the episode if you want yeah yeah but i would say it's like indie pop folk it's giving that vibe but yeah do you know the song by maps one that's popular online it's like wait they don't love you know the song by maps one that's popular online it's like wait they don't love you like i love you you know that song oh yeah yeah the one that's like really popular online right now they don't love you like i love you know what the dance that i'm talking about no i did a cover of that song so i'm gonna release that soon and that's gonna
Starting point is 00:22:41 be the first thing that i release i might even change my name. I might change my stage name. Wait, really? Do you have any ideas? I might change it to Frances Anderson. Wait, that's cool. Y'all look back on this podcast when I'm on tour in a few years. Just kidding. Where's Frances? You don't like the Frances? No, I do. That's her middle name, Frances. Frances Anderson. She hated it when she
Starting point is 00:23:00 was young. She was like, oh, my middle name's so stupid. Is it named after someone in the family? It's a family friend, right? A couple, a couple right no it's really kind of nothing it's just a name that i not nothing but um you know bud friedman who used to he he founded the improv comedy club so i'm a comedian so i knew bud and he his i can't remember if it's his cousin or his aunt anyway but she was his secretary for years and years and years she passed away quite a while ago but when she came to aubrey's baby shower and I knew her. When you would perform at the different clubs, you would go up to her office to get your check.
Starting point is 00:23:31 This is back when you still had to get a check. And her name was Fran. And so I just always loved Fran. And Fran loved you. I have a picture of her holding you when you were a baby. That's so sweet. I just always liked the name Frances. And remember like the francis the little kids
Starting point is 00:23:45 books yes francis yes i loved that anyway i don't remember i always liked the name and then she hated it when she was not because people were just like that's like a middle-aged like that's just like a man name it is my dad's name francis i love that is the men's and the e c e s okay email and c i s is the male oh Oh, I see. I love it. I like consider naming my daughter Frances because of my dad. I thought it was such a cool name. It's a beautiful name, yeah. It is really pretty. And that's going to be a great stage name because like you said, no one's really named
Starting point is 00:24:12 that anymore. So I think, and it is your name. It really flows well too. It fits you for sure. So we'll see what happens once I release music, but that's what I'm currently working on. Oh my gosh, how fun. And so are you working with like other producers or are you doing it all yourself? I have a producer that I really like currently.
Starting point is 00:24:27 His name is Elliot. He's really, really nice. But I don't have a music manager or anything. So I'm figuring it all out right now. Anybody else? We don't know anything about the music world. Nothing. I know you have music released online.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I'm surprised. You guys are so connected in the world of entertainment. Action-wise, we are. Yeah. I could be a comedian or something. I could help you. But music-wise, we're really flailing. We know nothing. It's a difficult nothing it's a difficult i think it's so like a lot of people are doing independent now because when i've heard about recording contracts is they like kind of like are a little bit of a
Starting point is 00:24:53 scam you know what i mean like as far as like you know you have to like they give you up front but then like recouping it takes forever so i think a lot of people put out music independently just to like have control of it i don't know and I'm like looking at young people who are like releasing music and really popular. And it seems like they really have like a big persona and like aesthetic and like they really know what they want. And I know I feel like it's just like so obvious that it's being pushed by their label. Yeah, so hard. And I love all of them so much. And they're so iconic. But I'm like, how real and authentic is this? Because I want to be authentic. I think what I do, that's what yours comes across on on Instagram and TikTok and all the stuff like that like it's very it's very authentic you're like in your room you know you're just like this young girl. I'm like on the floor like. But
Starting point is 00:25:32 it's so relatable I think so many people do put money into like production and stuff and I think that is something that's like missing because I love all those girlies too I love pop girlies but like I think that is definitely missing and I feel like there's no one young doing that kind of music and I think it'd be really really cool to hear you sing and do that thank you also speaking of pop girlies you went to go see the wicked premiere Ariana Grande Cynthia Riva we were trying to go and get my publicist wait how did you not her publicist manager could not get her in wait what I feel like every single person was there no I know everybody was there I swear oh my god that's that's wild actually that's so crazy it was amazing it was beautiful thank you wicked is this was our second time seeing I got to see
Starting point is 00:26:10 an early screening and then this I don't know why I never get invited to anything it's my first time I've ever been invited so I don't know how you did it because but I did I was trying to like ask every single person I know I was like is there a way to get it and they just like randomly email me one day but it's so good I love musical theater more than anything it's like Broadway you think you'll do I I would love to do Broadway at some point in my life am I ready for that right now absolutely not but I'm training and I'm getting there I do tap once a week jazz once a week I try to do two vocal lessons a week so I'm training you know cooking in the process that would be did you see Sarah Hyland in Little Shop we did yes it was amazing did you see it I didn't get to see her and I saw years ago when it opened with Christian Borle and I like loved it but I haven't seen and I
Starting point is 00:26:53 saw that she was in it and I was like oh did you guys make a special trip for that well I was already there for like I was there for summer camp for musical theater camp so then right afterwards we're like we'll go see some shows and stuff and we were like we have to see it while we're there i didn't know she sang no yeah she's been performing her dad is a broadway star her dad is john highland oh my gosh i didn't know yeah so um but yeah she started us and she was in the annie movie as uh molly like back in the day and the one that was in the 90s or whatever oh okay so not the one that just came out I know there's been
Starting point is 00:27:25 like 50 versions yeah I'm like trying to think of that one okay not the one with Covington before that the Jamie Foxx one yeah not
Starting point is 00:27:32 not the Jamie Foxx one not the Jamie Foxx wasn't the one with Christian Chenoweth and Alan Cummings was they were they in it Kathy Bates maybe
Starting point is 00:27:38 were they in it oh god I'm so confused which is weird there's probably like a million Annie movies I know yeah like Carol Burnett was in one
Starting point is 00:27:44 that was like the original. I don't even know. Okay, I know. They're all confusing to me because I'm like, okay. She was in one of those. But yeah, she was phenomenal in Little Shop. And Andrew Barth Feldman was the same. Oh my god. He's so amazing. They were like the best.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Because we've seen that show many times in different places. That was for sure the best time that we've seen it. Oh, I can't imagine. I saw him in Dear Evan Hansen, and he was so good. Didn't you do a cover of Waving Through a Window once online? I've done the cover of that. Yes, you have, girl. I've been watching those.
Starting point is 00:28:16 We should do a song together. I think I'd be intimidated. I really am intimidated even sitting here with you because all the stuff you've accomplished is actually amazing, and it's something to be like really proud of even if you didn't choose it like it's a really cool life it's just happening to me I don't know I know but it really kind of did which is like so cool in a way no it feels like the modern family thing I feel like it did just kind of like happen to me but I feel like now I'm making my own decisions now
Starting point is 00:28:40 that I'm starting to become it's weird I'm like wait am I a young adult now like I'm starting to become, it's weird. I'm like, wait, am I a young adult now? Like it's starting to feel. You're becoming a woman. Yeah. You're getting there. Yeah. Yeah. So just navigating that has been an interesting thing. But yeah, I'm trying my best to make it in the industry and to stay strong.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I mean, you've already definitely made it, but continuing to make it, I think Broadway will be such a cool, what would be your dream role? Oh, Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Oh, that would be so good well they're doing cabaret right now you'd be good sally bowles that'd be like a dream role for me and like i haven't seen the new one i kind of wanted to see it when i was there but we saw it on broadway with alan coming like when how old was i when i was seven at seven yes like i saw cabaret when i was seven oh and she i guess is this the youngest person you've had coming to the show?
Starting point is 00:29:25 She's like, I think so. I mean, that is a wild one to see at seven years old. Yeah. But she already knew the music, and she saw they performed on the Tonys that you're on TV. Oh, I see. And she saw it, and she was like, what is this? I surprised her with tickets.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And I met Alan Cumming afterwards. Yeah, she did a job in Toronto. He was so nice. I'm like, let's just go down and see a show so I surprised her she freaked out and yeah we met Alan
Starting point is 00:29:50 he's my favorite person I love Traitors I'm like obsessed with that show because of him have you watched it I know it's really good so good
Starting point is 00:29:56 it's like a reality show he's so theatrical they have a lot of like reality stars competing he's like so theatrical Alan Cumming is like my favorite human in the whole world too
Starting point is 00:30:04 I've never met him but he's so well so at I've never met him but. He's so, well so at the time we met him, she used to have a, tell me again. She used to have a little fish tank
Starting point is 00:30:11 and we had two matching fish they're called hatchet fish and there were two they looked like exactly the same and she was so obsessed. She was obsessed with Alan Cumming
Starting point is 00:30:18 when she was seven. Look I had like a crush on Alan Cumming. I had a lot of love with him. What from what? Tell me from what? I think she cried a little about a little bit
Starting point is 00:30:23 when she found out he was married to a man. Oh, same, same. Stop. We were flipping through his Instagram and I said, oh, that's his husband. She went,
Starting point is 00:30:31 Allen's gay? Well, I think he's bi, so there's always a chance. I think he's bi too. He's married to a man. He is married, yes. But anyway, so when we met him,
Starting point is 00:30:41 Aubrey, so the one of the, she was so obsessed with him, she named these two matching fish she named them Alan and Cumming oh my gosh that's so cute
Starting point is 00:30:49 but then Alan died so then there was just Cumming just Cumming so I'm telling him that in his in his green room you know what she calls
Starting point is 00:30:57 Club Cumming yeah Saturday night so I was telling him the story and I'm like so I was telling him about the fish she was like oh my god I love this
Starting point is 00:31:04 and then and I showed him my picture so we had him about the fish. He was like, oh my God, I love this. And then, and I showed him a picture. So we had a little burial for Alan in the backyard. We buried him. Just had a picture of him laying in the dirt before we covered him. I said, this was Alan. He's like, oh my God, can you send me that picture? I'm obsessed with it.
Starting point is 00:31:17 And then so I sent him that picture. Her impressions are so good of people. I said, but now we just have Cumming. He was like, we just have Cumming. It's amazing. Well, you know, Club Cumming is fitting. I love that he loved the story. I love that he,
Starting point is 00:31:27 like you guys got to go in the green room and hang out with him. Like that's so. There's a video of her on YouTube of them wrestling in the green room. We at seven? What did you know of him
Starting point is 00:31:35 that you had a crush on? Just Cabaret. Just Cabaret. Yeah. Because I was, I saw like Romy and Michelle and I had such a crush on him in that movie.
Starting point is 00:31:42 I've never seen that, have you? It's so funny. Well, I mean, you know, she's 17. It's so funny. Yeah, it's so funny and he's so handsome
Starting point is 00:31:49 and he plays like one of the romantic leads. No, he's so handsome. He is. And everything. You just watched that Chimp Crazy documentary? Have you heard of
Starting point is 00:31:55 the Chimp Crazy documentary? No, I've heard of it but I haven't seen it. Girl, I feel like you really like this. What? He's an advocate for animal rights. I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:32:01 He's like PETA kind of, I think, or whatever. But he worked with one of these chimpanzees and like he was like connected to the whole story about like this lady who owned all these chimps
Starting point is 00:32:10 and stuff. It was a whole thing. And how he was like hidden away and stuff. But yeah, so he's interviewed throughout the four episodes and they were showing
Starting point is 00:32:17 several clips from the movie which he did back in the 90s or whatever. He was so, wow, look how handsome. Sorry, I'm not trying to be creepy
Starting point is 00:32:24 so if you ever watch this, I'm sorry. I'm always creepy with him. I think he's so cute. I'm always creepy with him. I know, he's my crush. He knows.
Starting point is 00:32:31 He's my number one. I've never heard of anyone else obsessed with Alan Cumming the way we are. Like, that's crazy. Josie and the Pussycats is another one
Starting point is 00:32:39 where he's like really cute. We did watch it a little. Okay. Remember we watched it? Yeah. Obviously, When You're Older, Eyes Wide Shut is a good one
Starting point is 00:32:44 that he's in. He's in so many. I? Yeah. Obviously, When You're Older, Eyes Wide Shut is a good one that he's in. Like, he's in so many. I'm excited about that. Yeah. His, everything is amazing. I love him in so many ways. But I love that you know him from Cabaret. He's a king. Yes. He is a king. Yeah, the new Cabaret is so different than his Cabaret, which I haven't seen either, but it looks good. I think the girl who played, who's
Starting point is 00:32:59 singing voice in Moana is in, has Sally Bowles right now. Oh, yeah. I think she is. Yeah, yeah. she's with adam lambert right now as the two leads i just saw a clip of adam lambert doing i don't care very much and it was like really good oh yeah i think yeah i've heard oh yeah alan cummings version i heard too i think it's on itunes he does like a really really good or mine hair he does really well too oh yeah that whole album yeah where he does all the covers at seven do you understand like the concept of it no cabaret yeah no i mean obviously looking back i understand now but i think i understood to some
Starting point is 00:33:30 degree when i was younger but like i don't know not also that year she really wanted to be oh stop i love these stories i love that she wanted to be a kit kat girl for halloween oh my god no you said that's not appropriate i mean yeah they're like hookers like what I'm like, honey, no. It's not appropriate. I mean, yeah, they're like hookers. I'm like, you know, no. When you're over 18, you can maybe, but no, it's not appropriate for a kid. She was so upset, so she was dressed as Wonder Woman that
Starting point is 00:33:55 year. You were a Wonder Woman zombie. You did a little zombie. Okay, love that. But then she kept doing the cabaret dance. It's giving cabaret today. You have the The little like, it's giving cabaret today. You have the haircut. Oh, this is very Sally Bold. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:08 It's giving very much Broadway. That's. Cliff. Yeah, that's it. Oh my gosh. This was literally the only, the three pink things that I had in my closet was this robe. And then this is kind of pink because of this. I love it.
Starting point is 00:34:19 And then this rose quartz necklace. You made the shirt? I did. Yeah. Oh my gosh. She crochets. She has a little crocheting business. Wait, really? That's so cute. Crochet and do jigsaw puzzles. That's my life. Is that your life? cord snack you made the shirt yeah she crochets she has a little crocheting business wait really
Starting point is 00:34:25 that's so cute and do jigsaw puzzles is that your life this is so funny to see you guys in person you're like i just crochet and i wish that was my whole life i'm just sitting like scarves just yeah that's kind of fun i mean that's really cute i love the whole that's like a really cute vibe thank. It would look cute on you too. Have you ever worn your own crochet? Oh, I have hats and scarves. The bees and yeah. Oh my gosh. Wait, this is so cool.
Starting point is 00:34:51 So what is this like dynamic? Like how did you guys become like best friends or have you always been? Like you're so close. I don't really know. I mean, it's just like, you know, she's a single mom and I mostly grew up in her house. And I don't like on her side, I don't have any other siblings. So it's just kind of like us and the dogs. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:08 So you had that bond. But honestly, I feel like since we were together all the time because of Modern, like, not that we wouldn't have been close without it, but it certainly, I think, played a role in our dynamic of being kind of like a team. Like, we're almost like a work team, but then also like a family team as well. And because it's just the two of us. Because I know there are a lot of people who have kids in the business
Starting point is 00:35:30 and they've got another kid who does basketball. So they're spread a little more thin. And I've tried to find a balance of not being a helicopter mom, but that I have to be there all the time. Because literally, like by law, she has to have an adult with her on set. Right. So I don't know. I think we were kind of like forced to have a decent relationship.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Oh, for sure. I mean, if we did it, it would be horrible. Yeah, and there are definitely people in the business who don't have good parent-kid relationships. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You guys stayed so close with it all. Yeah. But we also – we kind of joke.
Starting point is 00:36:01 We always go we're the same person because we have the same sense of humor. We laugh. We have a lot of the same interests. We have the, like, we laugh at the same stuff all the time. We'll make the same jokes, like, simultaneously. I know. We're both, like, in our bedrooms in the middle of the night, like, sending each other Instagram reels. Across the house, like, ugh.
Starting point is 00:36:17 No, literally. It's so fun. I love that so much. I'm still, our daughter's still sleeping with us. She's two. And I'm like, I want her to sleep with us forever. You know what I mean? Because I can't imagine having like a separate room than my daughter, you know?
Starting point is 00:36:28 Because you just want to like be so close with them. And it's like so cool. Today we had a photo shoot when she was like living for it. You know, just like a Christmas card thing. And she was like living her best life. I'm like, she could be a star. But then I'm like, let me not be that parent. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:36:38 Because you just – you know, you think that's what like, you know, she might want. But what are your guys' hobbies together? Together? Well, obviously we have our food channel, Food Mania Review. We love trying. you think that's what like you know she might want but what are your guys' hobbies together together well obviously we have our food channel food mania review we love trying but she's actually on a diet right now
Starting point is 00:36:51 oh no it's called whole 30 what no why it's 30 days because it's mostly an anti-inflammatory diet
Starting point is 00:36:59 and like we both deal with like really bad eczema she has extreme eczema like all over my I have it too look I have it on my elbow right now. I have eczema too.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Yeah, so just trying to get like control of inflammation and but it's just like a gut health reset and I'm just You can eat nothing. I swear to God. No, that's not true.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Yeah, I want to know. No, here's what you can't eat and then everything else you can't but it's basically no grains so no rice, no wheat, no corn. You're like, oh God. Yeah, that's like everything I eat. I love all of that. No, I know. I feel like, oh, God. Yeah, that's like everything I eat. I love all of that.
Starting point is 00:37:26 No, I know. Thanksgiving mukbang. But that's what potatoes. No, potatoes you can eat because it's not a grain. That's the only carb you can have. You can have any vegetables, any fruit, any meat, a product. You can't have any legumes. So no peanuts, soybeans, that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:37:41 But that's what makes it hard because it's like no soy sauce or rice. There's barely any sauces you can have sauces because they're full of sugar and no oils except for avocado and olive oil olive oil and and avocado oil are okay but you can't have like canola oil and vegetable oil and so like those oils are in everything corn is in everything rice is it's amazing sugar and no refined sugar you know fruit sugar so you can't eat a lot you just have to have the right things in your house right the first day we didn't have time to shop before and i was like she was dying and she was so tired yesterday we both worked out a lot during quarantine and oh yeah we both got you got your fitness really
Starting point is 00:38:22 we did doing what my freshman year in the quarantine. Yeah, she was muscular, like strong. Wait, really? What are you guys doing? Like working out in the garage or? Yeah, we have a little workout area in our house. Okay. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:32 So like quarantine starts, Modern Family is over. And was it always going to be over when it started or was there like a chance it could come back? I think they wanted it to end on that season, right? Yeah. Okay. I would say like from, because it went for 11 seasons, and I would say from season nine on,
Starting point is 00:38:47 every year kind of toward the end, it was kind of like, well, maybe we'll see. I don't know. Like, it was always a little bit up in the air, and the final season, 11th, wasn't a full season because they usually did a full, like, 22 or 24 episodes. They didn't, I don't remember, but it was a short, if you look on TV on TV like it's
Starting point is 00:39:05 it's a shorter season but yeah they kind of knew in advance like this going into that season they knew this is the last one
Starting point is 00:39:12 and there's no chance of renewing so because the creators wanted to be done you know you always want to leave them wanting more
Starting point is 00:39:17 you don't want to jump the shark and then limp to the finish line like oh god nobody's watching anymore is that the longest-running TV show? It must be, huh?
Starting point is 00:39:26 No. No, but they did. They are tied with Frasier for the most consecutive Emmy wins. How many does Frasier have? Five. They both have five. Oh, wow. So they both are, like, the most winning, like, comedy series.
Starting point is 00:39:37 I wonder what the longest-running TV show is then. Yeah, that's what I wonder. Oh, TV or comedy? I mean, TV would be, like, soap operas. Right, aside from soap operas. It's, like, pretty historic. Yeah. Right. No comedy, I wonder. Oh, TV or comedy? I mean, TV would be like a soap opera. Right, aside from soap operas. It's like prehistoric. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:47 No comedy, I wonder. Yeah. Comedy? Ooh, I wonder. I feel like it has to be modern family. I don't know how long Frasier went for. I don't know either. Or like Cheers.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Oh, that went on. Happy Days. Like, who knows? The Vernon Shirley, those shows. The 11 years seems like none of them would seem to go that long. I don't know. How long was Seinfeld on for? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:03 Seinfeld, I feel like, was on forever. Do you know Seinfeld, Moses? Or, um. Oh, yeah. He's looking up to see what it is. I'm't know. How long was Seinfeld on for? Oh, yeah. Seinfeld, I feel like, Do you know Seinfeld, Moses? Or, um... Oh, yeah. He's looking up to see what it is. I'm so... Yeah, because Friends was 10 years, right? I think that was, like, 10 years.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Was it? Okay. But... And what about, like, um, Big Bang Theory? How many years is that? Oh, that did go on a long time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:16 Last of the Summer Wine. A comedy that went to 31 seasons. Last of the Summer Wine. So, was that on in, like, 1930? Yeah, that is. But, okay. 31 seasons. 31 seasons? Last of the Summer Wine that on in like 1930s yeah but okay 31 seasons 31 seasons
Starting point is 00:40:26 lots of the summer comedy spend half of your life on a show like 30 seasons you know I think that's a British show or something
Starting point is 00:40:33 yeah I'm like no way we all feel so young right now like what's that I know oh it's cartoon you should have
Starting point is 00:40:42 like American comedy yeah Simpsons is still going right they're still on a gig man right yeah i'd love to be a simpsons voice i think that would be the best you don't even have to like look good you can just memorize you have to dress up you don't doesn't matter when you age yes you play a child your whole life literally okay so you're still like actively auditioning for tv and stuff oh yeah for sure and everything oh okay so you're like still wanting to full-on do this yeah
Starting point is 00:41:05 i'm at it i'm trying yeah wow she auditioned for a show that she really really wanted she didn't get and so like wait which one oh the one the bojack horseman creators they have a new a new one coming out it's like a i feel like they're being secretive about it right now yeah but i love bojack horseman i wanted to cosplay as sarah lynn for halloween at some point but i didn't i didn't do it this year that would have been she would still die you could still cosplay even after halloween you're the queen of that you didn't weren't you guys um fiero and um galinda we did it multiple times yeah i love i love cosplaying i love dressing up like all of that is so fun even if it's not halloween i like to do it i know i saw like the egyptian outfit
Starting point is 00:41:43 out in the living room i was like this is like history like this is an iconic piece like i can't believe i'm looking at it right now like it's very like you're gen z right it's very gen z of you to like that are you gen z or you gen alpha is it the next gen no i'm gen z okay and like my mom like she was like my mom was like who's trisha paytas and i was like you don't know gen x yeah yeah yeah totally you don't know like dude like all my friends and it was like really funny like we started kind of getting in contact because i had followed you for a long time and but my friend she was like she dm'd me she was like trisha paytas just talked about you on her podcast and i was like what and she showed me the video and I was like ain't no way I have to dm her like I have to dm her I was so shook I was so
Starting point is 00:42:29 shook I like double checked I was like because we're so in it right now modern family like we're just like obsessed with it and I'm like wait this and we go through obsessions like lost us for housewives so and I get really obsessed with like the characters the people on the show and so I've never met someone that I was like currently obsessed with so I was like this is so crazy I can't believe this is happening and And everyone glammed this morning, like, who do you have on today? When I said you, they were like, no way. Cause it is so iconic. And specifically Lily on Modern Family, everyone's really great. But because you were this like child that was so funny and so like amazing on the show. I think people, cause again, you're just
Starting point is 00:42:59 really smart on the show. I love it. I'm obsessed with it but um that's really cool so speaking of spinoffs was there supposed to be a spinoff of the the cam and mitch and yeah it was definitely pitched and then i think was it the network that said no or who yeah some of the couple of the writers actually did write a probably a pilot or something and they pitched it and the what i think is accurate don't to hold totally hold me to it but i think the network didn't want to do it i don't know why and i think it was kind of like wah wah because everybody who was involved so the original show creators you know leviton lloyd they were not involved but they gave their blessing to the uh some of the writers who were longtime writers in the show and so they were the
Starting point is 00:43:42 ones who were developing it and it just didn't get they they didn't have the interest for i don't know why and everybody asks for one now so i'm like why wouldn't they want that and honestly i think they should pitch it again but the thing is i don't know if jesse would want to do that he said he didn't when you did the podcast yeah he's like i don't know i mean i would do it time has passed now it's like yeah that i feel like people ask more now than they did after it first ended yeah it's having a resurgence for some reason i don't know if it just went to hulu or what like something about it is like coming everyone's talking about it it's all over tiktok all the edits like you were mentioning like it's it's really interesting how it's having this like
Starting point is 00:44:16 second life no for sure and like i i think like there's been like a couple times like during high school where it's like really like peaked and it's been like, oh my god. Like, yeah. And it was really funny because I had TikTok for like since I like since I was a modern family, I've had TikTok like at the age of 12. So I started doing TikToks then, but nobody really followed me at all. And then once the show was over and I turned 13, people found me online and I woke up one morning and I had a million likes on a video. And I was like, whoa. Because it was like I had like maybe 10,000 followers before so I was like what the heck is going on that's interesting I wonder why when it started I don't know I think people were shocked to see that like I looked kind of more like you know like a young woman more than like I think people are really shocked about that and that's kind of how I like gained my following like from
Starting point is 00:45:02 there is just like posting random little vids online and wow because you did grow up so fast I saw like some edits of it's like older Lily and I was just like oh my gosh you look like you're like 17 then that's why you said you're 17 I was like wait you look so much more grown when the show ended you sounded more mature all of that yeah exactly I've kind of had this voice for like a little while now and but yeah people like for I used to be like taller than all my friends I like kind of had a growth spurt at a very young age. So that's been interesting. Also being in the public eye. It's so surreal to watch.
Starting point is 00:45:29 I, you know, I used to do like background work and I did one episode of Modern Family and people still tell me to this day. It's called Go Bullfrog season three, like episode three. I must keep that in mind. Yes. I've been looking for it because you said I saw like you were, I was like scrolling on my For You page Because you said, I saw, like, you were, I was, like, scrolling on my For You page. And then you made that video about, like, you know, how you kind of had your career started.
Starting point is 00:45:49 And you're like, I went on America's Got Talent. And I went on blah, blah, blah. And then you were like, I went on Modern Family. And I, like, paused for a second. I was like, what? She was on Modern Family. No, so there, it's a scene where Claire goes out with Cam and Mitch. And they have, it's a guest star, Gil? Jill?
Starting point is 00:46:06 He, like, plays a gay guy, but he's not gay. And they talk about all the people who have plastic surgery in the room. And then Claire asks, oh, what do they do with all the extra, like, fat they take out? And then, like, they show, like, my cleavage walk past. And then they're like, there it is. So I don't even have a line, but people recognize me so much. You know, like, Twitter, everything, TikTok. Everyone's like, Trisha Payne is a modern family. I'm like, I didn't even have one line in people that's iconic I walked right past um the actor
Starting point is 00:46:30 who plays uh Cam so and he like looks over there and that was that was my big debut and I was like people love the show so much that one little like spot is like what people know me from like 15 years later so I can't even imagine your fame from that you know I've like because you know you mentioned that all the stuff in the video and me and my friend last night we had a sleepover and like we were like we have to watch some of the podcast we have to watch Trisha Paytas moments so I can prepare myself for this podcast I want you to tell me the story about how you got on America's Got Talent and how all of that was oh well because I watched that last night okay well I never even watched it because everything I've done has been quite embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:47:09 I've always wanted to be like famous, but I was never really talented at like acting. Thank God for social media because that helped me. But I was never talented at like acting or singing. So I just took every single thing. So whether it was like Ellen, Jalen, any show that wanted me, I just said yes to. And so they found me on YouTube. I was just fast talking. And one of the producers was like, do you want to come on America's Got Talent audition?
Starting point is 00:47:24 I'm like, for what? And I just talk fast. I was like, okay. So I haven't watched it like, do you want to come on America's Got Talent audition? I'm like, for what? And they're like, just talk fast. I was like, OK. So I haven't watched it. But I know I got all the X's right away. And it was the most embarrassing thing. I blocked it out of my life. I've disassociated.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Oh my gosh. I remember, though, I was watching it. You're like, I want to meet Howard Stern. I know. Even though you got all the X's, he went up on stage and he gave you a hug. Yeah, he was very sweet. I mean, now it's cringy that I wanted to meet Howard Stern stern when i look back at all this i was like oh when i was a kid he gives me the creeps literally he is i know i'm sorry no he definitely does and when you look back at all the awful things he's done his career i was like why did i obsess over him so much like
Starting point is 00:47:56 it is kind of embarrassing now but at the time i really did love him but um back to the spinoff so you guys did film something together recently. You were like inside the house. Well, I was not there. It was for a WhatsApp commercial. It was the adults. Yeah. What was the one where everyone's there, but you're holding a picture of Phil? Like everyone's holding a picture of Phil, but you're in that photo.
Starting point is 00:48:13 Is that not it? Yes. Okay. So basically that was a Modern Family reunion. The only time that's ever happened since the show has ended. Just like a personal, just casual get together. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:22 And I remember Justin, Jesse's husband texted me and was like, hey, we're going to have a reunion thingy at Sophia's house. No parents allowed though, so just have your mom
Starting point is 00:48:33 drop you off or whatever. Yeah, just have your mom drive you like a... Really? I was 16 at the time. This happened like last year. Oh. Yeah, last year in September
Starting point is 00:48:40 this happened. That's so odd though. Like no parents. So I was like, hmm, interesting. But you're the only. Like, no parents. So I was like, hmm, interesting. But you're the only child, so. Yeah, but I was like, I must go. I can't not go to this. Really?
Starting point is 00:48:51 I love that. Because I never go to any of their houses. And it was Sofia Vergara's house. And I was like, OK, I got to go. It was the first time she got included with the big kids and the adults. Oh, that's cool. That is cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:03 Yeah. So it was pretty cool. The only person that was my age there was Ed O'Neill's daughter, Claire. I don't know if you guys have seen her online. She's like beautiful, stunning, like curly hair, blue eyes. And like, she's really good friends with, I don't know if you know who this is, but Ariana Greenblatt. I love her. Yes, I love her. I know they're really tight, but yeah, Claire is cool. So she was there. I love her. Yes, I love her. Barbie Moo, yes. I know they're really tight. But yeah, Clara's cool. So she was there. I mean, her hung out. But yeah, I got to see all around the house. Like the
Starting point is 00:49:30 closet and all the heels and the clothes. I was like, I was shook. She has this closet that's like the size of your bedroom. She has this other room that's just all more dresses. Oh, I can't even imagine. What a dream. I watch her. We watch America's Got Talent and we watch her on there and I'm like, God, she's just like so amazing. I love the whole cast. I really do. Who was, I guess Talent and we watch her on there. And I'm like, God, she's just like so amazing. I love the whole cast.
Starting point is 00:49:45 I really do. Who was, I guess, do you kind of bias? Who's like your favorite, but probably your dad's on the show? Jesse. Like, it's hands down Jesse. Wow. I mean, like, I love Eric too, but like I'm not as close with him and I don't keep in contact with him.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Yeah. He's a really funny guy though. Like, oh my God. And he has so many like funny talents. Like, he's a drummer and he actually went to clown school in real life oh they wrote that into the show for him yes they did yeah a lot of his little things are based off like the pig farm was he a pig farmer he lives in missouri now like we really i think i don't remember but he grew up in that area right yeah oh that's cool so they wrote that and did clowning as a kid wow he would make balloon
Starting point is 00:50:25 animals on set every now and then i remember like do you remember yeah that's cute oh my god but you and jesse you guys just like hung out more talked more well you guys are both like he's musical theater too he's broadway that most definitely helped and you know he has little kids now too and you know that's what i was so surprised i was hearing your podcast with him and he said that his oldest son was the age you were when modern Family started which I'm like that's so like crazy. I can't even imagine my kid acting and doing everything that she did at that age. Because at three I mean it's just like three and a half it's like so yeah it's I can't imagine either that's just like amazing you must have been like a genius well you probably are a genius. I don't know about that one but. So
Starting point is 00:51:02 you did the reunion at the house but it wasn, but it wasn't filmed or anything like that? No. It felt like more of a private thing for sure. But yeah, of course, we posted all those pictures online and people went nuts. Yeah, so they were holding Ty's picture because he's the only one from it. It does kind of look like that. They were having a memorial. No.
Starting point is 00:51:18 He was not dead. I saw that too. And I was like, oh my gosh. It was like, oh my God, what happened to Ty Burrell? It was a crazy choice when whoever decided to do that. That was kind of wild. He either just didn't want to. I'm like, I don't really know.
Starting point is 00:51:29 He mostly lives in Utah. Yeah, he lived far away. Yeah, and I know Ariel. She lives in like somewhere in Tennessee currently. Wow. With her boyfriend and her dogs. Yeah. Nolan's living his best life.
Starting point is 00:51:41 It was his birthday recently. He was living in a van for a while. Oh, I love that. Yeah, he's exploring. Rico lives in Texas. They still have was his birthday recently. He was living in a van for a while. Oh, I love that. Yeah, he's exploring. Rico lives in Texas. They still have a house here, though. Really?
Starting point is 00:51:49 Yeah, yeah. But you are both Valley girls. Were you born in the Valley as well? No, I'm from Minnesota, but I came out here from a company. Minnesota. Pretty young.

Starting point is 00:53:02 my dad's from what area um Mount Car Carmel. Southern on the Kentucky border. Oh, southern. I'm northern, so I'm Rockford, Illinois by Chicago. Oh, I see. Yeah, so we would go up to like Minnesota, Mall of America, all those. I love the Midwest. Mall of America. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Did you go to Mall of America? Oh, yeah, we've been. Yeah. My brother met his wife working there. Oh, my gosh. Where? At the store? At the Camp Snoopy amusement park.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Is it still there? It's Nickelodeon Universe now, but it used to be, originally it was Camp Snoopy and that's where Uncle Matt and Lisa met. Oh, that's so funny. They used to have auditions at that mall for like all that. Do you remember that show on Nickelodeon? Yeah, I do remember that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Oh my gosh. Yeah, but I didn't get anywhere. But I did audition and they used to have a ton of auditions up that way and so we'd always drive up to Minnesota. Who knows if they were legit or not? Maybe they weren't, but it was fun um I agree with you though LA I just like I love it so much but I also get why people move out but you would relocate if you did like Broadway like for a little bit a little bit yeah I would love living in New York for a bit oh my gosh yeah
Starting point is 00:53:58 I love like walking everywhere and like using the subway it's so fun that's so cool how was Lin-Manuelanda when he was on did you get to meet him oh my gosh no because i think i didn't well one i didn't know who he was at the time and then like um i met him though once at the moana premiere and dude i had the biggest hamilton phase like anybody who knew me when i was like eight years old would tell you please i'm obsessed with hamilton too me and then i don't know if you know like reagan reward who was on young sheldon but me and her were best friends at the time and we decided we're like we're gonna do hamilton in our backyard i need to see it they had it planned out they were gonna cast their friends i was hamilton and she was lynn she was um i mean she
Starting point is 00:54:38 was yeah she was burr wow but then my mom was like you know since we're going to the moana premiere you should bring your hamilton music book and see if he's there and we'll sign it for you. Oh my gosh. So I saw him and I tapped him on the back and he turned around and I immediately just freaked out and started sobbing. Oh my gosh. He knew who she was. He turned around and he went, I know you.
Starting point is 00:54:59 I know you. And she lost it. You guys don't understand. I had the biggest crush on this man like i don't know why your crushes him and that ponytail when i was like like theater boys i there i'm like i was like that with ethan slater like everyone i'm always like it's they don't understand like you don't get it unless you're like a theater girly like she was i barely like i've never fangirled like that in my life and it hasn't happened since yeah i don't know who it would happen for if it yeah do you have anyone now like a hyper fixation right now hyper fixation oh i know who
Starting point is 00:55:29 jeremy allen white oh okay i hate to say stuff like this because like what if i end up like working with people like you never know what's gonna happen you're like no no no no i think he's really really talented though and i love the bear and yeah he's great oh timothy chalamet you saw the lookalike contest yes you should have gone there you could have met somebody i could have rizzed you know at the timothy chalamet i do love wait you met him no did you watch bones and all no okay so he was yeah he was in this movie called bones and all and mom was like, I woke up this one morning and my hair was really messy. And she goes, wait, you look like Timothee Chalamet. Freeze.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Ooh! You could enter the contest. Not in a hard way, though. It was like, boy, what the hell? Oh, my God. Like, her arm was all smashed. Like, she had a bullet. I'm like, what the hell?
Starting point is 00:56:20 Wait, this is you? That's me. Side by side. Oh, my God. Wait, that's crazy. Okay, you gotta do it. I was like, wait, what am I? I thought I was, like, in a side-by-side. Oh my god, wait, that's crazy. Okay, you gotta do it. I was like, wait, I thought I was looking at a movie poster or something. They look like brother and sister, like brother and brother.
Starting point is 00:56:29 That's my twin. Like, twin, where have you been? I kind of love that. Shut up. Okay. That's crazy, because you actually do look like him. Oh my god. Like, in that photo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, in general. But it's crazy. She was laying on her bed, and I'm like, and she looked up, and I'm like, wait, freeze. Don't move. She's like, oh, I need to take a picture right now.
Starting point is 00:56:46 Oh my God. I love that. Oh my God. So he's another one. Jeremy Allen White, that's so interesting. Did you see, was it the Iron Claw?
Starting point is 00:56:53 Oh my God. I did watch that. Yeah. That was really, really good. And Zac Efron did a great job. I saw you cosplayed Zac Efron. I love Zac Efron.
Starting point is 00:57:00 I just watched High School Musical 2 for the first time. For the first time? Yes. It was wonderful. I fell asleep, but you know what part I did get to? I was like, what about us? What about, I just watched High School Musical 2 for the first time. For the first time? Yes. It was wonderful. I fell asleep. But you know what part I did get to?
Starting point is 00:57:09 It was like, what about us? What about everything? That's about how far I made it. I love that song. High School Musical is like my musical. But you're so advanced. All the musicals you like, like Alan Cumming, Hamilton, that's so wild for someone so young. Hamilton is not that advanced.
Starting point is 00:57:28 I think everybody at my age has had a Hamilton phase at some point in their life. That one is pretty good it's a canon event yeah um 2014 2014 yeah i feel like seven ish yeah maybe 14 15 14 or 15 yeah oh man that one is so good and did you get to see it on broadway yeah i did and not with the original cast but um my yeah my agency is also the same as jordan fisher's so jordan fisher gave me his house seats because he's so lovely and so we got to see him in it and it was really great he's so good he's in hadestown right now i think i know and is lola tongue still in it too or no yes i think well the last i saw on tiktok yeah i love hadestown that's like one of my favorites too i think i'm gonna do it at a local theater near my house i'm so excited i know i want to audition wait so do you do community theater do you do like stuff with your so you did high school then you did the conservatory
Starting point is 00:58:14 so you just find these auditions like where like in a well for conservatory stuff that you just like kind of audition for it like a pre-screen or like a self-tape and then you just see if you get accepted like a school college programs yeah exactly but um community theater well i mean with school it's easy but um the one now it's like yeah you just audition like anyone can just go if you're in the area yeah like um for kids yeah this one's for kids specifically but yeah so it's like hadestown junior yeah hadestown junior because it just came out this year like people are finally getting the rights to it oh that's cool so it's all kids in the production that's so like looking at you it's just so crazy I can't I like keep forgetting that you're like 17 like you are a kid like it's like
Starting point is 00:58:52 so crazy to think that's gonna be fun oh my god so you like I'm excited and I love that you just go audition because you think like being on a show for so long you would just think like oh they should just like cast me because they know I can act look at my like record but you're like that would be wonderful if they would hey Hey, if any cast would. I would. I think a lot of people assume that. Like, oh yeah, she probably can just get a million offers. But it's not. It's not like that.
Starting point is 00:59:13 That's wild. You do a show for so long. You got nominated for a SAG award at four? I wasn't nominated like me specifically. Was I? The cast. SAG is different since it's peer nominated it's other actors acting voting for the other actors oh and so instead of it like the the emmys and the golden globe it's like the best comedy like the show i see but for sag award it's the best cast ensemble
Starting point is 00:59:36 so you're in that nomination so i think i was the youngest person to win a sag award i'd like to have one oh so you did you guys won that year then? Yeah. They won it like four times in three of the years that you were there. And I think I have three. Yeah. Wow. The year before you were there. I mean, that's what I'm saying. So you win a SAG award at four years old. That's like insane. She holds the record of being the youngest person ever
Starting point is 00:59:57 to walk the Emmy's carpet as a nominee. You were nominated for an Emmy? I didn't see this. The show won the Emmy five times. Not her, but the show won five times yeah yeah but you're in the ensemble like so that do you get like an actual emmy they don't yeah the actors they don't give them emmys but the producers and the directors they get it but you won for best like comedy ensemble so you're in there that is wild that is so crazy oh my god were you intimidated to go i mean the thing is i've always hated doing like interviews and stuff
Starting point is 01:00:23 like that it's always given me like a lot of anxiety growing up yeah because people just ask you weird questions and they ask you like what's what are you excited like I don't know when you just go to random events and people ask you what you're excited for and stuff like that and you're young you don't know what to say and people start talking about politics oh they don't know what to ask like it's the worst so I remember once my mom got me like hypnotized by this lady so that i could like get over that's just for anxiety because she literally started to cry did it work through the hypnotization work i don't know i think i'm definitely less fearful now but that was when i was like 12 and like yeah does it stay with you when you get hypnotized like i've never done that
Starting point is 01:00:59 but i do love the idea of it does it stay with you forever or is it just like temporary like for an hour you're like in this trance i mean i don't really know because the thing of it. Does it stay with you forever or is it just like temporary, like for an hour you're like in this trance? I mean, I don't really know. Cause the thing is some people do it for bigger things. Like, oh, they'll say like, yeah, I did it for smoking and I never smoked again. And it's like, I don't know how that works. It's been successful for a lot of people. Well, you know, I did it, not the same person, but after she was born, I don't know about you after you had your kids, but like i had horrible anxiety and i had
Starting point is 01:01:25 never had any issues like that before and i remember there was at the time when she was born i'm like remember sitting on the couch breastfeeding or whatever and there was some commercial i don't even remember what the commercial was for but it was like an office setting and like the work was piling up around them and it was really frantic and i remember anytime that commercial would come on i would just be like crawling out of my skin. I was having so much anxiety just watching that commercial. And I was just, I couldn't like, you know, you're just, my brain was racing and I couldn't, you're just crazy after you have a baby. You don't have a baby. So, yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:54 Yeah. Yet. But yeah. And so someone suggested that to me. They knew a person. And I actually did it over the phone. This guy was in North Carolina. But I just put the phone on speaker
Starting point is 01:02:05 and i just laid it next to my head and i laid on the bed and it definitely helped me really it definitely helped me to feel calmer and more relaxed is he like telling you stuff like talk like what is like affirmations in your head like you think like because you know we always see stuff in movies like you were getting married yeah it's not you just go into a very deep relaxation and time passes so quickly when you're doing it. You don't even realize, oh, it's been an hour or whatever. Wow. I've never done it. You don't feel it happening or working.
Starting point is 01:02:30 You just feel better afterwards. It just eases it. Have you had anxiety since? Not really, unless somebody asked me something really stupid, but I barely get interviewed anymore. Wow. But are you like, because you did theesse one are you like open to doing like podcasts and stuff or you just don't like love talking about modern family like so sick of it no i mean i'm open to talking about it i mean i think when it comes to like the lore of everything
Starting point is 01:02:53 and how i got on the show it's like i've told people i feel like a lot now i feel like there's nothing more to be said but yeah i mean i had to agree like doing this podcast like i just i wanted to do it so badly and there was i think another guy who also wanted to do a podcast with me, but that was before the Jesse thing. And I was like, I should hold out and do Jesse's. And I feel more comfortable like this. Cause it's like, it feels more like a conversation and whatnot where it's like when you're on red carpets, like, I mean, when you went to the Wicked premiere to people interview you,
Starting point is 01:03:20 like. Not me. No, I was like nobody. I just, I just took pictures and I was like, bye. I mean, I thought that people would like interview. No one yeah i mean it can be stressful like what is like that on the red carpets because that's when they get like heated and they'll ask you things and you have to respond really quick like as a child what was like the craziest thing you remember someone asking you i remember this one time we were like at this charity event and they ask me about like kids with aids in like oh my god sorry
Starting point is 01:03:47 and that's what the charity event was for like they're asking me about kids with aids in africa i'm pretty sure pediatric aids and they're like what do you have to say about it oh my god and i'm like 10 and i'm like yes support yeah great yeah girl don't ask a little child yeah pediatric aids nine or ten did you were you aware of what it was even girl don't ask such a little child about pediatric aging I was like 9 or 10 were you aware of what it was even I don't even remember
Starting point is 01:04:09 what I said and I was not aware of what that yeah like that was a crazy one like she I mean I would I'd be off to the side
Starting point is 01:04:16 and I'd just see like the panic set in her face like oh god oh boy and then what do you say to her in that moment are you like it's fine everything's good you did great
Starting point is 01:04:22 like what do you say or you're just like we just we went through like a long phase like most of the years of like after like a few things like that happened and it really tripped her out like we said you know what you don't have to do the interviews anytime we do carpets it was photos and then we just run past the interviews because yeah like i would literally run and like i would see the people would start to look at me and i literally just be like bye and start running like bye bye. So that's good. I don't care it's not worth it.
Starting point is 01:04:46 You had like an out. Were you ever contractually obligated to give interviews? Like did you ever have to go on like the talk shows like Tonight Show like any of those? Well I was on Jimmy Kimmel once but no I was never like obligated to. What happened? Why? So they weren't interviewed. They had the kids on
Starting point is 01:05:01 to do a sketch. I think it was leading up to the Emmys or something like that. So it was just promotional because it was the same network abc jimmy kim was on abc and so um they had the kids on you know how they'll do a sketch at the beginning and they had him and guillermo and they had the kids playing um family feud boys against girls and guillermo was with the boys and it was you and sarah and ariel or something like that just like three and three and they tried to make it really i think you were it was the year before robin williams died because you met robin williams right robin williams so you were probably like seven years old she's little i remember your i was so cute anyway but um so they tried to make her question really easy like
Starting point is 01:05:37 age appropriate for her and they said name a cartoon dog but you know she's never played a game show before she's seven and she just froze and i was you didn't answer you couldn't think of one and you were like i could tell you were like and like everybody like time stood still and i'm like oh man but you couldn't come up with one i've been so anxious about that stuff ever since I was a kid. I mean, I think. Being put on the spot was definitely a thing. Yeah. As a child on TV is like insane. For sure. And at seven. And then the other kids are, you said, are a good like eight years older
Starting point is 01:06:12 than you. So it's like. Are they even? They're like 25, 26 now, I think. Yeah. So that's. So I guess, yeah. That's wild. So it's like a huge age difference, but they lump you together because you guys are kids and you're just like, well, we're not like quite the same. So. Yeah. That's. So you had to do the interviews. Did you do like a bunch of like magazine covers and stuff too when you were doing modern family magazines no we didn't i mean every year we had to do like an annual photo shoot
Starting point is 01:06:32 for like just for the cover for billboards and stuff like that and were you ever like there's my billboard like taking pictures by it and stuff no i never really like you know flaunted it as a kid really no not really honestly to like after like nine years, like you just, it just becomes normal. It's so weird, but like you see yourself everywhere all the time. Like you're on a bus, you're on a billboard. Yeah. How cool. I mean, I don't know if you ever got used to it, but I was like, yeah, whatever.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Like I never, I mean, you still would get excited at certain things. Like when we went to Disney World and you were on like the tram and stuff. Oh, that's cool. I was like, I don't even remember that. That's fine. That's why, like that's, I couldn't even imagine that must be the most surreal thing. To see that now, I'd be like, oh my God, that's cool i don't even remember that that's fine that's why like that's i couldn't even imagine that must be the most surreal thing to see that now i'd be like oh my god that's so cool yeah no if i saw my studios they had lots of modern family yeah they used to have a really big
Starting point is 01:07:12 they had like the really big ones on the side of the studio the sets and it just were like you're like it's just normal and it's funny because like it was so normal for me as a kid but it's like i'm wondering if i ever book something again or something happen with music. Like, I can't even imagine what it would be like to do that again, where it's like you're just seen all the time everywhere. Do you want to be that? You want to be weird again? Yeah. No, I think I would most definitely do it again, but it would feel, like, surreal. It would feel like the first time.
Starting point is 01:07:38 Because, like, I've always said this, too. Like, where it's like, so you've been to the Emmys and you've done all this and, like, whatever. Like, you must be, like, so accomplished. And it's like, you don't realize what a big deal it is at that age yeah so like if i was to ever be nominated for anything like ever again it would it would be such an emotional thing for me which is like like back then it just wasn't at all yeah it would mean so much more for me like like literally so she was five when she was in kindergarten and the emmys are
Starting point is 01:08:05 um i don't know if they still are things change a little bit after the pandemic but they were always on a sunday and she literally went to school the next monday morning and she went did you go to the emmys last night oh my god and the kid was like no i get like what is that yeah but like to her that was just normal you go to the the Emmys every year. You have nothing to compare it to. That is so wild. So yeah, you think now you'd have more of an appreciation if you're getting nominated. And to have it twice happen in your life, kind of like Ed O'Neill, right? He was in Married with Children, so it's like that was his big show.
Starting point is 01:08:38 But then Modern Family, two big shows in your lifetime. It's pretty amazing. So you would do another big TV show. Could you go into one right now, like a huge show? I don't know what's out there bridgerton or something like would you go into it i love bridgerton and i haven't watched the new season i'm still in the second season but i go in like phases where i get hyper fixated on it for a couple days and then i won't like think about it for like a month but no literally i love that show oh you haven't seen this third season it's like the best season it's so good and they're filming the fourth right now it's Benedict and it's oh my god I'm so excited
Starting point is 01:09:08 I love yeah would you go into like a big like I know that they're all British but like would you go into a big show like that absolutely you would I would love to do that yeah okay great so you're not like okay so because you were done with Modern Family you said when it was done you were like kind of relieved it's over but now you're like no i could do it again no i could 100 do it again wow yeah i'm so ready to work i'm so ready yeah okay i really love that because i didn't know i know you were like really focused on like your band and doing like your own thing which i think is really cool but that'd be so amazing to see what other tv shows are you loving right now oh well i love ted lasso and shrinking shrinking Ted Lasso it's the same creators of Ted Lasso oh what is it
Starting point is 01:09:47 it's about these psychologists it's really good is it Jason Segel yes okay Harrison Ford oh I don't watch it he's so good
Starting point is 01:09:53 he's so adorable and good at it it's comedy can you remind you of Grandpa a little bit but not grumpy my dad's not grumpy but he kind of reminds me
Starting point is 01:10:00 is this character just because of the age yeah I know I know what you mean oh we watch Only Murders Oh Only Murders Oh so good the new season
Starting point is 01:10:08 was amazing oh my gosh yeah those are yeah that Selena Gomez is a good example of like a child star who like became
Starting point is 01:10:14 this like really great adult star she's a producer on that show oh is she yeah the three of them produced it as well oh my god
Starting point is 01:10:20 that's so cool like to be able to do that yeah I just saw like her and Benny Blanco are dating too currently yes and it seems like they're so happy with one another and I'm really happy for them Oh my God, that's so cool to be able to do that. Yeah. I just saw her and Benny Blanco are dating too currently. Yes. And it seems like they're so happy with one another and I'm really happy for them.
Starting point is 01:10:29 And I think Benny is so talented. He's made so many pop songs where I'm like, I can't believe it. I can't believe it. So many iconic songs. And he seems so relatable too. You see him and you're kind of like, I could be friends with that person, but also a genius in every single way. He was just in Sexiest Man Alive.
Starting point is 01:10:44 He got one of the titles in the new people. Yeah. I think the number one was John Krasinski. I think he won. I just saw that today. Yeah. Love it. I don't know what he's doing, but I'm like, that's kind of great.
Starting point is 01:10:53 That's kind of a slay. I wanted Jonathan Bailey from British and Wicked. I was like hoping maybe he would get it. Who would you like, what is it called, want to be the sexiest man alive? Like who do you think? Oh, yeah. Who do you think? God, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:11:05 I need a second to think about it. You don't have like a celebrity crush. Jeremy Allen White. No, just kidding. I'm sure he didn't. No, Jeremy. He should have been nominated this year. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:12 Or Timothy. Was he nominated? He wasn't either. Jeremy Allen White should be because he's doing the Bruce Springsteen. Like he's very relevant right now. Not to say John Krasinski's not, but I'm just saying like that makes sense for him to be on it. All the gladiator boys.
Starting point is 01:11:23 I mean that Calvin Fein ad. Oh, yeah. That made him really blow up. I I mean I feel like that should have yeah yeah yeah I'm kind of surprised he's not I guess I don't know people everyone was a little upset they're kind of like what it's kind of like odd that they didn't have it but no yeah the celebrity crush is real so you don't you don't crush on celebrities like I do but I'm trying to think who like there's gotta be someone I like right now and of course i mean everybody loves jacob alorti i feel like because of salt burn and so good and barry keoghan from salt burn everyone really likes i love barry i love barry keoghan more than what's his name jacob alorti same when i watched that he's great i like him i know yeah he's a great actor who would be your dream actor
Starting point is 01:11:59 on actor if you were interviewing another actor oh i, I don't know. I'm trying to think. Like someone you love, admire? I feel like I'd want to do another – I'm trying to think if I wanted to be somebody I know or somebody that I don't know. Oh, right. I guess sometimes – It just depends. Because I was going to say maybe Emma.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Emma? Emma Watson. Oh. Because she's kind of like a close friend of mine or mentor. And I would love to interview her. That would be great. Oh, my gosh. She has so many wonderful things to say constantly.
Starting point is 01:12:32 So, yeah. Oh, she's so legendary, too, being part of so many epic movies and stuff. Yeah. Oh, that's amazing. She's the sweetest. And you can just call her up and be like, hey. Kind of, yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 01:12:42 That's so cool. I love to hear that about her because she is such a mega star and she's like super like private so you just don't know anyone that's like friends with her so to hear that she's like a really cool no for real and i won't talk too much about her because she is a private person but yeah she's been such a great mentor in my life oh she's like she's a great one another child star that turned into like you know a huge success which is like really cool what's your dream mukbang oh i don't know well obviously we did a crumble one but like i want to do like a crazy crumble one where i get
Starting point is 01:13:10 like the big cookies like because we just did like the little ones and like yeah we just got a sampler one oh you guys don't you never have the big ones like the full size the big ones like one of them every now and then i'm like i don't yeah and if you're on the diet right now it's hard it's like oh like it's such a thanksgiving time like korean fried chicken like something with that yeah i'm like i the bb.q chicken have you had that before no we haven't really it's like the big korean what is the sauce that was on there it's like this big korean like chicken it's like a um it's in northridge do you remember the sauce we had they have like the kimchi and everything with it it's really good and it's right next to the Two Hands.
Starting point is 01:13:46 Have you been there? The Korean fried cheese place? Oh, I've heard about that. No, I haven't been. So they're right next to each other. Yeah, but I used to, we mostly used to live in Koreatown and so I used to love
Starting point is 01:13:53 the Korean barbecue and stuff. But yeah. Do you guys, do you cook ever? She doesn't like to cook very much. I like cooking sometimes. It's a lot. But we're both really good at baking.
Starting point is 01:14:03 Yeah. Oh, that's a talent. Like measuring it and all that stuff. I can't do it. I never measure. You don't? That's why people cook say like, I love cooking because you can just kind of eyeball it. Oh, I love this baking. You do that. You ruin the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:14:17 I tried making a souffle pancake and it was flat. Because I was like, I can't figure this out. Like whipping it and all that stuff is like too complicated. Yeah, there's a science to like too much air, too much salt, not enough baking soda. Oh, it and all that stuff. It's like too complicated. Yeah, there's a science to like too much air, too much salt. Not enough that it's baking soda water. Oh, it might never work. So that's like a real talent. So crumble's your favorite.
Starting point is 01:14:31 What about like food, food? Like food? Oh, I love sushi. Actually, maybe that's dream mukbang. Like sushi, spicy tuna, crispy rice. That is my favorite. There's one in, what's the one in Hollywood? It's like a pink box.
Starting point is 01:14:44 Have you had that one? No, I haven't. Sugarfish? No, it's not sugarfish, but it's like, it's my favorite. There's one in, what's the one in Hollywood? It's like a pink box. Have you had that one? No, I haven't. Sugarfish? No, it's not sugarfish, but it's like, it's, do you remember the name of it? Remember we got it during quarantine? It was the crispy tuna one. Pink box. Okay, never mind.
Starting point is 01:14:54 It might be too much. He's a big sushi fan too. I like sushi. I like it, but. What's better than a well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue? A well-marbled ribeye sizzling on the barbecue that was carefully selected by an Instacart shopper and delivered to your door. A well-marbled ribeye you ordered without even leaving the kiddie pool. Whatever groceries your summer calls for, Instacart has
Starting point is 01:15:16 you covered. Download the Instacart app and enjoy $0 delivery fees on your first three orders. Service fees, exclusions, and terms apply. Instacart. Groceries that over-deliver. Sugarfish is amazing. We don't have one out here. She loves it. And I could not get this girl to eat fish forever. Yeah. Now she's like, raw fish.
Starting point is 01:15:37 Now you love raw fish. No, for real. And I would say for a mukbang specifically, dream mukbang to film, I feel like I want to do one of those big ones where there's like talkie dusted and it's like the ramen and like those look just like Nikocado style. Like those look disgusting and I want it. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:15:54 I feel like I just have to do it once. The Nikocado one is wild or jelly bean sweets right now with those giant burritos. She like eats those. I know. And she gets like so much hate right now. And I'm like, dude, if she wants to, she's living her best life. She's eating. And yeah. Yeah. I mean, I love it. I love a mukbang. I love that like so much hate right now. And I'm like, dude, if she wants to, she's living her best life. She's eating. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:05 Yeah. I mean, I love it. I love a muck baked queen. I love that you guys do it together too. Because you were like vlogging on Modern Family. You were like eating a baked potato or something in one of the food vlogs. Oh, yeah. Like the food on set and stuff.
Starting point is 01:16:14 Yeah. I'll have his lunch at work. Yeah. I mean, it did look good. It looked very tasty. I kind of forgot that was like your go-to lunch for a long time. The baked potato. It was either that or a slice of cheese pizza.
Starting point is 01:16:24 I know. It was our grilled cheese. Yeah. I got sick of the grilled cheese. Which is it going to be? It was the pizza, though. What a door of baked potato. That's like the dream life. I mean, I know it's like you didn't get a regular childhood, but how fun. It's all that food. There was always food. Yeah, we had like a whole
Starting point is 01:16:40 room for craft services where it was like We had really, really good crafty and I didn't even really realize how good it was until i booked some jobs on other shows like co-stars guest stars or whatever yeah and i can't remember what show it was but it was also it was a sitcom and their craft service was like a closet with like a couple granola bars like some old cupcakes that someone brought i was like like catering it felt like every day. I was like, what the crap? I'm like, what? I'm like, where's like the 500 kinds of seafood? We had like an open fridge
Starting point is 01:17:08 and like a freezer full of popsicles and ice cream bars and really three kinds of bacon and five kinds of eggs and then we would get like really great stuff
Starting point is 01:17:19 like catered in every day like Tito's tacos and panadas and okay bars. We'd have a huge salad bar every morning. You guys make me hungry. No, literally. Now I'm hungry.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Oh, my God. I can't do this. Oh, I know. And you're like, I love my baby carrots. You love baby carrots. I know. That's so, and you're done with that in December then. You can just go back to eating.
Starting point is 01:17:38 December. I started it yesterday, so December 12th will be my last day. Thanksgiving too? You're going to just. We don't do a big Thanksgiving usually so but even if we do like I'm fine I can just eat turkey and vegetables it's fine it'll be fine it's kind of a healthy
Starting point is 01:17:51 meal when you don't think about Thanksgiving it's kind of like you said just turkey and like stuffing mashed potatoes and stuff that's what I want no I literally love mashed potatoes somebody criticized me the other day for saying that my favorite thing at Thanksgiving was mashed potatoes and Who criticized that? Yeah, that's everyone's favorite.
Starting point is 01:18:06 I know. I'm like, are you literally lame? Like, what do you mean? Was it on Reddit? Don't read Reddit. Are you still reading it now? No, on Reddit. No, it was one of my other actor friends. And I was like, I can't believe he's hating on me for this right now.
Starting point is 01:18:14 What about Isaiah? She hated. Oh, that's sad. Yeah, Isaiah, sorry. But she did. She hated mashed potatoes when she was a kid. I could not get her to eat it. I'm like, no, you are not my child.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Mashed potatoes is the best. But you know what? My daughters don't like it either. And I'm like, but it's so soft and creamy. I could not get her to eat them. I'm like, you are not my child. Mashed potatoes is the best. But you know what? My daughters don't like it either. And I'm like, but it's so soft and creamy. They love french fries, but not potatoes. One day they'll like it. But now she loves it. Best mashed potatoes are KFC, in my opinion.
Starting point is 01:18:33 I love a KFC mashed potato. I mean, we make our own, but we love them. I haven't had KFC mashed potatoes, I don't think. Oh my God, they're so good. Okay. I'll have to keep that in mind. I don't eat it very often, but when you want it, it's like, watch out. Yeah, same. There's just something that's like, ugh. Because there's often but when you want it it's like watch out yeah same
Starting point is 01:18:45 because there's nothing else like it and it's so horrible and greasy and really not that good but it's so good I did get a little sick we had it Sunday night for the first time oh my god I used to eat it everyday though and like never get sick and then we had it Sunday night and I got like actually kind of sick from it because I just like to eat the skin off the chicken
Starting point is 01:19:02 it's so like crispy it's so amazing I'm sure eat the skin off the chicken. It's so like... Oh, it's so good. It's so good. Yes. And it's like crispy. It's so amazing. I'm sure you've had Korean fried chicken, right? Yes. Have you had Kyochon? What one we had at the mall? The Korean chicken that you love.
Starting point is 01:19:15 Or the Galleria in Gritham. Yeah, yeah. I forgot what it's called, but yeah, we used to go over there all the time. They had the big crispy chicken. Which one did you say? This is in K-Town. It's on... I can't remember what street, but it's called Kyochon Chicken Wings. I love it. That's like my favorite food. And it's a chain from Korea.
Starting point is 01:19:32 And it's the only one here in LA. And they have it in K-Town. And they have a few different flavors, but the best one is the honey wings. Oh, I haven't had honey wings. They're amazing. I don't know what kind of past. Korean fried chicken is amazing. It's so moist and, like, hot on the inside, and then it's crunchy and sweet and salty on the outside.
Starting point is 01:19:52 Oh, God, I'm just – How do they do that? How do they make it so juicy but also, like you said, really crispy, well done on the outside? It's the way they dredge it because Slava, our friend, the dad of the family, he tried to recreate it, and he said it was such a pain in the ass. He was like, it was so much work just to make it at home. I can't even imagine. Oh, it's so good.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Oh, when we lived on there, I lived in the morning at the Grove. He was in Koreatown. But we used to always go to that little gallery at that mall. And it was so good. The chicken there, it was amazing. And then that's when I first had the fried cheese. It was like Mayim Grong hot dog. And it was really, really good.
Starting point is 01:20:24 And they had it. Oh, yeah, those Korean corn first had the fried cheese it was like Mayan Grong hot dog and it was really really good those Korean corn dogs I had one of those last week those are my favorite I think I could have done like 50 have you ever done those for a mukbang? no I haven't we like try foods that we've never had before what's that let's try that
Starting point is 01:20:41 that's fun so something like you've never a little review have you ever had uni? i still haven't what's that like sea urchin yeah no i'm scared of that yeah that's what everyone like hates he loves it but we just had someone on here that's like oh i hate it but i'm like that's like his favorite like you can find me quite people who love it love it yeah she hasn't had an oyster like a raw oyster yet i'm also scared to try that. I haven't either. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:21:06 There's a video of me eating one somewhere. And like, I guess I get like a, and it was maybe the third time. Because I really believe in keep trying stuff because you eventually can develop a taste for stuff. But I have tried oysters three or four times now. And I'm like, oh, it tastes like a mouthful of snotty. Yes. A snot of like chewy snot. That's his favorite food.
Starting point is 01:21:27 Chewy snot. You like chewy snot? But I'm with you. It tastes like I'm drinking the ocean. I'm like, what? And then it's, oh, you gotta put hot sauce and everything. I have to kill the taste with something else. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:21:37 Why am I eating it? Yeah. It's the worst actually. You have to slide it down your throat. Everything about it is. It is like you got a mouthful of snot. Yes. It's the worst actually. You have to like slide it down your throat. Like everything about it is – And it's like you got a mouthful of snot. Yes. It's so nasty.
Starting point is 01:21:46 But it's chewy. But the consistency is like rubbery and chewy and like – It's awful. It really is. People love it. He goes crazy for an oyster. People go feral, bruh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:57 Going to Mastro's, getting some oysters. It's like they're all you. What's a crazy food you guys want to try that you haven't? Dubai chocolate. Have you tried that? I haven't had it yet. We haven't had it you guys want to try oh that you haven't dubai chocolate have you tried that we haven't had it i want to find it okay baskin robbins i think that has the dubai chocolate ice cream bars have you seen it on tiktok no now i need to try this two days ago oh gosh what is her name oh there's a really popular mukbanger i can't think of her name but um she just tried it and it's like the ice cream bar and it's like the green I want to try it so bad I can't find him either
Starting point is 01:22:27 I don't know where people are getting them they have them in New York I know like a couple places have the Dubai chocolate in New York last time we were in New York we had talked about it
Starting point is 01:22:34 we just didn't have enough time I know some people are making them on their own but it's like no I feel like it wouldn't be like the true experience there's one in OC
Starting point is 01:22:40 called Chimney Cakes they make like cute little ice creams and they have it and they were supposed to send me some but they like never did so I was like maybe I have to make a I know I'll make a trip down Chimney Cakes. They make cute little ice creams and they have it. And they were supposed to send me some, but they never did. So I was like, maybe I have to make a trip down. Chimney Cakes. No, thanks, Chimney Cakes. They didn't send it to us.
Starting point is 01:22:52 No, but that one would be... Because what's in it? What's the green stuff? Pistachio. Yeah. That would be really good. And then what is the stuff called that's like the crunchy stuff? Isn't it like phyllo or something? Yeah, it's phyllo, I think. Oh, I don't even know what that is. Have you ever had baklava? It's a Middle Eastern thing. I never had it, no. What? Do you like buttery things? Oh, I love buttery things. You like Yeah, it's phyllo, I think. Oh, I don't even know what that is. Have you ever had baklava? It's a Middle Eastern thing. I never had it, no. What? Do you like buttery things? Oh, I love buttery things.
Starting point is 01:23:08 Okay, you're like nuts, girl. And honey. Yes, I do. Love the nuts. Okay, so you would love it, then. I mean, baklava. Baklava is like so good. Have I had it? Baklava is a paper-thin buttery pastry.
Starting point is 01:23:23 And they do layers of like, I mean, it's literally like paper thin. And then honey and butter mixture with different nuts. So sometimes it's like walnuts or sometimes it's pistachio. Oh, I do love nuts. Then they pour like this butter honey over it. Then another layer. Pour the honey. And it's just like, oh my God.
Starting point is 01:23:41 It's so crunchy. Just like right down. Oh my gosh. I love a dessert is it sweet or is it savory it's
Starting point is 01:23:48 it's sweet but it's a little salty too because it's butter and honey together like have you ever just had like toast with butter and then you put honey on it it's like that but better
Starting point is 01:23:56 but with pastry like thin thin crunchy pastry though it is outrageous any dessert like that I would try have you ever tried a crepe cake yeah
Starting point is 01:24:03 I just had one I made a little mukbang with my friend just for fun I didn't even post it you ever tried a crepe cake? Yeah. Yes, I just had one. I made a little mukbang with my friend just for fun. I didn't even post it, but I had a crepe cake in it. It's so good. What kind was it? Was it like a matcha? Was it rainbow?
Starting point is 01:24:11 Like, what was it? It was just a plain, like, vanilla one. Yeah. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've had a rainbow one, too, and those are fantastic. There is also a bakery near you guys. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. For hours.
Starting point is 01:24:22 Have you ever seen the show Hacks? Do you watch Hacks? No, I haven't watched it. Oh, I do. I love it. So good, right? They have this, like, in what? I think it's I'm sorry. For hours. Have you ever seen the show Hacks? Do you watch Hacks? No, I haven't watched it. Oh, I do. I love it. So good, right? They have this like in one, I think it's the season three. They start off with like a coconut cake.
Starting point is 01:24:30 Have you heard that? Yes, yes. The one that Tom Cruise sends everybody. That's at the bakery, but it's- Yes. Oh, yeah. And you never, oh, you have to have it. Yeah, you've had it.
Starting point is 01:24:36 It's good. Oh, it's so good. It's one of my favorite. Did they bring it over? Maybe. Yeah, I think so. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:42 Oh my God, that's so bougie. They are so like, that bakery is so lucky that that happened to them. Right. Because there's just a mom and pop place. Yeah. Have you ever. Really? Yeah. Oh my God, that's so bougie. They're like, here's a cake. They are so like, that bakery is so lucky that that happened to them. Right. Because there's just a mom and pop place. Yeah. Have you ever been there? Yeah. It's a mom and pop place.
Starting point is 01:24:51 And like if you go there, depending if it's like that time of the year, like, because now they sell on Gold Belly because they're so famous for the cake because of Tom Cruise. And you go there, like you'll see all the Gold Belly boxes like piled up because they're getting ready to ship them out. So smart. Love Gold Belly too. Shout out Gold Belly boxes like piled up because they're getting ready to ship them out so smart love Gold Belly too shout out Gold Belly yes you can order like anything like famous foods really go kind of oh my gosh yeah like oh they sell this do you buy chocolate yeah send to you maybe you probably do we should it's time yeah oh my gosh I love it I mean honestly talking about
Starting point is 01:25:23 food like this is my favorite thing in the whole world because it's my happiness. It's the thing that brings me most joy. It really is for me. It's food, crocheting, playing music. Is October the band playing anywhere coming up? No, not as of current. But yeah, I wish. Yeah, we're practicing. We added a new band member recently. We just added a keyboardist. But yeah, over the summer, we're practicing. We added a new band member recently. We just added a keyboardist. Oh, wow. But yeah, over the summer, we just didn't really practice a lot because I was doing theater stuff and I was working on that. Yeah, because they're all high school students too. And now I'm not in school, so I'm not as busy.
Starting point is 01:25:56 But the rest of them, you know, college applications, they want to get into Berkeley School of Music and things like that. Wow, I was an athlete. Like, they're all so busy. We all do different things. Yeah, this is like the age in life where people just, like, separate, go their own ways
Starting point is 01:26:07 and you gotta figure out if you're gonna see each other or if you're not. For sure. So it's like, I think after next year, like, we probably won't play in a band together.
Starting point is 01:26:12 So that's why I'm really focusing on doing my own music. Yeah. Any plans coming up for the holidays? For the holidays? Not really because, well, she's on her dive
Starting point is 01:26:20 for Thanksgiving. So you're like, well, we had kind of maybe thought we were gonna go to Japan, but then... Yeah, we thought about it we wanted to go to disneyland there and i know you really love disneyland yes the seat tokyo at sea have you guys been no have you been no i'm that is so weird mo's gonna test this i literally told him yesterday it's all we talk about oh my god i show him all the tiktoks of the like little alien mochi that That's what I want. Yeah. I want them so bad. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:26:45 Oh, wait. Are you guys thinking about going this year still? Maybe. And like the spring maybe. Or next spring or next fall. Because you know you don't want to go during the summer. That's what I heard. It is like oppressively hot.
Starting point is 01:26:54 Like trust me. And then it can snow and stuff in the windows. So like spring or fall. Yeah. Spring is like the peak, peak travel tourism season. So like it's expensive. The airfare is expensive. It's super. Because Japan is already crowded. But it's expensive the airfare is expensive it's super because japan's already crowded but it's even doubly crowded and i don't know if you know this
Starting point is 01:27:10 about like disney over there like they don't have the reservation system and stuff like we do literally people will get up at like five in the morning and wait in a line to get through the front gate oh my god so we'll be doing that if we got there like i don't think you have a choice you were a modern family. You should be able to get there at, like, front of the line. You would think. No. They don't?
Starting point is 01:27:29 The glory days of the VIP guides are over. Wait, really? Oh, yeah. We could talk about, yeah. So, basically, like, growing up, since I worked for Disney, they gave me a free guide every single time that I went, and we basically just went through the exit of all the rides and just got on immediately. So, did you think also everybody just did that? Were you all the rides and just got on immediately so did
Starting point is 01:27:45 you think also everybody just did that were you ever no i don't think so okay you're like this is really special no i knew that i was really lucky for that oh and um now i we have a season pass and we just go all the time now so have you waited in line or do you still do we do we buy the lightning but still you gotta wait and preserve and plot oh that's crazy i feel like once you work for disney they should just give you lifetime vips like i feel like i feel like i don't understand like how that i mean honestly like we just know what we got yeah but like so because you know there's like you can anybody can buy a vip guy right so um but the vip like i can't remember they call it something like the celebrity treatment or whatever.
Starting point is 01:28:25 Right. That's even, like, a step above. Because when you are just, like, a civilian, you hire a VIP guide, you don't get front of line privileges. They help you just get your reservations and stuff in order. I could be a guide at that point. Like, literally. Right, right.
Starting point is 01:28:38 I know my way around Disneyland, like, so well. You're like, I don't need it. But if you are like considered you know like a recognizable person yeah they don't want you
Starting point is 01:28:50 waiting in lines even like a short line because you're considered a security risk because crowds can gather and you know and so like so she had it
Starting point is 01:29:00 the whole time she was on the show as soon as the show was over done really but then I'm like you know people who are super famous but who aren't on ABCc disney shows like do they have to pay for
Starting point is 01:29:08 themselves does like disney provide it i think they are really strict i talked to a few other people that were justin bieber or something oh my god you know who i saw at disneyland once james charles oh that's so funny like i know i just want i felt like saying that no literally i don't know if he had a guide or anything i think he was just there like no literally i was like a like walking like you know like new orleans square yeah and i like looked to my right of pirates and i'm like why did i just see james charles no because i didn't want to bother him you don't go up to celebrities even though you are a celebrity maybe if i like really really like them but i just was like i'm gonna let james be and do his thing wow i don't think i've ever seen
Starting point is 01:29:48 anyone famous at disneyland really i've seen john stamos bunches of times like he's literally my friend saw sabrina carpenter and barry keoghan together once at the florida one yeah i'm disney world because he has a season pass there i actually see i've seen like quite a few celebrities i know courtney and travis go there go there. But Tokyo Disney is the dream. I also want to go to Hong Kong Disney. Really small. Oh, you've been to that one? No, but, you know, I was in Hong Kong.
Starting point is 01:30:11 This was pre-pandemic. This was when she was a toddler. And I kind of wanted to go, but the guy who was – I was there doing comedy shows, and the guy who was kind of my host there, he was like, I mean, if you want to go, like, we can make it happen. He's like, I think since you've been to Disneyland and Disney World so many times, you'll be disappointed because it's really small in comparison. Oh, interesting.
Starting point is 01:30:29 That was how many years? You said like 15 years ago? This is when she was a toddler, so over 10 years ago. Because they built an errand aisle now, I've seen. That's what I've seen on TikTok. So that's like the reason I want to go. But it does look smaller. Tokyo is bigger.
Starting point is 01:30:39 I know Tokyo is also really cheap. They're Disney over there. No, like the food is cheaper. The food is cheap. And the dollar is really strong over there right now that's what I've been saying we should go before like
Starting point is 01:30:47 yeah the whole economy is ruined I don't know I know right just in case go right now I'm like book a ticket tomorrow have you been to
Starting point is 01:30:54 have you guys been to Japan no I've never been so I'm really excited for where we go I'm really excited for that trip that would be so funny yeah a lot of people
Starting point is 01:31:01 are over there right now and I'm like oh that looks so fun I know everybody went last year they had like record tourism and the Japanese people were literally like stop
Starting point is 01:31:07 were they over it yeah because it was just like because you know everybody's freaking rude yeah like compared to Japanese people they go over there
Starting point is 01:31:14 they're disrespectful of the culture and I hate that yeah I guess then it gets like overcrowded especially now everyone's like going there
Starting point is 01:31:19 I was like there is a weird surgence of it but yeah we might go to Korea next year we might oh I think we're gonna go to Dominica oh yeah we're gonna go to korea next year we got oh and we might oh i think
Starting point is 01:31:25 we're gonna go to dominica and oh yeah we're gonna go for like a fun yoga retreat thingy oh you have a lot of trips coming up then yeah we're excited we want we need to get to new york there's so many shows we want to see in new york right now we're dying like oh my god we're going to go to new york same we're going to new york uh this next month and i'm like oh my god i want to see everything i want to see romeo and to see Romeo and Juliet with Rachel Zegler. Oh, my God. Barbie Ferreira is in a show right now. I want to go see her.
Starting point is 01:31:49 I want to see Gypsy. Oh, yeah. Charlie D'Amelio is in a show right now. She's in Juliet. And Juliet. Yes. But I think she's ensemble. But she's killing it.
Starting point is 01:31:56 People are like, oh, she's just ensemble. I was like, oh, she's kind of killing it in there, though. No, I bet she's killing it. I mean, she's a professional dancer. I mean, that's what she does. So good. So yeah. I mean, the musical, my friend just saw it like literally a couple nights ago called
Starting point is 01:32:06 Swept Away. Have you heard about that one? No. It's supposed to be amazing. She said it was great. What is that one about? I don't even know what it's about, but it's very- There's Asian people in it, I think.

Starting point is 01:32:47 it would be like other one of with the that you said what's his face his girlfriend is in um was that not something oh i don't know what andrew barth feldman's girlfriend is currently in it what is it the musical yeah it's a musical wait that's one of the asian people in it that's one that i'm thinking of but But I'm trying to think. Anyway, but there's so many shows we want to see. Yes, Sunset Boulevard just came back. Oh, my God, yeah. That one looks so good.
Starting point is 01:33:12 I also want to see the new Tammy Faye. There's a Tammy Faye one with Christian Borle. I heard Death Becomes Her is good, too. Yeah. Oh, Death Becomes Her. Yes, Megan Hilty, I want to see that. Smash comes in January. But they're closing a lot of shows.
Starting point is 01:33:23 I saw today that they're closing a ton of shows, like Back to the Future is closing and all these shows. Yeah, so anyways want to see that. Smash comes in January. But they're closing a lot of shows. I just saw today that they're closing a ton of shows. Like Back to the Future's closing and all these shows. Yeah. So anyways, go see Broadway because I really don't want it to be closing. It's like so sad. The tickets are expensive though, you know? They really are. I saw The Notebook the last time that I went and like Joy Woods. Oh my god. So iconic. Oh, I never got to see it.
Starting point is 01:33:40 Is it still on Broadway right now? I think it is. Yeah. So many shows. I know. It's pretty close, I feel. But I guess it's like, yeah, go see it. Hop over there. I know. We haven't been since pre-pandemic, so I'm excited to go see it and see all that stuff. And get the Dubai chocolate, girl.
