Episode Date: October 4, 2026Dante Pride has built a life at the intersection of realness, music, ministry, marriage, and faith. In this episode, Crystal sits down with the artist and pastor to talk about what happens when visibi...lity increases and why grace should never become permission to stay the same. They get into growing alongside your spouse, protecting what matters as success grows, the tension between faith and fear, and what real transformation looks like when God is still working on you. This is a conversation about grace and growth — and the courage to let God change you without losing who He called you to be.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sometimes we pray for God to open doors, give us more, and take us to the next level.
But we don't always think about who we have to become to carry what we're asking for.
Today is about faith, fear, marriage, and what it really means to let God transform you along the way.
Because becoming who you are is only the beginning.
Today I'm sitting down with artist and pastor Dante Pride.
Dante has been writing and recording music since he was 12 years old.
And today he is next-gen pastor to our church, Change Church Atlanta.
and number one, billboard charting artist
with a new EP,
Come As You Are.
But today, we're going beyond the titles.
We're talking about what God really requires,
growing alongside your spouse,
and why Grace should never become an excuse to stay the same.
Kids family, please give a very warm welcome to Dante Pride.
Dante, what's going on?
Yo, man, I'm good, man.
I'm excited to be here.
Thank you.
I'm happy to have you here.
I'm with Big Crystal Renee.
Stop it.
No, I'm with the Dante Pride.
We're happy to have you here.
When your name came across, I was like, we have to.
We've been talking about this.
You got new music out.
So excited about everything you have going on.
Thank you.
But before we get into all that, you see, we got two rapper mics.
Uh-oh.
All right, we got them in front of us.
Shout out She got us playing this game.
You're a rapper.
Yeah.
I am not.
Now, I did have one.
I feel like you got it in you.
You know, I used to write poetry when I was little.
And I did like have the best freestyle for the BET Cypher.
Yeah.
But that was because my ghost writer was Rhapsody.
Shout out Raph.
So I killed it because of her.
But you want to play?
Let's play.
All right.
All right.
Let's do it all right.
Let's grab our mics.
Don't be nervous. You got this.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
The first one is just going to drop the beat when I say drop the beat.
But I'm going to give you the first line and then you can freestyle with it.
Okay, I bet.
All right.
The first line is Alabama.
raise me to
Shelley, drop that beat.
Yeah.
Hold on.
Listen.
Oh, yeah.
Alabama raised me to just
grind and go get it.
Let me take you, man.
I'm out here hustling.
The Bible of the fittest, man.
I'm in Atlanta now.
It's the home of the braids.
I had to tell Satan get back and behave
because look, I'm on a mission.
I got to get it.
Let me tell you, I'm in the kitchen.
With Crystal, you know we're getting it.
Hold on.
I'm not a freestyle.
Yes, I'm just a right.
The enemy try to pull up on me.
I said, guess what?
I'm a fighter.
Hold on.
Guess what?
Okay, we're in the kitchen.
They say, oh, I don't know how long I got to bring it back.
Okay, man, I'm about to lean back like Cadillac.
I can't hear the beat.
I feel like I'm losing the track.
Hold on.
Did I lose the beat?
You killed it.
No, it ran out.
Listen, I ain't no freestyle.
I write all day.
Yo, you kill that.
I write all day.
All right.
Next one.
Oh, this is going to be good.
My wife would say I.
All right, Sally, drop that beat.
Listen, my wife would say that I'm that dude.
She would say that I'm a husband.
She would call me Dante, aka Mr. McLeodvin.
Okay, I lead her because I'm the priest of the household.
Man, I'm casting out every demon and every stronghold.
Like, hold on.
I put that ring on the finger.
I said, let me come and show you what that Bamma boy about.
I'm allegiance to Christ.
I'm allegiance to the fountain.
And we're going to conquer every hill and conquer every mountain.
I'm like, with Jesus.
The reason's the head, listen, it's nothing that we can't do.
And let me tell you, even when we feel like we're losing, we can't lose.
Okay, I'm in this thing, and I'm with Crystal Renee.
I got my wife in the cup, tell her, babe, hey.
And listen, hello, I gotta keep going.
And even when the stream stop, I'ma keep flowing.
Okay, yeah, my wife, that's my queen, and we standing tall like we're on the rock.
It's y'all mean, baby, yeah.
Wow.
Talk about I don't freestyle.
Did it again.
You plan.
All right, last one.
Oh, we got one more.
One more.
Ooh, this is good.
I like what this happens.
If the check clears.
Oh.
Oh.
All right, Shelly.
Drop that beat.
Yeah.
Hold on.
Listen, if the check clears, I'm too legit.
I'm going to change church and I'm a tie 10%.
Uh, yeah, this is how we do it.
And guess what?
When I'm with Jesus, guess what?
I'm super fluent and I come to him like, hold on, let's hit up Linux.
After I pay my 10% we hitting up LV.
I already know, man, I got, ah, I lost the beat.
But guess what?
We're going to keep going because we live.
Yeah, and we drive.
Yeah.
How long.
And we dive.
And when I get the check, we outside.
Yeah, let me tell you, hold on.
They be like DP.
Yeah, you be on it.
When you get their bag, what you're doing?
I'm feeding the homeless.
Okay, I'm paying flight bills.
I'm paying vehicles too.
I already know.
This is what the Christians do.
Hold on, Crystal.
I feel like I'm losing the beat, but guess what?
I'm on fire, man.
I can feel the heat and I lost it.
But guess what?
You never lost it.
Y'all are crazy.
Y'all look crazy.
So listen, you didn't put me on the spot.
You didn't put me on the spot.
All right.
So now I feel like we need to see what you got.
Okay.
Let's go.
What's my line?
Oh, Lord.
Okay.
So your line would be
sweetie don't play with her win
all right
oh Lord
all right
she'll drop that beat
he said okay
sweetie don't play
we win
I'm on set with my twins
because all we do is win
like the yin-gay twins
come on listen
ate them up
what was that what was that two bars
four bars
yeah I got one two
with me. Thank you.
I feel like we need the DJ horns out of there.
Right, literally, literally.
After all yours, so good.
Donge, thank you for playing with me.
I appreciate that.
We are rolling.
We're actually rolling.
The episode is still going.
I know.
I'm like, that was so good.
And all her is, we should, uh, we should, uh.
Listen, I love it.
He'd be trying to give me into art.
And he probably like, we did seven session right now.
Oh, man.
I love that.
This is what we do.
We should keep all of this.
This is what happens.
What happens live?
Keep it positive, sweetie.
All right, Dante, thank you so much.
That was fun.
We done broke the ice.
Are you ready to have a conversation?
I'm ready to top it up.
Let's talk about it.
So you have been writing music,
rapping since you were like 12 years old.
That's about the time when I started writing poems.
I'm with you on that.
But now you're a number one billboard charting artist.
Stella nominated, signed to TAMLA Capital, and serving as the next year and pastor at Change Church, Atlanta, our church.
Come on.
So let's talk about this journey, like, from the very beginning.
Take me through it.
Yeah, so I've always had a passion, desire for music.
So I grew up around a musical family.
Okay.
I had aunties that were in a quartet group.
They were called the Pride Sisters.
I know that's right.
Yeah, so a little foot stumping, you know what I'm saying?
So my uncle had a studio.
man, I would always be fascinated by my uncle studio.
I had an uncle that played the drums, so I'd be fascinated by that.
But then I got hip to Christian hip hop.
So I had an uncle as a youth pastor, and I heard a rapper by the name of Canton Jones.
And when I heard Canton Jones, I was like, y'all, like, the beat crazy, but he just said Jesus?
Yeah.
And so they changed my life forever.
So when I was in the second grade, my teacher actually called me writing Christian hip hop rhymes on the back of my test paper.
Yeah.
And she came, and she gave me a...
Christian hip hop city.
Wow.
For the local artists in the city.
And that was when the seed was planted.
So I hit the stage for the first time when I was 12 years old by my uncle.
That was a youth pastor.
And he gave me that opportunity.
And I felt like that's when my local fame began to come.
You know what I'm saying?
Well, at a very young age.
At a very young age.
Okay.
Wow, because you had local fame then and now you have worldwide fame.
Crazy.
Crazy, right?
So how have you been able to?
to one really handle the recognition.
You know, it's different levels to it.
Now you're on a much bigger stage.
What is it like with everything that you have going on now handling this as well?
Yeah.
Something else to carry.
Yeah.
I tell everybody, like the greatest thing that God could have ever done for me was keep me hidden
because there were seasons where I thought that I was ready to get out there.
And God was like, actually, no, you're not.
Because there's still some things that I have to develop in you.
And I feel like, man, when you're waiting, like God is, it's two,
things. I feel like it's twofold. I feel like for one, he's either trying to prepare you
or he's trying to prepare other people's heart for you. Because if he thought you out there
prematurely and they're not ready to receive you, it's going to fall on deaf ears. And so for me,
man, just being hidden in those seasons where I thought I was ready because starting off at 12 years
old, hitting the stage, you can imagine like from 12 to now in adulthood. It's like, yo, man,
like I've heard so many nose at a young age or dealing with rejection.
dealing with broken promises.
People saying that we're going to connect.
We never did.
You know what I'm saying?
And so as a kid, that's a lot to handle.
But I can say me being hidden at such a young age
and I feel like that allowed God to really just place some roots inside of me.
So now it's like, okay, like whenever you get to that point,
it's like, man, like you won't be fazed by it.
Right.
I feel like he's really just rooting and grounded me.
And now I see it's like the highest place that I can ever be.
Out of all of the Stella Awards,
I performed at Stella's last year.
Being OB-E-T, like, those are the things that I dreamed about as a kid.
Yeah.
And it's like to walk in that moment.
And I want to say this in the most humblest way possible,
but it's one of the things it's like, it's almost like God is like,
yo, like I actually showed you that this is going to happen.
So being here, it's like, God, you already showed me this.
We talked about this.
It's like you being with your little friend, like, bro, we talk about this.
That's how you're looking at with God.
And I won't get the big head because at the end of the day, it's like,
I know that my identity is not in Dante Pride the rapper.
Absolutely.
Or Dante Pride the preacher.
It's like my identity is his son.
Yes.
And so it's like I've learned the highest place that I can ever sit is at his feet.
Come on.
If I ain't at his feet, I can't do nothing.
Facts.
So, you know, even right now, man, I'm sitting there talking to Crystal Renee.
Like I'm, I was shaking a little bit when I came in here.
And my thing is, if I'm not nervous, whenever I walk into a space to speak or to perform or minister,
My thing is,
they're so that I'm relying off my own strength.
Absolutely.
That is so true.
Tyler taught me that I was getting ready
for my very first live show
for Qa positive sweetie.
And he called me, he's like,
you nervous?
And I was like, no.
And he said, it's not good.
And I'm like, why not?
And he was like, and I think I was just like
trying to talk myself out of being nervous.
You know, like, no, I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm ready.
I prepared for this.
And he said, that's not good.
He said, you always want to feel something
so that you can lean on God.
It's so good.
And I was like, dang.
So like, I wholeheartedly agree with that.
That is so true.
So you talk about you being a famous artist now and a youth pastor.
Yeah.
Do you ever feel like people meet the roles that you are before they actually meet Dante?
And how do you handle that?
Because, you know, I know for me, I'm Fatima.
Yeah.
To a lot of people, but no, I'm Crystal, you know?
How do you feel sometimes when it's like, no, this is Pastor Dante or this is the rapidante?
Man, I feel like early on, man, before I even step into actually doing ministry,
because for a long time I was like, I'm fine with this rapping.
I ain't got to be pastor nothing.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm like everything that comes with it, like you're super critiqued all the time.
It feels like.
For me, I'm like, man, I'm cool with not being Pastor Dante.
But when I finally gave God my yes, like, okay, like this is what you call me to do.
Let's do it.
I made a promise to God.
I was like, hey, like, I'm not going to separate the two.
Like, people are not going to see Pastor Dante and then see Dante pride of
rapper yeah because I believe in everything that we do we ought to show up without
authentic self yes and so my thing is I never want to walk in rooms and feel like I got to turn
off and turn on you know so it's like I'm very vocal about expressing how I feel so like if I come in
a room and you see me kind of reserved at that because I'm very bubbly you know very so sociable so my
thing is if I'm not feeling it I'm gonna let somebody know like hey I'm not feeling it today
Like today has been a rough day, but I make sure that every space that I walk in, even with my teens and my team at the church, when I got new music dropping, I'm letting them know.
Yeah.
Like, you know, I invite them into that space so they don't see two different people.
Right.
That's good.
Yeah.
That's really, really good.
I want to ask you now that more doors are opening for you and you have more visibility, what has that required personally of you?
Yeah.
Because a lot of people don't understand the personal weight.
that it carries as doors are opening
you have all these opportunities
but certain things happen on your personal level
can you talk about those things?
I feel like the biggest thing is
God is just showing me how much I need him
in his word. You know what I'm saying?
It's like at the end of the day
if God has called us to be the light
you know when a light walks into a dark place
the darkness doesn't change the light
the light changes the darkness. Come on.
So it's like he's like you're going to need my word
because I'm going to put you
in positions and bring you to environments.
I'm going to need to trust you that the environment that you walk in, you're not going
to let that environment shape you.
Right.
So it's like, he's like, yo, like, you're going to need my word, prayer time.
Like, my thing is, as much as I have going on in this season, it's like without being
in that secret place with God, I would lose my mind.
People ask me like, how are you doing it?
I'm like, yo, it's definitely, sometimes it's adrenaline.
Yeah.
But I believe it's a mixture of adrenaline, adrenaline.
adrenaline and holy ghost
man.
So man
I feel like at the end of the day
man all of this
has showed me
it's like
a lot of times
people when they're in the valley
that's when they're closest
to God
but God is like
yo are you still
going to remain close to me
even on the mountain top
and it's like God
I never want you to snatch me back down
all because
the things that you showed me
and some of the things
that I even prayed for
once I got them
then I forgot about you
and so I never want to be
that person that accepts
God's hand
but I don't
eyes heart.
Right.
So it's like, Lord, like, let me love what you love.
Yeah.
And let me hate what you hate.
Mm-hmm.
That's so good.
Because that is so true.
A lot of times, once we get to that mountain peak, we're distracted by all the things.
Yeah.
You know, whether it's fame or the access or the things we're able to get now.
It's like, oh, I've always wanted to do this.
I always wanted this.
And now I can do it.
And you get so caught up and enamored in that that you forget the provider of all those
things and who was with you down there in the valley.
That is so, so true.
true. And you're right, a lot of us are so close to God in the Valley. That's good. I love that,

Does fantasy dominance sound appealing,
to you listen to the NFL fantasy football show on the iHeart radio app apple podcasts or wherever
you get your podcast something i wanted to also ask you about is when you are navigating
what you're doing now was there ever a moment because a lot of us i see a lot of artists kind of
going in and out between secular and gospel were you always on the gospel path or was that everyone
where you were like i think i kind of want to go this route yeah i was always on the gospel path um
I had older cousins and stuff that
they were like
little gangster rivalry
and stuff and I tried to do
a little bit but it's like yo
just don't put it out. They was during the area
you remember that Piff?
Yes, yes. So I don't even
think that Piff exists no more but you probably
would have found like a
Dante Pride joint where I probably was
saying all type of stuff that didn't make sense
but yeah I'm a
I'm a preacher's kid so
my parents you know they
listen to a variety but most
that everything we listened to was gospel.
So it was like I never necessarily wanted to walk away from the gospel genre.
But there was a season in my life where I was like, yo, man, like this stuff is fake.
You know what I'm saying?
Let's talk about it.
Yeah.
So it was one of them things where it was like I didn't really see anybody really walking out the lifestyle for real.
And I just wish more people told young people, more adults told young people like,
yo like yes I'm following Christ but yeah I may struggle with this and that because so many
times man we paint this picture to where it's like yo like I'm perfect yep and it makes the younger
generation and even new believers in Christ feel like that life is not obtainable so it's like
soon as they mess up it's like dang I didn't let myself down I didn't let God down and it's like
I seen so many people in the church and even as we're talking about my my music and that
my EP has come as you are.
But I didn't really see a lot of people just come as you are.
They came as they are and they stayed as they were.
And so it's like, yo, like, when you have a great.
Yeah, when you have an encounter with Jesus Christ, it's transformation.
He tells us not to conform to the ways of this world but be transformed by the
renuering of our minds.
So it's like at the end of the day, man, people come in and they stay the same.
And it's like, yo, like when you come as you are, he loved you so much the way that
you are that he won't leave you the same.
But as you said, so many people will use grace and use
mercy as an excuse to stay
like they are. And at the end of the day, one thing PD said,
Pastor Darry, shout out of Pastor Darry's. Shout out, Pedy.
Pastor Darius said that
as believers, man, for one, we have to understand.
God either said it or he didn't. He either is the same
today, yesterday, and forevermore, or he's not. And so
God doesn't change. What he said is the standard.
And I think people, they use grace and mercy as an excuse to live in those same patterns and stuff because of the fact they feel like the standards have lowered.
The standards have not lower, the consequences have.
Because if you go back in the Old Testament, in the Old Testament, people that were playing with the presence of God was falling over dead.
Dead, literally.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like nowadays, man, it's like a pastor can be okay with being in the church.
getting ready to get on the pool pit
and texting his side piece.
Yep.
You know what I'm saying?
And it's crazy.
It's crazy.
And he didn't get up there and preach.
Yeah, down.
You know what I'm saying?
Preach the house down.
You know what I'm saying?
And the gift comes without repentance
and I think so many times people think
that since they're functioning,
that their righteous living with God
and it's like no.
You know what I'm saying?
You can function to do anything.
There's people walking around here that's functionally depressed.
Yes.
Depressed alcoholics.
And I'm saying over the smile all the time.
Yeah.
That's why the Bible says a tree is known by a fruit that they're buried.
Come on, you're preaching.
Yeah.
So for me, as a young kid, I ain't, I ain't know nothing about that.
I ain't about testing no fruit.
For me, I'm looking like, yo, y'all told me I can't get in this pulpit because it's
holy ground, but I know the guest pastor that you just had come up there.
I know.
I know what he's doing.
You know what I know.
Crazy.
Yeah.
Crazy.
So for me, I begin to fall into the C-word cycles, you know.
So for me, man, growing up,
Lutz had a huge stronghold on me.
Yes.
Huge stronghold.
And a lot of that had even began by,
I'm going to say this.
So for one, me and my wife don't have any children yet.
Okay.
We're working on children.
Yes.
And so I would never understand why my folks would be like,
yo, you cannot spend a night over everybody's house.
I'm like,
might the same way.
You know, this spam.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, why can't I go over there?
And so I never forget, man, at such a young age,
is when I was introduced to let's just say videos that I wasn't supposed to be looking at you know what I'm saying and so I was so addicted man
loves women man and so it really had me in a cycle man like and I believe at the end of the day man when the enemy
has you in cycles just think about a rope this tied on you man and you can't move yeah and what cycles does
a cycle it actually keeps you from moving the way God intended for you to move yes so it's like you're supposed to have
emotion you're supposed to have freedom but it's like you can't even move you don't
a bondage. Literally. So for me, man, those cycles really
just had me in a stronghold to where as a teenager I was going to different churches
even early 20s going to going to different churches man battling those things
and still getting up on stage praying the house down rapping performing and it's like
but my heart was far away from God so it got to a point man when I just had to surrender
I just really I really didn't see nobody live this life out so I'm like y'all playing
I'm not so I can play too yeah you know what I'm saying?
My goodness. That is so true. You talk about lust. I was dating this guy a while ago, and I had, I was really, this is the guy I had openly talked about me of saying from sex. And it was during that relationship that God really convicted me on it. I was in the Bible, and sexual immorality just kept slapping me in the face. And then I'm like, good Lord. Like, I've read this all my life, but why is this now really, really resonating? And his,
friend had recently given his life to Christ. So somewhere, he would always make these sexual
comments. And as sexual immorality was bothering me, those comments, they used to feel like compliments
started to really disturb my spirit. I'm like, stop doing that. Like, I felt objectified.
And I didn't feel like looked at it with like love and admiration. I looked like I was being
objectified by my person. And he was like, aren't you supposed to?
like lust after your woman. I'm like, no, I was like, lust should not be in the relationship at all.
I said, because you can't shut lust off. You can say your lust and I only lust after you.
No, lust does not just have a respect of one person. You're looking at everybody like that.
It was someone of his friends. It was a different friend. He had called him and he was like,
she's saying less. We both like trying to explain him. He just could not get it. And I was like,
you don't get it, you know, but I could see even in that relationship, I was changing spiritually.
And he wasn't. But his friend.
and understood exactly what I was talking about because he had understood the stronghold that lust has on people.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, and it's so many different things that hold us.
And I think a lot of times as Christians, we put so much emphasis on certain strongholds that we forget that lust is one.
It could be jealousy, envy.
It could be coveting what somebody else has.
It could be the eye, you know, like whatever, you know what, you know what I'm saying, homosexuality.
There's so many different things and we'll, like, just pinpoint one thing.
You know, and I think that's something that the church needs to work on too.
Like, we're going to call out one thing.
We've got to call out everything because when you get to,
when Paul is talking about these people will not enter heaven.
Come on.
It's not just talking about one group of people.
It's a lot of things that we do on a day-to-day basis that's on that list.
I'm like, ooh, you know?
So, and there's, when you even think about committing adultery,
there's more than one way to do that.
You know what I'm saying?
in your mind. Literally.
Isn't that crazy?
So like there's so much that we really got to like focus on and we talk about running out
of time.
Yeah.
We talk about living in the end times and I saw Philippe A. Mitchell talk about there was
he said I feel like every generation has talked.
When I was growing up, my mom was saying, we're living in the last days.
I'm like so now in my big age, I'm like, nah.
Bam, he's coming.
I feel like she felt years ago.
Yeah.
And I'm like, dang.
I'm like, so I feel like it's always been this like tribulation time
that every generation has lived where like we know that eventually is going to,
he's coming back.
But like we're seeing it time and time again.
It's like, okay, now things that we haven't seen before we're seeing.
I know I just went all the way.
No, no, this is so good.
It's like, Lord, like, help me with the things that I struggle with mentally
internally that people can't see.
Yes.
Because so many people are fooled because they think that they're more righteous
because you got a sin that it's not on display.
Come on.
You got a sin that everybody else can't see.
But you're pointing a finger of everybody else.
Exactly.
But it's like, Pedy said, freaky Freddy, you freaky Freddy.
And Luscious Lucy.
Shout out, Petey.
You lying Larry out here, you know what I'm saying?
Hello.
So, yeah, man, I just feel like, and that's what sin does is, man.
I feel like the best analogy I can get for sin is like, y'all remember back when the buffets and stuff, you know.
We just had Ryan's back in there.
Ryan, right up the church, Bar Hill.
What do you know about?
I know we're going on here.
Golden Corral.
So the way seeing it is sin will literally, because as you said, man, all they take is
one.
It'll be like, all right, just watch one video.
All right.
Just have one conversation.
All right.
It's just one lie.
And that's what the enemy does to keep a strap, man.
It's like, just think of a buffet.
And so he's like, okay, come in here.
You can have all.
You can choose whatever you want.
But what he'll do is he'll feed you and you'll be like, oh, man, it was good.
And before you know it, he'll dip out on you when it's time for him for you to pay
to be. He's supposed to be good. He's like, y'all. You don't understand. You understand. He's leaving
you with the tab. Yeah. So it's like now you're eating all of this stuff. But now you left with the
guilt. You left with the shame. And I think the biggest thing, man, when it comes to sin, it's like
the Bible tells us that we won't be tempted beyond measure. He says, listen, listen, even when we're
tempted, he'll give us an escape route. Yes, he will. And I think the biggest thing when it comes
to falling in sin is like, it's thinking about the escape route that he gave. You know what I'm
You think about the escape ride.
You left with that.
You're like, yo, he actually gave me an option to walk away from that conversation.
Yes.
That person was talking crazy.
They actually gave me an option to walk away.
And I didn't know what I'm saying?
I went there.
You know what I'm saying?
And you left with all of that, man.
But this is so good.
Yes, so good.
Thank you for that.
Because I think another thing you touched on was when we've made it seem like being a Christian or being just a believer.
Yeah.
Because even Christian has such, like, it just gets so.
diluted and convoluted where it's like, all right, what is it?
You know, I'm a believer in Jesus Christ.
Yeah, you know, I'm a believer.
And I think we've made, like you said, we made it so unattainable where I have been vocal
about what God has convicted me on, but also letting people know like, hey, just as vocal about,
I fell down.
Come on.
I made a mistake or I slipped.
I had a thought.
And like even to the point where like, even when you do, it's like, get up.
don't stay there because we made it seem like
I have to be perfect and like
even when I do fall down
there's no grace for me to get back up
and I think PD touched on it he was like
when you feel bad about it
that's when you know that you're growing
because there was a time when I didn't feel bad about it
you know and as a woman
I don't think women talk about the videos
we don't talk about how we're introduced to that
and then how it affects us
and we're expecting somebody to do
what this thing
like why aren't you doing what
they do. Now we had this whole
misconceived perception of what love is
supposed to be in the bedroom
before we even do it the way God wanted us to do it.
So like we're all messed up before
we even find our person.
You know, but I think it's
making sure that we're just as transparent
about the convictions, but also
when we fall. To show people like
hey, I missed
the mark today, you know,
and I felt bad about it, but
I'm going to keep pushing forward.
Because eventually I'm going to get over
this hump and it's going to be, I'd be like, Lord, just take it. I don't want to have a taste for it.
I don't want to desire for it. Like, and there's days where I'll like get over it. I'm like,
yes. Yeah. I did it today. Like I had that urge, but I didn't, I didn't do it. I got on up,
took a shower and got it going to go ahead. Because there's days that monkey will jump on your
back and he's like, I just need to go ahead and get that off. Talk about it. Yeah.
Guys like, girl, don't you. And I've been honest about it. Some days where I'm just like, Lord,
I just need to, it's a lot on me right now.
Yeah.
I just need to, but then I feel so bad about it.
Yeah.
So it's that dying to the flesh daily and the renewing of the mind and asking every day,
give me the bread I need.
Yeah.
Because sometimes I feel like we've been so self-relying on self-fledger and the pleasure
that, what we feel like we need to get through the day that we don't even rely on him for it.
It was this day our daily bread.
It's like, Lord, what do you have for me that's going to satisfy me today?
Yeah, and not me.
Come on.
Because it's, okay, we're going to move on, child.
We got a lot to talk about.
I'm sorry, Shelly.
There's an investment that a lot of people don't know about
that can help you get into real estate for less than $200.
Hi, I am Ashley and Fox, the CEO of Empify,
and this is your financial tip of the week.
Now you're able to get in a real estate
without using your credit score, managing a tenant,
or borrowing money from the bank.
And the best part, you have the opportunity
to collect income on a monthly or quarterly basis.
It's called a real estate investment trust, a REIT.
Now, REITs are one of the easiest ways for the everyday person to invest in real estate companies
that own, operate, and manage commercial properties.
You can also invest in hospitals, data centers, grocery stores, even casinos in Las Vegas,
all the while having the opportunity to collect income from your investment.
Now, you're not going to get rich quick by investing in REITs,
but they can be a great way for you to start building passive income without having to manage a tenant.
And by law, they have to pay you can.
consistent income. Now here's what I want you to understand. You don't have to own the entire
building to start building wealth through real estate. So if your goal is to create extra income
or plan for retirement, REITs are definitely an investment worth learning about. And to start,
you just need a brokerage account. So if you're a beginner who wants to learn how to get started,
I have a ton of great resources that are going to walk you through exactly how REITs work
and how you can build income. Go to the description below, check out the links, and let's start

Lisa, we should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get anywhere fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business.
And I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Liar.

So another thing I want to talk about, this is my first time sitting, we're in season 13.
You're my first male guest for this season.
And we have seen so much about growing up or being in America as a black person.
But I think something that has been even more heightened is being in America as a black person.
black man.
Yeah, yeah.
And I just want to talk to you because there's so much happening in the world all over
that is just in our face because of social media, because of the news, where like we're
just inundated with so much information.
And it's like we're feeling everything that every family is going through.
We're seeing everything happening in real time now where first, we wouldn't find out until
later on, but now we're actually seeing it in real time because of phones.
I want to know as a black man, how have you, especially with the visibility you have now,
how do you navigate life in this climate because it's a lot different.
We're going to completely switch gears here.
Man, we're going to keep it a buck in here.
Come on.
Yes.
And transparent, man.
So I still even struggle, man, when it comes to police.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, my wife would tell you, man, I got pulled over maybe about two weeks ago.
Y'all, I got Atlanta don't be playing.
I got two tickets in a week and a half.
I'm like, wow.
You got to slow down.
Man.
So listen, my wife, I called her and I was like, yo, like, the police just pulled me off.
She's like, calm down.
Yeah, it's like instantly like nerves.
It's nerve wrecking, yeah.
Yeah, man.
Like, I remember before we moved to Atlanta, I went to Alabama.
We came to Atlanta.
We were looking for someone to live in Atlanta.
So we got back to Alabama and the police pulled me out.
And I'm like, what I do?
Like, I knew I was driving the speed limit.
So I pulled over.
And the police told me, it was like, hey, like, pull over in this parking lot so we can have more room.
And I'm sitting there.
More room for what?
I'm like, more room to do what?
No, I need these cars passing by.
More room to do what?
So we pull over in an open parking lot, and the police didn't ask me, you know, like, or he didn't ask me for anything.
He didn't tell me what he was pulling me over for.
The first thing he asked me was that I had any weapons, any drugs in the car.
And I'm like, no.
And he was like, where you headed?
And I was like, well, I just got back from Atlanta.
He was like, how long have you been there?
And then he had another police officer to pull it up.
He was on the other side talking to my wife.
Lord have mercy.
And so next thing you know, man, this is never happened.
He told me to get out of the car.
Oh, God.
Told me to get out of the car, patting me down.
As was there anything in my luggage.
What?
With his luggage and all of that, man.
And I remember I was so upset.
I was upset with my wife because I told him I was a preacher.
Yeah.
I was like, I didn't want to.
tell him I was a rapper because I didn't want to be
stereotype. You know what I'm saying?
And so while I'm telling him I'm a preacher,
Gloria, my wife, she over there with the phone now. She's like,
this is Instagram, like, he's a rapper. And I'm like,
so he's like, yo, you're a rapper. You told me you a preacher.
I am. He said he's a rapper. Then two more police officers
pull up. Yes, there's like four police officers. They're like,
let me play my music. So you can hear I'm talking about the Lord.
And then at the end of all of it, since they found no fault.
But, you know, they was like, yo, like, we pulled you over because you kind of
swerved a little bit on the Fawes line. I'm like, yo, this is crazy. All of y'all for that.
It's all of them for that, man. And so with that being said, it's like I'm still processing
through that, man, when I see everything that's going on, man, I know the big story right now is,
is Nolan. You know, we don't know what happened. I wasn't there. But my thing is, I'm like,
yo, if it was my play, Lord, I'm praying in justice. Reveal it. Yeah, sir, reveal it, man.
Because it's so many. It's so much stuff. It's stuff that goes on that does.
doesn't even get brought to public eye.
Absolutely.
You know, and I feel like my first encounter, especially with traveling and being able to do
music to minister to all different colors.
You know what I'm saying?
I think, man, it really hit home for me with George Floyd.
You know, George Floyd, like being able to witness that in person.
I think that was the first one we really saw since Rodney King.
Yeah.
That was like so in our face.
Yeah.
That was a hard pill to swallow, man.
And I, you know, I have friends that are Caucasian, man, and being able to have conversations
conversations with them, man.
It's like.
Or not.
If we're just going to be honest, I think there was a moment where, I don't know.
Yeah, it was tension.
Yeah.
It was tension.
It can't even like, there was tension.
And during that time, you felt some type of way.
You were looking at all.
You were looking at them crazy.
When it was election, who side you own?
And George Floyd, who side of you?
I need to speak up.
You want them to speak up.
Speak up, man.
And so, man, that was tough, man.
So I would say, man, at the end of the day, it's like, it's a black male.
It's like, for one, when you are.
pulled over by the police you ain't got nothing to prove don't don't try to prove to them that you are
tough you know none of that just comply at the end of the day man i'm the type of person is i stand on
this i'm like man i about died by my respect but it's like at the end of the day man i'm not going to
let nobody disrespect me but at the end of the day i'm not going to give anybody a reason to disrespect
you know what i'm saying so uh always to pull me over you know i'm gonna give him what he
ass for you know how you doing sir how you doing hand on both hands on the wheel
I'm going to reach for this.
Listen, and FaceTime wifey.
Yeah.
So we can have some footage just in case something go down.
But I'm still navigating like, you know, over, just being transparent, overcoming that fear.
Yeah, that's real.
Police, man.
Yeah.
So, yeah, y'all be praying for your boy.
Yeah.
Slow down.
I need to slow down.
I got a heavy foot.
I'm a speed racing.
You better coast.
Yeah, man.
But it's a lot going on out here.
But as a black male, man, listen, they not.
We're not.
label us you're not another statistic man look we out here man of God with the swag you know what I'm
saying man so look he they tried to judge a book by a cover but at the end of the day man he met a man of
god and what my prayer is hopefully offer that whole interaction hopefully he would go to the next
person he pulled over that looks like me and approach their situation differently yeah it's crazy
herman and I we went to the falcons game on Sunday and I had my driver and I had my driver
he's in a black suit and tie.
Yeah. Clearly not an Uber driver.
Yeah. We're in a SUV black sedan.
I have a parking pass for him to stay in the parking deck
while we go into the game so that I'm not like looking for Uber
or I have to park and deal with the traffic and stuff.
And we pull up, it's an officer.
And before even, as soon as my driver let his window down,
he goes, go that way for rideshares.
He goes, I'm not a ride share.
He goes, you are a ride share.
go that way.
Wow.
And I said,
hey, sir, I said,
let the window down.
So Herman let the window.
I said,
hey, sir,
I said,
we have,
I'm showing him
why we have a
red parking deck pass
that actually,
Arthur Blake's,
guy who works for him,
sent us.
Like, this is like,
from the owner.
Like, we have a parking pass.
We're good.
And he was like,
I don't care what you have.
But it was so much
racial undertone and anger.
Yeah.
He wasn't even trying to hear
or, like,
not even like,
oh,
if it wasn't for a black woman
that walked into
the officer
who walked to the window and said, oh, I know who you are.
I watched your show.
I said, hey, I was like, we were trying to explain to him.
I was like, this is my driver.
He's staying.
This is not an Uber.
I was like, we have a parking pass to park there.
We were just making sure we could go because we wanted to go the wrong way.
She said, yeah, go ahead.
He's like, if you come back over here, I'm giving you a ticket.
I'm like, you still talking?
Like, it was like, and I was like, I could imagine getting pulled over by that man.
Yeah.
And like, if you're doing this and just traffic pushing people through,
I can't imagine what you'd be like on a traffic.
stop. And I was like, what is your name and like and your badge number? Because you don't know,
I got the mayor on speed dial. Stop playing with me. Come on. Stop playing with me. Like I was in,
we had just left church. And I was like, God is really working on me. Because I would have cussed him
to clean the, I bet to cuss me out of him. And I didn't cuss that day. I was like, oh,
because like the anger, it was in me like to really let him have it. And I was like,
but it took me a minute to let that go. I could not believe he was so,
mean. And I was like,
we were in the arena and I was like,
I still can't believe he did that.
But then after I was like, I tell
another friend about it, I was like, I didn't cuss him out.
That is growth.
Listen, it's so easy, man.
People be people.
Yeah. Especially when it's a police man.
It's like at the end of the day, man, I'd be
having the bird sometimes
to want to cuss them folks out too, man.
But it's like, when we talk about the fruits
of the spirit and self-control, it's like,
Man, how you got the fruit if he ain't ever been tested?
Yeah, I was testing right after I left the church.
One day I did slip up right after church and I let that woman have it.
She let me have and I let her have it.
And then I drove up and I said, Lord, forgive me.
Oh, listen.
Karen, you want to be Karen?
I got you.
I got your Karen.
I'm about to let you out today.
In the name of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, man.
But people need to hear this stuff, man.
Yeah.
Man, we're human.
We're human, man.
So it's like, like you said, man, it ain't what you did to fall down, man.
It's all in the get back up.
Get back up, yes.
And keep working on it daily.
That is so true.
You're a pastor for the youth at Changed Church.
We just talked about how you deal with police.
But the area that our new church location is in, it's, you know what I'm saying?
There's a pretty rough area.
Yeah.
And I know that we had taken on some of those children.
children, how do you speak to what they're going through based off your own experiences?
Yeah, man.
I feel like a lot of the students, they are in environments that, you know, they didn't ask
to be in, you know what I'm saying?
Like, you know, when you're an adult, you kind of get a choice.
Yeah.
A lot of us get choices of the environments and stuff that we go in.
But man, these kids, these babies, like, they don't have a choice.
They don't.
And so for me, man, just speaking life into them.
It's like, yo, like knowing that the seeds,
is being planted.
It's like, yo, even if you ain't listening to me right now,
I feel like those seeds are getting, getting planted inside of you, man.
And when you get older, you're going to look back and remember like,
oh, yeah, man, Pasadate told me this.
Pastor Dante said in the word, he says, I'm the head, not the tail.
I'm above and I believe I'm the lender and not the bar.
You know what I'm saying?
It's like, man, for these students, man, just really just keeping it real with them.
And even when they're going to go back and watch this podcast.
They're going to be keeping up.
They're going to go back and watch this pie.
Like, Pastor Dante, you was on Keep a Pazza?
Sweetie.
So even what you just said, man, like, well, wanting to cusset person out, like, they need to hear that.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Because, like I said earlier, like, for me, the reason why I had started to drip away my teenage years is because I thought that people would just, I thought, y'all was perfect.
You know what I was perfect.
I can't admit.
Fag.
I needed to know that you fell short and that you fall short and that you got back up again.
We kept going.
So, man, with these students just letting them know, like, at the end of the day,
Jesus came and walked his earth.
So he can give us an example of how to actually walk this thing out and live this thing out.
Just think about it.
Like, if we weren't actually supposed to live like Jesus,
he would have been born in the manger.
They would have got him right there, you know what I'm then?
But he actually walked his earth man so that we can actually have an example.
And so I want to teach these students that, hey, like, we can read this paper.
But it's like we also can make this paper walk.
Yeah, come on.
Man, with my students, man, I just want to keep calling them up.
It's like you may be in an environment where you may feel like it's down,
but it's like just take like the story of Daniel.
You know, Daniel was taken out of Jerusalem and the Babylon.
And it's like they had different cultural beliefs and they had different ways they did things.
But, you know, Daniel still got on his knees and prayed when he was thrown into their lions then.
Yeah.
But I realized that in that story, man, even though Daniel was taken out of where he was from,
it's like he was in Babylon
but he didn't let Babylon get in him.
So it's like if I can show these students
like hey like you have something greater on you
on the inside of you no matter what environment
that you're in, man, you're going to change the world.
I love that and it goes back to your song
come as you are.
Yeah.
But don't stay as you are.
Come on.
That's it. I love that.
Dante, this has been amazing.

Lisa? We should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi. We have a
podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Yuanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart,
but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different
references, occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get any of your fighting. That is wild. I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business, and I've always got
something to say. If men were just honest about this, there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree. Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Liar. Listen on the IHeartRadio
app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast. I don't
really care.

That's crazy.

No way.
You have to come to the last bookstore, though.
Kim Cottrell is reading the...

And we do a little Halloween sometimes.
Does the Pope dress up?
He winks on Halloween.
He gets right up next to the microphone.
I hear you can almost hear the eyelashes hit each other.
You never seen Italy so quiet as when the Pope gets up to wink on Halloween.

Before we get out here, I do want to talk about your lovely wife and you're married.
You guys have been married for a very long time.
You got married very young.
Very young.
Was that because of your church roots where it's like get, you know what I'm saying, find your wife and settle down?
Or was it something like when I first saw you, that is my queen and I'm going to like it down.
Man, yeah.
So how old are you?
Do you know how old I am?
You give like 33, 32, 32.
Uh-uh.
How are you?
I've been married.
Let me see.
I'm not young married.
Seven years.
Yeah.
You're younger.
You're in your 20s?
21.
I'm like, I bet.
Let me go play.
Let me go play.
I know you lie.
Arrest her now.
But no.
But no.
I'm 28.
What?
I'm 28.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
You have, yeah, I think because, gosh, and you're leading.
Yeah.
That is such a young age.
28, man.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Crazy.
Crazy.
You missed it.
I'll joke it.
I like that you missed the time.
21 is like, that's what things are just getting started.
Yo, man.
Like, for me.
See, let me tell you what my mama gave me on my 21st birthday.
What she gave?
A Bible.
Okay.
A personalized Bible that had Crystal R. Hazel.
I said.
What am I supposed to do with this?
I wanted some money.
I was trying to go out and drink.
I was, I was, I was, I was, what are we talking about?
Man, look, I was, I was always very mature for my age, man.
So like, you know, when I was in high school, of course, really still being fascinated with music.
I mean, I had an older group of guys that actually took me under their wings.
That's good.
And I was in a studio.
Because you have an old soul.
Yeah, man.
And so I was in the studio with them.
And I learned so much from them.
They were in a rap group.
They were called unanimous.
They were super tough, super talented.
And yeah, man, just being around them, I always had the older chicks coming at your boy.
I was like, yeah.
Oh, no, maybe it was the voice.
They was like, oh.
We got her nice below.
And then they're like, how old are you?
I'm like, bro, yeah.
You're like, 15?
Right.
Oh man
And to keep it up, man
Like I even had people
That once I turned 18
They was waiting
Them aunties was waiting
In their face looking like
TT and him was like
You're ready now
I know him by his fruits
You're in a little boy of them
I was a little warm right here
But not for real
I had seen a picture of my wife
On Instagram
It was a video
Okay
And she was like speaking life
Into some young women
And my wife
She's a makeup artist.
So, like, she does makeup for Erica Campbell.
She's done shiny O'Neill.
Like, just name a few men.
Yeah.
I'm a flex owner.
Shut up.
Come on.
Yeah.
Flex on her.
But, yeah.
So I had seen her on Instagram and she was speaking to some young women.
I was like, yo, if I ever was to meet somebody like this, I'm locking it in.
They was like, 2017.
I'm probably like maybe 19, 20, that's 19.
19.
So I screenshotted it.
I screenshound.
That's crazy.
somebody like this, I'm locking it in.
And so when I seen her,
I ain't gonna lie. I see it. I was like, man, she
got a little body on her.
I was like, yeah, she's bad.
She's a little Bible baddy.
Okay. Okay.
And so, um, I was like, man, I screenshadowed.
I ain't think nothing else else.
Yeah. So where did you see her?
Like after outside of Instagram?
I literally went to Alabama A&M's
homecoming gospel.
What's so crazy is my wife was getting ready to move to Atlanta.
She was getting ready to move to Atlanta.
I stopped her in her track.
This is a whole year later.
There was 2017 when I seen the picture.
I followed her back on Instagram in 2017.
She didn't follow me back, y'all.
So I was like, I'm going to unfollow her then.
Because what's you saying?
I don't follow her.
I know you see me.
I don't followed her, man.
And so after the show in 2018,
after I got outstage, man, I sat in the audience.
I didn't go backstage.
I don't know why I did this, but I sat in the audience.
Yeah.
And sat right next to her.
You lying.
Yeah.
So I didn't know.
I had no clue.
You didn't realize it was the...
Had no clue.
So the pastor that was being, was the host of the MC for the night.
Like, he was being churched.
He was like, look at this name.
And so I looked at her and she had her Instagram open.
And so I still ain't anything about it.
Oh, I thought you was like...
And I followed myself on Instagram.
After that, we went out to eat with some mutual friends.
Like, so as we get rid of everybody like, y'all...
So you still didn't realize this was her.
Still didn't know.
Oh, my goodness.
Like, y'all, like, we've been to go to, man, I think we, I ain't even say it, man, they ain't
sponsoring that.
I ain't sounding about.
Okay.
So, yeah, we was at this restaurant, we was headed to this restaurant.
I'm like, yo, old girl coming in a night.
They're like, they're like, yeah, like, I think she's going to be there.
Let me take it.
Yeah.
And so when I get there, y'all, let me tell you, I'm going to put her on blast.
This woman, she sits there and she's like, everybody talking about their type and stuff.
Everybody still don't know how old I am.
I'm 20.
They probably think I'm about a good 25, you know.
So, she's like, yo, I don't do light skins.
I do dark skin man
And you were like
Oh
At this point
At this point
Were you like
That's the girl
I still didn't know
Oh it still didn't register
I still didn't know
And so she's saying she liked dark skinned
And I think she was kind of
Flour with me a little bit
Because she was like
You're going to buy my dessert tonight
And I'm like man
Get a dark skin man
And so after that man
And so after that man
I was shooting a music video
And I needed somebody to like
Kind of play like
My girlfriend of music
video. It was explaining the
situation and had biblical meaning to it. I was like,
let's see if she was acting a video.
Yeah. And so I asked the mutual
friend that was with her, one of the mutual friends
were with us. And she was like, yo,
I ask her for you. She was like, I think she may do it.
She connected us. And she was like, let me pray about it.
That's right. She took too long to pray.
You didn't shop the video. I said, yo,
the video is coming up. Like,
let's chop it up. So I wrote it and I was like,
yo, man, how about I pull up to your makeup studio?
Let's have a conversation.
it won't be weird if you decided to do it and come on set.
And so I went up to the makeup studio.
We had a great conversation.
She was like, I'm hungry.
I'm hungry to eat.
So we went out of eating.
I'm hungry too.
We went to the movies and we went to our art gallery.
It was an unexpected day.
Oh, that's a date.
That was your first date.
Think about it.
Then I still, like, I still had a little residue in me a little bit.
About the dark skin.
Yeah.
But yeah.
So I was, I'm going to say how the lights can do it.
So I'm driving in the car.
Listen, I turned on some, it went from, I think I was playing like Christian hip-hop music.
She wasn't really a Christian hip-hop fan at the time.
So I flipped the switch.
I'm like, I'm a sore that, you know, I'm grown, grown.
I put on that jodicy.
And I try to reach my hand on her knee.
At 20.
And she literally moved my hand and said, what you doing?
I said, well, I thought we was bobbing tonight.
We just having a good time.
And, man, shortly after that, man, once I got to the crib, I wrote her and I said,
I felt something I've never felt before.
I dropped it back to a car and I was like,
well, you give me a second date. I said, I want to be
up front. We got a little age gap. She said,
how old are you? And then she said,
nah, I can't do this man. She said, I ain't
never dated nobody younger than me before.
This is not happening. And so
making long story short, we did that. Was a little age gap?
So we seven years apart.
Okay, that's not bad. Seven years apart.
Shout out and dated like 13 years.
Come on. Listen. Come on.
The young brothers be knowing they won't know.
Let me tell you something.
The young brothers know what they want, man.
They do.
They don't waste no time.
Quit playing games with Unck.
Listen, man.
Look.
And come get to a big bro, man.
Listen.
Let me quit trolling.
But no, man.
Like, so me and her.
Oh, my God.
He said, don't cast her all the unks.
He's not all of them.
He's like, oh, whoa, whoa.
But yeah, so we actually only dated for seven months.
Wow.
We dated for seven months.
And they're right.
And we actually waited.
We didn't, we didn't have any intercourse.
We was like, man, let's try this.
Yes.
And so we didn't have any intercourse.
We got married.
So seven months, we eloped after two days.
Crazy.
We didn't do no premarital counselor.
And my thing is, I'm like, yo, I know this is the one.
But my thing is I've seen so many different marriages and stuff in the church, like, not work out.
I'm like, all I got to do is study the men that I don't want to be like, and I'm good.
Come on.
I'm saying?
So I ended up looking at other men and not trying to become them that it was kind of
one of the thing I was losing myself.
And a lot of times what people don't understand, you'll become what you don't forget.
And so it's like, yo, I'm sitting there examining them.
It's like, yo, while you trying not to be them, you're actually mixing out on the husband
I'm actually calling you to be.
But see, I would have known that had I would have done this thing called pre-marital counseling.
You know what I'm saying?
And so I was like, man, I got this.
And so I did not, we, I don't feel like we actually fully invited God into the center of our marriage when we did it like that.
Like we had, our intentions were good.
My wife was like, man, my mother is past.
I don't really have to have a big wedding or anything like that.
But what I didn't know is how I robbed her father from walking her down and out.
We didn't think about that.
We were just like, yo, like we good.
I love you.
I want to do this.
Let's do it.
And so our first year of marriage was hard.
It's Hades, man.
It's like, we was like, yo, we're.
We ain't going to do this.
We got to do this.
Like, we can just go on.
Like, can we just annull it?
Like, was it?
You know, because it's a certain amount of time where it's like, you can.
I'm 27.
I can go get up.
You can go get since.
It is what it is.
And so I literally asked Lord, I was like, Lord, like, I love this woman.
It's tough.
And I remember, I think after he had argued in my car, I'm driving.
And I'm like, Lord, you're going to have to show me.
Like, I'm literally frustrated with God.
I'm like, you don't have to show me.
me that this is the person I'm supposed to be with.
And literally got a new phone
the next day. And on my
iPhone, all my pictures started coming back
on my eye cloud. And the very first picture
in my phone was a picture I screenshot at her
at 2017. And I had
no clue that was the woman I married.
Yeah.
Wow. They had the date on there, everything. So I went and I
showed my wife. I was like, yo.
Show me. She's like, what she's on me? He said, I'm going to show you.
Like, look at the date. And she was blown.
Right after that, we actually did
marriage. We're going to make this work.
We did marriage.
counseling and for our two-year wedding anniversary we did a wedding called the prize 2.0 that was somewhere
of like a vile renewal and man we went up it was in the battalion gardens it was a blast man wow
that i am fascinated you give it to him he'll restore it he will that is so beautiful and i think too
the beauty in this is that you didn't give up you know and that you did turn to god like i need you to
show me that this is my person
they're supposed to be with. Because a lot of times people
get in the car and don't turn around. They just keep driving.
They're like, I'm done. I'm done. Yeah.
And especially after a hard season.
You know, so hats
out to both of you for pushing through
and not giving up
because a lot of times we miss out on our blessing because we're so quick to give
up. So that's good. I love
that. Thank you for sharing that.
That is fascinating.
Yes, I love that.
Before we get out of here,
We brought something back called Positive Outcomes where the listeners write in and we give them advice.
You down?
Let's do it.
All right.
So today's question comes from Ashley Ashuntis.
Hope I said that right.
Hey, Ashley.
I recognize his name.
I am a 40-year-old single mother of two beautiful teen daughters.
And I feel like for the first time my life, life is happening for me.
Like I'm not living for anyone else.
I've gone through broken hearts, engagements, and I haven't found the trust in people that allows me to share my heart again.
I totally still believe in love.
How could you not?
I surrendered my life to God last August and went all in.
I've been celibate since June of 2025 and explaining that while dating is crazy work, sis, I still need help navigating these dating streets and learning to share all of me with someone new.
Yeah.
All right.
So I'm going to give you advice.
from single sis and Dante is going to give you advice from married brother. All right? So
what I would say, Ashley, is one, you have to first heal from whatever broke you down that is
causing you to be guarded. Now, being guarded can be wisdom, but it can also be a mask. So I need
you to understand which one it is. Are you being wise or are you literally just putting on a mask
because you're scared to show somebody who you truly are
and to open up to someone.
I don't think in the beginning that you should be worried
about sharing all of you with someone.
I think it should be about getting to know somebody,
making sure that you have the same core beliefs,
that you have the same interests,
that you, you know what I'm saying?
The core things, your deal breakers are things
that you really need and a partner.
Those things you should be getting to know
before you even decide to share all of you.
The end goal is to share yourself with someone,
but to do that, I think you need to be healed first.
Go into it fully hold and then get to know them to see if, okay, this is the person I really want to share my life with.
But I understand, girl, the dating streets is crazy.
The pool got pee and a little poo in it.
So I'm going to pray for you because I understand.
But I say be open.
I think I'm in a season now where I am open.
I want love.
I want to be in a relationship.
I want to share my world with someone.
but I'm also okay with it happening when it's going to happen.
But I think also putting yourself in a place where you want to meet the type of man that you want to meet.
You know, where with the type of guy that you need in your life?
Where would he go?
You know, for me, I would just travel all the time and then be at home.
So when I'm home where I would normally meet somebody, I'm never out the house.
Yeah.
He ain't going to come knock on the door.
So I had to start thinking strategically, okay, where would I want my guy to hang?
You know, think about those places and put yourself in those places.
So that's a little tidbit from me.
What would you say, Dante?
I mean, you just preached.
That was a mighty.
You know they'd be calling me Pastor Crystal.
Passer.
I'm running from that.
How you was like, I'm cool with just being a rapper.
Passer.
I'm cool being a rapper.
She pretty much just said it all, man.
I would just say, like you just said, man, like approaching situations from a healed place.
And I don't feel like there's anything wrong with guarding.
The Bible tells us the guard our hearts.
Yeah.
But at the end of the day, man, like you have to approach it from a hill situation because I also believe it's a thing in not allowing people to have as much access to you.
It's like we put a lock on everything else that's up on our heart.
You put a two-fact identification on your phone, password, face ID.
But when it comes to who you invite in your space, you just let anybody in.
So I feel like there's some good in that.
But as Passa Crystal was saying, listen, man, like you got to approach these situations from a hill place, man.
my pastor says it best like when you're dating you're gathering data that's it so man go out have fun
take the dinners you know what I'm saying and uh at the end of the day man let them find you
I love what you said about going to places where you will want your your man to be yeah you know what I'm saying
so let them find you man and I truly believe that uh when it gets to a place where you're not searching
you know what I'm saying I believe that's when he's going to come find you unexpected and even if it
in the package that you thought it would be in, man.
That's when you've got to lean on the Holy Spirit to the test and see if there's a man from God.
So yeah.
Come on.
And every man of God is not a man from God.
So it's like a lot of time people feel like just because I love Jesus.
I love Jesus.
You love Jesus.
Let's go together.
It's like, no, fam.
Actually, we're just supposed to be small group.
And it ain't supposed to leave this group.
Yeah.
So yeah.
So I would just say, man, more than ever, man, especially when you have an,
two kids.
It's like you got to be even more cautious of who you let in that space, man.
So I don't feel like there's nothing wrong with praying and journaling for the
attribute that you want your man of God to have either.
And PD just talked to this on Sunday, too.
And Paul talks about even us being single.
Yeah.
It's like the better than any divorce.
A lot of times you rush into stuff and we're like, you don't understand how good you got it.
Yeah.
If you can live within these biblical and foundational guidelines and parameters and not
step out, then it's, you better off just stand by yourself.
But if you know, I struggle with this, let me go.
You're clean.
I can tell you clean.
What you mean?
Like you're like a clean bathroom.
Oh, yeah.
Well, my bandy to get a little messy.
My assistant, when I put that makeup out, it's on.
I'm just saying, like, girl.
Sometimes, man, like, and I'm getting into this.
Everything else is clean.
I leave two-faced in the sink sometimes.
You know what I'm saying?
And it annoys the heck out of my wife, man.
Or the splatters on the, how does it get on the mirror?
I still can't feel.
I can't.
I think I've brushed my teeth too hard.
You know what I'm talking about since?
I'm like, when I dated, you know what I said?
People before.
People don't stay at my house.
Bad breath.
Is that a deal breaker for you?
Oh, absolutely.
Don't come around here.
You better get that tongue scraper, breast some teeth, and floss.
And a water pick.
How you came in here dressed nice and your breath, your breath snake?
How are you cool with your breath?
Yeah.
Yes.
No,
can't do it.
Can't do it.
You are funny.
Close your mouth and close the tap.
I'm out of it.
Oh, man.
Okay, I'm done.
