Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a HeadGum Original. In 1977, NASA sent two solid gold records into space so that aliens might find them and understand life on Earth. I send greetings on behalf of the people of Earth and friendly wishes to all who may encounter this voyager. Now, we're making new records with our friends. Bonjour tout le monde. Konnichiwa.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Asalaamu alaikum. We step out of our solar system into the universe seeking only peace and friendship. We know full well that our planet and all its inhabitants are but a small part of this immense universe that surrounds us. Hello from the children of planet Earth. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Caleb, I was supposed to pick you up at midnight last night and you're still not next to me. You were supposed to pick me up from LAX at midnight, but I actually had to extend my trip in Chicago. For love. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Literally. Okay. I told now, now he might listen to the podcast. No, I am. I have been talking to, I have been talking to some. I want to be clear. You could listen to the podcast. No, I am. I have been talking to I have been talking to some I want to be clear. You could apply just now, babe. It's not within me. I don't have that within me. I don't have that within me. No, I extended my trip in Chicago because I wanted to see some more friends, but I also have been going on a couple dates in Chicago. You know, I'm having fun. I'm really eat, pray, loving now that I'm vaccinated.
Starting point is 00:01:46 That's crazy. that's awesome how are you i don't know that i'm eat pray loving should i start you absolutely should i know you've been missing me crazy amount crazy amount la misses me la i literally like i went on a walk the other day and people were like people people i don't know we're like where's caleb their industry people are on boil hot their industry their industry i'm sorry to say they are industry no look i am so excited to bring in our guests today well what i was gonna say is all three of us you me our guest have dates tonight oh my god okay well let's just get her the freak in here. You guys are one of our favorite musicians and artists. And, Shelby, do you want to say the big news? And Savage Fenty Ambassador.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Please make some noise for Tenerio. Tenerio. Hi, everybody. Hey, guys. You look stunning, as always. How are you feeling? Oh, my goodness. I feel stunning. Yeah, you should. I feel amazing. I'm very happy right now.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I'm so happy you're here. What have you been up to? How has life been treating you lately? Life has been fantastic. I just got back in town from a trip to, it was a day trip to Miami and then a week trip to Atlanta, which is where I'm from, to work on some music. It was for like a work trip. And then I got to celebrate my 27th birthday there, which I did not expect with my family. So that was super exciting. I was very inspired. And now I'm back in la and just just feeling like the the love and the peace honestly i'm just like so happy and content that's so huge i'm so glad i'm literally on the verge of tears is that crazy do you guys think it's crazy that i'm on the verge of tears if you have to cry cry i i cry all the time thank you i. Me too. I can't stop.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I wish I could. I'm a crybaby. I'm a crybaby for sure. And I don't give a freak. Can I curse on you? I don't give a good god dang. I don't give a good gosh. You can curse on me.
Starting point is 00:03:55 I don't give a good gosh. Did you see how I... I don't give a... Daryl said, I don't give a fudge. I don't give a darn. I don't give a dang. And that's the truth And that is the truth There it is exactly
Starting point is 00:04:10 This podcast is all vibes Exactly I was about to say the brand name no free clout I'm not going to say the brand name No free clout Any beer company that wants clout on this podcast Feel free to sponsor Go ahead and send through that request
Starting point is 00:04:26 there you go to naryell i'm so i want to tell you that from the bottom of my heart it brings me such warmth and joy to know that you got to spend some time in atlanta see your fam and celebrate your birthday that's so that makes me feel so happy it was exciting i got to twerk with my mom like i got to it's all the things you never thought you'd do when you were younger, right? You're just like kind of mildly afraid of your parents and you're just like, you won't let me have a cell phone and I maintain. It's like all these like really stressful things. But now that I'm grown and like making money, it's exciting. I do what I want. I love the idea of like if maybe if I wasn't making money that I was not having a cell phone and on
Starting point is 00:05:07 punishment for some reason. Shelby, I don't know if you relate to this or not to Naryell. It sounds like you do, but I think one of the most beautiful parts of like growing up and aging in general is like that just knew the new tone that your relationship with your parents takes on where like not everyone gets to be friends with their parents.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I understand that that's not a universal experience, but there is a new like energy to that relationship that feels more mutually understanding. Yeah. You're just like, Hey, you're a person. And then they're like,
Starting point is 00:05:41 Hey, you're a person. And you're like, we're people. That's crazy. We're not just these labels like mom, daughter. It's like we're individuals, our own shit. Like I think about this fuck shit I go through with my dating life.
Starting point is 00:05:56 And I'm like, fuck, like she's probably going through this fuck shit as well. I love how you said I can curse. And I'm like, beep, beep, beep, beep. And you're like, all right, fuck shit. Fuck it. While you're doing can curse and i'm like and you're like all right fuck shit and then just fuck it like but yeah it's it's really nice and it's very real and absolutely was a climb for sure um to get to this space but it's exciting it's really nice you're just like we don't have to we don't have to beef all the time right there's such a weird thing of like like even just when you you know stories of how parents met or something,
Starting point is 00:06:29 and you think about it through the lens, like you knew it as a kid and it was just like, oh, a story. And it's almost like so far from your reality. Like you can't imagine your parents young. So you're just like, sure. Okay. And then you think about it as an adult and you're like, wait. You what? And then, I about it as an adult and you're like, wait, like, and then I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I've started to like, I was remembering the story of when my parents met and they aren't together anymore, but when they met, like they were both with other people and how much drama that was. I've always just thought of it as like the point blank story, but it's like, wait a second. Yeah. Like your parents, your parents were messy. Yeah. My parents were like going to their friends being like, I don't know. They're like, I don't know. I really like him. And their friends were like, no, you shouldn't. This is wrong. Like you have a partner. They're like, fuck him. And he's like, fuck her. And then they came together and they made you. So that's exciting. Yeah. I was like the other day thinking about it and I was like, damn, my mom was straight up engaged when she met my dad.
Starting point is 00:07:29 And I'm like, oof. I'm like, okay. I hate drama. I hate drama. Don't tell me more. Don't tell me more. Caleb, you literally love drama. I gotta stay out of it.
Starting point is 00:07:40 I gotta stay out of the drama. I gotta stay out of it. Caleb's about to text my mom about this come on jillian what's the tea imagine back then what's so what's the tea like i wonder what they were saying what was their saying gab give me the give me let's gab to me not the gab not the gift of gab not the gift of gab anything Not the gab. Not the gift of gab. Not the gift of gab. Anything but that. Not the gift of gab. Anything. And that's on gift of gab.
Starting point is 00:08:07 And that's on gift of gab. Give me the gab. It's giving gift of gab. It's serving gift of gab. I'm seeing gift of gab in it. It's serving gab. And I'm here for it. I have actually something on my mind that I want to bring up, which is, you guys might not have seen this coming, kind of exciting, kind of rare.
Starting point is 00:08:22 But I'm just wondering um to nary l if you were gonna make your own golden record what would you put on it really good question caleb that was thank you i just came up with it on the spot that was so cool if i was gonna make my own golden record um well i definitely so so in my mind i would like to say that i was thinking all songs but i definitely wanted to like mix the medias because I, is that okay? Oh, of course. It's encouraged. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:49 And I also have to say, before we jump into your record, you have an incredibly, your fans know this, new fans of yours will know this. You have an incredibly spacey, like universal, like your vibe is just so kind of like i mean godly like really it's like it's like you just have this like spacey feel i mean i feel like you love it thanks i do i love space sometimes i just want to get the hell out of here you know and flow for sure okay well we're trying to get you some friends quick out there. You know, please get me on a damn Elon Musk spaceship, please. And just let me go for a little bit. I'm just trying to go for like a day, come back. You know, a little day trip, leave on a red eye, come back the next day.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Even though the way that like traveling in space works, me leaving for a day could really be like 80 years human time earth time and i could come back and all my friends are um old or dead oh um you know oh right oh let's go home let's go home sorry sorry sorry sorry that's so i'm so stupid was that morbid i'm so sorry i didn't mean to no no it's the truth it's the gift it's's the truth. It's the gift of gab. It's been a long year. It's the gift of gab. It's giving gab. But no, I do. I love space. I feel like it's just very, well, I don't feel like it.
Starting point is 00:10:14 It's obviously very expansive and we're so limited here. It's nice to be able to dream outside of the realm of Earth. What if we took a really hard stance that we don't think space is that big? You're like, sorry, babe. You're like, first off, space isn't that big.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Second off, the Earth is flat. Space is a projection, babe. Talk to the government. You're like, third of all, Pepsi and Coke are the same thing. And that's on period.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Look up the ingredients. Big stance. I'm just saying. I just like click off. Do, do, do, do. Except it's not FaceTime. I don't know what the Zoom site is. It's just silence.
Starting point is 00:10:50 I think for us, it would just be we, it, you leave. And then you watch my manager leave too. She's like, bye. See you, Felicia. Bye, Felicia. I'm sorry. I interrupted you. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:11:02 A real bye, Felicia moment. That would have been really cool. Bye, Felicia. Right. Oh, no, no, no. A real bye Felicia moment. That would have been bye Felicia. Right. Oh, I bet she gets so sick of that. She went through hell when it was new. Oh, Felicia. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:12 When everyone started saying it again. Felicia just messes the chat all caps and said, LOL worst. Yeah, babe. I bet. My baby. That's my motherfucking baby. Okay. Babe, I bet. My baby. That's my motherfucking baby. Okay, so my golden record, I have to start with the painting Sugar Shack by Ernie Barnes. I can't mix medias, yeah?
Starting point is 00:11:37 Of course, yes. Yes, encouraged. That has been one of my favorite photos since I was a little girl. I believe it was painted in 1971. And Marvin Gaye used it as well, like a little kind of rendition for his album artwork for I Want You. And that is just such a yummy photo. I remember being little and just, I still have the biggest imagination. But I remember being little and just being like, trying to imagine what each person in the picture was thinking
Starting point is 00:12:11 or what they were saying to the person they were dancing with or how it smelled in the room. Maybe like cigarette smoke and just like alcohol and maybe like some soul food. And you can almost like hear the music that's playing while you're looking at the photo um and i just be like man like this is what it's gonna be like when i'm grown you know i'll be able to go out to fucking clubs and dance and be sweaty and sticky and you know grinding on a lover in the middle of the floor. So I would have to say that painting
Starting point is 00:12:45 because like you can never get tired of looking at something like that. I'm literally listening to you talk as I like look at each face. And it's so fun. It's real. Like you're just like, what's she thinking? And he's probably like, girl.
Starting point is 00:12:59 And she's like, you ain't ready for this. And it's just like a whole thing. It's a whole story. I think it's very exciting. I would love to, like, do a project someday of where I'm, like, bringing that scene to life. But, like, exactly, like, all the same clothes, all the same hairstyles. Like, that would be, like, really cool and really special, I think. And just something quick, like in a movie scene or something where people would go, oh my God, is that, you know. If you could pick one song to accompany it, to remake it
Starting point is 00:13:30 to, like to bring it to life to, what song are you playing? It looks like they are dancing to Do I Move You by Nina Simone. I'm not sure if you guys know that song but it's like do i move you it's very like just stanky and just sexy and she's just like do i move you like come on and also so yummy it's so yummy and also it for people looking I hope that people are looking at this painting during this whole segment and and listening to this while they're looking at it but also um the painter uh he was a professional football player first of all which is crazy but he said of the painting he snuck into the Durham Armory in North Carolina a venue that used to host segregated dances the venue still exists today.
Starting point is 00:14:26 And he said about the painting, this was a place where you could go as a black person and see Duke Ellington and see Clyde McFadder. And it was the first time in my innocence, the first time my innocence met with the sins of dance. And that does feel, that quote to me feels like Nina Simone. I mean, Nina Simone was so sexy and so daring and so bold that I feel like, yeah, Nina Simone
Starting point is 00:14:46 is all over that. Yeah, that would be it. That's definitely what they were dancing to. I believe it in my heart. Or one of my songs. Maybe I traveled back in time and like blasted one of my songs real quick over the speaker and they were like, this sounds very futuristic. And then i vanished now
Starting point is 00:15:05 what would you play for them yeah which of your songs are you playing to them boys like you dream girl come on caleb i'm a stan you have to know this i'm a literal stan i'm really like honestly i've been trying not to freak out this whole time you have no idea how much happiness you've brought me like in the last couple of years. I can't make it stop because we worked at Pfizer. I fucking know all of your freaking skits. Like, okay, but that's fine. Like, ask all of my friends out of nowhere, just say one of your lines and they definitely
Starting point is 00:15:39 already know that it's you. Right. Me and Diane. Right. Literally. Right. Literally. Absolutely. No no because it's just like right and it's just like if right like um yeah but which one of your songs for real nothing
Starting point is 00:15:56 it would be either dream girl or continuum because those are just such sexy songs. Like Continuum is just like. That definitely would be that vibe or Dream Girl. Like the, I bet you on me, baby. That would just be like all those girls in there. I bet my sin on your fingers with Javi. They're just seducing all the men in the room. Yes. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:16:31 I love it. What's next? I would have, I don't think a Sade's greatest hits compilation album exists yet. I do have the Sade vinyl compilation that I haven't opened yet that I ordered last year in the summertime. I was just looking for anything to feel alive at the time and it popped up and I was like, I'm buying it. I gotta have it. I'm fucking getting it. Give it to me. I bought two. I'm excessive. It's fine because i i don't like the idea of when i open this one then that's done oh like someone who collects um like figurines you know how they like yeah i don't want to open it yeah uh but obviously shawday is a woman in a voice um she's a beautiful voice that i will never ever get tired of and i'm sure anyone in the
Starting point is 00:17:30 world could agree so i'm rocking out in space to that i'm chilling what what is your favorite um what is your favorite uh shot a song if you had to be no i understand i'm putting you in a really tough position so let me let me make it a little easier because that's not even fair actually what i did wasn't fair what i did wasn't fair let me say let me say this okay and i wouldn't have asked if you were dry let me just give you a very specific scenario okay if you were driving me um me and you were driving up the pacific coast highway at sunset and i told you i have never heard a Sade song, what song would you play for me in that moment? No Ordinary Love. Okay, I love that.
Starting point is 00:18:09 That's a beautiful song. No Ordinary Love, for sure. Didn't I tell you what I believe? Go ahead, keep going. Somebody said that. Right. A love like that won't last. Absolutely. Ooh!
Starting point is 00:18:25 Okay, vocals. As you know, that's what Tenerio said. A love like that won't last Absolutely Ooh Stop Okay vocals She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:28 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:28 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:29 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:29 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:29 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:30 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:30 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's
Starting point is 00:18:30 She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's She's No, we can't. It's so embarrassing. Not in front of you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Also, Dave and I will sing on every episode except for when someone can actually sing.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Exactly. And then we are explicitly comedians. Okay, well, we have to do karaoke someday. Oh, in the biggest way we will. Yeah. Please. Okay. I mean, I'm sure I know the answer to this, but do you feel like you have taken a big creative inspiration from Sade?
Starting point is 00:19:07 Yeah, absolutely. She's definitely one of my biggest inspirations within the industry. I mean, even growing up, I have so many. I listened to everything from rock to r&b to gospel to hip-hop so you know but that was a voice where i was like i can listen to this forever on a loop and you know um it's very timeless but it's timeless but chade and even watching her lovers rock live like concert all the time just for a vibe. Her, Toni Braxton and Anita Baker growing up like were so inspirational to me in a sense of not only being like icons and like geniuses and like these beautiful lyricists. But having such deep voices and like singing in this lower register because I was something I was always really insecure about growing up.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I've quite literally always sung like I was alto straight from the second I was in chorus, which was like six years old, first grade. So, yeah, especially in that sense, outside of everything else, huge, huge inspiration. Sade, I would love to make music with her someday. I don't know if it could happen, but I'm manifesting it. Oh, it's going to happen. Sade, if you're listening, and she is,
Starting point is 00:20:33 you gotta collab. You gotta collab. I see it. I mean, I do see it in the universe, and I'm going to tell everyone to start saying it out loud, because then it'll happen. Okay, the secret.
Starting point is 00:20:45 That's the big secret. Come on, the secret on the secret i love it okay go off the secret that's the secret that's giving me gab it's it's serving it's if it's serving definitely and that's on gab honestly that's gonna be the new podcast uh tagline and that's on that's on gab um some girl named gab is gonna be like what um i'm thinking of my my other my oh uh marvel films oh you're putting marvel films on there all marvel i put all i cheated well it's not a cheat because it's your record shelby do you do you have a do you have a favorite marvel movie yourself because i'm not a real big into them so i'm hoping i'm hoping that you've got some things um here's the thing i like iron man is that okay to say oh yeah it doesn't oh yeah no no i saidenerials was like, mm. No, I said, mm. I said that was good.
Starting point is 00:21:46 That face was for Caleb not liking Marvel films. I know. Marvel films. Please. Why would you? Like, look how he tried to project that onto her. That's crazy. Also, obviously, I had to look up what.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I was so embarrassed that if I was going to. Here's the thing. You put me on the spot, and I don't always know what's in what cinematic universe. And I got really nervous to say any on the spot because i thought maybe i'd say one and you would be like that's dc bitch yeah so then i just googled and obviously okay now we can actually talk about this let's get into it let's get into it let's get going okay i didn't realize black panther was marvel but that's gonna go ahead and be the best one there yet um and then i mean you have to say captain marvel right because it's like the only female led one scenario do you think that do you think that captain marvel has to be up there oh oh the head shake listeners there is a hat there is a no listen no let me tell you
Starting point is 00:22:47 i'm starting drama oh my god this is so awkward this is yiggity yiggity yikes uh no um to be 100% honest, I haven't seen that one yet. I'll be honest with you, it's boring. I love women. Women are my everything. Everyone who knows me definitely knows that. They're definitely my everything. I did not see that movie.
Starting point is 00:23:19 I'm in a space. I want to see more black superheroes and more Black women superheroes. It's one of my dreams. I would love to be Storm, or if they wrote one for me. That's why my Mama Saturn's Galactica poster looks how it looks. Yes. With me as this space superhero. And so we need more of those.
Starting point is 00:23:43 It's exciting. My friend Javicia is is that woman on CW yes very exciting
Starting point is 00:23:50 she was so it's we need more of that we need more representation so I I was not like pressed to go and
Starting point is 00:23:58 see it to be honest so I yeah I haven't seen it and I did already say this but I am going to reiterate it's boring it's a boring movie and it's boring.
Starting point is 00:24:06 But it's the only one that's led by a woman, I think. Mm hmm. I have to like just like nod and shake because like I said, I really want to be Storm. OK, Storm is hot. So I have to be like super appropriate for just in case anyone from Marvel is listening. I'm out here Googling Storm right now. And I'll be honest. They would be lucky.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Your Instagram feed feels very storm. It's giving storm. Can I tell you guys a secret? Oh my God. As long as it's not drama. It has to be drama. Kayla's like, I don't do drama.
Starting point is 00:24:40 No, listen. I don't do drama. Okay, so the day when everyone was talking about getting our superpowers, right? It was, what, December 21st, the Great Conjunction. So, after that day, I swear, I'm not fucking around here, okay? I have to say that. Everything I touched, I kept getting shocked. Like, everything I touched.
Starting point is 00:25:10 My door, the elevator, my car door. It's a scenario. Opening my apartment door. I promise you, this kept happening. Were you scared? So, I just, well, at first I was like, I didn't think anything of it. But I was like, why? I haven't been shocked in a really, really long time. Like, years maybe. I can't remember the last time I was like, I didn't think anything of it, but I was like, why? I've been shocked in like a really, really long time, like years maybe.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I can't remember the last time I was just getting shocked. And then I went to like, this was like weeks later, it just kept happening. I went to open my apartment door, like with my key and the key sparked blue. Like on my thing swear dude you're legit you're legit a superhero are you scared of your power
Starting point is 00:25:50 because it's immense responsibility as you know no I really hope that like it really comes through whatever it is I feel like I'm I feel like I'm Storm I just have to say
Starting point is 00:26:01 okay well if we can say one thing to Isaac Perlmutter chairman of Marvel Entertainment hey Isaac I need have to say. Well, if we can say one thing to Isaac Perlmutter, chairman of Marvel Entertainment. Hey, Isaac. I need you to play Storm. If Mario is already having the powers, you would have to do so much less CGI, less money spent on that department. Exactly. So much more money spent on other stuff.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Like my lace wigs. Thank you. My looks. And so my hairstylist and then if i can if i can say this after you play storm and kill it and win a ton of awards for it then i need a brand new original superhero movie starring you and regina king as like badass oh my god robin hood types that steal from the rich and give to the poor superheroes can you believe yes yes i'm writing this i'm gonna write this fucking write it okay write it fucking write it and i don't and i want that role to don't do that thing where people are like this is for you
Starting point is 00:26:57 and then you make me audition i'm gonna be pissed i would never i don't even believe in auditioning if caleb makes you audition text me okay she, if Caleb makes you audition, text me. She'll sabotage me in my sleep. I'll be like, it's giving gab. It's giving gab. What's happening? Here's what I'd like. Actually, here's just a question. Would you ever want to
Starting point is 00:27:19 in the way that Phil Collins did the soundtrack to Tarzan, would you ever want to soundtrack a movie? Absolutely. And if so, would you want to soundtrack your Storm movie and star in it, both? I, my God, I promise you, I've said this so many times, that one of my dreams is to soundtrack a movie that I'm in. I would love to soundtrack other people's movies. I love soundtrack.
Starting point is 00:27:44 I've been, had placements in a few shows already. It means so much to me to see my music add that extra feeling to scenes or really bring it to another level. So I definitely want to do soundtracks. I purposely make my music sound like that because I want it to be like the soundtrack to people's lives, you know? So I would love to do the soundtrack to my Storm movie. That would be crazy. If you could retroactively write a song for any movie that's already been made, what would you pick? Black Panther.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Is that really hard? I would definitely do Black Panther. I would love, I want to do the bond theme the song yeah i think that would be amazing right yeah i love that i i used to do this thing well i kind of still do it where i would take my songs and like i would make my own trailers to movies i like save all these videos and like make make my own own, um, trailers too. And then put my music over like Suicide Squad or like, um, Oceans 9.
Starting point is 00:28:48 My song and women we trust should have been the song on Oceans 9 when they successfully completed the heist. And I stand by that. So if anybody's listening for the next Oceans, oceans please please let it be all women again so so we can make that moment come to life that's it i am really interested in um taking a break so here we are at break bye welcome bark no i joined you last time you hate welcome bark you hate welcome bark but it's really cute it's really cute like i'm watching like welcome bark i okay it's not important um
Starting point is 00:29:37 i like welcome bark a little bit thank you scenario that's exactly yeah it feels like if cat dog had like a talk show yes yeah exactly nickelodeon nick at night vibes um canario i wanted to ask you what is something so embarrassing in human history that you think it should be deleted from the records altogether and before you answer we have to tell you it does not need to be something big like war or famine or like classism oh we're not even in the same room that's crazy it just needs to be something that you think was embarrassing that's a little lower key what do you think circus peanuts those little orange orange styrofoam fucking candy things you're snapped with that you are oh my god tried one i have never tried one they're not good yes i've tried one it was disgusting what's the flavor who knows wet cardboard kind of yeah styrofoam
Starting point is 00:30:42 packing packing material packing peanuts they're packing peanuts oh my god two in one tool and uh right they're like you can eat them or use them or pack with them and i i could get a lot of hate for this but everyone on the pod be cool candy corn candy whoa dude wow that's so i hate candy corn but people do go pan for it it's embarrassing i fuck with candy corn a little bit why is it it's embarrassing for everyone involved here's the thing i will say here's what i want to tell you and that we might have listeners who agree with this uh to nary i'm on your side i i eat it if here's the thing i would never seek it out and i don't think it's good but if it's the only candy that's there i will eat it i will eat it if it's there when i was little it was torture it was like somehow this is the only candy that's
Starting point is 00:31:41 here and so the amount of times in my child life that I have tried candy corn because I wanted it to work because it was candy. Like my mind was like, this is candy. I should enjoy this. And so I used to keep trying it and I just, I couldn't make it work. It's like fucking licorice. That's also embarrassing, but whatever. Wow. I spent the better part of my childhood not understanding what why it was called candy corn and i just put a picture in the chat and i realized that they're the kernels and it can look like corn on the cob that's disgusting that's just gross like that i already didn't like candy corn i don't understand flavor. It's a wax texture and it's just sweet. There's no flavor to it.
Starting point is 00:32:27 It's just sweet, but it's a weird sweet too. It's like literally just corn syrup. Yeah. So true. I was going to say, they were like, okay, candy corn. Ever heard of corn syrup? We're going to harden that and make it a candy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:40 What's the cheapest thing we can do to. And sometimes they're making candy corn different colors. And I'm like, what are we doing? Why are we doing that? It is certainly not good. It is decidedly not good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:54 I'm glad we're all on the same page. Do you guys have feelings about when it's made into a cob like that? The picture that I am looking at that Shelby sent in the chat is we will post it on our socials um it is to me and i don't want to be dramatic oh my god i'm disgusting deeply disgusting deeply disgusting i am disturbed like i didn't even because like okay this has i don't even think it has anything to do with it because i have a trypophobia i don't like holes and things of that nature yeah and those weren't holes but it is giving me the heebie-jeebies it's giving gab it's giving and it also is giving strange it's giving bad shapes it's giving but whole lives
Starting point is 00:33:39 too it is giving asshole vibes and not in the hot way listeners Not in the hot way Not in the hot way In the bad way babe Yeah When I first saw someone post a picture of candy corn like that It made me I've never liked candy corn It made me so desperately angry That I can never
Starting point is 00:34:04 I used to be like i don't like candy corn but if it's in front of me i'll have one just to see if i still don't like it and now i can't even do that because i remember that picture was disgusting i i would have done just fine if you had never sent that you will be hearing from my lawyers you will be hearing from my lawyers. Lawyers will be in touch, girly. You will be hearing from my lawyers. My people will be contacting your people. Because I am emotionally traumatized. Yeah. I'll pay whatever fee or whatever. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Tenerio, I feel like this is a perfect time to move on and try to keep your experience positive. What else would you put on your records? The show Girlfriends is one of my favorite shows. Anyone in my life will tell you it is all I watch. My girlfriend. My girlfriend. I obviously watch tons of other great shows you got the Ozarks
Starting point is 00:35:08 you know there's so much great stuff out there some of it's very deep you know so that show is just light hearted and it feels so yummy and that is another thing that
Starting point is 00:35:24 I would watch when I was little, like, oh my God, like when I'm grown, this is what life will be like. And it was so simple then. We had no idea that like iPhones and social media was on its way to ruin us, you know? I was like, oh, I'm going to have the flyest flip phone. I'm going to have a little bedazzled case. It's just going to be amazing. And the girls and the friendship, it was just amazing, beautiful. And everyone was dressed so fly and just so independent, except Lynn, but she got independent towards the end. But I could watch that. I just watched all the seasons of it on Netflix. And I'm just beside myself because of the way the show ended. It's like, you want to talk about cliffhanger. If you guys are listening to this, Tracy, Jill, any of you, please.
Starting point is 00:36:17 Like, it would be really nice. Run it back. Run it back. At least like one episode where you wrap up the story. Yeah, where you just like wrap it up. I would love to like guest star in it. But yeah, so
Starting point is 00:36:31 Girlfriend. And Snapback. And Snapseen. To all of us. The gift of Gap. And Moesha. Same thing. Same vibe. and uh moesha same thing same vibe very light-hearted very real and just so nostalgic uh i've i love this my friend uh karen is like you are addicted to this you're in a stock you are a nostalgia influencer you give but also i will say you uh, not to get off track from girlfriends and Misha, cause I want to talk about those, but I do think, um, you, you obviously like, you love timeless art. You love art that like speaks to a moment,
Starting point is 00:37:15 but many moments and you make art that's that too. So I think it makes sense that you're making kind of futuristic things, but also looking to the past. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I love it. I love it. Those are two of my favorite shows. And again, I watch so much TV. I'm an only kid. So I always say this, but like music and film and television,
Starting point is 00:37:38 that was my companion. That's all I had. So I know almost everything by heart. You know what I mean? Let's watch Parent Trap. Let's watch Major Pain. I'm giving you word for word. by bit song for song a goofy movie like let's let's fucking go you know what i mean but if if i you're only giving me five like it's honestly it's honestly not right it's not my attorneys will be my attorneys will be contacting you as well. In touch.
Starting point is 00:38:05 In touch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we'll talk to them and just try and clear things up as best as we can. And these new friendships should not be affected by the business side of things. No, no, no, no, no, no. Litigation is just a part of friendship in this modern age. Yeah. Exactly. So.
Starting point is 00:38:21 I'm going to say something and I just, I would encourage you guys to tell me how you feel about it. I have, I just something I'm thinking in this moment about saying out loud and we'll decide after I say it, if we like it or not. Jill's character on girlfriends walked. Tony. Tony walked so that Molly's character on insecure could run.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Wow. Do we think that that's anything that came to my mind but do we think that that's anything or am i massively incorrect i'm gonna let scenario answer first well she's vibing right now she's really getting to an answer well she's really thinking and i would hate to influence that yeah exactly i okay okay let's first talk about like fashion wise absolutely i'm getting i'm getting the vibes okay i'm getting the glamour i'm getting the beauty i'm getting the confidence together running shit yeah but but tony like molly is very like bitch like love would be nice. Like, you know, at the end of the day of being a boss ass bitch, it would be nice to have like some dick to come home to. Toni's character was very like, I need to use everyone for everything.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Everyone for everything. She had no remorse. She was unapologetic she just was about just like materialistic things and nice things even in her like
Starting point is 00:39:50 saddest lowest moments or someone else's she just could not be serious for like longer than 30 seconds yeah except like towards the end
Starting point is 00:39:58 it got like really deep but yeah they definitely in terms of just like vibes success and the glamour and all of those things yeah for sure but still kind of like they i feel like if they were in the same show today they'd be sisters yes molly would be kind of the older one and and and tony would be the younger sister and molly would be like girl you're already successful. You don't need no men for shit.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Like, just get your own shit. And she'd be like, ew, girl, no. I don't want to spend my money. Absolutely, absolutely. Well, also, I think what's good about putting this on the records, both, well, for Moesha, I would say the aliens are going to meet Brandy, which is huge, huge. Big for them.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Yes, I love, I love Brandy. And for girlfriends, they're going to meet brandy which is huge huge big for them yeah big for them and for girlfriends they're going to meet tracy ellis ross who i love so she's hilarious one of my favorite videos is her with those shopping bags and she's like stepping super and crossing over like me after spending money i didn't have literally all the time like she's so funny she's like dna funny tracy ellis ross just has it she just is like it just runs through her veins it's everything yeah god her character was was so freaking because i have so much respect for tracy ellis ross the person her character was so freaking annoying and girlfriend she was constantly upsetting me she was constantly upsetting. I had to, especially rewatching it now as an adult,
Starting point is 00:41:28 I had to keep separating it. Like, that's not her. That's not the real her. Like, that's not her. I'm like muting her post on Instagram. Like, I don't want to fucking see it right now. Like you just got on my nerves with last night's episode. You're sending her a couple of DMs being like like i don't want you to take offense to this but i'm blocking you tonight like i just can't hey i know you don't know who i am nor do you give a fuck you may come across one of my songs in the future and find yourself making love to it because it popped up on a random playlist that's fine you come to find me you you're blocked you will be blocked you will be blocked and i want to give you an explanation so that you have something to fall back exactly in episode uh 12 of season six
Starting point is 00:42:13 was enraging and and here we are you get you get her email and you send it with the subject line episode three or season three, episode four. And she's like a girlfriend. Because Baby Girl is working. She's on so many shows. So I have to be specific about that. But yes, love her. Absolutely love her. My baby.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Teneriel, I feel like we got through a lot of the big things on your list i mean obviously you would have included some tony braxton some anita baker are there any other things some some florence and the machine come on some beyonce let's go so long stop now ocean you gotta quit some andre 3000 no not more some ludicrous okay caleb and i are gonna make a playlist of one song from each artist you just yeah oh my god like run it please three days grace like honestly really disrespecting me asking me to pick like five i didn't know what to do with that well we've we've got a little time before we let you go what is there anything else like any other visuals or movies or anything that you were like feeling particularly aggrieved about having to let go oh man a goofy movie i said it earlier but a goofy
Starting point is 00:43:34 movie major pain so i can get some giggles while i'm up there i have to rick and morty i love rick and morty i love family guy you know because you could just watch the shit over and over again. Bob's Burgers, except the last couple of seasons because they turned into a musical and I don't like that very much because I just want the storyline. Caleb agrees with you really heavily on musicals. I don't like musicals. I don't. I like musicals, but I don't like when my favorite shows are turning into them. I didn't ask for this.
Starting point is 00:44:08 When I'm watching a musical, I know what I'm getting myself into. Know yourself and be what you are. We don't need you to be something else. I need to prepare. I don't want a song every 10 minutes. What's the other show? Central Park? That's like by the same artists.
Starting point is 00:44:24 Are they doing music as well? That's musical. Yeah. I get it. We want to make money from the show and the soundtrack on Spotify, but I'm not buying it. I don't want that from you. And you're brave to say that. I also like, I don't, I'm not trying to say I know more than anyone else because I super don't,
Starting point is 00:44:44 but I don't want all my music to come from an adult cartoon I super don't but I don't want all my music to come from an adult cartoon I don't I don't I really don't it doesn't speak to me it doesn't move me you know give me cheetah girls I'll take I love the cheetah girls give me the insecure playlist yeah exactly that's the truth you know what I mean that the insecure playlist I mean they know what they're doing with that one but what else to nary is there anything else you're feeling like gosh i did have the honor of being on that yes you did and they were correct and then good for them it was a great scene it was very a very emotional scene it was very exciting to be a part of that i think isa is a a. Genius. But what else?
Starting point is 00:45:25 I mean, yeah, really everything. I'll take it all. I'll take Chewing Gum. I'll take Black Mirror. I'll take it all. I want the comedy. I want the thrill. I want a little bit of horror, you know, while I'm up there because that could get scary.
Starting point is 00:45:43 I'm taking Xon yeah because maybe if they hear zoom zoom zoom who knows who knows okay powerline versus protozoa powerline wow easy easy for her yeah you have no problem with that one if we listen to each other's heart fine we'll never do you know what i'm gonna be one of my costumes this year for halloween will be power line oh i'm holding you to it unfortunately that's gonna be really hot that's gonna be really hot no unfortunately it it will be giving gab unfortunately for the rest of us who thought we were going to look hot for Halloween. You're going to blow it out.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Sorry. And I'm going to like rename her Towerline because I'm tall. And so my first name starts with a T. So, yeah, she will definitely be wearing like a neon green catsuit, a custom fitted with the lightning bolt on the front. I definitely have some funky little wave going up at the top. A nice full lace moment
Starting point is 00:46:54 with the baby hairs, of course. Of course. Wouldn't have it any other way. Of course. Wouldn't have it any other way. We're really going to do it up this year, kids. Damn. Well, listen, we got a question oh man if there's one one message like it doesn't have to be long that you want included on your section of the records for the aliens to read what do you want to say to them if you were the only person
Starting point is 00:47:19 from earth they were going to hear from what would you say to them yeah help us please help us please and if you can't help all of us like can you just help like me and my friends and all my loved ones and then we can come back and help everyone else iconic iconic iconic amazing and we love to see it if you can't help us all help me and my people exactly help me you have to help yourself before you can't help us all, help me and my friends. Focus on me and my people. Exactly. Help me. You have to help yourself before you can help other people. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. When the plane goes down, you put your own mask on before you put on someone else's. Exactly. And they remind you of that too. And that's giving up.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Every single flight. Even if it's your kid, they're like, fuck them kids. Put your mask on first. They say your baby will get oxygen when you get oxygen they will leave that and that's on tell them to grow longer arms and that is on gift of
Starting point is 00:48:12 gab and that's on gift of gab but yeah no i would i would beg them to help us so we can save our planet and the little bit of morale we have left as a species, you know, like for real. So yeah, that would be nice. Danerio, you have been truly,

Oh, my. I did just release a cinematic version of my song Mama Saturn called Mama Saturn's Galactica. And there's a sweet little treat at the end for people who have been listening to my music since the very beginning or if you are caught up with my entire catalog. So, yeah, go give that a listen.
Starting point is 00:49:48 Check it out. Guys, give that a listen. Give it a listen or else. No drama, but give it a listen. No drama, but you're going to want to give it a listen. You're either listening to it or you are not our friend. And that's true. And that's on God.
Starting point is 00:50:02 And that's actually true. Or I'll be suing all of you. Yeah. So, yeah. And as she said, it will not affect friendship, but it will. I mean, litigation is litigation. Yeah, like, still come to my concert. Still support me. Absolutely. Still buy my poster.
Starting point is 00:50:15 But I will be suing, you know? Yeah. No big deal. That was a Hiddem Original.
