What's wrong, Alexa?
Oh, okay.
She's...
Oh, my nipples.
Oh, they'll go away soon.
It's fine.
You can show your nipples.
Well, Kim is selling the nipple bra, so...
I mean, I drive people nuts.
The people who work with me, they want a work-life balance.
But if you're going into my business, you have to know that we answer the phone at midnight.
You have such a connection to pretty much all of your clients. But if you're going into my business, you have to know that we answer the phone at midnight.
You have such a connection to pretty much all of your clients.
I kind of have to be a chameleon for some because I would never let them know how I really feel.
Right. Yeah.
Everyone says, when are you retiring? But I love competition. It's better than sex for me.
Well I am so excited to have you on today.
So Mindy Weiss has been a part of my family for decades and I'm not exaggerating.
It's true.
Decades and decades.
Yes.
Before you were born. Yeah. I was just going to say that.
Yes, you.
And correct me if I'm wrong, because my mom sometimes
exaggerates.
But my mom said that you threw her baby shower for Courtney.
Yes.
Yes.
I think that was the very first thing that I.
No, the very first thing I did was your dad and mom's wedding invitation.
Oh my gosh, yes.
She told me that.
That was the very first.
I worked at this very cheeky, small stationery store.
Which is one of the things that you and I have a passion about.
Yes.
Paper, paperholics.
And I worked there designing stationery, inv invitations and your mom came in and she was
getting married and when was that the 70s?
Yes.
Yeah, sure.
No 80s.
No, because Courtney was born in 79.
So I'm assuming they got married before but who's scandalous?
Who knows?
So you're right.
I always thought it was eight but you're right. Yeah, who knows? Yes. So you're right. I always thought I was eight, but you're right.
Yeah, she was born 79.
And whenever, and then you not only are throwing
my mom's baby showers for us,
but now you throw all of our baby showers and-
Yes, it's completely full circle.
Weddings and birthdays, everything.
Yeah.
You are, you are the end all to be all in my eyes.
But not only are you this insane party planner,
but I feel like you have such a connection
to pretty much all of your clients.
I have, you know, if you're planning
and doing things that are so intimate,
that's where the connection comes in.
It's not everyone's like that.
No. No.
Right.
So I kind of have to be a chameleon for some
because I would never let them know how I really feel.
Right, yeah.
No, I get it.
And you're dealing with people
in high emotional situations.
The most.
The most.
Either there could be a wedding or a death or whatever that you're planning.
And people don't realize we do that too.
Right.
Which you realize.
We do anything and everything.
Yes.
I can put them having a fancy sleepover and you'll be like, okay, we'll set it up.
You literally will do anything and everything.
And set tables, which the people who work with me, they look at
me like, why? Why are you doing that? I go, it's part of the job. But I've done it long
enough, 35 years. So I'm in it. And I realized that, you know, I do need more life and a
little less work. But it's all I know. Well I feel like I know everything
about you but I don't know if my listeners and viewers do so I would love
for you to take me back and tell me a little bit about yourself and how you
got into event planning. Well it was never part of my trajectory to be
into this business.
I went to college in San Diego.
I wanted to marry someone wealthy, not work, wear an apron in the kitchen, and be that person.
So this was not the plan.
This is the complete opposite because you are a workhorse.
Who knew?
I mean, I wasn't, you know, my parents, my father worked.
I was like that family, my mother didn't work,
you know, she played cards and you know, and.
And you know, entertained.
Gin rummy.
Yes, yeah.
Canasta and all that.
Oh my gosh.
And I would sit there and make the house pretty for that.
But my parents gave the most creative parties.
So it was in my blood, like you'll love this.
For my sweet 16, now I'm so embarrassed
and when I tell people, oh my God, what did my mother do?
But I was obsessed because I never had boobs.
So I was always saying, oh, she thought it was funny.
And in those days, she was very funny.
You know, the Playboy Club had little clubs
like they would have the Soho, you know,
how we have Soho.
And they were the chicest.
They weren't.
They were these very cool, exclusive.
You had these cards and it was just a big deal.
So she decided to give my Sweet 16 exclusive, you had these cards and it was just a big deal.
So she decided to give my Sweet 16 at the Playboy Club.
Literally the bunnies had Mindy's Sweet 16 sashes.
Yes, and like the invite says.
But I want everyone to know that wasn't raunchy.
It was so classy and it was, think about like Sinatra era.
Very Mad Men. Yes. Very. But when I look back on it now and I'm looking at my Sweet 16 pictures
and there's breasties, women with my name on their chest and my cake was a torso. Wait, I love your mom.
Oh no, she, everything was funny.
Yes.
Everything and very creative.
And so I met, I've been married twice.
My first husband was the one that, you know,
he was wealthy and cute and everybody wanted to marry
and I got him.
Really great guy.
But he didn't want me to work.
He was in the produce business so he had strange hours.
But I had to work.
I worked in a bakery when I was 10
but I gained 15 pounds and I had to quit.
But that was in me and I got a job
at this little stationary store called William Ernest Brown.
And that is where I met your mother, Joyce, Sheila,
the whole gang.
And I would do, I don't know if you're Arlene Crain,
all of them.
And I would do all their invitations
and who is now my best friend,
like my sister was my boss, she hired me.
And we would do all these parties.
And your mother would come in to do the birth announcements.
Yes.
Oh my God.
We have all of them framed. With the K names
and it was a whole thing and every time we go,
you're pregnant again. And I remember when Rob, because it was a boy finally. I know my birth
announcement because back in those days they didn't have the ultrasounds to see the gender
of the baby. And my dad, this is probably for any man,
but my dad being Armenian, like you had to have a son.
And so they were having kids until they had a son.
And so my birth announcement is baby blue
and it says, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy,
and you open it and it's a girl.
But it's almost like, oh, it's a girl.
Like I was like, what?
Like this is so rude.
And we would wait because everyone would come in
ahead of time and pick a boy one and a girl one.
So we would wait for the call.
Right.
And we go, it's a girl.
It's a girl.
And then they had a robin,
then you stopped until my mom remarried.
But Chloe was a unique name, like with the K.
Yes.
Yes, I can't remember five minutes ago,
but I can remember everything about going
to your mom's house and Kim was braiding my hair.
And your mom had this sunglass drawers that were lined in.
Of course she did.
In this heart pattern.
Yes.
Yes.
I remember it.
That was wallpaper.
She had pajamas.
She had everything, the heart paper.
Oh my gosh.
I can't remember the name of it.
So there was one event and then I want to also get back, but there was, I don't remember
what birthday for my mom, but Kimberly is so creative
with thinking, with sentimental things too.
Very, yeah.
She's really, really good at that.
And there was one year we had this house called, it was on Tower Lane.
And it was the house we grew up in.
And my mom and my dad were married there, us four were, well, Courtney was born in another house.
They moved like six months later.
But essentially we all grew up in that house.
And Kim talked to Mindy and said, for my mom's birthday,
I wanna have lunch at Tower, at Tower Lane.
Somehow you and Kim managed to convince this gentleman
that we should have my mom's birthday lunch
in his backyard.
We had this house in the 80s and 90s, but in the 80s was the era of wallpaper and matching
your wallpaper to the drapes.
This is not a neutral wallpaper.
It's the most chaotic, crazy printed wallpaper.
But I remembered the wallpaper.
Of course you did.
I remembered it. It was like stuck in my head. It was very popular, that wallpaper.
But it was the wallpaper. I think it was the headboard and the drapes at the time. And
Mindy somehow found the exact wallpaper that we had in the 80s and printed the invitations.
And I want to say napkins or something like that.
The napkins, I did the tablecloths too, I thought.
Yes, I think so.
If I remember, yeah.
But I don't know how you did that, but you sourced it, you found it,
and it was the exact same thing.
And when my mom walked in, when she saw everything, you know, she is waterworks.
And it was tears from the second we walked in.
So the thing with Chris and I,
because we are, I'm a little younger,
but we're from the same generation
and I know the event she went to.
And I know, I remember things in the house.
We kind of source some like
a TV I don't know if you remember there was some poppage there sometimes I get
things and no one notices but I always say to my office somebody will notice I
know and it will mean and we got those pajamas I was with the hearts with the
hearts I have hanging in my closet.
It's so nostalgic.
But those are things that sometimes I think people are
like, oh, I could throw a party.
And yes, we can all throw a party.
But when you are an event planner
and when you are literally at the top of their game
like you are, the love is in the details.
And what you can source, what you pay attention to, I was actually saying yesterday, the bathroom
baskets that you have.
I think if anyone throws a Mindy Weiss party, that's something you're famous for.
Thank you.
When you go into the restroom, I haven't been in the male restroom, but I imagine they're
in there too.
Not as good as the female though.
Well, I imagine because the girls have everything.
They know it is everything.
So she has these baskets and they have any single thing that one could need from deodorant
to lint rollers to contact solution to anything.
Yes, that's a big one.
Yes, anything like tongue scrapers.
It would be anything and everything in these baskets.
So if a girl
doesn't have their purse, don't worry. Here's the ugly truth. Grocery store shelves are packed with
products full of hidden additives and ingredients we can't even pronounce. Grocery shopping for
healthy food shouldn't be this overwhelming. That's why I love Thrive Market, the online healthy
grocery store that delivers high quality essentials right to my door. I can shop with peace of mind because Thrive Market
has the highest quality standards in the industry. Their in-house experts restrict
over 1,000 sketchy ingredients like artificial flavors, synthetic dyes, and
parabens. So I know I'm getting the best organic and sustainable brands all
without the junk. One feature I cannot live without is their
Healthy Swap Scanner. Just scan a product you already love and it instantly recommends healthier
alternatives. We've swapped out our old ultra processed snacks for new instant favorites like
Goodal's high protein mac and cheese and Simple Mill's gluten-free crackers. And honestly,
my kids haven't noticed the difference. It's my new secret mom hack.
Whether I want high protein, organic, or low sugar,
their filters make it easy to discover
so many new favorites that fit perfectly in our lifestyle.
And the best part?
Thrive Market offers savings up to 30% off
grocery store prices.
And with fast carbon neutral shipping,
everything gets delivered right to my door.

Again, that's thrivemarket.com slash Chloe to get 30% off your first order plus a free
$60 gift. Going back to you, what was the very first
event that you threw? The very first, I faked the whole thing. Now I knew what to do because my parents
gave parties but had no sources, had nothing. One of the sons said just do it because I did the
invitations. That's how we go if we go backwards. I started doing invitations and then went on my
own and so on. But what made you go from that to event planning?
Because this son asked me to do the party.
Oh wow.
And I said, oof, I don't wanna be a party planner
because I would do all the party planners invitations.
They were mean and cranky, demanding.
I thought, oof, you know, I'm not gonna do it.
But I love this family and it was his big birthday.
It was at Hillcrest Country Club.
Oh my gosh.
So what I did is when I went to go look at it,
there was a party going on and I took every vendor's name
because I had nobody.
Smart.
Who to call.
Right.
So I just faked the whole thing,
realized there was money to be made if you do it smart.
And that, you know, the heart started pounding
and I went, oh my gosh, you know,
cause it was creative and I'm a frustrated artist.
Like I can't paint, but I can paint in my head.
And that's what I did with this party.
From that one party, like the Davises were there, Marvin and Barbara, they became my clients and all this. And these are like
major. These were like old money, old. They ran. It was the Camelot of the day.
Right. And that's crazy off of that one. One. And it just trickled on. And that's
how it all began. And then I did Brooke Shields' wedding
to Andre Agassi. Oh wow. Which I didn't know would be because I'm so naive, you know, I just said, oh
you're so, you're so pretty. Yeah. Sure. And then she sent me to the location with Andre by ourselves
and then we got along great and later read his book and realized what he was going
through at the time I was with him. But you know and then you do a celebrity wedding and it goes
okay. It's a very closed community and then they started trusting me and that's kind of how I got
into that. So Mindy threw my mom's 60th birthday and it was the biggest party that me and my siblings have ever
like could afford and spend on our mom. She's so deserving but it was like we've always done little things
but this was it was great Gatsby theme and we went all outfit. Beginning to end and it was the best.
It's still talked about till this day.
You guys are going to die
when you see my mom's 70th birthday.
We've been planning it for, I swear like a year.
Oh, and the notes I get.
Yes.
I get lots.
So we have a file of just what's to come.
But my mom has no idea.
No idea.
So we're so excited. I know. That's to come. But my mom has no idea. No idea. So we're so excited.
I know.
That's in November.
But so, and that's rare.
And I can't believe we haven't had a meeting yet.
We haven't had a meeting yet,
but I was just gonna say. It's January.
That's rare that we even do it that in advance.
Like obviously we know every birthday is coming
and we know that, but you know,
someone will call
Mindy and be like 48 hours before. I think I want to throw a party on Saturday. And that's how it is
except for you. I think in a perfect world you want time. I think your clients are the ones that are
torturing you and but I think you sort of picked yourself like because you've proven that you can do it,
that people call you at the last minute.
And they say, don't worry.
Right.
And I hear people recommend me,
now don't worry,
cause she'll do it.
She won't call you or anything,
and you won't think she's listening to anything you say,
but when you get there,
it's better. It's all time.
It's better than what you think.
No, but I think that's also, you can't let people know
that you can do things in a short amount of time.
No, that's kind of what's happened.
I know, I know.
Well, especially with my family.
Tell me the differences because you work with each one of us.
Like the different, just who's, if you,
whatever you care to share, I don't, none of us will care.
Like the different particularities from the siblings
or even include my mom.
Just like, I don't know, what are like our little quirks,
I guess.
Well, I know exactly when we get the call,
what the expectations, like I know the pattern.
So mom calls way ahead, likes invitations out very early.
Once you get those out, she relaxes.
I was gonna say she spirals until they're out.
Yes.
Loves a great theme, loves the beauty.
I always wanna use her dishes,
and sometimes, no, don't use my dishes, you know,
because you don't, especially for Christmas, we use all.
If you guys could see these cabinets,
it's like, it's better than sex for me.
If I open up the cabinet doors,
and there's Easter,
Mother's Day, Christmas, you know, celebrate.
It's a dream.
It's exactly what you wanna have,
but it never works out that way.
It worked out in her dish closet.
And like, she'll literally, when I come over,
she'll go, I have to show you something.
And it's like that meme.
It's great. Oh yes yes. It's exactly that. I like it. The Faye Resnick and Chris Jenner meme. Yeah. It's so funny Kim,
I guess we're a little morbid but Kim was like in your will can I have your diamonds and I go can I
have your dishes? That's what I asked for. I have to tell you the reason why these parties have become something. I'm not sure how but I mean I know how
Because your mother yes
you guys all
Want to have that memory and that feeling and you guys continue to go back to?
every party Oh
When we were young my mother did this and oh, this is how she set a table.
I mean, these were good memories for you.
And that's why all of you, there's not just one,
you all celebrate everything.
Which for me is a great thing.
But each one, we've gotten lucky with the memories
that it sparks.
Anyways, your mother, she's extremely involved.
She likes to know everything in a timely manner,
so I try to be the best on my game.
I'm a little behind one of them now.
I'm scared to see her tomorrow.
Courtney, gentle soul now. Yes, but she's more of a last minute planner, right?
Yes, like we know about it, but we don't get involved. You know, it's a much more methodical,
we know, but she has really good ideas too. So we listen and some things she likes to do on her own.
So we're not around as much, but very kind Travis,
is just very sweet.
Thank you, thank you.
You know that.
She loves when all you guys come over
and tell her what you think.
Yeah, she needs surveys.
Like for Christmas things, which is great,
because then I look at the conversation
when you guys are having the conversation.
She can't do it on her own.
She loves to take a survey, like, what do you think?
What do you think?
Yeah, but she's great,
because she wants to make everybody happy too.
But I don't work with Courtney
as much as the rest of the family.
Kim, very organized, things come randomly.
Yes.
Like we do these big presentations and yes, no,
very quick, precise, and trusting.
She'll trust us, but if she does not like something,
we know it.
Yes. We do.
And it's okay.
She has such an aesthetic that she wants to keep
everything in, which is great for me to know.
So I know we do not present anything very, very colorful
except the kids stuff, which she lets go.
Or my 40th birthday.
Oh, well that.
Yes.
We're not there yet.
That was so good.
That was amazing.
So Chloe organized pictures, decks.
Like there is no guessing.
Which for us is the best.
Because I'm always like, is this annoying?
Because I know I'm a macro manager.
For us, it's nice to have a direction.
When you call for parties, we feel, believe it or not,
relaxed because we know we have a task.
And it's rare that I ask you guys to do something last minute
too. Very. Yes, I like to plan. I ask you guys to do something last minute too.
Very.
Yes, I like to plan.
But if you don't like something, we know it.
Yes.
There is no, yeah, there's no guessing.
And I'm very particular with like
the exact shade of colors.
Right, very.
But also different than your sisters,
except for Kendall, you're there when we're setting up.
I like to be.
Yeah.
So there's guidance there and questions.
Like, what is that?
Did we order that?
Did we?
Well, just let's just wait until.
Yes, there's a lot of.
I didn't order that.
There's a lot of hand holding.
Like, it's okay, let's wait until it's actually done.
And you're right.
And I always end up just being in love.
And I think every party I become more in love with.
Like you're just like, oh, okay.
I love that.
You trust the process.
Courtney will come right up and tell us, you know?
Yeah, but she, you know, she watches.
And then Rob, oh God. I only see him at dreams parties.
But let me tell you, when he shows up,
he goes to every vendor and thanks them.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for doing this.
So what a pleasure.
He is.
You know, and it's always like better than what he thought
because you're planning. And he does, like he'll, he'll have, he obviously trusts me so much, but he'll
have an opinion. Like he'll tell me like the theme is soccer or this or that. Like he'll
do that. Um, but then he's like, okay, like, cool. He knows between me and you, we're going
to get it done. But he is always so grateful, ateful and happy. It's always just huggable. He is. Yes and I always hug him.
Kenny Kendall we just did Christmas Eve at her house. I know and I
couldn't be there. You would have been very proud of her. She did the
photos alone. She kept it real. She kept it like her home.
She wanted it to be her home. Great taste. Great taste. Very iconic Ralph. You know all I have to
do is see a home and then I know. I hadn't seen her new couch and all that. Okay. Yeah she has an
amazing aesthetic. Kendall does.
Really good, so, you know, but she has comments,
like she'll come in and out, in and out.
So Kendall was a pleasure.
You know, again, will tell me what she wants.
I did a few surprises that she was very happy with,
and if she wasn't, I would have taken it away right away.
But her house looked beautiful.
It was just right.
And it was her first year hosting Christmas Eve.
It was a smaller Christmas Eve.
Yes.
I was bummed I couldn't be there because True was sick.
But. I was shocked.
I heard.
But Tatum went with my mom.
It was so funny.
He was.
With this white little.
Suit. Suit.
Arriving.
He just smiles.
He's like everyone's little love.
He loves, you know, he needs the acceptance of everyone. He's like everyone's little love. He loves, you know, he needs the acceptance of
everyone. He's like the town mayor. Like, hey, he has to say hi to everyone. He is, yeah. And Kylie.
Kylie. She, again, before she got so busy, definitely sends me Pinterest and inspiration and very detailed.
She does very large events.
And now is kind of backing off a bit and doing smaller,
but for Stormy Worlds and then when Eric came,
these are big chunky events.
And she has a vision, like she can see it.
A lot of people can't see it ahead of time,
but she sees it.
But then when she's at the party there's what always I don't know why this like
it's so interesting to me yes you are an event planner but when you throw events
in other countries like where do you get your vendors and those how do you know
they're going to be good we have to bring them really do our homework.
We often don't bring them anymore.
We used to, but each country truly, because the entertainment world has
become, I mean, entertaining parties has become such a big thing, especially in
weddings, um, I'm on Instagram, I'm writing down, ooh, that was pretty, who is that person?
And then when we go, we have our teams.
And because we go to Europe so much and different places,
now if we go to new places,
I was just in San Miguel de Allende.
Oh, this little town, Mexico, it was,
but we had to really research.
And I always love to bring my photographer, you know,
but boy, I'll tell you, there's some talent in every country
and they reach out to me too, which is so lovely.
So I find a lot of that.
And, but when you do out of town destination,
my son's getting married in March and I said,
we're staying in LA, buddy. We are not going anywhere.
I always feel like when someone does a destination wedding, they don't really want
that many guests to attend because not everyone can afford it. Not everyone can take off work.
And everybody goes. You cannot depend on that because everybody goes.
That's crazy to me. It's crazy, and people shop.
I mean, I just did one in Cabo, it was almost 400 people.
In Cabo.
What?
400 people?
And they all go.
Oh no, that's not okay for me.
But when you do Destination, remember, it's five parties.
You have a welcome, rehearsal dinner, Saturday wedding,
Sunday brunch, and then there's usually a family dinner
that's in there like, cause they'll come.
So we, and guests, taking care of the guests
cause they're a little more insecure when they're out of town.
So people don't realize how much goes into it.
Yeah, that's crazy.
That is crazy.
Mindy threw Kim's 40th in
Tahiti. Yes. Oh, you'll love it. She wasn't bringing anybody. What do you mean?
She said, oh, they'll take care of us there. Okay. They're gonna take care of
us. And I let it go. Okay. it, and then I called her.
I said, Kim, who's taking care of your mother?
Who is making sure the rooms are ready?
They don't know what you want.
But also we had a DJ, we had this, like it was crazy.
Yes, who's doing all that?
She goes, yeah, let me think about it
about maybe six minutes later.
She's like, yes. Okay, you're right.
So, you know, people don't realize, they don't know you.
Like we know what each guest needed,
what you guys needed, you know, what mom needed.
I guess.
And it's always perfect.
And that's part of the experience.
That's why it kind of.
It is.
What would you say, do you have any sort of event that's like what you would consider
like your biggest, I don't want to say fail, but like one that you're like, oh, I wish
I could redo that one.
Oh, several. Some that the client.
But I think that's important for people to know. I think people think like there's no.
And it may not be the whole event, but it's definitely the tablecloths or the, oh, we
should have redesigned it and the tables were too far apart or the stage wasn't big.
But the art-
No, not to, there's one thing.
Mindy and I threw one of Kim's birthday parties at the offices.
But this is, there was, we, it was stunning.
I saw this on everyone's Pinterest.
It was a viral one.
It was a viral one.
It was a viral one.
The aesthetic of it.
It was, we enclosed a dining table, long dining table
with candelabras, candles, melting, stunning.
And it was tinted in and mirrored in.
So you saw, it looked like it was endless tables
because of the mirrors.
Like parachute tinting, our first time parachuting.
Yeah.
So sublime.
Like we were both drooling.
We picked it.
I mean, Mindy did it, but I like sent the references,
but it was great.
But because it was so enclosed,
we were melting and sweating.
Our ass is off.
But what Mindy does, and this is late at night,
like eight, nine, something like that,
somehow we feel bursts of air and we're like,
wow, what happened?
Like, how did this happen?
Where's the air coming from?
I can't believe you remember this.
Mindy somehow went to Home Depot or something like that
and got huge floor fans and like on the fly
realizing that we're all dying of a heat stroke.
As I was too.
Yes, and she gets the fans,
somehow finagles it into- Quiet fans.
Quiet fans into the drapery and solved the issue
before anybody complained about the
problem.
It was coming.
I was like, we got to go quick.
And the whole party was saved because she, you know, you've got to think on your toes.
You have to think and some people get lazy and they feel like if the party's going, oh,
we're done.
Right.
But no, you have to be ahead of is the food coming out? When's the cake coming?
You know, all that has to keep going and you can't turn it off. It's just that's part of this
chameleon thing that I and I you can't teach it. I think you just have to. You just have it. Yes.
And probably you having so much experience has given you that too, what to do on the fly.
Absolutely. Everyone says, oh, I go, they go, do you think you know everything? I go,
every job I learn something. Every single job. Like for Shy's birthday party, the Hey, mm-hmm and Andrew who by the way has you know, he's
Still as equally responsible for all the wonder wonderfulness. He really is. Andrew works. He works with me and
He's very creative, but he was gonna put burlap on
Hey, and I said, it's just not soft enough.
It's just not.
So I met Joanne's, you know, on Saturday running around,
trying to find fabric.
So these are things that people think, oh.
It's not the most glamorous job.
No.
You know, and it's always doing something.
Oh, Nordstrom's rack buying little Western boots
so the flowers go in there.
I saw those, but the details.
Because I thought they were too weddingy flowers.
So I said, let's put them in, you know,
and my husband's right, what are you doing?
I go, we need cowboy boots for the flowers, you know?
And whether one person, you noticed it.
I noticed it.
It could be one person.
And I even said, Kim, how cute are these vases?
And she's like, oh, that is so cute.
So do you throw parties for yourself?
I don't really like parties because it reminds me of work.
I figured that.
So, I mean, that's honest.
I'm only responsible in my family, sisters, for Hanukkah.
That is it.
That's my, and let me tell you, I have it catered.
I do, I make it beautiful, but you know.
Like I don't wanna do a thing.
My nephew will help me on it, and that's it.
And there have been times I use paper plates.
They're very pretty and I get really nice.
I don't wanna wash dishes.
I don't.
You're over it.
No, but I have a wedding coming up.
So I did one for my older son.
And now I have.
So Mindy has three sons.
Three sons, really delicious kids.
Not cause they're mine, they're so nice.
So if anybody's worried about working too much and not being with the kids enough
It's enough because they
They're lovely. So your oldest is married and now your middle is gonna be married in March. Yes
So we are planning the oldest and his lovely wife who I adore
Didn't have a lot of comments on their wedding,
but this one has a lot of interesting ideas and thoughts. And I said to him,
you have thoughts? You can't have thoughts. You are his mom and planning the event.
And he's clever too. What is the etiquette in today's day about paying for weddings?
Is it still the father of the bride?
What I find most is that both families will split it and if not, for us, it's always
the bride.
You know, for us, we think, oh, it's going to be the bride's family.
But as the bride and grooms get older, which they are right now, sometimes they pay for
it. Right. Because they're established
They're working and I think now my son's not paying for
never mind
but
You know, I'm definitely people are being quite kind to me and you know
Well, I have a 28 piece band and I keep saying don't you think want a 28 piece band. And I keep saying, don't you think that's-
28 piece band?
28 piece band, I know.
Oh my gosh, that's like-
Won't that be like, it's gonna be like an old school kind of-
Like Meet Joe Black, did you ever see that movie?
Yeah, of course, yes.
And when it was his birthday, I mean,
the glamor of that shot.
Yes.
I loved that speech.
So it's gonna be kind of that, yeah, the speech was good.
I loved it. So we'll do some So it's going to be kind of that. Yeah, the speech was good.
So we'll do some.
It's in a sound stage so we can create.
Nice.
And like where one of the Lemmy events was there.
So hopefully.
God, you've thrown a lot of events for us.
Thank God.
Yes.
I love whenever.
They're the most creative.
I mean, it goes the gamut of really being different.
Well, I love whenever we post something event related,
everyone's like, how does this party planner
have any free time or anything?
Because it's as, just with the family alone birthdays,
but without birthdays, we're throwing so many other
events for brands. They don't know that you know a lot of the times they don't
you know. But it's non-stop I mean I always wonder how you have other
clients because I'm like Minde we stalk you all day long. Yeah but there's other
people in the office that do. I become somewhat territorial on certain things because. Well yes.
Yeah. You have to. Plus it's, I find it easy believe it or not. That's kind of, but what about your part?
Oh my 40th. Yes. Oh my gosh. My, Mindy for me always throws the best ones. But like my baby shower was the most spectacular
baby shower in the world.
But it's really because Kimmy and your mom
and they all want like, it's like almost like,
oh, we have to do this for Chloe, you know,
because you do that for them.
Yes, it's very, my 40th they went above and beyond.
And you guys will see all of that on our show.
I don't remember what episode it is,
but it is towards the end of the season
and it is above and beyond.
It was so fun.
And usually I'm in the back just sitting eating
or dirt or something.
But I was out there because I just wanted to watch.
It was, but every single person there had the same energy,
said how much fun it was, Snoop Dogg performed. Oh, the best. It was the best. Probably one of the
best. And what everybody wore, I thought they kind of went out. It was Dolly Parton themed,
cowgirl themed, Chicago stole my theme, which is fine. Yes, yes. I mean, that's why it was easy to do.
I'll leave them at that will be cute.
But every square inch of that party was saloon signs, the drink names, that everything was
ultimate perfection.
And I was like the last person to leave.
They literally were like, you got to go.
And we all got ushered out, but it was amazing. So we are going to be closing up, but I just want to ask what's next for you? Do you think? I know
you've written books. Do you like writing books? I do. I like during COVID, I wrote a flower girl
book about my grandkids and then a ringbearer book about my best friend's grandson.
So I love that.
I did write a 500-page wedding book
on how to get married and organizers.
But everyone says, when are you retiring?
When are you retiring?
I go, I really haven't, I think about it when I'm tired.
But what would I do? I love interior design, but I about it when I'm tired. Right. But what would I do?
You know, I love interior design,
but I don't want to return a couch.
You know, in the party world,
it's six hours and it goes away.
Right.
So if there's a spot on the couch,
you're not gonna know.
Yeah.
You know, but so, interior's too permanent.
My mom always says, the minute you stop working
is the minute when, you know,
you slowly start fading away.
Dying.
Like I think, yes.
Dying.
I know.
And MJ is 90, 90 and she says the same thing.
Yes.
She worked a lot.
And she worked until like 87 or something like that.
Yes.
So I have no plans.
Not that you want to do that.
I want to keep elevating.
I want to do unique.
There are some amazing event planners.
It's good you love me because there's some good, really creative, um, you know,
the looks going very residential now with how we're doing things.
But, um, I'm just, I love competition, so I'm gonna kill.
Well, I know. And you also did, you've done your master class.
Oh. Yes.
Good for you.
Yeah.
For remembering.
That was fun.
Yes, and do you like doing that?
Oh yes.
Well, they were worried
because they gave me a 500 page book to read
about what I'm gonna talk about.
I go, I'm not gonna read that.
If you're just asking me questions,
if I can't answer every question, then I'm not a master. And I had a great two 12-hour days and it was so much fun and I realized I knew a
lot about event planning. Well that was about weddings. You do when I took a
survey on one of my social platforms and I said I just wanted to hear what who
people wanted on because I like to see what the audience wants.
And you were one of my top requested. And so many people said how much they loved your master class
and they just want to hear more from you. That's so lovely. Thank you.
So that master class means a lot to a lot of people. I think everyone who meets you
falls in love with you because how could they not? And every party that you throw,
regardless if it's your first time meeting that person
or your hundredth time, you give your all.
And I just feel so honored and lucky that my mom
met you at that stationary store,
because I have you in my life,
and I could not imagine an event without you.
Thank you so much.
And I'm so grateful that you came on to Chloe and Wonderland.
I said yes in one second.
And this is our second time being here because we tried to tape this last week.
Yes.
All the power went out in the building.
We've been having fires in LA and there was high winds and Edison had to cut the power.
Yes. And we were literally, I think, two minutes in. Right. We've been having fires in LA and there was high winds and Edison had to cut the power.
And we were literally, I think, two minutes in. The power went out. But we're here. That's how much. But that's what happens at my events. It happens. And it didn't phase me.
Oh, no, it didn't. She was like, that's okay. I have to go to Kim's and plan Chicago's birthday
after this. I'm fine. Exactly.
It was fine.
Mindy came back.
And we're always about men to be.
Yes.
So there was a reason.
Divine timing.
Divine timing.
And now we're off to Palm Springs for Stormy and Air's birthday.
Here we go.
A double.
A double whammy.
Yes.
A double.
It will be fun.
I love you so much, Chloe.
And everything people think you are, all the good stuff, a double. It will be fun. I love you so much, Chloe, and everything people think you are, all the good stuff,
you are.
Thank you.
You are.
I hope you know that.
