We're here, Greg. We've been waiting for this day for so long.
Since the launch of the Switch 2, Joe.
and I have been saying where is Animal Crossing

update. And today, January 15th,
Nintendo has finally released
Animal Crossing, New Horizons,
Switch 2 Edition, alongside
Update 3.0 for Animal Crossing.
If this is your first kind of funny games

We have the chats pulled up here.
Thank you so much to everybody say, man, has anything been pre-recorded today?
They're really on it.
They're snappy.
No.
When me and Joey are going from here
to the Nintendo store for an Animal Crossing event
And so like when they added in this Resident Evil thing at two
We're like, listen, Joey and I are not changed your plans
At 2 o'clock you're going into Resident Evil
So we're trying to keep you all moving today
But here it is Animal Crossing, New Horizons,
Switch 2 Edition 3.0
I had to print off all the bullet points from Nintendo
In case you didn't know
You can use mouse controls now
Which I haven't done for moving again.
No, I'm a handheld, usually with my Switch I'm just handheld.
I don't dock it very often, so the idea of docking it and having that, not my vibe.
You can of course can call them on the megaphone to get them to come in, it uses the microphone.
You can see the island come to life with enhanced resolution.
You see I am playing on, docked, obviously, Switch 2 right now with the Switch 2 edition.
I'll talk about that a second.
Of course, 12 people can come to your island now via online.
It still sucks getting them in though, so why wouldn't do that?
Yeah, that's a tough...
More importantly, I think is the update 3.0, which launched alongside this as well, right?
You have the reset,
where you can come in and just clear your island completely off, which is fine.
More importantly, Cap'in's family has opened a hotel that you need to decorate to get a new,
get a new in-game currency, to get new things out of it.
We'll get there, don't worry.
Slumber Island is here, so you can have three additional islands via your dreamscape,
and there's a bunch of new collaboration islands like Zelda stuff and Lego stuff that I bought,
that I do believe actually is going to be over in my mailbox because I bought it yesterday.
I'm glad that you have been able to do some of this stuff, Greg, because let me tell you.
This update dropped yesterday.
It dropped early, so I didn't have my switch with me at work.
I got home.
I was just, like, not in a great mood yesterday.
So it was like, Animal Crossing, too much in a good mood.
Oh, wow.
It's not balancing out.
So I didn't start playing that until this morning.
But I did restart my island.
And there are, there were things that I had not done because I restarted my island.
Yeah.
So it was like, oh, you have to unlock capon, which I hadn't done because I didn't really necessarily
care about the, like, extra islands and stuff like that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So this morning, I was scrambling trying to like figure out, how do I get the hotel?
Jesus Christ, it's a brand new thing.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
And now with all the decorating at the hotel, too, I was like, I don't have nearly as many items as I had before on my old island.
So I was like, maybe this wasn't my best idea.
But I like jumping back in because now I have like purpose for doing all of it.
It's not because I feel like sometimes just like logging in every day, checking to see what's in the store gets like a little bit old.
So now that I have this like new update and the hotel stuff, I have like more motivation to try.
jump in and like really craft my island.
I think, you know, this is titled,
or will be titled or is titled, you know,
is it worth coming back for or something of that effect?
The thumbnail's already awesome.
I love the thumbnail I already saw.
And I think it's gonna have two interesting perspectives then.
Somebody who restarted their island,
which I know a bunch of people have.
I see over in the chat here, other people saying,
oh, there it is, a hero of time,
I also restarted my island.
Y'all are crazy.
This is my 2020 island.
I have come back to it for this or whatever,
and I've touched base, but I've never played.
And then my perspective is somebody
who says, oh, you know what, no, I haven't
restarted, I am in my old world, is it worth coming back to?
And I will tell you, I'll spoil it at the top.
I am shocked to say yes it is.
Yesterday, when they announced what they were doing for this,
I was very much like, oh, okay, cool, I guess that we're doing that.
Like, I don't know, decorating usually isn't my biggest thing.
Not my either.
My world here is very, like, a fireplace ready to go,
running, I can spend the camera for you.
But like, you know, this is my house, obviously, right?
And I've left my house very similar.
If you notice, this is all Missou, right?
I wanted to do an Ellis Library room.
My bedroom, of course, a shrine to everything I love.
You have your Ghostbusters, you have your shoe, hey, you have your Missou.
You got my bedspread there for the confound.
Of course, exactly.
The real unification, right?
What's wrong with you, Bear?
And then, of course, over here, my favorite room, my shrine to Jen.
The Jen bathroom?
My wife.
No, it's just the Jen room.
That's where I come and think.
That's right, it has her body.
Yeah, you got the pop agenda logo, lots of gen photos, a body there, her is slimer or whatever.
Mm-hmm.
A place I like to reflect.
But decorating, once I decorated these rooms, I was very much like, cool, I'm done and out of it.
Yesterday when we got the update early, which was great, and got to run over to the hotel
and started up, as soon as I get in, I was like, oh, fuck.
Like, this actually is cool, and I actually do like this.
It's the same thing I thought of with the Slumber Island.
I was like, I don't know if I like Slumber Island as much.
I never used. When they introduced dream things, I was never fucking around there before.
Jumping in last night, and I had a vision for what I wanted my first slumber island to be,
which I will reveal here on the show. Don't worry.
I'm waiting with faded breath. You should be, because it's in the early stages.
But I was like, damn, I like this a lot too.
Yeah.
But yeah, over here is the island, or I'm sorry, the hotel.
The idea here, and I assume it's going to go this way, but obviously Animal Crossing is a game that moves in real time.
Yesterday, I decorated two rooms, and they said, cool, that's all you can do for today,
maybe tomorrow. So I'm assuming it's going to go two by two to roll out that you can decorate.
More importantly for people who love ingame currencies like me.
Down here, they have a box that's asking you to make the DIY stuff like a garden wagon right now,
garden bench, bookshelf, etc. You go make these, you bring them back, and then you get that number
of tickets there. You see, I'm already at the 485, and then, of course, inside there's a gift shop for the hotel
that you can go into and actually get some stuff going and get some. Oh, here we go.
Captain's family over here doing the stuff.
Now we're gonna get our update for the day here from Layloni.
But yeah, super, super, super impressed.
Not impressed, I guess, but shocked.
You and me took a demo from Nintendo that we didn't even do a preview on
because it was just a much longer, less well put together version of that trailer
when they debuted all this stuff.
And I was very much like, oh, damn, I was hoping for more out of this.
I don't know if this will be something I do a lot with.
And coming back to it, I'm not saying I'm committed for another 300 hours or whatever.
But it's definitely like, oh, like, I want to decorate every one of these rooms.
And I want to see what else they're going to add to the store.
And that's where it's, you know, I was walking around the island.
And I was shocked.
I always think of myself as an Animal Crossing person, not very much about who's on my island.
But it was like, Moose came up, Penelope came up.
And I remember your name, remember me name.
And then Sky came up, who's like a husky.
And I could not remember their name.
And Sky's like, I'm thinking about leaving.
I'm like, you know what?
Hit the bricks.
I don't know who you are.
I don't know who the fuck you are, Sky.
Get out of here.
I can believe you don't love Sky.
Well, I have a frog thing.
I got Rattle, you know what I mean?
I'm there.
I know, Cap'n isn't a frog.
I got Rattle who I like a lot,
and then I'm now blanking after I just put it over
that I remember their names, but the other frog I have
and I'm like, yeah, yeah, I like all you.
I want you to hang out with me or whatever.
Let's see, we can check.
What is your, like, resident vibe?
Is it just like who you like?
Are you trying to get, like, all of one type?
See, for me, it was always first come first search.
Okay.
Because it wasn't about that.
It was about building the island,
and I've never had a real attachment
to anybody in terms of.
in terms of the people.
Because again, as we come in here and see that Rory
is staying in this room that I designed everybody.
All right?
This is Rory's one of missing links villages.
So interesting to see what you did with this room
with the same items.
Right?
I did.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
And that was, I think, a fun little idea of it
of like, you know, the dreamscape obviously lets you use everything.
And here they give you stuff when they were like,
we want a seaside room.
They gave me all this stuff over here, right?
the plants, the thing, the, blah, blah, blah.
But then it was-
Yeah, we have, like, recommended items for the theme.
But over here, like, the art on the wall
stuff I pulled from my personal collection.
Where I was like, oh, I want, what else would I want?
Personal collection.
My little hotel room, right, of doing this.
And I was like, damn, you know what?
Like, doing this and not being that interior designer,
but I think also not, for me, something I wasn't expecting.
My house, bear for a long time, until it was like,
oh, I'll do Missou Room, I'll do this Joe Jen room,
I'll do whatever.
Like everybody else, my video game,
or whatever. Then it was like, okay, I don't want to touch them, and I'm also not motivated to think of a new idea.
So when it was like, oh, you know what, here we go, we're going to give you a theme to work with.
For me, I was like, oh, that's really, really good. I like that. Did you do the second room, too?
No, I haven't, I'm still tweaking my first room. So the second room, they gave you a choice, and one of them was just modern, and it had all this wrought iron furniture, and it's like, cool, I'm going to make an interrogation room.
I'm going to make it, like, you know what I mean? I'll make an interrogation room, and apparently this new,
who Earth is here, let's see who this, I'm gonna who this is.
Barreled.
I, Barreld does not look familiar to me at all.
No, no, no, no, I don't know Barreled at all.
For as much like villager hunting as I've done,
to try and get my faves,
I have no idea who this person is.
Me neither.
Got a Mike Drucker vibe going on,
but yeah, that makes sense why they stay
in my depression and interrogation room.
But I like, again, going in and having me just one room,
and here's what we want to do,
like, oh, you know what, I like that.
So let's see what we get today
where we pull this. Chat is going off. Thank you so much. Oh, no, there it is. Snaven says,
I don't think Greg has mentioned it yet, but the best part of this update is crafting pulls from
your storage now. Yes, before if you were going to craft something at your bench, you needed
the items in your pocket. Now you can have them in your house storage and it'll pull from there.
A very nice update. There's a bunch of little things like that. You can jump now, you can
scrape. There's a bunch of little fun things. And I'm not even getting into the fact of,
I think when we've watched it on streams and it's like, hey, this is going to run an enhanced
and better resolution, better frame rate.
I look at him like, still looks like Animal Crossing.
Last night when at 9 o'clock this updated a Switch 2 version
and I'd already put a couple hours in as just, hey, whatever,
putting it on a switch day, I was like, oh damn,
this does run better, it does look better.
I'm seeing a frame rate different.
Oh, that's happy with that.
Lod times, still horrible, still fucking horrible.
Yeah.
Ooh.
I'm gonna do ranch room because I just-
That feels like a Greg vibe.
I grew up my parents had a ranch house, you know what I mean?
But it's also, I just did the modern room,
which I felt like was very simple.
Let's see what I'm the person to notice those like performance update.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like not my thing, but I think you probably playing the update before and after gave you like a better.
Yeah, for sure.
Having a bad, like literally slammed up against you.
Yeah.
I'm very excited to start decorating because decorating is usually not really my thing either.
I think that's the reason that the Sims never really like connected with me of like, I've played the Sims and stuff like that, but the design process is like not usually my favorite.
it, especially like creating something out of nothing.
I feel like, even with my island now when I restarted it, I was like, okay, I'm going to
restart my island, what theme do I want to be?
And I was like, oh, I wanted to be a Mamma Mia island.
So I, like, I needed some sort of like framework to work around to where then I feel like
a little bit more creative.
For sure.
Because I think it's, like, hard to just like pull something out and do it.
That's just like not really how my brain works.
I haven't used mouse controls or tell me.
Oh, I had to go through this too, yeah.
So that's why I think so far I like the hotel thing.
I like that they give you a list of like,
hey, these are all of the items that we think fit this theme.
You can pull from a bunch of those,
but then you also have the freedom
to like choose stuff from your own.
Yeah, exactly.
It's a good mix of creativity within guidelines.
Yeah, it's helping you do it, right?
So again, if you're watching right now,
you can see you come in and here's the recommended stuff
with all the new things.
But yeah, I have the ability to go with my R1 and L1 over here
and see all the stuff that I have collected
throughout the years, which is funny, too, because
talking about the
update coming at Christmas
time, I was hanging out with Hanger Goldfarb,
and of course, Goldfarb obsessed with Animal
Crossing back in the day. And he's like, yeah, well, if you
need anything, remember, I got everything, and I was like,
oh, why would I need it? And now I'm like, oh, fuck.
Like, you know, I have not kept up on, what have I missed?
I'm going to have sex to you later. What is not going?
Exactly, right? I'm like, ah, man, I'm really
going to have to get into, shoot, what do I need?
Where do I need it? As I go through and really start
figuring out how much stuff I want
and what I want it to look like. I need to go
back to one of those islands where you just go and you pick everything up.
I was like, I don't know that I'm going to make Andrew do that for me.
Yeah.
Because that seems like a nightmare.
Well, it's also that, you know, I've...
A teacup thing is so cute.
I don't think I've ever seen it.
Yeah, the dude, back to it, right?
I don't know how much wasn't there the first round.
You know what I mean?
They're checking in on the store every day.
Or also, more importantly, probably just like what came to stores after I stopped playing.
Yeah.
Because I don't know your entire journey, but like, obviously, this is our COVID game.
So March, you and me review it are all in on it.
And I was there daily, I want to say, well into the summer before whatever review got in the way or moved on,
and yet, yeah, yeah, like it always says.
But it was like, I came back for Christmas and I remember being disappointed, or Halloween.
In both Halloween and Christmas, I was disappointed where the Halloween stuff I want didn't unlock until, like, the end of the Halloween event.
And so it was like, ah.
Well, now I have this, but like, it's not.
That's why I mean, I'm in all Halloween town still.
That's what my vibe is out there or whatever.
but it's still like, ugh, this could have gone a different way
and been more enjoyable or whatever, I think, personally.
Yeah, I played, like, I had a second full-time job
for, like, the first six months of the game.
So I think, like, fall is where I fell off,
and then I came back for, like, a little bit of the Christmas-y winter stuff.
I think I did, like, a full year where I was playing, like,
pretty consistently, but then I had a better balance after the fall.
And then, because I think I just wanted to, like,
finish all the collection stuff and, like, get,
through the full year.
And then after that, I think I just played too much
too quickly and burnt out on it.
So then I didn't really touch it unless it was like,
the seasonal events, not, was it festival that they did?
Or like all of those things and like cherry blossoms
and stuff like that I would come back for.
But they didn't really give us like a ton of reason to come back.
And that's always been our story with it, right?
Of like, you know, I'm excited to be back for this.
But even playing this, it's still so much like,
why didn't you do this? Why didn't you do that?
And when I was like, why don't I have a better connection to my villagers
and the villager I care about, it really dawned on me
thinking in the run-up to this of like, well, the reason is, for me,
Animal Crossing starts on GameCube, where I lived in a house with seven other guys
and we had a game cube in the living room and all of us had a house,
or not all of us, whatever the player count was, had a house.
And so we all shared the same village where it would be like,
I'd go to class and then Hayes would take over and I'd come back and do something
and then Brian would come over.
And you'd like, do you shake all the fucking peaches?
Like, what are you?
I mean, like, I can't believe.
That's such a chaotic way to play the game.
That strikes me out.
I understand that we talk about Nintendo and WNDs,
but like the fact that Animal Crossing New Horizons
isn't, and here's your persistent online world
of you, me and Kevin, have an island that we live on
and do a thing, and then I have another island over here.
Like, don't even get me started on the fact
that I think this should be a games as a service,
always online, there's always a new event,
there's always a new drop, there's always some,
like they're doing events, not just letting this thing be there.
Because obviously, Animal Crossing, New Horizons,
kicked the living shit out of all their expectations, I guarantee it.
But they could have done so much more, and they should have done so much more, I feel like.
Yeah, I think for me, too, of, like, I cared about getting, like, my favorite villagers in initially,
but that was just, that was a one-and-done thing.
I think because Animal Crossing, when it dropped, it became such my, like,
connective social hub with my real friends, of, like, getting people to come into islands,
and, like, everybody always being, like, my turnip prices are this.
And it just became like a way to hang out with my friends
when we were all like stuck in our houses.
For sure, for sure.
Which I get and there's no way to anticipate
the global pandemic that would then change
the way we all looked at this game.
Maybe they would have optimized
the coming into the islands, loading.
It is, that's the one thing that I am surprised.
And like I don't know anything about game development.
But that is, I feel like was such a consistent criticism
of the game that I am kind of surprised that it's not updated.
But I also don't know how.
hard that is to do. So maybe that's it. Or fingers crossed, they have figured out for whatever
the next animal crossing is. Because yeah, it's not so fun to play with your friends when you
have to spend like 45 minutes trying to get everybody in and out.
A thousand percent. I've seen a couple of who say lobbing. Does Greg know about the new
L button feature? I don't know if Nintendo actually mentions it. I've seen that what the hop in,
the moving, the, we have, no, I don't know what the L, I don't know what you're referring to.
Maybe I do know about it, but I don't know what you're referring to.
Please inform me as I was trying to get us out of here so we go see something else.
But then it's like, no, you have to do this.
I'm like, okay, well, then hold on, I'll finish this.
Because again, I could come back.
I'm sure we do with someone.
Yeah.
We're here.
You know what I mean?
I don't want to screw.
I don't want to.
It's also, I guess, because I've only done the one room, I have like such a, and I think this is my issue with Animal Crossing in general and the decor stuff of like, I'm like, these are all rooms.
This is a hotel.
This is a bedroom.
Everything needs a bed.
Yeah, I know.
I know, I know. That was like, that was the modern room when I was like, oh, nothing looks good for a bedroom.
I'm like, you know what? In this hotel? First off, nobody's fucking sleeps in this game.
Yeah. So like, I'm not going to worry. I'm not going to worry about it. I'm just going to do this. Hold down L on your character strafes and side steps. Yes, yes, yes. Okay.
So I've heard of that yes, and I know the jumping thing. I saw Rebecca Valentine's amazing jumping thing yesterday.
I can look that up now too. Well, hold down L apparently when I'm outside of this. I want chat, audience, whatever. I want, I will be back for this.
I assume you can update them again, even though she was like, if you're leaving, well, I guess, whatever,
oh, I can't just leave it. What do we got here?
No, you might as well just leave it mostly finished.
And I press the pause button, too.
It's all these things too of being like, what are the controls?
Like, how do I do all of this again?
I did feel bad walking into my house.
And I was like, oh, the cockroaches.
Oh, it's disgusting.
And they're there so, even once you to stomp them, they're there's so long still.
I know, and they're little ghosts.
Yeah, I know.
I don't care.
along. Throw a rug down and I'll call it a day on this. I would I would do it better everybody,
but I want to go show other things. Yes. Um, is this anything that Ben's going to care about,
you think? It's funny to think about Ben. Ben playing actual games. Not being around for your first
Oh yeah. When this game started, yeah, 100%. Because Jen was pregnant? No, not even. I mean,
20, you know, 2020, she was not pregnant yet. Uh, yeah, no, you know, when Ben is a big fan of looking at
my switch and he knows his games.
And so early on when he was finding games,
he did see Animal Crossing, and I put him in there,
and I let him run around, but no cars.
There's nothing for him to do.
I mean, you're playing Spider-Man,
you come in here, you're trying to do this.
I'm like, I don't know.
You know what I mean?
I don't know if that's going to hit the same way.
Dad, why you're just doing chores?
Exactly, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And that was the funny thing of getting into the rhythm
again last night with it, where I was like,
oh, yeah, and it's like, okay, so cool.
Now I got to check in on skate every day
to get my free currency there and do some.
But then I got to check on the ammo.
be an addiction problem.
And I was like, well, is Skate ever gonna come to Switch?
Because that would make it so much easier.
Oh, yeah, that you could just have one thing
that you're trying to get everything on.
Just running like complete ass, I'm sure,
but right there.
That is the problem with like the games as a service
is like the daily check-ins and all of that kind of stuff.
Because yeah, that was Fortnite for me for so long
of like the battle pass and all that kind of stuff.
But yeah, I was-
popping in last night,
getting my cup of coffee over, Brewster is right.
Like, I was checking in here.
I was like, damn yeah, the hooks are in me again.
to check them.
You know what I mean?
To carry it with me, pop in, see what's going on.
Are you a completionist?
Come in here, constantly be disappointed.
No.
That's, well, I am for certain things as you know.
Like the museum and art, no.
Those, it's like that doesn't motivate me.
I know that when talking to Goldfarb in the heat of 2020,
he was all about that.
And I was like, that's just, I, I,
if somebody asked me, why do you play Animal Crossing?
I guess it really is for me this evolution of Sim City.
of making a town and then watching it function.
Where it's like, the decorating honestly has not
click with me until like this thing where I was like,
oh shoot, maybe this is actually fun
and maybe I would like to do this.
And like, you know, I'm gonna go show you
one of my slumber islands here where I was like,
well, why would I do that?
And then the idea of like, oh, well,
in the same way I could have themes for rooms,
you know, I've never touched them once I've done it,
what could I do with more space and more things?
Like, oh, I get that.
But no, Animal Crossing isn't about that.
So now is I try to get a little bit like,
okay, who do I want?
on my team now with this new open house.
And who else needs you have knocked out of it?
If you walk up and I don't know your name,
you're gone.
Yeah.
We're going into our dream world.
Of course, dreams, correct me if I'm wrong on this, Joe.
And chat, you might have to, because I know me and Joe are the same.
Yeah.
The dream world didn't launch with it, right?
That was an update where now you had the dream island
where you could have people come visit your island,
even if you weren't online.
And I feel like that was like, definitely after I had stopped.
playing like daily.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Maybe like a year or a plus.
Yeah, it wasn't that far because when I went on,
it was like, there's this dream and the thing,
and yet, yeah, yeah, yeah, right?
I, last night, after I'd done my first slumber island,
it then started talking to me about the dream island thing again.
Yeah.
Oh, right.
And I was like, I was confused.
I'm going to go somewhere I've been before thinking I'd get back
to my slumber island.
And the last dream island I went to was Joe Biden's dream island
when we did that stream for me and good.
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.
So that was 2020 still.
That was 2020.
So that was not that far out.
Yeah, so here we go.
Right.
So yeah, revisit a dream, right?
It's gonna show me Biden's fucking island.
That's so...
Yeah, there it is the only one I've ever visited or whatever.
That's so funny.
I guess, yeah, it's still, I was gonna say
it's still up, it's never been updated.
But here we go again, so I screwed this up.
So let's back out of this because I miss it.
So like, I don't, oh, yeah,
about my dream, my islands.
No, see, this is, and this is my,
go to my dream island if you want.
I'll update it for you.
right now too. So if you're an audio listener, go to the YouTube part. It's already off the screen
what my thing was. I'll add it up there. I think I have to back back out. I must have put the wrong
thing trying to go to slumbers. I'm still learning on the slumber islands. You know what I mean?
Yeah. It was also something that like never really spoke to me. No, yeah, again. You're like,
okay, cool. Whatever's. Yeah. Just not what I was using in World Crossing for.
All right, so if you're an audio listener later and you want to go to Smallville,
my town, Dream Island addresses DA-703-3-8105-5-9-5-1.
If I want to dream, it takes...
I did something wrong for the...
We're going to wake up.
We're going to wake up and get back in the bed.
Wake up, get back into bed.
Wake up.
Because, yeah, I do not recall.
Because it's a weird one.
Last night when I was like...
How to get in there.
I started working on a slumber island and left, and then I came back.
and then it was my dream island?
I'm like, wait, no.
Those are different things?
I must, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Get out here, stretch it out.
Okay, get back in.
Okay.
Should I get some sleep?
And this is it.
It's slumber time.
There it is.
Fucking Nintendo.
Fucking Nintendo.
Just make it easy.
Why isn't this all under one sleeping menu?
You're asleep.
Do you want to go to your slumber islands or this?
And you know why?
Because they're fucking patching all this shit on
with goddamn tissue paper and duct tape
and trying to make it work.
I will say there are just those fun things.
I went to, oh, it must have been the museum
to like empty my pockets and get some like fossil stuff
and I like clicked the wrong thing
and then I was just like immediately bothered
that I was like, I have to click through like seven
different dialogue options to even get to the,
like I knew immediately that I clicked it wrong.
So we're gonna go to, this is.
Animal Crossing, I love you and I hate you.
My first slumber island is a work in progress,
But as I said, what's important about it is it got me excited for the slumber islands where, oh, what can I do with this for what Greg Miller would do with these islands?
You know what I mean?
What's the team orange island going to look like?
That's not where you're going right now.
I have not made the team orange, but I do think there will be, I know there is an orange party coming up in 2026 where we're all going to get together and celebrate me in winning game show around season four.
But I will, if you can't make it, make you an orange island you can visit.
Wow.
Right now we're going to go to RIPTIM.
That's the island I started working on last night
that I'm pretty stoked about.
It's a small one.
What's even better is that Gia can come visit this island.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
I don't know how much longer she kept playing.
I think there was definitely like a week or two.
When we were coming up on that preview of like,
hey, did you keep going?
And she's like, no, I'm like, okay, well, then we don't need to bring you in
for this one here.
Now that she has her feet when she understands Animal Crossing,
then for the next one.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Maybe that's it.
Because I'm going to say, we're not going to get her to try this.
Oh, no.
The Getty's family has a lot going on.
She could be as silly as me and Jen were and bring switches to the hospital.
Oh, there's my house.
What is it?
It's just hold on left.
Oh.
I mean, you get straight for it like this.
I think it was Reb that reposted on Blue Sky this morning.
Somebody used all of those to the Chacha slide.
It was so fun.
All right, so this is my first dream island where I was like,
what could I do with a dream island?
and I thought the one thing I would want to do.
Live a dream, you know what I mean?
Surrounded by blue, favorite color.
That's how he wants to be around.
Mm-hmm.
Take a screenshot, you know what I mean?
Everybody, you can screenshot this too.
In case anything ever happens to Tim.
Yeah.
This is how it is.
We will be holding part of Tim's funeral
in Animal Crossing.
I mean, he'd want as many people to come as well.
Yeah.
The fix elation.
That was slightly horrifying.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
The one on the right is definitely better.
Yeah, you know, you work with, and like, you want to talk about, like, what a trip this was of, like, how do I upload an image to Animal Crossing again?
And, like, Google that and be like, all right, there it is, figuring it out.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that was doing intense Googling about this update.
So many of us coming back.
I was like, where is the hotel?
Why don't I have it?
And they were like, oh, you have to have a three-star island rating.
I was like, I think I do, but I guess I've just never.
You have a three-star island rating for it?
I didn't realize that.
To get Cap, and then Capon unlocks the hotel.
I guess that's like the linchpin of it all.
But I had to like then go ask about my island rating.
And I think it's been a three, but I didn't do the thing where like,
then it triggers the KK Slider concert.
And I was like, oh, is that why I've never been able to terraform?
But I just like was doing other stuff so I didn't dig into it.
And I was like, wow, there's just all these dominoes that needed one little thing.
Who would have thought?
You know what I know.
And just like so rest.
because it's been a hot second. I mean, that's been the funniest thing of coming back here and then
like all the buttons. Like, wait, why do I? How do I? I'm trying to call up this. I'm doing
the wrong thing. Rest in peace, Tim. We'll never forget you. No.
But that's how I think I'm going to use my eyes.

What I'm just fucking we're coming back to an ad break
Well actually what I do want to do is oh Ponton. Yeah Ponton I love how Greg kind of does the Trump hands in ad reads
Motherfucker, I'm doing Bill Clinton. That's Bill Clinton
Learn your presidents. All right when I'm doing this. I'm doing Bill Clinton
S&L back in the day. Don't worry about it. You know what I mean? Yes.
It's so funny to be playing Animal Crossing with other people because you just realize that
how differently people play.
I almost always play handheld because I'm usually like watching something and I'm like tinkering
around.
But I never play with the sound on.
So I forget about how good the music is.
The music is so good that like I had the similar thing where I totally forgot about it.
And then one day I was like, oh shit, the Nintendo music app.
Just put it on and just listen to while I was doing dishes and driving around, which is not usual for me.
No, I've never downloaded the Nintendo music app and-
You really should yeah no no no
Free music, you know what I mean? It sucks that they you know hide all that stuff over there
Yeah, I'm not ignoring you right now
I was hoping I could make something easy, but of course in this world
Nothing is easy no nothing is easy
I'm scrolling as far back as I can go but I can get it to work for some reason
Earlier 13 days ago on a kind of funny subreddit known as the kind of funny subreddit. Here it is I
A young lead, who I've never met or heard of about before, named kebabs.
I know kebabs.
Thank you for explaining that.
If you don't know, kebabs is not allowed to come to the Orange Party.
Oh.
That was a decree made when I won the championship because kebabs didn't believe in me.
Cababs, as you all know, a dedicated kind of funny best friend in the chat all the time.
Cababs posted all of the new kind of funny merch.
Oh!
So I want to go into Able Sisters and I already downloaded it all.
Hold, let me throw some on for it real quick.
I should have probably done that before we came out.
But, you know, one of the cool things about Animal Crossing, of course.
Cabobs is here right now.
I know, I know.
I saw Kababs earlier.
I saw Kababs earlier.
This is why I wanted to, again, dated.
Look at my Biden's yard signs in my custom design.
Oh, the Portillo stuff is so cute.
Oh, I know, right, yeah, yeah.
Oh, wait, did you use any of that pathway stuff?
I did at one point on Halloween.
Yeah.
First year.
Oh, there it is.
So here are all the clothing stuff.
And you see, here's a lot of old stuff.
I don't want to start naming names.
I want to say Olive Party made a lot of the old stuff back in the way that we used.
But Cababs has gone through, yeah, and did like all the new stuff that are more recent kind of funny.
Oh my gosh.
That's technically a throwback, right?
But like, here's the, you know, kind of funny games dailyly 2000.
Here's the pokey smiley one, which I like.
I'll wear that the rest of the way because I wear that one all the time.
But great job, kebabs.
I do want to give a shout out to that.
I can favorite and if I did favorite before.
We'll jump in and see so that you all have it for your own.
What up, Mabel?
Oh, that sweater's cute.
You want to get a-
Greg, buy that sweater and send it to me.
Yeah, you got.
That is a good sweater.
I walked in this morning to my shop and I was like,
I don't wanna be like a medieval night.
That's not an exciting day of purchases for me.
I did have to do the thing that I don't love doing,
which is that I did have to time off
to fix all my stuff this morning.
Oh yeah?
I hate that.
Can't do it, can't do it.
I know, but I just like, needed.
needed to get it all done.
Jumping in here to show this.
But yeah, if you're new to Animal Crossing,
you're not, obviously, there's never been,
there's never been a better time to jump in, obviously,
because of how much stuff has been in.
Yeah, so I didn't, I for sure didn't favorite you,
my favorites are Roger, Laudie Lou, who I don't know,
Team Joe, that's my favorite people.
So here, we're gonna pop it in there for everybody to do.
So if you wanna go,
Bollah kebobbs like you should, M.A.
Three, two, two,
four, five, uh, six, nine, one, two, one, three, seven, zero.
Boom, pop that in there.
Favorite kebobbs, so I'm always up today,
I don't want to do.
Boom, nailed it.
See, but how do I even favorite somebody in that?
Because I'm in there, there's all the kind of funny clothes.
I didn't even download it all,
I just downloaded the stuff that I usually wear.
Of course, a lot of nitro rifle stuff here.
We're not gonna advertise, Andy.
All right, we're not gonna advertise.
No, even though you do wear his sweatshirt a lot,
We're not gonna advertise in this.
Okay.
Pop in, oh there, there you go,
favor like that.
Ah, perfect.
There we go.
There you go.
I like that a lot.
So real cool stuff.
Hold on.
So, Joe, sir.
Yes.
I know you, I talked about my own,
hey, I'm coming into this.
Yes.
This is enough that I'm, ooh, I want to turn it back on
and I imagine that's gonna get a toks in me
to keep me going for a few days, weeks, whatever it is.
Mm-hmm.
Right now with a brand new eye.
Now unlocking all the stuff, right, of having cap and having the boat, having the hotel,
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
What are you thinking it's looking like for you playing more?
It's, I'm at an interesting point, Greg, because I feel like I, in like the last six months
have, like, played the least amount of games that I've played in, like, the last 10 years.
There's just not enough time for all of my hobbies.
You got to see hobbies, is really what it comes down to.
There are so many books to read.
There are so many needlepoint projects to do.
Now I have new needlepoint friends
and we have like all of these things that we're doing.
So it's just,
it's hard to balance out all of the stuff that I want to do.
I'm trying to be better about seeing movies.
All of these things.
So I feel like the gaming like section of my life
is getting a little bit smaller.
However, the great thing about Animal Crossing,
A, that it's handheld,
and B, that I can do it while I'm watching other things.
So it does have that leg up on me.
I think that this update
is kind of a double-edged sword in the sense that it's motivation
because I have a new thing to do where I feel like productive
and I have motivation to like log in every day
to buy all the new items so I can use them in the stores
and like decorate my island and stuff like that.
But then it's also like a little bit overwhelming
of being like, oh, I'm like kind of starting over still
and having to like acquire all of that.
That's why like I can't believe it, the amount of people
who are like, I'm restarting.
I'm like, I could never.
And it's like I just to go back.
to having the tent.
You're shaking the trees for the stick to make the thing.
Like, I just like, I can't go back.
It wasn't that bad because I, especially for my second island, like, I broke so many
of, like, my own, like, purest rules of, like, I was time traveling all over the place.
I was going to my friend's islands.
I was like, Lauren, I need you to log on and I need to drop me two million bells.
And she's like, sure, why not?
I don't care.
I haven't logged on in, like, a year.
So I was like really working the system on that one to try and make it as quick as possible.
So it wasn't like as hard as it would have been from the beginning.
But I so I think that I just like don't necessarily care about it because care about it in that way because I've broken all of the usual way.
That's fair. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I couldn't do that either. I can't time travel.
I thought it was a very funny thing when you run into resetting.
and he's like, has a whole conversation.
You know me.
Yeah.
If you, I had a whole thing, but maybe I won't be that bad anymore about resetting.
Like, it's like, you know, such a fucking callback to all the animal crossings of old
of him screaming at us for doing everything wrong.
Yeah.
It's funny, too, because it's like, I had to, like, I just found Brewster on an island this morning.
And so, like, that's like, all the stuff that I had kind of forgotten about because it's been
so long.
There is, like, such a, something that I was talking about with friends is, like, the different ways
that like you find comfort, whether it's like going back to like old podcasts that you used to
listen to old music and stuff like that. I feel like that for me definitely is Animal Crossing
where it's like just familiar. You know what you're getting into. You know exactly like what you're
doing and how it all works. And it just brings back like such a nostalgic mindset of like when this
was like the only way that we like we could all hang out and stuff like that. So it's kind of nice to
tap back into that occasionally too.
The real problem that I have with jumping back in
is that finding all of like the codes
for like the paths that I want is so much harder now
because of the time that's passed and like things have expired
and people aren't updating as quickly.
So it's like anytime I'm looking up inspiration
on Reddit for like Mamma Mia Islands and stuff like that
and like particular designs and stuff like that,
half of them I can't find.
and I'm just not talented enough to make them myself.
This should give a shot on the arm though of a, you know, recreating and getting in there.
Yeah. Hopefully this will bring more people in because I would like to finish my island like that.
I think part of it too is just like, oh, the daily nature of it worked really well for me back then
because it was like you always had something to do but now I'm like, no, I have other things that I need to do outside of this game
and I need to like make the days go by a little bit quicker. I want to get,
all of my like blue and white flowers to decorate my island,
so it looks very Greek and stuff like that.
And then yeah, like the acquiring of the items,
I don't necessarily have the patience to wait day by day.
But that's my, this is the problem of my own making,
I understand.
Yeah, and again, like, Goldfarb does have it all.
So we do have a cheat code of that.
And I, we also have the kind of funny best friend.
Yeah.
Who we're also so wonderful and dropping stuff for me and Gio
when we played last year.
And that's my thought on it, right, of like, okay, cool.
Like, if I come back in like, it's more of like,
You don't know what you don't have.
And so like when I go into the hotel and start like,
oh shit, that, that, that, that.
Like if I want that or I find something I need
for the Orange Island, then I can go, okay,
I can go get that somewhere else and get that.
Do you have like a vision for the Orange Island?
Are you starting to like put it together?
Yeah, I want it to be the Orange Party.
You know what I mean?
So really you get it off and it needs to be disco,
I need that DJ set.
I wanna, I'm gonna get a bunch of orange stuff
and like lock it in so it's like blocked in,
like not, it doesn't feel like you're out
in the island anymore.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We're gonna have a lot of work to do
to put that together in World, I think.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Cibabs over in the chat right now says,
Steve Saylor, of course, friend of the show,
wanted to go back to his island,
but found out the hard way the islands are tied to the console
and aren't part of a Nintendo's cloud servers.
He wiped his Switch one and gave it as a Christmas present,
so he'd start moving out.
That's a tough way to find out.
Matt Kim, who's former IGN coming on next week
to do games daily and the games cast with me.
He had the same revelation on BS.
That's a blue sky's him.
And I was like, it's one of those where you take for granted
what you know.
as like just, like all the stupid, intricate PlayStation knowledge
where it's like, oh, you didn't,
I remember that being such a thing
and having to get the island mover app.
To move it between switches.
And of course, when I got the switch to,
that was like my main, like, I can't fuck this up.
I need my Animal Crossing Island.
And then to a lesser extent, my Pokemon's aid.
Because that was the exact same way, right?
There's another Joe sign.
We're ready.
Ready.
This is, I mean, this is why-
Comeo lost, never saw an island for her.
It's funny to, because,
with like the switch and the transferring
and starting a new island.
Every once in a while,
and like now I'm getting to the point
where I kind of regret it
where like maybe it was like 20,
it might have been like 2019
where I got a new phone
and I like didn't restore it from a backup.
There's like just years of stuff
that I only have in like weird places
like Facebook pictures and stuff.
And I feel like it's kind of similar
where it's like a, sometimes it's nice
to have a fresh start and just be like
starting over
but then you're like
oh I do have having.
all of this stuff.
Oh, are you gonna kick?
No, I love Rattle.
I'm with Rattle. Rattle. Riterdown.
Calls me Bing Bong, which is what I used to call Pordy.
Oh, that's so cute.
Something fun to do.
I just always assume that that thought bubble
means that they're trying to leave.
That's always what I'm hoping.
It's the thing where I, you know, you so rarely,
at least me, talk to people.
I was like, hello, how are you doing?
You just move on my life.
Hello, goodbye.
As I was running around this morning and like switching days
and everything like that, I saw one of the villagers
who, like, I don't really care about.
had one and I was like, oh, on any other day,
I would be like kicking you off immediately,
but I have to like figure this out
how to get all of this stuff back up and running.
So now I'm stuck with one of those hippos
for who knows how long.
A knit cap.
This is the other thing about me, right,
where it's like, I love all the kebab's clothes,
but so many of them are T-shirts
and with the being snowy outside, I can't do it.
Like I have to be in a sweatshirt or a jacket or whatever.
Oh, with the hat and everything.
I need to make, yeah, well, now that's a great, that's a great pick for right now.
Yeah.
I should go and get, there we go, that's what I like to see Gavin.
I should go out there and get kind of funny hats made.
That's so, I've never thought about dressing seasonally in this game.
It's like, it's like a backbreaker for me.
I'm always in like the weirdest amalgamation of things.
Even today I was just like, I had a tiera on, but a wetsuit and like these boots.
I was like, what was I'm doing this?
I was like, I must have gone to like Beckett.
or somebody's island and picked up a bunch of clothes
and been like, shoot, I have to put something on
to, like, free up space.
Oh, I don't think I...
It's always fun to, like, rediscover what your island
and, like, what your house looks like to.
For sure. Yeah, this was like,
honestly, this is my most uninspired area.
Yeah.
I saw everyone else doing it, and I was like,
oh, yeah, I should have a game,
and I just didn't, and I never come down here.
Now, this is one of my things I love
where they made the Pandamusk shirtless Spider-Man.
Oh, yeah.
Insert for the magazine.
That's so funny.
I am interested, I wonder, it wasn't in this 3.0 update
last night, or yesterday, but I haven't checked,
I wonder if they've added a switch two now to the Nook shop.
Oh.
Like the A.T., the Bell's A.T.
I can call it, I forget the name of it.
All right, I'll get out of my house, let's go.
I appreciate the face-fast.
I got things to do.
No problem.
Love you, Rattle.
It's driving me crazy that I can't,
I was like, oh, I know all the frog's names,
and I can't picture the second frog.
The one that lives on your island?
Yeah.
Well, now we have to go find him.
Or her.
Have you used the megaphone stuff?
No.
Okay. Where do we get the megaphone?
From the store.
Let's go get the megaphone and we'll call for a frog.
Probably not helpful in this particular thing since we can't remember its name and we need the reverse thing.
Cobops says pull up your map.
I know. I know. No, no, I know.
But I'm trying desperately to remember.
Because I was so impressed last night when they walked up and I was like, oh, my hello!
Especially if you knew it last night.
then you're like, it's there.
I blame Tim.
Tim talked to me today, he ruined me.
You've asked so many times for Tim not to address you.
Exactly.
Just so sad that he doesn't listen.
We're looking for the Switch 2, is that the deal?
Yeah, and I don't even know in the right section.
I'm also just looking, you know what I mean?
Because this is where the Lego stuff is too.
This is one of those things that drives me mad, though,
of like I can't tell what I've bought on.
You can do that in your...
Switch 2 is in the hotel shop now?
Thank you, here, Tom.
I'll go check that.
Oh, really?
Did you buy everything from the...
Well, you know, you're limited.
Oh, that's right.
So it's that thing where you go,
oh, you can only buy so much on a day.
So it's like, I know I bought lots of this.
Where I stopped though, I don't remember.
Is it five?
I can only buy five things, so I must have that, that.
You tried to customize any of it with the customization kits.
I'm just worried if you can change the colors.
No, I don't think you can't, can you.
I definitely do it.
I don't love the primary colors.
Let me make them pretty.
Yeah.
Five things a day, then I must spend right around.
Oh, damn it.
That's, for me, big annoyance there.
If you can pull all my crafting materials from my house,
pull all my goddamn bells from the ATM.
Because I was, I ran out, or I didn't have enough to buy last night.
I was like, damn.
I went to the ATM and like 10 million bells.
Like, right, fuck, I forgot about the stock market
and when we all abused that.
Yeah, that seems like an easy, like analog feature,
or not analog, but.
Melissa with the Y, can you show us the Zelda stuff?
The Zelda stuff is tied to an amoebo,
and I don't have a Zelda amoebo.
Does anybody have, nobody has amoeboes here, really, right?
I feel like, probably not here.
Oh, there he is! That's it! Huck!
I love you, Huck! I'm sorry, Huck.
I'm gonna give you a gift, all right?
What do I got to give you?
You're the man, Huck.
Take the stupid wing.
Enjoy.
I feel like you don't think somebody has, like a,
you don't think Baird has a Zelda amoebaugh on his desk?
Well, Bear can hear us.
Yeah, that's true.
Bear's probably out there scouring.
Because we used to have them in the old studio on the shelves.
You're right.
Like, is there anything over there?
You're right.
I was like, that's an amoeba, but I don't know.
Or was that?
I don't know.
Yeah, that's my amoeba.
Oh, that's the customer.
I don't know.
Yeah.
All right, everybody.
Joey, Google.
No, no, I actually remember.
I remember.
It's in my phone.
It's in my phone.
But do you have to have your switch?
Well, no, because it's on here.
It's on the touchpad or other thing.
I believe in you.
No, yeah, it's another one that it's like,
I've never used it, but I saw it recently
when I was screwing around with this.
Page over?
Island Life 101, best friend list, chat log, rescue services.
The ATM, thank you, Melissa with the Y.
Unless with the Y, the best.
We don't talk about it, no.
Pulling all these clowns through their stupid ass,
Elbin Ring game, saving our bacon over here.
tolerating all of my heated rivalry,
ranting and raving on a constant basis.
Does every amoebo invite somebody to the island?
Damn.
You're terrifying.
I love whoever this is.
I'm about to use all of Barrett's meatballs.
I know, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, it's just Mineroon and Tulin, okay.
How do I unlock the stuff to wear, whatever?
It might not be wearables, but there's like,
There's Zelda merch I know too in the game, right?
And I assume I can only do one at a time,
but I'm gonna check this.
Yeah.
We're here, we're streaming.
Daniel Z, go to Nock Shop.
Check the other day, I guess I just, maybe it goes to her.
Oh, I can only do one at day, okay.
Oh, it's unlocked automatically now.
Thank you, Kabop.
Okay, okay.
I'm not time travel.
Joster.
What you do on your switch.
The horror.
What you do on your switch is your own business,
not me, all right?
I wanna see the Zelda stuff IRL over here at the shop.
Or was it, no, is it gonna be in here?
This is where you have the megaphone.
Yep, there it is.
Ah, I got 60 bells!
Well, at least all your stuff is nearby.
Here, what we're gonna do, oh, it's my, nook,
I'm on the phone.
I'm out of bells, remember, and we're out of time.
I wanna make sure they get over for that Resident Evil thing,
so we're just gonna run over,
meet Minru, over at the campsite.
This is the problem with Animal Crossing.
You move one rock, you find five different things you wanna go do.
Time just flies so quickly.
Oh, we're both drinking, we're friends.
Welcome.
I forgot that you have the music,
that kind of funny jingled too.
Yeah, right.
There you go.
Zelda people here on the island,
Zelda things on the,
yeah, I'm a little bit of her.
Melissa with the Y, she's so cute.
I can't wait to have her on my island.
I don't care who I'm gonna sacrifice.
Yeah, I'll have to make sure when Skye's ass is gone
that I get over here and make it happen.
Mm-hmm.
And then yeah, oh, it's Nick Miles on the,
on the 18th.
All right, everybody, this has been your first ever.
Kind of funny, games,
cast plays, us actually looking editorial-wise at a product.
I'm very impressed with this update.
It's doing what I want, Joey,
and that's getting me back into Animal Crossing,
giving me a reason to turn it on multiple days in a row,
at which I hope then hooks me and makes me go,
okay, yeah, I will play this longer than I thought
I was going to play it and have new life breathed into it.
I agree, I'm excited.
Now I do really think that I'll have enough
to get my island to the way that I want it.
An excuse to log in every day,
and then maybe also like rabid,
or Cool Farms Island for all the stuff
that I don't have.
But yeah, I think it'll be fun.
I hope that more people jump into it
and I hope that this is like kind of the shot in the arm
in Animal Crossing that people have been waiting for
because I would love to,
for people to start designing new things
that I can steal from my island.
That would be fantastic.
Everybody, we hope you enjoyed this episode.
