What's up and welcome to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
Of course, I'm your host Tim Getty.
I'm joined today by blessing at E.
E.Oye Jr.
Good day, Tim.
Snowbike Mike.
Good day, Tim.
Greg Miller.
Good day, mate.
And Andy Cortez.
Mito.
Mito.
Mito and Saria.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mito, I'll give you the past.
Like, who really good?
Saria?
Sariah song?
It was always Saria to me.
Wow, man.
And I mean, they didn't speak it.
Yeah, I would have known, you know.
Yeah, that's true.
Of course, we just watched the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary, Nintendo Direct.
You can check out our live reactions.
But if you don't want to, we're going to break down everything we just saw and talk all about
what we liked, what we didn't like, what we
wished was there that wasn't everything
in between. If you're watching live,
be part of the show by Super Chatting on YouTube.com
slash Kind of Funny Games. Let us know what you
thought of the Zelda
Aquarina of Time remake.
The little we heard about the movie. Let us know
what your thoughts are. Remember, we couldn't do this
without our producers on patreon.com slash
Kind of Funny. So, thank you to do
Omega Buster, Delaney the Sommetwining, and Michael
Pisavento. For now, now as we begin with
the topic of the show.
Tots, Tats, Tats, Tats.
It's Zelda, baby.
Bless.
I want to start with you.
What did you think of what we saw?
I thought that was a really fun time.
This is one of those ones where I feel like we knew so much going in of what was going to be here.
We're here to celebrate.
We're here to talk about what we expected as far as the symphony, right?
Learn more stuff about the movie and learn more stuff about O'Card at a time.
We got all of that.
Really happy at the symphony's happening.
I hope they announce more of the dates soon because I really hope we get one coming right to the Bay Area.
I expect it, but you never know.
you know what I mean um and so that's exciting the movie obviously I wish we got a full trailer for
that I'm kind of surprised we didn't get a little bit more out of that but it's nice getting the
title and the big logo for it um you know I think just calling it the legend of Zelda makes a lot
sense I'm not mad at it I think for something that you want to introduce to maybe a new audience
or a broader audience of movie goers I think starting with just the legend as all it makes it
simpler for those people and not having some kind of subtitle um and also this gives you an opportunity
to kind of like start from the ground floor for the movie audience.
So I'm excited for what that title means.
We'll probably get more into that as we talk about it.
Ocreen at a time,
like, man, I think there is so much about what they showed off there
that spoke directly to my heart as far as bringing me
and bringing us back to a game that we all view is so magical.
And a game that really did capture so many things,
whether it be how much the music really brought us in,
how much of the world and how vast it felt at the time really brought us in, right?
characters, Gannonorf, all these different things.
There's something about the art style here that doesn't all the way speak to me,
but it reminds me of how I felt when I watched the Star Fox trailer and then played the
Star Fox game where, but as I was playing the game, it kind of sat better with me.
But when I first saw that trailer, I was like, ooh, I don't know how I feel about this.
I'm kind of getting a similar thing here.
I think it looks very impressive.
You know what I mean?
Like, I look at so many shots in this Ocarina trailer and I'm like, wow, this is really,
like, this is incredible that we've come so far.
but there's something about the character models.
There's something about almost the,
I took Zelda and put into Unreal look of it
that isn't all the way vibing with me
as far as the art direction of it.
But, you know, I'm excited to actually get my hands on it.
I think once I'm actually playing the game,
I might not have those same complaints.
So overall, I had a really good time.
Mike.
Tim, I had a fantastic morning with you.
What a great way to start the day, right?
I think we started off very strong
with the opening symphony right here,
playing all of the hits and then of course
showcasing all of the fun. They kept it
very light in my opinion on what I thought
we would be getting into with a 40th anniversary
and kind of talking about what's
happening. We saw the museum. We talked
about the movie for a minute, but we all know
what we're here for. It's the Akrona of Tom
remake, right? We want to see that
and boy, did we get to see that game? We did.
Oh man, we saw a lot of that game and I'm
very impressed with it.
Voice acting added to the cinematic
cutscenes, very excited about that.
I love that. I do really like
the look of the world. I love the enemy
designs. I love the glow up that we're
seeing. I like the modernization, of course,
of the controls that we all expect
to be there, right? I think it hit everything
that I wanted to hear
and then most importantly, it looked
exactly how I wanted it to
kind of look, right? My dream was to
have this super stylized world
to have Link running around
and most importantly, to have voice acting
is a huge win for me. I think
I'm not mad at any of this of what I
saw. I love that we got the date early
in November as well.
A little bit of the way out of Grand Theft Auto so we can jump in here early.
I agree.
It's not the longest game so you can get in there early, especially this old heads.
I'll tell you.
I spent a lot of time in this game, though.
You know, somebody in the town was like, I'll beat this in three hours.
Someone like Mike took about 20 hours.
Well, yeah.
Yeah, but I'm living.
That's what I mean.
I think that's about right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm not trying to rush through.
That'll be, come on.
Death Mountain with the Goros hanging out with my squad.
The Gorons and they're going to have voice acting now too.
In the cutscenes.
I'm very happy.
Hi, Tim.
What'd you think?
I think Ocarina looks awesome.
I know we're going to spend a lot of time talking about that.
I think maybe as something billed is the 40th anniversary direct,
it might have been a little light on content,
which isn't, you know, it is what it is kind of thing.
I came in Ocarina.
I wanted to see Ocarina.
I wanted a release date.
I got that.
When we were doing the pre-show and we were kind of doing the,
what else could they do and you start dreaming and talking about Winn-Waker?
You talk about that.
That's where it's like, okay, well, I don't think we necessarily deliver.
on that promise. I also think the
I would have maybe opened with the trailer
rather than end with the trailer because we had such a
cool deep dive into it which I love and appreciate
but I didn't
it didn't take my breath away. Like I jumped
into like holy shit this looks awesome and then we
delivered on all that. I had a great time with all of you
I enjoyed the presentation
but I don't think it was
I fainted from the excitement of it all.
Andy Cortez
I loved it
loved it loved it. I
it's just exactly what
we always wanted as a kid.
What I always wanted as a kid,
I think visually,
I'm just so blown away by what they were able to do here.
I love the look of everything.
I don't love just the over-fabriced hat.
And that's, like, really it.
See, I'm with you that.
That was my first reaction to it.
But then I was like, well, we didn't have pixels before.
And so I love that, like, again,
we're getting the same thing, but different.
What would it look like now?
Yeah, I just, I love the visual style of it all.
It reminds me so much of, you know, I don't know what engine it's running on necessarily,
but it looks very similar to the way a lot of the environments look in Metroid Prime 4,
and I thought those environments look super gorgeous.
I'm pumped.
I'm super excited for it.
Overall, still bummed that we didn't get any visual stuff about the movie.
That was like kind of a bummer.
Only getting the logo not, I don't think not, I think they should have just called this like
the Ocarina direct or something.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that would have been a better way to sell.
And we have some other surprises here and there, but nothing too big, because I just thought we'd get more movie news here.
I thought this would be more similar to how we got a lot more things announced during the Mario directs in the past, where it was like movie trailer and all sorts of other things.
I just wanted a movie trailer, honestly.
But yeah, this is exciting.
I can't wait.
I'm so stoked about, I'm so stoked to play this on a big screen TV and just be stoked about, you know,
revisit all these locations and hear the music again.
Tim.
Yeah,
I,
uh,
disappointed we didn't get a trailer,
not overly surprised just because of the Sony pictures of it all and where
they debut things and all of that.
Like it wasn't a surefire guarantee it was going to be here,
but I would have bet on it.
And so I am a little sad that it's not there,
uh,
interested in the lack of subtitle.
I like that,
uh,
Miaoto's trying to say that there's a reason for that.
And I'm like,
we'll see.
We'll see Mr.
Mamoto.
Um,
but I do wish that it had a subtitle because I feel like that.
shows a level of confidence in the identity of what the Legend of Zelda franchise is,
and it being a legend and it having all these different tales.
But, hey, even mentioning that they kept that in mind and that the sub-tattle has any thought in their mind,
I'm like, all right, cool, there's, I'm bought in, I'm not mad at it, and I do think that the
title treatment looked dope as hell.
So I still have utmost faith in this movie.
Can't wait to see more.
It being a 40th anniversary direct, gave me everything I want, some nostalgia and a symphony concert tour.
I don't really need anything else.
Going into this, we were talking about the, the what could bes.
And we all said, like, pretty much everything we brought up, we're like, yeah, but like, is the timing right for Wind Waker?
Is the timing right for Twilight Princess?
Like, we do not need those games right now.
I do want them.
I feel like the Switch in Switch 2 are incomplete, not having those games and them at the end showing all the Zelda games and not being every Zelda game.
What a missed opportunity.
We're so close, just cross the finish line and have all of these amazing titles over 40 years.
is available on your current system,
especially when the current system is the dream for me
that is the Nintendo Switch 2.
Seeing Ocarina, this presentation really didn't do it for me.
That trailer at the end did everything.
I was so obviously sold on this game.
I can't wait for this game.
I know what this game is,
and it's one of the best games of all time.
So all good there, but just the way they went into it,
I agree with Greg.
They should have started with that trailer.
And, you know, it's that classic Nintendo gameplay,
walk through stuff where I just don't think they're really good at it. I think that they do things
a little old school and it's kind of like, hey, we're watching a 40th anniversary direct for Zelda.
We know what a Zelda game is. You do not need to explain to us. And I understand people might
make the argument of like, oh, well, they set it up as if you've only played Breath of the Wild and Tears
of the Kingdom, let's introduce you to an old style of Zelda. I don't think they did that here.
Like they didn't talk about dungeons. They didn't talk about the things that I think actually
differentiate it. And there's a couple real bummers for me on the one-to-one. Like you're not going to
cut out the loading screens.
Really.
Weird.
Like,
very weird.
For the concept of Ocreen of Time,
kind of being this,
it felt like open world adventure back in the day to limit it into these zones.
It's like,
all right,
like this really,
this is less than I expected.
But again,
can't really hate on it because I do think that the overall world looks great.
I am fully with Andy that the hat,
and I think that the leaning into the threads and textures is a element that I don't think
Ocarina needed.
I think Ocarina has such a defined,
style to itself and when we get into castle the town um seeing the other characters and their
outfits and the way that their faces look i'm like oh this is this is this is ocarina remade but for
the main character to be this i think over designed because texture seemed to be the theme
i'm a little bummed out by it and i i compare it to the lynx awakening remake where i was
obsessed with the art style and the art style change with came with instrument changes and and like an overall
sonic vibe to it that it was different than the original, but still very much in tone to the heart
of it. Whereas this one is like, it's so one to one in a lot of ways. And then there's just kind
of threads on top of it, which when he stood next to the couple, I was like, they, they look
completely normal. Yeah. And they have, they don't have all that crazy detail that his hat does.
But I think that speaks to him being a forest boy, right? And coming out of the Kokiri forest, right?
And what they're, I, I look at it and go, oh, this is what that culture was inside that forest and why
they made it that way and people in Hyrule will look different.
I think it's the same reason when we get glimpses of adult link,
he doesn't have that texture in his hat because he is doing the adult
high rule outfit.
I'll think adult link look way better.
Like when we get to the big trailer and you see the glimpses of adult link,
that's where I was like, oh, okay, I'm good.
Like this is, this looks incredible.
I agree with Tim and Andy about like the design of low link.
I'm just saying like tune down that normal map a little bit.
Yeah.
That bumpy.
Yeah, I think the threads are doing a lot.
He looks wet.
Like when he went in the water,
in the beginning of the gameplay thing
and then he came out
and he went to the store
I was like oh wow he's still wet
and then he kept going
I'm like wow he's still wet
I'm like oh no he just looks wet
there's just a lot of shadows going on
a lot of darkness there from the bumps
oh I see what you're saying
well I mean he was definitely shiny in those scenes
but I don't think he always looks
wet
he's a wet little boy
this looks so damn good
yeah this was a great moment man
like this is I do think a major step up
from the pre-rendered backgrounds
of your just walking through some
God, this looks incredible.
Well-realized JPEGs.
Yeah, and you talking about the way that they show off the game during this whole section.
That's why I made the comment about this feels like this is how Greg talks to his four-year-old child.
Like, it's just, you see, yeah, you can do that.
You know, it just feels like, are you talking to adults?
Or like, these are people who have played video games before.
And I think it just feels like an oversimplification of, like, people watching this.
kind of know what a video game is.
So like,
I don't know.
I hear you.
I don't,
I don't,
I understand.
Yes,
I think it is a very Nintendo way as Tim did it.
I do think it's something you need to say though,
because I think it's interesting to us,
the old people I touch Mike who just played the game for the first time,
but if like there's a jump button now that does make us pop.
And then also I like a little history lesson of,
hey,
it didn't have that on N64.
And here you can spin the can.
I understand that like that's basic,
but I do think for us,
it makes sense.
as I watch and go, oh, cool, cool, cool.
And then the trailer itself sells that it's a new Zelda game.
And if you don't want to get into the minutia weeds of this, I don't know.
It's a tough one, I guess, when you're going back.
I didn't mind that.
It's that weird thing of, I know, a 40th Zelda anniversary direct is probably being watched by more adults.
Think about how many people have come in from breath and how many people have come in from TV.
I still view this is something that it is like, we're showing this to families.
We have to explain.
We have to explain this on the most basic level.
So I don't mind it.
It's also a thing where I'm like, we're choosing to watch.
this you know what I mean like I know what I'm getting when I'm watching Nintendo
Direct and this is the tone it's the over explanation and I'm okay with it
alright let's keep talking about Ocarina bless yes what else what what is the
like what what was the highlight of this for you I mean I think for me the I mean
the highlight was going into the town but also shout out the Decu Tree like I
think when we get more of the distinct visual elements that make
Ocarina Ocarina that's where this presentation truly
like even seeing Death Mountain in the background, right?
Like it's those elements where I'm like,
oh, that is so distinctly Ocarina
and you captured this.
I think those one part that like didn't concern me,
but it was kind of a reality check of,
okay, this is exactly what I wanted to be
and that's when Link first steps in the high real field.
And it kind of reminded me of the flat feeling
of the original game.
And I'm not mad at it because that just means
that this is going to be one for one,
which I expected and I understand why it is that.
And I think to a lot of extent it should be that.
but when we start to see those like
here's Cockcquery Forest
here's this location here's the town
Coquiri thank you
here's Decu Tree I think that's where I'm like
okay cool you guys captured this this looks really good
I also want to shout out all the ocarina stuff as well
is really cool yeah so silly that's that silly Nintendo stuff
that's the stuff I like why not man let's have some fun
and do some weird stuff
Andy what about you what was the highlight
um
I mean I definitely loved the silly
Ocarina stuff.
I love just including a weird
ass feature like that.
It doesn't need to be there, but it's certainly there.
I'd say my low light was all
of the app stuff. It's just such a
like, this is a lot of...
Shout out to employing people for working on this, though.
You know what I mean?
Because it just seems like a neat way
if you want to really, really dive in deep,
but it just seems like, wow, that's a lot of effort.
And I wonder the amount of people
actually utilizing all those features.
I'd say my highlights, though, are, I think, just mainly what it was doing visually.
I love The Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Art style, but I did not want that at all for this.
And then once we saw, you know, Link laying down in that first trailer, it's like, okay, good, we're not getting something like that.
And I think if you try to go halfway with that, then you get into a weird spot where it's like, well,
does that mean the other,
those other games have to then change their art style?
I love that this is just completely different.
It's just a different new vision for it.
And I would go the opposite where it,
I think I've seen enough of this video game in Unreal Engine 5
that I didn't get those vibes here.
And that's maybe just because I watched those so much.
And or even back when it was just Unreal Engine 4 or whatever.
I've seen just a shit ton of those videos,
and I love seeing that this still looks very Nintendo to me.
This still has art direction and people who know what looks good
stylistically and visually.
So I was just really blown away by the art style, not,
like, it kind of just hit all the marks that I was hoping for it to hit.
And yeah, that moment with a decou tree looks so freaking stunning.
Mike, what about you?
Highlight.
I mean, the highlights are the environments, right?
and just the world come to life
and all of us seeing that and reliving the moments
that we all cherish, right?
I mean, for me, it's the enemy designs.
There's a moment in that trailer
where they just start rapid firing off
all the enemies that you know and love
and you're like, man, seeing them in 2026
with this new art style change,
the new look of it all,
this decou baba, how cool it looks
with the venom-like tongue coming out of it
and just how the colors, the awesomeness of it all.
It's the visuals.
It really stands out.
Greg?
I mean, it's the,
game I had in my head
come to life. You know what I mean? When you go back
and look at this and especially having just as we can
jump back into Ocarina getting ready for this,
like, it's such a definitive
game in my gaming career
slash life to look at it now and be like,
man, like, I look at this and it
looks so whimsical. It looks so magical, right? It looks like what I think
the legend of Zelda always
looked like, always felt like.
And so to see that realized here is huge. I'm with
blessed. I think, you know, one of the big questions I've had
is, all right, cool, when you
actually walk into
Hyrule field on the 64 version,
it is laughable now to be like blown away by it
because you were blown away by it back in the day in 98.
But looking at how they did it here,
I'm with Bessieh,
like, all right, cool, yeah, this is how you one for one do this
and walk me into a small open zone,
but that looks big and looks real
and does look like I want to run out and explore it.
Like, I cannot wait to get my hands on this.
Yeah. Tim.
I was saying that the trailer is my highlight,
but specifically so many nods and moments in it
that are like, they know that the long-term 40-year fans are watching this,
but they got that one shot that looks straight out of that space world trailer.
And I think that really was them being like, hey, the dream's been realized.
Like, we're doing exactly what we've all dreamt would hopefully happen one day,
which is Ocarina looking how you kind of see it in your head.
And I think that a lot of the modernizations from control schemes that they seem to be adding here
are kind of what I want, but it's still Ocarina of Time.
Like they're not changing too much.
And when we've seen so many different concepts of remakes, remasters, like, re-imagininges, all of it, like, there's a world where I could have wanted something that's a bit more Resident Evil 2 remake, where it is the spirits there, but it is a different game, you know, mainly because we've played this game so many times.
A lot of us have.
And it's like just the idea of wanting something new.
But I think that the safe and correct answer is this, which is,
Like I've been saying, Paper Mario 1000 Year Door remake,
where we are just remaking the game
and making it accessible to even more people,
but keeping the entire thing that made one of the greatest games of all time,
one of the greatest games of all time there.
Looking at the HUD, I got some questions.
Like, looking at this top right,
like they seem to be using some type of version
of the Breath of the Wild Tears of the Kingdom item system.
Yeah, you hold it and then go off the little bit.
Which is just like, debatably the worst thing about those games.
so I'm like, it's an interesting thing for them to go with.
But I do think it's me, I think, simplified in this game.
That's my thing, right?
You have so many, so fewer things to pick up that really when I was like,
I just had this like laundry list in breath and tears,
whereas I think here, it's like, okay,
this is like more of a quick select in a way that makes sense.
But there isn't, there's not,
there's enough items that I feel like this is going to be potentially annoying.
And I also don't think that there's too much like Breath of Wild and Tears of the Kingdom
that it's going to be that big of an issue.
but until I actually playing it,
I'm looking at this and I'm not sold on the concept.
Yeah,
I feel like going away from the just multi-buttons doing different things.
Like,
I don't know that that was a change that needed to happen,
but maybe it's better.
And hey,
they're the ones making the game and I trust them.
Why are we so,
you know,
hesitant to not put in a weapon wheel or just like,
well,
that's what I was going to say.
Is it not going to be an item wheel?
I know if we saw them out of them.
No, they showed it.
They were like,
it's just like the thing from tears.
Oh,
yeah,
it kind of like slides to the left to the right.
But I, yeah, I do, I think it would be a lot easier and more.
I think at this point.
More accessible to go like between all your different arrows or whatever.
I think at this point, if you're Nintendo and you're making this,
you're obviously making for two people, old heads like us,
but then also all the new Zelda fans.
And so if you're bringing in new Zelda fans,
a new generation, let's say, of Zelda fans,
I think you want it to feel as familiar as possible.
And they, after two games, selecting weapons that way.
With echoes of wisdom did it too.
Yeah, it was horrible.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think you do it like that.
You're like, this is what a Zelda game is.
No.
Music and everything sounds so great.
Yeah, man.
And again, very faithful.
They're not adding to it.
It's like these were the sounds that were there,
but they're just orchestrated now,
which is awesome because we don't need to mess
with the soundtrack of Ocarina.
Is there anything that you didn't love, bless?
I mean, I feel like I already talked about
what I didn't love.
And I, you know, again, we're why.
we have the trailer on replay, so I think I'm identifying more and more of like maybe why I feel
that way. I think maybe it is kind of what you guys touched on with like the threads of
Young Link and maybe that feeling a little bit over designed and the lighting and all that stuff.
But like honestly, aside from that, I'm all the way in. I think I'm, I'm kind of very happy with
this direction of it. Like when I, earlier on, when I mentioned, I think it's going to be what Star Fox
remake is. This is kind of what I meant. Like, this is just Ocarina at a time. This is a game that I don't
thing is going to surprise surprise me at any moment because I know what the story is.
I know what the puzzles are.
I know what happens here.
And I'm excited to re-experience it in a way that is very modernized.
And so like, I'm pretty much happy for the most part with this thing.
I don't have too many complaints.
Anyone else have any?
I mean, I'm with you, Tim, that the loading screens shouldn't be there.
I don't know what kind of weird cop out that is.
Oh, we wanted to preserve what, no.
We know.
It's 2026.
Let me walk into the city without there being a load screen,
Unless the Switch 2 can't handle that, you know what I mean?
Like, don't give you a weird answer.
I would rather than just not address it.
I think for me that's one of the things I don't mind as well.
Like as long as it's not, it's actually loading and we're actually waiting five to ten seconds.
As long as it's like a fade out, fade in sort of thing, I personally, it might be crazy.
I like the preservation of, well, that's how the original games were.
We're trying to still keep these areas separated.
Because for me, that kind of veers into the changing it kind of scenario.
But the thing there is, like, they weren't separated.
They were only separated because there was a loading screen.
Sure.
Like, like, the Hyrule Field essentially just has hallways leading out of it, right?
It's just like, I don't know, we've spent many years at this point talking about what
Ocarina remake could be.
And I think even just since it's been officially, or not officially, unfficially rumored,
but we believed it to being officially announced in us talking about what we want to see.
I do think the, like, getting rid of the loading screens was like very high on my, like,
yeah, that has to happen list.
And I'm surprised that it's not.
So not a game ruiner.
Like, it is what it is.
But for them to change the town, it's like, all right, well, they're not sticking
fully to what the original game was.
So you can fix some things.
And that grass looks so good, dude.
Holy shit.
I love that depth of field that happens as soon as you get that zoom in for the
Ocarina moment.
Like, this visually looks so damn good.
This is so impressive.
I think, honestly, the thing I may be like the most about all of this, and I love a lot
of it, I think the...
cover art and the key art for this looks so freaking cool.
I think they nailed his hair.
Yeah, I think that's a very important thing is like,
Ocarino-Links hair is like he has that Sean Hunter Boy Meets World,
like, you know, middle part and they just, they nailed it.
So good for them.
Seeing all the different colored tunics, I'm like, oh yeah, that's how they should look.
No hints of a new dungeon.
Andy, do you think that there's any chance of something like that?
No, not anymore.
I was hoping we'd get more.
I was hoping that when we ran out here,
Aounuma would have been like,
and you'll notice there's some new things we add it.
You know, like nothing crazy,
but maybe there's a little NPC's house here.
A little thing there or whatever.
But yeah, unfortunately not.
Honestly, another cool thing that I loved,
just the look of chic.
Oh, she looks so cool.
That's so cool.
She looked freaking awesome.
Give me an amoebo with that.
Yeah, the amoebo.
All the extra stuff.
They showed a lot of things.
There was a Lego that we hadn't seen before.
I've been peppering into the dock a bunch of different things
from the press release and a few more details.
I like this one,
and I'll get to your Legos in a second, though.
Also, keep an eye out for two ocarinas later this year.
A playable version for the musically inclined,

And we are back.
They started this thing off with the Zelda movie talk.
Very, very light.
But we know it is going to be called Legend of Zelda.
It's coming April 30th, 2027.
A date that was delayed and then pushed up.
Yeah.
It's the whole thing.
But it is going to hit on April 30th.
Didn't see too much there.
Is there anything to add, boys?
When and where do we see it then, Tim?
I don't know.
I mean, we're...
What is the big highlight spot of this?
Where?
I mean, movie trailers don't tend to have highlight spots, right?
Pretty big deal, though.
I mean, it's the thing.
It's like, it's no...
Game awards?
So, maybe game awards, but I think it's more likely it just drops.
Super Bowl in February.
That's too late.
Like, I'm surprised we didn't get it today.
The movie's in April.
That's why I'm like, when do we get it, Tim?
Because, yeah, it's September now.
I am surprised we didn't get something now,
but we have three months until the end of the year.
They're like a big Sony movie
that's coming out in the next three months.
Um,
I mean,
yeah,
the previous just came out.
Yeah,
I don't know.
The no,
Resident Evil.
I mean,
I mean,
that's fine place.
That would be a fine place,
yeah.
The no subtitle thing,
all I got from that was that they are,
like,
fuck what you know about.
anything. Like this is going to be for new people who don't have to worry about our very messy
canon right. Like our weird timeline that even we are kind of figuring out as we put out new art
books or whatever. To me that just read that like we're starting a whole new thing here.
Like not that the games are going to follow this but this will be the movie will be its own thing
and we're going to pull in references from everything. It'll be very Mario
like where Mario just has
a mishmash of a bunch of different references
throughout the games. This will be its own
single contained story, but
it will have stuff that they
liked from
Major's Mask and
Aquarina and stuff from
Link's Awakening and Link to the past. Like
whatever the best elements they feel could
contribute to the story, I think that we're going to see
it here. I think it'll be
less so than Mario, obviously because
when you have like a serious live action tone
versus like an animated thing, you know,
able to throw more into the pot there, but I think I, the way they talked about like, oh,
we have the Triforce and courage and wisdom and the focus on that makes me think that they want
to start off with such a brown floor baseline like foundation for what Zelda is before we get
weird with Zelda because when we think of the subtitled Zelda things, Okarina is very specifically
about something, right? Link to the Pass is about something. Twilight Princess is about something.
I think being able to go, hey, this is Link, this is Zelda, this is Gainendorf, there's a Triforce,
and Link is on an adventure with a Master Sword.
I think there's enough elements there to establish in a first movie, and then you have
sequel titles where you can actually do crazy time travel shit or do, you know, turn him into a wolf
or whatever you want to do.
Yeah, I think we'll, like, I think we will get a more baseline story like you were just
mentioning that's pretty straightforward
and it might seem
way more reminiscent of
something like, you know, the
first Zelda of just the guys
trying to save this kidnap, princess or whatever.
And there's some dungeons. Yeah, but
we will see like a couple of
NPCs that maybe serve the story good here
but that NPCs from like
sure, wow, they're pulling that MPC from that
from you know, Minish Cap, how
odd, right? Like I feel like we will have
moments like that in the movie. Yeah.
I still have the utmost faith in the
I can't wait.
Yeah.
I hate that we're still here, not having a trailer.
I did think that Bless was gonna be able to see it
and have some of his worries
assuaded from it.
I mean, it just being called Legend Zelda
does help me with some of my worries
because it gives me a clearer vision on,
okay, yeah, you guys are just,
you're making it basic, which I'm down for.
You know, I think I get more worried
when you try to make a more complicated
live action Zelda movie,
but this does help me a little bit.
Then we move on to the Nintendo Museum.
September 9th, the Zelda ticket design is gonna start.
There's a new history board.
You can check out the Master Sword photo ops coming in November 5th.
The Super Family Restaurants opening in the fall.
Let's go, guys.
I can't wait to go.
Let's go.
Everyone that went, they're just like, dude, like the videos and pictures don't do it justice.
Like, there's just so much cool stuff there and so much cool stuff to buy those giant controllers stuffed animals.
Hell yeah.
Special effect T-shirts.
Yep.
Projects.
O-led.
Then a whole bunch of other stuff, we just kind of tossed through.
We had PR saying keep an eye out for the two ocarinas like Greg was talking.
about the Lego and then the electronic master sword.
It's 27 inches long with more than 15 touch and motion-activated sounds arriving in spring
2027.
Real quick, Kevin, can you rewind back just to the Super Family Restaurant, please?
It kind of sounded like a little Tony Stark there.
Jarvis.
Jarvis, can you go back to the Super Family Restaurant?
Thank you, Jarvis.
I think it kind of looks like shit.
Oh, I thought it was elegant and nice and easy for a museum.
It looked nice.
The restaurant, you got to, like, you can't just put up a statue that looks so out of place.
Like, either you make it look like the Princess Peach restaurant at Disney or at, you know,
Nintendo Land or whatever, or like, you make it.
This looks great.
It's got to be more Nintendo themed.
You just can't have just random statues here.
But I mean, like right now.
It looked like they left it there like, hey, we got to, we got to come back and get this.
Right now we're looking at it.
at either a rendering or a non-working
version of the restaurant. I mean, when you're there
and there's Nintendo fucking shit on the...
There's plates that have tri-forces on them and also
other crap. Like, that's where it's going to sing. Not to
mention every moron walking in there with their giant
Nintendo bag and all the shit, they...
They're fucking stuff controllers. Tim's over there.
We'll let the audience be the said dressing.
I just think you want Disneyland.
You leave it more basic so that they
fill it in with whatever.
It's uninspired to me. That guy's
just for him. Look some cool shit on the walls, you know.
And then we're getting an orchestra tour.
I mean, you're in the museum.
The cool shit on the walls is all around you.
I mean, it just looks like.
It's a break for your eyes.
Like, here.
Hey, we got a P.F. Chang's a week.
Put up a statue.
Are any of you going to buy any of the things?
Oh, yeah.
We'll get the alcharina.
Yeah.
No.
Fuck yeah, buying an ocarina.
Hey, Ben, here you go.
Play daddy a song and I'll dance around the house doing it.
Play daddy a song.
You're out.
No, bless.
No.
I'm going to do that.
I'm going to get that store for Ben to.
I wish they just sold a Lego minifigs.
Like I always like, I'm always being annoying about, I just want the mini figs.
But like, I will say this, link onipona is the least offended I've been about a.
The proportions.
Yeah.
Whenever we see any of the Pokemon stuff, I'm like, I don't like the way that looks bad.
This is like, I think the best looking version of it.
To be clear, if I had more space in my home, I would get the thing.
But I just, yeah, I have a San Francisco apartment, so.
Andy, I think a lot of that is because of we're used to seeing a polygonal versions of this link and opponent.
So I think that the kind of like, maybe.
Yeah, maybe.
Just because, yeah, like so many of that style of Lego, I'm just like, no, thank you.
Yeah, the Pikachu is offensive.
It's offensive.
Yeah.
It's very quasi one.
I'm like, what are you all doing with this shit?
Mutu.
They made Mutu look not cool.
Come on.
That's hard to do.
You got to make Mutu with like a connects, though.
Like, don't bring connects up.
Get a mute two monocle.
We don't do that here, Andy.
or no, Technic or whatever
Lego sectica?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
No, not in this house.
Give me a bionical mute too, you know.
Yeah.
We got the Japan tour kicking off in Tokyo next January
and a North American tour starting in Chicago next February.
Europe tour begins in London next April and Australian tour in Melbourne next May.
Locations dates and other info.
Visit Zalditgameconcerts.com later today.
Oh, cool.
So we're going to get more info on.
There will be one around here.
I keep a refreshing for you, Tim.
It's still a lot up yet.
Okay, we will be here for sure.
I'm so sad I miss out in the last ones,
but it's going to be so damn good here
in tears of the kingdom's theme. Are you kidding me?
Oh, yeah, I can't wait.
That saxophone's about to pop off.
Then we got the whole Ocarina breakdown,
which we kind of went through everything already,
but looking through these notes here,
the first print run of the physical version
will commemorate the release with special packaging
that features textured foil cover art
available while supplies last.
And I will say maybe all the texture shit's worth it
just so we get this.
Very cool.
Awesome.
and I will be buying this.
You know, it's really cool
is if we time it right, Tim,
and we go down to the Nintendo store
and we need to,
they'll have that print in foil
that we can put up on our walls.
How about you put that up
in the super family restaurant?
Jesus.
Some more stuff up there.
I feel like you're thinking
of like a theme park restaurant
and not a museum restaurant.
It's a museum.
But to Andy's point,
links there.
It's like,
it's his anniversary.
It's his birthday.
Let it be there.
A fucking weird statue.
in the middle of the room.
I think they should take link out before they put more things in.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Okay, we're on the same page.
We're on the same page.
Put them in the hallway.
Put them outside the door.
Make it more tame, you know.
You know, just put some weird little like subtle and engravings in the life.
You're going to be a grilled cheese.
That looks like a tri-force.
Like, there's going to be more going on.
I don't think you are.
I don't think you'll get spaghetti ragu in it.
I don't think you're going to get a rotissory chicken by the, how basic this place looks.
You're not getting a tri-forced grilled cheese.
It looks so big.
Big pizza bet.
There will be a try for something or other on that menu.
Yeah,
I'll be the bet that.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Yeah.
It'll be a tri-forge cookie.
Thank you.
We don't need you like Jesus.
These guys.
That's a lovely museum.
No creativity.
No, man.
Basic as hell.
You're going to get an egg sandwich.
Normal shaped.
Great.
Did you have any luck finding the...
No.
Okay, cool.
Well, I'm going to send this to assets.
I don't know the origins of this, but I'm seeing it from Gamescages tweet.
And it looks legit.
So I need somebody to help me out there.
because I'm trying to find this render of adult link.
God, because we only saw him kind of in the trailer.
80 looks at that, he goes, oh, it's too basic.
Why not put the Dekoo tree in the background,
have Zelda fucking doing a kickflip with the background.
You know I'm right.
I don't know that you're right.
I like how it looks, God damn it.
Yeah, so here we have adult link,
with a little closer look at all the accoutrements going.
on.
I like it.
This is the render of the character?
I mean, that's what it looks like, but yeah, I get,
I just don't know the origin of this.
I thought this is a bigger.
Oh, it's from the official Zelda Twitter.
Let's see.
Yeah.
Tim's on, he's researching.
He's finding it.
I think it looks great.
Does he young have ink, ear piercings?
You see young.
You got to be 18.
Is him at Eclares.
Go to a close.
I have a parent and guardian in this one.
while eating a fucking
like Antianns pretzel
well Tim gets that pulled up
is anybody going to buy the Switch 2
Zelda Switch 2? It looks
great but it looks fantastic
maybe if they just sell the Joycons
yeah yeah what is they ever
did that for
the tiers of the kingdom switch though right
I don't think so because yeah we have
we have that kicking around the house right now
Tim's still researching yeah I don't know what's going on
I can't find Zelda's Twitter for some reason
but I did find the pictures I'm looking
for us. So Kev, sending this to assets.
We got some renders
in the actual old school
Aquino of Time poses, which is very,
very cool. I'm excited for you guys to see
this. Okay.
Look at that little.
He's just a little dude, man.
Oh,
that's the one, everybody.
Oh, man.
Oh, that too. The Aquino Time 3D.
Yeah, exciting times.
Indeed.
That pose is so.
good. November
5th, they'll be here before you know it, Tim. Yeah, November
5th. I guess that's something we haven't fully talked about.
I love it. That's early than I even
expected. I thought the earliest would get it was the 12th.
I thought if they were crazy, it'd be the 19th.
I thought there was even a chance to be
the week after because it would match the
30th anniversary of Ocarine of Time coming out.
But the 5th is like, oh
they're going to own that shit. No one's even there.
Did they say if the joycons are sold separately
or is that only for the way? That's what we're talking about. No,
right now they're not saying that. And I don't think they will, because
they didn't do that with the last one.
That sucks.
I just want the joycons.
But it's okay.
I don't need them.
You don't need them.
But this is the 40th anniversary, Tim.
Yeah.
Never been a better way to celebrate.
Any final thoughts on Legend of Zelda?
40th?
Ocarina, movie.
Anything?
Legos?
Can't wait.
Museum.
Yeah, it looked great.
Very basic.
Straight to the point.
We knew what we got.
And I'll take that.
I'm excited.
Are you guys,
this might be a crazy question.
Are you guys all playing it?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
This is my Zeld.
you know what I mean?
Like this is as hyped as I could be
for a remake of a Zelda game.
Oh yeah.
Getting to the super chats here.
Hero of Time says,
as someone whose entire online persona revolves around Zelda,
this looked exactly how I dreamed.
I'm so stoked to play this in November.
Glad nothing else majors coming out that month.
I'm Spartica says,
Ocreen Time looks amazing,
but this felt less like a 40-year Zelda party
and instead felt like an excuse to push consumerism.
Sad we didn't even get the Twilight Princess GameCube edition for Switch online.
Anthony says,
do we get Majores Mask remake next?
Maybe.
I didn't think we would have got it on 3DS and we did.
So there is a chance, but I
doubt it.
You don't think they're going to go through and like slowly
remake all of them in the style?
I mean, the fact that they haven't went
back after Link's Awakening and done
like Oracle and seasons and ages yet,
like there's not
precedent that they're going to, you know?
But also I don't, like,
they did the work here. So it's like
they could.
uh ziggie says excited for the remake as someone who couldn't handle the n64 jank i wish they showed the movie trailer
me too i could see then going back and like if i had to put money on it right now
grezo's working on link to the past remake yeah i'd probably put money on it right now i would think
they would be i'm a bedin man he's a betton man yeah and i don't know if i don't know if i don't know
if the oracle games i love them i don't think they have like that level of juice uh
I don't know.
It would be awesome, though.
It would be really cool.
Because I think that, what, when they finish Links Awakening remake, Grezo probably started on Echoes.
I know there's, like, a lot of time in between, but.
Yeah, that's my only thing is I wonder, I mean, Echoes did okay, but Echoes also very clearly was a weird spinoff for them.
But it was an original game.
So I just, I don't know if Grosel's going to go back to remakes.
I think it would be a wise call to remake Link to the past.
Like, I think that is the move.
but fingers crossed.
Then we got lifeless FTW saying,
I do wonder if they'll add in components
and difficulty from the Master Quest version
or keep it strictly the original.
Yeah, I don't know.
It'd be weird not to, but it's Nintendo,
so I wouldn't expect anything.
Then they can do master version of this.
And the Adrian says,
fuck yeah, always excellent work, gentlemen.
Thank you so much for waking up early with us
as we reacted to the Zelda 40th Nintendo Direct.
tomorrow we'll be right back here same exact time reacting to the general Nintendo
Directors we still have now 40 minutes of Nintendo announcements are you excited for that
I'm incredibly excited okay it's it is now though at the point of just like
the conversations going on online about things that might be there it's just
reached a level of like oh well damn this is either going to be the greatest
direct of all time or disappointing just not disappointing but just like
Disappointment from hype level
Yeah, yeah, of course.
Because, like, they're talking about literally, like,
Tim Dream, uh, direct.
So, and it's less about the direct.
It'd be more about, like, the rollout of, from
Ocarina throughout next year's.
I didn't know that was the vibe, Andy Porte.
Now I'm a little excited, Tim.
I mean, now you know what you shouldn't be, though.
I was coming in going, man, we're going to be here at 6.30 a.m.
And we're going to have that face on at 720.
Like, what the fuck, yeah.
They're seeing things online.
The something they're saying online about what's going to be in this direct has
me like, man, I wish I didn't read any of that.
Because now my hype is like,
don't read it, don't read it.
Okay.
Mike, just to let you know,
we will get all that stuff too.
We might get the stuff I'm talking about,
but we will get a lot of the stuff
that's going to make us go home.
Oh, my God.
Here we are.
Oh, okay, gotcha, got you.
Zachson and Galaxi and I had a super chat, Tim,
which is kind of similar to what we were talking about
with the control scheme.
They had a $20 super chat saying
how the equipped items going from three to one,
switching the control scheme sort of thing.
I kind of agree with him.
I would have loved to just have seen a different take on it,
but it's people who have played those recent Zelda games
kind of know what to expect there.
Let us know in the comments what you thought of Ocarina of Time,
how excited you are to play it for the 100th time
or for the very first time.
Is this your first time?
All right, watching this, have you not played before?
Now you're like, this is the time I'm jumping in.
That's what I want to know.
There's never been a better time.
Let us know.
Until next time.
I love you all.
Goodbye.
