Hello, gamers. Welcome to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Tuesday, August 18th,
2026.
Not February.
Not February.
Which, as I was making this document, I was typing out the date.
And for some reason, my mind was like, it's February.
I don't know why.
I'm a big fan of February.
It's my birthday month, you know.
I was going to say Black History Month.
Yeah, your birthday can go first.
Yeah.
You know, who could forget?
Who can forget?
We know when it comes to February.
He goes, Indy's birthday, the Valentine's Day,
and at the very bottom, apparently, it's Black History Months.
Yeah.
Fucking show some respect.
I think they go hand in hand.
You know what I mean?
We've got to celebrate both.
You know what I mean?
There's two things.
I'll be brave enough, but I'll say that they're both.
equally important.
I love that.
I love that for you.
Absolutely.
I'm one of your host,
Andy Cortez,
and I'm joined alongside
Blessing Adioje Jr.
Good day, Andy.
How's it going?
It's going great so far.
Are you feeling better?
Yeah.
I'm also feeling better.
I mean,
I was always feeling like
good enough to do shit.
You know, it was more of just like,
you know, I will say,
though near the end of yesterday,
I was like, ooh, I'm,
the meds are wearing off.
But this morning I feel a lot better,
except for the fact
I wanted to vomit.
We'll talk about that later.
Oh, you wanted to?
We don't have to talk about it, yeah.
Oh, no.
Just the whole thing.
I was concerned yesterday because, like, like I mentioned, I think on yesterday's episode
that I was sick over the weekend.
Like, I had traveled.
I had gotten back in like the day after fell sick and then felt better on Sunday.
And then Monday I woke up and I was like, man, my throat is hurting again.
What's going on here?
And toward the end of yesterday, I was like, man, I got a flight.
I'm traveling again today.
So I'm like...
Really?
Yeah.
And so it's on the schedule.
I'm leaving it like shit.
And so I was like, man, I don't want to be sick and travel.
Like, like, depending on how sick I feel, I'll probably have to cancel or whatever.
Yeah.
I feel great today.
Nice.
I feel free.
Everybody get over for bless.
The shackles have been lifted.
Wow.
Everybody go to help me.
So now I'm going to go on an airplane and probably lick all the seats and then get sick again.
Maybe just mask up.
Maybe.
Maybe.
But I was like, I was trying to do everything right this last time.
I was drinking all the vitamin C.
You weren't touching your face.
I had an emergency.
It wasn't, it was an extended travel, though.
I can't say where I was, but I was gone for a little bit.
Did you shake hands and then grab an hors d'oeuvre?
Not an hors d'oeuvre.
I don't think there were any hors d'oeuvre.
Did you high-five somebody and then grab a little mozzarella cheese stick or whatever
when the waiter walked up to you, would you like mozzarella cheesecake?
You'd say, yes, I would.
No, there weren't, no.
But there was a lot of late-night drinking, and I think that'll do it.
Alcohol will weaken the immune system and also not getting proper sleep.
Oh, my gosh, yeah.
All of that is just a.
perfect concoction for your immune system going, hey, you haven't put in the work, so neither
am I.
Now, did I do late night drinking like four to five days in a row?
Damn.
Damn.
Take care of your bodies when you travel, everybody.
I want you all to go into the comments and type in, where do you think blessing went?
Where do you think I went?
I will say there's exactly one kind of funny best friend who knows for sure where I went,
because he saw me.
He was like, are you blessing?
That's awesome.
Yeah, and I was like, damn, out of all the places.
That's awesome.
I didn't think you would recognize me here.
That's pretty rad.
Everybody, yeah, type in the comments.
Let us know where you think blessing went.
Where in the world is blessing at Ealia.
And maybe we'll talk about it.
Maybe we won't.
I fucking plugged in my earbuds.
What is wrong with you right now?
I plugged in the case because I was like, oh, I got to get on my flay after this.
And so I plugged in the case because I was like, I'll charge the earbuds.
They're in my fucking pocket.
They're not in the case.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Let's do that.
Also, Kevin, if we can get the updated YouTube chat out here, that would be lovely.
We're doing a little double feature today.
A tofer.
Yeah, a little tofer.
Huh?
Tofer.
This is a lot of TikToks about this kid named Tofer a couple years ago.
I thought they were very fun.
I remember.
I remember you talking about this.
He's a little weird kid, right?
I remember this kid.
Yeah, I do remember.
My name's Tofer.
Marvel, Tocoon Fighting Souls.
A game, if I could be honest, I've heard Blufer.
Lessing talk about 19 times.
And a lot of them have been me
asking you directly. So I'm just going to
let's pretend I don't know.
I want to be asking a lot of questions for the chat.
Okay. This is the Tots section.
I mean, have you heard me talk about this?
Tats, Tots, Tots. Did we already shout out our
producers and stuff? No, not yet.
Okay. No, not yet.
Are we going to? We're just going to
ignore them.
I'll think about it. Okay, bet, bet.
Kevin Lass of the store over there.
We couldn't do this with that.
producers on pageot.com
forward slash kind of funny. So thank you to
Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster,
Delaney, the Somme, Twining,
and Lax Nomad.
Let's begin with what is
TavaGo of the show.
Marvel Tocco and Fighting Souls.
Assemble your team of legendary Marvel
characters in the ultimate 4V4
tag team fighter from PlayStation
Studios, Arc SystemWorks, and
Marvel Games. Time to build
your dream team. Break some spirits and
blistering 4-4 fighting action
choose from an expanding roster of 20
iconic Marvel characters at launch.
We got to hear so much Mike's thoughts last week.
Oh, what did he think?
He had a good time with it, aside from the fact that, like,
we're not the fighting game dudes, right?
But aside from all that,
sounded like there was a lot of enjoyment from his part.
You know, him learning the meta,
him finding out that everybody was gravitating towards magic, I believe.
Oh, man.
And I can see that.
And I'm blinking.
I feel like Blade has been a popular one.
I thought it was magic in somebody else.
I forget exactly who it was.
But I'm gravitating towards Doom.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I mean, he's getting buffed.
I guarantee you, Fige's over there.
Like, we got to buff.
Turn up, yeah, turn up.
Come on.
We got to buff Doom.
So how much time have you had with Marvel Tocoon?
And it's a weird question asked because there's been a lot of betas and weird shit like that.
If I lump in my beta time, probably somewhere around 17 to 18 hours, I imagine, maybe more.
But if I don't lump in my beta time, then probably around like 12 hours.
Lower than what I would like and not to give excuses, a big part of it was that I was traveling.
One, they didn't send out early review copies for this game.
And then is that largely due to, I don't know, to servers and wanting people to.
If I had to guess and assume, I'll probably say,
probably because of online, they probably want everybody to play together,
before they review it.
But I don't know for sure.
But yeah, no early review copies.
And then launch came through and I was out of town.
And I was out of town for like five days.
So I only started playing this game like last Wednesday or Thursday.
And so, yeah, since then I put in about 12 hours.
I played through all the single player story content,
100% of all the different routes that you can do in the
story, which I'll talk about later. And then I've been playing a lot of online. And I've been in the
practice mode, just messing around with characters and stuff like that. I'll be honest, like,
my review, if you're looking for the hardcore fighting gamer review, because I know around these
parts I'm known as Fighting Game Poppy, I am good. This is going to be not a great review from like
the expert angle. This is also going to be me playing this game. I won't say casually, but
not as hardcore as a Maximilian dude. You know what I mean? But I'm giving my black
perspective on it. And I say that, to say that, like, I'm enjoying this game a lot. I think this
game is fantastic. As of now, I would say this game is around a nine out of ten. If I'm going to give
a score. Yeah, fantastic fighting game. And there's so many different parts of it that I can talk about
as far as why it's fantastic. For me personally, on a very personal level, I don't know if I'm going to
play this as much as a Tekken or Street Fighter 6 or a guilty year strive. And I think a big part
of that is just the kind of fighting game that it is.
I'm not the biggest tag fighter
person because you read
through the description, but for those who don't know,
this is a 4v4
fighting game, right? This is a Marvel fighting game.
Very akin to the classic
Marvel versus Capcom games, except
it's not made by Capcom, it's not the Capcom characters,
right? It's just a Marvel fighter. But you
are fighting in teams of
four, you're tagging in and out.
One very unique feature, in fact
maybe the most unique feature in this game is the fact that
You're all, your team is sharing one health bar.
And so if I'm playing as Miss Marvel and I switch out to Spider-Man,
my health bar stays the same.
Kind of similar to you're not,
you're not reserving health bars for other heroes or whatever.
Exactly.
It's not like, oh, I got to get down.
I got to defeat all the heroes individually,
like in Marvel versus Capcom.
It's like, no, you're sharing a health bar between rounds,
which at first when I was playing the betas,
I didn't know how I felt about it.
Now that I'm playing the final thing,
I really like it, mainly because four characters on a team is a lot.
And it's both a lot to learn as far as it's really tough to main four different characters.
But then also, if you're taking down health bars of four different characters, those would be long rounds.
This would last forever as far as like how long the sets would be.
So I think they made the right decision there.
I also like the four team set or the four character setup.
And I like it from the story.
perspective, which is a weird one to bring in because usually when we're talking about fighting
aims, you're talking about the mechanics, you're talking about the competitive style of it.
However, Marvel Tocon Fighting Souls sets itself up narratively in a very interesting way.
I'm not going to spoil much of the story.
The stories are not that long.
They're not even that deep per se.
But the way they set it up in the story is very much like there is a planet destroying threat
that's coming through.
Champion is coming through.
If you've read Marvel Comics, I'm new to champion.
I wasn't really familiar with champion.
I don't know if you know a champion.
No, I have no idea.
He's basically like another Thanos.
You know what I mean?
Okay.
A dude that's coming in that is eating planets essentially.
Okay.
He is more on the cosmic side of power.
Okay.
Yeah, he's coming through and he's like,
yo, send your best to fight me is his whole thing.
And like if you lose, then fucking, we're destroying your planet.
And the way they, he also has like an assistant lady.
Who was named? I forget.
Chad, remind me her name.
But basically, they come through.
She's just like his secretary?
Yeah, I guess.
Literally, yeah.
Awesome.
But she's the one who comes in first,
and she's like, I'm a war in y'all.
Like, this is what's about to happen.
Like, very galactic and fantastic four.
How's the presentation for the,
oh, great.
For these moments.
Like, the cutscenes are cool shit?
It's great.
So it's a mixture between cutscenes and the cutscenes look fantastic.
They kind of have an anime.
sort of vibe to them.
Okay.
And then most of it are like comic book, I would say,
visual novel-esque,
where you're working away through these comic panels,
but they're all kind of like animated in fun ways.
They're not just static,
and you're hearing more of the voice lines
and a voice acting carry you through the action of the story,
but it's very like, you know,
you're watching a thing, watching like a page play out.
And both, I think, are really great.
I like the comic book stuff because it is Marvel.
And so it feels at home and they're very well done.
When you go, Kevin, I don't know if there's a way to find my,
I don't know how, maybe I'll find it and send it to you.
Because maybe two streams before this, I did, I played some of the story.
And it's presented really well where you go to like the episode menu and it's five different stories.
The five stories are divided by the teams in the stories because each story is get individual teams like perspective.
in that saga of champion coming through
and then them forming their teams.
And is it the teams
that they were kind of releasing them
in order with or whatever?
Yeah, kind of, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
In the trailers, when they were talking about the characters.
And so right now, Kevin is playing a cutscene
how this looks.
This is like when it's doing the anime-style cutting stuff.
Was that champion?
This guy's champion.
Okay.
Yeah, so it kicks off and he's destroying a planet.
Okay, exactly.
He's challenging a planet.
But you go there, you go to the menu for episode,
and you see the five episodes,
and they're framed like they're comic books.
And so each of the stories
have their own individual illustrators
and like comic book artists.
Oh, neat.
That did that story.
And so it feels like you're going to a comic book store
and being like, oh, I want to read this one.
Oh, no, I want to read this one.
And it is, all right, here's the Fighting Avengers story.
And so you're getting Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk,
and Black Panther.
All right, no, I want to do the,
like there's a villain story
like I forget the name of the team
but it's the Doom led team
so it's like all right
now it's doom and carnage
and Green Goblin and Magneto
and you're getting them assembling
that team and then getting into
these fights
I think this mode
is so expertly done
not my favorite final game story mode
by any means but like
for what they're doing here
it's great I wish there was a bit more content to it
I wish even
it was a bit more
more variance because once you've played one story, you can predict exactly how the other
stories are going to go because they all kind of, they're formatted in a way where they have to
converge and they have to be like, all right, the first three chapters are the team getting
together. The next few chapters are the teams meeting the other teams and finding the other teams,
and then the last few chapters are you dealing with like the wrap-up of the whole thing.
Very formulaic once you play one of them. By how long?
No more than an hour, I'd say. Probably about an hour per story at most.
But regardless, very fun.
And to make my way back to the four character thing,
the way they present it in the story is like
when Champion goes to each of the planets,
depending on the culture of planet that he's on,
that's how they decide the teams
or the number of people allowed on a team.
And so, like, Champion will go to one planet
and it's like they send hundreds of people
because when they go to war, it's hundreds of people.
On Earth, because of the nature of superheroes
in their team-ups,
it's kind of based on the Fantastic Four.
Like they reference the Fantastic Four
in the first couple episodes of the story
going, when y'all started
the superhero journey, y'all have four heroes
that kind of like establish the tone.
And so you guys are going to face champion
in teams of four.
Because when you think about it, it's like the Avengers
is four people.
Yeah.
This team is four people.
We've got the sword team of like Blade and Magic.
Yeah, or like the Midnight Suns or whatever.
And it's like, wow, I really like that story
justification.
I think that's really cool.
And then when you play the game, it's like,
okay, cool.
I think there's a lot of fun stuff we're able to do with a four-player or four-character fighting game team.
But yeah, I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Outside of you, even the story as I'm playing ranked, the presentation of this game is so beautiful.
I'm a big fan of Arxis when it comes to a game like Guilty Gear Strive or when it comes to Dragon Ball Fighters.
They've always knocked it out the park with the presentation of their games.
I'm happy that people at this point recognize.
I know Dragon Ball Fighters is probably the game that put them more on the men.
map at this point.
But as I'm playing this, I'm like, man, this game looks beautiful.
These environments are so well rendered.
For a Marvel game, there are so much pop in the colors.
There's so much like saturation.
And like it, it's a treat for the eyes when you're just looking at this game in action.
Like Kevin's brought up some more gameplay.
You look at this and it's like, damn, dude, like, Spider-Man is red as fuck.
He's red and blue as fuck, right?
Like, these characters are vibrant in the way that they pop.
In the backgrounds, got so much going on.
There's so many Easter eggs also when you take a second
and look in the backgrounds of the stage.
Like, you know, I'll play a match
and I'll still start to notice new things of, wait,
is that beast in the background?
Wait, is that this character?
Like, oh, shit.
So...
I see you wrote down here, music is bumping.
The music is bumping.
Is...
In what way?
Are we talking, like, renditions and cool versions of
Marvel-ish songs that we know, or like, or is it just cool music?
It's just cool music.
Granted, um...
Was there anything you recognized?
Um, in the...
I want to say in the, in the story mode,
there might have been hints of things that I've recognized,
but as I'm playing just the regular finding, uh, modes,
they do have character-specific music,
and I can't tell if they are references,
or if it's just like,
we're just going to make a song that sounds like a Miss Marvel song.
You know what I mean?
We need Tim, Tim to do it.
deep dive. Yeah. I texted Tim as I was playing. I was like Tim, you got to play Marvel
Tocon, at least a little bit. Because I think he'd enjoy at least like the vibe of it and stuff.
The amount of times Tim recognizes themes in any Marvel movie that we're doing, it blows my mind.
Like it legitimately feels like I'm, you know, it's like some beautiful mind type shit. Yeah.
It's really, really impressive. Yeah, I've not recognized much, but I will say the music is very
particular to the characters that are on screen. Like when Miss Marvel wins, it's like, oh,
it's like a poppy, like, girly kind of track.
And it's like, it's cool.
I really like that stuff.
Chat, let me know if you have any super chats or questions for a blessing regarding his
Marvel Tocoon journey.
I wanted to ask you, okay, so you give it very, very high marks, but not quite the fighting
game that you're, you know, necessarily going to go towards.
Similarly to, you know, whenever, when Tegin comes out, that's your shit.
That's going to be your game.
My shit.
Whenever they put out at SoulCal.
I'm locking into Soul Calibur.
Are you going to try ranked at all with this?
I've been playing rank already.
Here's the thing also.
I'm not great at this game.
I'm sure I could get there if I like hang out in the practice mode and in Labmore.
I think part of it is it goes back to it not being necessarily my direct style.
Like the most I played a tag fighting game, it has been Dragon Ball fighters.
And I think Dragon Ball so heavily carried it for me to where I was able to push through some of the stuff that I don't love as much about tag fighters.
the one thing I don't love about it being 4B4
is it can get very chaotic on screen
when you're calling in tags left and right
or your opponents calling in tags left or right
there have been multiple times where I'm sure
up lose track of who is
who is he actually playing as
and I start trying to fight a character and I'm like
oh shit that's not him and then he fucking hits me from the back
which might be part of the strategy
but it's not something that I love
I have seen a lot of moments of like that
in gameplay where I'm like I don't know who the real one
I don't know who should be attacking you right now.
There is a UI thing that'll tell you like this person.
This is the leader.
Yeah.
But the game,
a lot.
The game also moves so fast and there's a lot happening in those moments that like,
it's easy to get tripped up on that.
That and then also like even calling in tags I've found difficulty with.
And maybe it's the thing of if you want to tag safe, tag in a combo.
You know, like I played fighting games before.
I know the correct ways in which like if you're really playing this the right way,
you probably want to wait for those safe moments to tag characters in.
But sometimes I want to do a raw tag and like,
hit it raw.
Sometimes I want to hit it raw, Andy.
And let me tell you, when you're hitting it raw, guess what?
It's not safe.
Oh, man, that's dangerous.
Not only is it dangerous because that's a natural finding game thing,
but you see in the UI in the top left, you can see the four characters.
If you hold a direction, like that'll dictate what character you're calling in in that moment.
But when you're standing on the opposite side, that doesn't switch.
And so, like, there have been so many times.
In fact, most of the time where I'm calling in the wrong character,
because, like, one, I didn't look fast enough,
or they changed positions because as I'm rotating through characters,
they don't go to the same place.
They take the other character's place.
I find it very chaotic.
I'm sure if I played way more of it,
I'll just get used to it and just train my brain to be like, no.
If they're on the right or whatever,
then that means it's the way I'm facing and do it toward the enemy or whatever.
That's like, I think, a fighting game.
You gotta get used to it sort of thing.
There are no wrong answers here, Bless.
Yeah.
You wake up one day and under your pillow is the magical gaming wand from the magical gaming wizard.
And you can wave that wand and change anything about this game.
Oh.
No wrong answers.
I'm not talking about just roster.
It's like, if you said, what if it's just one player?
No tagging.
Man.
Whatever you want.
Okay.
That's a really good question.
But I'm going to give a flawed answer because again, I come back to I think this type of game is totally valid and wonderful for so many people.
But parts of it just isn't for me personally.
And one part of it.
You're changing shit selfishly for yourself.
Selfishly?
Ooh, then there's two things then.
Okay.
One of the things is I would make it just a single player.
Not a single player, but it would be one character.
is one character.
And that's me being selfish.
I know people, when they hear Marvel,
they want to tag you.
Of course.
They want those team ups.
And so I know that that is factually wrong,
but that's what I would do personally and selfishly.
You're being selfish.
The other thing is I would make it less combo based.
And this is one that I've been thinking about for the last few days,
and I can't reckon why I feel this way.
And in the shower today,
I was thinking about this.
That's how much I was like trying to consider this and figure out why I feel this way.
Because in a, in this game,
particularly, right?
And maybe more in the tag-fighting kind of games.
When you have them be very heavily combo-based,
I get frustrated as a player.
And I think part of it is, you know,
I get caught in a combo when I'm sitting there.
And I'm like, all right, carry out your thing,
opponent.
Like, fucking hit me for as much as you want
until your combo finishes.
It's the I show speed gif where they're building around him
in Fortnite and he's just like,
yeah.
I'm like, there's nothing I can do
about this until I wake up and then I get caught in another combo and I'm like fuck dude like two
combos and I'm done three combos and it's fucking over right yeah and I'm a hypocrite because I love
Tekken and Tekken's the exact same way but I don't hate it in Tekken and Tekken I am the
combo work yeah and tech and I'm like yeah let me fucking launch you now I'm fucking now you're gonna wait for 10
minutes so I carry out this shit and I think what it is is my brain there's something about
Tekken or even Mortal Kombat because moral combat also very heavily combo based something about
those games, the combos feel a bit more natural to me to where if I'm doing a combo in Tekken,
I'm just, you're watching it on screen and it makes sense of like fucking punch, punch,
kick you when they air, hit you, hit you, hit you, right?
The origin of combing in a 2D fighter, which I can correct me if I'm wrong about this.
I don't think I'm that wrong, but Street Fighter 2 had combos, right?
But there were glitches.
when you hit somebody and then follow it up with the Haddukin as a combo,
like, I believe that was a glitch, but then that kind of originated this idea of like,
oh, we can turn that into a mechanic, and now you see that in a lot of 2D fighters.
Something about trying, I went into practice mode to try.
Lawmasters has correct.
Yeah, thank you.
When I go into practice and I try to learn combos in this game,
I still feel like I'm breaking the game in a way where I'm like, why is it like this?
Or when I'm getting comboed and somebody hits me up and they do a thing,
I feel like I'm, the button combinations,
to pull this shit off is ungodly.
And far as like, why does this still feel like I'm breaking the game still?
It's a Street Fighter too.
I feel like combos should be more natural.
Granted, this game does have auto combos.
They're not optimal, but I be using them.
So, yeah, I would change that.
Because Guilty Gear Strive is kind of that way.
Guilty Gear Strive, I think, has more of an emphasis on neutral game.
And when I say neutral, it's kind of like the mono-e-mono,
like just how many hits can you get off on the other person kind of thing,
as opposed to the more
hit one hit
and then now you're
you can get their health down to halfway or that type shit
I love that. I'll change that. I love that. That's a very
great and honest answer and we're asking completely selfishly.
Yes. I love that. That's my selfish answer. I know people like that.
Let me know what you would change about the game. We have a
super chat here from Resolut. We have two super chats from Resilut. Thank you for your
generosity who says 9 out of 10 would be a 10 out of 10 if the health wasn't
shared and then follows up and says
to clear up the shared health bar comment
I had, I just wish it mattered more to
learn all four characters on your team.
Slots three and four are more
just assists. Yes.
Yeah, and I...
Okay, I didn't know that.
Yeah, so that's the thing is,
you never, as you can see, right, my team there,
and this is the team I'm currently rocking with,
I'm playing Dr. Doom, I'm playing
Miss Marvel, and I can talk more about the characters.
I'm playing Peter Quill,
and I'm playing Loki. This is
my latest team. Loki,
We'll see how long Loki lasts.
Okay.
I'm not really using Loki at all.
I'm using the other three.
The fans aren't attached to him.
Yeah.
Like, he might get replaced with Blade.
Okay.
He might get replaced with Blade, which remind me in a second to talk about Deadpool.
Okay.
Put a pin in Deadpool.
We're going to come back to Deadpool.
Because I'm a Deadpool hater.
But maybe not in this game.
Put a pit in it.
But yeah, it's like I don't have to use any, I can use just one character.
I can use just Dr. Doom and all the other three.
as assists. I like that, though. I think that's choice because as I'm playing, I'm mainly just
using Doom in Miss Marvel, and I found that certain characters can counter other characters
for me in a way that kind of feels worthwhile. Where I'm playing, I'll start off as Doom,
and if you have an Iron Man or if you have a projectile character, Doom has a unique move.
Unique moves are different from special moves, right? Unique is on your R1. Every character kind of has
one and it kind of defines like a unique aspect about that character. So Doom's unique move is that
will form an energy shield that will slowly work its way toward the other character and that other
character can't shoot projectiles through it or maybe they'll have to shoot one to like break that thing.
And if does it hurt them if they go to it? It hurts them if they go through it. And so that's why I started
using Doom is I started realizing. Yeah, I could like I could use the shield and then chase them down with
the shield. That felt great to me. Doom also has a special moves which are mapped to R2 or you can
just put in the traditional finding game inputs.
And so, like, his quarter circle forward button is his, like, blast.
Yeah, he just does, like, an energy blast.
If you press down twice and then a button, it'll, you'll, like, call down an aerial strike,
essentially.
I believe quarter circle back in a button is, like, a dash and a grab.
And then he has another one that I think is, like, an electric blast.
But, yeah, that right there is the shield that I'm talking about.
And if you're watching the video version, you're probably seeing me get worked in all these matches,
because I'm not that great at this game, admittedly.
But I forget what I was talking about.
Oh, yes.
But like, if I'm playing his doom against a projectile character,
I feel like I have an advantage.
Sometimes, though, the opponents will switch out
to a character as a bit more melee.
Maybe they have other things going on.
Maybe they've broken down my doom.
And then, guess what?
Next round, you have an answer.
I have an answer.
Hey, Miss Marvel.
Because Miss Marvel, oh, man, her unique when I press R1
is she'll grab across the screen,
essentially pull herself across the screen.
It's like a reverse scorpion.
Okay.
Where instead of get over here, I'm going over there.
I'm going over there. And she yells at a bit.
I'll see you soon.
And so I love Ms. Marvel for that because she's very mobile, right?
I can jump in the air and do it in the air, right?
I can, um...
Damn, this Iron Patriot suit is so fucking cool.
It's so cool.
Damn, dude, the color skis are badass.
Presentation in this game, 10 out of 10.
If I'm doing the video game review thing, 2005 video game review thing where I'm picking out
certain things, presentation,
10 out of 10 story I'd say 8 out of 10 fighting gameplay I'd probably say 8.5 maybe a 9 out of 10 right
But yeah if I'm in the air is so that's the thing where I stretch across the screen I can do it in the air too
Awesome so sometimes I'll like jump up stretch across the screen and then stretch down to like try and grab them because if I grab them
Then it is kind of like Scorpion where I pull them to me and then I combo off of it
So yeah I I like being able to choose mid match between rounds to go
actually you're fucking up my doom.
Let me bust out, Miss Marvel, and then do it that way.
And I think having two characters that I'm solid with,
and then the other two are just assists,
I'm totally okay with.
I think that works well.
Let's talk about Deadpool real quick.
Yeah, tell me about Deadpool.
Well, yeah, tell me about Deadpool.
I don't have much to say about Deadpool.
Other than...
You bitch.
Other than, typically, I don't like Deadpool,
and this goes back to Stevie.
You've heard me talk about Stevie before.
Stevie was a big Deadpool fan growing up
And he made me fucking hate Deadpool's ass, man
Because when you have a friend as a kid
Who his whole personality is fucking Deadpool
You grow sick of that shit so quick
I hope none of y'all have Deadpool people in your lives
I hope none of y'all have somebody that like will cosplay Deadpool
And base their whole personality off a Deadpool
Because it'll make you hate Deadpool
Because he's fucking annoying man
It's like when people
You break the fourth wall, so funny
It's like when people make content of Deadpool cosplayers at conventions, doing silly shit.
And I'm like, all right, you're trying to be the guy right now.
It's like it's enough.
He's funny in small doses.
He's funny in, I think, late stage Marvel era where it's like, okay, we know all these characters.
How do we shake it up?
Oh, we put in a rascal that'll break the fourth wall.
They'll do all these quips or whatever.
Oh, actually rascal?
Yeah.
I don't know why I called him rascal.
That's not the word I was looking for.
he's a little rascal yeah
he is he is
that's the word I'm looking for
Rebel rouser that's not the word
what's the word I'm looking
Rabel rouser?
Ravel rouser yeah
okay that
he's that
he ain't that bad in this game though
oh I when a Deadpool shows up on screen
all of the bits
whoever's on the writing team
they're locked in
I did see several people in the chat
when you brought up Deadpool
I thought it was gonna be all negative
and I saw some people in the chat go
I really enjoy his
like his references.
I'm surprised by how,
because Deadpool as a character
in this game,
all of his moves are based
off of other fighting games.
It's really,
oh, I did hear about that.
It's really funny.
Like, you'll do a super move
and then he'll do a pose
that's like fucking Gingyu
from Dragon Ball Z or
he'll do like,
that's rad.
I forget what it's called,
but there's like an uppercut
in Tekin that I think Hayachi
or one of them,
maybe Kasia does.
I did see a good Twitter threat
about all of these
kind of showing up all the references.
And so I love those references.
And then like,
he has a lot of
I mean he's Deadpool so he has a lot of jokes
a lot of them well written
I can't get mad at him
he has what's his face from
Super Goals and Goblins
from
Marvel versus Capcom
the little fucking night guy
I'm blinking on his name
I don't know I don't know this one
yeah I'm pretty I think that's a reference
maybe I'm tripping out
Arthur
Arthur Morgan
Arthur Morgan
but yeah shout out Deadpool
in this game
Very cool.
Yeah.
I like that.
Oh,
I wasn't expected
a compliment for Deadpool.
You know,
I'd never expect that from me.
I like it.
One more thing,
I'll shout out.
Character roster in this game.
Great.
Unexpected,
actually,
for like some of the choices they made.
No Thor.
And you'll see even the DLC.
Oh, yeah.
They reference Thor in the story.
Okay.
It's like,
oh, you'll see.
Yeah, who are the big omissions?
Thor,
fantastic four.
There's no fantastic four character playable.
Again,
they're referenced.
There's a lot of X-Men
that aren't here.
Cyclops,
but we know that he's DLC,
they announced them already.
God, he's gonna look so fucking cool.
They show them off.
Shut up.
It's Phantom Cyclops.
Kevin?
Oh, I do know.
Oh, I have,
dude, Phantom Cyclops?
He looks so cool.
Oh, you look sexy.
He's gonna be so fucking good in this game.
He's like a mix of,
like,
Phoenix Cyclops.
Phoenix, sorry, not Phantom.
Yeah.
Phoenix Cyclops.
Yeah, so he's got kind of like both of those properties.
Like, he looks like he's kind of like Phoenix.
It's like if you,
if when you,
When you mix two Pokemon and like that little website.
Yeah, I think he looks super sick.
No Doctor Strange.
Okay.
And I'm sure there's a million, no Miles Morales.
Dr. Strange, like, Mirror Shield would be cool.
That would be really cool.
So, like, there's so many characters they can add for this thing.
But the characters they did include, I think are cool.
They got Penny Parker.
I feel like they're looking a lot of Marvel rivals.
There we go.
There's Phoenix Cyclops.
Look at them.
Oh.
Ray Chase.
So cool.
Um, they got Storm in here.
Like, there's so many X-Men they don't have in here, but they got Storm.
They got Wolverine.
Loans he'd want, I'd say, but there's more than I want.
No Gambit, which put Gambit in here.
He's going to be so fire.
They have.
What a blast it must be to get, you know, put your own sort of artistic spin on these characters.
Oh, so cool.
Like to be a 3D artist, it'd be told like, all right, we're working on Gammonix.
Like, fuck, yeah, man.
It could be like, we were going to make it, like, slightly, like, animated style too.
So what can we do?
with that, I think is super neat. The Black Panther
they have with this isn't Techala.
Chat, is it shirry? It's a, it's like, it's a
woman Black Panther. Okay, it's probably
sure, which I think is really inspired.
I also love the character relationships.
I know I talked a bit about the story and I didn't really give
details, but the way the characters
come together, all of their interactions, I
think it reminds me of when I'm
having a really good time watching a Marvel movie,
where I'm like, oh shit, this character is meeting this character,
what are they going to think of each other? And
they thought, they really thought through a lot
of the interactions that
these disparate characters would have.
So it is sure each other's saying.
Michael Baker with a $2 super chat says,
what DLC characters you want to see the most?
Kind of, you know, we just kind of went over
a couple of them.
Thank you, Michael Baker for your super chat.
Yeah, I mean, there's too many to even list,
but the ones that I've already mentioned.
Clawmaster with a $5 super chat,
thank you for your generosity.
He says, side note for Tokon,
it was just found out today
that the cause of the PC version
having issues is indeed,
tied to the anti-cheat engine.
I feel like that happens quite a bit.
That's a really good thing to call out.
I didn't play any of the PC version.
It's a disaster.
Everybody's saying that it's a disaster.
Paul Max-Million having a lot of issues.
Max-Million dude raged quit off of the PC version.
And then bust out the PS5 version.
I was like, this is perfect.
Yeah.
What the hell was unbelievable.
The PC version didn't have any issues that first day.
Oh, interesting.
Oh, fascinating.

When West Chapp first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different.
People thought denim on denim was peak fashion.
Inline skates were everywhere, and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel.
While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy
feeling you get when WestJet welcomes you on board.
Here's to WestJetting since 96.
Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at

Going on vacation?
We're here for it.
With kids who turned the backseat into a courtroom drama
over whose tablet is louder, whose charger is faster,
and while watching the same cartoon for the hundredth time

Yep, we totally have vehicles to handle that.
Because whether it's a road trip or a business trip,
Where your flight's delayed, your phone's at 2% and your dinner is whatever is open?
Yeah, here for that too.
Enterprise, we're here for it.
And we're back in Andy.
I want to talk to you about a game that you've been playing.
Mortal Shell 2.
Yeah.
But before we get there real quick, I was thinking about it during the break.
I've made a top five.
Give me that list.
A top five of characters that I want to see in Tolkien.
Number one, Thor.
Thor is expected.
Thor is awesome part of the Avengers
I want a mechanic with Mielner
Where it is you throw it and then you
Manually retract it back
Kind of like there's a character named
Raymlethal Valentine who I like a lot in Guilty Gear Strive
Kind of works that similar way
That's number one number two Punisher
Be a full gun kick
Oh cool
Number three, daredevil
Put him in there
Number four
Squirrel Girl
I just want more Squirrel Girl content in general
We never see Squirrel Girl outside of the comics
And then number five is Strange
I want to see Dr.
Dr. Stranger just had the coolest kid ever.
Dude, I can't imagine it.
Now, Andy, Mortal Shell 2, their flesh is your weapon.
Bortle Shell 2 was a standalone sequel Action RPG with adrenaline charged, high-stakes
combat, possessed warrior shells, dethrone false gods, and redeem a ravaged world.
I remember back in the day, when I say back in the day, I'm talking about 2020, 2021 for Mortal
Shell 1, that came out.
and like I think there was a bit of excitement
but I don't think I heard
I didn't hear as much about MotorShell
afterwards as I thought I would have
yeah now that we hear with Moro Shell too
Andy what's the word
the word is that a lot of people
are really happy with it as am I
as a game that I
probably would not have tried out
you know
except for the fact that they put out this demo
and then they did like an open beta
and shout out to devs that do that
because it turns people around
and maybe, you know, gets people to want to
buy and purchase your game.
And yeah, Mortal Shell 1
was a game that I've said several times.
It's like, it's only a game that I ever watched
Lawrence Sontag, formerly a Funhouse,
stream. I watched him stream it a couple times.
I was like, this looks cool, but not, you know,
I think it was a lot of like sevens and sixes
out of tens.
And I was like, eh, I'm not enough for me to want to hop over
and try this brand new, this,
whatever brand new Soulslike experience.
Was that pre, I think that was like pre our souls obsession as well?
No, I don't think so.
I mean, it was during the pandemic and I was playing,
I was playing Bloodbourne in 2019.
Oh, it was 2020.
Or it was my birthday for 2020.
Yeah.
Before the, before we fully went work from home.
Oh, so it was like fresh because it came out August 18th, 2020.
Yeah.
So you must have, I think you just.
probably played through
Bloodborn.
Yeah.
Like fresh in it.
Played through Bloodborn.
And then December was,
or November was Demon Souls,
PS5.
But yeah,
for part two,
I thought they did a great job
with kind of rolling out
a way for people to try it out
and show off
why people should have more faith
in their sequel.
And yes,
we know we put out a part one
that we're proud of,
but it wasn't the most amazing experience.
And here are all the things
that we want to fix and make better.
And I think it's,
I was saying this during Games Daily,
I think it's just such a cool testament to why you want to keep teams together
and keep that rhythm and flow rocking.
And maybe the first one wasn't as amazing,
but it made us enough money to be able to make a part two,
and part two comes out.
And they have a lot of cool ideas and neat surprises.
And it's a game that definitely surprised me.
I have really enjoyed my time with it so far.
I'm a little over 20-ish hours.
Wow.
I think that
I think the game
I think I've kind of like left the game running in some spot
so it says like 24 to 25 but
I'm fairly deep into the game
and I've been enjoying my time with it quite a bit
on top of like all of the other stuff
and you yesterday were like I didn't know you were playing it like that
and I have been mentioning
a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2
and restarting Ballers Gate 3
and all sorts of other shit that I've been playing
but it was really after the base
that I was like, shit, I want to give this a shot and I've really enjoyed my time with it.
It's a Soulslike.
One neat thing about it doesn't have a stamina bar.
Pretty kind of a wild change.
You showed me that yesterday and like that feels like, yeah, such an insane change for a game that is souls like in nature.
Yeah.
Does that work for you?
It totally does.
And I think a lot of it comes down to the risk reward factor of how awesome it is to break down to
enemy's posture or whatever, you know, with the correct amount of parries that you could do,
you could break down their posture, and then you can go in for that big critical attack.
So I could be dodging a lot more, and I probably should, but I love those parries,
and I love breaking down that posture and going in there for the big attacks.
But, yeah, the game's really fascinating where, like, all of the variety in the gameplay is based
on these shells that you are finding, and they are these, they are just like these,
people that you inhabit.
And you are kind of taking their bodies and controlling them.
And all of them are all different people.
And whenever you unlock a new one, there's a little cutscene.
And you're like, okay, that tells me something about this character.
And then when you level that shell up, then you unlock more and more cutscenes.
And you get more and more of their story while also unlocking more of their skill tree.
to be able to update their weapon or update their ability.
So one dude I've been using quite a bit, he's a king character.
It's probably one of the coolest character designs I've ever seen in the game.
It just looks so badass.
And he has a shoulder charge that adds a shit ton of posture damage.
And so you could charge it and then the way you could level that up,
if you put the points in it, it'll charge quicker.
and it'll do more if you keep on leveling it up or whatever.
And there's just a lot of different things to make their abilities better.
There's a bunch of different shells in the game that change the way the gameplay and the way
that you interact with the game.
So if you are somebody who loves doing a little sneak attack, there's a shell in the game
called Teal.
And he's like this hooded figure.
And you can go into like stealth if you have the amount of mana or whatever.
It's called Focus, I believe, in this game.
And you can go into a little like stealth mode.
hit him with a stabby attack out of the blue
and it does a decent amount of damage.
I level that up far enough to where
whenever I do that stabby move,
it adds stacks of poison.
And then you could level up how many stacks of poison.
So the enemy turns all green and their enemy...
I love a place to go.
It's so cool, dude.
I would say my frustration I was talking about yesterday on stream
and I do feel like this will inevitably be something
that they do fix and change and add as like a bug and an update or whatever.
But the game is very good about letting you reallocate your points whenever.
When you level up, there is no standard souls-like way to level up.
You're not putting a point of the strength and maybe I'll go into whatever.
You are just leveling up your core being, the harbinger, the dude who is naked who just kind of looks like a skeleton with, you know,
he just looks like a nothing right he's just like that's the standard form of you and then you inhabit
the shells and take on their forms or whatever but all you're doing is leveling them up and when you
and by doing that by leveling up like the standard guy that guy in the left um you just go to level up
and it tells you we're increasing the health here okay and if you level that up then the next level
we'll say we're increasing the health and we're giving you three attack and we're giving you whatever other
stat. So you level that up. You're not
selecting individual things. So that makes the
experience a lot less complicated.
And then
whenever you, the
annoyance that I have with it is
you unlock these
this currency called shell points.
And the shell points are what you put into the different
shells, which you could refund at any time.
It's very nice.
But it's annoying only
because if I have
11 shell points and I put all 11
of them into that king character,
that I've been using quite a bit.
And then I unlock another character
and maybe she has lightning moves
and maybe there's an enemy who's weak to lightning.
I'm like, I want to use her.
I then have to refund the 11 points from him
and put him back into her.
If I want to go back to the king,
I have to refund him.
So it's nice that you could refund,
but I'm like, let every character just have their own 11 points.
Yeah.
You know, and that would make the experience
a lot less annoying.
And it's a little nitpick, whatever,
but I feel like that is something
that enough people will,
go, yeah, why don't we just have it this way where you can always, each character has
their set of points that you've unlocked. The variety in the characters is really neat so far.
The exploration in the world is pretty great. I love, you know, I don't think it's anywhere,
you know, among like the best souls likes in terms of level design, but it is really nice to
explore and find a new pathway and get a new power that.
that lets you break down that gate
that can now become that shortcut
to that next new spot.
There's a lot of like
neat little treasures to find
that help you level up.
This game surprises me in a lot of different ways.
There's a lot of like
cool little moments that
when you
when you want to show the player
that we give a shit on this level,
they're doing stuff like that.
There's like a little random town
where there's
an NPC and a dude
in taking a bath in like a pot
and he's like
oh he was going on man
fucking what are you doing around here
and then
I would just happen upon him
and keep on kind of revisiting him
and that story progresses
and suddenly
this woman's here now
and like you're kind of starting to unlock
what's happening in his life
and it's really cool
and I got to the end of his storyline
I was like
that's fucking
awesome and I didn't see that coming. The game
has a lot of cool surprises like that
but I'm just super impressed by
the way it feels, the way it looks. I think it
runs supremely well.
It's super well optimized if you're playing
on PC and
yeah, the parries feel great. The game
has these things called seals
and
the seals are what
dictate kind of the
play style for
whenever you want to block or parry.
if you remember
Mortal Shell 1
a game I did not play
but you had the ability
to do like a harden
where you just kind of like
your whole body becomes rock
or whatever right
that seal
that seal is still something
you can use in the game
where you harden
and it kind of like
has that block
and you turn enemies
around you into rock as well
I've been using the seal
that kind of just makes
your block
like a normal soul's like
it's a normal parry
if you do it at the right time
it does it. If you don't do it at the right time, you will take some block posture damage or whatever.
Or if the hit is too heavy, you will just get completely knocked out of it, whatever.
There's also another seal that you can kind of find in the beginning zone or kind of near your
hub world. And that seal that you find is a like easy mode seal. It's a seal that lets you get health back
when it gives you a bunch of benefits, but it says, hey, this is kind of our easy mode. And you can
equip this if you want, but it does disable
achievements. So
only equip this if you know what you're doing.
Because as soon as you equip it, you won't get any more
achievements on this. So it's kind of like a
way to
make the annoying people happy in a way, which I don't
necessarily love, where they're like, well, why are you getting to achieve?
You're beating the easy. I beat it out hard. Fuck you.
Yeah. It, it, I think
it's a neat way to just kind of like find
some sort of middle ground.
But I think the game is
like pretty challenging and really cool.
I,
I,
if I were to wave the magical game development wand for the magical game development wizard,
I wish that there were a bit,
there was a bit more enemy variety,
but it still does a good job of like going to a new zone
and you see some new fucking weird gross thing.
Dude,
you were showing me your screen yesterday.
And as Kevin's been showing some of the gameplay here,
like you see some,
there are some enemies that look like the worst thing.
Nightmares.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, oh, who, who's brain to that?
come out of. Some truly disgusting shit
in this game. Terrifying. I do
want to give like the biggest amount of
props to the sound team.
The sound design
in this game is so
gross and visceral
and amazing.
I don't, I
feel like it's one of those aspects that we could easily
just kind of gloss over, but playing this
game with like really good headphones and
hearing all of the
just wet shit
whenever you're fucking like doing a parry
or you're going, and that in the animation team,
I think does a phenomenal job of making all of these critical
kind of hits look really cool presentationally.
There's a dude who,
there's a gross-ass enemy dude who's got a,
I'm going to try to maybe find it on their social page,
but he's like,
he's kind of like a monk-looking character with a,
he's got like this brown robe,
but it's like this gross-ass tentacle coming out of his face.
But he still has a mouth.
It's like almost like he's...
It's almost like his goatee is like really, really long, right?
Sure.
And but it's like part of his skin.
It's just gross.
And he can whip you with this thing.
But he also attacks you with the melee.
But if you, whenever you do the like punishing move on him or whatever,
you grab that fucking flap a long skin from his chin and it does like the little cutscene
when you do this move.
and you just jam that shit into his fucking,
and you're like,
and you're hitting his face,
and he's just getting hit by his own skin,
and he's making these gross-ass sounds,
and it is just gross as hell,
but it's awesome.
Like, this game is so,
it's so metal and disgusting,
and I love it for it.
I,
I'm not done with the game,
but I feel like I've played enough to give it a score.
I think this is a solid eight out of ten.
I think it's a great video game.
That's awesome.
I would easily recommend
it to anybody who's into
an action-adventure game,
Souls-like, whatever you want to call it.
I was
supremely surprised
by this game,
and glad I picked it up on my fantasy team.
How's it reviewing? Is it doing well?
Yeah, I think it has like an 85 or something.
No way. Yeah.
That seems like a huge step-up from Moral Shell 1.
Massive step-up from Mortal Shell 1, I would say.
Wow.
Yeah, I think it's a super...
Oh, yeah. Also, you got a gun.
You have a lot of different guns.
which is really, really neat.
So you can unlock a lot of different
melee weapons.
You can get an axe, you can get a sword,
you could get a big great sword, a big hammer, whatever.
And they all do their kind of different types of damage.
Some enemies would be weaker to the direct blunt damage
and some enemies would be weaker to a slash or whatever.
But you have ranged weapons
that are not just, I got the most important question,
and I'm glad that they asked it last night in the YouTube chat,
are the range weapons just like
Bloodborne range weapons where they're just kind of like
the Perry weapon? Yeah.
Like no, they are, they can be very
offensive in your kit.
And
the, when we think of
the way that you add depth
to your like Elder Ring gameplay with
the talismans,
the tar stones are the ad
equivalent here and you find a lot of
different items called tar stones in this game
and they
they all kind of
like interweave how your
range weapon
works with your melee weapon
and there's like a tarstone that
says whenever you
slash an enemy you add perforation
stacks
and whenever you and those perforation
stacks mean that the enemy
will then take more range damage
so if you melee them a couple times
and you see the little stacks build up on the
enemy bust out that range weapon
boom you're going to do a lot bigger damage
I love that type of time there's also
on the opposite side, there's a tarstone that adds fragile to an enemy, which means they take more melee damage.
So maybe you start off your fights with all of your shots, and you build up your shots with your focus meter,
which is built up by just doing attacks on enemies, and it slowly builds up.
So that's kind of what your ammo is.
But there's like, you start up with that really cool kind of shotgun weapon.
There's a crossbow.
There's a weapon called the Ballista Zuka.
and it's like a bazooka but like a ballista as well
there's a weapon called an ax and a katana
and it's like an axe and a katana
there's a lot of cool shit in this game
and yeah so I explain just like two basic tar stones
but there's a lot of like other ones that
add different kind of cool neat ways to interact with enemies
and find the best way to take on certain baddies
but it's a freaking it's a freaking blast so far
this frog is killing me by the way
Oh, he's like the fucking weird, his coughing.
Yeah.
The animation on it is like...
So this is one I'm excited to like see exactly what's going on with his thing because he,
he's kind of sick, so you give him some mushrooms to make him feel better.
Yeah.
And then I came back to him and he gave me a little treasure.
He was like, hey, hey, thanks for that, man.
That was really nice.
He gave me that.
You know, you gave me that.
I feel a lot better now.
But he's looking for a, he's looking for a girlfriend.
No.
I think he mentioned like he's looking for his mate or something like that.
Just like me for real.
and we're both coughing
He's exactly like me
Yeah so there's a lot of like neat little
MPCs around the world that kind of
Whose stories will evolve if you
Indulge them if you like go ahead and try to follow
Exactly what their story is but yeah
I'm really enjoying it so far I think it's super surprising
It's also neat that every
Bonfire you find
is it's called a beacon
and anytime you find a beacon
I'd say like 80% of these beacons
are
have a dungeon underneath them
that you need to cleanse
okay
and when you go to
you click the option
you you know
you click the option to cleanse the beacon
and then you enter
this doorway that is inside of like this beacon
or whatever and suddenly you are
underneath the ground and there's
you got a dungeon and they may be as basic
as one or two rooms with a couple enemies.
Some of them get a bit more complicated.
Some of them have a boss fight.
There's like really cool variety in there.
There was a sick one early on where you're trying to like look for an enemy who's like
around you.
And then you happen to like at the right time, you look up and you see them up there and the
floor disappears beneath you and you fall into like this sort of like dream state.
Like, fuck, they're doing some really cool shit with boss fights.
Well, hold on.
Kevin, go back to that.
Oh, it's ridiculous.
Go back like three seconds.
Dog, let me, let me, let me, that one's ridiculous, dude.
This, this, this, this shell proxima.
What?
Hold on.
And dude, it's, it's like that in a screenshot in game.
It's, it looks like a Marvel rivals character like gone crazy.
Like, yeah, that dumper goes, goes crazy.
You gotta introduce that character to the frog.
You kind of be like, yo, I got somebody for you.
Well, there's a, there's a, there's a, there's a, there's a, a character who knows Proxima.
And maybe if you introduce yourself to the character as Proxima, they respond differently.
You know what I mean?
Like, there's like stuff like that.
Because these people in this world, when you go back to the Hubble, they know who these shells were.
They're like, oh, shit, you're, wow, you're using that.
You're using that shell, you know?
like, oh, you're big dumper lady, you know?
Yeah, that goes crazy.
There's also a really funny NPC in the hub world who's always like, Habinger, it's an honor
to deal with you, Habinger.
And every time you click through, ah, Habinger, great to see you, Hobinger.
And a couple times where he's just Ben Star, a couple times where he talked to him,
if you run away as he'll go, you know, it's very rude to run away to walk away.
And then there will be, and he'll say other stuff if you happen to leave during conversation,
and like, I was talking to you.
And if you go back and talk to him,
he'd be like, I appreciate that.
Thank you.
It's really, really nice.
Like, I made this dude's day.
He's just happy to, you know,
be in service of the Harbinger.
But yeah, pretty neat concept of like this,
the under Matherer who crashes on Earth.
And it's this big ass fucking...
I don't know if she's like,
if she was alive at any point,
but it's like, think of like this big ass bone corpse.
Okay.
I think this gigantic, like,
When you are out in the open world, you see the big ass, like, think of it as like being a spaceship or a comet that crashed.
Okay.
You see the remnants of this big, you know, the broken pieces.
The remnants of the ashes.
Of the ashes.
And they are massive.
It's so cool what they do scale-wise.
But she had a bunch of eggs, a bunch of ovum.
But, yeah, okay.
You know, she was pregnant.
And then people around the world saw this thing crash and we're like, we're going to take whatever's in there.
So a lot of people have been stealing the eggs.
and it's your job as the Harvinger
to bring the, you have to bring the Oven
back to the undermether.
Wait, so are you...
Anytime you kill a boss,
you'll kill a big boss
and it'll be like, that fucking thief
stole 20 of the Oven.
Are you working like for...
Like, are you with the undermather?
Like, do you come from her planet?
You're like under the people
that worship the undermather.
Oh, okay.
Gotcha.
And so like as part of these people,
it's like, we respect the undermather.
I'm going to go retrieve...
Bring the oven back.
back to the under feather because you're disrespect you kill that one boss that fucking thief they had
30 of them and you brought them all back thank you you're restoring in real life like excuse me because we
don't because we don't know what's out there because like space is crazy and like just think about okay
I'm not going to ask if it could happen but like what if it had a comet hit earth and it was filled
with eggs this is almost you asking like who owns the color blue like this is on that level but like
because like space is so big and there's life
out there. It's very vast. We don't know what form of the life takes because, you know,
science go crazy. Look, it reminds you of the comet hitting Earth and then going like, oh,
there's Adamantium on this or whatever. That's what I'm saying? It's like, what if a comet hit
Earth one day and it's a bunch of eggs? What do we do about? We got to exterminate that shit.
What do we do? Chat, what do we do? Let's go in the comments down below.
I do have a couple more questions, but I want to bring in some super chats real quick.
I, I, I dab slabs, there it is, writes in and says, I'm about four hours in and
loving this so far. Rack the big bird
has some bars he'd be spinning.
Oh, Root. Rook.
Yeah, his name is Ruk. Yeah, Rook.
They wrote Rack. He's
Yeah, he's got some cool shit to say. He's
a scary looking thing. He has like
a, from the outside, he looks
just like a bird, but on the, like,
inside of the bird's mouth is like a human
skull. Oh, that's cool. It's
very scary looking. He's a weird
dude. But he provides you with maps for the
areas. And he's like, go out
there harbinger. He was like, like,
a rolling R is a lot.
Thwarted junk says
unrelated to today's topic,
but yesterday I was brought back
15 years ago to tight eyes crumping to E.T.
by Katie Perry on America's Best Dance Crew.
Let me tell you,
I teared up in that moment.
You wouldn't understand it.
Y'all wouldn't understand it.
If you were there when Tide Eyes
was crumped into E.T.
You would get it.
Dietrichs was a judge.
You don't know Dietrichs.
Dietrichs, he was dancing as part of Quest crew.
That's one of those like, you know,
we've run out of sentences.
D.
D.rix is he...
When tie dives
was crump in a T.D.
The E.T.
first of all, by Katie Perry.
I bet.
But the judge,
Dietrichs was also crying
because we,
we knew how deep
crump goes.
Because like crump is a spiritual.
People don't know
that crump is a spiritual dance.
You know what I mean?
It's not just...
You have it or you don't.
It's rooted in Christianity.
I'm not dead ass.
I'm fucking serious.
What I say?
Crump is a praise dance.
It is.
We're the Apostol.
Trumping?
Well, no.
But, like, you know, dance evolves.
You know, the genres of music evolves.
And, like, people in L.A. or whatever, they, like, when they're inventing crumping.
You can't call something biblically crump, though.
I mean, if you wrote the Bible today, it wouldn't be crazy.
Oh, here's the guy with a fucking big tongue thing, the big tongue jaw.
It's so gross.
Look at that thing.
You described him very well.
Thank you.
It was very, very hard to describe.
Wow.
Um, okay.
I know we've kind of run out of time, but I do have two questions.
I'll still ask anyway.
Difficulty.
Was, is this game, how would you compare this game's difficulty to other action games?
Um, I think it's easier than most action games.
And then my problem with it is like you might hit a real big wall out of nowhere.
And I want, and I, maybe that's just, we got to rebalance that because you have, you have
haven't had anything like this up until now where every boss I'm taken out in either one or
sub five tries yeah mostly like one to two to three um and a boss that I you know happened upon
last night is just like just a dickhead like one swing whole health bar gone and it's like
what what am I missing did I have I
Is this an Eldon Ring like skip the tree sentinel, go fight other stuff moment?
So far the rest of the game hasn't quite been like that, but maybe this is.
I don't know.
But so far it's been a lot easier than most souls likes, yeah.
Somebody in chat says, yes, it began in churches, but it's not rooted in Christianity.
Those are two very different things.
What I'm saying is that, yes, crump began in churches, but they were crumping to praise God.
Gotcha, okay.
I'm pretty sure.
And let's correct me if that's wrong.
Did they just happen to be in the churches?
they were crumping because I assumed
they were doing it as a form of praise
in the churches.
It may have just been an extra curricular
activity. Yeah, they're like, no, they just, the church
had a room. That was free for rental.
And the crumpers got you. The crumpers were renting
out the room every Thursday. Like, no, they were
just playing kickball outside, but they weren't kickballing
for Jesus. They were just playing kickball.
Let me tell you, I was playing kickball
outside of the youth group, and I thought that was for
Jesus. He was playing kickball. He's going to
love this kick.
My one other question, because
you know, you, me, Mike,
like plenty of us here.
We play a lot of action games.
We play a lot of games that are, I would say,
are under that. Soulslike adjacent umbrella,
not necessarily all Soulslikes,
but I look at a game like First Preserker,
which has like some, like, influences there as well, right?
We play a lot of these games,
a Wollong Fallen Dynasty, Neo, all this shit.
And for you, picking up Mortal Shell 2,
having a good time with it, obviously,
giving an 8 out of 10 so far in your experience with it.
Do you, where do you, where do you land as far as fatigue with the genre?
Are you, are you still in a place where it's like, no, man, keep putting these out?
I'm gonna keep playing them.
Or like, I guess like, have you felt that at all while playing Mortal Shell?
Is my question.
Because I feel like I see it from our audience.
Maybe, when they announce new ones.
Maybe a tiny bit, but, I mean, you know, I saw somebody in chat during Gabe Day, say,
but it's just another soul's like
but it's like okay well that game's just another that
and that game's like yeah you're doing the reductive
like well all you do is jump in Mario like
you're just doing that thing like I
I think if
I don't think I'd be 20 hours in if I was
if I was tired of it if I was tired of it
I we have other things that we have
been playing and could still be playing
I don't think I would have continued with it
because I think the game was just
enjoyable and continue to surprise me in ways that wanted me to keep going, that made me want
to keep going rather.
But yeah, I would say like, yeah, I think the number one question I got was like this or
Liza P. Like Liza P is the gold standard.
Yeah, we can't compare things to Liza P. Liza P will always be the gold standard.
Yeah.
So when I say Liza P all day over this, that's not to say anything bad about this game.
It's just Liza P is over. Like Melissa with the Y said in the chat yesterday, she's that bitch.
Like, that's the one, right?
So, like, Liza P is my gold standard for Soul's Likes.
I would go, like, I would probably go, like,
maybe Stellar Blade and Wu Chong falling feathers.
Man, Wu Chong is that high for you.
Wuchong is so fucking good, man.
Like, Wu Chong is, like, I'm glad that they kind of were able to come back together as
that team because they were, like, let go.
I forget exactly what I'm in that studio.
but um
Wuchang is like a really awesome
experience um
Where's black myth fit into it for you?
Um I would go
Probably
Probably above
Maybe above first Preserker
Okay
Um
I would put this over both of those
I would put
Mortal Shell 2 over both
But you're not putting it in line
With stellar blade
Um
I mean it does
They have a lot of like
this game excels where Stellar Blade doesn't sort of moments.
But I just, I love the,
I love the cutscenes in Stellar Blade.
Like,
the hype and the music of like,
killing something and
and then like that final cutscene that when she,
you know,
you finally get the final kill and she throws her sword up and stabs.
Like,
that game is just like so,
it's so slick,
dude.
Like,
I would say,
I would say it's like up there with it.
But,
like I think this game certainly excels in a lot of other spots where
SELBade does.
And I think it's a lot more interesting in the traversal and exploration.
I mean,
and Chatter saying we should do a,
a soul's like bracket,
which I think would,
I think you would have to extend it out beyond just Soulslike
because obviously it would be like the action RPG.
It would be like,
yeah,
the action RPG bracket.
And I think so.
I think we had to wait though.
We had to wait until after Phantom Blade Z.
is out and maybe even until Tides of Annihilation is out, though that might be longer.
So maybe before.
Yeah.
Yeah, because it, I, maybe we'll see what people say about Tides at Gamescom.
I feel like if we do it around Phantom Blade Zero, then it's like, it's relevant.
Yeah.
It's a relevant thing.
No, you're right.
You're right.
That's a good call.
Write that down.
Yeah, write it down, Chad.
And that's it.
This episode.
You want an outro or Jedi outro?
I know we're both kind of hosting at the same time.
Of course, this has been kind of funny games cast.
Tell us what you think about these.
these games. Have you been playing Marvel Tocon?
What do you think about Marvel Tocon?
Have you been playing it? You probably played more than I have at this point.
What are your thoughts on it and tag fighters and all that shit?
Also, what are your thoughts on Moro Shell 2? Are you excited for it?
Do you want to play it? Are you fatigued with
Soulslike action RPGs? What do they call it?
Because when Moro Shell 1 came out, they had a term that they tried to make
happen. I want to say, yeah. I think they called it like a deep RPG or a deep action game.
I think that's what they called Mortal Shell 1.
They were trying to like not say Souls like.
said deep action.
Chat, correct me if I'm wrong about that,
but I remember that conversation
happening with me and Greg.
But let us know what your thoughts are
on Mortal Shell too.
Also, have you noticed
that me and Andy are like,
I feel like slightly off in our framing?
Because I'm on the corner
and like you're in the corner.
I should have been over here.
Yeah, you should have been over there.
Pretend I should have been.
Prettain I was over here the whole time.
That.
Don't Google deep action is what crap.
Garber Gores and chat says.
Of course, we have more shows for you
like the one we have right after this,
which I believe is,
game showdown
as an opening.
Game Showdown.
It's not game.
Oh no, it is Game Showdown.
Yeah, it's Game Showdown
followed by a stream
that's going to be in shrouded part four.
But until next time,
it's been our pleasure to serve you.
