It's to the first ever state of play Japan. PlayStation tweeted out on November 11th. Actually, no, they tweeted out a couple days ago. Today's November 11th, but they tweeted state of play Japan shares news, interviews, and updates curated for players in Japan and Asia. Tune in later today.

Toro Enu is clearly known as the Sony cat, all right? Also known as the main character of the doco demo Eseo series and the de facto unofficial mascot of Sony interactive entertainment. And you see him right now sitting on this couch waiting to be cast.

There's a lot that could happen here. There's a lot of nothing that could happen here. We have no idea what really do expect except for what they're saying here. This Tuesday, we're bringing you a special episode of State of Play running for more than 40 minutes. Wow. On games created in Japan and across Asia, alongside a few other exciting updates from beloved series to distinctive indie creations. This show is hosted by voice actor Yuki Kaji, and it will be packed with great games, interviews, and new looks and anticipated titles. And then, yeah, the tweet also

said it updates curated for players in Japan and Asia. So it's a mix of not only being Asian developers, but also an Asian-focused audience. I'm interested what that's actually going to mean, or if it's really just going to have a different host, you know? Bear, can you bring up the Toro image again? I was calling this a casting couch. You guys got to... Tim made the joke. It's your mind.

Oh, Tim made the joke. Sorry, I was reading. I'll do my own reading up on Toro. I'm the problem. Oh, you're the problem. You need to go to church. But yeah, I mean, like, obviously, they're talking even about... From beloved series to distinctive indie creations.

We've seen in the state of plays recently a lot of these smaller indie games that were from Japan, and a lot of them have been releasing over the course of the year. But beloved series, there's so many. Right. So many Capcom that we have the big three right now with Onimusha, Resident Evil, Pragata that we did our previews on. Probably expect to see at least two of those again here, right? Square Enix can show up. There's a ton of different things. PlayStation themselves to some extent, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls. Yeah. What's on your mind, bless? I mean, you know, taking the jokes out of the Toro thing, that actually does get me excited because when I see Toro, I think of Japan studio and I think of a side of PlayStation that has felt sorely.

missing ever since they shut down Japan studio of course it still lives through Timosobi but that was only like a pocket of what that studio was and so for me this is exciting for what it could signal and what it could be as far as trying to lean more into that like you mentioned Marvel took on Fighting Souls at the last

PlayStation State of Player I guess in the summer PlayStation State of Play I should say they highlighted highlighted that and did a big deep dive into what Arc System Works was doing with that game and it felt very much like a leaning into the Japanese side of what you can do with first party PlayStation stuff. And so I hope to see more of an embracing of that.

One thing that might be a bit more, I guess, deeper in the bag as far as what this could be, or the kind of thing we can see here. On the Nintendo Switch side, we've been seeing the Bandai Namco published games that were seemingly PlayStation things when it comes to things like Freedom Wars. And I feel like there was on pad upon. Yeah, and everybody's golf as well. I wonder if we could see more from that. that I would love to see a return to dark cloud.

I would love to see we mentioned the other day, Eco, things like that. Like a lot of those IP are just sitting. And so I would love to see some sort of return to that stuff. But maybe that's me just hoping, right? That's hoping him right there. I would love to see a re-release of everybody's golf hot shots. You just got to do one.

Let's start over. Let's do it again. Because like it just wasn't. You start off. You have two unlocked characters. Everybody, like, it just wasn't the best. It felt like a false start. It felt like a kind of a clerical error.

are we able to be disappointed? Are we just riding waves? I think that even if there are no expectations, you can still be disappointed. Like, there is still a chance that this is just, just a straight up dud, right?

But I don't think it's going to be. I also don't expect we're going to get Final Fantasy 7-3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 and like all this crazy shit. But like anything is possible right now. And I feel like I don't, I'm not saying that as like, oh my God, like this could be the biggest thing ever. But like 40 minutes, beloved series and like we're going to see some cool games. Like I feel confident that we're going to walk away from this being like, oh, there

Yeah. I mean, they're focused on interviews here. I do think it's going to be that substantial part of this 40 minute runtime. I'm prepared for that. Yeah. And that's the thing, do. Like, there's probably going to be a ton of games here that we're just simply not interested in, you know?

And I, it does kind of feel like. like they're going out of their way to be like, hey, you four people sitting at this table, this isn't necessarily for you, you know? But I also know that we do like a lot of these games and a lot of potentials. I feel like out of the four of us, maybe more so me, me and me and me,

right? Like, maybe my actually, you know, Mike, you played Final Fantasy 10. I'm out of the box. Oh, yeah, you,

we never know what to expect from you. Honestly, thank God we left Greg Miller at home. Because I feel like this is going to speak to us for more so than like, maybe a lot of other people out there. But when we think about video games, we think about like a large part of what makes video games, think of Japan and Japanese culture and like a bunch of games that are developed on that side of the world.

There's no headliner. Just Tor. But there's rarely a headliner unless it's such a known quantity. Like, they don't normally go, hey, get your first look at this game. I mean, I know Kingdom Hearts 4 we've seen before, but the next time we see Kingdom Hearts 4,

I bet it looks radically different. Like, it might as well be the announcement of the game, right? Do we get anything, like, what's the over-under? I'll set it at 1.5 of kind of, like, cozy Life Sim Square Enix games. That feels like a more Nintendo vibe. Like, they seem to promote those games in directs more than these, but maybe this is the beginning of them being like, hey, we could do it at PlayStation 2.

That's a good line. 1.5. They've been leaning off of that stuff. Like, when was the last time we got to harvest Stella? It's been a while. We're due. But they were specifically saying, like, a year ago that they were going to pull back on doing a fuck ton of projects and focusing on just the thing. What was that one game?
