What's up everybody?
Welcome to a Kind of Funny Games cast plays for Pokemon Pocopia.
I'm one of your host Greg Miller alongside Christmas in March, Joey Noelle.
Hello.
It's here.
It's finally.
You can experience this game along with us.
I love that so many of you have been jumping into Pocaopia.
My feeds are filled with people in there.
You've started convincing your friends to buy switches and play it.
Lots of money's being wasted and we love this.
I'm so sorry.
I'm still trying to talk myself out of going to the Nintendo store today.
Why?
Because I should play more video games at my desk.
I'll have to leave even earlier to go to the Nintendo store,
but they got the dittos.
They got the dittos.
Oh, because all the ones that are different Pokemon.
Go get a squirdle ditto.
The Alolan Volpix one is so cute.
Sure.
Of course, Pokemon Popopia is out today.
You can catch our review over on the kind of funny games cast
from Monday, but the streaming bar goes up
because it's out and never can play it,
and never do it.
So Joey and I thought we would jump into our games,
maybe after the ad break, jump into Joey.
See how we're fine and go from there.
No promises.
But before I even go, we have to make a lot of things clear,
all right?
A lot of things, so like 35 plus hours played
of this game for me, I love this game.
As I was talking about in Games Daily today with Mikey,
I have to settle in that Pocopia is a marathon and not a Sprint.
Yeah.
You are in the first biome with me.
We're going to do spoiler-free.
Obviously, I can't control if somebody says something,
but, like, spoiler-free, this first area still looks like trash.
It's messed up.
It's still totally screwed up.
I'll walk you through what's going on on it,
but I don't want to be judged for having a messy area.
Okay.
Is it Christine?
No, my opening area is so disaster.
Nobody has a house.
No houses.
Just beds everywhere.
So right now we are just buried, buried, burrowed into a wall over here.
Well first off, hey, sub, this is my ditto.
Named him Ben because we started it with Benny, of course.
Every Ben character eventually kind of starts to look like me.
And so when I found, hey, that I had a nerdy outfit I was able to locate.
I was like, well, clearly I got rockin that.
I do have several other ones, of course, as you play this game,
and you go and start unlocking different areas and different,
they're collectible, basically.
You find notes and you get different outfits based on that.
So I've collected quite a few, but I do try to stay in the nerdy outfit because I feel like it's the most, me, if you will.
I got this chair that kind of looks like a Mizzu Tiger's chair.
I was like, did you decorate it or find it like that?
No, it's just how it is.
I can't.
Yeah, it feels like it needs to be in your house.
Notice you don't have a bed.
No, why would I?
This falls into the Animal Crossing thing.
In Animal Crossing, I made it very normal, and then I saw people doing exciting things.
And it used to give me shit because I had a bathroom.
Like, why did you build a, I'm like, I don't know, it's a house.
I'm like so un-knit.
Why are there so many bathroom things in the game
if you don't want me to make a bathroom?
So animal, sorry, for Pocopia, right,
like you got to make the Pokemon happy.
And you have to put the Pokemon places
to make them happy.
So yeah, I just drilled into this wall at one point.
That's so interesting.
And I was like, let's just make a big space
that you have to put down three pieces of furniture
for a Pokemon to come live in the house you build.
So I did that.
If you're thinking houses, like, to build them,
all you need is this foundation level
around the floor and a door.
So you do this little bit and slam a door on it.
They count it as a house.
Doesn't even need a ceiling.
You'll see in maybe some of my other places,
I just have the foundations in that.
You kept telling me that, but I was like,
I could not like wrap my head around it.
Wrap what I was just talking about.
Yeah.
So then you do that, you throw down three pieces of furniture.
You can put them in there,
happy enough to live there,
and then you can start doing their own things.
Which is nice when you're like resource light at the beginning.
Of course, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But this is the first section of the game for Pokemon,
Pocopia.
We come.
So interesting to see where,
Everybody else is building and doing it.
Yeah, so.
Because the maps are the same.
So exactly, yeah.
Everybody starts with the same biomes, right?
And then we tear it apart.
When you start Popopia, you will start off in this cave
where you meet Professor Tangroth over there.
We just saw waving at us.
His stuff's over here.
He gives you a little rundown of like,
I don't know what's going on, but nobody's here.
What do we do?
And then you come out and start your journey into this world.
And again, as Joey's saying,
off to the races on what you kind of want to do with it
from there.
So you can see what I have done.
I do have my first gigantic house here ready to go.
So I'm pretty stoked.
Oh, you saved her for us.
How excited.
Yeah, yeah.
So of course, timbers here, you know, there you go, dinner.
The Leaf's house all done.
You gotta check it out.
It's super awesome.
Here comes the big reveal.
Drum roll, please.
That me neither.
Again, again, I'll put some stairs in front of it,
obviously, before this on this wood platform,
I had a very similar, I just tossed in a foundation
and we're able to go.
But now I have this beautiful house that I get off to put some stuff inside of so that I can tell,
hey, Pokemon, why don't you come live here and be happy, but you see.
Ooh, this is like a multi-room kind of thing.
Oh, and upstairs.
I've just built one of these yet.
And that's the thing, what I was, I don't know how many people I can put in this house,
but I'm pretty sure I can put a lot.
Yeah.
Which is nice.
Is somebody do you have in yours?
Wasn't it four or five?
Yeah.
I think it's four or five over there, right?
Yeah, but I'll talk.
Yeah, let's see.
I don't know if I plan for it.
I got a bet.
You make fun of me.
But again, I'm just gonna tossing the bed down.
Make these Pokemon happy, all right.
I have a chair with me, some stuff.
Got a table, okay, I think I'll be okay.
Here, toss down the plain chest, do you.
There we go, yeah, once you get the little,
the little jingle jangler, you're like, okay, cool, I can do this.
Then we can pull out and see who we got.
I went upstairs, nice to have two levels.
I know.
Very peculiar, very interesting.
I'm sure, you know, the people who are gonna
create, create, create out there, the psychos,
The people I'll be watching and Instagram favoriting.
I know.
The people that use those like side walls to build rooms within the rooms.
I'm always just so impressed.
I only put four people in this house.
Oh.
So yeah.
That's so interesting.
Cars are.
I do that.
Sorry.
Number one Pokemon fan.
Ben's been running today.
We've been doing a lot of play set stuff where Ben is playing Pocopio with Legos.
Oh, fine.
So Charmander is there.
Today Jen built Charmander volcano to live in.
Oh, that's fun.
I got your hand around the mind.
Got my boy squirtle over there.
Is he into this or is it like a little too slow?
It's not really a ton of engaging gameplay, I guess.
My son is amazing.
And for even being a four year old understands concepts bigger,
such as what an embargo is.
And that daddy needs to play this game without him.
So it was like, we had a good couple nights there with it,
Like Friday was the first day with it, right?
And it was like, perfect.
Here, come play this.
And we did it.
And then it was like, I think we played it had been on Saturday.
Or maybe it was like he woke up Saturday and I'd already moved on.
And I was like, listen, like, it's a, I got to review this.
I got to keep moving.
And he was like, oh, okay.
And so he hasn't been, let me see it, let me do it, let me blah, blah, blah.
And also the fact that, you know, during the week, video games are usually a treat.
So it's like he hasn't had that much, he hasn't actually played that many games.
at home to really be like, oh, wait, why am I not playing polcopia?
So we'll see now that the gloves are off
if he wants to be in it more,
or if he's just like, oh, cool, it's kind of gone.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, because I guess it wouldn't be,
it's doing chores, so I don't know if that's like a fun thing.
I mean, this is the fun thing, right,
of getting, let's go, let's go get them,
let's put down the habitats and get Pokemon to appear.
He was obviously super stoked that Evie was going to,
you know,
that Evie would eventually show up
and how to get her to go do that.
Yes, you have to be smelting.
I'm gonna grab all this out of there, I think.
You have the big smelter.
Ah, yeah, well, come on now.
Have you decided that this is like your main hub
for building and storing things or what is the land?
Yes, but it won't be permanent, I don't think.
Well, maybe it will be.
I'm eventually going to build something for all of this.
Okay.
I feel like, you know, there's such a utilitarian part of Pocopia,
where you start and it is about unlocking the next thing,
doing the next thing.
You know what I mean?
So it's about shoving them
and getting the Pokemon Center is up and running.
So Pokemon Center has to be here, correct?
Yeah.
Yeah, because I just want to make sure.
Yeah, that was already here.
And obviously, when you get to the other levels,
they're going to be there too.
Pokemon, I was able to put where I wanted
and everything else.
But it was like, all right, well, if I'm right here
and I'm doing it, I'm going to build this here.
But yeah, now I've kind of settled on.
This is where I built all my initial Pokemon habitats.
And so you still see lots of people are here.
Yeah.
I made these little leaf huts just to shove people in.
So now it really is that idea of like, okay, if we're going to make this into a town
and I'm going to make more houses like this, more cot, this is going to be the vibe for this place,
cottages, right?
Then it really does come down to you.
All right, let's get everybody out of these things over there to where they need to be,
bulldoze all of this, maybe have some flowers.
It's all the pathways and stuff like that.
Exactly, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But it's like, this is what I'm talking about, you know, today on Games Daily of the Marathon bit,
where it's like, okay, I love this game,
and I have now beaten it in credits of role,
we reviewed it, I have to move on to other reviews,
even though I just want to sit here and pour time and time and time into it.
So my thought really is going to be that,
I'm going to now take it biome by biome and just sit.
And so it'll be like, everlasting gobstopper here of,
let's get section number one to where I'm like,
you know what, I'm happy with that, and then move on to the next thing.
But again, with them, like, you know, next week dropping the first activity of three exclusive
Pokemon, I wonder how active it's going to be to get me back in and get me off where I
normally am.
So it's not just in my own one, right?
Because if you were to, like, I mean, minor spoilers for names, I guess, but it's out there already, right?
Like, you have all your homes that you can then jump to, right?
So the four biomes they give you in the game and then your area that is your, like, playground,
which, of course, I need to small.
Yeah.
So yeah, there's a lot going on, and I need to slow play it, and that's just not who I am.
You know that I'm the binge player, so it's like, I really think step number one is going to be, let's get all the Pokemon into homes.
Let's get homes built, and let's figure that out what that's going to look like.
Because, again, I like the idea of coming in.
Over here we have the ocean, right?
The wide open ocean.
Of like, okay, we have...
Wide open spaces.
We would make big mistakes.
where you can kind of come in
and town comes here and you come up here
and it just opens up into Pokemon Center.
I'm probably even like that.
You know, I want this to be dead on straight.
Kind of like Washington monument, like the mall kind of thing.
So I would imagine that I'm gonna go here
and just go straight through
and smash out to the water on that side.
But again, I'm talking about a lot of time,
a lot of effort, a lot of it's like,
I don't need to do it all right now.
I don't need to do it all right now, Joe.
I know, but you could.
I could ignore everything and do this all right now.
There's so much space, too, because there's, like, the other two sides and back, or do you want everybody right in front?
Ladies gentlemen and NBA, yeah.
So one of the things I've talked about about this game is how many games in one, I think it is, but then also how large it is.
So, again, as I just showed you, right, we're in Withered Wasteland.
You see the map over there on the left.
When you look over here again, now there's four versions, all different, different biomes, right?
But even that said, like, come with me.
All right, just go with me on a walk.
We're going on a tour.
This is again where we set up base camp,
we had a great time, whatever.
Then, you know, I did my Minecrafty waves
and smashed through this wall over here.
And then you just open up and it's like another even better town.
Where it's like, oh shit,
and they already had the thing up here
so I can get electricity going.
And it's like, oh no.
You know what I mean?
Like I, oh no, like this is what I thought was the,
it's kind of like a Futurama when Fry stays in Bender's apartment
and then Bender opens the closet,
but it turns out that's the real apartment.
Oh, yeah.
So it's like, oh, no, where it's like,
I have all this stuff over here to play with on this side.
You know, you jump over there.
I think, I don't know if I'm so unfamiliar with this side even, right?
Yeah.
Because on the other side, I'll, I'm going to fix this water.
Oh, yeah, you got to do this stuff.
Well, I did it, but I don't know what it's a.
Then we got, you know, you're mining into this section over here.
Oh, I haven't knocked down that gate yet.
Oh, yeah, I didn't have the right.
I don't have the food, I guess, I'm here right there.
Yeah.
Like, this cuts over here and you go.
Hmm.
But like this is the thing where it's like, I feel like there's, there is so much of this game that is unexplored.
And it's so crazy to think about the hundreds of hours of content that are here.
Like, you know, we talked about Jordan, talked to Jordan on the review of like, it was 130 hours, 120 hours.
He put up his thing today, it's 130 hours.
Like, it's crazy to look at that number and realize again, you're going to have so much more if you like this stuff and you want to commit to this stuff.
I think there's so much more here than Animal Crossing.
And that's not me knocking Animal Crossing.
I love Animal Crossing.
But when we're sitting here talking about what you're really about to get into,
like even this, again, I've played so many out, and I miss this because I didn't do any of this.
I didn't come through here, right?
That's crazy.
The story in this thing, so good.
So good.
I haven't finished it yet.
I told you already, I cried.
Yeah.
Yeah, you were here for it.
Jesus Christ, the ending of it?
So amazing.
So I texted Jen yesterday, or Slacked or whatever,
and I was like, I'm crying at the end of Pokemon Pokopi.
She's like, oh, my God, what happened?
And I wrote, like, listen, I don't want, I can, I give you the,
I'll tell you when we're together tonight because I won't do justice.
Made her cry telling her about it.
Oh, my gosh.
You know what I mean?
Granted, we're big softies or whatever.
But like, this game is so fucking cool and so fucking special, and there's so much to do.
Oh, God, damn.
Go get them to know.
Yeah, I need to go back and read.
a lot of these things, because oftentimes I'm, like, on a mission and I see what I'm just like,
get out of here.
I think it's so interesting, too, because so much of this world also reminds me of
Donkey Kong Bonanza in terms of, like, you can just endlessly pound and get cold.
Oh, sure, sure, sure, sure.
There's no real limit.
I mean, there are limits, but not really in terms of, like, what you can't go through.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
To, like, tunnel through everything, which was, like, the thing that got me stuck.
on Bonanza, I was like, what do you mean there's endless gold?
And I, this is gonna break my brain.
Yeah.
Yeah, the ability of what this game is
and how it works.
Powered up cut, right?
That doesn't come transfer.
Again, so much stuff I've done it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's just one of those of my casually carrying the food I need.
Yeah.
Again, I wish I could carry more stuff.
You can carry a lot, but I wish I had access to everything.
There's a few different things that, like, not quality of life, because I think it's all,
it's all good in the hood, but like, yeah.
Just little stuff like that, but I would love to know.
Yeah, I would love if all the boxes were connected.
Yeah, that's my biggest one, I think, because it's just annoying of like, okay, where did I leave?
And again, back to what I'm talking about with, all right, cool, I'm going to commit to this area.
That means I'm going to go to all those other ones and bring everything to me.
I'm like, okay, cool, let's get this set up the way I want it to be where it's actually,
just focused on this world.
Yeah, that's what I'm doing right now,
but I have my home base set up in another,
not this world.
So did you keep one home base,
or did you move all over the place?
I had home bases everywhere,
and then it was driving me nuts
that I couldn't figure out where anything was.
It was like, I know that I have a pencil cup somewhere,
and where did I put the stepstool?
And so I went through and moved a bunch of my stuff yesterday,
just because I couldn't take it anymore.
I can't take it anymore.
Yeah.
There was one thing where I was trying to get my habitats all done.
And I was like, I can't find it.
You were like, do the, oh, I want you to show me the printer thing
because I couldn't figure it out.
Oh, sure.
Let me do this real quick.
Yeah.
And so then I was like, forget it.
I'm done.
I'm bringing all my stuff together.
I had enough.
Yep.
Not doing this again.
But yeah, it's been very fun.
In a waterfall here, one of the powers you will unlock.
Perfect.
Now I got the water.
Go back on it?
Oh, I got it.
It's one of those, you know.
I thought this was fixed a long time.
All the little things where you're like,
I would assume that this is how it's set up.
Really, it's not.
Oh, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right.
So I actually just do this myself, right?
Because I need the water up.
I'm trying to break it down.
That's not.
Oh, you need to bring the-
Yeah, bringing the water up all the way rather than down.
I was going to say, I always have sand.
Again, something I meant to call it in the review that I don't think I actually think,
for as big as it is, being able to stack 99 or whatever is so nice
in terms of like, oh, cool, okay, you can put this all where you need it to me.
Yeah, I feel like, even though I was upgrading my stuff,
like my backpack and stuff pretty often,
I was surprised at how often I didn't have to deal with.
Yeah.
Loading and loading.
Yeah, totally, totally.
But, because they all, yeah, having four pages of inventory is also very generous at like
the max upgrade level.
Why does this hate you?
No, I mean, it's doing it, right?
D-dun-dun.
What is your, so is your next plane of attack to, like, get your town set up?
Are you trying to, and that, because I feel like mine is,
I want to get all of the habitat set up.
Yeah.
That's my plan of attack personally.
Town is my setup, yeah.
But that's the thing is I know how this is going to go,
is that I'm going to get distracted.
Yeah.
And that's what's been the best part and worst part of reviewing it, right?
It's just like, what about the shiny thing there?
What about that?
Just getting pulled from one direction to the other to the other to the other,
where it's like I really do want to fill the polka decks.
I really do want to build out that town.
So inevitably, I know I'm going to come over here and then get into,
where am I putting all these Pokemon?
Like I should be working again when you throw open
your Pocodex itself and look into your habitats, right?
It shows you what habitats you've found
and then yeah, if you've registered a Pokemon off of it.
So you see-
I love that the green circles tell you if they're done,
right off the green one tells you it done
and you click on this one right,
and it's like, okay, I still need to go over there
and get that one great out guy
that nobody can tell you who he is.
Same thing here, right?
Where it's like, okay, you gotta go build these
and make that so it's clear that I could go
do so much more work with him.
and get out there and then really fill out, of course, the overall polka decks here.
It's crazy.
Oh, you have so many more than I do.
Yeah.
Well, I think it's because, you know, I'm so, I'm like a little psychotic about when I see the,
oh, I should run over there and go, okay.
Ooh, hold on the out.
There's a mystery gift out.
I forget how to do mystery gifts.
You go in here right into this.
Where's the one we did for the online thing when we were trying that out?
No.
No, I think you have to go to the.
The poker center, you're right.
We'll do that and I'll show you a thing.
There's a ditto mat, bath mat or format or whatever
to go good.
They were talking about today in the article.
So anyways, yeah, my idea is to really, really double down
on making this look nice.
And I say just this section, really focus on this,
and then probably go to that other section.
Unless I figure out like, okay, cool.
That section's already got cool shit going on,
which I love.
So it's like, okay, cool.
Now I need to figure out where am I putting this,
Where is my actual workspace?
How do I want to hide all that stuff?
Yeah.
Oh, I wonder two.
I don't think I ever turn my review server off.
That's a problem.
That's getting a problem for me.
And we won't go into how to do that on camera.
That would get me in trouble, I'm sure.
Can you not just check mystery gifts with that?
But I think it's still pinging the review kind of servers or whatever, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I've got to go to that.
But if you are playing everybody, Mr. Giff, go there and get it with it, how you want it.
Okay, let's show you inside the post.
Center. Eventually, when you open the Pokemon Center here, you have a whole bunch of different
things. First off, new items every day from whoever's here. You have to have somebody who can work
the cash register. You come in here. You might say, well, what do you trade for currency and all this
stuff? I think it's very cute. I like it, too. You don't have currency in the game. Instead,
you just trade items. So you come in here and you need 2,000 points, basically. So you come
in and go, okay, well, what could I trade you for points? And you see that one of my barrels here is
300. A piece of twines, 10. What I usually use is honey,
Oh.
A hundred to pop, and I don't know about you, but I'm swimming in honey.
Yeah.
You build all the habitats, you get so much honey.
You can take honey to Vespa Quinn, right, and trade her three jars of honey per item she has
every day.
Yeah.
She has exclusive items that you get there or whatever, but you can only do that certain
amount for a day, so there'd be so many days I had like 40 jars of honey in
whatever here.
I just get put in a box.
Over here, of course, you can come here and heal your Pokemon like you will with
Nurse Joy.
Of course, you are a Pokemon.
So you rest and fill in all the bars you're using
for cut, for punch, for smash or whatever.
Because if you notice, yeah, your PeePee's refilled,
but you see that bar above rock smash down there
in the lower right.
But one of the things I think is cool is this.
So you have this 3D printer here, right?
In games like Animal Crossing, you might go visit somebody's island
or see something and think that's really cool
and they have to wait for the store to have that item.
With this one, you can go in here and take photos
of things you liked.
For instance, I like this stained glass window.
So I took a photo of that, right?
You come in now with the photo you've taken.
And when you're using your camera,
it tells you what your stained glass window upper.
It shows you what you're doing.
So then you take it, then you come over here
and you use Pocometele.
You go, okay, 3D print me one off of this.
Says oh yes, and gives you the item.
That is fucking awesome.
That's incredible.
If you wanna talk about really a,
hey, what are we doing here to be different
than a million of the other
Animal Crossing, cozy game sims, whatever.
Like that's such a nice way.
Now, you know, Poka metal there might sound like a hefty price.
It's not.
You're swimming in it.
Where do you get it?
The mines, the mines have it.
Okay.
I was like, why can I not remember?
The Pocke medal, they have gold, they have silver,
they have the mysterious blocks that don't even know what you do with.
Oh, the sparkly blocks.
Yeah, exactly.
Those are so fun.
That's the house that I want to live in.
I want to build it out of the sparkly block.
I had seen it earlier.
I think a lot of chats are coming through.
We're not having a chance.
Please keep asking the same questions if I don't get to it.
People are asking about, like, is there a post game?
The post game is the game, and is continuing to make habitats for Pokemon and fix up your towns.
Because you're not catching everybody and building all the habitats before.
Yeah, unless you're crazy.
Yeah, you could do that.
I don't know what Jordan Miller did, that psycho.
But yeah, you can go and do that.
That's the post game.
But as I said on KFGN today, no spoilers.
I think they set up the post game so well.
It's not changing, but they give you context for why you still do it.
Oh, that's very nice.
I like that, I like that.
Of course, we're talking about what you're doing in this game.
You build the habitats to get the Pokemon, to pop out, to be there, to then have, you know, various different reasons to be here.
We've talked about it before.
We should do one.
Drift Loon will take me to the Dream Island that I can go plunder for resources.
When you are doing stuff, you want like, obviously, fire Pokemon, right?
like our friend Charmander,
because of course you can come here and say,
hey Charmander, you know what?
Oh, yeah, I was gonna say, hold on.
I have squishy clay, I need you to make bricks
so I can leave the squishy clay with Charmander
who will breathe fire on it, make me 20 bricks
that I can then use for other stuff.
It's the same thing for, yeah.
When you go and put up these environments,
like you saw me reveal the house over there.
Yesterday I brought over like seven different Pokemon
to build that house and some of them
had very specific reasons to be there.
That's why it's, you know, you want a diverse selection
of Pokemon here to go do it,
let alone keep them happy to raise the level,
which is a different part of the game,
but we'll get there in a second.
Because I'm still trying to tell you the number of games
that are in it.
So obviously making the Pokemon appear,
so you collect the Pokemon, using them to go do stuff over there
and build out.
Then you have the Pokemon Center PC here, right,
where you jump in and you have your challenges
where you go, okay, do all sorts of stuff,
which is as simple as collect sticks,
gather twine, these are the dailies,
but then you come down here, right,
and it's like, okay, go find Pokemon, build stuff,
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera,
that gives you the points that you see up there
in the top right, that you can then go to the shop.
You have daily items here that are here,
I gotta get that pop art chair, I'll tell you that right now.
That ain't getting by me, that looks great.
Pop-art bed I have, yada, yada, yada,
round pillar recipe.
I try to buy all the recipes,
just so I have them and I can always craft them
if I want to.
Super Chat, not able to catch this live,
but I wanted to ask Greg his top five
favorite, oh, favorite, oh, if my top five
Pokemon's have changed after this list, I will die for
Ditto now. I love fucking Ditto.
I thought he was a creep before, a big old weirdo.
I love this little guy so goddamn much.
That's so cute.
So much right now. And also, you know,
doing this one and starting Leaf Green,
new respect for Squirtle. You know, I've always
respected him as an OG, but I was never an OG
so it's like, I don't know much about it.
Anyways, here's the rest of the stuff that goes
Yes, there's a lot of stuff for building.
I was going to say I might still have one here.
You also have these that are permanent upgrades to your Pee, so you can have more.
There's also item inventory upgrades and stuff like that.
You also see, like, there's stuff that's locked behind levels.
I'll show you when we get out of here, and of course, here come here by a big cottage or leaf house,
all the different, you know, building sets that I have.
City House, I think is my favorite.
But it's like I want to keep, I want to keep the biome separate.
Yeah.
I accidentally built some leaf.
stuff and not the leaf place.
Oh no.
What are you going to do?
I'm leaving it there.
Maybe at some point...
You're like, I ain't got time for this.
Maybe at some point I'll do the move
relocation thing. I haven't
done that at all. Yeah, I mean either.
I'm sure that's going to annoy me.
Why?
I just wish I could pick it up and move it.
I get it. But Animal Crossing
kind of did a nice thing. Remember where it was like,
oh, you've rolled credits. Now you can just
you can paint and do
stuff on the floors and whatever. I like
that a little bit.
I also, I guess I haven't tried bringing Pokemon from other biomes to live in different ones.
Yeah, I haven't either.
They followed me over, right?
And I was like, okay, cool, you can do that.
I would like to have all my faves together, maybe.
So you see environment level up there.
Five is like the story-based one where like Tangrobe wants you to get that before you really go on.
But, you know, you can move on at your whim whenever you want.
to and run it. So you see how the Pokemon are feeling today, what they're doing.
Obviously, the idea is that I'm supposed to go up to them and ask them, how are you doing?
What, here, go over here.
Let's say, hey, onyx. What's up, man?
I just changed my outfit. Before you came here, I was still a sailor.
I don't want to be a sailor. It was just whatever. You ask them what their comfort level is.
They want a decoration, right? And so then I take a decoration to their house, and that makes them happy.
And it goes up, and then the environment level goes up.
You know, when we first started doing this, and even, you know, like I was telling you before,
you know, it's, the story is really get them to five or whatever for, like, you know, what TAN Growth wants for a major quest.
But then on the daily items, there's usually one locked behind level 20.
Yeah.
Like, God damn.
All right.
So there's a lot.
There's a lot to do in this game, right?
Like, I need to go do.
Yeah.
I'm taking the shot that I have the decoration in here.
I often do have a decoration.
I know.
I feel like you always end up with like something on one of the pages.
What are you doing with all your CDs?
I hate that I don't have like good.
I give him to DJ Rotom.
He loves him.
You can only have five.
I know, I know.
So then as you can see, I'm just sitting on a bench.
Stop bunch hanging out here.
I'm like, I don't know what to do with this.
I would have, I usually have a reef on me, but not today.
Not today.
Tragic.
We'll be back.
We'll make him happy.
Millsville the Wye says, is there storage in this game like Animal Crossing?
There's storage in it in this game, like Animal Crossing, with the chests.
Storage like your home, where you can just go in and drop shit?
No, there is not that.
You can also just drop shit on the ground.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'll switch up.
It's so interesting to see what things you have that I don't have yet.
Again, I feel like it was, I know how much,
I actually don't know how much interior decorating is going to speak to me in this game.
That's never my thing for Animal Crossing or like any sim game.
Yeah.
With the Animal Crossing update in the hotel rooms, it did inspire me to be like,
oh, this is fun.
And so I went and did Happy Home and started really screwing around with all that.
But then, of course, I knew that this was going to come.
And then here we are.
But with the amount of houses, I really don't know if I'm going to get into the weeds of doing it.
I'm way more interested in making the outside of everything look good.
I agree.
And there's not like a ton of furniture.
that I'm like in love with.
Yeah.
So obviously there's like a lot to play if your stuff is locked behind level 20.
Yeah.
So I'm hoping that that's a part of it that they'll keep expanding.
And I imagine they will with like the events and stuff that they have planned.
But I don't, yeah, feel particularly inspired and there's not like a huge range, especially compared to how many you have to set up.
Yeah.
As you play the game, you dig out very Animal Crossing.
very animal crossing, you ask fossils and artifacts
that you have to come show the professor here.
He'll then tell you what human artifacts you found.
Mystic water.
Can we go see your Pokemon art when you're done?
You can, I'm gonna tell you I'm disappointed.
I still don't have anybody working there.
Oh.
And it's one of those of like, I threw that down
thinking that was going to be a big, like, oh,
I'm gonna do this and it'll all populate
like the Pokemon Center did.
And it didn't.
And I'm like, oh, and it was in the middle of the review.
I asked Midler, like, what's going on?
He's like, well, you have to have somebody who has the merchant or trade skill.
And I was like, I get that.
And I don't know if it was this smart.
It might have been the other one.
But one of the people I had had the cash register on them.
So I don't understand.
But I think it's just I need more Pokemon.
I need somebody.
We'll run in there, but it's just barren.
There was nothing in there.
Which was a bummer.
But again, then when I found out it wasn't what I needed
because I was looking for a very specific item.
Yeah.
And he's like, that's not even where you get that.
I'm like, okay, okay, okay.
But yeah, I mean, I haven't even moved the table
from the habitat, you know, I'm just...
You're just throwing stuff down.
But I think, yeah, it's still, yeah, nobody's in here.
He's there, but he's not, like, there's nothing going on, right?
I think he's just trapped.
Interesting.
That's so weird.
I guess we'll find out.
I know, we'll have to wait and see how it goes, yeah.
I assume it would just have the counter with, like, items, like...
Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be, yeah,
when I was talking to me...
Like, this one over here doesn't have electricity.
I was like, oh, maybe that's part of it,
but again, one of the other ones,
I put electricity over by it, and I didn't do it.
Yeah.
I was like, huh, huh.
Hmm.
But again, it was like, I don't have time to worry about that.
It's a review.
Yeah.
Ugh.
The electricity thing is what makes my biomes, like, truly a disaster.
Oh, really?
Just poles everywhere.
Yeah, yeah.
So, like, they have electricity.
Did I have it?
Oh, it was the other one we saw over there.
Let's jump to the second biome.
I will go to Bleach Beach.
You can see it.
I find the electricity so ugly.
Yeah, it's not cute.
I was hoping we would get a, oh, here you go.
This is how it's going to beam wirelessly or put the wires underground.
It's like, nope, you just have these giant fucking poles.
They're not even cute.
No, I agree 100%.
I would like to see them fix that.
There's a bit of the rustic charm to it because, of course,
what the fucking Pokemon know about running electricity?
Like, I get that, but it's like...
Yeah, that's very much the...
In the world we just came from, but very much like, I don't care.
Yeah. Like Bleak Beach story-wise, you have to go and get...
Oh, Pokemon. There's a Pokemon on that trash can everybody. Let's go find him.
Who are you?
Who are you? Who are you?
How many different Pokemon are in the game?
Yeah, who knows? I don't know.
I have no idea.
Yeah, I already had, you know, um, trubbish, so I guess I don't know what I was expecting here.
Who else were coming out of the trash, but there is...
Yeah.
What was his trash, then?
Out of the decks.
You know, you look at specialties here of recycling and litter and stuff that they can do for you, right?
Of like, you can hand them stuff.
Do I have?
I thought I might even have waste paper on me.
Like a note?
No, shit.
Oh, no, there I do. I have 22 of them.
Ooh.
You have a Q-bone yet?
No, I saw what I need to get them, but I haven't done it yet.
Make some paper.
Missing Link says it's crazy how many systems are in the game.
It's so much more complex than I thought it would be.
100%.
which is why during that,
Pokemon Presents, me and Tim reacted to,
I was like, this might be the game's worst show.
I was already playing at that point, I couldn't say it.
I was like, this might be the game's worth showing.
I'm like, this made it look in.
I understand different audiences,
but it made it look like such a kid's game.
Where it's just like, why, I don't know.
I would look at that, I'd be like, I'm not playing that,
but I understand that I've been up to date on everything everywhere.
As you saw when I came here, I unlocked challenges just because I don't fully got,
they tried to explain in the very beginning,
but I think it is that every PC has its own thing.
but I think in terms of challenges,
but I think they're tracking things you do
outside of just your...
Yeah.
It's very, like, it wants you to go check in everywhere.
Here you'll see I have everybody,
I'm still short these two guys,
so I need to make more Pokemon habitats.
Well, scroll over to them.
Because you don't need...
Or you don't need specific ones,
I think, I think, if you have anybody with those two.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, no, no.
Oh, do you not have anybody with those specialties?
On this world.
Oh, interesting.
Could you bring the other ones over?
Maybe.
But again, it's like, I have other poca centers open, so it's just like, I haven't worried about it.
This one very much, I don't know if it'll impress you, but I've worried about refixing all the roads here.
All the bridges were fucked up here and I was like, I hate this.
I hate that just hitting it once breaks it and there's no way to fix it without taking it out and putting it back in.
That's just annoying to me personally.
Oh, we've got another building to review.
Oh, there's new person.
Lots happening in my world, everybody.
I love this fucking game.
Just if that hasn't been clear,
I love this fucking game so much.
I'm so interested in what the multiplayer is going to be too.
Yeah, we can try it.
We could.
You can do that.
Chat, if you want to boot up yours too.
Well, we probably can't because we probably both have to be out of the reviews.
I could pop it out and fix the server thing real quick,
just so nobody sees what we're doing.
And see, here's another one I don't fully get, right?
I'm sorry, what was that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
These ones build with furniture.
Did you notice that?
Yeah.
What's up with that?
Why does it all the other houses I do?
I think it's, is it not based on size?
But the big one I just built, right?
Nothing.
I guess,
who back here?
New Pokemon.
Who are you?
I rogue.
Is the way to undo that thing?
It's in that document I sent you.
I think it's the exact same way
and we just enter in a different word.
Okay.
But I don't even remember what the same way.
I was like, I couldn't tell you.
You hold some buttons.
If memory serves.
Yes.
Complicated.
Why you gotta go.
Dean says, Greg, have you played much more
Fire Redder, Leaf Green, or has that been on the side
because of Pocopi and other reviews?
Sorry if I missed any of me.
No, you have not missed anyone else.
Asked me that question.
I have seen it on the subreddit,
and the Patreon, Greg Way questions.
I've seen it, too.
No.
Sadly, I played Leaf Green with Tim on launch day,
and then was right back to play in as much Pocopy
as possible for review.
and now I am on to Crimson Desert for reviews.
So sadly, this is the job.
It's an amazing job that I love.
Thank you for giving it to me.
But no, I have not had time to get back to that.
I still want to.
Loved it.
But I imagine at this point I'd probably...
I'd probably understand where I'm at
in terms of doing it, so I'd want to do it.
Oh, here we got a quiz.
Let's raise our friendships here.
Here goes.
What zoo bat's most favorite thing?
Hard stuff or nice breezes.
He flies.
Kevin Yale sonar from the other room.
would agree with the hard stuff for nice breezes is the question though I'm gonna say nice breezes he flies that's right
I guess you can't I guess you can't I guess you can tell these things huh dodo yeah I can't
Here's your prize for doing such a good job. What did I get and our friendship went up I got a carrot
Love a good carrot. There's breeze yeah. Oh he could see through it you're thinking too hard. I appreciate that answer. I understand who we got
Who we got? Boom. I'll get this Pokedex filled out folks. It's happening. Tutt tut
Oh, he likes the tuts.
Blaster Gobble says,
I have yet to hear someone explaining exactly what you do in this game.
Is it Animal Crossing?
Does it have quests?
What the hell is this game?
Did you just walk in?
I've been explaining the whole thing,
Blaster Goblin.
What do you mean?
You don't understand it.
There's a storyline here of you coming
and then trying to bring Pokemon back to the world.
And, of course, the professor thinks that if you
help bring the Pokemon back to the world
and the Pokemon help rebuild the world,
the humans who are missing will come back.
Where are the humans?
You'll have to play to find out.
Yes, there are quests.
There are, like, individual Pokemon quests.
There are, like, world or biome quests,
and then there are some, like, bigger things
that kind of are just general big game things,
which I have not finished yet.
Moreno says, there's a story question mark?
There is a story, and it made me cry.
I just love Ditto so much now.
I know.
I was really hard on the, like, character style,
but it's thrown on me.
Yeah, yeah.
Me Too. I was watching people react to it.
I was like, oh, I remember this, feeling that way.
I forgot why we originally came here.
We came here to complain about the power lines.
Oh, yeah.
See these things.
Like, I just, I don't look at that.
That's ugly.
It's like, you know, it's like the sunset here,
which I never noticed until Jen called out.
Like, the sunset's so ugly.
San Francisco, the sunset.
Oh, got it.
Because of the thousands of power.
And I'm like, well, as soon as she did that,
I was like, why did you make me see that?
Yeah, now you can't un-seed-seed-seed-y-it.
I've never noticed that from living in
the sunset and you've now ruined it where every time I look down the road, I just see line,
line, line, line.
What gameplay is better, Pocopi or Dreamlight Valley?
Great question.
Joey can answer.
They're different.
I think that there are, I mean, Dreamlight Valley has a much wider array of items and stuff like that.
I think it's more fun there.
I don't love the quests as much as I like them in here
I think because with the expansions all coming together
sometimes the story feels like a little bit more broken up
and it's hard to catch up on everything
but the like cooking and the crafting and stuff
I think might be Dreamlight Valley
just because they have so many more options for things you can make and buy
and this is pretty limited.
So a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.
Joey, do you want to show your island or do you want to do some multiplayer?
Let's do some multiplayer, because my island's not that different than yours.
We will, of course, do some multiplayer and check that out right after we tell you, of course, about patreon.com.
com slash kind of funny games, Apple and Spotify, you go over there, pick up the Kind of Funny membership,

we call Greg Way and you'd get good karma for supporting an 11-person, 11-year-old small business.
But right now you're not using your benefits, so here's a word from our sponsor.

Well, I show the entry so I can spell what I'm doing.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, sometimes with the passwords, you just go in blind and you hope that you press the right buttons in the right way.
Evan G says,
oh, that's not the right person,
sorry Evan G, Ken Jr.
Have either you played the DQ Builder series?
I have.
Shockingly, I have, and I've talked about it,
and the Vita and yet, yada.
I don't remember it well,
but I remember playing it,
enjoying enough of it, blah, blah.
And if somebody asked the other day
if I had ever played it,
it was like, not condescending,
but kind of condescending it.
And I was like,
I'm just going to Google it.
It turns out, yeah, there's a gamescast review
that's me, Tim, and Colin.
And I was like, oh, so we did cover this enough
that, like, I...
You played it, played it.
Well, it's because it's one of those funny things
right where...
Why is this just a black screen?
No, that's doing something, right?
You have to turn it off.
There it is.
No, no, I already did that.
I already did that.
I already did that.
I was a...
This is such a deep cut that nobody would know.
Tim and I did a gig at GameStop
Managers Expo. And Nick and Colin were there too. But it was that one of the things Tim and I did
specifically, because one year we ran their live stream or whatever, and another year we did like
breakout room. Yeah, and me and Tim did the breakout room. Maybe it was the same year, it doesn't
matter. We did a breakout room for Square Annex. And so what it was is that like six times
over two days. So like six, it's 12 total. We would do the presentation and talk about
all their games, there was like a script and a presentation.
And one of them was this rant I did
every time about Dragon Quest Builders
coming to Vita. And so like,
before I knew Dragon Quest
as like a player now, because I play it
and enjoy it, like the Dragon Quest
song I knew from Dragon Quest
Builders being pumped into this one thing
while I told GameStop managers, nonstop, is like
outrageous of what was happening? That's such a
funny connection.
Who are you going to get? Someone good,
someone wet? Oh.
Someone wet.
They're in the water!
You're right, no!
I understand.
It's just that funny way to say it.
I don't consider Merrill wet, but I don't actually know anything about Pokemon, so.
You're living in the water, you gotta be wet, you know?
Water, fair and type.
I guess so.
The oil-filled-tail functions as a buoy, so it's fine, even in rivers and strong cards.
Are you want to try multiplayer, Joe?
Yeah.
Do you want to, what do you want to do?
You want to come to my alley?
You want to go do a thing over there?
You want to, what do you do?
I'll come to your...
Let's see what coming to your...
island looks like. We're coming to America.
Actually, yeah. Oh no, I can do it over it. We're coming
to America. Well, I want to, now I want to get my free
ditto rug too before I forget. I'm also so interested because I got
Merrill what feels like really early. So I wonder
if they spawn in specific ways.
Obviously by the biomes and the habitats, but
I wonder if it's orange.
for who spawns first.
Okay.
Yeah, loading in.
I think this is one of my...
Oh, no, I think the third biome is my favorite.
I like aspects of the fourth one,
but I really hate other aspects of it.
I have a lucky day.
That's exactly.
Okay.
Sorry, I'm also getting my rug.
No, you do the right thing.
Folks at home, if you want to come join,
there'll be two extra spots.
So as long as you let Joey get in first,
which with the delay should be easy enough,
as long as Joey is ready when I do it.
Come on and join us.
Come hang out.
Is it a friend online?
The code?
Yeah.
Inviting others to visit your world.
You can invite other players
in your town a show of us.
Other players can also help you develop your town.
Okay.
How do you want to connect?
Online connect.
We could have done local, but it's more fun for you
to come jump in.
Display the link code, yes.
Players, yes.
All right.
I'm not worried about, but I can't touch it.
So here we go.
Here comes your code, Joe.
Do do do do do do do do.
I hope it works.
Online for the first time.
Because I'm interested in what I would be able to do
if it's like Animal Crossing or not.
MM-M-M-9 W-53.
Like can I harvest stuff?
Can I use my ditto powers?
On your island, how does this work?
I'm interested right now.
No, he's coming to visit.
Great.
So closing the connection kicks you out.
Like, if I hit B, what's going to happen?
Okay, okay, great, great.
I'm on my way to Bleak Beach.
Somebody earlier asked if you're more drawn
to play this or leaf green
when you have spare time.
There she is!
It's me!
Hello!
I like that I get to run around
like the kids and weapons.
Finally get to use all these little emojis.
That's a great question.
Ooh, I can order stuff from your shops.
Oh, that's cool. That's real good.
I feel like I'm more drawn to play this,
because I've already sunk so much time in it.
There's so much still to do.
Leaf Green I like, but I've also played several Pokemon at this point.
So it's like, it's a fun throwback to what
it is now, but I mean, I'd rather play winded waves, and I also always can double back and do
Scarlet and fill out my decks and yada, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's a million things I could go do.
There's also something to be said about, like, the zeitgeist of the new game.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which is just a little bit more fun, especially as everybody's discovering stuff and playing,
and I'm sure people are unlocking cool things that I didn't know existed.
Yeah.
Now, can you get in your bag?
No.
Interesting.
Bringing multiplayer over is just hanging.
We're just running around.
Well, that's not as fun.
That's not as much fun.
I guess I can talk to your Pokemon, but I don't know.
That doesn't really do anything.
Oh, invite Pokemon you meet while visiting other players' towns,
and they might come and visit your town one day.
I guess if you had Pokemon that I really wanted,
I could come invite them.
I don't remember who I have or I don't have you.
Come hang out with me,
next time.
Hold on Joe, come take a photo thing.
Oh, that's better.
I don't know how to change my expectations.
Yeah, I don't know how you do it in your room.
Maybe that.
Perfect.
Yeah, we go.
We're killing it.
We crush it, everybody.
Good timing.
Okay, well, that's not as exciting.
Yeah, this kind of sucks, though.
It's like, I mean, I thought we're going to get to keep building and doing stuff.
Let's try doing a cloud island.
Okay.
I'd set one of those up a long time.
Ooh, okay.
Here, what happens if I close the connection?
I think you just think you're not, right?
Wow, yeah.
The host is about the closest.
Please finish whatever you might be doing.
But I can't even do anything.
You know, running around, seeing things.
Yeah.
Cool.
And then the same thing for you, everybody.
I'm going to open this up.
You can, I have a kind of funny island that we named
that I've never done anything on.
If you come and join us, feel free to come enjoy this.
Yeah.
Get ready to, Joe.
They play a cloud island.
I'm still getting kicked out.
Oh, you're still getting kicked out.
I'll wait, because I don't know what's gonna see, show, do right away.
Okay.
Coming to America.
That's not what I want to do.
You gotta go to the PC room.
It's okay.
It should be on your polandex, I agree.
Sometimes I just forget.
There's so many buttons.
Yeah, 100%.
Go to a previously visited clubbed.
There you go, kind of funny, older Ben.
Okay, and we have three visits.
You are the only.
We like to change this, I think.
No, depart with the current setting.
You can't confirm the address, link, PC.
Here we go to the cloud, let's see what this is all about.
Duke says, would you recommend this game is a good reason to get a Switch 2?
Buying a system for any one game is silly.
That's a lot of money for anything.
However, I adore my Switch 2.
I've only been playing my Switch 2 this year, as you all know.
It's been a joke slash a real thing.
I love this fucking thing.
So I think you are eventually going to get a switch to.
I'm always worried it might cost more money
as the world continues to be the world.
So I would definitely say, hey, oh.
This a little, this Pocodex, oh, oh, oh.
Oh, that's kind of fun.
Oh, yes, ditto, thank you.
Then let me go in here and then Joe and share the island.
There you go.
9xL-P-N-G-Y-9.
Everybody, feel free to join us if you're
You're here.
You're eventually going to get one.
It might be more money, and I think
I would never
buy a system, with the exception to when I bought
an S&S just for Mario World, to buy
just one game. This game's
fucking awesome. So, like, yes,
I think you are well within
reason to buy this and start
your Switch World, your Switch Journey,
with it. Hold on.
Shops on Cloud Islands. You can also
buy items for Cloud's PC. They'll purchase
items can't be brought back to your world.
You'll still remember any recipe you learned.
Oh, interesting.
So you can craft those items even if you'll do.
Okay.
Seems kind of foolish.
Yeah, especially if you have any interest in wind and waves.
Is that what it's called?
Yeah.
Or, like, something down the line that you know you're going to buy one.
It's always the juggling act, right, of like, well, what if they, you know...
A special.
Better battery.
This, that, the other, X, Y, and Z.
Like, I get all that.
Or, like, I'll always be sad that I didn't buy the Animal Crossing Switch one.
I was just...
We already had it.
I know.
I was like, it's not a responsible thing to buy.
Yeah.
I was so close multiple things.
I know. I'm glad I did it.
I got kicked out again.
Oh no, no.
Bring it back.
I also might have timed out because I forgot to press confer.
Dude, the amount of times this game, like,
are you really, really sure?
I'm like, yeah, do the thing I asked you to do.
Whoopsies.
There you go.
9xL, P and G.N.G. Y, 9.
P N G.G.Y. 9.
Uh, Mark, Mark and G.
That's not the, oh, you, that's the address, not the link code, though.
Oh.
All right, you ready?
Yeah.
X5D F52.
Sorry, everybody.
We're learning it together.
X5D.
F52.
F52.
I was like, why are there not enough spaces?
Marking Gas says, Greg, as you played Resident Evil 9 on the Switch,
are you going to try other games like Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Progmata on the Switch?
Baxter's coming.
They beat you already, Joey.
Great question.
Monster Under Stories, I did play the demo on Switch.
If I pick that back up, I would play here.
But I don't think I'm going to.
Like the demo, I was like, okay, this isn't exactly
what I'm looking for, and I'm so into this,
and then the other games that are coming,
are coming so quickly that I just don't think I have time
for that JRP in my life.
And then...
That's nice that it doesn't give you like a loading screen.
Yeah, because no game should, Animal Crossing.
As much as we love the scenic view.
No other multi-player game does that Animal Crossing.
You know what I mean?
This much as we love the scene.
we love the scenic view of the islands.
It's a major...
Pered off. It sucks. Don't do that.
And so then Pragmata,
one of the things about Animal Crossing in the...
I'm sorry, the things about
Resident Evil were that, you know,
we went and got to do demos of that.
Oh, sorry, you're taking a photo, hold on.
Let me get a...
Yeah, let me do a celebrate pose there for you.
I'm making biome, or I'm making...
Yeah, we gotta get this polka-dex,
you know, and go.
Yeah.
Anyways, we had previews with Resident Evil where Blas was like,
yo, this looked awesome.
Pragmata, am I wrong?
Did Bless play it on Switch?
And he wasn't impressed with it.
So I'm more hesitant than to be like, yeah, I'm going to do that there.
That feels like maybe one I do either on my PlayStation or on my,
is it Xbox play anywhere?
I still do that.
So whatever.
Yeah, I don't, I'm still, I don't know what I'll do for Pragmaton.
But I am open to it if it runs.
Oh, sure.
Are you gonna, Shadow Twixer?
Twix.
Shadow Trickster.
Are you gonna play mixtape on Switch?
Absolutely the fuck not.
That trailer did not look good on Switch.
Ooh, yeah.
Solid performance says more, okay.
People Feeder says, I've seen comparisons to Minecraft.
Is there any combat?
No, no combat.
Which I like, personally.
That's not what I'm looking for out of it.
Yeah, it's definitely not survival.
I know Pokemon's battling, so like you can make an argument before being there, but that's not.
Yeah.
No, just let me live my island life and not be scared of getting blown up by a creeper or killed by a skeleton.
No, thank you.
Do I have?
Okay, I do have all my habitats here.
Um, well, let's see.
I want to catch the flowers.
Christoph says, why are you playing third-party games on Switch?
Well, I, again, just played Resident Evil on Switch, and it was awesome.
And it was so nice to take it back and forth from the bedroom to the gym.
TV to the office to the wherever I was playing.
That was great.
Granted, yes, I could do that with my Rog ally as well.
But as you know, sometimes things aren't optimized
for the Rog ally and so you have a problem.
Yeah, I haven't really played too much on my switch.
Other than tiny bookshop.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, I played that on PC.
Is this your life from here and out Joe?
Yeah, it's definitely the thing that I'm picking up
like every night.
Yeah.
I think at least until, well, I still have to finish the game.
But at this point, I'm not even really focused on that as much as catching everything.
And right now it's putting together all the habitats.
And trying to source all the items because some of them are very specific.
And there's a couple of things that I've only been able to find, like, one place.
So if you can't remember where that is, especially, like, early in the game when I wasn't really paying attention to that.
Sure.
You didn't even understand that.
Like, why would I need to remember where this, like, very specific mirror is?
Yeah, yeah.
So now I'm kind of trying to double back and find those things and just keeping them in a little chest.
So I can finish all of those.
I think that's kind of some of my fun.
And then once I have those, then I have at least the ability to catch all the Pokemon,
and then I start worrying about moving people out of habitats.
Yeah, yeah, it is.
I have a lot of work ahead of me.
That's all I know.
We all do.
We all do.
Yeah, this is going to be a game worth checking in, like, in six months.
What have we all done in a year?
What are you doing?
Let alone, again, the excitement of them supporting it with events.
I really did not expect them to be like, oh, we're doing these limited run, you know,
limited time Pokemon events where you can go get the certain Pokemon out of.
Like, damn, that's really cool.
Yeah, I assumed we were going to get as much support as we got for Animal Crossing,
which was not much.
Yeah.
Though I guess, like, the first year they did.
Yeah, it's like you had like the events of it, but even those, those didn't feel like alive.
I don't know.
No.
Who wanted Bunny Day?
Nobody wanted Bunny Day.
Oh, eggs everywhere.
He's probably back, isn't he?
I haven't checked in.
I know winter's over.
Oh, that's actually a reason for me not to log in.
Key C.J. Smile says, how's the soundtrack?
Very chill.
It has that, I think there's more vibes here, but in that first world, it was very Minecrafty.
And it was me falling asleep at times too.
And I'm just like, damn, this is putting me down
because it is just a, let's go chillax gate.
I always play mine on mute
because I'm usually watching something.
And you never played on TV, right?
You play it in a handheld whole way.
Yeah, I never dock my switch.
Which we thank you for us.
Like we use your dock, it kind of funny, but.
It's fine. You guys bought me a new charger
so that I could leave everything here,
and I'll take it.
That's all I really need.
Jaffrey says, will this fill the animal crossing shaped hole all that weight?
Yes.
100%.
For sure.
I don't, it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to like do everything,
the like 100% completionist run.
Yeah.
Because I will say there's like not that much, like there is an end game for this in a way that like.
What, having all the habitats?
Yeah.
Yeah, okay, I see me.
Like, well, I guess.
If they keep adding.
Pokemon. Yeah. That would be like the, you know, that. You could always decorate and change some stuff.
Yeah. I was like, I guess it's the same thing with Animal Crossing where like you get to a point where you, there's not a whole lot else to do.
Unless you decide you want to like redecorate or something. But I think that there's a long ways until I have to worry about that.
Yeah, a thousand percent, right. And again, we'll be interested to see if they've, you know, learn that lesson from Animal Crossing. Yeah.
well people will stay here forever if we give them more and more stuff.
Yeah.
I wonder about, yeah, DLC and what else?
And it seems like it would be not that hard to keep new items coming in.
Yeah.
On the store and stuff like that too.
This area is like much bigger than I thought it would be.
I don't know why.
This island thing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think it's outrageously big.
But again, you know, it's interesting of what are you doing?
doing, you know, Mike was asking me this today on the show,
like, well, what do we do here?
I guess, yeah, like, if I discover people over here,
I'll fill out my polodex.
Mm-hmm.
Even though they won't be in my world,
which is interesting, right?
Because that'd be an easy, easy way to,
if we were all committed to really going through
and nailing this.
Yeah.
Get your Pokemon that way.
I wonder if one person finds it
if it unlocks for everybody on this airway?
I would think so, right?
Oh, but there is the cloud polodex.
It's only for...
I guess they are a lot on lock here.
That is a bummer.
Well, I guess I'm gonna say.
It would be fun to just come here and mind shit,
but I guess that's what the Dream Islands are for.
Yeah, yeah.
Something I always forget about.
Do you go to the Dream Islands a lot for stuff or no?
A lot, no.
But again, I think that's such a specific,
okay, I need, like, now that I'm into,
I wanna go create this stuff.
So if you didn't know everybody,
These dolls here, you can collect in-game, but you can get them here, obviously, too.
You can't take it with you.
But you put this down, and then you can call Drifluen, who will then take you to a Dream Island, based on one of these.
It will tell you what resources are over there before you go.
So you could lay down all five of these, for instance, go up, be like, well, I'm really looking for iron ore, find one that says iron ore.
Then you could go off, get the iron ore, come back, deposit it, and then all day long go back and forth for no fee or anything like that.
So it's just like way yeah to go off and really get what you need and want out of your building thing.
And since I haven't been building like that, I haven't had to worry about it.
I'm gonna have to do that for gold and poca metal.
This weekend I feel like it's gonna be my go to.
I'm also not one that has like a vision for like building out an island like this from scratch.
Yeah.
So I don't know that this would eat to me a ton, other than, yeah, using it to catch Pokemon.
Lunchbox in the chat says Pokemon Popopia is $100 here in Canada.
Would you count it as a worthwhile purchase at that price?
Mileage varies for each and every one of you on what you value, what you make, yada, yada, yada, and all that stuff.
For me, Greg Miller, if I did not work here even, I would say yes.
I think again, we're talking about I'm 35 hours in plus now, credits rolled, and all I want to do is play this.
And there is so much more to do.
I think when we talk about games and where you're going to burn out and get blah, blah, blah, blah.
Like, there's a lot of different conversations there, and everybody's different, and I'm not trying to take away from that.
Like, I just can't foresee a world where I don't easily put 100 hours into this.
And that's coming back, obviously.
You know how hectic our schedules are for playing.
other games, like coming back and whatever, but like, yeah, like, I'm gonna be here.
I'm gonna be playing this game, so it really is.
This is like, for sure, my persistent game.
Yeah, always keep it on your switch, be ready to go.
But again, if that's not you for some reason, if that's not what you want to do, I get it.
And it's also like, how big of a Pokemon fan are you?
Like, if you're kind of meh on it, then I might not find it as in Joy.
But as someone who doesn't really care about Pokemon, and it's not.
never played like a mainline game.
I have a lot of fun with it.
Oh.
And it does make me excited to play wind and waves.
Oh yeah?
Which I think I'm going to play.
Have you ever done a regular Pokemon?
No.
Mm-mm.
Only snap.
Hell yeah, Joe.
But, well, and I think the aesthetic of it is like very fun and way more my vibe than any of the recent ones that have come out.
Sure, sure, sure.
Give me all the island goodness.
You got me with Animal Crossing, you know?
Yeah.
Well, I was asking Tim, you know, on the stream, like,
why is everything island themed?
You know what I mean?
Like, come on.
He's like, have you ever been to Hawaii?
I'm like, no, he's like, that's why.
You've never been to Hawaii.
Never been to Hawaii.
We talk about it a lot.
We have so many direct flights from us.
I know, no, it's easy to do.
I just never did it.
Got to add it to the fan vacation list.
You know, instead, Ben picked New York.
We're going to New York.
You gave him, like, did you give him carte blanche?
Yeah.
And he picked New York.
That's when you're taking care of goal.
No, I know.
I just didn't know that that was Ben motivated.
Oh, yeah, Ben.
We're like, where do you want to go for spring break, Ben?
And like, you know, let him pick it.
He's like, New York.
I want to see the Ghostbusters Firehouse and Spider-Man.
We're like, all right, let's go.
That's going to be so fun.
Yeah, it's going to be crazy.
I've never, I've never gone to New York for fun.
I've gone for work, obviously, a bunch.
Like I've had fun, but I've never gone with like,
wake up, have a couple of calls.
What are we doing?
Where are we going?
We started putting all the museums down and like making Ben making, but like we,
I think this started when we were watching Home Alone for, obviously lost in New York, for Christmas.
And it was like, what if we did that?
And it was like, we started making like the Google Maps list of all the places to go and things to see.
Joey, I swear to God.
What?
It's like clockwork that whenever I get to the final corner, I run out of PC.
You know what I mean?
Like, what hell?
How does that happen?
It's a gift that you have.
Oh, man.
I don't be fun.
New York's so fun.
Yeah, April.
That should be a good time.
I still got to hit up an Asian-M.
I want to get a tour for him.
I've been, obviously, of Marvel HQ, all that jazz.
I'd love a great time.
Jen, not somewhat.
No, I'm kidding.
Holby with you.
Have a great time.
Oh, he will.
And I think Katie's going to be gone, so I think
it'll be Wesley too
I'll just get to be buds
that's so funny that he wants to go
like am I surprised
that your son wants to go
to the Ghostbusters
house? No, not at all
but I do think it's funny that it
it was a defining thing
we're jumping rope as a group everybody
let's lock in
well
that's fun
not super
coordinated.
Screen capture there.
Oh, I got four piles of star, that's nice.
Ooh, have you figured out what to do with that?
I want to say I remember recipe coming up, but I don't.
Because I have some of it, but I have not.
I didn't know if it was like a get there.
Sure, sure, sure.
Kind of thing.
Endgame.
Now, I will point out that this games cast play is just turned into a stream.
I will acknowledge this is the editorial product
we're supposed to keep talking,
but we're just having a great time.
You know what I mean?
How long have we even played?
It's been a long time.
Joey and I have not been able to play this together.
We have not been able to play with you the audience.
We have people from the audience playing with this right now.
So I don't want to,
I don't want a lot of people giving me crap about it.
All right?
I'm just having a good time.
We put it up on the feeds.
We did a really good job at the beginning,
if I do say so myself.
And then eventually when we get to the multiplayer part, maybe.
That's when we drifted off.
We just started playing, having fun.
Ooh, can we do this? We can do that? We can jump rope together?
All right, yeah, sure.
I want to, oh, maybe I'll go down here.
Jump 04 says this will be Greg's most played game to year easily.
Yeah, probably.
I think this will be the one I come back to over and over again with skate on the wane.
We'll see how long that's all around and whatever, but like, yeah.
I think you're going to put more hours into this than GTA?
I think yes, based strictly on how much time we have with it, right?
Where it's like, if it was, oh, okay, cool, you know, GTA's coming out next month,
then maybe there's a different conversation there.
Yeah.
But right now with like, okay, it's just us, like, in this,
and this will be with me on every flight now, you figure, like.
Yeah.
Yeah, did anybody pick this up for Fantasy Critic?
I'm sure someone did, right?
Yes, but I could not tell you off time.
Who has it?
Hmm.
I'm...
Chat, you can check.
Tim did.
Tim did.
Tim did.
Nick Nitro.
Even off the clock,
Tim getting some points.
Well, he might have done it earlier than that.
I can't remember.
Oh, like if he'd properly get grounded.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't think it was like at the last minute he came through and got it.
Oh, yeah, because he was actually, Nick was answering SolarC so did anyone draft this?
So I think it might have been at the draft.
Yeah, yeah.
Hmm.
Oh, Pokemon.
Which, you know, good for him.
We did not know at this point if this was gonna work out.
Yeah.
Because that was before even.
Nobody had played it, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was just a weird trailer.
Oh, I don't wanna stop, but we should start winding now.
I gotta go play other things too.
I gotta talk myself out of going to fucking Nintendo store.
And I'm not going to.
No.
I'm going.
It's a losing battle, but I'm like,
they gotta start looking at timetables for what I'm doing.
I think they got a new Meta-Night amoebo out today.
Oh, man.
Yeah, you gotta add to Ben's collection.
I can't believe how many times I go to the Nintendo store.
It's crazy.
When it opened, it was like, oh, that's a cool thing to have in San Francisco,
and I'm like there, I'm there all the time.
Is that like a common weekend excursion for the Millers?
Yeah, common enough, where it's like, yeah, we're going to go over there and see what's up.
Union Square is so nice.
There's just so much going on.
It is nice.
Nice to see some of the city coming back.
Yep, for sure, for sure.
I know, I guess, yeah, I've only been the one time, but I don't really, yeah, I don't really, I'm not on that side of the city that often.
Yeah, I mean, that's the one part about it where it's like, it's really, I'm going there for that.
Yeah, not a lot else to do over there.
I thought about it where I was like, well, we will be down there for GDC next week, so maybe I can play it out that way.
I'm not going to make it.
There'll be other things going on, too.
Yeah.
That is exciting for GDC.
Oh.
I feel like it always sneaks up on me.
Yeah.
You and me, bowl.
Ladies gentlemen, NB's that!
Pokemon, Pocopia, your Kind of Funny Games cast plays.
Joey and I love it.
We think you will, too, if you like these kind of games.
Of course, the full review is up over on YouTube.com
slash Kind of Funny Games, Podcast Services Around the Globe.
Uncle Jordan, Jordan Midler, the big man from VGC,
comes on through, of course, to share.
Here's the thoughts and opinions after 120-some hours.
Joey are on there.
We all gave it nines.
Yeah.
And yeah, after crying yesterday, beating it, rolling credits, can only tell you, God dang, what a game.
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for everybody who came and joined our island here.
Of course, you are still going to have the keys to it, so keep on building.
We hope you enjoy this.
This closes out our programming day for today.
If you are listening or watching later, maybe on a podcast service, go check out the games cast,
where we, of course, previewed Mouse P.I. for hire.
Go check out games daily, where we talked about all the stuff coming to Pocopia,
the references to the new Pokemon game in Pocopia.
and so much more.
For now, until next time,
it's been our pleasure to serve you.
