And I had this moment with her Where she was freaking the fuck out about this And she was like, why? Why? And I was like, hey, like the due dates We're still like four days away from the due date And that reframed everything for her For some reason, she was just so trippittable. It should be here by now.

Literally the day, due date, we're fine. And so that's bought me a lot of good, good emotion. Time is up tomorrow, Tim. I am running out of hours, guys. Tonight is my final night. I don't know what to do tomorrow. So please say all your... No more excuses.

I'm mad at you, okay? Because there I was last night, Tim. I'm streaming. I'm having a good time. Yeah. I see my best friend start streaming. He's playing Valorin. I go, oh, man.

It's a multiplayer game. I didn't get an invite. If I go outside, I do the next carpino method, I check the mailbox. I open it up. I look inside. I go, maybe the invite's so big, he had to leave it on the front doorstep.

I go to the front doorstep. I look around. Did you go to one of those websites that talks about, like, what's down for Steam? Like, maybe it was down on Steam. I go to eInvite.com on my Yahoo. I go, did I get a virtual invite?

I just see that I, I didn't receive an invite to hang out and play Valorant with Andy and his squad. You don't really hurt. It's probably too busy begging for reviews over on Instagram. I saw that the other night. He popped in and said, hey, just looking for my invite still.

And also resubscribe. So thank you, Mike. And I had to tell him, I'm not the general manager of the team. Yeah. I'm not the team leader. I am merely someone who comes off the bench. Who are you playing with?

To do the job with Melissa with Y, Kevin Ace X, Maddock. Now, Kevin Ace X, that hurts. That hurts. Because Kevin Ace X is your Alfred. You know what I mean? You're back. He's Alfred. That's a very good comparison.

But like, again, Mike, I need you to know, I'm not the GM. I'm not making calls for backup players and things like that. You know, I just, I. I wake up in the morning, I put my pants on with both legs. You think the star player would be able to have some sway. I'm getting his best friend on the team. The face of the franchise. I did go positive in both games.

Oh and two. Oh and two in our premier season so far. Oh, and two. However, both really good games. So I'm like really excited because usually I gave a baller for about a year because it was, you're too good. Every game was, all right, they have their worst players better than our best player. Like, why are we in this little, like, you know, fucking bracket or whatever?

But now the team to 0 and 2, but we lost both games, I think, 13 to 11. Very good games. I don't want to hear about that. Oh, shit. Can I be vulnerable? Can I show my jealous side? Why do you not? In the chat, Kevin A.Sex says, what the fuck did I do?

Kevin A. sex is what the fuck you didn't do. All right? When fucking, I don't even know over here, Nightwing invites Alfred to play a game. Alfred's got to call Batman, all right? That's how it is. I love this little killing it. It's really hurting me. Be vulnerable for this second.

Let me be vulnerable. Let me show my jealous side. Okay. Okay. I take great pleasure in watching Andy and his team lose because I'm not invited. But also at the same time, I'm so happy. I'm so happy and like love watching them play because they're playing the game that they love and it's exciting and fun to watch. So like there's a piece of me, best friend Mike.

who's like super supportive, so happy. Like, it's awesome to watch. This is cool that they're like having their Thursday night, Valorite nights, and they're playing. But then there's a piece of me that's like when they go, ah, ah, and they get all uptight for going on with two. There's a piece of me that's like, you got a mic. That was this guy.

It wasn't the other team. I don't think it's a piece. I think it's the entire. You got a Mike. The shot in Freud is just so strong with Mike. He's not a good person. He's already daddy says so Mike is two-faced. he's the fraud father man

And I answer him like, hey, what's up, Mike? And he does the whole snow bike mic intro. Hey, Roger, what's up, Roger? And I'm like, The pause. I'm like, am I on stream right now? He's like, no, this is life. And it's just the biggest deepest.

And then he just talks to me about Splinter Cell. And it was great. It was awesome. It was a great conversation. No bitterness. It was beautiful. Can we tell him about? Yeah, let's tell him about it.

Because we never talk about Splinter Cell. There I am playing through Splinter Cell Blacklist, following up my Splinter Cell conviction play. Very problem. There I am having fun. Out of nowhere, they decide, you know what? Let's make you the side character for three minutes. And let's go full first person mode on this and you have to kill.

I'm like, what? Yeah, so that's the whole thing in Blacklist is that you can play the entire game non-lethly and stealth. But then for some reason, they're like, hey, also for this three minutes, you have to kill a bunch of people. It's like, why are we doing this? And Mike says, do you ever think about that? And I said, Mike, unironically, I think about this maybe once a week. It is absolutely fucking batch, bad shit insane. So shout out to Blacklist, everybody.

It only took us 15 days into January, as always, of course, to get out the smileys, to get out the top ten list, and of course, get out our personal top tens, which means we can finally close the door on 2025 and look to 2026. We came here and we said, what are we going to do to round out top 10 week,

game of the year week? And I came up with the amazing idea of predicting what our top 10 for 2026 will be, not our personal top tens, but who right now in the Barrett time capsule, Barry, if you write all this down, can lock in the top 10 along us, that when we get to next year around this time, we can award the first ever. you're the inaugural champion of 2026 predicting the game of the year. Top 10, 2025, 2025, 2026, Gamecast.

Andy, when you think of 2026 and you close your beautiful little peepers, and for a second, you think about Waterburger in the Houston Airport, they say, no, no, no, 2026, top 10.

Spicy ketchup is so good. Somebody put up a photo on Reddit, they're at the Houston Airport at the Waterburger. Really? But they got the one, they got like the patty melt. I don't know how I feel That's one of the Very popular idea Is that what you're supposed to do?

That's something everybody goes for I just go for the number I go for Waterburger Jr. Bread toast more than really Okay okay What's gonna be our number one Top 10 that we'll be talking about

When you and me celebrate at the Houston Waterburger Number one top 10 Or yeah Top 10 2026 What's number one list in your mind? I mean I think of a tall

Beautiful Deep voice British mate Oh It's Soros. I think, like, Bear walked out to me yesterday and was like, I think Loki will probably be our goady and like thinking about how Returnal popped off that year. Because PlayStation exclusive, most of us, if not all of us, will play this game.

Most of us, if not all of us, will love this game. I think it's like, it has all the right ingredients. It isn't some really weird off genre. This isn't like a PlayStation exclusive that also happens to be a really long 80-hour turn-based JRP or it's on a PlayStation exclusive that's maybe, you know, like a Life is Strange style game that maybe not everybody's gonna fuck with.

I feel like... And it's also not the biggest PlayStation thing. I feel like sequels to some of the heaviest hitters or like the Marvel stuff. Like I think there's a level of Ben there done that. Right. Where follow up to Returnal is still fresh. I think it's, you know, shooty shoot, all of us,

something that all of us can get down with, with amazing graphics. And fucking Rahul Koli, man, come on. I'm not going to let that, I'm not going to hold that against it. Oh, okay. That's going to be again. We all really like, enjoy it. When you started holding the tall and British,

I was like, James Bond, like, Andy, you're overestim. A lot of people have 007 high on their list. Of course, get your super chats in with your list right now where you think it's going to go. I'm going to say the boring answer, though, and say my number one is GTA6. I think the only thing that holds it back, of course, well, two things. Number one, it doesn't come out this year.

And number two is just dog shit, but that's not going to happen. Right? I don't know. I think it's boring. I think it's not an interesting answer, but I think it's the way rock star works. Theoretically, you talk about we're all going to play it. Like, we're all going to play GTA6. And I think we're all going to play deeper into GTA6 than Soros, I would imagine.

I think that the story has to really deliver for GTA6. in order for all of us to really vibe with it. Because I think that, I feel like that's the thing that has to be the strongest. Whereas Soros, I don't really care about story. I'm here for the moment to moment of gameplay

with the really cool, creative, fun boss fights. And I feel like GTA6 has more to deliver in order to live up to those expectations. I also think there's a little bit of GTA6. It's been there, done that. Of course, it's going to be incredible. Of course, there's going to be a lot of amazing moments. but I also can see in our personal top tens,

people vibing with Sorrows. That getting us more a little bit more excited than a GTA6, and that kind of pushes it over the edge. We're talking about games, though, that I think all of us will play. So, yeah, I think that that is the top. My counter argument with that is the Ben there done that, right? You look at our list here from last year,

and we talk about stuff like Ghost of Yote, right, and where that fell out on it, where death straining two falls out on it, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. GTA six just stating for so long. Like they are, Mike, when we were running, running up to Starfield. You're like, Xbox has to expect,

gamers have to expect game of the generation. And you weren't wrong. And it wasn't that by a long shot, right? People are expecting that from GTA. And I imagine the way Rockstar works and the money they pour into these things and the people in the time. And yet that they are,

they know that and they're shooting for that. And so I really do think like, yeah, are we all going to vibe with it? Like the story, story is one thing. But like, what if I could easily see as we get into that game.

And there is like a not as deep, but maybe schedule one mini game that is like, Mike's like, I didn't even fucking touch the story. I just made, I just did this. I ran drugs and I did this nonstop and this shit building for me in Starfield. Yeah, exactly. Where you run off, you're talking about like what a technical marvel it is. And again, I'm giving it a mo. A lot of rope to hang themselves with, but these are the expectations for a game like this. Yeah, and that's not even including what multiplayer is, right? And is that part of this package. I don't think we see it this year. That's also a great point too, right? If if there is multiplayer, I think that that is kind of a lock for

number one just because we're going to have so much fun there, especially I think Mike, Andy, Nick and I, like we're going to have so much fun online running around. But yeah, I mean, just as a base package, I don't know. I think it is up in the year. I don't think it's as much of a slam dunk as I agree. I agree that 100%. Well, while it's not a slam dunk, I do think that GTA, unlike any other game possible, has a higher chance at being number one on more of our list for one specific thing.

Like what Gray's saying, whether it is just the multiplayer or it is the story or it is just the having fun fucking around or it is just the I can't believe this world is this. well realized. Like there's just so many things that could because of the production value, because of the budget behind it, because of the time it's been since GTA 5, like, I just feel like there is such a higher chance that even if there's only one of those things that really stands out to us and we don't really care about any of the other ones, that's not going to make the score drop for where this ranks.

But that is a unique position that Grand Theft Auto can be in, right? But to Roger's point, it's like, I also don't, I don't, it's, it's too big to fail, but I don't think it's too big to not be great. Yes. Yeah. A lot of asses in this game. I'm honestly, I'm looking at it. I'm looking at this trailer and so much ass. I'm like, this is number one. Yeah, that's going to be.

I mean, look at the story you're getting there. You know what I mean? You got Bill's a cop chasing him down. Come on. A lot of banging. A lot of banging. Oh, look at that. See how she grinded it into him? Mm-hmm. You sound like an alien. Mike, what do you think? The number one game of the year?

Number one, I'll keep playing the game and I'll give you something different. You know what I'm going to give you? They had a killer showcase yesterday. Resident Evil 9 I'm going to go with. I think we're really going to vibe with this. This one, of course, we're trapping, blessing and Andy in a room. So guess what? They're already going to play it.

That's going to be on their list. Dang. Roger, myself, Tim, all vibe with this. I think this is the one that wins Greg over and like he really loves it, loves it, right? I love it. you love it. I love the backwater one. Eight? Oh, seven. You like to eight more than, no, you like the medium.

More than eight. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. I think this is the one that wins him back over. Tam, I need you to help me back up because like Resident Evil, come on now. I mean, like, look, here's, the reality is that there's no chance. This is our number one. No chance. No chance. But it will be very high on our way.

You think it's a two to five? The problem is I, let me just start with me. I've been saying this the last couple weeks specifically for. from Game Awards onto now and after yesterday's showcase, I stand by it even more. I think this is going to be the best Resident Evil game.

I think that they are perfectly set up every single thing that we've seen and played of this game has been anything I could ask for from Resident Evil in 2026. Yesterday in the showcase, Greg, said the director was saying one thing that got me incredibly excited.

They're like, there's two gameplay styles in Resident Evil Requiem. And Leon, a little bit more actiony, grace, a little bit more traditional survival horror. We could have expected that. We could have known that. but then he invoked certain titles

where he's like, we're going after the feeling of Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 4. And that hit you. Okay. And when you think about those games, those are good. Those are high points for the specific kind of

verticals that they're going for, for Survival Horror and for Resident Evil gameplay. So if that is their kind of like starting place and everything that we've seen and played lives up to that already. And we get Leon, we're going back to Raccoon City. All of this stuff looks so damn good.

It's legitimately scary. They introduced this new thing. They're like the zombies or undead or whatever they are. Have like personality traits from before they died. So they're like, it's super creepy. Like it kind of just adds this level of realism of just like the example they used was, it's like watchdog.

You scan them and it says this person works at a bank. But it's like the janitor at the hotel will be like, in the bathroom still like creepily wiping down the mirror. And it just adds this level of like scary human realism to it all. And the level of violence and gore and things that are going to be shiny and ray trace. Like everything's just at an all time high. The last of us two have going, Damon, where are you, Damon? You know, like, oh, that person has a name.

That's a real person, you know. Janitor was playing Vita. No. But yeah, and again, the locations, I think are the other thing. It's like locations is such an important thing to any survival horror game. but specifically Resident Evil. And knowing that we have the hotel, knowing we're going back to Raccoon City,

seeing some places that are very mansion-like. Like, I feel like they're just kind of nailing every single thing that they need to with this one. My biggest concern is like it's the story and how wild it might get, will the end of this game go off the rails to a place that we might all give it, everyone that plays it might give it a pretty high score,

but when it comes to the end of the year rankings. Yeah, yeah. When we're comparing it to other games, is it going to hit that high? I expect it will for me. I see this, by the way, I just want to make sure we're all clear. When I'm asking you, number one, you're up to, you're up to. You're allowed to move these around.

I'm not locking you. So by the end of the show, we need our top 10. So I think this is a good discussion. I'm with you of, I think Res. I'm excited to play it. I think that's going to be on the kind of funny end of the year's scale somewhere in that back half. I think that's a five to 10, depending on how crazy this year is. I would right now, and I will probably end up ranking it, more towards that eight,

you know what I mean, than the five, but I think it's, going to be well received. I think we also need to be honest about just recency bias, right? Of like when we play a game in the beginning of the year, it's tough to kind of remember how much that affected us, unless it's an expedition, right? Unless it's something that is truly game changing. You're playing it a bunch of, especially when it comes to one of these games. It is a one and done experience for most of us, right? It is, hey, we have that experience and then other things come in. So I, yeah, that's what's tough about that being number one. I think if this came maybe in October, November range, I think it would have a better shot of us being like, oh shit, this game is awesome. It's the best

Resident Evil game. It's going to get split fiction. Exactly, exactly, which is also a great game, too. Split fiction. Timothy, what are you thinking right now as you talk and where are you putting it? I mean, what's tough about this is I feel like 2026, we obviously have some heavy, the heaviest hitters possible, maybe

with GTA6 and stuff, but I think that we don't really know too much. I think it's kind of hard to guess the things because, like, we don't know shit about Nintendo. Like, I don't think any Nintendo game that is... That one guy on the check is going to be a 3D Mario. But the thing is, like, any officially announced Nintendo game right now,

I don't think is going to make our list. Fire Emblem is the one that the quality I expect will be there. But it's a sheer numbers game of Nintendo gives us one code. At this point, that code's going to go to Mike. It'll be on Mike's list. But who else is going to give that a shot? And it just turns into this thing of like, maybe some people will.

Maybe some people will try and play. But it's like, it's a numbers game there of like they would need to be so high on Mike's list and then whoever the one or two other people are. So I just don't see that happening. but I do expect we're going to get some heavy hitter Nintendo games so those will be in that potential for the top six of this list Yeah I've got a hot take where I think

Two games that make our top 10 Won't even be mentioned on today's show I mean I think more than that I would think more yeah Because there's going to be stuff that comes just a special random indie games Yeah I'm thinking of just like Anna Rogers that pop up well that will kind of catch us off by you know, off guard. So I guess the thing that I will go with, have officially announced games so far that I expect will make kind of funny's list one way or another is Wolverine.

Yes. And that is, I think, the easiest answer. I think that it is incredibly unlikely that Wolverine is top three for us. But I do think that it will be on the list for sure. I think no matter how bad the game ends up, I still think enough of us will like it enough that it makes the list. but I just don't see both in terms of what Insomniac has done in the past and how this team reacts to it and then also it being something that we're all

very excited for but also kind of looking at as like but what are they going to do like how can you turn this Wolverine game into a bigger experience I think those things are against it and I just again in the taste of our team I expect more indie games and smaller things that aren't

that project so if we can deliver an an Ant May moment from Spider-Man 1, PS4, I think that it can be really, really highly ranked. But if there aren't a whole lot of story touches, I don't think that this game is going to revolutionize hack and slash sort of action combat.

So it's not something that we're going to go like, whoa, this really changed the game in terms of what we can expect from one of these games. I think it's going to be what we expect and still be really good and something very, very enjoyable. But if it can deliver on a couple of awesome storybeats, that all of us go, do you remember that one, I think that it could

be really highly highly high. And if boss fights are amazing, right? If you're doing that, what is that moment to moment combat going to feel like and how visceral is? And like, I'm with you, Tim. And I hope it's that I'm just setting realistic expectations in hopes that Insomniac gets above it, where I'd be like,

yeah, I could see Wolverine on Arliss being a number five, maybe a four. To get to that 3, 2, 1 area, right? Like, this has to be jaw dropping. Barrett, talk to me a little bit about if you have it at your fingertips. Previous Insomniac, like Spider-Man.

And before you even do that, I just want to jump in and say that, like, with everything I just said, I would be willing to bet at this point, having not played the game and none of us having played the game, I think Wolverine will be higher on my list than anyone else's. Higher than me. Well, you're a wild card these days. I couldn't make that bet, but I do think I will have it very, very high. It's interesting to hear you guys talk about this and especially thinking back on where insomniac games have ended up on our list in the past.

I should play all the way to the top. Exactly. One of our favorite games. Defines us. Defines us. Just like Astrobat. Especially because I think Wolverine being, you know, still a Marvel game, I think it's going to be a different character, different flow of what that game is, different story

and tone enough that it's going to shake up what we think of as Insomniac's open world, Spider-Man, New York formula that we're all going to. to be like really surprised by it. Because even with Spider-Man 2, you know, I think we all had varying degrees on like how hot we were on that game. And even then, with that being the third game in this Spider-Man series, that at that point, we do all start to feel the formula in one way, shape, or form. And that was still our number two for 2023.

And then, you know, Ratchen and Clank, being our game of the year back in 2021, winning by one point. I just, I think there is something with Insomniac that we all do generally, really enjoy.

And I think Wolverine could be a nice break from the, the Spider-Man type of formula that we think of them for today. And that's why I think it'll be our number two.

Oh, Barry coming off the best. I'm excited. Because I, I'm still on that half-court shot. I went to Andy yesterday, like he's mentioned

earlier, my half-court shot, I think Saros wins our game of the year. Oh, I like that too. I'm excited for the introduction of like the X-Men mutants, right? Like we have a severe lack of that in the video game world right now and also the MCU of like there's an excitement of like the X-Men are coming back, right? The mutants are coming back.

And this is like, I think when you play Wolverine and you get that tease or like storm shows up, someone shows up, you're going to be like, oh, I'm out of my seat excited now because it's been a long, long time. There's an excitement here, I think. I don't know. I don't know. For me personally, like, I, I, Logan and, like, Wolverine by himself is not exciting to me. Oh, fuck. Like, I am,

I am an X-Men person. I like him as being a smaller character within this group of other characters. I don't know, man. I've grown up my entire, literal, my entire life as Logan being the fucking guy. And it's just like, I don't think he's got the stuff comparatively to a Spider-Man and to that open

world and to be able to lean onto that. I am not as excited about it. I'm very excited for this game. I think it's going to be fun. I, of course, played the fuck out of the X-Men Wolverine Origins game. I played the X-Men 2 game that they made back in the day with,

I think, Mark Hamill playing Logan there. That was fucking awesome. That was an incredible game. So I like it, but I just, I don't think I'm as excited as y'all and be like, this is fucking slam dunk. This is an exciting story for me. Well, then I do ask you then,

Roger Picornie. Is Control Resident a slam dunk? I was going to say, I think it would be very high on our list. I think it would be very high on our list. I don't think it's number one, but also, I don't necessarily feel like this game

is coming out this year. I just, the more we talk about it, the more we look at it. I just don't, it feels like 2027. And like, I don't,

I don't necessarily believe until we see game plan, like, this is the fucking one that's coming out. It feels almost, if I were to like, think about the business of this all of like,

hey, we really fucked up with FBC. And we need to show and our investors that we are making a game that is coming out and potentially coming out this year. And I think that this is one

that can easily slip into 2027 with a nice little trailer that comes out of the Game Awards or Summer Game Fest and people will still be very excited about it and investors will be happy but I just don't believe that this game is coming out this year it feels a little bit too soon and they want to get this one right they need to get this one right especially with where the company is at right now

and how kind of precarious everything is and they have so many projects going if Control Resident does not hit on the same level as an Allen Lake 2 it's I don't think it's going to be great well I mean it's got to hit more than Alan Wake 2 hit like yeah I'm saying critically I'm saying critically In terms of sales, yes, it also needs to hit that wider audience that, I mean, Control had a pretty big audience, I mean, by the end of it, right? Yeah, this is where you hope you, yeah, you jump off of that, right?

You saw this one, right, Roger? Well, I saw pretty much the trailer and they showed us some more screenshots. And it's remind me, just so I'm not speaking out of turn. You're playing as the brother and it's more of a shooter, right? We're running through the streets. No, it's more of a hack and stuff. It's a, like that's what I was, sorry, because you're shooting in the first one, obviously. Yeah.

Yeah, you hope that has, at a glance, broader a piece. right especially for people who like oh i've heard so much about control i heard so much about an awake too now there is a game here that i am hacking or slashing through the world yeah i just i i wonder what type of hacking is slashing this is right is this more devil may cry is this more you know souls like right is that a god of war is that a guy yeah what kind of like where are we going with this yeah uh and then also going with the big RPG elements of it all right i think that's that's interesting and cool but again when you just say RPG it's like what does that mean right i want to see the skill trees i want to see how actually I can get in there and change the weapon and make it feel like my own.

But it has a lot of promise. I think this could easily be a number four. I think that's a solid number right there for this if it comes out this year and it hits at the right time. I got control resident two through five. I think it will definitely hit for us here in this office. I think I look at Barrett, Andy, Roger, myself, right? I think we're in on that bless 100%.

You too will be interesting to see where you guys go. But like I think you have five out of the seven of us probably really high on this game. if it is. For me, control and ghost, Sushima and Yote are examples of games that I know I'd love if I played them. I just haven't had the time to play them. And I want to get to control at some point. And if I do that, I'm going to be very excited about this one. And then I'll probably really like it. So there's just a lot of ifs there. But at the same time, I can say all that. It's like when I'm deciding what games to play, I don't end up choosing control. So, yeah, I got a brave through the first one. Office spaces. Too scary.

I mean, I adore the first one, so I'm hopeful that I adore this one as well. I don't like you're acting like acting like I don't fucking like that. I like that. The hacking slash is the one thing, but I would be coming off of a year here with hell as us that I thought. Obviously, if you can give me a story and a reason for what I'm doing, I'm all about it. I'm excited to do it, but the giant hammer doesn't do much for me, but I do love fucking up. Oh, it's transforms. Yeah.

Yeah, he also has like, no, I know. Cool blades. But am I going to be forced to use the fucking hammer when I want to use the dual blades. You know what I hate that kind of shit. I can't do it because one's got Star Wars. One doesn't. I got to choose. Roger, my prediction for that game, all of us are going to pick it up and be annoyed that they didn't lean into pod racing. Amen. I'm sure going to like that. That game will be on two people's top 10.

If that. If that. And we will make fun of them. And it'll be Rogers number one. Rogers will be one. It'll be one way to the bathroom and put it number one because of that. I thought you guys were with me. Just for stats for the last Forza Horizon, that was back in 2021.

That came in at number nine with only half of the people voting on it. That was Mike Bless Andy and Paris all having it on their list. But I know times. Yeah, times are changing. Times there are changing. I can see that. I can see that being really high. I can see number two.

I'm excited to see where it does go because I anticipated to be great. I think a lot of us will enjoy it. I do worry when we talk about gaming tastes and building a top 10, racing isn't really the big forte for this squad. So it will be interesting of like, hey, it was a lot of fun. I loved enjoying, I loved my time with it. I see this more as a 5 through 10 window for us. It is the breakthrough, though.

It is the one that exceeds like just racing games. It's the one that so many of us including me go, I never play car games. I don't really gravitate towards that, but Forza Horizon does it for me. It's the mainstream version

of it. Yeah, and Forza 5 coming in at that like 9 to 10, like that totally makes sense to me. Like thinking about this year's list, dispatch coming in at 2, even though we all had it around 5, like for the most part. It's like this is the type of thing I could see it being a little higher on a list, which gets a little higher. Two might be a little lofty, but I hope I'm wrong about saying this. I don't have the highest

hopes for 2026. I don't think that it's going to be the best year in gaming. I got a long list here. I got big games I'm excited about. Can we stick on Xbox for a little bit longer? I was hoping you would. I would like to talk about Xbox because we talk about the big four this year, right? We talked about

fours to here. Now, Fable. Next week, we're going to see Fable. Let's just live in a world that Fable does come out this year. Woo! Whoa. Is Fable making our top 10? No, Greg will have it on his list? Maybe Mike. I really am excited for Fable.

You guys got skate on the list. I look at my man. Oh, good point. Great point. I mean, Fable, you've, maybe you've played the original trilogy. You know it. You love it. Maybe you're kingdoms of Amalore.

Jabroni like my man, Greg. And it's like, hey, you're going to find some love in that. You might find some love. I think Fable might make a surprise. I'm, I'll say this right now. Fable comes out this year. And it is where I hope it should be with playground games. I think Fable is a lock for our top 10.

I think people are going to really be wowed by this. I would love that. You know, you watch the trailers, you get the vibes and like, you know, it is Fable. It's not Fable for. It's not Fable. You know, it feels like, and you look at this and it's like, are we going to get a very cinematic RPG from them? You know what I mean? That is going to have a narrative and fun interactions and all.

It's going to be very storybooky, obviously. We've seen with the giant, very comedic we've seen from these things. like is it going to be an RPG with so much sauce that not you're in the weeds with your pluses and minus it it's just a great time to go play and I know this might sound insulting and it's definitely a lofty goal but is it going to be a slim down and more comedic witcher that's my question am i going off on this journey that is nonsense and giants and all these goofy little things and goofy characters i'm meeting that are played for comedy not to you know destroy you and make you fucking hate the the game and it's trying too hard thing. But you look at this and it's like, am I setting off on that kind of adventure right now? I would fucking lose my mind. Yeah, no, this interests me.

I have no idea about the history of Fable. I completely missed this one. Like I was a 360 gamer with Fable 3. Command. I was like, I don't know what the fuck this is. I played the demo. I was like, this doesn't make any sense to me. But what you're pitching, a slim down kind of like linear RPG is exciting to me. But then also, I'll throw out the wild card there when we're talking

about Witcher. if a Witcher 3 DLC comes out, I think my life might just become Witcher. I think I actually go back and actually play Witcher for one. So I think if that happens, that's kind of like, oh shit,

well, I'm already in this type of world. I don't want to have to go over to Fable right now. So that's a little bit of a wild card there. But I'm excited for me. My questioning there is again with this Witcher DLC, am I starting from scratch?

Does it play just like the Witcher? Because that's where I get into, if it's going to play just like the Witcher, I think a lot of people are going to be reminded of like, oh, wow, that's an old game. That is a 20-15 game. And if Fable drops, and plays like a modern game and it looks better

and all these other. I think that's going to turn heads. There's been a bunch of updates for Witcher. I know. I'm not saying it's garbage. Don't go wrong. I like Witcher. I'm really interesting to see if Andy will vibe with Fable because a vowed we talked about last year, right? This kind of fantasy, you know, that Bethesda open world adventure, right? Is this a game

for Andy? I think it might be. I really, I'm interested to see if you'll vibe with this, Andy. What I've seen from the combat looks like enticing enough and it looks serviceable enough. It has to hit with the story. It has to hit with characters that I care about because Avad just did not do that for me. And that, even if your story is kind of weak, if the, if the people and NPCs that you're meeting along the way are interesting and compelling enough,

then absolutely. But if you're not hitting that, then your combat and open world better be like the most impressive thing I've seen, you know? I think that's one reason why I fell off of Avad was I just was surrounded by people that just weren't that great to be around. They weren't, you know, fun enough. They didn't have, like, the most tragic backstories or awesome moments, you know, that really, really make me remember things. And that's why, like, when I think of NPCs in a Vowd, it's always like, I've always been chasing that Geras for carrying high.

Can I get, I know this game isn't like you're building a team or whatever, but I just want people around me to be as interesting as, like, what the story is. And that's what these vignettes make it seem like we're going to get. But of course, we will see next week on the 22nd. Very pumped up. Paris and Gary return to that table. Really quick, just stick with Xbox. Please. Halo and Gears E-Day. We're living in a fantasy world that all four of these come out.

Let's Halo the original remake in Unreal Engine 5 with three extra missions with Sergeant Johnson and Master Chief. I can't wait. And then Gears E-Day. We'll talk about Gears E-Day. Okay. Because I think you and I are brute forcing that motherfrey. We're brute forcing that thing, the top five. I don't know about that.

I feel like if Ede comes out this year and if it is as good as I kind of expect it to be, I mean, it's a Gears game. I'm pumped about Ede. Yeah. And I feel like if Gears 5 were to come out today, I think there's a chance it would have made our list because I think more people would have played it. And I think that they would have liked it a lot. I think they would, I don't know about that way.

Years four into five, they took a swing there, and five in particular, I don't know if a crew, our crew would have stuck with that. Why not? They made the kind of open area. It was the sequel to four of like, hey, these aren't the characters that we fell in love with. We took a swing with this group. Yeah, we're trying to do like the Star Wars sequel trilogy for a franchise that people really just cared about two to three characters in. You know what I mean? So it's like it just kind of were stretching it thin.

But the return to basics, it could get a lot of people in. very, very, very, I think this is probably my most anticipated game of the year. Wow. I was crying when I saw this trailer like out there. Like I, this means so much to me. I'm so excited to play this with my brother. Like, Gears of War is so like pivotal in my, you know, gamer journey

and to see all this, it is pure nostalgia bait, but if you can actually add on all the stuff that they did kind of figure out with four and five and make that game feel better, because you go back to Gears Ultimate Edition, the last year that they put out on PlayStation 5 and oof, that game is good, but it's also

so old as fuck and being able for them to take that and then build upon it very, very excited for this game if it comes out but I also, I think this is the one that would be pushed. Out of all the ones we're talking about here, I think Fable is probably coming out this year. It's about fucking time. They're doing the developer direct, Halo has to come out this year.

I think gears does not need to come out this year. It needs a moment and if it gets stepped on by GTA if it gets stepped on by something else, this might be the nail in the coffin for gears for a while. So it needs to hit. You're excited to play with your brother and I'm Mike. I know. That got him upside immediately. What about your best friend, Barrett?

That's true. He'll play a second time with me. Like, obviously, brother's priority, and then it'll be me. And then it'll be Andy, obviously. Multiple play-throughs. What about Halo? One of the greatest stories ever told. Not a top ten list?

Stories ever told? No multiplayer. Chief Cortana, the ring. Again, here's the flood, the covenant. They just keep saying words. Say more. Say more. I love what we're going to be.

If this doesn't give you goosebumps thinking about that, I don't know. you gotta get out on the Halo train. Because you're lost. That's just crazy. I've never played a Halo 1. So this is a big deal for me. Crazy. So that could make my top 10 because of that.

Yeah. I mean, Mike, you know, we talked about this ad nauseum. We played it. We liked it a lot. It's a big deal. But no multiplayer is going to like bother people.

Like, no matter what, there's like the single player, there's no way it's going to be good enough. The new missions are going to be enough to like make it cross that threshold of like making our top 10. individual top tens, perhaps, you know? I think that, again, I'm for some reason really low on this year.

And I'm like, I'm starting with expecting Halo on my list this year. But I also think Halo will be one of the first things to go. If I'm hopefully wrong about the quality of this year. If this was Halo 3, it would be number one for sure. You know the vibes, bro. Come on, bro. Fuck, we got to get there. When you told me, Tim, that the storming the beach level, to reconciliation or sound cartographer, what is that?

level. Togotara, right? Silent card. I think so. When you told me that that level, right when you said it, I was like, oh my God, are they actually going to take advantage of the new tech and give us

you know, whenever you play games and you go, man, this is how remembered back in the day. Like, are we going to have one of those moments with this? And you said, no, they didn't really like add any more solely. It looked better. It looks far. It's like, damn.

So that, that to me shows me that they aren't really going to touch anything else across the rest of the game, except for the sprint and things like that should be kind of, like, you have to very, very necessary to have a sprint in Halo if you're going to release it now and that's why it has it. But the fact that

they're not really touching up a whole lot of those other things that could be more epic, but we're limited because of tech stinks. Like, I don't love that. Just to bring stats into this, right? I'm thinking about the amount of remakes, reimagininges that we've had

in the last six years looking back at our top 10 list here. The only remakes that have made our top 10 was from 20, was 2024 and then 2020 when not all of us used to vote. And those were both Final Fantasy 7. And those were like full reimagining. When you think about your Resident Evil 4 remakes, your Silent Hill 2 remakes,

those typically don't make our top 10 list. No. I've never been more excited. Like for real, for real, we live in a fantasy world. All of us do. All these four. like Xbox, all four of these are making my top 10 if they're great. I got a good feeling about that. You better

fucking put up or shut up because when I put Fable on this fucking list, I'm going to put fucking Fable on his list. Katie G, get the pizza bets out. 365 days from now or minus five. Yeah, whatever. A year for now, I'll go out there. Three Xbox titles will be on our game of the year list. So the completed kind of funny list.

So, yeah, Forza, I think makes a list. Forza, Fable. I want to believe more than anything the fucking world Fable makes it. I will cry tears of joy if Fable is that good that I can get everybody playing an RPG.

We're all in a thing together. And then either Gears or HALA will make our list to make it three. Because I'm going to give you all the other. Or are you saying in general Xbox? You still mean Merkey and saying three Xbox? I'm saying three Xbox titles will make our game of the year list at the end of the year next year. I'll take the bet for content. I'd like to limit it to the four you mentioned,

There's a lot of other ways to play Halo 1 right now. Like, you don't have to stick so, like, authentically to the original vision Like they're adding new levels. We could go play the other thing if we want. And remember those old levels the way that they were.

You don't have to worry about, you know, Johnny fucking Xbox 360 on Twitter. It's PS5 though, Andy. Yeah, PS5. Got to bring in a new fan base. This is them testing Unreal Engine 5 as well. Yeah. Right? Like, this is like the easy barrier to entry. We know they got multiple projects, right?

They're working on Halo 7 or whatever it's going to be called. Like that is probably out there. You would hope, Andy, I agree with you, that we are inviting more people to play in the sandbox and we're making a Halo Spartan assault, a Gears tactics like Halo tactics game. We are making a Halo Wars 3. Like, Halo should be all over the place, right?

We should be up in that. It should be like how we get a Warhammer in every different genre, you know? We should also be getting more gosh darned Blizzard games. It's just like, I don't know, just like I feel and I think I might have felt similarly at this time last year about. It's not because there's not really much to show. Like we consider and just be like, all right, Falam Fantasy 73 could be this year. Just like we were last year being like Silk Song could be this year. You know, it's like we just don't know a lot of things. And I think the GTA threat is such a looming thing that's going to affect game releases and delays and movements.

And will that come out? or will it be good? Like, I don't know. There's just, there's a lot of question marks for me. Mike just had a light bulb. I just have another game. I got a fun game.

I got a game that I think we'll make the list. Lego Batman. Okay. I think we like Batman a lot. I think the Lego team is moving in the right direction to get to more audience and saying, hey, we like these. We dig these, right?

The last Star Wars one was good, too great. Right? I think now with Batman, I think I could see us having Batman on a lot of people's lists that will then get us into the back half. I'll pizza bet you on that one too. Lego Batman's not making it. Put it out another pizza.

Wow. I'm right there on them. Yeah. I'll tell you what I am not a Star Wars guy. Like I like Star Wars fine, but don't love it, right? So when they did the Skywalker saga, Lego game and everybody's like, oh my God, Lego games are back.

Yeah, yeah. I played so many superhero Lego games. Never did it. And then Ben, of course, became of age and wanted to play Star Wars Lego. I'm like, sure, we popped down. And I've been so disappointed. I'm like, I don't see why people, why people were talking like this was so great.

I think the superhero ones from before were better. Like, it's clunky to play together still. It's complicated in the menus. It's way too complicated. And so I look at the Lego Batman game, which I'm going to play, and I'm excited to do. But like those trailers, the announcement of it, I was like, yes, watch the trailer. And I was like, ooh, I don't love the voice acting. And it seems like it's doing the same thing.

Like, I don't know about this one. Yeah, it's, I was the one that reviewed Skywalker Saga, Lego Skywalker Saga, when that originally came out. And I was really high on it. And every single time I go back to it, it just drops. and drops and drops because it is way too complicated. If you play the original Lego Lego games, any of them, like this is the beat-em-up element of it is so much more fun, drop and drop out.

But like when you start doing like third-person shooting, like what are we doing, guys? We got to get back to basics a little bit. I do think that this is kind of ramping it up to a place that they're trying to meet everyone's expectations, but I think you just got to be a simpler game. And we're kind of losing the sauce a little bit. I do think post-Skywarker saga, it will go a little bit back to,

basics and remind us of what we loved about the OG Lego games while also invoking the Arkham series, uh, which is a series that a few of us here love. I will predict that it will be on multiple of our list, but still not make the top 10. I think it'll be like really low on, uh, some of our personal top 10s. My 10, which is locked. Pokemon Gen 10. This is the one. It's going to give you the feels. It's not going to give you the voice acting. It's going to make you enjoy. Can I tell you guys something? Sure, old generation.

I have a child on the way. I have a lot of my mind. I had a dream last night. About Pokemon. And it wasn't about a baby. It was about Pokemon. And like it was one of those dreams that just felt so real. Like it didn't feel like a dream.

It felt like I'm just living my life. And then I woke up and I realized, no. That's a silly ass dream. I was sitting here at the desk. It was Pokemon Day. I didn't have a child of this world. All right. We're just doing our job.

reacting to Pokemon Day and the trailer for Pokemon wins and waves starts playing we're seeing it and does it look great? No, but does it look bad? No. It was like, okay,

this is kind of just what we expect that's fine and the surprise of the trailer they get to the end and the kind of one more thing we just hear a voice we just hear one line of voice acting and we popped off like we never popped off before

and that was it and we were so stoked. And then I won't know. It's the only V-O in the game. Whatever the line was, that's all there is. It's like the final game. You beat the final POS and you're like, good job,

Pikachu. God, can you imagine, though? Can you fucking imagine? Man, dude, oh my God. If it just like shows like,

you see a camera pans down, you see a hand with a poker ball and he goes, you just hear, time to become the very best. Like, whoa! That's all we need. It's that simple.

Oh, right, right, right. Here's a game that has a lot going for it with Crimson Desert. Here's a game with a lot of systems, a lot of depth, a lot of exciting things that we've wanted in these giant open World Games added to it, right? Here's a game that knows what it wants to be.

A true single player experience, right? No multiplayer, no BS. Just you in the game going out there getting lost in this giant world. It seems to have the hype, right? But Dragon's Dogma had a cool vibe, and we all thought that was going to be great, and then it didn't make our top 10.

I want to know, do we think Crimson Desert will make our top 10? No. No, no. I don't know if enough of us still try it. I think it can only make our top 10 if two people rank it as like number two or whatever. Like I, this game with everything it's trying to do, it has to hit on most of them. And if it if it's trying to be this open world sort of, hey, it's the Witcher with amazing physics and real time systems and water and fire like will spread across grass. and you can burn the wood to break it down once it kind of becomes more weak.

And if it has all these systems that are enough for us to go, hey, I didn't really give a shit about anything happening in Breath of Wild story, but the open world systems were so amazing that that's what kind of lifted it up for me. If it does that, then hell yeah. But if it's trying to be this sort of open world Witcher game, and if it doesn't, you know, nail anything story-wise or character, character-wise, and I could see us going like, yeah, there's a lot of awesome tech, but I just don't enjoy being in the world, you know?

Is it this year's Blacksmith-Hul-Kong? I think it's a-Com-come-Deliverance. Well, okay, yeah, I just don't think it's going to be as good as Kingdom come-deliverance. You know what I mean? I don't think by the end of the year, we're going to be like, fuck, you got to play Crimson Desert. Like, I don't think, I think it's going to be like, oh, this is like a really great game.

I think it's going to sell a begillion copies and everyone's going to be obsessed with it. but I don't think for us we're going to be like, fuck, you got to play that for the end of the year. I think that when it comes out, there will be a lot of pressure for people to want to try it out just to see what it does and to see all the systems that you can mess around with and be wowed by the tech.

In the same way that for the first time when I'm playing some amazing ray tracing games, like you've got to come look at this shit. Like, I feel like it'll be on that level at the start and then people will just fall off of it because maybe it isn't hooking you story-wise. I want to believe. Crimson Desert has so much going on in there.

That's a Greg-ass game. Let's go do it. I don't believe this game will be good. I think there's just too much going on in the pot. And I don't think it's all going to coalesce into a digestible narrative system. I think this could be a lot of fun to play in the giant battles. But then when you're doing the one-on-ones, it doesn't or vice for it. It's just I look at it and I see that everything game.

It does that. everything and it's just like I don't think you can nail that it's almost and it's like I know it's got this March release date I can easily see it not coming out this year and I know that's crazy but I'm saying like I just don't I want to be wrong I want to eat shit I want to get that code to be like this they fucking did it oh I want I definitely want to be wrong but I could totally see it being an all style no substance yeah yeah you know Mike what I thought you're going to bring up when you said the big D big D big D was a penis was a game that starts with the word D D dust dust bloods a game that starts with the last

I think with, you know, the combination of you and Andy really loving Night Rain and then also really, you know, fall in love with the extraction shooter type of stuff, especially with Arc Raiders, I think, and then this actually like being directed by Miyazaki, correct? Like, I think there's going to be something special here that you are going to really fall in love with that makes it on our list easily. The biggest question I have about Dust Bloods isn't whether or. or not it's good at this point when it comes to kind of funny's list. It's whether or not Andy is okay with it being on the switch. I was going to say it's like the opposite of the Nintendo tax. You know what I mean? Like it's going to be the Nintendo, you know,

minus five points. It being a Nintendo Switch to exclusive. Yeah. I feel like they need to prove that they can do it. And Andy, I've heard him talk for hours about how much he doesn't believe in from software's choices when it comes to some of the performance and all that stuff. And so this seems

like a risky gamble. Am I right? Yeah, for sure, especially, you know, I know that people who previewed Eldon Ring on Switch 2 said that it ran better at later conventions, but when I played it, it was an abysmal experience performance-wise. And I know there have been a lot of improvements since then, and hopefully they're still trying to get things evened out. But yeah, this is still a game that is, you know, supposed to be very, very fast and quick and frenetic. and if it's a 30 frame per second experience and sometimes if it's hitting sub that because we know how from software can be with their tech, then it will probably not be an amazing experience.

And I personally think that I will have a very similar experience with this than I did with Arc graders, where the PVP nature of it will wear off really quickly. Like the luster and the excitement of, well, it's really cool to have this sort of thing and then I will eventually go, I just want a PVE mode now. Like I don't really care about this PVP sort of thing.

And a lot of it has to do with whenever we played sniper elite, Mike, or even when we played the Eldon Ring playthrough together, when we were playing the DLC and even through the core game, I loved getting invaded. It's exciting, it's cool. That never wore off. But when it's, I think I'm more down with PVP

when it's more of a surprise and less of this is kind of the core gameplay, you know? I'm very excited to see how people react to this because I know how I will react as I am very excited about the idea of third partying someone, getting someone uptight about the build that I have and beating them right?

I think when you think of a invasion in Dark Souls, it's a one-on-one, sometimes one-on-two if you're playing with a friend. But it's a very contained of like, it's you and I, I see where you're going, you see where I'm going. Of course, with beautiful FromSoft, networking where it's usually laggy and off the chart,

like not correct to half the time, right? But like, I can't wait to see people think, oh, it's going to be one-on-one. It's like, no, Mike is going to come out of nowhere, ruin your one-on-one, and you're going to get up tight. And like, I think that's going to wear on people, Andy, is right? It will be interesting to see what their system is. Is it a night system where night one,

everybody, no matter what, you always fight one-on-one? Is it just this open world map that is slowly closing in? And if I see Tim and we start fighting Andy jumps in and third parties us? Like, what is the interactions here? Because I don't think people are going to love that. Based on a lot of what Miyazaki has mentioned, he has talked about wanting to reward the spontaneous squad up

to beat the large enemy. And in that regard, it kind of reminds me of something like Hunts Showdown, where you're all a bunch of different squads trying to go take down these enemies. But when somebody's taking them down, the other team gets alerted. And they're like, oh, we can maybe third party this as they're taking on this world, boss or whatever. But he has talked about wanting to kind of create these friendships and ally ship when you are out in the gameplay. And that seems pretty neat if it can, but that seems also very, very idealistic. But also, I feel like at any moment, if I've ever doubted what

Miyazaki could do, I'm always wrong. And like, this game could end up being the banger. I just don't know if it's the genre for me. I don't think it's necessarily the genre for me. I think the arc Raiders, the excitement of that wore off pretty quickly for me. Huh. Okay. Yeah, this continues to build my ultimate from soft experiences, right? Yeah. This is exactly what I'm looking for.

My worry is this on a switch to. Like, what are we doing here, you know? So let's find out. We also interested, like, you know, I bring up the circle closing in. What is this map? How big is it? There has to be something that is going to push us all together, or is the map just so small that no matter what we'll find you if you want to play hide and seek, right?

Like, what is this really going to play like? But I can't wait. This is definitely what I want. My prediction for Andy next year is that he will play more Eldon Ring Night Rain than he will dusk bloods. That's not a bad call. Wow. Wow. I've locked in my top 10.

Give me a goddamn game like this. This would be this year's long shot. It's a long shit. People will love this unironically, and it'll be great. Snaven Shake, Super Chaston says, is Mugenics the least kind of funny game of all time? There's tactics. With cats and like rope-like and stuff, yeah. It's not high on the hype list, but maybe it'll turn our heads when it gets around.

And then Charles, a lot of hype. I know. Not our list, though, huh? I see why you don't hang out with him, Mike. Charlie, Super Chats says, what about Star Wars Zero Company? Sleeper hit IMO. Oh, I feel like Mike is going to get so deep. the sauce with that one.

Which one is this? That's the X-Com? That's the X-com one? I can't wait. We're going to play an X-com this year. And it's going to make all the characters, permanent run. Yeah.

I was thinking about this earlier when I was trying to come up with a game that isn't announced yet that could make the list. And then I was just thinking about like just how received the last one was, but the Jedi Survivor sequel

like I think has a, I'd say solid chance of coming out this year. I don't think it's slam dunk, but I just wonder, It'll take place. We'd have to see a summer game fest. And then... Or before that, maybe.

Like, I can see that game being announced in May and then coming out in September. When do they do the big Disney showcase? D23, I don't think it is this year. Okay. They do every four years like the Olympics. I want to see for Jedi Survivor, if they did the same thing with Fallen Order, right? Because Fallen Order was like announce and release in a single year. But I forget if they did the same thing with Survivor.

It would also only give it a three-year. your turnaround, which I don't feel the most confident in, especially with, who is it? Passing events, so it's maybe. But also didn't Stig who. Stig left. Stig left. Yeah. So, yeah.
