Starting point is 00:00:00 On.com slash kind of funny. Saying at Aalya Jr. joined by the one and only Nitro Rifle, Andy Cortez. Hello, Bless. Andy, how's it going? I'm great. We're about to check out Screamer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Caste plays. A game that I, you know, wasn't really on my radar a whole lot until you kind of mention it here and there. And then it was really that slack that maybe go, oh shit, Blessing loves this. Yeah. This is something we got to really kind of look after, you know? I'm curious what will happen when more people get their hands.
Starting point is 00:00:39 on Screamer. Because the review embargo was really interesting. It was Sunday at 4 a.m. our time, which is an insane time for review embargo. And also it's a very busy season, so I don't think that many people got to review it. Like when I checked MetaCritic, I think it only had like 20 or so reviews. Okay. And so I expect maybe a few more to trickle in or maybe a word of mouth. We'll see how many people end up falling in love with this game the way that I did. But it was very gratifying seeing Tim also play it during the weekend be like, dude, this shit is awesome. Thank God. It's not it's not Just me.
Starting point is 00:01:09 It feels like such a tin game. Yeah. What's happening here? Oh, so we're playing on a guest account so we can start from the top. But I think we should be able to... Will it not let us play with... Oh, yeah, don't show this. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Well, I didn't know this would happen. I didn't even know what the guest account stuff was. Yeah, I assumed to just... Oh, okay. No, I backed out. I backed out. I wasn't sure. Does it just let us go?
Starting point is 00:01:43 No, yeah, it's making us. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hey, it'll okay one more time. If this doesn't work, we can just play on my...
Starting point is 00:01:53 Oh, oh, oh. Oh, okay, cool. There we go. Nobody signed into this place. Nobody signed, please God. I don't know how that works. Yeah, we have to hide Granted thought of six. Yeah, I'm like, oh shit.
Starting point is 00:02:04 That's the right one, right? Grants about a six. Yeah, six is the next one. Are you playing Dutch? Um... Dutch. Ditch. Here's the thing, Dutch.
Starting point is 00:02:13 All right, let's see here. diving aids. Oh yeah. This is kind of what I was talking about with like some of the accessibility stuff. Right. One heavy control subtitles, baby. Yeah. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Mm-hmm. On audio off. Cinnitus reduction? Like... Here we go. Damn, they got voice chat. Why? There's online.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Oh shit. Which I, man, I had so much to talk about during the review. And like, I honestly didn't even get to it all. Because I neglected to mention that the villain is played by Troy Bicker in this game. Oh, shit. Yeah, Troy Baker. And then the, like, the main guy. Hiroshi is played by Alex Lee.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Right. Yeah. He was like he's Luke and he was here in our studio and he was here in our studio and he also played I think Junpei in Persona 3. Also, Kravit, I'm realizing that we don't have chat up. Yeah, that's okay though. Yeah, that's okay. We can look at Super Chats later. Yeah. But yeah, so I guess the plan is you want me to kind of hop in see what the story's like. We'll hit the ad and then after that
Starting point is 00:03:08 you'll show us some of the cooler or later game stuff. That is not spoilery. That's not spoilery, yeah. Because the way the game starts is it essentially puts you right into the story. And the story mode does a really good job of slowly introducing mechanics and also like looping that in with what's going on in world to explain why these mechanics are what they are like the boost system the Intrabee system that I talked about during the review. Oh, they also have like a nice anime intro here. Oh nice. Okay, perfect. But yeah, when to start off a story and then later on, I'll show you what just arcade gameplay looks like. So sick. Come on.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Yeah, there's that there's also what I wanted to mention doesn't really matter also Oh yeah, Kev do you have oh he's gonna everyone Um also screamer's an old franchise. I don't know if you knew. I didn't know that yeah, oh there are like multiple screamer games Oh, that looks so fire yeah Back in like the 90s and I think maybe even early early 2000s but correct me for Monkette. Yeah, I don't I mean The name screamer evokes dream cast You know like I just I never really had, I didn't even, obviously I didn't even know it was a franchise at one point,
Starting point is 00:04:19 which made me wonder why I named the game Screamer. I didn't know what it was evoked. It was a franchise. There was nothing like this, though. Like I was looking up gameplay and it just looks like an old sim-y kind of racer. But street racer. Like, hold on, let me look it up. Let me look at them.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Because I remember there being like Screamer 4x4 and shit like that, but it like did not have this anime aesthetic whatsoever. I guess it probably was like street racing type of race with being slits any fast and peers references no damn no they had that of that accurate reference there it is um it was for the emistoss oh wow holy shit the first game was uh 1993 screamer 2 was 96 anaconda core care about winning some racing tournament anyway sure a cash prize is nothing to them you could change your fate would you Besides, caterpillar said, 100 billion dollars. I couldn't care less what a stranger were terrible tastes and aliases texted you.
Starting point is 00:05:25 If Quinn could see us now. Roci. What Hiroshi? Hiroshi's cool. 100 billion is such a non-existent amount of money. To give away, you know? I mean, Elon's close to a trillion, but 100 billion is such a funny thing. Like you can tell me that like two people in the world have a hundred thousand dollars
Starting point is 00:05:52 That's the dude you were talking about That's the guy We need cars Fast ones Oh fuck yeah dude Again I the buy-in that I have to this game and this In its story in this world like as I'm rewatching this I'm like let's go We're so in
Starting point is 00:06:19 A decade working as a PMC Putting away money just to flush it down the toilet I know, but we need a way of getting to Gabriel, right? I look at that and I go, Gabriel, I mean, that's usually like, I knew a lot of Gabrielle women growing up. Yeah, so like it's, you know, I'm interested, you know, fascinating that. Gabriel, I think speaks French. He doesn't speak English. He doesn't speak English. So, like, I think it's just based off of the country's run.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Caterpillar seems to think this is our only chance. Who the heck's Caterpillar? Are we about to find out? You're going to learn. Oh, wow. Hiroshi, a stranger who texts you from an untraceable number and refers to themselves as an insect. Oh, shit. No, actually, I think that's about the way you're thinking.
Starting point is 00:07:17 It's a lead. It's something. I think some people in the Gamescast chat. automatically assumed visual novel no voice acting. Yeah, but all voice acting. It's all voice acting, yeah. That's cool. We're wasting time.
Starting point is 00:07:36 We all know how to drive. But not like screamers. That's cool. That's cool. How many other... How many other comparisons you got Frederick? He's just a poll. Metaphor is this thing.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Thanks, Frederick. Sure. Yeah. Let's see what these things can do. And by things, they're talking about cars. It's funny. Like, this is the moment, I guess before we even get into the racing, right? Like, the visual novel stuff is where I was like, oh, all right.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Like, I didn't realize this is going to be more like this kind of vibe. I thought it was going to be more cutscenes. But then, like, the more, the further the story goes where I was like, this is all. Awesome. That rocks, okay. Let's see. Accelerate using R2, break using L2. Use left and left stick to steer right to drift.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Steering and drifting work in a penalty of each other and can be combined to handle corners more effectively. I mean, it looks so great. Looks amazing. It looks so great. All right, keep drifting. All right, so I like the little side objectives on the far right. Yeah. Well, that'll be your main objective.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Fuck me. Yeah. That real bad. So this is just to get you into it, get you use of the controls. How often you letting your finger off the pedal? A lot of the times if I'm drifting around a hard corner. Like, it took me through half the game to kind of figure out the rhythm of like pick my hand off the pedal while drifting while also like even putting on the brake or whatever, right?
Starting point is 00:09:15 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like the sharper the corner. Like this corner, I might put in like a little tap of the brake as I'm drifting around. Okay, gotcha, gotcha. Trying to get a feel for it. I do like the dual sense though. Like the vibrations feel nice. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Yeah, you feel it in the triggers. Yeah, the adaptive triggers feel great, too. Which is funny, because I was playing at my desk, I was worried because I had my headphones on, and I was playing some of this game. And I'm like, I wonder if everybody just hears like the crackle of my controller. What was that, no, I thought that was a ramp.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I could maybe jump up. See, that was another thing. It's funny because like early on, I had a lot of these things of like, interesting. No traffic, no ramps. I thought there would be like more ramps in an arcade racer, and then all that stuff kind of like, faded away as I played more.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Yeah, because when you talk about your goal always wanting, you're chasing that burnout high. Yeah. What exactly is it that that makes you chase the burnout out? Are you talking about just the feel? Is it one of the things where it's like mainly, maybe it's just tied in nostalgia or is it like, what exactly is it?
Starting point is 00:10:27 It's three things. It's speed, because burnout has a really fast sense of speed. And I think part of that might even be tamer tricks of like how they make everything. Right, the FOV. Yeah, the FOV, like how everything looks blurry as they're going. But they have a really good sense of speed. There's also the drifting of burnout, which feels great, which this game captures a little bit for me as well. And then there's like the aggression, right?
Starting point is 00:10:50 It's a take down and shit like that, which this game kind of tries to do. Doesn't do it as good as burnout, but I appreciate the fact that it's there. Sorry to interrupt, but while we're out here gripping our stage- Because I'm still chasing San Francisco Rush. And it's just, it's a mainly in the South's thing, but I love going up a ramp and see my car just spin a shitload of times and try to land, you know what I mean? And that's one thing I always wished for when playing Forza.
Starting point is 00:11:17 It's like, Forza is so player-friendly in that it doesn't let you accidentally launch off the ground without you want to. It wants to keep you grounded so that it, you know, even though that's not how fits. physics necessarily work, your car's like a lot heavy in that game. They don't want you flying all over the place and crashing. They want the game to be friendly with you, you know? But there are times where I'm like, I wish there was a low gravity or like lower gravity
Starting point is 00:11:41 so that I can kind of launch, yeah. What's funny is that burnout's the same way. Burnout doesn't have you like launching that often. It was born and laid. I don't care what we do long as it ends with Gabriel six feet. Damn. They're just trying to get a mouse did. What's funny is that like early on, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:12:05 Oh, well, these are the main characters, they're the good guys, right? And the more you play, the more you're like, oh, they just want to kill this guy. Yeah. Like, that's their whole mission, you know? Nobody here is really a, quote-unquote, good guy. And there's the adult language. Yeah. Micro-Dick men.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Yeah. It's her legacy. We're not changing. Greg plays in front of Ben. It's like, what is my-dick? Greg, Ben said, Micro-Dicked at school again. I think we've got a tournament to join.
Starting point is 00:12:47 We've got a tournament to join, everyone. And this is what I'm talking about, where you unlock things. Okay, mirrors, okay. And that's the loot box. Yeah, that's like, well, I'm saying, like, the quote-unquote loop boxes. Like, not really loot boxes,
Starting point is 00:13:01 but just automatic, like, randomized, like, cosmetic things that you're collecting. So basically the box. Also, if you saw on that loading screen, like this is episode two. So like an episode is basically one race. That's a racer? The dog can drive, yeah. That's amazing. How the fuck the dog do that? You know? It's a good question. That's a gauge just like,
Starting point is 00:13:45 letting the chest all the way out. Beautiful. And the abs. Excuse you? Great hair. Yes. Well, Mr. A has a strict no weapons policy. So unless you want to forfeit your chance at $100 billion.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Okay. Is the person giving that out then bankrupt? Is that just all of us? It's just all their money? Or is it like, it's in my will? Because if I'm giving away $100 billion, like, I got to have multiple trillion. Because even if you have one trillion, it's like, I'm not giving away $100 billion on a street race. Black Doggy, thank you for 61 months, has love to the KF crew.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Thank you so much. Thank you. Also, while we're here, remember, you can super chat in if you have any questions. Also, shout out to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney and Sam Twining. No, no, nothing like that. It's just, no offense, but you've had your sweaty palms all over them, and I'm not a fan of sweat. Or oil Or any fluid really?
Starting point is 00:14:51 Aren't you a mechanic? The cleanest mechanic you'll ever meet? I think Gage needs some earrings He just yeah I'm no funny business Like getting another gun in between races You'll be checked before every race Immediately disqualified and arrested if need
Starting point is 00:15:08 Does that mean that they had problems With people just sticking out guns out the car windows You got to assume that yeah Had some issues there we got to crack down on that Me god no Who do the honors? A dog? This is so cute
Starting point is 00:15:23 What do you mean we be How the freak are you driving? That's a driving dog is worth more than a hundred billion dollars You really think a man offering up one hundred billion dollars can't afford to have all the police in Neo ray on his payroll So are we good to enter the tournament Grab your cars and meet me back here. I just have to make a simple modification. 4-5.
Starting point is 00:15:54 What I need is like a big parking lot to fuck with the... Oh, yeah. It's definitely harder to do it and more discouraging to do it when you're in a track already, you know? Yeah. And they're just okay with this?
Starting point is 00:16:12 Of course. That's a J-pop group? Yeah. These are the criminals I talked about. Or those are the actual like corporate dudes Space Channel 5 crew Space Channel Crive. These are the criminals. So is Gage just a neutral party?
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yeah. He works with like the organizer. Gotcha. Yeah, of the tournament. I'm assuming that's the booster that lets us hit people. Let's give you quite a few things. Oh wow. Yeah, you'll learn throughout the experience.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Wow. Hiroshi Frederick and Roycian. Roycian trial for the tournament while testing some strange new tech. Episode 3 begins now. Yeah, so not every episode has a race, but... An echo, echo. The echo is the most advanced technology
Starting point is 00:17:20 the world has ever seen. Saar Sidor. Worth 100 billion? That's the one thing in the writer's room where if I was there, like, what if he did like 100 million? I feel like that's still like a lot of money. Is this test and you'll be a part of Mr. A's tournament. Wait, you mean we're not part of it now?
Starting point is 00:17:41 But you already messed with our cars? Mr. A is highly social destruction chats as bless. I was playing tournament earlier and there are secret routes to take. Found two and didn't realize the game had any. I didn't realize that until I was pretty far in. And I was like, wait a second, what's this? And I found a secret route through a track. They're hard to get to though.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Damn, like I can like jump through the little like cave entrance and market card. But like you got to like no exact. What are you talking about on the beach level? Yeah. Dude, I remember that. But it's like, the shortcuts are so, like, hidden that you would have to, like, know the track, know the track and be able to be like, oh, I know it's coming up. I'm going to drift real hard right into this thing. And is the drift adding a boost?
Starting point is 00:18:24 No. Okay, so we're not getting like a Mario card kind of. Oh, I see you're saying, no, you're not really. Okay. Maybe, well, you know how I said every character has their own abilities. I know some, there are, there's at least a couple of characters. It's maybe one character that has it so that when they drift, they gain meter in some form. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:42 But it's more so they're not teaching you shift yet, but when you shift, that'll get you the boost. I want to get so good at drifting. It's just it's going to take a while. It's going to take a while, chat. Yeah. Just be patient with yourself. How's the soundtrack for the rest for the whole game? Because this track's rocking.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Yeah, this track's rocking. I think the soundtrack is overall great. Not my favorite racing game. favorite racing game soundtrack, but I honestly think the only thing they could do to really bring it up would be would be to have vocal tracks Because I associate my favorite racing games with having like like D and B with a kind of a woman over it with a lot of reverb. Yeah Or like I I think I realized too that Just like the way we licensed soundtrack has just changed a lot over yeah, because like I'm thinking of burnout where it's like they had my chemical romance and burnout
Starting point is 00:19:41 like they had like lazy generation being the main theme. And when I'm playing a game like this, I almost like expect there to be some sort of like, you know, yeah, vocal track or pop punk or whatever it is. That said, for like having just purely instrumental tracks, that's a strong thumbs up for me. Because when I think of like racing game,
Starting point is 00:20:02 I don't know why my mind, especially a racing game like look that looks like this and presents itself in this way. My mind immediately goes to that one track in luminous, Luminess, Arise, Arise, yeah. Arise? Arise. With the woman singing on it.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? Like, I forget exactly what that song was. Did I, okay. That's good. So yeah. What are the lyrics in that song, chat? I need you.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I can only hear the Tetris record. Oh, that's a cute car. Dude, they all have like their own unique cards. I love it. Initiate self-destruct. What? Holy shit. That's the echo right there.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Damn. That's what the echo does. That's kind of a fucked up thing to do, though. That's kind of a fucked up thing to do, though. Yeah. To blow up your dog to show that he can regenerate. I mean, that's kind of the dream to have a dog that can't die, then. True.
Starting point is 00:21:11 The echo is the most... Until he starts suffering. He's like, please kill me. I'm a thousand years old. I can't keep doing this. My legs don't want. Like insides are ancient. Can't swallow food anymore.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Yeah, that's probably the song peak. Yeah, the, uh... I'm trying to think of the lyrics that's killing me, though. Oh, Mr. A's calling. Oh, her name is Roy Sheen. I thought his name was Roecien. Honestly, it's a relief. Installing and uninstalling echoes.
Starting point is 00:21:58 all day place hell with my back. That reminds me, the echo is not to leave the premises of the tournament. I have an echo locator that tracks all echoes within a certain range. If an echo leaves that range, it will self-destruct. And neither car nor driver will be coming back from that explosion. The ANR.S.N says, was great meeting you, Andy, on Saturday at the Woolham show. Did you ever find TAM? You looking for TAM?
Starting point is 00:22:27 I did find Tamp, yeah, at the show, yeah. I didn't find him. I needed, what I needed him for, great meeting you by the way, Bander. I needed him to buy me alcohol. Oh, yeah. And the line was real long and I just needed him to like, can you, can you do that for?
Starting point is 00:22:42 Yeah, help me up, please. I need help, man. I'm too sober on the stage. After all, every human has a universal language translator installed in their temple. I just modified mine to translate human and dog languages. Now before you go, I need just one more thing. Your team name.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Sure, it's the ban. Reapers. The green reapers. The green reapers. Why green? You know, I don't know why green. The dumbest fecking name I've ever heard is what it is. I remember one team called the Weeper.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Real winners, that was worse, maybe. When you said the first team name was Green Reapers, I thought we were going to go with Legends of the Hidden Temple, the purple penguins, the orange iguanas, or whatever. And then so when you started naming the other names, it's like, oh, that's way cooler. I love that there's not like a theme thing. No, no.
Starting point is 00:23:46 That's sick as hell. Like the J-pop crew, always forget their name. The Jupiter Stormers? No, that's the scientists. That's a great name. The Jupiter Stormers, right? That's a sick-ass name. The K-pop crew is also, they have a cool name.
Starting point is 00:24:01 And that's just the name of their group. Like, they're not, that's like not even their racing team name. And she never wants to see me again. Well, that's easy for you to say. Frank Forrest Rommanda. That's the... That's badass. This is them.
Starting point is 00:24:22 No, this is the Jupiter Stormers. Sick ass suits. Right. I just want, like, a headpiece that has those cool, like, kind of anime. Like, it's part of me. I need it to, like, live, you know? Damn. Because that dude has like cool little headpiece.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Levinio, what my favorite characters? Is she Brazilian? Is this Brazilian? I never figured it out. I think you're right. Oh, maybe Italian thing. J.S.I.Neptune. Is she Brazilian?
Starting point is 00:24:53 Is this Portuguese? I can't tell. You know, I never figured it out. I think you're right. Oh, maybe Italian thing. Kevin is saying Italian. Get Nick in here. Nick can find out.
Starting point is 00:25:16 God, I love the look. Yeah, right. Also, you know what? I'm giving two thumbs up to the soundtrack. Now I'm hearing these songs again, now I'm actually paying attention to it. Oh man, come on, come on, come on. I just gotta quit drifting and just drive. I'm trying to drift too much.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Yeah, you don't have to drift everything. Yeah, I just gotta, I just gotta drive, can't. Maybe hit a little break here and there. Yeah. After this episode, I think that's when we'll switch up. Let me hop into the arcade mode over on my safe file. Yeah, that sounds great. Oh.
Starting point is 00:26:01 I do like kind of like just hitting that moment where you know, all right, let off the gas drift a little bit, like, I don't know, it just feels great. Yeah. And the controls feel awesome. Man, I had a race where it all just clicks to get together where I'm like, oh, okay, this is how I turn perfectly. Like I'm turning without even, I'm turning hard corners without even hitting the walls or whatever. Yeah, that dude's headpiece. I want one of those. Like never be able to take it off.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Yeah, it's a little shit, part of my head. Just mold it to your head. To your head. I always just got the chastownik. You'll be our kind of funny. Wraising team name. Maybe like the... You always got the chest out.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Always. What will be our kind of funny racing team name? Wax. You made it. Maybe like the... You always did cut it close. Like the... It's nice to...
Starting point is 00:27:16 Um, dinner box or like, like, what's the dinner box? Like, what do they call that big ass meal that has like all the different, like it also has the dessert and the bread. Oh, we're talking about, oh, what's it called? The, I feel like it best encompasses us, you know. I mean, it does have the box. The lot of different meals. The family, whatever the hell. Yeah, somebody in chat, we'll get it.
Starting point is 00:27:40 What makes, um, blonde lady your favorite? favorite. She has really good dynamics with some of the other characters on the other teams and like there's like a specific storyline with her and another character that's just like very wholesome in a way where I was like this is this is nice. It's hard to say without spoiling but yeah. Gage, yeah, I've I want to call it the hotbox but that's not what it is. No, it's definitely not. you for your kind words I think oh yeah Gregor Aisha meinthe the healths de kopp by Jupiter stormer industries
Starting point is 00:28:27 Swedish he's Swedish let him talk some more Oh she's just being kinder box is that it maybe? Oh I think it is the big dinner box yeah I think that's our name that's our race name I'm so bad with languages Gregor is German oh okay shit Okay, shit. Well, that's odd because I thought only a fool would install bionic arms that are unpredictable volatile prototypes.
Starting point is 00:28:55 That was just gluck. You hasted three years not by JSI have been to know if the prototypes are. JSI has hundreds of bionic prosthetic devices that went through rigorous testing. Many of them by me. Models that give you godlike strength or cook an egg in the palm of your hand. Even from here. I can tell that those contain enough energy to power a small city or blow it up. They just all speak different languages and are somehow translated.
Starting point is 00:29:25 In the future, everybody knows that chat. You just like, you just have different, everybody's got the implants, you know? It's like the TikTok ads I get where like, have you ever seen these where people have earbuds on. And then like, if they're in another country, people speak Japanese, but like they'll hear it in English. That's so cool. Technology is crazy. That's the future. Including those arms.
Starting point is 00:29:45 Gidge, please. I don't understand that language. I don't understand that language. Or I don't recognize that language. Not understanding. Obviously. So what you're saying that? Gage,
Starting point is 00:30:01 Merely. I never could say no to you, Wax. I will say playing Tekken, the latest one, has prepped me for this. Because in that game, they also all speak different languages. And it kind of bugged me then, But then I was just like, whatever. I love that shit. I love how in Overwatch, the enemy's old lines are their native languages,
Starting point is 00:30:25 but your teammates are your English language. Oh, that's cool. I love that they do that. Yeah. Lavignar Ricci Antinori, new character. So new character meaning new character unlocked or just like, hey, we're introducing you. Now you're going to be her for the next however many episodes. New character unlocked for like arcade and other modes.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Yeah. So like, every episode, they'll switch it up to some extent, right? You'll return many times to play the same characters, but there's not really a consistent, all right, this is the Lavinia's thing, this is this thing, like it's all pretty much like whatever we need you to, we need you to play as for this episode is cool how you to play as. Cool, well, we're gonna hit an ad break right here, Bless, and then when we come back, you're gonna show off some of what the arcade mode is, different challenge modes? Different challenge modes, we'll hop into the other parts of the game.

Who else are you going to talk to? A shoe? And we're back. And we're on my profile, so we're on my save. And I wanted to do this on my save because I have just way more things unlocked.
Starting point is 00:32:34 If you go to the arcade mode on the other save that we just did, it would look like a ghost town. Pretty barren, yeah. It would look very barren in a way that's not fun. But I can show you the full character select screen and stuff like that here. Yeah, let's check that. In other mode, I like the main menu even.
Starting point is 00:32:48 So this is the main menu. Of course, the tournament is the mode that we were just doing, but they got multiplayer, which if you go in there, they have, oh, I should have brought some of the review. They have full player split screen. Oh wow. Which is something you never see. That's awesome. Nowadays.
Starting point is 00:33:01 But then you also have online. I didn't get to play much online, obviously, because it was the review period. And like, I don't think streamer was a, is a popular enough game to have like a million reviewers. And so anytime I try to check online, I just couldn't match up anybody. I played one online match last night with like two other players. And I think one of them was a developer. Okay, got it. Now the game's on early access, then we hop into that.
Starting point is 00:33:23 But you have Gages Workshop as well, which is what I'm talking about for like the Oh, customization. Yeah, so each of these keys, I love that as the keys, belong to a different character. Oh, cool. Each row is a different team, as you can see. But like, let's say, let's go to Royceen's car here. Yeah, you can see like the lock things, so you have to unlock different. Oh, this rocks.
Starting point is 00:33:46 But yeah, you can, this is have all these different customization. And you could like, based on what I saw earlier with like you unlocked a new color for the rearview mirrors. Yeah. You can get that granular with it. I believe so. Let's see here. Oh, actually, you have to buy it. Because that's one thing I didn't figure out during the review is I went to this menu to like mess around a little bit, but I didn't get that far beyond like looking at the preset ones. When you get down a customization pack, um, they're, they have like the cart symbols on there.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Uh-huh. So I wonder if that's a thing you have to just then... What happens if you hit X in there? Nothing. Oh, nothing. Okay, gotcha. Yeah, it just makes that sound effect. So yeah, I wasn't able to figure that part of it out. Which was your favorite car to use?
Starting point is 00:34:39 Favorite car to use is a good question. Oh, I love that their team is just cards. Like access cards, that's funny. Fucking cool. I fucked with these guys over here. Gabriel's car, actually, I thought was pretty fun to use. That looks like a Porsche. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:55 Or like a Batmobile almost too. And honestly, like Hiroshi's car is sick. Just for like, I like the extra boost that you get. So let me hop over to the... Yeah, because you've mentioned that some of the teams, they have the different perks. Yes. And it's not just character by character, but it's like...
Starting point is 00:35:13 So... This team has a perk? No, it's character by character, but you have the regular free-for-all races. I'm meant to bring up the team race during the review, but I'll bring it up now, right? So team races are... basically you're racing as a team. You can do duos, you can do trios,
Starting point is 00:35:28 because every team has three people. Team races are determined both by placement and also how many other teams you blow up, like you take out. And then like it accumulates the points at the end and whoever has the most points wins in the team race. It's probably a duo, because I think people are manageable. But yeah, they have the characters grouped up
Starting point is 00:35:52 by their teams, right? And so you have like, again, oh yeah, that's right. You have Kagawa Kai here, which are the criminals. You have Green Reapers here. You have Inaconda Corp, you have Strike Forest, Ramanda, and then over here you have Tuberta Stormers. Let's hop into, I've got this. I've got this.
Starting point is 00:36:11 How long do some of the races get? Are there ones where it's like five laps or, you know? Yeah, you'll have two lap races, three lap races, and then some five lap races. Okay. Yeah, we should be waiting through it. Hop into. The grade meaning on the left side,
Starting point is 00:36:27 is that meaning that you've completely? that with an S-grade or is it saying this is a harder map? I think it means you completed with a S-grade, but I was never actually able to like figure that out, figure that out. Yeah, this music rocks that. I fucking love this soundtrack. Sick. Right. Those visuals look so good. It's certainly got the visual sauce, man. Like they, it has a very good visual personality and identity. And the entropy gauge is on the top right? Top right, yeah. Okay. So you'll see here right now I have like one of the one.
Starting point is 00:37:13 one of my boost things filled up. Now if I wanted to, I could use boost by holding L1. I can also use shield by tapping R1. And then once I use boost, you'll see it. There it is. The entropy starts to fill. Once I get two of those in there, I can then use the strike ability to try to take somebody out.
Starting point is 00:37:30 And what does the shield look like? Is it just like a bubble shield or is it like? No, it looks like, I don't know, like electricity is flowing through the car. Yeah, I missed it. But the L1 you saw pop up with the extra boost as I hit that. I like that challenge of the quick sort of response, the quick reaction time.
Starting point is 00:37:51 Yeah. You need to hit that quickly. Yeah, because it's on top of like me hitting that triangle right there. Because I hit that warrant so I get an extra one and then, yeah, hitting that L1 right there is like a nice little QTE. Makes sense to not have traffic over here. Yeah. You know, there's not a Walgreens we're driving by. Yeah, that was the thing is early on when they said illegal street races, I was like, oh, okay, so like, we're going to be doing this on
Starting point is 00:38:20 public roads and then it's like no we have secluded areas which now now that I've like finished story I'm like okay I get it like evil mega rich people like okay cool you have the money to afford to take us elsewhere for your illegal races is there a hinted at year this is in I think this is vague future okay yeah damn so you got you got slap I got slat by Gabriel right there yeah I could see where some Some of the frustration would be of like, man, you were right in front of me and now I just hit a wall, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Oh, like seeing the car parts in the street there. Our line of a big strike. I want to see a big-ass strike right here. Ooh, oh. Yeah, see, those are really hard to line up. There are- You gotta be looking after the straightaways and stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:21 You gotta be like drafting off of somebody really, what it is, and then be there for a second. Like, let's see if I can get one on here. There we go. And then I think that'll automatically give me an extra boost to you, too, kill up those gauges. Great visual effects to the explosion. Yeah. If it were up to you, if you were able to wave the magical game development one from the magical game development wizard, what would you change? What would you like to see less of? What would you like to see more of?
Starting point is 00:40:02 A good question. More of. Honestly, I would like to see strikes. Like, keep the mechanic, because I, because I think there's vision there. I like the idea, but I want to be able to strike people from the sides instead of just from the back. Okay. Like, if I would go all the way, I'd be like, just make it like burnout
Starting point is 00:40:22 to where I am like straight up like hitting somebody against the wall and like you can see they react to that and all that shit, right? But at the very least, even if it is like, all right, you can strike in the back or if you hold another button or something, you know, you strike from the side and shift over.
Starting point is 00:40:38 So there's that. I mean, honestly like I mentioned, during the review, I like the story. That's a good drift right there. Quality drift. Ah, I missed the fucking thing. I was trying to strike. Damn it.
Starting point is 00:40:50 So that guy's an overdrive, by the way. So he's gonna keep going until he hits a wall or something. Or until he runs that over the overdive. And that's his perk? No, so overdrive, most characters have that. That's basically if you let your strike, your entropy meter fill up 100%. You can press L3 and R3 to go into overdrive mode.
Starting point is 00:41:07 And that'll just like endlessly, like, have you going faster if you hit any other car, they'll get taken out. It was like a longer more consistent strike. Yeah, I could see a, Creed brings of a great point. Surprise side strikes on a thing with all this drifting. Yeah, I could see like a tail. Yeah, like a boom.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Yeah, using your drift to kind of the positioning to strike somebody. Also, I love the UI. I know. UI of this game is still good. That looks so cool. Gabriel Nibb. Oh, so Mr. Mertin.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Oh, so Mr.i's got that mask. Yeah. You can't be named Mr. A with a mask like that. Like, Mr. A needs to be more of the dark shadowy dude in the suit. If you have a mask like that, your name has to be vipers. You can also do a custom experience where they let you, like, get into the duffy of what the rules are. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:42:05 And so you want to control the, like, the amount of people playing in a squad, number of laps. Dude, then the laps will go all the way to, I think, 99. Oh, shit. If you really wanted to go. for it you can do a long ass way god um they can not allow for duplicates like change number of competitors deactivate like specific oh neat okay this is kind of like the customization of of um it feels like smash for battle golf oh yeah you could go
Starting point is 00:42:34 into there and be like you know turn off this item turn off these items whatever the hell exactly yeah that's just the race or that's the team race mode they also have a score challenge, overdrive challenge. Overdrive challenge I've not done. I think that's just how long can you stay in overdrive if I remember correctly. Okay. Oh, cool, and people online are popping up.
Starting point is 00:42:55 I didn't realize they did that. Yeah, the guy with the match chat, the first of my song was like, oh, he looks like the dude from Gundam. That's the first thing I thought. Sport challenge is like another thing. I think it's just like a series of races. Are you by yourself in this? Or do you have NPCs?
Starting point is 00:43:13 You have NPCs, you have NPCs as well. Yeah, let's see one of these. I picked the short one. Seemingly, you can unlock shit here too. Like if I didn't have all the characters, I could unlock some of them through this mode if I wanted to. Let's go. Who do you want me to pick?
Starting point is 00:43:30 Aside from the bottom row, I'm not going to pick the bottom row, because that's like you lock those characters at the end. But out of the main 5 teams, who are you killing? I love the visuals of the of this squad. Oh, yeah, the Jupiter Stormers. Yeah, so whoever you want there. See, perfect boost is powerful, but time you're required to activate changes.
Starting point is 00:43:49 The first time Aisha has killed or explodes, automatically activates an emergency shield. And then you can evolve the ecosystem by using sync, boost, strike, an overdriver driver, more powerful. Okay. Go Aisha. We go Aisha. Wait, no, that's the fuck, that's La Lina.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Let's see some, I like this Forced 13 area. It's all like outdoorsy, foresty kind of. tracks. I don't know, the handling looks kind of bad. I disagree, I think it feels great. It's more of I'm really, really bad at, I wanted to get really good at the drifts immediately, and it's gonna take some doing.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Yeah, I mean, I think I felt similar when I first started playing as far as the handling, but I got used to it, and now I love it. Yeah, I think it feels really good. Those are some massive fucking cannons on the back of this car. It looks like a shuttle. It's a fucking spaceship.
Starting point is 00:45:18 Holy shit. I mean, it is spaceship crew. Yeah, my thing is, I always hit a boost if I can at the end of a turn. Yeah, of course. Yeah, the best. Slow down and then immediately spin back up. Best feeling. Cars about to launch.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Is there a Mario Kart style race start boost? Yes, there is, actually. You'll see it at the start of the race toward the bottom left. an L1 prompt. Oh, okay. And are most of the things quick time event sort of based? Like fan, like timing based. Like when it comes to what the strike is, what the start is.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Oh, yeah, well, the boost is definitely like quick timing with like the meter coming in. And for, um, well, not Aisha, but for Lavinia, the triangle's in a different spot each time. Like for most characters, it's right at the center. Now the different teams and the different characters. Yeah. They obviously all have their own different special abilities. Are all of the cars gonna also be different where it's like this one weighs heavier, this one turns better, there's some better acceleration.
Starting point is 00:46:31 I don't, I couldn't find where they like tell you- Yeah, right? Damn. I couldn't find where they tell you any of the stats, but for sure they control differently. Like I can feel it in the driver. It might be one of those things that you have to like in Mario card hit the button to then bring up the- Yeah. Yeah, they for sure handle differently.
Starting point is 00:46:53 Oh, I'm not playing chat. Oh, um, uh, bless is playing right now. Oh, sorry, yeah, I have controller. That's why he's barely hitting the walls. For me, I'd be hitting the walls on top. Are you able to enable car damage, i.e., from crashing into walls, that's Gilbert. Um, there's a little bit of car damage,
Starting point is 00:47:10 but it never gets too crazy. But like, as you saw with, um, when some of those explosions happened in the last race, you can see like the, um, like parts of the car on the ground and shit. But, ooh. If I can just get to, which we'll call it, to overdrive. Oh, whoa, full, whole.
Starting point is 00:47:32 They're like so close. Damn. Oh, we're so close to first place. Dude, this track is fucking crazy. Yeah. I love this. One more way. How close, oh, the race is almost done, I think.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Oh, five laps, never mind. We're only on three. Oh, shit, okay. We're only on three. I also thought it was three laps. He's definitely hitting overdrive. Here we go. Yeah, here we go.
Starting point is 00:48:18 It did pop up. Yeah. I mean, I need to line it up. Yeah. It's also very sensitive to where if I hit a wall, I'm over. Like I'm exploding. Ooh. It was about to burn out real quick.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Oh. Ooh. Oh. Oh. Yeah, god damn it. This track is so good. This track is fucking awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Yeah, you want to take it back. This soundtrack's incredible. Nothing like a racing game with drum and bass. Like, it's just, it's my favorite. tandem of things. Oh yeah. Like a skateboarding game, I need either thrash, fast punk, or hip hop.
Starting point is 00:49:19 In a race game, I need drum on these. I just do bach, just do bach. It rocks. Joseph and Chat asked how's car audio. I like it. I'm not the biggest, like, car person, like if we're talking about, like, the details of how a car should sound
Starting point is 00:49:33 or it's not another car should sound, all that shit. But I like how it sounds when it's like, oh, I got a shift. Like, I've hit, again, I don't know the terms. But I've hit max capacity on like whatever gear I'm on, like I need a shift. I think that sound, when it kicks in, is like such a good like, it's such a good sound. It feels satisfying.
Starting point is 00:49:52 It feels satisfying, especially when I then hit the gear shift. Damn, this first place racer is nuts. Yeah, he's fucking gone. Where the hell are they? It's not like I'm hidden walls or anything. Yeah. They're just gone, gone. I wouldn't surprise you if like the announcers were like actually first place crashed a long time ago we never updated it
Starting point is 00:50:17 Are there any other camera views ask Captain Awesome yes I have done some races in first person I'm so bad at first person racing It's easily my least favorite yeah I all game oh shit fuck shit oh god damn it no I played the first person god damn that's the first person though we distracted it Damn. Yeah, I did a couple races in first person because I wanted to see what it would be like with the drifting and it feels good. Okay, awesome.
Starting point is 00:50:46 Well, is there anything else you'd like to show off us before we say goodbye? Ooh. Maybe, give me like another city-ish map. Another city, okay, I got you. Now, do we want to try an online race? Yeah, do that. One online race for the road. Yeah, let's race against other people.
Starting point is 00:51:03 See, what we should do, what we should have done, if I thought ahead, bringing another controller just to split screen. screen oh yeah yeah we'll see who's online yeah it's really easy to do I mean do do we do online or you want to want to get another I want to see you play against other people like I want to collectively root against somebody I did that back I mean I want us to talk shit about whoever's online if we're able to find a game yeah hopefully we're able to find I think only early access right is what you said yeah but I mean it's if it's the you know you play early access for the special edition or whatever like that's more so than the amount of people reviewing and I was able to
Starting point is 00:51:42 kind of raise so it looks like we're yeah it looked against I mean doesn't happen something going on okay so this is what I saw last night where I saw that logo and I'm like is that a developer because that's the company logo for milestone oh it's gotta be yeah we might be going one-on-one with the dev it's got to be you got to dominate them you got to lock in do the characters feel different to play you El-Sing. Yeah, we mentioned a little bit earlier. Yeah, they do. And Bless is playing on PlayStation. I will say the, when I played against a developer and another player last night, oh, fuck. Waffle on the run. Oh shit. From chat. All right. It's me, Waffle, and four devs.
Starting point is 00:52:34 Yeah, exactly. If you win, it's a dev, if you lose random Groni. All right, we're going with the dog. I like it. The dog barks. But they understand his language. I never thought about it. I don't think so. I think only his owner understands him. Only gauge understands the dog.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Gotcha. This song rocks. I gotta ask the questions, kid, Jr. I gotta, I gotta, you gotta, you know, figure out what's going on with this dog. Because the rest of the game is people speaking in different languages and understanding each other. That's a good question.
Starting point is 00:53:31 is a dog language, you know. All right, if I go non-verbales, because I'm locking in. I freaking love the look of this car. It is so cool. I love the boxy sort of vibe to it. Look at that fucking drift chat. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Look at that drip chat. Wow, around everybody. That's a good track. Come on, come on, come on. Let's go. Big boost. Yeah, like it. Oh, does it notify you when you're about to get slammed?
Starting point is 00:54:31 Yes, the these things on screen. Oh, okay, the red shit? Yeah. Yeah, so the dog, the dogs boost and strikes up last way longer. Oh, okay. Dude, Wap on the runs in the first place, Blest. That's crazy. They're killing it.
Starting point is 00:54:55 How are you that good at the game already? The game's not even out yet. Oh, nice. Oh, so close. You were so close to getting the death. Oh, oh shit. Oh says bless, bless makes a sick turn and takes a bunch of spots. Also, bless loses those spots in normal turns.
Starting point is 00:55:22 You know what that's fair. We excel at the hard stuff and really fuck up on the easiest things. Damn, a lot of explosion stuff ahead. I think Wafron on the runs like the dude in the last race who was just gone forever. Yeah. Pull up. They were at one point they were visible and then they just became invisible. Oh, see, yeah, that would have been a cool side-driced.
Starting point is 00:56:00 Oh, shit. Oh, man. Saw that coming in that. Man, I'm getting fucked up now. What up, demon? What up Spall. Oh. Oh, man. Now they're coming out. Now they're coming after. Now they're coming after. You're 14th place is not looking great.
Starting point is 00:56:18 It's looking real bad. Does it show you on the mini map if anybody's exploding, I wonder. I'm looking to see if like you see like a... maybe it's the purple actually on this mini map. No, that purple's got to be someone boosting on the mini map. Nope. Two more laps. All right. We gotta lock in. Andy, where do racing games rank on your video scheme? game skill is so low. That would be a cool thing for us to like...
Starting point is 00:56:58 Our stats. Yeah, if we were to do like the... That hexagonal map or even if it's like... You know what I mean? It's like octagonal, like based on the genre. Like, I'm way up here for this, but I'm way low for this, you know. Yeah, I've never been good at racing games, but I always enjoyed him as a kid and then I kind of just like fell off of the genre.
Starting point is 00:57:19 But a cool story like this or... galaxy freaking what's it called the Star Wars one. Oh, Star Wars, Galaxies. Yeah. Galactic racer? Yeah. I was gonna say Galaxy's dead. If there's a cool ass story there as well, like that, that's very similar to fighting games. I need a really sick ass story to get in.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Now that being said, I have skipped a lot of the more recent fighting games with awesome stories just because of time. Tech in Mortal Kombat. I gotta play this. I'd say I'm probably the best at first person shooters in terms of my own personal skill. Or just like shooters in general. You don't think Souls games? No. I have persistence with Souls games.
Starting point is 00:58:08 I mean, I do first try a decent amount of stuff, but like I also am super shit at some bosses, so it's a mixed bag. We can start this trend. Like this feels like a social media for like the 10 games to get to know. Yeah, here's my octagonal skills. He's gotta like make the path.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Yeah. The thing I stuck at though is that I never use the shield. Like I see, oh, I see somebody coming I just never use the shield because I'm always using the boost because the boosts in the shield use the same meter yeah oh yeah so it's like slade aspire do I want to use an attack card or a shield card yeah exactly oh nice oh we're so locked oh do not get last place bless do not get last place oh I will I cannot get last place I just want to finish the race obviously oh no at least it's not last place okay not last place because I think it was what 16 players in that not
Starting point is 00:59:16 last place. Well, blessed, that's going to do it for us on this episode of Games cast plays. This has been Screamer, a game that Blessing said a nine out of ten on the review. I love this video game. And he said it was like, you know, racing about eight out of ten, but that the story just really, really hooked you and grabbed you with awesome, super likable characters. And one that I'm really stoked to try out. I was actually supposed to be the one playing, but we ran out time when it comes to like what we're setting up in here but I was slacking Greg during the games cast asking for a code I was like oh no wait there is one for me yeah I've had on this whole time I didn't realize it chat thank you so much for watching appreciate you all
