What's up everybody?
Welcome to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Tuesday, June 16th, 2026.
I'm one of your host, Greg Miller, alongside the master of hype snow bike, Mike.
Greg Miller, a little one-on-one games cast?
You don't see that often?
Tim Getty's bitten by a snake on his way to work today, bitten by a snake right in the
butt, and now he's on the toilet.
And, you know, crazy enough, a lot of Xbox news dropped.
No, we're not doing this.
I'm somehow missed out on all of it.
We're not doing this.
We just, we ended the games daily.
We said we're going to have a happy games cast where we talked about games.
We're excited about Mike.
Let's have some fun, Greg.
I'm really excited for the prompt that you gave us for this week's games cast.
And I think you're not going to have a lot of fun.
What prompt did I give you, Michael?
You said Snowbike, Mike, September is about to be a blood band.
Blood bad.
There's too many games releasing in September and too many people refusing to move.
And so what we're going to do is we're going to have a brown.
We're going to bring our top eight games of September,
and we're going to talk it through.
We're going to crown our most anticipated
and looked forward to Game of September here on this gamescast.
If you didn't know everybody, this is the Kind of Funny Gamescast.
Each and every weekday, we run you through the biggest topics in gaming,
whether they be reviews, previews, or just things we need to talk about.
Of course, we couldn't do it without you.
So please head over to YouTube.com slash kind of funny games
and super chat to be part of the show.
I want to know your most anticipated September game.
Aaron Lyme, Super Chaston says,
Small September game, I want a shout out that isn't for the kind of funny crew,
but deserves some love is the new remake of Tohu 6.
11 languages supported.
Are you familiar with Tohu 6?
No, I've never heard of Toh.
I've heard of it, and I know I'm saying it wrong, everybody.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
But I can't even find it when I went to.
I thought Steam would have me for sure.
I didn't have it.
Hold on Tohoo.
Two, uh, two, six.
This is a video game.
Embodiment of Scarlet Devil,
2002 Bullet Hell video game developed by Team Shanghai Alice.
There you go.
You get another one of those.
If you didn't know, in September, of course,
you're getting something, I believe it's like 50 plus games.
Right now are slated for September, according to releases.com.
Of course, where we go all the time.
And here's the deal, Greg.
You know me.
I play it by the book.
I follow the rules.
And Greg, if I wanted to expand that even a little bit.
Yeah.
I have some extra games here on this one.
Oh, Jesus.
I have games.
I have what another one, two, three, four, five, six games that I would have like to add to my bracket at the bottom there.
From August 27th, there's Star Wars Zero company that I wanted to put on here, October 1st through six, Rayman Legends retold, Ace Combat 8, Gears, Eday, Star Wars, Galactic Racer.
All of these could have been put on to my bracket of eight games right here.
and, you know, they're still in the window of September's mayhem here.
Thank you to our Patreon producers on patreon.com slash kind of funny.
Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, Delaney the Som 20, and Lacks Nomad.
For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be topic of the show.
Tats, Tats, Tats, Tats, Tats.
So with 52 games-ish, it's always changing.
Game in former has far less.
Coming out in September, hot off the heels of SGF of so many of our favorite games,
getting release dates.
I felt like, yes, the assignment was,
let's do a bracket.
At first, I've tried to put them all on a bracket.
I was like, you know what?
This is unwieldy.
And there's so many games on there,
like two who six,
we don't even know with all due respect.
We'll cover,
when we do the games cast,
that is everything coming out in September.
We'll cover it, of course.
But I said, you know what?
Tim, Mike, I know I can rely on you.
You're always here for the show.
Go, you do it.
Find your eight games.
Put them on this bracket.
Seed them,
which I, of course, that explained seeding to Tim.
Oh, yeah.
He had no idea what the fuck I'm talking about.
I was like, cede your games, we'll put them on the bracket,
and then we'll talk it out as we go.
Okay.
We'll figure this out as it.
So, Snowbichael, Michael.
Yeah.
Give me your eight games.
Can I give you my eight games?
I'd love to see your eight games.
Can I first give you two honorable mentions that didn't make the list?
You're welcome to.
Two games that are on the outside looking in that could have been on there.
Silent Hill Townfall does not make the list of top eight,
but it could have.
And the panders of the audience.
Trails of the Sky, second chapter.
Could have made the list, but I still haven't played the first chapter.
So unfortunately, those two are honorable mentions.
Talk to me a little bit about Silent Hill, Townfall, not making the actual cut.
Yeah.
Also, can I tell you a fun story?
I hear you tell me to tell you.
I don't know the context of it.
Because, of course, it's business.
But Jen had to ask me one day on Slack, like, what is on the bubble mean?
Because her team of Canadians were told they were on the bubble for something.
She's like, I don't know.
They all looked at each other.
Like, what does that mean?
They texted me.
They're not quite in yet.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes, Silent Hill Townfall, I really, really enjoyed opening up and trying Silent Hill
to remake.
I had a blast with it.
Of course, me and Roger had a different experience with Silent Hill F.
Probably would have been better if we both played the game and then came back for
the marathon game.
But you know what?
I got the theme.
It's fine.
And so for Tallon Hill, Silent Hill Townfall, I'm excited and interested, but it won't
make my top eight because it's just a month full of
bangers.
But like, yeah, I am interested to see a first person view of Silent Hill.
It's a different vibe there with the very weird gizmos and gadgets that you're using,
right?
Yeah.
It's got a different tone than I'm used to with Silent Hill, but still within the
Silent Hill world.
Okay.
Because that made my list.
I previewed it as GF.
Okay.
We'll talk about it when I get there.
And shout to Jessica Howard, formerly Jessica Cogswell that you all know from the
community who works at GameSpot.
She did a fantastic.
Like, hey, I checked it out.
Here's what you should know about it.
and got me really interested in the game.
So go check her out.
She did a great little run-up on that.
Okay.
Well, give me your eight games.
Yeah.
And you can either do it in the...
Okay, I was going to say, we can see it.
So if you want to...
Yeah, they see it.
You're running through my mash-up.
I'll run you through.
Let's go top to bottom here at number one,
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave.
Number two, Marvel's Wolverine.
Number three, Control Resonant.
Number four, Warhammer 40K, Dawn of War IV.
Number five, Halloween.
Oh, man.
Number six, Orbitales.
number seven,
Vellheim 1.0,
and number eight,
Minecraft Dungeons 2.
So a good splattering
of games all over the place.
I think you see the big dogs there
control Marvel's Wolverine.
You see Fire Emblem.
But then I wow you a little bit
with, of course,
my interest in RTS,
my desire to get into Warhammer
with 40K Dawn of War.
Of course, you have the fun
4V1 asymmetrical games
that we all love.
Maybe we're going to go through it.
I'm giving me a list.
Match it by match-em.
You're going to be forced on the spot to make your picks, all right?
We'll go round by round, like I said.
Let me run you through Tim's games, all right?
For Tim, who we will just vote for and decide what I'm going to be excited for.
Tim's number one seated game was Wolverine.
Number two, Onimusha, way of the sword, which I'm already shocked by.
I would have thought Oni Musha.
He's such an ony moosea guy.
They would have put it higher than that.
You know what I mean?
Number three, he put orbitals.
Number four, control resonant, number five.
Screenbound.
Number six, fire emblem like yourself.
number seven Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
Number eight Halloween
Nice I don't I didn't expect that
I'm surprised he has that I'm there yeah yeah
He just wants to be tortured by me again like he was in part of 13
Then my eight games go like this
Number one Marvel's Wolverine number two
The Blood of Dawn Walker
Number three orbitals number four
Control Resident Number five
Silent Hill Townfall
Number six Halloween number seven Minecraft Dungeons
Two and number eight
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush which I played at SGF
and I'm excited to talk about
when we get to that bracket.
Okay.
But instead.
A lot of games are talking about here.
Snowbichael Michael.
Lead me off with your first matchup.
Let's take it to the 1V8 seat, of course.
The 1V8, a Cinderella story.
Your Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave versus Minecraft Dungeons 2.
So, of course, you have two kind of already knowns, right?
These are sequels or games in the franchise that are coming out.
This isn't new stuff to you.
So you kind of know what you're getting.
But we'll start off with the A-seat.
course, tell me.
If you were new to it.
Of course, Minecraft Dungeons, too, Steam description reads, drop the pickaxe and grab a sword
and charge into a new adventure in Minecraft Dungeons too.
They then, Xbox, as we talked about multiple times in this show, don't understand what
a Steam description is.
They go pre-order today and get two heroes.
This is Baby's First Diablo.
Yes.
Me, Joey, and Lauren played the shit out of it.
I plattened number one.
I loved it.
I played number two at SGF.
I'm very excited about it.
I'm excited to see it on your list, Mike.
Meanwhile, fire emblem fortunes weave.
And then fire emblems, fortunes,
of course, worthy fighters from all over the land
have come to the capital city of the empire
to compete in the heroic games
for a chance to win one wish.
Among the combatants are four heroes
tied to the fate of the world
whose fortune will lead them to victory.
Of course, we've already seen the four champions.
We'll talk about here in a moment.
Last game, just wanted to be a tactical RPG.
Tactical RPG if you've never played this.
Tactical RPG mixed with
almost like a life sim
RPG aspect is what I think you really
got a hit on of like, yes, it's very tactical,
but there's also something on the flip
side where you're going to spend a lot of time in the game
and I want to call it almost a life sim.
So let's jump in right here then.
My question for you is, will I like it?
You know, I'm hitting Miss Weird.
Tactical RPGs never, not never.
Yeah, because I would say what, like,
Valchia Chronicles were counting and I love that game.
I, of course, am always up for a grand adventure.
Yeah.
We've seen, I can play.
anything, but it's hit or miss if I will like it or not.
And so I look at this and I go, I think I might want to play that, but I also know that
September's crazy. Do you like Gladiator?
No. Okay, then you're out.
I mean, that's where it starts, right? Is that the Coliseum? I think the fun part about
this is if you remember, of course, Fire Emblem, three houses, you think back of the school,
kind of a Harry Potter-esque situation with three different houses, and all three are now
in training. You become the school teacher for a...
class and those class students
are now, hey, these are my characters
in the tactical RPG that I'm
training up. I'm building up friendships
and bonds with them so they're stronger on the battlefield
when they're next to one another on the
tactical grid and then I'm taking them out
into battles, whether those be
you know, hey, warm up battles in school
or they be main story missions
in there. So now we kind of flip the
script, which I'm really excited for,
is going into the Coliseum, right?
I like leaving the school, having
a new setting in this Coliseum and this
big city. I love gladius. That's
an old school Xbox games.
For you RTS or you
tactical nerds out there. And so
I mean, any idea to be in the
Roman Coliseum type vibe,
have the life sim where you're going to be
outside, probably recruiting new
gladiators to your squad,
going out and training in battlefields and then
bringing it into the arena. I really,
really dig. Okay. Can we
stop one second, too? Talk about it. Everybody in the chat.
Gold stars for Kevin. I just threw
9,000 trailers at. I'm looking at them playing side by side
for these matchups, Kevin, I love where your heads.
Side by side on that.
That's great stuff there.
Of course, on the flip side, on the eighth seed, right,
it is Baby's first RPG or ARPG
in Diablo Minecraft Dungeons too.
But like, we saw that this game is really good, right?
We call it Baby's first ARPG,
but it's actually more than that.
It's just a competent ARPG.
And if you like the world of Minecraft
or if your family likes the world of Minecraft,
or if you like ARPGs,
because I've played a lot of Minecraft as IGN fans,
No, but I was never, like, in love with it, but I loved Minecraft Dungeons one.
And so to see and play at SGF, Minecraft Dungeons, too, and see what they've improved,
and hear the quality of life, and here's all the new loot.
And yet, like, again, I'm excited for this to be Ben's first RPG.
And I think what they showed during the Xbox conference and during Summer Game Fest, right,
is the improvements to local multiplayer and online co-op.
I really enjoy that.
I love sharing this experience with my friends.
and I think sitting on the couch with family and friends,
you know that experience of,
hey, the stop and go, right?
As you know, Greg, I have a rule.
Level 1 through 10, none of that stuff matters.
Just keep smashing the A button.
We've moved forward, but there's people like Fran who likes to sign.
I hate them.
And go, I got to look at the stats.
I got to look at these numbers.
And I think they've shown you a great way of like,
hey, we're going to keep the battle and the fun going while Greg stops and looks at his menu.
They've done improvements like that where it's like, oh, I like that.
Right?
Because I do not like the stop and go of the.
early game when I'm sharing a screen with others
and we really have to like pause
read everything when it's like hey let's just
keep going. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who's moving forward
here? Yeah, I mean, I'll save more
Fire Emblems talk because we're going to move back
a few times. So I'm looking forward to
talking about the champions and the settings. So we're
going to move on with my number one seed,
Fire Emblem's Fortune's Leave. We'll go
up to the semifinals. I like
that. Oh, look, it's already written in. I like that.
Nice job. Good job. Good job.
I have a great job. Any questions on that one?
No, that makes sense to me.
Yeah.
I hear you.
I guess for me it would just be Minecraft Dungeons.
Do you expect to actually put real time into it?
And then is it going to be online or is it going to be streams or what are you thinking?
I think Minecraft Dungeons for me will be a, we're going to complete it and then be done with it.
Kind of like Diablo.
Very similar to Diablo, right?
Are we going to play?
Can we stream it?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, we can do that.
We'll call up the rest of your crew.
And yeah, I look forward to like, let's play that game all the way through.
See it through.
Call it there.
I'm not an end game grinder.
I'm Minecraft Dungeons.
If I was going to commit, it would be Diablo.
Okay, okay.
But, like, I want to see it.
I think this team has proven that, like,
it's worth my time to jump in for 20, 30 hours and have some fun.
Okay, fair enough.
Here's what I want to do, Kevin,
because you asked me a bunch of questions we were doing on the fly.
I want to just do Tim's bracket at the very end.
We'll talk through it and do it.
Okay.
Because I feel like we're going to talk about games here.
And I'm enjoying the conversation.
I like that.
So I want to pivy over to my bracket.
But rather than do my 1-8 matchup,
I'd like to do my 27.
So we're talking the blood of Dawn Walker versus Minecraft Dungeons too.
Okay.
Because of course, I think that is a great piggyback off point here.
Because of course,
Minecraft Dungeons 2 loses this fight.
I really enjoyed what I played of Minecraft Dungeons 2.
I loved the first one.
I'm excited to do more of it.
But known quantity to some degree.
And even if it wasn't known quantity in terms of gameplay style,
what I'm doing, et cetera,
known quality of the amount of fun I'm going to have and what that is.
And will Ben vibe with it?
I don't know.
Like, is he going to understand it?
He's going to walk off.
Yada, yada, yada.
But.
The Blood of Dawn Walker is my number two C, but I think could make a run to the whole fucking thing.
I won't lie, because it is that unknown, right?
Okay.
The Blood of Dawn Walker is an open world, dark fantasy action RPG set in 14th century Europe.
You play as Cohen, Cohen, human by day, and vampire by night, fighting to save your family in a story shaped by your actions and the secrets you uncover.
Speaking my fucking language, but then one of the big bullet points over on the Steam page, make the story your own.
experience and shape the plot the way you want.
Embark on the quest to save your family
or swear revenge on your sire
and destroy everyone standing in your way.
Discover ancient secrets lurking in the valley.
Russian headfirst or risk taking time to prepare.
Go alone or search for friends and forge unlikely alliances.
Michael, you know who I am.
And I, over time, have only become more of
the open world RPG guy.
Currently, I am so ready for,
this game, I went back and
him double-digit hours into
Vampire, the Masquerade, Bloodlines
2 right now. I'm playing through. I'm hoping to
get a games cast out about that next week.
Not just the vampire part of it, but
here's a double A
open world, open-or, open-zone
RPG. Like, it's telling you a story and doing it.
So the more I see of
Blood Walker, which I also call it Dawn Walker,
which I also call it, because I fuck it up all the time.
The blood of Dawn Walker,
the more I'm like, man, this seems
like it. Even Kevin, I'd love to know if you look at
and say, man, you're getting your crimson desert
Assassin Creed vibes off it, because that's kind of what
I get from it. But then if you're tossing in all this
choice, and I'm doing all these different things, and
doing the story, and as
Mulder over there, Mielner
says, which are vampires, let's go.
Right? Like, that's what we're talking about here, right?
When I think of you, Greg, I think of an open
world action RPG, and this is exactly
hitting all of those categories.
It will be very interesting to see the final
product. I was actually put off
a little bit by this when they kind of
jumped in front of the wagon, and they were like,
hey, we got an extended universe cooking.
We're going to go to...
Yeah, I know.
I'm like, hey, you know what?
I was really in the mood right now
because I know you have been sold on this.
Andy has been sold on this.
As someone who has not seen much of this,
I was more in the mood of like,
hey, now is the time to sell me on this game, right?
I've heard double A, which or this.
I've heard, hey, we're excited for that.
It's like, I didn't see anything from that
when you start jumping ahead of everything
and starting to do the time skips.
Yeah.
I wanted to see that.
I was like that trailer.
I don't know if I like this yet,
but I'm looking forward to a good open world RPG, Greg.
And I think if this gets outstanding reviews, then I would jump in.
See, here's my part is, is there's too many of these games.
Well, that's my thing is I'm not, my expectations on it are not set on an outstanding
action open world RPG.
I'm looking for a very solid fun.
I want to be a vampire.
Yeah.
I want to decide am I going for revenge or am I doing the thing and I'm making these choices.
They said over there, Whicher, if you haven't been paying attention,
the studio is Rebel Wolves, the studio formed by veterans of Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
So expectations are understandably high, but I am like,
this is their first game, this is their first bite of this Apple.
I'm just wanting a good time out of it.
So what are you looking for them?
Because, yeah, for me, there's like so many of these.
And I am just like you, Greg, I love an open world action RPG.
But there's certain things you've got to hit, right?
Gameplay, what's the loop?
The narrative's got to bring me along.
just a little bit, right?
I'm not of a big narrative guy when it comes to this open world stuff,
but like it's got to have a little bit there.
What are some of the big key defining factors for you
that'll make or break this game?
Love it. Kevin, I'm tossing into assets a story trailer.
You say you're not a big story guy.
I, of course, am a humongous story guy.
As a spoiler for what I'll talk about eventually with Bloodlines 2,
like it's the story and the acting and the storytelling they're doing there
that are pulling me through some really mid-combat, like whatever.
but I'm enjoying it and the choices I get to,
not even choices, but the conversations.
So what I want out of this is,
we just watched the gameplay trailer,
I think you glance at that,
and it looks like,
Assassin's Creed,
it looks like open world,
I'm jumping on people.
For me,
it's this,
this is what gets me going,
is whatever the fuck is going on
with these vampires.
This guy getting turned into a vampire,
but being a Dawn Walker,
but like,
are you avenging your family,
you're doing that thing?
Like,
this is what did not work for me
with Crimson Desert.
You can give me
the most gigantic,
open world that's gorgeous with endless things to do, but I need to be motivated to go.
So them, being that this is an RPG, you are making choices in it to influence the world.
That's why I'm stoked about this.
And again, I keep, it's Bandai Namco.
I'm not saying they don't make great games, but I'm just like, I'm not expecting a nine here.
I'm hoping for an eight, but I'll settle for a 7.5, right, to go through and be
badass fucking Witcher vampire man and the cool-ass monsters and stuff like that.
Fantastic.
That's what I want
out of it.
I like that.
That's why it moves ahead
in the two
seven seed there.
Why is that not
your number one?
Wolverine.
I mean,
come on.
Like,
I mean,
like,
it's Wolverine.
It's insomniac.
It's Marcus.
It's,
you know,
come on now.
You got to see what they got
their sleeves.
Love that.
Michael.
Let's jump over.
Let's talk about Wolverine
because I'm going to go
27 on you.
I'm going to go Marvel's Wolverine
versus number seven.
Velheim,
1.0 updates
and full release.
least. This is a big deal.
Of course, we'll kick off with Marvel's Wolverine.
Of course, Wolverine, of course, Wolverine, your favorite X-Men coming from the
Insomniac team who make the Spider-Man games.
Of course, Ratchet and Clank as well.
You kind of know the formula.
You know what you're going to get.
But now, in more of a linear narrative-driven style, which I'm very excited to see, right?
I think we're coming hot off the tails or hot off the heels of James Bond.
You've played plenty of uncharted.
You kind of know the linear aspect that I'm expecting.
from Marvel's Wolverine, but now
with a very bloody, gruesome
take on Logan. At all
is it a detriment to you that it's not open world?
Not at all. But if you talk to my buddy watchy,
he says absolutely not Mike, I don't want
this. I wanted the open world Wolverine.
I like Spider-Man's formula.
I want more of that. And I'm
over there like, you know what, Wash? I'm more
of like, hey, give me 13
to 20 hours of this.
Let's get 13, 15 levels. Let's knock it out.
Yeah, that's my thing of
I understand everyone
something different out of a game
but to come from
uncharted and so many
other great linear games James Bond
as you already brought up right like
yeah tell me a story and make it cinematic
I also think like and I know there's ways
around it don't get me wrong but
Wolverine and Spider-Man just don't
traverse the same way yeah so an open
world Wolverine game sure he could be running up sides of
buildings and jumping and it's just like
would that be Wolverine in the end no he's supposed to be walking
around smoking a cigar and then getting in a big fight when he needs to.
Like, I'm, I'm happy they went this way and fought what I think would probably be the urge
to try to figure out in open world.
Of course.
And now the interesting part of it will be doesn't land, right?
Is it what we want this to be or should have just been, hey, stick with Spider-Man.
You got the formula.
Just keep making that.
But on the flip side, what I'm excited for.
Yeah, I'm excited for a gritty story with Wolverine.
It seems to be in a different universe that I'm used to, right?
Like, I'm used to him and the X-Men.
The X-Men aren't here, right?
and so we're going to see Gene Gray come into this trailer.
We're going to see who other, what other mutants show up.
I'm excited to see that.
But I think Insomniac has a great opportunity to expand away from just,
hey, all we do is make open world Spider-Man games in the Marvel universe.
And I mean, for superhero fans, gamers in general,
I think we all want more superhero games.
We want Wolverine.
And it's like, yeah, let's do this.
See where they can take me.
Will they get to a Guardians of the Galaxy situation where it is an X-Men game?
and we finally get the, hey, we're jumping between the different heroes like we wanted
instead of just Star Lord?
I could see it for sure.
No way.
No way?
No way.
Really?
For Insomniac?
No way.
I think you got it.
They found this and I think you talk to the people who just made cosmic invasion, right?
Tribute games and they talk about how hard it is to do this game and have 15 different
playable characters, right?
So for insomnia to get in there and do that and have, maybe you could do something with four
eventually or whatever, but I think this is setting up their universe so they
can go play however they want to play in it, which is very exciting for me.
And then let's flip over to, of course, Valheim 1.0.
A brutal, excuse, Jesus Christ, a brutal exploration and survival game for 1 to 10 players
set in a procedurally generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture.
Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin's patronage.
Marking the game's official exit from early access.
Which was in 2021.
This milestone update introduces the highly anticipated.
deep north biome, the game's final major region,
alongside the launch of PS5 and Nintendo Switch to joining the existing PC and Xbox
rosters.
Now, of course, they are saying that that deep north biome is going to be your end
game area, that you're going to spend a lot of time in the late part of it.
Do you want to highlight some other things as well?
The price right now, of course, of Valheim, $20, right?
We didn't talk about Wolverine and Fire Emblem, both being $70 games.
We'll kind of talk about those when we circle back.
but I wanted to highlight the price of this.
I think Valheim is one of the standout survival crafting games of this era
when you put up the big dogs of the survival crafting genre.
Valheim is probably in the top three all time.
I think they did a really good job mixing the survival crafting gameplay that you know
in a gigantic open world,
but they really did a good job with the RPG and combat elements.
I think that's what people are looking for on the survival crafting side
is there's the cozy, hey, we're chopping down logs, we're building homes and having a good
time building our little settlement, but there's something to be said about the exploration,
the thrill of engaging in fights.
And Valheim nailed that with world bosses, dungeons, combat that was fun.
And so, yeah, I'm excited to see this 1.0 update.
I think now is the time, that was the perfect time to jump into Velheim and get to explore
all of these years that they've put in so many content updates, all of the content.
along the way of like, now is going to be the best package right now to jump in.
And this is one of those.
I rarely get to 1.0 on these games.
Yeah.
Right?
Like when you think about all these games that me and the crew have jumped into,
we rarely ever make it to a 1.0 or even are aware that a 1.0 is happening.
Here it is with Velheim, which I'm excited for.
Very, very cool.
So in the matchup, then, who are you voting for?
It's unfortunate because I think Valheim will get more time just because of the game
style that it is.
Yeah.
But my hype level for Wolverine is 11 out of 10 exciting, right?
So Wolverine will go up as the two seed over the seven, Belheim 1.0.
I want to call it, Kevin, too.
I appreciate you doing the colors.
It hasn't gone to notice that Wolverine is in yellow.
And of course, Blood of Dawn Walker was in red.
We appreciate your hard work out there, Kevin.
Okay, good picks.
For me, we'll move to my number one versus number eight seed.
This is number one, Wolverine versus Hot Wheels Infinite Rush.
Let me get Hot Wheels Infinite Rush
is a steam description pulled up for you
Jump into a hot wheel-sized world
With four islands packed with events
Challenges and Full Throttle Mayhem
Collect iconic vehicles
Assemble your Rush Squad
Build Epic Tracks
And earn the title of Rush Master
Of course this is out September 24th
And another one I got to play at SGF
The embargo just finally lifted yesterday
It was so I'm actually able to speak about it
and I was both trepidacious coming in.
Okay.
And excited.
Of course,
this is milestone making Hot Wheels Infinite Rush.
Milestone, of course,
made Hot Wheels Unleashed and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2.
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 was the gateway to Ben playing video games.
He loved his Hot Wheels so much.
One day I was like,
look at this,
and he got in and the rest of history.
Now he's playing Mario all the time
and doing all those different things.
So I know his obsession with Hot Wheels Infinite Rush.
So when I,
this one debut,
it was like, oh, another Hot Wheels game, but it's not
infinite, I'm sorry, it's not
unleashed, it's infinite rush. What does that mean?
You look at this and you go, okay, and then playing, you're like,
oh, it's Fort's a Horizon. This is just Hot Wheels
for it's a horizon. You drive around, there's events happening
all over the place. You know, there's the four islands. You can
seamlessly fast travel around it. Um, you know, you drive over and
I, uh, I wrote it down. A daredevil car will come by with this logo on it.
You decide to erase it. If you beat it, you add that to your collection. If you
don't, you have to chase it down another time. You know,
you're using the cars to smash things to find collectibles,
run through the thing.
If you're an audio listener not watching it,
what I said and nailed during the thing was this conversation about like,
this is clearly a Hot Wheels video game happening inside of Hot Wheels world,
right?
Whereas like Hot Wheels Unleashed was the tracks were running around the arcade and
the Fast and the Furious Garage.
Like it was Hot Wheels running through the real world.
This is Hot Wheels happening in a play set world,
which is fun because everything,
you're driving through and smashing through,
like you smash down the trees and they go,
clickety clack, because it's supposed to be like the diorama
plastic stuff they've set up in the Hot Wheels world.
It's just one giant Hot Wheels play set
packed with unlockables and things to smash and fine and Billboard.
Again, it's Forts the Horizon, which
more power to you.
I had a great time with it. Ben will be obsessed with this.
I think the new forts that I'm shocked
didn't grab Ben the same way that
Fort's Horizon five did, right?
Yeah. Because this is six, yeah.
So first Horizon 5 he was in love with for the longest time.
Six is just seemed like more of the same to him.
I think combining the hot wheels with this,
combining the collecting of the cars he knows.
You know, I was like in there, I'm like playing with the cars that Ben plays with all the time.
I of course asked, you know, in Unleashed two.
I got to be the time machine.
Am I ever going to get the time machine?
He's like, you know, we have nothing to announce at this time.
But they know how to monetize this.
But yeah, more than 150 cars in there to start with all these different worlds that have different vibes.
you can edit your, you can edit your livery.
Is that how you say?
The library.
Your paint job is what I would call it because I'm a, you know, slub.
You can do that.
You can build your own tracks.
Like all that stuff is still here, but it's just happened to this world, which I'm like, yeah.
Okay.
I mean, it's when you say that, it sounds like the perfect formula, right?
When we first watch this and the idea of like, oh, it's just Hot Wheels Forza,
that's exactly what I would think is the next step for Hot Wheels Unleased, right?
It's like, yeah.
Hey, people want the open world racing games.
just like Forza, but like put it in a fun Lego-esque world,
just like we saw with Forza Lego.
Now with Hot Wheels, it's like, yeah, that's what the kids probably desire.
It's just the freedom to drive anywhere, go and have a race or two.
I'm sure, like, Ben, when you first showed him Hot Wheels Unleashed,
remember he was just driving into a wall.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The kids just want the freedom to drive, see their favorite car on the screen and laugh.
And then you progress from there, right?
Having open world activities, having an awesome come to life, Hot Wheels,
world. You see the giant monkey
up there that's not Donkey Kong
but it's Donkey Kong. It's like, yeah, like that's
exactly what I would have made if I was in control
of this team. Yeah. Super
impressed with what I saw. Very excited to get my hands
on it for Ben. This loses
in a landslide to Wolverine. Come on. What are we talking
about? You know what I mean? You know how much I love
comic books. You know how much
I love Insomniac. You know
how much I love Insomnia like. You know how much I love, Spider-Man.
Like, you know, like, let's see what you got.
I, to this day,
crave more X-Men Origins Wolverine,
which had a garbage story,
but it was so much fun to slash people up
and get blown apart and heal yourself.
So the fact that we're hopefully getting that
with an insomniac story,
I'll runaway one,
but no shade to Hot Wheels.
I am very stoked for that.
What's our favorite Marvel game
that got trapped on the Nintendo Switch for the third?
Oh, that would be Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.
You know what I mean?
What are we doing?
That's crazy.
That's still trapped on that.
Remember when, like, two weeks ago,
we were like,
maybe X, Tim, I think it was like Xbox, you know,
or maybe Tim and Blessing we're predicting,
like Xbox will bring all the old.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That ain't gonna be fucking money.
They ain't gonna be fucking money.
They ain't gonna be fucking that.
Fuck you. How does it make money?
We don't care.
We'll put everybody out of business before we do that.
Michael,
go ahead and give me your next matchup.
After I remind everybody,
they should go to patreon.com.

Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg.
And we're back.
Michael, take me your next matchup.
Greg, let me take it to my three versus six here.
Control, resonant.
versus orbitals.
Ooh, okay.
This is a spicy one.
Two completely different games.
Yeah, if you're looking at it.
Of course, let's take you over to control resident dropping September 24th for $60.
Explore a warped Manhattan on the brink of a paranormal natural annihilation in this thrilling action adventure RPG.
Unleashed the extraordinary powers of Dylan Faden as he fights for humanity and our survival against reality bending,
cosmic threats.
And then on Orbil's comes out
September 3rd for $40.
Grab a friend and launch into Orbitals,
an intergalactic two-player co-op adventure
set in a wholly new
retro anime world.
Team up as Maki and
Amura, two inseparable
explorers with a whole lot more
determination than experience.
You'll brave the perils of space in search
of help for their crumbling space
station, now trapped
within the supernatural cosmic storm.
Hell yeah.
So you get a little taste of two different ones.
You're going to get an action RPG with, of course, Dylan Faden and Control Resident.
You're going to get a fun co-op experience similar to It Takes 2.
And of course, a haze like.
A haze-like.
Thank you, Greg, in Orblers.
And so we'll kick off with Control Reson.
I think this is going to be one of the hotter games of September.
This is going to be one of the more well-knowns.
Of course, if you've been following Remedy and the Remedyverse, you were riding high.
off of control.
Of course,
Alan Wake 2
in the return
of that franchise.
Now you're coming
back to control
with control resident
as someone who just
recently played control
and got to go through
Jesse's experience.
I had a lot of fun with that.
Wow,
that was awesome, right?
Like, Remedy
sets to tone
with their storytelling universe,
all the vibes
is like just so perfect.
Yeah.
And then the idea of like,
hey,
I know you really loved
the service weapon.
I know you were shooting
it up with that.
You know I was.
But now.
Now it's time to get into your almost dark souls-esque hack and slash Duffy.
I'm excited to see what they really do with the combat there.
I think Dylan will be a very interesting character coming hot off of the tales of Jesse
and like knowing the story that they had as siblings being trapped away, right?
Of course.
Now you jump in as Dylan's like he's going to have some freaky things going on in his mind.
He's going to be locked up for a while.
He's got some things.
He's got to get out.
And so it'll be interesting to see where that story goes.
And then on top of that, what does it look like outside?
of the Federal Bureau of Control, right?
Now that we're in Manhattan, in this world that we know,
but is also going to be flipped on its head.
And then it will all come down to combat, right?
How does this combat feel?
Is it devil may cry comboing?
Is it parrying like a boss with patience,
like a Dark Souls and Secreau?
Am I just hacking and slashing my brain away like an assassin's creed?
Like, what does that combat truly feel like on the Six?
But either way, it's got so much going into it to be excited
for. Okay. Okay. Okay. Are you alarmed by it being different? You know what I mean? It's not
what we know. I think by the end of control, I had enough of the service weapon and the third person
shooter that I am excited to try something different. And I really like that remedy is not afraid to
try something different combat wise, right? Like I love being in the control world. I think that's a
big win. I think having a character
like Dylan where, yeah, we know Dylan's
kind of backstory with Jesse and
her story in the original. So it's all familiar
territory, but now to be like, hey,
forget that. You're going to be out here
hacking and slash and like, I'm interested
in that. Okay. And then on the flip side,
you got orbitals. Just like, who you're going to play
orbitals with? Andy Cortez is going to be nice. Here's
my problem. I don't have anyone to play
these games. Lousy. Split fiction, I
did not get to play because I didn't have
an Andy Cortez in my life. And so... You
played the streaming schedule. I feel like you
Could have forced Roger or Andy or Nick or anything.
I have to force one of them to play this with me
because there's something about the look and the anime
inspiration to this, right?
Like I love...
You would bear it, do it for an episode of kind of anime.
Oh, that's a good one.
I love split fiction.
I love the story.
I love the look of that.
But there's something to be said about having this
studio Ghibli-esque anime art style and being like,
hey, you know how you loved a way out and you love
it takes two?
What if we did that, but with really cute space?
sci-fi anime characters.
I think that's going to be a big win.
Here's my only problem, Greg.
You know me.
I'm a gamer.
He games.
And I love sharing the passion and fun of games with my friends and family members
who don't game that often.
Yeah.
But I have a large patience for a lot of things.
But when it comes to-
For bad players, you don't.
I don't have a good patience.
So when it is Mike looking at the second screen and seeing you fumbling around,
I get a little twisting.
and I do a good job at keeping a smile on my face,
but there is something to be said of like,
I am the type of gamer that does not like to wait
and my patience is very short when it comes to these style of games.
And so, yeah, when it is like,
hey, let me show a loved one, a partner, like,
let's play these games together.
I start to do a little bit of this and I get a little tight
because I'm like, let's get it moving.
And so, yeah, it's a fun mix when you think of these games
because it is the perfect, hey, I'm going to sit down with my loved one.
And we're going to play these games together.
I'm going to show them how to play.
They're going to learn that second stick.
The right stick is for your viewing and you're going to move the camera around.
And then there's some way you immediately, camera goes forward and staring at the ground.
I don't know the jump button, Mike.
But that wouldn't happen with Andy or Roger or Nick.
Maybe Nick.
Andy Roger wouldn't happen.
You know what I mean?
You can get out there and make it work.
So, yeah, that is my three versus six.
I think orbitals for me is such a positive.
on the art style and the look of it.
But the negative is,
hey Greg,
I've already played three Hays-like games.
How much more can you expand on that and wow me?
I think split fiction had some wowing moments,
but at the core of it,
you've already done all those.
So like what more puzzles do I have in a co-op an adventure?
For my hope with Orbital,
it really is this,
you are playing an anime shine to it,
right?
I feel like for as much as we have loved Hays Light games,
now I get mostly Hayes like all the time.
Hayes Light games.
The story's never great.
You know what I mean?
That's never what's pulling me through.
It is the gameplay.
So if this can give me both the gameplay
and the story slash vibe of this anime,
I feel like that would be unique enough
and it doesn't overstay it's welcome.
I feel like that would do it for me
where I'd be like, okay, cool,
I'm all in on that.
Well, for the way to see when we get hands on sticks.
Yeah, it'll be interesting.
Like I said, the $40 price tag for Orbital,
September 3rd.
So you're starting off the month with that,
as opposed to the opposite.
$60 for Control Resident at the end of the month, September 24th.
So you're balancing all these games as well.
That becomes a factor on my Mike's big board of top eight of September.
Like, where am I September 24th?
Where am I September 3rd?
Because as I said, August 27th is Star Wars Zero Company.
But on the flip side, October 1st through 6,
Rayman, Ace Combat Gears, Star Wars, Galactic Racer.
Crap, crap, crap, crap.
I don't want to be caught up with control at the 24th.
I need to be.
So who are you pushing through?
Control residents.
Kevin already put it up.
He's like, I know where it is going.
Move control of.
I'm very excited to see how they continue to expand the Remedyverse.
And, of course, see this combat.
It's going to be fun.
Greg, take me to your next matchup.
Who do you want to hear?
Do you want to hear Orbitals versus Halloween or Control versus Silent Hill?
Well, we're both sharing in it.
Let's kick off the fun with Halloween.
So take me to your Halloween.
My three verse six matchup is number three orbitals versus number six
Halloween the game.
This could be a spicy matchup here.
I'll spoil it because we've talked about orbitals already.
I'm putting Halloween through.
This is the first underdog story.
Wow.
Number six, Halloween is in fact advancing in my bracket.
But I will, of course, explain it.
You just heard about orbitals.
Orbitals is great.
All right, cool.
You know what I mean?
Like, all right.
Yeah, like it looks great.
I can't wait to play it.
Again, though, I've done that a lot.
Now, Halloween the game.
Let's talk about. Have I done that a lot?
If you're unfamiliar on Halloween night,
1978, no one is safe from Michael Myers,
become the boogeyman or fight back against the face of evil itself in Halloween.
Kevin, I think I accidentally gave you the single player trailer.
I did.
So there's a single player mode to this, which I didn't even know about.
Can you open up Kevin on the dock?
I underneath put a multiplayer.
I misspelled multiplayer.
I put a multiplayer show on it.
Halloween, the game, of course, is from our friends at Elphonic.
Elphonic, you should know for a number of reasons.
including the fact they made a great Ghostbusters game,
Spirits Unleash that I star in and you should go do.
But more importantly, I fell in love with Elphonic in real time
when I got obsessed with Friday the 13th.
And this is, hey, Friday the 13th fucking sucks
because of the goddamn rights to Jason Voorhees.
So now we got fucking Michael Myers.
We got all these years of experience on how to do this.
Let's go make Friday the 13th again,
but with Michael Myers and the Halloween license IP.
And so it will be, of course, one of you is Michael Myers.
The rest of you are the kids in the town of Haddonville,
and they are running around trying to survive.
You see it right there.
Grabbing them, killing them, get away.
Can you save your friends?
Can you get out?
Can you escape?
Like, it's Friday 13th again, Mike,
and you know how much fun, kind of funny he had with Friday at 13th.
There are so many let's make plays,
so many party modes of me chasing and torturing the team.
Like we had similar vibes with Predator.
Yeah.
We had similar vibes, not really with Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters was not.
I didn't want to be the ghost ever.
And no killer clowns.
Hey, Elphonic, you're awesome.
Love you.
You got to do a license I like.
Killer clowns, that was a weird pick.
I don't give a shit about that movie.
I'm never going to do it.
You know what I mean?
So like, this being here is basically the sequel to Friday the 13th.
Let's fucking go.
I think they're going to take everything they've learned to make a really good one.
Yeah.
Here's my question to you, Greg.
Yeah.
It's one before.
Yeah.
You liked Friday the 13th.
though, because it was like a 1V8.
There was a lot of Gibronies running around.
Are you into a little bit smaller core now with a 1v4?
1,000%.
I don't, I mean, you bring that up.
I don't know if my, I loved the game, and I don't remember being one of my hats was like,
oh, there's so many people in it.
I love, yeah, all the people running around and going crazy.
I loved that, but I think you're obviously going to shrink the map to not have that happen.
And so we're shrinking the map.
Let's fucking go, because that was the thing about Friday 13th is those matches went on a long time.
I feel like that was a different time.
right too. What was that?
2017?
That was a long time.
2018.
I remember playing it with Hunter Pence in my
kitchen. So like I'm trying to double
back to when that was, but
that was a 2017.
Yeah. That was, I think
maybe you had even more of an appetite for how long
you wanted to hang out. Now we talk about obviously
how many games there are, how long people stick
with a game, et cetera, et cetera. I can definitely
go for shorter matches.
And so yeah, I'm stoked to get in there to do this.
I haven't even, it's one of those that like
Ilphonic announced it. And also
if we can stop for a hot second, remember when they announced this last year?
And when they announced it, they said September, 2026.
And that felt like the farthest step.
It's like me saying, I'm going to go live on Mars.
Like, that's why isn't it?
And here we are.
It's happening.
I can't believe we've made it.
They announced it.
That's all I needed to know.
So I haven't looked into it.
I haven't played it.
I haven't done anything.
I didn't even know what a single player.
No, it's unfortunate because we haven't been to any paxes where they usually are at.
And they've shown this game.
People have played this.
So like the excitement's there.
And I love the look of the.
this one. It does look like they've taken everything from all the previous games.
There is kind of a sense of like you're a little bit up close, a little bit closer.
I love the look of the game. The art style is like it looks real but not real, which I love.
And then the kill animations is going to be nasty.
Yeah.
Like that's the highlight. It's like when you get a hold of another player and you get that gruesome kill,
I can't wait to see all of them. But it always comes down to this, Greg. What's the maze?
Right. Like each map, how do you lay that out? How do you make it full?
for the player slash the killer
make it fun, right? Like those first
days of exploring all of the neighborhoods
screaming and yelling, running around
laughing, that maze is
very important to me and I can't wait to see
what they have for us, right? It's like
I'm so excited
for this game. Josh, Super Chaston
says, I remember years ago Greg tried to play
for I at 13th with the community and the servers
were messed up that day so it fell through.
It was one of the place, I was in one of the PlayStation parties for
it. Yes, of course, that is a
big part of this. I will be interested to see
How the servers run. Friday 13th, if you remember, was very small, Ilphonic, and did not,
they didn't expect to be big. And those servers were on fire for the longest time.
In fact, I remember, uh, I hit up PR because I didn't even know Ilphonic well at that point.
And that first weekend when everything was going wrong because they were so popular, I sent pizza to the studio.
Nice.
I was like, I sent him a message. I was like, we, uh, that sucks. I know you're working late on a Friday or
whatever it was. So I'm expecting the Jake and the problems and the whatever, but I'm looking forward to it.
I'm not expecting that.
because I think they've released a couple of these now.
I think of Predator.
I don't think of much jank and predator.
When I think of Killer Clowns in Space,
I don't expect, I didn't expect much jank.
No, very minimal.
But like, I don't, I think we're past the jank on these.
There might be a little bit of server issues,
but like, I don't think the jank when you say jank is going to be there like that.
Also, man, shout out to this genre.
Shout to Elphonic for killing all of these IPs and games.
Like, man, I'm still thinking of Texas Chainson Mask.
and how good that game was.
I'm thinking of Evil Dead, how good that game was.
Did they do Evil Dead?
That wasn't that.
No, not.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Stay in the genre.
There's been so many fun ones.
And of course, Dead by Daylight, who continues after, I believe, 10 years they're celebrating now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Still being the dominant force in this area of, like, the 4V1 asymmetrical horror games.
It's like so much, right.
And then, like, outlast trials.
Shout out to that team of like, hey, we're going to drop the killer chasing you.
going to give you four players,
jump in and figure out the maze. I love
these. I love these games. I'm looking forward to playing this one
with you, Michael. That's got a lot of streams going to this one.
Mike, give me your final first
round matchout. Greg, well, we're going to continue
with Halloween. Halloween, my 5-seat,
taking on my four-seed,
Warhammer 40K, dawn
of war four. Michael Myers better stomp
these guys. Return to
the RCS series, Roots,
with deeply satisfying strategy gameplay.
Take command of four unique Warhammer
40K factions, including the
a pettus mechanism in the series debut,
fight through 70 plus epic campaign missions,
as well as replayable last day and skirmish in multiplayer modes.
Yeah, so here's the deal when I started off 2026.
Of course, back in 2024 and 2025,
I opened up my heart to gaming and I said,
I'm going to play more games than just ball and gun games.
Wink, wink, wink. I was already playing a lot.
But I'm going to open up my heart and I'm going to play a lot of games.
When I started off 2026, I said my big board has this.
What the hell's going on with World of Tanks?
Got it.
I figured that out, right?
I'm going to go out and play some Zelda games.
And I want to get in to Warhammer.
There's too many Warhammer games.
There's too many cool people around the Warhammer community.
I need to know what's going on with Warhammer.
And I have not found that game to bring me in, to give me the story, the fun.
This could be the one.
This will be the one because it's an RTS and it's my dream RTS when it comes to Warhammer.
Dream, okay.
It seems to be, you know, I've missed the other ones,
but like this seems to be when I walk by the nerds at the local game store
and they're playing Warhammer.
They got all their custom mini figs painted the way they want.
This seems to be that, right?
And it's like, okay, I already have a great backbone with RTS games.
I want to learn more about Warhammer.
I want to be able to customize and create my own units.
If I want them to be pink, they're going to be pink, right?
And it seems like this game has all of that and more.
You see the roadmap that they're already promoting with more story content.
I think I'll start with story.
But like it will be the multiplayer PVP of like,
will this scratch the hits of a Starcraft,
a Warcraft,
an age of empires for me?
And so I'm going to really give this game a full college try and hope that I get into Warhammer because of this.
Hell yeah, okay.
But is it enough to push it over Halloween and your desire to grief?
Because that's the other thing.
It's not even like I remember how great I was at being Jason.
Untouchable.
And then when Predator came, I remember being really good at Predator.
And then we played Predator with you.
I was like, holy shit.
But he is a different beast.
So here's the deal, Greg.
You just had an upset.
And the more we talk about Elphonic and Halloween,
there will be an upset on my bracket as well.
We will go with the 5 over 4 seed, Halloween over Warhammer 40K,
dawn of War 4.
Because, unfortunately, Warhammer 40K will be a game that I play alone, right?
I'm not going to get any friends to play this with me.
I will not share this.
Rahul.
Maybe I'll give him a call.
Yeah.
So are you into RTSs because I am, right?
And so this will be a very single, this will be a solo, single player into learning the multiplayer all by myself experience.
But there is something about the joy and laughter of friendship that gets me going.
And so I will put Halloween over that Warhammer 40K.
I appreciate that one.
Greg Miller, take me to your final first round matchup and then we get into the semifinals.
My final first round matchup is my number four seed control res.
versus my number five seed
Silent Hill Townfall
Oh!
Another interesting shakeup, of course
we've talked about Control Resident
we haven't talked about Townfall
on this show. You did a brief one.
So, of course, returning to an island town
to put things right, Simon Ordell descends into
a world of tense evasion, explosive
confrontations in mind-bending puzzles that slowly
surfaced the truth of St. Amelia.
Got to
watch a behind closed doors demo of Town
fall at SGF and was very impressed with it.
Fidelity wise, tension wise.
They're like, you know, this isn't, this is an evasion game, right?
It's not a, you're trying to survive is about you're trying to evade.
I thought I like that a lot.
This whole walking around with the little analog TV, using it to solve puzzles,
doing a bunch of cool shit too that we talked about in Friday's games cast with Lucy and
Simon of, you know, rather than your character pick stuff up and be like, oh, man,
man, this is fucking weird.
If there's no one to talk to, they don't talk.
Instead, their inner thoughts pop up as text on the screen here,
which also serves as your quest log and what you should be doing, right?
And I'm like, oh, that's such a smart way to do it.
If a walking room, be like, it smells weird here.
Why would I say that out loud?
I would think it, you know what I mean?
And it adds to that underlying tension of what the hell's going on in here.
So I was really, really impressed with it.
And again, even Silent Hill 2, I didn't finish.
I played a bit of it.
I was like, I'm not feeling it.
I never finished the original Silent Hill, too.
deal. And while Roger hates me
for that and tells me I need to go back to it, I haven't
felt motivated to do it. I feel motivated
to play this. This looks like a horror movie
I want to be a part of. Okay. Now
Evasion was the big one that stuck out to me.
Are you grabbing a crowbar
and swinging away? Did you see any of that?
I did see. Yes. I did see it.
It's, you know, literally though, like the way
they're doing it is if they touch
you, you die and you have like
two hits with the log or the
two by four you pick up, right? Like,
they want this to be very tense and not
necessarily about the, I'm trying to
un, hold on, I open up my notes,
that I put my strike-throughs through. Right.
Um, let me get the evasion thing
to evasion rather than stealth is what
they were talking about. I like that.
The enemies are dynamic. They're not just
like moving. They're thinking. They're listening.
They're trying to find what's going on for it, right?
Yeah, you're going to find the instructions
and do the thing. You can peek around corners.
It's the traditional. You need to turn on the PC,
but it doesn't have power, but then you get the flashlight,
but the flashlight doesn't have the batteries.
it's that kind of thing.
Yeah, combat
and what they showed
is very much like
if they touch you,
you're dead
and so you're trying
to evade them
and if you need to
you can hit them
with the two by four twice
or whatever,
but it's not like
we're dead island
running around
and beating shit
out of everything here
which again
speaks to me
and the kind of horror
experience I want.
This is why it's interesting.
Control resident.
I love control.
I love remedy.
I don't know
if I want a melee
control.
Like I believe in remedy.
period. They're there. I'm there day one.
I'm, you know, I would plunk down my money
for this one, especially in the control universe.
But looking at it
and Andy keeps talking about the big hammer
he was swinging during, it's just like, I'm
not that guy. Like, I don't like the big hammer.
And I know there's probably other weapons in any other.
But it's just like, ah, man,
I don't know. I don't know.
Like, am I going to vibe with this
thing? And again, then it's also the
what are you doing? Andy talked about it
in his preview of like
you're, or maybe it was Simon. You're in the big,
the area, and so the story's kind of up to you as you try to do the next thing.
And so it's like, am I going to enjoy that pacing?
Like, Charles pacing was so well.
The way it delivered its story was so cool.
Like, I worry about me getting in there.
I mean, like, I just don't like what I'm doing moments a moment.
I hope I'm wrong.
Probably will be remedies talented, but I don't know.
Yeah, I guess right.
I give you the hum face because it's like, is that combat that much different than Wolverine?
I think it is in terms of the weapon in a weapon.
am I pairing and am I dodging and my blocking and like how's that working that way?
Okay.
Do I like the weapon?
I haven't seen, I have not seen Dylan use a weapon.
I'm like, that looks fun.
That looks cool.
Interesting.
Okay.
But I also am,
I look at the trailer we watch and react to and I don't necessarily lean into it.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So it's like,
I don't know.
I need to play it personally.
But even like just being Greg Miller,
who knows what he likes,
even looking at like the vibe of the world,
like that doesn't look like a world I want to spend time in.
Like the old.
Like the oldest house, which I know kind of looks like there,
but don't take that apart.
But the open, I don't know.
Oldest house is so much fun to explore
and the way it was that brutalist architecture.
Like this in the inceptiony world of it looks cool,
but am I going to want to spend hours on hours there?
I don't know.
I just don't know.
Which is why in this argument,
I have to push something all over.
My number five seed going over
because I got to say,
I got to see,
I got to go see a man about a horse.
I got to go find out what that's about.
I need to know.
That's crazy.
I need to know.
No, I love you, Remedy.
This isn't an insult to you.
We're talking about great games.
Greg,
we're talking about eight great games.
I love the vibe going for the ball.
You got to go in there.
You got to make some moves.
You got to see what's up.
And so, yeah, I'll go Silent Hill over that one.
Meaning my final four, as you see here, is Wolverine versus Silent Hill,
Halloween versus Blood of Dawn Walker.
What about you, Mikey?
I have Fire Emblem versus Halloween and Control versus Wolverine.
So very similar, but a little different.
It's right.
So talk to me about your first matchup in the semifinals.
Let's go to the first, let's go to one versus five here.
That's Fire Emblem Fortune's Wee versus Halloween, right?
We talked about the joy of a one v4 asymmetrical multiplayer game set in an IP that you know and love with Halloween coming from Ilphonic,
who have really shown that they can be the masters in this genre, right?
I think they've had hits and misses, and I think they need a big hit with this one here.
And I think the team will deliver on this.
I'm excited to play it.
I think we're going to have a ton of fun.
With it, I hope it is more than a, hey, I've played this for 10 to 20 hours and that's it.
I do hope this is like, hey, this is a game I'm down to go back to, right?
I think, I know this is a high standard of like dead by daylight, but I am looking for like
a predator, a dead by daylight where it's like, oh, I want to continue to go back to this
and spend more time in this game and this world.
Because I do love the frantic 4V1 multiplayer gameplay that this is, right?
of like, oh, I'm the killer and I know the different routes that I have to take to cut you off.
I love anticipating what I think you're going to go do mission structure-wise.
That's what we got to do.
When Halloween drops, and I know I say this, and I'm looking at like, we haven't looked at the calendar.
But when it drops, we got to block out like three days and like long, you know what I mean,
like games daily, games cast, we stream the rest of the day.
You know, that kind of day structure.
I love that.
Because we got to get in there.
We got to get good at this.
Because then on the flip side, I want to be really good as one of the just civilians out there.
I think the flip side is, is that thrill of being a civilian and seeing your villain come at you and go,
oh, God, here he comes, right?
And it's like Michael Myers is now chasing you, the cat and mouse game of how do I get away?
Where do I hide?
Hey, how good am I now at getting dropped into the world and go, okay, here's the three steps we need to do.
Let's attack this, right?
And I think a big one as well, it's like, I really want more people to use proximity chat and I want to use that more.
Because I think you take away the tension being in a Discord call,
where it is now Mike and his three friends who are like perfect comms of like,
here's the three steps, go handle this, go do that.
Okay, we're always in constant communication.
There is something more thrilling of like, oh my God, Greg, I just saw you for the first time
in seven minutes of this game.
What have you accomplished?
Where are you going?
Let's try to work together, right?
It's like there's a attention killer when you're on a discord call with your friends
and it's nonstop communication,
as opposed to,
oh,
what's that screaming in the background?
It's Kevin running down the block
as you and I try to hide,
maybe help him.
Maybe help him.
Hey, get over here.
You know,
it's like there's something to be said
about how much fun I have with these games.
But then on the flip side, right,
we're talking about Fire Emblem.
Fire Emblem Three Houses
had a medic critic of 89,
who!
An hours to beat a 40 to 80,
if not more,
if you wanted to see it through, right?
Yeah.
We saw the political,
intrigue, the fun of the three houses and the class
heads of those houses and how they all intertwined
and the different twists and the turns and the intrigue of it all was like
I'm captivated by this story. I'm into this and I want more of it. And now like
leaving the school behind and being like, hey, we're in the gladiators arena. I want
you to pick one of these four champions, right? Dietrich, Letta,
Theodora and Kai. It's like, oh, I'm in.
I mean, and they're all stupid sexy, right?
Like, oh my God.
It's like so fun.
And so, yeah, I think like the gladiest factor for me, I keep bringing up that old school
Xbox game, but like, I loved that tactical RPG in the arena.
And to see the new moves, I'm hoping to get new classes I've never seen before or like really
make it pop on the screen.
It's hard to not want to go with Fire Emblem.
And so as of right now, September 17th is circled in.
red. I'm highlighting
Fire Emblem until the highlighter runs
dry because this is my most
anticipated on this side.
So Fire Emblem over
Halloween. There you go.
Congratulations. Fire Emblem moving to
the finals on Mike's bracket.
For my first matchup over
here, we'll do a 1v5 as well.
Wolverine versus Silent Hill.
We're back to it. And this one
even though Silent Hill looks cool,
even though it'll be a fun experience. I want
to go be Wolverine. I want
fucking be Wolverine in an insomniac game and tear people apart and see these claws go in there
and look how bloody he gets and then hold down square to heal and get the fucking and see
where the Spider-Man references are there any what what are we doing with the other I
stoked silent hill gonna be a fun time I hope I connect with it I hope I'm scared I'm gonna go
hide with there but no Wolverine again I know what I'm getting into with Wolverine I love a good
spider or insomniac superhero game I love a good Wolverine game even
bad Wolverine games and I haven't gotten one either way in a while.
So I'm very, very excited to jump in.
Wolverine advances to the finals for me.
Give me your last semi-fund.
I have control versus Wolverine, right?
Two very similar games to me, action-focused story at the forefront,
worlds that I'm very much invested in, right?
And it's like, am I going to vibe with Dylan and his crazy supernatural,
almost Dark Souls-esque world or am I going to vibe with Wolverine and the Marvellian
and the Marvel universe that I've know and love and, you know,
want to spend more time.
And I want to be,
I want to see Storm.
I want to see Professor X show up.
Yeah.
I want Cyclops in there, right?
Like,
Sabretooth is in here.
There's just so many things.
I think I just know more about the IP than,
of course,
control,
which is they're telling me the story.
They're going to show me more than I'm going to fall in love with.
And like,
for me,
it's Wolverine over that,
right?
So my two seed will move on over control.
Wolverine.
is very anticipated.
For me, my last semi-final
matchup here is number six,
Halloween versus number two,
Don Walker. And again,
this is where Michael Myers bends the knee.
And Don Walker advances.
Again, a game of intrigue.
And I,
you know, I don't know what I'm expecting,
but I'm expecting that right there.
You know what I mean?
Look at the fucking stilted ass,
Bethesda.
We're just talking to each other,
and I'm picking,
dialogue and I'm pissing you off and I'm making you happy.
But then I'm also a fucking vampire.
So I'm biting people.
A vampire ate my pigeon.
Yeah.
I'll get a man.
I'll go get him.
You know what I mean?
All right.
Yeah.
I'm doing this now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like it looks goofy.
It looks fun.
And that's what I've been saying to people when I'm talking about bloodlines right now.
I'm like, turns out I just want to be a vampire.
I just want a little vampire story.
Let me be a little vampire.
And so a giant action RPG making choices, being a vampire.
hopefully avenging my family.
Turn it into wolf.
Turn into a wolf.
I'm excited to see, Greg, if this, like you said, can land at a seven to eight and just
be like, this is a good open world action RPG.
Like, I'm interested in that, Greg.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Tell the good story that you want to see through, or will it be a, a Yakub situation where
you finish you go, where the hell's Jakob?
You asked you.
That was a use of.
Where did he come from?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let's talk about the finals.
Your finals, Mike.
What's your final match?
Let's finish this.
Fire Emblem versus Wolverine.
Nice.
These are two mega games for September that are going to take a lot of the time share,
energy and attention from me and all the other, what, you said, 52 games releasing in
September, right?
And so I have a tactical RPG slash life sim and Fire Embleman's Fortune's Weave that will
see me through for 40, 80 hours.
And I have a really awesome insomniac story-driven Wolverine that will hopefully give me, I don't
know, we'll just say 20 hours of fun, right?
And a story that I want to live in.
I want to see what Logan can do to save all these mutants.
I want to see all the callbacks to the X-Men and Marvel universe that I know and love, right?
And it's like, yeah, that is all super exciting to me.
But, like, I'm in my tactics, Duffy.
Oh!
And, like, I'm going to pick letter right there on the screen, and I'm going to fall in love with her.
And I'm going to draft, like, the baddest gladiators in all of the arena and the country.
and we're going to train and I'm going to pick different roles for them
and I'm going to fall in love with them and their bonds
and I'm going to strengthen those bonds here in the city.
I'll probably go fishing way too many times to level up.
I'm going to definitely do ostrich jousting.
Like there's no question about that.
And so there is something to be said of like if you're into tactical RPGs,
Fire Emblem is going to be for you.
And that's the game for me for the month of September.
Damn.
Do you think it's going to be the game for you for the month of September?
and October.
Is it one of those games?
You're going to sink that many hours into, you think?
No, I will do it just like I did over the winter break.
This will be my life.
It's all you play.
For a week to two weeks, and I'm going to knock it out, right?
And so, yeah, as intimidating as a lot of these games are, I don't know, Greg,
you're playing a lot of hours.
I'm putting in a lot of hours.
It's like when you do eight hours of gaming a day, I'm going to chew on this.
I'm going to knock it out.
I appreciate that.
And then move on to the next thing.
We moved to my final matchup.
congratulations fire emblem
for winning Mike's bracket.
You come down to my number one verse number two seed,
Wolverine verse the blood of Dawn Walker.
Oh.
And again,
it's that call of the unknown.
Oh, wow, Greg.
Okay.
I didn't make the choice yet.
I'm just saying.
I mean, I think that's the thing is,
you know what Wolverine is.
Yeah.
You've played a Wolverine game
a thousand times in your life.
But at the same time,
you've played kingdoms of Amherst.
You've played out of world.
You've played Skyrim.
You've played all of these Dawn of the Blood Walker games.
Look at that skill tree.
Look at that skill tree.
The catch is you're just now having a team from a, you know,
historic and beloved franchise of the Witcher.
You're hoping that they can capitalize on a story that captivates and carries you.
Yeah.
But you've played both of these games before.
You've seen how they play out.
I have.
That's the fun part.
If the genie came out of the bottle right now.
Yeah.
And of course, my first wish was,
don't fuck me.
Because you know how we're always like,
don't fuck us over.
You never,
you get one of these smart genies
where you make the wish.
I wish I was rich.
And it turns out they stole the money
so you go to jail.
I don't want that shit.
Don't fuck me.
And they said,
you could have one of these games right now.
Oh.
You can go back to your desk.
We'll get you off the kind of funny podcast.
Nick and hey,
you get to play one of these games right now.
I would pick Blood of the Dawn Walker.
I know you would.
Greg. I know you would.
It's not that I don't love Wolverine.
Wolverine, you made it all this way.
You made it all this way. We're
proud of you. But look at this.
There's something to be said about Greg Miller
desiring a world to be lived in.
Yep. To get lost in.
The story that will captivate him
for 10 to 80 hours
of this beautiful open world. And that's the thing about
it. Maybe I'm going to jump in and it's so mid,
I bounce after five. You know what I mean? But again,
that's the, I know you love that.
The thrill. I'm chasing all the time.
Wolverine.
I know what it's going to be. Wolverine's going to be a fantastic weekend of me just
fucking tearing dudes apart, probably platinuming it. And so I'm like real good at their
platyms now. Going through, doing all that, but like, blood of the don't work. Can I get weird? Can I
get in my duffy about it? Can I get, uh, can I make this a week? A month adventure. Exactly.
Exactly. It lost along the road. I mean, I think that's what always calls me similar to you of
these open world games, right? The Skyrim moment of it all. Go. Yep, exactly. Figure out what you want.
Go become what you want, right? Go. Go.
Mary and Ork and have a house on the town
side, have a couple children. I'm in
for that.
Congratulations then for me.
The blood of Dawn Walker being my
most anticipated September game. And of course
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weaves
Mike's most anticipated September game.
I wanted to run through Tim's bracket. I don't.
This was such a good episode. I want
everybody else to do it. Everybody else can get out here and do it.
If people like this, did you like this chat?
It seemed like you like this. Let's give some shoutouts from everybody in the
super chats who popped in to talk about the games.
they're excited for.
Well, first, Josh says,
wanted to say this in games daily,
but I didn't act fast enough.
You should do a games cast
where everyone plays a few
next fest demos and then talks about
ones that resonate with them.
I do like that.
It's a very busy week right now.
Me and Nick are jumping into a next fest demo
today, actually, for the afternoon stream.
We'll be playing the new Titanfall-esque game.
Oh, yeah.
From the people who made split-gate.
Invision.
Involve.
It's something with an EN.
Impulse.
Impulse.
Impulse.
Impulse.
Yep.
Snow 13.
September is my birth month,
and I have absolutely no idea
what games to go treat myself with.
My wallet is scared,
as it should be.
It's too many great stuff.
Mob says,
Orbitals is my most anticipated
game in September.
Smaller game that I think
could be amazing.
Still buying seven other games that month,
but let's fucking go orbitals.
Hell yeah.
T.J.
Yeah, T.J. Solaris.
Solaris.
Solaris.
Birthday tax.
