What's up and welcome back to the Kind of Funny Gamescast live for Tuesday, April 15th, 2025.
Of course, I'm your host, Tim Getty's, and I'm joined today by the master of the grid,
Snowbike, Mike.
Tim, I'm the grid master, Tim.
You're done with the grid forever.
How does that feel?
It hurts a little bit.
Yeah.
Like, when you master the grid and you start teleporting people to different sides to then add
onto their abilities, right?
Like, let me tell you what, Tim, okay?
You put that double cast on my girl Lulu.
or oh snap you bring youna over there to get the double cast too watch out but the double cast only works for dark spells so that was pretty messed up because my girl she'd be healing a lot until oh yeah until we got you gotta use zombie all the time for that jack stuff right gosh zombie holy holy right is that the final one that we needed holy holy holy was dominant tim and so i mastered the grid i was exploring the grid i got lost on the grid there was moments where it's like i'm
adding up numbers and I'm like okay
Lulu needs six more levels
to get double cast which then would put
her here but then I need her up here
okay Una needs to come over to here
but she's behind and I need her
desperately to get holy before I go to
there and then I'm adding it all up and I'm like
I need 20 levels but I'm at the end
of the game I'm not going to grind
right because I'm dominating
and so I'm having this back and forth
and I'm like oh snap I'm going to grind
then I played five hours of side content
so I did grind
Damn, I'm all over the place.
You had the full Final Fantasy 10 experience.
I love that.
Because for me, it did hit that point when we got to on top of sin at the end of the game.
Right.
And I was severely underleveled.
And I had to go back after that.
I was so frustrated.
Dying, dying, dying.
Having to watch that cut scene, it was, you know, great music, all that.
But frustrating after a certain point.
And I was like, you know what?
I'm going to go back out.
Get as many of the legendary weapons as I can.
Grind as much as I possibly can.
And I remember for hours.
grinding on top of sin.
And what's so funny, Mike,
is I remember, I was playing,
this was back in the fucking day
on a CRT TV, all right?
Like, there was no widescreen in sight
at this point.
And I'm playing like three feet away
from my TV because the PS2 cord wasn't that long.
And I remember thinking like, man,
I am just doing the most mindless bullshit.
I'm just cycling at my team in,
getting the experience.
Gotta get it.
Over and over, hoping for,
uh, one of the,
damn, what were those big guys?
Um, the, um,
The piranha plants.
The, uh, oh yeah, I think those are the marlboroughs.
The big, big dudes on top of sin there that gave the most experience.
I remember hoping to get them.
And then every time you do, because it's random encounters, I remember thinking,
I wish I could just do this portably.
Can you imagine Final Fantasy 10 in the palm of your hands?
Wow.
And here we are in 2025.
That shit will run on a toaster.
Let me tell you what.
That shit is everywhere, dude.
You can do that, Tim.
It's crazy, man.
Uh, well, of course.
But he myth, thank you so much, Andy Sarrow.
That is what it was.
Like everyone has said, Tim,
you look fantastic today.
Your sweatshirt is very nice.
I know that you got that out of country.
I bought it in Vancouver.
Yes, south in Canada.
At a Lulu Levin, not a Vancouver spot.
I don't know where Lulu Levin's from, but, you know.
Yeah, no.
The funny thing is, by the way, only bought it because my friends were there,
and they're all buying, they're big Lulu Levin guys.
They were buying stuff, and I saw them, oh, I like the color.
I like the kind of cut of it, because if you notice it,
has these little arm lines on it, I don't know.
Like the vibes of it.
it. I was like, fucking I'll get it. And they were all like, dude, it's cheaper here because it's
Canada. Like all the costs are different and like the way tax works and all this stuff.
And I was like, all. And it turns out no, it didn't help at all. I don't think so.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. When I finally got there, I'm just like, you fucking morons, like nothing was changed.
I spent way too much on this. But it was worth it for all the compliments.
Hey, you got a lot of compliments. Your hair looks nice today. Thank you. You look nice today.
We're back together. Nick is back in the office. Yeah. I miss Nick a lot.
You know what I mean? So I'm happy that the whole crew is back.
Greg's back after his fantastic little trip to Chicago.
Great meet and greet as well.
And Tim, you know, we're going to talk about Final Fantasy, Ten.
Yes, we are.
And I'm going to give you my all audience out there.
And I'm going to need you to help me, you know, help me explain some of the lore,
maybe remind me some of the moments.
But Tim, unfortunately, I've moved on.
Okay?
There's a new blonde man in my life.
And his name is Dante.
Dante, baby.
And he's the coolest dude I've ever met.
Okay.
Tim, if you rewind the clock,
2004, 2005, whatever the era is.
If you gave me Final Fantasy 10 in the Devil May Cry 3,
Dante's awakening, I'd be a different man.
Okay, I would be a different Gibrone.
I probably would be you, Tim.
This is crazy.
I can't believe that you were living my best life in 2025.
Like, what is it that's making you,
is it Chris Hanka?
He's a good influence.
Chris Hanger is a great influence.
Steam, sales are a great influence.
That's what's happening.
I took a chance on Final Fantasy 10,
because it was on sale for $9.
Then I kick on Steam this week.
They're having a sale to go hand in hand with the anime, of course.
So you get the whole franchise for like $20.
Amazing.
So I'm like, all right, well, I'll buy that.
Knowing that I've never played them, I'm bad at it.
Like, let's see what happens.
And I kicked it on last night.
And wow, Devil May Cry 3 is a banger.
Yes, it is.
Yes, it is.
A lot of people are going to be like, oh, why did you start with 3, Mike?
You got to sign.
And, like, the thing is, you got to know, Mike.
Three is the one that is, I think, the earliest that's the most playable today.
Yeah.
One, I love the setting the most.
I think that the story of it is very interesting and intriguing.
But the sheer fun of Dante and three, it being a prequel, I'm usually a really sort of guy through and through.
But for Snowbike Mike, starting with three is absolutely the right call.
And that opening shot.
Whoa.
Wow.
He's holding on to the pizza.
He's fighting demons.
He's got the scary guy coming.
Great stuff.
It's great stuff.
But we're not talking about DMC 3 today.
Maybe a different day, Mike.
We also got to talk about that.
Don't tell me with a good time.
Half-Life 2 disappointed me.
We'll talk about that.
Really?
Yeah, maybe it was the time away.
It was the non-stop, it was, you know what it really was, Tim?
It was the non-stop action.
Half-Life 2 has an incredible opening.
It goes from zero to 100 real quick.
They add in some really cool stuff with the grab gun.
They add vehicles.
Raven Home is awesome.
Don't get me wrong.
I love that little horror scene of it all.
But after that, it's just,
just like nonstop cranked up to 11.
And I just needed it to slow down it sometimes and just have me and Gordon Freeman kind
of explore the world, see some things.
So I didn't love it.
But the ending, I was like, oh, snap, I'm back.
They got me with the ending.
I'm back.
I'm back.
Hell yeah.
So a lot of games talking about.
Again, only one game we're talking about today.
And that's Final Fantasy 10.
This is our second part of Snowbike Mike's review of Final Fantasy 10 in 2025.
Of course, we're doing it because this is the kind of funny games.
where each and every weekday we get together to talk about the biggest reviews,
previews, and topics in video games live on YouTube, Twitch and podcast services around the globe.
If you love what we do, please support us with the kind of funny membership on Patreon,
YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcast.
It helps you get the shows all ad-free, and you get a daily exclusive Gregway.
It helps us a lot, too, because it allows us to not just talk about the latest and greatest in video games,
but also to go back to some fun, passion things.
Maybe a steam sale happens, and all of a sudden you're playing through one of those test of your life.
of all time, right?
So I love that y'all show up for this stuff too
because that's what kind of funny is all
about the love and passion of video games.
And very few examples of that
are as tried and true as Snowbike Mike
when he loves a game talking about that shit.
For a chance to be part of this show,
please submit your thoughts and opinions
as YouTube super chats as we go.
Little housekeeping for you.
We're an 11-person business all about
aforementioned live talk shows.
Today, after this, you are not getting
anything because we already had the stream.
We went a little out of order today. And before that
we had games daily. You can check
those VODs out though or
podcast if that is your thing.
If you're kind of funny member, of course you get today's
Gregway. Thank you to our Patreon producers
Anatoli Asked, Delaney Twining,
Carl Jacobs and Omega Buster.
Today we're brought to you by Imperial Factor
and Shady Rays, but we'll tell you about that later.
Time to get into it, the topic of the show.
Tots, dots, tots, tots, tots,
Tom, Tots, Tats, Tats.
Tim, let's pick up where we left off.
Because here I was talking about how much I loved this game.
I talked about some of the things I didn't love.
You know, not being able to skip cut scenes is tough.
You know, some outrageous camera angles on certain characters.
Some outrageous camera angles that I'll never forget now.
You know what I mean?
Sometimes maybe Temple's being a little too wacky.
Hot Donna got a lot of them.
She got angry.
Lulu got a lot of them as well.
Dude, Lulu's little, her like, what is it, the rest motion?
Where she's just kind of like, we don't need all of them.
We finish every single fight with Lulu and she's just giving you a little bit of a bump on that.
And you're like, all right.
But like really what it came down to is I fell in love with this game.
And through and through, as I talk about it, I am still in love with this game.
I finished the game.
It hit me emotionally.
I didn't think it would.
It changed something inside of me, Tim.
That makes me so happy to hear because, you know, I love the things I love wholeheartedly with every ounce of my being.
And people often are like, oh, Tim, Tim's so hyperbolic, or Tim says, like, everything's the best thing of all time or whatever.
And it's just like, when I love something that much, hey, man, everything can be the best thing of all time if it's that good.
You know what I'm saying?
And Mike, I feel like me and you relate on that.
And I knew that this end was going to wreck you.
Oh.
And it did.
And being able to see that was so special to me.
Like, I highly recommend all of you watch the VODs of Mike's journey because, like, seeing him experience this stuff has been amazing.
But the last hour of this game watching you, you.
play through it, realizing all the big reveals and what you're being asked to do.
Yeah.
You know, and having to deal with it all.
It was powerful stuff.
Powerful stuff.
It's funny, Tim, because we're going to pick up where we left off.
And here I was thinking, I knew it all.
Of course, we stopped a wedding last time on the last episode we talked about.
And Yunus said, no, no, Seymour.
I'm not doing that and took a jump, a leap of faith.
And I thought to myself, there's no way we can climb much higher than that.
I know the sacrifice now.
I know that she's going to have to give up herself for that final aeon.
Tim, I'm so wrong because it was a lot more game left and there was a lot more twists and turns that I wasn't ready for.
So let's pick up where I left you because we were in Bevel and we did stop a wedding.
And then after that, we went down to go check on Yuna because she made the giant jump, which leads us into the Bevel Temple, which is the moving walkway of hell.
God, I remember.
hating this.
Tim, again, I will circle back.
If you were 12 years old playing this game
back in 2000, whatever,
I cannot believe that you
solved these puzzles, got the destruction
spheres. Because it is
nuts. Tim, Tim.
That is nuts. To
get on the moving walkway,
watch the green arrows go right, left,
center, forward, and you're panicking,
trying to get them. Then you're going down a level,
up level. You fall off a level. Then they
bring you back up to the beginning. You
are so lost in this.
And I had to bring up so much YouTube video and watch them and go step for step with
them because that was difficult, Tim.
Andy Saro says us kids had the prima official player's guide.
You gotta have the guide.
And if y'all don't know about them players guides, man, dude, the Final Fantasy 10 one,
I still own it to the state.
It's one of the few ones I kept with me.
It's like that thick.
It's like a freaking Bible of a book.
And so we complete that temple, Tim.
I'm happy to say that I navigated it.
I went up left, right, center, all the places.
And of course we got the reveal of Yuna speaking with the little ghost child.
As I talked about before, I said, who's this little ghost child?
Why is he following me around?
What's his deal?
And we found out that he speaks.
And he was telling you to the details of what these aeons really are.
Right.
And I thought, oh, snap, I didn't know what was going on.
I didn't know that they were giving themselves up to become these incredible aeons.
And that's where we get the goat.
I like to call him Baha Mood, but I know that's incorrect.
But Baha Mood, he's the guy, bro.
He's the guy.
Whoa, unlock the dragon, man.
Yeah.
Oh, what a moment.
And so that was a big moment of like these human souls being imprisoned by, I think,
Yevin rituals, right?
And like, crazy stuff there.
When now you're starting to piece together different things like,
what's happening here?
I'm not getting it.
But I got this cool dragon, so who cares?
Yeah.
And then, of course, Seymour comes.
right afterwards and he's like, you're going to jail,
homie, I'm taking over.
And Tim, that's when you get the mega reveal.
We go to trial, okay?
We have a master Ronzo.
We have Master Micah.
We have Seymour.
And we learn about Spira, the spiral.
Okay, Tim.
And what a reveal of I already have been to the far planes.
I know that something's up with my main man, Arin, right?
Like, I'm looking at him.
He's looking at me.
And I'm like, why won't you go?
going there. You're a little shifty bro. Why are you screaming past that guy? You know what I mean?
So like, what's your deal? And sure enough, we get the ultimate reveal that a lot of people in
Spira, they're unpassed and they're running things. And they want them to stay the same. They want
to stay in the spiral. Yeah. Okay, the spiral of destruction. Sin comes. Sin takes. We want sin
to continue to come and take. And we're just fine with that because we got the power. And right now,
Now, your mind is exploding.
You're taking on so much.
Like, what do you mean?
That guy's unpassed.
What do you mean everybody out here is ruling this?
And Seymour, he's smiling going, yeah, I love all this.
I want sin.
I want this.
And then the Ronzo's like, hold up a second.
You're like, okay, well, help me.
And he's like, I got to go.
I'm leaving.
And the master Ronzo just leaves.
He's like, you know what?
This isn't my stuff.
I'm out of here.
And I was like, okay, you don't want to save us?
We got thrown into jail.
Okay.
That was crazy.
so much, Micah.
Like, bits of what you're saying, I'm like, oh, yeah, I remember that clearly.
The Master Ronso, don't remember that at all.
The Master Ronzo was not happy learning that Maester Micah was unpassed and ruling the thing.
And he was like, I got to go, I got to work some stuff out within me right now.
And so we got to jail.
This is when you get the split.
You have your swimming team and then you got Yuna and her squad, right?
And so some wild stuff will happen there where a giant dragon chases us.
If you remember, we fought a dragon.
up on top
and then that dragon somehow got
set into the depths of the water
chased me into these different chambers.
Now I'm supposed to like stop
and find chests inside of this chase sequence
but I just ran for my life
and because it's undead you heal it
dies.
The best thing ever right.
That is a cool mechanic, Tim.
It's so freaking cool dude.
Casting zombie on someone
and then casting a heel on them
to damage them.
that's how it works right yeah that fucking sick or you get zombie cast on you and then they heal you boom
take damage tim it's brilliant dude it's such a cool cool thing and also something i said this last time
but like now that you're done with the game i'm sure you've had to have a lot more challenging fights
the necessity to use slow on enemies and use haste on yourself to change the turn order like there
was some strategy i remember being a kid being like oh man i thought it was good at Pokemon then you play
this stuff and you're like i'm playing fucking 40 chess man
man, no one's smarter than me.
That turn chart will go down as one of my favorite gameplay mechanics of looking up at the top
rights, knowing who's up next, how I can affect it with certain moves, how do I need to make
sure that I'm on this turn chart more than you are, how do I need to make sure that we do
X, Y, and Z before you even get a turn?
Because trust me, there's a man who I'm going to meet later on in this play-through,
and it's all about getting your turns in before him.
Oh, yeah.
Because he's going to dominate you.
Daddy, I'm sorry.
You know what I mean?
I'm saying, it is what it is.
And so we make it out of the jail cell.
And of course, what happens?
Seymour rolls up.
And Seymour now is taking control of Bevel.
He's like, I'm running this thing.
It's going down.
And we start running.
But you know what happens?
Camari says, no, no.
We fight right now one on one.
And everybody's running.
And Camari stays.
And we look back and we're like, we're not leaving our dude.
I get chills thinking about that.
Because we're like, we're not leaving our home party behind.
He's the guardian of guardians.
You know what I mean?
like he's you in his right hand man.
Why is he missing that horn, Tim?
We're going to learn out here just a little bit, man.
And so we go back, okay?
We go back to fight Seymour once again.
And it's not the same Seymour anymore, ladies and gentlemen.
This guy has turned into the ultimate death monster
and has a scary scorpion as a shield that is healing him
while he takes damage.
So he's in this endless cycle of I'm just healing myself
and you've got to overcome that stuff.
But I got Bahamut, okay?
I call forth the dragon.
And I say, come forth Baja, and this man blast Seymour.
I mean, you couldn't heal enough when I was damaging you.
Yeah.
Awesome moments.
Definitely, definitely.
Oh, my God.
Have you seen his character design lately?
Do you think about that?
Because it's crazy.
How Seymour evolves.
Oh, yeah.
The V somehow gets deeper.
You know what I mean?
But yeah, this is classic Final Fantasy bad guy stuff.
This is very much, all right.
We had Sep, Rod, and he had his kind of permutations throughout the game.
What are we going to do for our boy Seymour?
How do we make Seymour even cooler from the chest tattoos, the wicked blue hair, the deepest of deep V's, the ultimate washboard abs.
How do we make him cooler?
Oh, we just make sure that man is the ultimate aeon, and he becomes that.
And then Tim, we get to the scene.
We break out of jail, we leave Bevel, and this is where we stop at a lake.
Or I was like to call.
It's probably a pond, but we're going to call it a lake.
No, I think it's Lake at Lake McElania, right?
Am I right about that?
It just looks small.
It just looks small, so I called upon.
But it's definitely a lake.
And we have our moment, Tim,
where Una and Titus really come together.
They get on the same page.
They share the same feelings of, you know,
the rose-tinted glasses of what it looks like.
Where will we go?
Do I have the strength to do this?
And the line is said, Tim.
And the only line that matters,
and I'll always love it.
Stay with me until the end, please.
Not until the end.
Always.
Dude.
That's what love is, baby.
That is what love is all about.
These two fell in love.
They took the time.
They got on the same page.
They started talking.
He understood the sacrifice that she was going to make.
She was scared, but she knew she had to do it for all of Speer.
Everyone involved she had to go do it for.
And he was like, I'm right there with you.
We're going to find a way.
Right.
And Ricky, Riku, Riku,
is going to really, she's going to scream,
how do we not do this, right?
Because I don't want this to happen.
My cousin.
We all know that we don't want her to sacrifice,
but we know a sacrifice at this moment has to be made.
And everybody's kind of somber about it,
but we have this beautiful love scene where these two come together.
Underwater, dude.
They're underwater, make it out.
Has anything ever been hotter?
I don't think so.
Barrett, when you get a chance,
I just sent assets two pictures.
If you bring up the blue one first,
this is one of my favorite video game moments of all time.
Oh, Tim, when they switch the graphics up on you and you go to this insane
CG cutscenes, this game steals the moment every single time.
It's unbelievable.
Yeah, this is Oreoto artwork.
Orioto did all of our games cast art for many, many years.
But in my theater at home, I have five pieces of art up that represent some of my favorite games.
I have Super Mario World, Prince of Persia's Sands of Time,
middleger solid uh two um smash brothers and then i have this from final fantasy time and it's just like
such a such a beautiful moment he also has an amazing unah summoner dance one uh two uh if you can bring
that up there it's the second one um i don't have this up anywhere because it doesn't fit the color
scheme but uh maybe maybe for you mike maybe you need to get this for the background of your
street look at this tim beautiful beautiful stuff yeah this moment man it so it hit for you oh tim it
I didn't get to watch your reaction this yet.
No, yeah, this one, this one isn't like a tearjerker.
This is one of those of like, oh shit, it's real, right?
Like, the love is real.
We've watched this since day one, right?
When Waka brought Tetus up to the top of the mountain peak with the, on the village over back at the island, and she liked eyes with them.
It was like, oh, yeah, these two have some.
There's a little spark here.
Oh, yeah.
And that spark right there became a flame.
Straight up, dude.
Became a smoldering plane.
I mean, him being this blitzball guy that could breathe underwater and her being this, like,
top tier religious summoner.
And like, man, dude, it's the classic, you know,
it's the studious girl and the jock boy, finding love together.
Come on.
And so it was a special moment because we're at a somber place right now of Seymour has taken Bevel,
the capital of Speer, right?
We are down on our luck, but we know one thing.
We have one guiding light, and that's taking us north because we must get to Mount
Gagazette and go to Zanarkins.
So you don't even have the airship yet.
We have the airship, yes.
Okay, okay, cool.
Before the wedding, you get the airship.
But after this, you are on foot here.
Because you arrive at what, Tim?
One place you will never forget in your life, the calm lands.
And of course, my dude, every video game, dear from software, you should have this guy.
The old man who tells all the tales about the lore is everywhere in this video game.
And he's the best to just sit there and say, yes, sir.
Tell me a story.
And he tells you about the story.
the Com lands and how this area is the battle stage for the final battle.
Whenever someone would take on sin with the final Aeon, this is where it would go down.
And you're like, oh, shit, that's crazy.
We're on sacred ground right now.
This is going to be a special spot.
And I was thinking to us, I was like, be prepared, Mike.
This is where the final battle will be.
The Comlands is where it's going to be.
This is where it's going on.
The end of the game is here.
And the final battle was here, Tim.
For many of you, if you don't know, the final battle is that damn lady
on the chokebo who teaches you how to ride chokeboos because that fucking lady
choke-a-bole that lady will change your life tim dude don't you need to if i remember correctly for
titus's weapon you need to beat the race and have your time be zero zero zero zero correct and tim
let me tell you about that race because of course i did tim i battled i almost thank you to say
this is the hardest part of the video game i'm so proud of you this game this game
this lady should be in every final fantasy moving forward.
And if those seagulls aren't in the choke-a-ball races,
then you're not playing a real game because this is difficult.
It's frustrating.
It's ridiculous because it all hinges on the balloons.
So how you start, of course,
is she wants to teach you how to ride a choke-bo
will be your first time really kind of riding a choke-bo
since the beginning of the game.
You've kind of gone away from the chok-well,
technically all the chokobos almost went extinct
when seeing the entire chokobo.
population. So I did forget about that. Just so you know. And so it's your first time riding a
chokeball in quite some time. She says, hey, I'll let you ride my chokebow, but you have to complete
the trainings. And so the first one is like, run forward, dodge these balls. And you're kind of
running back and forth in this like grid-like area. Then the ending is like, you have to race me.
And it's going to be pure luck because the balloons will take time off of your time. And if you get hit
by a seagull, it will add time and stop you.
And the balloons, every single race, are put in different spots.
So sometimes she'll beat you to the first six balloons, which means you're now down,
like 20 seconds to her.
And then the balloons will then go into this insane open field where seagulls will come,
three to six at a time.
And they are almost impossible to dodge.
It is an insane idea to try to dodge with the deep pad.
The chokobo will rip you whichever way it wants.
And then the course, of course, the course.
It's PS2.
So there's a bunch of invisible walls.
And the course isn't quite laid out right?
Where you're like, I should be able to get this balloon.
But the Chocobo says, no, that's an invisible wall.
It goes the wrong way.
So you just frustrated it is all hell.
But everybody in the chat's like, you got a kid.
You got to get the ultimate weapon.
And you have to commit to greatness.
And I'm like, fine, I'll commit to greatness.
And I battled this late.
It took me about 20 tries.
And I finally did it.
So again, this has been, it's been 20 years since I played through this.
game. Oh, man. Look at this, Tim.
Dude, the Seagles, though. Like, you mentioned that I forgot
about those guys, but where are they here? The Seagulls are going to
come right now. You ready. Here they come. And so you drop this.
Yeah, dude. Oh, my God.
And so... This is giving me PTSD looking
at it. This is the hardest
minigame in a video game that I've ever played
because these damn Seagulls are
absolutely insane. There's a point here
at that turn that you just saw if you're watching on YouTube
where the seagulls come at you from a blind
angle because they're coming from up above
so you have no idea what's
happening. And yeah, then you get into this.
You're not dodging any of those seagulls.
It's the final little circle.
You can't dodge them.
So ridiculous.
So I forgot a lot of this.
So remind me about where I'm wrong here.
In the game, your squad's max HP and max damage is 9,99.
Right.
But then when you get the ultimate weapon and that unlocks it,
then you can do 9.
What was it?
999,000.
Tim, take it up.
Take it out.
Unlimited.
You can limit break it.
It is right, Tim.
Oh my God.
That was the coolest freaking shit in the world where these damage numbers are like,
how is this possible?
You, if you were playing this right, you would get all the weapons for everyone.
Because it just changes the game.
It does.
And so for me, for everybody out there, we'll tell the story.
I got Titus and I got Yuna, which Yuna will be massive for me with Holy, right?
Like, Holy and her doing more than just 9,000 damage is a big shift there.
If I didn't have that, I probably might.
would have had a lot more trouble with this video game.
And so I worked my ass off to get both
of them. Of course, in the Comlands,
it's this beautiful, giant piece
of earth that is just empty and
barren. And so once you unlock the Chocobo,
you can ride around. And so
underneath, there's a little hidden spot.
Up above, there's a hidden spot, and then there's a
cave where you go and see a man
who turns this video game into
Pokemon, got to catch them all.
Because he's like, I'm opening up,
I'm opening up an arena, and I
want you to catch one of every
Pokemon, aka Monsters,
and if you go above and beyond for me,
you catch 10 of every single one.
So it's Pokemon, but then it also becomes Kingdom Hearts
because it's Pokemon of you've got to catch them,
but then it becomes like the Coliseum and Kingdom Hearts,
it's like all the optional bosses.
Oh my God, what a game.
So you have to buy weapons from him
that aren't your weapons that have the special stats on them.
This one just has the capture stat that you, of course, want.
And so now you have to plan out who's on the team,
who has the weapons, who's putting the final hit on them?
And so for me, we went forward and I unlocked a bunch of people in
Xanarkind or Mount Gagazette that you need for the ultimate weapon.
But catch is you don't get to unlock that before, until you do the Comlands.
So then I had to go back to the Comlands, unlock all 10 items there and then put them in there.
Insane.
Yeah.
So much fun.
So dumb.
But adding more stuff for you to go out and play, which I really loved because I'll speak to
it now. The next part after the Comlands is a decision. You can go down into the gorge and you're
going to find an extra secret aeon and a good storybeat or you can head up to Mount Gagazette.
I don't remember what this is and I can't wait to hear Mike, but I'm going to have to wait
for a word from our sponsors. This episode is brought to you by Imperial. We've told you all how

So, Tim, as I said, you leave the Comlands and you have a choice.
You can go down into this gorge, or you can go make your climb to Mount Gagazette and onward
to Zanarkin.
So you're telling me that there's a hidden aeon down there.
Like, don't tell me, don't tell me what it is yet, because I'm trying to, I'm trying to figure out.
It's been a long time, and I've played many Final Fantasy since.
So the icon slash aeon slash just summons, whatever you want to call these fuckers, I get mixed up in my mind.
So in 5th, X10, we have Val-For, is your first one, the bird.
A.k.a. the Coos, yeah.
Yeah, not Phoenix, but like Phoenix. Then we have Ifret.
Yep, A.K. Roger.
Come to me, Afrit. Then we have Ixian.
Okay, LeBron James, the goat.
Shiva.
Oh, man. Shinra?
Praise B.
And then we have, okay.
Bahamit.
Yeah, uh-huh, Bahamute.
Shout out.
Is that all five?
Is that all of them, I think?
Of like the standards.
That's five.
And then the bonus ones.
Yeah, yeah.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Anima.
Which is?
The like demon-y tuna fish-looking one.
Yeah, I put it in the chat so I know.
Anima.
Oh, anime.
Wait, what did I call it?
Oh, Andyma.
Andima.
Oh, my God.
What a story behind that one.
We talked about that one last time.
about that in a second. But we already did. I'm pretty sure, yeah. With Seymour's mother.
I don't know if we got there. See, let's just talk about it now. I don't know where we get it.
Because yeah, right now what I was going to say is, Tim, I was really lucky during my Final Fantasy
10 play through because, of course, I streamed and I had the best friend audience from this community.
Come and join me. And I called him my guardians. I love that. Shout out right there to crabby
Patty. Hell yeah. Who took me through the grid. Jerry, who like, you know, sometimes you get
a thousand messages. And like, you got to sometimes hone in on one person where you're like, I'm putting
my faith in you. I trust you. Jerry?
With the Y. I put a lot of faith in you
and a lot of the guardians. And they were like, Mike, just so you know,
there's ultimate weapons that you could unlock and
there are special secret aons, right?
There are three secret aons that you can go unlock that you don't need to
have before this, right? And so you alluded to, of course, Seymour's
mother, aka Anima, which I called Andima.
I would say summon him. Yeah. And we go,
Andima. Andyma. Andimah.
and he would come out.
And you saw, of course, Anima earlier in the game, thanks to Seymour.
And what a monster, right?
Like, that is the ultimate summon right there.
He can wink the eye and murder people.
He takes you into the underworld, breaks the chain.
And what a cool story of Seymour's mother sacrificing herself to try to give her son a better
life because he had lost his father.
She didn't think that she was a good enough mother, right?
And so she was just trying to give him something.
Because, mind you, right, Seymour, two different sides as well, right?
He's Guado and human, I believe.
So he's got two sides to him, too.
And so she was just trying her best.
And the hands across the neck of the mummy of her and then underneath, so cool, right?
Good shit, man.
And so you can summon oblivion, which is the ultimate move, would take some into the underworld.
Oh, and there's the underneath.
The ultimate one-two punch and then you blow up on the top side.
That move saved me so many times.
It was so cool, Tim.
So you have Andy Ma.
Yeah, so there's Andy Ma.
Then there's the Magas Sisters, the three bugs.
The Splash Sisters, as I call them.
Love that.
Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, and, of course, the distant cousin, boogie cousins.
Those three girls are going to be coming in a lot because they saved me through this
play-through.
When they go to praise the triangle on their ultimate move, and we just,
put whatever monster in the middle with so much damage
and then we come out of it.
And the coolest part with those ones is
you can tell them what to do, but you don't tell them what to do.
It's like, keep doing what you're doing.
Help your friends, attack, or do whatever you want to do.
And so, like, it's very cool.
The big ladybug will heal but can do damage.
You have the lady in the middle,
which will summon the fire talons as the praying mantis.
She'll put a reflect on our teammates
or the wasp one, which will lightning bolt onto them.
or they'll shoot the little, you know, little butt pellets,
which is super fun.
And, yeah, those three,
spoilers for the end,
which we'll get to because we don't have much time,
but I'm going to tell you all the stories,
is they won the game for me.
And so though that summon right there will have always a special spot.
I love that you got all the summons.
So, okay, so then that just leaves yo Jimbo.
Yo Jimbo.
He's the one with Massimoon, the big sword, right?
And he's got the dog.
Oh, my God, that's right.
So he's the one that you get here?
So you go into the gorge and you learn a special life lesson about Lulu
because she's been on a pilgrimage before.
Her high summoner didn't make it all the way.
And this is where that high summoner ended right here.
Oh, man, I forgot that.
It was a very cool moment of like, wait, you're telling me Lulu's already done this?
And like they have a moment where they talk to each other.
She apologizes and she's like, it's time to move on.
And it was like, oh shit, this is awesome.
Is this the best game ever made?
Can we just have that?
This shit was so cool of like, the issue is, is the other two.
Well, I guess, I guess Andy Ma, aka Anima does give you a good story about Seymour.
The, the, the bug sisters, I don't think they have like an insane story.
But like, this one was cool.
Like, I get that and I'm like, oh my God, are you telling me all these secret aons will have like incredible stories about that?
Because like getting more Lulu lore is crazy.
Chappoo and her, her trying to move on like what's next for me, right?
and then, of course, yeah, finding out that she's been on one before.
She had a high summoner, and they failed.
They died.
And it's like, oh, shit, that's crazy stuff right there.
And so, yeah, that is in the gorge.
Then you go up.
And so now, Tim, just a quick moment on that aon.
That aeon's crazy.
Okay, because he does what he wants and you got to pay him money.
You got to pay him.
You got to pay him Gil.
And then the chat's like, you got to pay him by two, Mike.
So it's one, then two, two into four, four into eight, eight in the 16.
And you just got to keep going up by two.
or you say, fuck all that,
and give him every single dollar you got.
No, I wonder what Mike did.
There was a moment in my game
where I needed him to get me past somebody,
and I gave him $126,000.
I said, do it.
And he busts open that sword, and it's on.
Because if not, you get the dog that does a little uppercut,
you get him to throw out the little knives,
or you get the blade.
The blade, baby.
The blade is so sick.
So a fun, wild aon to have.
A very, yeah.
Talk about just a wild card.
I remember not, you have no idea.
Yeah.
Yeah, I don't think anybody would use him much.
Because, like, you don't really understand what's happening.
It feels very luck based on that to get the sword.
I got it twice out of my plate-th.
And I used them a couple of times.
So I tried my best on that one.
So, oh, Tim, get ready for an epic moment.
Because we arrive at the, you know, the summit,
but it's not the top of Mount Gagazette.
And we are met by the Ronzos.
And we finally get the moment.
We get the backstory.
for Kamari because we know
that there was two Ronzo's
way back at Killica Islands
who were checking on our Ronzo.
They were teasing him. They were uppercutting
him and he held his ground. He knew
better. And sure as shit, we
arrived at Mount Gagazette
home of the Ronzos and they
said, Holt. We're going to have a conversation.
And Yuna told
the high priest there, she's like,
we have to do this.
And he's like, we don't let many people come by
here. We're not letting that. She's like,
We have to do this for Spira.
We have to stop this right now.
We are going to go out and kill sin.
I'm going to complete the ultimate sacrifice,
and we're going to do this.
And they go back and forth,
and he says, fine, let him through.
And that is where Kamari faces his two bullies.
And we learn what happened to Kamari,
because those two bullies broke his horn back in the day
and kicked him off the mountaintop.
And that's where he meets Arin.
He also meets Lord Brasca.
And that's where he gets sent to go find.
and be her guardian for chills.
Come on, man.
Chills, Tim.
Come on.
It's crazy storytelling.
Dude, he was my least favorite character in the game.
I don't think all things considered he still probably is,
but I love that they saved him
for the end. You know what I mean? Save all these story
reveals and it's like, oh man, you're
making even the guy I don't care about him.
The best story about Kamari
is right, Tim. And so
you learn so much about him. He goes
on the two-on-one fight against
these two. And the coolest part about Kamari
is he has that absorbed power. So you're
always doing the Lancelot absorb power to try to learn new moves.
These two Ronzos are teaching you new moves, but they're bullying you because one will run through you.
But it's a one-on-two fight.
Nobody else is involved in this.
He's got to stand up for himself.
And then you defeat the two of them.
And it's like, this is so.
And then they give him respects.
They dab him up.
Hell, yeah.
And you're like, oh, shit.
And they're like, welcome to Mount Gagazette, the final step before you go to Zanarkin and get the final summon.
Go forth.
And Tim, once you reach the peak, you learn something horrible.
Because Seymour arrives one more time.
And Seymour lets you know, oh, all the Ronzo's back there killed them.
Done.
Done.
Extinct.
I have wiped them out.
And we're going to fight one more time because I cannot let you get to the final summon.
I want to be sin.
And you're like, Seymour, you don't got to be sin.
Chill, bro.
Chill.
And so you fight him one more time.
And that fight is crazy because now he's turned into some sort of crazy floating crab creature.
He's got arms.
He's got a big floating.
body. It's crazy how he looks.
Yeah. And of course he's got the heel mechanic again.
We got to work the team. I'm battling for my life.
Incredible stuff.
And then Tim, just when you thought this story couldn't get any better, we arrived in
Zanarkin. Dude. And like, come on. And the reveal is insane.
How did it hit? Because to you, Xanarkand
is this like technologically advanced land. Like this is where the game started.
The Blitzball arena, like all this stuff. And then you see the ruins.
The ruins, Tim.
And we find out that Xanarkand is just a dream.
All of these people have been putting forth the faith to create this dream world.
And that's when you start doing this.
Oh, my God, what?
And you're like, if that's a dream world and my main man, Tinas has been living in the dream world,
does that mean he's a dream?
And then all of a sudden, you start to unravel.
You go, oh, no.
What's this game really about?
The ultimate sacrifice is it you?
It's Titus.
What are you talking about?
The dream can't be real.
And you get this insane sequence of seeing all the bodies on the wall, all pushing towards
Zanarkin, but it's in ruins.
But in your mind, it was this insane, technically advanced city.
You're like, what's happening?
It's like, no.
Bevel and Zanarkin went to war a long time ago.
And Bevel used Machina to destroy Zanarkin.
And this is what's left.
It's just these ruins.
And all of us spirits hold together the dream of what is an anarchine.
And your mind is just going a thousand miles a minute thinking about what is, what could be.
But also, we have to go for the final summon.
And so you get the ultimate.
You love the title sequence I know, Tim, of we have the fireplace, we have the campsite.
All the weapons are there.
And we sit there, right?
And it's like, oh my gosh, this is crazy, Tim.
It's so powerful.
You know, what amazing imagery.
One last time of the crew all sitting together.
Like, not all of them know what's about to go down,
but they know they're going to do it together, Mike.
And then the box changes because now we're in Zanarkin.
This beautiful dark skybox with the twinkling lights.
We go through all of the different ruins,
and we arrive at the end.
And we find out, oh, no, the final aeon isn't there.
It's gone.
And you're like, what do you mean?
the whole goal was to get here
to make the sacrifice
to fight the one and only sin
we have to be done
and they're like no
you're looking for Unileaska
you're like what the hell's Unileaska
Let me tell you what Tim
Unalesca is the baddest of baddies
Here I am
I'm looking up statues de lulu
I'm about to buy a statue of Lulu
I'm like do they make Donna statues
Forget all that I gotta go buy a statue
of Unileca
This lady is
the baddest and she looks at us. She's like, you can make the sacrifice right now. You die to me.
You defeat me or you die? And you're like, what? And you go into the ultimate fight with
Utilaska. There's so many great fights towards the end of the end of the game. Tim, so many great
fights. And so yeah, Unaleska, she tempts us with glory, but we know we got to be better. We got to
defeat her. So we defeat Unalaska. And I mean, Tim, there's so much more because now we're not done.
now we know we have to go back to Bevel
where the final fight will be.
We're going to use the hymn to summon
Sin. And so we get on the ship
with our boy Sid. We say put out the call.
Tell everybody to start the hymn.
And he's like, what do you mean? It's like start the him.
And you hear the hymn build.
And you're like, oh my God, bro.
We're summoning sin and we're going to fight sin.
How crazy is it?
Tim! This shit is insane.
And it's like,
Okay, sin has arrived and it's time for the fight, right?
And we got Sid flying the jet.
We can't figure out how to get inside of sin,
but now we're fighting for our lives.
Chop off both of its arms, the two big fins.
Well, we still can't get inside of it.
Sid's like, no, we're busting in on that one, right?
And so then we bust on top of it.
And he's like, we can't do it.
I got to repair the guns.
Like, we're not prepared.
And Tinas says one of the all-time greatest lines,
as a blitzballer, if you got the ball, you've got to go forward.
And you're like, what?
What do you mean?
And so we fucking jump on this thing and we fucking bust through.
And now we're inside of sin.
And it's like, what do you mean we're inside of sin?
Of course, because we learned about who?
You Yevin.
It's not our dad.
Our dad might be sin, but there's somebody pulling the strings and it's you Yevin.
Because you Yevin wanted this.
And you're like, what?
How do we keep adding on to this story?
Where did you Yevin come from?
And so now we know we got to get after you, Yevin.
And so sin, inside of sin, big battles inside of sin.
Inside of sin will make you, we'll give you the make-a-break moment of like, are you ready for this?
Yep.
Because those battles leading up to just fight, Jeked as your dad are tough as can be tough as nails.
There's moments where you'll die.
You met that one jabroney.
There's one monster who you kill, but then self-destructs and kills everybody.
You're like, well, what's up with that?
You're like, that sucks, you know what I mean?
And so then you have to restart because it saves.
That shit was crazy.
And so make it through there, you fight Jeked.
And man, oh, man, what a moment is.
Oh, my gosh, Tim.
We didn't even have the moment of when Tetus is on the jet plane and he takes
unisphere of her last words that he found and chucks it and goes, you won't need this anymore.
And she's like, no.
And it's like, oh, my God, I forgot about her last words.
hearing those up at Zanarkin, and then him throwing that away going, you won't need this.
Because the goal is simple.
She's not making that sacrifice.
Ricky and Titus will do anything in their power to make sure that doesn't happen, man.
And oh gosh, incredible stuff.
And so we meet Dad.
We have a real moment, right?
Dad, thanks, Aren, for getting us here.
We say, what up, Dad.
Dad clearly, you know Dad has tried his best.
He wants to be a better man, okay?
He didn't leave us in the right place.
Now he's a little bit better.
And he wants to atone for that.
And we get the best line.
Yes, we do.
Hey, Dad.
Yeah.
I hate you.
And he, you know.
You know.
You know.
It's that like that line delivery like has stuck with me since fucking six or seven years old.
Like that is a moment, man.
It's so good.
But you feel it inside.
You're like, oh, fuck you dad.
Like that's tough, man.
I love you.
It's just two bros trying to say they love each other.
but they got some history.
Yeah.
Okay.
And we weren't able to work it out.
They weren't, man.
Something's happened.
Right.
And like, we learned about how Jeked became, like, got to this world, how him and
Aaron teamed up with Lord Brasca.
Like, what an insane story.
Great stuff.
Make a game.
Okay.
We wanted it for 20 years, Mike.
Here's the game.
Make the game of those three gibronies getting checked out of jail saying you're coming with me,
bro, bro, bro.
And we're going on this journey.
Let me see a father grow and become a better day.
add here. And so he says, just so
you know, once this begins, there's no
going back, you have to stop me.
And he takes a step back.
Okay, hey, gamer, this is where
you're going to need to grind. There's no
going back after this. Check yourself
because you're about to grind here. And
he takes the step off, just like
Yuna. And he, Teetis is like, no.
And it's like, oh shit, what happens?
And somehow, the soundtrack to this game
has been phenomenal.
It has been some of the best music.
in video games I've ever heard.
Some of the best music in general around.
And they say, fuck all that.
We're going to give you face melting metal music.
Happy metal, baby.
We're going to rip this off right now.
And he comes out.
He's this giant monster.
Looks like almost the genie from Aladdin, right?
He's like the evil genie.
And you start to fight.
And he is doing everything in his power.
He's got two totems behind him that are spinning,
that will heal him.
He has a big sword swipe.
that'll stop you.
He's putting you into stone and petrifying you.
He's doing everything to slow you down.
And you really, at this moment, you have to look at yourself and say,
have I grinded enough?
Do I have the right weapons?
Do I have a plan?
And I got my butt whooped the first night.
I got slapped around.
And I was like, what do I got to do?
And me and the guardians out there, we knew that I could get to phase two.
But the question is, is what do we need?
And so we broke it down.
We said, I need you.
Una, I need Titus, I need Arn.
Each one of these people are going to do a very special task on this, right?
Yuna is going to start off.
She's going to put the bubble protection on all of us.
Titus is then going to put haste on everybody, and he's also going to, you know, give a little cheer, okay?
Then, Yuna's going to go to holy damage.
She's going to be the damage person.
Titus, guess what, big dog?
You're just going to heal.
That girl can't go down.
I need you to heal.
Arin, I need you to perform all the brakes, okay?
Metal break.
mental break, power break, armor break.
I don't care what break it is.
Restroom break, break him.
Okay, break him off.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so he said, don't use a summon in phase one.
Get to phase two, you can do it.
And so I got reflect, I got protection on, I got haste on,
we're in this motion of, I hit him, he hits me, I do a heel,
we go in the cycle, which is where you want to be, right?
I'm in the eye of the storm, and I get to phase two.
And this is where things can get real tricky here if you're not
prepared because if he does the ultimate inject bomb on you where he's the giant blitzball
summoned a ball and drops it on you and then there's even more damage it's over so what do i do
i call upon the splash sisters okay the bug twins i call in the threesome and they come in they put
them in the triangle right and my first attempt tim i swear to god we come out of the triangle we're
up right now i'm like yes this is going to be my win what happens ladybug zero mp which
means she just takes a break all fight long.
Wiped. Wiped. Rinse and repeat.
Throw it all the way back. I get back to the girls.
We do the ultimate. She's got 200 MP.
Everybody's got MP. And I'm like, let's pop off.
She's doing damage. She's doing damage. The Hornet girls doing damage.
We're sharing damage. We're healing each other.
Hey, if somebody goes down, we got a revive, which is super cool, right?
Those girls mop the floor with Daddy Jack. It was awesome, Tim.
And it's like, what a moment.
And there you are thinking, I've done it.
I've climbed the mountaintop.
And they're like, oh, you thought this was done?
It's you, Yevin time.
Yeah.
And what is you Yevin?
Oh, man, nothing like you could ever expect.
You couldn't expect.
You think what you come off of object and Seymour and the world, you're like, what could
you Yevin be?
No, you Yevin's just this weird floating fucking scarp thing, but he's summoning your
other summons.
And you have to call forth.
your aons one by one and say goodbye.
You got to set them free, Tim.
Oh my God.
What a brutal end to this story.
Tim.
The whole concept of sacrifice.
We're the whole time you know what you're doing and we have to sacrifice Yuna.
And here it is.
Nope, we're going to flip that.
But on top of that, we're still going to make you kill all your homies.
You summon them one by one.
And so now I'm going down the list.
I bring out coups.
I say, coos, thank you so much.
I didn't use you at all, but I love you.
okay, I bring out LaGote.
I say, LaGote, you had a couple of moments.
You're the goat.
I love you.
Shinra didn't really mess with you enough.
I should have.
You're the baddie.
You're out there, right?
I call forth everybody.
And then who would I call forth at the end?
Roger.
Because fucking Roger, aka Iffred,
got me through so many battles.
And one battles that he should not have won.
And this is when it's setting into it.
Like at first you're like, I don't understand.
But when you call for six of them,
they go, you start to feel it. And there I was. I was attached to Roger. I was like, I don't
want to let Roger go. Yeah. And it's like, you have to set free the spirits. It's time to say
goodbye. And so you start to say goodbye to each and every one of them. You defeat you, Yev and Tim,
and we have defeated sin. But at what price, Tim? And so now we stand there. Oh, my God.
And everyone sees it. Sin is destroyed. Spira is saved. It's this beautiful.
moment of everybody looks up and you get
callbacks. There's the captain of the
Chocobo Army, right? You get the callbacks
to Bevel. Everybody sees it.
Shout out to that one lady. Shalinda.
Shalinda's now running Bevel. I don't know
if you remember. But Master
Brika dies. Seymour leaves.
And we see a moment of like,
Shilinda's like, everybody's a disarray. I guess I'm just
in charge now. And you're like, hell yeah, you're leading
that, Bevel. Good for you. And so
everybody has this moment. And
there he goes. Aron starts
to fade. He starts to pass. He starts
turning into it's time for the dream to be done.
Right?
We cannot be dreaming anymore.
And Orange starts to go.
His theme song kicks in.
Bad asses fuck.
God, man.
This is a amazing kickoff to one of my favorite video game.
Unreal, Tim.
Look at this.
And there you are sitting there.
And what happens?
Tita steps up.
Says, hey, guys, this is my last time too.
And everybody, unless you're you and a not quite sure what's happening.
Yeah.
Everybody kind of gives him a look like, I don't know what you're talking about.
Going to this beautiful CG cut scene.
Oh my God.
Here it is.
And he walks towards her.
It's like, I got to go.
I'm getting, I'm getting chills.
I know.
Because it hurts.
Her shaking her head like that, man.
He walks through her.
And it's like, what?
Oh my God.
No, Tim.
But then it's the backwards hug as he walks through.
It's like, dude.
It's the Titanic moment, bro.
It is, man.
It is.
I need to distract myself.
from thinking too hard about it because I will start to cry.
This shit hits so freaking hard.
The music of this, the end right here, I use the music in my vows.
I love this stuff.
It is powerful freaking shit.
And you think, okay, I get what's happening?
This is sad.
This is emotional.
Mike, what did it do to you?
When he jumps off this airship, he starts seeing everybody.
He sees R and he sees Brasca.
He sees his dad.
Tim.
High five as he just goes into the ether.
Oh, my gosh.
What a moment, of course, as we watch it live here on YouTube.
If you're watching, if you're listening, you know the moment.
We're looking at it.
Here comes a high five.
And it's just like, so perfect.
This is up there with like listening to simple and clean for the first time.
We're like, oh, this is hitting me on a different level.
I was not prepared for.
Yeah.
Like, it is a battle to get to this moment and you are exhausted.
After fighting Jek, after the summons, like, you're at a state where you're like,
I need a break, right?
I need a lot of water.
I need to go take a walk.
But this happens so fast that it's like,
oh no,
we have to hit you with something.
And he goes.
And you're like,
oh my God,
he had to say goodbye
because it was the ultimate sacrifice.
Yeah.
And then we get this beautiful scene of Yuna.
She's in Bevel,
bringing everybody back together.
Great speech.
Great speech.
Great leader.
Because we know that Spira has to move forward.
Oh, my God.
In the speech,
she says something like,
like the loved ones we've saved,
the loved ones we've lost, and the dreams that have faded.
Oh, damn.
God.
And so that's the end of Final Fantasy 10.
Kind of.
People were like, Mike.
We get the whistle.
She whistled him.
She whistled on the beach.
And I was like, I screamed out loud.
I said, just do the whistle back.
Someone whistle back.
And there was no whistle back.
But you watch the credits and you get the end game.
You get the little cut scene.
and it is Titus.
And he has awoken and he starts to swim up.
And I, in my world, in my snowmike Mike mind,
will end that by him getting to the surface and hearing the whistle.
That's how my...
That's what you want.
That's how my end goes.
And Mike, I'm right there with you.
For years after this, I would think about it.
I'd go on forums.
I would look, I'm like, what happens next?
I need to know.
Is there a candid answer?
Like, he hears a whistle, right?
He has to hear the whistle, Tim.
What an experience, though?
man. I'm so happy that it hit you as hard as I would hope that it would.
I gave myself to it, Tim. It was one of those of, I think we all talk about it.
We always laugh, right? Snowmike Mike, the dude bro shooter guy. He's playing dumb fall guys.
He's playing schedule one with his buddies. He's not playing those games. And I told you in
2004, I'm going to step out of my box. I'm going to try different games. And I've been
exposed to a lot of great games. I've tried things. But this was truly the one where it's like,
I'm really going to sit here and play a JRP.
I'm going to play a turn-based game all the way through, right?
Don't get more turn-based than this.
I've played a lot of turn-based games in my day,
but this is the epitome of,
if you think of a turn-based J-R-PG,
this is what it felt like, this is what it looked like.
And I said, I'm going to do it.
And the first stream, I was hooked.
I was like, this story is going to be something I'm in.
And I had support.
Like I said, Crappy Patty took me through the grid.
I had all the best friends watching
and, like, hearing their memories,
their moments that they love,
them being excited,
fueled me to keep going.
And also, I mean, the carrot at the end of the stick.
Every single time I stopped playing, there was more I needed to know, right?
I needed to go to that next spot.
I needed to know what was going on.
I needed to know if we were ever going to see Dad again.
We're going to defeat Dad.
And it was perfect, Tim.
It was so much fun.
I loved this game.
I cannot believe that I walk away going, I loved this Final Fantasy experience.
And for you, Tim, I want you to know that I, later that night, watched almost all.
of the Final Fantasy trailers
for all the other games.
I love that for you.
8, 9, 12, 13.
We watch some 14, of course.
14's a little wacky because it's the M.O.
There's a lot of them.
15, 16.
We watched them all.
And Tim, there are some winners in there.
Oh, yeah?
There are some trailers that are like,
okay, let's play that.
Like, that looks really cool.
What pulled you the most?
13 pulled me the most.
You know what?
13 is my number one right now.
Because Lightning has very good music.
They show off a lot of cool mech summons.
They seem to have a cool crew.
Number...
Who's the guy with the sword blades?
They got guns.
Oh, that's eight.
Okay, eight, fantastic.
Eight was number two.
Ben Stars is fairly good.
Number three is 10-2 because of the music.
The girls, you instantly know, the music is fantastic.
And then after that, I think it's 12.
but 12 turns into Star Wars
there's a trailer that is just like
oh they make it seem so grand
this epic scale and it is like a phantom
menace Star Wars level trailer
we're like oh they're just making Star Wars like that's crazy
I don't think you'd like 12 that much
I could be wrong I'm open I do think 13 is more your vibe
13 is it's a bit more linear like 10
got a lot of hate back in the day but I think that overall
the battle system's very engaging and cool
Okay.
Doesn't always hit.
But like, I think overall 13 is in the overhated category more than anything.
But if you're appealed to lightning, I think there might be something there for you.
But the hard thing is the Final Fantasy 10-2 conundrum.
Do you play or do you not?
You know, because I feel like it's the type of thing where you don't want to spoil the experience for you.
And I don't want anyone to spoil it for you either.
It's not 10.
It's simply not 10.
But I love Spice Girls.
I love the girl band.
I mean, yeah.
girls fighting together, right?
Maybe, I don't know, maybe a little bit more
of this, like, here's what I want from it, right?
Yeah. I love the girls
getting together, going out there and fighting, right?
I want little pieces of story, right?
Maybe we find Titus's bracelet somewhere, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Maybe Lulu makes an appearance.
Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe,
maybe Walker's there.
I don't know, I don't know.
What I'll say is 10 is a perfect, perfect end.
You could just move on with your life and have it in the way you want.
That's wild, really, okay.
But 10, too, it's like, if you, if you, if you want,
want more. It gives you more. I love the battle system. I don't think the game is perfect by any
means. They make some pretty wild story choices. And I think they stretch some things in ways that
are like, I guess that works within the world, but I'm not quite sure. And I think the biggest
problem is you need to do a lot, if not all, of the side stuff to get good ending. And like
Tim, take me back. You finish 10. They announced 10 to. Because I know you've been into this
and you track stuff like that.
What was your initial thought and feeling?
Were you okay with this?
Did you want something different like
Abrasca and Orange story?
Like what was the general reaction to 10-2
when the first reveal into, of course, as you said, the game?
Well, I've told the story many times on shows,
but I don't think it's ever been more appropriate to say than right now.
Fallen Fantasy 10 changed my life in terms of how much I care about video games,
RPGs, Final Fantasy, the series, all this stuff.
But like, Final Fantasy 10 is a game.
think about in some way, like, often, like almost weekly.
You know what I mean?
Something will happen.
Yeah, yeah.
And because of that, when they announced 10-2, it was going to be the first sequel in
Final Fantasy history.
I was so excited that my Final Fantasy was going to get the sequel and I was so stoked.
This must have been, what, 2003 or so?
I didn't have a computer at home.
Okay.
So at school, in middle school, there was like the shitty little computer lab.
And I remember sneaking in because we weren't allowed to do this.
and at whatever, I think it was TGS or something,
they put out the first trailer.
But this back in the day,
I'm looking at video game magazines.
I saw two screenshots of Final Fantasy 10.
That's it.
Okay.
And they weren't even like that enticing.
It was just like, oh, here's just an area.
Like, we didn't even get reveals of exactly what was going on.
Okay.
This trailer comes out.
I'm reading about it.
They're giving me the breakdown.
I need to fucking see this shit.
I found some like a legal ass way to download it.
Downloaded the trailer.
It took three days for it to finally get there.
I could click play on this thing.
It was porn.
Oh it was Final Fantasy porn
Okay
And it was like someone dressed as Riku
Barely
They're dressed for a while
And then they weren't
That's how porn works
And there was just so much of that
Mosaic blur going on
And I was like
This is a problem
Like this is very unfortunate
I then tried again
And I got the right trailer
And I saw it changed my life
Because it was 2003
Charlie's Angels
Full throttle popping off all right
Shit I was all about this shit
I love the spice girls
I love girl power
I'm all in.
Riku was like one of my faves for Fahomasty Tensel.
So getting more of her.
She's a lead in this one.
Let's fucking go, dude.
Yuna having the guns now.
The Summiner is now like, she's a batty with guns, dude.
I was all about it.
I was obsessed with Tensu.
Obsessed.
Lead into that could not have been more excited for a game at that point.
No shit.
Oh yeah.
Jazzed up.
So fucking jazzed.
And then it came out and I was so into it and I loved it.
And to the day, I love it.
But it's not the things that you love.
the most about 10, I think you're going to let you down in 102.
Having said that, there were many moments that I'm like, I think 102 is absolutely worth it.
If you're on this high, just think of it as a alternate universe.
Like, if you want more, here's more.
But something might upset you.
I'll say that.
I always say this to people.
Death note is one of, if not my favorite anime, right?
There's a moment that happens, I think, in like episode 26.
To me, I'm like, that's the end of the show.
Oh, the show ends there.
there's 11 more episodes after that
and I really like those 11 episodes
I'd recommend anyone that watches Death Note
to watch all of them
but just think of it as like an alternate ending
you know what I mean? Don't think of it.
Okay, okay, okay. Anyway, I want to get to some super chats
before we get out of here. We'll let lightning run
these okay, let's hit some of them, yeah.
AA says Mike did you watch the post credit scene, your stream cut off right
when the credits were right. I did, I did, I re-recorded it,
I should have put it up, but I did and of course that's where
in my mind, he hears the whistle.
Yes, yes. Beautiful.
Bobby Joe says Mike, I really enjoyed your play-through.
Loved watching the whole journey.
Have you thought about playing the sequel?
Thank you, Bobby Joe.
Yes.
I will take some time away.
Maybe a month or two.
Not too much time, though.
Because they do follow up on a lot.
Oh, really?
Oh, yeah.
Okay.
I'll probably play it sooner than later then.
But right now, like I said, I'm playing devil may cry.
I'm getting lost.
I'm going to learn how to type, Tim.
As you know, in middle school, we had the opportunity to go out to typing class.
But I would go to speech therapy because I couldn't say my R's, right?
And so I never got to learn how to type.
And to this day, as you see me on my desk,
I type with one fingers like this, I pick.
I'm the exact same story.
I didn't realize that about you.
I have downloaded typing of the dead, which is the fun typing game.
And I'm going to learn how to type.
So I got some things you before that.
You're a special boy, Mike.
I love it.
I'm going to learn.
I'm going to learn.
That's fantastic.
And then we have a guitar hero, A, saying,
I got my wisdom teeth out today and my face feels like Ereth at the end of
Disc 1.
But thanks kind of funny for keeping the hype through the recovery.
P.S. Obligatory, Tetus, laugh, comment.
in context.
It's powerful stuff.
I don't know what to say.
If you understand and you get it,
it's awesome.
It's awesome.
Mark says,
glad we love the game.
Mike,
10 was my entry to Final Fantasy
will always be special.
Can we get a Tetus laugh from you
and Tim for the end of the journey?
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
got it so good, Tim.
It's so good, everyone.
When they join together,
it's even better.
CJ splits on Mike,
what Final Fantasy is next?
9, 12, 15.
I think you got to do 10,
10-2 for sure 10-2 is a guarantee i will at least i'm going to give it the good college try yeah but what is next i bet you it's probably 13 15 with the boy band i'm interested in and maybe eight or nine eight or nine i don't know which one i can't remember but i have some options if i'll throw a dart and try it i love it's tofer 9000 says my you you're having to hit combo zombie strike plus life oh come on what a crazy situation what a wild one uh and then final thing here from tofer
saying X2 has three endings, the bad, the good, and the perfect.
The good ending's easy to get, gives you what you want.
You need 100% on all the sides to get the perfect ending.
Okay.
So, yeah.
Obviously, you'll have the guardians out there help me through it all.
There's one thing I'll say, and I want to tell everyone in the chat right now,
I'm going to hold you to this shit because if you fuck me on this, I'm going to be really
upset.
No matter what happens, no matter what happens.
This man beats 10-2, doesn't beat 10-2.
I'm not so sure.
There's two things I need from you.
One, when he gets to the thousand words scene, I need you to text me, figure it out.
I need to watch that shit long.
I love that stuff.
Two, he beats this game.
You do not tell him what happens in the freaking post dumbass novel, whatever the fuck thing, the play.
I don't even remember what the hell it was.
We do not talk about that in this house.
That did not happen.
And it never will happen.
Okay.
Okay.
Damn.
It's exciting.
Chad agrees with me.
I appreciate this.
Thank you.
No more. We don't do that part three bullshit.
We just don't do it.
The audio drama.
We don't do it.
The audio drama is crazy.
It's crazy.
It'll upset him.
What a game.
What a game.
Let us know in the comments below what you think of Final Fantasy 10 and how excited you are to see Mike give 10 to a shot at some point.
He has many things to do.
He has demons to hunt.
I got it.
Devil made cry.
This game is nuts, Tim.
Thank you to everybody that came on this journey with me.
Thank you to Tim and the kind of funny crew.
And most importantly, our audience.
who allowed me to take over a kind of funny games cast,
fill in a day and take over and just kind of talk about Final Fantasy.
What a great time.
Fell in love with it.
I'm so happy to see a lot of the characters grow.
I wish I fell in love more with Ricky, aka Riku.
I just did not make that connection like I needed to.
Like I liked the off-camera stuff, but fighting, I never got on there with.
Not my jam.
Walk a way to grow.
You know what I mean?
Still mad at you,
but I'm happy that you grew and got outside of the island,
and he needed that.
He did.
And that's it.
That's it.
Great time.
Yep.
Until next time, everyone.
Love you all.
Goodbye.
