Welcome in to an episode of Gamescast Plays, where it's kind of like the only let's play you could really really. listen to us a podcast. It's very
Starting point is 00:01:07 editorial. We're professionals on the microphone. Such professionals. And I'm sitting here. Weird. What was that? The timing. Absolutely nuts. What was that? I have no idea. Something. Oh, you know what it is? Andy? It was the didgeridoo for Friday. Professionals
Starting point is 00:01:27 and a didgeridoo fell down in the set. Welcome in to this very professional episode of Games Castles. where Roger Percorni has had the most amount of time all the time in the world needed to review a console. We didn't get a review copy, unfortunately.
Starting point is 00:01:46 We're not cool like that. But shout out to VAL for sending us, you know, an actual piece of hardware. I mean, I guess it's technically review. Yeah, but we didn't get like the... The SuperRuble. We didn't get it like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Like, that's a different level. We're not on that level yet. Yeah, for sure. I think we made those connections when we got the Steam controller. Yes. Hopefully we can get to that level one day. But we did get early access to a piece of hardware, the steam machine.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Got it yesterday. We also made the mistake of not unboxing it. Yeah, me and Andy looked at each other with small kids. Like, getting all Christmas came early. Oh my gosh, open it up. And it was great because, like, as you're opening up, I had the thought. And I was like, fuck it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I got to be honest. I was so excited. I was so excited. I was like, it doesn't matter. Super, super pump. So, Roger, you were able to take the steam machine home last night. And we were all kind of able to, you know, mess around with it yesterday throughout the day, not in a very serious way, but, you know, kind of getting in the gears and all the settings and things like that. And so you were able to take it home last night.
Starting point is 00:02:48 You mess around with it for a bit. Not a whole lot because you got a personal life you got to deal with, right? You know, just dealing with getting married. You know, this guy's getting married soon. So I want you to show me, Roger. Other side, okay. I want you to show me why this thing is. worth a dang or whether it's not worth
Starting point is 00:03:05 a dang. Yeah, I don't know. Dang. Dang, yeah. Is that what they say $1,000? Well, it's because no sponsors. Like, we're sponsored. We can say bad words. Oh, yeah, high on life, too. No curse words. It's true. No curse words whatsoever. Yeah, man, this has been a weird one for me because I have been the person
Starting point is 00:03:23 in the office that has been like tweeting about, talking about it. The steam machine could save me. It could change my life is what I kept on feeling for years. Not years, months. I'm right there with you, but. I felt like this thing could solve a big issue in my gaming situation right now. Because when I was younger, I was, yeah, of course you can play around with it.
Starting point is 00:03:42 I was obsessed with playing games on my PC at my, you know, little monitor when I had a small little room living with my parents. Like, gaming was preferably being on a PC on a monitor. But as I've gotten older, as I moved to my own apartment, I am exclusively a gamer on a gamer on. the living room. And I haven't been able to really get back into my gaming, PC gaming flow as much, because you know, PC gaming in the living room isn't
Starting point is 00:04:13 that great. But in your mind, you go pair this with the steam deck experience. Wow, we're cooking here. Exactly, right? So when it came to the steam deck, I got it immediately right as soon as I can get it. I was obsessed. I loved it. And over the last few years, I start to fall, not out of love
Starting point is 00:04:29 with it, but it's just a little bit older, right? Like a little bit heavier. I don't have the OLED version. Anytime I play a game and I'm like, you know, it doesn't run awesome, of course. Yeah. And then I hear Greg, which is, you know, always take with a grain of salt whether Greg says something runs well. It's like, he thought Jedi Survivor was amazing. It's like when my mom would look at our 4K TVs back in there. It'd be like, yeah, it looks the same.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Like, no, it doesn't. No, no, no. But you hear Mike and Greg talk about, well, I mean, it actually looks and runs really great on my machine. I'm like, yeah, well, you do have faster power machines, and I don't have that, right? Yeah, exactly. So I like my Steam deck, but I've been trying to, you know, have that as a doctor. experience didn't really work out as well, right? Game starts stuttering. It doesn't look great on 4K. It's not built for that. I recently have the ROG ally. That's been really great docked,
Starting point is 00:05:11 but still, looking for that at-home PC console-like experience. And I've got to be honest, like just playing with this thing, especially after the whole memory loss situation that we're in right now, how expensive RAM is, how this thing is $1,000, over $1,000 actually. It's devastating. Without a controller even. Just kind of a sad experience playing around with this. Not because it's bad, right? I think this is a fine piece of hardware. I think this is like something that is totally serviceable for the
Starting point is 00:05:39 super entry level, someone that really does not want to deal with having to build a computer has no kind of history in, you know, hardcore PC gaming like that, but it's more of just what the situation is right now when it comes to it at all. And the price point.
Starting point is 00:05:55 And let me just sum it up really quick right now, right? Is that hit me with it. The with the Steam deck, right? When you picked up that Steamback for the first time, tinkering with all the games was such a joy, not because it could get to that 4K, it can get to these insane frame rates,
Starting point is 00:06:12 just because getting a game to run at all, was, I got cyberpunk to run on a steam deck. Crazy. How fucking crazy is that? With this, it is the opposite experience, where you're booting up games, they don't look great, you go to the settings, and you're like, well, this is a
Starting point is 00:06:27 $1,000 console, it says 4K on their website. I should be able to try to get to 4K, right? It doesn't really get to 4K the way I wanted to. Okay, well, now I'm in the settings trying to figure out how to get to 60 FPS. Oof, now it doesn't look good. Okay, well, now if I drop it down,
Starting point is 00:06:41 ooh, now I have to go out to medium? This is a $1,000 console. Why don't we have to go from high to medium? That feels like not great. Okay, well, this... Now I'm fiddling. Yeah, now I'm not playing the game, right? Which is why I didn't want to get one of these.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Exactly. You get one to not fiddle. Exactly. Suddenly, you're fiddling. Exactly. And especially, this is a review unit. Right? Like, this is a review unit.
Starting point is 00:07:00 This is early on in the process. I'm sure, we know, we know that they're going to, sorry, I thought I'm going to, sorry, I thought I'm sorry, the, the, the, the, I, you know that Steam is so great when it comes to updates and making sure that things run better, and I am just really, just from a baseline, skeptical of the adoption rate of this, because it's so expensive, and also the adoption rate, therefore, of the developers, right? Like, are the developers going to put the time and effort to do a cyberpunk where cyberpunk literally has a Steam deck preset? I don't think so. I don't think we're going to get that for the wide variety of games having a Steam machine. machine presets. And I think I'm just a little bit sad about that. You don't think, you know, developers that may be, I'd say right now, as we keep on chatting, I love with this conversation. I would love for you to boot up Forte O'Riving 6th. This is the biggest, this is the biggest one that's kind of making a lot of waves on the internet, because that video with Linus Tech Tips, he's looking at it and going 15 frames per second.
Starting point is 00:07:53 That was not our experience yesterday. Not at all. No. Not at all. No. So I don't know what was happening maybe configuration-wise on his machine or maybe he was trying to get 4K native or something? Yeah. Which I could certainly understand, only getting 15 frames per second because we had a lot of experiences yesterday, trying to run something at 4K native and
Starting point is 00:08:12 getting 22 frames per second. Getting, you know, 31 frames per second or whatever. Yeah, the thing with the steam machine is, like you mentioned, supposed to sort of change our life and how we interact with
Starting point is 00:08:29 games, right? Yeah. It removed steps for somebody who's got the money to want those steps removed. Yeah. The steps for me would be not only do my, can a lot of my games run on this machine, but I don't have to do the Steam Deck dock into the TV. And in that case, Tim goes, well, why don't you just plug in your PC into the TV? And that's, like, I know, look, I know I can be very hyperbolic when I talk about you know, settings and, you know, I may see stuff that you go, Andy, it looks fine, don't worry about it. There's nothing more
Starting point is 00:09:07 annoying to me than plugging in a desktop PC into a TV. Yep. And having a deal with the monitor stuff and switching over to the keyboard, to the mouse, the deal of the thing. And looking at my, and why is it not shown? Okay, I got to, like, that is,
Starting point is 00:09:22 that is enough of an experience. That is enough, that is annoying enough an experience to make me go, I want to pay the premium amount to not have to deal with that. Sure. And this is going to be a very niche product. Yep.
Starting point is 00:09:37 This is not for everybody's, you know, current buying situation. This is not going to flow to everyone's boat. Oh. You never seen this? You thought the car would blow up? I knew it. I knew you thought that.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I knew you thought that. It's a level of this game I played. But the, you know, I think when we played this outside, we played four to ride and six outside. We're actually pleasantly surprised. by a lot of the experience. Yeah, because I actually recently, I booted up Fort's a Horizon on the ROG ally,
Starting point is 00:10:05 and that ran fine. Of course, I mean, it's RG Ally, right? I'm not trying to compare these two necessarily, but that took a lot more tinkering. This is right now, let's actually look at this thing before we, ooh, now it's dropping, but let's see what we're at right now. I think it might have reset what we were doing here, yeah. So let's see what settings were at.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Now here's where the annoyance has come in. This is where I start becoming much less of a defender of this for the casual market. Not for me. I'm a tinkerer. I don't mind tinkering. I love tinkering. The ease of use comes from,
Starting point is 00:10:41 I turn on my steam controller, bam, my thing's on. That's rock. Let's play the game. You're fine with tinkering. You just don't want to deal with the bullshit to get to the game. With the hardware, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:50 The hardware sort of thing or whatever. And this is where casual market people may go, why am I buying this if I'm still having to do all of the bullshit? when I can play this on console and bam I'm ready to rock. And here we're ready in the situation where we go, ooh, we're not quite getting 60. What can we do to try to get 60? Because my Xbox Series X gets 60.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Yep. My PlayStation 5 running Forth or Horizon 5 gets 60. Yep. Why not this? And this is where you might have to go into, oh, maybe drop that down to low. Maybe get this down to I or whatever. And I don't know, maybe they try to come up with something
Starting point is 00:11:30 that they do with their controller schemes, where Valve says, did you hear me say this? I said the exact same thing to Blessing earlier. That's so funny, yeah, yeah, continue with their thing. Yeah, so, you know, the way Valve works with a lot of their, you know, their very community focus, obviously.
Starting point is 00:11:43 And whenever you have a controller and you're trying to play a game on controller, you could go to community controller schemes where I could put up my controller scheme whenever people ask me when I'm playing a Souls game. Andy, what are you using your back paddles for? I put Dodge on this, I put this on this, and I actually put a tack on left,
Starting point is 00:11:59 on the L1, and I could put up that profile, people could download that. And I think it would be really cool if, in the future, Valve says, what if we could do community settings? Yep. Where Alex Patagli from Digital Foundry goes into the game and sees, here's what we can min-max this. You and I shared the same brain.
Starting point is 00:12:22 I literally said the exact same thing to blessing. Yes, that is what they need, but I think that that is such a big initiative. And it kind of sucks, quote, unquote, that that is where we're at a little bit with this thing, right? Where it's like, again, with the Steam deck, it is so much easier to just get like, okay, well, the game's running, so I'm good. Right. With this, it's like, man, you really have to. Because right now, the biggest thing that I am having issues with is FSR. And I'm happy that it exists.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I'm happy with there's a competitor to DLSS. I'm happy we have Intel, X-E-S-S. But as we just saw, we were at about 55 frames earlier, 54 frames when I was on performance mode, right? I just went to ultra-performance mode, which makes the game, drops the game down to, I don't know what, the- Internal resolution is probably like 680 or 7-20p. And it's a big jump compared to performance to ultra-performance. You'll see a lot of that blurriness and a lot of the artifacting there. But I look at the top. Go to anti-alius and turn on...
Starting point is 00:13:24 I think it turns off the other ones, but we can turn it. try that. So yeah, if you do that, it turns off resolution scaling. Wow. Yeah. Fascinating. So you, I mean, okay, well, that does make sense, but I was just wondering why they were separate things or whatever. I, again, I went from old performance to ultra performance, right? Which seems like a big jump. And we are getting sub-60 still. Like that is the, that is the biggest flaw of this. This is the latest FSR technology. And it, you don't get that big jump like a DLSS where you were able to do the thing, drop the thing, and oh, now I went from, you know, 60 fBS to 120, like pretty much.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Like, you can do those huge jumps without even generating frames necessarily. And even with this, with no frame generation, of course, we're still not at 60. And it's just that is the stuff that kind of, like, makes you a little bit sad, especially when this is $1,000. And this is, they're not going to get another one next year, right? We're not going to get an upgrade kit for this next year. This is going to be the steam machine for,
Starting point is 00:14:23 the next five to six years if they ever make a number one. And I just don't know how I can, again, this is a free flowing conversation, but I don't know how I can recommend this to 99.9% of gamers out there if you can buy a PS5. If you can build your own, which Steam is out here, you know, giving Steam OS for free, where you can, you know, set up a basically, your own team machine, which is great, great, super, I think they understand what this is. I don't think they would have pushed this and said that, hey, we're,
Starting point is 00:14:53 doing this and we're giving it out for free. So like with the release of Steam Machine, if they knew that this was, you know, they know that this is not going to be as good. This is not going to be the answer for most people. I think that honestly, they're just trying to get the stock off of the shelf. Yeah. They're just eventually going to try to hopefully not lose as much money. You know, I promise you, I'm not trying to do the, won't you think of the multi-billion
Starting point is 00:15:17 dollar company, but they, they were put their, you know, their backs were against the wall and they're like, what are we going to do with this? Prices are not going to come down on hardware anytime soon. And if we continue to not put this out, it's going to get more and more outdated. Yeah. I could have recommended this to somebody who says, I'm not a tinkerer. I want an easier experience for the 750 rumored price that they were thinking of. I could have recommended that.
Starting point is 00:15:44 But for a thousand, I just don't think I can do that. No. I saw Zach in the chat saying, did no Roger Mubal like this. I mean, this is like what I do in the private. I love tinkering. Tim and I always connect on just working on some bullshit project. I'm trying to get streaming, working or whatever. Like, this is, honestly, Lanza has to stop me sometimes.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Like, it's a problem where she looks at me, she's like, are you trying to fix something or just play the fucking game? I'm like, yeah, but this isn't the fun. You know what I mean? Like, I look frustrated and I am, but I'm having a lot of fun. Roger, me and my dad take about 40 minutes to start a movie whenever I visit my parents back home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:17 And it's always even worse, my mom's like watching a movie with us because it's like, yeah, They'll be on, yeah, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Make sure the back speakers are louder or whatever. I did see somebody asking for us to show off full ray tracing on Resident Evil Reckley. You fucking wish. You fucking wish.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Yeah. No. We did have a couple of, now, this is still a device that needs more support, I would say. Yes. From not only, you know, Valve trying to nail down exactly what they think should be certain settings or whatever for their video games or for the different games out there. But I would love to see more love from AMD because it really feels like if your game doesn't have the ultra performance mode, that then you may be out of luck for some titles. And again, this is still a piece. It's four.
Starting point is 00:17:23 It is still a computer and it can still be a very mixed bag. There will be some titles that will run fine on balance or performance mode. There will be some titles that will be at sub 60 frames per second on performance mode and then you go to ultra performance and you're at 65 now. Yep. It's like wow, that, I don't know the difference is there, but something's like off here, right? And it does feel like a device that is not going to be the... the problem hassle-free
Starting point is 00:17:56 catch-all solution that we thought of it. Especially for 4K, right? And I saw some people, let me just try to answer some questions. I saw some people asking about Plex and everything. I would, this is not worth it. I mean, like, I'm sure you can figure out Plex and figure out how to make this your home media server and do all that jazz, but like you can get a MacBook mini
Starting point is 00:18:13 and do that, which is what I do. I just have a MacBook mini that runs Plex that does my whole home theater, home video streaming setup at home. But to go over here, I saw people talking about 1440. This is 1440P now. And I think that this is the better pitch for this console.
Starting point is 00:18:28 And I do wish that they focused on this in the marketing. I understand 4K is the big buzzword. Which is how this series S was kind of pitching itself as like, we could be the 1440P machine. Which it isn't. It's a 1080 machine. But this could be the 1440P machine because, yeah, 78, 82 frames per second, of course, was dropping down when you were going crazy.
Starting point is 00:18:48 I think this game also in general doesn't have great Linux legs. It's not really the most consistent players. We've seen this with a lot of games. Like I was playing, we could boot it up later, but I have a Lego Batman on here in this game. That game runs like shit on PC in general, but I think specifically Linux. But yeah, 1440P looks good.
Starting point is 00:19:06 What FSR are you on right now? This is ultra performance. So let's drop it down. I do think it will still be around here just because of the thing, but let's see. But, you know, I would love to see balanced because typically when you have a, See, it feels like there's no change in FPS.
Starting point is 00:19:24 You know what I mean? Like it is... But visually, much cleaner. Oh, of course. I can see that immediately. Yeah. And that could be the solution because, granted, you know, I love 4K. I love sitting right in front of my 32-inch 4K monitor.
Starting point is 00:19:38 When I'm sitting 8, 10 feet away from a TV, I'm definitely tougher to decipher 4K from 1440. Yes. And again, this all sounds like I'm a hardcore depending on. machine. I just, for the thousand dollars, it really does feel like we got to, we got to put the sucker out there. Yeah. Um, because this whole, you know, let's put out Steam OS for a lot of people. That excites me a lot. But I'm in a very privileged position where I hear that SteamOS thing and I think to myself, well, I have extra parts and I can do this. Well, it's also, it's a pain in the ass to play games out in the studio. Yeah. What if we could make our own Steam OS device? Oh, that's my dream.
Starting point is 00:20:20 the leftover 40-70 that we have, or leftover 30-90 or whatever, or 40, or whatever the hell. We have like, you know, leftover parts we could frank and sign together to make our own Steam OS that would be more powerfulness. Granted, wouldn't be the form factor.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Because that is one really attractive thing about this device. Even the smallest of mini ITX cases, you're not going to get to this size. It is a beautiful, small... Silent. So quiet. Yeah, I was playing it last night.
Starting point is 00:20:50 I had it in a, I wouldn't say cramped, but I have a semi, you know, cramped situation at home when it comes. I have, like, my Apple TV on top of it. I have, like, a fucking switch right next to it. It completely silent the entire time. It felt like it was getting a lot of airflow, fans out the wazoo. This is a beautifully designed piece of hardware. And, yeah, it's, I love everything about it. I love the look of it.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I just, it is just, you can't upgrade it. You can't upgrade it. And for what it is, I just don't necessarily believe we're going to get to the level of the steam. deck of having all these upgrades. But this runs fine. I think Forrest is actually one of the ones that, again, not 4K, but you can make it run at 60 FPS. If you wanted to go low, I'm sure you can get it at 4K.
Starting point is 00:21:32 But again, it doesn't feel good to press the low button on a piece of hardware this expensive. Right. Let's check out another title. Somebody was mentioning Resident Evil Requiem. Yeah. Which is a title that I don't know the full specs on, but I know on PlayStation 5 Pro, very impressive. Yeah, and this is one, we have a PlayStation 5, I think, regular,
Starting point is 00:21:54 that we can switch in between once we show it off on Steam Deck, steam machine rather, and then we can boot it up on PS5 and kind of see where it's at right there, so you can get the comparison. Is the... I was wondering if I could... If you can see it? No, no. PSF. Oh, you can.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Yeah. Oh, no, you can. No. Wait, what? Oh, maybe you can. You can see it all the way over there. Oh, there it is. Okay, yeah, that's perfect, actually.
Starting point is 00:22:19 That's perfect. Let's see if you can do it. I can just make that bigger, actually. Where is this sucker? It's probably in the library. No, I can go do it. You go all the way to the right, go to the library. All the way to the right.
Starting point is 00:22:42 All right to the right. All right. Let's boot it up right now. It may not be installed. It isn't? No, I see first light. Syracup, that's on me. That's all good.
Starting point is 00:22:59 I guess I didn't. We might be able to download that. Yeah, we could try it out. Yeah, but this is it right now, right out the box. Let's see what settings we have before we continue to look through it. We are on image quality, 1440p, I mean, sorry, 4K. Frame rate is up to 120, and then we have custom graphics stuff. Can we change that?
Starting point is 00:23:24 We know that hair strands is on. We can't do that unless we're out of the media. But here's normal textures. Yeah. Uh, ba-ba-ba-ba, low subsurface scattering. FSR upscaling technology, ultra-performance. No frame generation on. Ooh, is this, did this get updated?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Because I could have sworn that it was limited to FSR 3.5. Oh, maybe. Ooh, okay. I wonder if this got an update recently. Maybe I'm tripping. But I could have sworn it was 3.5 yesterday. So let's do without frame generation. Then we'll turn on some frame generation.
Starting point is 00:23:55 I'm not, let's talk about really quick. I'm not one of those people that is anti-frame generation. I don't see it necessarily as fake frames. I do think it gets some wonkiness with very fast-paced video games. Oof, what the fuck? Like a spot...
Starting point is 00:24:10 Oh, you know what? Our shit does that. It just flickers, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that happened a lot during our marathon stream. Oof. Rough. Yeah, a little bit of rough, a little rough there. But it is... I think it's fine, it's serviceable.
Starting point is 00:24:23 I mean, again, you're going to get to 60 FPS. But, again, this game is on... It's also on Switch. You know what I mean? Like, it's also on different... Different consoles that are... I mean, we're not getting to 60, though. No, I mean, you could get to succeed, what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Like, you know what I mean? Like, you have that option to do the thing. Tim had mentioned that it seems like the hair strands are what really can take performance. So if you quit out and turn off the hair strands and go to normal hair... Yeah. Because it's not something you could change right here, unfortunately. Gotcha. It's something you'd have to back out into...
Starting point is 00:24:52 Yeah, and then we have shadow, context, VFO. Okay. So about normal, about regular to low. This is with frame generation. to 80, 82. Yeah, it's a fine. It's fine. Yeah, I think image quality
Starting point is 00:25:07 looks good here with whatever FSR is doing. You know, you could definitely point out the noise and be ultra-nit-picky if you want to, but I think it looks pretty darn good. I would like to see the validity of these
Starting point is 00:25:23 hair strand claims. Can you put out to the menu? Sure. While you do that, let me see if I can. Let's switch out. You do that, and I try I try it down low. I try now. You got good vision, man. I see it. I fucking got it. Oh my god, you nailed that, is it? We're so far away. Imagine if Mike uses glasses,
Starting point is 00:25:45 you'd be able to see and differentiate yellow bell peppers from tortilla the big dogs were eaten. Big dogs are eaten. Uh, let's see here. Alright, it's downloading right now, so we'll see, I don't even know how the fuck I'll know when that's on Boop's on Boop's like. We're on Tyler mode. Easy, we're going in there.
Starting point is 00:26:04 We're trying to get the hair physics to get up here. Yeah, we're turning the hair physics off from Nvidia hair, which. Oh, it was on. It was on. Oh, okay, gotcha. The PS5 Pro uses it. The PS5 and the Switch and the Xbox do not.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Yeah. I believe that's what it is. When we did our full play. What's up? I don't know how that works. I have no idea. How long to ready to play? Six minutes, okay.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Yeah, we can, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, what, play Robert for six minutes. We'll see what it goes. Maybe it boots you into the first, or it might just do it. Actually, he might do the thing where you're like, you can't even fucking play it. Yeah. We'll see now. How many frames if everything on max? We tried that with cyberpunk, which you'll see in a little bit. And that was tough on everything. This is with FSR still on though. Without those hair strands, a little tough. Yeah, the hair definitely gets a bit noisier for sure. Yeah. Now, we could swap off ultra performance. and see what that does. And again, we're doing all this. It's like, well, you're tinkering an awful lot. Yeah. And it's something I'd mind, but I know that people who were more interested in this were like, I don't like fucking around with all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Yeah, and that's the thing. Again, as I told you about now everyone knows that I'm a tinkerer, right? My shame. That's how much... Be shamed about it. I mean, you know, I might be ashamed of it a little bit. I think. The head phase, man, is a little bit weird.
Starting point is 00:27:38 Yeah, it's a lot of the last. lighting. I'm so used to seeing Grace with full-ass path tracing. Yeah. And granted, totally different. I'm not saying that these should be comfortable. I'm talking about a $2,500 machine when I played back home or when we played here, whatever, with the 50-90. That's obviously a very different situation. Yeah, and I'm sorry. What I was saying is that like I love tinkering when it feels, when it feels good, when it feels right, like this does not, this was not a positive tinkering experience. It felt like was frustrated at the hardware, and it felt like I was budding up against things that I can't
Starting point is 00:28:14 change, right? With, like, tinkering on my home computer, it's like, well, I know what this is, right? I know I can get, I know I can do this frame. What is wrong here? How can I fix it? There's just like this level of like, you can't. Like, this is a mobile APU from 2023 that is semi-custom with one stick of RAM that's 16 gigabytes. It is DDR5. Two slots, though. Two slots. You can add one if you want to. And I think that could help a lot. Yeah. You just have to spend $900 for a 16 gig. Yeah. Stick a RAM.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Exactly. And then you are left with the moment of like, okay, well, again, I'm playing a game that I could be playing on another console, another PC at a way better frame rate and for way less money. So I struggle to find the fun in the tinkering as somebody that loves tinkering. And that is a lot to say for me. Because, again, I'm the guy that's over here like, okay, well, I'm going to. to, you know, I want every PS2 game. I'm going to download every, I'm going to do the whole thing. I'm going to legally take all my PS2 things, put them in there, you know, download them all.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And I'm going to also get custom, you know, images for everything. And then I never play the games. And that's what I love to do. So. I think it looks really solid in first person. It does. It does. When you remove the hair and the face thing. But this is also, like, a really well-optimized video game, which is not to take away from it, right?
Starting point is 00:29:36 But this is, you know, Capcom is really good about. that of scaling specifically this game up to the switch from the switch to all the way up to a PS5 pro so I'm legitimately looking at my own and by the way chat when I was asking could I make my own machine with Steam OS I knew the answer was yes by the way like yeah I saw a lot of people going yes you can do that I mean no I knew the answer was yes it was more of like should we do that for our yeah yeah yeah because a lot of times whenever we want to demo PC games it's such a paint a, like, how are we going to, what machine
Starting point is 00:30:09 you're going to use? Is that powerful enough out there? You know, like, it's always odd. Uncle Death says PC also doesn't require as much tinkering as people make it seem, though. I disagree. I disagree. I disagree. Well, yes, because I'm a tinkerer. Yeah, yeah, exactly. But, like, again, even with this, right,
Starting point is 00:30:25 even with the steam machine, there are so many moments where I'm booting up a game and it's like, why doesn't this work right? Like, and I think that, again, a lot of this is early days, review unit, yada, yada, but like, I boot up cyberpunk, And it just automatically is putting me into the 720P or 800-whatever P, Steam Deck version of it, because it utilizes, it sees what the thing is.
Starting point is 00:30:49 There's another indie game we can't talk about that. Yes. It was also doing that. Well, yeah, that one just, like, literally locked me out and just made me, like, only do 720P, which is weird. Just a lot of that, like... And this looks good, right here. Yeah, the cutscenes look good. This looks great.
Starting point is 00:31:02 But, like, just a lot of fighting against the thing. Like, I just want to turn on my thing and have it just work on a base level, and then I can make it better if I want to. And it's just not broken, but it's like 720P, wrong resolution. Why is that not working? Why is this not working?
Starting point is 00:31:19 Not as plug and play as you would hope. No, yeah. So that's why I can't recommend it to the people that are, hey, I want to be, I want to get into PC gaming, but I don't like the fucking tinkering. Well, you have to tinker with this one. Not to the same degree, but you have to tinker still. When we first booted up Force Horizon 6 yesterday,
Starting point is 00:31:35 today. I'll tell you exactly what happened. But first, I want you all to know that if you support us on Patreon, you not only support a company from not dying, because it's happening a lot these days. It is happening a lot. And if you don't pay for the things you love, they'll eventually go away. And if you're listening to this right now, we would love your support on Patreon, podcast services, all that jazz. But if you're watching this live right now, here's a word from our sponsors. This episode is brought to you by High on Life 2. Just four months after the February release of High on Life 2, the Squatch Games team is back with the kind of funny crew. Last time the dev stopped by, the game hadn't been released, which forced them into a very painful, agonizing, secrecy.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Today, though, the NDAs are off, and they can pretty much say whatever they want without getting yelled at. Mostly, they really want to talk about the following, though. A demo is now available for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC as of this week. Also, High on Life 2 is on sale for the first time as part of Steam Summer. sale, which kicks off June 25th. High on Life 2 hits Nintendo Switch 2 on July 1st. Those are in no particular order of importance to us, but for those of you listening, feel free to rank them yourselves and argue about them in the comments.

See website for more details. You guys right now. But first I wanted to bring up how, again, talking about how this thing is not necessarily the most plug-in playable. issue hassle-free, as you would hope. When we booted up for its horizon 6 yesterday, it was locked at 1080P, and we had to go into the Steam settings to say,
Starting point is 00:34:26 we want to force you to run at 4K, because, you know, we were stuck at 1080P, and when we'd go into the video game, we couldn't go any more to the right. 1080p was the furthest we could go. So there are little things like that, like Roger was mentioning how we, you know, there's another indie title we can't talk about yet. But that was also, again, that game's not out yet.
Starting point is 00:34:51 There's going to be issues with that. That happens a lot with games that are not out yet because they're not fully fixed and ready to rock. But that one was also locking out to 720p. And I first see that happening a decent amount. Yeah, I don't know. I think there's a difference when the Steam Deck comes out and is such a massive hit. Yeah. within the gaming community, again, it's not this device that
Starting point is 00:35:15 that set the world on fire in terms of like worldwide everybody's buying its sales, but it was so massive within the game development community that they wanted to support the thing that they use. So you saw a lot of games kind of immediately, you would open it up and be like, oh shit, this works on Steam Deck settings or whatever, and I don't know if this is going to quite be that way because I don't see a whole lot of the of the gaming development community
Starting point is 00:35:43 going, I want to spend $1,000 on this thing that I don't really think is worth it. And I think Steam and Valve know this because if you notice a lot of games are Steam Machine verified, they're just Steam Deck verified. That's what they've done here, is that they've expanded the Steam Deck verification.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Ooh, this is not the beginning of the game. Should I just start a new game? Yeah, no, you're in the Prolog, so I can start a new game. Oh, this is the Prolop. Wait, what? Where are we? I just saw Grace's mom. Oh, okay, guys.
Starting point is 00:36:10 Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Oh, it's like the demo area? That's weird. Oh, I guess Greg has played this game before, so I guess they just, that's weird. I don't know what's going on. Did you hit New Game? Yeah, I know, I guess I didn't.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I can't read any of it. I guess, is this new game? No, if you go to the top thing where it says main story there, new game is a very, very bottom. Very bottom? Yeah. Oh, we should have started at the same time.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Fuck. What's up, Kevin? Oh, sorry, I was just gonna read you the button. Oh, okay. You want to restart or wrong? No, I'll just pause. You keep going, and I'll unpause. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:47 When I get there, Rod. Man's walking in front. I'll try to unpause at the right time. No, right. Right. Here. Oh, shit. That was lit.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Pretty. Yeah, now we're going to switch between it. Yeah, I guess there's no good way to explain which one's the steam machine. You can mark it. Perfect. I love that. And you should also be able to see, like, the settings up. Oh, yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:37:18 If you see the settings at the top, then that's a Steam Machine. Pretty damn close. I think I went a little bit too late, so mine's a little bit ahead. You fucked up really bad, Andy. You should be embarrassed. It's a rhythm game guy. Were you a rhythm game guy? Are you a rhythm game guy?
Starting point is 00:37:39 A big guitar guy back in. Oh, okay, hell, yeah. You never got to Osu. You seem like an Osu guy. No. But I watched a lot of Overwatch players play Osu. Fuck, yeah. See, the cutscenes look great.
Starting point is 00:37:49 This looks fancy. It's awesome. Yeah, she's such a funny character. I love Grace Ashcroft. She's my goat. What? Great image quality. Again, 45 frames per second, which I believe that the...
Starting point is 00:38:08 They should be in 60, yeah. Roman Power says, not even including the controller is crazy, greedy. And like, that's the interesting thing about this whole thing, is that we're very negative, I'm very negative on just the price to power ratio of this. But I also don't think this is steam or Valve's fault in terms of greed. Like, I think there's a lot of places you can point towards greed in the Valve ecosystem. But for this one, I just can't imagine that they're making any money on this. I really cannot imagine. I think they would have packaged the Steam controller with it if they could make a profit if that was a possibility.
Starting point is 00:38:46 Because none of this screams to me like this is a profit margin for them. What do you think about the... interview where the Valve employee was like, if we didn't accept the RAM deal, they wouldn't talk to us. Oh, I didn't see this. I don't know how true or verified this is, but this was all over, several people talking about this, about if this is true, that's like,
Starting point is 00:39:13 that's a massive issue between like a company saying, you take this price or we're done. Oh, I didn't see this. That's crazy. And that possibly being a thing, Again, these are all like, this is me looking at several tweets about the same thing, but I don't, you know. Yeah. Could have just been, message got, you know, muddled along the way, but I just don't, if any of that has any validity, it's like, that's a big issue.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Yeah, yeah. And Sam Altman needs to be tried for his crimes. Just in general. Just that, yes, 100%. We need these data centers to get Avalanche. Yeah, we got to fucking self. I need cloud and the crew to fucking wreck shop. Because that's insane.
Starting point is 00:40:03 Yeah. If any of that is true. Man, just the amount that AI is ruining our society, and now the gamers, the most important part of society, is really, it says a lot. Really the core of it. It really the core of our society. Man, I thought that guy that pushed her was like going to be a bigger part of this game.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Me too. I was like, this is going to be the guy. This is gonna be the guy right now. And he's gonna look and you go, show me a little grace. Oh, that sounds gross. I meant like, great, you know what I mean? You knocked in her.
Starting point is 00:40:35 That's not really perverted. All right, here we are, this is it. Oh wow, look at us. Look at us. Ready, I'm gonna push forward. We're gonna go on go. Ready, three, two, one, go. Wow.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Wow. I think I'm moving faster on my side than you, for sure. I'm gonna hold a lock into this. So I'm getting 61 frames, but I see a little, you know, some minor frame A lot of, yeah. But I think it looks good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:58 At its core, it looks good. Rogers playing on a core PS5. Core. Kevin, you can even, honestly, what you could do, Kevin? You could do a little half and half. You know what I'm saying? Wow.
Starting point is 00:41:08 You could like. A lot of going on. You could crop one screen over the other. We could look at both images. You can do a Discord call with somebody else. You can figure something else out. It was fun. Oh, should I hit the, no, I didn't hit the guy.
Starting point is 00:41:21 You were way slower than me. Well, I was slowing down. I thought you were. Here, you get to eat. Oh, I get to do the thing that you do. Yeah, hold on. Hold on. You keep going.
Starting point is 00:41:31 Tell me one. I'm gonna unpause at the right moment. It's gonna be crazy. Watch this shit, watch this shit. Fuck, you're crazy. I'm nuts. I'm so sick with it. I'm so sick with it.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Oh, going to photo mode on both, that'd be a good call. PS5 Pro looking like a great deal. It comes to the great deals of the total. 100%. Yeah. Thousand percent. $1,000. Because the pros is 900 now, right?
Starting point is 00:41:59 800, yes. And no, I think it's 8.50, something like that. I think it's 899. Chat, let us know. I'm pretty sure. I know the Galaxy's Xbox is like $1,000. Yeah. Galaxy X-Wi?
Starting point is 00:42:15 The Galaxy Series X, 2 terabyte. It's like $1,000 or something like that. Oh. Sorry, I'm just so close. You're just saying like Samsung was doing that we thought about. 899, 89. Okay, I was wrong. Why else would the FBI be investigating, right?
Starting point is 00:42:31 Are you with me? But one thing really, really nice about console. Yeah. Is you're getting a lot of games that are optimized for one platform. Yes. And for PS5 Pro to then show us the big strides they made with Pisser recently. The PSSR 2 version 2 or whatever. Incredibly impressive shit they're doing there.
Starting point is 00:43:00 Yeah. And it's like, and for $100 less, again, you're getting not the full. library you're getting all right ready three two one go you wait well no because no no no because I was I already moved so I was trying to I was trying to catch it all I see three two one everybody we walk it back we walk it back right all right all you all the way to the back all the way to the back yeah all the way to the back yeah all the way to the back okay that's all two one go beautiful timing PSSR 2 looking great chat and um you know comes with the controller
Starting point is 00:43:37 It does come with the controller. And again, this is, this is such a niche product. And I'm, I think, way more incentivized to try to... Oh, you fuck, I fucking got it. I crouched at the right time. Oh, really? Oh, I stopped for you. My bad.
Starting point is 00:43:54 My bad. Oh, for me, for me. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, the PS5 coming with the controller is a massive W. It's a good controller. It's a great controller. Yeah. Also, a lot of support with the controller on PC as well.
Starting point is 00:44:10 a lot of things that the Steam controller does as well. Gyro, you can get to work on a PC with the PS5 controller. So there is a lot of continuity there. Now, granted, we're looking at, you know, chat, you guys are looking at a compressed image
Starting point is 00:44:26 on a streaming website, you know. It's not going to be completely one for one, but we can maybe try to go into, we can open up photo mode once we kind of get in here. Let's walk up to... I don't know where the fuck I am. It's too dark. Flashlight.
Starting point is 00:44:43 What button? Oh, there's. Oh, that's right. You couldn't even see the prongs. So, looking for so far away. Oh, I'm in the thing. I was like, where am I? Cool, okay.
Starting point is 00:44:58 I'm looking at the door. There is, okay. Which one is that? That's one, what's setting? Sorry. X. Oh, X is important. Square free.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Cool. And hide displays, this one. Select button. I got it, yeah, yeah, perfect. No, that's not working for... Oh, it's starting, there we go. Great matchup by Roger right there. Great matchup by Roger.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Yeah, I don't think I'm looking at the thing with the thing, but it's fine. So, yesterday, when I tried running this game on, like, the most ultra of Mac settings, it was struggling. Yeah. Like, we had a lot of struggles there. and I think a lot of it could just come down to
Starting point is 00:45:48 because I don't think the devices is underpowered as it is. I think it's underpowered for the price. Yes. I think it could run a lot of these things well. It just depends on like any other combination of parts that come out and the game comes out and you're like, why is my PC running
Starting point is 00:46:10 Dragon Zogama 2 so poorly? My PC is fucking crazy and they go, well, you're CPU bound and you're being throttled there and there's always like a million different things that are not working out with each other. I really, really hope that they could get together with
Starting point is 00:46:26 a lot of these game manufacturers and say, how can we make the best out of this? Because we're in a really bad situation. We don't plan on selling a whole lot of these. But the people that are going to buy are going to, we want them to not return it. Yes. Yeah, yeah. I would love if there is
Starting point is 00:46:42 if Steam can use their kind of stature in the video game industry of how important they are a little bit to be like, hey guys, like, we'll give you maybe a little bit of preferential treatment on the front page if you start, if you make a steam machine thing, like we're going to, everyone that has a steam machine
Starting point is 00:46:58 I forgot, I'm still running Resident Evil, I didn't Oh, yeah, yeah, because it's... I was like, why are we chugging? But that's also a thing about the steam machine that I wish what had had a lot more overhead is it does the same thing the Steam Deck does, right? When you are in a video game on the Steam deck and you try to go to the main menu
Starting point is 00:47:14 you try to go to the store, good fucking look. That thing is chugging and it does the same thing here. Why can't I close the game from here? Oh, man, I'll go to Matt. Yeah, it's like, look how much this is chugging right now. Like, you will never get that for a PS5. Like, Xbox sometimes. Sometimes Series S does that.
Starting point is 00:47:30 But it's little things like that to just make the console experience not as good, and this is what this is. It's supposed to be at its heart a console. Let's do Miles Morales really quick. This is one that I've tried last night, had a fantastic time with. Really?
Starting point is 00:47:43 I thought this was awesome. Until a certain moment, which I'll show you, and we can all laugh at. Okay. But I don't have Miles Morales on the thing. But you guys know what Miles Morales looks like. This one was really surprising.
Starting point is 00:47:55 Not really surprising because I know it's a good port because it runs pretty well on Steam DECA, but it looks awesome on Steam Machine. Ooh. You jinxed the shit out of it. Jakes the shit on that one. I mean, you crashed the whole device. Yeah, because this is going to be what happened.
Starting point is 00:48:12 And yeah. There you go. Yeah. There you go. Nice. So that was actually what I was going to show later on is this is what happened to me. What was two versions? Oh, because it's the window.
Starting point is 00:48:24 You've got to close. Now that's two of them. Stupid. The last night I was playing this, had a great time. It worked great. And then I tried the ray tracing mode. I got up to high. I got FSR on.
Starting point is 00:48:37 It was 70 FPS. It's like got a little bit of overhead. Damn. And there is like ray tracing cores in this. Not many. but just enough. So I was like, let me try it on, put it on a little bit, just to see what happens.
Starting point is 00:48:47 Hard crash that screen, Ray tracing can't use it, doesn't work with AMD, whatever the fuck they were saying. And it was just like, that was pretty disappointing of like, oh, man, I could, I turn on a, it was like Gollum. Where I turned on the hair physics for Gollum and the PS5, it was hair, it was just hard crash.
Starting point is 00:49:02 So I guess this is not working anymore. Yeah, the game is broken. I take it back. The game crashed once last night, and that was forever broken. Did you hallucinate things? Up with the butt. Yeah, so we had that.
Starting point is 00:49:14 Yeah, we can try to start both for sure. Let's start, but, oh, update. Maybe that's for Steve. Maybe that's Steve. Maybe, maybe. Maybe. Maybe, maybe. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Maybe. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see. Let's see what happened. We did try to turn on ray tracing on this yesterday. And the image looked great. And we could see the image super great because it was frozen on one single shot. And it looked awesome, but it was done.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Whenever I was trying to, and this is a. This is not a console thing either. No. For people that want ease of use, whenever you open up SaurPut, you're going to launch into the red launcher. Yep. And then now you have to press the thing and then do the thing, yep. And that's just kind of a little annoyance as well. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:59 But I think a lot of, I was expecting a lot of the PlayStation games that have issues with the PlayStation launcher. Yeah. Wanting to launch. Adam the One. I don't know if that's a reference to the Tim and Mike Xbox. sign debacle, but they said, this is like $500, $500 cool, not $1,000 cool. And that's the best way to describe it.
Starting point is 00:50:19 It's like Mike's, like Mike's, uh, big sign. Mike buys a $1,500 fucking Xbox sign. That's about $300, $400. Cool. I don't know about $1,500. I don't know about $1,500. I was talking about the steam machine there. Yeah. His sign, he should have never bought it.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Even it was free. 100%. Um, did you find any decent sort of, you know, you're playing with, we got ray tracing low, set to low. Yeah, well, we had Super Resolution 2.1. That's not what we're looking for, right?
Starting point is 00:50:47 Let's change that up a little bit. Three, we're looking for FSR, right? Yeah, FSR. Oh, that is Super Resolution, got you. I guess I never really thought what FSAR did. That's a separate thing out there. Sharpness goes down. Yep.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Yeah, let me see if I can get Sarapunk on. Local shadows. I mean, I wouldn't even try to turn on path tracing. That would be an insanity. Do you do it? Can you do a favorite? Can you tell me what this is saying? PlayStation.
Starting point is 00:51:33 What is that saying? Yeah. It shows it on the main menu. Why would I have known that? Whatever. We have it on the Steam machine. You know what Steve, fuck it in this looks. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:51:48 We're going to have fun with it. Yeah, this is Tinker City. Why? Okay, I guess we're good. Different games. Different games. Yeah, yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Yeah, we're going to boot it up right now. this is early on in the game. Good morning night city. You hear that fucking thing real time. Christopher says I used G-Force Now for three years and Andy has definitely used it during streams. It's a great service if not pricey. It is.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Yeah. Yeah. Geforce Now is really fucking cool. Yeah. I use G-Force now with my X-Reels in a hotel room. And it was like, whoa. Because you're living in the future. I forgot I was playing that would not run great on my hand.
Starting point is 00:52:32 Steam Deck. Yeah. And it was awesome. So this is ray tracing low mode, which is 30 frame per second kind of by default. That's also what you would be getting on console. Ray traced local shadows, I believe. We don't have ray chase reflections on. I would say for me, ray trace reflections would be like the thing I'm concerned about
Starting point is 00:52:55 the least. I care most about ambient inclusion and shadows. I mean, this was great. I think this looks really solid. Looks really great. What was the setting we went with? Now, I don't know how cyberpunk got updated for PS5 Pro, though,
Starting point is 00:53:15 because that did happen recently. Let's turn on, I mean, let's just play with fire while we're here. All right, it's set to auto, which is probably a solid call. I wish I could just, like, hit. There you go, let me do that. I don't want to have to scroll all the way down and get the fly. Which I think that's the best thing about this whole console
Starting point is 00:53:40 is the thing that you can buy separately, which is the Steam controller. Yeah. It is just so nice to be able to boot up any video game and be like, oh, can I play Slade the Spire? Oh, I can just play it. I mean, I could use a controller set up with it, but oof. Tough, tough, tough, tough.
Starting point is 00:53:55 And this is with, sorry, I didn't see what you were setting up. Was this performance or was this ultra performance? I think I put it on Ultra. And then with path tracing? No, no, no. Oh, you just turn on it all. Yeah, let me turn off reflections. This is high, everything.
Starting point is 00:54:13 And we're on high. I mean, that's... 1440p. I mean, that's 4K. Yeah, no frame gen. We're getting close to 40 frames per second. Not bad. Not really good.
Starting point is 00:54:23 I think that's pretty darn good. I'm happy with this. It looks better than the switch too for sure. Probably both. Because you usually forget. I love Jackie Lowe's, man. Hey, Jackie. I got my bag this a sweet-ass J-O-B.
Starting point is 00:54:39 I need a finish this game. What? I need a freaking lock-in. I got lock-in. Oh, Roger. I play maybe like 10 hours in this game and then I just always drop off. Roger!
Starting point is 00:54:48 I get like, I've gotten pretty deep into it and then I just fully dropped off. And I restarted recently and then I was on my Switch and then this is the save from my Switch. And then, yeah, it's a little. Roger, let me really get into the tinker bag right here. I'm gonna go to 1620. God, Fred, gosh, says they can't really do...
Starting point is 00:55:07 This can't reliably do 4K. Why would they advertise it like this? It's the same reason why the PS5 had 8K. For a while, they took that on for the second. It technically can do it, but it can't do it. They're like, actually, why don't we put that on? Who put that on there? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:22 That wasn't to me. Let me... Yeah, it's... I don't know. I do think that they would have had a better time marketing this to 4K4. 1440P, hardcore gamers or gamers that want to get into, are PC curious, but are not necessarily ready to, but if you're paying $1,000, you're dipping your whole fucking leg into this thing, right? You're not half-sees on PC gaming if you're putting $1,000 into a Steam Machine.
Starting point is 00:55:48 And yeah, we're at the point now where I'm actually, we talk about the exciting things about this, and this kind of sucks for Val, but exciting for me, is that now I'm free. I'm free of the Steam Machine. This is not something that I don't have to worry about wanting to get it. I'm not interested in it. I don't necessarily want it. If this ended up in my house, I'd be happy with it, but I don't know where it's going. I will be taking that controller. Oh, Greg will definitely think. Okay, yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 00:56:10 Well, I will be taking that controller. He already has, though he has. Yeah, exactly, that's happening. But this thing is, this is not for me. I don't want it. Now I get to play the fun game of tinkering in a different way when I get to build my own steam machine. Now for the next, after this wedding, after I spend all my money on my wedding and I'm broke, and then we rebuild it.
Starting point is 00:56:29 We rebuild for my future. Okay, we got the rainy day fund. Steam machine fun. We're building the Steam machine, okay? So I'm very excited about that, because I will be figuring out a way, I'll keep you updated chat the next year. I will be building some type of home mini ITX, ATX, ATX build in my living room,
Starting point is 00:56:46 and I'm very excited, and Lanz is going to fucking hate it. But I have seen the videos. There was one, like, maybe a year or two back where somebody figured out a way to boot up a PC on Windows just by using an Xbox controller. Like, you boot it up. up, it turns on like a fucking PC, like an Xbox, it fucking, you know, automatically when you use it, it does the whole thing. So it's like, that would be dope.
Starting point is 00:57:09 But I will scrapyard Wars it. I will buy use parts. I'll figure it all out and I'll make it happen. Face to face. This looks pretty solid. This is so, I got, I lowered down a 1620 p. At 1620 p. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:27 Okay. A little bit about 1440. And then I put it in an ultra. Yeah. We have most things set to medium except for ambient inclusion set to high. This is awesome. I would have been fooled this is 4-K. Let's hear what old Dex has to say.
Starting point is 00:57:43 Set it up. Yeah, we're far away. Yeah. I mean, this is as close as I ever got to my TV when I'm in the living room. I'm not this close. Now let's see how this looks. Let's get into a vehicle. I love Jackie Wells.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Get I said he else. Brut your wheels. He was so good. Yeah, it looks pretty good. I should try it out. Thanks, Jack. I'm pretty much appreciate it. I'm playing, I'm probably even Devil Mell Cry 1 right now. It's a lot of things to do.
Starting point is 00:58:10 So top notch work Miguel did. Rides like it looks. Factory new. How does this run on a $1,500 Xbox sign? Great question. I like sitting really close as Mike in the chat. Yeah, we know. Let's feel this factory new ride.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Let's see how some, how Jackie looks in the sun. I mean, yeah, I mean, hey, this is, this ain't bad, this ain't a bad situation. Yeah, I'm not mad at the situation, but see how long it took to get to the situation. Took a while. It took a while for him who knows all the fucking buttons. If you don't know what any of these things mean, you're going to be banging your head. It would have been so much easier on keyboard mouse, too, because I... Yeah, you would be fucking flying.
Starting point is 00:58:52 Yeah, everything works differently. As chat saw, the amount of times I would scroll to the bottom and go too far and I would ride with the top and I can't go back to apply, so you just have to hit right. That's all it took, but I'm stupid. That guy looks scary as fuck. He sure does. Awesome. This is a great showing right there. Yeah, pretty good.
Starting point is 00:59:12 Awesome. And this is so funny because this is what I do is that I would tinker, get to this point, and be like, cool, close the game. That's my gaming for the day. We crushed it. Awesome. Any other things you might want to show on?
Starting point is 00:59:26 Let's see. Let's go to the main mini. Let's see if there's anything else. There's one more. I mean, people were... See my friend Jack. People are like, let's show... The OS. The OS is the Steam deck OS. It's the same thing. It's big picture mode on your PC.
Starting point is 00:59:35 It's there's nothing different with it. There's nothing special about it. There's a new little logo for the steam machine, which I think is cute, which you see sometimes when you load up things. You connect to Wi-Fi or whatever for the first time. You see that. Let me just do one more thing. Ah shit. He's still tinkered. I'm holding me to tinker one more time. You don't say. She's so sweet. It's me playing Forza. I was happy enough people understood that I was talking to the chat. Oh Jesus. But I wanted to see how the sunshadows looked. Yeah, it looks great.
Starting point is 01:00:11 I think it looks pretty awesome. How do you switch to... How do you switch to camera? Oh, right on the D-pad. The fuck you want. Andy, side note, but like, did you get kind of emotional looking at the images of GTA-6's Ultimate Edition? The Ultimate Edition?
Starting point is 01:00:29 I kind of looked at it, and I was like, I looked at Tim and I was like, I don't know if we're going to get codes for this game. I'm paying $100 dollars. I don't want, you know, I don't want to say that out of luck because Barrel will just own me. Yeah. and call me a slave to capitalism, which I am in this case.
Starting point is 01:00:42 Yeah, I guess we all are, yeah. Because it looks really cool. I'm paying $100. I got so giddy. I got giddy. To me. Yep. And it just, I got really excited.
Starting point is 01:00:52 I looked at it and I was like, when I heard, when I read the thing, I was like, oh, there's no like early access or something special here, whatever. And then I was at work and I'm doing, making the thumbnail. Like, oh, they have more images. And scroll box, like, no way. And I looked at it and I was like, oh my God. I was like, holy fucking shit. Roger don't be above the part of the problem,
Starting point is 01:01:12 be above it. Fuck no. Fuck no and fuck you. I am buying that shit immediately. This is a once in a fucking... I looked at him and I was like, I think gave us a code and it's the regular edition. Fucking sweat for the card immediately. There's no way.
Starting point is 01:01:23 It's one of the things where I'm like, look, man, Ubisoft does this for Assassin's Creed. And it's always a fire guy. Let Rockstar do this, you know what I mean? That one, bro. Let Rockstar have it. Jinker says it's just a shitty move from
Starting point is 01:01:37 Rockstar. The biggest shitty move is no physical disc. That's the... That's insane. That's fucking disgusting. Yeah, we got to talk about that part. But I will be purchasing that. You could at least resell a freaking Nintendo key card or whatever. Yeah, exactly. Or the fake, or just give us a fake commemorative disc. I'd rather than give us a blank disc than anything. I guess that's pretty much it. I mean, I'm looking
Starting point is 01:01:55 through here. We don't really have... I don't... I download Piccuniku because I realize I had that. I'm very excited. I'm going to be a Pekuniku guy. I don't think any of the rest are downloaded, so it was just that it. You download Ellen Ring. I'm assuming that's just going to run fine. I mean, it'll run like Eldon Ring, which is, you know, 52 frames. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:02:12 52 frames for a second. Yeah, exactly. But, yeah, this has been our Steam Deck, our Steam Machine review so far. I'm sure Greg will... Some stuff doesn't run. Yeah. I'm excited to see if Greg takes us out, we'll say what his review is. What he thinks is like a more casual PC gamer who just wants to, you know, put on something and see it just work.
Starting point is 01:02:29 I actually think he's going to have more issues with this than he does his Razor. Really? because he likes Doc in his steam deck on the TV. Yeah. I don't want to talk about anymore. You said Doc, you made that, I don't know just think about that now. When Docke comes to your mind, you just can't stop.
Starting point is 01:02:50 You get really excited. Everybody, thank you so much for joining us for this episode of Games Cast Plays. We appreciate you all watching and hanging out with us. Tomorrow we return with a boatload of more content, games daily, with another. The Games cat. GTA 6 trailer maybe.
Starting point is 01:03:09 Oh, don't get me excited. Oh my God. Don't get me excited. Also high on left too. We're doing a little sponsor stream with them. And then Friday. Oh, me and Greg make an album. That's what the didgeridoo fell in the background.
Starting point is 01:03:22 That's why we had the did you do earlier. It all comes full circle. This is big. Thank you so much for watching. Make sure you click the like button. And if you're watching after the fact, on mobile, you might see a little hype button there. You get free hype points.
Starting point is 01:03:36 quote, if you're listening on audio, and quote unquote, you get a free hype point. Give us those hype points. The more hype you get in a video, it gets pushed into an algorithm, and we hope that that works. You know, we're all going to die. You know, like, you say these words out loud, and you're like, this is a fault, like a crumbling system, like just in general. We're on shaky ground, Roger.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Same thing. We're on shaky ground right now. If you press the hype points, we might be able to pay our mortgages. Or get mortgages. There was a funny-ass tweet of somebody that was like, hey, this is so-and-so's girlfriend, and this is how she looks now. She's definitely showing all the guys out there,
Starting point is 01:04:17 or she's definitely showing, like, her ex-boyfriend, what he's missing out on. And somebody quoted, and he was like, do you ever just feel life slipping away from you? It's insane it. You crush it. We love you all. Thank you so much for watching.
Starting point is 01:04:28 We will see you tomorrow.
