Hello, gamers.
Welcome to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Monday, September 14th, 2026.
I saw this on the calendar and I thought,
Kind of weird to talk about this because like the demo's out.
And I forgot this game was called Revelation.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I thought it was resonance.
I thought it was resonance.
No.
Very, very confused by that.
I was like,
how weird.
I guess Tim went to go play that recently.
But I knew that you had also gone to come play this.
Now,
it's funny you say that because I don't know if you know that this happened.
But Greg went to Pax and had an appointment for the same thing I did,
the ability to play about 45, 50 minutes of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
And they also had the demo for Final Fantasy 7 Resonance.
So Greg went and did that.
And then when they were like, oh, do you want to go do Final Fantasy 7 revelation?
He goes, oh, no, no, I don't have a time for that.
I got to do something else.
Like, I just wanted to play Resonance.
And they were like, what?
What?
Like, maybe the only human being on the planet.
Why is he so opposite?
It's just crazy.
Why is he so backwards?
Literal no shade on Residence.
In fact, like, I love the fact.
But that, no, but that demo's out.
And the demo is out.
And the demo is out.
That is so true.
Uh, that, yeah, that's, that's so, so damn funny.
But I mean, what a world we live in that we're getting two brand new final fantasies of
major consequence.
Uh, and, and there's demos are, our preview events at the exact same time.
Like, that's so dang cool.
I'm your host, Andy Cortez.
I'm joined by Blessing Adioia Jr.
Good day, Andy.
And Timothy Robert Geddes, who got to go play Final Fantasy revelation.
I'm so excited to hop into this.
I already asked him, like, a couple questions.
All right.
You got to stop because you're going to be on the show.
If you're watching live, be a part of the show by super chatting on YouTube.com forward slash kind of funny games.
Who is she, cloud?
Now it's Chavez Willingham, though, so it's a bit of a different voice, but I'm excited nonetheless.
Remember, we couldn't do this without our producers on patreon.com forward slash kind of funny.
So thank you. Omega Buster, Delaney the Somme Twining, and Michael Pesavento.
For now, let's begin with topic of the show.
Tots, dots,
this might be too niche,
but you saying
who is she cloud,
to me,
sounded like Dave Chappelle
doing his impression of Prince.
That's good.
I like that.
I do that often,
bless her.
I'm like,
that's reminds me
of the most niche thing ever.
Final Fantasy revelation,
the final battle
to decide the fate of the world
has begun.
Take to the skies,
chart your course
and stand with your companions
against Sephiroth
one last time.
Until the next time.
A vast planet awaits.
Everything leads here.
This goes all the way to the top.
This has never gone.
This goes deeper than we could have ever imagined.
Tim Gettys.
The last time until next time is such a great way to put it.
But what is interesting is where I want to start with this, Andy.
Not only did I get to play about 50 minutes of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, which is wild.
I can't believe that's true.
It feels so early.
You know, it feels like that's impossible.
Even though I've been calling this for like months.
Like as we were like leading into, we knew spring for revelation.
But I've been talking to you guys and I'm like, well, last time I played rebirth,
which came out in like February, the preview event was September.
I was like it feels right.
I'm feeling like we're getting to September.
And then we did.
So, so here we are.
But one thing that's really cool is in addition to playing the game.
I also got to interview the director, Kamaguchi son, and the combat director, Endoson.
So the end of this episode after the ads is going to be,
my interview with them
kind of celebrating
the ride that has been the Final Fantasy
7 remake series.
And one of the cool takeaways from it
for me was them talking about how
this is the end.
And they're not saying it so much in like, oh,
they'll never be more. Like
it's Final Fantasy 7.
They will probably be more somehow,
some way. I mean, we even know from
them that we're getting to story
DLCs, one focusing on Vincent, one focusing on
Sephard. At some point, I
I think they even put dates on them for next year,
but, or date windows for them.
But they were saying that from a design perspective
and from the direction that the team has,
it is very much leave nothing on the table.
Hell yeah.
Like this, this is our last chance.
This do not wait for a next thing.
Do not, well, maybe for the next project.
It is we are trying to complete the realize,
I'm getting chills right now.
I got good.
Final Fantasy 7 remake project.
So go all.
out, you know, if there's a hype moment you want to have, if there's a song cue, if there's a
character beats, if there's a line of dialogue, it's like, this is the chance to get it in there.
So I'm like, there's not going to be a next time. It's pretty cool. It's pretty damn cool,
right? Um, so that's kind of, uh, where the hype's at. Very high. And I can't believe we're
already here. Like, 2027, what year was it that we played? Rebirth? Was that 2020? 3? Yeah, I believe so.
Why does it feel like it was yesterday? That feels right, right? 23 or 3 feels right?
three or four, I always like, there was such a weird fog that I have from like the right,
the post pandemic era.
Yeah.
Pandemic, I can really, for some reason, pinpoint the like place and time.
It was 24.
Okay, well, that makes, it was early 2024.
That makes, yeah, it was early 2024, but that makes more sense on why it does feel so recent because
that was two years ago.
It was on leap day.
But also, really?
Mm-hmm.
Oh.
The 29th.
No way.
It's neat.
Yeah.
Thanks for pointing that out.
But that makes.
even more impressive in, I guess, increases that feeling of, oh, this is crazy that this is coming
out in early 2027. Yeah. What's the years? What's the setup here, Tim? You walk into where?
Let me tell you. Oh, okay. So that's a big part of it, right? I actually feel like that's kind of the,
where the preview of this all begins. But I want to start to say, and I got a blue sky today
from Dre over on Blue Sky who says, I can't wait to see Tim's thoughts on Revelations demo on Monday.
I feel like he's a Final Fantasy 7 fan, but not so deep.
the fandom sauce to cloud his judgment, pun intended.
He says, and he's generally just been killing it recently.
I'm kind of funny.
I appreciate that very, very much.
But I do think that that's an important thing to say.
I love Final Fantasy 7 so much.
It is one of my favorite cast of characters,
soundtracks in video games, stories, video games, period.
Like, there's so much about Falunfancy 7 that is like, my shit.
Having said that, I am not an expert.
I am not, I'm not somebody whose entire life is Final Fantasy 7.
It is more so than a lot of people out there.
But when I see people like this man, Dre, for example, his avatar is Vincent Valentine.
And like, good for you.
That's awesome.
But I do think it's important that like I am not the, I guess maybe act kind of funny.
I am the most.
Yes.
But it's like just for context, it's like I haven't fully beat Final Fantasy 7 in 20 years.
You know what I mean?
It's just like it's, well, I've restarted seven a bunch of times.
And I usually like get, you know, well past the Midgar section.
further. But this is not a game that I'm replaying over and over and over. And I do feel like
crisis core is something I have a lot more touchstones to like the replayability. Or I've seen
Advent children a million times. But yeah, I'm not an expert. That's the only point that I want to
make here. Just because yeah, there are people that get so into the nitty gritty about stuff and I'm
just letting you know that's not me. I just I want to be that person, but I'm not. Um,
he knows more than the average though. For sure, for sure. Um, so jumping into this preview event.
It was crazy.
I got to go to Square Unix's new offices in L.A.
They are beautiful, very close to the airport, which is always nice.
Because remember, we've been before to the one where we did Final Fantasy 16 preview.
It's like a million times cooler than that.
This one actually feels like, oh, this is a Square Unix office.
You walk in, there's like beautiful Kingdom Hearts imagery and like quotes on the walls.
I thought I love.
How many statues they got?
So many statues.
Oh, I love that.
They had this giant thing of statues of cloud fighting Sephiroth.
and it's just like, yeah, this just feels right.
I love it when it doesn't look like a startup.
Yeah.
I love when a game studio doesn't look like there was a ticket master in there at one point,
you know, like I-
It was definitely, definitely.
I love the mood lighting and all that, yeah.
It was cool and like, Buster Swords on the wall, like, life-size wines.
And, like, you know those like soldier boxes or I don't even know what the hell they are.
It's Genra boxes, uh, that, like the crates that you break open in the game, life-size.
Oh, awesome.
With the logo on them and everything.
Yeah, super, super cool.
And yet getting in there, it's just like you walk in and there's just like a ton of creators and influencers and media that are doing this preview event.
And it's always fun to be at preview events because you can always tell the different vibes where it's like you're shifting in.
There's like hour block.
So you're kind of walking in as another group's walking out.
And every once in a while there's the vibe of like, okay, cool, I'm doing my job.
Like I just did work.
And I'm going to go on and write my articles or whatever.
And then there's the vibe sometimes where people walk out.
they're just like, come on.
I can't believe you're about to walk in and experience the shit.
I just experienced dog.
Like, holy shit.
Like, there's just like a, yeah, palpable hype.
And I think Final Fantasy 7 remake series has kind of earned that, right?
Like this is,
100%.
This is something that like we now have, you know, multiple game of the year nominated games.
Kind of funny's game up the year 2020.
2020.
Yeah.
With remake, like, obviously there's, there's so much expectation for this,
but also just excitement for it all.
But there's the fandom of Final.
Fantasy 7 is different than the fandom for most video games.
It might not be the only game that has a fandom like it, but it is in a tier of its own.
And I think it's kind of fun to see more normally like buttoned up press people, kind of losing
their shit just because they're like, dude, I'm playing the final part of Final Fantasy
7 remake.
Like, damn, dude, I'm just a fan right now, you know?
So that energy was everywhere.
And it just got more and more exciting as the, the, the,
PR guy who's I love him so much shout to Chad.
He's just like, all right, so I'm just letting you all know what you're about to do.
We're about to drop you into chapter four in this game.
And you can just do whatever you want.
Nice.
You're going to be on the high wind, the airship.
You can go anywhere.
We're not telling you what to do for this preview event.
The world is yours.
There are story things you can do in Wu Tai.
We'd think that at some point before the end of the demo, you should probably start that
just to kind of see what story progression kind of looks like.
but otherwise you can just fly around,
you can jump out and hair shoot,
you can just do anything.
You had how long again to play this?
45 to 50 minutes somewhere in there.
Does that feel nearly long enough?
No, this was the most overwhelming demo of all time,
but there was something for me,
again, not as the guy that I'm like,
I need to see how this works,
I need to see how this works.
I'm going to need a nice little re-familiarization
with the battle system going into Revelation,
as I imagine the two of you will as well.
Oh, yeah.
Like focus for us that,
The first two hours of playing rebirth,
it's almost as if I never played remake.
I'm like, how does this work again?
And then you get into it.
Totally.
So you get into it and you like get to learn the intricacies
of like how amazing it is because it is such a,
one of the best battle systems ever.
And they're adding so much here.
So it was just overwhelming from kind of all fronts.
No, I was just saying like the battle system is so good.
So good.
Yeah.
So good.
And so a lot of people are going in there and there was two new playable characters,
Sid and Vincent.
And so.
many people are jumping to like play them and see how they play differently and and whatever.
I did that as well.
But I very quickly was like, all right, I'm not going to waste my time like diving too deep
into trying to figure out the differences because like I need a refresher in a way.
I just I didn't.
I'm not there yet.
And that tied with the just overwhelming go anywhere, do anything, I kind of was like,
cool.
I don't even do all that.
I'm just going to chill.
I'm just going to cruise around.
I'm going to see what's out there.
I'm going to go back to some familiar places and see how different they look.
I'm just going to experience what it's like to fly the airship around and parachute out and land somewhere.
And what does it actually feel like and look like?
And what am I facing when I land?
Like what, what?
Where are we dropping boys?
Where we dropping boys?
Like all that stuff.
So I think I was a little less stressed than it seemed like a lot of other people were.
There was some people in the room that I felt were like overwhelmed.
Trying to do everything.
If I worked for an IGN or like an outlet that wants to give you the detail.
hills of, all right, what is all the information I can give to my audience?
The note taking for a 45 minute open world preview like that, insane.
I was telling Tim, you know, if you had the chance to go back and do it all over again,
you look at everybody else, you go, hey, you're going over there, you're going to that zone,
I'm going to this zone, let's all like have this big coordinated effort.
Because that's insanely overwhelming.
Very overwhelming.
It is.
And what's been fun is kind of been talking to some of the people I saw there afterwards and just
asking them, what did you do?
and it's a totally different experience than what I did
and it's all pretty exciting stuff.
Like it's everyone, everyone was like,
oh, I did this incredibly cool thing
and I heard about this other cool thing
and I wish I did that cool thing.
I think not only is it a really awesome way
to show off your game,
but it shows people how much confidence you have
in where development is
and how far along things are
to not even go, except those three zones
you can't go there
and like you get the big invisible wall,
because they're just not done yet or whatever.
It's not fully arted out, whatever.
It's like, no, you can go wherever because we're,
we think it's in a really playable and awesome fun spot.
And anywhere you couldn't go was like a story reason and it's not an invisible wall.
Like, for example, I, of course, wanted to go back to Midgar to see what's up with that.
Like, what's up with the place that we were spent so much time in remake.
And as you fly over, you start to hear like, oh, there's a lot of, uh,
shinra forces and soldiers, uh, like in the airspace over there.
like let's avoid that for now and like they explain what's going on so it's like that's cool you can
keep kind of flying over it but like you're going to get in trouble um and it it felt like a very
lived in world as you look up in the sky flying in the high wind and you see meteor like it's
there's just like this looming threat like it's the tone was right for all of it for being in chapter
four did you get a sense of maybe how many hours that would be into the game or anything because
It sounds like for chapter four, you talk about people having these different experiences.
It sounds really cool for what sounds like it's early-ish into the game.
Yeah, early-ish.
I mean, you know, thinking about the chapters in remake and rebirth, those were about an hour each.
Yeah.
You know, somewhere longer, somewhere way longer.
Like, I feel like the average about an hour, though.
So I imagine you're a handful of hours into this game.
It very clearly, we were in the chapter that was introducing you to the high wind, to the airship.
Okay.
To how that works.
because that is where the big open world opens up of the world map and being able to go everywhere.
And that to me is my takeaway from this preview is I didn't get to do too many specific things.
It was incredibly overwhelming from a gameplay perspective and from a what should I do perspective.
And we'll get into some potential criticisms I might have of that or fears.
I might have of that in a bit.
But I saw this preview as the ultimate realization.
of the Final Fantasy 7 remake project
coming to this point where
we knew it was going to be a trilogy,
we knew that each game was going to build on the last,
but what does that mean,
and how are you going to faithfully remake Final Fantasy 7?
And it's freaking sick, man.
Oh, man.
And when you remade the first,
when remake came out, right,
it's the Midgar section.
And we kind of know what that means
from the original game.
And they expanded it,
but it's really just one city.
Then when we get to rebirth,
and there's that moment you walk out into the grasslands
and you know I always refer to it as the breath of the wild moment
but that's the moment in Final Fantasy 7
that you get onto the world map for the first time
and it's just big green JPEG
with like some mountain ranges
but it felt epic and you know we all like it's
it's the high rule field moment I guess
of tiling textures that's like four by four pixels
but you know the big cloud polygons kind of running around the world
and then you like get to an area and then you kind of get to go into
the more pre-rendered backgrounds and all that but in rebirth that
moment was walking out into the grasslands and you're in this open area and there's like
fiends everywhere and like you know a bunch of ubysoft style checklist things to do that was that
world map moment getting into the high wind is the world map moment but kind of just seen to
the fullest extent of like oh throughout the course of these three games we got to a point with
this one that the final fantasy seven dream of what would a full remake of this game look like
it's this.
Like,
this couldn't have happened
in remake.
We couldn't have had access
to all this stuff.
It's like,
it took the three games
to kind of build them themselves
because of what AAA development
looks like and how massive
Final Fantasy 7 was to begin with.
And all the goofy shit
that Final Fantasy 7 had that makes it so special
and in the amazing story,
but all that stuff together.
And we're now here where it's like,
dude,
nothing was really lost.
Like,
they're really just making sure
that everything and more is there.
You know,
Vincent and Yuffy,
both being optional side characters in the original game.
That's not the case here.
Stories are fully realized.
I mean, we haven't finished the game.
So I don't know.
But already what we've seen from Rebirth
and specifically of remake integrate
of what they added with Ufi,
it's like, oh, I fully expect them to do that
and more with Vincent in this one.
And the story stuff I did do in this
was going to Wutai, which is where Ufi's from.
And she was the star.
So far, the story-based stuff that we had for her
was very Ufi-focused.
and I love you.
She's so fun.
She had such great levity,
levity to such an otherwise serious story.
And everything I loved about the writing of remake and rebirth,
it's here.
Like the story beats they're just at times incredibly goofy
and at times incredibly sincere
and at other times incredibly stress-inducing.
And they just flip back and forth effortlessly
in a way that is very uniquely Final Fantasy 7.
That's really cool.
Who was your favorite, like between,
uh,
between Sid and,
and Vincent, who's more fun of control?
I love my guy, Sid.
Sid is so cool.
Sid has this goofy-ass run that he used to have in the old game.
He still has the run.
I love the before and after.
It's great.
But Sid's cool.
I love his style.
Like his fighting style is very, very fun.
It kind of reminds me of when you play remake and then when we played
intergrade and it's like, damn, a Ufi though.
Yeah, you feel.
And then in Rebirth, it's like playing Ufi.
It's like, I can't imagine not having UFUFU.
on my team, you know, whatever.
I kind of feel that way about Sid.
So it's like, oh, shit.
Like they, they already did that again.
But man, nothing compares to Vincent.
Oh, shit.
Y'all nothing compares to Vincent.
Hell yeah.
It's like, who.
First off, Vincent's cool as hell.
Yeah.
So there's just that inherent, like,
it's kind of like in the other games.
I always want to have Cloud because I like Cloud.
Matt Mercer.
Come on.
He's the shadow of the headshog.
He's the cloud shadow.
What's so sick about Vincent in this one is,
so Vincent has.
what's called a galleon beast form,
where he essentially turns into a summon, right?
In this game, the way that functions is he's a long-range fighter with his gun,
which is cool as hell.
Yeah.
And he's just out there shooting, shooting, shooting, shooting, shoot, but there's an ability to turn into the galleon beast.
It's not like a summit.
It's just an ability that he has.
And then he becomes a close-up melee fighter.
Oh, cool.
And it's like you having that flexibility to kind of bounce back and forth within one character,
it's so cool.
Thinking about the build possibilities
of like how can we maximize
tank version of Vincent
sounds really, really sick.
Let's jump into that a little bit, Andy.
Yeah.
Holy crap.
Again, theme of this preview,
overwhelming.
Let's take the best combat system
we've seen so long
for an action RPG,
like really taking the heart
and soul of the active time battle
of Final Fantasy 7,
but making it a modern action game, right?
Boom,
that's what we've gotten in remake.
They enhance it for rebirth.
the things they're adding for Revelation are absolutely insane.
Because now we have a full party, right?
It's like, Final Fantasy,
remake had four or five playable characters, right?
Then we had added Ufi and Red 13 to rebirth.
And then now we're adding Sid and Vincent.
It's like that's a lot of playable characters that you can have in your team.
On top of that, the kind of star of the show for Revelation is the fit system.
So this is the class system where you can see Sid right now.
Like that's on his normal outfit.
He's wearing the outfit of, I think, a warrior class here, perhaps.
Like there's four different classes.
It's Warrior, Summoner.
Hold on.
I have notes.
He's got notes, gamers.
Stand by for notes.
Stand by for Titanfall.
Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summiner.
They each work kind of how you would expect they do.
One focusing more on defense.
Summoner allowing you to bring
almost like tiny Pokemon
versions of the summons out
to help you attack and
be on the battle build with you.
Mage being able to kind of like help out with
with spells and stuff
which I think is especially interesting with
Aerith not being here like where
you know I feel like before we
we think of like what are you going to do with the healer?
You know what you mean? Look a Barrett's outfit.
That was sick as hell. So again
like the different bits that you put on
give you these different abilities
and different outfits.
It was a little hard to tell going through it,
but I'm 99% sure from what I was doing.
You can have, once you set your class,
you can change your outfit.
So it's like if you want the Sumner outfit,
but with the warrior abilities,
I'm pretty sure you could do that,
which is cool.
And a lot of the outfits are very fun looking.
But there's oftentimes I was like,
yeah, but I prefer the normal one.
So it seemed like I was able to do that,
which is awesome.
But what's great about the fit system is as overwhelming as it was,
where I'm like, damn, on top of all of these characters and all,
because each character has their, some gimmick to them, right?
Usually one button, the square and the triangle,
squares kind of your just normal attack,
and then triangles you're like augment almost,
where it will augment the style of what you're doing.
On top of that, adding this fit system, it's like,
well, we're down just like, there's so much going on.
but instead of being overwhelming, it's cool because the different classes for fits,
it almost feels like they're enhancing how a character functions instead of changing how they function.
So it's more just adding defensive capabilities to a character that typically is not that defensive,
instead of taking away the gimmick of that character.
So you're not needing to relearn how characters work.
It's more just kind of like adding a base level system.
on top that allows you to customize your party how you want to play.
If you like how Ufi plays more than TIFA, then, but you like, you know, certain benefits
that Tifa might have, now you can use this system to make Ufi function in those ways.
So say I'm playing as Barrett and I give Barrett the Black Mage fit.
What changes in real time for what I'm using Barrett in combat?
You just have different options.
Different options.
It's just different options to go and do their different actions to spells of different buffs and debuffs.
Okay.
Yeah.
Interesting.
And it still makes sense for Barrett.
Like if I'm, I guess.
Especially when you see him dressed like differently, then it adds a lot more sense to it.
Hell yeah.
So like, yeah, this comparison doesn't necessarily work because Ayrrith's on the game.
But when we were first or, you know, whatever, you know what I mean?
But when we first were kind of, I mean Arison on the game?
When the, when they beat the last one?
when the classes and all that stuff was revealed to us
in that sort of most, I guess most recent deep dive,
my immediate thought was,
I always used Ayrth mainly as support heels.
Does that mean now that I could make a character
who's primarily like a healing magic type of person?
What if I'm wanting to make them just close up, you know, melee combat?
Does that make, it doesn't really make sense,
but like is that sort of thing possible?
you're not fully able to make any character anything.
I think it's more just kind of like filling in gaps.
It's almost like a third or a fourth ability on top of what they already do.
They're very much pushing it as like part of the core expectation of how you're building your loadouts for your parties.
But like I said, I haven't had much time to play around with that because there was just so much to do.
So going back to the keyword overwhelming, we get dropped into this world and my God, what do even as somebody that's just here that's like, hey, I'm not going to get strong.
about not being able to do everything.
I'm just here to do something.
I was baffled
by how much was going on
everywhere. You jump
out of the high wind and you're parachuting down.
Which you don't have to do. You don't.
You can fast travel. Yeah. This game is
options on options on options on options.
To an overwhelming degree.
Wow. And I do think dropping in chapter four,
knowing I had limited time, it's like
I almost got kind of beat down to the point of just being
like, this is all going to make sense when I play the game from the beginning.
So take all that with the great assault.
What I'm seeing is very exciting and I'm like, damn, there is so much game here and I can't
wait to get to all of it.
But just jumping in, it was like, oh, wow, like this is, this is a lot.
And a lot of people have complaints about rebirth for being a lot.
This seems like way more than that, way, way, way more than that.
In terms of like, wow, side quests?
Just fucking everything.
So are you going to be racing segways?
Here's the thing.
You're jumping out of the high.
Highwood, right? And as you're
parachuting down, there's this character
My, M-A-I. She's
Chadley's assistant. Remember
Chadley? Yeah, who could forget, Chadley? Who could forget?
Hi, Cloud. I can kick him in his face.
My
talked and interrupted me
for like maybe
13 total minutes of
my 45-minute play-thru.
Like, at different times. Like, she's
talking to the background or she literally is stopping
I am flying down and a text
thing pops up. You're flying
to this region. It might have this, this and this.
And I'm like, all right, my, and I start falling down.
Then I land. And they're just like, oh, right over there's this thing.
Hey, I don't this, this new character said.
Like, this is how you use them.
It was just constant.
Every, you just being stopped from playing the game at every single opportunity.
Again, I think when you're playing this game from the jump, those things are all going to be
spread out.
That makes sense.
I think this is a very bad decision.
They should have just turned that off for the preview.
Like, it got in the way in a way that was like,
Oh, man.
Like, I can't believe how much cuts there are.
Let's tune this better.
Mike is just going to hate this.
But it's not all going to be happening to you back to back to back as you're playing.
It really does feel like, oh, this is, they're acting like this is the first time you've used.
It's like catching you up on all the tutorials from the last four hours.
Exactly, exactly.
So I do think that that was a bad call for the previews.
But I really don't expect it's going to be that big of an issue towards the final game at all.
Like I think that it really will be very well-paced.
But then there's the question of,
what are we doing in the world?
And is that satisfying?
I don't know.
That's a bigger question.
There's the towers in Rebirth,
right,
where you're kind of like going to open up the world.
Well,
in this game,
the world's kind of already opened up
because we did it in the last game.
There's different sections you can go to.
I went to a couple brand new ones in this preview event.
And they're beautiful.
Wu-tai is beautiful.
What's the vibe of Wu-Tai?
Um, very
Like a
vaguely Asian
Suburban
Oh
No
She's like a
Ninja
Right
She's a ninja
Yeah
Yeah
Oh
I don't know
Where did ninja hang out
What do you
What do you call a gathering?
Every shop
Every shop just sells like
Throwing stars
That's always been
I first
I've never been to Wuta
It's always been my perception
They only sell Kunae there
Is that everybody's a ninja
Like a Yuffy
But I might be wrong
I mean, you're not wrong.
I don't want to talk too much about the story stuff there,
but I was very intrigued by what I'm seeing.
I'm like, they're giving a full story to Wutai.
Sorry, Red 13 climbing a lot.
This is a boy bus.
I don't know if you need that, little boy.
I know, I know.
But yeah, the stories that they're doing Wutai is cool,
because I've always been fascinated with Wutai
with like the kind of political war story going on
between them and the mainland.
and they really dive more into that in crisis core.
But this is going to be the first time
that we're really getting into it
in a more serious core way
in the Final Fantasy 7 story.
And the cutscenes we're getting of,
there's just a lot of intrigue.
Like the whole tone of the story
was Ufi being a goofy girl.
And she's just like, I'm the best ninja there is.
Very like over the top.
She has her squad.
She's like, these are all of my opinion.
She always makes me laugh.
Yeah, it's very funny.
Yeah.
It's like she goes,
back to her hometown is trying to convince them that
she's a master ninja and they're
all the apprentices and it's like that stuff's funny
but it's also within the
world where we're getting cutscenes
realizing that there's like centrifuge
happening there's spy work happening like
not all ninjas are alike like there's
what is happening who's at the top like
I'm like oh man we're already cooking
with this Wu Tai stuff
within the broader
Yeah I did
espionage
Yeah
Is that so big
Wait, centrifuge and espionage?
Yeah.
No.
What's centrifuge?
I think that's like a power source.
Centrifuge, a laboratory or industrial device that uses high-speed rotation and centrifugal force.
It's the thing that spins tests.
Subterfuge.
Subterfuge.
Oh, okay.
Subterfuge.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Exactly.
I mean, I did just Google centrifuge espionage.
And it refers to state-sponsored operations targeting uranium enrichment facilities.
So I was wrong.
I thought you meant to say espionage.
No, I meant to say subterfuge.
Gotcha.
Yeah, I appreciate you all.
I'm always there for you.
A lot of cool stuff going on there.
Kevin brings up Queen's Blood.
If you go to the Golden Sasser,
an entire wing of the Golden Sossar is now, Queen's Blood.
I'm going to be hanging out.
Cold Sweet's Blood Questline.
I'm going to be there for a while.
I didn't do it, but the guy next to me did it.
So only tournaments?
It's like a big tournament going on.
Oh, man.
With story missions?
Story missions.
You got to point me to the guy who did play a lot of Queen's Blood
because I got a lot of questions for them.
But separately, you're talking about going to the Wu Tai.
Is it just Wu Tai?
You're talking about going to Wu Tai and then like, you know,
entering into the Ufi story here.
How much of, I guess, that level of story content feel nonlinear?
Like, do you feel like he could have gone somewhere else and now it's Sid's whole story?
There's, no.
There's a clear linear story.
It's chapter based, right?
So it's like, they're trying to, it's very, it's very much, they were saying like, yes.
So they told us
And that's why they were like, hey, like, don't
By the end of the demo, you should try to go into Wu Tai
just to see what the story stuff looks like.
But they're also like, but don't go there first
if you want to go somewhere else because once you go there,
you're not going to be going to back.
So I do think it's kind of that moment where it's just like,
whoa, oh, I thought the shoe was going to crack.
But it's like, yeah, if you
like, you're supposed to go to Wu Tai, whatever.
But before we do that, like, do you want to go anywhere else?
Like, the high winds yours, you know, that type of thing.
Um, but when you go out there, there's just so many points of interest.
So many.
And like a lot of them are kind of just, uh, higher leveled beasts and you can kind of
see what level they are.
So I was saying it, you're not finding towers anymore until like kind of open up the area,
but there is on the map like kind of a fog of war.
So you are kind of like pushed to still go through all of it and like open it up.
And I think a lot of that's just to kind of like not have you look at the map and it just
be everything.
Yeah.
Colored circles everywhere.
Um, are you still doing all of the Chadley zone things that maybe aren't tower adjacent, but it was, you know, like the little, uh, memory games and like, you like are all those things, they still seem to be present in the game.
I mean, look here, right? We, we're seeing a green. We're seeing the pink. We're seeing another pink. Like there's the, there's just so much stuff. And then even once you land, it kind of just feels like there's even more popping up. Uh, so yeah, there's just, there's a lot. And, um, it kind of goes against a.
everything that I've heard from the interviews where they're just like,
you know, we heard the feedback from rebirth. So we're like trying to pull back on
overdoing it. It's like, I don't know, man. It really feels like a lot. Um,
so I don't know. It is just a lot of things to do. And it doesn't seem like you have to do
them, but it's giving you a lot of excuses to use the battle system, which I'm not going to complain
about. It does seem like the task they were asking me to do, uh, belt's a bit more like,
oh yeah this is what I want to do as opposed
to like mini games that I'm like why am I doing a weird
Rocket League thing right now
like I think I remember that one
so yeah well at the end of the day
will it will be
overwhelming in a bad way
what it was in rebirth yeah
the Rocket League when it was you were Red 13 and you're
like I just remember just a bunch of mini games
I could not tell you half of them I remember being a frog
at one point spoilers I guess
I don't know but I
I do love how much they love the polygonal cloud
yeah because this motherfucker
because in all the games.
Oh, yeah.
I, man, I will say, you know, just
because I got to be, you know,
a little bitch about things.
Seeing some shots, I'm like, man,
I was just just just Unreal Engine 5.
There's still some shots.
They're just like, oh, that looks so flat.
But hopefully the person
who made that injector mod can get that shit
up and running fairly quickly.
So is there, is there, I'm curious,
because I think as you're talking about
how much there is to do,
I can sense a level of stress in you.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
How, I guess, coming out of this, are you, I guess, how much more excited are you to get into the core of the game versus how stressed are you to deal with the open world stuff?
Like, has that, what balance is tipped more, I guess?
I mean, it's more towards, I'm just excited to see the story and do the main game.
Like, all the side stuff, like with rebirth, I, I think for the first three areas, I cleared everything out before I moved on in the next.
And then I stopped that.
And I did the exact same thing.
That's a pretty common experience of rebirth.
And I think kind of going into this, who knows, maybe my plans will change when I'm actually playing the game.
But I think that I won't be holding myself to doing 100% even of the first areas.
I'll probably start to move on just because I feel like that is the more enjoyable way to play rebirth at least.
And from what I'm getting from this, I think it'll be the same here.
But also I need to get to the end of the story.
Like, come on, man.
I have questions I need answered.
and you know Andy bringing up the the graphics and the technical side of stuff like I am just so blown away by this game I think that the choreography and camera work and sheer presentation and a lot of that heavy lifting is done by the music it's just unmatched to the point that like a lot of the texture issues or not issues just quality I guess I don't even notice because it just kind of like gets to a point from me that I'm just overwhelmed by excitement of what I'm seeing and how well presented it all is.
but it is one of those things
to your point, if you kind of stop and look at stuff
yeah, there's a lot of room for improvement.
Like there is a lot of like, oh, you know,
that doesn't look as good as it does when I'm
not thinking about how it looks.
Because when I'm not thinking about it, it looks amazing to me
and I'm just so enraptured by it.
So did this get you more or less juice than from the
most recent preview?
Or like when we saw that trailer?
So it's an interesting question because I was
saying that like seeing these last couple
previews for it, I'm kind of in a
weird spot where like obviously it's clear you've heard me talk for however many minutes on this
I'm hyped as hell I cannot wait this excitement is so there but there is also something of like
I really don't need to see anything to this game like I just want to play the game when it's out I'm I'm
so sold on it already and I don't know that there's any hands-on gameplay or any trailer they can
show me that gets me more excited so at a certain point I am just kind of looking at something and
talking about something from a perspective of what don't I like about this you know like what
What are the things that I'm like, hmm, I'm worried or this or that.
Like I'm kind of just ready to jump in there because, but I don't think anything I just
said is bad at all because I was in the exact same spot with rebirth.
When I did this same preview cycle preview for rebirth, I came back and I was sitting here
and I'm just like, I'm kind of overwhelmed.
I don't really know how this is going to up remake.
I'm like a little concerned, I guess that like it being so open is going to distract from
the main story and I'm not really going to get what I loved so much from remake.
and then I ended up liking rebirth substantially more than remake at the end of the day.
So I'm kind of in that same place here where I'm looking at it.
I'm like,
I don't know how I'm going to like this better than rebirth.
That doesn't seem possible.
And it seems like they're doubling down on some things that I didn't love about rebirth.
So I don't know.
But like, we'll see when it comes out.
I think once it's all in context, it'll feel a lot more natural.
And you'll get to that point where you go,
I don't give a shit about those.
I'm skipping that thing.
Those don't interest me,
but I'm going to stick to the, you know,
the I would say like the other eight to ten categories of things in this game that you know you can sort of like spend your time with or whatever and I do think that uh with remake rebirth and revelation in terms of the chunks of the story of the original game that they cover I've always loved the first bit the most like I've been really into the midgar stuff and avalanche like I just thought that stuff was so cool it's also like I was saying earlier the thing I've experienced the most of replaying seven and then also now even
in some ways, replaying remake over the years
as it came out on different systems
or getting enhancements with Pisser and all that stuff.
Or PC and all that.
Jumping into Rebirth, I was always saying like,
yeah, that middle chunk of the game,
like I'm a little less interested in.
And then, of course, you know,
the stuff that happens towards the end of it,
that's exciting as hell.
And then there's the last third.
I am a lot more interested in the last third.
I feel like some of the beats
that they're moving from what originally
is in the middle part from the core game.
like a lot of the Sid stuff they're moving into this which makes sense with Sid being a playable
character here really excited for that but then obviously this is the last one like this is the one
that all of the weird whisper shit uh that they've been teasing since the we're not even teasing like
using since the first game like what's up with multiverse Zach like there's just so many there will be
resolutions yeah and uh we might like them we might not so scared of the whisper stuff yeah that's the
only for me is i i i didn't play all the way through the original final fantasy seven and i don't have as
as much of history as you do,
but I've been excited to play through the story
in this sense.
I love the games until them whispers show up.
Usually it's until the end.
Like the way the whispers show up throughout remake,
it's like, okay, cool, whatever.
I'm curious to see where this goes.
And we got there, I'm like, oh, all right.
And then rebirth happens,
and rebirth, for the most part, had me.
And I'm like, oh, this is awesome.
And then you get toward the end,
and it's like, I don't know what's happening anymore.
I'm scared.
Like, I guess what I want is resolution.
What I want is something concrete so I can go,
ah, this is the story.
This is the answer.
This is a sense of finality here where I don't feel like I'm left hanging because
they're doing some weird multiversal type shit.
And like, I know where we're at with this game, it's they have to end with some
multiverse stuff.
I just want it to feel resolved.
I mean, the thing is, for me, I'm right there with you.
Yeah.
It's like, how clear is it going to be?
How clear can they make, they have set the stage?
How can they now wrap this up and make it make sense?
How do they make it make sense?
Yeah.
And I think that that we, for years,
would talk about the MCU
and even now we're talking about how endgame.
People love endgame because it did it.
It made it all make sense.
Yeah.
We put a bow on it.
It put a bow on it.
It involves time travel
and the most complicated,
convoluted plan of going back
and getting the stones from all these previous movies
that weren't necessarily even planning
to get to this point and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
But they pulled it off and we were able to believe it and understand.
Yeah.
They've been setting up so much stuff here.
Some of it really works.
Some of it doesn't really work.
But they have the opportunity to make that stuff all work by the end.
And that's going to be people's last memory.
So I'm being very hopeful.
I think that it is a very tall task for them.
But I believe in this team, man.
They have been together for over a decade at this point.
I was asking, like,
slash spoilers for the interview that you're about to see,
but just to tell these guys,
we heard from Jason Trier's research that,
this team stayed together,
which is one of the reasons
that they were able to put out the project
so close together.
And it's like very much the same team
so they're not like re-learning how to do things
or having to teach new talent things or whatever.
My question was,
is there any new person or new people
that you've had working on this game
and what do they bring the changes
what this game might look like?
And he was like, no.
Wow.
It's our team.
We have our team.
Watch and learn games industry.
We have our team.
That's crazy.
Why is it taking so long to put out these games?
Because you're always laying off people.
But when you have a team that sticks together and like nosy ins and outs of everybody's workflow and just, man, that's the shit.
I'm excited.
I hope this team continues to stay together.
Have they talked about that?
Because I'd be so fascinated to see what happens if this team goes on and makes 17 or goes on to make another remake trilogy of a different game.
He has said things.
He has said things enough that like talking about the future.
He hasn't confirmed it.
I would be shocked if this team's not making 17.
Okay.
I think that that's...
That'd be sick.
Yeah.
Any final words before we head to the sponsor and then watch your interview?
Dude, I'm so excited.
You know, this is it.
This is the end of Final Fantasy 7 remake project.
It's coming in April.
I can't wait to play it.
Again, I do think there's going to be a couple more preview cycles.
I don't need to do them.
You know, like maybe we'll send someone else if someone else is interested.
But I would like to go.
Yeah, that'd be fun.
I have tribute.
Yeah, it's wild.
I can't believe.
I played the remake demo,
the preview event in San Francisco in,
I want to say late 2019.
And it was the air buster fight,
where the boss music from Final Fantasy Seven's kicking in,
full guitar, full choir.
And I had an emotional moment in that preview station
where, like, I had to pause it,
and I was talking to the PR person,
And she was just like,
crazy.
This is unbelievable, right?
This is unbelievable, right?
Like, this shit just means something to us in such a different way.
And like to be this far in to see what they've accomplished.
And like to talk to the director and like, you'll see it in the interview.
I ask him like, this is a victory lap, bro.
Like how confident are you?
They are confident, man.
And that makes me confident because like I said, rebirth, remake.
Those are both Game of the Year nominated, if not Game of the Year winning, both the kind of funny and the Game Awards itself.
I don't think there's going to be anything different for revelations when it comes next year.
So, hell, yeah.
We'll see.
I'm excited.
That's a statement.
Well, let's hear a word from our sponsors and then right after.
Stay tuned because it'll be Tim talking to.
Amaguchi-San and Endosan from Square Enix.
Very cool.
We'll see in a bit.

Hello, so good to see you again.
How are you?
Yeah, good.
Yeah.
So nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, too.
I want to start to saying congratulations.
It's been a couple years since Rebirth came out,
and that was such a success.
But to see you the last couple of years working on this,
getting it ported to every system possible,
as many players as possible,
and doing every press opportunity.
I see you at every convention.
You're so passionate about this.
Like, what...
Does this feel like a victory lap to you?
Yes, yeah,
yeah, I'm, you know,
I've been doing for,
and this last year,
you know, this time, I feel like,
I'm, and, and, and,
and, and, and, for it,
for Final Fantasy, this liberation,
I, I, just kind of, like,
kind of, like,
the kind of, like,
so,
I can't do it as a
passion,
and you can
this work
of the new
music of
now in my
now in my
this past
10-plus year
run is certainly
a very big
grand adventure for
all of us involved,
and, you know,
with Revelation launching
next April,
the finish line is
almost there.
And what I can say now
is that with how the game
is shaping to be right now,
we're pretty confident
with how
it's probably going to look out.
So yeah, all that's left for us to do
is just keep running and do what we can.
How exciting and different is this launch,
not being exclusive on one console,
but being everywhere, day and day.
So, so, for the one,
this, this title,
as a creator,
to the most, like, this work in
in this, fan to this,
and, really, this launch of time
in the timing,
in a lot of Final Fantasy 7
and people
with us
with us
so that
we can
we can't
be multiple
global,
obviously
that's
absolutely
people can
we're
here.
here we're
we're to do
everything
and we're
to
really,
to be a really
time to go to
try and
that's
as a fan, sorry, I'm just a second, both as a creator, the developer of the remake series, but also as literally the biggest fan of FF7 in the world, because I'm in such a close, you know, I have such a close relationship with the project.
Being able to release this on day one for a platform all across the world globally is just makes me very, very excited.
What I really wanted to do with Revelation was that I really wanted to like share this moment of celebration with fans all across the world.
world and in order to achieve that, you know, having this multi-platform format on day one was
very much a necessary thing to do. So yeah, I can say that I'm really excited to be able to do this
with the fans across the world. And, you know, we're just going to do what we can to deliver
the best product that ever is. Final Fantasy 7 is so important to so many people and, you know,
many video games are, but there's something special about Final Fantasy 7. This really,
remake trilogy is, in my mind, the most ambitious video game project that we've seen.
And being there when it was a rumor to now being there when it was announced and then the
games coming out, it's been so cool to see the same team or so many core members of the
team be able to work on this project and the continuous projects.
Are there new members joining the team for this iteration that you're excited about
their new perspective or what they bring to the table?
This is really,
I'm really
when I'm
really
but I'm
reverse
from the
liberation
is actually
the
correct
sort of
not
probably
90%
of
of
that's
that's
that's
that
the
liberation
that's
that's
that's
now.
Corona-K-A, AAA, 18, or so it's a lot of
when it's all over,
it's quite, like, all over
people are all over,
but here,
so, all the same
people are all the same
to make sure
to make sure
to make it,
it's the result
that's the
that I'm,
I'm really,
I'm really,
I'm really,
I'm really,
respect.
Every time when I talk
about this is surprises
a lot of people,
but we actually retained most, if not all, of the development team from Rebirth as we headed into the development of Revelation.
So I can't really share the exact numbers because I haven't counted them, but I think 90 to 95% of the staff have remained on board to develop the third installment of the remake series.
And yeah, and again, every time I talk about this with my video game colleagues in the video game industry, they get surprised.
because whenever a AAA game development is completed, usually what happens is that the development team just as bands and the Aldi members just go on to, you know, separate projects to work on their next title.
But with, you know, with the remake series, I was incredibly lucky to continue to work with incredibly talented individuals who share a common goal and vision with what they wanted in terms of a, it shared, it shared,
shared goal and vision for the remake series.
So I'm just incredibly, you know,
grateful and proud of them.
So, like,
this work for this,
more to,
more to a new,
kind of,
or another to,
remake, reverse,
liberation,
that's,
the same,
the same,
the same,
the same,
to answer a question,
we didn't really have any
new members that came on board
with Revelation.
We really ran through this 10-year journey with almost the same group of people.
I think that is so special.
And as somebody that covers video game news every single day, it's been very difficult recently and a lot of bad news.
And I just, again, want to say congratulations for being a shining star of an example of being able to do something on such a big scale with such a talented team.
And again, being so front-facing and transparent and open with media and with the fans, it's very refined.
refreshing and I think we're all lucky that we have y'all working on something like Final Fantasy
7.
Oh, that's not that, you know, I'd be able to, I appreciate.
Thank you, thank you, yes.
Endo, son, the new battle system with fits, how are you managing not having the battle system
overly complicated for players, whether they've played the other ones before or jumping
into this?
There's so much going on.
And like, what was your kind of starting place for adding even more things going on in the battle system?
Yes, I'll say, you know, first, you know, that's the main concern.
But, uh, uh, reverse-made set up to, you know,
like, you know, the reverse-in-systems put into the system in the way,
like,
also
very
like,
I'm going to
whatever
doing what I'm
not a little
I'm a
I'm a little,
I'm not
thought I'm
something,
uh,
that's the
thing, and the
way,
uh,
the reverse
the time,
really,
completely
new system
to set,
uh,
uh,
,
that,
uh,
again,
uh,
actually,
uh,
actually,
at the,
ATB,
or maybe,
AP,
or MP,
or refue
gauge,
or
like that
where
the system
of a
different
kind of
kind of
kind of
kind of
so I'm
know
easy to
kind of
and it's
kind of
going to
do you,
it's a
bit of
easy
to be based
to base
to think
so yeah
the point about
you know
a
adding an
entirely
used system
could
potentially be
you know
confusing
for the
players
that's
definitely
what
the same exact concerns that we had on the development side when we were first ideating this new system.
But looking back at Rebirth, the Synergy System was also a completely new addition and also a popular edition from the fans at the time.
So we wanted to think about what we could do different and new for Revelation, not adding anything new, we felt that that was not the right way to go.
So we definitely wanted to add something new,
the same exact way that we did what you did for rebirth.
So the first, what really kick started this discussion,
this idea was that what if we were to introduce a system
that could kind of like expand the resource management aspect
of the combat, specifically speaking,
like the MP and the ATV gauge.
But yeah, in terms of like how it would actually work out in the game,
we didn't want to, we definitely didn't want to make it over complicated.
So for the player.
So in terms of how the system is going to look,
we wanted to introduce the system that was simple enough
for the players so that they can ease into it
as they proceed the game.
But as they try out all the different fits that's
available in the game, all the different combinations
I use with the weapons and the different materials
and things like that, they get a better and deeper understanding
of how exactly the fit system is supposed to function.
What's the thing that makes you most excited about
the pit system.
Ah, exciting.
Now, now we're
used to, reverse
made-killed-character
but four
different wear
sort of
sort of
kind of
kind of
wayr in order,
it's a little
kind of
kind of
sort of
sort of
all the character
to one from
after time
to findue
to make
personally
really good.
I will say
that
about this fit system is that even with the characters that were previously introduced in ff7 rebirth,
by utilizing the fit system, it gives a completely different combat experience in the game.
So it's designed in a way to encourage players to try out a lot of the different combinations
that players might be able to apply to these characters.
So it gives a different very much of a new experience that they've never had in the rebirth or remake.
So certain bits would even change the standard attack for the character.
So I would, yeah, that gives a very different experience for the players.
So I'd like to encourage the players to try out different combinations.
When it comes to battling the weapons, is that going to change the battle system at all?
First,
the
main thing,
weapon-send
because,
really completely
one-
from a
different different
system to
now.
Now,
now the
time-to-
kind of,
side-content's
and get
and got
and back
and that
sort of
really,
really,
um,
some
to be a
way to
do you
don't even
personally
to back
so I
basically,
uh,
base is
the
battle system. So I will say that the basis is not going to change. So even in the weapon
battles, you will still have the same combat system as you do with all of the other
fights that you will have in the game. And the reason why we wanted to do that was it because
or I wanted to do that was because personally if we were to adopt the entirely new or different
combat system for specifically for the weapon battles only, it would kind of render all of the
progression systems that the player spent time and effort on meaningless.
Because the point of the combat system is to try all these different builds,
and you grow out your weapons and your materials,
and you know, have your own unique load out that's referred to your preferences,
that matches their preferences. So we wanted to stick to that core principle
for the battles and for the weapon battles as well.
But that's
that,
that's
other
other than
other than
other than
other
that's,
the usual
the battle
system
that's
not too,
but there's
very special
system
of course,
we're
doing
and the
other
the real
the field
that
kind of
kind of
other
other
other kind of
other
other
other
things,
you're
all the
sort of
more to
make up,
the
system
more
up, that things, like that
kind of,
that's going to be able to build
that we're going to
build.
That being said,
the weapons are not like the
all the, are not like the other enemies
that you will face in the game.
They're very strong creatures who are going to be a struggle
to fight against.
So there will be a special mechanics
that you'll only be able to use
and experience in the weapon battles.
So, and to give a bit more of an example,
like the battlefield is going to be different,
that's going to be different.
The other characters might support you during a battle.
I think there are some, you know, moments like that
to kind of like elevate the combat experience,
specifically designed for the weapon battles.
Hamaguchi-san, I love going back and watching Twitch streamers play Rebirth
and some of the favorite moments of mine.
Do you ever go back and watch reactions or watch players play certain moments of the,
of Remaker Rebirth?
And if so, what are the moments that you try to seek?
out.
Yeah, so I actually do check out the streams.
Remake and reverse,
that I, in my, in my,
like, what's the nature of the kind of,
what are the kind of,
I'm one thing.
And I...
There were specific moments in the game for both remake and rebirth,
where I was thinking like, oh, I'm like, really,
curious to see how people react to this.
One is, the remake is,
the game of the game in the
game's in the
world market,
in the corneo
in the
time, the tournament
in the
game in the
game in the
game in the middle
much a lot of
the most
as a boss to
as a very,
so,
So I was very much,
so the people of
people who are
people who are
going to
make the world
to make
it's just
I'm sorry
but I'm
nia-n-ya
and I'm
so the first
example with
Rebirth is that
there is a
Hell House
boss battle
in the
wall market area
and considering
that it was
around the
halfway of
the story
we really needed
like a spike
of excitement
that
you know
kind of brings
that makes it
a lot more fun
at that point in the story.
So because of that, we made the Hell House boss particularly a bit stronger than the other
boss monsters.
So that was kind of the moment where I was thinking, like, oh, I'm curious to see how all the players
and the streamers would react to it.
And sometimes I do see, I still see, or I saw a lot of players like reacting to, oh,
my God, the Hell House is like so strong.
And I was actually having a kick out of that.
as a game as the most most
important to be the end-ing
the end-ing of the Ayrriss's
the end-the-one-up-the-bo-sson
of the other than the
various Ayrrhus'
of things,
you're all of a lot of
can't do,
so that some,
some,
maybe,
the user's
all, like,
kind of,
the phyllis-the-the-the-the-chever
is going to,
like,
I think they're like, kind of, like,
a little bit of a little bit of
but, but, you know,
but entertainment's
as a fact-to-sacquered
to make sure that
really is
the example with rebirth is,
you know, there's that very important
scene with Erith towards the end of the game,
and right after that, you immediately
leads into the final boss fight with Sephora.
And the way it plays out in the game is that,
you know, again, that Erit's moment happened,
but it doesn't give a lot of reading room for the players that Sephiroth boss battle fights almost immediately after without giving much time for the players to like kind of
you know speculate about how what exactly happened in that moment with Ayrh. So I did see some like streamers like kind of a you know
fight starting that Sephiroth's boss fight with like while teary eyed still trying to like collect their thoughts from
that tells me so trying to collect their thoughts from like what just happened with Aareth and um and I was able to like kind of like visit
see how much of an emotional and weightful impact that scene and that whole sequence gave to the player.
So in that sense, I'm like, I think that was like one of the, you know, best perhaps moments in the game.
And I'm just really proud of the way it turned out in the game because as a work of entertainment,
that's kind of that's exactly the kind of like impact that you want to deliver.
So I think we were able to do that with that one.
Obviously, I'm not asking for what the moments are, but in your mind, are there gameplay moments and
story moments for Revelation that you can't wait to see people react to.
Well,
you're, well, manseye, yeah, there's going to be a lot of them.
Yeah, there's going to be a lot of them.
Like, like, like,
you know, what, actually play to me today is, but,
in a lot of this, this isan-bush-sac,
this before we've got to, like,
to watch the, we're, we're trying to,
is quite
take
it's quite
actually
all of
different things
are all
many different
different
there's
so
to the
time
the time
the first
most
the time
the
movie
I'm
obviously
I don't
want to like
spoil and
give out
specific examples
I definitely
want the players
and fans
to like
see for themselves
in the
game
but given
that this is going
to be the
third and final
installment
of the trilogy
of their
you know, a lot of the moments in FF7 revelation, it's going to like tie the loose ends that were previously addressed or briefly hinted and mentioned in a rebirth and remake.
So in that says there are a lot of moments where I definitely want the players to like very much pay attention to.
And definitely excited to see how all the fans and would react on stream included.
Speaking of loose ends, I love Zach.
And I remember being so excited to see him on the cover and so heavily featured.
on the rebirth marketing.
And there's a good amount of him in rebirth,
but not as much as I expected.
What should I expect from Zach in Revelation?
Well,
basically, this three-bos
was, you know,
this final fantasy,
the remake series,
and the original-in-caught-of-the-
or so, like,
to explain-s to character as
that is,
that liberation in many times,
So firstly, I will say that, you know, the fans might already notice this, but
Zach plays a very important and integral role to, not just, you know, rebirth or remake,
but throughout the entire trilogy. And what his purpose and his role is that he's supposed to
convey and communicate or explain how, what's going down in the story to the players.
Re-Everance of the Zaxe
is,
the other
different layers of
in the story
and the user
the world-cocten
to do that
this one step
and more a more
step up
and he also
battle
and he's
different
certain
feature of
doing that
playable part
in the game in
game in
So in Rebirth, players were able to control and play as Zach in certain selected areas of the game.
And again, his main purpose to fill that role was to kind of like convey what the multiple layer of the worlds that was happening in the story to the players.
So sorry, I don't know if that makes that.
But with Revelation, we're taking it a step above.
Zach is going to have an even bigger role.
You'll be able to control and play as Zach again,
but he will also have his own progression system
separate from the rest of the party.
Of course,
he'll, like,
kind of, character-seer,
or the world-sense,
more to use the user to give him,
not only,
story-tie-tie-tie-tie-tequen,
so, quite,
and I'm going to be
so,
I'll probably
Zach's part of
game day
is a
surprise
and I will
also say that
not just the
character and the
worldview,
we're also paying a lot of
particular attention to
the story,
Zach's story and the overall
gameplay experience that comes from
his gameplay
sections. So I think a lot
of Zach fans are going to be
and for a lot of surprises in Revelation.
Have either of you went to one of the Final Fantasy
7 orchestra concerts?
Of course.
Yeah.
Does it, what does it make you feel?
What do you feel?
Two of feelings.
So there's two emotions I have.
Music,
in the entertainment in the
in the other than some very special
you're in a
instant in the
time of the time
of the trigger
that I'm
so I'm still
still, you know,
the first of the
kid when you're
quite as a creator
to you have
a creator
I consider music as a
very different and unique form of
entertainment
and because of the
how it instantly triggers or evokes the memories and emotions that I felt when I was a lot younger, you know, 10 years ago, 20 years ago.
So even now, like when I hear a Sephora off team, I, you know, get all the emotions I felt when I was a, when I was a child playing FFSDD, original F7.
So, I'm doing, I've been trying to do the music, so, obviously, like, kind of, kind of, you know,
So, what, what,
there's what
happened or something, like,
like, what I'm going to
this, like, this time,
like, kind of
kind of, like,
we're going to, like,
I'm going to,
that's very,
that's very hard
that,
and the,
kind of,
the, kind of,
the,
kind of, like,
it's, like,
a, kind of
kind of,
kind of,
kind of,
kind of,
it's, but,
the downside of this
is that, because I'm
involved with FS7
as a creator now,
nowadays,
when I listen to
certain
It also brings back some of the not-so-good memories.
Like, oh, I remember how when we were making this track, we had this very long meetings.
It was such a really chaotic time in development, things like that.
Are you ready to see Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy come to an end?
Well, Tombsack, this is this all right now,
but, the most of, how much to want to, like,
like to, like,
like,
like to end up,
or something?
Now,
now,
I'm going to
end up
to do you
or not
to be
back to
get out of
our own,
we're very
our own
doing,
what we're
doing,
I'm,
I'm,
so,
so
the
team to
do it's,
so,
so you're
at this
final
fantasy seven
franchise
is,
this
this next,
this next,
this
this week,
this
maybe,
something,
something,
something,
something,
kind of,
kind of,
kind of,
kind of,
sort of,
to go, like that we're going to make
it to make this one of the revolution to do
it, we're just to be the
we're just like,
the first of Chicago to Yucan,
to give us to the
and then,
also,
I'm sure to
enjoy,
so I don't know if this could be defined as being ready,
but really what I'm feeling right now
is just, just like, I'm just excited for the fans
to see what the last title, the final installment,
is going to look like.
like, so excitement was, is one thing.
One thing that I've been continuously telling or instructing my development team is that
given that this is going to be, again, the third and final installment of the remake series,
I'm telling all of my team members to like not save anything or anything that might or might not come down the line.
Since this is going to be the final installment, I'm just telling them to go all out.
So we're not keeping anything back.
We're giving all that we can with this final installment.
So I'm just really excited for the fans to experience that in April 8th.
Well, that is very exciting.
That is very appreciated.
And I just want to say thank you.
Thank you so much for all of the games.
I can't wait to play with the fits and all of that.
But thank you so much.
