Starting point is 00:00:00 If you want to get our shows ad-free and our exclusive shows, go to patreon.com slash kind of funny. What's up, everybody, and welcome back to the Kind of Funny Gamescast for Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. It's my birthday, y'all. Wow. I'm now 37 years old. It's crazy. And that's only crazy because we are pre-recording this to air on my birthday. So I am actually right now 36, which is scary to think I only have a couple days left.
Starting point is 00:00:31 No, man. Can you believe that? Oh, my God. Because once the six turns to that seven, I'm not big a six, seven joke, but like, that's when I was a kid blessing. Sunday nights were always cool. Once the clock hits seven, I'm like, it's cool time. Yeah. Linda Ellarbees on Nickelodeon.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Nick at News out of here. Get Nick News out of here. I don't care about. I remember her full name. I don't care about the war in the Middle East. I'm eight. I'm eight, dude. I wanted to know.
Starting point is 00:00:57 I was watching. I'm getting pissed off thinking about it. It sucks. It sucks. It's like, I'm going to watch Cartoon Network. They wouldn't do this to me. me what a time everybody here we are
Starting point is 00:01:07 they're going to push their politics card you network wouldn't treat me in such a way put on Billy and me oh man well if you're watching live you can super chat but we'd just be very thankful for you we're not going to be able to respond
Starting point is 00:01:20 to it obviously because this is pre-recorded but we can give a shout out to our Patreon producers Carl Jacobs and Megabuster Delaney the Sam Twining and Lacks Nomad I don't think I introduced them yet of course we have blessing at a Yoia Jr. Nickelodeon would also have like a go-out side day where they wouldn't have any shows air yeah wow i don't remember that the worst i'll just
Starting point is 00:01:40 watch the isn't channel instead that's that's even darker times because like disney channel growing up don't don't do this no no no no hold on before for you need mr whiskers before like excuse you before decombs the barbarian before decoms i was like i loved the idea of having a disney channel and now that i'm seeing what the content is i'd rather i'm just going to swap back to like it did feel like false advertisement when you first discovered disney y'all are terrific man i was disney channel fan number one i also love nicolone it also didn't have cartoon network oh i mean that's that's a that's a big i loved all three is that the record so you never had tunami i never did holy that's why i never watched dragon ball z that's why he's not doesn't that explain so much god i would have been a sicko
Starting point is 00:02:25 oh no i'm just a sicko in different ways so as i was the adventures of winnie the pooh sicko which i'll hear no bad words about no see that's the rock yeah i guess i guess like when i think of this it was was always the third option. I hope, hopefully something's there if there's something I don't like on Cartoon Network or Nick, but like Disney Channel was a far. See, did he McIre? I had the, that's, but, oh, so wait, okay. Even Stevens. Once we got into that era, that's where I really fucked heavy. But like, was there an era before that? Yeah, what you talk like, because like, like, like, he goes were like 98. No, but like, dude, before that, as I was a kid, it was just like a little like Mickey Mouse cartoon. I'm like, I don't really fuck. I thought I wanted this, but I don't
Starting point is 00:03:02 want, I don't really want this. It wasn't until Lizzie McGuire and even Stevens, I'm like, okay, oh, they got the hit. This is my shit now. What was that show? Larissa knows at all. Clarissa, that was unequoted. Were you watching that as a kid? I was a little too young for it, but like, my brother watched it. I didn't know
Starting point is 00:03:18 about that one until I became an adult. Yeah. And I started watching the Samsung TV Plus shows. I was a little too young for that one, but my brother watched the hell out of it. Was his name Roger? No, that was sister, sister. No, that was sister. There's always a show where it comes to a window, you know. Sister, sister, sister, was on Disney. It was later aired, but like, see, I was the thing about Disney that was great
Starting point is 00:03:37 is that they, they just kind of aired all the good shows from ABC. Yeah, that's how I watched Boy Meets World. Yeah. That's when they started cooking. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Because before that, it was a darker period. Were you watching Eddie McDoward for a hundred deeds? Under deeds, yeah. You never got turned back. Thank God somebody else knows the show. That was Nick, though. That was Nickelode. But every time I bring up Eddie McDowd, nobody knows what it is. Dude, I watched that. I wanted him to get cured so bad. Yeah. I was like he's going to do it one day. I think they must have made like 60 episodes. I just didn't get that 100.
Starting point is 00:04:04 They didn't get to the 100. Every episode was so, so sad. Did y'all watch my brother and me? Wait, was that the one with the puppet? I love. No, that's cousin Skeeter. That was cousin Skeeter. I loved my brother.
Starting point is 00:04:16 My brother was fantastic. Goop punch, dude. My brother and me. That's the podcast. No, that's the Macroid brother. The best one. No, no, that's the brother of Garcia. Brothers Garcia?
Starting point is 00:04:29 This is the worst episode. This is the worst episode. This is the worst. This is the worst. They made a Brothers Garcia movie, too. And that shit was, that shit rocked. It was just my brother and me. It was my brother in me.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Bumb Bam is the podcast. Yeah. Oh my God. Well, everybody, this is the kind of funny games guys. And it's time for the topic of the show. Tots, tots, tots. Wait, this kid from my brother. Was he not the same kid from the smart guy?
Starting point is 00:04:53 Yes. Pajmari. No, not Taj Mari. But like, this guy on the right, is he not the friend? I don't mean that they were in anything else ever. Oh. He looks kind of like. the older kid on smart guy.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I'm looking this up. Look it up. And while Bess looks that up, the topic of the show is Splatoon Raiders. Andy has played it. You went all the way to New York City, the big Apple to not go to the Knicks game to instead play
Starting point is 00:05:20 some Splatoon Raiders. And more importantly, to not go play GTA 6. So a lot of people wondering like, and he's in New York, I was playing Spatoon Raiders. And you've been our Splatoon guys since day one here at kind of the biggest fan, not to say that you are a huge fan. I definitely fell off with three.
Starting point is 00:05:36 It did not play as that as much as I thought I would. I think by default. But two, I really enjoyed. Exactly. You're a huge fan of the gyro controls and Splatoon is such a champion of all of that. It started for me. Because at first I'm like, I don't really want this. And I went, no, I do like it.
Starting point is 00:05:50 This is awesome. I want more games to use this. Splatoon Raiders announced last year as coming out this year. And that was kind of just like a very quick announcement on Twitter, if I remember correctly. they've recently been talking about a bit more in directs. This is the first Spiltoon Raiders with a higher focus on single player than multiplayer. Is there even multiplayer in this one? There is, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:11 I mean, not even know that. Not in a versus way, but it's all co-op. Okay. Okay. So I want to hear all about it. What was your time like as the blessing looks at Omar Gooding? Omar Gooding was the guy I was thinking about. He's my guy.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Yeah, Omar Gooding is my dude. But yeah, the guy I thought he looked like Omar Gooding. He's not Omar Gooding. I love Omar Gooding. Yeah. He, like, smart guy was the funniest. It was good.
Starting point is 00:06:34 It wasn't my favorite, but it was good. I think it was like... You know Taj Mowrie, the brother of Tia and Tamara Mauri. Yes, yes, I sure do. Yeah, that was a real cool connection. They were all in the same movie together one time.
Starting point is 00:06:46 There was a decon. And I am wrong. Who did you just have up? Omar Gooding. Yeah, I know it was Cuba Gooding Jr. In rat race. Brothers. Oh, wait, really?
Starting point is 00:06:58 Let me check. Omar Gooding. Omar Gooding hosted guts with Donnie Jeffcoat. Yep. Yep. Or was it Johnny DeFcoat? No, no, it was Walden Crazy Kids. Oh, that's what it was. Fuck, right?
Starting point is 00:07:07 This is an awful man. Anyway, Splatoon Raiders. The biggest question for everybody out there is, will this finally get me into Splatoon? And that's always kind of been my hope when we first started seeing this. Well, they're making a single player game. Well, they had single player modes in the original Splatoon games. But, you know, they always just felt like modes.
Starting point is 00:07:29 You know, they weren't really anything. They didn't have a whole lot of meat on the bone. They didn't introduce a rogulight mode with a later update for Splatoon 3. And I admittedly didn't play a whole lot of it. But, you know, when I did do the preview of it, I was like, yeah, this is kind of neat. Would love to see them kind of play with this recipe and see how much they could evolve it. And I think the biggest question that a lot of people have about Splatoon Raiders that I've seen, even from someone like Barrett when I arrived back from New York and he was like, so is it,
Starting point is 00:08:02 is it just like another one? Like, could this just have been DLC? And I am super pumped to play this video game when it comes out because this is a lot more expansive than one I thought. And, you know, I wouldn't say this is a $50 title, which I think rocks, $49.99. And it is, you know, you have your cutscenes, you have your production levels, you have everything you would want in a single player type of campaign game. with a whole lot of a variety with weapons.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And the whole kind of like gist of this game is that you are hanging out with the musician duo called Deepcut. And you are their pilot on this plane. And the plane ends up going down. And they're like, shit, we're actually out here looking for some treasure. It's just like, of course they are. Why would a pop group not be looking for treasure out in certain islands? And they're like, well, we need to fix stuff in order to find the treasure. Well, you're the pilot.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Like, they call you the mechanic. That's your role. And you can kind of create your little squid kid or your inkling. And you end up being the person to go out to go look for these treasures. And you're finding loot and you're finding things to upgrade your weapons and your gadgetry. And there's just a lot of fun, a lot of fun variety. And I kind of missed the feeling of Splatoon. It has like, I think Splatoon's always had some of the most satisfying, like, hit markers.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I think of like call duty when you're hitting shots and you hear like a T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T-T. Splatune has always had a very satisfying splat sound whenever you're hitting like big enemies or whatever. And I think, you know, a lot of people's worries was like, well, they had salmon run as one of the modes in Splatoon 2 and then they kind of, I guess they evolved it for 3. I don't quite remember because 3 I just didn't spend a whole lot of time with.
Starting point is 00:09:47 But the salmonids are back with a lot other enemies, a lot of other enemies, with big boss fights at the end of certain things. It could feel like a solo game, and then you could do the Monster Hunter thing and call out for help if you're trying to take on the hardest difficulty of a certain, what we would call like a dungeon or a raid. They're not like this crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Don't expect it's all the dungeon, nothing like that. But when you are doing these raids, you can go like, shit, I need help. Let me call out. And if somebody answers to the call, they'll join your party with their cool gear and they can help you take out certain enemies. I was just really impressed by the variety
Starting point is 00:10:25 and adding variety to a game that at its core already is so much fun to play is like such a W in my book. I can't freaking wait for this game to come out. I'm going to play the shit out of it. My big question, and obviously, how long did you get to play? Close to three hours. Is this going to be the Splatoon that gets people in that have seen this for the last decade that this franchise exists? And Nintendo keeps pushing a lot into it. It seems to be very successful.
Starting point is 00:10:53 But we kind of just walk away being like, like, oh, the esports big in Japan. I feel like that's just kind of the take, right? Yeah. Is this the one that's going to get blessing to be like, you know what? I'm a Splatoon guy now. This is, I would say if you've always had a similar to how I am with something like Sonic, where I'm like, I've always, I always love Sonic growing up.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Just the games are never quite for me. I think if you've ever had a passing interest in what the vibe of Splatoon is, like the, like the inner like game culture that it has. has all the cool fashion. Of course, there's tons of fashion to mess around with. I think if you are somebody who has always wanted to get into this game, and maybe you try out that, you know, network test or whatever they do before the games come out, and you play a couple rounds of multiplayer.
Starting point is 00:11:41 You're like, that's fun, but I'm just not a multiplayer type person. This is the game that you should invest your time in. Wow. Now, I say that with a caveat of $50 title, do not, I'm not saying that, like, you know, let's say, imagine if Halo was only a multiplayer game first, and then they were like, we're going to make a campaign. And then we'd be like, hey, non-multipayer fans, this is the Halo for you.
Starting point is 00:12:06 We're not talking levels like that. I'm just saying, like, I was very impressed with what I saw. Oh, shit. Come on. Come on. This guy's on it. I think this is going to be a super fun treat for anybody who wants to play the game solo, wants to play the game co-op.
Starting point is 00:12:21 You could play with friends and go raid these dungeons and go to these different islands and look for the treasures you're getting. And I was just super stoked with the, again, the level of variety, with all of the gadgetry. There are, the way the game works is you have a multitude of different weapons to choose from,
Starting point is 00:12:44 and you have three different classes of tank that are like your ink tank that you carry on your back, right? and the three different classes are you have your power tank you have your I want to call it like gadget or technical tank or tech tank
Starting point is 00:13:05 or something like that and there's a speed tank and each one of those tanks offers you different gadgets to equip that kind of go with that play style so power tank you can have a gadget that becomes a move for that you do like you go up into the air you do a big ground pound
Starting point is 00:13:22 and that's on a cool down, right? The tech tank is the one that I really vived with. The tech tank has a turret that you could throw out. And I had the immediate reminder of me and blessing just gushing over the turret and outriders. I was one of my favorite seven out of ten games ever. And you throw out the turret. And it's not just, those aren't just the gadgets.
Starting point is 00:13:44 You have multiple gadgets to choose from, two that you could equip to either R1 or L1. I think they're just R and L here. and you can equip those throughout the game. The speed one has kind of like a dash forward slash type of move, and they're really cool just using them at their core level or whatever. But so much of what Splatoon Raiders is, is how you evolve these gadgets and how you evolve your character
Starting point is 00:14:11 because you are leveling up your character constantly with different points and treasures that you're getting. You're getting more, you can make your health bar bigger, you can increase the amount of speed, whatever the hell it is. There's all sorts of different variables there, but the gadget stuff is the stuff that I really, really got stoked about.
Starting point is 00:14:31 One of the abilities I really loved was I would send out a really, I would send out like a gigantic bubble of floating ink. And it was just like a big mass, just kind of floating towards an enemy. And it would pop eventually, or you could shoot at it to pop it. Cool.
Starting point is 00:14:49 And a lot of ink would go everywhere. And the way that you level those up, those come with like level slots, right? You have like 10 empty slots. And if you could find a little modifier, and one of the modifiers might be worth seven points, so that it would take up seven of those 10 slots. And that modifier might be spawn two of those big double balloon things. And the cool thing about those is that now that there's two out, two big, you know, ink balloons going out there, they're connected by a strand of ink that also hurts enemies.
Starting point is 00:15:23 So I'm sending out two of those big balloons with like a beam of ink that's hurting enemies in between. And you could shoot at them at the right time to blow up both of them. You know, gigantic damage towards enemies. The way the turret you could increase, you know, let's say you have your 10 empty slots, which you can upgrade as well. You could buy stuff to give your gadget 15 slots. or 14 slots, whatever you want to do. And you can have a modifier that's like, throw out a second turret.
Starting point is 00:15:53 You can have a modifier that's the turret shoots way faster or the turret shoots way further or whatever. Or maybe the range isn't as high, but it's doing crazy damage or whatever. There's like all those little things that I love about, kind of like the rogulight experience. I think that's kind of what they learned from their experience making that roguelight mode. Is that like, hey, let's kind of do that with a single player mode,
Starting point is 00:16:14 but let's expand that and make it even more. fun and just a lot of the different recipes of how that they are evolving the gameplay and making it like truly a fun game like i i guess my worry with something like spiltoon is i be becoming a single player game i never wanted it to feel like i'm doing a single player mode for a multiplayer video game and this doesn't feel like that that was always my main concern with when overwatch was wanting to do with single player stuff and it's like i something about there's just that weird disconnect for me, and that's very personal, but I'm like, I don't, it might feel weird like, yeah, I play as Tracer in this game, but I could play all the other heroes to you.
Starting point is 00:16:55 There was always a weird disconnect for me. Here, this just feels like a straight up single-player game that you could play alone or you could play with friends. And the, at the end of these big, at the end of these enemy encounters, enemies can get more and more difficult, obviously, and the more expensive, the treasure, the tougher the enemies are. And then a lot of of these areas that you go to and these, you know, what I'll just call them raids and in really cool big boss fights with cool, big enemies, with awesome boss patterns and, and ads that they are constantly throwing out. And it's, it's, it's just was a really fun rhythm to, to play with. I, yeah, I had a, I had a freaking great time with it. We played about, I'd say around close to two
Starting point is 00:17:39 hours, single player, and then we played a multiplayer in like a crew with some of the other people there at the event. And yeah, really, really fun stuff. I think it's like such an awesome way to evolve Splatoon so that it's not just the multiplayer game that some people go, I don't play a whole lot. My friend does, but he's
Starting point is 00:18:00 so experienced. I don't want to get my ass kicked in lobbies. This is a really cool way to experience the Splatoon IP and franchise while like having fun just solo or inviting friends to like go on raids with you and get cool treasures. Hey, things have been really hard lately. Things have been bad in the industry. We're on games daily talking about bad
Starting point is 00:18:18 stuff all the time. I also want to say thank you. Thank you for watching us. Thank you for listening to us. Thank you for sharing us with your friends or whatever it is. I'm not even asking you to do anything right now. I just want to say thank you. Hope you having a great day. And if not, I hope this made it just a little bit better. I don't know. But thank you. What's the, what is the gameplay loop like? Is it more on that rogue like side that you're talking about with Splatoon previous modes? Or is it more of a campaign-based thing? Well, Well, since you're not, since you're not starting off
Starting point is 00:18:48 for like randomized anything, you are going out with your load out that you are constantly trying to evolve and level up and things like that. There are certain areas that are little challenge zones. Like you'll see the big ass map and the map pops up and it's like,
Starting point is 00:19:03 I can go to, like it's like that little blip and that's, that level's called this and it's this difficulty, right? And you see that map when you are setting out on your adventure because you always come back to your little hub zone.
Starting point is 00:19:16 And your hub zone is kind of where all the other three MPCs are. And that's where you level up things. That's where you get a bit more story. But I was like super pleasantly surprised by the level of production in the cut scenes with the characters. I'm so used to like when I play Splatoon and you finish a match or you start up the game and you see, you know, deep cut introing the game for you. And you're always just kind of seeing them static in an area. but it was, I don't know, it was kind of like cool to just see him, like, walking around,
Starting point is 00:19:46 delivering a little, like, monologue, and then, you know, the dialogue's always been very cute. There's, like, fun, you know, quippy little witty lines, but, yeah, the rhythm is you go out, you think of, like, monster hunter, except you're not always just hunting the monster. You are going for mission, you're going for pieces of treasure, and you have to fight whatever is along the way to get that treasure. In addition to the gadgetry that you'll be taken on with you, you have a little ship that you initially repair, and one of the three members of Deep Cut can join you on this journey.
Starting point is 00:20:24 And when they are with you, they kind of do like small damage here and there, but they have like an ultimate ability that is different for all three of them. And so a girl with the blue hair in, I forget what her name is, is shiver her ability is she her ultimate whatever it's fully charged up you like aim at an enemy and it'll like show like a big ass like tube of this is where the damage is going to go and then she ends up like riding on a big ass gigantic like shark huge great white megaladon and it attacks everything in the way and that's like crazy amounts of damage um the other girl
Starting point is 00:21:04 who's in yeah there's the shark right there thank you barrett for the solid b-roll um when you you, if you bring out the other girl with you on one of these journeys, hers is like, she spawns a bunch of, I think like, Manta rays. I forget the exact like underwater sea life. But it's like a constant gigantic area of AOE that's like constantly hitting damage. In case you're maybe in an encounter where you're like, I don't need this just to go to one enemy. I have dudes all around me trying to kill me. I need them all to get hurt.
Starting point is 00:21:34 That's one of, that's her ability. And then the dude who's the big stingray. call him like, I don't know, he seems like crush, but that's from finding Nemo. But he's a cool dude. And he, he has a constant, like,
Starting point is 00:21:49 when you use his ultimate, you are constantly doing a bunch of damage in, Big Man is his name, Big Man. When Big Man is your ultimate, you can see him in this little robot ship right there next to you. Because he's essentially going along with you,
Starting point is 00:22:04 and when you go to those crystals, he in the ship, you'll guide him and say, dig here, and he'll start digging in that area to get all the crystals, which are called the, is it crystallite? No, that's a beverage that you mix of water.
Starting point is 00:22:22 That's crystal light. It's something, I wrote it down here, but I'm, why are you looking at it up? I just want to confirm Cuba Gooding Jr. and Omar Gooding are indeed brothers. Damn, nice.
Starting point is 00:22:31 That's good, because I was really dangerous for Tim if he was wrong there. I knew they were related. You look at these guys, they're definitely related. I just assumed they were brothers. Could have been really, really rough there for. The, I,
Starting point is 00:22:43 gosh, I swear to God. What I have here is mysterious shard on the B-roll. Yeah, so they're like mysterious shards, but it's like, damn, I could have sworn I wrote that shit down. Maybe I didn't. But anyway, it's like, it ends with it.
Starting point is 00:22:56 It's like crystallite or magalite or whatever, whatever the hell. But you are going out for these treasures. And so not only are they kind of doing some damage and maybe getting some agri for you there, they're not really there to really do damage, they are there to dig and get the crystal
Starting point is 00:23:12 and you could also jump off of them to boost you up really, really high up in the sky. And there are so many enemies that maybe their vulnerability is only like on the top of them. So there'd be times where I'd have to like call them over. They immediately pop on you. I jump on them.
Starting point is 00:23:30 That's fun. It's fucking so much fun. Like I had such a freaking blast with this. So yeah, there's, it's not only the two of the three gadgets. Well, I think there are three gadgets you can get total for each tank, but two that you could equip. One of them I loved was just a, like a spiral of ink that would go out towards enemies. Yeah, there's that jump.
Starting point is 00:23:53 And you kind of like have that float down. The, uh, there's a couple of the other gadgets that I didn't use a whole lot because I was just super stoked about like my load out. But it really is, it's all about finding the. currency and the treasures for the crew deep cut and then upgrading your kit, upgrading your gun, because again, that you don't just have one gun. Just like the Spatoon, you could get the big paint brush that like splotches a lot, but it's really, really close range.
Starting point is 00:24:21 You could get the sniper that does crazy big damage, but it's very, very slow. And as much as I, obviously I love doing like the clicking head sniper thing, but there's so much satisfaction in the splat feedback from fast shots that like I love I found like a mid-range type of what I would call an AR that like it's a single shot, but it's like do-do-do-do-do-do-do and it's really, really nice to get that feedback. But your weapons also level up and you will find rarer weapons that have more damage and they do X amount of distance and things like that. It's kind of doing everything I would want a single-player-splatoon game to do.
Starting point is 00:25:03 in addition to you being able to just find a bunch of cool fashion and get your character looking as cool as you want them to. You can also change at any point from inkling the squid kid and vice versa and change your eyebrows, your like hairstyle or whatever. Yeah, it's really, really fun. Yeah, I have here written down on the notes, this shit rocks, lots of, lots of customizable gadgets. Again, up to four players can play online or local wireless.
Starting point is 00:25:30 How do you think you're going to end up playing? I would say primarily solo I think so yeah I could see a stream where we do like a stream here at work to just go take out a couple of enemies or whatever but I would see myself playing this primarily solo I did ask if there was an option
Starting point is 00:25:49 and it was so stupid of me to ask because we know how Nintendo is with their options when you go into the options menu is usually pretty barren if there's even one at all and I was like can I get the number hit markers smaller And they're like, no, but they're like, but thank you for that feedback. Like that's something that I could definitely pitch.
Starting point is 00:26:05 So like, I hope that person was able to pitch that. That'd be fantastic. Because I think the numbers are just a little bit too large, but that's kind of a tiny nitpick, whatever. Let's see what else I have written down here. Difficulty differences when you're playing multiplayer will still give you the same loot. So you could go into a, or not when you're playing multiplayer, sorry, whenever you go into a raid or whatever, you could pick. from easier or harder difficulties and you would still get the same loot that you're going to get anyway. The, what else do I have written down here?
Starting point is 00:26:39 Treasure relics are worth lots of money and they have special abilities tied to them. That's true. Okay, so treasure relics are another thing you can equip that, like, each three of the tanks have their own passive, let's call them talismans from Eldon Ringblest. So each style of the tank, whether you go with like the speed tank, the gadget tank or the tech tank or the power tank. Those are all like color coded. So you know, all right, I just found a purple talisman that belongs to power or whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:12 So you could equip one of those, but then you could equip like a general one that might give you a midair double jump. Or you could equip one that gives you, I don't know, you float in the air longer. I have no idea. They may not be one. But there's just a lot of cool, customizable things that like if you're going to make an enticing game like this and you have ways to make my dude feel
Starting point is 00:27:37 exactly how I want them to and then when I'm playing the most my target game oh dude look at my turrets doing this and that like check this shit out like oh I have this one thing that does this really close range so maybe you set up your turrets over there like it's got all the makings of what I care about in games like this and I think they're
Starting point is 00:27:53 like so far they're really knocking out of the park I hope to see I don't know how much I think a lot of the enemy variety really comes in, like they're all salmoned still, but they don't just look like the ones that you've seen. There's a lot of like different variety and what they do
Starting point is 00:28:09 and how strong they are and when those pop up, you know they're going to be shooting at you from long range. So it's like, oh, I got to go take that dude out because I'm trying to take out all the little guys but I keep getting snipe from behind. There's a really cool kind of rhythm there. And of course, it's got, you know, the awesome gyro controls that I love with the
Starting point is 00:28:25 great kind of maneuverability and getting it to the ink and getting your health back and double jumping off of your road. robot. It's, it, all of it is very like kind of arena based you're playing on, you know, you might go travel from one island to another during a mission and then now you're fighting on that island and it's really, really fun. And I'm super stoked about it so far. Do you get the vibe of the campaign kind of like starts with that cutscene and might end with a cutscene, but there's not really much story in between or no, no, because we, I already like,
Starting point is 00:28:54 it starts off with cutscenes and, and, you know, they're, them sort of laying out the story. but after one of the bosses we fought, we got a cutscene, and that wasn't like the final boss or anything. That was just one of the big bads that you would fight along the way. But it's one of those cool ones where the enemies, you know they're dangerous
Starting point is 00:29:13 when they have more salt on them. There's just something about like, I don't know if that's like, there's always a blight. There's always a blight. There's always a corruption. There's always salt all over the place. And when they have more salt,
Starting point is 00:29:25 like, I even found myself doing that while I was, I was like, oh, this guy's got a decent amount of salt on him. He might be really, really strong. And it's so goofy, but like it, the messaging works. Yeah, I came away from this, like, way more pumped after seeing it at the direct. Because I think the direct just, like, didn't show off great. Arguably, like, the worst of the showings that we've seen of Spiltoon Raiders, this one got me, like, back up to, like, I'm super juiced for this. And I really want to play this when it comes out.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Next month, less than a month, July 23rd. 50 bucks. 50 bucks. Switch 2 exclusive, right? Yeah. And it looks great. Like again, I did boot up Splatoon 3 when the Switch 2 update happened. And so it was awesome.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Like, oh shit, this is so crisp and it looks great and it runs at 60. But I kind of forgotten how that looks. And I have it just in my brain how Splatoon looks on Switch 1. And so to be there at the demo, I was like, oh, man, this looks really good. And it's just such an appealing art style, very colorful, very bright. cute characters and awesome combat with a lot of variety
Starting point is 00:30:31 hell yeah big update big update I found the name Andy Spiralite Spiralite Spiralite thank you the Spirolite Islands
Starting point is 00:30:39 That's what they're called And like They're going there for some reason Bear it There's some like deep shit We don't know what's happening But like It's because you're like
Starting point is 00:30:48 Otherwise why the hell is a pop band out here Because it's Nintendo or whatever But I there's like some family lineage shit That's going on I think like maybe they're gods. Who knows? Maybe they're God.
Starting point is 00:30:59 This isn't Kirby. Jump to the most extreme thing possible. Who knows, man? Who does? Well, awesome. There you go. Everybody. This has been a mini kind of funny games cast,
Starting point is 00:31:10 giving Andy's thoughts on Spiltoon because we wanted to make sure that we got them out today, even though we're not making content today. At least not Games Daily or Gamescast proper because we are currently, as this is airing, probably watching Jackass Best and Last. All right. group in theaters. And we're going to come back. And at 3 p.m.
Starting point is 00:31:29 we're going to do a giant kind of funny podcast with like seven people on it. It's going to be a lot of fun. Stay tuned for shenanigans. And we appreciate you all. Until next time, love you. Goodbye.
