Starting point is 00:00:06 What's up guys, welcome back to Kind of Funny Games. I'm Tim Gettys. This is Andy Cortez. That is Greg Miller. Go-GookaGymscast, G3 specials, right? Exactly. This is our post-show analysis of Xbox's conference this year. We're going to go through all of the announcements they made and talk about all of our thoughts.
Starting point is 00:00:22 You can get this show live on Twitch when we recorded or you can get it later as a video on YouTube. com slash Kind of Funny Games or as a podcast. All you got to do is search for Kind of Funny Gamescast on your favorite podcast service. You'll be able to get it there. Yeah. Let's get right into it. Sure. Top level thoughts.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Microsoft E3, 2019. Go. They didn't deliver. No. This was, uh, we've talked about it going into this, right?
Starting point is 00:00:46 And this is going to sound like I'm doing the Greg character. I'm not. One of the things I said when PlayStation said they weren't going to E3 was it would be interesting to see if when we got here, we would say, man, what a smart move by Sony or what a dumb move by Sony. And I think based on what I'm seeing in the chat as we were talking to them,
Starting point is 00:01:01 pre-show here on Twitch, it was this conversation of like, see, this is why Sony didn't do this. Microsoft came out with a lot of 2020 talk, right? And doing the exact same tease for Scarlett as they did for Xbox 1X, where it was like, all right, next year we're going to talk about this thing. It's like, well, okay, well, okay, like that.
Starting point is 00:01:18 There was no, this should have been a slam dunk on paper. No PlayStation there to compete with. You're going to come out and you are going to prove, bam. This is why everybody should, if not play Xbox right now, like as soon as this conference is over, why you should be jazzed for next generation for the next box. And I do not think they did it. saying Halo Infinite in Holiday 2020
Starting point is 00:01:37 did not do that for me. I know you got super excited by the trailer and stuff, but that didn't do it for me. I'm excited, obviously, for Scarlet and I'm excited for streaming, which is coming in October, and they're testing it right now down to D3 and stuff. That's cool, but again, it wasn't like, what was the biggest announcement of this?
Starting point is 00:01:54 Keanu Reeves. Yeah. In Cyberpunk, which is going everywhere. Good part. Okay, cool. Like, I love cyberpunk. I loved the demo. And this is the normal thing we get into with these press conferences. I think this was a good press conference, for sure. Lots of interesting games. A really good pace.
Starting point is 00:02:08 They got in and out of stuff I didn't care about too much. And I don't mean, but I mean how this is. You got to have something for everybody and do it. Maybe a bit too long, I think. There's only so much human attention span you can give things and then you get into games that clearly aren't going to connect and stuff, blah, blah.
Starting point is 00:02:19 It had a lot of cool announcements, a lot of good news and all the stuff, but not stuff where I'm like, holy shit. I need to be playing on my Xbox more. I need to have everything. For me personally, what? Stay dedicated today? That's the big reason.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I think they have a lot of good game pass stuff coming up day and date. But a lot of those games are coming to other platforms too. It's not locked to that. It's just, it didn't, it did not, I don't think, and I'm, I only speak for us for sure. Greg Miller, especially, this was not what I wanted. I talked about in the pre-show, right? I wanted this to be all the, all these different cool things Xbox does coming together to be a, bam, this is what Xbox is and why you should be on board.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Instead, it was just like every other Xbox conference it was, where it's like, hey, we're doing a whole bunch of cool shit. It's all happening. Come be a part of if you want to, but like, not, this is why you knew to be here now. Yeah. I think if the George R.R. Martin game didn't get leaked beforehand. This might have had a bigger sort of shock factor, but we knew that that was coming in, that we were going to get it here, and it happened.
Starting point is 00:03:17 And for me, it was underwhelming. You know, it was just some plot stuff, some, like, fantasy mythical things that I don't really have any, like, I don't know how to connect to it in any way. It's not based on a prior IP or anything like that. I'm surprised you guys were thinking you'd be excited for that one. I was, yeah, because I'm more excited for the fan. And I saw some Souls fans in the chat that were like,
Starting point is 00:03:41 I'm stoked for this. Like, I am too, but that trailer really didn't do anything for me. I think I agree with you, Greg. The cyberpunk thing is like the most exciting thing we got with Keanu Reeves. I wish I would have saved that towards, more towards the end, right before maybe the Scarlet reveal, because they started off with a bang. And for the most part, it was like an hour and a half of just kind of chilling.
Starting point is 00:04:01 What's up, cool, Greg? Kevin, can you deal that? Yeah, I am very, very underwhelmed by this. I agree with you, Greg, that this was a, it was a good conference with a lot of video games that look great. Like, video games are cool. We're at a point now, 2019, looking at 2020. Like, there's a lot of games that look of a very, very high quality. In terms of Microsoft owning the conversation, they didn't.
Starting point is 00:04:23 No. I mean, like, sorry, this is your opening thought. Well, just I think that we all, we, there was a lot of things that we were told. And XCloud being one of them, right? Yep. And what do we know now that we didn't going into this? October. Talking about the next-gen console,
Starting point is 00:04:40 they made a big deal and presented on an E3 stage what Sony did in that interview with Wired, right? With Wired. And it's like, that's not impressive. It's like, oh, yeah, cool. Like, there was nothing they said that I'm like wowed by. And it's like, they got real into techno mumble, jumbo. And it's like, that's all exciting stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And we need to see it. We need to see that stuff in action. And the way they showed in action was Halo Infinite. Yeah, cool. Play Halo music. I'm going to get excited. Like, that's easy. I expected to see Halo gameplay.
Starting point is 00:05:08 I expected to know what that game is. I don't. And I understand it's still a year and a half away. It doesn't matter. Like this was their place. Sony's going to be at E3 next year. You know? Like they're going to have more competition.
Starting point is 00:05:21 This was their time to be like, look, we know what we're doing. And it's like, I don't believe you know what you're doing. I thought this was going to be the Sony conference in 2015 with Spider-Man, with God of War. Sure. Showing off these giant first-party exclusives. 2016. 2016 yeah 2016 and it just wasn't really that
Starting point is 00:05:39 we got a lot of cool announcements that I just think the thing was too long two hours of just kind of waiting around and seeing some neat trailers that I don't necessarily think needed to be presented and I'm not trying to be an asshole at all either and I know it's apples norwich isn't a lot of ways
Starting point is 00:05:55 but just a heads up right they had 60 games today right and it took two hours we have 60 plus games in the showcase and it's 45 minutes not because like we're fucking bad at it's because we know that like what's your, what is your interest level for all these indies and stuff you don't know, right? Like, let's get it out there. And it's the same thing
Starting point is 00:06:11 we've talked about before. This was a traditional Microsoft conference. I feel like this is interchangeable with most of the recent Microsoft conferences, right? And as they did the ID at Xbox indie montage, right? All these games are coming to game pass. And I was trying to keep up and then I just stop. Because I'm just riding games down. I don't know what any of these games are as I go. Like, that's a
Starting point is 00:06:27 terrible way to present that if that's what you want to be a big selling for it? I mean, guys, let me tell you something. That wasn't two hours. What was it? An hour and a half? Yeah. Yeah. Like, that sucks because it felt. It felt long.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Long. We got to Forza Lego. I was like, okay. Like, you earlier you were saying that the, you thought the pacing was good. I didn't. Like, I think that like after cyberpunk, it fell off a cliff. Yeah. And it never, it never came back.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Yeah, we never came back up. And the gear segment, like, that is a perfect example of how not to do stuff at a press conference. They spent, what, 10 minutes? We went under the stage. I mean, eventually we got to Xavier. That's cool. But like, why did we do it? We did it?
Starting point is 00:07:00 To reveal a TV that is showing a trailer that we all seen. It's like, that's cool production value. And it's like if they kept things moving, I would have liked those type of like interstitials. But just doing that and then what they showed for Gears 5, a game coming out in September. Yeah. We didn't see any gameplay. Yeah. Of that.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We saw it. CG trailers. That new mode or whatever. We need to see gameplay for these things. Like they know that.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Why aren't we getting it? Instead we're getting 10 minute segments. Yeah. Escape three player co-op. Coming out in months. Like that's really underwhelming. You look at their first party lineup. Like, Bleeding Edge looks really dope.
Starting point is 00:07:30 But besides that, it's like there was no major exclusive announcements that. that were made. And Halo Infinite, it's like, what did they show there? We knew that last year. And we still didn't. And that still wasn't gameplay. So it's, I don't know, man. Like, it's all the flops that they have and all that, that's great. Are any of these games going to look as good as PlayStation first party titles ever? Yeah. Yeah. You know? And it's the same thing we talked about in the lead into and all the games cast and games dailies, right? Is the idea that, well, you have all these studios you've acquired, but like what can they put out in a year since that you've announced that, right? And we're hoping for
Starting point is 00:08:01 teaser trailers, maybe gameplay looks, whatever, you know, for the most part, we didn't get those from the big studios. Yeah. Cool. Again, cool news that they picked up double fine. Yeah, but I assume that, I mean, Psychonauts is still coming everywhere. Like, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:12 Like all the agreements and stuff they had coming into that. Because, you know, um, Psychonauts 2 is being published by who? I don't know. Fuck, somebody help me? No, nobody's got that off top of your head. No. Hold on, I got it.
Starting point is 00:08:23 It's the guys who did the Walking Dead, Star Breeze. Star Breeze is the one supposed to be publishing that. Let's see, knock on what if that actually happens. If they make it to the finish line, one of whatever Psychonauts 2 is coming out. I think the show started off strong. Like we started off with the outer worlds, right?
Starting point is 00:08:35 Which is a great game. And it was an interesting, it was a weird trailer. Because I've seen a lot of that game in terms of trailers and interviews and stuff. And it's always given off more of a lightheartedness that the trailer eventually got to, but it just was a weird walk. This is like a world building sort of thing. And then what do we go into after that? Blair Witch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Blair Witch looks awesome. Yeah. That was kind of shocking. I didn't expect that. I didn't expect that. Blair, which I didn't see coming. And I'm not, again, this wasn't a bad conference, I don't think. There's a lot of great games in here that I am interested in.
Starting point is 00:09:03 But again, like, I don't understand why am I going to run out to play on my Xbox? Like, Outer Worlds, I guess I'm digressing. There's so many things in here that are going to make me in multiple places. But out of worlds, I thought looked cool. Bleeding Edge from Ninja Theory, not my kind of game. But maybe, I mean, that's not my thing. Oriene Will of the Whisp, of course, I know you're super into, right?
Starting point is 00:09:21 But again, 2020. Yeah. Still ways out. Minecraft Dungeons, I thought looked awesome. Spring 2020. I mean, I'll play when we get there. Yeah. But whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Jedi Fallen Order, again, third point. already, I thought it was, I thought it was a really good trailer. I mean, you know, I mean, especially after demo and I know we're already in on it. Blair, which World premiere I thought was really cool. I thought that looked really nice. August 30th, so that's coming up. You want to do an actual breakdown one by one thing and like go through it all? Sure.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Sounds good. So starting off with Outer Wild or Outer Worlds. Like, I agree with you that like this was a very different tone from what we've seen. I think that was good. Me too. Like this is the most interested I've been in it. It's still not my type of game. You're not going to play.
Starting point is 00:09:56 No, definitely not. But yeah, I thought it looked awesome. Again, you see that sort of typical mouth capture in a couple of the moments. I think it looks cool. It's going to be a world that people are stoked to explore and live in for 60 plus hours, hopefully. It looks like a giant game with a lot of different branching paths and a lot of different NPCs to talk to and learn and get to know. I think it looks awesome.
Starting point is 00:10:21 I'm super interested in that video again. Yeah, me too. Because, I mean, of course, this is from the team that brought you, you know, fall in New Vegas. They know how to craft this. category there. Exactly. And not having Bethesda on them for better or worse, right? And the engine on them for better or worse. And I mean, South Park, right? Your first one. Like there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:10:36 good stuff going on there that I'd like to be a part. I'm excited to be a part of when we get there. A lot of awesome worlds to live in also. I mean, you show a sort of space world with like neon lights. I'm in, dude. I thought it was really great that it's part of the Xbox Game Pass day one thing because we know that first party titles
Starting point is 00:10:52 are, but this was like one of those weird middle ground because that was before the deal and all that. But it's awesome there committing to it. That's crazy. going forward. 100%. October. Excited for it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Yeah. So then Team Ninja, we got to see Bleeding Edge. The leaked trailer happened last week, but now this time, like high quality with audio and all that. And I thought it looked fun. Thought it looks cool.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I was saying this in the pre-show. Like, if you're here for the first time, it's third person, competitive multiplayer, 4V4 online melee. Game Pass at launch. Alpha's in June in the 20s. I put 20-something.
Starting point is 00:11:22 It's either 24th to 26. Chat, feel free to correct me. I just feel like this isn't the type of game I want from Nidger there. Exactly. Like, I like their single player games. Like, there was a moment in the trailer where it's like,
Starting point is 00:11:32 from the makers of, blah, blah, and I'm like, I love all those games. Yeah, yeah, those games are,
Starting point is 00:11:35 so it's like, I don't know, I'm not a multiplayer guy when it comes to that. It looks like it could be fun. And I definitely seems like it has like kind of an Overwatch meets Power Stone, meets Devil McCrower, what was the gearbox game?
Starting point is 00:11:49 Battleborn. Yeah, I got a lot of Balboor. That's my problem is like when it pops up and I'm not, again, you can, they're like third person, competitive multi-
Starting point is 00:11:56 I'm like, there's a, a, off chance it'll grab me, but there's a great chance it won't. And I feel like there's a giant bucket of those games that you can just toss things in there. It is battle-born. And for better or worse, I'm saying it's Overwatch
Starting point is 00:12:08 and stuff like that. Or the one that I saw, the arena one where you're shooting, it's like smash, you don't die, you get knocked out of the arena. Yeah, I know. I don't remember the name of it. Chat, let me know. But you start tossing them in there. Rocket something? Yeah. Rocket Leet. No, Rocket League. Is that it? Rocket Arena. That's it. I guess I just see a game like this
Starting point is 00:12:26 And I feel like if this were a game being announced at BlizzCon, the Blizzard fan base would say, oh, that's a new Blizzard multiplayer game. I want to get in on that. But I just don't see fans of Ninja Theory being like, I want to play a multiplayer game that would take me away from the other multiplayer games I already play. See, I think that there potentially is an audience for it, though, like people that are into those stylish action games that would rather want the opportunity to play against people,
Starting point is 00:12:54 like PVP. So I think that that that could be there could be an audience for that but it just seems it seems weird It does seem like an Xbox GamePass game and like I'm worried that maybe GamePass turns into this thing where it's like we're gonna see less Long hardcore AAA titles and more just kind of like things that feel like modes of video games like side projects right But when you start seeing all these characters with their their their names and I'm just like man everyone's just trying to catch that 2016 Overwatch high and so few games have done it. Like you look at Apex and it's like can you name the characters
Starting point is 00:13:28 in Apex? Oh yeah, all of them. That's fantastic. They did their job, right? No. Watson. I wonder if anyone can name the characters that were in Battleborn. Like I don't Misham guy. Yeah? That was not his name. It was the guy with a tiny head. Yeah. They had a real tiny head. You remember long arms? All stretch we call them. Then next up we got little Minecraft section, Minecraft Dungeons. And I think that looks great. Cool dungeon. I mean, you know, dungeon crawler, sure. Let's go through and loot and it's co-op. You know, you're playing with four or three other people.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Awesome, cool. I swear I've seen it before. You have seen that. That was not a brand new announcement. You've seen that. That got announced before. But I think that was our longest look at gameplay of it. Yeah. Blair Witch kind of came out of nowhere. Looks awesome. You can get too much info on it. That was crazy.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Yeah, like, I never played Allen Wake, so I was like, I don't know, is it? And like, I don't know if that's exciting or not. I know people liked it. But was Allen Wake good? Or was it just one of those things where people held on to it because it was an exclusive. I think it's, I didn't like it. I remember beating it and being like, I don't really dig this game, but it was kind of just, it blew my mind when I saw it there
Starting point is 00:14:31 because I thought, oh my God, they made Alan Wake a first person, because the whole thing in Allen Wake is, you have a flashite and you, like, shine it at enemies. Like, that's kind of like one of the big systems in it, so. Alan Wake didn't click for me. I played it for a while. But I remember, the people who like Alan Wake love Alan Wake. Yeah. So it's, I do
Starting point is 00:14:47 think it's a good game. I just think it's one that didn't work for me. Yeah, of course. The chat, weird. the chat saying that Alan Wake is like a cult classic Yeah exactly that's how I would turn it to But yeah the that looks cool The fact that this is Blair Witch definitely gets me more interested
Starting point is 00:15:01 Than Alan Wake Like seeing this I was like the gameplay looks cool You were saying that the scares seem like narrative based Which yeah it actually seems like there's a better story there Not that Alan Wake didn't have a story I was comparing it more to like outlast nowadays Where it's like I'm a reporter and I'm trapped here And there's crazy things
Starting point is 00:15:18 What are you talking about? They all have accents like that At some point we got Ori. I think it was here. Yeah. Yeah. You guys inserted, I have Blair Witch way later. Number three was Ori Will the Whips.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Okay, cool. Ory looks incredible. Ory looked like what you want to see from a sequel to a game like that, right? It's like, hey, we had this great thing and let's increase the scale, not to a crazy level, but increase the scale and change it. Where it's like, okay, your platform is fighting giant things and running from giant things. Like, I don't remember ever seeing that in what I saw of Auri, which, and I didn't play the entire thing. but yeah always great and seeing this
Starting point is 00:15:51 I was like man this is very very impressive I didn't expect to see this level of like animation yeah really everything because we know the gameplay's there so that's really exciting the date February 2020 way later than I expected like way way later like I would
Starting point is 00:16:06 I thought this game was going to come out like November last year so being here now and like it's that far away I'm like all right that's kind of true I feel like I've been reading the words Will of the Whisp for like the last decade that's the thing for sure I feel like it's been around we've heard about it But still, looks great, very exciting stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:21 And that's the perfect example of a type of game. I'm like, take your time. I don't really care. I don't need to play it right now. Yeah, it's a work hard for sure, right? As long as it's great. And I really think it's going to be. Then, yeah, cyberpunk, dude.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Jesus. That impressed the hell out of me. And, like, I know that most of it was, like, CG stuff. That CG looked great. It looked like, we know it's a world that we want to see more of. But I'm like, this game looks like it could just be perfect. Yeah. And again, they put a date on it, right?
Starting point is 00:16:48 April 16th, 2020, and I know we're talking shit about 2020 games, more for like, but Xbox messaging of why you need to play on Xbox. For me, that's great. So far up until you're right, cyberpunk he's been. When it's ready, it'll be ready, like that kind of thing. Yeah. So to come out, have a great trailer that it's with Keanu Reeves being in the game and Keanu Reeves being out to announce the release day. So awesome. Love that he's in this.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Love that they brought him out. Love the way they did that. Love how much time they give him to just like be him to announce the release date and release date earlier than I expected. Yeah. I was really thinking May. Not that it's that far away from that. But April, hell yeah, man. I think that's a perfect time for that game to come out
Starting point is 00:17:23 and really flourish. That's around when Witcher 3 came out, right? Yeah, because that was May, I want to say. We took Witcher to Momokal on that once in. Do you think that hits the date? It doesn't get to push back. I think it hits it. I think that if they had said this year,
Starting point is 00:17:38 that it would have not hit it, but April, that's far. It came on in May for the Witcher. I definitely, honestly, do think cyberpunk slips. I do not think they hit April. I hope they do. I want to play it as soon as possible, but I just feel like they wouldn't even put a date on it. If they've been so about, hey, when it's ready, it's ready. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I just feel like they wouldn't. I don't know. I'll bet a pizza gets pushed. Okay. You saw it here, guys. I just can't put into words how excited I am for this game, how perfect. The whole vibe, I feel, I don't know if it's, uh, and now this wasn't gameplay, but the voice acting seems to get improved a bit.
Starting point is 00:18:12 I know that was like one of our major issues from the first couple trailers was like the main protagonist that we saw. he was in the first time we ever saw him that was like that sort of gameplay or no it was a CG but back then he was you know here in this city blah blah blah and here he you know the tone was perfect I feel like it just it looked awesome
Starting point is 00:18:32 Let's see I wonder though because with that like I feel like a lot of our criticism last time was with the abundance of swear words and they bleaked him out here so maybe he also one of the things coming out of that behind closed doors demo was how bad that one guy who was doing like a Hispanic thing, right? What was he saying?
Starting point is 00:18:49 He's like, uh, yeah. He's like, he's like, oh, he's like, whatever the fuck. I mean, it's the same guy. Like, that sounded like him, again, he just had, he was dying. Yeah. No, but the main protagonist,
Starting point is 00:19:03 when the first time we saw him, it was very much that prototypical, stereotypical here in this city, uh, rules are, there are no rules. And here, I just liked the tone of this whole trailer. It felt like you were in it, like, this was a sort of mid game mission and shit's going down and you've crossed the wrong people.
Starting point is 00:19:22 It just looks so dope, dude. Yeah, I thought that looked great. Interesting, it's the current gen still. Like, they're committing to this and like, I know that they had to, but it coming out in April, like, that's, it's not going to be a dual situation. Only 1X or PS4 Pro, not that. I mean, the last thing is like, I'm playing this on Xbox 1X for sure. Oh my God, for sure. Yeah, and Keanu Reeves, baby.
Starting point is 00:19:43 Hell yeah. I just couldn't believe that. I guess seeing his face kind of blew me away. And then the fact that he actually came out on stage was really badass. Yeah, I mean, like, that was the moment of this conference. And that's, yeah. The moment of this conference was for a third-party game that's going everywhere. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:57 It's like, you don't want that. If you're, and if you're, well, if you're anybody. Like, if we have to have all these different, if everything isn't everywhere, then you have to have a reason to be excited for every one of them. And on top of that, it's like, you know, cyberpunk looks great. Not taken away from that. But we know that game looks great. We've known that game looks great.
Starting point is 00:20:12 We gave it our game of the show, whatever, last year, like, in terms of excitement. And it's like, you know, people always criticize us, me specifically for like being excited for what's not there. But it's like there was no Capcom game. There was no third party like new thing that's like, holy shit, that's awesome, even if it is going everywhere. Right. Yeah. Like that the conference lacked that level of hype and excitement. Like when somebody had Resident Evil.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Exactly. Yeah. It's like where was that? And it doesn't need to be Capcom. It doesn't need to be one of the games I mentioned. Just like where is like the Dragon Ball thing? I don't think that was that. Right?
Starting point is 00:20:45 like fantasy star. Like that's awesome. That's cool. These are speaking to very specific fan bases. And that's great. Yeah. But the ridiculous amount of time, they focused on,
Starting point is 00:20:54 uh, the, um, Crossfire X. Right. For just a cinematic trailer and I have no idea what that game is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Um, all right. Continuing down, we got, uh, spirit fair. Yes. This was one of the world premieres coming to game past.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Of course, build, KR. Explore and learn how to say goodbye. By Thunder Lotus. Cool. A lot of that sounds dope. Thunder Lotus?
Starting point is 00:21:15 The Dev name? The game, you're like, man, I trust him. I'm in now. I want to get a beer with Thunder Lotus. I like the art style.
Starting point is 00:21:25 It seemed like a fun, whimsical game. Yeah, Joey was all about it, right? Like, yeah, you're building out your
Starting point is 00:21:29 little house and hugging a deer goodbye. All right, cool. Yeah. I will not play that. A lot of deer, man,
Starting point is 00:21:33 at this conference. Battle Toads was then shown. Gotta say they did their very best to get me excited. Did it work? Yeah. I mean, I'll give it.
Starting point is 00:21:44 shot. I've never been a big Battletoads guy. I didn't like the game. Back in the day. Yeah. She didn't like how it played. You weren't punk rock enough for Ballet's. I definitely was not. I was a rocker. Oh yeah? You loved Battletoads? Were you ready? I love Battletoads. Fuck yeah. But now, like, I'm not the type who ever
Starting point is 00:21:59 beat it or anything, but trust me, I rented it like over five times. But I thought it looked really good. I said this during the watchalong, but I really am sick of the kind of like flash animation style that like just makes games look really cheap. Because back in the day, like with Alien Hominade and shit, it was like, whoa, this looks so dope and cool.
Starting point is 00:22:19 Now it's like, all right, guys, you got to step it up, especially when we have things like Ori that looked that beautifully animated. And Spirit Fire had the same thing where it's like I loved the hand-drawn animation going on. Like, there was love and care put into that and it didn't look just like a quick copy and paste. And Battletoads was the same way, which surprises me. Because that feels like the type of game that they would just be like, just put it out. Just get it out there. Yeah. And then RPG time at the Legend of Wright.
Starting point is 00:22:43 What the fuck was this game? Why was that at a Microsoft conference, man? That's weird. Trying to put out games, right? Put that in the montage. Like, that's a montage game. Yeah, 100%. It's either a montage game or, yeah, you sit there and you play it and you explain it.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Because what you said that, like, what are we doing here? What is this game? Am I, yeah, it looked like you're making moves with the pens and the erasers and stuff. Yeah, exactly. And I don't understand what the moment to moment game is slash was. And then we were into, yeah, the ID at Xbox indie indie montage. These are all games that are coming to games. game past day and date. I did not get them all
Starting point is 00:23:15 because it was all going. I think I saw some stuff. A lot of awesome games though. I mean just a lot of visually appealing stuff. Sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They have, they started with Dead State Drive, which I'm pretty sure is a name change for a game I've seen before, which I've talked about before, which is where you're thinking overland. Am I?
Starting point is 00:23:31 Maybe. Is that the, are you saying I'm thinking of the same game? I think you're thinking overland, but I don't, does it look like this game? Yeah, is that not it though? No. Oh, really? So that's just, oh, that's bad for both of them. Yeah. Okay, then. Very, very, like... There's no perspective.
Starting point is 00:23:47 It's very like orthographic view. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right. Different games. You're right. Then they should creature in the while. Star Renegade. After party, tabs, the good life. Chris Code is what I wrote.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Supermarket Shriek. But there was games in there I missed. And again, I'm not trying to talk shit and say we're better. This is why we don't do the montages this way. This is a terrible way to present these games. It's back to... At least they showed the names. It's back to...
Starting point is 00:24:12 Do that all time. Why, except that one PlayStation conference. They, uh, this is, I don't understand how the industry hasn't adopted more of what we did in December. I mean, you don't do VO over them, but little bugs that pop up with developer names and who they are in like a genre of the game. Because yeah, that's a terrible way to present all those games. Now, granted, I know part of this is, hey, journalists, you're going to get to go to the Xbox arcade or whatever at E3 and be able to play some of the stuff. But yeah. Um, again, I was a little upset with the, the omission of a couple things last night.
Starting point is 00:24:43 very excited about that. Where is it? It's been years now. Cuphead DLC announced last year, not here. In this end-2020, 2020 for everything. Even around it. But it's like, this just feels like such a lame follow-up to last year's conference where I feel like there's so many questions I still don't have answered. And even talk about Indies.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Well, that's the Indy way. Don't believe any of these goddamn release dates you see the showcase on Monday. Last year's was John Wick 1 and we won a John Wick 2 this year. And instead we got. fucking what's the shitty Tom Cruise one Jack Reacher
Starting point is 00:25:20 I know everybody liked part one I'm talking about Jack Reacher All right then they announced a bunch of games fast games We got today Sarah Bon came out Did the whole game pass thing Gave the spiel Game Pass Ultimate cool great I feel like that's the focus they need to have
Starting point is 00:25:30 Is one place to get all the $15 stuff Yeah Batman Arkham Knight Metro Exodus hollow night Borderlands the handsome collection all on Xbox game pass today Metro exit is cool
Starting point is 00:25:40 That was a really really sort of shocking surprise. I was not expecting a game that new and that big, right? Yeah. To come to Games Pass. Today, right? Yeah. That's it today. That's crazy. But again, Game Pass is like, I know that it's hard to judge these things against our expectations,
Starting point is 00:25:57 but all right, games past did not evolve today. Right? You added a different name on it and it's coming to PC. We already knew that from a couple days ago. You get the ultimate thing now too. Yeah, but it's like, all right, there's nowhere else that's going. There's like no new, like it's coming to Switch. I it's lofty, but just the way that they talked about it's like, I just feel like there's a lack of new information. This felt more like a commercial than than previous conferences. That's what I was going to say. I wanted to just, at the top and then we're getting into it,
Starting point is 00:26:24 and I almost cut you off in the very, very beginning is that I know there's been so much scuttle butt in the Twitter sphere this week with Jason and Imram and a whole bunch of different journals and people having their take. And then fans and developers and personalities, you know, stepping up and arguing back and forth and maybe just hard conversating not arguing but they're being this conversation of like e3 is a commercial why do you care about things getting spoiled back and forth back forth this Xbox conference is i think what they're thinking of and what most people are probably thinking of when they think of e3 as a commercial this was a commercial in the way of this to me was not with the exception of keanu reeves opening the president on christmas morning
Starting point is 00:27:02 and being blown away at what it is right like that's what you want out of e3 conference we talk about year of dreams right where every trailer you're like holy shit how is this happening? This was a very much like, let me tell you about the services you can subscribe to today at a discounted rate that'll be great later on too.
Starting point is 00:27:17 And here's our conference we'll tell you about next time around. Exactly, yeah, and there's, and they're like... She even said it and because it's E3, you get it for one dollar, yeah. And there's, don't be wrong, that's still fun to watch.
Starting point is 00:27:27 It's just not nearly as fun. It's like, hey, this feels like a cool event when it doesn't just feel like, hey, this is a corporate commercial. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You don't skip Xbox,
Starting point is 00:27:36 and pass for PC, of course. Today they're adding Emperor Emperor. Emperor. Not Emperor Rome. Empator Rom. With some crap like that. Football manager
Starting point is 00:27:44 2019 and Master Chief Collection. Open Betas today. It's weird. It was soccer that they were playing. 10 bucks on PC. I know. They call it football manager. It is.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Wait. It would a fact check that one. And then yeah, Xbox GamePass Ultimate gives you console, Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Live Gold and console, or I'm sorry, PC Xbox game pass for 1499 a month, but it's just a buck today.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Then the big world premiere. Microsoft Flight Simulator. Micro. Yeah. Game Pass Windows PCB. That's totally like their fucking like a Forsa thing. Hey, play this on a big, beautiful screen.
Starting point is 00:28:16 It's going to look gorgeous. Again, I'm still going to download it on Xbox and screw around it for a night. I mean, that's the power of GamePass though, right? Yeah, totally. You can do that. Like, with these high-quality games that they're putting out. But it is just weird, the amount of focus they put on Microsoft
Starting point is 00:28:31 like... God bless them. God bless them, I say. Then, Age of Empires 2, definitive edition. Great. I'm sure people are excited about that. Wasteland 3. Craig Miller
Starting point is 00:28:44 hates it. That's on that. Game pass. I have none. Like, again, Wasteland 2, I didn't like. I thought it was a bad trailer for Wasteland
Starting point is 00:28:50 with Fing. You know, I didn't think. As somebody who tinkered with Wasteland 2, was like, ah, not for me. That definitely didn't make it look any. And even if, before we even knew it was Wasteland 3, I was like, this is a bad trailer.
Starting point is 00:28:59 I'm not interested in what you're doing here. Then Double Fine announced to be a new Microsoft Game Studio. Yeah. Pretty big. Awesome. Tim Schaefer, he was funny. He's great.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Psychonauts 2. New trailer. Still no release date. Yeah. Because we've talked as long as we have, I can confirm that I've seen Psychonauts 2, played in front of me at Judges Week. And it looks real cool.
Starting point is 00:29:19 That was one of the reasons. I don't know if you saw me tweet about it over the weekend that I'm trying to, I'm, I'm, I started Psychonauts 1. Oh, that's right. I want to play through that and Ramos a Room before I get to Psychonauts 2, even though there's no release date. Because Psychonauts 2 looked cool. Like the platforming looked fun.
Starting point is 00:29:32 It looked like, you know, Tim, we always talk about it with like a crash in other games, right, Like, yeah, exactly. It still has that vibe to it, right? But it is in fact, like, hey, this is a great game or great. You know, it's going to be fun to play in a modern time. Yeah. They double fun confirmed that Psychonauts 2 is still coming to every platform.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Great. So it'll be like their next games. Yes. Yeah. Hmm. Then after that, we got Lego Star Wars, the Skywalker saga 2020. Cool. Cool.
Starting point is 00:30:04 I just feel like that's another example of like, you need to understand your audience. and starting a trailer with a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, there's expectations there. And then when it's Lego, it kind of is like a, I feel like that's on Xbox and more on WB though
Starting point is 00:30:18 for, you know, WB showing up and that's all they had to show. Oh, that's it. How we still not get rock steady, man? How do we still not get WB Montreal? It's weird. I mean, we can sit here and be like, how do we still like this and that and a few other things?
Starting point is 00:30:31 And the answer is pretty clear, right? And again, I know this does nothing for my online impression of people who hate me. They're scared. It's what PlayStation saw. They looked at the landscape and they're like, wow, okay. Yeah, we're about to transition to a new console. No real reason to do this.
Starting point is 00:30:45 No real reason to come out and get dragged through the coals. Like we're dragging Microsoft through the coals right now. Yeah. It's cool that it's a new game though. Like going through all the Star Wars stuff. Was there a Last Jedi Lego game? There was so... The Force Awakens.
Starting point is 00:31:01 The Force Awakens is what I'm thinking of. Yeah. So it's cool that they're also following it up with like Last Jedi now and then the new one. All right, Kevin, we don't need that here now. And Dragon Ball, Kakarot? Yeah, Kakarot. That's what he calls Goku.
Starting point is 00:31:16 That's his actual name. That's his actual name. It's kind of like Cal L. Right? Got it. Yeah. We had previously heard about this game, action RPG. Very ambitious project they were talking about.
Starting point is 00:31:27 What did that do for Kevin and Andy? I'm stoked, man. I think it's pretty cool. I'm kind of playing through a lot of the series and like, but with the sort of current aesthetics, of Xenovers where I feel like now they have a better grasp
Starting point is 00:31:41 as to what a Dragon Ball Z game should be not that I've like play a whole lot of Dragon Ball Z games but I feel like the ones in the past have been lacking you know I played like the PS2 and maybe some PS3 ones but like they're fine
Starting point is 00:31:56 they are lacking like they're never as fun as I want them to be and like it'd be really cool if we got a better designed game I just feel like they know what they're doing now with like they saw how everybody reacted to Xenovirce, how can we sort of
Starting point is 00:32:09 translate that into a single player action RPG? I'm hype. Yeah. Then after Dragon Ball we saw 12 minutes from Annapurna. Fucking awesome. Awesome. I can't wait to play this game, dude. Yeah, me too. Again, if you didn't, if you weren't watching us live on YouTube.com slash kind of funny games,
Starting point is 00:32:25 there is a 12 minutes let's play. And you might be, oh my gosh, they were so timely. No, we recorded it in 2015 because I saw the game at what I don't remember. I'd have to watch let's play and see the introduction we did to the developer, but I remember running into them or seeing the game we're getting it done with somewhere thinking it was awesome and bringing it back and playing a very early version of it and it's awesome to see how far it's come it's awesome to see an affirmative behind it
Starting point is 00:32:45 it is on their main page now right because obviously xbox is talking about it being a world premiere on the official page right now says we are planning to release the game in early 2020 on xbox and pc that's awesome yeah that'll be one for sure i'll play on uh Xbox and then uh way to the woods coming to games past oh the deer deer deer deer game one of the deer games one of the many deer deer deers are in right now yeah so he's huge. I mean, yeah, just the background of KFAF. Well, it's not there anymore. Those are the two deer.

Upstart.com slash kind of funny. Thank you very much. Now back to it. Gears 5. Before you do that, I do want to clarify something. Well, not even clarify. Add more mystery to it. The official press release from Annapurna says that 12 minutes will be releasing on PC and console in 2020, even though the website said PC and Xbox. So maybe there is still hope for a place to
Starting point is 00:37:02 soon rather than later. Also, Riverbond, which got shown there, is out today. I don't remember them saying, I think it might have just been in a montage. Turns out that game's out today. Another dungeon crawler. Gears 5. I've never cared about the Gears franchise, so this doesn't really do anything for me. I didn't like the whole face.
Starting point is 00:37:23 I can't believe how bad this presentation was for Gears 5. Overall. The start of the, dude. 10 minutes where, like, cool, the escape mode looks cool, but show us gameplay. The cinematic they did for that was way too long. We get it. And the Billy Ilish thing was just like, what are you guys doing? This game is out in months.
Starting point is 00:37:40 And this is what you show for this? Yeah. Then going into the, even the Gears Funko stuff, it's like, what are you guys doing? Like everyone talks about Microsoft where they're just like, oh, it's just Halo and Gears. If that's true, that's what you show for gears. I don't know, man. This ain't it, chief. I also just don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:59 I also don't think that showing us what this escape. mode would have looks like in gameplay mode. I don't know if that would have done anything for us either. I agree, but at least put some gameplay in the trailer. Sure.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Correct me if I'm wrong. We haven't seen Gears 5 gameplay, right? I don't believe so. I'm not. And we still haven't. Well, hold on now. Hold on, hold on, hold on. I hear you and I'm not saying this fixes it,
Starting point is 00:38:23 but remember they showed Austin, AJ, and somebody else from the WDB, I don't remember. And they said they were going to play it afterwards. I think they might be streaming it right now in terms of like, in terms of, like, in terms of you were interested in the idea.
Starting point is 00:38:34 I'm not saying it fixes anything. Just that like if we're talking about like not having seen it. The chat saying we have seen it. Oh, okay. That escape, uh, CG trailer just took way too long. It didn't not need to be that long. Like we get it.
Starting point is 00:38:48 Violence and bloters coming out of these guys. And on top of that, there was the excessive extra camera going into the stage, which is cool. But like that needs to have a reveal. It can't just end with a CG trailer. Oh, right. We had, yeah,
Starting point is 00:38:59 we had it last year. Right. We had Gears 5 gameplay last year. Yeah. I thought so right. because I remember I thought it was Rahul when I heard the voice. I still think it might be.
Starting point is 00:39:06 That's right. He's a liar. See, that's my thing is like, we're not fun house. It's not a good. So it's like all of a sudden does blend together. But I just feel like they just spent a long time not showing much with this. Which would have been fine if there was a bunch of other announcements surrounding it.
Starting point is 00:39:21 There were like new IP or this or this, but no, it's just, oh, it's more gears. I mean, there's a chance that Billy Eilisting did stuff for Gears fans who understand the lore and understand all these characters popping out of the shoulder, whatever that was that was. But even if it did,
Starting point is 00:39:34 it's like that felt like it was two and a half minutes. Yeah, it dragged on really long, yeah. Yeah. It was kind of uncomfortable. I don't like this. You can get it four days early with GamePass Ultimate. The Escape Mode 3 player co-opting was shown off. Terminator.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Launch. If you play during the launch week or pre-order, you get the Terminator character back. Cool. I'm going to turn it on for sure. Again, when I play gears, I don't know. Maybe this is the one that clicks. Maybe we do some party modes and does.
Starting point is 00:40:00 I'm for sure down. And when it's like that day, I'm like, oh shit. Getting to Get Terminator. Yeah, I want to get that Terminator character pack. Yeah. Run around as a T. I remember playing Gears 4 though and being like, oh, this is the one that's going to get me into the franchise.
Starting point is 00:40:11 No, I just never did. I mean, I remember playing all the way through two with Levi-B Canada and IGN. It was just like, all right, this is something we did, but I didn't like love this. Yeah. That's just me. Multipler stuff should be fun for party movement. The chat seems to be saying, like, the next KG says, trust that did nothing for Gears fans.
Starting point is 00:40:27 And like most people seem to be saying that. Coeings says it made sense to us fans. making sense in being enjoyable, different things. Yeah. The elite series two controller. Shown off. Fuck yeah. Great for people that might really care on that granular level of the controller.
Starting point is 00:40:43 I'm fine with the elite controller I have. The bigger issue I have with the elite controllers is I feel like it should have Xbox ID. Like being able to customize and do all that with the colors and stuff. Yeah. You mean go to the controller lab? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Design lab. Yeah. 100%. Is it not called ID? No. No. That's Nike. Nike ID.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's that? ID and Xbox, which is a different thing. Yeah, so whatever.
Starting point is 00:41:04 It's got 40 hours in a charge. It's Bluetooth. It can have three profiles, shorter trigger locks, adjustable thumbstick, tension. Yeah. Andy's going to be using it. Tension looks dope. Really excited about that.
Starting point is 00:41:15 But again, here's the thing. I mostly play my stuff on PlayStation 4. You know? Trophies. Dying Light 2. Spring 2020. Not Troy Baker is the protagonist. It didn't sound like Roger Craig Smith either. That's the thing.
Starting point is 00:41:27 And I know Roger, obviously, the voice is of number one. People are saying Matt Moore, sir. I think people might just be saying names they know at this point Well no Mercer would make sense right Because Mercer replaced Troy as Conjy in
Starting point is 00:41:39 Not persona Golden, right? In persona the fighting game No, no, the dancing game Oh, maybe cute I don't know. Chat, you know better than me. Yeah, it's kind of weird Like looking at the rest of the show from here
Starting point is 00:41:51 It's like, oh wow, they really decided to line up this way. Here's some games. Dying Light 2, Spring 2020 and then Forts the Horizon with the Lego Speed Champions expansion this week. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Again, you're a force of fan? Great. You're a State of Decay fan or what you said. Here's the thing is like, if you're a Forza fan, is it great? Like this seems like a weird collaboration, right? Like more content, sure, but it's like, I don't know that the Forza fans are screaming for Lego. I don't think they're a scream, but I think they're definitely going to hop in and play it. I think they will absolutely be there, yeah. I'm excited to see how State of the K2 has come along.
Starting point is 00:42:21 So this Heartland, DLC, new story, two different paths. It's on Xboxing a pass today. I'm going to jump in tonight when I get home, probably, if I'm not exhausted. Yeah, Krona Land says it's like the, Hot Wheels expansion. It was awesome. It's cool to get new things in the games that you already love and enjoy. Yeah, absolutely. But I do feel like Hot Wheels
Starting point is 00:42:37 like Hot Wheels lends itself more to a racing game than Legos. I think it'll just be really cool to see Lego pieces like that in the beautiful environment of Forza. Like with the lighting that they use, like that game is gorgeous. I think it's going to be super interesting. I guess I just think it's weird that they spent as long as they did
Starting point is 00:42:56 on something that is just a small expansion. Sure, yeah. We didn't need to have a Lego car out there. Gears pop, pre-order soon on mobile devices. Don't give a shit. State of K2, Heartland out today. Fantasy Star Online, too,
Starting point is 00:43:09 spring 2020. I'm sure there's a large amount of people that are very excited about that. That's a big get for Xbox. Then Smilegate was announced as a big deal. Smilegate. Yeah, that was the developer, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:24 What else are they left on? I've never heard of them. I know. It feels like, I talk to this guy. But like, they gave a big reveal for it. It's like he was in the middle of the crowd. He was just like, we've been talking since 2017 and blah blah, blah. And it's just like, then they say
Starting point is 00:43:35 it, we're all just kind of like, and I get we don't know that side of things, but like again. But what side of things is that even? Like I don't... P.C. M. M.O. side. Right. I got it. I imagine. But then do we see this trailer? It's like, okay, okay, cool. I guess. Enjoy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:51 I mean, if that, yeah. A lot of soldiers doing that. Yeah, like Boers and Zero underwater says Crossfire is a huge game in China. Awesome. I would love to see in gameplay and knowing what that game is. Yeah. I feel they didn't want to show the gameplay. Then we got Tales of a Rise, 2020.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Looks really pretty. Gorgeous, dude. I'm happy that those type of JRP's are still existing and, like, growing forward a bit. Like, because I feel like they kind of got stuck in a rut for a while of, like, very much looking like last-gen games. This looks like a next-gen game. Art style is very, very cool. SSBats has 1-80 for the elite controller. Yikes.
Starting point is 00:44:27 I mean, they're always that expensive. of? Borderlands 3. Sure. Got another trailer. If you're either in, you're out, it's more interesting that,
Starting point is 00:44:38 yeah, the rumored DLC for Borderlands 2 that ties into Borderlands 3 is in fact true. Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary. They announced it there. I have a press release here
Starting point is 00:44:48 with a little bit more information. Now. Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary is a brand new downloadable campaign expansion for Borderlands 2, the award-winning shooter, Luter from 2012. That brings players back to the wild
Starting point is 00:44:59 of Pandora for brand new adventure that sets the stage for Borderlands 3 launching on September 13th. You can download this DLC for free. I'm sorry, Borderless 2 in the Borderlands Handsome Collection product owners will be able to download this DLC for free until July 8th at midnight. And then it'll be available for $16 or $15, or $15 starting July 9th. If you don't own the Borderlands, if you don't own brands to, the Borderlands Handsman collection is available, I think, on PlayStation Plus and now game pass. I wonder if this thing does that, like what Destiny does where it levels you up to that point. If you still, if you haven't played Borderlands 2 to completion, don't worry,
Starting point is 00:45:33 you'll still be able to jump right in and enjoy the story expansion. While veteran players can pursue the new level cap of 80s, newcomers will be able to create a brand new level 30 vault hunter and select at the character select screen and dive straight in the action. That's actually awesome. You were right there for me. Dude, that's what we, they call them number one games journalist, number one Andy Lover. You know what I mean? That's why we're here to support each other. Then we got Eldon Ring, the Dark Souls, George R. Martin game. God, I wanted to see gameplay so badly. I wanted to see gameplay,
Starting point is 00:46:02 but also, Greg, earlier you were saying, like, why would you guys be excited about this? I'm excited about it because George R. Martin. So, like, story-wise, and, like, I wanted to see what the aesthetic look like. It's also interesting because I again, I don't play Souls games, but holy shit, I watch a lot of Souls games, let's play.
Starting point is 00:46:18 It's like... Oh, yeah? Like, back of the day, like, Game Grumps playing through, like, Dark Souls 2, I believe, and then Bloodbourne. Like, I am super into watching that sort of content, not necessarily playing it. Even when Sekiro came out, I watched a bunch of game groups play that.
Starting point is 00:46:36 So, that's why I was really excited for this game. And the fact that we only saw sort of like mythical guy with 14 elbows, right, Kev? Yeah. He's not even there. Oh, he is. Cool. So many elbows! Yeah, but see, like, that aesthetic to me, I was just like, I know that's what I should have expected,
Starting point is 00:46:51 but I got really, really, really excited when we saw Bandai Namco come up, when we started seeing the world of Tales of Arise, and I was like, holy shit, is this the... Oh, yeah. Because if it was that look with this story of the kingdoms and all that, I'm like, I'd get behind that, right? Seeing this, I'm like, it's more soul-type stuff. As soon as they said it was him working with from soccer.
Starting point is 00:47:08 A lot of people, and I'm like, it's not for me. But again, I'd want to see gameplay, and maybe it is a bit more Metroidvania-esque in 3D with a very cool story. And that could get me. But will it? It won't. But I still think, like, it's cool as shit that George Harrodin is consulting. or helping out with the game. I think that's really awesome
Starting point is 00:47:31 and a huge get for them. And then Project XCloud. First hands on this week, console streaming this October. You can use your console as a dedicated server to be able to play anywhere or whatever you're doing.
Starting point is 00:47:44 I was flabbergasted. That was the answer. That was how overwhelming that whole segment was, especially given the fact that Google is a player. They just did a press conference a couple days ago.
Starting point is 00:47:55 And we kind of expect like, oh, Microsoft's going to come in. They have all this infrastructure. They have the games. They have it. It's like they didn't, they didn't say anything that we didn't know, man.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Yeah. Just the date, right? And even then, it's like, all right. It's just weird. Am I wrong? Like how overwhelmed
Starting point is 00:48:08 I am about that? No, you know that I, I think at the office, for sure, I would say probably, I'm the biggest proponent of this. Like, this is the future I want, this streaming future.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Google, you know, like, we haven't actually been on camera together since the project. What do they call? Stadium. Stadium. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:48:25 I'm still so lost in the project. Since the stadia, a live stream, right? And when I read about it and watched the thing when you and you guys reacting, talking about my hard dick, thanks for that, Andy. You know, the first thing I did is I went and bought it. Like, I went and bought the founders pack. I was like, cool.
Starting point is 00:48:38 This, I don't know if it's, I don't think it'll be perfect out of the gate. I don't know how much I'll use it. It seems awesome. I'm all in. Yeah. Like this, this was like a, like, like, cool. It's the first hands on the show. Great.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Can't wait to see what Fran and Stone Mike think of it. And then console streaming, yeah, using it as a server. I was like, I'm not even 100% sure what you mean by that. And I'm an idiot, of course, so I don't know. But then it's coming in October. I'm like, okay, cool, in October. I'll try it out, I guess. But is that the whole run?
Starting point is 00:49:06 And is it how? Is there an app and what's going? Like I, I, you either needed to say a lot about it, I feel, because your, your debut video about it was so good. Everybody's talking about it. And I use my phone. Oh, my son wants to play in the Xbox.
Starting point is 00:49:16 And he plays the Xbox and I put my phone or my, you know, a tablet to the control and you're ready to go. That was just like, okay, I guess, hopefully I'll wait for hands-ons from the thing. And if there's more explanation about it and then go from there. But, outside of that. I'm not jazzed. I'm not in any more jazz than I was before.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Maybe even less because I think Google had a better presentation for what they're doing. We've been talking about this for so long now on Games Daily and everything. And it's like something I keep bringing up is like they needed to make it very clear and understandable to people that don't know what the cloud is,
Starting point is 00:49:44 what the service is, what it's going to cost, what's going to look like. I think it's confusing enough and then bringing up the fact that, yes, you can use your Xbox 1X or whatever at home as a home server. Throwing that to the casual fan
Starting point is 00:49:56 that doesn't even know like what a server is. I thought it was like such a bad. I don't know. Casual. I don't understand what you. I have right here, uh, the official Xbox press release. I haven't read it.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Can I just read through it? I got four, three graphs about bringing Xbox to the cloud. In addition to delivering players, the games they want with the people they want across console and PC. Xbox is also empowering people to play wherever they want by bringing Xbox to the cloud. First, Xbox announced the ability to stream games from your Xbox one console, starting in preview this October.
Starting point is 00:50:23 With console streaming, gamers have the, will have the access to their, Xbox 1 game library and game pass titles on the go stream directly from an Xbox 1 console to a mobile device. The Xbox E3 briefing also marked the new milestone for Project Xclad. With the E3 2019, attendees being among the first in the world to play Xbox one games like Halo 5 Guardians and Hellblade, Senuous sacrifice streaming on smartphones and tablets. With Project XCloud, Xbox is investing to ensure players have the choice and freedom to play the games they want with the friends they want, how and where they want.
Starting point is 00:50:54 So the home streaming thing is just remote play, right? But it'll work. Huh? But it'll work. Romo play works. I know a lot of people who... It'll work well. Will it?
Starting point is 00:51:05 I mean, that sounds exactly... Where's the Azure server? I mean, that's what I was excited about, right? Well, I think that connects to it. Like, I'd imagine it's all connected. And they were saying that it's like... She did say hybrid. ...dicated or the thing.
Starting point is 00:51:16 I think they're going to work together in tandem to actually have it function. To stream it to my phone? Mm-hmm. So I'm streaming the Azure... stuff to my Xbox to my phone. I don't think like 2-2-2. I think it's like together. Yeah, I don't, they've confused me now with their strategy.
Starting point is 00:51:33 I don't understand what they're saying. I was excited when it was an Azure Xbox one service going right to my phone. Yeah. Because guess what? That's different than a remote play. If it now is the Azure server going to my Xbox going to my phone, that's the exact same thing. I don't think it's both going to your phone.
Starting point is 00:51:48 Individually or at the same time. What are you talking about? I don't understand. I think it's a hybrid of them working together of like your dedicated system. its powers all going to it, but also you get in backup shit from the cloud. Okay. Yeah, because they did, she did mention, like, hybrid as if they are working, uh, like a, like, you know, like a co-op mission, Greg.
Starting point is 00:52:07 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus, man. And then they announced, well, they didn't announce. They didn't announce. They didn't announce shit, but they talked about the next gen console. And it's like, they said that like, there was going to be next gen stuff at this conference. And there was, man.
Starting point is 00:52:21 They said, fuck load times. They got a custom design process. processor from AMD, four times more powerful on the Xbox 1X, sometimes 120 frames per second. 8K, they got an SSD. They're using it as virtual RAM sometimes. It gets me fucking excited. They got 40 times plus the performance increases. It's Project Scarlet's coming holiday 2020.
Starting point is 00:52:41 The most exciting thing is holiday 2020. It's confirmed. We now know what next gen. When the next gen really begins. Yeah, when it's coming. But still called Project Scarlet. I just feel like this is such a sidestep. It's like it's weird.
Starting point is 00:52:55 It's almost as if this conference didn't happen. We would be like, we know just as much when it comes to next genital cloud. We're still getting, yeah, we're still getting these new, these new Xbox One models. They're going to be more powerful. We saw the Sony leak,
Starting point is 00:53:10 so clearly there's going to be a big cut down on load times. Yeah, it's, I just feel like when they said winter, my immediate reaction was like, that's a year and a half away. Oh my God. I thought it'd be a lot sooner than that. And also,
Starting point is 00:53:23 I still get that feeling of when they're talking about these processors and we're using the state of the art shit my immediate thought I was like well you still have a year and a half until it comes out like you know this is just going to continue to feel like you know the PC people out there like hey are we always have the latest shit we always have yeah processors I just feel like it's too far away to even announce something like that it's like in their stadia which is like the other side of it where they're kind of like there is no hardware that we're committing to it is tech that's in the cloud that's always going to be able to to advance and
Starting point is 00:53:54 change, right? Yeah. It's like Intel saying we have the 10th generation or 11th generation chip set coming out winter 2020. And it's like, well, that's still really fucking far away. Sure. I don't know. I just don't understand that strategy. And then Halo Infinite. And then Halo Infinite. You know, there's...
Starting point is 00:54:13 Like I said this earlier, but it's like you play Halo music and stuff. You show me chief. Like, I'm going to be like, all right, let's go. But it's like, I cannot believe we didn't get real gameplay of it. Like, seeing it, like, at least a demo, like at least five minutes of showing what this world looks like and showing what next gen can do. Because right now it's just like great. Even if that was an engine, it didn't look mind blowing to me, right?
Starting point is 00:54:38 It looks like Gears 5. And it's like, all right, fine. I think it looked like cyberpunk. Like when they showed us the cyberpunk, the actual gameplay trailer, that's what this looked like to me. There wasn't a whole lot. But I'm sure in the back end, there's tons of crazy particles and things that we're just not, that aren't really noticeable to the human.
Starting point is 00:54:54 but I don't know. Yeah, I wasn't super blown away by it, but they hit that music cue. Yeah, that was like, oh, dog-a-dog. I'm in. Yeah, I just, like, I can't believe that's all they showed of Halo Infinite. We don't know what the game is. I thought he was going to walk out into that bright room and then... I was hoping he's going to kill him.
Starting point is 00:55:11 I thought when he came out of stasis or whatever, he's not going to be chief. Got it. Something bad happens. I'm glad they didn't do that because I was like, I don't need, you know. Just give me a reimagining. Yeah, you glad nothing fucking happened. Ritana's not there. That's all we know.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Yeah. Yeah, that was sad. I don't feel like we really needed gameplay. Like I haven't played Halo, like a mainline Halo since 3 and really been in it. So this was like enough to like bring me like, oh, like I'm interested to see what we have here and what this does for the future of it. Like I again, this game is a year and a half out. Like I don't feel like we need to see gameplay yet. See, I totally disagree because it's like with years.
Starting point is 00:55:48 With years in Halo, it's like we saw that last year. It's like we saw that last year. And more than that, it's like we didn't. Halo has never taken a break. We saw more like interesting looking Halo stuff last year than this. I don't believe that's true at all. We saw like three minutes of like actually seeing the war hog and like seeing stuff going on and like seeing what the world looks like. You saw 20 seconds of a warthog driving.
Starting point is 00:56:07 It was like teasers of environments. Like you barely knew it was a Halo Infinite game like until like second half. I watched that trailer like yesterday. It still looks closer to gameplay than this thing. To me that's exciting. That's like oh, Halo's looking a little bit different. Like there's animals. There's wildlife.
Starting point is 00:56:21 This is like this might as well have been Halo 5 again. And it's like, we just got Halo 5, not long ago. It's like, Halo has not taken a long enough break to show this and have me be like, this is the reboot. This is the god of war of Halo, you know? And it's like, I feel like at least showing gameplay and show like, look, this is going to be different than just, it's more Halo. Gotcha. But I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Yeah, I was kind of underwhelmed. And then we thought the trailer was over. And then they went back into it. And then we hear like Cortana talking. But still, I was like, oh, oh, it is over now. cool. I wish. Yeah, it was just really underwhelming, man. The music cues get me jacked
Starting point is 00:57:00 up every time. Yeah, Kutana and all that's like, that's cool. It's great. And like this seems like it's going to be more of a Master Sheep story, which is something that I'd prefer than what we got with the lock stuff in Halo 5. Anyway, any closing thoughts? Again, I feel like we're
Starting point is 00:57:17 being negative. I think it was a good conference. I think they had a lot of good games. It's just like, this wasn't the year to be good. This was the year. to fucking we own E3. We are Xbox. This is why this needs to happen.
Starting point is 00:57:29 And it didn't happen. And we can sit there and be like, oh, what the fuck? It's like, okay, cool. Maybe the industry just isn't in that place.
Starting point is 00:57:36 And that's why PlayStation backed off. And it's why, even if you want to take out the Xbox PlayStation race, right, why EA's conference was so different. It wasn't a conference, right?
Starting point is 00:57:44 It was E.A. play. It was something totally weird of just like, oh, it's just show games. It's going to be six games or show gameplay. And it's going to be games
Starting point is 00:57:51 you already know about, too. Maybe as we, we are just on that cusp right now of next generation, which means people are batting down the hatches and working on other projects, which means there's less meat, less steak to go around this year, right? So you have to sit here and eat these vegetables. I just think it's weird that this analogy doing it. I feel like every year we go in, it's like, well, Xbox, they've been quiet, but they're
Starting point is 00:58:12 going to show something. And it's like this was, we're now, I'd say, four years into that. And this is what we get. No new IP of consequence, right? more gears, more Halo that just feel like more gears, more Halo, more Forza, and what,
Starting point is 00:58:29 are we waiting for next year? When all the IP, all the first party people are going to be, oh, now here's our games. Yeah. Yeah? All right. Then we'll wait for the year after that.
Starting point is 00:58:38 Exactly. Yeah. It's like, you know, I don't know. It's when it comes to, it's about the games at the end of the day. And I'm going to play my third party games on Xbox because right now they're doing better. And cyberpunk can't wait to play that there.
Starting point is 00:58:49 But in terms of first party titles, like there's nothing to compare with what PlayStation has, right? To end on a happier note, just to make you smile a little bit. Do you want to know what Keanu Reeves' character in cyberpunk is called? Do you want to know, Tim?
Starting point is 00:59:06 Yeah, I'm trying to make you happy. John... It's actually John's... I'm not going to tell you that's right or wrong. I'm going to let you guess. John Wick 2.0. Accompanying the release date and pre-order news is a cinematic trailer,
Starting point is 00:59:17 which offers a deeper look into the game's story. The trailer who reveals one of the key characters of cyberpunk 2077 Johnny Silverhand The legendary Rocker Boy is played by Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves the Matrix trilogy John Wick's series Johnny Monomonic
Starting point is 00:59:34 In addition to his appearance in voice Reeves is also providing full body motion capture for the character Could CD Project Red have gotten any actor right now that's more visible and kind of more of this sensation There's nobody dude like
Starting point is 00:59:50 They nailed it. With this whole Netflix cameo he had in Always Be My Maybe, just how huge John Wick is right now. There's nobody else they could have gotten. That is like this much of a household name. That's so awesome, dude. I can't fucking wait. There you go. Ladies and gentlemen, this has been our post-show analysis of Microsoft's E3 2019 conference.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Stay tuned later today. We're going to be doing a live pre-show, watch-along, and post-show for Bethesda's conference. Until then, stay sexy.
