Starting point is 00:00:00 We'll get into an episode of Klein Alley's show in just a moment. But in the meantime, let's tell you about our absolute favorite place on the planet. Yep, that would be San Bernardino International Airport, where you can go through the airport process without waiting in long lines and overpaying for parking. Quick connections to the Bay Area and the world plus ski and snowboard in Provo from San Bernardino all winter long. Every other airport, you're going to be in long TSA lines. You're going to be miserable. You're going to say, oh, I've got to get there two, three hours before my flight, not at San Bernardino International Airport.
Starting point is 00:00:26 And now we send you on a direct flight into our podcast, which starts right now. Okay, Rock, we are Klein Alley's show. If you need us, you can call 80052016. 1067. There's lots of ways to get involved. There's also a goat line for you. That number is 844-956 G0AT. You know, you guys made fun of the fact that I was talking about pumpkin inflation
Starting point is 00:00:42 and how everything's gotten really expensive, especially Halloween stuff. And then there's this call. You know, I've always talked about the prices of candy going up and the prices of Copa going up. It's so crazy to think that Klein was actually kind of right in predicting the candy shortage that it's happening. You might actually need to bring all. on the Halloween salad.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Salad night, baby. Salad, bag of salad's still cheap. I remember salad night. That was such a great moment. That's when my kids officially lost trust in me, and it's been downhill ever since. You know, I do think that we're going to see worst candy this time. I think that people are going to cheap out,
Starting point is 00:01:16 and they're going to do, even right down the hall, they have baskets that seemingly have candy in them, and I walk up, and it's all gummies and twislers. A lot of splendor packets. It's a lot of sour candy. Yeah, it is whack. Jake, I want chocolates. This is the thing. Let's be honest.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Average person goes to a store and they see, I've got to get, I don't know, I'm going to have a lot of trick or treater. So you go, I got to buy 100 pieces of candy or whatever. And you can look at it and go, do I care about most of these strange kids? They're just neighborhood kids. Some of them probably not even neighborhood kids. They're just neighborhood jumping, right? Neighborhood hopping, yeah, which I think is frowned upon. But you get judged.
Starting point is 00:01:52 You get judged. You totally get judged. No, no, no, no, no. Forever. That house is going to be known as the Raisin House or whatever it is. You don't do that, but I'm just saying, don't you think... Or the sweet-tart house, even worse. Sweet-Tarts.
Starting point is 00:02:04 I don't want to be sweet-tarded. We actually already are the sweet-tart. Oh, what? No, no, no. We don't get trick-or-treaters. But I do recall last year, actually the last two years in a row, the neighborhood that we trick-or-treat in. There's one house that gives away not candy. They give you coupons for a Wendy's Frosty.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Oh, that's interesting. You know what? It's a better thing long-term, but no kids are going to appreciate that in the moment. No. And do I use them? No, I don't. So it's cool in the moment where I'm like, wow, a whole frosty, but who cares? So I don't want to go to the frosty house.
Starting point is 00:02:36 It's a high-ticket item, but you can't eat that coupon. I mean, you could eat the coupon. It's a cop-out. Just hand people coupons? I had a neighbor that gave out coupons for a scoop of ice cream, but I didn't have a car. I didn't get to the place. Right. A coupon is just like, hey, I owe you something cool, but you do all the work.
Starting point is 00:02:52 But wouldn't you agree that most people, if given the choice of I can spend $10 on this bag of candy, that's all gummies and whenever else where I could spend $2,000, $20 on this mix that's going to have chocolates and stuff like that. Most people, the average person, especially as everyone's cutting back on, whatever they can cut back on, is going to go with just the cheaper, how can I get the most amount of candy? I literally look at the number on the bag now. I just go, oh, this bag is 180 pieces. This bag is 130.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Oh, I don't look at the piece count. I look at the actual, you know, what is it comprised of? I used to. And then I shifted. And I think that like 100 grand is one of the most underrated canty. You only see them around Halloween. It's a great candy bar. Evan loves 100 grand.
Starting point is 00:03:28 I even pick through and try to get the good. ones out before. If my kids bring back those, I always take them. Those are the best ones. And those are not, they never went mainstream. They never got popular. They never were a big font band, the 100 grand bar. They're punk rock. They are very punk rock. They've always been punk rock and I appreciate that about it. They're no commercial for 100 grand bars in TV. They're just kind of sitting there under the surface. They know their place and they're happy about it. But when people get them, that's like the grab, that's the thing you grab. All that other highly marketed stuff, Snickers and Hers. Those are skippers. Oh, I love a snickers.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Skippers. You know, I also think that Butterfinger has been kind of an underrated candy. I don't see it very often, but when I actually get one, I forget how good those things are. Heath bars, that's where it's at. I love me. These are all the outliers. See, all the ones we're mentioning right now are not the big five. They're all the outliers. And so you don't see them as much because even when you get those ratio bags, you know, it's all messed up the way they do the ratio.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But they'll do 90% of the kind of the mainstreams. And they give you just a few of the ones we're mentioned. Oh, it's like the Costco mentality. If you get those soda waters and stuff, they give you two good flavors and they give you a thousand of the crappiest flavor. Exactly. But you know who's ruined this is Haribo, the gummy bears.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Somehow they scoop their way in and now it's just all gummy bear culture. And I'm like, everyone already has fruit snacks and gummy bears in their house. They don't need to go to house to house to get those. But gummies cheaper to mass produce. I don't care about it. Even the best gummy bear of my life.
Starting point is 00:04:54 I'm like, eh. But you don't think Sour Patch kids are a great candy? What? I think they're fine, but a sour candy is a whatever to me. What about Skittles? Whatever. You can't say that.
Starting point is 00:05:07 I don't want to taste that rainbow. Get out of my face. Allie's homophil. It's unnatural. What are you guys' feelings on the tutsi rolls? Tootsie rolls, you know, it's funny because my family really loves Tutsi rolls and I think
Starting point is 00:05:21 they are rock hard and terrible. But Tutsi roll people... You're reading stale ones then. Those are disgusting old people Yeah, it's an old people. Yeah, I agree. Or, I'll tell you, you go to, like, a sushi restaurant that has, like, a little bowl of tutsy rolls by the... And they've been there for, like, seven years. Yeah, they've been there.
Starting point is 00:05:36 What about the starburst gamble? Oh, like, you don't know what flavor you're getting? Yeah, you can get double yellows, you can get double reds. Oh, yeah. That's terrible. Yeah, that's terrible. It's like walking to oncoming traffic. What about, Dahlia Ranchers?
Starting point is 00:05:47 It's the worst. You open up that. Oh, my God. Just open the yellows and step into track. The Starburst game. Everyone's over if I had gotten two pinks, my life would. No one never gets two pinks. I'll bet you...
Starting point is 00:06:01 I've gotten two pinks before. B.S. No one's ever got any. You never get a pink and a red. You always get like a, if it's a double, it's always a double yellow or a double orange. So what a letdown that is. Ruined Halloween. Now I'd rather have salad night.
Starting point is 00:06:14 At least that's not a gamble. That's true. I forgot how many times I've been screwed in my life by the old Starburst gamble. I'm out of bad mood. Yeah, yeah. Stop making those. You know, make those packages see-through,
Starting point is 00:06:24 so at least I know my depression before I open it up. Then no one would pick them. Every Halloween you've lost the Academy Award. There's the random yellow people who like it. Oh, man. Well, anyway, start loading up now. I bought my first big bag. I've already eaten half of it already,
Starting point is 00:06:38 so it's time to load up again. And remember, it's going to be more expensive this year. We call that pumpkin inflation. No one else does, but we do. And by we, I mean I, and I'm sticking with it. Only Klein. The offspring on the world thing is Carol Q.
