Starting point is 00:00:00 We'll get into an episode of Klein Alley Show in just a moment, but in the meantime, let's tell you about our absolute favorite place on the planet. Yep, that would be San Bernardino International Airport, where you can go through the airport process without waiting in long lines and overpaying for parking. Quick connections to the Bay Area and the world, plus ski and snowboard in Provo from San Bernardino all winter long. Every other airport, you're going to be in long TSA lines, you're going to be miserable, you're going to say, oh, I got to get there two, three hours before my flight.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Not at San Bernardino International Airport. And now we send you on a direct flight into our podcast, which starts right now. This is the world famous K-Rock. All right. Football is back, baby. Good morning and welcome to your K-Rock. We are Klein Alley Show. Nice to meet you.
Starting point is 00:00:40 If you're wondering, and maybe you're a new listener, so you don't know this, or you just didn't listen yesterday, we now have different NFL teams that we are forced to support this season. A little forced fandom. Alley is riding with them Cardinals of Arizona all season long. Cardinals merch. You know, I think my sister has become kind of an unofficial Cardinals fan, so I was going to reach out to her.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Allie's hot sister. If anyone can turn that team around, it's Allie's hot sister. Well, people on the text line are excited. 714 is a Commander slash Redskins fan and is very happy that Omar's bringing the old name back. Oh, yeah. They said keep it going. Meanwhile, 818 said, I'm just hearing about your NFL teams,
Starting point is 00:01:16 and I have to chime in because I'm a day one Packers fan, and I would like to trade Jake. We don't want that whiny bitch on our squad. Oh, yeah. I'm going to have to cheese it. Too bad. Yeah, Jake's wearing his cheese head today. He's a full-blown Packers fan now.
Starting point is 00:01:28 He's going to put his hat back on right there. Even that giant brick of cheese doesn't cover up Jake's stank. And then, of course, Vanessa's riding hard with the Rams. Who's house? Rams house! She's excited, got herself a hat. Johnny's going to be a Broncos fan, a forced Broncos fan. Johnny, you've actually been invited.
Starting point is 00:01:46 This was an AI invitation that was on the GOAT line, but I think it's a real event that's happening. However, my name is Sonny at Sonny for Golden Delight, And I am the vice president, yes. I'm a dog of it. Broncos underscore country underscore Hollywood Instagram. So this guy runs the local Broncos fan page for local Broncos fans that live in Southern California. I'm messaging you in regards of your forced fans drawing.
Starting point is 00:02:09 I would like to invite Mr. Postmaster Johnny and Broncos fan Brandon to our Broncos bar in Hollywood on Monday at 5 p.m. as we have our season opener against those pesky Chiefs. So you've been invited to the big Broncos season opener. And now that you're a Force Broncos fan, you should probably attend that, I think. Johnny, you got to go. And I thought about it, too. Yesterday, I was like, wait, I drive a Ford Bronco, and my team is the Broncos. So I was like, ah.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Sounds like a real idiot thought right there. Bronco, Bronco, we belong together. Bronco. Well, Johnny also pointed out yesterday he doesn't really have a team. I don't have a team. I'm undeclared. And also, too, the Broncos aren't that bad. I mean, their jerseys are like orange and blue, and they got good jersey colors.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yeah, you look good in orange and blue. This guy's got an interesting take on what you should do with the remainder of your money. I know that, sadly, your first bet of the season didn't go well. Johnny did not give me all of his money to gamble. He only put $100 on my decision. Out of the $600 that he was originally going to give you. Yeah, $600. He gave me $100.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I was telling him he was looking great, and I still think that was a great bet. I know it didn't pay out for you, and New England ended up doing some stupid things at the end of the game, but I still think it was a good bet. This guy's got a good plan for the other $500. Hi, morning crew. So I'm catching up on today's episode and I had to pause on YouTube so I can call in for this. Johnny came in to some sweet, sweet cash. And you guys just got drafted new NFL teams.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Johnny, here's something you can do with that money. On Fanatics, thanks to their partnership with the WWE, they sell championship belts for every NFL team. And what better way to support your fandom, your hardcore, newly established fandom, than buying a championship with money you never had before. You get to walk in the studio with a championship belt, Johnny. Do it. Do it. Blow that money. Blow it, Johnny.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Blow it. No one blows it better than Johnny. So this guy has the chance. He says you go buy one of them WWE championship belts. Just walk around like this? Yeah, they got the Broncos logo on it. That'll make you the most annoying fan in the building. Arms up.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Anyway, we all have new teams that we're supporting, and we're really excited for this NFL season. So we have that. We'll get into some clickbait as we solve the Internet's biggest riddles next on KROQ. Well, apparently we are disgusting. And I'm not just talking about the people in this room, but I'm talking about us as citizens of planet Earth. And bartenders have weighed in on the grossest things that they watch us do when we're at bars. Oh. And now there is something that apparently they claim is happening a lot, and it makes us disgusting.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And according to bartenders, this is the absolute grossest thing we do when we go to bars. It's time for Clickbait. Here we go. All right. We go to the champion of the gross song. Allie, the first guest. You are the grossest on the show. We proved that.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I am. I recently worked out with no underwear on. Oh, God. That was by choice. Why did you do that by choice? No, actually, I got to the gym and I forgot underwear. I was like, well, that sucks. Monster.
Starting point is 00:05:16 I'm with that guy. So what is the grossest thing that we do at bars, according to bartenders that have weighed in on the grossest human behavior that they witness on a regular basis at bars? Oh, God. I guess I'm just going to go with something simple, which is drinking other people's drinks. Hey, can I have a sip of your drink? Try this. Try this. Setting something down.
Starting point is 00:05:39 not watching what's been touching your glass, picking it up, drinking it again. Maybe a stranger rushes out. They put a half drink on the bar and someone just goes up and goes, I'll finish that. Totally. Drink sharing.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Drink sharing, Ali says, according to bartenders, is the grossest thing. Jake? Drinking light beer. It sucks. He's a real man. He doesn't mess with light beers.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Do you have a real answer? How about grabbing a straw with your fingers or something and then sucking on the straw? That's not that gross. Grabbing a straw with your fingers? Yeah. What else are you going to grab it with, tweezers? Well, you don't have to grab it at all.
Starting point is 00:06:18 You can just use your mouth. What? I don't know what he's saying, but. How is his answer of light beer better? I don't know. It is better. I don't know. His joke answer was somehow better than his real answer.
Starting point is 00:06:30 You thought this guy would know because he spends more time at bars than all of us. I mean, Jake. I don't understand what this question is about. I think this question is stupid anyway. I don't know anything gross. You're stupid. Jake. It takes us so long to find these.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Let me say something. So now I know who found this. So here's the thing about Jake. He knows more about bars than any of us, and he should know more about gross than any of us. This should be right in his sweet spot. If you look at the Venn diagram of Jake, gross and bars is you, Ben. Maybe they canceled each other out, and he's just... So you got no answer?
Starting point is 00:07:00 I guess when you're one of those people, when you're the one doing the gross thing, you don't think it's gross, so you don't notice it. So maybe it's something Jake's doing. He doesn't realize it's gross. You know what? I've been moaning of people's Zamboni. Off the bar? Yeah. And they suck the drink right off the bar?
Starting point is 00:07:16 Yeah. I spilled a little of my drink there. I'll just go ahead and... I've never seen it happen in my life. Suck it off. Zamboni. All right, Omar, what's the answer? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:23 You know, I'm going to go with something along the lines of what Ali said, but instead, like, you know, once you had a few and maybe you're running out of cash and you just see some Rando's half-eaten sandwich that he left, you take that sandwich and you eat it. What's wrong with that? Oh, man. This is the problem. is that Jake will defend these gross behaviors. It's a half-eaten sandwich that I touched.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Oh, gross, dude. You don't know that person. If it's half-eaten, it is touched. No, the other half. They're cutting half. One half, untouched. You don't know why they didn't eat that half. Maybe something happened to that half,
Starting point is 00:07:51 so they go, I'm not going to touch that half. I'll risk it. Oh, man. All right, well, there's a lot of gross things we do at bars, and there's some things that made the list that are gross, like the people that stick their fingers in the garnish stuff. Oh, yeah. They grab their own limes, lemons, olives.
Starting point is 00:08:12 That's a thing that people like to grab, regular people, and we're gross. Because they don't want to bother the bartender. They've also, I think, done enough research on that. If you go to a place that has a bowl of popcorn or peanuts on the bar, they've basically done research that have shown that I think 80% of that is urine at this point because people are just gross and touching it constantly. But they, according to the bartenders, the grossest thing that they see us do on a regular basis that they find...
Starting point is 00:08:38 This doesn't bother me, but they say people will oftentimes take the gum out of their mouth that they're chewing and put it on the side of their glass. Oh, I've done that. Yep. And they find that to be disgusting
Starting point is 00:08:47 because as they are clearing glasses constantly, they are feeling... Well, I would take it off. Well, a lot of people forget about it. Yeah. And they say that it's one of the grossest things of their job now is having to deal with everyone's chewed gum
Starting point is 00:08:57 that's sitting on the side of their glasses. Chewed gum... Like, once you take gum out of your mouth, it is an inconvenience to everything and everyone around it. It is just disgusting. But a close second on that list was taking straws with your mouth or fingers. I was going to say light beer.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Whatever Jake said. We've got to take a break. There's your clickbait. Hey, we've got a Generation Wars in the future. I know we're going to be dealing with robots later today. So before we get you ready for the robot war that is brewing, their plan is to take us out in the next 10 years. We have a Generation Wars. So let's go ahead and beat up each other before we beat up the robots.
Starting point is 00:09:29 If you are Gen X, Gen Z, Millennial, or Boomer, and would like a chance to participate and win some tickets, plus bragging rights for your entire generation, call us right now at 800-520-1067. Generation Wars is next. Only one generation can be the best generation. Perhaps you believe it's when you were born, or you're jealous because you were born 10 years too early or 10 years too late. Regardless, we like to prove each and every week which generation reigns supreme. It's time for Generation Wars. generation wars hey are we busting or what you kids and your tiktoks coming off of a gen x win i believe and now here we are four new contestants representing
Starting point is 00:10:17 these same four generations on k-rock if you have a chance just by listening to yell answers into the air and root for your generation to go ahead and hold your head a little higher today in this round of Generation Wars. We say hi to Billy. Billy is a boomer. Billy the Boomer, born in 1964.
Starting point is 00:10:37 He gets mad when people enter his lawn, and that is a stereotype. But, Billy, you don't like it when people go on your lawn. Is that true? That's true. I've been pooping on there, and I deliver that right back to their home. So if someone poops on your lawn,
Starting point is 00:10:50 you'll pick it up and bring it over to their place and leave it there? That's what I do. I love the passive-aggressive. Well, it's just regular aggressive, actually. I get it. Boomers like to protect their lawn, and that is important.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Billy, if you know the answers to the questions, and some of these will be tailored towards you and your boomer ways, please make sure to answer by yelling out, boomer, wait for Ali to call on you, and then you get a chance to lock in. We go back in time now as we say hi to our Gen X, born in 1974.
Starting point is 00:11:17 This is Andrew, who claims that he used to write all of his essays in cursive. Oh, man, I miss cursive. I'm not even sure they teach anymore. Andrew, good morning. Welcome to KROQ. Good morning. You still using that cursive
Starting point is 00:11:30 or that's something that's kind of gone away? Oh, man. I hope I still remember, but yeah. I mean, my 11-year-old daughter has no idea what that's like. Yeah, yeah, it's good. You used to be able to spell in front of kids. Like, if you had to say something like, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:44 let's have SCX, they wouldn't know what you were talking about. But now, if you need to go ahead and get secret messages, It's just writing in cursive. Just writing in cursive. No one will know. They won't know. Weirdly.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Gen X code. Yep, Gen X code. Yeah, it is Gen X code. Matthew from, oh, no, let's say hi to Miriam. She is a millennial born in 1982 who is a big fan of sipping on matchas. Hello, Miriam. Welcome to KROQ. Hello.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Thank you. You will be representing all millennials. Millennials are a very loud, very proud generation, and they are rooting for you. So please do them justice. Do them justice, and we say hi to Matthew from Gen Z, who was born in 2006, and he loves ripping packs of cards. He's a ripper, just like me. Matthew, what do you rip?
Starting point is 00:12:28 Good morning. Matthew, cool. You like ripping? Are you ripping Pokemon, or are you ripping, like, real sports cards? Sports cards. Sports cards all day. Nice. Love it.
Starting point is 00:12:38 How much money do you think you've spent buying sports cards? This year, probably, like, 500. Oh, that's not much. What's your biggest pull? Did he get a Cooper flag rookie or something? No, some angel's autograph card. Oh, that's too bad. All right, here we go.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Let's get into it, guys. This is our crop of contestants. It's Generation Wars. Hands on your buzzer. And here we go. If someone describes someone as fat, as in P-H-A-T, what does that actually stand for? Oh, God, I think that was millennial first. Millennial?
Starting point is 00:13:17 Super cool. Now, the question is, what does fat, P-H-A-T, stand for? Gen X, you were next to lock in. Sweet, good looking, beautiful. No. Come on, what does it stand for? P-H-A-T. Gen Z?
Starting point is 00:13:37 Yes, Gen Z. They got a big butt. All right. That is a good guess as well. And that would be used potentially to describe someone with a big ass. But the words we're looking for, Boomer, want to take a shot at this? They're fat. They didn't lose weight.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Okay. That's a real one. We're just actually fat. We spelled it different. They're so fat, we need to add more letters. Pretty hot and tempting. Pretty hot and tempting is the actual acronym for fat. We move on to your next question, Generation Wars.
Starting point is 00:14:08 The score is 0-0-0-0. In the Matrix, what color pill does Neo take? X. I heard X. Gen X. He takes the red pill. That is correct. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:14:24 On the board. And we go to your next question right now. Generation Wars. If you were renting a video from a video rental store, you had the opportunity to rent in two different formats. One was VHS. What was the other one? Gen X.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Gen X. Gen X? Yes, Gen X. HD. No. Millennial. Boomer. Millennial, you were next.
Starting point is 00:14:54 DVD. No. Boomer. Yes, Boomer. Beta? That is correct. Whoa. Beta.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Ooh, yeah. Max. VHS or Beta Max? Beta. That was the other one you could do. It was a slightly smaller. No, VMS is bigger. I think it was smaller.
Starting point is 00:15:13 The box is smaller. I see them all the time at the VHS store I go to. Jake, you're wrong again. Well, the boxes that come in were bigger. Oh, my God. You are. Can you just say you're wrong? That's what I mean.
Starting point is 00:15:23 When you went to the Rinton, the boxes were way bigger. That's what I mean is that the box is bigger? Oh, Jesus Christ. You are a ridiculous human. Allie, what's the score right now? It's also the truth. Boomer and Gen X are tied with one. Whose famous catchphrase was, I pity the fool?
Starting point is 00:15:39 Uber. Gen X, I hurt you first. It's a team. Correct. We move on to your next question in Generation Worse. If someone said, gag me with a spoon, what are they actually saying? Millennial. Millennial?
Starting point is 00:15:55 That's gross. That is a correct answer, Millennial. Good job. Stealing slang from a totally different generation. It's you, Miriam. Congratulations. On the board. What is Jane Fonda known for?
Starting point is 00:16:06 Boomer. Millennial. Boomer. Exercise videos. That is correct. Yeah, before you watched them. Boomer. We move on to your next question.
Starting point is 00:16:16 It's Generation Wars right now. Boomer and Gen X now tie, but two apiece. How could kids create a pretty crappy picture by turning knobs side to side? Boomer. Boomer. Go ahead. Etch-a-Sketch. Correct.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Boomer. in a few in a row. We move on to your next question now in Generation Wars. Very exciting. Those things were so ridiculous. They suck. But yeah, the fact that they...
Starting point is 00:16:42 For some reason, we kept buying them. They still sell for some reason now. I mean, I still see those things for sale. Because one person is like, I bet I can draw a good picture. If someone were to send you a request on the Be Real app, what did you have exactly two minutes to do back?
Starting point is 00:17:00 Gen X. Yes, Gen X. Send a picture. More specific, Gen X. Send a message back. No, cannot accept. Millennial. Yes, Millennial.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Send an ID? No. Gen Z. Yes, Gen Z. This is your question. You should get this. Your location? No.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Be Real was the app where you had to show them exactly what you look like in the moment. So it had to be an unfiltered, unedited picture. Of you in the exact second to show that you were not. This was a big thing that lasted for a month. And then everyone realized we're very ugly with that filter. We don't want to be real. We go to your next question right now. In Generation Wars.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Allie, it's still pretty close, huh? Yeah, it is. Well, Boomer's in the lead now with three points. Followed by Gen X with two and Millennial with one. This is the next question now. In Generation Wars. This three-word website would allow you to upload a picture of yourself and instantly have determination if you were attractive or ugly.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Millennial. Yes, millennial. Hot or not. Hot or not. It's a real throwback. Allie, how'd you score on hot or not? I don't think I ever put my picture on hot or not. Is it still there?
Starting point is 00:18:17 I can upload it now. I think they took it down. I think there's too much bullying going on. Which cigarette brand used the slogan, Alive with Pleasure? millennial yes millennial newport that is correct wow millennial good job newport now you're tied with boomer with three points always alive with pleasure there's only four three questions i don't think anyone's alive anymore that smoke no they're all dead with pleasure we go to your next question
Starting point is 00:18:49 Man, Newport's were cool. What store was famous for their blue light specials? Gen X. Yes, Gen X. Kmart. That is correct. Nice job. Now we've got a three-way tie, Gen X, Millennial, and Boomer.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Oh, my God, with two questions left. What athlete had the nickname Broadway Joe? Boomer. Gen X. Joe Namath. That is the correct answer. All right, Gen X is now in the lead. But a lot of people on the text line are rooting for Billy the Boomer, finally doing well in a not-all-Boomer Gen Wars.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Before Harry Styles was simply Harry Styles, he was a part of what group? Boomer. Boomer. That was... I haven't... It's going to be... You need an answer. Three, two, one.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Having a senior moment. You know where you are, Billy? wants to steal this one. Go ahead. Who's up next? Gen Z. Yes, Gen Z. One Direction. That is correct. One Direction. I can't believe that was
Starting point is 00:19:59 not a unanimous. I'm surprised by that. I was really impressed that Boomer was going to pull that one because that is not a Boomer question. I was going to say One Republic. I had it wrong. I thought Boomer was going to say The Four Seasons. Alright, Allie. At the end of it all, where are we at? Do we have a winner? Yes, we do.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Gen X Andrew with four points has won this Generation Wars. Well, Miriam, you put in a good effort right there. Matthew from Gen Z, it was nice to meet you. Billy the Boomer, one of the strongest Boomer contestants we've had in a long time, and congratulations. But it all comes down to Andrew, who was able to get an X before anyone else.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Born in 1974, his cursive is going to be written a little bit crisper today with the victory in Generation Wars. And of all of the songs we play on K-Rock, what song can we play for you right now for your entire generation? Go ahead, Andrew. Your request will go on the airwaves right now. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Black by Pearl Jam. That's a great pick. Good pick. I saw Pearl Jam opening up the NFL season last night on some electric guitar. It was pretty impressive to see Pearl Jam out there in Seattle. It wasn't Pearl Jam. It was Mike McCready by himself. You're wrong.
Starting point is 00:21:10 That was also kind of like a wild. Thank you, Jake. I know who it was because I watched it. Oh, really? That's why you say Pearl Jam? Yes, because it said, and they actually introduced him on TV by saying, and now Pearl Jam is going to play the- Why don't you name the band I actually did play?
Starting point is 00:21:27 Oh, God, Jake. Jake, are you upset about Betamax still? You mean Soundgarden? You mean you want to say Soundgarden? You have to throw a little hissy fit about it. Those are bigger boxes. Okay. Here's your song, sir.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Thanks, Jack. Self-aware, Jake. Look into it. It's K-Rock. We are Klein Alley Show. If you need us, 800-520-1067. In about 20 minutes, we get you into the opening night of Not Scary Farm. Tickets for that.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Also, I should mention the guy who just won Generation Wars. Not only bragging rights for his entire generation and a song of his choosing, but we're going to give him six tickets to the Sand Sports Super Show at the OC Fair and Events Center happening September 18th through the 20th. So we just keep giving and giving and giving. As you know, I made a fool out of myself a couple weeks ago when I... Be more specific, please. Well, at a Costco, there was an impulse buy that I made that I soon regretted
Starting point is 00:22:13 because I got home and realized it wasn't what I thought it was. And I know you can relate to that because you bought a lot of things that you thought were one thing, like, for example, an ice cream cake, and then you cut into it and realized it was just a regular cake. Honest mistake. That's more than an honest mistake. That is called sabotage because it was in a freezer that said ice cream cakes. Buying, say, for example, five-hour energy that you thought was for sleep,
Starting point is 00:22:37 and that was an accident. It was purple. And you're upset with the makers of it because they made it look like something that it wasn't. And the hotel gift shop that I bought it in, it was placed by other sleep aid products. It wasn't just... The bottle says energy, man.
Starting point is 00:22:52 I understand what you guys are saying. And yes, I see why you make it... Do you? Do you? No, I understand why. I promise you whoever put that on display at the hotel gift shop where I bought it thought that it was for sleep. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Regardless, I went to Costco, saw a box that had Spider-Man on it. It looked exactly like Legos. This is so dumber than anything I did. And it was not Legos when I got home. Because it didn't say Lego anywhere. It said Marvel, and it looked exactly in the same font as, then they say the Lego amount of pieces.
Starting point is 00:23:23 All that font that's in the lower right-hand corner looked exactly like every single Legos box. They made it look misleading on purpose because no one would purposely buy a cardboard 3D puzzle of Spider-Man, which I then had to put together for hours. Yeah, you bought it, and you didn't return it, even though you said you were going to. No, I already had opened it and then I realized
Starting point is 00:23:43 there was a bunch of sheets of cardboard and not actual Legos and I had to explain to my kid that I bought the wrong thing. And your kid likes Legos and when kids like Legos, they don't want knockoffs, they want Legos. They don't want cardboard. I tried to explain that it's a different kind of Lego. It's a really cool type of Legos that no one else gets. Did he even buy that or no?
Starting point is 00:24:02 VIP Legos? Yeah. Flat Legos. That you have to make into cardboard pieces. Imagine if these were one-dimensional, how cool these would be. I mean, even with regular Legos, when you put them together, you can play with it. Like, he wants to play with Spider-Man. This is a cardboard puzzle.
Starting point is 00:24:17 You can't play with it. No, I mean, you tap it and it falls over. Right, right. You can't do anything with it. That does sound funny. So, in the mail, in the office yesterday, I receive a package, and I open it up, and lo and behold, some incredible listener has sent me a box of actual Spider-Man Legos. the real Spider-Man Lego set that I intended to buy in the first place.
Starting point is 00:24:39 The thing you thought you were getting. The one that's like $100 or something? Yeah, because the one that I bought was $30. This is why I would go. And it was like 1,300 pieces, and I was like, wow, what a great deal. You got so blinded by the deal that you completely lost track of the fact that you weren't buying Legos at all. Yeah, the actual one was $99.
Starting point is 00:24:55 You bought a puzzle, which sucks. But I put it together by myself. So someone sent you the real thing here. So I decided to give it to my kid. and the reaction by the way he i'm telling him there's a surprise coming he's very excited and i even remind him about the original spider-man puzzle and just watch this kid lose all excitement when i remind him about the costco puzzle okay wesley so someone that listens to mommy's radio show knows that you like spider-man and do you remember when i got you the spider-man from costco
Starting point is 00:25:27 You know that one? Worst day ever He almost starts crying I know, by the way And Omar has seen the video He looks so happy When I mention Someone knows you like Spider-Man
Starting point is 00:25:39 I mean, his mouth is open He's nodding his head He knows that a big thing's coming And then I mention the Spider-Man And he just goes back to confusion For his life That was his 9-11 The time that Ali brought home
Starting point is 00:25:50 The cardboard puzzle Spider-Man I don't think he knew What true disappointment was Until that moment how it was like legos but it was a different kind of legos how did you feel when you opened the box and it wasn't legos you felt silly that's mommy made a silly mistake so this person oh man your wife i like how she's throwing you under the bus right there a bitch wow that's that's crazy how did you feel about that therapist oh mommy made a silly mistake
Starting point is 00:26:21 Like, what a dumb bitch. Silly. I felt silly. I felt like a loser. Man, she really did throw you. I mean, she didn't say, oh, that was great. That's an insight of that marriage. I know, right?
Starting point is 00:26:32 All of the subtext. What's stronger, that cardboard Spider-Man or the strength of your marriage right now? I think they're both one ply at this point. So, this person who listens to my radio show thought that you should have this. Whoa! That is real. That's not that bootleg knockoff crown you bought. That's the real one.
Starting point is 00:27:01 This is real Lego. And it's part of Thanks, I don't know. Yep, so they got it because they knew you would like that. Can you tell them thank you? Thank you. I think there's 100 pieces. There's actually 800 pieces. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:20 It's a big one. How many ones do you need to get to 800? Oh, Jesus. No one knows that. He said 100. He's a smart kid. She's asking impossible questions. He always wins with a kid, man.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Yeah, don't ruin his good time. Nothing worse than that. I know. She's testing him. Well, he started school, so now she's asking him all these stupid questions all the time. Let the kid be a kid. I'm glad he finally got what he wanted and not that trash. It's so funny that he knows the difference between that fake thing you brought him and
Starting point is 00:27:44 the real one, the good stuff. It's crazy that a four-year-old can tell the difference between a Lego box and not a real Lego box. Hey, Napoleon, you're on KROQ. Good morning. Hi. Hey, I'm just saying that you can always return that even though you built it. It can only be so simple.
Starting point is 00:28:01 The Costco returning policy is retarded so anytime, even a year from now or two years from now. Should I say that when I bring it in? That word is actually written on the... You don't need your receipt. All you need is your Costco card. Just say, Napoleon said the policy is retarded so I can
Starting point is 00:28:17 Use it. Yeah, I think you should agree on that line. No. The line of sad returners holding your fully put together Spider-Man thing. And what was wrong with it? I thought it was Legos. Well, I built it. You can look and see what's wrong with it.
Starting point is 00:28:31 We take a break. We're back in a moment. We have news to get to. And then those tickets you've been waiting for. Opening night, Not Scary Farm after this. It's K-Rock. We are Klein Alley Show. Hello, sluggers.
Starting point is 00:28:41 And hello, netbangers watching along on YouTube right now. We are streaming live right there. I forgot to mention that this morning. But you can go ahead and see the show. what it looks like visually, and exactly how large is Allie getting. We demanded the return of Fat Allie. We said make Allie fat again. Maffa.
Starting point is 00:28:56 People were chanting it in the streets, and our wishes have become a reality. If you'd like to be scared so much that you have to change your pants, I hope you're listening the second we're done with the ADT News because we'll get you four tickets to opening night of Not Scary Farm, and here's something you can look forward to right there as you go through the horrifying mazes. Here we are. First bike ride.
Starting point is 00:29:20 How scary does that sound? Just imagine that, huh? Oh, I can. That was Allie actually falling off her bike because she saw a man and got scared. I freaked out because I didn't want to hit him. So if you thought that was scary, trust me when I say Not Scary Farm will be much scarier. We get you in a second. We're done with this.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Grab your Adderall. It's time for ADD News. you know it's i don't know how excited someone can get for a museum opening but when it comes to the lucas museum in southern california it is highly anticipated opening it's opening later this month on the 22nd if you drive by it it looks like a giant pair of ufos crashed into each other it looks pretty cool the not cool uh cool part of this is that the museum is already being sued before it even opens the contractor is apparently suing the lucas museum for 1.9 billion dollars baby claiming that he wasn't paid for some of the work that he did and apparently
Starting point is 00:30:17 at the center of this lawsuit is that this the museum has this weird deal for the land where they have a 99 year lease that costs 30 a year what a steal especially in southern california where land and leasing is a very difficult process. So the fact that they have a 99-year lease for $30 a year, I guess this contractor thinks that that deal qualifies them into a different category and that this guy is owed way more money because of that. And they're saying, no, this is all fair and square. It is a $1 billion museum that's still set to open in a couple of weeks.
Starting point is 00:30:51 And currently, we don't know if it will open because of this? No, it will, but they're still going through this big lawsuit. But I don't think that they're going to win. $1.9 billion lawsuit I feel like is just something you make up It was like that Facebook lawsuit Where it's like give us $7 trillion Okay fine we'll take a few billion
Starting point is 00:31:08 They'll settle because no one likes to go to court Or they won't and they'll just fight it And so the lawyers will get rich It's like when you put something on offer up That you think you can get more money out of You're like $5,000 for this armoire And they're like I'll give you $20 And you're like alright fine
Starting point is 00:31:22 I'll pick it up but I'll give you nothing But I'll pick it up today By the way I still have a couch Somebody can pick up a couch You want a couch She's been trying She tried to give this to Jake the other day He passed and Jake loves
Starting point is 00:31:34 He only passed because he can't fit it Yeah but he said it could be an outside couch He could put it right outside the shack Do you want an outside couch? No I'm good He just doesn't want to do it because it's a long drive No it's because it was yours I've been getting ghosted by so many people
Starting point is 00:31:49 Hi I'm very interested When can I pick it up? And then I respond And then nothing You don't realize but a lot of those have been me pranking you No I have a lot of back and forth with Allie and she's pretty desperate to get rid of this guy
Starting point is 00:32:01 he was very interested that was me too so it's interesting the time we're living in now because we're in an age where flip phones are making a comeback and landline phones are making a comeback even though we are in the future and AI is about to take over
Starting point is 00:32:17 so flip phones are being announced and kids want old school telephones for their birthdays just like Klein's daughter and now old school rotary phones are also making their way onto college campuses to make kids feel more comfortable with the transition to college. And the University of Colorado Boulder knows it can be tough. So just look at what they did. Hey, this is mom. Hey, Roya, this is your dad. Hi, Ellie. We're so excited for you. Setting up an old rotary phone and asking parents to leave a message on move-in day. Hey, mom, I'm already
Starting point is 00:32:50 crying i'm so proud of you honey the best is yet to come and just you have the rest of your life ahead of you parents recording those those kids are all so high right now by the time they got those messages especially at the university of boulder i can't believe any of the students found this phone yeah well i think the parents are the ones that use the rotary phone yes i know but then they can pick it up and listen to the messages and things like that or i guess maybe they can get them delivered a different way but on move-in day the parents are supposed to leave these cool voicemails for the kids and I imagine by now
Starting point is 00:33:21 these kids are so happy that their parents are gone. I think they assume... Ah, you stupid assholes. Thank you, kids. Thanks for the voicemail. Thanks for the voicemail. I love their children knowing.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Anya Goldberg, this is your mom. I love you so much. It's move-in day and we're getting one more bag from the back of the car. You're up there
Starting point is 00:33:39 with a drill putting your furniture together. No, you're smoking weed. I mean, it's like such a typical mom message giving every detail. You're upstairs with a drill, building furniture. I love the stuff to be like, it's mom.
Starting point is 00:33:52 Right. Sincerely, mom. Wait, did I say that on the phone? And dad and I could not be more proud of you today. Each message you need. They're not at Harvard. They're at University of Colorado Boulder. Let's calm down for a second.
Starting point is 00:34:03 I'm proud of you for making it to Boulder. Right. Most people can make it there. No problem. Well, each beaming with pride. Each filled with love. Hi, Caitlin. It's mom.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Oh, Jesus. Everyone's saying. We all know. We know it's you, Mom. Yes, Caitlin, go ahead. All right, if you listened to yesterday's Show Overtime podcast, we were discussing... Oh, never mind.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I just talked about this. I'm an idiot. You know what? Allie is an asshole. I am. You know, this transitions perfectly into my next story. If you lose your train of thought in the middle of a sentence... What is happening with you?
Starting point is 00:34:43 Do you think that something is wrong with you? They did a study about this. By the way, I just want to applaud everyone on the show that no one, no one jumped in to help you. And I think that means we're doing our job right. Because we all saw you sitting there lost. I was like, where am I? No one decided to help out. And that's exactly how things are.
Starting point is 00:35:00 No, I wouldn't have it any other way. So word finding difficulty is a very familiar cognitive complaint that people have. And it's something that Vanessa has a lot after the show when she's explaining some things that she would like to update us on after the show. she usually starts telling us something and then she stops halfway through and we're left to kind of put the pieces together, right? I don't even know whose house it is. Rob's house!
Starting point is 00:35:26 She got through that one. It's a two-word sentence. So they studied a bunch of adults and they figured out that how long people pause to find words does not necessarily mean that you have a problem, that you're in early onset dementia, or that you're dumb
Starting point is 00:35:42 or anything like that. Everyone is just at different speeds. For example, Well, you speak very quickly, Klein. Yeah, because I'm smarter than you and I have a bigger brain. That's literally saying the opposite. Well, they're wrong. It doesn't matter. But if you are a fast talker and you don't pause a lot between speech and then eventually it starts to dwindle and you can't find the words and you do have the pauses, that is the problem.
Starting point is 00:36:03 So once a slow talker, always a slow talker, that's fine. But if you were fast, then you go slow. Exactly. You're in trouble. You're in trouble. Obama was good at being a slow talker, but he did a good job of making it. It was so intentional, though. Well, yeah, at least you believed that everything he was saying was, like, very epic sounding
Starting point is 00:36:19 because of the way, the cadence in which he would speak. But it was actually, I wish I could master that because it gives you a lot of time to come up with something better to say than what you were probably going to say. Yeah. I speak too fast. I don't think about the words that are coming out of my mouth. Clearly. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:31 And then I say them, and then I go, I probably shouldn't have said that. I do think about them, and then still it's bad. Oh, jeez. You should think harder. I'm the worst of both worlds. Call it 20 right now. Let's get you into opening night of Not Scary Farm. If you call us at this exact moment, 800-520-1067.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Let me speed that up for you. 800-520-1067. Let's go.
