Starting point is 00:00:00 We'll get into an episode of Klein Alley Show in just a moment, but in the meantime, let's tell you about our absolute favorite place on the planet. Yep, that would be San Bernardino International Airport, where you can go through the airport process without waiting in long lines and overpaying for parking. Quick connections to the Bay Area and the world, plus ski and snowboard in Provo from San Bernardino all winter long. Every other airport, you're going to be in long TSA lines, you're going to be miserable, you're going to say, oh, I got to get there two, three hours before my flight.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Not at San Bernardino International Airport. And now we send you on a direct flight into our podcast, which starts right now. This is the world famous K-Rock. Hi there, chicken. Welcome to your K-Rock. It is just after 8 o'clock on a Friday morning. And if you need us, phone, text line, same as yesterday, 800-520-1067 or 323-TIBOLI if you're nasty. I'm Klein. That is Allie over there.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Hi. You got in the K-Rock studio, in our studio for a change. As you can see, we're streaming live, and she is double-fisting Tendi's right now with her special eating gloves. That is producer Vanessa. She's putting sauce on every bite. Yeah, she's doing bite sauce, bite sauce right there. And, of course, in the back, taking the calls, Postmaster Johnny. Then you've got Jake the Nerd over there and the audio sniper.
Starting point is 00:01:09 The finest in all the land, known as DJ Omar Khan. So if you need us, we are accessible to you all morning long as we are doing this live interactive radio show. You can call. You can text. You can just sit back and listen. This hour on the show, we found out that someone on our show has a friend that just recently started dating a teacher of theirs, or a teacher. And it was an interesting conversation about...
Starting point is 00:01:35 Dating unattainable people that are pretty much your senior. Yeah, like either later in life. I mean, we've all heard the stories, right? Like Allie claims that her and her wife had a threesome with her wife's old softball coach. High school softball coach. She was an assistant coach, but still. But like later in life. then it seems taboo because you're not supposed to do it,
Starting point is 00:01:54 but it's also totally okay, I guess, later in life, right? She wasn't even my softball coach, and I was like, this is hot. So we will get into your calls and stories about that a little bit later this hour. So once again, you ended up dating somebody. Maybe it was like a former boss or maybe a therapist, a doctor. That's a crazy thing because they're not allowed to. The therapists are not allowed to date the patients, right? Isn't that a rule?
Starting point is 00:02:19 I'm pretty sure that's a rule, yeah. But it must happen, right? It must happen all the time. I think it happens a lot. I know someone that started dating their divorce lawyer. Like, the person was helping them get a divorce, then they ended up dating that. And I would imagine divorce lawyers probably,
Starting point is 00:02:32 they got a bunch of emotional, vulnerable people there. And even if it's an organic connection, it probably feels a little bit like a conquest because you got someone that's kind of unattainable, someone you're not supposed to date. So we'll get into those stories a little bit later and some nominees for a new round of Lifetime Achievement Awards, all coming up later this hour on KROQ.
Starting point is 00:02:54 But first, we say good morning to... Let's see why Chrissy's calling. Hey, Chrissy, why are you calling us right now? I heard Vanessa talked about chickens. Yeah, Vanessa did talk about chickens. All morning long when you hear this... I hear chickens. Call us and get yourself some tickets to Tenderfest
Starting point is 00:03:10 happening tomorrow in Beverly Hills, California, and details and tickets at tenderfest.com. Congratulations, Chrissy. You're as good as in. and we will see you tomorrow. Hold on one second. Enjoy all them chicken tenders. I'm tapping out.
Starting point is 00:03:24 You're tapping out already? I'm tapping out. For now. No, I'm done. I'm full. Do you remember the time Vanessa said she wasn't going to have any donuts and then we found out later
Starting point is 00:03:33 she had three donuts? That was a donut day. I think fast forward one to two hours she will be dipping back into that chicken sweat. One to two hours. One to two minutes, I think. She's going to start getting... I'm full.
Starting point is 00:03:44 She's going to start getting the chicken sweats. I know, but you know you can't control yourself. She's used to the kids' meals. Yeah, so anyway, we got lots to get into. Kick things off with some friends, Ferdinand, on a Friday morning here on KROQ. Eating dinner after this time means you are more likely to die an early death. That is freaky, and that is clickbait worthy, and we will get to that right now.
Starting point is 00:04:03 It's time for clickbait. Here we go. All right, there is a new time that apparently you should be eating dinner for optimum health. However, there's also a time, and if you eat dinner after this time, you have a very high probability that you will die an earlier death. And think about that for just a moment. If you're one of these people that just doesn't have a set dinner time, some days, maybe weekends, you go later. I know that the trend was moving earlier and earlier, but there's two new findings out today. And these are experts weighing in saying that this is the optimum time to eat dinner for optimum health. And this is the time you should never eat after because, similar to the gremlins, you will potentially die.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Yeah, I know. I've heard stuff about how it affects your digestion if you eat too late because then you go to bed and you're trying to digest while you sleep. On the other hand, Vanessa just had dinner. Yeah, she had a lot of dinner. Yeah. It am. That would be interesting if this dinner should be. Well, I do think that there's, you know, look, we've been doing things a certain way in society for a while.
Starting point is 00:05:08 You know, the whole breakfast for breakfast and dinner for dinner. We've started changing that with the BF Dursday. A lot of people sending us the breakfast they had last night for dinner. Maybe there's something about having dinner for breakfast. Oh, I think dinner is the best because there's endless options. I could eat dinner at any time. I'm going to go with 5.30, Mr. 5.30. Mr. 5.30 is the optimum time to eat dinner.
Starting point is 00:05:27 And what is the time that you think if you eat after? Past 8. Anything after 8? I think if you eat after 8, it's not. No bueno. If you eat after 8, you die. That's according to Allie. I'll give you the answers in a moment.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Jake the Nerd. Optimum time? Jake's on chicken cam now, by the way, if you're watching. Oh, yeah, chicken cam. Jake's got his platter now. He's going ham on a bunch of chicken. He grabbed a ton. I think he grabbed what was considered the rest of it for us.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I love how he was getting all worried about how much chicken Vanessa. He was yelling at Vanessa. You ate all the chicken. You ate all the tenders. She almost did. Yeah, there's plenty of tenders here. Don't worry. There's more boxes.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Jake, what is the answer? I'm going to say 6 o'clock is the optimum time, and anything past 9.30. Anything past 9.30, you will run the risk of early death. There are some people that have late. My in-laws eat at 9 p.m. And that's at home, out at night, dinner, out at a restaurant. It doesn't matter, 9 p.m. If you're doing that intermittent fasting crap, though,
Starting point is 00:06:25 isn't that when you have to eat? Don't you not eat all day and then you get to eat at 9 o'clock at night? It depends. You have to have a 12-hour window where you're not eating so you can decide. How do you find a 12-hour window when you're not eating? You have to sleep, right? That's the only way to not eat. Yeah, well, you can stop eating at, say, 9 or 10 and then eat at 10 the next day or something.
Starting point is 00:06:42 But I think other people will do 15 hours or 18 hours even. Just eat everything in a six-hour window. I know a lot of people do that mouth taping thing for sleep, but I've been doing it for eating. That's what I do. I just tape my mouth shut during the day. You still try and eat. I eat right through the tape. I just ate the tape.
Starting point is 00:06:57 It's delicious. Omar, what's the answer? Yeah. You know, I have a feeling that the younger generation, everything's going earlier, earlier, earlier. And weren't you Mr. 5 o'clock for a bit? Mr. 530. Oh, Mr. 530, okay. He wanted a 530 reservation.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I'm going to say it's going earlier. I'm going to say 4 p.m. when you can have dinner. And then I also think the younger generation is getting more sleep, so they prioritize that. And they're going to sleep around 8 o'clock. I'm going to say you can't eat anything after 7 p.m. All right, let me start with the dangerous thing. So for every hour after 8 p.m., the study found that the chances of having a stroke, which is a blood supply to the brain, is briefly interrupted, increased by 8%. That's every hour after.
Starting point is 00:07:44 So think about it. So 8 p.m., I was right. 9 p.m. Technically, they say once you hit 9 p.m., you have a 28% more likely chance to die of a stroke. But understand that 8 is kind of the number they're playing with and going, and this is based on the idea that you're going to go to sleep sometime around 10, 11, something like that. That's when it starts to not become beneficial. That's when it starts to become bad for you and it starts to increase 8% every hour thereafter. This optimum time has shifted now even earlier than they originally thought.
Starting point is 00:08:11 There was a window of that 5 to 7, you're good. They're saying that now they think that 5 to 5.30, 5.30, Mr. 5.30, is the sweetest spot if you want to optimize your health and make sure. Now, I don't know if it applies for us because we're going to bed earlier, too. So this is based on kind of normal, you know, society norms. Right, but if we're going to bed earlier than everybody else, does that mean we need to eat at, like, 3? I don't know, because part of it is circadian rhythm crap. Yeah, I'm going to bed later. So, but, you know, maybe you're one of these people that does, like, a two-dinner.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Like, you know, some people do that, like, a light dinner early than a different. What about me? I go to sleep at 1. Yeah, so once again, I don't know. I don't know the answer. Based on this, they say the sweetest spot is between 5 and 5.30 is when you want to have dinner. There you go. Mr. 5.30 is going to live forever. So watch out.
Starting point is 00:08:56 There's your clickbait. We'll come back in a moment. When we return, did you or someone you knew start dating someone that was unattainable for obvious reasons? Either maybe it was a teacher after the fact. Johnny claims a buddy of his just started dating one of his former English teachers, which is a crazy story. An English teacher he claims is the hottest teacher. I'm just shocked that Johnny ever had a teacher before. That's the part that's surprising for me.
Starting point is 00:09:20 If you have a story about someone that you dated that was, you know, kind of one of those taboo relationships, former boss, something like that, let us know now. 800-520-1067. We'll come back with that after this. Taboo relationships. Certain people you're not supposed to date. Sometimes it's actually illegal, especially if it's a doctor-patient situation. Or a relative. Or a relative.
Starting point is 00:09:42 But they didn't stop Allie, so you can see that up on the Instagram. By the way, I'm following closely that cousin marriage law that's happening in Florida. You know, 657 let us know that they can't call right now, but they did at one point start dating their parole officer, which is an interest. That has to be a sense of accomplishment. That's that is. Wow. I'm trying to think at that point, I guess the parole officer would be in the wrong because that's probably the deal. You're not supposed to.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Right. I would imagine that violates parole as like it violates your job as a parole officer. My dad also married his boss. Oh, wow. Well, that's happened more often than I think. a lot of times now you have to make a decision like you know some people will actually leave a job because the relationship gets to a point where they're like if word gets out we'll get fired anyway hey um ricky you're on k-rock uh talking about people that you dated that you
Starting point is 00:10:31 probably shouldn't have for whatever the reason may be we found out yesterday that johnny's friend is now dating a former english teacher not not his english teacher but a former english teacher i guess at the school so like you know it's it's a little different if it's your own i guess that Of course, it's completely different if they taught you and then later on in life, you get to date that person and you had a crush on them in high school or whatever grade it was. Remember that Is It Creepy we did a while ago where the man started dating a woman and she was like in her 20s and he was in his 40s. Okay, that happens a lot. But the weird thing is that they had a picture of when she was like three and was sitting on his shoulders. Oh, yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:11:11 That's me and my wife. And then they recreated it. Yeah. Ricky, what's up? well all of that babble reminded me that one of my friends thank you thanks so much for sounding like our boss johnny's college he teaches at johnny's college and he slept with students he's gay you have a teacher you know a teacher you were johnny with the college who slept with male students that's a side story yeah literally so i i keep sending them messages it's like is
Starting point is 00:11:43 It's a guy you stuck with, but anywho. Good babble, dude. That was some real babbling right there. This guy knows babble. Takes a babble to know a babble. Yeah. Why did you call originally? Does this apply to you in any way?
Starting point is 00:11:57 No. Well, because I know a teacher that slept with Johnny. But anywho, I slept with a student later on. Oh, okay. They hired the student to work at my location, and I stole a lot of money, and the student, my new coworker, whatever, was accused of stealing said money. I'm sorry. You're saying that you slept with a student, but now you're saying it's a slash coworker. Did you sleep with a student or a coworker?
Starting point is 00:12:34 He hired a former student to be his co-worker, and then he stole money. It's a convoluted story. I can't get to the bottom of the story. We don't have time. Anonymous, you're on KROQ. Hi, what happened to you? So shortly after high school, I was hooking up with an old classmate who was a known drug addict. Under the false pretenses that I would get them drugs.
Starting point is 00:12:58 And I never told anyone because on a completely unrelated note, she later committed suicide. Oh, my God. That's so sad. That was a terribly sad story. Jesus. I didn't realize these stories were going to be like this. This took a real twist. I was thinking we'd get more stories like 323 who said, I am currently sleeping with
Starting point is 00:13:15 my kid's teacher. I am divorced, so it's totally cool, but also I could understand why she wants to keep it hush-hush. Now, think about that for a second. You have a kid who's in school. They have a teacher. You start sleeping with their teacher. Is there a conflict of interest there?
Starting point is 00:13:32 Maybe. I don't know. I don't know There's no rules against it I don't think I don't think the schools would have rules against that At my kids school there was a big scandal With the principal sleeping with a parent But that's the principal
Starting point is 00:13:47 Is that a different standard than a teacher I think it would be worse if it was a teacher Right exactly This wasn't an employee When I was a prosecutor I slept with a judge I don't know what the rules are on that either Guilty of being erect
Starting point is 00:14:03 I don't know what the rules are like are you not the rule is you can't say that oh that's the rule I object to that joke so it's happening on uh on a variety of I mean levels across the board Allie of course uh you know mentioning that she and her wife had a threesome with her wife's former softball coach but this was many years later yeah so she was an assistant softball coach and she was like one of the younger like I think she had just graduated college or maybe she was even still in college she was an assistant coach for my wife's high school softball team later they reconnected became friends and then you know katie and i started dating and then it just kind of came up where we were like hey if we're gonna have a threesome let's do it and then we did it and i
Starting point is 00:14:47 was i kind of felt like by proxy i had sex with my softball coach even though that wasn't direct but it still felt pretty cool there's all these relationships that are taboo for different reasons and ones that you know you're not allowed to do, like, inside the workplace. Sometimes it doesn't even matter if you have the same level of job. They say they don't want any hooking up in the workplace, period. They just don't want that drama there. But, I mean, that's where most people end up meeting and spending most of their day together. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Where else are you supposed to meet people on stage? That's why Allie and I have so much sexual chemistry. Yeah, I know. It's palpable. It's where all the power comes from. I do. 3101, I'm interested if you think this is equally inappropriate. This person slept with their ex's dad.
Starting point is 00:15:25 slept with her ex's dad what would be the reason for that because she said I slept with my ex's dad after she cheated on me oh well that's good revenge so you're getting revenge sex with the dad but I mean what an inappropriate I mean that's a whole porn category is it not
Starting point is 00:15:41 crappy dad by the way yeah that is a crappy dad right there I guess it passes down through generations Charles you're on KROQI what happened to you hey good morning I was a pool manager and I slept with one of my employees. And are there
Starting point is 00:15:58 rules about that at the pool? No running. No, yeah, no. Definitely big no-no. Oh, it's a big no-no. You have to keep it, yeah. Keep it hush-hush from all the other employees. This is Dan. You're on KROQ. Hi, what's up?
Starting point is 00:16:14 Hey, so when I was in first grade, my school had this program where they paired first and seventh graders together, and you know, you have like a reading buddy. there's an older kid who read to you and stuff. Yeah, yeah. They still have that reading buddy.
Starting point is 00:16:27 You know what? I never got a reading buddy ever because I was not able to read. Well, I wasn't either, which is why she read to me. And then like 15 years later, she also married me. Wow.
Starting point is 00:16:40 Oh, that's interesting now. That's one of the... So you were the first grader. She was the seventh grader. And then 15 years later... Does she still read to you? That's so weird. Charlotte's Web.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Or it's like cat in a hat. He's a terrific pig. Yeah, all right. Oh, there, thanks for that joke. That's Dan right there. All right, so that's an interesting, I think everyone's reading out the Jake Dill joke book today. Yeah, seriously.
Starting point is 00:17:09 All right, well, that's, wow. You all got laid. Good for you. Some of these relationships are levels of taboo I didn't even think about. I mean, obviously, you know, everyone thinks about boss. Yeah, boss employee. And I understand that happens constantly. And I also, I have a friend who's a teacher.
Starting point is 00:17:26 And when we were talking about, you know, teachers letting loose over the summer, and she was like, you know, there are a lot of teachers who are swingers or just kind of freaky. So it kind of makes sense when you think about it in that context. Right, Omar? I don't know. Your wife's a teacher. I don't know if you think about this, Sally, but this is an interesting one from 818. I slept with one of my parents' friends.
Starting point is 00:17:50 I am 24 at the time, and they were in their mid-30s. But apparently, I found out afterwards that this person was my godfather. Cool. So think about that for a second. That's weird. But you don't know. Some people get that title. It doesn't mean anything.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Oh, my gosh. My wife became somebody's godmother, and she takes it so seriously. She had sex with her. Oh, yeah. Good. That's the most important duty. All right. Topher, Katie, I wish we could get to all these calls.
Starting point is 00:18:17 We have to play this one from Dominic. Wait, Katie's on the phone. Oh, it's Allie's wife, Katie. Hold on one second. Let's see here. Hi, Katie. Welcome to KROQ. What's up?
Starting point is 00:18:26 Oh, this isn't the wife. Oh, okay. It's not Allie's wife. Different Katie. Sounds like her. Go ahead. It does. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:34 So I had a jiu-jitsu coach who would measure. Can you disguise your voice? So my name is Janice. Let Allie's wife talk, everyone. I slept with my tap teacher. I'm sorry. Allie's wife. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:18:49 You're on the air. Kate, what happened? I had a jujitsu coach that would mentor teenage girls, and then once they were 18, he'd try to sleep with them. Wow. Oh, man, that jujitsu. I'm telling you, they should make that a legal jujitsu. Just jujitsu in general?
Starting point is 00:19:04 Yeah, I think that's all those jujitsu coaches are doing, is sleeping with the people. I'm pretty sure of it. That's where Jake comes from. 562 said they're a plumber, and they've slept with multiple clients on the job. That seems crazy. Everyone knows the plumber's stereotype.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I don't think the plumber's held to, like, a higher standard. Like, there's probably no rules against that, and maybe that's a weird fantasy thing, but it does feel like if they're there to solve a problem. I've never seen... A hot plumber? Right. Every plumber that's ever come to my house looks like they live in a sewer. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Topher, you're on KROQ. Hi, what's up? Yo, so I used to work with my mom. Well, my mom used to take me to work when I was, like, seven. Yeah. And I made me, you know, meet all her coworkers. so later on in life I'll start working where she is and I slept with
Starting point is 00:19:47 most of those co-workers. Most of the co-workers you slept with? Most of them. A few of them. Oh man. How old were you when this happened? He said he went to work as a kid and met all of her co-workers when he was seven. And then later on? Then later he went to go work there.
Starting point is 00:20:02 What's the age gap? Yeah. About 15-20 years. Oh man. Do you think they were like Oh, my gosh. I remember you as a kid. Anyway, take your pants off.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Oh, man. Pull that clip. Pull that. Goddamn it. Add it to the boy fade holder. The whole reason we did this segment was so Ally would say something stupid like that and we'd play it back in her face. It's K-Rock.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Dominic Fyke, Baby Doll, which means Ally's going to start dating him. Sing for another minute, dude. No, he's done. He's only got one minute. How long is that song? One minute and 30 seconds. Wow. He couldn't have maybe done one more verse?
Starting point is 00:20:36 Yeah. It just kind of throws us off. I like a short song, but it's like... Yeah, that was a little jarring there. I was like, what? In radio, we have certain songs that we call dump songs because they're so long that we could actually leave the studio, go down the hall, go to the bathroom, make a number two comeback,
Starting point is 00:20:50 bittersweet symphonies, maybe the greatest dump song ever. Champagne Supernova. Metallica's got a few too, which are great. And sometimes there's a weird effect now that even though I don't have to go to the bathroom, but one of those songs starts playing, my body will immediately start making the dump. It's like the brown noise.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Yeah, and this is the exact opposite of that, that Dominic Fyke. Gives you anxiety. full panic as soon as my mind goes somewhere else it's like we're back
Starting point is 00:21:12 there's so many of these taboo relationships coming through now sadly we can't get into all of them because we have more show to get into including your tickets
Starting point is 00:21:20 in about 20 minutes to go to the next four shows happening here at KROQ oh here it is oh no oh Klein you okay
Starting point is 00:21:27 you gotta go oh me too what's happening now there was a conversation please turn that off before I make my make it my pants you got a nice long intro too
Starting point is 00:21:38 I know it does. It really is happening. Is the spline unbuckling? It's really starting to happen right now. I'm going to have an outro. I may have to go down the hall now. And he's running in slow-mo. This is all I hear.
Starting point is 00:21:51 This song is like 100% fiber, dude. So, you know, we talked about people that are in weird relationships. Earlier this week, Allie, you mentioned the fact that there's more single men now than ever before. Guys don't want to get married. Right. And a lot of guys have called the goat line and given us reasons why. And, you know, I think women's expectations are getting high for what they want. And I get it.
Starting point is 00:22:09 No one likes to settle anymore. I think at some point. Or they can't go any lower. And guys just keep getting worse. Well, I think it's easy to blame the guys. I mean, look at how excited the girls were that Jake dated just because he showed up and wore a shirt. Yeah. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Even though he didn't have sleeves. But this is what one guy said. I know why guys aren't getting married anymore. Women are absolutely nuts and crazy. So this is this guy's theory, is that women are absolutely nuts and crazy. I mean, I enjoy a good woman every now and then, you know, but they're nuts. But they're nuts. They are crazy, and the expectations have gone.
Starting point is 00:22:46 I think it's true for both sides. I think both people have unrealistic expectations. This is why I say men and women are not compatible. Yeah, but there used to be. Guys date guys, girls date girls. We solved this problem. There used to be a settle effect. There used to be a, I will settle to this point,
Starting point is 00:23:02 And then over the years, the longer you're single, the more you settle, right? Like you go like, all right, I don't care if he has his hair as long as he's got a job or I don't care. And then eventually he goes, well, he doesn't really have to have his hair or a job as long as he's got some teeth. As long as he treats me nicely. Right. Oh, he only cheated on me once. Right. I'll allow it.
Starting point is 00:23:19 So you just, the settle effect just keeps changing. But sadly, no one wants to settle for anything anymore. So everyone's got these ridiculous, they go, I'll only consider dating anyone if they're six feet tall and they make, you know, six figure salad, whatever the numbers are. And it just becomes so unrealistic with what is actually out there. I had a friend who's married a woman. She's nuts. He's got three kids. They're all girls.
Starting point is 00:23:40 They're nuts. Now he's got four women. Trust me, I get it, dude. This guy is going to make the argument that all women are crazy, which is a fact. Well, but also if you spend all your time bashing women, why would one want to be with you? Right. I mean, that's the thing. I think that the number one thing we have to do is when you have a crazy woman in your life, you convince her that she's not crazy.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Even though you know she's crazy. Do you see the problem here? Right. It's the craziness is the problem. But then you say, oh, these are totally normal thoughts. Complaining about women being crazy. Right, right. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:24:12 I'll stay single and keep my money to myself. Thank you. Why? Why? Why would I want a woman other than, you know, other than that, it's not that important. So that's the other thing. People are not prioritizing the relationship part of it. And I think kids have gotten ridiculously expensive.
Starting point is 00:24:29 And as a result, people just go, what is... It's all just a big hassle. But then you know what? You're just sitting alone with an AI chatbot as a girlfriend. And then you start slowly losing your mind. And then your mind starts to turn on you. And then you start creating people that don't exist. And then you've gone cuckoo.
Starting point is 00:24:49 And you're the crazy one. I agree with Allie. Guys are getting worse by the day. Hashtag team vibrator. I've always been team vibrator. So pull that as well. So understand that that's where we're at right now. And I don't know if there's an end in sight.
Starting point is 00:25:04 I mean, we could do one of those single dating event things. We haven't done one of those. I know that Kevin and Bean used to do a lot of legendary singles parties. There was an opportunity to get people together. And I know that some people have met as a result of this show. But the concept that this is, now we've got the evidence to back it up, but that people are embracing being single, loving being single. It used to be like all single people were doing was just trying to not be single.
Starting point is 00:25:29 And now I think it's kind of the opposite. Well, I think also online dating has ruined everything. I think that men, I mean, this is generalization, but I think a lot of men who want to sleep with women are literally on a dating app just to do that. They just want to sleep around and then move on with their life. The girls would rather have a long-term relationship. So these two people just can't be compatible with one another. Hey, Mario on KROQ, hi. How's it going, guys?
Starting point is 00:25:54 Good. You know, they're all crazy. Some are just crazier than others. You just got to find the one that fits your crazy and go with it. And by the way, I agree that men, especially now, can be not as crazy, but can be crazy too. And I think he's right about that. Not as crazy as women or not as crazy as they used to be? No, I think that men are a different type of crazy as well.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Remember we used to do that thing called he cray, she cray, Allie? where it was all about how people always accused the women of being the crazy ones in the relationships. And then we found all these examples of guys doing absolutely bonkers crazy ass. Because what we learned through that and kind of why we stopped doing it was that women would be like, oh, I'm going to put laxatives in your coffee. And guys would be like, I'm going to murder. Like that's their crazy is just full on, you know, it's all or nothing. Yeah, but if you think about most of those shows, you say laxatives in the coffee,
Starting point is 00:26:52 That became, women would then do the antifreeze in the coffee. And is it snapped, like all chicks? Snapped, right, when they snap. Like that show, Snapped. Because it's about snap. It's not about snap. It's about the snap. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:04 So, listen, the reality is, you're right, everyone's crazy. So you've got to find your type of crazy. What crazy you'll tolerate. But, I mean, Ali, you would agree, right? You're crazy. Do I agree that I'm crazy? I'm crazy. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:27:17 See, just the way you said that. What about me? Just keep those eyes. What do you think is crazy? Oh, girl, snap. I have a pen in my hand with a naked lady on it. No, I think that we all have the ability to be crazy, no? Right, but why specifically am I crazy?
Starting point is 00:27:35 Whatever you're doing right now is why specifically. I feel like I'm one of the more sane people in your life. Yeah, but that's not saying much in my life. Right, but you have a lot of, quote, crazy people, and you do crazy things, and you create a lot of chaos in your life. Yes. I am like a calm, I'm the calm to your storm, so why am I the crazy one? You're holding a shiv. Yeah, you're holding, what is that thing you're holding?
Starting point is 00:27:59 It's not a shiv yet. Hey, Rock, we are Klein Alley Show. Get into your news in a moment. Then a brand new hour of the show will officially begin. First, we say good morning to Arlene and Downey. Why are you calling? Hi, for Hello Chicken for the tickets. Ah, you'll be going to Tenderfest because you heard Vanessa demanding more chickens.
Starting point is 00:28:20 And you will be there tomorrow enjoying unlimited chicken tenders. And you get to stick around for the Contender Cup as hosted by Jaleel White, a.k.a. Urkel. Hello? Yep. That's exciting. That's the reaction we're looking for. Let's get into your news now. And then a brand new hour of the show will officially begin.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Grab your Adderall. It's time for ADD News. So I admit I have not really become that familiar with the name Duncan Sheik. But if you were a child of the 90s, you probably remember this song. Nothing left to hide. Really can't be serious. I gotta see why. I say goodbye.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Cause I am barely breathing. I can't hide. Aw, Vanessa. So tribute, I believe, right? The song? Well, no, I mean, now we're paying tribute. We are now paying tribute. Yeah, Duncan Sheik died, and this happened not long ago, kind of just breaking now.
Starting point is 00:29:29 There was this morning, there were some reports that he was in a coma and was stable but in critical condition. Now we're learning that he passed away, 56 years old, technically of cardiac arrest is what I'm hearing from his relatives. He was a kind of one-hit wonder in the 90s. This was his big hit. He started off playing guitar with Lisa Loeb in college. And Lisa said that he was an extremely shy kid who barely even had the confidence to sing in public. And eventually he became this MTV heartthrob.
Starting point is 00:29:59 But he was a one-hitter by choice. All the fame and all the attention was really uncomfortable for him. So he left the music industry. And he instead turned to Broadway, where he won two Tony Awards for Spring Awakening, which was a huge breakout musical, and that came out, I think, in the 2000s. So, obviously, he had a very diverse life
Starting point is 00:30:19 and a diverse career. We're at the Pentagons! And, again, it's not like I really knew this guy very well or followed his career, but, of course, R.I.P. It's sad to know that someone dies that quickly of something like that. The saddest part about this is that you use this man's death to crowbar in some of your Broadway news,
Starting point is 00:30:36 and you always look for reasons. He won two Tony Awards. I understand that. See, there you go again. Yeah, here you go. And I've won none. Just keep bringing up Broadway. I'll look for any reason to bring up Broadway.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I won't even tell you that I saw this musical when it came out. Where's that gong? Yeah. Where's the gong? Okay. That doesn't work in this show. It does work on this show. It only works at home.
Starting point is 00:30:55 All right. Okay. Thank you so much. I guess we'll just move on. I won't go through my other musical theater history. Okay. This is offensive somehow. We've all done it before.
Starting point is 00:31:10 We say, I'm going to put my phone on do not disturb so I can detach from my phone and really focus. Well, according to a new study that does nothing, it doesn't work. In fact, it makes your phone dependency even worse. People who put their phone on do not disturb or put it on silent checked their phones an average of 98.2 times a day, which was double if it was just on regular mode, talking vibration, ring, no do not disturb filters, anything like that. So basically they're saying it can make things worse because the phone FOMO you feel when it's on silent or do not disturb
Starting point is 00:31:44 and you don't know if you're getting messages or not makes you want to pick up the phone twice as much as if you hadn't done anything. No, when I do that, I get the phantom buzz, you know, the phantom vibration. I was going to say that. And I'm just like, what the hell? I could have sworn it vibrated. No, it did not. It's the weirdest thing.
Starting point is 00:32:01 It sucks. I don't know who's behind the phantom vibration, but I feel that multiple times a day. It's troubling. Talk about these. I think it's psychosomatic. You think that it's vibrating when it's not. No, no. You feel it.
Starting point is 00:32:14 You feel the pulse. You feel the buzz. Your body's making that up. It's not making it up. Now, maybe it's a reaction after feeling them for so long now that maybe we've somehow remessed up our nerves or something. Yes. I'll tell you something.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Do you think it's Apple being like, hey, remember me? I think that they're, if you're on Do Not Disturb long enough, you know, like on Spectrum, they have that annoying thing that hits me every Sunday when I'm watching football, and it says, hey, you haven't moved in a while. Are you still watching this? And I'm like, stop judging me, Spectrum. I'm on the couch watching football all day.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Yes, I'm still watching. I think it's like Apple's way of letting everyone know, like, hey, you can't do Not Disturb us. We will disturb when we damn well choose to. Right, exactly. But then you look at the phone, and you go, that's weird. I have no alert here, so where did the buzz come from? And then you kind of get sad that you picked up your phone for nothing.
Starting point is 00:32:58 So then you're like, well, I might as well open Instagram. I mean, I'm here. See what's going on. See what's happening. Might as well start a conversation with somebody. All right. Just in time for the holidays and holiday shopping, toy stores are coming back. Specifically, Toys R Us.
Starting point is 00:33:11 A much-loved chain is planning its biggest expansion since its 2017 bankruptcy. The company plans to open 120 stand-alone stores across the country ahead of the holiday season. One will be at Woodbury Common in Orange County. The new stores come as the toy industry marks its biggest sale spike since 2020. And they're saying, you know, a lot of people want to buy toys, especially kidults. Kids, you know, adults that want to buy kid stuff. And so now they have another, now there's more reason to have a Toys R Us. And there really aren't any toy stores there anymore.
Starting point is 00:33:44 So now's a great time to bring it back. About a year ago, I went to the toy store, the Toys R Us in Camarillo. And it's a, like, full-blown store, not a pop-up. And it was awesome. Yeah, just only toys? We played like for an hour and a half. It was great. Who's the kid of the show?
Starting point is 00:34:01 You. Who bought Kid Sneakers yesterday? Didn't you yesterday go to buy shoes and they sent you to the kids section, Vanessa? I'm not even kidding. This is a true story. Continue, Omar. I thought they didn't like you just playing. Whose shoes?
Starting point is 00:34:20 Kids' shoes. That's who. But I think that's why they stopped was because a lot of people like you, Omar, would just go there and play around and not buy anything. No, we ended up buying some stuffed animals for my kids. But it was awesome because they encouraged it, you know. And we're taking pictures with the dumb giraffe, whatever his name is. Jeffrey. Jeffrey.
Starting point is 00:34:40 Whatever his name is. National treasure. I didn't know he had a name. Of course. Jeffrey the giraffe. Legend. Vanessa knows. I think I went into that store as a kid a bunch of times.
Starting point is 00:34:49 I don't think my parents ever let me buy anything. Same. I do feel like I kind of want to go back there and buy the Power Wheels that I always wanted as a kid and never got. The feeling of getting that ticket and then going behind the cage to get your video game was so great. Yeah, and I don't think a lot of people get to experience that anymore because they just get the boxes that show up on their doorstep, and they don't get to experience the joys of all of those things. Or you just go to a toy section of a store, and it's like a few aisles of fun, and that's it. But Allie's right, though.
Starting point is 00:35:14 All of a sudden, these kids that didn't get stuff when they were kids now have a job, a little bit of disposable income. They're like, I'm going to go buy all the toys I wanted. I'm going to go buy a Power Wheels now that I can't fit in. There are more adults spending money on toys now than ever before. I mean, half the Hello Kitty stuff is being purchased by adults. It's not being bought by kids. And that explains why no one's dating anyone anymore, huh?
