Klein/Ally Show: The Podcast - It's Weirdo & Asshole Night! (FULL SHOW 9.17)
Episode Date: September 17, 2026Today Ally came in with a challenge for the group and Klein came in with a rack of ribs. For Thrifty Thursday, Ally wants all of us to take the No Spend September Challenge: No non-essential spending,... no added subscriptions, no takeout, etc. We're all keeping track of our 'non-essential' purchases for the next two weeks. Will Jake be able to resist buying weird neon posters? Can Vanessa stay off Tiktok shop? Only time will tell. Klein meanwhile spent a lot of money on ribs over the weekend, and he brought a whole rack in to slow-roast during the show. His plan was foiled by a coworker trying to make a baked potato, which sent Klein into a tailspin. In the end, Jake didn't say thank you and Ally ate most of it. We also recapped our Fiesta Siesta yesterday where we finally had the chance to meet Zeke, the #1 contributor to Petty Claims Court. He brought codeine, weed, and showed us his very expensive grill. We also had our first ever legit Boomer winner for Gen Wars!

We'll get into an episode of Klein Alley Show in just a moment, but in the meantime,
let's tell you about our absolute favorite place on the planet.
Yep, that would be San Bernardino International Airport, where you can go through the airport
process without waiting in long lines and overpaying for parking.
Quick connections to the Bay Area and the world, plus ski and snowboard in Provo
from San Bernardino all winter long.
Every other airport, you're going to be in long TSA lines, you're going to be miserable,
you're going to say, oh, I got to get there two, three hours before my flight.
Not at San Bernardino International Airport.
And now we send you on a direct flight into our podcast, which starts right now.
Hey, what's going on, Climbing Alley?
Are you ready?
We're back.
I love Climbing Alley, you little bitch.
Climbing Alley, it's just okay.
Just don't let things bother you too much.
Good morning, everybody.
Hey, what up, Climbing Alley?
Whoa, sweet divot steak, did you see that?
We have a Climbing Alley show.
Let's get this show started.
The show started.
The show started.
We are live in Los Angeles!
Three, two, one!
And here we go.
It's the Klein Alley Show.
Low 6.7, KROQFM in HD Pasadena, Los Angeles, Orange County.
The Sonic Pulse of Los Angeles.
This is the world famous KROQ.
Our new show can officially begin.
Good morning, welcome to our Thursday.
The Pre-Clent is here.
We are the Klein Alley Show, and if you need us, phones, text line, everything's the same as yesterday, 800-520-1067.
You'll leave those numbers if you want to win access to the next four shows happening at the In-N-Out Burger Soundspace here at K-Rock,
which will include some Fontaines, D.C., Paradox, and more.
So win your way into those shows coming up a little bit later this morning and Tenderfest happening on Saturday.
We get you in if you want unlimited chicken tenders from all the best chicken tender places in L.A.
We'll make that happen for you this morning as well.
and the return of Generation Wars.
Bragging rights for your entire generation.
A lot of pressure.
And that's happening this morning.
Just because today's a new show, Allie,
doesn't mean that the controversy doesn't continue from yesterday.
And this was, I guess, as a result of the...
People were heated yesterday about a lot of different things.
So many things.
But I think people were the most heated about the petty claims court battle
that they're still yapping about now.
And it really sucks to lose publicly to your wife on the radio
and have her rub it in your face all day from the moment you get home
until the first thing this morning
where she's just reading DMs coming through
being like, girl, I heard you.
You're speaking my language.
The man's a hoarder, so is mine.
Yeah, it's just so annoying.
And then luckily, there's one guy
that half defended me on the goat line.
Hi, it's Gen X Deuce.
Okay, Klein and his wife.
You're both right and you're both wrong.
A, food expires, don't eat mold and stuff.
But she said trinkets.
That means does not understand value.
My wife says Tringus and Tchotchkes too.
She calls my Joe DiMaggio rookie card worth $1,000 a Tchotchke and throw it away.
So understand value, but also understand mold.
Thank you.
Understand value, understand mold.
We get it.
And I'm not talking about eating moldy food.
That's what Allie does.
I would never do that.
I'm talking about...
Cut off the mold.
It's totally fine.
I'm talking about things, right, that have no value to her, she assumes have no value.
Well, but there's things to her that are valuable that don't have any value to you, like shoes and clothes.
Right, but she would argue those have real-world value.
They have no value to me, and I'm saying if she's going to go ahead and, like, for instance,
this guy brought up, you know, the Joe DiMaggio rookie card he has that's worth thousands of dollars.
To her, she sees it and goes, that's taking up space.
Throw it out.
I mean, it's taking up hardly ever any space.
Well, it's not taking up any space.
You can put it in your pocket.
Right, I get it.
It takes very little space.
It's taking up space in your pocket.
But for some reason, that's a whole thing.
You order.
She called a Joe DiMaggio rookie card a chopstick or a trinket.
I mean, that's not that.
I do understand, after hearing the inner workings of your fridge, why you guys have roaches.
Okay.
It kind of makes sense now.
Nothing to do with the roaches.
I mean, it seems like there's just old food everywhere.
It's not old.
Once again, not old food.
In fact, yesterday, I cracked one of those racks of ribs that I got from Stanley at the Honey Baked Ham.
And at the end of the rack of ribs, there was about four ribs left.
So, they're on a plate.
How many racks of ribs do you have left in the fridge?
I brought another one in today for us.
This is a brand new, unopened rack of ribs.
I have another rack.
I brought a rack.
How many packs are those two?
I ate through one yesterday.
But at the end of the meal, what would you do, Allie, if there's four ribs left on a plate?
What is your move?
What is your move?
I sleep with them.
All right.
Well, that's the answer.
She moved the plate into the sink with the four ribs on the plate.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I know.
That you do not do.
Right.
This is my point.
Leftovers.
And I've trained my wife.
Where were you guys yesterday?
If there is anything left on the plate.
Well, because that example wasn't given.
It's that.
She gave a bagel with cream cheese example.
where a 24-hour-old bagel with cream cheese
was put in your kid's lunch the next day.
That's gross.
Right, that was a true story,
and that's damning evidence to me, sure,
but the reality is what happened last night
is more what I'm talking about,
where there's a plate, there's four ribs,
she sees it on the table,
anyone going to finish this?
I feel like there's something else to this story.
If we called her,
she would have a different version of this.
There's nothing else to this story.
Well, she would probably say,
if I put it in a container,
it'll just sit there and rot.
Right, exactly.
She would say, no one's going to eat it tomorrow
because he's making everyone eat breakfast for dinner,
So that's good.
So let's get the ribs.
And then it's the weekend.
And then you're going to put a giant rack of ribs in your kid's lunch four days from now.
That's right.
How does every kid love a rack of ribs in their lunch?
That's such a big lunch for a kid.
Give them the whole rack.
No PB&J.
Yeah, just eat your ribs, kids, and shut up.
That's what I say.
It's the guy from the office.
If you want Allie's money, you'll have a chance to take it from her in moments.
And it's always sweet when you take El Cheapo's money on a thrifty Thursday.
Call now.
We'll get into that in moments on KROG.
break him up.
Allie's got money,
at least for now,
but that could be yours
and all you gotta do
is call and claim it.
The number is 800-520-1067.
She's working on
the next batch of ADD news,
but of course,
if you can beat her,
five questions,
you get her money
and she gets angry
and she usually yells at you
and calls us
a bunch of stupid assholes.
If I lose unfairly,
if I lose fairly,
I'm happy to take the L.
So if you'd like to call
and claim it,
all you gotta do
is know a thing or two
about what's happening
in the world
and give us a call
and we get you on the air
and you get to battle Allie.
We are still in recovery from our siesta fiesta yesterday,
which I wish had more siesta.
Instead, it was a lot more fiesta.
And here's just a quick recap if you couldn't make it out.
Maybe you make the next one based on what you hear right here.
What's up, Clarence Alley?
It's the Boilock Bros.
Man, what a day.
Descansa was a blast.
All the listeners, all the K-Rock staff, Aaron, Emery,
Justin, the engineer, Ivan, the engineer, Cody Black,
Miles and DJ, George, Mike Olsen, sales lady Becky, sales lady Jamie, and our boys, Sammy and Becky.
These are just all people that actually work here.
They're just going over the list of all the people they met.
And for guys that drink a ton, I mean, I'm talking about, you know, 30 Bud Lights per session.
Oh, great memory recall.
Way better than mine.
It's unbelievable.
I didn't know how.
There's three of those guys.
I don't know.
By the way, most of the names they just said are people that I know they work here.
I do not know who they are.
I don't know.
The first two names they mentioned, I have no idea what they're talking about.
But regardless, they were there.
Man, fun times, and it was just a blast.
But then something magical happened.
We ran into Jake the Nerd and asked if we could drink a couple beers with him in the Nerd Home, and he said yes.
Man, we got to see the back office, the kitchen, the K-Rock studio with Sluggo in there.
Man, we felt like Make-A-Wish kids.
I want a dream come true.
So Jake gave these guys their ultimate fantasy, brought them back, I guess, after the hang.
They came back to K-Rock, and they did some drinking in the nerd hole with Jake.
There's no way that Jake and both of those guys all fit in that room.
They did.
All three of you?
Yeah, easy.
I don't think he's easy.
What was that stank like?
Oh, God.
I didn't smell nothing.
It's funny you mentioned the stank because the Bud Light Bros did bring up the stank of the nerd hole.
And we even got to see old man Jim, Surfer Jay, Ricky Dorely, and Kevin Weaver.
Kevin Wedley is the boss, and they did hit up the boss for a job here, and that was an interesting conversation, supposedly.
I even asked him for a job.
He said no.
hey but real quick why do you guys say jake's narwhal stinks it smelled fine when we were in
there sometimes you don't understand your own smell and if you're so drunk too that you can't
really i think there's a thing with drunk goggles with your nose too yeah and jake loves bringing
the uh the bud light bros into the inner inner inner most inner circle i mean he'll bring them
into anything anything we're doing he just rolls around with the bud light bros and while we're at
bring back a segment
Jake's band
is better than yours.
Yeah, he has good taste in music.
We were jamming out in there.
Mm-hmm.
And the Captain Day
Yeah, I mean, think about it.
They said it didn't smell
and the music he played was good.
They were not in Jake's nerd hole.
And the Captain Day
we went downstairs
and drank in Sammy's office
like, yeah.
That is great.
I love that.
Sammy's like, yeah, come on down here.
Come on in.
The Bud Light Bros came into K-Rock
and just went around drinking
in all of the different offices here, which is wild.
Oh, man.
What a day to remember.
Hashtag grow the show.
Be the Klein Alley Show.
Buh-la-bo.
It is what it is.
We did it.
Love you guys.
I'm glad you had a good time.
Thanks for stopping by.
By the way, I hope they do put a demo together and give it to us.
We could critique it and possibly pass it along to KW.
KW definitely said no, but then said make me a tape, make me a demo.
We would love that.
I would love for you to do that.
Bud Light Bros.
That would be fantastic.
And then we would find out
that we've lost our morning show
to the Bud Light Bros
that we'll be taking over.
Oh, man.
Good morning, everybody.
Ricky Darling, 714-562.
I would listen to that.
I would listen, too.
Can I get a job, Bud Light Bros?
Come on, keep us around.
Yeah, we better get in on this.
Hey, get your nerdy stuff
out of this hole.
This is the beer hole now.
We've got to take a break.
We'll get back in a moment
with five questions about the news.
If you do better than Ali,
you get paid real money.
So call now, 800-520-1067.
That is next.
Foo Fighters, on your KROQ, we are Klein Alley Show.
Every morning we give you opportunities to win stuff from us,
like tickets or access or chicken tenders.
And this morning you get the opportunity to win an extra $100 from Alley.
Right now we say hi to Susanna listening to us in Long Beach from the LBC.
Good morning, Susanna.
Hi, good morning.
Good morning.
If you are smarter, at least a little smarter than Alley,
you will have the opportunity to leave here $100 richer
as she leaves the KROQ studios.
Alley's out wearing her patent-pending lesbian flannel today.
These flannels are getting bigger.
Now she looks like Paul Bunyan.
She's all done up and getting...
There's a blanket.
Allie's going to go chop a couple trees down.
She'll be back in here in a moment.
Actually, she looks more like his ox, to be completely honest.
She's out.
Your round will officially begin.
Here we go.
Allie knows the news.
Baldwin Parkman, nicknamed Monster,
has admitted to stealing what all over Los Angeles?
Flock cameras.
What was he stealing?
Flock cameras.
Flock cameras.
We go to question number two.
Gavin Newsom has passed a new bill that is called the Jay Leno Law.
What exactly is the Jay Leno Law?
Car emissions.
Car emissions.
We go to question number three.
Oh, Jake's calling shenanigans. Answer these questions quicker.
This Starbucks cup, specifically, is now reselling for hundreds of dollars on eBay.
You need an answer.
Snoopy.
Snoopy. That was quick. No shenanigan call there.
Question number four.
Thursday night football is back, baby. Here we go.
Name one of the two teams playing tonight.
Um, I don't know. Lions?
Lions. That was a guess. Good one.
And finally, question number five.
Speaking of football, this NFL player has officially been announced as being involved in a $35 million Ponzi scheme.
Three, two, one.
That's no answer.
That's all right.
You got a few right.
Maybe enough to take Ali's money.
If you're up for the challenge, tomorrow is a $500 Friday.
so I recommend you definitely call tomorrow to play the game
because it's way more profitable for you.
And re-entering now from out there chopping wood, here she is.
Nothing like smelling the mountain air in the morning.
Allie Bunyan.
Question number one, Allie.
A Baldwin Park man nicknamed Monster has admitted to stealing what all over Los Angeles?
Gosh, I guess I'm just going to go with copper wire again.
I feel like that's the thing.
This man has gone old school.
He is a good old-fashioned mail thief.
Oh, cool.
He's been stealing mail.
Mail phishing?
And taking stuff from the USPS.
What's in the mail, dude?
Just a bunch of junk mail.
Excuse me, I got a settlement check for $33 the other day.
Every once in a while.
Wait, they sent a physical check?
Yeah.
What the hell?
Yeah, you got to check that mail, dude.
Something's in the mail.
This guy knows.
Something's in the mail.
Something's in the mail.
There's something there.
We found it.
This guy found it.
There's gold in the mails.
I feel like monster is a terrible nickname for a guy
Yeah, because he sounds like he's stealing body parts from a cemetery or something.
And he's just stealing, like, ValPak savings.
He's stealing mail.
Oh, no, my coupons for Vons.
Was taken by Monster.
Question number two.
Allie's up.
Nope, no one's up.
It's 0-0.
We've got a question two.
Gavin Newsom has passed a law that is called the Jay Leno Law.
What is the Jay Leno Law about?
Yes, I know.
I saw the story, but I haven't read about the law.
Is it how many cars you can own?
Ali said, how many cars you can own.
That's an interesting law.
Well, because he has a ton of cars, right?
Yeah, but it's not about that.
I'll tell you who kind of got it right.
She didn't really give us details, but...
Who kind of got it right?
Well, Susanna said about emissions.
And the law is about emissions, specifically on classic cars,
that they don't necessarily have to get the same smog standards as modern cars,
specifically ones from, like, the mid-'70s through the mid-'80s,
where emissions were known, gave an F.
Johnny was saying that Engineer Justin is excited about this.
Johnny's got the Gay Leno Law.
He has that car line podcast.
Right, right, exactly.
It's a big deal, the car community.
I don't know.
If anyone cares that much about the Gay Leno or the Jay Leno Law,
they're probably rich because they have extra cars.
Right, Gay Leno?
You know.
He knows what we're saying.
She gets the point.
She goes up 1-0 on you, Allie.
So we go to question number three now.
This Starbucks cup is now reselling for hundreds of dollars on eBay.
Is it that honey bear cup?
No, no, that's old school.
No one's talking about that trash anymore.
I'll tell you who got it right.
Susanna, who said the Snoopy Starbucks cup.
Oh, yes.
So now she's up two on you with two questions left.
Oh, God.
Oh, I suck at this.
Allie is about to get rocked in her own world.
Go to question number four.
Thursday night football.
Ah.
It's back.
Name one of the two teams playing tonight.
The Bills.
The Bills is correct.
I'll tell you the other team playing.
The Detroit Lions.
You know who said that?
No.
Susanna.
Said that.
Susanna, you have help there?
I hear you have a cheering squad in the background.
Yeah, this is my boyfriend.
What is going on here?
She sounds excited.
The last time I lost, there was a guy who was clearly cheating,
and now she's got somebody helping her,
and you're just going to let this happen?
There's no problem.
Her boyfriend's back there.
There's no problem?
Did he help?
You said, are you getting help, and she just giggled.
Yeah, that's right.
That's not a mission to guilt.
What kind of standards do we have here?
Do I have help?
Is anyone helping me?
No, but if you're professional help, you're getting a lot of it.
I need it.
Yep, but this woman is just having a good time with her boyfriend, listening to the show.
Well, good for you, Suzette, whatever your stupid name is.
Damn.
Whatever.
Final question, and I don't think it matters anymore because I think Allie's just officially lost.
Speaking of NFL, this player has just been announced as one of the many people
that was involved in a $35 million Ponzi scheme.
Yes, Travis Kelsey.
She didn't get that one.
Allie's on the board.
So Allie got back within one, but it doesn't really matter.
At the end of it all, Susanna.
Wow.
You have done it.
What are you going to do with that extra $100, you and your boyfriend?
Yay.
I'm so excited.
Jeez, it's not every day someone wins.
Allie, what must you shamefully admit over the airwaves of K-Rock?
Go ahead.
My name is Paul Bunyan, and oh, Susanna, you have won.
Congratulations.
Hold on one second.
And claim your money, Allie.
Let's go ahead and write her that check.
Well, how much money did you just get from?
$33.68.
You're down more than that.
We are a Klein Allie show, and you need us.
We're here for you live right now.
But if we're not around and you need that goat line, you can use that.
That number is 844-956-GOAT.
I watched that Jake mess up for a third time at the top of dark on YouTube.
And it's so funny.
Jake, you're such an idiot.
Listen, listen, listen.
Jake felt the need to interrupt the show yesterday by saying, listen.
And then when we listened to him, he had nothing to say.
And then a lot of people have recalled about this.
It's bringing people so much joy that they're re-watching it for the third time.
This guy's talking about re-watching our live stream, which happens apparently in the evening as well.
Not so much live, but it is Klein Alley Show After Dark, which I didn't even know was happening, but apparently people are enjoying it.
Hello, morning crew.
So, y'all were making fun of Jake for cutting in and stammering over his words on yesterday's show.
I think, Omar, you need to find an audio clip to play over Jake, because he sounds exactly like the aliens from Mars Attack.
he sounds just like it so next time he starts stammering just lay over him with that good luck
jake bye for those of you that missed the moment i have it for you right now you gotta listen back
we're gonna listen back to it i think that jake may officially now pass omar is the biggest
stutterer on the show this is from yesterday's show i looked at their touring schedule they
I have a blank.
They have a blackout date here.
I figured it was happening at work.
My guy, that is the art of misdirection.
Just like last year.
You don't know nothing.
You don't know nothing, John.
Then write down in an envelope, seal it, and we'll open it up.
No, no, right now it's too early.
It's only September still.
So you don't know anything.
Hey, he's going to write it down in an envelope.
We're going to seal it when you know, and then we'll open it after it gets announced.
Listen.
Jake, Jake, why would you cut into a perfectly good conversation?
Well, because I thought you were going to take it from there.
Because you didn't finish your song.
That's just a sampling of what you may have missed yesterday.
Actually, it's not that bad.
It's not that bad.
It was so much worse than I remembered it being.
Hear it again.
It's not that bad.
You know, you should redo.
Remember how we used to do that outro with Corky the Pig?
Or replace Omar with Omar Al?
Yeah, you got to redo it with Jay.
Oh, man.
Because this was a classic for a while.
They feel that
He's got a right down the envelope
on the ceiling
Every reason to be shocked
I said listen
and you guys finally did
It is shocking
when people actually
listen to you on this show
And that's our fault
We should have known better
than to listen to anything
Jake said
You should have just
trampled on him
like we always do
Usually when he says listen
that's when we turn his mic off
That's what we should have done
That's code for don't listen.
But yeah, I'm glad that that brought so many people so much joy.
That's part of the reason we're here.
Our misery becomes your pleasure.
That seems to be one of the common themes around these parts.
And our disabilities.
That's absolutely true.
You can't laugh at Jake because he's a handicapped.
So that makes you a terrible person.
We can laugh at him, though, because we all work together.
So technically that's allowed, I think.
Yeah, it's fine with HR, right?
Something like that.
Clown Alley Show on KROQ.
Talking a moment with the ADD News.
and you don't want to miss a moment of the show
because we start giving you things.
And you also could miss a moment like this.
And now, a moment with Allie.
You got Pierce the Veil and Dia de los Duet...
Jeez. Dia de los Duet...
Deftones.
Rolls right off the tongue.
That was a moment with Allie.
And then a brand new hour of the show will officially begin.
We have access for you today multiple times
to get into the next four shows happening
at the In-N-Out Burger Sound Space at K-Rock,
which, if you're into the music,
that means you get to see four amazing bands
and a very intimate venue.
If you're into the food, you get four In-N-Out burgers
without having to wait in a 25-minute drive-thru line.
So you got that going for you as well.
And that'll all be happening later this morning.
And plus, we'll get you into Tenderfest happening on Saturday
with some access for unlimited tendies.
You can turn that two- or three-tendie situation
into an unlimited tendie situation this weekend,
and we'll give you that chance coming up.
But right now, let's get into your news.
Grab your Adderall.
It's time for ADD News.
There's something satisfying about seeing rich people get scammed,
especially when it's somebody like Travis Kelsey,
who has many, many, many millions of dollars and has a lot going for him.
He got conned by a guy who called his company SwiftArc,
which means that Travis Kelsey is either confused or just dumb.
But here's what happened.
It's a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme that ensnared Kansas City Chiefs star
and Taylor Swift's new husband, Travis Kelsey.
Sid Jalohar defrauded Kelsey and other investors,
including professional athletes, out of more than $30 million.
Through his investment company, Swift Dark Capital,
they said he spent millions of his victims' dollars on a lifestyle
that almost no one in this district could afford.
Staying at five-star hotels, flying across the country on private jets,
and dining at the finest restaurants.
And this guy pled guilty and is getting 11 years in prison,
which I feel like is almost worth it.
11 years, but he won't serve 11 years.
Right.
Because you'd have to imagine 11 years probably out.
Six, eight.
I mean, it could be as early as three, I would think.
You know, if it's a...
If you've gotten all this money.
It's kind of a minimum security thing.
Now, he's probably going to owe.
He's going to be in debt.
He's going to have to pay back.
He's figured out how to pay these people back.
Another scam.
Even though the...
Right, she's got to start another Ponzi scheme.
Well, you know what I think who paved the way for this is Anna Delvey.
That woman who basically just scammed everyone.
She was like that fake heiress.
Yeah, but that's been going on forever.
Yes, but I think these high-profile people,
Yes, they did it successfully for many years and kind of exposed that a lot of rich investor types, they don't really ask enough questions.
And then also with that woman that went to jail for the pill, the fake blood test that she made.
Oh, right, right.
So all these people invest without really doing a whole lot of background checking.
You would think this guy is not doing his research.
You know this song, sing along.
Yeah, I mean, that guy sounds like a good savvy investor.
I showed up in boots and ruined the Niners' affair.
The last one to know.
We were the last one to show.
We were the last one they thought they'd see there.
He's probably asking his guy.
Surprised he doesn't get scammed more often.
I mean, you should look at all of his other investments.
They're probably all scams.
I know.
Is he still going?
He's going to go for the next one.
So Costco can be overwhelming for some or a place of comfort for others.
Regardless, if you have a Costco membership, it is a cheap place to hang out, especially in this economy, which is why it's developing a bit of a social scene.
Costco is becoming a hangout for a lot of groups of people.
People are going on dates there because, hey, you can pick out some flowers.
You can go treasure hunting for little deals.
You can get lunch at the food court.
Then you can play that one arcade game that's on display.
You know what I'd like to do?
I've thought about this.
People say, what will you do when this radio show goes away?
I want to be like an unofficial tour guide at Costco.
Like a Sherpa, but instead of bringing people up the mountain,
I just want to bring people to Costco for the first time.
Sounds comparable to the radio salary.
Yeah, it's about the same.
I think I could do better at the Costco gig, perhaps.
Especially with tips.
Now that the churros are coming back, I think it's a big time to get involved.
Dude, I'm going to go In-N-Out Manager.
I just found out they make like $200,000 a year.
That's another great opportunity as well.
I would look so good in that little safety pin apron.
You wouldn't look that good in it.
I mean, I look a little bulky.
But you can also wear Doc Martens at work.
I just think there's a lot of people that are overwhelmed.
I know we all go there regularly, so it's nothing for us.
But I think a lot of people have never been to Costco before.
Or they're just too freaked out.
They go inside, it's overwhelming, they leave.
That's me.
I hate it.
Vanessa, I'm going to take you around.
I'm going to Sherpa you through.
That's a place that every time I have to go, I'm like, okay, put on your headphones.
Make sure it's like noise reduction.
Like, why can anyone just walk in one direct?
Like, people are...
People are meeting there.
It's a good meet-cute for you.
You can meet-cute over meet.
No, there's no meet-cute there.
If anything, in my brain, I want to punch everyone.
There's meet-cute and there's meet, just like Klein said.
But also, people are going to Costco to meet people.
College, you know, universities are creating meet-up groups at Costco
so that they can get to know each other.
They can just, you know, mill about, hang out in the food court.
Moms, our mom groups are doing Costco meetups.
It's like a little social gathering.
It's the worst place.
It's not the worst.
It is the worst place.
It's the best place.
It's always peak hours.
There are no off hours.
I try it.
My wife goes on Sundays.
I'm like, what are you doing?
And then I decide to go, like, on a Tuesday, and I'm thinking, what am I doing?
It's so packed all the time.
You've got to go sat right at 10 a.m.
And also, guys, what about the parking situation?
That's a whole thing, too.
That's not a big deal.
Just don't try to park too close.
Go far.
What's the upside of Costco here?
Everything.
Everything.
Everything's the upside.
Everything.
I will say I'm not a Costco food court person.
You can't maneuver.
You have to wait in front of people going so slow.
You guys are such wheeze, man.
The hot dogs are $1.50 with a drink.
What is wrong with you people?
Yeah, so you can get lunch for $3.
That's separate.
I'm talking about inside.
The psychology is two things.
One is I think people still feel, even though anyone can get a membership,
It's not hard.
You don't need to get approved.
I think that people feel, not you, Jake.
Jake's on the list.
I think people feel, especially if they're looking for a place that's like a little bit,
very slightly exclusive.
I mean, it's not.
I'm a member of, you're a member of something.
So you go, we'll meet at Costco.
And someone goes, oh, you have a membership there?
That's impressive.
Maybe you got one of them black cards.
Even more impressive, right?
It's like you wearing a members only jacket.
It just says members on it.
That's right.
That's impressive.
Wear that to Costco.
Double member up.
Watch out, ladies.
Vanessa, have you been to that little optometry area?
No, I don't go there.
That's a nice place with the glasses.
It's not crowded in there.
Vanessa, let's coordinate.
I'll push you in the car.
You can sit in the top part, and I'll push you around.
She had such fun.
I'll give you a full Costco experience.
Also, Klein, you would like to know this.
Costco is going to be on DoorDash and Uber Eats.
So if you want a Costco chicken delivered to your door in under an hour, that can be done as well.
I like the experience.
You like going.
I actually went to Costco just to get a chicken last night, and going at 6 p.m. is a great time.
There you go, Omar.
There's your answer.
6 p.m.
And then finally, I don't know why, because of everything we just talked about,
but for some reason, men are staying single longer.
They are not getting married like they used to.
According to the Institute for Family Studies,
the number of single men is now north of 30 million,
which is up nearly 50% from 25 years ago.
The number of married men, meanwhile, has fallen at the same time.
Social scientists have been trying to pinpoint why the number of single guys is growing.
Some argue that men don't have strong male role models anymore,
More and others flame video games and social media.
So what do you think is the reason?
Bitches be cray.
Because bitches be crazy?
Or because of the incel community that's like, hey, let's all gang together online and talk about how we don't have sex with women and we're mad about it?
I think guys can satisfy their needs now more than ever before, easier than ever before, without putting in the effort.
And it does feel that to, at least for me, because I wasn't...
How do you satisfy your needs? What are you talking about?
sexual needs.
Well, we know you're talking about sexual needs.
Yeah. No, it's not the same
at all. It's not satisfying
in any way. It's not the same. That's why they're all
going crazy, like clavicular.
But I'm telling you right now, I think that guys,
especially with everyone's creating their own
bot girlfriends. That's you,
dude. No, it's not me. Everyone.
Everyone's doing it, Omar. Everyone's doing it.
Johnny, are you doing it?
I mean, I'm not doing it, but
I think the reason guys aren't getting married, because
It's like you marry somebody and a divorce, they take half of your stuff.
Who the hell wants that?
Right.
My question is, if the guys aren't getting married, what are the girls doing?
Aren't they also not getting married?
Allie's hoping this is a big lesbian recruitment thing.
Come to the dark side.
I've got plenty of flannel.
Allie's hoping there's room for two in that flannel.
Oh, yeah.
Cozy up.
There's room for four in that flannel.
I like the flannel.
New hour of the show starts next.
This is the world famous K-Rock.
Good morning.
Welcome to you.
Some K-Rock.
We are Klein Allie Show.
It is the pre-quin, so welcome to that.
And if you're into the breakfast-for-dinner sort of thing,
make it a BF Thursday as we celebrate together,
eating bacon strips for dinner.
That is Allie over there.
Hi.
I'm Kline.
There's DJ Omar Khan.
You know him as Jake the Nerd.
What's up?
Also known as Jake Z-Nerd.
Listen.
And in the back, you've got Postmaster Johnny and Vanessa
taking them calls at 800-520-1067.
Ginger Justin keeping us afloat on the YouTube stream
if you want to watch along.
There we are right there on YouTube in the flesh and flannel as we do the show.
This hour, El Cheapo will be checking in for a Thrifty Thursday if you'd like to save some money
or laugh at just how pathetic her excuses and her plans are to save a couple of bucks are.
It's getting out of control, I think.
Excuse me, I lied about having a AAA membership yesterday to get a discount,
and I plan to follow through on that somehow, some way.
Didn't you lie about being a sibling so you could stay in an Airbnb without having to pay money?
I was the bride's sister all weekend, yes.
It's like, how do you keep up with all of these?
You know what?
You should think it's fun.
You like to live life on the edge.
You have to pay per person at some of these Airbnbs.
So, yeah, we lied about how many people are at the Airbnb.
So what?
So what, did you have to, like, hide the whole time?
I didn't realize that the landlord or the host lived right underneath the Airbnb.
So I didn't realize we were going to have to answer so many questions about it.
Like a bunker?
She lives, like, under, yeah, like, on the main underneath floor.
She's a go-for.
And she was like, so who is who again?
and I was like, well, I'm Brianna's sister
and I'm from Indiana.
That's right.
Why did you have to be a whole different character?
Because I was a last minute addition
and I was just kind of visiting,
coming in and out, not really staying there.
Did you have an accent?
You know, I had a twang.
I did have a bit of a twang,
but I live in California now.
That was a whole...
A lot of background there.
We weren't giving her way too much information.
Wait a minute.
So you get an Airbnb
and there's a rule about how many people can stay there.
Well, I didn't realize that some places,
the price goes up if you say like eight people
are staying there versus five.
So we said five because that's less money.
Okay, but just because you're an extra person,
even if you're the sister or whoever the hell you were,
what does it matter?
You're still another person.
No, there was a whole story about why we were there
because grandma's plans fell through.
So we had to stay at the last minute.
Was this always the plan going in?
No, once we saw her and she was asking questions,
she was like, wait, are all of you staying here?
And I was like, well, no,
that wasn't the plan originally honey but uh mama had a problem she's in the hospital so i can't
stay with her so now i think i gotta stay here for maybe just a night or two no big deal anyway
that's my wife katie over there we don't like a marriage but we're dealing with it and then you
know the whole thing just to say what would it have been if you just paid her for an extra person
i think it would have been extra two or three hundred oh man i just didn't realize i was gonna
have to keep it up all weekend and then anybody else who visited the airbnb we would have to have
a little side conversation with them ahead of time
to make them aware of the story
so that they could keep it straight as well.
That sounds exhausting.
Yeah.
I mean, that's just crazy.
It was exhausting, but also saved 200 bucks.
Right.
Well, there you go.
Worth it.
Laughing all the way to the bank.
That's what I'm doing.
If you like to go and drink at the bar,
there's a night that apparently,
according to bartenders,
is the worst night of the week.
when it comes to dealing with people and i'm curious because jake is our resident bar fly
on the show he's at a bar most nights of the week and he flies around most nights yeah that's right
and uh so the the question is we'll get to the answer in a moment with some clickbait
but according to bartenders what night brings out the worst collection of people they have a pretty
much unanimous answer for this and we will come back with that after this on kroq as we solve
all of the Internet's biggest riddles together with your clickbait Internet design.
Two reasons and two reasons only.
Clickbait, masturbate.
We can only do one of them on the radio.
We've tried both, but only one of them seems to be acceptable.
So it's time for clickbait.
Here we go.
Bait.
All right.
According to bartenders, this is the night of the week that they claim is the weirdest
and oftentimes worst night of the week, you know, as it is people that go to the bar.
They're talking about the actual people that are there on this particular night of the week is almost always a weird-ass crowd, a Wild West sort of crowd, and the one that they usually like the least.
So what night of the week is it?
You know, I think I'm going to guess that it is a Sunday night because that is the biggest crossover between weekend people and regular weekly drink people.
The people who don't have to work tomorrow because they go to the bar every single night.
That's just their routine.
But also mixed with people who are like they don't want the weekend to be over.
They still want to drink.
So it's like a weird group mix of people on a Sunday at a bar.
The only reason I would have a hard time believing it being Sunday is just because there's usually Sunday night football on.
I would imagine that brings a lot of people to the bar as well.
So they're fans, but maybe they're the people.
But then there's also regular bar flies there.
That's right.
The regular bar crowd, not during football season.
So what is the night of the week, Omar?
And then we'll go to our resident bar expert, Jake, who is at the bar seven nights a week.
Yeah, I'm going to speak from experience.
I'm going to agree with Allie just because when I worked at the Denny's, my Denny's that I worked at actually had a bar.
And I remember every Sunday night for, I'm going to say, maybe six months, Kiefer Sutherland was there.
And he used to get S-faced.
And sometimes we would have to kind of escort him out.
And also Felipe Esparza would always stop in on a Sunday.
I would serve him.
And also Angeline, I don't know exactly why, but when she would come in and I would serve her, it would always be on a Sunday.
And Sunday always had weird vibes.
I'm not sure exactly what it was because I think Friday, Saturday, the bartenders are busy, right?
They're too busy to really be judging anybody who's in the bar.
Exactly.
And then on Sundays, things kind of slow down and things just get weird.
You know, it's funny because I think about all the times I've gone to Vegas, and usually Vegas is a Friday, Saturday night thing back Sunday.
But the few times that I've stayed on the Sunday night, I've always thoroughly loved the Sunday night.
I think the most underrated, most fun nights I've had in Vegas are the Sunday night nights.
Because I think it's an unexpected party.
Maybe.
So, I mean, but that's different.
That's Vegas.
And then we're talking about just regular bars.
All right, Jake, you have more bar experience this week than most of us have had in the last year.
Yeah.
So, what night are you there?
And that'll help us answer this question.
Well, I've been there every night, like you said.
Yeah.
So, what's your answer?
I'm going to say Monday night, because that's the night when you get the most degenerates.
Those are the nights, like, after the whole weekend, they're still not done drinking,
they still need another day.
Monday night is the weirdest vibe.
Yeah, that was going to be my other pick, is a Monday night.
It's like, hey, I know that everyone else just had their weekend, but my drinking week
is just starting.
And these are the characters, when the real characters come out.
I would have thought like a Wednesday, because that's like in the middle of nothing.
That's nothing land right there.
There's no football on Wednesday, so those are people that are just out there.
They can't wait one more day until the weekend kind of unofficially starts on a Thursday.
So, like, I would have thought that would have brought out the real,
the people that, like, really can't get enough.
They need to go out.
If someone's like, hey, let's go, we're going to meet for a drink on a Wednesday.
God, that's hump day, man.
You earned it.
Yeah, all right, well.
Well, that's like after you've been drinking for the weekend,
You've had two days of sobriety, Monday, Tuesday.
By Wednesday, you're already jonesing to get the party going again on a Wednesday.
Bartenders were asked this question, and most of them all agreed that the night of the week
where they would get the strangest collection of people that were, quote,
cut from a different cloth was on a Sunday night.
Oh, wow.
Ali and Omar nailed it.
And they said the Sunday bar crowd is almost always the weirdest.
They call it the Wild West of the nights.
a lot of times they would look to not work that night
if given the opportunity to not.
Wow, because you have hair of the dog people
from the night before.
You've got new drinkers.
Then you've got the religious people.
One bartender said,
we've always called Sunday nights
weirdos and asshole night.
That's just one of the...
It's not as much of a good ring as happy hour.
It doesn't roll right off the tongue,
but that's what they've always called it.
We should do an event.
There's a lot of theories.
Of weirdos and assholes.
Yeah, there we go.
That'll be our next event.
happening at Descanso.
It's going to be on a Sunday night.
It's going to be called
Weirdos and Asshole Night.
So there you have it.
Some clickbait.
We're back in a moment
when we return.
El Cheapo has a challenge.
It's Thrifty Thursday.
And I don't think any of us
are going to like this challenge,
but she's very excited
to share with us.
I think you'll thank me later.
So we'll get into that
after this on KROQ.
Allie, smell my fingers real quick.
I know you're a big fan of this game.
Oh, will do.
Give him a sniff.
What do you got?
You got anything over there?
Mmm, I smell barbecue.
Light barbecue.
Yeah, you got that coming through.
Guys, I got our ribs cooking there in the company kitchen right now.
Rack of ribs.
Ate something in the morning.
Seems appropriate.
Hey, I'm with you.
I'll eat as many ribs as I can.
Any sides?
No, I did not bring sides.
What?
Where are the sides?
Just ribs?
Jeez, man.
Where are the mashed potatoes?
I asked Jake if he could help me find foil,
and he looked in one of the drawers in his nerd hole and goes,
Nope, don't have any.
Sorry.
Use it all.
Yeah, well, I just walked out there and found some,
So thanks for the help, dude.
I mean...
I did look.
And you specifically bought those in for Jake, right?
Yeah, of course.
He said...
He said he brought foil, too.
He walked in and said, where are my ribs?
My ribs.
He walked in this morning and said, where are my ribs?
He proceeded to pick up all the other snacks and food I brought myself and started looking
at everything and shaking it.
Going, are these my ribs?
Where's my ribs?
You're supposed to bring them on Tuesday.
I heard you ask him for the foil, and I didn't even see Jake leave his office or open his
door.
He didn't.
He looked right next to him.
He didn't see it.
This is the same thing...
I used to have some in here.
Okay, great.
Anyway...
At the same time when we went to Aftershock, I said, is there a place where you can go get a COVID shot or get some medication?
Looks to the left, looks to the right.
No, I don't think so.
No place.
You know, you could walk outside.
Remember the time we needed scissors?
I did walk outside.
We needed scissors.
Jake couldn't do something because he didn't have scissors because they weren't immediately next to him.
Do you realize we're asking you to look?
For foil, like outside my office?
Yeah, like where it would be in the kitchen.
Maybe you could help out since we're doing a show here.
Maybe you could look around.
I'm literally between doing the show, rushing out there to make your goddamn ribs.
I don't know what's happening here.
He's stressed.
Oh, yeah, I'm doing stuff.
Ask Johnny.
Oh, my God.
Well, anyway, they're slow roasting now for the next 30.
Then they'll be ready to go.
30 minutes?
I'm going to slow roast them for 30.
I'll flip them, and then I'll boil both sides.
Do like a broil situation.
One can be cooked in like two hours?
They'll be done by dinner.
Oh, God.
I'm not going to be here.
Don't worry.
We don't get them anyway.
Just Jake's going to get them.
Okay.
It is Thrifty Thursday.
El Cheapo likes to come in here and brag about how good she is at being cheap,
even though we all think it's kind of sad and pathetic.
And anyway, she's got a challenge for us, so listen closely.
It's time to talk to the kingpin of cheap.
Here she is, El Cheapo.
You like to make fun of me because if there's any extra money left over,
it goes right into my savings account.
I don't blow money on things that I don't need.
And did you know anything about No Spend September?
That's made up.
The No Spend September Challenge.
It is not made up.
No Spend September?
No Spend September.
Are you willing to take the No Spend September Challenge with me?
It's half over already.
Yeah.
This has been a very expensive month for me already.
I got a stupid dog running around my house ruining stuff.
I also could not participate until now because I've been doing a lot of traveling.
However, it's still good to make up for lost time.
What the hell is No Spend September?
Until the end of September, starting today, I challenge everybody on this show and everybody
listening to partake in the challenge only pay for essential things so you're covering your bills
rent mortgage whatever utilities basic groceries you eliminate any other spend no dining out no
takeout no clothes no coffee shop runs no impulse online shopping from your couch all of that is
done no new subscriptions avoid signing up for anything new and for you Klein I encourage you
to go through your bills
and realize that you are paying
for a lot of things
that you don't even utilize.
So you could probably save
a ton of money
just by taking 10 minutes
to go through
and figure out
that you're still paying
for JibJab.
This is a meaningless thing.
There's a no-spend October, too.
There's a no-spend every month.
I just looked it up.
Get ready for no-spend November.
Oh, forget all that stuff.
Well, the holidays you can't.
I'm sorry.
I couldn't get you a gift
this year for Christmas.
I was participating
in no-spend December.
Let's do no-spend December.
Perfect.
No presents this year.
She doesn't want to do no presents.
Yeah, no presents.
Why don't you want to do no spend September, Vanessa?
I have to buy myself some running shoes like today.
Sorry, you can't.
You can make shoes right now.
Duct tape and tissue boxes.
For my life, this doesn't work for my life.
Okay, Vanessa, you can eliminate TikTok shop for the next month
and probably save a lot of money
because a lot of the things that you buy on there are junk.
I fake shop on TikTok.
My bag is full.
I bought nothing.
She puts it all in the cart and doesn't actually...
Just to look at it.
This is a great time to use what you already own.
Wait as long as you can to go grocery shopping.
Make sure you've used every single pantry item.
Clean out that old can of beans that you haven't used in two years.
Make sure it's all used up before you buy again.
It's like a total reset for your house.
And people are doing this...
People have supposedly been doing this all month long?
Yeah, it is a popular financial reset that people do every single year.
And you have not been doing it because you were traveling and then you went to a wedding?
Yeah, this month has been hard because we had planned travel and all that crap for Labor Day weekend and for the wedding.
Did you give that wedding gift yet or are you trying to throw this?
I did, I did, yes.
What did you end up giving for the wedding gift?
I did $200 for their baby fund.
They're trying to have a baby.
A baby fund?
Mm-hmm.
What the hell is that about?
What are you funding?
Them to have a baby.
They're two women.
They have to do...
Oh, got it.
I forgot.
They have to spend money on it.
Man, that ain't cheap.
Yeah, it's not cheap.
I'll throw in a load if you want, if that helps.
You know, I'll write a note.
Yeah, let them know.
That's free.
Of course.
Yeah, I also encourage you specifically, Klein, to find free fun.
Swap paid outings for walks and home movie nights or free local community events.
Oh, those are the worst.
I think there's some, like, art walk happening near where I live.
And I just remember thinking, don't want to walk down the street this day.
I'll do my fart walk right by the art walk.
Yeah, a fart walk, I'm on board with.
But the art walk, forget it.
No, you're talking to a guy who paid for dog yoga, puppy yoga.
Yeah, my other suggestion for you would be just return the dog
because that's not going to be helpful for you at all.
You've already spent a lot of money on this puppy that you really don't even want,
and I think now is the time to just turn around.
You know, I'm glad you brought up this no spend September thing.
I wasn't going to mention this.
I had reached out to someone about helping me to train this dog,
so this one's actually trained properly,
and I asked the person, what do you charge?
And you know what they said?
I don't charge.
i i i swear to you read the email i don't charge for this i will accept gifts and or donations
if you find that appropriate but i do not charge happy no spend september baby hope you like ribs
uh the gift of ribs and foil hey who would like to paint ribs huh it's a beautiful gift uh you
know 714 pointed out that apple has been actively trying to combat no spend september for years with
their Apple events.
Of course.
When is that flip phone?
7-1-4, no spend September.
We have new iPhones to buy.
Yeah, I got to get that flippy thing.
When's that come out?
818 Alley, can I still buy weed?
Yes, that is deemed essential.
Weed is essential, but also I think if you look hard enough, if you really do smoke weed.
You could probably find stuff.
You could find weed.
I have done such a good job lately because I've just been too lazy to go back to the
store.
I just go into like all my hiding places and I always find weed.
It's crazy.
That's the thing though with groceries and with everything, right?
Think about how creative you get when you don't want to go to the grocery store and
you have to make food.
This is how BF Thursday was born.
Yeah, but yesterday you guys publicly in front of my wife shamed me over these airwaves
because I try to keep things in the fridge to do exactly what you're talking about
so I can throw together a fun Sunday jambalaya mix-mish-mash of things that have been building up all week long.
And you guys said, throw it out, throw it out, throw it out.
And this is exactly what you're saying to do right now.
Yes, but her point was that you don't actually ever eat it.
So you have to make a point to eat it.
Sundays is all about that giant, crazy, weird-ass buffet that's just a combination of a leftover taco, a slice of pizza, meatball.
This is the time for all those weird freezer items that have been stuck in the back.
You know, I bought corndogs from Costco, I think, three years ago.
I still got a few of those.
I'll bring them in.
This is the time.
It is a total reset.
So how many, where are we now?
What is today?
September 17th.
So that's what we're talking about.
So let's just do two weeks.
We got half of September left.
And who could spend the least?
Who can spend the least?
And we have to, it's important to log all of our purchases.
So what doesn't count?
Bill, any bill doesn't count.
Any bill, that doesn't count.
What about credit card bill?
Ka-ching.
Well, no, you have to pay your credit card bill.
No, I can pay the minimum.
No, because then you've got all the interest, right?
All right, so credit card bill, all bills don't count.
Yeah, but your credit card bill, you also are going to, you don't spend frivolously on your credit card.
That's what credit cards are for, frivolous, frivolous spending.
If you spend anything beyond an essential bill, you need to write it down.
And I want to know if that is a verified purchase accepted by me.
Uh-huh.
And the goal would be to...
Buying mass amounts of honey-baked ham and ribs, I would offer that to be a non-essential purchase.
We went into that honey-baked ham shop not expecting to buy anything.
Right.
And how much did you spend?
Hundreds?
Over, close to a hundred.
Yeah, that is not essential.
You didn't need to buy that.
Vanessa has been planning on buying running shoes.
That's something that she's been tracking and planning to buy.
That's something that was a planned purchase.
But that's what's on your feet right now.
You got shoes.
I think this is the number one thing people...
Yes, I cannot run with these shoes.
What do you have on?
What do they look like?
Vans.
Flats.
Well, run with them.
What are you kidding me?
Caveman used to run around barefoot all the time.
They'd run away from tigers.
You're fine in vans.
Nah.
That's my point, is that we convince ourselves almost every time we make a purchase.
That's why it's a challenge.
Right.
Okay, so that's at the end of the month.
We can all present.
Here's how much I spent.
This is Jake.
No more concert t-shirts.
No more weird posters.
All I buy is beans.
Patchouli.
Yeah, all that stuff.
And I want to see who has spent the least.
I think, believe it or not, even though Jake probably spends the least on an actual monetary number,
he spends the most on frivolous, useless nonsense.
He overspends the most, beyond his means.
So, yes, you do only buy beans.
That's true.
But then you also will see a weird blacklight poster on Facebook Marketplace.
And next thing you know, you got struck in a top hat on your wall.
That was a bargain.
That's not, though.
And I feel like Omar, you know, by the way, this shouldn't be even Stephen Alley because some of us have kids and it's more expensive.
Yes, but think about when you go out to the grocery store, when you go out and they say, hey, can I have a snack?
Hey, can I have a hiss?
It's a no, no.
Now we just say yes because we want to shut them up.
They're growing kids.
Bring them from home.
You got goldfish at home.
I will tell my children tonight, with audio recording, that we are now entering no-spend September.
No squishies.
And I will get kicked in the face.
I'm telling you right now.
Are there birthday parties coming up?
Yeah, they have birthday parties this weekend.
No-spend September.
Every year for their birthday.
Oh.
Man, that is going to go off a break.
Tomorrow night, I'm going to the Dodger game.
I'm going to spend no money when I'm there.
How is that?
I've already purchased my tickets and my parking, but I'm not going to spend it.
That's already like $1,000.
Yeah.
But you know what's interesting?
That's the most spend.
Since I bought these tickets, the price has doubled.
And I could make $500 selling those tickets and staying home.
Is this like for a bobblehead night?
I don't know what the hell it's for.
If you get to make money, can you count that against frivolous spending?
I didn't like spend that.
Well, that would counteract the savings.
Like if I started whoring or something?
That's girl math right there.
Yeah, yeah, that's girl math.
I have a free $500.
How am I going to spend it?
Whoring is girl math.
I'm going to go to TJ Maxx, baby.
Or like when you return something, well, you made money.
No, you already spent it.
Welcome to your no-spend September challenge, which starts now because we couldn't possibly do an entire month.
So we're all starting at zeros across the board.
Let's see who can end the month with zeros.
That's from El Cheapo on camera.
We are Klein and Alicia.
If you need us, you can call.
You can interact.
The number to join us is always 805-20-1067.
There's a bunch of different stuff here on the GOAT line that you probably want to hear about and some stuff you don't care about like this.
Bro, I'm telling you, I'm gay plus.
It's like extra, you know?
It's like gay personified, you know?
He says, that's Pantyhose Greg, he says he now,
I thought he was fluid or whatever the word is,
but I think he is technically now gay plus.
Which basically means I'm open.
He's full-blown gay.
Also, I don't know if you knew this about our very own Pantyhose Greg,
but he is a superstar that you may recognize from television.
Go ahead in the alley.
Pantyhose Greg here, nicely stoned.
And, you know, I used to be on television.
Yeah, in the 80s, mid-80s, 85.
I was on six episodes of...
I was cops on.
Isn't that right?
When it was sick and it's 80.
I'll let you guess which role I played in the show Cops.
But I was on six...
I was being pinned down in Orlando.
All doing gay plus things at a truck stop.
I was on six episodes of Dick Clark's American Band.
I believe the dick part.
So he claims that that was his claim to fame.
What was American Bandstand again?
I don't know.
I think that was before my time.
But I think it was like Star Search or any of those other shows.
No, no, they had like bands playing and they had like just people dancing.
Oh, that's what, it was just a dance party?
Yeah.
And the bands would play and they'd put that on TV and people would watch that?
Yeah, it was weird.
And he was in that.
Was that like the white version of Soul Train?
Kind of, yeah.
Soulless Train?
Yeah.
That's an American bandstand.
That sounds wide enough.
What do you think we should go with?
Soulless chair or American bandstand?
Well, anyway, he was dancing there, I guess, in six episodes.
I mean, that makes sense.
Kind of tracks for him, I would say.
I guess.
I'd love to see footage of that.
It's got to exist somewhere.
And then when they arrest him, he goes, do you know who I am?
What's more impressive of a credit?
The fact that Jake used to be in the background of Judge Judy in the courtroom scenes where he would sit there and watch the trials.
Front row.
Excuse me.
On a great episode, too, the sack tap happened.
soon. Which one? Sack tap.
What's that? It's where some little
kid hit some other boy in the junk
and broke his dong.
Another boy? No,
another boy. That was on Judge Judy?
Yeah. A boy took another
boy to trial for doing a sack tap?
Sack tap. Hit him in the junk really hard
and hurt him bad or something.
And they're like, who looks like he would go to this trial
and be in the front row? That's me.
Are you on the side of the defense or the prosecution?
I forget who they put me behind.
Put him behind the sack tap kid
He looks like he'd defend a good sack tap
So, Allie, seriously
What is a more impressive credit?
Six episodes of American Bandstand
In the 85
Or front row of the Judge Judy sack tap trial
Or me, who danced naked
With Philip Seymour Hoffman
And Paul Thomas Anderson
But it was cut
I was not even in the movie
And I had a merkin glued onto my vagina
Allie did have to wear a merkin
Taped to her vagina
And that was crazy because she already had so much natural growth.
Yeah, I know.
I can't believe they needed more.
They put the merkin on it to try to, you know.
I actually donated some of mine to some of the other ladies.
Ellie provided the merkin for wardrobe.
She won an Academy Award for that.
You know, I think that Jake's credit is more impressive.
How about this?
I'm going to throw another one in the mix.
Omar, weren't you in that Hole in the Wall show on Fox?
Oh, yeah.
That's cool.
He was on a game show.
And then you were on Shark Tank.
Well, that's clearly the most impressive because that's the only show of the ones we've mentioned
that anyone even knows about still.
You don't win, it's not a game show
It's an investment show
Right, but did you get an investment?
Yeah, did you get a deal?
I don't remember how it ended
You do remember, you didn't get anything
I don't recall
Yeah, I got paid
Yeah, we all made money
I got paid in Red Bull and Donuts
Right, and we got either food or money out of it
You spent money
Well, Vanessa, as someone who is not easily impressed
You've just heard five different people
You've actually all impressed me and I'm jealous
Because I want to be on a show, but tell me
You got invited to be on a show
You're going to be on the World Cup show representing...
Nah, I don't want that show.
I want a scripted show.
Continue.
You're not going to be on a scripted show.
I was also on Entourage numerous times.
All right, all right, listen.
Jake wins.
Thank you.
Jake doesn't win because we've never seen him on Entourage any time,
and I've seen that entire show.
So what is more impressive?
Ali getting cut out of a movie,
pantyhose Greg dancing on American Bandstand,
Jake in the sack tap trial...
Front row.
...on Judge Judy where he had no lines
and was probably paid...
What do you get paid for that?
Minimum wage?
Probably, yeah.
Yeah.
Me on Shark Tank.
Made no money.
Nothing.
You lost money.
That's true.
Vanessa?
Or Omar?
Wait, did Omar win?
Did you win anything?
No, we lost.
Our team, the beer bellies lost.
And we had to wear these tight silver leotards.
Yeah.
It was very uncomfortable.
Omar just won.
Omar wins.
Because of the leotards?
Wow.
Unbelievable.
I thought he'd lose it.
That's great.
I actually just found the DVD of that.
I have it here.
We got to watch it.
New listeners that may not be aware of your big...
Of our credits.
Our previous credits.
The saddest IMDb collection ever you just heard about on KROQ.
We're going to take a quick break.
We have news to get to.
After the news, we start getting you into shows.
Four of them to be exact happening at KROQ.
And your tenders coming up in mere moments.
If you're hungry this weekend...
By the way, I don't know if you can take a smell of what's happening.
Look at all the people that are walking through trying to figure out what that smell is.
The sharks are circling.
Yeah, they smell the ribs cooking right there.
They're like something that's not donuts?
Jake, open up your nerd hole and take a sniff out in the halls.
Okay.
See what you got going on there.
You'll leave the room for that.
Look for foil.
That's good stuff.
It's wafting now.
People are starting to walk around wondering.
That's such a mean trick to plant coworkers.
It's just a nice rack of ribs cooking in the office.
Yeah, and then you realize it's not a friend of yours.
Do you have security out there?
What's that, Omar?
Do you have security out there?
Guarding the ribs?
I have a rib bouncer.
Yeah, we're going to have to...
Johnny, you're not doing much this hour.
Can you go stand by the ribs?
Time's happening.
Okay, great.
Quick break.
We're back with more show next.
KROQ, Klon Alley Show.
There's some news.
Then a brand new hour of the show will begin.
That is the hour we hook you up with tickets to the next four shows here at KROQ
that will include Fontaine's D.C., The Paradox, Dexter the Moon Rocks, and The Beaches.
So you'll get into all those shows coming up in moments.
So go nowhere and be ready to call and win.
But first, there's this.
Grab your Adderall.
It's time for ADD News.
Well, here's the big story.
This year's nominees for the Toy Hall of Fame have been released.
Oh, boy.
It's the biggest thing people are talking about right now.
Move over, Macklemore.
They will announce the official selection in November.
They usually end up choosing classic boring toys that nobody cares about anymore,
like the Hula Hoop or the Yo-Yo.
And here's who could be joining the Hula Hoop and the Yo-Yo this year.
The 12 finalists are Bingo, Bop It,
Care Bears.
Mahjong.
Oh, man.
That guy's giving me a little...
Look at that drop.
That's an homage to us, I believe.
Mahjong.
I think you had a better delivery.
I don't know.
Mahjong.
That's pretty good.
You guys can just have a conversation.
Mahjong.
Mahjong.
That's how you play.
You gotta hear this call.
Hey, guys.
We did it.
So my mom got invited to her church wards weekly game night.
And when I was talking to her, she said that they were playing, she couldn't remember how to pronounce the game, but it's Mahjong.
And as soon as she said it, I immediately said back, Mahjong.
And she looked at me like I was insane.
And I had to explain to her that it's not problematic and that I heard it on the Klein Alley show.
No, you don't have to give us credit for why you say it the way you say it.
Just know that it's being entered into the Toy Hall of Fame, and that's very exciting.
Mahjong?
Mahjong.
It's not problematic at all.
I think we're playing favorites here.
I hope that they get selected.
Which is really surging in popularity now.
Monster High and Mousetrap.
Oh, there's also...
Mousetrap.
See?
Monster High.
Got to get rid of all of them.
What the hell is Monster High?
That was an old board game where it was like...
I think it was like high school girls sitting around a board game
talking about who their boyfriends are going to be.
Not quite sure.
Pokemon cards.
Polly Pocket.
Slide.
Just slide?
Just a slide?
Like slides in general?
Like a slide.
That really?
Slide.
I wouldn't consider that to be a toy.
Well, it is kind of, right?
If you have a slide in your backyard.
Apparatus.
Vanessa, is a slide a toy?
It's a park.
Part of a park.
Thank you.
Not a toy.
That's what my son would say, literally.
Yep.
Vanessa, which of these toys do you think should be inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame?
The Bop-It.
Bop-It.
She's going to go with Polly Pocket because they're basically the same size.
Same size because they can share clothes.
Sorry, that board game.
Tickle Me Elmo and Yahtzee.
Yahtzee is one that should make it.
Yahtzee is probably the best dice game that has ever existed.
All right.
Well, congratulations, all them toys, for making it into the Toy Hall of Fame.
Nominees.
Only some will make it, though.
Only some, yes.
And, again, we have to wait until November for that big decision.
Okay, we are shameless about our love for In-N-Out on this show.
We all have different orders, some more controversial than others.
But apparently our love is nothing compared to Kirk Cousins' love for In-N-Out, who, after joining the Raiders, says that he has developed a problem that he now cannot get over.
And he's revealed his order.
I would dare any of us to try it.
In-N-Out's tough to beat.
I have an In-N-Out problem, if you will.
I'm not a very patient person, so waiting in the lines can be tough.
So I tend to park and go in.
He's a park-and-go-inner.
Yeah.
Just like you.
I'm actually back to the drive-thru now.
I was a park-and-go-inner, and then I realized that it's just too much stress.
To park and go in.
Oh, there's chaos in there.
Yeah, it's chaos.
It's like the floor of the stock exchange.
Well, it's just like Costco's chaos, but it's chaos that you know.
But he, like you, acknowledged that he doesn't think it saves time.
In my mind, I tell myself that's faster.
I don't know if it actually is or not, but I'm going to park and walk in.
And, you know, I try to be strategic when I go as far as wait times.
I haven't quite figured out that hack.
Maybe it's early, you know, 10, 30, 11 when they first opened.
He seems to know a lot.
He's really had trial and error here.
I got an in-and-out problem, and it wasn't a big deal when I lived in the central or eastern times.
zone but on the west coast time zone when i signed with the raiders i knew this is going to be an
issue i actually have a go-to what i'm not very proud of i did this in august on an off day i had
three three by threes i don't get onions but then i also get fries and uh don't usually do a shake
that's probably the the one discipline i try to have no shake no shake to go with three three by
threes how do you eat that that's three three by threes professional but he does no onions he does
no onions yeah it's a shame pretty impressive uh most parks uh theme parks locally have released
their halloween lineups and are opening their halloween attractions today not scary farms
opening night tonight of course you got universal studios everyone's got their scary themed things
that are opening up and in downtown disney they're doing something new this year where
they're going to be doing screenings of halloween movies every wednesday night this has already
started it started september 9th it's going all the way through the end of october and they're
going to do these movie screenings in downtown
Disney, right by
Din Tai Fun and Parkside Market,
another place that you love. Yeah, but are they doing
movies like Hocus Pocus and
Nightmare Before Christmas,
that sort of junk? Just those two.
Get Michael Myers in there.
You know, some real scary stuff.
Probably that stupid thing
Vanessa liked, Halloweentown.
Yeah, Halloweentown, that movie.
Obsession. 323 wants to point out
that Allie is wrong. Monster High is like
Barbie, but with monster dolls.
She has no idea what she speaks of.
Oh, is it?
Yeah, I mean, that's probably popular in the 80s or something, right?
Monster High are dolls.
Dolls that ironically resemble Ali, someone said, 310.
So there you have it.
All right, we get into a brand new hour of the show right now on KROQ.
This is the world famous KROQ.
Good morning.
Welcome to your KROQ, we are Klein Ali Show.
You know, one of our buddies, I like to consider him a friend of ours,
is a man by the name of Stu Mendel.
And he is up there in Sky Fox, has been for a long time.
He's calling the chases.
He's our eye in the sky whenever things are happening.
And obviously, over the past 24 hours here, we've all heard about the really tragic situation
that happened with the chopper for Channel 4 that went down and multiple people lost
their lives, including, I guess, the NBC version of Stu.
Ellie in the Helly.
Ellie on a marina.
I would even argue she had a better nickname than Stu.
And the whole situation is sad, you know, I mean, for so many reasons.
And obviously, as Ali pointed out yesterday, you know, part of living in Southern California,
the soundtrack to us living here is the sounds of choppers constantly above head.
A lot of times those are LAPD birds.
Sometimes they're the news choppers.
As someone who lived right at the interchange between the 101 and 405 for a while,
that was my sweet sounds I'd go to sleep to and wake up to every morning.
Yeah, I know. I mean, these guys are up in the air almost every single day, and usually in our area, there's probably four or five choppers going at any given time, and you don't think that things like this could happen.
And also, you kind of get used to hearing the same voices and personalities bringing you the news, telling you about car chases. I know Stu's been a part of our lives.
So we wanted to check in with Stu for a few reasons, because I thought maybe he could shed some light on all of this that is happening right now for us regular normies that don't necessarily understand the intricacies of what it's like to spend most of your life hovering above Southern California in a chopper.
And first of all, Stu, thank you for being back on with us again.
It's good to talk to you.
You know, we're big fans of yours.
Hey, I heard all that intro.
I'm actually blushing.
Thank you, guys.
I appreciate that.
And I love the love.
uh thank you for all that and you know i just want to start with you know a lot of i i see it
in the community right now everybody that ever ever even saw a helicopter seems to be chiming in
on on you know their version of what happened or or their ideas of what could have what what could
be better or why this happened and all this and you know the reality for me is straight out is
that it shouldn't be about us surviving.
It should be about Ileana, George,
and unfortunately that person on the ground.
And, you know, I really, you know,
I can't say that enough.
And, you know, the helicopter community,
we're all a family.
There's no doubt about it.
But it is really, truly just like a family.
You've got those cousins and brothers
and, you know, everybody's got a different,
you know, a different type of attitude.
but uh you know they're based out of and this is something too that maybe most people don't
really know is that the helicopter really isn't owned by nbc uh you know that they they are
managed by companies and out here in los angeles you've got heliink that's the people that i
right now they're the ones that manage the aircraft that i fly with helinet which is you
know the old school original they've been here forever and then you've got angel city air which
has the ktla and the nbc contract so you know i i really haven't you know and and it's me i don't
even know why i'm confessing i feel like this is a confessional but i haven't really reached out to
any of my friends over there at aca because i just don't know what to say to them yeah um you know
they know, they know that I, I feel the loss. Uh, Ileana, she was, you know, a lot of people
know her from, from the news and she had a great, uh, you know, following on social media, but she
was such a wonderful, beautiful person. And when I say that, I'm not just talking about her physical
beauty. I mean, inside, she was one of those people. And believe me, I would, I would be saying
this if this accident hadn't happened and you said you know tell me about Ileana um you know I
I I started working and she's she's she was learning in the 90s a late night oh I'm sorry
early 2000s early 2000s and um and she came in and you know here's this bouncy bubbly college
grad from Orange County Chapman University and you know here I am this you know seasoned I'm
they use the word season but you know i've said it before she she made this rhyme she's like there's
stew on the couch and he's oscar the grouch that's what she used to call me all the time oh man she
was good at coming up with rhymes huh she's good she was she was and and but the thing was is like
we had very opposing views and when she showed up she was you know this you know this go-getter
you know you're like cartoon character girl like you know i'm gonna change the world i'm gonna be
the change i'm gonna make the difference and and just saw she saw things in a much different light
and at first you know you know i poked fun at it but you know then i saw that she had passion and
then i saw that she was learning the camera and she was learning how to to gather news and she
started and you know secretly inside and maybe i should have been more vocal you know inside i was
I was rooting for her. I really was. And she did, she pulled it off.
She made it happen. And, and that, and that was, you know, and that was,
that was the thing. And, you know, I was proud of her and, you know,
and we are a community and I am kind of that grouchy guy in the,
in the real life. I, you know,
I'm not the guy that goes to the barbecues or hangs out and has beers after
work. I, I kind of just keep to myself, but you know, Ileana,
every time i saw her it was warm hugs big smiles um you know what i'm talking about in work you
know we don't you know we'll land somewhere for fuel if there's a big story and we'll get out
you know talk or if there's a helicopter event you know and we're both there and you know it's
that loss it's that she is gone yeah and you know and and i can talk to you guys about you know you
know the ideas i can understand the npsb started talking about some stuff and i can give you guys
some insight about you know that that video where you hear those horns going off in the background
and get you some ideas about what was going on there but you know in the community we are very
judge each other very harshly all the time and nobody nobody in my circle nobody that knows
george has anything negative to say i think he i think they had a a catastrophic failure uh you
know they had it they had a mechanical issue and uh he handled it the best he could and it was very
it just it was tragic and he did they did everything right you know the crew did everything
right and it's just just brutal how it ended does this freak you out at all because uh you know you
spent, I mean, countless hours up there, and we talked
about this when we did the AMA with you, and you're
ever freaked out, and there are ever times when you've
had close calls, etc., but when something
like this is obviously, you know,
it's affected all of us, and we don't even know
half of what goes into this on a daily basis.
Are you at all
more nervous about your daily
job, or do you just go, this is one of those
sad fluke accidents that happens from time to time?
It's a sad fluke
accident that happens from time to time.
Today, Skybox,
you know we were the only ones up flying we did news we did our morning show uh you know we're
you know i i again if you know me don't judge me by this comment but it's like you know work now
more and later and uh you know we were we were up there today clearly we have a different type
of aircraft we fly in a bell um you know the other all the other news helicopters in california are
the same type of aircraft that crashed you know maybe not the same exact model but the same type
meaning it's an a-star but um you know it's i'm not i'm not and i'm not and then again i'm just
now i'm thinking about it it's like i i'm not saying that like you know i'm so brave or you
know because even the even my pilot dylan he was anxious to go fly because we love what we do
and uh and and you know it's an accident it was a terrible unfortunate accident and you know in
i i've had other people you know we talked about it it's been believe me it's been the topic of
conversation constantly you know you could something could happen to your loved ones going
to work today you know well i know they've seen it all the time you know we hear about say for
example a commercial plane going down and it's like oh my gosh how devastating people get scared
to fly but in hindsight this doesn't happen that often and i imagine with helicopters it happens
even less but some of the information about the helicopter they were saying it was 22 years old
like what is old for a helicopter and is it something that they could have avoided if they
had updated it oh you know what all that stuff i okay so aircraft uh you know they they do have a
um a finite life there there's there's something about that i don't know that number right off the
top of my head but they have a finite life i mean and it goes by hours aircraft go by flight hours
um so you know even though it was a 20 year old aircraft that engine might have been you know a
couple of months old uh they are taken apart and put back together endlessly and as far as
maintenance goes you know there's on our aircraft and i and i say it's the same for everybody
there's a there's something called a daily every one of these helicopter companies we have our own
mechanics that are part of you know part of the team and they have something called a daily where
the mechanic will go out and like literally go through a lot of the the crucial components like
put eyes on it check hoses uh you know all that stuff every single day and then the pilot does
what's called the pre-flight and then technically that's every time we go fly and you know the joke
is, the big one's on the top, the little one's
on the back, let's go. But
really, truly, they check oil,
they check, you know, the pilot does.
And so there is continuous
maintenance on these aircraft.
Stu Mundell
is on with us right now, if you're just joining.
Aerial photographer, reporter, he's the
fox eye in the sky for all of us
on Sky Fox.
And, you know, nice enough to give us the sweet divots
shout out of multiple times during car chases.
Today we're talking about, obviously, something
much sadder, and that is the loss
of a local reporter when her chopper went
down yesterday and people were talking about it. We've all
sadly now seen this video because we can't
avoid it where you're kind of watching those last moments
of the helicopter trying
to get elevation. You hear that sound.
What is that sound that we're all hearing?
That's an alarm that basically says, what, the
chopper can't get up? There's an engine issue?
What is that sound we're hearing?
The first one you hear,
when you hear that tapping
beep, that beep, beep, beep, that beep, beep, beep
sound, that one
is actually a high rotor meaning the rpms are too high for the rotor and so the blades are
spinning too fast so that's probably the indication that there's an actual like
whatever was leading up to that that is like where the problem actually started and and the
solid horn that you're hearing afterwards is a low rotor so uh you know the pilots
And this is insane, too. I heard somebody in one of the interviews, somebody that witnessed it saying that, you know, he was shocked to see that it wasn't falling out of the sky.
It looked like it was gliding. And, you know, that's another one.
A lot of people think like, oh, those rotors are going to stop and you're going to drop like a rock.
Well, you know, there's a lot of physics involved there and it doesn't actually work like that.
You know, you can have an engine out and the aircraft still will have the ability.
I mean, it's going to go down, but, you know, you have the ability to, you know, pick where you want to land or, you know, and if their training is right and, you know, everything is working well, you can actually put it down without damage.
these pilots they train like that they train for engine out like once a year they have to do
proficiency and they literally will take that aircraft go out to maybe burbank airport or
something that's a big airport heaven forbid something happens and they want to be where
there's you know emergency vehicles but they literally do engine out training where they
are flying they will you know do a simulated engine out you know type of situation and
basically just fly in without any power to the rotor and so it it had it it's possible it's done
and what happened what george was confronted with you know we all hear it we all see what
see what happened i you know i just don't know i don't know uh and and i but but the reality is
the first horn was a high the second one was a low uh they were doing that that shuttering you
see with the camera that is you know the a-star has three blades so that's where the blades are
probably getting so slow that you know that you're losing that glide type of thing but he also might
have been flaring at that point meaning kind of pulling the nose up so he's fine trying to you
know he has that spot you know i don't know why you know again i wasn't there right i wasn't in
the cockpit well still we think of uh we think of what you do uh on a daily basis i think we take it
for granted a lot and then something like this happens
and we appreciate you
for flying above and giving us
all those aerial shots you've given us,
got us through the fires and everything else.
I know that this has hit you extra hard
and I just wanted to say thank you for joining us
to shed some light on it because I think all of us
regular normies are kind of confused as to
other than just feeling sad about what happened
and understanding it's a tragedy and not really understanding
why or any of the stuff behind it.
Well, anyway,
next time maybe we'll talk under more fun circumstances,
I guess.
definitely and thank you guys and you know what i gotta tell you i love the love my you gotta know
my my social media has been blowing up my phone was blowing up from the moment it happened
and and you know i do i love the love and thank you guys for letting me come on and just saying
hey and and you know next time next time it'll be something fun well as we've said the helicopter
the news choppers up in the air kind of like white noise for southern california and like
klein said you know it becomes something that we just you know don't think about that's happening
every single day, but we do appreciate you
and everything that you guys do.
Oh, man. Love you guys. Love you guys.
And in front of Ileana's family
and George's family and that person.
Thanks, Stu. I appreciate that. Thank you.
Love you too, man. We wanted to be able to speak to this
intelligently, but since Allie and I have a total of
zero hours of any sort of helicopter
training, we decided that we should
have a man on that does this job daily
and how it's affecting Stu, but he was back up
in the sky today, and
thanks for saying those words, and obviously we
echo everything you said. We've got to take a quick break.
We're back in a moment.
More show to get to, and those tickets will be in mere moments.
I think we've got a Generation Wars to get to this hour,
so get ready to be a part of that coming up on KROQ.
KROQ, Klein Alley Show.
We'll get into Gen Wars in a moment.
If you'd like to play and you represent a generation, any generation at all,
now's a good time to call us at 800-520-1067.
If you win Generation Wars, listen to this.
You will get access to the next four shows here at KROQ,
which means you will be here for four different times, four different bands,
four different In-N-Out burgers,
and all you have to do is call now and win for your generation.
So if you want in, a lot of people are asking,
how can I get in to the Fontaine's DC show?
How can I get in to see the Paris?
Well, you've got to win Generation Wars.
You get into all the shows, and we are looking for you right now.
Gen Z, Gen X, Millennial, and or Boomer at 800-520-1067.
We want to put all these generations awkwardly in one small space.
Bad news to report, Jake.
Johnny did not take his job seriously as bouncer for the ribs.
You're so upset about this.
Client's so pissed.
It was for one minute.
Well, that's all you need.
He took his eyes off it for one minute.
You think the whole thing's ruined?
Yes, I do.
Yeah, you cannot interrupt a slow and low cooking process.
The ribs have been removed.
Someone came.
Someone.
Someone had to make their lunch.
Someone in the building removed the ribs from the oven, and they put in a baked potato.
Yes, because they need to eat their baked potato.
But you want to talk about the two ends of the food?
Wait a second.
Who brings a baked potato?
You're baking the whole thing?
That is a strange thing to reheat.
And they put in a baked potato for 20 minutes.
So they pulled the, if you interrupt the low and slow cooking process, Allie, I'm sorry, it is completely jeopardized.
There's no way to rebound.
You can't.
And we know low and slow.
And I look over and I say, Johnny, what happened?
You were on post.
You were on your watch.
This was your watch.
And he's sitting at his desk.
What am I supposed to do, just stand by the ribs?
I go, yes, that's exactly what you're supposed to do.
Well, the thing is, this is a communal kitchen where people have to make other things.
You can't take over an entire heating apparatus for multiple hours.
He just did what I did with a worser food.
Yeah, but you've already had them in for over an hour.
The guy probably went two times and was like, what is going on with this guy and the ribs?
I've got to make my potato at some point.
They're starving.
That is such a, if someone pulled out a potato to make ribs, that's respectable.
Okay, you're right.
Better food takes the oven.
No one pulls out ribs to make a potato.
Sorry, Allie.
In no world does that make sense.
Unfortunately, this man has a potato for lunch.
That's his problem.
Right, but he has to make it.
What, is he just supposed to starve because you've been deciding to make a rack of ribs for two hours?
Well, I needed another.
Yeah, I mean, now we may have to start the process over again.
Oh, my God.
This is taking so long, I don't care anymore about the ribs.
Well, apparently you're not the only one.
I don't know whose potato this is, Johnny, but I need you to now keep an eye this time.
When the guy comes back, you need to discipline.
You put the ribs back in.
Discipline?
What do you think Johnny's going to do?
Throw a potato at him.
Potato launcher.
Wait, how about I put up a rope?
Or I could put up a sign.
Yeah, sign it.
Rope it off.
I thought that's what you were doing the first time around.
We gave you the job the first time to guard the ribs.
Is he going to put up a rope?
We can't take over the whole fryer.
Somebody else has to.
That's what I'm saying.
We've got dibs.
They have no business getting in there.
Every other day, this thing is being used never.
Yes.
So they don't expect it to be taken for hours.
Well, too bad.
So sad.
Air fryer.
First in.
Hey, guys, the way it works in a company kitchen is first, whoever first gets it.
Even if they need it for two hours?
I'm making ribs.
That's crazy.
The ribs are already in there.
We should have cooked this at home.
The ribs were in the oven, Allie.
Now that's ownership.
Dibs on ribs.
Dibs on ribs.
Right.
But say if.
Potato.
Someone yanked them out of the balls on that part.
Yeah, you can't rhyme that.
Think about how often the microwave is used.
Everyone's using it for 30 seconds a minute.
Microwave is quick, quick, quick.
Right, exactly.
But what if someone was like, I'm going to defrost an entire chicken.
I need 30 minutes at least.
People are going to be pissed because they need to use the microwave.
If they're in there first, then that's that.
That's the way it goes around here.
That's the way it works.
It's the oldest rule in the world.
See, now Johnny is putting up a passive-aggressive sign.
This is going to create problems.
We're going to create another war.
We've got to find who this potato asshole is.
I know who the potato guy is.
What?
I saw him do this.
You know the potato guy?
You saw him and you didn't stop him?
I didn't see him take out the ribs.
I saw him prepping his potato.
Oh, my God, Allie.
And I was like, that's a weird lunch.
Oh, you're a potato protector.
Oh, you saw the crime go down.
I didn't.
To be honest, I didn't see him take out the ribs.
I saw him prepping his potato.
I knew this was going to happen, which is why we were preemptive and we put a rib bouncer
on the case.
And then Johnny just completely dropped the ball.
Why are you blaming it on me?
You were supposed to cook them at home.
No, no.
And Jake was being ungrateful for the ribs.
That is also true.
It's tearing us apart.
Rib bouncer?
Listen, when the guy comes back to claim his potato,
he's going to be very upset when he opens it up and he realizes that.
I could go find him right now.
I'll go shout in the newsroom like, hey, whose potato is it?
It's not the newsroom.
Well, pull the potato out.
I mean, I'm saying.
Don't pull it out.
This guy's potato is going to taste better because it's going to smell like ribs.
Hey, Jose.
And you didn't bring sides, so now we've got sides.
Yeah.
You didn't bring sides?
You said there's mac and cheese for me.
I forgot that at home.
Oh, Jesus.
Jose, hi.
Hey, guys, this guy's a douchebag.
He could have put the freaking potato with the ribs.
Why does he need the whole oven for a mac and potato?
This guy's making the same point I'm making.
Yeah, he could have just added the potato.
I would say that.
He has a comb-over.
He has a comb-over, little three hairs.
Well, there's a lot of comb-over people here, so it could be.
He's got a nice head of hair, actually.
Oh, well, I am devastated about this.
Get to two-month-old one.
Who is this guy?
Who is it?
He's down the hall.
Oh, Allie's a potato protector.
She always has been.
She always has been.
She looks like one.
She looks like one.
I've had many potato in my life.
Potato protector.
Generation Wars is next on KROQ.
I'm so upset.
Lightning round Generation Wars.
Up for grabs.
Access to the next four shows here at KROQ.
So we will get into that in mere moments as we meet the contestants.
It's time for us to prove which generation is the best generation.
once and for all, or at least until next week.
And I see that we have people on the phone
representing the Millennial, the Boomer,
the Gen X, and the Gen Z.
It's time for Generation Whores.
This is Generation Whores.
Hey, are we busting or what?
I'll tell you where the beef is.
It's been pulled out and put on the counter, Dolly,
because it made room for a stupid potato.
Generation Whores.
All right, we say good morning now
to our contestants
waiting on the phone
to win their way
into the shows
and get bragging rights.
Mark is a millennial
born in 1985
and he likes to drink
the bright color
of the Kool-Aid.
Is that correct, Mark?
Morning, guys.
See you, dudes.
You don't go by flavor.
You go by color.
I love the bright-colored Kool-Aid.
The bright-colored Kool-Aid.
It's all about the colors.
I think that's...
Best Gatorade flavor is yellow.
I feel like that's
a millennial thing
where you talk about
a Gatorade or Kool-Aid
by color, not by flavor.
and then somehow shifted.
I didn't even know there were flavors written on there.
Yeah, I know.
Berry Blue, Mountain Berry Punch.
Those were some of the greatest ones.
All right.
This guy's an enthusiast.
We say hi to our Gen Z, born in 2001.
This is Jessie, big fan of vaping.
Hey, you're a vaper?
Yeah, well, I got pregnant, so not anymore,
but right up until I got pregnant.
Oh, I thought that's why they created vaping,
so you could smoke while pregnant.
Close, kind of.
All right, well, we say welcome to you.
And what was your favorite flavor of vape?
Did you have a flavor you were into?
Matcha.
Matcha vape, man.
That's amazing.
That's very Gen Z of you.
We say hi to our Gen Xer, born in 73.
This is Paula.
Hey, what's up, Paula?
Welcome to KROQ.
Good morning.
What's up, guys?
If you know the answer to the questions, you must yell out Gen X before anyone else.
Wait for Allie to call on you, and then you can lock in.
And we say hello now to Eric, our boomer, born in 1961, who didn't have cable TV.
Right, Eric?
You there, buddy?
Eric?
Boomer.
He may have fallen asleep.
Boomer.
Eric?
Eric or Derek?
Eric, you're on mute.
Unmute yourself.
Unmute yourself, Eric.
Okay, I'm off mute.
I knew it.
I knew it.
All right, well, now we know who everyone is.
A boomer of me, huh?
Yeah, all right.
If you know the answers, please lock in by yelling out your generation.
Wait for Ali to call on you.
And here we go.
Question number one.
Who was Kurt Loder?
Boomer.
Yes, Boomer.
He was an MTV VJ.
An MTV VJ.
I will accept that.
More of an MTV newsman, but sure, I will accept.
Kurt Loder broke a lot of the big news stories of the 90s, I would say, maybe even late 80s, perhaps.
Also questioning why Paula, the Gen X-er, yelled out boomer just now.
Yeah, yeah.
What's going on with you, Paula?
Are you confused?
I had a boomer moment.
I keep talking about it.
Yeah, she is at the beginning.
She's one of the older Gen X-ers, you know, born in the early 70s.
So she's on the cusp.
On the cusp.
Here we go.
Next question.
Generation Wars.
Long before YouTube, there was something called the boob tube.
What was that?
Gen X.
I heard millennial first by a hair.
Millennial, what is the boob tube?
That was like a women's strapless top.
No, it was a tube top.
Gen X.
Okay, Gen X, go ahead.
Yes, Gen X.
The TV.
That is correct.
Boob tube was just what people used to refer to as the TV.
But I like Boob Tube better for their tube top.
I think Boob Tube is a better name for tube top, for sure.
We should change that.
We go to this next question.
It's Generation Worse.
The Noid was the mascot slash enemy of what?
Gen X.
Yes, Gen X.
Boomer.
Domino's Pizza is correct.
We move on, Allie, to this next question.
Seems like a Gen X Boomer War.
Which commonly used emoji is perceived by Gen Z as being passive-aggressive and cold, only used in formal workplace chats?
Which commonly used emoji is disliked by Gen Z?
Millennial.
Yes, Millennial.
The clapping emoji.
That is not right.
Especially clapping in between every word.
Yes.
the uh laugh crying emoji no laugh crying is not correct either
yes gen z you should know this one a skull no
the thumbs up oh that's what i was thinking thumbs up people don't like it and we move on
to your next question in generation wars here we go if someone tells you to eat my shorts what are
they saying millennial i think i heard boomer first barely by like a hair
it's an insult that a la bart simpson that is a correct answer you're telling someone to
buzz off eat my shorts popularized by a bart simpson ali what's the score with only five
questions left paula the gen xer and eric the boomer are tied with two apiece we go to this
next question in Generation Wars.
Here we go.
What was the name of He-Man's
female counterpart
that was actually his long-lost twin sister?
Yes, Gen X.
She-Man? Say it again.
She-Man?
Spell that.
S-H-E-M-A-H.
She-Man. Princess of Power.
I think she's saying She-La.
Yeah.
She-Man.
No, no, no.
She-na with an N?
Yes.
That is incorrect.
She did, yeah, she got that right.
It's funny that you have the description.
Millennial, go ahead for the steal.
She-ra.
She-ra with an A.
That is incorrect.
You should see her in a boob tube.
That's what she was all about.
Go to your next question right now.
And, Allie, what is the score with only four questions left?
Gen X has two.
Boomer has two.
Millennial has one.
In the MTV show Cribs, what room did most of the guests say,
this is where the magic happens?
Boomer.
Boomer.
The bedroom.
That is the correct answer.
That was a very popular catchphrase for that show.
And we go to this next question now in Generation Wars.
What toy was a ball attached to an ankle ring?
Millennial.
Yes, millennial.
That toy you skip around.
Yeah, you're getting there.
Skip-a.
Skip what?
Skip-a?
That's a He-Man sister.
It's definitely catchier than the toy that you skip around.
Yes, for the steel boomer.
The He-Man sister, skip-a.
Skip-a.
No, also wrong.
Yeah, I know.
Anyone else want to steal?
Yeah, I know.
Who wants to steal this one?
I'm a loser.
It's the ball that had an ankle.
This should be a question.
We were literally talking about it earlier.
This should be a millennial.
Easy question, millennial.
But no one wants to take this one.
And the answer is skip it.
Skip it.
Skip it.
Skip it.
All right.
Final questions.
If someone says get that bread, what are they actually telling you to get?
Millennial.
Millennial.
Money.
That is correct.
Millennial on the board.
Allie, what is the score?
We have two questions.
Boomer is in the lead with three points, followed by Gen X and Millennial.
Each have two.
All right.
Still a possible changing of the guards that could happen here.
Let's find out.
This fancy mustard was oftentimes passed from limo.
Boomer.
Yes, Boomer.
Grapefruit palm.
That is correct.
Good job, Eric.
And we get down to this last question.
I don't know if it matters, but what candy would allow people to get backstage at concerts
or sneak into other events because it was the Freshmaker?
Boomer.
Yes, Boomer.
Mentos?
Wow!
Boomer.
You did great.
We have a regular-ass Boomer winner today.
Minus the fact that he couldn't get his phone off mute at the very beginning of the game.
This has not happened in a long time.
And we say goodbye to our millennial, our Gen X and our Gen Z.
And we say congratulations to Eric, our Boomer contestant.
I can't believe it.
Proving that Boomers still have a chance.
I think it's the first ever natural Boomer win, perhaps, in a Generation Wars.
I think so.
Especially how it started.
Yeah, I was like, nope, this guy's not.
Boomer, congratulations.
What song of any song would you like to hear on KROQ now
that you think best represents your generation?
It's got to be the Dead Kennedys, Holiday in Cambodia.
Cool.
All right, let's give you a commercial about stormwater.
This update is brought to you by...
Grab your Adderall.
It's time for ADD News.
Time is moving faster than ever right now.
Halloween decorations are up.
I just made my New Year's Eve plans last night.
Oh, what are you doing?
I'm going to go to Sequoia Park.
What is that?
What?
What is that place?
Trees?
Yeah, trees.
I'm going to be super pregnant.
I'm not going to be able to, like, rage.
I'm just saying.
New Year's?
Yeah.
That sounds terrible.
Okay, well, I don't give a crap what you think.
Why are you even asking if you're going to make fun of me?
I didn't ask.
Omar asked.
I didn't ask.
I did.
I did.
I'm sorry.
I wasn't even going to ask.
I'm sorry.
Well, thanks a lot, guys.
I'll just assume your plans are lame.
Okay, at least I have plans.
douchebag. You're doing the same
thing as squirrels. You're just going to the
trees. Look, it's pretty there.
Why wouldn't I want to just be in a pretty place
rather than be sitting at home?
Well, I don't think that sitting
at home was the other option. How about a nice
dinner somewhere? That's fine.
I'll have a nice dinner. I can't
have a nice dinner in a different place.
Go to the forest. You think all I can eat is
nuts when I go to a forest? Yeah, that's
right. We know. No, there's like lodges
and restaurants in a town
there there is sandwich yeah have you even ever been there nope the sequoia yeah yeah there's not
a like a town it's a natural forest no i'm in a big hotel are you staying in a treehouse
so you're not even camping no i'm not camping in the middle of winter you should have run your
plans by us before you both oh my god is it refundable that's just it was just a throwaway
statement are we really gonna spend this much time on this shows on this oh my god so the point
being, everything is moving very
quickly, and all the stores are
now just...
Yeah, man, there's trees.
My friends went there last year and said it was great,
so we're joining them this year.
We're just kind of hitching on to what they're doing.
Did they invite you, or did you invite yourself?
No, they invited us. They said we went last year,
it was great, you should join us this year.
Pity invite.
Because they assume
that nobody will go to the Sequoia.
Let's practice how this should have gone.
Why is this such a weird thing?
Invite me to Sequoia.
Let's see.
Let's role play how this is going to go.
Hey, I went to Sequoia last year.
It was really, really great.
I ate nuts all day.
You should join me next time.
Absolutely not.
I'd rather cut my penis off.
Well, you know what?
You don't appreciate nature, so you shouldn't go to the snow or the trees or anything like that.
Okay?
You know what?
I like construction.
Sitting inside of it.
Yeah.
And, you know, Omar wants to go get wasted and have a nice dinner.
That's what he wants to do.
I say to those trees.
Spoiler, we like doing different things.
In Sequoia, I say to those trees, I will visit you once you're chopped down and turned
into a cool building.
Preferably a Dave and Buster.
Once you've turned
into a bill statement.
Right.
So anyway,
all these stores
are releasing their holiday deals
and lineups early.
Amazon, Target, Walmart, Ikea,
they've all revealed
their spreads for the holidays.
Amazon is turning
basically their October
Prime Day sale
into a full-on holiday sale.
They're not just doing this
out of the blue.
They've noticed that people
are already buying stuff
for Christmas,
so they're just following
all of us, essentially.
And to compete with this,
Walmart and Target
are doing their very own
holiday sales in October
so there's going to be 50% off home goods
40% off clothes
and tech and 30% off toys
and of course all of those deals
get much much better once you sign up for all their
crap like Target Circle
and Walmart Plus and all that stuff
and just word of wise cancel all
that stuff so that you're at square
one for the holidays and
you re-sign up you get all of those
15% 20% discounts
thrifty Thursday advice for you
Sydney Sweeney's feelings are hurt because everybody's mad about her hot body in the betting ad that she just did.
A lot of people, mainly women, have been attacking her and saying that she's over-sexualizing women in sports
and it undermines everything that these athletes have accomplished and it puts focus on their bodies rather than their abilities.
Then again, a lot of female athletes pose for the Sports Illustrated body issue.
But regardless, this is making Sydney Sweeney sad and she posted on her social media crying about it.
I think it's really important for people to see how words actually affect people.
And I know everyone says, like, you can't read things and you shouldn't read things.
But, like, I'm a f***ing person.
I'm just sitting here with my dog, Tank, watching HGTV, wearing my stogie, like.
She's naked during this announcement, by the way.
It's a great move on her part.
She went back to her full naked, just covering her nipples with tissues.
Right, and that's what she does.
She's the best.
You know?
And her cha-cha with the dog.
Yeah.
Tank just loves her.
Oh, man.
I'm just going to motorboat these all night while you watch HGTV.
I don't know.
People need to be nicer on social media.
Ugh, this bitch.
Whoa, Vanessa.
That was recorded, Vanessa.
That wasn't live, Vanessa.
But you were thinking it.
I wonder how she feels about all the other commercials that have been coming out in recent days mocking her, like this one.
Shits.
Just shits.
No wars.
No politics.
Just pee-pee and poo-poo out of your butthole.
And this one.
She's very hot.
That's the toilet paper one, right?
Yeah, the toilet paper one.
That's hilarious.
That's a very funny one.
There's this A.I. Samuel L. Jackson one.
Is this better?
Is this what you want, motherfucker?
Sports!
Y'all walking around like you ain't seen that woman's ta-tas before.
Man, shut the hell up.
Sports.
I'm not climbing up on that damn hoop.
Y'all know I'm 77, right?
So I think, obviously, this is being taken in a lot of different directions.
And you know what?
I think we can all celebrate women's bodies no matter what they look like.
Whether they're naked or not or on a basketball hoop or not.
Historically, every time Sidney Sweeney's been involved in a commercial for anything,
it gets a ton of extra attention.
And that is the greatest thing you could possibly want if you're a company.
It's the controversy.
Absolutely.
I forget what jean company she was modeling.
American Eagle Outfitters or something like that.
That's good.
I'm glad that you forget.
It's really good for the company.
What company was that?
I bought like five pairs.
I just know that their stock like soared, and it was a big deal when she did that as well.
So good on her.
That's empowerment right there.
You know, a lot of people think it is.
This is also empowerment.
When you get home, ladies, what do you do as soon as you walk through the door?
Well, science says as soon as you walk through the door, you take off your bra.
And I'm sure Sidney Sweeney is with you on this.
Over half of women, 58%, said that they're in a hurry to take their bra off as soon as they get back home.
And once they've taken their bra off
The day is over
And I've experienced this first hand at home
Where one of us has to go pick up the food
And Katie goes well I took my bra off
So I guess it's you
That's the equivalent of like in my house
Where my wife's like someone has to stay up all night with the puppy
And I just took an Ambien
And I'm like hold on I didn't get a chance to take an Ambien
So it's a race when you get through the door to take an Ambien
Yeah and I guess in your case
I took an Ambien
You have to put the kids up at school
I took an Ambien can't do it
But you will race your wife to say who can remove bra first
If bra's off, that means you're home.
I don't take my bra off.
I'm one of the few people who doesn't.
Well, then that's your problem now.
You're stuck doing everything.
Yeah, I know.
But when I take my bra off, after a while, it starts rubbing my nips because I have sensitive nipples.
Oh, God.
Do you want to talk about that?
Yeah.
I'd rather talk about your trip to Sequoia, to be honest.
Man.
I like roughing it.
That was both ends of the sexual spectrum there, from the Sidney Sweeney to the alley.
Oh, man.
We've been all over the place.
Your D was so confused.
So confused.
Up, down.
I don't know what's going on down there.
I got a deal of de-whiplash right now.
I got to call Sweet James.
Get into a brand new hour of the show in moments.
Perhaps the greatest hour of your life.
If you need us, we're here for the interaction.
The numbers are 800-520-1067.
Or if you're nasty, you can use that 323-TIP-BOLI.
And that's BOLI with an I.
And we get into your new hour next on KROQ.
This is the world famous KROQ.
Finger licking good, huh?
Good morning.
It's KROQ, your Klein Alley Show.
I'll tell you now, that was worth it.
Those are delicious.
We're going to pull those ribs out the company oven.
That guy Stanley's on to something.
That guy didn't do nothing.
I did it.
That's all how I prepared it.
You're selling the ribs?
Yeah.
The ribs were from the Honey Baked Ham store that Stanley from the office owns,
and I got peer pressure and ended up buying multiple racks.
But it was how I prepared them that made them that good.
How'd you prepare them?
What?
They already come prepared.
No, they come sauced.
Yeah, that's the whole point is marinating it.
No, no, no.
That's the important part.
Everyone knows how you cook.
Does the air fryer work?
Yeah, you just threw it in the air fryer, like on medium.
That's what truly makes a good room.
Guys, you have no idea the amount of, how many times I was flipping.
You have been obsessed.
I've been flipping.
I've been wrapping in foil, unwrapping in foil.
You usually never leave this room.
Then I go from bottom rack to top rack.
Then I go to a broil at the end to go ahead and sear the top with a little bit of caramelization.
I mean, there's a whole art form to this, guys.
Stanley, great.
It's not Stanley.
I did it.
Jake is still not said.
It's really the marinade.
Jake, shut up.
Jake still hasn't said thank you.
Why would I say thank you?
I was supposed to have these on Tuesday.
It's no corn dog.
A corn dog would have been better.
Than ribs?
No way.
You're such an asshole.
Whatever, I'm done with this.
Did we ever find out who the potato guy was?
Yeah, I saw him.
Did you tell him off?
I saw him claim his potato,
and I thought about saying some words to him,
but he's bigger than me.
Oh.
Okay.
I wouldn't say bigger is the word.
He is larger.
He could kick my ass if he needed to.
He said the ribs were done.
It said done end, which is why he took them out.
Ribs are never done.
And he should know that.
Everyone knows that.
All right.
It's low and slow forever.
They're never done.
Yummy.
So you're welcome, Jake.
I'll take a corn dog.
Okay, Rock, we're going to Klein Alley's show.
Klein, I have a question for you.
When you are in a relationship, you're in a marriage, you're in a partnership, a lot
of you have the same friends right you're in the same circle everyone is celebrating the same
birthdays and you usually give a gift from both of you to the person right i'm not a child anymore
so why would i be giving a gift to anyone unless they're throwing some sort of a party or they're
inviting us over for something i wouldn't you have your wife has friends girlfriends that she
gives gifts to i'm sure not that i know of couples birthdays nothing there's no gift that seems like
it's a child's game you don't give birthday gifts to other adults have i ever given you
or received a birthday gift from you you've given me food okay yeah i mean i guess sure
yes i'll send you something or i'll get you a first coffee yeah it's a nice it's not a gift
a gift to me is you wrap it yeah okay fine for christmas or whatever then yeah if it's a gift
that you are giving i know the concept but i mean the idea that i would just give you give adult
friends birthday gifts every year for our yeah our best friends you do well and our friend yeah
just was having more of a lady thing it is more of a lady thing i will say yeah i feel like that'd
be very i would be very uncomfortable if a male friend came up to me and i got you this candle
man i was thinking i was thinking of you and i got you this happy birthday the whole thing would
be really weird so my friend had a birthday a big birthday milestone birthday and my wife said i'm
gonna go pick out some gifts for her and I was like okay great have at it she goes picks out
some gifts she gets some cupcakes from like a nice bakery etc all on the card that I pay so
I'm paying for the gifts she's picking the gifts out now it comes time to give our friend the gifts
and she does so when I am not present and she says I picked this out for you I thought this
necklace would be great here's why i picked this out i found this great bakery she goes over the
top to explain how she chose the gift no mention of me whatsoever and basically presents the gift
as if this is my gift to you it was not a this is from us right not a wee situation wasn't a wee
situation it was i did this for your birthday input well i didn't she didn't ask me for input
because she said i you watch the kid i'm gonna go get something for her that counts
well yeah but i paid for it that's my thought is that i'm i'm contributed contributing financially
don't you guys yeah yeah but i paid that this is your finances she put it on a credit card that i
pay why does she have access to it why does she have access to a credit card that you pay
because she takes care of other bills and i take care of the credit card that's my
But if you have a, if you have, wow, wait, wait, wait, wait, my head's about to explode.
Sounds like you got Jedi mind through big time on this one.
Yeah, it's not half and half, all right?
Whoa, man, she got you good on that one.
Sometimes I've bought myself gifts.
It's like she buys them for me, but I pay for them.
And then she gets the credit?
She gets the credit and I have to pay for it.
When this gift was handed to the friend, where were you?
I was nowhere to be seen.
No, like, were you in the house, like, upstairs?
I was upstairs with our kid.
So you were around.
I was around.
So she could have said...
You were in an earshot?
So she could have said,
Allie, come here, let's give her this gift.
Then I had to come downstairs and have my friend explain,
Katie got this for my birthday.
Isn't this great?
Oh, so you got completely left out of any of the glory.
And I was like,
wouldn't you just, out of being nice,
say this is from both of us
and not go over the top to explain,
I did this, I picked this out,
I thought you would like this flavor.
Wouldn't you just say, hey, this is from us?
The sad reality is more often than not, when a gift is given, my wife takes care of most of it, writes my name on the card, too.
Yes, we all know this.
And then they'll say to me something along the lines of, hey, thanks for whatever.
And I'll say, what did I do?
And they'll say, thanks for the thing.
And I'll go, I don't think that's from me, man.
Well, everything I get from my mom for Christmas was picked out by my mom.
But it's from both of them.
And I'll tell both of them, thank you.
By your rationale, it's not from your mom at all, because Steve, he's the guy with the money, your mom's dad, your stepdad.
Right, so it's a joint gift.
So technically, he's doing all the paying.
She's doing the work, and he's doing the paying, which was the case here.
Right, you did the paying, and she did the shopping, and you got left out of the thank yous.
So she didn't even think I was any part of this, so she's going, thank you so much, Katie, let me show Allie what Katie got me.
Yeah.
And I'm just saying, isn't it the nice thing to do, to say, from both of us, even if you did all the work,
Isn't this a joint thing?
With your couples, you're giving everything as couples' presents.
Isn't the idea of giving a gift the whole it's better to give than to receive crap?
And it sounds like you're making this all about you not getting a thank you or not getting the credit.
I'm just saying, usually around Christmas, I am the one doing most of the Christmas shopping.
And I always say this is from both of us.
Any gift that I am getting for a mutual friend or family member, it is from us, regardless of who has done the legwork.
So there's some times where you've done the shopping, the picking, and the paying, and you still say from both.
Yes, and this is the one time that she's decided to go out of her way to do the work for it, and she took all the credit.
And so what is it you're looking for exactly?
I'm looking for credit.
But like credit from who?
Both from my credit card company and from her.
Well, you're getting credit because you're going to get a bill for that, but I'm saying like are you waiting for that?
Don't you think this is messed up that she took all the credit?
I did, but now I think it's more messed up how thirsty you are for the credit.
that part feels weird i'm just a little frustrated that it wasn't a hey let's wait for ally to be
around so we could at least present this together did you talk to your wife about this yet or i
mentioned it to her and she said well i did give her a card too and i wrote your name on it oh
so that's that's the that's the credit yeah but why wouldn't she wait for me to be there i mean
that's the part that's weird if you're giving someone a gift and the fun for the giver is
seeing the excitement when they open it and they go oh my god i do love tampons or whatever you
Then I have to act and go, yes, I know, we did this together.
You fake it because you make sure that both of you, quote, unquote, did this.
Text line is overwhelmingly on your side here.
Divorce her, Allie.
Allie's right on this one.
310 just wants to find out more about why she has access to a card that she has no responsibility financially to.
That part is the part that Omar literally passed.
I watched Omar pass out.
He just came back.
We need smelling salts to get Omar back.
Thank you.
So the answer is.
Even when she flew on her flight home, she is buying things from the flight attendant, all that stuff.
And it's on our card, quote, our card.
But I'm paying for it.
And what is the rules about this card that you have that you pay for?
By October 2nd, I have to pay the bill.
So she pays for the utilities.
She pays a bunch of the other regular bills.
Yeah.
Crank the AC.
Right.
Yeah.
And this is more of a fluctuating thing.
Jake is right.
you should put all the lights on and crank the AC.
That's the best way to get back at her.
And then you don't have to give her credit.
You could just say, that's my light.
Yeah, right.
But you don't do this too?
Everyone splits their stuff differently.
I mean, yeah.
Everything is split differently.
The gift-giving thing I find rather strange.
I find it weird that she would present it without you there,
considering you were there.
You were upstairs.
I was physically there.
And she says, well, I didn't know.
It was just an open window I had to give it to her.
this was the open window i had yeah i said well i just had to leave well everybody it was in the
middle of all this wedding stuff and so she thought i i don't know when i'm gonna get another chance
but you were there but i was there she could have easily run up the stairs and said hey i'm about to
do this come downstairs one says you should put a divorce attorney on retainer on that credit card
that's a good idea as well yeah we have to take a break she also has a separate credit card that
she spends money on and pays only herself but nothing seems to go on that credit card okay
Why don't you get access to that card?
She also said, while I was there, I bought a bracelet for you.
And I said, did you get it on our card?
And she said, yes, I did.
So let me get this straight.
Our card.
So I bought myself a bracelet.
So our card is Allie.
You're an our card.
It's very nice.
Allie's a card-carrying our card member for sure.
So Allie, you are, you're saying you have an our card that only you pay for.
And then she has a her card.
That she pays for.
But nothing goes on that.
And I don't have access to that.
Oh, man.
Yeah, now that I think about this.
Well, you are recorded.
That is for sure.
That is from us.
All right, we got to take a break.
That is, go ahead and bask in that for a moment.
Jeez, us.
Let that marinate like these ribs.
Man, I am, I am, I'm trying to put these pieces together in my head right now.
I'm so blown away by this.
Do you see, do you hear when you say it out loud?
Yes, but it makes sense, sort of.
What?
It's our spending.
it's us it's all about us you gotta take a break we'll be back after this my god
we're gonna get into a round of giant doesn't know in a moment uh give you access to the next
four shows happening here at k rock if you'd like to play and win you can give us a call at
800-520-1067 uh we will get into that uh first of all as we wrap up that conversation about your
wife and the card and the gift giving you know there is a guy that we just heard from a moment
ago he is our relationship expert unofficial but he's called in at the end of every petty
claims court. His name is Zeke. Got a chance to meet Zeke
yesterday. I couldn't believe it. We were all starstruck.
It was incredible to meet you, Zeke,
in person at the Siesta
Fiesta. And what is it that you had in your pocket
that you said was worth $1,000?
That drink you were drinking?
It was a Trish, man.
That codeine.
Oh, it was codeine you were drinking. Okay. I thought I kept saying
it was Robitussin, but you said no. It was much better
than that. So you were drinking the codeine.
And that's the good stuff right there.
Yeah, you can't drink Robitussin
and I'll kill you. Right.
And is it better when you drink it out of a baby bottle as you were, or is that just how you like it?
No, the baby bottle is just so you can measure the ounces of how much you're going to put in.
Yeah, you don't want to drink too much codeine, Allie, because then you pass out and go into a coma.
See what I'm saying?
So he knows the right way to do it.
And that amount you had on you was worth $1,000 in the streets?
Yes, sir.
$200.
That's good.
I should get into that codeine selling.
That's good business.
That's a great lane for you.
I think I should do that.
The codeine around here is called one of Allie's stories.
That puts us out like codeine.
Hey, Zeke, you're calling for a reason because you want to comment on what I have to say.
Yeah, take this out.
Allie, you need to put Katie on the back burner.
That's what you need to do.
Put her on disregard.
You mean, by that you mean divorce or what?
Oh, no, no.
I ain't here to break up no happy home.
I'm just saying, you know, you just got to put her on, put her on time off, put her on break.
Like, just let her deal with it.
she don't want to put in as much as you put in that she don't want to put in i feel like
she got a feeling it though you know like all right well i'm taking this like you're gonna
have to pay this regardless and then she don't do it well you know he's saying he's saying now
you gotta put that credit card on a freeze hers doesn't work oh i speak zeke i speak zeke now
you know it's great yeah he was talking to klein for a while and klein was nodding his head i
didn't think he understood what most of zeke was saying but you did yeah well zeke uh a couple
things. Zeke's got, obviously, the
slang, but he's also wearing a ridiculous
grill in his mouth.
And so some of the words, I think, were getting
trapped in the grill. But I picked up most of
what he was putting down. Right, Zeke?
Yeah, you know how it is. Sometimes
it's hard to talk when you got gold in your mouth.
You know? Yeah, I
tell you. How much is all that gold worth?
Is that worth more than the... How many codeine
baby bottles? Yeah, like you had
$1,000 worth of codeine in your pocket, but
how much is the gold in your teeth worth?
It's about like a
I'm probably like almost a full bottle, you see what I mean?
And my teeth is 1,500, it's 14K, you know?
This seems like wise financial investing.
You know, it's no spend September, were you aware of that?
Oh, yeah, I wasn't aware of it, but I'm still spending.
We got money to spend, so it's not a problem.
Okay, good.
Yeah, Allie went up to Zeke yesterday and said, hey, congratulations on your parole.
He called and said he was getting off parole early.
And Zeke's like, nah, girl, I got another year of parole.
Yeah, but your parole is ending earlier than you originally thought, right, Zeke?
Yeah, they took five years off of my parole.
Yeah, that's what he was excited about.
That's nice right there.
But he was like, no, no, no, I'm still on parole.
And we were like, well, you have tons of illegal substances on you right now.
Zeke asked if I wanted to smoke with him yesterday.
I said, that sounds fun.
And then he proceeded to pull out what looked like a pound of weed out of his pocket.
So I don't know what was going on there.
But this guy...
You didn't come empty-handed.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
You're a good guy to have at any party.
You're invited to every future show hang we ever have, Zeke.
It was really nice to meet you.
And I'll tell you who was really starstruck.
I brought Zeke around to say hi to some of the regulars.
He got to meet the Bud Light Bros, and he got to meet the second hand.
He got to smoke a cigarette.
Blind Charlie was, man, he was so impressed.
He goes, you're Zeke?
Oh, my gosh.
So, anyway, you made a lot of people very happy.
Thanks for coming by to hang with us yesterday, Zeke.
Yeah, of course, man.
I appreciate y'all, you know, letting me stop by.
And secondhand Cindy Wu, man, you put me through as I met her.
She just got the blood started.
Big teeth, and I was like, that's right, that's right.
I don't know what you're saying, but sure.
He's saying secondhand Cindy's a real one.
She lit up a blunt.
I think she was trying to drink your codeine drink, too, wasn't she?
Oh, yeah, she was.
You know, she was.
I told her she could go ahead and tip that one time.
Oh, man.
But she ain't new to this.
She already know what to do.
She know how she know.
Right, right.
Zeke's the best.
He's the best.
I had to stop secondhand Cindy from drinking it a little bit.
Why?
Because she drank it.
I don't know if she would have woke up, man.
No, no, she's a real one, dude.
She's fine.
She was taking fat hits of his J, though.
Like, that was pretty sick.
Yeah, you know what I also learned about secondhand Cindy yesterday
is that she can't get sick anymore.
She hasn't gotten sick for 30 years.
She thinks she can cancel it out with booze and with cigarettes.
That's the recipe.
Well, Zeke, a real pleasure having you there,
and thank you for always calling with the insight.
If you'd like to, join us for some Giant Doesn't Know.
We'll get into that after this quick one from Dominic Fyke.
Chance for you to win your way into the next four shows here at KROQ
At 800-520-1067
That's next
Alright so one question lightning round
If Johnny doesn't know
You don't need to know the answer to the question
So if Johnny does all you have to do is predict will he know or will he not know
This is the easiest way to probably get into the shows
If you don't want to win them throughout the day on KROQ
Just win them right now by predicting yes or no
With this one question for Johnny
Doesn't know
No that's not it
That's not the answer
Johnny doesn't know
And I was like, okay
Oh, Johnny doesn't know
I didn't know Vegas was like in Nevada for like a while
Johnny doesn't know
Johnny doesn't know
Gelato sounds like Jell-O
Johnny doesn't know
It like goes
Wiggles
All right, let's say good morning to Kimberly in Hawthorne
Welcome to K-Rock
Kimberly, you have your future in your hands right now
If you're wrong, I'm going to pick up one of these other people
And give them your ticket
So currently they're yours
You could lose them, though, or you could earn them with the answer to one question for Johnny, all right?
Okay.
Okay, I like that confidence.
Sorry, Kimberly.
Listen, let's assume you're going to win now.
Johnny, we have a question about CPAs and why would someone need a CPA?
Will Johnny know this, yes or no?
Absolutely not.
Okay, Johnny, why would someone need or use a CPA?
She says you will not know.
uh damn you don't even know where to start with this one do you not even i want to say c stands
for child and then p stands for protection child protection but then i don't know what a stands for
um it could be association or agency um the question once again don't worry about what i'm
not gonna ask you what it means because i know that's too much so why would why would someone
need or use a
CPA. So it's an item then?
It's not like an agency or like a...
Could be any of those things.
But you don't have to tell us what it means. I know you're getting tripped up
on what it means. I'm more concerned about why
someone would need it. She doesn't think you'll know, by the way.
You know that song, 1985
by Bowling for Soup?
Yes. One prozac a
day, husband's a CPA.
Is that the same thing? So it's
a job role. It's a position.
Interesting. It is a job.
Let's lock in
Job.
It is a job.
Job.
Job.
So it means job.
It's a job.
It is a job.
Why would someone need a CPA?
Right, once again, the only question I'm asking is why would you need a CPA?
Maybe something with law?
A lawyer?
Mm-hmm.
Or...
Lawyer.
A lawyer?
Lawyer?
All right, Kimberly, you said Johnny wouldn't know.
You feel strong about that lock-in answer?
Yes.
Yes.
You are going to the next four shows here at KROQ.
Congratulations.
so we will see you
at all them shows
I didn't know
oh you didn't know
CPA
CPA Johnny
CPA is a
certified

no
oh
certified
pension associate
mmm
smart words
what's another
smart P word
P
progressive
mm-hmm
certified public
oh
association
uh
attorney
cow
a county
Accountant.
Oh, accountant.
Man.
Assertive?
Wait.
That took us a while there.
I think he got the T at the end.
He can lead a horse to water, and then he will crap himself.
Drink Gatorade.
Wait, what does this do in taxes?
Tax person.
Oh, a tax person?
I thought your uncle is that, by the way.
He's a tax man, but we don't call him CPA.
We call him Uncle Eddie.
Yeah, but I assure you he's a CPA.
Everyone needs an Uncle Eddie.
Uncle Eddie's the homie.
CPA is clearly short for Uncle Eddie.
That's your takeaways.
We'll get to them next.
That'll do it for us.
Get the hell out of here.
Don't worry.
We'll leave you with the very capable and slightly clammy hands of a sluggo
who will be in here in moments to continue to give you access to all four shows
upcoming in the KROQ In-N-Out Burger Sound Space,
which includes but not limited to Fontaine's D.C.,
The Paradox, The Beaches, and Dexter and the Moon Rocks.
So you'll have access to all four of those shows,
which means lots of burgers in your future and lots of music in your future.
And, yes, it is one of the more generous things we've given.
But just wait.
There's more.
We've got to give away those Tenderfest tickets today, so we'll do that again tomorrow.
In fact, we'll double up the tenders tomorrow for you so that you can go be a part of Tenderfest on Saturday.
And let's do takeaways from today's show.
What do we got?
562, my takeaway is Sidney Sweeney covers her cha-cha with her dog.
That's only something you would have learned on this very show.
818, ribs get dibs.
Ribs get dibs.
And I think that that's an important thing that we spread throughout society.
If anyone ever deals with a person that removes their ribs to make a baked potato, shame, shame.
on that person.
And Allie is a potato protector
and she'll always be known as such.
That is another takeaway,
Allie the potato protector.
213, my takeaway is
all hail the bunion queen.
She does look like a manlier version
of Paul Bunyan today.
Come over to the dark side, baby.
818 Weirdos and Assholes Night
will be the next show hang at Descanso.
Mark your calendars.
818 Mahjong.
Mahjong?
Mahjong.
I like the way that guy delivered it.
4-2-4, fart walks are next to the art walks.
6-2-6, Katie's a communist.
And when you're in the forest, all you can eat is nuts.
Also, 2-1-3, Allie is recorded.
Allie is recorded.
We learned that on today's show big time.
What's your takeaway?
What's your name?
Postmaster Johnny?
Klein Allie's show is a soulless train.
Soulless train.
What a party that is.
So what is your takeaway, Vanessa?
Sandy Jambalaya.
The leavens of the fridge.
Oh, the leavens.
Everyone loves that Sunday jambalaya.
The leavens.
That's the fun.
That's where the fun begins.
Jake?
Every kid loves a rack of ribs in their lunchbox.
Oh, man.
Not you, because you didn't say thank you still.
Corn dog, man.
You're so much better.
I think I may have just sworn.
I got a dump out of that.
They were great.
Allie, you have a takeaway?
My takeaway is He-Man's twin sister is Skippa.
Skippa.
And Omar, final takeaway?
Call Sweet James if you ever get de-whiplash.
Yeah, you get that de-lash.
You've got to call Sweet James.
All right, have a great day.
Do it tomorrow.
Try to do it better.
If you need us in the meantime, there's a GOAT line for you.
Remember, tomorrow, bright and early, join us for the $500 Friday chance to win an easy $500 Valley's Money.
She lost today, so that losing streak could continue tomorrow.
And in the meantime, please download the podcast, subscribe, comment, critique, write anything about this show, good, bad, or otherwise.
And give us a star rating, because all that stuff kind of helps, believe it or not.
And it keeps us here for at least another day, which is good for all of us, except I'd love to have tomorrow off because it's a Friday.
But we'll be here anyway.
That is your thing.
All right.
Well.
And then Monday.
And then Monday.
That's your thing, baby.
Let's get out of here.
Bye.
Climbing alley.
It's just okay.
Climbing alley.
It's just okay.
Oh.
Climbing alley.
It's just okay.
Just okay.
Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
And that will just about do it.
I know what you're thinking.
How is that it?
Time just flew.
God, I would have loved a little bit more Klein Alley Show.
Well, good news.
There is more Klein Alley Show, and it's for your eyeballs.
Yep.
You can check it all out on live stream at KROQ's YouTube, and you can watch along.
You can like.
You can subscribe.
Get us to that 100K.
Or if you're listening to this, maybe we're there already.
No, we're not going to edit that out, so you got to hear Alley stumble over the word.
Regardless, if you want to be even more involved in the Klein Alley Show universe, that's right.
It's a whole universe, just like the Marvelverse, only way less impressive.
And way smaller.
You can get involved on the Instagram,
Klein Alley Show, the socials.
Technically, I think we're still on Twitter,
although I don't know if we've tweeted in a while
or X'd in a while.
But more importantly right now,
they're really pushing this YouTube hard.
So please do us a solid.
Go over there, KROQ's YouTube,
subscribe, follow, like, all that stuff.
And I want to watch some of the content,
stuff that we do on the show.
You can also share with other people.
YouTube Shorts, a great way to introduce people
to the show that may not be listening.
You're already putting up with us
and listening to this weird announcement
after the podcast.
So at the very least,
You could force a friend to do it as well
And now listen to this entire thing in 2x
You can listen to us on the live stream
Oh I want to eat my breast
