Starting point is 00:00:00 Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headlines. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on. A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Harrodsburg Road, great crowd on a Friday, whether you're sipping a handcrafted cocktail or sharing one of Parlor's signature pizzas. It's a spot where great food and good times come together.
Starting point is 00:03:27 We just had the hot honey pepperoni pizza during the break, and I'm going to go ahead and say, I'm ready to say this is my pizza spot in Lexington. I've got other ones I like, but I don't think there's a better combination than that one. That absolutely lives up to all the hype. It was delicious. Delicious. Thank you all very much for bringing them out.
Starting point is 00:03:47 You don't want to wait until tip off to buy tickets, so don't wait until January to plan your remodel. Estate renovations is filling up their stuff. spots, brand new kitchen bathroom or a whole home makeover. Try estate renovations. That's estate, r-enos.com slash KSR. Estate renovations. Beat the rush and enjoy the win.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I had a friend who just used them recently and said they did a great job. Estate renovations. All right. So, by the way, good debate here on the text machine about Frank Franklin. You have a pretty good school. As I should. You have a pretty good approval rating, about 80%, 20%, 20%, say you're too negative, but that's good.
Starting point is 00:04:26 80% for this show is a positive approval. I would love to live in Dreamland with those 20 people. But Cory Price told me it has been 17 years since Louisville's had a 20-point lead against Kentucky. So forgive me if I'm a little out of character. Trying to think what team that was that? What team was that? 17 years ago. That would have been 2008.
Starting point is 00:04:44 That would have been a Billy Clyde team. So if that's why I'm a little worked up, I'm not used to be down by 20 to Louisville. It checks out. All right. Let's talk about a couple other things here. First of all, I saw a stat. I was fascinated by this. 60% of Americans, 60%, Shannon, will at some point be in their life be scammed for at least $1,000.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Wow. At least $1,000, 60% Americans will be scammed. So I wanted to ask you, there are only four of us. So it's going to be hard to figure out the percentage. What percentage of people, who on this show, have any of you all ever been scammed for at least $1,000? I'm looking at you first, Ryan. Not a thousand dollars, no. Not a no that you've been scammed.
Starting point is 00:05:40 You did buy a timeshare. That's thousands of dollars. I was given a time share. But I think that in itself. Yeah. Given a time share, it's like, well, I was given a scam. Yeah. So you would say no.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Not $1,000. I mean, we talked about on the show that one guy that tried to get me to pay because I missed jury duty. I think that was like $400. But you came close on that one. That one, he scared me. I mean, that one really kind of scared me until he wanted me to pay over the phone immediately. Like, wait a minute. I do think ultimately it's mostly really older people that that happens to.
Starting point is 00:06:12 What about you? No, and I get like three voicemails a day from spam. I don't answer my phone and I barely check email, so they're trying. But I feel like I'm, it's going to be hard. to penetrate this wall. I'm not paying attention to any of that stuff. There could be real concerns, people trying to reach me and I ignore them.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Shannon? Not that I'm aware of, unless they just took it out of my bank account and I didn't know about it. Well, it depends on what your definition of scam is. Yeah. But lost money in a pretty big thing. That would be what I have.
Starting point is 00:06:41 But that was, I know, it wasn't a scam, but I had something go wrong that was a significant amount of money. It's very frustrating. I've allowed somebody to borrow money and they never paid me back. It's more of a swindle. Yeah, that's what I would say. Mine was more like a swindle.
Starting point is 00:07:00 I don't think it was a scam. And I think borrowing money is a different situation. But, you know, I invested in something that was the person ended up being a complete and ended up going to prison. Seems pretty serious. Yeah, so that was frustrating. One day I'll tell that story because it's a pretty fascinating story. But yeah, not a scam. But 60% was a number that absolutely shocked me, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:07:32 And it also tells you how we have to be very careful to protect, especially our parents and older folks because it is amazing how successful it looks like people are at doing. AI also is going to be a problem in the future, too. People not knowing what's real and what's not. I mean, you can have that happen. If you're not careful, sometimes I'll see something that's like, UPS, please put in your information, this package is blah, blah, blah. And if you hit reply, you'll realize, oh, that's not a UPS email address. You know, that's like, but like if you first see it, you go, well, I need my package, so of course I should do it.
Starting point is 00:08:07 That's the most important thing you can do is look at the at after the email. A lot of times it's gibberish, but it'll say Twitter at blah, blah, blah. Like, just make sure it's a real.com. Yeah, we get a lot of these as realtors. They try to say we need to pay something for our training and licenses and stuff. And like Drew said, you just punch them. Who sent it to you? And it's at a Gmail address or something like that.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Or there'll be one-letter difference in the thing. You do have to be careful. Also, if someone's ever trying to collect and they want your info, say, well, if I owe you, you give me my info. What's my? Because they should know it if it's a real list. Yeah, I came very close on that once. Had someone call with the IRS and they were like, you owe X amount of money. And I was like, well, it's consistent.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I could owe X amount of money. But then I was reminded, the IRS will never ask you for anything on the phone. That's something to remember. The IRS, good tip for everyone. The IRS will never ask you for something on the phone. They will do it. They never ask for a payment on the phone. And actually, they probably will never call you.
Starting point is 00:09:08 But they certainly will not ask you for payment. So that's always something. I did get an email from the Nigerian Prince one time. I thought I was on those. Those are usually easier to figure out. Ryan, high school football, elite eight this weekend. There are some massive matchups across the state. I think Boyle County plays Highlands.
Starting point is 00:09:25 That's a big one. You usually are good at these. Are there any that you stick out for you? Middlesboro and Pikeville, that's the game in the window. The night tonight, I didn't over there in Pikeville. Well, it is for me, but besides that one. I haven't looked. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:39 That's the thing you're supposed to be Mr. High School. You haven't not looked? No, I honestly have not looked. I've been, you know, so. Well, thank you for that. I appreciate your band. The Minnesota plays Pike for that. I think I knew that one.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I think Boyle County Highlands is the one with the two highest ranked people. But for high school football, this is a massive night as all these regional titles go on all around the state. Who's up next? Donnie. Donnie. Go ahead, Donnie. Hey, thanks for taking my call. This team's got a bunch of issues.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I mean, they're all over the board. The talent isn't that great. You've got role players who are not playing rows. You've got O. away who is not playing for UK. He's playing for NBA. He's got to attack the rim. He's got to do what he did last year.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And he's not doing that. I mean, let me ask you a question, sir. I'm not trying to, but you say that with such confidence. He's playing for the NBA. He's not playing for Kentucky. I'm not even saying necessarily, Sarah Lee, you're wrong, but how do you say that with so much confidence? I mean, do you know him?
Starting point is 00:10:53 Like, how would you say that knowing that's the case? I'm saying that as a fan, what I saw last year, what I'm seeing this year. His game is attacking the rim. He's not even looking at the rim this year. That's how I say that out of confidence. Okay, but, I mean, it might be, could it be the case that, could it be the case, that, could it be the case? that's what Mark Pope's telling him to do. I'm not saying it is, but do you know that that's because he's thinking about the NBA?
Starting point is 00:11:24 Matt, it doesn't matter. Okay, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. He's not doing what he needs to do for this Kentucky basketball team. He's not a jump shooter, but he shoots jump shots. If you come into college, you don't have a jump shot, chances are you're not going to get one. Well, I don't disagree with you. I appreciate the call. I don't disagree with you that he's not doing what's best for the team,
Starting point is 00:11:51 and I don't disagree with you that he's not playing to his strengths. That's where we agree. I think it's probably just a little bit of pet peeve of mine that when guys start to play bad, that we then start to assume it's because of their character or it's because of their selfishness, maybe they're just playing bad. You know, maybe they're just making the –
Starting point is 00:12:13 I don't – maybe Mark Pope is saying, I need you to, you did this last year. I need you to do this this year. I don't know. But I do know. I do agree, Drew, that he's not doing the things that are his strengths. That's a fact. And even when Franklin was doing his ran a minute ago, he just left, by the way.
Starting point is 00:12:30 He kept it on the results. Like, I don't know what's going on in players' ears. I know that some haven't gotten better, but I'm not going to speculate on if he's thinking about the NBA, because I have no idea. I have no idea. I have no idea. I have no idea. I can see what I can see with my eyeballs.
Starting point is 00:12:43 I will say he doesn't look happy, Ryan. He doesn't look like the more joyful guy last year, and those things are all concerning, and I do worry about it. The guy we've seen in the last five games, we're not going to win very much if he's our best player. That's right. As we said already, he's got to be the guy. He's got to snap out of whatever funk he's in, whatever's in between his ears he's having trouble with. He's got to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:13:07 You think it's the hair, Shannon? That's what the yoga girl said. He didn't get the dreadlocks back. I mean, his hair, like you cut all his hair off to look professional. maybe we needed the hair to be long. That's right. I need him to look like a basketball player, not a guy that's going to do my taxes for me.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I will say, if he had that hair, we'd have like six guys with the same hair. It's all right. And it's already, I really struggle with Johnson and Aberdeen. Because from afar, they look like when they're dribbling it up and you only see their back, one of them's number one, one of them's number two. They have the same hair.
Starting point is 00:13:38 They're close to the same side. I really struggled, Drew, knowing which one is in the game at a given time. Cam Williams and Aberdeen can kind of look the same too. O.A. sometimes, it's not just a scoring or his hair. I think on defense, he has, like, concrete in his shoes. Like that Garrison clip, I mentioned this before. If you go back and watch it, yes, Garrison is the star of that video.
Starting point is 00:13:57 But O'A's feet are glued to the floor, and he could have helped out and did not. So it's an effort, not just that the offense isn't giving him opportunities. Let me switch gears for a second. Let's say we beat Vandy tomorrow. What happens then? Like, is this – I mean, how does this face? band-based process, four straight wins, and three straight SEC wins. When they're ready to fire him and running out of town, right before this is pre-started.
Starting point is 00:14:22 All of us. I mean, let's not, this is one I ain't putting on everybody else. This show, all four members of this show. Not me. That's actually true. Three of the, no, you're right. You're right. You have not given up.
Starting point is 00:14:36 You were not rate, but three of the four, including you, Ryan, said we need a change, and it's time for. a different coach. So I love you, but you can't they, that's a we. Well, the scenario we said that was that they lost out. I understand. But we, you predicted. That's why you play the season. That's just, to be fair to Shannon, it's what he said.
Starting point is 00:14:58 But all three of us predicted not only he would be gone, but that he would not win these games. So again, we can't they, it's we. So what happens then? Okay, we, a couple weeks ago, we, wanted him out of there, but now, and it won't surprise me if they go down and beat Vanderbilt tomorrow. I mean, we're trending up. I mean, that's why the Louisville game's exciting to me also because Louisville's trending down and we're trending up. Stoop, if he pulls this off, it's his best coaching job since he's been here better than the 10-win seasons if he's able to pull this off.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Yeah, I'm not going that far. I mean, we found cutterball. That's what happened. We looked pretty bad for a lot of the year, and we started Zach Kowzada. I'm not saying it's a, but it will be kind of a rise from the dead. No doubt. The turnaround will be his best coaching job. Imagine you beat Vandy in your scenario.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Then you beat Louisville. You've got a seven-win team who's going to a bowl game. And if you win that, you got eight-wain team. It would be amazing. I mean, it would be amazing. It's not crazy. It is part of the reason I'm focusing on weed, Drew, is everyone wrote him off. It wasn't like a few people did.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Pretty much everybody. I mean, if we're honest, how many of you wrote him off after the two-and-five start? I did a poll at Whiskey Thede and two people held up their hand that they still wanted him to be the coach too so it would be Drew a pretty miraculous turnaround if they're able to win Saturday I don't know I mean we're nine and a half point favorite
Starting point is 00:16:28 so I'm not acting like we're definitely going to win but it would be a pretty amazing turnaround and this is going to sound like I'm taking credit from him but cut or bowling man it's not a one person sport but this is in my eyes all on him there's the complete you know we're flipping switches in basketball. He flipped a switch because it's not just what he's
Starting point is 00:16:47 doing. You see it on the players around him. You see it on the sideline. These guys like each other. They like stoops. And when Bowley took over, it's something completely changed. And he's getting better and better by the week. It is a huge part of it. I'll also note, though, except for the Tennessee game, the defense has been really good since the Texas game. I mean, including with multiple guys out. I mean, we have, I think we have five starters out this week against Vandy. That's my point. A quarterback makes the lock
Starting point is 00:17:13 room wake up. I mean, literally everyone, the trainer, everyone gets excited because you have a quarterback. They've definitely not quit. They've kind of ride around. And back against the wall. I don't know if there's anybody better than Mark Stoops when he's been in these situations in the past. He has been very good throughout history at it. 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-745-254. We will take a break and be right back here at Parlor Pizza. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Last night, a blown call changed the game. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me,
Starting point is 00:18:32 your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
Starting point is 00:18:50 that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Starting point is 00:19:07 Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different. different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keir Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman, catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.
Starting point is 00:20:12 to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the game. and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here at Parlor Pizza.
Starting point is 00:21:04 Two locations, Richmond Road and in Hamburg, 2025 Best of Lexington Pizza. Happy Hour 2 to 6, Monday through Friday with discounts on drinks. Thanks, thanks to folks at Parra Pizza. People, everybody, how's your pizza? Is it good? You guys enjoying it? Yeah, well, good. I'm glad to see it.
Starting point is 00:21:21 859-280-2287. I always get Covington Catholic and Highlands confused, which I don't know, I guess, just because my northern Kentucky lumping it together. Boyle plays Covington Catholic. Highlands plays Corbyn. You got St. X and Mail tonight as well. And, of course, Middlesbrough and Pikeville. If Middlesbrough wins, just for the record, wherever they play next.
Starting point is 00:21:45 week I'm going to go. I think it's like Raceland. Where is that? That's far eastern Kentucky. It's not farther eastern Kentucky than Middlesborough. Well, I guess it could be. Where is it? Is it Ashland? Is Raceland up there next to Ashland? Okay. They play
Starting point is 00:22:01 Paris, I think, tonight. So I think we have to go to whoever wins that game. Paris, I can get to. But if it's Raceland, then as Paul Simon once said, I'm going to Raceland, I'm going to Raceland. Ashland, Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:22:17 I'm jealous your team's still moving on. Mine got cheated, so I guess I'm a Middlesbrough fan now. Go Jackets. It would be nice. I haven't been a shirt. I got a hoodie. They haven't been in like in 20 years, so it would be good. Back to UK Vanity for a second.
Starting point is 00:22:29 3.30. Is it on ABC? Is that right? ESPN. ESPN. So we got a nationally televised games sold out, which they are. I mean, when's the last time a Kentucky Vanderbilt football game in Nashville has been sold out? Never.
Starting point is 00:22:46 I mean, you know better than me. Probably not. I mean, I don't know that for sure, but I would venture to guess that it's been a very, very long time. And we talked about it. If Vandy beats us, that sets up a game with Tennessee with them where they have a shot to make the playoff. But first they got to beat us. Do you, I mean, there's a world in which you could see that as a trap game. Do you think they see it?
Starting point is 00:23:08 You're a Vandy fan. No, they see it as a trap. They absolutely do not. And this will be the only time in my life that Van Baxter. will be in the conversation for the college football playoffs. True. So, yeah, they're going to do it. This is the year they're going to do it.
Starting point is 00:23:21 They're not going to see Kentucky as a trap game. There's been many games with Kentucky, Tennessee, Kentucky Vanderbilt game down there in Tennessee where there are 60% Kentucky fans, 40% Vandy Panes. We used to pack that place. The fans have been showing up. They just sold out like a game earlier this year against Charleston Southern. So, I mean, even these little teams they're playing. They're selling out there.
Starting point is 00:23:40 We have a lot of guys out on defense. They just announced now DJ Waller is out too. I mean, we have, literally, I think, five of our 11 starters out. I mean, we've talked about the secondary was going to be hurt, but they've actually hung in there pretty well. A lot of these young guys is tomorrow the day where you really start to see that defensive issue? I'm very worried about it. I mean, the guys have stepped up and played great, but they're just short on bodies.
Starting point is 00:24:05 I mean, they're missing so many cornerbacks. I'm really watching Alex Safari. He hasn't been downgraded to you. I think he's still questioned. Well, I have a source. Uh-oh. I have an Alex Safari source that's pretty good. A good one.
Starting point is 00:24:18 If you would listen to this show, you might know what it is. I'm going to go ahead and say a very good source to Alex Safari, who told us yesterday he's played. Well, that's big, because especially with how they play and him kind of being the quarterback of the defense, he's the best defensive player outside of anyone on the defensive line who's been good. If he plays, that gives me more confidence. If he's out with five cornerbacks out, I really worry about what Pavia can do. Yeah, I think he's going to give it a go, which I think would help quite a bit. They need him because that defense is, yeah, they're limping in the end of this game.
Starting point is 00:24:48 This one could be a shootout. Do we like Diego Pavia? Yeah, we do. Great kid. Got good head on his shoulder. Nice competent guy. Freddie student. You know.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Could he find a classroom on campus? Down to earth? I have to tell you, listen, just like everybody, last year, Alabama game, I was a fan of Diego Pavia. I thought he was fun. Drew, I'm kind of over him. I'm kind of over like he's a lot. So in other words, he's good, that's why? Because you hate people that are good.
Starting point is 00:25:20 It's not, I mean, yes, but that's not. Like, I like Johnny Mansell until the, it's, he's just, I don't know. He's what we needed Calzada to be. Calzada has that same personality. Diego's already got his money right. Yeah, by the way, does Garrett get a role in MVP for sort of uniting the fan base with the whole Garrett video? If it's all you was. United the locker room, too.
Starting point is 00:25:44 they kind of rallied around that. Kentucky wins one of these next two games and goes so a bowl game. We will be talking about the Garrett moment 10 years from now. That will be one of those things that lingers with the fan base that we can reference and everybody knows what we're talking about. No, I think you're right. I just Diego Pavia, and this is now true about the Cam Scadabo too. It's like a little bit went a long way.
Starting point is 00:26:03 Like it's just like, I heard Big Cat on part of my take say he kind of thinks Pavia, Cam Scadabo and Theo Vaughn are like the same guy. They kind of are. They're interchangeable. He feels like they're everywhere, and it's the exact same guy. If Andy loses tomorrow, I'm going to say that wasn't Diego, that was Theo Vaughn out there playing quarterback. Although it's crazy, Theo Vaughn is my age. And they're saying, like, he is.
Starting point is 00:26:25 So is Diego Papua. Well, he may be. It is a senior day tomorrow. He's going to want to show out. Last game in Nashville. Senior Day, senior citizen day tomorrow with him. Who's up next? Dennis.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Dennis, go ahead, Dennis. Well, one of my questions is, you know, y'all kind of went over was what a percentage of, usually it's, usually the Vandy games down there is usually it's a home game for Kentucky, but how you see that this year? I'd say 90-10 Vandy this year, 8515. I mean, you got to remember when those tickets went on sale to the general public earlier this year, we stunk, and they were good, and then they sold out, so I'm going to think it's going to be vast majority of Vandy fans, maybe for the first time ever.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Yeah, I agree. One other thing here out, I saw the injury port for Louisville on social media, and it was interesting that their quarterback, Miller, Moss, was listed this question. I think, I could be wrong, I think he's now out. I think I saw this morning he might not be playing. So, I mean, you may have a, and I appreciate the call, You may have a situation when we play Louisville, by the way, where we might be playing their backup quarterback and their top two running backs are out too.
Starting point is 00:27:50 I mean, we may be playing Drew a depleted Louisville team next week, which gives us an even better chance to potentially. I mean, if they lose to SMU this week, and that means they come in on a three-game losing streak, it might be odd. The team that may be quitting going into that game is them and not us, which would have seemed crazy three weeks ago. This time of year, I think motivation is a big,
Starting point is 00:28:12 factor. That's not a Mark Stoops joke. I generally think, you know, what the condition of the teams, players are looking to the portal. In some cases, we don't have a coach. Coaches are looking for the portal. That's why I like it against Florida. Louisville's getting that territory where I wonder how much they're going to care. They still have something to play for, but if they don't have a good week this week or they're beat up. I mean, they can't make the playoff. I don't think they can make the ACC championship. So I mean, when they play us, it's just going to be like a pride thing. And I don't know. If they lose to SMU this week, That pride may go away, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:28:43 We might see, like, a team that's not even there. After the last loss, that quarterback blamed everybody but himself. That's kind of maybe a decision. That may be wise hurt this game in parentheses. We'll take a break. We'll be right back. This is KSR. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Starting point is 00:28:59 Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back, Tucky Sports Radio. Stop overpaying for sunglasses if you're tired of buying an expensive sunglasses, is only loser break. I'm Shady Ray's independent American-owned company.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Started right here in Kentucky. Shannon's favorite song with also Shannon's favorite glasses. Shady Ray's got Tom. Tangle-free Aviator's favorite band. It may not be your favorite. Well, that was actually Darius Rucker singing Stone Tbilts, I believe. Oh, well, that's terrible. That's even better.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Shady, is that right? He has a version of that song? Oh, it's better. Stop it. You can't compare to Darius Rucker to Scott Wiley. That was Darius Rucker singing Stone Tbilip? It was. I think, right, Liam?
Starting point is 00:29:40 It was. And so many times people will see it online, and Shannon and I'll get it sent to us 50 times a day. Yeah. Go ahead and play it. No, that's fine. It's Shady Ray's Best Protection Program in the industry, Lost and Broken Replacements at Shadyrays.com. Two things we were talking about on the screen right up there. It came up a Modelo ad, and I was saying to you all, Medello is now the highest selling beer in America, or at least it was last year. Bud Light may pass it back this year.
Starting point is 00:30:06 And that got us to talk about. I don't drink beer. But I always see Bud Light, Miller-like, Coors-Lyke-Lyke, Mickelbe Light, Bush-Lite. To me, they all taste the same, but for you all, that's not true? If you're an experienced drinker like Drew and I are, you definitely know there is a difference between those light beers. For me, if I'm going between those three, Coors-Light, Miller-Light,
Starting point is 00:30:26 I'm going Coors-Light, personally. But it's all personal taste. They probably have 40 beers on tap. Miller-Light would be my 40th pick. You hate it. I don't hate it if I had to. I can get through it, but I, I just, it's like the one beer I will never order.
Starting point is 00:30:41 Really? Or endorse, apparently now. Yeah, you're not going to endorse anymore. To me, as a non-drinker, if I ever tasted, it all tastes awful to me. But like, I didn't, I thought they were all the same. You like the ciders, don't you? I don't really like any of it. But if I have to drink something, I'll drink like, but I can't, I just.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Like an angry orchard? I don't know how you, when you know Diet Coke is in the world, that you would voluntarily choose that. I don't know how you would choose Diet Coke over beer. I would do the opposite. I certainly would. The best beer is Channing the dude brew. There you go. Thank you, right.
Starting point is 00:31:17 USC and Troy is a basketball game that probably none of you watched last night. But you do, on your way home, need to watch the end of the game. It went to triple overtime. I'm not even sure how that game went to. But it was in triple overtime. Troy is up by two. They're trying to inbound the ball. and they end up getting, like they can't get it in.
Starting point is 00:31:42 So they throw it, USC goes and gets the ball. Guy has a shot at the buzzer. Troy guy cannot be playing any better defense. He ends up having to double pump. He shoots a Mo Diabate shot from his waist. Although that's like a normal Mo Diabate shot. But he shoots it double pumps and it goes in for three. And like, if you watch it, I didn't see any of the game,
Starting point is 00:32:04 but you have to feel sorry for Troy. They go from Troy, Alabama to L.A. They're leading. There's three seconds left, and they have the ball, and they find a way to blow it, Ryan. It was a brutal loss for the team from Troy. They had to lose it like that. A guy Jacks won from his belly button down, and I like that double pump. That hurts even more.
Starting point is 00:32:25 There have been almost no power for schools getting beat this year. Like, almost none. A lot of that's NIL because, like, now the discrepancy between the leagues I mean, but there's been almost none. Part of it is the good teams that are mid-majors. We talked about teams aren't even scheduling them. So like the Belmonts of the world can't get games against good teams. But Pitt, I think, lost to a Division III team.
Starting point is 00:32:50 Arkansas almost lost to Winthrop. But for the most part, the power schools in Sanford. But Arkansas is almost lost twice. But for most of the part, the power schools drew have not lost to anybody. But they're playing each other. And these games are good. The game last night, I think St. John's played somebody tonight. There are good games out there.
Starting point is 00:33:13 And next week, all the best teams are playing in these tournaments except us. Do you wish we would play in one? If you had asked me nine days ago, I would say yes. Right now, no, let's hide. Let's get under the table with Mark Pope right now. On the Troy thing, isn't that? That's what we played last year, and they go to Waffle House every game? So you're telling me they had to go to L.A.
Starting point is 00:33:32 where there's not Waffle Homes, travel all the way back and break that tradition? Because I really, I went to that wall through last year. I really got to like that Troy team, even though they are a competition. Yeah, then they lost the game. So, yeah, that's interesting. College basketball has been exciting. Are you glad we're not playing in one of these tournaments next week? I mean, next week there are some, the Battle for Atlanta,
Starting point is 00:33:50 there are some really good brackets out there where there are like six ranked teams in a tournament. Are you glad we're not doing it now? No, I've always been for that. I've always enjoyed being sitting around in your Thanksgiving vacation and watch Kentucky play in one of these Thanksgiving weekend tournaments. So I know Pope said he was going to maybe get back to that. I'm sure these contracts are already made in advance. So maybe we'll get back into it a year or in a year.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Well, we'll find out. All the contracts for Pope for terms of scheduling were filled through this year. So, like, Cal picked the schedule through this year. But starting next year, these are games Pope agrees to. So really, we'll start to see what Pope's scheduling philosophy is, really starting with next year's season. Who's up next? Alex.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Alex, go ahead, Alex. Hey, guys. Just a comment, not necessarily defending the caller in that earlier segment on OAA playing for the NBA. I also don't know what's in his head or who's in his ear. But Mark Pope did have a really interesting comment in a press conference. I can't remember if it's been covered here if you heard it after the Louisville game. But somebody asked about OA's struggles, and he went on a ramp for a few minutes. But in his answer, he made a comparison to Tom Brady saying, imagine if someone had told Tom Brady,
Starting point is 00:35:04 he can't run the ball like Mike Vic. And then Tom Brady decides to change his game and run the ball more. And that actually does sort of suggest to me that maybe somebody, I don't know, NBA scouts, whoever, maybe say that he does need to prove that he can hang out on the wing and be a true shooter. Yeah, I didn't hear that. I mean, so you're saying he said that after the Louisville game? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Well, I didn't hear that. I mean, that I would say, though, if an NBA scout told him, and they may have. I think they did tell him to shoot more threes. I'm not saying though that's why he's playing poorly. I assume Mark Pope is telling him to do what he needs to do, Ryan, to be good this year. It seems like he's forgotten what got him to this point. He's forgotten that part of his game. Yeah, if you want to shoot some more three.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Well, he was hit. He hit two. Against Michigan State. He's, what, two out of four? Even though he's got an ugly shot, it's broke, but he still hit two out of four. He's forgotten that other part of his game that made him so successful. Yeah, I mean, it's not. I don't think Drew he's taking an irrational number of threes.
Starting point is 00:36:04 I think it's just the thing that he has done so well, he's just not as good at. I think you actually made a really good analysis of that, and we should watch this tonight. He used to catch the ball and be gone immediately. And you're right. It's like he pauses now like you're in the NBA. You see guys do and tries to shake people, and that's really not his game. I don't think he's good enough to do that, you know? Yeah, go to YouTube, type in O-Way highlights from last year,
Starting point is 00:36:30 and that guy's not on the team this year, at least not right. now because it was just instant. He'd get it and boom, finishing through traffic. It's like he was the aggressor, he was the creator, and this guy is sitting around waiting for a lot to happen. Part of that is still the overall offense, but he could also get it started by doing what he did a season ago. Let's do something positive.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Yesterday, UK signed and confirmed the number four women's basketball recruiting class in the country. You can give that a round of applause. I mean, it is the highest ranked UK women's basketball recruiting class ever. It includes, I think, three young women ranked in the top 30 and one in the top 10. You know, this team's young this year. Kenny Brooks, I mean, they're good this season, but they're like set up, Drew, to be really good in the next couple years. He is quietly building a team that I think is going to be maybe starting next year, the second best program in the SEC behind South Carolina.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I mean, they are set up to do that. Yeah, it's such a tough league. he had to move to and, you know, start towards the bottom, but he did a quick job climbing. I think he's just going to continue to climb. And he did what we didn't have for a long time is he's trying to get size. You know, he's got three right now that he calls the big three or whatever he calls them. But, you know, to win the SEC, you know, that's where most of the sizes in the women's game. And he came in knowing he had to compete with that.
Starting point is 00:37:53 They play Louisville. Tomorrow, I think. Isn't it tomorrow? Yeah, it's up against the Kentucky football game, right? Yeah, I think is it, dirt. It's it two. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:02 On ESPN what? It's on the CW. Really? Along with like the Bernie Mac show or something? It's on the CW. That's the lead-in. Wow. Right after 7th Heaven.
Starting point is 00:38:17 Okay. The C-W is, wow. Okay, so anyway. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So we play Louisville. We play Louisville on the CW right in between the Live Tour. And so we play at 2 o'clock and then the man, I mean, that's a huge game.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Both teams are ranked. Yeah. You know, we haven't talked a lot about it, but a big chance. I mean, Kenny Brooks' scheduling philosophy this year has been clear, like, we ain't going to play that being good teams. We're going to kind of sit back and wait for the SEC. So this is a chance early on, Ryan, for them to get a big win. I think we all feel like a final.
Starting point is 00:38:51 The game's there, right? It's there, okay. A final four is in the very near future for this women's program. I don't know if it'll happen this year, but it's coming for the first time ever in school history. They'll make a final four. The men's soccer team, I don't know if anybody watched it last. Did anybody see the men's soccer game last night? Just me and Drew, I guess.
Starting point is 00:39:09 It was sad. So I turned it on. It said nine minutes to go. Kentucky's won nothing ahead in the NCAA tournament at St. Louis. So I turned it on, we get St. Louis's announcers because the game is there. It's foggy, it's misty, it's rainy. The St. Louis people are like, we haven't lost at home in four years. this can't be happening
Starting point is 00:39:32 the Lord is against us like I mean they're very they're very sad and it looks like we're going to win and then with four minutes to go this guy kicks it kicks it to the goalie it is in the goalie's hands like it could not have been
Starting point is 00:39:45 more in his chest and we have a goalie that's like one of the top goleys in the country remember I kicked against him last year you couldn't get anything past him I know so I know he's good I couldn't kick it past. Even you. Even me.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And it went right off his chest. He was literally like, he was holding a baby and it went right off his chest and then squirted to the side and went in. It was an absurd goal. And then we went to extra time. We had a guy get sent off and we end up losing two to one in overtime. I was already ready to celebrate. I mean, when there's four minutes left in soccer, you're 1-0, you're feeling good. And you hate to put a season-ending tournament loss on one person, but you've got to
Starting point is 00:40:28 make that same. I don't know how he didn't make. It was brutal. It was. And the announcers, I hate listening to announcers of the other team when you're rooting. And they're like, who, you can't stop a Billikin at home. And I was like, yeah, shit. And when extra time started, they just had all the confidence in the world at that point.
Starting point is 00:40:43 Are they now 0 and 2 since we brought our play-by-play guy on KSR? No, he won one-one game. He won one-and-two. But he's one-and-two, I think. We'll take a break. 859-9-280-22-87. We are here at Parlor, Pizza, it's KSR. Last night, a blown call changed a game.

Starting point is 00:45:10 the dkng.c.c. io-slash-audio limited-time offer. It's time for our KSR parlay. We have not won since the first two of the first three weeks, but we're still up on the year. As long as we're, even you could lose these last two and we still would be up, but let's get one on the way home.
Starting point is 00:45:27 People get mad because they say I take all the good ones by going first. So I'm going to go last this time to give you all a chance. Shannon, which one do you want? We are going to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Big rivalry game between Duke and North Carolina. Bill Belichick may not even be there. He may be at Jordan Hudson's adult cheerleading competition. He has checked out.
Starting point is 00:45:43 I have taken Duke and the six and a half points on the road. I'm good with that one. I'm good with that one. You're going to take Duke. What about you, Drew? I'm getting crazy. Are you all ready? You want a good one?
Starting point is 00:45:54 Well, it's not going to be as good as me picking the Texans to win last night. It took you that long. Two hours to take a victory lap. Yes, that was a big win, and that's going to pay for my weekend, but go ahead. Buckle up, boys. We are going with the Hilltoppers at LSU. Bring it. Spreads 22-5.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Nuss-Meyers out. LSU is in shambles. They haven't scored 25 points in a game since early September, and the spread is 22-5. Western will not win, but we just got to keep it within 22. Go Hill-Toppers. Wow. You're taking Western to cover at LSU? Motivation season and LSU is a wreck.
Starting point is 00:46:30 They barely scored 20 against Arkansas last week. That's it. Now, that is a gutsy pick. What about you? What's your hockey pick tonight? Not for the parlay, but Michigan hockey will cover one and a half over Ohio State. You got that one. You won it last week.
Starting point is 00:46:44 For the parlay, I got Georgia Tech covering the two and a half over Pitt at Georgia Tech. I like that one too. That was one I considered. Okay, so I'm good with all these. I'll top it off with a game I think is ugly. Tennessee wins by only needs to beat Florida by more than four and a half. I think they win by 20. Florida is getting the credit for having played better than that people thought against Ole Miss.
Starting point is 00:47:09 This is when you then go the counterway. So I'm going to take Tennessee to cover the four and a half at Florida. It sounds like a winner to me. Tennessee hasn't beaten Florida or excuse me, Florida hasn't beaten Tennessee, I think, in a long time. So we got that leaves Tennessee, Duke, Western Kentucky. and Georgia Tech as our KSR Parlay. I feel pretty good about that one. Do you say North Carolina?
Starting point is 00:47:33 North Carolina. You picked Duke. Yeah, Duke. I'm sorry. Duke and North Carolina, Duke, you're right, yes. We just did Western. You're right. Continue on.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Which team do you want? Duke. Duke. Okay, okay. Just making sure. Who's up next? Randall, looking at you like. Randall, go ahead, Randall.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Hey, Matt. You mentioned the other day that the ball team could go to Europe or G-League to get a point guard with Lowe being out? What's the deadline on that? I don't know. I mean, I would have said the deadline is the start of the semester, but then we had the situation with Big Z where he came in like, you know, November and started.
Starting point is 00:48:11 So I don't know. I assume from everything I've seen, you could go get a guy and they could start playing second semester, but I don't know. Which is partially why if Jalen Lowe's going to play, I'd like to see if he could try before December so that if you needed to, you could go get somebody. But as to whether or not they're considering it,
Starting point is 00:48:30 I honestly am not sure. I bet Travis, Kirkreeze is really kicking themselves for leaving now. Well, I mean, it would have been nice to have Travis. I appreciate the call, but I don't think he would be the answer to our issues, right? I mean, I'd rather have Jasper Johnson playing back up point guard than Travis Perry.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Travis Perry, I don't think, solves this team's issue, to be honest with you. Yeah, we talk. a little bit about Jasper. You know, he only played like nine minutes, but he did have three assists. So he is a guy that I think can come in as needed as a backup to facilitate the offense. Aberdeen's the guy who had been disappointed on his offensive end. Great on the defensive end. Disappointed on the offensive end.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Well, he's our leading score, though. We had that one big game. Like the game against Michigan State, I didn't think he did anything to help us offensively. Do you know who our leading shot blocker is? Who? Since some people on the team don't know how to jump on defense? Colin Chandler leads a team in shot blocks. Huh?
Starting point is 00:49:22 By the way, I need Trin'OW to make some shots. Yeah. I mean, Trent Noah's got to, Trent Noah has got to make shots. Like, this team needs that. We talked about Cam Williams, and he's made a couple since then. Trent Noah needs to make him. Who's next? Daniel.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Daniel. Daniel. Hi, Matt, just a follow-up phone call. I talked to you Tuesday when I was driving up to the game, and I had ended up with asking you to please not have a stinker game, and what did I get? A stinker game. Oh, well, that's how it goes.
Starting point is 00:49:54 You guys have just talked about the subject that I was going to bring up. Yes. Why can Jasper Johnson be our point guard? Well, I mean, I think he can. I appreciate the call, and I think, like, he's really good, but I also think he's got to be better on defense, and we've got to see him be able to really facilitate and share.
Starting point is 00:50:17 I mean, I think he's going to get some chances, right? I think he is now. I think if Jalen Lowe's not playing, Mark Pope's going to go, look, we could maybe use this, So we'll see. Yeah, they tried the Colin Chandler experience at Point Guard. That didn't work out so well. So I think now the rotation is Aberdeen and then Jasper.
Starting point is 00:50:32 Yeah. All right, so let's talk about the weekend ahead. Basketball played tonight against Loyola, Maryland. Quickly score. 79-52. 89.65. 102 to 64. 8860.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Our pregame show will be at 4.30 at KS. Barr. So if you're coming to the game, come on by pregame at 4.30. Tomorrow, Kentucky. at Vandy. Pre-game is at 12.30. The game is at 3.30. Also, come watch it at the bar. Give me a score for Kentucky Vandy. 27-21. Kentucky loses to Vanderbilt. We're getting a boly pavia shootout. I'll say 34-31, but Vandy wins.
