So thanks to Whiskey Thief for all they do.
Let's talk about some details this weekend.
This weekend, Kentucky plays 4 o'clock.
Our pregame show will be at 1.30 at KS. Bar.
Let me go over this because I get asked about 20 times every Saturday.
If you want to come to the bar, I'd say get there.
It's really starting at 11.
It'll start having a lot of people because of the early game.
The best time if you want to get to watch the game is get there about 515.
Or, see, the game's at 4, so don't get there at 515.
Get there at, let's say, 315.
And then this time, it's actually good to come after the game
because the game will be over at six, especially if we win.
I'm going to do the post-game show at the bar if we win.
If we don't win, I'll stay home because I don't want to watch everybody be sad.
But if we win, I will do it there.
And then remember, if you want your Super Bowl catering,
you need to get that order in by tomorrow.
You can order online or you can call.
Now, the game, Kentucky's going to be, what do you think, Drew, a six, seven-point favorite?
Low, low, three, two.
Oh, if it's three or two, I'm loading up on Kentucky.
And I don't bet Kentucky, but, like, I feel good about this game.
Do you not feel good about this game?
I mean, I feel pretty good, but the spreads haven't been that big, really.
I mean, I don't make Vegas likes the cats as much as we do.
They should, though.
We got way better athletes than them this year.
Like, most of these SEC teams, in my, I'm just just my argument.
Most of these SEC teams, we have more talent, but their athletes are as good as ours for the most part.
they don't like we I kind of well what was Florida just too easily Florida's got good athletes
but I mean the spread wasn't that much I feel like Gonzaga is going to have a bet put up a better
well Florida one but going into it I feel like on paper I'm much more afraid of Gonzaga than I was
about Florida that's why I just think are you real I think we win by double digits every time
they've played a team every time they've played a major conference team they've gotten destroyed
So I feel like maybe I'll be, I mean, look, maybe I'll be wrong.
I like us by 10 plus tomorrow, Ryan.
I'm confident.
I'm just saying what I think the spread will be.
I'm, I'm in, I'll bet it.
I think Kentucky's going to win big.
I'm just trying to guess what I think Vegas is going to do.
Yeah.
Well, I hope you're right.
I mean, I hope it is two and a half or three because Ryan, I, maybe I'm wrong, but I like us,
I do like us big tomorrow.
Of all these games coming up, I think we got a better chance of winning tomorrow
than beat no miss on Tuesday night.
Certainly than winning at Auburn, certainly than winning at LSU.
I kind of think this is our easiest game of these four.
Like we've been saying all week.
You know, this, and like to me, this is a huge game, huge set to win these two home games.
There's some tough road games coming up.
If you want to help your resume at all, man, are you, like I said, a contender or a pretender?
Go win this game and win convincingly.
I am.
Are you confident?
With two get two starters out, no.
Everything you're saying, if they're healthy, yes.
If they're healthy, yes.
But if Wagner's out, if Trey Mitchell's out, I think Kentucky still wins.
I don't think they win big, though.
But here's the thing about Florida.
We could have lost down there.
I mean, you know, in reality, if we're honest, we should have won here and lost there probably.
There was some crazy.
Florida missed like 13 free throws down there.
And Rob makes his free throw or cow fouls.
We win here.
So I think that would.
I don't know.
know, hopefully on the post-game show, I'm not saying I'm wrong.
But I think we put it to them tomorrow.
Well, I think we do too.
I'm excited, confident, but I mean, I said these same things before we lost to Florida.
I'm just at the point outside of Vanderbilt, there's no game where I'm just overlooking them saying,
and we got this at this point.
There's not a team on the schedule, not even Mississippi State.
I just don't think Kentucky is at a point where we can just assume every game's going to be a winner.
So we all think Trey Mitchell's out, right?
I think so.
Again, I learned my lesson last week.
I'm not talking about scuttle butt of who's going to play or not
because I'm tired of listening to people yell at me,
even if we're right, we're wrong to people.
But I don't think Trey Mitchell's going to play.
DJ Wagner, we'll see.
I hope he plays.
We need him.
Cal seemed to suggest early in the week he would play.
If we have him, I'm even more confident
we run them. I think we run them either way, but we'll have to wait and see whether he goes.
You think he goes? I'm going to let you all talk this time.
You had quite a day last Friday.
Yeah, I'm not getting involved. You think he plays?
I would lean towards no, but I think he will play by March coming around.
He just wanted to get that injury healed up and get him going and get him ready for those
stretch run in March.
I'm not expected him just because I feel like Cal's comments recently.
He's saying he's getting closer, but there's one line that's took out to me.
Cal said, we're going to have everybody back in one or two weeks.
Yeah.
He said that last Saturday.
And as soon as he said that, that made me feel like, well, that's not the Gonzaga game.
Just for the record, before Shannon talks, at Shannon the dude.
At Shannon the dude, because I know he doesn't care.
Now, you say what you think.
Every year about this time, we have an injury, and it's usually one or two weeks,
and one or two weeks turns into three or four weeks, and that turns into going
into March and we still got this injury going on.
I don't think DJ Wagner plays tomorrow.
I'm just going to go ahead and say it.
I think he's probably going to be out.
I don't even want to say how long, but I think he's going to be out longer than what Cal is saying.
Well, I mean, look, objectively, if you look at the statements, Cal has said a couple days three times and it hasn't been that.
So we, there's not going to be anything Cal says that's going to make me say he's playing or not.
I do think he will play at some point.
point soon. But then again, I thought he was going to play against Tennessee. So like the longer it goes,
it's going to be one of these days he's going to end up on that court. But until he walks on there,
I'm not going to think he's going to play. There was a guard last year. I said in February,
I don't think we're ever going to see him. And we didn't see him. And I believe that. I don't think
the DJ situation is anything that is. I think it's legit. He's trying to get back. I just,
I don't know the injury. I haven't heard what the injury is. I don't know how close he is.
I believe it's a real thing where we're just not getting much transparency on what it
is. I want to be clear. I want to be clear because I want to make it double clear. I think DJ
will play this year. But I also want to note for the people that got so angry at us last week,
in February last year, we said Severe Wheeler was not going to play again. And everybody got mad.
And did he ever play again? No. Now, I think DJ will play. And I think he'll play sooner rather than later.
but it's not ridiculous to go, we'll see when we see, right?
I think that's the best way to put it, yeah.
And really, if the injury happened in December, like most people think it did,
and it takes eight weeks, okay, we're getting close to that eight-week mark
where he should be ready to come back and make another run.
Yeah, but we shall see.
Who's next?
Got Donnie up next.
Donnie, go ahead, Donnie.
Hey Matt, my wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary next Wednesday
and she asked me where I want to go and I said, KS.
Park.
Well, that's awesome.
Well, is the game Wednesday or Tuesday?
Do you know?
I'm not 100% sure, but you've got tickets to the Ole Miss game.
So here's what I would say, yeah, come the night of the game.
Come before the game.
If it's your 25th anniversary or whatever the holiday is, text me that morning.
and I'll make sure to save you a table, okay?
Okay, thank you so much, and I was going to ask you about the injuries.
Do you think that some of these injuries they could play through
or a cow just protecting their drafts?
I don't like, I don't, first of all, I appreciate the call.
I don't like to speculate on whether or not they could play.
You don't know these guys' pain levels.
Like, you have no idea.
And so, like, not just you, anybody.
So I don't like to speculate if they could or not.
I would have no way of knowing that.
to be honest with you, I don't know their injuries.
I can't speculate, but I know it do has been playing through injury
because the last two games, my man is in pain.
So that's one person that is doing all they can.
Every time he jumps and lands, if you'll watch the replay and they show his face,
it looks like he's in pain.
And I feel bad for him because it looks like every time,
I mean, for those of you, how many y'all ever had a hurt back in your life?
You know, like, you can't do anything without feeling.
And that dude, think about it.
When he goes on the bench, he immediately puts a back brace on.
So he has got to be in pain.
The team trainer runs to him with the Theragun as he's walking off the court to huddle up at the timeout.
They are treating him the second they can when they get a break in the action.
So you know he's got a rhyme be in pain.
Yeah, that belt he wears you see, it's got like a, like it's got a heating element to it
where they're trying to, you know, keep it as loose as possible.
So because he's battling, man.
That's a tough kid.
He's battling hard.
Let's talk about the offensive coordinator.
Still don't have one.
That's not crazy, by the way.
The job's only been open a week.
If you look at the last few times we've hired one,
it's taken over nine days every time.
So it's not crazy that we don't have one yet.
What is a little surprising, Ryan, is that we don't have a name.
Like, that there really hasn't been anything at all leak.
Does that surprise you after a week?
Yeah, absolutely.
Because you'd think Stoops may have known this was coming
and he already was working some guys,
And by that, you know, it leaked out a little bit.
You mentioned the guy yesterday.
At Georgia Tech.
That's the first time I heard his name.
There was another name that popped up early in the week,
but I think that guy's already maybe taking another job.
He went to the Browns, the guy they were talking about.
Tommy Reese.
Tommy Reese, yeah.
So I haven't heard anything else other than those two guys.
Yeah, I haven't either other than just speculating and message board talk.
But I was confident that Stoops would have something
because Cohen made it pretty clear he was heading out even before the Bucks made him that offer.
When you're on that many lists, I'm hope that Stoops was kind of getting ready for that moment ahead of time.
And I'm a little surprised at a little more talk about it at this point.
But we'll see.
Well, I'll be honest with you.
I mean, I'm surprised I haven't heard a name.
You know, usually at this point, usually at this point, one or two names at least get floated in my direction to kind of test the wins about.
And we haven't, I haven't heard a thing.
So I don't know, Shannon, Mike.
Maybe they got a super stealth guy they're working with.
I'm not sure.
Whoever it is.
I mean, let's take our time.
Let's make sure it's a guy that actually wants to be here for a while, right?
Well, it means it.
It's the dead period in recruiting.
Yeah.
So right now, signing day's over.
There's nobody they can sign.
The transfer portal's not open.
So on some level, they're really not in a rush right now.
Yeah.
Like, if you were going to be in a rush, you would have done it before signing day.
They chose not to.
So now, Shannon, honestly, I think that recruiting doesn't start back for another three or four weeks.
So they actually have some time if they want.
They just need some stability when it comes to recruiting, you know,
continuity for the offense from season to season.
And I don't know who that guy may be, but they need to figure out.
But you do probably want it before spring practice.
That's the one thing where I do.
When does that start?
Second week of March usually.
Yeah.
So you got from now to the second week of March probably to figure out what you want to do.
Who's next?
Got Joe up next.
Joe.
Go ahead, Joe.
Matt, I'll try to be quick.
I don't take all day.
To Shannon, I'm 71 years old.
You hurt my feelings, but, you know, I'm going to go to Bonnie and Pry's and get up
and get a couple of cold beers.
You heard his feelings calling him old.
I'm not going to apologize.
I am old, I'm 71.
Yeah.
And secondly, Matt, and Bonnie and Plyzez, did you order a soft drink,
but you get a glass of water when you got your drink up there?
Say that again.
I'm sorry, I was laughing at Shaddenby in a rude.
Or did you get a glass of water?
No, I get it.
They got me a special Coke Zero, a whiskey thief special.
Well, if you had ordered a cold beer and been up with Bonnie and Clyde's when that place is hopping, that old boy that we call him piece of Ray,
he would have the biggest smile on his face.
The next time you come in, you'd probably have your fish on the wall and say, this is by retirement.
No, listen, let me be clear.
I appreciate the call.
I'm pro-body and clients.
People, if you've never been, you've got to want to go there.
It's out there on Dixie Highway, so unless you're out there, you've got to want to go there.
But I am very pro.
Don't get me wrong.
I'm also pro-stock-to-mortgage, so tell me about it.
I have to read a specific thing.
I'm glad you're ready with that specific thing.
Look at the urgency.
This is going to happen.
This is part of this gimmick.
He doesn't know the exact moment.
He's going to scroll through.
There it is.
Like a slow-mo.
Here's the thing he also does.
Do you know how many of his emails are like spam and he just keeps them?
It says like no reply.
All right.
I still haven't got to pulled up here.
You've gone past five bed bath and beyond.
There we go.
Our friend is Stockton Mortgage are your go-to for home loan needs with 75 branches.
There's one in Frankfurt in location in Kentucky and beyond.
They're license in 28 states.
So they are absolutely growing.
I mean, it really says that.
They want me to say they're growing.
Got it.
Get to know them by going to Stockton.com, NMLS-8259, Equal Housing Lender, NMLS Consumer Access.org.
Where are all these animals coming from?
You know, you got a cat right there next to you that loves you.
It's like there's going to be a goat walking in here, nipping at me.
I like how the resident dog came up and said hello to you.
We'll take a break and be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back, Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Whiskey Thief.
Shooting whiskey in everyone's bottles here.
and there's a huge dog which we need to get out of here it's a good boy the dog likes you yeah what
he's a good boy you know people say uh people say that dogs like know to get around people who don't
like them which uh it's kind of like me with people at shows that i can tell art listening or their
boyfriends dragged him or something where i try to win them over but the dog is not going to win me over
so i'm glad for it to go over there he can just come up to say hello yeah i'm good introduce himself i'm good
he's a good boy uh one person
859-280 2287 one person writes so Shannon's not going to apologize for saying people are old well
I'm not going to apologize for calling him a pipsqueak okay so what I didn't call anybody old I just said
when you get older you slow down a little bit I didn't say any of these people are old all the ooze
and the odds that's yourself calling your what age do you define as old what I think age is a mental thing
Right? So, I mean, when I'm 70, I'm still going to be young because I'll probably be still doing this.
I'll probably still be in the ring, pipslapping people, you know, like I do in OVW.
Do you really?
That's, I, well, I don't want to, I'm not going to put this up because I don't want to embarrass the kids, but last night, OVW was on and it went to a commercial.
And there's a commercial in Lexington where two little kids are standing there.
It's like a legal commercial.
It's two little kids.
And the closed captioning was behind.
And the announcer had like you saying something like,
look at those two girls going at it.
And when it popped up on the thing,
it was just those two little kids.
Oh, no.
That wasn't me saying that.
You get this dog.
Whose dog is this?
Can we come and not have it right here?
I'll get the dog.
859-2-80.
22-87.
Who's up next?
Got Jake up next.
Jake, go ahead, Jake.
Oh, the dog's being escorted it.
I mean, stop yowing at me.
Am I doing you now?
Yeah, take the heat off me and put it on that.
Look, I'm fine for the dog to exist.
You all want him.
I don't.
Let him go over there.
Go ahead.
We lost, Jake.
So we got Joseph next.
Joseph, go ahead, Joseph.
Hey, Matt, I appreciate to take him a call.
Yes.
With regards to the team defense, obviously we're not a good defensive team, but I actually think there's two different ways to play defense.
Joseph, you've got to talk into the phone.
We can't hear you, and you're a, you've been a long-time caller.
You know that.
Help me out and talk into the phone.
I literally didn't do anything different.
I'm sorry about that.
Well, now he does sound better, though, right?
Yeah.
Okay, go ahead.
Anyhow, I was just going to say there's two different ways to play defense, in my opinion.
you have lockdown defense, which is what Cal wants that he's not going to get from this team.
But you also have, like, annoying, nagging defense, which I think this team can do.
It's like Steph Curry.
Steph Curry's not a good defender, but he led the league in steals.
I think we have players who could do that.
It's kind of be frustrating and annoying.
Well, I mean, that's Shepard, and that's Dillingham.
I mean, neither of them can really guard anybody, but they do generate steals by being annoying.
So I don't disagree with you, Joseph.
I think that's a pretty good...
I mean, I don't know how you teach annoying defense, Drew,
but he is right in the sense that we have more steals
than a team as bad defensively as we would are normally would.
Yep.
And Cal made an analogy I liked earlier this week.
He said, Reed is just the rob of defense.
Like, you just got to let him go.
He's going to guard a ghost in the corner,
and you're going to wonder what he's doing over there.
but 10 seconds later he might get a still that leads to a dunk.
That's a really good analogy, actually.
I would actually like to steal it, but Cal said it first.
But I think that nails it.
Reed is going to frustrate you, but at the same time,
he can go on a flurry where in one minute,
you know, he's getting steals and blocks and creating points the other way.
I think what we ought to do, Ryan, is think about
when we're watching the game tomorrow.
Cal's comment that if we could get 8% better on defense, right?
So can we find during the course of the game
four defensive plays
that we didn't make in most games that we make tomorrow.
Because really, that's what they need.
They need to, like, get four stops that they don't get in most games,
and then I think you're fine.
Man, we all hope so.
But you guys hit the, you hit it.
Reed and Rob, they just get caught ball watching it,
and they just get caught out of play so many times,
but yet they can make up for it because they get their hands on a lot of balls.
And with Ugo, like Shannon said at first,
this may be an Ugo game because they have some big guys
to have him back there being somewhat of a rim protector
to maybe make up for some mistakes, maybe huge in this game.
They'll look right at you.
Stared into your soul, Matt.
You know.
It was like, look ahead of you.
It's like, you know, my problems.
Here it comes.
It comes.
He's back.
You get like, like take somebody like Trey Mitchell.
Trey Mitchell, I don't think can play deep.
Like, I don't think there's anything he's going to be able to do to guard people.
Do you agree with that?
I agree.
Like, I just don't think he has the physical capabilities to guard most of the dudes he's asked to guard.
But with Reed and Rob and Wagner, like, they've got the capabilities.
It's just they just haven't been good.
And I don't know that that's going to get better immediately.
I've heard Kyle now say two or three different times in the last week that from now on it's 70% defense moving forward.
So whatever they're doing before, get ready because they're going to be tuning that up.
That's obviously 70% of what they're going to be focusing on.
and Cal is going to force it into them, and they're either going to get it or they aren't.
My mom said, tell, this is my mom texting in, tell Shannon I'm 70 and I'm young.
Yeah.
He needs to know that.
She is.
Sure.
I agree with that.
I'm not calling her old.
I don't think that 70 is old.
Again, it's like you could be young and have an old mentality.
I mean, you're getting up there.
But, I mean, you know, it's all relative.
Who's up next?
Super Dave is next.
Super Dave.
How are you?
How are y'all doing?
Go ahead, Dave.
Okay.
I just want to say a couple things, Matt.
I saw something about who, if Cal was ever going to leave, who would replace him,
and they said that Musselman and Don Staley would be two of the people.
No, they would not.
Yeah, I don't think Don Staley.
There's no way, I mean, I've never heard Don Staley's name,
but there's no way Mitch Barnhart would hire Eric Musselman,
and there's no way he'd hire Nate Oates.
Like he should, those are just the person,
those are personalities he would never hire.
Yeah, I agree, I agree.
Also, I wanted to tell you that, uh,
you all came to a remote on Dixie Highway a couple years ago
when Andrew and Aaron, Aaron Harrison were playing for Kentucky,
and I told you my sons were named Aaron and Andrew.
And, uh, today is Andrews 30th birthday,
and I wanted to want to know if you'll give him a shit.
Happy birthday to Aaron 30 years old.
You said a couple years ago, that was a decade ago when Aaron and Andrew were here, but happy
birthday to them.
We'll take a break and be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio live at Whiskey Thief.
T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney.
Call T.J. He'll make them pay.
Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Welcome back. Tucky Sports Radio here live at Whiskey Thief.
I want to thank this big crowd here today.
you guys always show up.
This is one of our more remote, remote locations,
and yet we always get a great crowd here.
So thanks to all of those folks.
Guess next week, we had a remote schedule,
but it's getting postponed because we've been invited next Friday.
The Kentucky legislature is voting to make next Friday
OVW Day in Kentucky, thanks to the success of the wrestlers.
So this is what.
I'm going to do the show.
We're going to do the show Friday from the Capitol,
and the wrestlers are all coming to take a picture on the floor of the Kentucky Senate.
So that's going to be a great picture with Mr. Pectacular and all of the crews sitting there on the,
or standing there on the floor of the Kentucky Senate.
Pectacular, luscious Lawrence.
I'm just trying to think of all the different characters that we have standing next to politicians.
That would make a great picture.
It's going to make for a great picture.
Should I wear my spandex and blinged out jacket?
Definitely need to wear your spades.
They said, so they said the wrestlers could dress in their wrestling attire as long as it was tasteful.
I don't know if you in leather pants is tasteful or not, but we will give you a chance to do it tomorrow.
Okay, I'm looking forward to that.
Yeah, next Friday.
So I'm very excited about that next Friday.
One person writes, Matt, I pray regularly for you to fall in love with a woman who has kids and a house full of animals.
I don't think that's possible.
Is that possible?
Of course.
Of course.
Like, everybody acts like I'm anti-antikea.
I've dated women with kids.
You know what I, don't you act like that.
I don't act like that.
No, I'm dating with, no.
So look, I've dated women with kids.
Here's my thing with women with kids, though.
I think it's important.
Like, if a woman has kids, they, I don't want them introducing them to me unless it's like a serious thing.
You don't want kids to keep meeting a different dude all the time.
So how many, how many dates is the right amount of dates before you introduce
someone to your kids.
I think that's a person by person thing.
But like, I didn't think we were going to get in this today.
I've dated one person who I met their kids.
And I, but like I've dated other people that have kids, but I'm like, until it's really a thing,
I don't want your kids to, like, grow attached.
Because I don't think that's fair to the kids.
Not that they would like me or not.
I'm just saying, I don't think that's, you know what I mean, Ron?
You have kids.
I don't think it's fair to the kids to like, especially because they've all tended to be little kids.
If they were adult, it might be different, but if they're little kids, you know.
I'm actually going to stand up for you for a minute.
I think you get a bad rap about you and kids.
You're actually really good with kids.
I'm great.
I'm not good with animals.
I am really good with kids.
Dogs is another story.
But, yeah, when it comes to kids, you've always been great with my kids, hubby's kids.
You know, you can relate.
You get on that childlike mentality.
I think with them you can connect I think they just think I'm just an older version of them
what's your favorite skittles flavor yeah you're going over candy I mean I think they're like
oh I like those shoes like that's like okay so kids aren't a problem what about let's say she has two
dogs and they have to live inside animals are tougher I'm gonna be honest with you I'd rather you have
kids than dogs they have to be inside dogs are tough because I'm scared of them I'm just being
honest like it's not that I hate them it's just like take that dog that was right
here. Biko, he has a name. Yeah, it. It was here. And like, it's fine. Like, he seems like a
perfectly not, but like it makes me antsy to have it around me. And so, you know, just pick the
animal that makes you scared. Let's say if you're scared of snakes. If somebody just put a snake
next to you and was like, hey, man, it's fine. It's just a normal snake. You'd go, yeah, but it's a snake.
Yeah. That's how I am with dogs. I don't know what it is.
is i understand it's not rational shannon i get it but like you still you're scared of what you're
scared okay motley cruz backup dancer bailey let's put her in this situation girl you fell in love with
last summer was your summer love two that was two years ago two years ago let's say that she has
she has a dog but it's bailey yes i would learn put up with that dog to have bailey i would learn
to deal with it i think i would too i think i would too live in pit bull yes but like i probably
wouldn't see the dog. I try to see the dog as rarely as possible.
Yeah. I understand. You learned to live with it. All right, it's our
draft kings. It is our draft king's SEC
games of the week. We did, we'll do Kentucky Gonzaga quickly. Alabama
at LSU. Who wins, right? Alabama. I think LSU is
fools gold. I don't think there's good as people were trying to make them up to
me. Drew. Alabama. Alabama.
LSU beats them on the road in an upset.
I'm taking LSU to pull off the upset.
That would be good for us.
Vandy at South Carolina.
What are your chances your doors still win?
Zero.
South Carolina wins.
By the South Carolina wins this game.
Guess what their record is?
21 and 3.
21 and 3.
Yeah, they're good.
South Carolina, 21 and 3.
That's crazy.
You know what people don't realize much with that coach?
He was a Wisconsin assistant in 2015.
So everybody's talking about how good he is.
Let's not forget that he came up with the devil.
Auburn at Florida.
Big game.
That should be a good one.
But I'm going to go with Auburn.
I think Auburn wins that one.
Auburn.
I think Auburn's going to win the conference now.
I think Auburn is one of the top two teams in the country.
I'm taking Auburn, too.
Georgia and Arkansas.
If Georgia wants to make a tournament, got to win this.
Yeah.
I'm going with Georgia.
Arkansas struggled this year.
Arkansas seems to be a mess.
I guess I'll go Georgia too.
Arkansas is a mess, but I think they can win this at home.
I'm going to go Arkansas.
Yeah, I'm with you.
Arkansas's a mess, but they win.
Mississippi State at Missouri,
wall tape Mississippi State Missouri I didn't even want to game yet.
Big game at night, ESPN, 8 o'clock, prime time.
Tennessee at Texas A&M.
Texas A&M, this is a big one for them to make the NCAA tournament as well.
Could be a big game for us in the standings for the SEC.
We need Tennessee to lose, but I think Tennessee wins.
I got the A&M upset.
Tennessee didn't have their hangover after beating Kentucky.
They won by 20 the other night.
A&M's got a good defense.
That would be a good environment.
Tennessee's got to come down a peg.
I think they lose.
Yeah, I'm taking A&M as well.
well. There's a great matchup between Ziegler from Tennessee and Wade Taylor from Texas A&M.
Two dynamic players that I like way both of them play. I'm going A&M.
I'm excited for this game tonight because first of all we need Tennessee to lose.
If we want to have a shot to win the conference, we still play Alabama and Auburn.
Tennessee's schedule is doable. We need them to lose tonight.
If you were able to have any hope to try to get them and be able to beat them in that last game of the year for the conference,
we need them to lose tonight or tomorrow night. I'm taking A&M.
Who's next?
Got Tim up next.
Tim, go ahead, Tim.
Hey, gentlemen.
Hope you can hear me.
I'm walking on the beach in Hilton Head.
It's a little windy, first and foremost.
Humble by.
Matt, your post-game, Tennessee,
I don't know, preamble, you were right on,
and I just think the fans have gotten tired of always having a player.
Hurt, maybe hurt, maybe he wants to play, maybe he doesn't want to play,
maybe he wants to go to the draft.
And he kind of touched on losing the fan base,
Calapar, losing the fan base.
because of situations like that.
And you need to Google characteristics of people that don't like dogs
because they are few and far between, but I respect your opinion.
I'll take my answer off here.
Thanks, though.
You know, I don't know what to say about that.
But as far as your first point, I do think the injury thing has been tough for UK fans.
And here's why, you want to be honest,
here's why Cal being up front with injuries frustrates me.
because it actually punishes the kids that are really injured.
Okay, because everyone has become so skeptical,
if a kid's really injured, we're skeptical about them too.
And that's really not fair to those kids.
I mean, let's say, you know, let's say somebody, like, perfect example is Theero.
Theero, if you were on message boards, you heard it, Drew.
There were people going, ah, I don't know if he's really hurt.
When it's clear that kid is not only really hurt, he's in a lot of pain and he's playing through it.
That speculation is not fair to him.
But it happens in part because we've had years in a row here, Ryan,
where we don't really ever feel we're getting the real story on the injury.
And I think we all feel like DJ and Trey are both really injured.
They are.
But there's been stories surface on both of those guys in the last couple weeks.
Because again, remember what I've said.
This is true.
I keep saying this.
It is true on sports.
It is true on politics.
It is true on life.
When you don't talk, people's interest is not going to go away.
The interest will be, the void will be filled with hot air from somebody else.
And that's why you're always a lot better to just come out and address it, Drew,
because people are going to speculate if you don't give them the information.
Because there's been some years of it, and there have been some players that could have given it a go and they didn't in the past.
this team has felt it. It's not fair to them.
Like, Aaron Bradshaw got it for no reason.
Lots of people were comparing him to Shaden Sharp.
And that guy's like, I'm just hurt.
I'm just trying to play basketball in Kentucky.
But because we've had scenarios in the past as a fan base,
you kind of feel like here we go again.
And really, these guys are hurt.
It's just they're having to fill it from things that have happened in the past
that weren't handled the right way.
This Valentine's Day, Shannon,
why don't you help your sweetie,
soothe your sweetie with cornbread hemp?
I would love to.
Miracle, Seth.
Don't settle for low-quality CBD when you can get the best, and it's right here from Kentucky.
It's the number one CBD company.
It's cornbread hemp, one of Louisville's five fastest growing businesses in 2024.
Did you know that?
I did.
Yeah, they are crushing it.
Absolutely.
I didn't know that.
I went to a Christmas party.
I heard.
Yeah, I skipped that one.
And with a 10-gay guarantee, there's no better time to try.
Go to cornbread hemp.com.
The promo code is KSR.
We'll take a break.
Come back.
Final segment here at Whiskey V.
This is KSR.
Welcome back.
Final segment here, Kentucky Sports Radio.
Come on, it's the last segment.
Let's try again.
Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio.
There we go.
There we go.
Getting ready for the, getting ready for,
first of all, a couple things that I didn't realize sitting there.
There's Billy's parents are here.
Yeah.
Billy's dad, I think, is going to the Super Bowl.
He's got Super Bowl tickets.
So we talked about this on the Fade This podcast.
And by the way, if you're listening, if you want something to listen to this weekend,
the Fade This podcast with me, Drew, Billy's our producer, is very good.
It's a Super Bowl preview, sort of.
But it's mostly us just telling stories.
But Billy said you won, you won Super Bowl tickets, right?
You won the ability to buy tickets.
And you've been offered $8,500 a ticket for each one.
debating on the show whether he should sell them or go but you're going right yeah he's going he's going
to Vegas I think and then they're going to decide right yes he's gonna fill it out yeah yeah
yeah for me well we had this debate on the show but for me I'm selling that but I understand
if if he decides to go 8500 a piece yeah yes yeah oh I'm selling those
faster than I can say it my goodness yeah too one person
writes Matt you know who else doesn't like dogs Donald Trump yet another way you guys are
alive guys really are I mean you guys really are similar a lot of similarities stop okay so yeah
yeah he doesn't like dogs yeah he doesn't drink picks up his puts he likes McDonald's
he likes McDonald's both of you about six four and we're about the same height we're both a little
better at golf than people think but then we also pick up
You have your own rules.
So, first of all, don't say you have to see us in the same room, okay?
We have been in the same room at the Republican convention.
No, I still can't stand him, but we do have some personality traits that are similar.
It's like, hey, in the mirror, you're looking right at yourself and don't even like it.
I will say, you know, I, I know I'm one of the last ones.
I still like Joe Biden, but I think he needs to.
move aside. I think it's the he needs to let somebody else run because we can't well I'll leave it
we can't have the other dude win and I like Joe but like sometimes Joe talks about other things so
I did hear where he got really mad at somebody for saying he was older or couldn't remember stuff or
something well how dare they he's already forgotten about it.
I'll stop we got to get ready for the game.
Chiefs and 49ers, we, what?
Chiefs and 49ers, Chiefs are a two-point underdog.
I think the Chiefs win the game.
You know, I've actually done quite well betting on the Chiefs the last two weeks.
I'm going to do it again.
Who do you like on Saturday?
I'm with you.
I mean, if you're going to give me the Chiefs and two points,
I'll just go ahead and take the money line at that point.
So, yeah, I'm going to bet on the Chiefs to win.
I made all my Super Bowl bets last night.
I'm done.
don't have to worry about it.
I bet the Chiefs to cover the two.
I bet them on the money line.
And then I did the alternate spread,
chiefs at minus two and a half for a little extra money.
So I'm with you all.
I'm all behind the Chiefs.
How can you bet against Patrick Mahomes, man?
I just know how you bet against that guy.
Now you throw in the Taylor Swift effect.
It's Chiefs, Chiefs.
There's no doubt.
All right.
So the line is set now at five and a half.
Okay, so from the first,
So from the final commercial before opening kickoff.
So like from when they pan to start the game until the final clock hits,
they're setting the over under on times they show Taylor Swift at five.
Now, remember, this is not, this is first commercial to the end.
So not the post-game celebration if they were to win, not that.
Just from the time five, would you take the over or the, or the,
under. We broke this down on fade this, but let me go through. You know they're going to do it
as the game is starting, right? They're going to show the crowd and they'll show who all's there.
You know they'll show it then. If Kelsey scores a touchdown, you know they'll show it then.
Then if he gets a big catch, they might show. So are you going over under five? I'm going over.
I don't think there's any question. Last game, by the way, they only did it four times.
This is a Super Bowl, though. I can't wait until they go split screen.
and they have one camera that just stays on Taylor Swift
and the other on the game.
I saw the L.A. Times, by the way, sent a reporter to the game
to only report on Taylor Swift being at the game.
What a job.
Okay, so you're going to say over.
Over. What about you?
I'm going over.
I have a lot of Kelsey prop bets, including first touchdown,
so I hope it's over because if he has a big game,
I think it goes way over.
Anytime he makes a play, I think they'll cut to that sweet for,
you know, his brother's going to be in there, boozed up.
She's going to be in there.
I think it's going over.
Also, if the Chiefs were to win by a lot, then they have to fill time,
and they'd probably show her all the time in that scenario.
I think over, too, because they'll have to show her once to tell the story
how she just flew in from Japan after the concert last night.
That's another appearance she'll have.
But it's no coincidence that CBS had their highest rated game of all time, wasn't it, last week?
A non-super Bowl.
Non- Super Bowl game last week for the Ravens and the Chiefs.
That's the Taylor Swift effect.
they want the same thing here.
They are expecting on, there's a chance on Sunday that like next to the moon landing,
it might be the most watched television event ever.
The Super Bowl has been going up and up and up and up and up.
And like, there's a chance.
They think this is almost certainly going to be the highest Super Bowl.
There are some historic events.
We had that question in tribute.
Yeah, we did.
There's some historic events that will be higher.
but in terms of like a show, they are expecting this might be the highest rated sporting event of all time.
Big moment, Reba.
You know what the highest rated sport?
You want to know what the highest rated sport of all time is right now?
Does anybody know?
We did this in trivia.
Yep.
The Rumble in the Jungle.
Oh, wow.
I wouldn't have guessed that.
Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed it either, but that was on the list.
Who's next?
Got Jake up next.
Jake, go ahead, Jake.
Hey, Matt, how are you doing this afternoon?
Good.
What's up?
Hey, uh, Gonzaga is Rick Bettino, right?
What kind of reaction you think that the fans are given?
Gonzaga is not Rick Patino.
Gonzaga is, that St.
Yes, it was.
What do you mean?
Yes, it was.
I thought it was Rick Patino.
No, Gonzaga, Ripettino's at St. John's.
Gonzaga is Mark Few.
In his 25th year.
I don't know where I was.
Yeah, I don't know where you were.
I think you've been drinking some whiskey thieves.
I don't know where you were.
I think I had some more.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, Jake, with that, I got to let you go.
It is Don Franklin's family of dealerships.
I want what he's having.
You're looking for your perfect match for Don Franklin's family of dealerships.
I wonder what the reaction to Rick Petino is going to be tomorrow.
But if he gets 27 dealerships across the state,
Don Franklin is the dealer for you.
They're here to serve all of your needs at Don Franklin Auto.com.
I didn't really know how to handle that one.
I didn't think much.
All right.
I thought I was the drunk one.
Free game show is at 1.30 tomorrow.
Thank you to all you folks here at Whiskey Thief.
Let's do the score really quick.
Cats and Gonzaga.

I'll go to Ohio and then.
I'll go 97-92 Kentucky.
89-75.
We are about to destroy Gonzaga.
They stink.
We're going to play exactly.
