This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.

Starting point is 00:02:40 Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-2802287. 15 second clock today. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Text machine is 772-752524. Wingsday all day. Come on out. We, on the text machine, 772, 7754, what person writes, Matt, I listened to the postgame show. I thought Ryan did a good job. I wish everyone that was riding would be nicer. He didn't do anything wrong.
Starting point is 00:03:12 You know, I let the guy say his peace. You know, it's 1 o'clock in the morning. I let him say his peace. He didn't ramble on forever, but, you know, he was very critical of Cal. I think just people didn't like it. Dude, I was just trying to punch this time clock and getting over with. Phone in. Are you saying you were phoning it in?
Starting point is 00:03:32 I definitely. I wanted to do the Paul Feinbaum. I even took calls in the first segment. You took calls in the first segment? I did. Yep. But that's supposed to be that you're feeling, your thoughts. I did.
Starting point is 00:03:46 That lasted about two minutes. Like, well, Billy, let's go ahead and take some phone calls. Got into it pretty quick. All right, a couple things here. First of all, if you haven't seen it yet, I tweeted it out. It's also, Drew, put it on the side of it. if you would. There's a story from Barrett Sports Media. That's the website that covers sports radio. They did a big feature about KSR, about it being like number one and the history of it.
Starting point is 00:04:11 A lot of stuff if you listen to this show, you would know a lot of it, but it's still very good. It's a long profile. But it's good. It mentions Ryan and Drew. I mentioned your name, Shannon. He didn't write it. I'm sorry. I gave him your name. I'm all right with that. Mention's hubbies. Yes, it does. Hubby gets a mention. But it talks about all the stuff we've done here.
Starting point is 00:04:33 So get a chance, check it out. I tweeted it out, and it's just a profile of KSR and the connection to fans. I thought it was really good because it gives a pretty clear explanation why our show succeeds versus the traditional sports show. Like you said, you know, if we come in here and talk 80% of the show about blitzes and dime packages, nobody's going to listen to it. You know, it's more of it. It's an entertainment slash. sports show and I thought the guy that got wrote the article did a good job. I thought he did a good job.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Yeah, he did a good job sort of showcasing all of it. And yeah, I was very pleased with it. Already got my boss at ESPN was like, wow, that's a heck of a ride-up. So that was neat. What was that part about Ryan's new car in there? Yeah. Yeah, so they put in there, Shannon, that I said
Starting point is 00:05:17 that Ryan crashed his new car, which I don't think I said to him. I know I didn't say it to him. He just assumed it? Well, I said that like we talk about things that happened in our lives and he was like give me an example and the problem is when you say give an example like your mind goes blank and so i was thinking i wasn't going to say you know i didn't want to give the example of smoke alarm so what i meant to what i thought i said was that i hit drew's car
Starting point is 00:05:43 because i did but then it turns out what i said was that ryan crashed his new car which is not like something that couldn't happen it could ryan drives i mean it's very possible it could happen It's not crazy. It's happened. The crazy thing is me having a new car. That's the crazy thing. Not the wreck part. So anyway, if you get a chance, check that out.
Starting point is 00:06:07 They did a really good job. It was. It was a good article, I thought. I also, you know, so people know when I'm looking for websites, so when I sit down to do my 10 or 12 topics, they write about this in the article. The first thing I do, this is, would you like to know my process of how I try to figure out what to talk about?
Starting point is 00:06:24 out. I start with what have I talked about on any social media or something that's like mattered to me that day. That usually gets about half the topics. Then the next thing I do is go to KSR, the website, to see if there's something UK related that I've missed. Then third, I go to either the courier or the Herald to see is there Kentucky news that I've missed, the state of Kentucky. And then if I still haven't filled it up, I go to Barstool for Sports Stuff. Huffington Post has good, like, random stories from around the country. And then if I still have not filled it, filled it up, I go to Twitter and look at the trending topics.
Starting point is 00:07:11 And usually if I do all that, I can get 12 things. Here's when I know it's a bad side. When I go to the national sites and they're all talking about a Kentucky story. because almost inevitably that means we did something stupid, right? And that happened last night. Oh, it did. I don't know what this woman was thinking, but one of our legislators from Shelbyville, and listen, this person may be awesome, she might even be listening to show.
Starting point is 00:07:42 So I'm not, I don't know you, so this, I'm not trying to despot this was an objectively dumb thing to say. Jennifer Decker. She was speaking to the NAACP in Shelbyville. And apparently she was talking about they're trying to do a bill that's like anti-D-EI. I don't know. Nobody even knew what that was a year ago, but it's like a thing now. Whatever. I'm not talking about the bill.
Starting point is 00:08:06 But in the process of talking about the bill, she told the NWACP that her dad was a slave. Now, this is a white woman from Shelbyville. and so not surprisingly they did some research and her dad was actually a preacher which is not the same thing and she's getting blasted she has since come out and said maybe I exaggerated oh maybe you think I mean slavery was illegal in 1865 so but now we're in the national news for that so she says maybe I exaggerated and shouldn't have said that I think that's probably a fair thing to say. I, yes.
Starting point is 00:08:50 I think she exaggerated quite a bit, and it's embarrassing for all of us now. It's the lady from Kentucky. Yes, and all the headlines, Shannon, say, Kentucky legislator says, bur, bur, bur, bur, bar, bar, of course. Did she not realize people can look that up now? I mean. It feels like you should be able, like, it feels like they'll figure,
Starting point is 00:09:07 especially if your dad is a minister. Yeah, they may fact check you on that. They might fact check you a little bit. I mean, it hadn't been a month since we tried to slip incestest, into a bill. I mean, the national headlines for Kentucky politics right now. We did do the incest thing. Can we just
Starting point is 00:09:24 can we just potholes and maybe a few schools here and there and just a few normal things, stay out of the headlines? It should be very bland for a little while. I'll tell you this. If you ran on, I'm just going to fix all the potholes. I think you'd get a lot of support. Amen.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Right? Like, especially those people that are on the interstate. Yep. Let's just stay out of the news for a little bit. Yeah. So that wasn't necessarily the best thing to wake up to. And then the last thing, you know, we were talking about going to Skyline and the New Yorker. I read an article in the New York Times about the history, Ryan, of kissing. Have you ever thought about kissing?
Starting point is 00:10:05 I think about it all the time. Okay. I could have predicted that was what you were going to say. But if you think about it, kissing is kind of like, like, It's kind of an odd thing to do, to just decide that as a show of affection, you're going to smash each other's mouths next to each other. So they figured out when people started kissing. Okay, I'm anxious to hear this.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Because apparently, until 2000 BC, there was no kissing. Okay. Because they would have been like, why would I do that? And then they found these tablets. You remember when you were in school, you learned the learned CUNY form? No. I missed that day. Has anybody remember that word but me?
Starting point is 00:10:49 I was probably thinking about kissing. I was asleep. He's a fawn. Well, they, he's a fawn. He's a sleeping class. Them fauns, always sleeping. They found cuneiform that says this group of people, they were going to try something new.
Starting point is 00:11:06 And they're like, let's start this kissing thing. And they think that that is when human beings started doing it. And then as they spread around the world, it went around the world. world with these people in Mesopotamia in 2000 BC. And I don't know why I found that interesting, but I just found it interesting because they said for most of human history, we did not kiss, but then starting in 2000 BC, everybody just started kissing.
Starting point is 00:11:31 You know, it is very interesting because at its core, it is kind of a gross thing to do. It's very gross. Yeah. I mean, if you think about it. Do you think that's gross? Well, I'm just saying to you, like, okay, so just take. Take it in the like take what we put like take the mental stuff we put on it out If you just saw a stranger would you just want to go up and share saliva with them
Starting point is 00:11:57 Absolutely not But that has become how we show the highest form of affection Right it's like most people think feet are gross if you're not Rick's Ryan But there are studies that show feet are cleaner than your hands And we are much more likely to touch each other's hands we touch strong stranger's hands all the time. But the idea of touching somebody's feet grosses us out. But they've done studies.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Your feet right now are cleaner than your hands are. So I just think it's interesting how we just decide that this is gross and this isn't and then make decisions based on it even if it has nothing to do with signs. And it was a little weird kissing, but it is Valentine's Day. We don't want to discourage kissing on today of all days. Kiss everybody as long as they're okay with it. I'm just saying I thought that was interesting. They didn't do that.
Starting point is 00:12:49 They've all, well, I won't give the detail. We've always had to procreate, but kissing only started relatively recently. I want to know that conversation you have with your partner that day. I want to put my mouth on your mouth, and let's see what happened. For some reason, you made that sound really gross. It is kind of gross. We seem grosser, though, when you said it. Who's next, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:13:11 Linda. Linda, go ahead. 30 seconds. Linda. All right. No, Linda. Who's next? All right, Johnny Versace. Johnny Versace. Go ahead. Hey, man. I'm more on the Chester Spectrum than I am the normal fan.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And I'm very optimistic. I've decided to ignore kind of the clutter coming from Cal. And I love this team more than a lot of the teams recently. And I'm considering it a new season. So you're starting a new season today, okay? What do you think about that? Absolutely. Drew? I actually did this before the Ole Miss game.
Starting point is 00:13:53 I hit the reset button myself. I went back to Toronto me where I said, this team's going to be a lot of fun. I'm going to have no expectations of what their end goal is. So after this little funk, and we're all talking about sweet 16s and elite eights, where are they going to be, where they're going to be seated, I said, you know what, I'm going to go back to square one, and I'm going to try to enjoy them and not set up.
Starting point is 00:14:14 a bar. I know that sucks because we need this to be a national championship team, but moving forward, there are one and oh in my brain. So I think by winning last night, assuming we take care of business against Vandy and Arkansas at home, I think last night's win almost ensures we're in the tournament. I mean, I think it would be almost impossible for us to miss the tournament as long as we beat Vandy in Arkansas. So now there is a part of me that says it's really just March, right? Like, it's just March. And we're not going to be a top three seed. So the tournament's going to be a little bit like it's just going to depend on who they put us up against. And so, Ryan, in some ways, my hopes that we would get a top two seed and have an easy path to the sweet 16, that's gone
Starting point is 00:15:07 now. So now it's just let's play these games, hope we get better, and then when the bracket come, see what we can do. Seven games left, four of them on the road. What do you think the record is these last seven games? On the road? No, just a total.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Four of the seven are on the road. We're going to beat Vandy. We're going to beat Arkansas. We're going to beat Alabama at home. So now you've got the four road games. We're going to win two of the four road games. So five and two?
Starting point is 00:15:38 We're going to go five and two, and we're going to be 24 or 22 and nine going into the SEC tournament. That will put us as a five seed, in my opinion, and we will win the SEC tournament. That's my prediction. And the NCAA tournament, I think it's all about who we draw, and I think it'll be, who knows. But I think we win the SEC. For some reason, I have it in my head that that team is going to connect in the SEC tournament. We're all going to get our hopes up, and then we'll see what happens with the draw. Do you like that prediction?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Does winning the SEC tournament do anything for people? Like say you go on a run, beat – fortunately, it's going to be four now probably, but beat some really good teams to win that. Haven't won a while. You lift that trophy, get the confetti in Nashville, but then you fall short. But I mean, then you fall short at the tournament. Did that buy you anything? Depends on how short it is.
Starting point is 00:16:35 We lose in the first round. it probably means nothing. But if we get to the second weekend and then lose, I think winning the SEC tournament will have made a difference to people. But I think we're going to win the SEC tournament. I'm accused of being very negative. I am not negative about, I'm negative about what happens if this season ends as a disaster.
Starting point is 00:16:58 But I still think this team can be good. And I have thought that all year. They have too many good players to give up on. That's one thing Cal and I agree completely. They have too many guys for us to give up on them. And I think they win the SEC tournament. Five and two win the – I think we lose Saturday. I think we beat Tennessee at the end of the year.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Yeah. And then we lose to either Mississippi State or LSU in a game that drives us crazy. Well, I don't know if you heard this or not, but this team is built for March. Well, I hope he's right. Yep. I mean, the thing is, if you say that, though, Go back it up. You better go do it.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Cornbreadhimp.com, the vons don't need to take it. No, we don't. But the rest of us might need some help resting and relaxing. And so cornbreadhemp.com promo code KSR has over 20,000 five star reviews. That's an amazing amount of five star reviews. Name one of Louisville's five fastest growing companies in 2023. You can try it with a 30-day money-back guarantee. There's no reason not to try it.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Cornbreadhimp.com promo code KSR, 30% off your first order. with cornbread here. We'll take a break. Be right back. Kentucky Sports Radio. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew, call the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line at 859-28027 or 1-806. You can also text Matt on the A-Vision Glass text machine at 772-724.
Starting point is 00:18:25 I'd rather have the music, Shannon, but it's okay. You know what I mean? Yeah. You can make it work. I guess the weird part is when we specifically play a song for a reason. And then talk about it. And then talk about it, yeah. But, you know, I think people miss that they don't know what Shannon, like they like Shannon's, you know, choices.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Like right then. I think, Shannon, you started tweeting them out again. I think that's a good idea. I did. So that the podcast people can know what it is. Because sometimes we don't even, like I didn't even mention that was Aaron Tippins kiss this. I think I accidentally just included that in the podcast. So you may not even hear that part on the radio or on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:19:03 So, yeah. screwed that up. It's screwed that up. I'm still trying to get adjusted tonight. It is an adjustment. It is an adjustment. A lot of other shows, there are shows that are specifically music shows now that are having to have podcasts with no music.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Now that will really, I think, affect those as well. When Berson writes, Matt, I can't get too excited. I don't think this team can win in March without defense. I think it's going to be hard to win a title without defense, but you can win games. It's all going to be dependent about the matchups, right? I mean, I don't want to play Gonzaga again because I don't know how they're going to guard those big dudes. But if you put us against North Carolina again and they play the way they do, why can't we beat them? Being in the crowd in Atlanta is like everything in my optimism right now.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Because I saw that basketball team and know what they can do. And I know North Carolina's had some losses they shouldn't, but they're still one of the best in the country. And the way Kentucky played them back in December on a neutral court, That gives me hope for the tournament. And I know with current bracketology, we're looking at, oh, crap, we have this team. We also remember that team picks up the bracket and goes, what the heck, we have Kentucky? And they go in much tighter than they were going to be. You're Wichita State in 2014 that goes undefeated during the regular season and then sees Kentucky in the second round.
Starting point is 00:20:24 And you've got to be like, are you kidding me? That's another reason to have some optimism because as much as you don't want to play an opponent that's going to be a little more difficult than you wanted if you're a higher seed, that opponent is going to feel very wrong when they look up and see five NBA. players on the court. Pick the team you would not want to play. Like you're like the Wisconsin of 2015. I do not want to play that team. Well, about maybe a month or so ago we had this conversation and I said,
Starting point is 00:20:47 I don't want to play Kansas again. But now I don't feel that way about Kansas. Remember, though, their best player's been hurt for a couple of weeks. He'll be back. Yeah. Well, the guy who's played the best this year, McCullough or whatever. I guess if I had to pick one, I would probably pick, and I know we're about to play them, but I'd probably pick Auburn and Connecticut.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Those might be my two teams that I might not want to face in the tournament. Houston for me. Yeah. I think Houston, they're just so physical. I don't want to play team. I think the secret to beating us now is bullying us. And I think Houston is the one that I'd like to see the least. Houston and Yukon, and it's their coaches, too.
Starting point is 00:21:23 I just think they're well coached. They've been in the mix. Well, Yukon, obviously, in the mix last year. Houston's had some good runs. They've been there. Purdue is the other team of those three with the three best records, but I still say bring them on. I'm not scared of them, man.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Now, hopefully we would run and try to not let E.D.B. E.D. He might score 50 in that game. And they've lost many games when he's scored a lot of points. But those little dudes cannot guard our guards. No. I mean, those little white dudes are not guarding Dillingham, Shepard, Reeves, and Wadner. There's not.
Starting point is 00:21:54 And you run and have Eidie's tongue hanging out in that game. That's exactly right. You're exactly right. That's exactly what you do. And the thing is, Ety, if he foul out, they're awful. They're off. He's the whole team. His stats are crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:07 Yeah. Who's next? Let's give Linda a second try. Linda, 30 seconds. Go. Yes. I live in Morganfield, Kentucky, and that's Union County, and I wanted to wish our team, they're going to the state meet today.
Starting point is 00:22:23 Those are 21 straight regional champions. Wrestling out of eight wrestling. Rasseling. No. Some people. call it wrestling. It looks like it when they're doing it, but we'll call it wrestling. All right. Well, good luck to Union County. I can tell you. I just knew. I know Shannon. I knew he was excited to hit the buzzer. They've won 21 straight state championships, Union County, and going for
Starting point is 00:22:52 22 today in the state wrestling meet. Why is the state wrestling meet on Valentine's Day? That's true. They have become just this dominant force in Kentucky wrestling. They've got two dudes. Their brothers, one of them was a national, I think a world champion. They were both national champions. One of them was a world champion. So I have a question for you. I know nothing about cheerleading. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:13 I know that like, but here's what I've gleaned over the years. There's like 35 different cheerleading national championships. In the last two days, I've had people from three high schools, including my high school, write me to say their high school cheerleaders won the national championship. Green of County, I want to say maybe like Grayson County or something, and Middlesboro have all said in the same day or two that their teams won the national championship. I'm not discounting any of them. I'm going to, but like, were all the national championships at the same time? They were just down in Orlando.
Starting point is 00:23:56 But how did all of these schools from Kentucky? Like, how did we all win? My high school won, apparently. Yeah. But how did the Greenup County win? You know, they're different classes, just like in football, smaller class, medium, large, and there's divisions for, like, all girl cheerleaders, boy, mix, co-ed, you know, they're different divisions.
Starting point is 00:24:14 I'm up on the cheerleader stuff. So Middlesbril won a state, a national title. Apparently Greenup County won a national title, and someone else. I can't remember who it was. Kentucky squads win a lot of national titles at the high school level. But I didn't know that my high school was good at it. Well, there you go. They're having like a, the fire truck is bringing them into town with a siren.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Recruited well out of Harrogate this past off season for cheerleaders. Can you stop acting like we recruit out of Harrigot? Football players and cheerleaders coming through the mountain, through the tunnel. How do you know this? I can tell you later. 8-9-280-2287. We'll take a break. Be right back.
Starting point is 00:24:58 This is KSR. T.J. Smith, Personal injury, attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. You're not going to believe this, but I way underestimated the amount of national champions in the state. We'd like to know who else won a national championship. Bullitt East won a national championship. Bullittance and just said the same thing. Yep. Ballet. Barron County won a national championship.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Graves County won a national championship. Middlesbrough won the Game Day National Championship. Middlesbrough championship small school division. Yeah, I was told that I forgot. There's like sideline. There's like stunt. There's like game day. There's a bunch of different divisions for small, medium, large, co-ed, all those divisions. Everybody's a champion. So we have five different national champions from Kentucky along. Thank you, sir.
Starting point is 00:25:52 I think he wasn't listening. All right. So this is my Kentucky branded question of the day. Okay. Go to Kentuckybranded.com for UK gear. I see KSR gear. A couple of folks have shirts on. Thank you for that.
Starting point is 00:26:05 What, it's Valentine's Day. What do you all think is the best love song? Mm. Oh. Mm. All right. So everybody, what is your all-time best love song? Probably all my life by Casey and Jojo.
Starting point is 00:26:24 I mean, it's really, the piano, just the intro when they're doing the baby, baby, baby. It's perfect. It is. That's very good. I feel like most of the love songs I like, though, are about loves you don't have, which is probably fitting. I want to pick the one that Vince Merrill and Renee used when they got married at last. I think it's Edith James at last. Okay. I like that.
Starting point is 00:26:51 They played that at Obama's inauguration. Did they? Yeah, that was the thing they danced to. Uh-huh. Yeah. I'm going to say a song that's off the beaten path, but I like a lot. Uh, well, two, into the mystic. Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Van Morrison. Uh-huh. And catch the wind by Donovan. How's that one go? Well, we'll get Shannon to play. You can sing it. I'm not going to sing it. I'm not going to sing it.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Shannon, what's yours? Is it like a pearl jam song or stone tipple pilots? Well, I was going to go nine inch nels closer, but I don't know. I don't think that's really a love song. I don't know. It kind of is. Yeah, well, that's something. How about I will always love you?
Starting point is 00:27:29 Whitney Houston. Yeah. Or Dolly. Either one. Okay. I think those are good. Yeah. I think for those are very, those are a good selection.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Darius trucker wagon wheels, probably my second. I'll add the entire Boys to Man catalog. That's a good. I'll make love to you. End of the road, although that's a breakup song. Bend a knee. It's a good one. Oh, bend a knee.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He's a good one. All right. Who's up next, Shannon? It's going to run. Ron, 30 seconds. Go. Hey, first time caller, guys. How you all doing?
Starting point is 00:27:58 What's up? Doing great. I just want to say I've never listened to your show for the first time to call in, but I have 80 KSR. And you're winning. You're about as a repulsive as you are. You're bad for Kentucky. You're terrible. But hang on. Let me ask you a question, sir. Hang on. Let me ask you a question, sir. How, if you've never listened to the show, how do you know any of this? I know, because everybody tells me. And I read about it.
Starting point is 00:28:28 Oh, so everybody tells you that we're terrible and you've never once listened. So that's a really good way to make this issue. The hate you put out, I mean. But you don't listen. How do you know? If I blocked you on Twitter, I can tell you this, sir, you deserved it. Because I only block the people that are the nastiest people on the, on there. If you're nasty to me, I will block you.
Starting point is 00:28:53 So thank you very much. I appreciate the call. Continue not listening. it helps us all as society. And if possible, quit interacting with humans. Wow. I don't listen, but I'm going to call in. I'm glad he, you know what, Shannon?
Starting point is 00:29:07 What? That is a lot of the hate this show receives in a nutshell. The man literally said, you all are repulsive as a show, and he acknowledged he never once listened to the show. Well, he had to listen for at least 45 minutes because that's how long he was on hold. You're on.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I want you to, sir, I want you to, right now, your drive and pull over because I you know we need to buckle up in safe in Kentucky and I want you to look in your rear view mirror you called and stayed on hold for 45 minutes to talk to a show that you say you don't listen to to tell a stranger that you have not met how terrible they are I say this with love to you I'm going to pray for you tonight because you clearly must have the saddest life of all time if that is your call on Valentine's Day. If that's what you decided to do this morning, then honestly, I don't even mean this as a joke. I feel bad for you because that is a pretty sad way to live your existence.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Yeah, where's the love on Valentine's Day? But I'm serious. That's one of the best pieces of advice. A minister gave me this piece of advice. Anybody that is hateful to strangers. Now, sometimes people can be hateful to people they know. I try not to be that, but sometimes people are. But anybody that is hateful, to strangers. You ought to pray for them because clearly their life is not happy. Have you ever seen anyone angry at strangers that was happy in their day-to-day existence? Won't happen. Have you ever seen anyone online yelling about groups of people that in their private life was happy? The answer is no. Never happen. So I do feel sorry for people like that. I'm not even, I'm not even kidding.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Just can't believe you talked about the wings like that. The wings is going to. The wings. This did nothing to you. They're good. They're really good. Even if you hate us. He was really on hold for 45 minutes. Yeah. That's what Shannon said.
Starting point is 00:31:03 My math's right. We only get 32, 45 minutes a day. And he wasted one on that. That's pretty good. That's a brilliant math. Thank you. But we only get so much time. That's really good math.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Did you do that on the spot? No, he did. No, but I'm sitting here. We only get so much time. You should make the most of it. And he wasted one of his 32, 45 minute periods on hold. listening to a show he said he didn't listen to. That is an amazing amount of math.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I haven't been to bed. I'm actually impressed. Can someone double check that? I'm just going to assume you're right. Who's next? This is going to be a positive call. This is Jordan. He's the guy that proposed at Rupparina last night.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Oh, very nice. Jordan, congratulations on the proposal. Ryan extends so he can definitely extend. Go ahead. Thank you guys. I just wanted to say that was a great outfit. I'm not from Corbyn. And everybody gave me compliments on the camo pants.
Starting point is 00:31:55 So I think it complimented it. So tell me how you, I didn't think you were allowed to propose in reparations. Actually, I want to give a huge shout-out to Gregory Herbert with UK's marketing team. I emailed, actually emailed their athletic department, one of their athletic directors. He said, I can't help you out. He shot me up to the marketing department, and they were great. I mean, they handled everything within 30 minutes. Now everybody's going to be proposing.
Starting point is 00:32:20 Let me ask you a question. Everybody is the secret to a depose. Were you nervous about it? Like, did you think there was a chance she would say, know? No, I don't think so. I didn't have that in my mind. But I was nervous because obviously when you walk in the UK, you have to take everything out of your pockets. So I gave the key to somebody or the key, the ring to somebody else. And I didn't have the ring on me when they actually put the camera on me. So if you seen the video, I'm screaming down at somebody.
Starting point is 00:32:44 I was actually screaming down. Oh, wait. So when they, I like this. So when you walked in, you didn't want your wife to see you take off, put the ring in like as you were going through security. Yeah. So you gave it to somebody else and then you forgot to go and get it back from them? Yeah, it was actually her sister. She brought, or she got seats like two rows in front of us or a row in front of us. Okay. Just so they could be close. And I gave her the ring the beginning of the day, and I meant to get it because they told me, you know, I thought it would be later on in the game that they would do that. It was five minutes into the game, I think, and I did not have the ring on me in time. So if you see me panicking in the beginning of one of the videos,
Starting point is 00:33:22 that's why. Wow. Okay. So that's, first of all, congrats. Yep. So you did choose, I mean, does it upset you that Ryan made fun of your camo pants? I thought it was a good look. I was actually coming into work and somebody called me and said, they're talking about you on KSR radio, and I turned it on real quick, and you immediately started talking about my pants, and I just started laughing so hard. I was like, I had to call in there. It was Shannon.
Starting point is 00:33:50 It was Shannon. Of course it was Shannon. Well, listen, congratulations. When is the wedding? We have not planned that yet, and I just got through this course. So let me, we're, we'll get the best. And you live in Cynthia, right? Yeah, I live from Cincinnati, hometown.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I lived there a long time ago. So, well, congrats. That's what I thought. That's what I thought. We listened to KSR every morning at the post office here. So I just want to call in. Thank you to the Cynthia and a post office. Appreciate the call.
Starting point is 00:34:17 There you go. Isn't that nice? Thank you, guys. Appreciate it. Love is in the air. When Kentucky wins basketball games, it just everybody's getting in. The call before that certainly shows. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Yes. Everybody's in the loving mood. What's funny is here at the bar where it's Wings Day, they didn't get to hear the call. So I really would love your own faces because you just seen me yell at a person and you have no idea what they're saying to me. And you've got to be like, Matt, you might want to just bring it. Is it Ash Wednesday, too?
Starting point is 00:34:46 Huh. Oh. Is that today? Huh. Well, there you go. I didn't realize that. A lot of stuff happening today, right? We need to say today is also Jared Lorenzen's birthday.
Starting point is 00:34:55 He was a Valentine's Day baby. Yeah, he would have been 43 years old today, and we always remember that on Valentine's Day. God bless, Jared, one of the kindest people. Yep. Very few people have played at this school that brought fans and people more joy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:12 And I watched Jared over the years treat every person who came up to him so well. It was really a great role model thing to watch and happy, you know, glad you mentioned that. And we got to keep it out on his son, Taden. He'll be a sophomore at Fort Thomas Highlands next year. He's going to be a superstar. All right.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Tell me about Stockton Morgan. Oh, man, I got to read the certain stuff, or they're going to get mad at me. I told you during the break. I was not available. Not available. You're not available. You're on vacation? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:35:46 You weren't available. If you're thinking of buying, you need to get pre-approved. So when the Wright House comes along, you're ready to make. can offer. Starting point is 00:36:18 1960 to 1980 or whatever Cadillac, Black one? Somebody came to came through for the movie already. Now their Cadillac will be in a movie. That's pretty cool. Yes. So thank you to. Somebody heard your plea. I think his name was Eugene.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Thank you to you. What and our Eugene? Okay. Different Eugene. Thank you to Eugene. We will take a break and be right back. This is KSR. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew, call the Clark's Pump and Shop phone line at 859-280-287 or 1-800-606-4-2-63.
Starting point is 00:36:49 And send us the Kentucky brandit tweet of the day by tweeting Matt at KY Sport Radio. Welcome back. Final same week, Tuggy Sports Radio. Here, Valentine's Day. You can do Valentine's Day trivia, KS Bar, Dollar Wings on Valentine's Day. We have a couple of sets of twins we always like to see. It's their birthday or their birthday Saturday, right? Sunday. Sunday. But meeting here as well, you know, Valentine's Day brings everybody together. The love is out. One person writes and says, Matt, I'm pretty sure that this was, that the person who called you is the former sheriff of Barron County. He bashes you on his Facebook page and that sounded like him.
Starting point is 00:37:32 He says his name. I won't say his name. But I'll just tell you, you know, I know the law in Barron County. I mean, the guy did say his name when he came on the air. What did he say it was? I can't remember what it was, but I mean, we can match it up. It feels like something we could figure out. Well, they sent me his Facebook page.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Yeah. Whoever the former sheriff of Barron County does it. But you know what? It's okay. Sheriffs, you should be nice, too. If there's that much hate on the sheriff of Barron County, then the people of Barron County need to be glad he's not in office anymore. I'm hurt.
Starting point is 00:38:01 You know, Barron County might be my second favorite county. We got a lot of Barron County connections. I've spent probably next. I love dinosaurs. I've spent more time in Barron County at least once a year, spend a weekend. People are always very nice. Suzanne is there in Barron County. Suzanne, you don't let them talk like that.
Starting point is 00:38:19 We love Glasgow. to do shows there in Glasgow quite regularly. Our first ever remote was in Glasgow. KSR writer Aaron Fleener from Glasgow. Oh, that's right. Kemp Bull? Camp Bull from Glasgow. Probably next to Middlesboro and Hoptown.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I have more connections in Glasgow than anywhere else. Yeah. So, listen, former sheriff, that wasn't very nice. I liked it what he said. Well, you blocked me on Twitter. That tells me all I need to know right there. I used to have a high standard for blocking people. Now it's a lot quicker.
Starting point is 00:38:49 You get, like, nasty pretty much once I'm good. And then inevitably, a lot of people write and go, hey, man, I was just kidding. Can I follow you again? Yeah, with people here at the restaurant, they said, man, will you please go up to Matt and tell him I'm sorry and unblock me on Twitter? I've gotten that several times. I get that too. I get DMs. It's like, hey, man, will you tell Matt to unblock me?
Starting point is 00:39:10 It's like, I don't know. I don't even know why he blocked you. This has nothing to do with me. Yeah. I mean, if people, like, I've had people write me and then apologize and say, I said this. back then I shouldn't have. And then I'll, you know. But then, look, I've blocked a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Hugo over here. You think he'll break the record? I mean, the fact that he had 10 with 10 minutes to go. He had 10 minutes to go. We're in a race against time with the season. I lean no, but it would not surprise me whatsoever if he did because it was just, it seemed every trip down the court he was blocking a shot last night. We looked it up.
Starting point is 00:39:49 The Rupp Arena record by a U.K.K. player was Willie Colley-Stine, Sam Bowie, and Andre Redick had nine. So he owns that. So he owns the U.K. record at Rupp Arena. David Robinson had 10. Tied the Rupparina record with David Robinson with 10, yeah. How about the top two in UK history, both against Ole Miss? Yeah, both against Ole Miss. With Nerrins and Hugo.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Yeah. Listen, he's – I don't know if it'll happen, but he would be a great guy to come back for one more year. Yes. Because I feel like he would have a chance to be really, really good next year. I mean, I'm done thinking anybody comes back. Like, if they come back, that's good. If they don't, they don't. But he would be an awesome dude to have.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Yeah, look at the improvement he made from year one to year two. Look how much his body matured from year one to year two. One more year of that. Yeah, he could put himself in the NBA. ESPN has Kentucky number 23 in its preseason college football rating. I like that. I mean, I was kind of not trying to get too. excited at this stage where it's this new coordinator we're all learning for the first time and last year they fell a little flat new quarterback but i mean there's already some national stuff out there like that one
Starting point is 00:40:57 tell me i should i was on with i was on with cole kublich and gregg mackleroy yesterday um greg mackleroy said he knew bush hamden thought he was really smart and the his quote was the perfect play caller for mark stoop's really And then he said that the running back, they both were like, that running back is going to be great. He was like he's the next in line for you guys, the Ohio State. They said in between of like Benny, Rodriguez and Ray Davis, he said he's the most like Rodriguez. He was like, think Rodriguez maybe a tad slower but with even more power. When you consider how hard it was to bring Rodriguez down, that's a pretty good thing. It's hard to imagine that kind of person.
Starting point is 00:41:48 I mean, Rodriguez didn't get tackled for a loss seemed ever. Always falling forward to people. Didn't he only like get tackled for a loss like once or twice in his whole career? Always falling forward and get at least another yard. That's very encouraging to hear because, you know, we trust those guys. Those guys know a little more football than we do. Are you surprised they haven't announced Hamden yet? True.
Starting point is 00:42:06 They have to run the course. I guess. It's been, though. I mean, that story is. been out since what, Saturday. It's now Wednesday, and we still haven't heard. Who's next? Chris. Chris, go ahead, Chris.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Hey, what's up, Matt? Unfortunately, my parlay didn't cash last night on the over-under. Thank you for the shout-out on Twitter. But I think going to this Auburn game, I think it's going to be Kentucky 84, Auburn 72. Auburn's also going to lose tonight to South Carolina. Yeah, Auburn, South Carolina is a big game tonight. If South Carolina beats Auburn tonight, they've got a shot.
Starting point is 00:42:41 shot to win the conference. I mean, they really do. Like, it's, this is a big one for them tonight, but they have a shot, Ryan. Yeah, because their schedule kind of plays in their favor. I think after tonight. They got the tough games at home. Yeah. I think it's tough road game. That what it is? It's one or the other. They have like easy and home and hard on the road or vice versa. But this is a big one. I mean, they'll, won't they have the lead if they win this one? Or I guess it's a tie with Alabama. I'm not sure. The other time with Alabama right now. I still think Alabama would win it. They have a little
Starting point is 00:43:10 bit easier path. Kentucky could spoil that. But I think it's going to come down to one of those, too. I didn't expect Auburn to lose like they did at Florida. I don't know what to make of them right now. The win last night was good for Kentucky for many reasons, but also it kind of gives them a floor on the SEC so they don't just collapse and end up like a six, seven, eight seat. It looks like the five seat is very likely where we end up. But it's almost, unless something crazy happens, we're probably playing on Thursday in the SEC tournament.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Yeah, I haven't seen the latest probability, but it was already a long shot to get the double by.
