Starting point is 00:02:08 Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome everyone in Kentucky Sports Radio Wednesday. February the 21st. I am Matt Jones here on a cold day in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm in studio in Louisville. So is Shannon. And Shannon, I don't know where everybody else is. But right now.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Just you and I. It's just me and you. So I'll explain that in a minute. The Clark's Pubbant Shop phone line. What we'll do is it's just me and Shannon. So you have to call during the break, Shannon, so that you can stay with me and you don't answer the phone, right? Yeah, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:02:42 So a call during the break, 859, 280, 2287. A Vision Auto Glass Text Machine is 772-7474 in this edition. Sponsored by the T.J. Smith Law Office, you call T. I'll make them pay. We are in Louisville. Big night tonight. Kentucky plays LSU, but first today at 1105, making her debut, 1103, making her debut on KSR, Shannon Hollywood, Haley J will be in the studio.
Starting point is 00:03:11 I'm looking forward to that. I'll have my finger on the dump button. Yes. As we know, she don't give a blank what Matt Jones has to say. She does not. So we'll see if she has a blink to see what you have to say today. I'm sitting here thinking about over the years of us doing this. Who from OVW has been on this show?
Starting point is 00:03:24 Yeah. Al, cash flow. Crixus has been on. Yeah. Who else? Have we had Shira on before? I don't think we've had Shira yet. Did we ever have Mr. Pectacular? Was he on?
Starting point is 00:03:40 I don't remember if we, I don't think we did. I don't think we did. We've had very few over the years. We've had very few. Because, you know, I try to be, but people all request Haley, especially since, especially since wrestlers. So I asked her to come in to promote the show Friday night at Manchester Music Hall and she's coming and who knows what'll happen, Shannon. This is one of those interviews that like, I don't know that you can totally control. You know what I mean? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:04:07 well, I'm glad I'm in a separate studio. So it's all up to you. I mean, if things break down over there. You can't just take their picture. You got to get. No, I mean, we got, I do have, I can turn their mics off if I have to, right? Yeah. But no, I mean, my, uh, relationship with her is a lot, Like it's a lot different than it was when they were filming that show. Like it's a lot better now than it was now that's, do you realize that's almost two years ago those cameras are here? Yeah. It was the summer.
Starting point is 00:04:34 It was two summers ago. So it was the summer of 2022 was when that happened. So it's been a long time. And I felt like what better time to get her. She, and I'm sure she'll talk about this. I mean, Shannon, like she's the person people ask me about everywhere. When they bring up the show.
Starting point is 00:04:53 they all asked me about her. They asked me, is she really like that? Blah, blah, blah. I mean, Al probably gets the second most questions, but I do think, Shannon, people ask me more about her than anyone else on the show. Got a fascinating story. Yes. And a lot of that you saw play out in the Netflix show.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Yes. So that should be exciting. And like I said, Shannon, dumb butt. Okay, we got it. All right, just in case. You know, she's a little salty sometimes in the language. So she will be here. Now, because of that, when I got that set up, Shannon, I said to Ryan, I was like,
Starting point is 00:05:30 hey, since we're going to be interviewing somebody, I like to have, you know, you hear, if we're going to interview somebody, can you, do you and Drew want to come to Louisville? And I was like, Drew doesn't have to, if he needs to, because it's a game day. I know he's, and Ryan said, that's a fine. And Drew said he would take this off. He'd do the pregame show and watch the game tonight. Okay. So then I get a phone call at 9.05.
Starting point is 00:05:52 And Shannon, when I look at my phone at 905 and I see Lemon, like, you know it's not going to be good. No, he's not calling to say, hey, let's catch up on some show. No, that's exactly. If there's one thing that we know, he is not calling to say, hey, spent some time thinking about topics. Yeah. Would you like, that is not happening. Right. So when I get this, I'm thinking he's wrecked his car, you know, Josiah has practice.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Like, there's got to be something. I was a little surprised when he said, listen, man, I overslept. Oh, no. Overslept. Dude, it's a 10 o'clock start. I know. It's not a 6 o'clock like 6 a.m. show. Now, I sleep to 9 most days.
Starting point is 00:06:39 But Shannon, I wake up way before that. You know what I mean? I just kind of lay in bed and wait for the. He was asleep, he said, until 906. Oh, my gosh. Now, remember, he used to say. say he got up at like 6 a.m. That's what I thought. That's what he used to say.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Yeah. Now I'm wondering, is the whole Ryan Lemon thing just a lot? Is he sleeping till 9.15 every day? If you're sleeping until 915, I mean, that means you're going to bed late. But he goes to bed early. Yeah. He goes to bed at like 11. So do you think he sleeps 10 hours a night? I would hope not. That's too much.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Like, I'm lucky if I get 10 hours in two days a lot of times. Is it? Is 10 hours? too much? Can your body sleep too much? I feel like it can. I mean, I don't know. I'm not a doctor. But I think 10 hours is a lot of time in bed. I agree. So I go to sleep like between 1230 and 1 and I usually wake up around 8, 8.15. And then just kind of relax until it's time to get up. But even then, I mean, I'm like 6 to 7 hours good night. I remember reading about George W. Bush. Do you remember him? He was the president. I do remember him. Yes. They said that like he could sleep like absurd amounts of time.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Yeah. He could sleep for like 12 hours at a time if he had to. And I actually kind of envy that skill. But Ryan has always acted like he gets up at 630 every morning. But now we know that's all a lie. He's he's ripped Van Ryan. He's sleeping for 24 hours at a time. Rip Van Ryan? Yeah. That's a good. So he is on his way. He texted me right before the show. started and said he had just passed the Shelbyville exit. Still got a ways to go. So he still got a ways to go. So he will get here. So it will be me and you until he gets here. And then hopefully he'll be awake. I mean, my man's got to be asleep since he only slept 13 hours last night. He better be on today. No excuses. No excuses. So we will we will have Ryan here. He'll be here hopefully around 1030, 1040. Now tonight is Kentucky at LSU going to Baton Rouge. Kentucky is a three or open is a three and a half point favorite. I don't know what it is. Six and a half now. See, I thought that was low.
Starting point is 00:08:58 So it's gotten all the way up to six and a half. Yeah. So that means all the early money is on Kentucky. That makes sense to me. When I saw three and a half, I felt like that was low. Kentucky's been good on the road this year. Five and two on the road. The losses to A&M in South Carolina,
Starting point is 00:09:15 but a couple good wins, obviously the Auburn game Saturday, but then Florida earlier in the year. you watch all across the country teams struggle on the road. This team's actually played pretty well. I think I saw that if all of our, if you only were to count road games, all right, and neutral games.
Starting point is 00:09:33 If you didn't count home games, Kentucky would be eighth in the country in the Kempaw. Whereas we're like 21st right now. So it's oddly been the home games that have heard us. The neutral and road games, we've been a top eight team in the country. So now tonight, an LSU team that has really struggled in the last few weeks.
Starting point is 00:09:53 But then Shannon beat South Carolina on the road, cost me a 14 team parlay Saturday. Came back from what 19 or 20 years. They were 18 or 19 down in the second half and came back in one. This is supposed to be their only sellout of the year. The only game that they've sold out all year, I don't think it's sold out yet, but they think it will by tip off. So the only time they'll fill that place all year is tonight. It's a late game. clock Eastern. That'll be eight down there. Are you worried at all that, you know, this is a game
Starting point is 00:10:26 that Kentucky, I think, needs to win really for seeding purposes. They now have a shot to get a double buy in the SEC tournament to get a top four seed in the NCAA tournament. If you look at the fact the end of their schedule includes Vandy and Arkansas at home, you feel pretty good about those. This is a game, Chan, and they need to win. Do you think they will? I do. And this is a game that I'm oddly not worried about, which makes me worry. Maybe I should be worried, but I'm not at all. I feel like Kentucky wins easily. This is a team that is built of transfers.
Starting point is 00:10:58 They've got, I think, five different transfers, including Jordan Wright from Vanderbilt, who Kentucky fans have seen a lot of. Wait a minute, George, he's, I didn't run, yeah, he's like their leading score. He's the same guy that had the game-winning shot. How is he still in college? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Maybe this is his 50 years. That dude played with like A.J. Ogilvie, didn't he? But he's the guy that hit the game-winning shot on senior night. Okay. No, last year it rump. And I also had a big game against him in the SEC tournament. And then Billy reminds me, is Damien Collins on this team too? You know what?
Starting point is 00:11:32 I think you're right. He did not. I did. I completely forgot about him. I think he's been injured. But I think he's on this team. You know what? I mean, I think you're right, but I had forgotten.
Starting point is 00:11:44 I completely forgotten about that. Looking at their stats, there it is. Played six games, average four points a game. That's Damien Collins. Yeah, completely forgotten that he had transferred there. But the last time he played was like in December. So he's like he's probably out, out for a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:02 But wow. He only had three games this year where he played more than one minute. You know, that's the name I just completely forgot about. That's a name. You know, when you sit and talk about dudes that played at Kentucky, that's an easy name to forget they even played here. You know what I mean? But he wanted to transfer it back to be closer to family.
Starting point is 00:12:20 I think that's right. I think he was from that area. Well, all right, so let's play this game. Who coaches LSU? Was it the guy that used to coach at a Kentucky school? Or am I just making that up? I don't know. I don't even know his name.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Actually, you're talking about maybe he used to coach at Murray? Yeah. What's his name? See, this is crazy because LSU at one time to me was the one of the more premier SEC rivalries in terms of in terms of, you know, who you cared about and who you got to play.
Starting point is 00:12:55 But here we have a former Kentucky player on the team. And then you have the coach, and I'm not. Matt McMahon. Okay, yeah, he was at Murray. He was at Murray. He was at Murray. That's right. So he's the coach.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Here's what worries me about this game for me. These are the kind of teams that have given Kentucky problems this year. These sort of, now they don't play the physicality that some of these other teams that beat us did. But this is the kind of game that even when you're good, you can go on the road and get upset. Yeah. This is the kind of game late at night on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. These are the kind of games over the years that you slip on.
Starting point is 00:13:36 And if you lost, it's not the worst thing in the world. But you just beat Auburn. And you just got yourself back in a place where you can play. and be a three or four seat in the NCAA tournament. And you don't have to be at the mercy of the committee to make sure you don't get a matchup in the second round that's difficult. But you do have to win tonight. And I think it'll be an interesting test.
Starting point is 00:13:59 It's easy for this team to get up for playing in the best environment in the SEC. But how do you get up for playing in Baton Rouge? Right. And if they truly are a five seat as they're projected right now in the tournament, you lose this game tonight. I don't think there's any scenario where you don't slide at least to a six. If you lose to a team, it's 13 and 12. Probably more important you make it to where you can't get a 4.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Right. I really want to see this team get a 3 or a 4 because I want them to avoid a second round game against a power team. Yep. And that's why it's important to me that they find a way to win one of these. Now, have you ever been to Baton Rouge? I have not. They say one of the wildest college towns in America. Like people will tell you an LSU football town.
Starting point is 00:14:45 tailgate is the height of tailgating in the world. You haven't been? I have not to LSU for football. I've been to Baton Rouge, but not. I've been to an LSU basketball game, but not when Kentucky played. I saw them, you remember, I think last year, play somebody terrible on their arena and lost, but I don't think I've ever been for a Kentucky game.
Starting point is 00:15:07 But I do know over the years, their crowd gets up. This microphone is the worst. Their crowd gets up for this game. Oh, I'm sure it'll be crazy tonight. And it should be crazy. 859-280-2287. Now Shannon can answer your phones. We should have Ryan here in just a little bit.
Starting point is 00:15:26 We're going to talk about some college basketball. Creighton destroys Yukon last night. This may be the most open season in college basketball a long time. Be right back. It's KSR. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. You ever sang this song at karaoke?
Starting point is 00:15:44 You know, our friend Aaron Fleanor is like the best at it. Yeah. He sings it at golf tournaments, the Colin Baton Rouge. Yeah, this is not my go-to. I do remember that year, though, I was trying to find Garth Brooks version. Yeah, and you couldn't? So we just, yeah, I guess it was just wiped off the Internet for some reason. Yeah, we just played all those random versions.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Yeah. That was funny. I'm always reminded of that, and then this is the one time of year where I always go back on YouTube and watch the greatest comeback in Kentucky basketball history. Yes, 31 points. That still to this day is the most fascinating thing I think. I've ever seen in college basketball. It really is.
Starting point is 00:16:18 With 15 minutes to go, they're down what you said. 31. How did they win? I still don't understand that. You can make an argument that two of the greatest performances in the history of this school were on the road at LSU. There's that one, which is the greatest comeback in the history of college basketball. And then the second one is we scored 81 points in the first half against them one year. In the first half, we scored 81 in that 96 team, I think.
Starting point is 00:16:45 81 in the first half shit. Yeah, like the NBA All-Star game. Yes, it was like the NBA All-Star game. I go back and watch that, though, that comeback. And I'm like, I still don't believe they're going to come back, even though I've watched it 100 times. That's crazy. Text machine, 772, 774 or 5254. What person writes, Matt, there's a Scottish term for waking up but staying in bed.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Did you guys know what it was? No. Shannon, do you know what the term is? No. Never heard this before. Hercle Durkle. That has to be made up. Herkle-Dircle.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Look it up. This person could be making it up. Sometimes I just read facts that may or may not be true. Look up on the internet. Here it is. To lounge in bed. Pass the point when it's time to get up. Hercl-Dircle.
Starting point is 00:17:31 That's right. I didn't know that most mornings I engage in Hercl-Dircle. When I get up, I'm up. So you lay there. Yeah. I like to lay there and kind of drift in and out of sleep and just kind of hurled-durkel. I've always been big on that.
Starting point is 00:17:48 I mean, you've always hurled, but then I hurled and dirkel. See, did you know that phrase? No, we've learned something. Never heard that. One person writes, of course, Ryan sleeps late. Remember, he's one of the Vaughns. That's right. That's right.
Starting point is 00:18:02 I forgot about that. It's a great point. We forgot that he's one of the bonds. Are you following this Rick Petino thing? It continues to keep going. With him throwing his players under the base? So he threw his play. players under the bus the other day.
Starting point is 00:18:15 He said like, my players stink. I hate them. They're slow. They can't guard anybody. I mean, pretty, like, it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but that's kind of what he said. Most unenjoyable experience of his coaching career. So then he did his radio show Monday night. And they were like, hey, man, you know, you want to walk any of that back a little bit?
Starting point is 00:18:36 And he was like, no. They stink. And then he goes like, I mean, I love them. But they stink. Well, then, like, shows that don't even talk about college basketball much are talking about it. It was the second biggest story on PTI, right? Rick Petino throws his players under the bus. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:55 So apparently some of his recruits are like, what's up with this dude? Right. You know? Yeah. So there was a story that the South, the St. John's coaching staff had to call all the recruits yesterday and go, hey, everything's all right. Don't worry. We're good. then yesterday there's a kid that transferred from aiona to West Virginia.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Remember, Rick was at Iona last year. They asked him about Petino. And he was like, yeah, Patino can be wild. I wasn't surprised he said that. And they were like, well, can you give us an example? And he said, well, I don't know if I should say this, but I'm going to say it anyway. And he said one time in practice, I didn't play defense. And he looked at me and said, I'm going to chop.
Starting point is 00:19:42 you up into seven pieces and send you back to Detroit or Houston or wherever you came from. Oh my God. Good Lord. Jeffrey Dahmer of dollars. I mean, go look. You think I'm making this up. Go look at the quote. I didn't.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I don't know how I missed that close. Now, the kid was laughing. Yeah. But he said, he said he was going to chop me up in seven pieces and send me back to Detroit or Houston or wherever I'm from. Good grief. Is Rick losing it right in front of everybody's eyes? Or again, as we said yesterday, just doesn't care anymore, just to the point to where he's going to do what he wants to do.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Can you ever imagine looking at somebody and going, I'm going to chop you up? Like, if I said to you that I was going to chop you up into multiple pieces, I think I'd get a call from HR. Maybe so. I think they would at least look into it. Yeah. The coaches can get away with saying stuff like that. Coaches can get away with saying things that no other people in humanity can do. Like no one else could you look and act the way coaches do and they would keep your job, right?
Starting point is 00:20:46 Yeah. Nowhere else. But for some reason, coaches, we allow to say like Jeffrey Dahmer things to their players. And it's okay. I mean, Rick has now made it to where every post game interview that he does or press conference after a loss is going to be must watch TV. Yeah. Don't you want to see what he's going to say next? I mean, I do.
Starting point is 00:21:07 But I, but good grief. All right, who's up first? Looks like Joe's on here. Joe, go ahead, Joe. Thank you. Gentlemen, two things quickly, Matt. First on Coach McDermott of Connecticut, is he's the now number one candidate to replace Kenny Payne at Louisville.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Coach Hurley, and why would he leave Connecticut for Louisville? He just won the national child at Connecticut. Why would he go to Louisville? Oh, I don't know. There's no reason. Yeah. I mean, people act like Connecticut's not a great job. Connecticut, think about how many titles they've won.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Connecticut is now won four titles in like, what, 17, 18 years, with three different coaches. That is a destination job. That job is probably better than Louisville now. So no, I do not think he would. I'm not sure Danny Hurley would leave to go anywhere, but I certainly don't think he would leave to go to Louis. And my last comment would be on tonight, they got a pretty good big man named Baker. I would like for Coach Cal to maybe put the arrow on him and so leave our big guy
Starting point is 00:22:10 Uganda under the basket to block shots what do you think about that comment? I don't know. I haven't seen him enough. I appreciate the call. I haven't watched LSU enough to know the answer to that. But to go back to Hurley a second, Shannon, did you see he threatened to beat up a student last night? No. He did.
Starting point is 00:22:28 As he was walking off the court, some student yelled at him and he said something like, I will whip your ass. Wow. Feistiness from the coaches. So coaches in the big east are going crazy. Speaking of going crazy. Look who showed up. That was Ryan here?
Starting point is 00:22:45 Oh, hey. Good morning, sunshine. What do you have to say for yourself, Rip Van Lennon? I just did not reset my alarm. Why do you sleep so late? Well, I wake up every day at 7. I get Josiah up, let the dogs out, feed the dogs. But then he leaves it like 745.
Starting point is 00:23:04 So what am I going to do for the next hour? I've been going back to sleep. Well, wait a minute. Now, you used to tell me every morning you would get up and listen to the pre-show while you took your shower. I do. Now he sleeps. Now he sleeps through it.
Starting point is 00:23:15 He's choosing sleep over listening to the pre-show. I set my alarm at 7 and 9. Why don't you do something productive? Like, you're already up. I don't understand how you can be up for an hour and then fall right back asleep, Shannon. Isn't that crazy? That is. Yeah, you hurkle-d-d-durkel.
Starting point is 00:23:29 I'll tell you, we've talked about it's the vawn blood in me. I can sleep any time. Back to the Vons. Back to Jack Vaugh, the OVW champion. Like, come on. How do you do that? I'm serious.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Like, once you've gotten your blood flowing like that, how do you just lay down and go back to bed? I usually just, you know, I'm laying on the couch with my bed, waiting for him to finally leave the house, just playing on my phone. I just kind of relax again. So how, did you, be honest. Did you forget you had this here?
Starting point is 00:23:56 Because you said you didn't reset your alarm, but if you were up at 745, you were going to have to leave it like 8-10. Was he trying to sleep, Shannon for 20 minutes? It sounds like it. Like what were you trying to do? Yeah, I didn't reset my alarm before I went to bed.
Starting point is 00:24:09 And then I woke up this morning and obviously didn't think about it until I woke up at nine, getting ready to listen to the pre-show. So you didn't have any thought that you had to come to Louisville? Not until 9 o'clock. I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm supposed to be leaving right now. Not Matt, we're just disappointed. Right after our meeting we had on Friday, right, Shannon. That's right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:28 I joined Facebook. What more you want me to do? Yes, on Facebook. Show up to the show. We'll be right back. T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Here's Matt Jones. I would sing this, but I have to remember there'll be no background music on the podcast. That's right. But I do like this song. I like it because I think they're voices. You know, they do, they harmonize, but like one of them goes high, one of them goes low. And then it's like, this is a really, really good song. It's the Everly Brothers, right?
Starting point is 00:25:04 Yeah, from Kentucky. Yeah, they're from Central City. 859-280-2287. Yukon lost last night to Creighton by 19. Yukon, how about this? Has it won against a ranked team on the road, Ryan, in over a decade? No. 21 straight losses for Yukon against a ranked team on the road.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Yet, I said four titles. They have five titles in the last 24 years. They have won one out of five of the last 25 championships. And yet have not beaten a ranked team on the road since, 2014. You know, like I told you, like kids Josiah's age, they all think Yukon is UCLA, you know, that just wins all the time. They see Yukon as a big rider. I mean, they've been the best team over the last 25 years. If you just talk titles. Yeah. But what's interesting is they've won five titles, but only made five final four, Shannon. Every single time they make the final four, they win the title. They win the title. Yeah. They cash in on their opportunities, right? So like, since then. So like, Since 99, Kentucky's made the final four, 11, 12, 14, 15. So we've only made it four times, but we've won at once.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Duke's probably made it seven times and won it like two or three times. Michigan State, I think,'s made it five or six times and won at once, but they've made it five times and one every time. That's crazy. And then sometimes they don't even get in the... And then sometimes they don't even make the tournament. Yeah. I want to read you a story about an LSU road game.
Starting point is 00:26:35 When Derek Ramsey and Art Still were playing football, the band went to LSU when we beat them. Okay. We won. The crowd then threw bottles and ice at the band, jumped over the fence, and started beating up some band members. Oh my goodness. Two band members were injured. The police had to escort us out of town. I've never heard this.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Can you imagine fan, Shannon, just attacking the band? No. Like, of all the people you would attack, why the band? I guess they're the easy targets, right? Yeah, you don't take the players. It's a lot easier to take out the saxophonist. Do you know this story? No, I've never heard this story.
Starting point is 00:27:14 There's a newspaper story here. The UK band, this is in the herald leader. Band members suffer injuries at LSU. At least two members of the band were injured after halftime performance. Objects were thrown. One person had a cut over their left eye and another person was punched in the face. Who knew being? and the band could be such a, this is what, 79.
Starting point is 00:27:39 What makes you wonder what, what were they doing to provoke the crowd so much? Why do you got to blame the band? It must have been really off key. I mean, you're going to punch somebody in a phase over it. Listen, why is he blaming our band, Chan? I don't know. That's, I've never heard of it. Why not blame the LSU fans?
Starting point is 00:27:52 Why are you blaming our band? I don't want to blame our band. I just wondered, why did they get so mad over a band performance? Because they lost, and they're crazy. They're crazy. I have two movies. I want to see, Shannon, and I feel like you're going to agree. First of all, have you heard the story about the Beatles movies?
Starting point is 00:28:10 No. So a director is making four movies about the Beatles that will all come out within a few months of each other. Each movie is from the point of view of one of the Beatles. And the stories will all interconnect. That's cool. Isn't that kind of cool? That is cool. I mean, if they're good, you have a movie from each beetle, but it will tell
Starting point is 00:28:35 the stories of the Beatles, one beetle at a time to where they all come together. I'm going to guess Ringo's version. Nice. I'm going to guess the Ringo version is going to be the sad version because he's the one that I know. I would think John Lennon will be the sad version. He died. He was healed? Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Yes. But I mean, like, wasn't Ringo like the least popular video? Yeah, they got to. I think they have to make Ringo the best movie. Right. To get people to go. Yeah. So is that you do that one first?
Starting point is 00:29:02 Well, I don't know. I mean, the Beatles in, right? when he dies. So I would think Lennon would be last. Yeah. Wasn't George Harrison the guy who kind of started it? I always thought it was Paul McCartney and John Lennon were like childhood friends. Oh. I may be wrong about that. Well, maybe you start with Paul then. Yeah. I feel like Shannon, you got to end with John because he dies. Right, right. But isn't that a cool idea for a movie? Like, I don't think I would have an interest in seeing a Beatles movie. But if you tell
Starting point is 00:29:29 me there's four movies, each with each one of them, it actually makes me kind of of interest in it. And they come out, what, a month apart? I think the theory is they'll come out kind of back to back to back to back over a course of a period of time. I love the idea. Because if the first one's really good, absolutely everybody's going to be drawn to go back to the second one, the third one, the fourth one. Now, the second thing is I have no interest, as you know, Shannon in superhero movies. Right. Me and you both. I don't like the Iron Man. Man. The only one I've ever really enjoyed are the various Batman Dark Nights, right?
Starting point is 00:30:06 Yeah. But now I want to see Madam Webb. Would you like to know why? Why? They're saying it's one of the worst movies of all time. It got an 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has the lowest score of a super whole hero movie ever. You're kidding.
Starting point is 00:30:25 And it's like the reviews are, this is the worst thing ever put on film. And now, Shannon, I want to go. Now, it doesn't hurt that Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney are in it, two of my crushes. Oh, so that's why you want to watch it. But no, but I kind of want to see it because it's bad. Like, I can see them in other stuff. You want to see it. Why the people saying it's so bad.
Starting point is 00:30:47 Don't you want to see, when you hear a movie is so bad that people are saying it's the worst superhero movie of all time? Shannon, don't you want to see why it's so bad? I want to see how bad can it be? How bad could it be? Worse than glitter, Mariah Carey? I don't think that was a superhero movie. I don't think. I don't think Mariah Carey was a superhero.
Starting point is 00:31:05 But isn't there something that you like almost want to see how bad could it possibly be? Remember, Hallie Berry was in Catwoman. I wanted to see it because Hallie Berry was in Catwoman. Okay, stop with your horniness. I just wanted, all I want is, I'm talking about, 12 hours of sleep. I'm talking about how bad it is, not that Dakota Johnson, that was the 50 shades of gray. Correct.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Okay. And then Sydney Sweeney's from White Lotus. Which one? The, she plays the daughter. One of the, the daughter that's in the first one. Steve Zon's daughter. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. She's become like a star here in the last couple years.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Okay. But I, do you, would you want to see a movie just because it's terrible? That's it. You want to see why everybody says this is so bad? That could be brilliant marketing. Maybe it's not bad, but they said that to get people to go see it. Well, I think a movie that is the worst movie is a movie. Like, I saw Battlestar.
Starting point is 00:31:59 What was the one with John Travolta? where it was about like Scientology. Do you know what I'm talking about, Shannon? No. It was called like Battle Fields Force or something. It's not Battlestar Galactica. That's a TV show.
Starting point is 00:32:16 Yeah. Find out what the movie is, Shannon. It's widely considered to be the worst movie of all time. And I saw it. And it was, I couldn't even get halfway through it. Well, now you got to go to this one to see if it's bad. I want to see how bad it is. Who's next?
Starting point is 00:32:30 while you're looking up that movie. All right. Kramer. Kramer. How are you Kramer? Hey, Matt. I kind of have to agree with what Shannon said tonight. I'm not really nervous about the game, which kind of makes me nervous, I guess.
Starting point is 00:32:44 And kind of relating to the Kentucky LSU connection with, you know, Damien Collins and their coach, there used to be a guy back a few years ago, Anthony Hickie out of Hopkinsville. Oh, yeah. He would light us up when we played them. Light us up. And it was always fun to see him do that. but I got to give a shout out to Haley J. today.
Starting point is 00:33:03 I look forward to hearing her speak today. That's all I got. Yes, I do too. How do you think that's going to go, right? Appreciate the call. She's already lost, by the way. I think that Haley. She texts me and goes, how do you, she goes, where's the 4th Street?
Starting point is 00:33:16 Well, how do you explain that to somebody? Because you say it's on 4th Street. That doesn't help. Third and 5th Street. That's what I. Well, that's true. But she means the 4th Street like. Parking garage.
Starting point is 00:33:26 No, like this play. Four Street Live. Throw it in Google. It takes you right to it. Okay. It's not hard. It's not difficult. All right, I'll text that.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Type in guys. She said she's never been here. She said she's never been to this. I'm surprised she's never been down here. Well, but if you think about it, she's young. I mean, when she was, when this place was big, Shannon, she was like a kid. You know, like, Fourth Street Live hasn't been big in like a long time. But she's on the way.
Starting point is 00:33:50 She's on the way. Step one. Put the phone down. Step two. Do you have any questions you want to ask her? I do want to ask her a couple of things. I didn't know if I was going to be allowed. Well, that's why I got brought you here.
Starting point is 00:34:03 I didn't bring you here just to look at her. You get one. No, I mean, you can ask. You know her, so you can ask. Yeah. I've not talked to her since the net, since wrestlers came out. Yeah, the show has had, I think, a greater impact on her life than anyone. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:19 Like, Al has gotten a big bump from it, too. But Al was famous before, Shannon. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. Like the sort of snap your fingers and all of a sudden people know who you are, I think is affected probably her more than anyone on the show. She went from like 4,000 Instagram followers. Now she has like 50.
Starting point is 00:34:38 She was the star. She came out being the star. Yeah. Besides Shannon. It was Battlefield Earth. Never heard of it. Yeah. Sounds horrible. It had 3% on rotten tomatoes. And this one's got 11. This one's got 11. So this one may be four times better. There's one that's got 0%. What has zero? Max Steele It's a superhero
Starting point is 00:35:02 What's that about? I've heard of that They had the Max Steel action figures I know Gavin used to have them I guess they made a movie out of that Out of him A teenager discovers that his body Can generate the most powerful energy
Starting point is 00:35:14 In the universe Who was in that? Ben Winchell Mario Bellow I've never heard of these people Never heard of those people either They're real active Max Steele
Starting point is 00:35:23 I thought he was a wrestler Like when WWE was bad Hey don't Don't forget the Commonwealth Causes February bourbon raffle ends next week. Lots of amazing prizes, including the Double Eagle very rare, which is valued at $18,000. That's insane that there's a bottle of bourbon worth $18,000. And you can win it. And also, Commonwealth Causes has launched Club Blue, a VIP subscription service where all the money 100% goes to NIL.
Starting point is 00:35:53 They've partnered with JMI and UK to offer a lot of opportunities, and that includes being able to go to various games, VIP experiences. You can learn more at clubblue nil.com. So you can go to Commonwealthcauses.org for the various raffles, including they do ticket raffles for every game, or clubbluenil.com about the NIL opportunities from Commonwealth causes. We will take a break and be right back. What's the name of that? Max Steele. Max Steal. Max Steal. Max Steal. Max Duffie used to call himself that before he'd go out on Friday. That's why. Saturday nights ago, I'm Max. Superhero. We'll be right back. To talk to Matt
Starting point is 00:36:29 Jones and the crew, call the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line at 859-2802-287 or 1-800-606-4-2-63 and send us the Kentucky brandit tweet of the day by tweeting Matt at KY Sports Radio. Welcome back, Tegi Sports Radio. Text Machine 772-745254. One person writes, Madam Webb is so bad. It's not even a good bad movie. It's just a bad, bad movie. it's out now? Yeah, it had a terrible, like it's a bomb already. We got to go.
Starting point is 00:37:03 I kind of want to see it. If it's so bad that people don't want it, then I want it. What's the worst movie you think you've ever seen? Well, the thing is, I leave when they're terrible. I don't, I can't even get through them. Can get through it? I think, I don't know. I can watch movies that are so bad you laugh,
Starting point is 00:37:23 but movies that try to be serious and are, are bad. Like they try to be like dramatic and deep and they're bad. They're the ones that I think are the hardest to watch. I can't think of an example. Basically, I don't go to movies now unless they're well reviewed because what's the point? I don't want to be up there and hate it. Yeah. You know? I remember the boys drug me to some horror movie one time and it was, the acting was horrible. It was just awful. Awful. Can you think of one, Shannon, that you think is particularly terrible? So I actually track on IMDB. You can rate movies. Yeah. After you watch them and I've got all the movies I've watched.
Starting point is 00:37:59 According to my ratings, the worst I've ever seen is the Cloverfield Paradox. Is that like a horror movie? Yeah, but you know, like the first Cloverfield was really good. Yeah. But then like part three, they take it up into space and it was just, I don't know, it lost me. Yeah. Anything with that. One person writes, Matt, you can't make fun of Ryan for his Hallie Berry when you said
Starting point is 00:38:17 you wanted to see it because of Dakota Johnson and Sydney, Sweeney. It's different. There's something about the way Ryan gets the look in his eyes, Shannon, when he says Sally Barry. You've seen it. You know what I mean? Like it's just... Looking at Joe Biden. It's exactly right. The only other person he gives that look to is Joe Biden. The two of them, for something about the two of them that gives a look, it's just different. I can't describe it. It's like, it's just different.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Did you see Catwoman? See even like right now, Shannon, the look on his face. I can hear the smile. He's got a smirk and he's like, did you see Catwoman? It's just me and you in this room. So that's why I need you to bring up. I listened to a podcast I wanted to tell you about. Okay. So I've been like, you know, Bill Simmons, who I always listen to is starting to wear, like, it's kind of making me sad.
Starting point is 00:39:10 It's starting to go away for me. You've been saying that off and all. I don't want to blast him because he's giving me a lot of entertainment over the years, but it's just different now. So I'm listening, I still listen to him but less. So I've been listening to other stuff. And I listen to a podcast by a guy, Michael Lewis, and it's got. four seasons, but the first season is about like referees, not just sports referees, but
Starting point is 00:39:30 people whose job it is, well, this is Haley. I'll tell you what, you take a call. Let me see if I can get Haley in here, okay? Take a call. All right. Let's go to Sue. Hey, Sue. Hello. Hey, this is Sue. I'm calling on the road the way to Baton Rouge with my husband to do the cats play tonight. All right. Well, you're going to be down there, and I'm sure there's going to be a lot of, well, maybe not a lot of Kentucky fans, I'm sure a lot of LSU fans. So you've got to represent the Big Blue Nation down there. Well, Blue's going to get in. We'll cheer them on.
Starting point is 00:40:04 What else you got? I was just wondering. I'm looking forward to the Haley interview, but what's the over and under on how many times you're going to have to dump her? Two and a half. I think that's on the Draft King Sportsbook app right now. You can go on their promo code KSR. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:20 We'll tell her to mind her manners and try not to cuss. and she should be in here probably in just a few minutes if she can find her way in here. Okay. I forgot to mention, first time caller, a long time listener. We don't do. Yeah, he'll have to give you the who-aw. That's Matt's thing. So what's going on?
Starting point is 00:40:37 I can hear him mumbling in the background. Yeah, she's close. She's in the general area, but having trouble navigating the 4th Street area. So Matt's trying to help her get to the escalator so she can get up here to the studio, and then I can go let her in once she gets up here. Okay. So we're close. She's close.
Starting point is 00:40:53 it's not that hard to find. Yeah, well, she's not finding it easily. She said, do I walk in this building? And I didn't know what to answer. There's a lot of buildings. What building are you in? All right, so let me go back to the referee thing. I didn't hear the call.
Starting point is 00:41:06 So anyway, they did a study about five years ago, about the NBA. And they looked at referees. And here's what they found out. Throughout all the NBA, referees, contrary to what people think, did not cheat for a particular team. but they found two patterns that were consistent over nearly every single referee in the entire association. Number one, their calls slightly favored the home team. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:40 To the point that it was about a two to three point a game advantage. Wow. For the home team in the NBA. Yeah. Just from that. I'm not shocked by that. I'm not shocked by that either. The idea was the crowd plays an impact.
Starting point is 00:41:54 But do you know what was even a more of an advantage than a home team? A star player? The player that was behind. The team that was behind. They gave a four to five point advantage to the team that was behind. Wow. The team that was behind always got better calls. No kidding.
Starting point is 00:42:14 So when the NBA saw the study, they decided we're instituting like, we're reviewing everything you do. And now they redid the study last year. And it's gone from four or five points difference for the team behind to one. And the home court advantage has basically gone on. Wow. Really? And so the theory behind it was once the refs knew that that was being monitored, it went away. Yeah. And so my argument, Ryan, would be, we need to do that in college basketball. Why don't they? If they, if it worked in the NBA and they took it. And they took it. And they took, just obvious advantages that were seen in a study, and by saying we're watching you,
Starting point is 00:42:58 and it went away, shouldn't we do that in college basketball too? Because I definitely think there's a huge home court advantage to officiating. And he's there behind, let's give him the call. I think so too. I think it's a belief we've all had, now there's a study to prove it. But there are referees we see a lot that like to grandstand,
Starting point is 00:43:18 you know, in a tight game. And they like to, you know, move their hips around, Shannon and gyrate whenever they're on a home court. They like to make it about them. The NBA had that exact thing, and the NBA had that exact thing, and then they found a way to get rid of it. So that's it. All right, she's here.
Starting point is 00:43:39 Haley is here. I'll tell you what, Shannon. We're going to get her set up over here. We will take a break. 859-280-2287. She found her way in. Are you ready for this, Shannon? I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Let's do it. I'll tell you what, let's take an early break. Well, it's not early. It's time to break anyway. We will take a break when we come back. Hollywood, Haley Jay. Here we go. KSR.
