Welcome to Hour 2 of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Now, here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-2802287. A lot of people writing, asking us, Shannon, to do the play-by-play guys. We did the color guys. Okay. All right. So I'll do mine.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Tom Hart, number one. Absolutely. Yeah. Iron Eagle number two. Like those? And to me, that's by far one and two, because I think they're both really good and then they're friends of the show. I'm going to go number three, Dan Schumann, the guy that does the games of Billis. I like him a lot.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Number four, I'm going to say Gus Johnson. We don't get a lot of his games because they're on, you know, they're on Fox. but obviously he's exciting. And then I'll go fifth, Kevin Harlan, because you can see the excitement in his voice. He does tournament games a lot. No love for Carl Ravage? That's what I was going to add.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I gave my top five. I love Carl. Carl's fine to me. He's fine. I don't dislike him, but I'm not going to put him in my top five. I'm also going to say, for the color announcers, Sean Farnham, I'm replacing Jay Williams with at fifth.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I really like him. We don't get him much anymore. Yeah. But I do like him. Anybody you would add to that group I have? Well, of course, you, Dave Fleming, we got to have him in the list. I don't see him anymore. He does games like out.
Starting point is 00:04:08 He does like on the West Coast and Big 12, so we never see him. Sean McDonough, my absolute favorite. Does he do college basketball? He does some, I think. I don't remember seeing him. You might be right. He does some. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Okay. So that's our list. All right, one person writes, Matt, how are you going to get this far in the show? And not talk about how you killed a guy's father off to him on the show. show last night. Yeah, you did. Wait, what? I didn't hear this. I heard that. I mean, listen, everybody makes mistakes. What did you do? Okay, so Shannon, I'm just going to explain it to you. Okay, a guy calls in, nice kid, very excited about the game, says that he wants to come meet us at KS Bar. His name is, I think, Anthony. And then at the end of the call,
Starting point is 00:04:52 he says, my dad used to play for Kentucky. He was like, you all will not remember who it is, but he said his name is Carlos Tumer. Okay. Now, I do remember Carlos Tumor, right? Because Carlos Tumer played in the Patino years. And I thought it was, he really was like, didn't you think, Drew, he was really like humble, like you're not going to remember my dad. Yes, he very much was just wanting someone to acknowledge that Carlos Tumor played in Kentucky. So, Shannon, I was trying to be, I was, I promise you I was trying to be nice.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I was trying to be like, hey. I know it's difficult for you. Shut up. In your defense, you were like, everybody will remember your dad. Yes, I wanted to, like, get him because he, I'm not, he wasn't even alive when his dad played, right? So I want to tell him like, your dad mattered, you know? Yeah. And I remembered that we had talked a lot about Carlos Tumer at one point.
Starting point is 00:05:47 And Shannon, I thought it was because he had passed away. Oh, no. Oh, no. So as I'm trying to encourage the guy that, yes, your dad was somebody gray. I said, he passed away, didn't he? And he was like, no. How awkward was that for you? I mean, I feel like I got through it.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I was like, oh, I'm sorry. That must have been someone else. The other Carlos Tumor. Well, so I saved. And then Dwayne, my friend Dwayne, making Volfan, reminded me of how I knew Carlos to, or, I mean, I knew him playing, but what I, he had a KSR connection, which is that when I started KSR, I discovered that he wrote poetry,
Starting point is 00:06:32 okay? And he would write poetry about the players that were on those UK teams. And I have a bunch of old posts about it back in the day. But I did feel bad, Ryan. I hope he understood that, like, I was, I wasn't, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I was listening. And you, You were sympathetic. You know, you didn't like, hey man, I heard your dad died. Sorry. You were like, now, wait a minute. Now, I may be wrong, but is your dad still with us? You know, you kind of tiptoed around it.
Starting point is 00:07:07 So I wasn't, I didn't think you handled it poorly at all. Okay. The only part where I got my secondhand anxiety that I brought up recently is when you're like, did he die? He was very matter of fact, like, no. What are you talking about, man? Yeah. Yeah. Well, he still said he wanted to come to the bar sometime.
Starting point is 00:07:30 And so, you know, yes. You ever see him. You're going to think he's a ghost. No, stop. I want to get Carlos. Is welcome anytime. Meals on me, Carlos. And if you come to them.
Starting point is 00:07:42 If I was him, though, I would tread lightly for a couple days. Remember when Ryan texted us that our friend Jerry died and we've seen Jerry 200 times? Yes, you texted us that someone we see a lot died and then they were at the next show. It's right. Yeah, got the message that Jerry has passed away. And he had not. And he was at, I think, that next Friday show, just sitting there in the row. So, Big Brian.
Starting point is 00:08:04 So 859, 859-2802287. By the way, Wings Day bars open, dollar wings all day and night. Take advantage. You can also get them with you. Like, this is a good Wednesday. There is trivia, I think, tonight. But like, you don't have to play. You can just go get the wings.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Now, I have a couple facts for you, Ryan. I know you're going to be excited about it. All right, I'm ready. The Kentucky legislature passed a bill yesterday. Apparently, we have for 75 years in this state gotten something wrong, and yesterday they corrected it, okay? I'm ready. What was it?
Starting point is 00:08:40 Until yesterday, Chalad Sidoni Agate was the state rock, and coal was the state mineral. Well, guess what? they had them flipped. Whoever passed that bill 50 years ago got them confused. Actually, Chaladone Agate is a mineral
Starting point is 00:09:05 and coal is a rock. So they flipped it. And now coal is our state rock, not our state mineral, and Chaladone Agate is the state mineral, not the state rock.
Starting point is 00:09:21 And it took us 75 years to figure that out? It took us 75 years. to figure out that we had named them wrong, and Ryan, we fixed it yesterday. Well, my initial reaction is I'm so glad our politicians in this state have all the time that they can just waste on spending what our state rock is. But to be fair, if it was incorrect, isn't it good for the children of the state that we fix it? Yeah. Do you think they knew the difference?
Starting point is 00:09:48 Well, now they do. Now we know the difference. did you know what our state mineral or state rock was Shannon? No. Now you know. Put any effort into finding out. And so, Drew, I like, A, that we had it wrong for 75 years. And now we have it right.
Starting point is 00:10:07 While they're in there editing our profile, can we change our state bird to get that cardinal out of here? Just go and clean up the sheet here? Yes. How did this come up? How did it go for 50 years? Did someone just be like, hey, wait a minute, guys. This is, this appears to be backwards. I didn't see how it came.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Coal is actually a rock. So coal is not a mineral, by the way. It's a rock. Okay, so now I know what coal is. Shannon, what is Chaladone Agate? It's a mineral. I understand, but what is it? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Have you ever heard that? Have you ever heard that word before? No, I don't even think you're saying it right. Well, then how do you know, if you haven't heard it, how do you know I'm saying it wrong? Because you didn't say it very confidently. Remember what you always say. You got to say it confidently. So I should have said, cheledonia-gates.
Starting point is 00:10:52 Oh, yeah, that's how you say it. I don't know. Ryan, do you know what it is? It looks like it's a rock. It's got like some sparkly. It's not a rock. It's a mineral. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:11:01 A mineral. Sorry. It's a mineral that looks exactly like a rock that's got sparkly colors in it. Do you think that's like in the science definition of it? It's like a rock with sparkly colors. Uh-huh. Yeah. Drew, have you ever heard of this?
Starting point is 00:11:18 Uh, no. It sounds like something I would order and get. cheese on. It sounds delicious. I did ask the robots, though, chat GPT, and it says it's used in jewelry. Okay. Where in Kentucky is it? The robots didn't get that far into their research. Okay. Someone here knows, or the robots do. But just so you know, as you're teaching your children, don't say coal is a mineral, it's a rock. And if you know what Chaladone Agate is, it's now a It's agate, I'm told. Agate. Who told you that? Ian, he's in here with me. It's agate? Yes. Okay, here's where it says, has been discovered in Estell, Jackson, Powell, Madison, and Rockcastle counties.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Okay. And so if Ian's there and he knows it's agate, does Ian know what it is? He can jump on the mic. I have no clue what it is. I just remember the story from earlier this week on the news, and they pronounced it agate. Okay. Well, the news probably knows better than me. Maybe they're wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:12 No, no. I think the news has a good chance of knowing it better than I do. Thank you, Ian. I appreciate that. Roger, what do you got, Roger? Hey guys, how's it going today? Doing good. I'm going to throw you a name, Eastern Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Probably not as good as Reed, but it's another good Kentucky player, Larry Conley. Larry Conley's great. Yes, no, he's, well, when you say he's not as good as Reed, I mean, he was great. I mean, but he's before, I don't know, where do you think, Larry Conley, what do you think, Ryan, better than Reed, Todd? No. Larry Conley was a great player, and he probably would. be in maybe our starting five of Eastern Kentucky players, but Reed's doing things we've not seen anybody do.
Starting point is 00:12:55 All right. Say, what else you got? Okay, and as far as the timeout at the end of the game, I think that you leave that alone when the game's tied, but if you're down when, you've got to set something up. That's not, I don't necessarily disagree with that, actually. I appreciate the call. I think that's probably, I think that's probably fair.
Starting point is 00:13:12 8.59-28027, Dustin. Go ahead, Dustin. Hey guys I just want to say Reed Shepherd is he's great for this state I mean it's not just the not just the Kentucky team
Starting point is 00:13:25 he's great for this state I think he's doing things for people here that just I mean it just blows my mind what he's Like what do you mean The impact that he's having on this state Like what do you mean though
Starting point is 00:13:37 Everyone here knows who he is now Well that's true But that's probably true of all of our play I mean, everybody knew who Anthony Davis was and who John Wall was. Yeah, but it's a different sense of pride. That's true. I agree with that.
Starting point is 00:13:53 That makes sense. Also, you guys touched on something last night on the show, and you guys were comparing him to players in the NBA. And I pondered on it for a little while, and the only player that I could really come up with that was on that high would be John Stockton. I know it's a reach, but. He's not John Stockton.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I mean, he's not. That's not how he plays. I mean, that's just not how he plays. Like, what my point was, and I appreciate to call on the post game show, Ryan, I find it funny that we as a society and the announcers are as guilty of this as anybody, but they're not the only ones. We can only compare white players to white players. Yeah. It's just like we were talking about the other day. People only compare lefties to lefties.
Starting point is 00:14:37 They just, their brain cannot compute, compute comparing them to a right-handed guy. we do not compare white players to anyone but white players. They just can't. And I was trying to challenge people, give me someone to compare read to that's not white. And I thought actually, while Corey had the best answer, he said Kevin Johnson for the sons,
Starting point is 00:15:02 which I think if you just look at style of play, is pretty on. But like Jimmy Dykes last night compared him to both J.J. Reddick and Steve Nash. And those two guys don't play at all like each other. And it's like there's this barrier that keeps people from doing it. And I was trying to encourage people to like expand and think about it beyond just white dudes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Actually, I like Kevin Johnson. I like Billy's answer of Chris Paul. I like that one too. Chris Paul's bulkier. But if he were to get bulky, I think, Drew, that would be good. Do you have one that comes to mind? Maybe like Luca or Kevin Love, Larry Bird. I was listening to your show.
Starting point is 00:15:45 It is hard not to do that. Bill Walton. See a little Mark Price. The Kevin Johnson was good. With Chris Paul and some of the others, reads just so much more athletic and can get up and dunk where I don't. Chris Paul is pretty athletic. I just mean he isn't going up with two hands and throwing it down, though.
Starting point is 00:16:02 He's not. He's not, but Chris Paul's bigger. So that's why that wouldn't. But Kevin Johnson could do that. That's why I said Kevin Johnson might have been the one because he could get up there and dunk. Yeah. So, anyway, who knows? Scott Skiles.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Porzingis. That's right. Paul Westfall. Porzikas. All right. Tell me about Stockton mortgage. Stockton mortgage, busy time of year. You know, the spring, I got a couple things I want to say.
Starting point is 00:16:29 This is the spring buying season. It's a great time to buy. And Stockton Mortgage are great people to work with. It's a perfect storm if you're not looking for houses right now is the time to call Stockton Mortgage. You want to get pre-approved before you go out there. It's going to start getting competitive again. There's going to be multiple offers. You want to have a step, a leg up on everybody.
Starting point is 00:16:45 So get pre-approved early before you even start looking for your houses. It's easy to do. You can apply online. A Stockton Mortgage agent will reach out to you. You'll talk to the same agent every single time, which is something you don't get when you're going on those online services. So give Stockton Mortgage a call. You won't regret it.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Stockton Mortgage. Apply at Stockton.com. NMLS 859, Equal Housing Lender. NMLS, 8259, Equal Housing Lender. Oh, no. Are you seeing this video that's floating around right now of the U.K. Football-related? Football video.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Saw that earlier. No. What is it? Really bad fight in the locker room at the UK football facility. Oh. Why is anybody breaking it up? The speculation is the people involved aren't here anymore. I won't say names in case I'm wrong, but it looks to be kind of old.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Oh, does it? If it's who I think it is, they're definitely gone. Okay. And people fight in the locker room. Yeah. That's a bad one, though. It's not a good-looking video. Well, all right.
Starting point is 00:17:43 I don't know. I don't know. How did that video you think even get out? Well, all the players in the background are holding phones. How are you going to sit there and like, how are you going to sit there and hold a phone and watch two people just go at it? Your two teammates. Sometimes you just got to let them settle their own differences without getting involved, right? Good night.
Starting point is 00:18:04 That kind of breaks the code what happened in the locker. We're supposed to stay in the locker. Yeah, I mean, the fight to me is less. Yeah, to me, the fight is less than the team taking pictures. I don't like that. Yeah, I'm not going to tweet it out, but because people. I mean, you take pictures of people when they fight. Yeah, but not my teammates.
Starting point is 00:18:20 It'd be like you and. You took my picture when I fought the other night. Yeah, but it would be like you and Ryan getting in a fight on one of our road trips and me going, World Star, taking a picture. That might happen. We'll take a break. Be right back. To talk to Matt Jones and the crew call the Clark's Puppet Shop Bowline at 859-2-80.
Starting point is 00:18:38 or 1,800 600, 606, 4263. You can also text Matt on the A-Vision Glass text machine at 772-724. All right, so it's pronounced agate, like Ian said, like Bob Sagitt. Yes. Agit. And I think Calcedoni was right. And it is the, for people who, this is how a lot of people, if you don't know what it is, might know, the Tyler Childers album
Starting point is 00:19:06 Purgatory, that's Agate is the thing on the front of it. Looking right at that in my brain. I can see it now. That's Agate. Agate. So there you go. And it is our state mineral.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Coal is our state rock. Just in some hills of Eastern Kentucky in certain places. Both of those are in eastern Kentucky, which goes back to my point, even though people don't like it like Drew, that our culture in this state for right or wrong ends up being set by Eastern Kentucky. Both are, I mean, you know, that's just kind of how it is. And I know there's some people in Northern Kentucky and Western Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I know that annoys people, and I can kind of understand why I would. But Ryan, it's kind of true, though, isn't it? Do you know which side of the state produces the most coal? I'll give you hint. Nowadays it is Western Kentucky because it's cleaner. That's the issue. Bill of Burke County. John Pryon wrote good music.
Starting point is 00:19:57 I don't want to hear you say one word about Travis Perry next year because he's from our side of the state. Travis Perry. We had Reed. You get Travis Perry and we'll fight and see who does better. Listen, you can't walk through Madisonville without tripping over one of Frank Ramsey's championships. He's got eight of them. Can't even walk downtown without tripping over one of them. Well, Richie Farmer had the best mustache in the history of mankind. Do you want to, you want to dispute that? Don't make me call my Hoptown. We'll talk basketball. Where's Buck Stivers from? Where's Buck Stivers from? That's what I want. Do you have a town with a crater? No, you don't. Do you have a rock that you're keeping from falling down on a town?
Starting point is 00:20:38 There better not be a Corvette near East Kentucky. Yeah, Fruit of the Looms. Now it's in Honduras. How does our state rock not have a chain attached to it? That's all I want to know. Exactly. All right. I'm just kidding. I love Western Kentucky too. Just being, uh, at the rate, you're claiming London. You'll be claiming Paducah in the mountain soon. London counts. Barely. But it counts. Somerset, though, Ryan, doesn't count. I don't include Somerset either. And I don't include Danville.
Starting point is 00:21:07 I include 75-75. If you're east of I-75. I think when you get off on exit 41, you're in the mountains. On the other side, where on 64 becomes the mountains? It's not Winchester. Is it Mount Sterling? Or do you have to go all the way to Moorhead? I think you've got to go to Moorhead.
Starting point is 00:21:27 I don't really consider Mount Sterling the mountains. I don't either. I don't either. I think it's Moorhead. I think the mountain sort of starts in Moorhead, and then it goes all the way up through. I think Boyd County is the mountains, and then clearly Pike County and all that's the mountains.
Starting point is 00:21:42 If you think mountains are fun, I'm going to blow your mind with lakes. We got a lot of, you do have a lot of lakes. You do have a lot of lakes. Let's go to Cecil. What's up, Cecil? I'm doing good, Matt.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Two points with our resume. I checked the net today. and for some reason we're still at 19. Yeah. I thought we would have moved up. But here's what I want to say about it. Arizona, North Carolina, Duke, Kansas all have quad three losses. So the committee can't nitpick against us without nitpicking down.
Starting point is 00:22:19 But are those quad three losses at home? Actually, they probably are. At least Pitt is. Yes, yes. That's three. Who's Kansas quad three loss? That's at West Virginia, though. I think the only one that has a home quad three loss is Duke.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Okay, but I haven't heard where they, you know, care if it's home or away. They do. They do. The home gets you. Here, on the net, and I'll let you make your other point. You ought to watch Cecil last night, Scott Van Pelt, and I don't watch that show every night, but I watched it last night.
Starting point is 00:22:54 And he talked about how the Big 12 has manipulated the net. And it was actually very well done and fascinating. And basically his premise was this. The net gives you a ton of credibility for blowing teams out early. So when you win by 40 instead of 20, it matters in the net. And the Big 12 loaded up on teams and they won all these games by 40. And it's helping them in conference play because when they beat each other, it's not considered that big a deal.
Starting point is 00:23:24 And it's something to kind of remember next November when we're playing these stinky teams. We need to just win, Cecil. We need to win by a lot because the net actually considers how much you win by. I didn't know that. I didn't either. Our SCARVON and SEC Basketball Commissioner needs to get on that. And Quad 1 victories only North Carolina and the number one seeds, they're the only ones that have more Quad 1 victories than us.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Well, that's good enough. So our resume stacks up where. It didn't look good early in the season, but it stacks up where. Yeah, I think we still can get to, we could get to a three if we won out. I think if we only lose to Tennessee, we might still get to like a four. Yeah, and if we beat Tennessee, we'll have four, five, six, seven, and nine, a ring on the next. That's good, yeah. And my last one is Kevin Johnson.
Starting point is 00:24:23 I've been racking my brain. I'm still, I'm going to make my mind. That's what Corey said. That was what Wildcat Corey said. That's a good one. That is the best one so far. I still don't think it's quite there, but I'm going to make it my missions. And so everybody cares so much.
Starting point is 00:24:36 See if you can find me one better than Kevin Johnson, because I like that one. I think that one's very good. I don't like the one. I appreciate the call. So somebody who said, I think he's got a little bit of Brad Caliperi at him. What? Well, you look at his game. I mean, he plays a lot like he's dead, but no defense to Jeff.
Starting point is 00:24:54 He's probably better than Jeff. He's better than his dad. Yeah. His dad was a little more athletic, although Reed's athletic, but he's, I think Brad's, or excuse me, Brad, Reed's a much better shooter, right? And a better defender, maybe. Jeff went on that.
Starting point is 00:25:08 Reed's defense is so weird because it's either great or it's not good, and it's hard to know which it'll be. He'll get beat, but he'll block a shot or make a steal and make up for it. He's got the second most blocks of any guard in the modern era in Kentucky. Wow. Which is crazy when you think about how he plays. We'll take a break, be right back. Ag it. KSR.
Starting point is 00:25:30 T.J. Smith, personal injury attorney. Call T.J. He'll make them pay. Now, more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. I did just tweet about the video because it's everywhere now. And I just said, I'm kind of with you, Ryan. The problem to me is that the video got out, not the fight itself. See, I'm kind of with you too, man, because stuff like that happens a lot.
Starting point is 00:25:52 And when you're in the locker room, you know, you keep that stuff. in the locker room. That makes you all look bad. I mean, there's no thing where you have a lot of people in a group, Shannon, where you're not going to fight sometimes. I mean, like, take a band. I mean, they may not fist fight, right? But you can't travel around the country with a band and not fight, right? Like, you're going to argue. You're going to argue. You're going to argue. The four of us have had fights. Right. But I think the difference is if you, if we got in an argument on a trip, Shannon, one of the two people not in it is not going to film it. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:24 And is not going to release it. And that to me is, now I know football's got a lot more people, but that's the part that like, if I'm Mark Stoops and I see that. And Drew, you may be right, those guys aren't on the team anymore. But if I'm Mark Stubes and I see that, I'm actually more mad at the filming of it and the release of it than the fight. I agree. If I'm a football coach, leave it separate to that video, any fight.
Starting point is 00:26:50 If I see it on the internet, I walk in and I'm not yelling at who fought first. I'm going, we're a locker room. Why am I seeing this on Twitter? Why are you throwing your teammates under the bus by making this public? And then I'll get to whoever was fighting. I didn't play college football. I assume there's a story similar to that and about every locker room in the country. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:08 One person writes, if you want to do Eastern versus Western Kentucky, ask Drew Franklin how much fried chicken was invented in Eastern Western Kentucky. That's right. It is. KFC was Corbyn. The desperation in your all's arguments. I didn't get to all the great basketball players. Wasn't the first one actually in Salt Lake City?
Starting point is 00:27:29 The first franchise, but the original store was in, is in, is it, is it Corbin or London? That's Corbin, I think. Corbin. Yeah. But what's weird is London has the chicken festival. Yep. Which is kind of odd. There are also people argued about the geography of the mountains.
Starting point is 00:27:47 All right. So first of all, somebody says Bath County is the mountains. I've been there. Ryan, it's got mountain tendencies. But it's also got a lot of farmland and like Amish people. Yes, right. So I tend to say no, but it does have, it's kind of got mountain tendencies. Now, even though I don't put Mount Sterling in the mountains,
Starting point is 00:28:10 court day is about as eastern Kentucky as it gets, even though it's not in the mountains, right? Very true. I had somebody who texts me, he goes, you guys, it's outside your parameters, but he also felt like Rock Castle County felt like a mountain county. See, I don't know. It is, okay, so it has the geography part of it of the mountains.
Starting point is 00:28:32 But I don't consider it culturally the mountains. Do you? No. You and I think agree that's south-eastern section below 64 and west of 75. That's the mountain area. What are the most, like if you were to say, what's the most mountain place in Kentucky? like if you're saying like okay what's the center of
Starting point is 00:28:53 eastern like what's the center of mountains a lot of people would say hazard because that's where WIMT is yeah but I think like if you're to me you don't get much more eastern Kentucky than Pike County no you know what I mean
Starting point is 00:29:10 like that was the center of coal it's you got deep mountains you got all kinds of stuff there it's actually a huge geographic county So I would put the center of like being in the mountains as Pike County. What about you? Well, my first thing I thought of when you asked that question was Harlan.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Harlan is like that culturally, but it's also kind of isolated because there aren't roads in and out that are easy to get to. To me, that's what being in the mountain is about. Okay, so Drew, what would you say is like the center point culturally of Western Kentucky? That was tough because the true way. Western Kentucky, they don't even like people like me saying we're saying. Exactly. That's why I don't feel like you have that. Like Eastern Kentucky, we all consider us one. But in Western Kentucky, I think there's a difference from like out there next to the Mississippi River and then like you, the Bowling Green kind of area. But like you, including London, is like us including Bowling Green. Although West Kentucky is, University is in Bowling Green. But to answer your question, like a true Western Kentucky. Yeah, the Western Kentucky hub, I think.
Starting point is 00:30:20 I think it depends on how big to say. If you don't know Kentucky that well, you might just think Owensboro or something like that. Owensboro might be what I would say. Yeah, but it's some people in West would take offense to that. Northern Kentucky. What's Northern Kentucky? To me, it's the Florence Water Tower. Yeah, that's probably the most symbolic thing because all the counties up there.
Starting point is 00:30:40 We talk about it kind of all run together. If you think of Northern Kentucky, what's the first thing you think about? To me, it's that water tower, isn't it? Yeah. Absolutely. Florence, y'all. Lexington is certainly the center of central Kentucky. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:53 And then Louisville's just Louisville, at least in my opinion. Bob and James Town, what do you got? I'll tell you what, that first half, the way State was raining those threes, I thought we were on the Edmund Fitzgerald with the hatch covers coming off. I don't know what went on in that locker room. But I mean, I'm still numb right now. I thought I was in the game. I mean, that's what you woke up.
Starting point is 00:31:20 I mean, that was just unbelievable, unbelievable second half. And then the finish, like I say, it's a classic college game. It was. The last minute was wild. Last minute was the reason people love college basketball is the last minute. Definitely. Oh, it's just, when I see Reed in London at Golden Corral, it's on me. How much?
Starting point is 00:31:44 Oh, I was bet to say. I was meant to say you don't see. read in London and golden crown very often. But next time I'll tell him it's on you. I appreciate it, Bob. Okay. I am going to this weekend, Ryan, order a hot honey and a hot honey pizza with banana peppers.
Starting point is 00:32:02 You know, that commercial is so awful. It's so... But it worked. Shannon, that's why it worked. Hey, people are talking about it. It's so... How awful could it be? But that's how it works.
Starting point is 00:32:13 It's not just the pizza. This morning, I went straight to my group. garage and tried to find a dirty white t-shirts. So maybe we should start rating our ads like we're being held hostage. Well, no, I think that's why our ads work is because we screw them up a lot. They both look like they did not want to be there. They're uncomfortable, nervous. No, they look like they're hostages in that video.
Starting point is 00:32:36 It's so awful. They look like they're being held hostage by Donato's. And they're like, we will let you go when you say what kind of pizza you like. And Rob's like, pepperoni. And then they go, all right, you can go. Yeah. So you should try that. So you should.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Reed even squints at one point to make sure he's reading the lines, right? They've been focused on basketball. I'm telling you, I think it's going to work. I cannot imagine that the Donato's hot honey and banana pepper pizza has ever been sold more than it will these next few days. You're probably right about that. It's probably the number one order this weekend. Now, pepperoni, I don't know. I feel like that one doesn't.
Starting point is 00:33:14 I feel like that one was doing all right before Rob. probably and I do love he looked like he got a t-shirt. I mean that t-shirt is is eastern Kentucky. That is your best that's your best argument for claiming Reed is that T-shirt. That T-shirt. The plain white wrinkled T-shirt? Yes, you cannot argue Reed is not from Eastern Kentucky when you see that t-shirt. You know his mom saw that and it's so embarrassed like Reed could you not get a shirt that wasn't wadded up and wrinkled on the floor? But now he can say mom look at the numbers. They're out of banana peppers. They're out of hot honey. They sold out of pizza. That's right. Let's go to
Starting point is 00:33:46 Chris, what's up, Chris? I just think Reed reminds me a lot of Sean Bradley. I mean, I'm serious, though. Dillingham is the one that, he's the one that kind of throws me for a loop on the comparisons. He's hard to figure out one. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:08 And Jamal Crawford, you know. That's who comes to my mind with him, is him. Yeah, yeah. I appreciate you guys. Thank you. Jamal Crawford's the call for him because he just comes in, shoots, is wild, might go for 25, might turn it over four straight times. Jamal Crawford in his prime, like when he played with the clippers,
Starting point is 00:34:30 that's him. Adam and Lexington. Go ahead, Adam. Hey guys, how you doing? Doing good. Wanted to see where you all rank Reed as a freshman, like the best freshman in UK all time. I got him up there in the top three. And I think he's similar story-wise to an SGA.
Starting point is 00:34:53 Yeah, I don't have him in the top three. I would say best freshman, Anthony Davis, John Wall, Brandon Knight, Jamal Murray, Deeran Fox and Malik Monk, who am I missing, Ryan? Julius Randall. Yeah, you got to put Julius Randall there. I mean, I love Reed. I love Reed.
Starting point is 00:35:18 I love Reed. game though. Yeah, but I love Reed, and he's much higher than I would have ever imagined. But we can't forget those other dudes, because some of those dudes were playing by themselves, like Brandon Knight, you know? And John Wall was national player of the year. Anthony Davis was consensus national player of the year. Julius Randall has a single-season rebound record and dragged a team to the national championship game.
Starting point is 00:35:46 Now, at the end of the year, if we're in the title game or we win a title and he's the dude that led the team, now I'll talk to you about that. But let's not like, again, I love the kid. Best freshman on the team, which I wouldn't have thought that. But I'm not ready yet to put him with those dudes who all had seasons like Reeds and were pretty amazing. that's fair uh another quick point i'll talk about piercing baby's uh ears yes that's quite a transition yes well it's easier i wanted to say this earlier it's easier as a baby because uh i got two daughters and when you try to do it older they get anxiety that it's gonna hurt them okay and you want you you know you can't put a necklace or a bracelet on a baby because they might choke on it but if you
Starting point is 00:36:41 want to you know shower them with a little bit of jewelry you can put some nice earrings and I appreciate it. There you go. I didn't know that. See, you learn something new every day. Yeah. Hey, with all eyes on basketball, it's now time to get on and on the action with Draft Kings. It's an official sports betting partner of the NBA. New customers who deposit five or more dollars get a no sweat bet up to a thousand dollars back in a bonus bet. Ryan, like I said, I know three people that did this yesterday. Deposit a thousand dollars. basically no sweat. If they lose, they get it back, and then they won and got like $2,400. That's kind of nuts, if you think about it.
Starting point is 00:37:22 What's a no sweat bet? It's like getting an offensive rebound. Miss your first shot, you get another chance to score. But it's your first one. So if you make your first bet for $10, then it's $10. Just keep that in mind because I had a couple, I had one person call me and be like, did I do this right? You get one shot at it.
Starting point is 00:37:39 And there are lots of games coming up this weekend, Kentucky and Arkansas as well. Download the Draft King Sportsbook app now. Use the code KSR, no sweat bet, up to $1,000 if your first bet loses. It's only KSR, the crown is yours. Gambling problem, call 180-gambler, 18 plus physically present in Kentucky. One no-swebett per new customer. Issued is one bonus bet based on the amount of initial losing bet. Bonus specs expire, 168 hours after issues.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Deposit wagering, eligibility, restrictions, and supply, terms at sportsbook.com. Sportsbook.organs.com slash promos. We'll take a break. Be right back, KSR. Great song. that performance drew at the concert for Easter Kentucky was the best. Yep. Oh, yeah. As one of the most like, whoa things of all time was Patty Lovellas singing this in that setting.
Starting point is 00:38:29 I'm glad UK athletics is working this into things. It's the walk-up song for one of the pitchers this year. Oh, that's awesome. I think it's Evan Byers. I'll go ahead and say it's him. Baseball won yesterday, 7-1. Beat Western. Who they play this weekend?
Starting point is 00:38:42 Lipscomb, I think, at home. Lipscomb. A long home stand right now, I think, right? Yeah. Seven and one so far to start the season. Shannon, we have not many, but a handful of fans that are like the most sensitive I've ever seen. They're mad at me for retweeting the video that is already all over the internet. Why give this attention, Matt?
Starting point is 00:39:08 The player's fighting video? Yes. Mike Golick just tweeted it out. Barstool Sports tweeted it out. I first saw it on Bustin with the boys. They got several hundred thousand followers. And you really think it was me that's going to make it go viral when you retweet it. You know, I haven't seen it until you retweeted it.
Starting point is 00:39:25 I think they're right. Oh, shut. I'm looking at it. First time I see it. I mean, Mike Golick, Barstall Sports. I don't follow those guys. I follow Matt Jones. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Well, it's definitely my fault. Yeah. Again, there is a group of people. This isn't just our fans. This is every part of life that's like, don't tell me. don't tell me anything. Stop. Oh my God, there's a belly to back
Starting point is 00:39:47 suplex. It is an unbelievable fine. That's why it's going to go viral anyway because it's such an amazing video. They really don't land anything except that beautiful suplex. I like the caption of the video I saw
Starting point is 00:40:00 said, till the battle is won. A little dig on Kentucky there. Dude. And one of them's got his shirt off. That would be, he must be from Eastern Kentucky. If he's fighting with his shirt. of. Did you see the story, Ryan, that in the Campton, Kentucky Dairy Queen, there are allegations
Starting point is 00:40:20 from employees that they made them eat ice cream that had a cleaning solution in it. Oh. Oh, no. That's what, Wolf County? Is that right? Right. Yeah. Yeah. What do you mean? They made them. So apparently they accidentally, I, this is what, I don't understand the forcing part, Shannon, but apparently they accidentally had ice cream and they put like accidentally had cleaning solution in it. And I think their argument is that the people were like, eat it and make sure it's okay. You got to have somebody like to test it, I guess. You're getting pig.
Starting point is 00:40:59 They just going to see like if you don't drop dead, then I guess it's fine. Yeah, I mean, what else are they going to do? Maybe replace the ice cream. Drop like a chemical strip in there and see if it checks out. So it's an allegation, but I guess you got to be careful. when you go to the Dairy Queen, Drew, that there's no cleaning supplies in it. I have a quote from the story. One of the parents talking about their children.
Starting point is 00:41:21 It looks like a lot of minors. They were told by the manager that whether or not they liked chocolate ice cream, they were going to eat some today. That's from WKYT. How can that manager think that's a good idea? I want to make my minor employees try some tainted ice cream. Some of the kids had complained there was a burn. Curning sensation when the 8th century.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Well, I mean, that'll do that with cleaning solution, I would think. Let's go to Alex. What's up, Alex? I'm just calling in. I wanted to see what you think about the comparison. Ball Murray, just to give you a little more recent. And then secondly, you mean Jamal Murray to read? Yeah, Reed Shepardette.
Starting point is 00:42:08 That's interesting. No, but I like at least you try. But go ahead. gave a shot what kind of secondly one of my concerns moving forward
Starting point is 00:42:19 obviously in March you know is Trey Mitchell's coming back I think we've had a lot of different rotations throughout the year and it seems like we finally hit our strout
Starting point is 00:42:28 rotations he's doing now I mean how do you think Cal is going to handle Trey Mitchell coming back I don't know I think
Starting point is 00:42:35 I think Trey Mitchell should play less minutes than he played before but we need him Ryan because there are still teams that I think we struggle to hard without him. Like, for instance, that Gonzaga game would have been a really nice game to
Starting point is 00:42:47 having. Yeah, and you know they're going to run into a game like that in the tournament where there'll be one game where maybe it's a Z game, but there'll be a game when they need Trey Mitchell. Absolutely. Yeah, so before he got hurt, he was playing like 40 minutes a game, 38, 35. I don't think he needs to do that now, but I actually do think he's somebody that we are still we are still going to need. Just like you hope you don't need court therapy. Well, maybe it's you might. If you have any pain or whatever, go to court physical therapy. If you have exercising it caused pains, court physical therapy will bring the pain down and help you tailor a plan to your needs. You don't need a doctor referral. Go to court and get them
Starting point is 00:43:26 to help you with your pain. There's over 75 locations around the state. Visit court.com. That's k-o-r-t-t.com. Okay, so tomorrow we will be at KS bar, dollar wings all day at the bar. I'm going after the show tomorrow, Ryan, to Columbus, Ohio to watch the Cains. So it'll be show, then Columbus. And I'm coming back for the remote on Friday in Garrett Cair. My goodness. Make sure you change your oil. Got to go see the Cains.
